If we can agree on nothing else, you must grant that Western Civ needs to have its head examined. The war of Israel upon Gaza springs from the vast limbic netherworld where all the phantoms, myths, gods, and devils abide. What’s going on in the Bible lands now is a demonstration that the wrath of Yahweh is a match for the wrath of Allah. The West appears to abhor this battle, as it derives from the deepest and darkest sector of the West’s own psychology — a place the West fears to go. Having spurned the Judeo-Christian God lo these many decades, the West is horrified to see that dreadful figure step back onstage hurling lightning bolts and roaring.
Western Civ is like a Sarah Lawrence grad with a nose-ring, trained up to despise her own history and culture, trafficking with the incubi of barbarism — the romance of “edginess” — while playing with razor blades in anticipation of her own glorious suicidal psychodrama. There, I have explained The New York Times and The New Yorker Magazine to you, and thus exactly what is wrong with them trying to explain the world to you.
There is, of course, endless and seemingly irreconcilable misunderstanding between Western Civ and its adversaries, but the salient point of the current world mess is a failure to comprehend the meaning of Never Again. And among the many ironies of recent years is that the state-of-mind calling itself Progressive Globalism is obsessed with eradicating boundaries while the two crisis points of the present moment broke out precisely because boundaries were violated.
Whatever you think of Mr. Putin — and I refuse to join the stupid ritual chorus of his supposed “thuggery” — he couldn’t have made it clearer to the USA and its Euroland sisters that Russia would not accept Ukraine as a NATO member, right up against its border — meaning that NATO would be able to base missiles, bombers, and troops there. You may have lost count of how many times Russia has been invaded across the vast plain of Ukraine, but the Russians have not forgotten and their attitude about it is synonymous with the phrase Never Again. What part of that did the USA, Germany, France, and the rest not understand?
Yet they undertook this deranged project to arm poor Ukraine to the teeth — a people who have shown no aptitude for war, historically trampled over, with deeply schizoid allegiances to whomever dominates them from one century to the next — and sent it on a suicide mission that is now nearly complete. You understand that the sacrificial suicide of Ukraine for no good reason is just an enactment of Western Civ’s own apparent suicidal wish fulfillment. Like I said: this is a dark and deep psychodrama.
Accordingly, the West affects to be chagrined by Israel’s refusal to join the West’s new gnostic suicide cult. Here, too, is a failure to comprehend the phrase Never Again. We know where that succinct slogan comes from — the West’s previous suicide attempt, 1939 to 1945, in the course of which the annihilation of Europe’s Jews was a featured set-piece. And when Western Civ finally woke from this nightmare war, all the contesting nations were mortified by what had happened, including especially Germany, the nation that perpetrated that particular enormity.
And so, the new supposedly world-saving organization, the United Nations, that cohered after that cataclysm — led, of course by the victors of the Second World War — felt obliged to create a State of Israel in the Bible lands where so long ago, past memory for many in the modern world, there was a place called Israel where the Jews once dwelt. That was Zion, Jerusalem and its precincts, and it was the long-held wish of the Jews scattered about the world to return to Zion, and that is all that the term Zionist means — despite the attempts of the many other Semitic tribes in the region, and their demented allies in the Ivy League — to color it as some sort of demonic host out to swindle the world.
Western Civ, driven by the Progressive Globalist suicide cult, wishes to dissociate itself from Israel now while jihadis seek mayhem and murder in the streets of Berlin, Paris, London, Milan, Amsterdam and even the little towns of the provinces. And in the USA, too. The governments of Western Civ refuse to stop the flood of migrants pouring out of North Africa, the Middle East, and myriad stans of the greater Asian Stans-land. The USA, too, with its long borders being violated at a fantastic scale with the consent of “Joe Biden” & Co. It’s as though they are intent on allowing Western Civ to be overrun and defeated.
Israel, being part of Western Civ, in some ways the beating heart of its heritage, is also deeply conflicted in its own politics. But Mr. Netanyahu refuses to join the suicide cult, to the great consternation of so many inside and outside Israel. He could not be more alone among all the other elected heads of Western Civ nations. Even “Joe Biden” is ragging on him. But hark, as it is said in Western Civ — especially this Christmas season — as in something momentous approacheth. Just in one week past, Argentina elected an anti-Globalist, Javier Milei, by a huge margin, and the Netherlands elected (surprise) a party led by Geert Wilders quite vocally disenchanted with Jihad in his country. Something is up. Mark my words: Germany is next. Western Civ is going to get its mind right after all.
America’s psychodrama has been equally deep and dreadful as Europe’s, but we are heading toward our own political reckoning, and many here have had enough of a life without boundaries in every sense of the word. “Joe Biden” has been the perfect embodiment of no boundaries. And his party is in the process of being destroyed by that before they can complete the destruction of our country. The battle is here, too. And it is joined. Stand back and watch.

