Welcome to the longest night of the year, the moment of maximum mystification and terror for frail humanity, fretting that the sun might be going away for all the rest of time. Scanning the smoke signals from America’s loudest engine of mystification, The New York Times, one searches in vain for some evidence that Joe Biden still exists. There is barely a cookie-crumb trail of some hypothetical cabinet appointments, plus a few obviously insincere and artificial sugarplums about “healing the nation.” Where-oh-where is the party’s avatar and the country’s savior, Ol’ White Joe, in these fraught hours? Has the fabled basement become his tomb? Will his revenant float transparently out into the night sky on Christmas Eve and pass through the walls of the “residence” at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave to rattle his chains like Jacob Marley’s ghost at the foot of the president’s bed, wailing, “I cannot rest, I cannot stay, I cannot linger anywhere. My spirit never walked beyond the awful shackles of the CEFC Energy Company — mark me! — in life my spirit never roved beyond the narrow limits of our family’s money-changing hole; and weary journeys lie before me!  Oooooohhhhhhhh…?”

It says something, does it not, that the corporeal Joe Biden is missing-in-action? You’d think he’d be bustling around like crazy out there, trying to, at least, give some impression of being at-large-and-in-charge, preparing to launch a score of battles against the enemies of peace and prosperity lately afflicting this sore-beset nation, yo-yo-ing back and forth between Jake Tapper and Rachel Maddow to reassure their cringing viewers of Wokedom come, wolfing down plates of field peas, ham hocks, and cornbread to display his allyship with the downtrodden masses of this-and-that color, gender, flavor, and texture, comforting the homeless on the pitiless streets of the ailing cities, volunteering to get stuck with vaccine needles of every pharma company on the S & P, with side orders of hydroxychloroquine, ivermectin, and famotidine, huddling with the nabobs of Wall Street to halt the sinking dollar, visiting the troops with plane-loads of turkey dinners — you know… rallying the worried people of this anxious land in their time of trouble….

And what of Kamala Harris? Did she steal off to some Caribbean beach to mull over her options? It appears that she’s still holding that seat in the US Senate, let’s face it, a very cushy sinecure that “fixes” its exalted members for life, and in more ways than one, if you know what I mean. Of all the thoughts racing through Ms. Harris’s skull these dark days, I suspect the dimmest of them concerns the actual possibility she may actually end up as president. She acts like someone who knows something, and knows that the something she knows is not altogether a good something. Notice the giggling has ceased.

And so, we pass through a weekend of predictable news that Congress has authorized another gazillion dollars to bail out stock markets and banks, under the guise of helping ordinary Americans hopelessly crushed by lockdowns and government-induced small business failures, and we hurtle toward what’s likely to be the bluest Christmas in memory with the republic in the balance. The president… that would be Mr. Trump… is portrayed in the nervous mainstream news media as flailing wildly around the West Wing, confabbing with Krakens, battling with his “closest advisors,” all importuning him to concede the election. D’ya think so? Maybe, but I’m not so sure.

Something more orderly and momentous might be playing out, and on the q.t., something that may turn-around the odious sham that was the election phase of the long-running coup against the chief executive. Joe Biden, or the ghost of Joe Biden and the people who manage his hologram, must not be allowed to occupy the Oval Office and seize the levers of power. It should be impossible to ignore the evidence of his previously bought-and-paid-for obligations to the folks who run China, though the people who bring us the “news” do exactly that, and are probably acting as accessories to what will amount to one of the greatest attempted political crimes of history.

It also appears that, in the course of all these fractious election hijinks, foreign actors have penetrated America’s most sensitive computer networks, including the treasury department, the nuke labs, and the electric grid. Why not then the computers that tabulated the recent election?  They were, after all, hooked up to the Internet, though they were not supposed to be. All this is right in the wheelhouse of the Defense Intelligence Agency, and the least you can say is that President Trump anticipated it when he shifted out the old DOD top management a month ago and replaced them with, shall we say, a more reliable crew. What remains to be seen this fretful Christmas week is exactly what, and who, will be flying over America’s rooftops on the eve of the Great Day.

A toast to all my readers, and even the rowdy comment gang, this hallowed week of our darkest days, and a merry Christmas to all!

Why has the gay, trans and socialist agenda been pushed so hard these last sixteen years. A gay communist Obama, a trans Michelle, both owned by a sociopath monster Soros, that’s why America! Joan Rivers lives!

    • malthuss December 21, 2020 at 10:00 am #

      Joan Rivers lives! ?????

Nah, it is just good ol’ divide and conquer. Get the proles fighting and then bend them over.

  4. King of Comedy December 21, 2020 at 9:44 am #

In a hyper-feminized country where a significant portion of the population treats a virus with a greater than 99% survival rate as if it’s the Black Death, who knows what is possible. I suspect that aforementioned group could see a light shining out of the sky accompanied by the requisite booming voice illuminating electoral fraud and it would make little difference. Convincing the country en masse that something went down is never going to happen. Rationality, much like Elvis, has left the building but in the same breath, that is the dilemma for those who believe the fix is in. There are certainly quite a few shady-appearing aspects to the 2020 debacle but proving them may well be another matter.

My guess is if Republicans prevail in GA, this debate will pass into history as Biden will be hamstrung and harassed for two miserable years until the inevitable parade to the political abattoir of the 2022 midterms. If on the other hand, the people who believe Trotsky had some good ideas tip the Senate, then all bets are most certainly off.

    • Rulo Deschamps December 21, 2020 at 7:12 pm #

King of comedy, you’re right that men and women think and act differently, and to a large degree the women’s viewpoint prevails now all around us: safety, ‘hurt feelings’, ‘don’t rock the boat’, everybody gets a trophy. Most women and maybe about half of the men are tuned in to that wavelength now, it seems. Mr K talks about president T as the “daddy figure” to hate. He may have something there. Women are superior to us men in some ways, but in my experience, generally men react better under pressure, stay calmer, don’t freak out. Something to ponder as stormy weather approaches.
The 2022 midterms… a lot of us won’t be paying attention to that game anymore. Now is when the Republic survives or perishes. Most likely it will perish, so who cares about future sham elections that ignore, cheat and deny the larval 3rd party that has emerged, the America First party if you will. If early 2021 doesn’t deliver the strong correction that JHK and others foresee (too optimistically I think), then 2022 doesn’t mean much.
Trotsky’s Mexican house in Coyoacán, a lovely old village devoured by the ever expanding cosmopolis of the Distrito Federal, is full of ghosts. There, Trotsky was murdered with an ice pick by Stalin’s agents, but his is not the only ghost in the shady patios. The ghosts of Utopia lurk there too. Whatever idealism and faith in mankind Communism once inspired died there, and in the Spanish Civil War, and also around the Molotov-Ribbentrop entente divvying up Poland right before WW2.
Merry Christmas JHK and comment contributors. Thank you for always giving me food for thought and many interesting angles to ponder. Agree or disagree, I appreciate the insights and original thoughts I find here, and the many life-experiences represented.

Not only has Biden been MIA, but the mainstream media seems to have forgotten that there even was an election, practically having nothing to say about anything. Just the occasional whimper of “no evidence.”

    • longcipher December 21, 2020 at 11:15 am #

Funny that a president-elect who doesn’t tweet 450 times an hour is called MIA. I don’t care much for Biden, but the fact that he isn’t a narcissistic media whore, like Don the Con, doesn’t mean that he isn’t working.

      • Jeremy December 21, 2020 at 11:50 am #

The most work Beijing Biden does these days is change his dribble bib and diaper.

      • cbeard December 21, 2020 at 6:19 pm #

I have never been a huuuge Trump Fan, but he was the only candidate with enough common sense to realize that unlimited immigration was destroying our society and the only one who called the hand on unfair trade deals and the need to bring jobs back to this country. Also, practically all politicians are narcissistic media whores. Trump is not a politician or a lawyer, which are more points in his favor. Anyone with a goddamn brain should be tired of the status quo, same old corrupt politicians feathering their nest using taxpayer monies. Trump isn’t even taking his presidential salary. Ask Joe Bidet if he would forego his salary. You may get what you wish and probably deserve with the left taking over by election fraud as there doesn’t seem to be enough men with balls left in this soon to be shithole country, to do anything about the stolen election. Most people i try to talk to about this seem to be giving up. The fucking mass media bullshit is working on all the feeble minded motherfuckers. Sorry for the tirade. At least to the rest of you. I don’t apologize in the least to the dumb bastard I was addressing. I’m done. Gotta check my blood pressure and have a drink.

        • cbeard December 21, 2020 at 6:23 pm #

I really should count to 10 or maybe 100 before I hit the reply button. But, it is what it is.

        • Rulo Deschamps December 21, 2020 at 7:27 pm #

Cbeard, spot on. Not a huge fan either, but he started something, and I respect him for that. If only he’d been more of a fighter…

        • benr December 21, 2020 at 7:35 pm #

No worries I understand where you are coming from.
Donald not great, Republicans not great but Joey Bidet and Kamala is far worse and the Democrats are just evil at this point.

        • MontanaMan December 23, 2020 at 12:09 am #

          You are 100% correct..

        • Wizard of the Saddle December 23, 2020 at 1:02 am #

Jesus. I could have written this word for word. I am on exactly the same page as you are, brother. You are 100% right. The fix is in and they are getting away with it because no one with actual lawful power to act, WILL act. I am beyond disgusted at this point

Clearly these clowns will have to begin kicking in the doors of average Americans and start dragging their wives and kids out into the yard for a gang rape session before most folks will find their mojo again and ACT.

Otherwise, the sheep just shrug it all off and return to their daily trivial pursuits. With a citizenry like this, our collective enslavement by the Hard Left is almost a foregone conclusion. Those of us who are not sheep will be the ones killed by the tyrants when they come to collect our guns and take some unexpected “mass casualties” in the process. Like the defenders of the Alamo we will resist to the end, but it will be too late to do any good.

      • Night Owl December 22, 2020 at 8:31 am #

The president-elect is Donald J. Trump.

Biden is a proven pedophile, grifter, and seditious criminal who will never see the White House.

