Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler trimmed for speed, with security back-up.

When Portland, OR, Mayor Ted Wheeler dropped in to check out the “peaceful protest” action down at the Federal courthouse Wednesday night in his spiffy REI riot casuals and dual purpose Covid-19 / riot mask with matching riot goggles, he seemed a little surprised to find himself in the midst of… a riot. Perhaps he had not been following all the Twitter videos of what looked like a Road Warrior free-for-all, what with the Antifa soldiers ripping down fences, banging wrecking bars through the ground-floor protective barriers, shooting roman candles and laser-beams at the pitifully small crew of federal officers, and hurling rocks, bottles, human waste, and anything else at hand at them in their determination to bum-rush the entrance and burn the place down.

Mayor Wheeler also serves as the city’s police commissioner, but he apparently forgot to notify the department that something might require their attention down there on SW Third Ave. The Feds were on their own. Mayor Ted made his way to the front of the mob, pulled on his chin while surveying the colorful scene and then — surprise — the mob discovered he was among them and turned its ire on him, crying, in Antifa vernacular, “Fuck you, Ted” and “Resign, asshole!” As a few bottles and gobs of suspicious liquid flew his way he began to comprehend that his grandstanding wasn’t appreciated, and he withdrew to the safety of his nearby mayoral aerie with his security detail.

Afterward, in a press release, he observed: “What I saw last night was powerful in many ways. I listened, heard, and stood with protesters. And I saw what it means when the federal government unleashes paramilitary forces against its own people.”

Yes, it was a “teachable moment” for Mayor Ted, as so many acts of violent idiocy are supposed to be in this summer of social justice, a national struggle session à la Mao Zedong to re-educate the obtusely privileged multitudes to the insidious menace of “systemic racism.” How’s it working? Well, those multitudes are taking it all in, for sure, and perhaps concluding on their own that a teachable moment is not exactly the same as a leadership moment, and that this phantom of systemic racism may not be all that it’s cracked up as.

Anyway, Mayor (and Police Commish) Ted soon hurled his own thunderbolt at the Feds —a citation for obstructing a city bike path by placing protective fences on it. There’s leadership for you!  Take that, Donald Trump, you big Hitlerscheiss! Perhaps Mayor Ted is thinking his exemplary valor may put him in a position to replace the mentally-disabled Democratic Party front-runner, Joe Biden, as the nauseating task of actually daring to nominate him approaches in just a few weeks (and if She-Whose-Turn-Was-Cancelled stands aside).

As for the Antifas, a tiny corner of one’s moral sensibility must be reserved to pity their plight. Nobody can say for sure how many are drawn from the student body of nearby Portland State University — a hothouse of Wokesterism —  a few blocks from Riot Central. But I bet a lot of them. There, they have been rigorously trained in critical race theory, intersectionality, gender studies, and all the other preparations for a fruitful adulthood in Wokesterdom, and now, alas, the diversity departments all over the land are not hiring! What to do?

The global economy is in a tailspin from corona virus, actually close to augering clean into ground-zero, and their services may not be required… for anything! I’d be demoralized, too, were I twenty years old. To make matters worse, the cafes, craft beer joints, and twee little vegan lunch bars are shut down, along with the music halls and every other arts venue, and who has any money? Their intersectional bodies are roiling with youthful hormones, with an assist from weed and other stimulants. What better way to work off all that energy on a warm summer night than to riot in the streets against a society that has actually prepared them for nothing except protesting the unfairness of life.

Back in what’s left of the real world of adults ‘n’ stuff, though, there is the age-old question of public order. Evidently, the Democratic-brand mayors and governors think they see a political advantage in chaos, the destruction of property, and bodily injury to citizens, including murder. What exactly was Mayor Ted Wheeler doing at the riot down at Portland’s Federal Building on Wednesday night? Was he showing support for the action? Sure looked like it. And is it possible that Governor Kate Brown approves and encourages it, too? She has not used the Oregon State Police to restore order. Maybe it’s time to just bypass the game-playing before any more people get hurt and charge these politicians with assisting insurrection under federal law (18 U.S. Code § 2383). And put them on trial in the same building that their Antifa mob is trying to burn down.

It is all collapsing Jim and the rot of the corrupt cities is driving the herd out into the hinterlands for safety. In Western Jersey, New Yorkers are beating each other senseless over for sales homes out here. How long before the rot follows them and the decay spreads? I don’t think we have two years left to this rotted from the head down game. A World Made ByHand is Upon us.

    • Daddyotis July 24, 2020 at 3:18 pm #

Agreed, Walter. Best everyone be getting their affairs in order. A World Made By Hand May yet be upon us as a result of this. I’m more interested in how the reset will go down at this point though, and try to position myself and my family best for getting through it.

Life in the WMBH didn’t seem all bad, and the thought of living in that peaceful upstate New York village which Jim set the novels in seemed actually desirable to me.

Warp drives are out, and impulse engines are failing, Jim. We can’t hold on much longer on these lithium crystals before the Klingons arrive. You will have to plot a course to the nearest starbase, captain.

You can’t run it on lithium crystals. You need dilithium crystals. I’m not going on your trip to Rigel III.

        • Robert White July 24, 2020 at 6:50 pm #

Oh yeah, dilithium. I’d have to look in the Trekie dictionary for the Rigel III reference, Bill. Rigel 2, 4, 7, and 12 are first season.

It’s been years since I watched.

      > It is all collapsing

In my opinion “being collapsed” (for private, albeit temporary gain) would be a better fit, at least from my POV.

I think the idea of a multicultural land of Kumbaya and kente cloths recedes further into the distance every hour but the notion of America and the freedoms many haven taken for granted looks pretty good when put up against the alternative in places like Portland.

Maybe because I’m a little younger than many commenting here, I feel energized by this contrast. Western Civilization has always thrived when under threat. Prolonged good times produce weakness, complacency and in many, self-loathing. Nothing like a little existential struggle to disabuse all but the weakest of those pathologies. It’s all anecdotal but a lot of people I’ve spoken to over the last month or so sound more patriotic than I’ve ever heard and are steeling themselves for the fight ahead. Weapon sales through the roof are a fairly reliable canary in that coal mine. Aux armes, citoyens indeed…

        • SoftStarLight July 24, 2020 at 11:17 am #

I couldn’t be happier if the idea of a multicultural land of Kumbaya and kente cloths would be dispensed with for good. Even that would be a major change. I think we are already in the midst of that kinetic struggle you are referring to.

          • Kim July 25, 2020 at 6:46 pm #

            @ SoftStarLight

You want to see an end to the impossible Kumabaya land but at the same time – according to your remarks below – want to pile onto gultiless whites an impossible responsibility for blacks?

Blacks who hate, hate, hate whites.

When people talks about Whites pathologcal altruism, this is what they mean. It is racial and civilizational suicide.

          • SoftStarLight July 27, 2020 at 12:40 am #

Well I am not suggesting to add any guilt to anyone. But was pointing out that a lot of Whites already express guilt for slavery and/or some sort of allegiance to BLM. So my point was that given many Whites think something must be done for the blacks then while we are at it we should indulge their wish for a separate nation. And if their nation fails so be it. The reality will probably be that no agreement or solution will occur outside of direct conflict though.

        • shotho July 24, 2020 at 11:35 am #

There’s always a but . . . . But, so many of our population does not and never has shared the values of Western Civilization; afros, asians, latinos, moslems, etc. On top of that, the anglo-europeans are so ignorant and debased that it’s not reasonable they would support something that required them to work for a living. It’s not difficult to revive a culture if your people are amenable to it. I don’t believe that’s the case today.

          • Sredni Vashtar July 24, 2020 at 3:33 pm #

They must be jettisoned then. Traitors and fools let them in. We have no responsibility to continue on with such nonsense. The Blacks can be helped since we brought them here against their will. But that’s different then letting them help themselves to us. The Indians also earn some special provision. But that’s it.

          • King of Comedy July 24, 2020 at 7:26 pm #

            @shotho

            I disagree.

You’re gauging everything on one pathetic generation of white flagellants.

I’ve been reminded a lot this last month of the Adams quote: “I study war and politics so my son can study engineering and math, etc, etc ” but with a slight rephrasing:

“I teach my son war and politics and history so that he understands the unparalleled inheritance of Western Civilization that is his and he in turn will teach his son.”

As I said, this civilization thrives when challenged.

          • Kim July 24, 2020 at 9:32 pm #

            @ Sredni Vashtar

“The Blacks can be helped since we brought them here against their will. But that’s different then letting them help themselves to us. “

            Et tu, Sredni?

This view is ahistorical, morally faulty, contrary to experience, and lacking in pragmatism.

            1. Very few whites brought blacks to the United States or employed them and those who did are in any case no longer alive. Very many whites alive in the United States today do not even have ancestries that extend back to the early 19th C.

            2. Are we all today to answer for the actions of our ancestors? That is an entirely immoral position. Where does it end? How far back do we go? Who would be safe? A ludicrous idea.

            3. Blacks cannot be “helped” to become like whites. How many times must that stark, staring fact be proven?

            4. Scorpions bite frogs. You can be as nice as you wish. You can try to build up good will and trust and deep relationships with a scorpion. And then it will still bite you. Surely you know this. Why, once we have had a chance to break the cycle, sip on the virus and start it up all over again?

          • Sredni Vashtar July 24, 2020 at 10:33 pm #

Help them set up their own state to rule and no doubt ruin in the Deep South. No? Ok! What would you do then?

Fear not! Wind and Weather will take their course. You will have what you so urgently desire. But the game must be played.

Monroe Doctrine in place. No Chinese interference.

You have wronged me most grievously……

          • Kim July 25, 2020 at 2:02 am #

            @ Srendi Vashtar

What to do about blacks? Well, it is a fantasy question – isn’t it? – because practically speaking the only forseeable outcome if the USA continues to collapse at the current rate is that there will be no peacful solutions but only a literal race war.

Of course, there already is such a war, low-grade of course, and if it continues to expland then whites are certain to lose if they continue to have a mindset where they think that whites somehow are responssible for blacks or owe them something.

That is where this whole mess started – in mea culpas and an entirely undue idea of racial guilt and atonement.

But let’s imagine something that is not impossible – that the Federal and State governments collapsed and were no longer able to enforce anti-white and anti-civilizational racialist laws such as “positive discrmiantion” laws and laws that deprive whites of their rights to Freedom of Association.

In such a case, we might hope that authority would devolve to more compact or locally organized and responsive polities. In such a reduced scenario, grandious ideas of rounding up blacks and – guilt-free – shipping them to Freedomnia, Central Africa, would most definitely not be practical.

At the same time, counties that decided to continue the woke experiment in black-in-white handholding and singing Kumbaya would of course very quickly become murderous, human trash-parks. The bruised and bloodied bodies of such good-whites would very quickly be fertilizing the landscape in every direction around such places.

So whites who wished to survive and live in some kind of safety and community would not try to live like that. Instead, they would quickly re-institute laws that allow individuals and businesses to serve or not serve, exclude or not exclude as they see fit. In a very short time, you would find no more negroes in these communities because who – for heaven’s sake – would want them around, fighting, stealing, raping, sneaking, lazing?

Another important defensive and society-stabilizing issue to consider for those coming days is that more than a century of super-wealth has allowed vast heaps of dystopic trash to gather in the gutters of our social life. This trash must also be cleaned out, no matter its color.

To deal with that, I would recommend the much wider extension and application of a mandatory and compulsory sentence of death for crimes including 1) homicide 2) kidnap 3) assaults with deadly weapons 4) felonies committed while in possession of deadly weapons 5) rape involving violence, forcible entry, trespass, kidnap, restraint, or being committed in the course of other felonies.

This strikes me as a more realistic and practicable agenda than any idea of separation by sending negros into space, to Patagonia, or perhaps most fanciful of all, expecting them to live among whites in anything like a civilized way.

          • SoftStarLight July 25, 2020 at 1:06 pm #

I agree with Sredni that there is an inherent need to set up something for the blacks so that they can have a separate nation of their own. Doing so is a moral good because most of their ancestors were brought over here against their will. Nothing any one says can erase that fact and it doesn’t matter at this point in some ways who all was involved because to the extent it is water under the bridge now the popular culture doesn’t allow it to be. And clearly many Whites accept guilt for the whole history. So a conclusive action would be good for all parties. And if they fail then its not our problem anymore. It’s an inescapable and irresolvable problem as things currently stand.

        • sophia July 24, 2020 at 12:42 pm #

          King,

I agree with you.Not everyone is on board but the silent majority is, and yes, they are rethinking the meaning of our country.

Kim dares to speak the truth. To see the froth at the mouth of liberals trying to speak the right wokesterism for the day is to see insanity run amuck. A sharp blow to the head is to no avail. The disease is to deep but if you take a knee you will feel better. So sick of the shallowness of thought and mind.

This is a big game of chicken the “protestors” and their political class supporters are playing with Trump. They’re begging for him to overplay his hand now that they have him in a classic double-bind. If he does nothing he’s a feckless coward. If he responds, by sending in troops to protect federal property for example, he’s a dictator. Secret police, using unmarked cars, and secret jails! My guess is they’d like nothing better than for a few protestors to die at the hands of police. Then they would be martyrs and the mob would be justified

    • Nightowl July 24, 2020 at 10:32 am #

I think it’s rather he who has them in a precarious position. They must go all in now, showing their true colors.

And if they go all in, they lose at the ballot box and on the streets.

What you must also remember is that most people don’t want what is going on on the streets.

      The Uniparty is self-destructing.

      • Ron Anselmo July 24, 2020 at 11:44 am #

You’re right Nightowl, it’s Trump who has them in a corner, just as you say. Many times, most, there’s a method to his madness. He’s a 4-D chess player.

    • BackRowHeckler July 24, 2020 at 10:54 am #

“Rigorously trained in critical race theory, intersectionality and race studies …”

      Yeah, all the important stuff.

Can any one of them weld two pieces of steel together, operate a lathe or milling machine, repair a small engine, plot a course over open ocean, or hammer a nail without smashing his thumb? There was some pretty funny video a few nights ago from Portland, a young Spartacus lighting a molotov cocktail to toss into the Federal Court House, but something went wrong, the flammable liquid spilled all over himself, and he was engulfed in fire. These morons even suck at being revolutionaries.

Agree with these gentlemen. They may have outsmarted themselves. The average American is going to go with Law & Order. They seem like maniacs and fools. He waited and waited, giving them the chance to do something about it. They didn’t. They screwed themselves.

      • Kim July 24, 2020 at 9:41 pm #

Out of curiosity, and on the suggestion of Youtube (they thought I might like it), I visited CNN on Youtube yesterday.

I scanned the comments. Many thouands of them. Wow. People are deeply, deeply prgrammed.

