The White House, Christmas Eve, 2023. Imagine the painfully lugubrious scene….
“Joe Biden” rattles around in the upstairs “residence” like a BB in a packing crate. Nobody is around besides a few secret service agents, so still at their posts they might as well be statuary. The Big Guy is all alone. His spouse, Dr. Jill, had enough of pretend caretaking quite a while ago, and flew off to Oprah’s place in Santa Barbara for counseling and commiseration. Hunter is Gawd-knows-where doing Gawd-knows-what.
“JB” shuffles out of the residence kitchen, where he just demolished a half gallon of Ben & Jerry’s Americone Dream® ice cream, against his doctor’s orders. His gall bladder writhes in revolt, sending a distress signal up the vagus nerve to the shriveled hypothalamus in his brain. A jumbled fugue of emotions — rage, fear, sexual arousal — quickens his step as he navigates by dead reckoning to the executive bedroom where he hurries to bed and falls into leaden slumber — only to be awakened by a cacophony of ringing bells. His eyelids roll open like shades in the windows of a skid row hotel room. Plangent moaning resounds as a mist emerges through the bedroom door and resolves into a mysterious figure garbed in the raiment of the Ku Klux Klan.
“Joe Biden” shrinks under the luxury Boll & Branch signature duvet— acquired when the agriculture minister of Ukraine slipped him an envelope stuffed with 100 hryvnia notes. The spirit wails something that resembles the old Confederate anthem Eatin’ Goober Peas.
“Who are you spirit?” the quaking president asks.
“Why, I am your old pard from the Senate,” the ghost of Robert Byrd declares, removing the pointed hood to reveal his leonine head of hair and scowling face. “Why have you thrown our sacred borders wide open, suh? I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels.”
“Y-y-you don’t uh-uh-understand,” “JB” says, his childhood stutter returning. “They are muh-muh-migrants from oppression and vuh-vuh-very fine people.”
“Fine people, my ass,” the former Senator from West Virginia cries and clears the dust of the sepulcher from his throat. “I will send three spirits to you this night as a review of what has been and what shall become, so beware….” And with that the spirit returns to mist and slips back out through the keyhole. . . .
“Joe Biden” is shocked from slumber again as an attractive blond female ghost floats through the bedroom window.
“Don’t I know you?” he asks.
“Cad! That is the very line you used to pick me up on spring break in Nassau, 1966,” says “JB’s” first wife, Neilia Hunter. “Shall I show you the meretricious spectacle you made of our family after that truck driver on Limestone Road ended my life and your little daughter’s too!”
“No-o-o-o-o,” the president moans, but is magically transported to the Wilmington Hospital room where his banged-up boys, Beau and Hunter, are recovering from their injuries. A TV crew is present as “JB” emotes for the camera, a cruel victim of fate, he blubbers, who will yet conquer his grief and go on to forty years of electoral victories and the sedulous gathering of tribute from “donors” far and wide to soften the blow of his loss. The room dims….
He wakes up startled to a thunderation of rap music. An African American giant sits on a gilded throne with a 40 oz bottle of Colt 45 in one huge hand and a little glass pipe smoldering at his lips. “JB” isn’t sure who this is.
“Is that you, Corn Pop?” he asks.
“Corn Pop, my ass. Don’t you remember me, George Floyd?”
“Oh, that boy who—”
“Boy…!” the ghost fumes. “Get yo’ cracker ass out da bed, right now, and put your limp little privileged paw in my hand!”
Suddenly they are transported on a cold wind to the concrete apron of the colossal obelisk behind the White House.
“Didn’t you tell congressman Clyburn you was gonna rename this thing the George Floyd monument?
“Wuh-whu-well it was a suh-suh-suggestion, not a promise—”
“Suggestion, my ass,” the ghost snorts and cuffs “JB” upside his head. “I’m the baby-daddy of this country now. You best see that it get done!”
“Joe Biden” awakens yet again as more cold wind bearing the fetid odor of swamp blows through the still-opened window. He is yet muttering “yu-yuh-yuh-yessir, yessir,” when a shrouded, hooded figure materializes in the gloom.
“You are… Cuh-Cuh-Christmas Future,” “Joe Biden” says.
“You’re catching on,” says the ghost, holding out his fleshless, bony hand. “Come!”
They are transported to the hearing room of a House committee. Hunter Biden sits at the witness table, tears streaking his face, apparently in mid testimony.
“. . . and then my dad says to Mr. Zlochevsky, ‘one-million? C’mon man, I’ve got a beach house to renovate’. . . and Mister Z says, ‘okay I give you one-point-five-mil’. . . and my dad cracks up laughing. . . . ‘that won’t even cover the area rugs I ordered from Iran’ he says. . . .”
Suddenly the room vaporizes and “Joe Biden” stands next to the inaugural dais on the US Capitol’s west-facing front. Tucker Carlson has just stepped away after being sworn in as vice president and the massive, gold-headed, once-and-future president lumbers up to the Chief Justice, placing his hand on a Bible.
“Oh, n-n-n-no-o-o-o-o. . .” “JB” wails and wakes up in the presidential bed, panting and sweating.
“Are you all right sir?” A marine standing at his bedside says.
“I had a terrible dream. Trump got back in.”
“That was no dream, sir. You’ve been in a coma since just before Christmas last year when you stroked out on ice cream. It’s Wednesday, November 6, 2024. Welcome back to reality, sir.”
“Reality?” “Joe Biden” says. “We make our own reality.”
“Not anymore, sir,” the lance corporal says.
“Tell me, son, please! Did I manage to pardon my family? And myself?”
“Uh, well, sir, you were in a coma. Anyway, your attorneys wish to see you now. . . .”