The fact that he is also an invalid at this point who is incapable of Tweeting or holding a press conference is of no consequence.

      • MaryV December 22, 2020 at 1:23 pm #

JHK didn’t mention Tweeting, but he did list a lot of ‘presidential’ things a president elect might be doing rather than hiding in his basement battling bouts of sundowner’s.

      • rube-i-con December 22, 2020 at 4:12 pm #

Maybe Biden isn’t on the ventilator yet. It may be just the shock of not having Trump 24/7 in the face of everybody, media going nuts over it and everyone talking through their respective hat. Twitter’s traffic must be down at least 20%.

    • MaryV December 22, 2020 at 1:22 pm #

It’s difficult to keep upholding a lie, it feels so inorganic and it makes people tired, no matter how corrupt or greedy they are as they are paid to ‘catapult the propagana’ – it has to take its toll on even the most depraved.

  6. SomeoneInAsia December 21, 2020 at 9:50 am #

I’ve read that Jupiter and Saturn are going to be in conjunction today, the very winter solstice of 2020 — an event which takes place only once every few centuries. Wonder what astrologers think this event would augur for 2021…

    • SouthernYankee December 21, 2020 at 9:52 am #

Well, biblically speaking, it was noted as the Star of Bethlehem. So it may again augur something prophetic this season Asia.

          • Disaffected December 21, 2020 at 12:00 pm #

Of course the Klingons hail from the still little known but extremely fertile ring belt that circles Uranus. Unfortunately for them, that means you can always smell them coming. No stealth shields for that yet, although CV19 shows promise.

          • Yohannon December 21, 2020 at 12:04 pm #

There are 300 pound women from New Jersey who can speak fluent Klingon. Don’t mess with them if you go to a Convention.

Part of me thinks what we have right now , “because of the holidays” in lack of better excuse, is the calm before the storm. Election-divided country with ruined business and lives can not last for long as is.
Oddly, only restaurant owners, as of now, are vocal out there about ridiculous arbitrary closure of some businesses and declaring other as an “essential”. History books will take notice to give a proper credit.
        Happy holidays to all.

    • JohnAZ December 21, 2020 at 10:31 am #

As the planes of the planetary orbits are not all lined up with each other, these two planets being in line with Earth and on the same level with each other only occurs every 800 years. Definitely worth a look.

The Christmas star was supposedly a close conjunction between three planets, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars. The frequency of this occurrence is enormous.

To astrologers in the Mideast, who believe the future depended on the position of the planets, this needed investigation. So the Magi travelled to Bethlehem to investigate the future altering occurrence there. I believe a prediction of a great king existed at the time.

      • JohnAZ December 21, 2020 at 10:32 am #

The date of that conjunction was in 7 BC.

      Civil War 2 in 2021.

Yeah, it’s “calm” right now. Like the “Secession Winter of 1860-61 was calm. It’s THAT sort of “calm.”

The Biden Mob / Antifa Mob / BLM Mob think this fight is over. They are whistling past the graveyard and they know it. There is a reason a Kamala STILL hasn’t resigned from her Senate seat yet. She knows that it could still all go south on them at any moment.

75 million fighting mad Trump voters also KNOW that they were swindled by the Dems and all their supporters in the MSM, Silicon Valley, and China.

PThe FRAUD does not sit well. The endless election shenanigans by Democrat fraudsters smells to high heaven.

If allowed to stand it means the end of authentic democratically elected government and the beginning of Banana Republichood with an express train ticket to Wokester Totalitarian Hell.

      This will not stand.

Beijing Biden is NOT my president.

The Kamel is NOT my Vice President.

      They are illegitimate USURPERS.

As such, no American is obliged to recognize any political act by these two as being lawful. Compliance is not going to happen. Only resistance to unlawful authoritarianism by two posers to power. Paybacks are truly HELL.

      Happy 2021 Libtards.

  10. bluekayak December 21, 2020 at 9:52 am #

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the House
    All the halls were as empty as Old Pelosi’s blouse;
Cuomigula hung his stockings by the chimney with care,
    In hopes that Old Joe’s stimulus bucks soon would be there;
The antifa kiddies were nestled in their Mom’s basement beds,
    While visions of Soros-checks danced in their heads;
And mamma with her sawed off, and I with Sig-Sauer
Had just settled down for a winter’s siege-hour,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to waste some dumbass lives matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But the giant great Trumpkin all full of great cheer,
With little old Giuliani, that 9/11 prick,
I knew in a moment, Miz Powell had a trick.
Like certiorai petitions denied as they came,
    And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
“Now, ROBERTS! now, AMY! Now CLARENCE you wiener!
On, KAGEN the Lesbo and that diabetic LATINA!
To the top of the docket! My back’s to the wall!
Now rule away! Rule away! Rule away all!”

Hey there Paul – I make no claims to genius and am just a poor poetaster, but you offer nothing but eye-rolling bitchiness.
Why don’t you go eat a nice bag of dicks unless you can dash off a parody in 8 minutes between two jobs, wiseass

          • Paul December 22, 2020 at 12:05 pm #

bk, I could say something like: “How do you know if I’m rolling my eyes or not; and your projection of ‘bitchiness’ is your mirror image, calling your name. So if you have 8 minutes to spare between two McJobs, then I would say that both of yr. overlords are being cheated. Paddle on back to shit-island, (with yr. sack of unsold dicks), and hope yr bosses are handing out free pieces of seal blubber for you to gnaw on. . . “, but I won’t. Instead, I’ll just say: Merry Christmas! And if you want to have a fast-poetry contest, I’m in!

    • Soul Forensics December 21, 2020 at 1:56 pm #

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas (cont’d):

But to my breathless horror the Trumpkin then vanished
In a puff of snow mist, to the ether was banished
By the Hologram’s cane as he leaned on his walker,
Anon tried the side ivy, the groping sad gawker.

I cocked my rifle and watched in disbelief
As he scaled the vines, leaves in false teeth.
He trembled and shook, then groaned and fell back
To a carpet of white on his burgeoning sack

Filled with IOUs whose worth was a digital graph
of shifting CDOs and stimulus faff.
Giuliani hovered closer with his briefcase of suits
And showed Ole Man Biden he was in cahoots

With Spy Masters, honey pots, and men from Burisma
Who eclipsed the Elect with cash and charisma.
On CLARENCE! On ALITO! On RUDOLPH GIULIANI!
Leave the doddering shade to rest on his fanny

In purgatorial stasis while I set down my gun.
But what’s this? It’s Trumpkins, this should be fun!

  11. Beryl of Oyl December 21, 2020 at 10:00 am #

I see that for some reason, the AP has decided to allow Dr. Deborah Birx to slide under the wheels of the bus.

Seems while she was telling Americans who dangerous it would be to travel and gather over Thanksgiving, she traveled and gathered with her own kin.

Oh, but it was okay, because she did not celebrate the holiday. The virus wouldn’t have liked that.
No, she gathered, kids grandkids and all, to pour antifreeze in the toilets at one of her multiple waterfront vacation properties.
That’s funny. Usually the wealthy folk have the realtors arrange that for them, being as they stand to make such a yuge commission and all.

No, Dr. Birx bravely risked her own life and that of her family, to take care of the chores in person.
    Her husband’s name is Paige.

This is not hypocrisy. This is flagrantly and wilfully ignoring her own rules, because she KNOWS they are complete rubbish.

Those of you who still believe in the stuff she espouses, after all this time, are stupid, stupid stupid.

This is a gigantic case of criminal fraud. It’s starting to unravel.
I think I know who they will try to leave holding the bag.

Oh, by the way, the CDC decided to throw in the flu and pneumonia with the ‘ro, in their count of hospitalizations. That’s where the rise in hospitalizations is coming from. That and all the delays people experienced in getting treatment for anything else.

Why do the elite insist on owning waterfront property?

    • MiddlePeninsula December 21, 2020 at 10:44 am #

This is so true. I am going to California to pick up my kin and bring them back to the East Coast. My daughter wrings her hands and expresses her concerns. I say:
      1. California has 40 million folks.
      2. How many of those were false positives.
      3. I had COVID in January and it was like a rotten two day flu although the cough hung around for three weeks.
I am going to wear my face diaper and sally forth. I am just glad at my age it is not a real diaper.

      • MrMangoOnMyShoulder December 21, 2020 at 10:59 am #

Agreed. Just hope they don’t release a stronger strain to bring everyone into belief/compliance. This is BS. We;ve always had colds/flus. It sucks, but it’s usually just a temporary nuisance. How in the hell are people allowing the governments of the world to tell them to fear a friggin cold while stripping away any value in individual life?

Now, if when walking down the streets we saw people in the gutters bleeding from their eyes…then we would have something to talk about. Hope they don’t release that one.

      • MiTurn December 21, 2020 at 2:05 pm #

How many of these tests were false negatives? My son and daughter-in-law have Covid symptoms and were tested. Negative. Their doctor is not buying it. He’s been seeing to many false negatives.

        A thought anyhoo…

        • MrMangoOnMyShoulder December 22, 2020 at 9:54 am #

I’m sure that happens plenty as well. That said, your son and DIL might just have a bit of a winter cold, as we all have had since the dawn of time. Or maybe the tests were wrong…

I’m guessing the doc isn’t buying it because the hospital doesn’t get to cash in another positive.

    • Ishabaka December 21, 2020 at 12:06 pm #

Why do the elite insist on owning waterfront property? Because they believe in science – in this case, climate science.

    • Yohannon December 21, 2020 at 12:09 pm #

Yet still supremely dangerous. Most people in the Soviet Union knew Communism was bunk, yet you could pay with your life for saying anything against it. Our Elite enjoy humiliating us and will constantly let us glimpse them acting contrary to the Narrative. Will we dare to say anything? Well we better speak up now and try to derail it before it gains complete control.

Cuomo on the news just now: The deadly new strain is even now making its ways from Great Britain to the United States. We have to lock down like they are doing.

      • Paul December 23, 2020 at 9:28 am #

Every country with direct trade links to the U.K. has closed their borders at least for now. What has the United States done to protect the civil population?