        1. They are utterly, unreasonably, hystrically terrified of this flu – if schools re-open, we will all die

        2. Trump is Hitler and is planning a coup and that is why he has sent the DHS to Portland.

        Really. People believe this.

        • Sredni Vashtar July 24, 2020 at 10:43 pm #

Yeah, who knows? I don’t believe in Democracy and it’s a roll of the dice anytime the People are allowed any say. The means of gaining their assent are typically the lowest possible. That being said, Trump’s ad anent Defund the Police is right on the money.

A very small percentage are qualified and only they should have the right. Maybe a graduated citizenship, with the qualifications less strict for the State level, and less again for the local. On serious issues, the higher could overrule the foolishness of the lower.

        • Pat Ormsby July 25, 2020 at 5:30 am #

I’m still wondering where this idea that Trump is going full Hitler in Oregon came from. I encountered it for the first time yesterday on Op-Ed News, which has always been left-leaning but has allowed participation by people with quite diverse views. But with the editor now in panic mode over what “Trump is doing,” his most loyal writers are gradually abandoning the site. If Trump is Hitler, it seems no dissent can be allowed. It’s an emergency as they see it. The silent majority view there turns up in the “likes,” and it is two-to-one against the panic.Likewise with what was yesterday the top-read article at the site, which posted statistics from the CDC and said COVID is basically over. The editor came on and tried to discredit his top science writer. It does not fit the party line, I guess.
I wound up feeling quite disturbed over this and came over here to see what you all were making of Portland. Seems to be about what I was gathering from the fractured bits of news I’ve seen.

          • benr July 25, 2020 at 10:41 am #

            @pat

All I needed to see at that site was the poll put up about what people will do with their protest check from George Soros.
The choices are peek at insanity.
            Talk about alternate reality.
That web site alone telegraphs a very simple message that America can’t survive with the people who read that site or think in the same manner.

        • redrock July 25, 2020 at 11:56 am #

Scary huh? Hopefully the conflict escalates soon. My ammunition is approaching it’s use by date.

        • Ricechex July 25, 2020 at 5:34 pm #

I completely agree. My friends that are mostly white, spout off what comes at them from the MSM. They are all responsible citizens. Law abiding. Pays taxes. The normal stuff.

One friend stated in accusatory fashion (geez where did she learn that) “you think that is right that Trump brought in federal agents?” I said, “yes, but not enough of them, he needs more.” I asked her what she thinks would be the right solution. She stated that social workers should go in and/or they should just protect the building. I asked how should they protect the building if there are violent thugs in front of it?” She really had no answer and started a lecture on how they are snatching people off the streets.

I noted that a very prominent freeway interchange sign in San Diego has the BLM defiling it. I have no idea how they could do it, you would have to have special trucks and equipment that the city might have. I’m saying it’s an inside job.

I asked another friend to assist with trying to open a document I was unable to do at home. He was also unable to do so, but texted me “can’t open your right wing facist government doc.” The doc was my evaluation, nothing political at all. Total TDS.

Even a Jewish friend of mine compared Trump to Hitler. So wrong on so many levels.

One friend is panicked about COVID and blames Trump. He is about to lose his career permanently, because it is unlikely that small community theater will come back and he is the Box Office Manager. He still blames Trump. He’s in his early 50’s and basically was raised in front of a TV while his mom worked in factory.

Two of the above noted friends, think Biden is perfectly comprehensible and there is nothing wrong with him. They both say “look at Trump! Biden makes more sense than him!” One lady sells diabetes monitors and goes in and out of nursing homes (before COVID) as a part of her job. She can recognize dementia quite well, but not in the case of Joe Biden.

I think many people have been programmed since very early ages, so they are very receptive to what MSM spouts off. Anyone remember the book, “The Plug In Drug”? (1977).

  4. stelmosfire July 24, 2020 at 10:34 am #

These supposed protesters after midnight have lots of energy. Obviously they do not get up at 6 AM to go to a job. On a different note I know a pot shop owner. They were shut down for the Covid but are now open for the past few weeks. 1.5 mil gross sales in 3 weeks. Most cars from NY,NJ,CT, and other states. People will travel for the weed and the gov. gets a 25% cut. I suggested that business will seriously drop off when ganja is legal federally everywhere. What’s wrong with turning the people into a bunch of laid back lazy dope smokers?

    • Robert White July 24, 2020 at 11:12 am #

Marijuana binezz never drops off In CANUCKISTAN, man. Government pot sales are way up and so too are the black markets.
Moreover, as the resident pot smoker on CFN I, for one, would never say that pot smokers were lazy.

I am NOT a lazy pot head. I cook in, and clean my rented ghetto slum unit every day. My lazy brother does nothing.

I am chief cook and bottle washer around here, stelmo.

I’m thinking there is going to be a Kent State moment where someone starts shooting. Would make sense for Antifa to stage it. Of course in Chicago it wouldn’t be noticed given the natives are gunning one another down in wholesale numbers. The democrats must win in November and it is necessary they take the congress. This is so the collapsed democrat run cities and states can fund their ridiculous pension plans that the public unions have “negotiated” over the years. The illegals which used to be known as “wetbacks” also need some spending money. This needs to be done fast though before the US currency won’t be worth a kleenex.

This is what collapse looks like. It won’t come as a surprise for SS deposits not to be made next year or payments from any sort of pension. Wait for it.

The loss of shale oil has been important. Yes, was unprofitable but nonetheless it was still real and still allowed work to be done. But now the USA is going from production of 18 mbd to maybe 10 mbd. Consider what that means. What if for some reason the people of the United States could get only half of their accustomed daily calories. There would be significant weight loss, right?

In Venezuela today, 40% of households are staying afloat on money they receive from overseas. That is fine for them, receiving US dollars, but how many Americans are going to receive money from abroad as their financial situation sinks? And what currency would they receive it in?

People have been buying guns and ammo in record amounts. That is wise, but people might also consider as well filling a spare room with sandbags (you can put the kids safe in there from stray bullets in case there is any shooting) and buying a high-capacity fire extinguisher.

No but I’ll tell you where you can get it. In his statements yesterday he very definitely was able to say that he was not afraid of catching covid from people around him. Read between the lines, it is as clear as a bell.

But even big 12 year old brains can figure this one out SSL. Yet dim 45 year old brains are confused at the notion. This observation really does tell you where you are.

A quick search gave me this and a camera crew at a White House Covid Briefing has been overheard talking about ‘everyone here is vaccinated’.

    https://www.politico.eu/article/germany-confirms-that-donald-trump-tried-to-buy-firm-working-on-coronavirus-vaccine/

If a promising vaccine was tested on 200 servicemen on an Alaskan Air Force Base and none of them developed complications I’d take the vaccine in a heartbeat.. So would you and so would 9 of 10 people reading this. Grow a brain.

You can have my shot. It’s the first vaccine to alter DNA and full of formaldehyde, aluminum, and mercury – all excellent neurotoxins.

I haven’t had a vaccine in 50 years. I try to go to the store almost every day to build my immune system. I make sure to touch everything, wear my mask below my nose, and don’t wash my hands when I return home.

I take vitamin C, D, zinc, selenium, quercitin, and elderberry. Covid was running rampant in my organization in February and March. Everybody became very ill, but I did not succumb. A diet high in fruits, vegetables, and small amounts of carbs and protein is also important.

      • stelmosfire July 24, 2020 at 12:14 pm #

JS, Zinc is bad news also. try welding some galvanized steel and get back to me if you don’t think so. Aluminum, mercury, zinc, lead all no good. Moderation is the key. We all get it all the time. Just don’t overdo it.

        • sharonsj July 24, 2020 at 3:05 pm #

Nonsense. A small amount of zinc daily keeps you healthy. I take 50 mg every morning. I used to get bronchitis all the time; now I never even get a bad cold.

        • Robert White July 24, 2020 at 3:58 pm #

I had to weld the trunk of my 1966 Acadian Canso Sport Deluxe and used galvanized for the inner wheel wells and trunk patches. I used my Miller Mig Flux-core 0.030 wire and it stank like Hell, but I tried not to breathe as I was welding.

I spent about 6 hours welding that area of the car and did not end up sick. Whether brain damage occurred is not known, but I seem to be okay. Many metals are toxic via dust particulate. Artists have to watch out for all materials utilized. I’ve seen artists that were working with shells from sea creatures that were highly toxic when the dust particles were inhaled.

Even wood dust is bad for the lungs, eh.

They’re a whole new type of vaccine

If an mRNA vaccine was approved for coronavirus, it would be the first of its type. ‘It’s a very unique way of making a vaccine and, so far, no (such) vaccine has been licenced for infectious disease,’ said Prof. Bekeredjian-Ding.

Too true, StE. The thing about a vaccine for Covid19, though, is that scientists think it may not work well for older or health-compromised people (who need it most) so they will be relying on younger people to get vaccinated.

A couple of interesting videos from zdoggMD – don’t know if anyone is a follower. I’m not quite, but I’ve listened to him on a few topics and he’s always interesting.

This short one is on immunity, antibodies and vaccines:

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XH22NmL07PM

And this longer one would be useful to certain people who claim they know what they’re talking about when it comes to masks and social distancing.

zdoggMD is a doctor who changed his mind on masks as the evidence grew. Unlikely that either of the people I have in mind is capable of doing the same but this chat on herd immunity, masks, and avoiding lockdowns is interesting for the more open minded.

            @ stelmosfire

Vaccines are a good thing. Anti-vaxxers would prefer to be covered in smallpox sores. That is their right as long as they can keep it to themselves.

The smallpox variolation process pretty much transformed demographics worldwide. Among its many obvious benefits in the 19th C was its contribution to ending the Asian slave trade as human labor ceased over time to be in shortage everywhere.

However, the smallpox variolation was something extremely simple. It involved taking the pus or the dried scab from an infected person – perhaps imported from India or China, often
keeping the virus alive in the form of deliberately infected orphan children – and then either scratching the surface of the skin with a virus-bearing pin or inhaling the powdered scab through the nostrils.

That was it. No need for mercury-based preservatives like thimerasol or any of the other posions that are used in modern vaccines.

So the comparison you make with smallpox vaccination is not valid. The smallpox vaccine and modern vaccines are not the same kinds of things at all.

“Covid was running rampant in my organization in February and March. Everybody became very ill…” == JS

Strange – that doesn’t support the general narrative on here, which is that it’s a hoax corona-cold only rarely showing symptoms. And among working-age people too… But useful to have a perspective based on observation rather than theorising, even if it’s anecdotal.

        • benr July 26, 2020 at 10:44 am #

As do I how ever they did not pump those vaccines with some of the toxic crap they have added to the modern ones for a stable shelf life.
Polysorbate 80 which is also added to food and cosmetics really should not be taken internally much less passed through the blood brain barrier via needles.
          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polysorbate_80

Thimerosal is a mercury-containing organic compound (an organomercurial). Since the 1930s, it has been widely used as a preservative in a number of biological and drug products, including many vaccines, to help prevent potentially life threatening contamination with harmful microbes.

The term mad as a hater came from using mercury in felt hat fabrications, could the insanity levels being displayed not be induced by to much mercury in vaccines and food?

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mad_as_a_hatter

Formaldehyde is a highly toxic systemic poison that is absorbed well by inhalation. The vapor is a severe respiratory tract and skin irritant and may cause dizziness or suffocation. Contact with formaldehyde solution may cause severe burns to the eyes and skin and yet it is also present in some vaccines.

Yet they are putting some of that in vaccines!
Read the inserts there is a concoction of toxic shit in most of them.

Add Aluminium to that toxic list.
Most vaccines contain materials to enhance the immune response to them and aluminium salts are one such material.
Aluminium has shown to cause adverse effects, including damage to the brain and nervous system.

With all that said vaccines are important but they should consider making them fresh and locally so shelf life is not as important and the host of toxic chemicals can be left out.

          Flu vaccine insert:
          https://www.fda.gov/media/119856/download

          Polio:

Life is dangerous and life is better as a result of vaccines and to a large part how much cleaner everything is in the western world but knowing some of what I know I would not get all the vaccines proposed for kids today if I had to do it all over with my daughter.

No, K-Dog I’m not projecting my motivations onto the rioters. I’m saying that the people out there and elsewhere are hyper-sensitive to any chance to portray themselves as victims. It happened instantly when Trump sent the Feds in to protect property. All of a sudden the people committing mayhem for over 50 days were victims of an evil dictator. This has been seen elsewhere, most notably in St. Louis where the couple defending their lives and home are portrayed as the aggressors and the mob who destroyed property, trespassed, and threatened them are somehow the victims.

What do you mean when you say, “I’m not sure we even have a cause..” Are you among the “protestors”?

  10. shabbaranks July 24, 2020 at 11:04 am #

Mayor Wheeler actually got up and spoke to the crowd, like that other political failure, Mayor Jacob Frey of Minneapolis. Wheeler declared his support for BLM. He was asked if he would “defund” the police. He said no, he would not. He was quickly shouted down. He had a group of plain clothes police officers around him the entire time to protect him since the rioters next to the Mark O. Hatfield Federal Courthouse have repeatedly and violently assaulted numerous persons, some quite egregiously, often at random. He was later pelted with water and water bottles and had to be shielded when he was grabbed by several rioters as he returned to the “Justice Center”, ie. the central police station, located next to the Hatfield Courthouse.

Background on Ted Wheeler: He is the descendant of the founder of one of the six companies that were combined to created Willamette Industries, a large timber company that was purchased by Weyerhaeuser in 2002 for nearly $8 billion. He possesses an elite educational trifecta pedigree, having earned degrees from Stanford, Columbia and Harvard. He is personally worth north of $10 million. His mother just passed away, so perhaps he stands to inherit more money. His wife of many years has announced she is divorcing him, and thus he has moved out their house.

He faces a close run-off race for reelection as mayor, having failed to garner >50% of the primary vote total. His opponent is far further left politically than he is, so it is plausible that he is attempting to carve off a piece of her supporters by showing some sympathy towards their support for anarchical behavior that has been tolerated in Portland for the better part of four years.

On balance, Ted Wheeler has been the worst mayor in Portland in a long, long time. However, there are a number of mind-numbing radicals lining up to serve on Portland City Council, intent on implementing all sorts of social planning schemes to satisfy their moralization in the midst of this Great Awakening religious revival.

Liberalism’s secret motto: No enemies to the Left. After all, it is always “moving on” and progressing TO the Left. But hilariously, the Left does not return the favor and hates them with a passion, seeing nothing BUT enemies to the Right.

As Project Veritas uncovered, when one of Bernie’s campaign managers said he’d like to drag MSNBC reporters by their hair out onto the streets and then set them on fire. Thus Liberals are utter dupes, their promised land being a Hell full of demons who want to torture them.. One is reminded of their ideological opposite numbers: Zio-Christians who support a people who despise them.

If you know what the cause is let us know, there has been a lack of clarity with random nonsensical demands at the fore.