I’ve been rattling around here for 57 years and I’ve yet to see anyone but whistle-blowers punished. These people are never going to punish themselves and the only alternative – a Night of the Long Knives unleashed by Trump is just as unthinkable.

Quit listening to the fallacious BS the media produces about Trump.
Instead, consider whether our country was better in November, 2020 or today.
Every charge against him is totally political. If the people in the Deep State were all measured with the same ruler, the Congress and White House would be deserted in a year.
Designated Survivor would be small potatoes.
Examples: New York, the most corrupt city in the USA, charging Trump with fraud, what a joke. Georgia, the birthplace of voter fraud, charging him with manipulating the election results. Florida, charging him with manipulating the classified documents laws, where are those documents from Biden’s garage, behind the Corvette.

I watched a Republican witness at the last BS hearing run by that clown Comer who stated, categorically, that he could NOT SEE ANY EVIDENCE to support a Biden impeachment.

The fantasy that democracy, free markets, and a so-called republican form of government are self-correcting has been proven false. President John Adams and English historian, Lord Macaulay, both had serious doubts about our idols.
Unfortunately, our institutions have been corrupted for so long that we cannot count on them to supply competent leaders, let alone strongmen who have the power and vision to set things right. Our institutions have spawned a malignant ruling elite that knowingly acts against our best interests and prevents the best of us from rising through the ranks.
We cannot hope for an Adolf Hitler to avenge us, as he did for the long-suffering German people. We will never get a good strongman who puts his country and people first, like Viktor Lukashenko of Belarus. Even Juan Peron (minus his meddlesome wives) would be head and shoulders above anything our institutions can create.
What to do? Without a unifying racialist vision to galvanize Whites to action, I can only see individual and ineffective rebellions from among Whites. But, sadly, Whites in general are permanently crippled by a modernist Judaized Christianity. Even those who are not church goers are still infected by such poisonous doctrines. We don’t have any heroes or heroic gods to inspire us but, only the anesthetizing myth of a suffering savior on the cross and liberal traditions that turn men into sheep.

I am especially intrigued by your last sentence, and as a supposed “golden ager,” I have a sincere question: If the anesthetizing effect of a suffering savior, Jesus, is indeed a myth, to what (if anything) do you look forward to once our extremely brief “wisp of vapor” (aka mortal life) “disappears?”