All civil flights in U.S. airspace were stopped for three days following 9/11. North American airspace should’ve been closed way back in February and not just for 3 days. 3 months as an absolute minimum to contain the virus and stop its spread.

And now, the U.S. is failing to act, again. Don’t you know there’s a WAR on?

    • Paul December 21, 2020 at 7:22 pm #

Yes, I read the National Review piece on Brix as well. Their advice was precious:

“If you will be traveling to see loved ones this week for Christmas, and anyone suspiciously asks what you’re doing or where you’re going, just answer, “I’m going to winterize one of my properties before I sell it. My family will be joining me for a meal while I’m there, and we will be there for 50 hours or so”.

My impression of the piece was different from yours, BoO; I don’t agree with your view that Brix is ‘wilfully ignoring her own rules, because she KNOWS they are complete rubbish. What I do believe is that the good Dr. Brix already KNOWS that the requirement that ordinary citizens of the United States restrict their movements and limit their freedom of association during the pandemic does NOT apply to HER because she is a member of the unelected, unaccountable RULING CLASS.

The advice in itself is prudent, sound, and reasonable, and the people who accept it and abide by it are not, ‘stupid, stupid, stupid’, but careful, careful, careful. Out of an abundance of caution a reasonable person could abide by Dr. Brix’s directions without necessarily having to ‘believe them’. It would be enough to act solely out of a high index of caution. And if in being so careful you caught the virus and died anyway, at least it could be said of you that you had tried your best to limit its spread; and if in being so careful you remained free of the virus and survived, even better. Bully for you, and the rest of the vast, unwashed mass of people!

    • MaryV December 22, 2020 at 1:31 pm #

I am in L.A. and so far it is a beautiful day near Manhattan Beach. Sun shining, blue skies, people walking their kids in strollers with no masks, teenagers shooting hoops with no masks! Gasp!

To celebrate Jupiter and Saturn aligning tonight, today I will bring my six foot tall live North Carolina Pine back into my room after a two week respite in the back yard where it enjoyed water showers and a bit of sun (and the rabbits messing with it a little).

The lights and ornaments will go back on in new spots and I will decorate a little outside three foot tree on the patio for the little ones.

Whole family went to Maui a month ago and they kept calling each week, “Mind if we extend another week?!” Ha! Fine. Gives me more time to feed the roses and plant bulbs for Spring and rearrange a few more cupboards! They will be back in a few days.

It hasn’t felt like Christmas here at all. Maybe with the trees decorated, the smell of my grandma’s Hermit cookies baking and seeing The Christmas Star the mood will strike me.

And I hope that Hopeful Merry feeling strikes everyone here too!

        Merry Christmas!

I’m so thankful we pushed the RESET button a couple of years’ ago and moved 300 miles inland, an additional 1900 feet about sea level, and completely away from the coastal fault zones. Be careful out there, Mr. Mango.

    • draupnir December 21, 2020 at 11:10 am #

Seventy percent worse and more infectious still, though the method for quantifying this is obscure. England must be amputated from the body politic. Just in time for Brexit. As if this were cholera, citizens are fleeing London and the South in front of a massive lockdown.

      • GreenAlba December 21, 2020 at 11:43 am #

Just 70% more infectious, apparently, no evidence that it’s worse. It’s possibly less virulent in fact, as can be the way (a virus benefits from mutating in the direction of making its hosts less ill so that they can infect more people, rather than taking to their bed, or worse).

Re Brexit, we’ll all have to make the most of our Christmas dinner, since many of January’s dinners may be stuck in Kent until at least March. 🙂

Although we won’t know exactly where, since the fabled lorry park that is to be the jewel of Kent won’t be ready. Rain turned it into a lake, apparently, and held things up. Where are Santa’s little elves when you need them? Apparently we need 10,000 or so more customs officials to manage the 200m extra forms that will need to be filled in. And we don’t have them. Oops.

Being a practical soul, I’m wondering if they’re going to install portable toilets along all Kent’s main roads. Otherwise those road verges don’t bear thinking about. It’ll be like Skid Row – literally …

But Merry Christmas anyway, also to Mr K and fellow Rowdies.

All non-EU trade deals will entail a loss of sovereignty, most especially with the US, which will impose its lower standards and do incalculable damage to what farming businesses are still standing a few years after Brexit. The difference will be that we won’t be invited to vote for them. Not only that, but we won’t be told the details anyway, as they will be agreed by out betters.

I don’t think Sir Wm would have liked that either.

GA, is it possible some people may blame Brexit for problems actually caused more by excessive measures taken with regard to the “covid pandemic”, so-called?

It seems to me those who harp endlessly about the much hyped economic costs of Brexit maintain silence in the face of economies and lives destroyed by orchestrated panic over a flu bug. The latter being many multiples more costly.

          • GreenAlba December 21, 2020 at 7:35 pm #

            hm

It is possible that some Covid costs may be blamed on Brexit, but equally the government will find it very convenient to try to hide Brexit costs among the ashes of Covid.

The government’s own analyses show the cost to the economy (as did the analyses of Theresa May’s government – they don’t need me.

“The latter being many multiples more costly.”

I’d need to see your working, but I don’t deny the cost of the current business – also down to Mr Johnson, no?

That’s an old article, before the ‘easiest trade deal in history’ hit the skids. Now we’re looking at eye-watering tariffs for some sectors of the economy, notably livestock farming.

I remain ambivalent: on the one hand, I despise the hypocrisy and betrayal of the Democratic Party and loathe the idea of them getting away with stealing a presidential election in so blatant a manner.

On the other hand, it would be condign punishment for them to get what they wished for in this case. Whoever holds the Oval Office these next four years will also be left holding the biggest bag in the history of American politics, and it ain’t full of rose petals.

That bag will surely be aflame on the White House porch soon into the next presidential term, and what could be more fair than for Old White Joe to be the one who has to trudge out there in his bedroom slippers and try to stomp it out?

          Zoltar,

You’re mostly right but the patriots are not about being Republican (I’m an Independent). But Trump is about draining the swamp. That’s the reason for the coup.

          • Zoltar December 22, 2020 at 8:26 pm #

Of course they’re not. I don’t know how I could be more explicit: anyone who is still partisan Democrat or Republican, or doesn’t object to being associated with either party, is part of the problem.

      • hmuller December 21, 2020 at 11:55 am #

Sitting on the fence gives you butt dimples, which may or may not enhance your overall appearance.

But Zoltar makes a valid point. Whoever has command of this ship for the next 4 years will be navigating thru a hurricane. Somehow, I’m not reassured by the thought of Old Captain Joe or First-mate Kamala at the helm. And the results are unlikely to reprise the nostalgic whimsy of “Gilligan’s Island”.

Worse, the people really in charge (forget the above mentioned hand-puppet clowns) don’t want America to be safe and strong. I believe the Globalists want us to break up on the rocks and go down drowning.

It probably means nothing, but one quirky source predicts a US population of 100 million in 2025. Just how we get there is not explained. But if I see Bill Gates sneaking up on me with a syringe…..

Yes, the fence, get off the fence.

Problem is this, you’re a fool if you vote Democrat and you’re a fool if you vote Republican, because if you vote for either one you vote for an unworkable and calamitous status quo.
Each successive presidential administration is the seamless successor of the last, this last administration being the exception with respect to overseas supply chains and unrestricted immigration which both Democrats and Republicans worked for. Both the overseas supply chains and immigration worked to lower costs and raise corporate profits which was the objective of both political parties because both are funded by monied interests.

And both worked to the detriment of what we’ve been calling Deplorables. Trump was the exception which is why he must be overthrown. The issue is no longer being on or off the fence but rather doing a run around it like Trump did. This points to the dire necessity of a new political movement, one represented by a new political party not beholden to Wall Street and the billionaire oligarchy and one that can do a flanking manoeuver which the key to winning.

If it takes shape you can bet that existing interests will go at this thing tooth and nail. The oligarch shot-callers won’t cede say or power or money or privilege without a fight, neither will their Deep State and elected minions.

As I have said before, what you are witnessing is not the take over, but the curtain slowly being pulled back.

Trump 1, was a severe miscalculation by those with the levers of power. They did not “program” correctly for the hate towards Hillary.

This is why the swamp boiled. Not because of Trump, but because they had failed and had to implement a plan B.

      Zoltar,

I agree with what Chris Hedges wrote today in his column over at Scheerpost.com.

The only reason the Democratic Party isn’t railing against this election being ‘stolen’ is because this time, their candidate won.

Mr. Hedges has this figured out and his arguments are cogent and persuasive. It’s actually quite refreshing to benefit from his essentially Calvinist background and training; he’s quite consistent in expecting not the best, but the worst of things to happen.

People have always been shits, and when they’re not, there’s something we can build upon.

Yes, Hedges is reliably clear-thinking for these times. And he recognizes the fact that we are way too far past the Event Horizon for their to be any remedy provided by our political system. Only a complete overthrow of those now running the show could even attempt to address the problems we face.

Ireland has become intensely conformist and intolerant. I hear that they will also be making Holocaust Denial a crime. I think this is already the case in most of Europe, but not in Britain.

Most people here believe that in the past they were downtrodden by an oppressive Catholic clerical state. It is, of course, a cliché and completely wrong.

Now, where did these strange beliefs come from?

As for thinking, it resembles other countries on the western fringe, like Portugal and Iceland, and probably Norway, Denmark, Belgium and Holland too. And Wales and Scotland are very much in the club. Politically correct, deluded, class conscious and slavish provincial aping of the metropolis. Would anyone believe that Irish pubs have not been open since around St Patrick’s Day in March, except to serve food, with absurd social distancing rule, time limits and minimum expenditure on food rather vis a vis drink?

The elite here has been embarrassed by Ireland and the Irish for at least forty years and here is their chance to finish them off. They hope you all approve of their liberal zeal.

A tiny handful of men make up for the mediocrity: Raymond Crotty, Desmond Fennell and John Waters spring to mind. I cannot easily think of anyone else.