Jim, excellent work! The concept of boundaries is returning to citizens of the West in strength, and the globalist, boundaryless philosophy that got us into so much trouble these past 75 years is failing.
But will Islamic nations ever accept the presence of sovereign Israel, whether defined by the 1948 or 1967 boundaries? I know it’s religious as well as cultural rejection of “the enemy” so close, which is a step up from what Russia may feel about NATO presence within Ukraine. Do Hamas, Iran and poorly-defined Palestine feel that Israel (funded by NATO) on their border is at least as bad as Russia feels with the prospect of NATO on Russia’s border?
JIm, it’s not just Western European nations that have rediscovered sovereignty and borders. I am thankful that here in Australia, the border-centric political party One Nation has just managed to build support to overturn Govt introduced legislation for dealing with “Misinformation and Disinformation”. Take that, WEF! Australia’s entire identity as a nation can be summarised in the single word “Girt”. We’re starting to remember that means limits, secure borders, and mono culture. This is hot on the heels of a national referendum that firmly said “No” to embedding a second system of parliament and enshrined lobbying rights based on race to indigenous people. There seems to be hope we can remember what it means to be a nation with shared values and goals, regardless of skin colour or ethnic heritage.

Vlad Putin doubtless has his imperfections, like the rest of us, but in his regime the Church is thriving as it has not since before the Bolsheviks (a real godless team). For one sign, check out the grand new and restored cathedrals in which Russians seek to bring their souls to God.
No one really wants to talk about the real causes of these incessant empire resource wars. A quadrupling of the population in merely 80 years, and consumption per capita orders of magnitude higher the same 3-4 generations. The population runs out of resources, and has to expand their ‘sphere of influence.’ The problem now is that we’ve gone beyond peak *EVERYTHING* (helium, ffs) – Exponential consumption of finite resources always ends in this sort of catastrophe…
Don’t just stand back and watch. Become an active participant in saving our republic. Something tells me that it will take a quorum of like-minded individuals to get us on track, and I just don’t mean at the voting booth. Get vocal and LOUD!
You can save the Republic by preparing for what happens when all the rackets collapse all at once. When the grid goes down, the dollar is worthless, and energy is difficult to acquire is when whoever is best organized will win.
Make sure that you are better prepared than the socialists that surround you. No need to be loud about it – no need for anyone to know what you have.

The idea that Europe is better because of the EU is about to make a dull thud as Europe falls apart. Why? Because it is not appreciated that governments trying to self-perpetuate would overrun their populations with ignorant gimme immigrants from very different cultures. Simply put, White people are sick of having dark people shoved down their throats by unscrupulous politicos trying to create votes for themselves.
I hope the voters in the US are having the same feelings as the people of Holland, stoop globalization and immigration. Folks are finally finding out what the aim of the Progressive SOBs and hopefully will put a stop to it. Otherwise, the West is going to turn into the third world as BRICS++ gets their act together.
Armageddon is starting to look like a battle between the West, Europe, the US and Australia, and the minions of BRICS++. The Darks of the world are organizing and the process is accelerating.