Actually, once I threw off Christianity and its Abrahamic cousins, I have acquired a greater confidence in my fate, before and after the death of my mortal body. I am NOT an atheist! I simply have no faith in the Abrahamic system’s claims of who God is and what He represents.
The life after this life has always been a mystery. The closest we’ve come to a glimpse has been from seers, like Emmanuel Swedenborg and Edgar Cayse. We have seen the rise of NDEs and they share similar processes while differing in some details. The details being shaped by their life experiences on the Earth.
And finally, I found superior guidance to the higher knowledge of God, Man, and the Universe from ancient Vedic books, like the Srimad Bhagavatam, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Upanishads. Those three books are LIGHT YEARS beyond the Bible and the Quran. The Talmud is just pure evil. The entire Abrahamic system has a Jewish foundation and THAT, alone, is reason enough to distrust it.
Recently, I discovered the Late Roman Emperor, Julian, and his magnificent book, “Against The Galileans.” A powerful defense of the old Roman and Greek gods and a scathing rebuke of both Christians and Jews of his time. The things he detested about Christians and Jews can be seen today.
Christianity has done a terrible job of preparing its followers to face death, which is the most important part of religion. Christians are full of false doctrines and trendy traditions. It stinks of the Judaization that Harold Wallace Rosenthal boasted about when he said that Jews have taken over the seminaries and the churches. When I see “contemporary” Christianity, it makes me vomit.
OTOH, the best of the faith would be the Eastern/Russian Orthodox Church but, that branch contains the spirit of the Slavic people of Eastern Europe and Russia. It just can’t translate to ZOG America and the degenerate West. God has abandoned the West and each of us must find his own way.
I could elaborate further but, this should suffice for now.

Yes indeed.
It wasn’t always so, though, in earlier Christian communities. What we have now is a faith in modern tech and the ideology of progressivism which causes a distaste and fear of death. People now, Christian or not, think that so-called advances in science, technology, and ever-progressing (ha!) financial development means that death should just be a simple technical problem to be solved.
At base is the belief that death itself is not only disturbing, but that it’s wrong.
And this where the transhumanists enter with their own religiose promise of “eternal life”. This also leads into a further and much more important religious discussion regarding what constitutes the “eternal”. As Florida Jim says, the Eastern religions had this all figured out long before Christianity entered the scene. (Hint: eternity, in the religious sense, has no meaning outside of the present moment.)

Allow me to start out by disclosing that “scope creep” was always for me a vicious destroyer of mutual benefit back when I derived (very painfully) my existential sustenance from the corporate world. I’m sure that is still true today, therefore, while your remarks tempt me with countless potential digressions, I’ll confine for now the scope of my response to the specific question of how we should best prepare ourselves for mortal death.
I should also disclose that while opinions vary, I am deeply in love with Jesus and his teachings, which I unwaveringly (thus far) believe represent absolute truth. That said, I also firmly believe that, unlike a lie, a truth does not at all mind intense scrutiny and questioning, which is why you cannot offend me by questioning Christianity.
That said, in addition to today’s pathetic body politic, you are also spot on in your unvarnished assessment of “contemporary” Christianity. In fact, I burst out laughing recently when my beloved SIL posted on social media, “If Paul could see the Church in America today…we’d be getting a letter.” That cuts right to the bone if you ask me.
When you say, “Christianity has done a terrible job of preparing its followers to face death,” are you referring to Christ’s actual Biblical teachings, or to the counterfeit “modernist Judaized Christianity” that sadly seems to have permeated the Church in America?
Either way, whenever I contemplate my own inevitable death, I often meditate on a quote by D.L. Moody…
“Some day you will read in the papers that D.L. Moody of East Northfield, is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it! At that moment I shall be more alive than I am now; I shall have gone up higher, that is all, out of this old clay tenement into a house that is immortal—a body that death cannot touch, that sin cannot taint; a body fashioned like unto His glorious body.”
So, I guess if it’s a crime to employ Moody’s advice anesthetically, put the ‘cuffs on me, ’cause I’m guilty as charged. Just like I’m guilty of deriving courage and peace from the (supernatural if you ask me) faith and trust articulated, for instance, in the 3rd chapter of Daniel.
I could go on and on, but for brevity’s sake, I’ll conclude by staging a final question. You credit ancient Vedic books for assisting you in “throwing off” what you apparently now perceive Christianity to be, an inferior religion. Believe me, since eternity is such a frighteningly long time to be wrong, I’m very cool with entertaining the notion right now, while there’s still time, that perhaps I’m the one who has been deceived. In that vein, Christ teaches us that, “you will know them by their fruit,” so that’s what I tend to look for when seeking validation. Is there a better method you are aware of?
To wit: I believe that Harvard (and higher education in general) had a sizable role in elevating the historically unprecedented material success story we often refer to as the American experiment, especially early on. Unfortunately, like all human institutions, higher education is not exempt from corrupting influences, and it has now devolved into a veritable cesspool of (supernatural?) demonic evil if you ask me. But it wasn’t always that way. Here’s a portion of Harvard’s stunning 1646 mission statement…
“Let every Student be plainly instructed, and earnestly pressed to consider well, the main end of his life and studies is, to know God and Jesus Christ which is eternal life (John 17:3) and therefore to lay Christ in the bottom, as the only foundation of all sound knowledge and learning. And seeing the Lord only giveth wisdom, let everyone seriously set himself by prayer in secret to seek it of him (Prov. 2:3).”
For proper context, I’ll readily admit that the “New World” was a unique opportunity for the Puritans to start fresh in their quest to freely exercise their religious beliefs without the wicked persecution that existed back then in Western Europe. That was a seriously huge advantage, and yet it’s only taken us ~400 years, a mere speck of time in the context of eternity, to again completely lose our way both culturally and politically.
All that said, I’ll humbly submit that I am woefully ignorant of the ancient Vedic books you speak of, nor have I read Julian’s book, but I have little doubt that he makes a valid case that the Christian Church had already strayed far from Christ’s teachings by the mid-300’s. And understanding that is what makes me extra cautious about whom I seek direction, there are a lot of false prophets out there!
So, in addition to the Holy Spirit, I look to a small group of figures like Moody, C.S. Lewis, Charles Spurgeon, et al., for guidance and inspiration in my faith walk. In fact, I prayed yesterday for the Spirit to direct me into specific divine wisdom as it relates to our exchange, and I “stumbled” across a podcast recorded on 6/8/2008 that really resonated with me as I make my way through the 4th quarter of life…