The Irish Savant is a great blogger. Alas the seeds of hate are very deeply sewn. The IRA were diehard Marxists after all, so the Republic was a born under a very dark cloud.

      • Sean Coleman December 21, 2020 at 12:33 pm #

The Irishman who has come into my thoughts over the past couple of days is the Victorian physicist or astronomer (I know ver little about him) George Fitzgerald. The 1887 Michaelson experiment had, by measuring light speeds in different directions, failed to show that the earth was moving. This was a big problem for the heliocentric model and for modern science as a whole. Fitzgerald and a Dutch(?) scientist by the name of Lorenz, clutching at straws, suggested that the pressure of the aether on the measuring equipment as the earth moved through it shortened it and affected the measurement of the light’s speed. This was just clutching at straws.

Einstein sezied on the idea and came up with his first theory of relativity in 1905, explaining the experiment’s result quite ingeniously. As I understand it (for what THAT is worth) the fixed speed of light meant that it was impossible to measure the speed of light when its source was moving at speed to or from the observer. The object moving at speed also shrunk so that accounted for the ‘false’ data from the experimental equipment. (He also found it necessary to throw in time dilation and increased mass to make the equations balance.) All this for the fame and his unwillingness to accept that the earth could be at the centre of the universe.

Oh yeah, Robert Sungennis has catalogued numerous quotes from eminent sceintists conceding that a geocentric model (with the earth at the centre of the universe) is just as feasible as a heliocentric solar system. Hawking is one. Einstein himself another. Note, the quotes are there, the books are there. Once again conventional wisdom is shown to be an imposter. Notice a pattern? Heliocentrism is no more than a philosophical preference, and not a very clever or promising one, when you consider the vast implications.

And for any thinkers out there who find this hard to take seriously please note that a geocentric model, such as Tycho Rahe’s, accounts for the relative positions of the earth, sun and planets exactly the same as the Copernican. You really have to see a model to believe it.

And in his revised, 1915, theory Ensiein conceded that the speed of light is not fixed. So all those turgid books of science fiction are not just bad writing but bad science. And as the Dems all say, do what “science says”.

Any, back to Fitzgerald. I expect he was a “worthy but dull” Anglo. Now Crotty, he was a native and a genius.

What about the Aether? Some are trying to bring it back. It would explain “much” and of course be the ultimate source of energy if we could but harness it.

          Tesla was an aether man!

          • beantownbill. December 21, 2020 at 2:51 pm #

The ether is an outdated theory. What’s now in vogue is vacuum energy.

There is a philosophical argument that there cannot be ‘nothing’ and that there must be something but, as of yet, I do not get it.

I can’t make lutefisk and lefsa; my mother hates fish and lefsa is too much trouble for just the two of us, though how it can be Christmas without lutefisk is beyond me. The church ladies at St. Stephen’s Lutheran always put on a lutefisk feast this time of year, but that is sadly cancelled. You are welcome to my dose of autoimmune disease as well. I’m not so concerned about the possible sterility factor, as I’m well past that age now, thank Christ. They are giving it to pregnant women and no pregnant women were included in their studies, so its anyone’s guess as to how it will affect a fetus. Perhaps it will lead to a whole generation of drooling pinheads. It contains polyethylene glycol. Like mercury in the measles vaccine, the manufacturers assure us it is safe, but my brother-in-law used an empty and purportedly thoroughly rinsed out bottle of the stuff to water his dog while camping and gave the poor thing convulsions. The idiot is lucky he didn’t use it to drink from it himself. My sister actually had children by him.

What is the difference between New Zealand and the United States?
Beyond of course different locations on the globe.
What makes providing a vaccine to all of New Zealand’s populace verses America?
Do you think making anything is really just throwing pixie dust at it and it magically appears?

Why are we still gushing over Trump?
Gushing is of course not the correct answer.
At least Trump heard and started mouth breathing America first!
He even said it with the vaccine most normal people don’t want.

The answer is that Biden is just that pathetic.
He is the essence of #metoo abuse, lies, corrupt and a puppet with silk strings hell I can all but seem the works crawling our of his mouth and nose.
Harris is unlikeable by any measure no sense of humor and not fit to be county dog catcher.

Trump was a direct reaction to Obama/Biden.
So if the fraudulent election is allowed to stand and after several months of demented Biden before he is removed using grandma pelosi 25th amendment statute then we get Harris.
The lady that failed to even get 3% from the DEMOCRAT PRIMARIES.
Then the rest of the time under Harris what do you think the reaction of Americans will be next election cycle?

Green new deal bullshit, business crushing regulation, China eating our lunch, manufacturing going back offshore, massive unemployment, further lockdowns for virus problems, grifiting that will make Tammany hall look honest, 70’s style gas lines at the pump, jimmy Carter era bumbling and God only knows what war they want next.

Same with people who say “Sherbert”. – Mango

            ===========

I am an offender re “sherbert.” I noticed over the years that the second syllable contains no r but just couldn’t eliminate that r from my pronunciation. It must have been a regional thing where I grew up in So. Jersey, not far from Philly.

There is another word that contains no r and yet we pronounced it as though it contained one. The word is ‘wash.’ We would say warsh. “Warsh your hands before dinner.” When this mispronunciation was brought to my attention I immediately began to work on correcting it. My brother, however, continued to say ‘warsh’ even though he lived 2/3rds of his life in South Florida.

Here is what a Google search produced on the subject of sherbert:

Sherbert is a variant spelling of the word sherbet. It’s often considered a mistake.

            ===========

But this is NOT a spelling issue. This is a STUPID issue. There must have been five times previously that you have used this same wrong word and I have brought it to your attention by italicizing it. It’s not that you misspelled versus. You simply don’t realize that versus and verses are two different words.

You could go over your musings a dozen times before hitting post (actually it’s Submit, not Post) and you wouldn’t notice the ‘verses’ mistake. My theory is you are missing a ‘language gene.’

If I wanted to waste my time I could point out a dozen other cases of words you get wrong… WRONG EVERY TIME! And they’re NOT typos. Believe me or not, I am trying to help you to not appear as stoopit as you do. It’s like my b-i-l Peter who STILL does not realize, or perhaps simply doesn’t give a shit, that ‘prostrate’ is not a bodily organ… Who STILL thinks the brick structure sticking up from a house’s roof is a ‘chimley.’ I am embarrassed to be in a group conversation where Peter is one of the group. What can I say I was not paying attention in English class…like ever!
One of the schools I went to as a young man half the graduates could not read a simple I am Sam book.

The funny part I read at least a book a week on average and most of them are technical in nature.

            My latest one in fact.

Enjoy read this and get back to me we can hash over the joys of using wireshark for deep packet analysis.

How about this I’m a lost cause AND most of all I don’t care let them under estimate me for sentence structure, grammar, and punctuation errors.

By the way mistakes like that are in now way an indication of intelligence or a lack of it.

            6. Albert Einstein
In Einstein’s defense, English was his second language. It’s therefore easy to understand why spelling and grammatical errors in his works were a constant source of frustration to the physicist. “I cannot write in English,” he said, “because of the treacherous spelling.”

Had an English major I was forced to work with in the NAVY who wrote perfectly and yet was dumb as dirt and could not do his job. Hey if you needed a resume written he was your guy but repair an an/sps-49 v4 and trouble shoot to component level no way. This piece of gear had 16 volumes at least as large as the bible.
I found a bad resistor in the high voltage cabinet that services the capacitors that pulled 50k watts from the air. Pain n the ass because you had to have a discharge probe attached to it at all times or it would straighten your hair and then burn it off without it. Problem was it also grounded out any and all signals going to the klystron.

            http://www.tscm.com/NEETS-v18-Radar.pdf

Hell this guy could not even trouble shoot down to the six packs in an an/wsk-3.

            http://www.navy-radio.com/manuals/et2-vol3-12413-1993.pdf

I have included both the neets mods I am sure If I handed you a busted piece of gear you could of course read them and repair them in short order?
Some how I doubt it in fact I doubt you could even put together the very computer you are reading this on.

            Embarrassing really.

By the way don’t be to hard on B.I.L. when he is gone you will miss him. Kid of like your kid miss pronouncing words as they grow up and out of it you miss certain aspects like fluh flys being french fries.

            Right on, benr.

Robert Lowell, one of the great poets of the 20th century, and perhaps the best, was a lyricist nonpareil. Impeccable style (and substance). A true virtuoso of the English language. Yet he could spell woth shit, and that’s OK. It’s what editors are for.

Conversely, I’ve read many people who could string together a sentence with perfect component parts, yet they had nothing to say.

            Q. slyly tried to conflate the written with the spoken word at the end of his post. But no one here who hasn’t met the other can assume the written infelicities match the verbal. And why would that be an assumption anyway?

One of the smartest guys I’ve ever known, a long-time friend who I haven’t seen in quite a while (the family moved) used to kid me, saying, “oh Christ! You’ve been in the dictionary again,” and I’d kid him right back by letting him know there was more than one word — “eh?” — to plead for agreement.

All good fun, but there’s always a hall moniter with a stick up his ass.

Regarding NZ’s “success” in the COVID Olympics, maybe being an island has something to do with it. Oceans make for fairly effective borders, wouldn’t you say? Maybe that, paired with the fact that there are only 5 million souls inhabiting 103,000 square miles (by way of comparison the state of Rhode Island, one of the smallest, has 1 million in 1200 square miles). And lastly, there is evidence that countries in the region may have some level of immunity due to exposure over the years to similar pathogens. At last counting NZ’s Asian population stood at about 15%.

      WAPO:

Tatsuhiko Kodama of the University of Tokyo said preliminary studies show that Japanese people’s immune systems tend to react to the novel coronavirus as though they had previous exposure, and notes that there are centuries of history of coronaviruses emerging from East Asia.

Not knowing much about macro economics, I wonder how it is the US Govt can come up with $900 billion for a stimulus package just like that. Where is the money coming from? And if money can just be created out of thin air, why do they bother with an income tax?