I contend that Trump fucked up by giving the protest and riot a focus it had not had before.

If we were not in the midst of a pandemic I’d call for leadership and organized non-violent daytime protest with claear demands which make sense and protest that would evaporate at dusk and leave the Trump brownshirts with nothing to do.

It is not a matter of being for or against the protest. It is a matter of caring about what is appropriate, and not.

    • JohnAZ July 24, 2020 at 11:22 am #

      You amaze me.

I contend that Trump messed up by giving the protest and riot a focus.

If the rioters, not protestors, had started doing more bad stuff, which they will, you would criticize Trump for not jumping in there faster to quell the riots, not protests.

Just like the Covid19. He did not react fast enough. It must be easy to comment on Trump, whatever he does, fast reaction of slow reaction, or no reaction, he is wrong. That sure makes social commentary easy.

I watched the videos of the Mayor bravely going into the protest zone and telling them he’s standing with them (as they scream obscenities at him) and then beat a retreat. Perhaps he was born without a backbone and one never grew b/c he certainly doesn’t have one now. I don’t understand why a mayor won’t simply say — “You have the right to protest peacefully but if it turns violent, I will call in the police to disband it immediately. Part of my job is ensuring the safety of the citizens in this city and I will not negotiate with their safety. Period.” And then do it.

On a lighter note, Stanford University has been found to be a hot bed of systemic racism and will soon be set straight. In an open letter to the vile racists running the place here are a few demands:

“the letter commands the administration to guarantee a job for 100 percent of black postdocs and to provide two black career counsellors for every ‘marginalized’ grad student. The school must not only assist but finance black protest movements (sorry, ‘nonviolent liberatory practices’). No less than $3 million must bankroll ‘improved quality of life and well-being’ for black students, including: campus shuttle service to black spiritual meetings; one black therapist for every five black grad students (while any ‘non-black therapists at Stanford must complete training to address white privilege’); more on-campus black fitness instructors, black-owned restaurants and ‘black estheticians skilled in caring for and styling black hair textures’. “

Most assuredly they can and they are often bigots towards other black people with lighter or darker skin.

Years ago, we were cleaning out furniture from an apartment. We gave most of it to a black family. They helped load the truck and we took it to another part of the complex. When we arrived, a six or seven year old girl said, “Who are all these f’ing white people?” Aside from her appalling lack of home training, I realized she had been taught those attitudes. Her family was apparently able to hide it better, especially when free furniture was involved.

Blacks in Science Departments have been known to camp out in the Departmental Office when the Department didn’t invite them to continue on to the doctorate level. Their cry of “racism” could be translated as a plaintive, “I’m smart”.

Wouldn’t it be better not to let unqualified people into Masters programs to begin with? Or better yet, into the undergraduate program? I mean if it’s going to end up with them being mentally ill because they subconsciously realize they don’t belong there, it will be cruel to continue to give them a free pass.

And when Whites go to Black estheticians in protest, the Black barbers will say, I don’t know how to cut White hair….

    • Karah July 25, 2020 at 3:02 am #

I have not watched “the video(s)”. But I can imagine what it was like…much like what it was like for the dude who wanted to ask the fed guards a question about oaths…but with the private security.

Did y’all notice the fires did not get out of hand? It must have been because most of the trash was plastic and whatever the feds are using to clad the fed building is not flammable.

Where can I get some of that fire resistant board? Did you see any ads pop up (before, during or after the videos) for that stuff?

I READ a report in the Epoch Times that named all 18 people who got charged with federal crimes…they averaged in age about 20 something. They are all awaiting a trial by a jury of their peers. What is THAT going to look like? Should be plenty of jurors available since most 20 somethings have no jobs. And how long will it take to have 18 jury trials with the covid-19 spreading like wildfire? It’s all done on ZOOM or SKYPE, right?
“I advise the jury to keep looking into the camera and do not get up for any reason until I say so and do not fall asleep!” – Judge

Most jury trials I have seen have been for County offenses and not federal…is there much of a difference? No one walks into these things knowing ALL the law and we have to pay close attention.
How do the prosecutors define “insurrection” and “peaceful protest”?

Finally, what kind of life can one lead with a criminal conviction? Mark them off the voting rolls! The mayor is wasting his time with them!

      • stelmosfire July 25, 2020 at 8:02 am #

Convicted felons can vote in many states. Some can even vote while still behind bars.I just received my mail in vote “papers” . no need to prove who I am. Fill out the form and send it in. Ballot will come in the mail. What could possibly go wrong? I could follow the mailman and scoop up all the ballets. Probably a federal offense but hey, that does not count in these days of rage.

This fake scripted staged paid theater is playing internationally. Two days back we had our version paid professional commies vandalize the national symbol, the Menorah, as a “protest”. The police and the gov mafia did nothing. The commie MSM hostile foreign occupation, lauded the act of vandalism, and the disgracing our national monument and symbol.

This is a test of force by global demonic power players. They’re testing the waters and gauging our reaction. That’s how they work. That’s how Hitler did it. That’s how every dictatorship does it. It would be a sin and a catastrophe for generations not to answer these demonic players and their paid agents with total savagery and complete annihilation.

    • akmofo July 24, 2020 at 11:13 am #

    • SoftStarLight July 24, 2020 at 11:31 am #

Wow are you serious!? I didn’t hear about it. No doubt the global Satanists are flexing their muscles now that they see how pliable large swaths of the population have been since the lockdowns. They are taking advantage and this is like their scorched earth now with the riots and civilization erasing. I can’t believe they could get away with it in Israel though. That is not a good sign.

      • akmofo July 24, 2020 at 12:03 pm #

We have very compromised police chiefs, very compromised supreme court judiciary, very compromised prosecutors, a very compromised federal legal advisor, and a paralyzed “unity” government. When I say compromised, it means they are corrupt brazen criminals, controlled by foreign agents and a Satanic foreign agenda. Obviously this didn’t happen overnight. But it happened because people are too passive and “civil” to properly deal with commies. People are also too mindful of the commie MSM hostile foreign occupation and its propaganda. It’s way past time to neutralize and dismember them.

        • SoftStarLight July 24, 2020 at 1:26 pm #

I’m glad you bring it up because some of us have been lulled into believing that Israel has been immune from the communist subversion. And as they have done here so it sounds they have done there. They are everywhere in every institution. And yet they are everywhere claiming they are the oppressed. And they use that as a battering ram. It is actually a simple matter of self defense at this point to neutralize such an insidious and alien threat.

This reminds me of the ‘Crosby Kids’ type talk on you tube called, ‘Hey White People’

White people, here are 10 requests from a Black Lives Matter leader
    Aug 16 2017

    By Chanelle Helm

[This article is part of a package covering Louisville’s reaction to Charlottesville. Check out the other pieces, including Ricky Jones’ column “Black People Should Arm Themselves Now!” and Erica Rucker’s “America… where are you going?”]

Some things I’m thinking about that should change (in that Southern, black grandmama voice):

    1. White people, if you don’t have any descendants, will your property to a black or brown family. Preferably one that lives in generational poverty.

    2. White people, if you’re inheriting property you intend to sell upon acceptance, give it to a black or brown family. You’re bound to make that money in some other white privileged way.

    3. If you are a developer or realty owner of multi-family housing, build a sustainable complex in a black or brown blighted neighborhood and let black and brown people live in it for free.

    4. White people, if you can afford to downsize, give up the home you own to a black or brown family. Preferably a family from generational poverty.

    5. White people, if any of the people you intend to leave your property to are racists assholes, change the will, and will your property to a black or brown family. Preferably a family from generational poverty.

    6. White people, re-budget your monthly so you can donate to black funds for land purchasing.

    7. White people, especially white women (because this is yaw specialty — Nosey Jenny and Meddling Kathy), get a racist fired. Yaw know what the fuck they be saying. You are complicit when you ignore them. Get your boss fired cause they racist too.

    8. Backing up No. 7, this should be easy but all those sheetless Klan, Nazi’s and Other lil’ dick-white men will all be returning to work. Get they ass fired. Call the police even: they look suspicious.

    9. OK, backing up No. 8, if any white person at your work, or as you enter in spaces and you overhear a white person praising the actions from yesterday, first, get a pic. Get their name and more info. Hell, find out where they work — Get Them Fired. But certainly address them, and, if you need to, you got hands: use them.

    10. Commit to two things: Fighting white supremacy where and how you can (this doesn’t mean taking up knitting, unless you’re making scarves for black and brown kids in need), and funding black and brown people and their work.

To Chanelle Helm: some things that I’m thinking should change, 1. Black women should stop having 5 kids by 4 different baby daddies. That would fix a lot of YOUR problems right out of the gate. Now, I don’t really care about the sex lives of black people, except that it seems to cost the taxpayers money. There are 2 kinds of people in the world, people who HAVE problems, which is all of us, and people who ARE problems.

      • SoftStarLight July 24, 2020 at 11:50 am #

Simply put but perfectly to the point.

        • rainmaker July 24, 2020 at 12:05 pm #

Thanks, SSL. Everyone here may think that I’m just regurgitating old racist trope, but I’m going to tell you, I know these people. I have Thanksgiving, Xmas and Easter and birthdays with blacks, even though I am whiter than Liz Warren, and am always appalled at the lack of energy directed at improving one’s situation on display. A lot of the low class whiteys I know are just as ghetto. Could the problem be learned helplessness? That is my take on the problem. Thanks, social service “experts”, when this country currently called the USA is totally trashed, it will be because of your do-gooder efforts. They say the road to hell….

          • SoftStarLight July 24, 2020 at 1:18 pm #

Well it is probably learned helplessness in many cases but I do think there is plenty of taught helplessness happening. Maybe it will be better if the schools are closed. The level of indoctrination and the resources expended by the indoctrinators on their efforts can astound the mind. We are not here by happenstance. The “experts” make you think they are do-gooders, but they know exactly what evil they are working and they enjoy doing it. Look at all the little enthusiastic lockdown petty tyrants all around right now everywhere, including the teachers associations.

          • stelmosfire July 25, 2020 at 8:08 am #

Um, rainmaker. Liz Warren is a redskin. She said so. She is my Senator and of course I believe her. The laughs just keep on comin’

Imagine addressing a similar letter to “Black People”! This is proof of how deeply they hate us. They’re never going to forgive us.

Imagine cheating on your spouse and getting caught. You beg for forgiveness and they say they forgive you – but they don’t. They’re really staying with you to torment you forever.

They continue to torment and you continue to accept it because of your guilt. But then (hopefully), you realize this is crazy. And maybe the reason you cheated in the first place is because of how horrible they are.

    • UN OUT OF USA July 24, 2020 at 8:52 pm #

I guess Chanelle doesn’t think much of black people. Aren’t black people capable of managing their own lives? If racism is so “systemic” in the USA, how on earth did people like Oprah Winfrey become a billionaire? How did Colin Powell become a general and SoS? How did Condoleeza Rice become SoS? How did Robert L. Johnson become the first black billionaire (owner of BET)? I could go on and on but NONE of these wildly successfully black people did it by playing the victim role! They all worked their asses off. That’s America (or was anyway). Work hard and you will succeed. Feel sorry for yourself and blame others for everything and you will fail. Period.

      • Kim July 24, 2020 at 10:24 pm #

Even Comrades like K-Dog need to behave when on CFN as our host is not amused about this electoral round, and he despises the Democratic Party leadership as he understands them to be an unethical lot of corrupt politicians lacking in integrity.

Sometimes the calls Jim makes are fair and accurate. If I were American I might feel the same way, but I am a Canuck so I can’t tell.

If Jim honestly despises the Democratic Party who are we to doubt his professionalism?

I can see how he gets a little pissed off at commenters that don’t really respect his perspective on the political sleaze parties and polemics.

As a CANUCK I have to mind my manners given the tenuousness of this election, and potential outcome.

Placing perspective of others in perspective is the task at hand for everyone formally trained in Experimental Psychology and the Social Sciences. I majored in Personality Theory for my Experimental Psychology Honours B.A. degree. Moreover, I understand veteran writers, and writers that have been around the block five hundred million times more than non-writers with opinions ill informed compared to veteran writers that cover the historiography.

I started off in the Social Sciences looking at populations and associated inferential stats. Upon finishing my degree with a major in Personality Theory my focus was centered much more on idiographic analysis as opposed to nomothetic.

Understanding American individualism and the ethos of ‘rugged individualism’ that was borne out of the wild west Americanization of America is key to understanding idiographic assessment of individual Americans today.

Jim writes with 250 years of experience undergirding the historical clusterfuck of the USA, and culture.

His individualism is American, and it is informed by the historiography. The partisan zealots in opposition to Jim are less upfront about their biases than Jim is IMHO.

Our host gets credit where due because that is fair by my standards.

      https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/washington-secrets/mayors-back-reparations-could-cost-6-2-quadrillion-151m-per-descendant

“The study suggests a payment of $151 million each, and the cost to every person would be $18.96 million.”

The total net worth of America’s billionaires is $3.4 trillion. All the stock markets combined amount to $73 trillion. All world-wide bank notes, coins, and money deposited in savings or checking accounts is around $36.8 trillion.

This is what a quadrillion looks like written out: 1,000,000,000,000,000. A quadrillion is a million trillion! And they want 6.2 quadrillion!

    • thirdcoastlegend July 24, 2020 at 12:56 pm #

Eh, the rapper TI is not all that obscure in the wider pop culture.

He is using the media as a negotiating tool with his crazy ask. So, a permanent Woke government could come in and say, “Well, how about $4 trillion for the first round?” and they would accept it with glee.

Put another way, one could argue that this rapper is shifting the Overton window (the range of acceptable discourse) around reparations with his seemingly crazy statements.

      • SoftStarLight July 24, 2020 at 1:09 pm #

The attempt to shift the Overton window on reparations is actually nothing new. Reparations is an old idea. An old idea that perhaps could be preferable to Reparations is Repatriation. There is an Overton window for that too. Ghana has an outstanding offer. Interesting that more rappers and others aren’t embracing their brethren’s kindness.

        • rainmaker July 24, 2020 at 2:07 pm #

I’m all for the Reparations = Repatriation idea. Any blacks in the USA who apply for reparations should have to submit a proof of dual citizenship – American, and the country that they will move to when they get paid off. Any African country should be proud to welcome a rich FORMER American into the fold. The requirement of course being that the person receiving the reparations has to give up his American citizenship, and never come back. This should save the US a lot of money in the long run.

      Over and over.

We live in a competitive society. Letters like this show the Black leadership’s acknowledgement of the inferiority of the Black community so that they need special attention to attempt to keep up. This “inferiority” has been the excuse for the inability of the Black American community To compete in America.