I’m for breaking up the country into a lot of smaller republics. Government needs to shrink. Politicians need to be more subject to close local scrutiny. Large republics of hundreds of millions of people spanning a continent cannot be honestly governed by a few hundred elected federal politicians. Our constitution is great…..but it was never designed to scale to this vast size.

Besides, how well do you think you’d score on an IQ test written by people in Africa one hundred thousand years ago? Do you know how to– and can successfully do it– make your own fire without matches or a lighter, like the old ways? I’d be impressed if you did, because it’s on my bucket list.
In any case, I bought a couple of discounted loaves of sliced bread from a company that’s known– at least to me– for its un-sliced crusty French breads and I was disappointed. It’s like they have a different recipe or something. Mind you, they were discounted 50%. The point is you’d likely fail their test, and abysmally, because it would be a test outside of your culture and in theirs. They’d be playing you on their field so to speak. How about GO TO THE RANGE and become accurate. Learn how to handle what you have and know its strengths and limitations.
I doubt there will be the choice of just sitting back and watching.
One day, people will wake up (they usually do) and find out there’s no ammo or ammo prohibitively expensive – look at recent price history – or when the time comes when they have to use their firearm in a real situation, they will belatedly realize there’s a whole different psychology involved in putting your life on the line or taking others’.
It’s relatively easy to get a license and buy a gun or rifle or buy one illegally, but it’s a whole ‘nother smoke in real life action. Practicing shooting and familiarizing yourself with how your firearm works is necessary, but just a beginning.
Off the top of my head, the best way to practice is not just standing at a range and firing, but going somewhere shooting at moving, if not real targets, as they do in places like Quantico. It may be impossible to find such facilities near you, but just realize owning a firearm is not the final answer to self-defense.
In my younger years, myself and several academic medical colleagues were consultants to the US Army sniper program, cross training medic skills. In talking with them, we found that 100% of the snipers (top of the line shooters) said that the best training for what they did, and for general infantry, was hunting, hunting all kinds of game, deer, elk, bear, birds, and especially wild boar. I’ve hunted wild board many times, and often had to shoot while running from a boar who was chasing the dogs. Better than quantico where you’re shooting a pop ups that you know won’t shoot back. Wild boar will kill you, providing excellent reality to the shooting practice.
I should have mentioned hunting as a training site, but, perhaps you unfortunately live in a ‘non hunting’ pussy state. Sound like Mass. So sorry.

Yeah, me too, but Mass. isn’t really a pussy state, though. The Boston area, maybe, but Mass. extends around 180 miles west to the NY state line. Western Mass. is not the same as Metro Boston. I don’t like killing things, except I would if I had to to survive. I was thinking of hunting in my posta, but I didn’t because hunting small game and deer, to me isn’t good enough practice. There has to be an element of danger to truly appreciate your weaponry.
I say hunting bear is a better alternative to plain game hunting, or as you say, boar. For me, living in the Boston area, I never hear about boar, although maybe there is some. I admit I’m too chicken to hunt bear. I guess I’ll find out what I’m made of if I confronted one some day.

In Texas we are afflicted with about 3 million wild hogs. You should see some of the practice folks are getting in hunting these vermin from jeeps and pickups using their AR’s.
Texas is Mecca for hog hunting if you need to bone up on your marksmanship shooting real live flesh and blood moving targets.

My family members and numerous friends do just that, and since there are quite a few military in the group our practices are meaningful. We are not sitting back and watching, but actively preparing for what is inevitable with the marxist push we are suffering from. Just remember to stock up on ammunition, otherwise your firearms are useless.
neurodoc, going to the range is a great suggestion but I find what you do at the range is more important than simply going.
1.) Use two handed grip on your “strong” side.

In short, become proficient with both sides, some times you get shot in the wrong arm, sometimes the “covering” wall is on the wrong side, sometimes the bad guys are coming from the wrong direction.
Also, firefights don’t always happen under clear, blue sky, 71 degree days. At least once, try a range day in the rain, watch your accuracy disintegrate because the goddamned gun is cold and wet.