Where’s Biden? His last public appearance was a few days ago in front of no audience, just a moribund press conference to announce his ‘Climate Change Team’, triumphantly stating the team had no ‘White Males’ on it, and its goal was to “walk away from fossil fuels by 2030.”

I do not understand Chinese or other foreign involvement in the election. In fact I am sceptical. Isn’t the usual strategy (for those out just for their own ends) to back both candidates, as insurance? The Dems are deluded enough to do this all on their own, surely.

I had not heard of foreign ‘penetration’ of the power grid during the election but I do remember improbable allegations (which appear to have been believed at the time) that an East Coast power grid had been ‘hacked’. why anyone would want to do this puzzles me.

    • Yohannon December 21, 2020 at 12:39 pm #

Yes, cover all the numbers on the Roulette Wheel and you will win. It may be worth it if the payouts are big enough. Certainly funding both sides in a war insures you a seat at the table, be it Allied or German, North or South. But do you imagine that they didn’t care who won? They most certainly favored the Allies and in the Civil War, the North. The policies of those two favored the Capitalist Agenda, the other two would have retarded it greatly.

But how much better again to take control of the Casino and decide yourself who wins. Why leave things up to chance? Or to have to spend time and money hobnobbing with lesser being you despise?

      • Sean Coleman December 21, 2020 at 5:12 pm #

The early Church gave Him that birthday because the pagans always had a big celebration at this time of year and were unwilling to give their parties up.

  30. Roundball Shaman December 21, 2020 at 12:11 pm #

“And what of Kamala Harris… She acts like someone who knows something, and knows that the something she knows is not altogether a good something.”

It’s not a good something for us. It is a good something for her, as these (laughingly named) Public Servants always get their 30 pieces of silver first before selling their empty souls to the deep state devil. She may not get everything she wants. But she’ll get enough to keep that knowing-smirk on her soiled countenance for many years to come. She will do plenty of smiling and smirking in the days ahead. Not so for us.

“…we hurtle toward what’s likely to be the bluest Christmas in memory with the republic in the balance…”

This year — maybe more so than any other — we all need to have a great holiday season. Not just for the usual warm-hearted corny reasons, but as an act of defiance. Defiance against what? Defiance against the attacks that have been waged on us all year by a virus but even more so by all the many little dictators around America who think it’s their job to micro manage our lives down to the smallest detail. They tell us to sit home, not see our loved ones, and be miserable. How nice of them. We’ll do that just as soon as we see THEM sitting at home, not seeing their loved ones (and side interests), and sitting at home miserable. And that will be never.

So, maybe you’re not all that into the holidays this year or in general. Well, make a big change this year. Celebrate the living hell out of them. Send a big message that we’ve had enough of being bullied, dominated, abused, belittled, talked down to, and told who the damn “experts” are that we are supposed to bow down to and wash their feet and turn our lives over to.

Special holiday greetings back to our blog host who is one who still values his audience, still seeks truth, still allows honest feedback, still knows how to put “the words” together, and still (as I) seeks a true and modern passenger rail system for America. If they can conjure trillions upon trillions to bail out the Wall Street Bastards, they can do the same to finance and built a good rail system to compensate us for putting us all through a Year from Hell. Get to it, “Public Servants”.

We need to defy this insanity. They keep adding to the punishments that we did nothing to deserve, except exist.

They said lock down for 2 week. It’s now 8 months. They said mask up, and that made people sicker and of course made things worse. They said you can take off the mask when you get the vaxx. Now they say even when you get the vaxx we will still have lockdown and you still have to self-muzzle. Forever.

All over a virus that fizzled out in June. That’s when they started the ‘cases’ fearmongering, the next stage of the Covid Cult Religious indoctrination after the self-masking virtue signalling.

When we stand up and rip off the masks and go to church and stop ‘social distancing’ and ignore those petty tyrants, it’s OVER. Until then, we are in trouble.

Happy Winter Solstice! If Kamala Harris is unhappy I don’t feel sorry for her. She’s got a pretty smile but sometimes her facial expression is like a bitch-on-wheels. She wanted the job. When I was a freshman in high school my ego got in the way and I ran for sophomore class representative. I won the election. I hated the position and was miserable during the entire 10th grade. I might add I don’t feel sorry for all of the petulant, stressed out parents I see walking around Los Angeles, either. Didn’t they notice that society and the economy were starting to fall apart as far back as 2001 or 2008? They went ahead and had kids anyway? Their vision of the future was so bright that they decided to have children? I realize COVID is something of a black swan but it’s seemed obvious to me for a number of years now that the U.S. or global economy were heading for SOME kind of major disruption.

My zing was aimed primarily at young parents with infants and children in grade school. I realize my comment was harsh. Many of the young parents I encounter seem very arrogant (I live in Hollywood so that’s expected) and overwhelmed. They seem taken off-guard by the pandemic and they’re snippy as a result. Maybe the economy will muddle along for a few more decades and their dreams of family bliss will be fulfilled. It’s possible.

Yeah, my own kid was f#kkn up as a teenager, so I sent him out to Wyoming to work on a ranch and get his HS diploma at the same time.

Now he’s a Bitcoin millionaire, shows up here in an Escalade with a driver, smoking a Cuban cigar. I ask him who the hell do you think you are Fat Tony? He blows money like there’s no tomorrow and thinks it’s going to last forever.

Last spring tho he did drop off a nice Henry Big Boy .45-70 for the old man, compensation for all the BS I put up with over the years.

Right now Bitcoin is over $23000 so he’s riding high. I don’t understand where the value comes from to be honest with you.

Kid: ‘No-o-o-o-o… Like they have lots of big houses and cars and money!’
Dad: ‘Ohhh, you mean those kinds. Well, you see, sweetie, our society allows some people to make more money than other people, working no harder that anyone else. Society then allows those with more money to acquire more land than others. Over time, this creates the dynamic for most, if not all, problems we have in society today, from landlessness, homelessness and poverty, to social unrest, war and civilizational collapse.’
Kid: ‘Why does society allow that?!’
Dad: ‘Corruption. Society uses force to uphold the laws that say that one person with more money can have more land than another with less money.’
Kid: ‘Why can’t we stop that!?’
Dad: ‘Corruption again: This setup is upheld by people with guns and weapons, or access to them, like cops, security guards and military people– people who often don’t understand this basic and very simple immoral core of our society.’

The spelling fetus is the preferred spelling in the medical world, regardless of location. … Although even in these places the ‘fetus’ spelling is beginning to supersede the ‘foetus’ spelling. Indeed the spelling fetus is the etymologically correct one as it derives from the Latin term ‘fetus’ meaning “offspring”.

The Green New Deal is just a technocracy bullshit agenda that makes people feel like they are doing something. Lemme ask you, if the Dems like their ‘green’ sustainability narrative so much, why do they constantly contradict it? Small example, overnight without any scientific proof to back it up, in CA, Newsom undid years of fighting to get rid of plastic bags in grocery stores. They’re back! And being used 90% more because stores won’t allow customers to use their own bags because they might have the corona on them. The fomite thing was debunked months ago but the rule stands. Millions (billions?) more plastic bags in the oceans now, and think how much petroleum was used to make them.

Democrats are liars, they won’t make even one move toward any sustainabilty. The Paris Accord is a big joke – they all arrive in their private jets for starters. Please don’t tell me you fall for all that.

” Mercola is a member of the political advocacy group Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, which promotes scientifically discredited views about medicine and disease, and several other alternative medicine organizations.[7]

Mercola’s medical claims have been criticized by the medical, scientific, regulatory, and business communities. A 2006 BusinessWeek editorial stated his marketing practices relied on “slick promotion, clever use of information, and scare tactics.”[4] In 2005, 2006, and 2011, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned Mercola and his company that they were making illegal claims for their products’ ability to detect, prevent, and treat disease.[8] The medical watchdog site Quackwatch has criticized Mercola for making “unsubstantiated claims [that] clash with those of leading medical and public health organizations and many unsubstantiated recommendations for dietary supplements.”[9] Of Mercola’s marketing techniques, oncology surgeon David Gorski says it “mixes the boring, sensible health advice with pseudoscientific advice in such a way that it’s hard for someone without a medical background to figure out which is which.”

I always love it when idiots try to impress others with a literary reference, and end up falling face first into the ditch.

Did you ever read King Lear? If so, I doubt you understood the first thing about it. Lear undergoes a fall, based on pride and vanity, but, true to Aristotle’s definition of tragedy, also undergoes a corresponding spiritual ascent alongside his practical and political decline. By the play’s end, he is spiritually victorious even in his anguish and lamentation.

I won’t make any parallels with Trump, but it’s at least in the same direction, completely opposite of your ignorant association.

How very erudite of you! Yes, I HAVE read The Tragedy of King Lear but you read too deeply into a casual comment that referred to only one scene. From Sparks Notes:

            Summary: Act 3, scene 2
Meanwhile, Lear wanders around in the storm, cursing the weather and challenging it to do its worst against him. He seems slightly irrational, his thoughts wandering from idea to idea but always returning to fixate on his two cruel daughters. The Fool, who accompanies him, urges him to humble himself before his daughters and seek shelter indoors, but Lear ignores him.

Guess who The Fool might be.

This is irrelevant to your associational Trump-hating reference.

Lear on the blasted heath does not translate, temporally, to Trump having just had a massive fraud perpetrated against him (and the country — Shakespeare is always political, to varying extents). You’ve got the timeline all wrong.

Since you say you’ve read the play, what Act, Scene, and line(s) would you say corresponded to Nov 4?

Some people get allergies this time of year and one of the symptoms for that is a nasal drip down ones throat and a cough.
I have a coworker that has been fighting that issue for years and I never really noticed it.
This year it looms very large for the people around us.
I listened to him explain it at least half a dozen times today.
It was suggested he should go home till it clears up.
Being the smart ass I am I suggested it clears up end of spring going into summer and comes right back in the fall.
At which point I started clearing my throat and pretend coughing as well.