I spent almost the entire day yesterday with my precious 4-year-old granddaughter, and words cannot express the peace (and joy) I felt afterwards as I listened to the message referenced above. Alistair Begg epitomizes the two human traits I admire most, courage and humility, better than any living person I know, and he has helped me immensely as I prepare for whatever modest legacy I might eventually leave to my progeny.
So here (finally!) is my question (turns out it’s actually 2 questions): First, before you threw off Christianity, did you ever feel as though you were truly born of the Spirit (aka born again), or do you suppose your experience was the far more common “false conversion?” And secondly, given that I know very little of the teachings you speak so highly of, could you direct me to perhaps the one best introductory source where someone like myself could gain a working understanding of the essence of the belief system? IOW, something instructionally like Lewis’ “Mere Christianity?”
Sorry for the length, I didn’t have time to shorten it up. Someday I’d love to hear your thoughts on why Patton said after WWII that we had fought the wrong enemy. ?

I’d love to imagine a Chinese equivalent of the above, where the Seven Ogres who head the CCP (read: Callous, Cannibalistic Psychopaths) — with that fat, ugly man with a rosebud mouth being their chief, of course — find themselves visited every night by the countless spirits of those who have died on their account. The hauntings become so severe they become afraid to look in any mirror lest they see the dire spirits and their health deteriorates due to lack of sleep. Eventually some of them die in their sleep as their souls descend into Hades and pass through the 18 Courts of Judgement, while others go mad and start shooting everything and everyone around them, and eventually have to be put down by their loyal party cadres. Thus ends the hateful reign of the CCP and a new chapter in Chinese history can finally begin.