If, beyond a few nuts, if the White community is guilty of anything, it is not paying attention to the Black Communities inability to compete as they rocket along in their own direction. Not targeting anything, just ignoring the problem

BLM does not want equality, that has been shown through the decades to not be possible. They want a separate system for Black folks so they can compete easier. The problem with having a separate Black community is that they would be begging the rest of America with bailouts within a generation.

This applies to to political entities such as BLM. Most of the Black folks I have worked with over the years were very able to take care of themselves without bailouts. Who are the folks supporting the idea that Blacks are inferior and must be “cared for”? Look Left! The real slavery chains still exist.

The best way to compete is to be on top and not have to. And let’s face it, they are no slouches when it comes to keeping Whites in line through, guilt tripping, intimidation, and the threat of the old ultra violence – a credible threat needless to say.

The real Elite has chosen well in putting them above Whites as figure heads. The Nick Cannon case illustrates who is really on top.

It was somewhat disappointing to see General Honore’ castigating attempts by outnumbered Federal agents to prevent arson on a Federal Court Building. His Katrina responsibilities are well remembered, with sorry inclusion of the Arena horror unfolding under his nose. The General is not first with “Jack Booted Thugs”; famously uttered decades ago by George H.W. Bush regarding BATF activities he did not approve of…

There is OLD technology to deal with the current tactics in play at these proceedings…. Netting, thrown over vandals. The ones near the buildings with tools and bottles. Not easily accompllshed, so messy rounding up is the order of the day. There is also a spray material, producing results akin to spider’s web

With more talk about the end being near, Famine Hedge again comes to mind. Maybe Jim K. can give a book report on William Forstchen’s “ONE SECOND AFTER” The stage is set for a “False Flag” event, a big one like nuclear detonations iTroposphere.
bringing EMP impacts to utilities & food distribution. There is a long list of (wannabe empires) suspects if such a thing occurred, so expect a free-for-all…On land, Sea and Air. Ideal to get Obama era crooks off the screen.

Refraining from going overlong, sprinkling 1000’s of able-bodied arsonists among recommissioned Army RR Battalions -after due training in the niceties of following Constitutional orders, seems poetic justice No Moms needed on this Famine Hedge requisite.

The problem with your spiderweb catching of the RIOTERS is that the local authorities would just release them back onto the streets the next day with no bail.

Now if they could be arrested using FEDERAL charges we might be getting somewhere! Get them all locked up for ten years minimum.

Either way, I hear one can NEVER get that spiderweb material out of their eyebrows.

In Chicago where Black Lives Matter, murder count up to 89 for the month of July. There is no question 100 dead will be reached by July 31, and then some.

Chicago’s distinguished Mayor is cutting several hundred million from the police budget, which seems counterintuitive, but must adhere to some kind of lefty logic I can’t figure out. Last night the mayor had the Columbus Statue removed from Grant Park, which you might think would calm things down with the stirred up citizenry, but no, there have been several killings n the city since the century old monument has been disappeared.

Not officially, of course, but unofficially and probably not so subtly. It has happened throughout history.

It will be fought in the cities. It will really be weird. It will lead to the breakdown of the supply chains into the cities. The leadership of the city dwellers and their illicit trades will move out of the cities as they can. It will be interesting to see if cities can exist without the fly over country. Or if the fly over country can exist while being run over by the outflow from the cities.

Who wins? China, Russia and George Soros who will get payback for his shorting the American economy.

Wall Street, Federal Reserve, Treasury Secretary, Securities and Exchange Commission, BlackRock Inc. et cetera, don’t give a rat’s arse about the American taxpayers.

Who wins by shorting Wall Street if Wall Street is merely a share buyback Ponzi scheme not unlike the very Ponzi that Madoff is serving federal prison time for?

Post-Lehman debacle Wall Street needed a patsy for the evidenced abuses prior to the downing of Bear Stearns, and Bernie Madoff was the chosen official in the investment world.

If we wait long enough on a long enough timeline we will see that Madoff was not the only one on Wall Street to be playing kingpin to a Wall Street Ponzi scheme run amok.

Subprime Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities are tanking en masse as we write here today. In 08 we evidenced the Residential Subprime MBS debacle whereas this iteration of financial implosion system wide is being caused by the Commercial Subprime MBS instead.

And American taxpayers are now on the hook financially for all the junk bonds that BlackRock Inc. is selling you through their networked pipeline right though to the Federal Reserve and U.S. Treasury via the complacency of the SEC.

Who wins when Ponzi schemes implode?

The little guys n’ gals that pay the tax to keep the Ponzi afloat, that’s who.

In New Haven yesterday, the mayor announced a new, enhanced Sanctuary City initiative, issuing a clarion call to refugees and illegals across the world that New Haven welcomes them, they just somehow have to make their way here and benefits await, not the least of which is free education, free medical care, and free housing.

It will be like the title of a Bond movie: “Forever Ends Tomorrow”.

What do I mean? I mean that this kind of thing can’t last long.

We have now had 50 years of the energy decline and a more or less smooth fall of living standards the whole way. Now, however, the jig is up. We are now into the step-down period, where we will get a series of very large and jolting falls.

That means that the “free” education that you speak of will be worth exactly what they pay for it, and the “free” medical will mean a Haitian nurse with a voodoo altar on her station and a doctor who just got off the plane from Bangalore, who speaks some incomprehensible form of English, was convicted in Britain of illegal touching and using chloroform on his female patients and is currently side-lining running the smoothie machine at 7-11. Oh, and mass vaccinations.

As for forever ending tomorrow, that is in any case just a reflection of the famously high time preferences of certain sections of the national community, who are so well-known for their impatience at – for example – the fast-food drive-thru window (to the point of violence) that I am sure that many of them do in fact equate tomorrow with a time so far in the future that it may as well be forever.

Hey John I forgot it was Friday morning and posted the following on Monday’s blog so here I will repeat it.

    John AZ,

This is for you. You won’t agree with him but it helps answer your question:
    https://twitter.com/GeneralDilley/status/1286349473413771265

    • JohnAZ July 24, 2020 at 1:26 pm #

      Sophia

I agree with him. I wonder what stress the normal meeting gestures absence will mean in the future. We make immediate social judgements based on observing people’s faces.
The weapon less handshake Has been a greeting mainstay for millennia.

The change with Covid may be a product of our data rich modern society. Without social media around, do you think this pandemic would have the universal reaction it has had? I, for one, watch the statistics daily and based on trends only, make judgements on what the politicos are doing to fight the disease. To date, no one has done much of anything. Six months after the beginning and we still do not have much of an idea of what is going to happen if and when we open schools.

Imagine just opening everything up right now with the dearth of knowledge that exists. Does anyone really know what will happen? IMHO, there will be a missive surge of new cases, deaths will rise slightly as the hospital and MD coverage will be overwhelmed. The virus will blast through until it runs through the public and there is no one else to infect. No more testing, a waste of resources and time. Just let her rip.

Little troubling studies, though, say that immunity is not a given and this crud may bounce back and forth, re-infecting folks. Studies say that kids under ten are not affected much but older 10-20 young people are definitely affected. It may be related to the thymus gland. Look it up.

Mitigation measures that you do not like may end up being the plan b that people are starting talk about. If vaccines are ineffective, living with the virus and minimizing its effects maybe the only respite from the crud.

I have posted before a tongue in cheek idea that the reason most greetings in Asia are non contact, at a distance, methods. Bowing being no. 1. Could it be that fighting epidemics over the millennia has developed the separation?

I realize masking has domination, psychological problems. Also that the model that masks block the inflow of viruses is very wrong. I believe masks do, however, block the transfer of air currents generated by senders and received by listeners. Those air currents carry the virus from donor to donee.

I do believe the current surge has been caused by young people, not kids, scofflawing the mitigation precautions and hugging, kissing, conversing close together without protection, having sex without protection. You can’t hurt me being a common motto with this group.

If people would stay six feet away from each other, allowing viruses t fall on the floor, masks would be superfluous. Unfortunately, we do not have that discipline.

Does society want to prevent the widespread infection and mitigate, or let her rip and get it over with, hopefully, with the increased mortality that overloading the health care system will entail?

Our politicians are supposed to be making this very critical decision for us.

That scares me worse than the virus.

      • sophia July 24, 2020 at 4:12 pm #

        John AZ,

Well, yes, one thing we forget is that the whole lockdown and facemask thing isn’t a simple matter of saving lives. When you shut down the world the collateral damage is huge.

You speak as though there is more that can or should be done to combat the disease. Perhaps you can’t admit that there are many things we can’t control and are part of life? What things do you have in mind?

You continue to speak out of both sides of your mouth. Is it some sort of tactic? Are you a sincere person? They have already opened schools in other countries and never closed them in others. The studies show children are at very little risk and don’t spread it either. How is this not good enough for you?

Little troubling studies say immunity is not a given. Other studies show that reinfection so far is extremely rare. Should we then starve the world indefinitely? Because if we wait until everything is completely safe from a cold virus we will wait forever. And if we rely on tests that have even a 1% false positive rate, we will never be free of this virus.

If masks do anything to block the outflow, it is only a matter of slowing it down. It is those particle suspended in the air which are most infectious. Those are not stopped by masks and even if they slow them down it won’t make much difference because they will be suspended in air for a while.

I also note that while you respond a bit to me you almost always ignore my real points. I hate to be rude, but I am beginning to wonder if you are on a payroll with an agenda to promote. If you agreed with that guy you would not respond as you have. I wasn’t asking you for agreement but just to let you know why some people are upset. For just one example, I asked you what you thought about the idea that while wearing a mask you breathe with more force. This would offset the advantage of perhaps slowing the momentum of the outbreath.

And by the way, most people are definitely doing the mitigation most of the time. Most people were locked away for 3 months and are barely coming out now. Most businesses have plexiglass and distancing tape on the floor. Lots of people do wear masks. How dare you say people aren’t obeying it? Kids kept home for months. My neighbors haven’t seen their grandchildren or children for 5 months. The other kids next door hasn’t seen another kid or nonfamily member for the same 5 months.
Nearly everything in my life that makes my life worth living has been cancelled, not because I want to but because everyone else does and the so-called reopening has not affected their fear levels at all.

And you should have noticed that the goalposts keep changing. We were never told that the virus would disappear. Now that is all you will accept before allowing me to smile at a baby in the grocery store who looked at me confused because his engagement was not returned as you cannot do so with a mask on.

John, I do often like some of your posts, but I really can’t believe your sincerity or honesty.

        • sophia July 24, 2020 at 4:24 pm #

I meant kid next door. He is an only child, highly outgoing.

        • Sredni Vashtar July 24, 2020 at 6:08 pm #

The new CDC guidelines for opening schools: masks for all children above two years of age. This is utter madness. Kids seldom get it and do very well if they do. Leftist teachers just want to bring down the system and thus say they “are afraid” to go back to work.

Think of the damage to the pysches of young children with all this. Two years of age? Keep them home as long as possible. Better yet, home school or get to a Christian private school in a red state.

          • abbybwood July 24, 2020 at 8:17 pm #

If I had school age kids and the teachers were too afraid to teach in person I would start a class-action lawsuit against the particular state/city/county and DEMAND that all my tax dollars be returned so I could be compensated for providing private or home-schooling for my kids.

SCREW these snowflake teachers and their unions!

Give the allotted money to me and I will decide how to best educate my children.

When all the teachers’ money/pensions run dry, screw ‘em. They had their chance to step up, instead they made a political decision to nail it to the poor kids/parents.

I hope I live long enough to see all these gutless “educators” suffering like they have seen so many children/parents suffer.

What a flock of gutless, political snowflakes!

Is there not any recourse for such open manipulation of a challenged person? And then too, since the Bidenites believe that covid is so dangerous then why bother having an election at all? The Bidenites should be mandated to sit idle in their homes wearing masks and watching 24/7 covid updates until a cure for death is found. Seriously.

If Biden wins, I believe that Republicans will initiate the 25th amendment process. That’s another reason why his choice for Vice President will be critically important (we already know this). I don’t know offhand what the procedure is.

      • SoftStarLight July 25, 2020 at 1:45 pm #

Maybe, but that is assuming they aren’t Rinos. Rinos are just a different kind of democrat and they are everywhere. Trump surrounds himself with these people instead of his nationalist and populist base. So I have trouble seeing that happen but who knows.

    • sophia July 24, 2020 at 3:53 pm #

There are so many things that various democrats need to be prosecuted for. Add to them the recent joining of the Portland mayor in riots and his refusal to disperse from federal property when directed to by DHS.
Five (or 4?) democrat mayors need to be looked at the manslaughter in regard to their forcing of covids into nursing homes.
Didn’t the mayor of NY temporarily ban use of hydroxychloroquine? There’s a guy at Harvard or Yale (forget his position but it was relevant) who said tens of thousands of lives could be saved with it. How does a governor have the right to tell doctors what drugs they can use? For that matter, how do all those officials have the right to tell medical personnel in hospitals whom they will treat and whom they will not? Triaging patients is a real medical skill.
There is a court case pending in my state to sue to governor for overstepping his bounds. He does not have the right to make up laws on the spot. Only the state senate can do that. Emergency powers were not intended to go on for – well who knows because they are not even meeting in session nor is there any date when they plan to. Which means that their duty to represent the people is in dereliction.

Which of the following describes Donald Trump’s presidency?

    1. It was part of his bucket list. He wanted to stroke his ego by being an outsider who could become president. Once he won, he realised it is much more daunting than what he initially thought.

    2. He is who he says he is. A patriotic American who really wants to return the USA to its glory and take on and try to put a major dent in the power of the deep state.

    3. He is part of the deep state and was put in by them to further their deep state’s twisted agenda. Trump is their actor and is being used to further their agenda and Trump is in on it.

    What is really going on?

He’s very confused and isolated. He wants to be surrounded by “winners”, forgetting that such winners are denizens of the Swamp.

He watches Tucker which may be keeping him in the game. Everyone else wants him to do things opposed to the platform he ran on.

Appointing warmonger John Bolton was insane. Shows the depth of his confusion. Probably Jared’s idea. An utter snake.

I saw a video on facebook that I believe the Chicago police made showing the antifa people behind the pvc pipe framed banner where they changed into all black and started handing out materials to hurl. Then they disassembled the pvc banner frame which had the pipe ends cut to a point. They also said that the water bottles being thrown were frozen ,which makes it a whole ‘nother degree of hurt.

Meanwhile, anyone catch the NYC chief who took a knee getting the snot beat out of him? I’m not one to laugh at someone else’s expense, but I made an exception with this dunderhead. How about getting your ass in gear and do what you were sworn to do,protect lives and property.

Outstanding, Jim! Nearly spit out my afternoon coffee In laughter when I read that. As a university instructor in the thick of wokesterdom myself, I can tell you that you are RIGHT on track in you analysis of a quickly-growing (perhaps majority) contingent of soon-to-be-adulting college students. As I said here in these comments last week, I’m long past being “worried” about how we’re going to recover from this mass-hysteria and communal mental retardation, and have just hunkered down in wonder at the whole thing, trying my prophetic hand and the when’s, where’s, and how’s of the clearly-coming reset.