What to look for in 2021- No prosecutions for any of the Russian collusion/ impeachment hoaxes, The Biden family corruption will be swept under the rug, no prosecution for Hillary’s emails, or the Uranium one/ Clinton foundation scams. In ‘The Long Emergency”, JHK wrote about how one of the “features” of the long emergency would be the increasing irrelevancy/impotence of the federal government. This is likely how it happens- Why should any ordinary citizen be accountable, when none of the government elite are? Make no mistake, tens of millions of ordinary Americans who never thought that they would find themselves in this position, are now thinking of quiet non-confrontational ways to resist whatever cockamamie schemes come out of Washington. One big one that immediately comes to mind is whatever gun bans/confiscation they come up with. I can’t wait to see what they do when 100 million gun owners throw up a giant middle finger to that.

There is something strange happening beneath the bubbling muck of Washington. The swamp is churning. The creatures that dwell in the slime are writhing. One wonders if some may be trying to escape.

We have a glimpse of what is happening in the mire thanks to Patrick Byrne, the founder and former CEO of Overstock.com, who left the company last year. He’s published a lengthy article on his DeepCapture.com website describing how the election was stolen for Joe Biden.

Byrne attended a meeting at the White House last Friday with President Trump, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, attorney Sidney Powell, and White House staff. Byrne has posted photos as proof, and the fact that he was there was confirmed Sunday by a New York Times reporter.

What is remarkable is that Byrne has been disclosing publicly what was discussed. This is highly unusual. Excerpts from what he’s been posting on Twitter over the weekend about the meeting, which he says lasted from 7:30pm until just after midnight:

My involvement is I was in the room when it happened. The raised voices included my own. I can promise you: President Trump is being terribly served by his advisers. They want him to lose and are lying to him. He is surrounding by mendacious mediocrities.

[President Trump is] too nice. There were three men caught in lies right in front of his face. If I had been he, there are three men I would’ve fired on the spot. General Counsel Pat Cippolone wants him to lose and is lying to him. 100% sure.

[The advisors are] Pat Cippollone and two other lawyers. Eric and Derek. [White House chief of staff Mark Meadows] wants him to concede and transition also.

In addition, any suggestion if there was talk of a military coup or martial law is also a flat lie. 100% false. I was there for 4 1/2 hours, I heard the entire conversation, that is a 100% fabrication.

I was there for the full 4.5 hour meeting. Claims military coup/martial law were discussed is 100% fabrication. Trump is lied to by his own advisers, who tell staff “get the president to concede“ while they stall Trump. Meadows + Lawyers Eric, Derek, GC Pat Cippollone (leaker).

I’m not afraid of these weasels. A greasy slickster like Pat Cippollone leaks lies to the NYT. I tell the truth publicly.

[President Trump] wants to fight on. They are bending over backwards to come up with reasons to tell him he can’t do anything. He needs to fire them all or he loses. Too nice. Thinks he will look bad in press. Nonsense like that.

He truly believe he won and he truly did win. I did not vote for him, but I don’t want to see our country hijacked in a psyop.

It is 100% winnable. No martial law required. Sydney and Flynn presented a course that I estimate has 50% – 75% chance of victory. His staff just try to convince him to do nothing but accept it. As a CEO, my heart broke to see what he is going through. He is betrayed from within.

Meadows and legal staff led by GC Cippolone reflexively shoot down every sober discussion or idea presented. Their frame of mind is automatic: “we better not try that, it may not work, it would hurt your reputation in the press…“ No kidding, they say stuff like that. Tell DJT.

For the first time in my life I feel sorry for Donald Trump. He is standing up to his waist in snakes. Trust Rudy and Sidney only.

I was just referring to White House group. I trust Lin [Wood] also. And most of all, Mike Flynn.

The White House legal team seem like scheming mediocrities worrying about not getting invited to the right parties unless they convince Trump to concede. Surrender -monkeys. Rudy and his people are strong. SIDNEY and flynn are fighters.

To summarize: Patrick Byrne is a Libertarian, not a Republican, and did not vote for Trump. But because he has been publicly criticizing election fraud and championing democracy, he was invited to Friday’s meeting. At that meeting, Flynn and Powell “presented a course” of action, but they’re being sabotaged by the sludge-dwelling swamp creatures who think their careers will be advanced if the president quits.

It’s possible, of course, that Byrne is exaggerating or misrepresenting, but he has no obvious motive to do so. Powell subsequently retweeted Byrne’s summary, which we can take as independent confirmation. The most likely scenario is that Byrne has a personal interest in combating the deep state creatures, and is wealthy enough to have the time and means to do it. A suite at the Trump International may be secure, but it’s not cheap.

The question is what Flynn and Powell proposed to the president. The New York Times reported over the weekend, citing an anonymous source, that “part of the White House meeting on Friday night was a discussion about an executive order to take control of voting machines to examine them.” Even after allowing for bias from the newspaper’s Democrat activists posing as reporters, and self-interest on the part of the anonymous leaker, this hints at one possibility.

It’s consistent with what Flynn and Powell have been saying publicly. Flynn told Newsmax on Thursday: “[The president] could immediately on his order seize every single one of these machines around the country on his order. He could also order, within the swing states, if he wanted to, he could take military capabilities and he could place them in those states and basically rerun an election in each of those states. It’s not unprecedented.”

Powell has said: “Impound the machines for immediate forensic inspections. If there was no fraud, the #Left should welcome it!” Former NYPD commissioner Bernard Kerik endorsed this as well. Trump said Sunday: “Martial law = Fake News.”

This sounds like it might be an important news story. The former CEO of a publicly traded billion-dollar company is saying publicly what was discussed when he met with the president. Byrne’s father is credited with turning around Geico in the 1970s, and the family has counted Warren Buffett as a close friend. But instead our purported journalists are treating us to investigative articles like This Is How The Biden Family Celebrates Christmas.

There are no outside signs of a concession. Trump advisor Dan Scavino posted on Facebook on Saturday: “FYSA—President Trump will not be conceding.” FYSA means For Your Situational Awareness. Powell was spotted at the White House again Sunday evening, though she reportedly did not meet with the president this time. The Trump campaign filed its paperwork Sunday before the U.S. Supreme Court challenging the Pennsylvania election process. And the Arizona GOP is being unusually mysterious.

About an hour and a half after Friday evening’s meeting ended, Trump tweeted: “Big protest in D.C. on January 6th. Be there, will be wild!” January 6 is the date of the joint session of Congress at 1 p.m., at which the Vice President will open “all the certificates and papers purporting to be certificates of the electoral votes.”

The most mysterious line is what Byrne wrote a day before the meeting at the White House: “I am indeed confident we win…. if the President signs one piece of paper.”

By now we can hazard some guesses about what that “one piece of paper” might be. As for whether it will be signed, Trump does not seem willing to let the tentacular swamp creatures win so easily.

Americans should plan to show up in force in Washington on January 6, 2021 at 1 p.m. This is one swamp that isn’t going to drain itself.

    Normal American Blog.

Yoho: What is the piece of paper? The Insurrection Act? Maybe signing at the podium in front of hundreds of thousands?

Go Big or go home. Don’t be like Burt Lancaster in “Seven Days in May”. If you win, you will be a hero. If you lose, you will be a heel, whether you act or don’t act. And you can only win by acting Bigly.

Big cheating scandal at West Point. During an online test (they’re afraid of Covid), 75 made the same mistake on the same question. That’s how they caught them.

On that note, is it convincing or otherwise when major journalists across America use the same exact line on the same day? It almost seems like cheating…..

      Yo,
As I understand it, all the service academies now have the equivalent of “diversity-hires”…invariably athletes…masquerading as Cadets. The Air Force Academy supposedly keeps them sequestered in residence halls at the edge of their Colorado campus. At one time Prep Academies existed for the same purpose, but never on the Academy grounds.

          https://www.newsmax.com/us/westpoint-military-exam-cheating/2020/12/21/id/1002647/

Now the Academy, where the rule once was “You Lie, you Die”, is now providing a second chance…academic probation. This is a gentler, more humane approach towards our “rough men who stand ready…”

“Alright, you goddamned cheatin’ bastards, we are now changing the motto to…”We will not condone lying nor
cheating, nor tolerate those who do…more than once! And if caught a second time, it will be DOUBLE SECRET PROBATION! Really, we mean it this time!”

    @benr:

    Re your post above:

I never knew I had a Boston accent until I went off to college in the midwest. My fellow students made fun of my accent; I didn’t know why; after all I spoke English just like them. When I went back home to visit during Thanksgiving my freshman year, after 3 months in the Midwest, I was amazed to hear people talk with a Boston accent!

That 1st year in college, I got fixed up with a girl named Barb (Barbara). So I call her up and a man answers. I ask for Barb and he says I’m Barb. I didn’t know what to say, thinking they fixed me up with a guy, shit! I asked kind of tremulously, you’re Barbara? The guy says, oh Barbara, Barb is my daughter, my name is Bob. To the father, he’s thinking I’m asking for Bob, him, but what I’m saying is Barb without the ‘r’. To me, there was quite a difference between Bahhb and Bob, but not to him.

That was when I first realized I really did have a Boston accent.

Gosh! It’s really too bad you didn’t have time to tell your tales given its the longest night of the year and all and there is all of this extra storytelling time and so forth. Did the tilde prevent you from remembering to return a seasonal greeting or appreciate the spirit of the season? I simply can ‘t imagine you being so insensitive and dispassionate. How many tildes have given you pause over the years Q and disarmed the logical advancements of your thought processes? And what have you learned in your moral struggles with the tildes?

For some reason when I hear about borogroves I think about Fraggle Rock lol. No clue why although the list of creatures sounds good..borogroves, fraggles, doozers, and gorgs. I just get the sense that Q lives in the luxury of being in a third person or narrator role when it comes to reality. It never seems to affect him directly and so thus he is able to maintain a cool and detached tone even in times of kinetic crisis. And he enjoys watching it all unfold and even testing things. If I didn’t know any better I would think that he was one of the Strangers from the movie Dark City. But I could just be giving way to my vivid imagination.