I’d say that, while we do have the right to free speech, it’s proper to prosecute people who speak this abusively to total strangers on the public streets. The street vendor–unlike any other man or woman whom Seldowitz might have singled for abuse in a public place–was a captive audience. He could not easily just walk away. This Seldowitz character is a sick puppy. If I were a judge in the case, I would at least consider ordering a psych evaluation. In addition whatever else he’s being charged with, I would suggest “inciting to violence.”

I’m not sure how I feel about the criminal prosecution of Seldowitz’s behavior. There a few venues in which extreme verbal abuse would not be dealt with, one way or another. Normally there would be no need for police intervention to remove someone from, say, a place of business. E.g., if this had occurred in a bar, the bouncer would have removed Seldowitz (if someone didn’t clock him first). If this had occurred in a retail establishment, an office, or a private gathering, the person being abused could have walked away and reported the incident, and Seldowitz probably would have been ordered to leave. In such a case, you’d only call the police if he refused to leave.
Now, if you live in NYC, you know that verbal abuse on the street and other public places (like the subway) is not uncommon, and sometimes people will even put their hands on you. In NYC, you just have fairly regular encounters with people who are mentally ill (or something), and most people have developed strategies for dealing with these situations.
Anyone who behaved this way in small-town America would be known around town and would get his ass kicked.

The story of the Fall of Man requires a backstory, the one where Lucifer is cast out of heaven (Isaiah 14:12, for and Old Testament reference). So I think the ultimate question is why God created Lucifer–whom you will recall (I guess) was also created good–indeed, the highest angel in heaven. Yet it was permitted for him to turn against God, to turn against all that is good. Why?
As I see it, it is because that is how completely God gave himself away to the creation: so completely that creatures (at least some of them) were endowed with such absolute freedom that they were even allowed to set themselves up against God Himself.
This also give us an inkling of the tremendous dignity and value of we creatures. We’re made out of the very substance of God, which was freely given to us. It was given to us so completely and freely that we can even choose to be abusive to God. That’s the measure of it. (Though we can’t be abusive to God without being abusive to ourselves.)
I guess what I’m saying is that permitting evil is in some sense a measure of the absolute grandeur of the act of creation. It’s that complete an outpouring of God’s being.

Jim really spoke to me today. I’m pondering lately the reasons for my leftist leanings as an adolescent and very young woman,and for my gradual and then sudden shift to what’s now considered the right.
When I was fifteen, I could think after a fashion but I couldn’t extrapolate – although I was unaware of that. I would not have been able to see, for instance, that allowing abortion very early in a pregnancy would inevitably lead to acceptance of late term and then live birth abortion. I was naive, and believed that they wanted what they said they did, and that they’d be satisfied if they got it. I didn’t realize that what they really wanted was to crack the door open so that they could eventually open it all the way. I went along with the cracking open and failed to see where it was going.
It soon became apparent that the left would always push for the next barrier to come down, so I became disabused of the idea that they would ever be satisfied, or that I could trust them to be truthful about their ultimate intentions. That aside, there were a few realizations along the way that opened my eyes, and led me to where I am now.
The first of these was the absurd portrayals of women in tv programs and films, easily subduing and disabling groups of large but helpless men who were quite unable to defend themselves against skinny Emma Peel or other popular feminist icons of the day. I noticed that it was idiotic, and also noticed that it seemed intended to instill a belief that the natural relationship of women to men could be altered, pushing a delusional belief in physical equality or even superiority.
“Delusional” was a state of mind I began to see and notice ever more frequently, especially in fiction and films, where it helped create a generation with bizarre and ludicrous ideas. The warrior woman who tosses strong men around was one of those ideas, and it has led in a direct line to men entering women’s sports. After all, if women can easily beat men without even breaking a sweat, what objection could there be to requiring that women prove it?
Another thing that really engaged my thinking was the proliferation of “marriages” where people wrote their own “vows” that essentially eliminated the very concept of a vow, promising nothing except “as long as we both shall love” – probably until next week.
What could be more ridiculous than making a vow that destroys the entire concept of a vow? I deeply offended some people by asking why they didn’t just shack up, rather than vowing to shack up until something better came along or they just lost interest. These were the “promises” made by a generation that seemingly couldn’t be relied upon for anything except to give in to every passing impulse. People who hung signs saying “if it feels good, do it” were proclaiming their pride in having no principles of any kind. Vows, promises? Just some words you said to get something that you probably wouldn’t want a week later.
And finally, the offense that really finished my flirtation with the left – the use of the word and concept of transgression as something always to be desired, without any consideration as to what was being transgressed against or where it might lead.The concept itself, that any and everything should be thoughtlessly undermined was bad enough, but the sheer stupidity was hardly to be believed. These were people so stupid that they were prepared to undermine the very things on which their (comfortable) lives depended, such as a sufficient supply of other people who DO keep their promises.
These were the thoughts and actions, carried out on a society wide scale, that have led inexorably to the “life without boundaries” that Jim rightly laments. We seem to have arrived at more or less the same place, but I feel a bit less lonely here.