I was at the gym last week, trying to burn off some Thanksgiving feast calories (might be the last feast so I made sure to enjoy it). As I was pumping iron and stepping the stair stepper I was intrigued to note how many people in the gym that day were of bronze skin and black hair orientations. I speak fluent Spanish so I am not threatened by that, but the part that I did note was that there was not a single blonde person in that gym that day. I live in Pennsylvania that’s mostly a Red State but is Blue when they count the votes. This morning reading our local “RAG” newspaper, the editor condemned the State Legislators for getting another raise making them the third-highest paid legislature in the country. Nobody voted for the raise since it comes automatically from a 1995 law that ties salaries to the CPI. This year’s raise is 3,5 %, going from $102,844 to $106,422. This comes after a 7.8% bump last year. The base salary is more than twice the average salary in the state.
The State Senate is now considering whether or not to give retiree’s a raise. Retiree’s haven’t seen as raise for 20 years . Some retirees who retired before 2001 were in a reduced system making things worse. This is how Pennsylvania honors those who worked in the field of education for years with sub-standard wages.
One House legislature indicated that they got Social Security, that’s there Cost of Living raise and in addition he said they knew what retirement was when they started teaching, too bad!

I just finished reading today’s article on SHTF Plan by Michael Snyder. Now I now Snyder is an alarmist extraordinaire, but he has been on target for the past year. He is talking about how poor the average American really is. Daily survival is getting more difficult.
That got me thinking about food, a pretty basic measure of economic, physical and emotional conditions. My daughter has volunteered at a local food pantry for about 3 or 4 years. She’s telling me the number of families that are coming in for food assistance has greatly increased. And the food pantry is in a reasonably well-off, average town.
If anything happens to our food supply like drought, problems with trucking or any other negative factor, our society will break down immediately, like we CFNers already know. I think we ought to start food prepping now. I know many posters here live in more rural areas, which is good.
Hey Bill, hope you had a great Thanksgiving. You are right, it is never too late to start prepping. I have canned goods and bottled water coming out of my wazoo! Every time I go to the store I grab 4-5 extra canned goods, just to add to my stash. It has all built up really well over time.

‘Lost diamonds’: Rare Russian books stolen from European libraries
– A spate of thefts of rare Russian classics worth millions of euros from libraries across Eastern Europe has left a trail that points all the way to auctions in Russia.
Shelves of 19th century Russian literature have been ransacked over the past two years in Poland and the Baltic states, with originals replaced by fakes.
The University of Warsaw library only found out last month about the thefts, including first editions of works by Alexander Pushkin and Nikolai Gogol.
A university employee with knowledge of the matter estimated the value of the stolen books at “around a million euros”.
“It was like gouging out the crown jewels,” Hieronim Grala, a former diplomat, an expert in Russia policy and professor at the University of Warsaw told AFP.
“Fortunately, not everything was picked out, but a few emeralds, diamonds and rubies are lost,” said Grala, who has helped the university assess the damages.
The theft in Warsaw was not an isolated event.
Libraries in the three Baltic countries have also fallen prey to thieves, and in each case Russian literature was targeted.
Experts believe the stolen works have found their way to Russia, with at least some sold off at hasty auctions in Moscow.
‘Industrial scale’
The first known case of what turned out to be a series of similar raids was detected at the National Library of Latvia last year, when three books were stolen.
A Georgian citizen was later found guilty of stealing them and sentenced to six months in prison, but his accomplice remained at large.
In the same month, two men claiming to be studying censorship and printing policy in early 19th-century Russia showed up at the university library in the Estonian city of Tartu and asked for the nearly 200-year-old works of Pushkin and Gogol.
It was only four months later that the library realised they had left behind eight convincing-looking copies, not the books that were later estimated to be worth a total of 158,000 euros ($170,000).
In May, Lithuania’s Vilnius University library discovered 17 of its rare Russian books had gone missing too.
“Most of the stolen books were replaced with non-original ones,” Gintare Vitkauskaite-Satkauskiene, spokeswoman of the Lithuanian Prosecutor General’s Office, told AFP.
According to Lithuanian investigators, the stolen books were worth around 440,000 euros.
The University of Warsaw has so far identified 79 books as missing, meaning it suffered the most substantial losses of all four countries.
“Here, the thieves operated on an industrial scale,” a Warsaw University library employee who declined to be named, told AFP.
“When I saw what they had taken, I felt a hot flash.”
The fake books the thieves left behind, seen by AFP, range from sloppy imitations to meticulous counterfeits, where only the improper stamp ink colour or size of label revealed the forgery.
While these books were being counted as still in the collection, the originals were being sold off in Moscow.
“There’s a memo dated December 22, 2022 that the books are in their place,” Grala told AFP.
“On the same day, at an auction in Moscow, one of these books goes for 30,500 euros.”
‘Organised from Russia’
Sources close to the Warsaw library’s investigation have shown AFP screenshots of auctions held by Russia’s Litfond auction house with books carrying stamps and catalogue numbers of Warsaw University.
“It is clear to me that the whole action was centrally organised from Russia,” Grala told AFP.
AFP contacted the Litfond auction house but its general director Sergei Burmistrov did not explicitly deny nor confirm any wrongdoing.
“The Litfond auction house works within the framework of the current legislation of the Russian Federation, and we do not accept for sale nor do we sell any books with stamps from existing state libraries”, Burmistrov said.
To Grala, there is a clear Russian link connecting the thefts in Poland and the Baltic countries which is hardly a surprise or coincidence.
“The first three strikes hit those countries that the Russians accuse of fighting the Russian language and Russian culture,” he told AFP.
“They recognised quite well that the Rossica (items related to Russian culture) are guarded less strictly in our region… and less guarded means more accessible.”
Poland’s relations with Russia have long been strained, with Warsaw being an ardent critic of the Kremlin and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Both sides frequently trade barbs about protecting each other’s cultural heritage.
Grala could barely hide his emotion as he spoke of how he was “devastated” by the “irreversible” losses of Russian books that survived two national uprisings and two world wars on Polish soil.
“The librarians of the University of Warsaw, risking their lives during the war, secretly built a double ceiling and hid the books so that they wouldn’t disappear or burn down,” Grala told AFP.
“And we couldn’t protect them from looting.”