Because they’re fucking cowards who put money, success, and career above all else. Left/Right – one beast system. Was it Kushchev who said the Capitalists would sell them the rope to hang to them? But even that is old school. The Capitalists funded the Communists (Bankers) and now the rest of Capitalism (Corporations) have caught up. As for old school Capitalism? It behaves itself or it goes. Or maybe it just goes.

America is poisoned at its source because it puts its faith in an at best amoral system of economics – and pretended that it was the acme of virtue. Now that system is full grown and seeks to take over. It never spread morality in China as expected, and now it is taking remaining morality out of our system.

Where is Joe? He was on Colbert a few nights ago, then just got the vaccine today. That’s plenty of limelight for me. I’d rather he stay out the virus’ way and not get infected, stick to his planning and prep, and not be a grandstanding, super-spreader blowhard.

You know, pretty much the opposite of Trump. Which is what I voted for.

And y’all are surprised Biden won fair and square? Really? Trump lost the popular vote in 2016 and that was when hardly anybody was excited about Hillary, but still got complacent thinking she had it.

This time around, after four years of Trump, I cannot express how motivated we were to vote. (And yet we didn’t feel the need to express our motivation by crowding into rallies during a pandemic, go figure.)

And you think that judge after right-wing Trump-appointed judge throwing out Rudy’s motions for lack of evidence is not an indication of, you know, lack of evidence in the eyes of the law? But it’s instead is an indication of all those judges have been turned, or were in on some conspiracy all along? And Mitch too, and now Barr?

You think the deeply conservative Supreme Court is in on some kind of anti-Trump scheme?

And you think Democrats orchestrated some giant, intricate conspiracy but neglected to take the Senate while they were at it? And lost seats in the House while they were at it?

    Really?

Trump lost this election, just like he would have lost the last one if Hillary wasn’t such a crap candidate, or if people had taken him seriously. Because most people, outside of his reality-averse true believers, really don’t like the guy.

Jim, I’m so disappointed. Back in the day I listened to every one of your podcasts, some multiple times. They were an absolute guiding light. I considered it a great honor to have been one of your question-of-the-week callers! And then I read all your World Made by Hand books. They presented a vision that haunts me to this day. But lately every visit to this site is like a journey deeper and deeper into the right-wing whackadoo conspiracy-theory fever swamp.

To the point I have to wonder if everything I ever picked up from you about the value of traditional towns and urban forms is questionable information to be given a thorough second look. I mean, all info should be questioned anyway, but I trusted you more then, and far less now.

You’re still entertaining of course, always a great read. But it’s the natural appeal of someone who believes his own word is gospel, and without the complications of fact-checking, cited sources, or the slightest bit of second-guessing.

I admire your confidence, but I’ve come to think it’s not earned.

    Be well, and stay safe.

          BRH,

It’s Macbeth. Of course it’s one of Shakespeare’s three or four most famous quotes, so it often appears reflexively. I doubt QAint has even read Macbeth’s first act.

I just made a fool out of FreddieMars upthread, when he referenced King Lear, in which the association proved the opposite to the point he wanted to make.

Likewise, in QAint’s Macbeth quote, it’s funny to note that those words were uttered by Macbeth just before he was murdered, were not Shakespeare’s own “views” on anything, and, if one wanted to go deeper into the context of it, proved that nihilism and destruction put you in a shitty headspace, and led to your own destruction. There’s a party of careerist hacks and criminals who are far closer to that philosophy than whatever Trump has or hasn’t done.

Interesting that QAint left out the directly preceding quote, which, humorously, can be used against Biden:

“Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more.”

          Soul F.,

Allow me to translate for you what freetrapper actually means when he says he is “pretty bored by this page anymore.” It has NOTHING to do with boredom at all. He is delivering a fake yawn. What he really means is that, like almost every human, he takes great pleasure in having his own biases confirmed. It is terrible being around people who think nothing like yourself. And when all of a sudden (or what seems to be sudden although Jim’s slow 180 took about 2 years to fully unfold) Jim concludes publicly that he must vote for the triple G orange oaf because the dems have proved themselves to be so abominable. I think Jim still believes Trump is a bit of an idiot but he has come to admire certain aspects of his horrible narcissistic persona, one being his incredible stamina.

No, freetrapper is not bored at all. I assure you he is here every Monday and Friday with bells on hoping to see that Jim has come to his senses.

Perhaps, but was he a big JHK fan from before two years ago? I don’t know that, but I’ve noted that there are an awful lot of recent troll accounts that all say basically the same thing: “I used to really love Jim, and bought his ‘The Geography To Nowhere.’ He should get back to that. He’s lost his mind.”

    • King of Comedy December 22, 2020 at 12:36 pm #

Everyone’s entitled to his/her opinion but I think you may be missing the point.

Trump was most definitely a flawed candidate and president. I voted more against him in 2016 than for Clinton but in 2020, the narrative flipped. A flawed candidate was (and is) a better choice than the side cheering on the “mostly peaceful”protests, preaching the niceties of socialism, and through barely regulated immigration, Balkanizing the country. Biden may not be 100% behind any of those things but he is most certainly a fellow traveller. I’m definitely not the only one who put the personality contest aside and voted based on agenda.

As far as electoral fraud goes, I am largely in agreement. There are things that are anomalous and shady in appearance at the very least but at some point concrete evidence has to be presented. The way this election was structured lends itself to the appearance of impropriety and its design may well preclude the revelation of concrete evidence of fraud, reality still has to mean something. You back the party of conversion therapy & sterilizing children (the trans agenda); you back the party of pedo Joe’s lead grooming children into fetish (see: the new sex ed at 3 years old; available child porn, prostitution hawked as ‘sex work’ and made something to aspire to); the party of women-hate (see: trans agenda where men now can go into our safe spaces); and the party of WAR. Trump started no wars. Obama started 7, and turned Libya into a slave state. I guess Gaddafi got too progressive and independent for Obama/Clinton’s liking. I could go on and on about how badly Obama finished off this country and the middle class. Trump at least put the final push over the cliff off for 4 years. I’m kinda grateful for that. I am also an ex-Democrat, ex-lefty, ex-liberal, and have left the party for good (in 2016 when the DNC rigged the election against Sanders just as they have here against Trump). Since I know the majority of my recently lefty friends voted for Trump, and he had 90K people at his rallies, in addition to a 28 mile line waiting to get into one, and Biden couldnt’ fill a broom closet, it’s obvious Trump won even more BIGLY than he did in 2016. To people who aren’t blinded by Covid19/Transagenda/antiracism/blm/antifa/Democrat group-think, these things are apparent. But not those – like you – caught in its throes. JHK, like many of us, retained our same moral standards while you Democrats went berzerkers. You went along with the indoctrination, those of us who weren’t brainwashed by CNN and MSDNC did not. Therein lies the difference. Not sure why you dumped your Rachel Maddow talking points here, maybe just because you’re bitter or just maybe, you are a little uncomfortable with the cognitive dissonance you are forced to carry around, or the double-think that the Democrats require of their cult is just making you feel confused, but you voted for a senile pedophile, and you think that is something to brag about in public… which is sad, and shows just how extensive the indoctrination is. All I can do is pity you.

Enjoy your holidays! Oh wait you won’t be able to eat or drink because of the self-muzzling. Well, the rest of us sane people will celebrate as usual, sans muzzle, sans social distancing, and realizing we have functioning immune systems. And if/when Biden is illegally and immorally installed, we will fight him and his intelligence agency’s goons’ agenda every step of the say. No one is taking this affront sitting down.

I have been a fan since the fall of 1996, when I read your article in The Atlantic. That was based on your book Home From Nowhere.

I recall, a few days after the election in November 2016, at coffee with some friends, how shocked and depressed they were that Hillary Clinton had lost.

As I look at what a Biden presidency could mean, in particular the opening of our border to millions of third-world immigrants, I can understand how my Hillary-supporter friends felt.

There are still ways for Trump to win, so I have not given up.

When was the discontinuation implemented, out of interest?

FDA statement of 6 days ago says

“Ivermectin is an important part of a parasite control program for certain species and should only be given to animals for approved uses or as prescribed by a veterinarian in compliance with the requirements for extra-label drug use. Due to potentially elevated interest in ivermectin following the new research, some products may not be available. If you are having difficulty locating a particular ivermectin product for your animal(s), the FDA recommends that you consult with your veterinarian. ”

Not saying the claim isn’t true but there is no proper source information offered here for it for it other than hearsay, as far as I can see. Who is ‘S’? Who is the ‘supplier’? I can’t see any independent verification of the claim from an internet search. In fact, clinical trials seem to be underway (still at recruitment stage) to look into potential benefits to Covid patients, as far as I can see from this:

      https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04602507

Although it seems to have side effects (neurological in this instance) worthy of note, like most things.

You admit the testing is fucko, but you think that is by accident? And I’m (add italics) pathetic?

Or they suddenly make an old and needed animal medicine unavailable because people became aware it help with Covid?

C’mon maan! Will you try a little harder?

          • GreenAlba December 23, 2020 at 12:06 pm #

“You admit the testing is fucko, but you think that is by accident? And I’m (add italics) pathetic?”

I don’t need to ‘admit’ anything. Acknowledging that the test is not 100% accurate (which is a different concept from whatever percentage ‘fucko’ equates to) is merely my long-held acknowledgement that medicine is not all-powerful magic. And because I know about the trade-off between specificity and sensitivity. So I don’t think it is by accident, and I don’t think it is deliberate. I think, given how the things work, that it is inevitable and probably impossible to totally remedy. Just as physical pain in humans is impossible to totally remedy, because it just is.

“Or they suddenly make an old and needed animal medicine unavailable because people became aware it help with Covid?”

That is the hypothesis you have yet to prove. So stop pretending it’s proven. If it is proven that it actually happened – and specifically for that reason you have a case and a valid point. You are not yet even at the stage of having proved that it actually happened.

The people running the clinical trials for its possible use against Covid seem unaware of its discontinuance, since they are still recruiting. Although they presumably use the tablets and not the paste that says ‘for animal use’ anyway.