@Jim, I don’t think I ever had what I’d call political allies, nor do I really have any now. I wouldn’t have thought of my opinions at that time as being political; I would have considered them as matters of right and wrong, and/or simple common sense.
The beliefs and attitudes I mentioned are still to be found among people I knew back then, although there are also quite a few who have come to their senses.
Your other two questions are beyond my ability to answer, and I doubt that my speculations would be very valuable; I’m better at retrospective than at prognostication. For what it’s worth, men who go out to sea in small boats invariably believe in God. I suspect that all of us will soon be on our own versions of small boats on rough seas.

The Romans killed Jesus, Roman soldiers nailed Him to the cross, stabbed Him in the side and a Roman Governor passed judgement on Him.
The Mob was complicit, led and spurred on by the religious leaders. These leaders did not like Jesus telling the folks that the Jewish mechanism of animal sacrifice was not necessary, and this endangered their cushy lifestyle. The size of the Mob , its composition and its real motive have never been explained.

Caiaphas had many discussions with Pilate about what to do with Jesus before and after His “death”. Capital cities are where immigrants flock to, whatever the country, so London was always where there would be most immigrants (although I believe Birmingham is a close second). The north-west of England also has high immigrant numbers – persecuted Jews came to places like Leeds a long time ago to work in the textile industries, followed by Asians working in those same industries.

Blair is almost the most enthusiastic high-profile individual pusher of global digital ID – he suggested that this would help solve the problem of migrant criminality. I haven’t read them yet, but my husband (also a history buff) has and recommends them. We are taught lies about our countries from infancy.
Having an empire also makes it absolutely inevitable that you will end up living beyond your means. The UK (well, England, anyway) is not just overpopulated because of immigrants, but also because it has spent centuries eating other people’s food and drinking other people’s water (check out how many gallons it takes to make a cotton shirt or grow a kilo of tomatoes).
There’s nothing wrong with immigration GA, a few ethnic neighborhoods here & there makes a city interesting. Well, in a few words I looked it up per your suggestion. It was pretty much what I thought it was.
Couple of comments
The example that was used the most of a technocracy was the USSR in Stalin times. I had always thought that the USSR was a uniparty where people progressed by political sway, not technical acumen. Stalin was a union boss, not a scientist or engineer. Many advancements happened because the opponents ended up missing in action.
China, today, was used as the leaders are technologically astute, being former engineers and scientists.
Technocracy sounds to me as a method to remove human emotion from the governing equation in the eyes of their advocates. Can you?
George Washington seems to have been a technocrat, warning against political parties, and the Constitution seems to me an attempt by the FF to form a government to be run by “experts” rather than parties. I googled Nat Turner’s Slave Rebellion in 1831.
Nat Turner, born into slavery in 1800, was fortunate in that his first owner taught him how to read.
Nat Turner became quite religious. He was sold a few times by 1831.
In August 1831, in Virginia, he persuaded a few other slaves to join him. He/they killed his owner Travis, and Travis’ family in their sleep and proceeded to kill another 50-60 whites before they were caught.
In November 1831, Turner and his accomplices, were convicted, and hanged.
In the time between August and November and after, some 200 African slaves were killed in revenge killings. (a lot more than the 60 whites).
Turner’s actions were not justified, but his anger was understandable.
The Virginia Legislature passed laws banning slaves from learning and making penalties harsher for slaves who escaped. And a lot of slave owners became harsher.
A lot of parallels between the American slave owners and African American slaves on the plantation, and Israelis and native Palestinians on their land. Between Nat Turner’s rebellion and Hamas Oct 07 attack.
The slaves had no powerful friends who would help with ACTION. The Palestinians don’t either.
The cause of ending slavery had supporters among the American public, especially in the north. The cause of ending the oppression of the Palestinians has supporters among the public.
Slavery was the poison pill that undermined the US of A from inception. The racist treatment of Palestinians in the occupied territories has undermined Israel since 1967. The forced expulsion of the Arabs in 1947/48 undermined Israel from inception.