Anyway, his view is that Israel is making a HUGE mistake in prosecuting this war in this manner, and is likely to incite the entire Arab world (which outnumbers them many times over) to attack Israel–whose conduct of this war has also alienated most of the rest of the world.
In addition, as I mentioned above, Israel is completely dependent on the US for its existence. The time is approaching when the US will not be able to secure Israel’s existence. And apart from the US, Israel has no friends at all–and many, many enemies. And many of those enemies would be very eager to put an end to Israel’s existence. They want only the opportunity. The October 7th attack was an obvious false flag, very obviously intended as an excuse to undertake extreme violence against Gaza–but what for? And why now? (Israel could have done this any old time.)

The idea is that “when an atom of radioactive material splits into lighter atoms, there’s a sudden, powerful release of energy” [1]. Yes, nuclear bombs are simply large bombs. They are measured in TNT equivalent because they are simply large bombs. Atomic bombs use plutonium or uranium to create an explosion. But plutonium and uranium, contrary to what you have been told, are virtually harmless. Caffeine is far more deadly than uranium or plutonium. A bottle of caffeine pills can kill 4 grown men, but one person can swallow an equivalent bottle of uranium, and suffer no harm.

It seems that sleeping with an infected person is not good a good idea. My wife who got a cold at our friend’s celebration of life party has now given it to me. If plumbers could fix drippy and leaky noses I would have called him. The fluid has been pouring out of my nose all day; I must have used up a box full of Kleenex and sneezed all day.
Usually, when I get a cold I also get a sore throat, but not this time. All in all I don’t feel too bad, just pretty tired. My immune system is probably in reasonably good shape. Or so I hope.

Our “colds” are really weird. I “caught” mine in Scotland, my wife’s in Chicago, both symptoms are identical.
Cough up mucus, worse at night, itchy throat sore at times, impervious to all cough remedies, mucinex, antibiotics and steroids. Mine is at last stages now after 9 weeks, my wife is at wee 4 and still deep in the coughing stage. That is all, cough and mucus, no pneumonia, no runny nose, no nasal congestion, no fever, at the worst part some lethargy. When I am in dry phase I have a very slight sore throat. When a coughing jag comes on, it is irrepressible.
We have slept apart since the cruise just because one of us is coughing all the time.