“As a university instructor in the thick of wokesterdom myself, I can tell you that you are RIGHT on track in you analysis of a quickly-growing (perhaps majority) contingent of soon-to-be-adulting college students.” I retired from the NYC dept. of edumacation in October of 2018, and let me tell you, the decent into wokesterisim is balls to the wall in K-12 districts around the country. In my last full year in the classroom, (2017) I attended a full day staff development conference where the topic for the day was “equity” ( as if this had anything to do with my ability as a teacher) I’m quoting here from the material provided to us:
“Rather than pitying marginalized students, or attempting to “save” them from the perceived deficiencies of their families, teachers with political clarity are aware of the widespread existence of injustice. They recognize that injustice is typically reproduced in schools and they remain committed to an active struggle for equity in educational opportunity and outcomes”

The key term in this sentence is “Equity of outcome”. In a word, this is theft. In order to achieve equity of outcome you first need to steal the outcome from someone who already has it through hard work or pure talent, and give it to someone else. The part about “political clarity” is a little worrisome too. I wonder what happens to you if you’re politically opaque? Luckily, I was able to escape from that lunacy before I got a chance to find out.

      • Daddyotis July 24, 2020 at 6:03 pm #

Good for you, Jigplate. I’m about 7 years from retirement right now from University. Although I’m fairly sure I’ll make it til then without getting fired for not sufficiently following the Will of Landrew (Star Trek ref), I fear for my children and their futures toward needing the mark of the beast in order to simply have a job. It’s almost at that point right now in my employment.

Good to hear from the Time Servers. The non-heroes. I don’t condemn – they just show the Charlottesville White Nationalists in brighter contrast.

Not evil, just not good. Lukewarm. Those who shall be spewed out. To be fair, many of the “heroes” have proven turncoats under judicial pressure. Matt Heimbach in now an Antifa! And Richard Spencer, a Neo-Con.

  28. sharonsj July 24, 2020 at 3:22 pm #

Calling the protesters “antifa” may sound good but you miss the mark. You’ve got a mixture of old and young, different races and religions, but mostly a big number of pissed off people who are pissed off about a bunch of different problems.

Unemployment is probably 25-30% (the government statistics are rigged); we’ve got 30 million unemployed and the government doesn’t even count the 100 million who stopped looking. 50% of the population owns almost zero of the country’s wealth; 40% of Americans can’t come up with $400 for an emergency; 25-50% of small businesses will not survive the virus shutdown. One-third of renters and homeowners can’t pay their rent or mortgage. And before the pandemic, something like five million car loans were in arrears, so the evicted won’t even have cars to live in. And tens of millions have no health insurance–or crappy health insurance–during a damn pandemic. Hell, I’d be in the streets too.

We are in a depression and Congress has bailed out all the people who don’t need the money. And then you wonder why people are losing it?

    • sophia July 24, 2020 at 3:43 pm #

This is what TEOTWAWKI looks like so far. It does appear that Mr. Eliot got it right, it will end with a whimper. There may be some sporadic shootings and killing but most of it will occur inside the homes of people who have no funds, no skills, no resources. Doesn’t matter how much food you have stored, it will run out. The supply chain will break down even more. Thousands in the shale oil industry are jobless and it won’t come back. Hence, more dependence on OPEC production. There are so many disaster scenarios with this that it would be tough to pick and choose which one(s) will do the most damage. Whatever the outcomes, this is what collapse looks like. It would be more merciful for an asteroid to hit old planet earth and put it out of its misery but this looks more like a slow motion disaster. There won’t be any smart people to the rescue story endings. No, this is it. But hey, we got Netflix, Amazon, FB to carry us through.

Just got an email from my employer. They’re pinging us for opinions on teleworking permanently now, which for those of us smart enough to read the tea leaves means that they’re also likely considering outsourcing our jobs altogether to whatever low bidder comes along willing to work for even less, as we’ve already been warned that 2021 budgets will be dramatically curtailed, and that’s before the true economic damage of all this madness has even been assessed. I can easily see large salary cuts and/or RIFS on the near horizon now. Yes indeed, no need to ask for whom the bell tolls these days… In our case at least, it couldn’t happen to a more deserving little shithole, either.

To what extent, do you think, your ‘collapse’ scenario for the USA would affect the rest of the world? I mean, I know it would be significant but would it be ‘infectious’?

      • RB July 24, 2020 at 6:51 pm #

Thank you for assuming I might have a reasonable answer for your question. I wish Mr. K would chime in on it. Perhaps some others here that seem to have good minds. It is a big topic. I suppose I have more questions than answers myself. A few comments:

        1. The US military is not the power given credit for. Discipline has broken down. There is a slow transition of turning over the leadership to minorities for the sake of minorities. Recall the black power salute by some female West Point Cadets? Recall US Navy ships in the Pacific colliding with other vessels? Recall the breakdown of command discipline with the aircraft carrier at Guam? These are indicators of a deeper problem. Leadership is leftover from the Obama years. If dems take power, the military will become a full fledged social expermentation department. Further, retired generals have spoken very negative of the commander in chief. Unheard of. The department is politicized. I would not bet on our pentagon in a conflict with NK or China.

        2. The shale farce has broken down as Mr. K has warned for a long time. The entire petroleum industry is damaged. The US might well lose energy independence. Other nations will be caught in the same energy bind.

        3. The US dollar might yet lose its position as the reserve currency. If that occurs, I only know it isn’t a good thing. Others who understand economics can better explain.

        4. The US is the world’s consumer and the world’s economy is based on consumerism. That boat didn’t just sail, it sunk in the harbor. This might be the biggest effect of US collapse China may well fill the gaps abroad.

        5. No matter who is in power, the US Defense budget, hugely bloated and absurd, will be cut and cut and cut. Like it or not, the US will withdraw from the world. It will have to. That leaves a vacuum for other unfriendly states to fill. US influence will diminish in significant ways.

        6. Our education system is an international joke. Thus, much R and D will suffer over the next couple of decades and beyond. Meritocracy will die and excellent minds will not be able to go to the best universities because a minority has taken the space. The US will fall far behind China in R and D. Musk cannot fix it.

        7. Boeing won’t sell many aircraft. It makes its money from defense contracts. Those are going to be reduced. They built a civilian plane that crashes. They will lose market to foreign builders of airplanes especially China and perhaps Airbus.

        8. Our agriculture industry is in trouble due to weather conditions and Chinese markets closing. Democrats will enact stringent environmental laws and policies that will starve out the agriculture piece of the economy. Those same strains will affect foreign agriculture business. Lean years ahead.

These are just some off the wall thoughts. Observations and gut checks. Apologies for length. I am sure many others here have ideas. For sure we are in a changed world, changed nation and the “old times” are gone. It’s over. We are looking at Medicare for all. Means tested Social Security. Reduced pensions. Increased crime with less prosecutions. More societal breakdown.

“3. The US dollar might yet lose its position as the reserve currency. If that occurs, I only know it isn’t a good thing. Others who understand economics can better explain.

          RB,

…Not a good thing. I would suggest it is the WORST thing. We have whored up the dollar with impunity only because the rest of the world is required to use it for energy purchases and various financial accountings. The very day that the hegemony is broken, the rest of the world will no longer be to the dollar tethered…and our chickens will FLY home to roost. The dollar will float amongst the other currencies, and will reflect it’s actual value…which, to put it mildly, might make the Weimar Republic blush.

Domestic goods, whatever they may be, will not be immediately reflective of the inflation that will be evident in imported goods of all types. This inflation will occur almost overnight.

15-30% loss of value, or more, within a week.

        • SW July 24, 2020 at 8:15 pm #

#9 Our old friends Monsanto (who do their best work out of the public eye) will tighten their stranglehold hold on not just the US agricultural sector but India,Ukraine & Europe, and any hope of family farms returning will evaporate.

#10 viruses will become a constant menace with lockdowns being ordered & enforced with no data offered to the public. But it won’t much matter since there’s not much of anywhere to go—churches, synagogues, concerts, restaurants, parks closed. Or too expensive ( like Disneyland ) but all the riffraff (that would be us) cleaned out so social distancing for the rich would be much easier & the lines to Magic Mountain shorter.

        • abcdef July 26, 2020 at 5:24 pm #

          Hi RB,
“3. The US dollar might yet lose its position as the reserve currency. If that occurs, I only know it isn’t a good thing. Others who understand economics can better explain.”

The US uses its currency as a means of paying for transactions. It is also used by other nations also as a means of payment. In order for the rest of the world to hold US dollars that they can use either to pay for things OR to save the US MUST run a trade deficit–the value of what it imports has to be greater than the value of what it exports. The difference is made up by other countries willingness to accept US dollars for the goods they sell to us. Being a de facto reserve currency means that people hold US currency not only to pay for things but also because they think it is worth something hold or save; also as a unit of account. Being a reserve currency means we can get more stuff from other people and pay for it with pieces of paper with no inherent value other than that other people think it is valuable. If that stays changes, we have to pay for the value of the things we buy from the world with the value of things we sell. No more free lunch… So, US standards of living go down because we have to tighten our belts. How much? Estimates vary–but have a look at per capita estimates of US dollar holdings for different countries (and they don’t even look at China–https://www.federalreserve.gov/pubs/bulletin/1996/1096lead.pdf).

But it doesn’t stop there–being a reserve currency isn’t just about currency, which makes is a small piece of the money supply and financial instruments associated with that MS (such as bonds). America pays for things with cash, the foreigners exchange excess holdings of dollars for things like Treasury bonds, etc that foreigners accept as valuable (more paper with an interest rate promise to pay a return…). And that is really big bucks… > 6 trillion dollars and rising… SO, being a reserve currency is a cool thing to have. In the old days, it used to be called seignorage. And America gets something for nothing, every time a foreigner accepts US dollars when selling their goods to us …

      • BackRowHeckler July 25, 2020 at 10:37 am #

Majella, seems like a ‘collapse scenario’ — the US being brought to its knees — is something to would be down for. Am I wrong on that? After all, this is our home and our only home; you could always return to NZ if things go south here. And gloat on the flight over the pacific.

“I’d be demoralized, too, were I twenty years old.”
    .
And ten. And thirty. And forty. And fifty. And… on and on. Much of what keeps us humans going every day is hope. Hope for a good day. Hope for a better future. Hope for a better life for our kids. All of that hope has been erased by events of the last sixty years since the apex of Post War American Prosperity was reached. And what fills the gap one hope is gone? Despair. Anger. Frustration. We are finding out that those things are not building a future lifestyle we want to embrace. It’s even worse when it’s all forced on us. But since no one is coming to save us, we’d better search our own closets for our own Superman suit to put on and pronto.
    .
“…there is the age-old question of public order. Evidently, the Democratic-brand mayors and governors think they see a political advantage in chaos, the destruction of property, and bodily injury to citizens, including murder.”
    .
Richard J. Daley, the infamous former Boss of Chicago, once famously said, “The police are not here to create disorder, they’re here to preserve disorder.” Though he didn’t intend to, this famous Democrat gave a blueprint to today’s current group of Angry Dems in how to execute the duties of their offices.

Today there any many people and groups interested not only in preserving disorder but institutionalizing it. But if the Angry Dems get to sit in the Big Chair next year, how will they like all the disorder then? Or do they think they can just turn it off like a light switch? And, we all know how the room looks when you turn the light out.

O, Coronavirus: A Pathological Society Twirling Toward Communist Hell

    Andrew Anglin July 24, 2020

We are now far enough away from the initial hoax of the coronavirus that we should be able to look at it soberly. Most people apparently cannot, hence the fact that it is ongoing, and actually intensifying. But Daily Stormer readers are not most people.

The national lockdown began just over four months ago on March 15, 2020. We now live in a completely new reality, created not by a virus, but by the response to a virus, actions that were taken by the government and the media for aggressive and ambitious political purposes.

The first chant of the lockdown was “flatten the curve.” This meant that we needed to spread out the rate at which people became infected with the virus, because if everyone got infected at the same time, it would overwhelm the hospitals, and people would die unnecessarily because they couldn’t get treatment. When the lockdown began, there was no plan to prevent people from getting infected with the virus.

During this phase, we began with “social distancing,” despite the fact that this practice was not supported by any science. We would not begin the masks until weeks later, but the implementation of social distancing was a clear sign that the government and media were using methods of psychological conditioning on the public, with the goal of breaking people down. Social distancing is a way to alienate and dehumanize the people.

Within the first weeks of the lockdown, it was obvious that the hospitals would not be overwhelmed. It would have made logical sense at that point to open everything back up, if we were following their own stated reasoning. But they did not want to open everything back up, so they invented a new narrative: we have to keep people from ever getting infected at all.

With this new narrative, the chant of the lockdown became “not one life for the economy,” meaning that it was worth collapsing the entire economy and the basic social order if it would prevent one person from dying of coronavirus. They of course pretended as though collapsing the entire economy would not cause mass death. Then they admitted it would, but said it didn’t matter.

None of this ever made any basic sense. None of it was ever scientific. It was all contingent on the ability of the government and media to spread mass hysteria, and to get the people to agree to go along with things without thinking. What is truly incredible is that people are continuing to go along with it, even when we can sit back and look at how insane it all was. It is possible that the sunk cost fallacy is at work here in the mass mind. Or, perhaps, we’ve all just had an extreme psychosis induced, and we’re just going along for the ride.

At this point, we appear to be simply fumbling in the dark, lurching forward into the abyss, without even a clear idea of what the goal is. The government is funding mass testing, and even though the recorded deaths have gone down to virtually nothing, they are fraudulently using statistical data to claim that there is an increase in infections. In reality, there are simply more recorded infections because of the mass testing.

If we actually had an increase in infections and a decrease in deaths, as these charts indicate, it would mean the virus is now less than 1/10th as deadly as it was in April. But no one is saying that, because they are lying on purpose. In order to understand the above two graphs, you need this third graph.

The truth is that fewer deaths necessarily means there are fewer infections, and the fact that so many people are testing positive simply means that when more people were dying in April and May, huge numbers of people were infected and didn’t know it. They didn’t know it because if you are not elderly and are not chronically ill, the coronavirus is a very mild flu virus. It does not even make a healthy person sick.

The entire global death count of coronavirus, even if you believe the whole thing, motorcycle crashes and all, is really not much in the larger scheme of things. We’re at just over 600,000. Globally. Officially. Of course, this is overwhelmingly old people who were going to die soon anyway. The median average age of death, globally, is around 80.

This death toll is the same as the annual average of global flu deaths, according to the World Health Organization.

There is no evidence that these lockdowns stopped any deaths. When the lockdowns were lifted, deaths decreased. A recent South Korean study found that you’re more likely to get the virus if you are staying home. There is also the fact that closed quarters and a lack of sunlight and exercise make you more susceptible to disease generally.