While the slaughter and/or genocide of the Palestinians is not without precedent–the Battle of Omdurman, the liquidation of Native Americans, probably a lot of the European colonial wars, the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, were similarly disproportionate. The Khmer Rouge, Armenian and Jewish Holocausts were more direct. However, these other mass killings were not widely reported when they occurred, let alone videoed. Events in Gaza today, and the West Bank tomorrow, are being seen by billions of people globally, even in the West, even in the US. It’s not a good look.
I don’t think it will end well for Israel, and more importantly, its “exceptional” enabler. JHK has made a living of pointing out how frail and unsustainable things are in general, and here in the big PX in particular. Those sentiments most people in this space seem to agree with.
Where CFN doesn’t agree: if we live to see how things play out, to see Christ come again in glory, to judge the living and the dead, I think a lot of people invoking God as supporting the current state of Israel will be surprised–and dismayed.

I used to train air traffic controllers. Classroom instruction is always first. On the job training [ OJT ] is too dangerous for the flying public so they are put through scenarios of traffic situations so they can apply the [ FAA ] rules to keep aircraft from occupying the same space at the same time. Use of simulations are cost effective and safe.
I sometimes wonder if God could build a better simulation of reality than the FAA has, since simulations [ gaming ] are creations of the mind.

Like any other population, there are a wide variety of high IQ people but many of us are of the Absent-minded Professor archetype. For example, Albert Einstein did not know his own phone number.
That is, just because a guy can program a computer to do something that nobody else ever made it do before doesn’t mean that he won’t also repeatedly and wholeheartedly believe a known liar hook, line and sinker exactly like a moron. High IQ people are often very productive away from people but a hapless victim amongst them.

It has been said– and I read it relatively recently, but also thought about it– that those who engage in a lot of math/symbolism/simulations like physicists or cosmologists, can risk confusing their math/simulations with reality. And IQ tests don’t even compare– nowhere near close.
Bottom line or takeaway is this: Don’t fall into that kind of trap with anything that humans might arrogantly profess about nature/reality. Nature has other ideas and will upend us and all our arrogant stupidities in a planck-time instant.

One reason why an anarchist might attempt to join the military is if they can get free training on stuff like wherever/whatever they are assigned to, whether it be naval communications, say, or fighter pilot.
Then, if any war breaks out and they’re called to duty, if they are pilots for example, they can pack an especially big bag, fly over some nice spot– say an island off the beaten path– parachute down (thus leaving the plane to crash) and sit out the war and say they got shot down and how terrible an experience it was, yada yada.
In that case, however, IQ tests seem less like the sorts of weed-out tests needed.

What they did with old bread – in patisseries, at least – where I lived (the Dauphiné) was to make the most solid ‘cake’ you’ve ever seen, which they called le poudding, suggesting something stodgy and British. You could have soled your shoes with it.