A recent paper demonstrated that simple, cheap-as-chips, over-the-counter aspirin is helpful in lowering deaths and serious illness – I linked to it recently and have it bookmarked if you want to see it. Why aren’t they discontinuing aspirin and hiding the study instead of plastering it over the MSM?

Actually I don’t think you want to see it. You’re about rhetoric, not solutions, and you don’t care if it’s even true.

Now who does that remind me of?

“Most smiling and smooth, detested parasites,

I come here to watch in awesome disbelief at just how fucked up the thinking of the Trump cultists is becoming. Every time I think it can’t get any crazier, it does.

Just read, Freddie, Trump & Giuliani, in a last ditch super effort, are gonna present their case to Judge Judy, in the hopes getting a favorable ruling in the massive voter fraud case.

          • FreddieMars December 22, 2020 at 7:42 pm #

Judge Judy is a no-nonsense, Republican-style straight-shooter. I’m guessing she won’t be impressed. Perhaps she will consult with Judge Wapner? A similar result is to be expected.

Well, it appears that Roman Catholics are going to have to decide whether to follow God or men.

    https://www.rt.com/news/510346-vatican-vaccines-fetal-ethical/

The Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) said in a statement released on Monday that it was ethical for Roman Catholics to use coronavirus vaccines that have used cell lines from aborted fetuses.

In the document approved by Pope Francis on 17 December, the doctrinal congregation said that all vaccinations recognized as clinically safe and effective can be used, “with the certain knowledge that the use of such vaccines does not constitute formal cooperation with the abortion.”

The Catholic Church approves the use of vaccines produced with cell lines derived from two fetuses aborted in the 1960s, Vatican News said.

“It is morally acceptable to receive Covid-19 vaccines that have used cell lines from aborted fetuses in their research and production process.”

        Q,
Yes, the qualified explanations allow. Let us now get back to how many angles can dance on the head of a pin….

        • elysianfield December 23, 2020 at 11:15 am #

    • KesaAnna December 22, 2020 at 8:52 pm #

Grr , you want to get me started again ?

I’ve always thought we set foot on the road to perdition when they started putting secular state flags in Churches.

It was maybe bad enough when it was the flag of the HRE , or the King of France.

But the flags of regimes in which there is not even one major official anointed by a Bishop ?

And tell me Mr. Protestant , where did you expect all of that to end ?

I’m reminded of the Swedish Martin Luther ; ( I forget the guys name. )

Once a Catholic Bishop , he assisted the King of Sweden in breaking with Rome.

But sometimes there is justice in the world.

Less than ten years after helping the King of Sweden break with Rome , he had a disagreement with the King of Sweden and wouldn’t shut up.

      Finally the King of Sweden sent him his orders ;

      ( Loosely paraphrasing )

” What , do you think I broke with Rome so some Priest could tell me what is what ?

Shut up and go away OR ELSE ! ”

And that was the end of that Priests career.

I gotta admit , the memory always makes me chuckle.

Well , the Catholic Churches anti – abortion campaign has always annoyed me.

      Not because I endorse abortion , I don’t .

But for the simple reason that they won’t call regimes that legalize abortion genocidal regimes.

Maybe you would call that being tactful ? Maybe you would call that avoiding extreme language ?

I call it talking wishy – washy , no one ultimately will take you seriously , so your pro – life marches are predictably a waste of time.

You HAVE TO call them genocidal regimes , and you HAVE TO call the average voter / citizen a Nazi.

You might lose even a catastrophic degree of popularity in the short term , but long term that’s your life boat , like it or not.

      • KesaAnna December 22, 2020 at 9:08 pm #

Anyway , I’m not sure why the latest pronouncement of the Inquisition suddenly makes Catholics godless atheists ?

Surely Protestants and Catholics alike must have noticed that ” Gott Mitt Uns ” or , ” In God We Trust ” was bullshit when Catholic Princes hired Protestant armies , and Protestant Princes hired Catholic armies , to fight the 30 years war ? Surely by then ?

And in America , surely you noticed something was amiss when on Monday it was , ” God save the King ! ” and by Tuesday it was , ” Well , never mind a thousand years of anointed kings ! ”

Or , when you turned from killing a few smallpox – riddled Animist Aborigines , to total war against your fellow citizens and fellow Christians in 1861 ?

      • Yohannon December 23, 2020 at 2:37 am #

Huxley said that basically the new Order, that of Nations and modern Europe, arose with the Treaty of Westphalia. Religions were never again to have the same influence.

What you say is similar to Edmund Burke who could not forgive England and the other Nations of Europe for accepting the murderous New Republic brought in by the French Revolution. They were scum to be isolated and treated with contempt until they could be overthrown. If you failed once, you kept trying until you succeeded.

Nothing great is achieved without the god within (en-theos) or enthusiasm. Until it is achieved and the sceptics are silenced and the enemies conquered, it is called fanaticism.

    • Mike Roberts December 23, 2020 at 4:59 am #

Absolutely. Such a power should be used sparingly but now we see that Trump thinks he knows who was justly convicted and who wasn’t, regardless of the court case. He even says as much using phrases such as “the wrong[s] … inflicted” by the legal process.

      • rocket8 December 23, 2020 at 7:29 am #

So how do the posters here square with these pardons . ?

        • benr December 23, 2020 at 10:38 am #

Better question is why did he pardon Blackwater aka XE aka who knows what that outfit calls themselves now? Academi

Is someone trying to curry favor or just get lower rates for services to be rendered in the near future?

To answer your question I’m good with it 13 years for shooting people in a war.
I see no difference in a combat situation of that sort since they used children all the time to carry bombs, scout and shoot at you.

          • mccobb December 23, 2020 at 12:20 pm #

They were a convoy in a traffic circle. Gun trucks at the front and rear had 7.62 caliber guns. There had been an explosion near-by. More gun trucks arrived at the traffic circle. The last to arrive panicked. It opened fire on a white car driving toward them, driven a med student, and they kept firing because the car was still moving. Although the student’s head was blown off his foot was on the gas pedal. His mother, a doctor, was killed after the car caught on fire. The car following the white car had six people inside, a man, his sister, and four children. Only the man survived. You tell me, did those who died deserve to die, in a city traffic circle, in the middle of the day?

          • benr December 23, 2020 at 12:36 pm #

            @mccobb

Deserve has NOTHING to do with anything.

            That is the point.

People die in wars period end of story.
Young old and everything in between.
This kinder gentler sort of war is a joke.
Did they worry about kids when they fire bombed dresden?
How about when they dropped nukes on Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
Do the Sunnis give a shit when they bomb a Shiite mosque or vice versa?

It’s sad how crimes are justified apparently because others commit crimes, so it’s OK to commit crimes, even murder. It’s pathetic how some are willing to jettison all morals in order to continue supporting a deranged president. Hopefully, JHK will come to his senses in the new year.

        • Yohannon December 23, 2020 at 11:42 am #

America was won by force and fraud, as Israel was – as was the Dakotas by the Sioux. The latter got their asses kicked by the Cree and were being forced out of the Northern Woods. They sent scouts out onto the Plains to suss out the situation. They presented themselves as lone refugees seeking food, warmth, and shelter. Easy to do since they were alone, hungry, cold and seeking shelter. The Tribes were mostly weak and the Scouts reported back and it was a Go.

See how life works? We need hardened Patriots like the Blackwaters – or we’ll be speaking Mandarin Ebonics in a generation. One doesn’t expect Mary to understand these things, but you’re a man. You are expected to get it.

        • Wizard of the Saddle December 23, 2020 at 11:26 pm #

Well…….at this point we have established pretty firmly that almost NO Democrat of any serious national standing goes to jail anymore because they get a pass from the Leftwing media, corrupt judges, and our toothless Justice Department.

Republicans, on the other hand, get the Gestapo treatment, with the knock on the door in the middle of the night by heavily armed SWAT teams. Once in custody, the railroading process begins. No expense is spared. No skullduggery and abuse of judicial process is too shameful to be employed to secure a conviction and a long sentence of incarceration.

With our new dual justice system there is only one answer: If Democrat crooks go free, then Republican crooks (and railroaded non-crooks prosecuted for their political beliefs) must also go free. Trump is re-leveling the playing field by neutralizing these political prosecutions that are, quite frankly, poisonous to our republic.

This nation will not endure for much longer if each side believes that the consequence of losing an election is that the winners will toss the losers and all of their supporters in prison. This has to stop. Pardons are a way to demonstrate the futility of criminalizing political disagreements. As such, I deem this a justified use of the presidential pardoning power.

      • Night Owl December 24, 2020 at 8:17 am #

Trump has the fewest pardons of any US president in history.

Between this and the Corona Con, you are really, really bad with numbers and stats.

      Rocket,
Wars kill children. All wars. Every war. Without fail.

I would suggest that there are many other issues that you might invest your time and emotions upon…like babies born with crooked backs, for example.

Crooked backs? God must have made a mistake. Shall we grant him a pardon? Will you be reviled if you do?

      • benr December 23, 2020 at 12:37 pm #

        Exactly.

        • mccobb December 23, 2020 at 4:35 pm #

Any soldier or Blackwater contractor who killed innocent civilians including four children would be toast, not hardened. He must have an unfathomable well of PTSD nightmares to deal with.

You can rationalize war as hell as a way to give permission to cowardice, but war is won by acts of bravery. Work out the massacre’s consequences. New life is breathed into the insurgency, American lives are lost from acts of revenge, and Iraq wants Blackwater out of the country. This event was one more reason why we lost in Iraq, and all those brave soldiers died in vain.

          • elysianfield December 23, 2020 at 6:17 pm #

            mccobb ,
Well, I am not a combat veteran, but I would give much credence to any Marine or doggy wearing a CIB who made comments on the incident. I would suggest that the fog of war provides many shades of gray. There might have been untoward considerations, skewed media, Political Correctness, etc. I have no qualms regarding the pardon.

What you suggest regarding the political ramifications is correct. I never, however, suggested heroism or cowardice played a part in the incident.

I would further suggest that I, and perhaps you yourself, do not know any more about combat than we do about fornication (thank you GSP).

PS…I am not in any way impugning you…I am sure you are a great fornicator….