Having just returned from the grocery store, despite my cheesecake plans, I succumbed to a discount on some (too-dry just found out) cinnamon buns of the kinds we can get in indoor shopping malls at their food courts over here, that can go by the names, Saint Cinnamon, or Cinnabon.
The kinds of malls that JHK and Duncan Crary might have visited and done a kinda-cute podcast or two about.
So what I just did was pull a few off the group, pull each a little apart, place them in a small stainless steel bowl that, in turn, was placed in a larger bowl, filled with a bit of water and a pot lid place on top, and re-baked for 20 minutes at 330 degrees. Night and day! Just finished one: Warm and moist.
Now I’m washing them down after the cold milk and slowly getting tipsy with a ‘Cabana Coast Dirty Shirley’ (7% vodka and grenadine soda cocktail).

Americans Glimpse Jimmy Carter’s Frailty and His Resolve
ATLANTA — His face was pale and gaunt, his legs were wrapped in a blanket, and his eyes never seemed to make contact with the family members huddled around him. But on Tuesday, Jimmy Carter was there, in the front row of a church in Atlanta, just a few feet from the coffin holding Rosalynn Carter, his wife of 77 years.
Carter, 99, was some 164 miles from his home in Plains, Georgia, where he had been in hospice care since February. He was brought into the church in a wheelchair, as the crowd of mourners at the memorial service looked on, many of them catching their first glimpse of him in nine months.
That he would make such a trek in his condition was, to some, shocking — and, to his family, worrisome.

And yet, it was also very true to form: a display of the tenacity, bordering on stubbornness, that has been a defining characteristic of Carter, the longest-living president in U.S. history.
“Come hell or high water, Jimmy Carter was going to use his inner resources to be there,” presidential historian Douglas Brinkley said, adding that the former president “has the most intense willpower of any person I’ve ever known.”
A strain of determination has always been core to Carter’s identity, particularly when it came to Rosalynn, who rebuffed him when he first asked to marry her. But it has also evolved into a quiet intensity that has propelled him — and at times dismayed his family and aides — as he has repeatedly defied illness and infirmity.
“He is a man of enormous stamina and strength and will,” author Kai Bird, a Carter biographer, said on CNN, as the memorial service concluded Tuesday.
In 2019, after a fall left him with a black eye and stitches, he soon showed up to help build houses in Nashville, Tennessee, for Habitat for Humanity. “I had a No. 1 priority, and that was to come to Nashville to build houses,” Carter said at a gathering of volunteers, according to People magazine.
“One of the things Jesus taught was: If you have any talents, try to utilize them for the benefit of others,” Carter, then 95, told the magazine, which reported that he had 14 stitches on his head. “That’s what Rosa and I have both tried to do.”
Not long after that, he fractured his pelvis. He ignored pleas from his family and staff and showed up to teach Sunday school at Maranatha Baptist Church, carefully perching on a stool in front of the congregation to offer a simple sermon about being a kind and loving neighbor.
Afterward, he and his wife stayed in their seats, as dozens of visitors from around the world lined up for pictures with them.
Jimmy Carter has rarely been seen in public since he entered hospice care, and in May, the Carter Center announced that Rosalynn, a longtime advocate for greater access to mental health care, had dementia. She died on Nov. 19, at age 96.
Carter’s family expressed concerns that attending Tuesday’s service could be taxing for the former president. But they also recognized the importance of his presence at the church, where he joined some of his successors and every living presidential spouse.
“He has been this moral rock for so many people, but she really was that rock for him,” his grandson, Jason Carter, said. “He’s glad he’s not going to miss it, but we’re all worried about him.”
The Carters’ daughter, Amy Carter, said at the service that her father was not able to speak to the attendees. So she read a love letter he wrote to his wife while he served in the Navy more than seven decades ago.
“My darling, every time I have ever been away from you, I have been thrilled when I returned to discover just how wonderful you are,” Carter wrote in the letter. “While I’m away, I try to convince myself that you really are not, could not be, as sweet and beautiful as I remember. But when I see you, I fall in love with you all over again.”
“Does that seem strange to you?” he went on. “It doesn’t to me. Goodbye, darling. Until tomorrow, Jimmy.”