Then you have the big old elephant in the room – Sweden. They did no lockdown at all, and they have a lower per capita death toll than the UK and most other European countries.

If we look back on the initial lockdown, even if you believe in the extreme hysteria, I think everyone can agree that it would have been safer to send people to work with masks than lock people in their homes but allow them to go to the grocery store without masks (which is what was happening during what were supposed to be peak weeks of the virus).

We also could have made a decision to only quarantine the vulnerable, given that someone under 60 who is not chronically ill has virtually no chance whatsoever of dying from the virus, and probably will not know if they’re infected with it.

Even if you said that without the lockdown, the death toll would have been 10-15% higher (no one can seriously claim anything higher than that), it continues to make no sense, given the number of people who are going to die as a result of the lockdown.

Our current death toll of 636,479 is significantly lower than that of both the 1957 outbreak of the Asian flu and the 1969 outbreak of the Hong Kong flu. The World Health Organization estimates that both of those viruses caused between 1 and 4 million deaths globally. Neither of those had a lockdown.

Of course there wasn’t a lockdown in the 50s or 60s. In that time, people were still sane, and any person could have told you that no matter how bad the flu was, it would never be as bad as collapsing the entire economy.

In the UK, the government is now saying that 200,000 people are going to die as a result of closing down hospitals for coronavirus – hospitals that remained empty, because there was never any curve to flatten. The UK’s Oxfam is predicting mass global starvation as a result of the lockdown. Many will also die of malnutrition and other health related problems from this economic collapse. Then you have all of the inevitable deaths of despair from suicide and drugs, as people are unable to work, they lose their homes, their wives leave them, etc.

In fact, the BBC began talking about how the majority of the “Covid-19 deaths” would be from the lockdown itself all the way back in May, apparently to butter people up for the big shocker. They did not suggest that it might just have been better to not do the lockdown. The assumption is that for some reason we had to do the lockdown. That has just become non-negotiable, though without any explanation.

At a bare minimum, the death toll as a result of the lockdown will be ten times the death toll of the flu.

If you were to try to calculate “years of life lost,” things would be very much worse. This would be if you do calculations based on the fact that when a 77-year-old dies, he loses 1 year of life (the average lifespan in the US is 78), and when a 20-year-old dies, he loses 57 years of life. Here, you would end up in a situation where the cost of the lockdown is thousands of times the cost of the flu.

Beyond the deaths, you have the massive human suffering. Just look around you at the people’s lives that have been destroyed already. The people who have lost their businesses. The marriages that are falling apart. American antidepressant use increased 21% between February and March, and we don’t have the numbers of how much it’s increased since then. This should be taken into account. This “we will destroy everything to save the life of one nursing home resident” ideology is utterly unhinged. Most old people would not want young people to throw themselves into a life of terrible pain and suffering so that they could live another six months at the nursing home.

Even as no one actually denies that more people will die from the lockdown than the virus, we are continuing with the lockdown anyway, and ramping up for another big shutdown. Some places are already entering a “second lockdown,” and Americans, and Westerners generally, seem to accept that this is just a fact of life.

People are extremely damaged by all of this. Most are barely holding it together. Some are not holding it together. More and more, we are going to begin to see people losing their grip. We understand now that this was the point. All of this has been a ritual process of breaking people down emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually, leaving them as shells. Locking people inside, forcing them to stand apart, making them wear masks, disallowing them from touching one another, keeping them in a constant state of fear and confusion, releasing the blacks to riot, berating whites as evil for the way they were born – it is a systematic crushing of human souls.

We do not know for certain where this is all going, but we do have an idea. It is now indisputable that the lockdown was a planned act, a hoax foisted upon the public to pave the way for drastic social changes. The first wave of these changes has rolled in on the back of the black lives matter movement. There will be more waves of change and if Joe Biden wins the election in November, the pace will accelerate rapidly.

Simply, we appear to be entering into a kind of communism, where a totalitarian government will force a tyrannical “social justice” regime on the population. The goal appears to be to exterminate white people and Christianity.

It’s really going to be hell.

SV: A fine review of the madness. Our ancestors wouldn’t have accepted this so placidly. Remember the fight against Prohibiition. And that was just for the right to get drunk. What’s been taken away from us is infinitely more precious.

      Hi SV,
Sweden as a success story and social distancing guidelines are unscientific? https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-53498133 Notice the fine print–they are WAY MORE DISCIPLINED about social distancing than we are in the US–because they actually believe that COVID is a real health risk. That is a major difference between Sweden and the US where large numbers of people, such as Mr. Anglin, says that social distancing, etc is BS. So, why think Sweden is the bomb when you then denigrate one of the key things they did to make it happen? Mr. Anglin and you want it both ways. You want no lockdowns but you don’t want to accept that your freedom can have a negative impact on others, and this needs to be curtailed to help us all out. Oh, its all HIT! Even the Swedes are not taking that at face value….

No more Yahoo comments it seems. Didn’t look for a couple of days and it all fell apart. Not on my watch indeed. Was my “not looking” the catalyst that lead to this catastrophic failure?

Oh, how we savaged the foe in the Comments. Oh how we played the game! Both the liar posters and the liar writers and the liar, Yahoo, itself came under our metaphorical guns. At last they fled the battle in defeat, making us even poorer. We should have been nicer? No. They should have lied less.

That’s not real Hierarchy, though, but rather, Holarchy. The wiki:

A holarchy is a connection between holons, where a holon is both a part and a whole. The term was coined in Arthur Koestler’s 1967 book The Ghost in the Machine. Holarchy is commonly referred to as a form of hierarchy; however, hierarchy, by its definition, has both an absolute top and bottom.

SV: A holon is an imaginary particle if you will. Thus a cell is a “thing” but made up of other things and in turn comprises other, more complex things.

A Hierarchy is metaphysical in nature. Meta meaning beyond – in this case physics (your obsession). I don’t know if that’s what the writer meant, but that’s my take; the absolute top being God and the bottom being the simplest building block or particle – or perhaps the Devil – or wills in opposition to His Will.

        • EnterpriseSpaceship July 25, 2020 at 12:35 am #

Holarchy inside holon inside a hierarchy inside a branch inside a system part of a parent system and the tree keeps requiring fossil fuels energy – seas and mountains of them every second….

In Iraq, people are living this summer almost with no grid electricity – an indication the massive oil production, pumping and exporting process in the country is running at unprecedented higher scales – leaving no power for the locals!

This power-shortage will engulf more and more people worldwide – over time, sparing the little remaining fossil fuels energy to run the:

Holarchy inside holon inside a hierarchy inside a branch inside a system part of a parent system and the tree keeps requiring fossil fuels energy – seas and mountains of them every second….

It is, at the end of the day, a competition for Excess Energy between the system and its commons – that is running since the day of Gilgamesh!

Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Hagia Sophia and now Portland in the US – are just a growing, on-going demonstration of it?

The protests in Portland were settling down until Trump sent in his anonymous band of thugs. It’s hilarious to me that JHK spent years warning of a “cornpone Hitler” rising to the presiidency from the right only to parrot much of the cornpone narrative now that it’s happened. Though I suspect that Trump isn’t cornpone enough for a large segment of the right and is only a preview of something much worse that they’ll unleash on the nation before the decade is out.

Today’s protests seem to augur the beginning of the end, or is it the end of the beginning?, of American democracy. Or they could be nothing more but the same status quo, going back in time, past the 1960’s, when Blacks and Antifa provocateurs were not the rioters, looters, and murderers, jealous of what other people had and worked hard to keep.

Optimistically, as in the past, the worst ideas are discarded and eventually the best are assimilated. We will have to wait and see. Meanwhile Antifa and the other bad apples are working hard to get Trump re-elected.

I’ve been reading Living in the Long Emergency, but this blog has me convinced it’s fiction. The real Long Emergency is the sedulous perfidy of the dissembling Left. There is no reason to work together on climate change and the end of oil (abiotic), water, sand, and so on. They are not crises. They are Left-wing hoaxes.

One reason why FDR was worried about a possible triumph of Fascism in Europe was that FDR didn’t think that the American worker (wage labor) could compete with Slave Labor employed by the Fascists. The Oligarchy did not like FDR. True Story….

The difference between Fascism and Communism is that Fascists enslave other people in the name of superiority whereas the Communists enslave their own people in the name of equality.

Fantasy and mania run rampant in the delusional republic, no more so than in the bastions of higher – cough – learning where derangement of emotion and disorder in logical processing mark the scholar and philosopher and self-proclaimed thought leader.

You can see it on the telly, in such shows as Amanpour’s gab-fest where self-congratulating participants laud themselves and the people that led the US and much of the world into this historical cul-de-sac where rules of nature and of such minor considerations as the march of history and its lessons are proclaimed to be suspended for no reason other than their inconvenience.

Realty’s logic is iron-clad but its means are devious. If disease plagues the thought processes of an increasingly unfit “thinking” class, with the concept of a “borderless world” as one of its manifestations, Reality has the solution. It’s called the coronavirus. You hear about natural selection? This is natural selection.

Most severely affected right now are the underclasses, those serving the physical needs of the intellectual, you know, people like farm workers, people in meat plants, but as economic and societal disruption spread, it becomes a matter of who has the means to provide for himself and his family ie guys with practical skills and not only that but means of self defense, ie fire-arms. And intellectuals have got a severe deficit in both these departments.

It’s a lesson of history, one of those buggery things that you see dotted throughout the written and archaeological record, elites are upended when they fail to get a clue.

    • BackRowHeckler July 25, 2020 at 10:30 am #

      V. I believe this ‘thinking class’ you refer to — the type of elitist, intellectual bullsh#tters who appear on Amanpour’s program — consider themselves above it all, and immune from any consequences of their initiatives to undermine the country. In a way they are correct in their smugness. Restrict access to firearms for American citizens? Many of them travel with private armed security, so who cares? Open the borders up to the 3rd world? If you live in a gated community, what does it matter? Build massive housing projects in small towns and suburbs and fill them with community members from urban area, spreading the squalor around? … a minor inconvenience when you can escape to your other estate in the Caribbean or the south of France or you can avoid the ruined local schools and send your kids away to private schools.

      And so on.

Watching the daily activity of Americans today is the best indication of the Democratic Stupidification of the public. Why aren’t these people at work? Why are they not too tired from working to stay up all night raising hell? What has converted their mentality to Gimme status?

In the early part of the Liberal, Gimme revolution, the 60’s, their first attempt at revolution flagged out due to insufficient manpower and a majority of voters that used rational thought and pride in America, post WW2 to overcome their Marxism.

They did not go away, they organized. They plotted an anti-American revolt that would take decades to put into place. Three aspects of their plan stand out. First is the constant chipping away at conservative government and judiciary by career Marxists. A long liberal swing enabled by RINO presidencies has made this aspect extremely successful. Reagan had a little success fighting this trend during his first term but tax changes in 1986 halted his resistance as he caved. Trump, at his turn, has not stood a chance. Best indicator is the reaction of the liberal judiciary to his executive actions compared to Obama.

The second aspect is illegal immigration. Immigration shifted to people moving into the US from the ME and Latin America instead of Europe and Asia. People earlier were escaping socialistic countries to expand themselves and their futures. Immigrants today are coming to get the goodies from the government that they expected where they came from. When their homelands imploded from the effects of socialism, they moved themselves and their Gimme attitudes here. Their numbers are increasing rapidly and their political clout is growing rapidly. Like California and the western coast, the entire US is about to flip, demographically to a Gimme State.

The third is the real shame of the American heritage. The Stupidification of the US is about complete. Selective liberal hiring on the campus has produced a university almost entirely Marxist in nature. Kids go to college today, not to be educated on possibilities, but to be indoctrinated into socialism and the controlling need for government. American exceptionality is repudiated in favor of political correctness. The beauty of the Founding Fathers inspirations is belittled and now ignored and now not even presented. Marxist dogma is everywhere, even into primary education. collectivism instead of individuality is taught at every level of the education process.

The effect of the three is almost in place today. Socialism, Collectivism, and Marxism are in lockstep in all the cities right now. The cities are the collection ponds for all three of the people traits described. Immigrants, Millennial Yuppies, and political Progressives congregate in the s**thole cites that exist today. The absurdities shown by the local governments are a good indicator of how far down the pike we have gone.

SV, like Lincoln’s day, nationalistic socialism may be the only way to stem the decades long conspiracy of the Left. Unfortunately, the Democratic success story may make this impossible now. Trump is starting, it is about time, to try to re-establish some rationality to US governance, but much to my chagrin, he is losing. Will authoritarianism be required to steady the ship of state, we will soon see. Otherwise, the Marxist revolution here wins. Wouldn’t that be the s**ts?

This fall Is the threshold. The election will depend on the success of the Marxist revolution on the country’s demographics. If the Democrats win, it will be the last chance for the conservative side of the US politically. Political control by the Deep State will erode what little is left of the Right. For true conservatives, individual thinkers, escape may be the only refuge. But to where? The USA is the last bastion.

    Any ideas?

Side bar. The virus has shown how far down the Marxist pike we have gone. The CDC has told all of us the ways to try to control the spread. It is up to the individual to make good decisions to protect themselves. Today that rational individualism is just about gone as people just do whatever feels good.

Homogeneity is strength. Diversity is weakness. But even a White America would have been undermined by the vicious International Bankers in time. Look what they’ve done to generations of young minds in their so called “universities”.

Why did we let them to do it? All the while funding these schools? Maybe because of college football? Careerism and getting everyone on the same wrong page to help the big boys make even more money to screw us even harder?

Hopeless dumbed down and distracted, now actually in favor of putting Blacks above their own people. America is over. What remains is something entirely different and inimical to us.

You believe the Lie of the Virus. You are doing your part to destroy Us.

“You believe the Lie of the Virus.”

        Sredni,
I accept the arguments that there is a virus, question the methods of control.

I found this case simply unacceptable, verging on unbearable. Maybe it was obvious goodness of the White woman and the overt evil of the Black mother and daughter race baiters.

          https://www.counter-currents.com/2020/07/white-underground-railroad/#more-120560

Her mistake was obvious: she got out of her car to look at any slight damage the Black might have done with her hand. And for that mistake she condemned herself and her husband to all the hell the system could dish out to those who stand against the holy ones.

I assume you saw the video. The threat was real since the two closed in on her. Black women have a record of punching or kicking pregnant White women in the belly. But why did she get out once she had attained the relative safety of the car? Her middle class sensibility betrayed her. I’m remind of that famous case in Watts where Black kids threw a brick thru a White Man’s back window. He got out to talk to them and was almost beaten to death.

See the comments. Retired officer Ambrose Kane admits that the police are no White man’s friend. Sad!