Breaking The Breaks
A lot of barbaric behaviour can of course be chalked up to the toxic indoctrination and/or embedded violence of and against, respectively, those on some levels, ignorant, but not necessarily vicious/barbaric, at least not initially.
You can of course see that subject being broached currently in various media in those tedious or torturous interviews of people pretzelling over the issue of ‘denouncing (or not) the Hamas attack’.
It’s not that the world is ‘nasty and brutish’ as such and so ‘them’s the breaks’ and ‘ya gotta do what ya gotta do’ but, rather, about getting caught in vicious circles, realizing it, and breaking them as you realize that the world isn’t nearly as vicious after all.
Too many portray that, however, maybe for some, it’s to justify some sorts of ongoing nastiness and brutishness, often in embedded forms by the entities we call States/State governments.
If you’re ever interviewed by media, or even spin your own piece, and the topic of denouncing the Oct. 7 2023 Hamas attack on Israel comes up, maybe consider looking at people as separate from States or similar political entities they’re forced and/or ideologically indoctrinated into and to identify with.

The negative: he started giving Ukraine “lethal” military aid. He didn’t leave Syria. He had an Iranian general assassinated. He further encouraged the Israelis by being even more deferential to them than his predecessors in the White House.
In short, he helped pave the way to where we are today.
He is much better than the others. But that’s such a low bar, that being “better than the others” is essentially meaningless. My two cents.

The head of the Russian Orthodox Church has expressed his concerns over the country’s influx of migrants, saying “the whole Russian world ‘is under threat’” until the country’s immigration policy is revised.
Patriarch Kirill said ethnic enclaves are emerging and actively developing in the largest cities of Russia, creating breeding grounds for corruption, organized crime and illegal immigration.
During the World Russian People’s Council, the patriarch said experience had proved that it was impossible to “come to terms with national diasporas and clans, who are ready not only to stand up for [one of their own] in order to save him from fair punishment under the law, but also to take revenge in every possible way on everyone who dares to appeal to law enforcement agencies when reporting a crime.”
The Patriarch suggested using the experience of other countries facing similar challenges in solving immigration problems. He has been critical of the idea of “embracing the consequences” of unregulated and unlimited arrivals, saying that many simply regard them as the side-effects of “the import of foreign labor” while admitting that it would be difficult for the Russian economy to cope with all the challenges it faces without the additions to the workforce.

He said that the unregulated mass influx of migrants who don’t speak Russian, lack proper understanding of the country’s history and culture, traditions and customs, and are therefore unable and often unwilling to integrate into Russian society end up altering the looks of Russian cities, leading to the deformation of the legal, cultural and linguistic norms of the country.
The Patriarch has also emphasized that even a Russian passport does not exempt immigrants from the need to respect Russian society and traditions.
Earlier on Tuesday, special representative of the State Duma on migration and citizenship Konstantin Zatulin said Russia needs migrants, including from Central Asia and the Caucasus. According to him, there are two approaches to migration in the country. “The first viewpoint is to close the borders and immediately ban all migration. The second is to actively attract visitors from other countries as a workforce. The Russian government and business share the second approach,” he emphasized. “Let’s understand: we can’t do without them. There are 72 million workers in Russia today. Of them 3 million are official migrants. More than 2 million jobs are still vacant.”

Rather than attacking each other, it is interesting to note we are mostly vacuous creatures, which ought to lead us to humility.
Did you know that atoms, which is what we are made of, are mostly empty spaces – a nucleus, with maybe electrons orbiting around it. In between is nothing. If you were able to eliminate all those spaces, the entire human race of 8+ billion could fit inside one sugar cube. That ought to give you some thought. Well done by all parties. It really showed the difference between the two sides. DeSantis defending the conservative leadership in Florida and Newsom attacking the uncaring attitude that unbiased leadership incurs. Those poor LBTGQ people are so picked on!!!
I thought DeSantis did a good job of presenting a pro-MAGA agenda and assisted Trump considerably. Newsom not so much with Biden as he had a hard time defending the failures that are occurring.
DeSantis talked facts and was assisted by Fox News data showing the degree of failure in all zones. Newsom used the “po’ little me” reasoning that the Dems use to sway voters.
They both did a good job representing their philosophies. It will add well to the data base the American public has to make its decision in November. IMHO, I really think we will have a good picture this year about how successful the uniparty has been convincing a majority of the public that the gimme mentality is the one to follow.