Sredni Vashtar — “The Blacks can be helped since we brought them here against their will. But that’s different then letting them help themselves to us. The Indians also earn some special provision. But that’s it.”

This is such an illogical and ludicrous viewpoint. I’m sick of this mentality and this totally unrealistic concept be thrust upon us. What a misguided idea to think that one has to take responsibility for something “their ancestors” did back in the path. The whole history of man is steeped in violence, inhumanity, domination and the like. It goes back as far as history.

I’m descended from Judeo-Christian, White European ancestors. I’m a white American. The white race is great, and has made a tremendous amount of positive accomplishments throughout this worlds crazy and chaotic history. Screw you all, I have ZERO responsibility for your lot in life. I don’t owe you anything. Take whatever you were given, stop whining and steeping yourself in victimhood, and go out and make something of yourself. Piss off!

    • Sredni Vashtar July 25, 2020 at 12:59 pm #

So what would you do with them? Jefferson and Lincoln wanted to send them back to Africa or even to Central America – away from the danger of mixture. It’s kind of late for any of that. My idea is to give them part of the United States – which is doomed to break up in any case.

Kim eschewed such high mindedness in favor of what is far more likely: which is war to the knife. I agree my pov is mostly a thought experiment since there is no political path to it as things stand.

Or we could have gone along with the fantasy of Wakanda and told them that Wakanda wanted all Blacks to go back. We could have used luxury liners, starting off with a party and ending up in great austerity by the time it was ready to offload in Angola or Madagascar with faux directions on what to do next. No one ever comes back so it’s a “How to Serve Man” situation.

      • amb July 25, 2020 at 11:32 pm #

They all should’ve been sent back to where they were taken from. Reunited with family members as possible. Given money, assistance, and aid to set up their lives in the villages or regions where they came from. The children that were born here in the USA would have to have gone back too. That was the big mistake. The early Americans brought other cultures and races to the USA and didn’t understand that they could NEVER assimilate. America should’ve stayed basically a White European based society. (Everybody needs to stay where they are and build their own cultures and societies. And then interact, trade, and exchange with each other for our mutual benefit, education and growth.)

Too late now. America died a long time ago. The best governmental and societal experiment ever created went down the toilet bowl. And, we’ve run out of new lands and continents in which to try again.

Fauci says to wear a mask until the vaccine stops the virus “dead in its tracks”.

Gates says that we’re gonna need a lot of injections! Just like any coronavirus, it’s going to be different all the time and never all that good. That contradicts Fauci faux confidence, does it not? No doubt Gates will add sterilizing agents as well.

Don’t think – just “mask up”. Be cool! Why show your ugly face to the world? You’re just a disease vector to other people. What are you so proud about? Hide yourself like Grendel in the swamps and forests of the Northwest. Become as strong as you are ugly. When you politely knock, the door will fly off its hinges. Don’t hurt anyone who is wearing a mask. Only the arrogant ones like Jaego or Vlad.

Bigfoot Lives Matter. Does the BLM (Bureau of Land Managment) employ any Bigfoot? Care to explain why not, fellers? Big class action case shape shifting up here.

There are dozens of vaccines in development. Why would anyone choose the Gates-backed one if he’s at the centre of their conspiracy world? The UK government is backing a number of them to hedge its bets and make sure it’s got an array of vaccines to offer.

Re the mask diatribe in para. 3, were you this melodramatic as a child? Perhaps your parents could have helped you deal with your demons better and you might have had a more serene life.

I walked to the Co-op this morning and took two masks (and a small plastic bag to drop used ones in, as I usually do), just in case I decided to stop at one of the corner shops as well on the way back. I don’t particularly like wearing the mask when I’m walking any distance between shops, so my very simple solution works, as it would for any rational and non-hysterical person. So everyone got to see my face – ugly or wonderful – all the way home, but not in the supermarket, where people had other things to worry about, like their own shopping. And since they’d set up a one-way system, more or less, you mostly saw people’s backs anyway, except at the till. Since the people at the till earn buttons, I don’t find wearing a mask to help minimise their exposure to inoculate to be a terrible affront to my sensibilities.

Why is America so hysterical? I’m genuinely confused.

Mrs Green, you’re smart enough to understand what I’m saying, and smart enough to understand what I’m saying is true. If you don’t have freedom, you have nothing. And this is exactly where all this is going.

          • SoftStarLight July 25, 2020 at 2:16 pm #

Because Alba. Breathing freely is really nice and actually very healthy. And really. What is your complaint? That people are being hysterical? Wow! So it’s Saturday. Of course you are. And yes I am hysterical. Why should anyone have the right to charge me with trespassing if I am not wearing a mask on their premises when they are opened to serve the public? Because the people mandating this are petty tyrants who don’t actually care about health and science. But at least you have that perfect little virtuous mask routine down. Where is your love for science now?

          • GreenAlba July 25, 2020 at 2:33 pm #

And out come the hysterics, predictably.

I’m told bakeries can sell cakes to whomever they wish, and not sell them to gay couples, if they wish, so I’m extrapolating here, as I explained to you before, that it seems reasonable to extend that privilege to shops who object to customers not wishing to extend the minutest of courtesies to their staff and other customers. Take your custom elsewhere – I’m sure you’ll find somewhere lax enough to suit your tastes. I mean, everyone’s on your side, really, right?

“But at least you have that perfect little virtuous mask routine down. ”

Goodness, you can be a silly little girl when you’re peeved. If I wanted to ‘virtue signal’ (the way you do about fr-e-e-d-o-m), I’d wear the mask all the time, rather than wear it as briefly and as discreetly as possible.

” Where is your love for science now?”

Where it always was. But I don’t love it, I just pay attention to it.

Indeed. That’s why we want to avoid as many people as possible catching a nasty virus that might affect their lung capacity for the rest of their life. I guess it would take nothing short of this happening to your parents for you to give a toss.

Actually, very bad example. The forcing of masks on people is clearly illegal in the US, and I think also illegal in Israel.

The gov can make it a guideline advisory, but they have no legal grounds to do what they’re doing. The fact that so-called “human rights” organizations are all silent about this is just another proof and indication that they’re all commie propaganda fronts posing as “human rights” organizations.

“The gov can make it a guideline advisory, but they have no legal grounds to do what they’re doing.”

They’re not forcing me to do it either, Mr Mofo. There are no police in the shops – they have more important things to do than enforce rules that adults should be able to sort out by themselves, and they’re already stretched following a decade of austerity cuts. Although they will intervene if 500 Covidiots are having a rave in an enclosed, airless space, I imagine.

I’ve been a secondary teacher in the past – if you’d spent any time in Scottish classrooms, you too would have come across the plaintive ‘ye cannae make me’. Bless their pointed little heads. And they’re right, ‘ye cannae make them’, in the final analysis. Eventually you just hope they’ll grow up and act like responsible adults.

I don’t know what it’s like in Scotland, but in Israel the gov mafia hands out fines of $500 shekels and more. It’s outrageous!

There’s NOTHING that occurred that even remotely justifies the idiotic behavior in reaction to this virus ailment. The COVID scare is a commie CIA hoax, and world governments are too stupid and corrupt to admit they’ve been taken.

            Mr Mofo

Theoretically there are fines here, but I never see any police, so what can I say? I expect they would intervene if a shopkeeper called them to say their staff were receiving abuse from some nitwit who’d rather have long-term blood clots than be obliging for a short time. I have actually stood in a pharmacy, early on in the pandemic, behind a customer recovering from Covid. He was really struggling – who knows how long his ‘recovery’ might take or if it will ever be complete? He looked about 35. Some people are unlikely to ever recover full lung capacity. Others have suffered from blood clots after ‘recovery’ and had to be repeatedly re-hospitalised. Yet others are suffering neurological problems.

But leaving that aside, I’m happy to leave you to your opinions and your outrage. They are what they are.

Someone posted the Newsweek article already (interesting that they flagged it under ‘Opinion’). I have already said that there has been claims of evidence for HCQ, but for some reason these aren’t backed up by separate randomised controlled trials, which are the gold standard. I can’t explain that any more than you can. But it’s interesting that the same doctor who investigated the Lancet HCQ fiasco has had his team do their own randomised trials and they have not come up with any evidence of clear benefit.

And the UK Recovery trial was the biggest of all and found no benefit either. I guess we will just have to watch this space.

I just watched an kissing interview with a zhlob who was a top political advisor to the former PM, the late Mr Rabin. What was so striking is how ignorant stupid contradictory and a complete idiot that zhlob is. How people like that can occupy such positions is a testament to the corruption of the whole system. The second you scratch the surface, the rot is so overwhelming, it’s just sickening. And the commie MSM does everything it can to hide this rot and manufacture an image of normalcy.

I know you’re still hurting, Tweets, but it’s not my job to help you. Speak to your wife about your Big N problem. And about *letting go*.

‘Hysterical’ applies to both sides in the US – I said ‘Americans’, not ‘Americans who agree with SSL, you and Janos’. But she can’t help herself jumping in emotively any more than you can, so I dealt with her side of the melodrama.

‘Hysterical’ applies to people wearing masks when there’s no-one there and freaking out that they’re going to die by walking past someone on the pavement as much as to narcissists who can’t stick a mask on to go into a shop for 20 minutes. This is a very American thing. Nowhere else, to my knowledge, are there full-blown culture wars raging about sticking on a feckin’ mask when one would be helpful.

See my post below to figure out how it could actually be over faster and less painfully without the tribalists’ input.

I’ll update you separately about HCQ – I know it’s a difficult issue for you.

          • GreenAlba July 26, 2020 at 11:16 am #

Re HCQ, it’s difficult to make an NCC (Narcissist from Central Casting) understand, because for such people it’s all about ‘sides’, but this isn’t about being right or wrong or being able to say ‘Rekt’ like a pimply 14-year-old. I tried to explain this to you before, but your personality is what it is – and needs to ‘WIN’ in front of an audience. I guess, from your previous incarnation, before you became blue-chip man, that the approval of audiences is important to you.

But revenons à nos moutons… It’s about following evidence. So far we have anecdotal evidence that says HCQ ‘works’ but, bizarrely, the drug just doesn’t seem to be able to stand up for itself in randomised clinical trials, of which there have been several large-scale ones and to which I have provided you with links. This is something an enthusiastic fan of HCQ needs to explain, before we all get carried away.

You will recall (obviously) that a Dr Adrian Hernandez was involved in establishing that the original statistics used in the Lancet study were acquired from a fraudulent company. In an excellent example of science doing its job, Dr H and others smelled a rat and delved into these statistics. Note that it wasn’t a randomised controlled trial, by definition. But Dr Hernandez’ own team was conducting an actual RCT on HCQ, for prophylactic and early treatment.

Being a scientist, unlike yourself, Dr Hernandez is aware that if you come to a conclusion regarding a very complicated version of 2+2=4, and someone discovers your methodology or premises are flawed, they haven’t disproved that 2+2=4, even if that’s what you so very much want. They’ve just shown that trials need to be done properly so that everyone can be convinced that 2+2 does in fact equal 4. I realise that this is difficult for you.

So, in the fullness of time, Dr Hernandez did indeed get results from his own RCT, and here are those results:

            https://www.acpjournals.org/doi/10.7326/M20-2496

            And their conclusion:

Now, you can hail that as an unequivocal endorsement of a miracle cure if your personality so dictates. I’ll wait for something more convincing, but if it comes, that will be great, because this – for the adults in the room – is about finding solutions, not about allowing a needy individual to keep repeating the word ‘rekt’ in his desperate attempts to get validation from his audience.

And what’s the best any vaccine has ever done against a corona virus? It’s no panacea – and equally, no reason to shut down society. Admit it: it was a goof or part of some kind of hideous agenda on the part of those who know better.

I vote b needless to say. I hope you can at least go with a as per your reasoning ability, assuming it is not in abeyance.

        • GreenAlba July 26, 2020 at 11:02 am #

I’d like to think that if such a thing happened again, we’d have learned enough to attempt to manage it without wholesale lockdowns. But I’m a fan of using whatever other mitigating strategies are at your disposal, short of lockdown, and that requires compromise. Some people clearly aren’t capable of that. It’s my way or the highway for the tribalists, which isn’t the way to solve problems.

Possibly much more timely lockdowns for a much shorter time (weeks rather than months) would have done more good – I don’t know.

This is progress indeed. Now you have to realize they knew then and did it anyway in order to bring down the nations.

Watch what they do when Covid 20 appears. Or some other disease entirely. In the end, you may get it.

Some say that the elderly were betrayed all over the world by sending the infected back into rest homes. Coincidence?

    • Nightowl July 25, 2020 at 3:45 pm #

Fauci says a lot of things. He is also on record (video) saying masks are useless and that they might catch “a drop” at best.

      #The Corona Con.

      • GreenAlba July 26, 2020 at 10:57 am #

If they catch a drop, that’s actually quite useful. What’s increasingly been found is that the amount of inoculate you inhale or ingest (the viral load) is important in how ill you become (if you can’t accept this, try asking the relatives of the health workers who have died). And if you are only mildly ill yourself, it seems you are less likely to pass on a high viral load to otherst. Ergo, if most people wear masks, the virus can work its way through populations to herd immunity levels while doing less harm.

The secret in these matters is to try not to be tribal.

But don’t take my word for it.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQNQxzvqeas&t=26s

It’s only four minutes. Obviously it will be hard for me to accept that his explanation is better than your ‘explanation’, but I’ll try to keep reminding myself that he’s not a blue-chip editor, but an actual doctor.

But stay tribal if your personality requires you to.

Incidentally, it seems the vast majority of Germans approve mandatory mask wearing. How sad for you to have left the US because you couldn’t take it any more, only to still find yourself surrounded by so many people so much stupider than you.

I guess that the Americans are moving towards war with China?

“ The closeness of the decision explained Roosevelt’s reluctance to level with the press and the public about his intentions, and it inspired him to additional efforts to ready Americans for the showdown he considered increasingly inevitable. On September 11 he held a Fireside Chat in which he explained that an American warship, the Greer, had been attacked by a German submarine off the coast of Greenland. “She was carrying American mail to Iceland,” Roosevelt explained. “She was flying the American flag. Her identity as an American ship was unmistakable.” This was true enough. The ship was indeed carrying mail, it was flying the flag, and its identity was unmistakable—at least to the crew of the British plane the Greer was helping hunt and depth-charge the German submarine in question. Roosevelt declined to mention this utterly unneutral, presumptively illegal collaboration, just as he declined to share the conclusion of an internal U.S. navy study that the German submarine commander quite possibly thought he was firing on a British ship. Roosevelt went on to describe the German attack as “piracy—piracy legally and morally.” “

Juicy video out of Harlem on NYPost website, a group of 8 Peaceful Community Members enter a Bodega and begin hammering the elderly shop owner and his daughter, I mean they were wailing on these poor people with fists, then when you thought it was over they began kicking them and beating them with beer bottles they pulled off the shelf. The store itself got looted and smashed up pretty good. What was surprising is that in this group of Peaceful Community Members were women, and they were just as aggressive as the men. You can find this video on the NYPost website; don’t bother looking for it on the PBS or CNN websites.

Here is yet another very interesting post by the UK doc, whose main interest has always been heart disease but he’s also a GP who sees nursing home patients and has been incensed at the mishandling of them. But this one is about the inflation of death numbers:

    • GreenAlba July 26, 2020 at 9:42 am #

I pointed this out to you already the other day, sophia – why wait for the sainted Dr Kendrick and pretend its new?

But here’s the thing – your man is talking about ENGLISH statistics, yet he applies them to the whole UK, despite him being Scottish, although practising in Cheshire – so is he stupid or just dishonest and agenda-driven? Which do you think?

I also informed you some time ago, before Public Health England started to get their act together, that the widely publicised death rates for the UK (included in the Worldometer, for example) only included, FOR ENGLAND, hospital deaths, and not deaths in care homes or the community (Scotland had its statistical act together much sooner and still does – I think NI is the same). And yet this overwhelming under-reporting didn’t bother you at all. Why is that?

It’s impossible to get totally ‘clean’ statistics in this matter, as I also explained to you already. So, in Scotland, where there’s a cut-off of 28 days following a Covid diagnosis, someone can die of Covid sequellae after 30 days and their death won’t go down as caused by Covid, even though it was clearly caused by Covid. Perhaps you have a solution to that? Nobody else seems to.

      • GreenAlba July 26, 2020 at 9:45 am #

Not 28 days following their diagnosis, I presume, but 28 days after their release from hospital or other supposed ‘recovery’.

No, nothing as glorious as all that.

A 72 y/o retiree who is basically a fiscal and social conservative but have some liberal leaning in some areas too. That is what you may think is vacillating but my medical and environmental feelings are contrary to the stoic conservative dogma at times.

Unknowns are what bother me most. And folks who are hide bound on political viewpoints regardless if they make sense. Like the virus, which is delving into unknown behaviors that we have not seen before. What would happen if we just let it go? No one knows. I imagine that in the 1400s there were folks who said just let it run its course before the Plague took out a third of Europe.

Your good points are not necessarily something I agree with, you are not going to change my mind, and vice versa. So why argue beyond presenting our respective cases?

I look to this blog as an exercise in collecting data and other viewpoints. I enjoy the interplay between the different extremes presented. I scratch my head at times but appreciate everyone’s opinions.

If I may just add an impression here, it is unpleasant to see what sophia does to you (and not just on this occasion), addressing the gallery and inviting them to consider you a troll because you won’t fall in with her templated, tribal thinking – if you think this you must also think that – or I will attempt to shut you up via character assassination.

Note how she forced you to submit to her by justifying your presence here, as if you had no right to your opinions when they defy the tribe.

She tried to blacklist me too, simply for refusing to fall in with what must be the dumbest trope in the AGW-denialist handbook.

You will see a similar dynamic in the exchange between Nightowl and canuckster10. Note that it’s not all that long since he was ‘a mysterious new poster from “abroad”‘ himself, among people who had been here for years, but already he acts regularly like some Big Brother gatekeeper.

So he, like sophia, addresses the gallery to cast suspicion, a priori on our new commenter, which elicits a display of polite submission to this nonentity, as if it were his blog. This is exactly what Big Brother wants. He acknowledges this display of submission by at least pretending to take canuckster’s word, but letting him know he’ll be keeping an eye on him.

The arrogance is breathtaking. Don’t let them force you to justify your presence or your insistence on open-minded, non-tribal thinking. It just makes them more arrogant.

        • sophia July 26, 2020 at 3:33 pm #

On the other hand, John, your reply was nice and not filled with all sorts of silly and bitter innuendo.

I feel no guilt whatsoever and questioning who the posters here are. We do not know each other and half the people who comment here seem like trolls to me.

I participate on a couple of other blogs in which I only rarely get that impression.

What you see here are highly polarized opinions from reasonably intelligent people well mostly.
Some of the posters have only one agenda and that is to disparage Trump and blame him for anything and everything.
The ones that assign blame that have zero logical reasoning re typically going to be paid trolls.

Last night, business districts in Eugene, Or, Portland, Oregon and Seattle smashed up and burned pretty good.

How thrilling it must be, cloaked in anonymity and the darkness of night, smashing windows, looting, setting buildings on fire, chanting slogans, launching fireworks at police.

Does anybody know what the beef is? What these riots are all about? It’s a mystery. For example, in Seattle yesterday a restaurant owner standing in front of his place was beaten up, and windows were broken in his restaurant. What’s the point?

And in Richmond, Va., a mob surrounds police HQ? Richmond? The historic statuary on Monument Ave. has been destroyed, leaving a weedy lot and graffiti covered piles of rubble. Apparently destroying monuments wasn’t enough, there are further demands.

Numbers not in yet from last nights fun in Chicago, where Black Lives Matter.

Yes it is – BUT – I can tell you from many personal experiences that court cases can be very draining for those being taken to court. You may not see it on a day-to-day basis, but it takes a lot of time and energy from the defendants even if they win the case in the end. It’s not just about the final decision, it’s about the emotional toll, so you can end up winning even though you lost the case.

You do realize that mask-wearing is a personal decision, right? I happen to agree with you that masks should be worn now. How effective they are doesn’t really matter, because if you’re elderly you are especially susceptible. It’s a matter of life and death, really. The virus affects organs and once you hit 65 or so, your organs are worn out to a certain degree. It almost makes no difference whether you survive a COVID-19 episode, you’ve already lost some years off your lifespan. Therefore, any advantage you can take against getting this virus, even if it reduces your chances by only a few percent, is worth it. That’s why I choose to wear a mask.

What I don’t like is people who don’t wear a mask castigating others who choose to wear one. That is small-minded of them because they don’t know that individual’s personal philosophy. A proper response ought to be “well, I don’t believe it is effective enough to wear a mask, but that’s your choice.” Not, “ you are a fool”. That’s intolerance and against the principles of liberty.

          • Sredni Vashtar July 26, 2020 at 2:40 pm #

How perverse. The Masked Ones are in the majority and in power. The Free are the persecuted, yet you turn it around – as if the Masked were the ones being put upon.

            Outrageous.

          • GreenAlba July 26, 2020 at 2:53 pm #

“You do realize that mask-wearing is a personal decision, right?”

Well, it is and it isn’t, beantownbill, depending on whether you choose to follow the rules in situations where they are mandatory. Of course it is always a personal decision whether or not to follow rules – same thing for criminals.

Nobody’s a ‘fool’ for either wearing one or not wearing one. That’s the language of culture wars, tribalism, virtue signalling (both sides) and demented polarisation.

But if someone says you are an idiot (or sheep) for wearing one because they ‘don’t work’, then it behoves their interlocutor to attempt to point out to them the actual nature of what they achieve, acknowledging the limits of that achievement. I’ve tried to do that multiple times, but there are a lot of tribalists and culture warriors on here.

The civil war is shaping up. The anarchists are trying to figure out how to hold a revolution. The cities today are a congested wasteland with no real reason to exist. They are like garbage cans for the Democratic plan to overwhelm the electorate with all forms of Socialist peoples. Promises to these constituents are starting to blow up as the Dems do not really care what happens to them, just keep voting Democrat. Look at the cities under fire, Democratic cities and states just plain ignoring the travails of the residents and encouraging, yes encouraging the activities of the anarchists. The local liberal governments using the Feds defending Federal assets as scapegoats are just the latest travesty.

The socialist people’s? Young disenfranchised folks and immigrants who have been sold down the river by Democratic BS. Now that it is obvious how huge of a lie the Dems have sold to these folks, they are reacting in the only way they feel anyone will listen.

I hope that the anarchists are shoved back into their trash cans by the people’s of the cities affected. My hopes are not high, however, as these folks are notoriously socialistic people drawn into the cities by promises of Democratic governments. Something about fool me once, fool me twice.

Anyone throwing support to the socialists are praying that Biden wins in the Fall and Trump gets beaten. If and when the happens, folks, you are going to find out how empty those promises are that you are going to hear over the next few months.

Try voting for someone that says that you have to make things happen for yourself, and not “trust us and we will take care of you”. When is America going to realize that these Socialistic charlatans are our worst enemies.

Hint: the socialists are proverbial liars because there are no solutions with government.

    • benr July 26, 2020 at 12:18 pm #

I strongly disagree with part of your last line.

“Hint: the socialists are proverbial liars because there are no solutions with government.”

The promise of government is to do MORE of the same and throw money at every problem only making it worse and more expensive.
Socialists are liars and out for power, money and control nothing more.

      • JohnAZ July 26, 2020 at 1:30 pm #

Huh?. I think we said the same thing?

They are liars because they try to convince us that government is the solution to problems. The government is the worst solution for any problem.

        • benr July 27, 2020 at 11:14 am #

I expanded on your comment as to why government is not a proper option.

    • SoftStarLight July 26, 2020 at 12:36 pm #

Yes and the “socialists” have lied to you John because these people are not anarchists. The riots are coordinated events. Do some random anarchists get invited? Of course! The more the merrier. But the coordination and organization are there for sure and always has been. And who exactly do you think is funding this stuff? Maybe people who want you to think they are simply socialists or simply progressives when in reality they are more like communist revolutionaries who want to overthrow western civilization. And, btw, capitalism did a lot to destroy America. And many capitalists are supporting BLM, Council on American-Islamic Relations, etc. Not to speak of the financial destruction of America through Wall Street they have supported.

      • JohnAZ July 26, 2020 at 1:42 pm #

Anarchists are not organized? Huh? Better tell Soros and his sidekicks who finance all this crap that is going on.

Dictatorial CEOs are socialists, not capitalists. That IS our economy’s problem. Capitalists love competition and encourage small and mid-size company growth. Not our current crop of corporate management. The senior corporate managements use the government and its tax laws to destroy competition. No wonder the high tech companies settle in California, Oregon and Washington State.

A good guy? Elon Musk has finally had enough of the socialist BS in San Francisco and is building his new plant in Austin, Texas.

And socialism vs. Capitalism? Which do you trust to produce a vibrant economy and a free market?

        • BackRowHeckler July 26, 2020 at 2:59 pm #

Well, Musk has seen this all before in his native SAfrica.

Indeed he has so has one of my SA friends.
He is so angry that he is having to live through another Communist take over.

        • SoftStarLight July 26, 2020 at 3:44 pm #

A part socialism and a part capitalism got us to where we are today. What is a free market anyway? There isn’t any such thing. Markets are always manipulated. But how we might thrive if we had leadership that believed our nation actually existed, and had an actual purpose, and a real destiny. Maybe thriving could be possible.

The funeral of John Lewis expresses the perfect irony of the state of American blacks does it not? I mean no disrespect, but dear Lord when are they putting this man in the ground? And yet, there is no mass wailing and weeping this morning for the black boys who killed each other last night in the streets. Weird culture.

He supported the idea of CHAZ/CHOP so one can imagine why he would want to see the White rioters as either sovereign citizen types or basically just White nationalists. He refuses to acknowledge that the rioters are essentially his ideological brethren or wants to intentionally steer people from that realization. Please show me where a conservative, White nationalist riot is occurring. Oh nevermind, those people actually do work. Wow! Even in pandemics!

      • JohnAZ July 26, 2020 at 2:02 pm #

This is an economic civil war, just as all civil wars have been. The US government under the control of both parties, ie The Deep State, has controlled, for the Elite, the economy of this country for way too long. The result now, with capitalistic means, is the monopolistic elimination of much of the competition in the US. That has squeezed out much of the up and coming labor growth in the US. The Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, especially the youth, all understand this and are now starting to react. The real problem for them is that they have been convinced to back the wrong horse for their future. The Dems, not the GOP, have been the supporters of the Elite. Look at Hollywood for justification of that statement. Or Wall Street.

Hint: They are anarchists, they fight any government. If the Marxists gain control, the first thing they will do is exterminate the anarchists. They will not stand for the competition.

And to all the kids, remember when you help throw out Trump that his economy was the best thing that has happened for your futures. Covid is a setback, but wait until the Dems tax you to death and destroy your futures.

        • JohnAZ July 26, 2020 at 2:13 pm #

This unrest will not stop until the economic unwinding of the job market is resolved. The Deep State has no clue what to do. They have just about thrown out the only guy who seemed to have ideas to promote jobs. The unrest will get much worse in the future as the affected parties get wind of what a phony bill of goods they have been sold by the Dems.

          • SoftStarLight July 26, 2020 at 3:30 pm #

The Dems are investing in the turmoil and encouraging the misery because it will help them in the election. Why the Republicans have not been capable of forming a clear and concise wall of opposition to the revolution speaks to either their complicity or their cowardice. Either option is bad. And please do remember how many old faces are out there mouthing full fledged support for the revolution when you are preaching to the kids. You are talking to many people who have been subjected to propaganda without the benefit of hearing someone with different ideas. And then you are also preaching to a certain set who don’t and likely will never believe in your right to free speech. This is a multi-dimensional problem, having both economic and spiritual aspects, among many others. The reduction to pure economic considerations will therefore limit our ability to respond.

          • Bobby Brown July 27, 2020 at 7:48 am #

What I’d like to know is, in this day and age what use is a city? It has little or no manufacturing, and no farming. Some people like the hustle and bustle and the variety of things to do, but we have the internet, Zoom and other social media for that (not quite the same as in person, but not that far off). Office workers no longer need to work in one central space,

Seems to me that the main purpose now of cities is as a dumping ground for those who, for whatever reason, cannot live anywhere else. Originally, cities were places to which rural residents could escape to for a wide variety of opportunities to conduct commerce. This is no longer true, so why have large cities?

Personally, I no longer care if places like Portland, Seattle, New York (I used to love NYC), etc. burn to the ground. Good riddance!

    • JohnAZ July 26, 2020 at 2:07 pm #

Did you see my analogy that cities are the dumping trash cans for the results of the Stupidification of the USA. Immigrants and useless Yuppies all flock to the cities. They have no choice any more. Corporate America is leaving the big cities for self protection. No jobs, more useless people is creating the oncoming civil war.

      • beantownbill. July 26, 2020 at 2:34 pm #

Yes, I read. But I don’t like the term “useless”. If you believe in God, why would he create useless people? I think a more accurate term is “people acting useless”. That allows for the possibility that someone someday makes something worthwhile of themselves.

This reminds me of how to bring up a child properly. When they do something not good, you are supposed to say “you did something bad”, not you are bad. Saying you are bad is a personal attack against a young person’s ego and sends a message that they are not worthy. See the difference? I never told my daughter she was bad, but I sure said you did something bad whenever she acted so. She’s grown up to be a highly functioning adult.

        • JohnAZ July 26, 2020 at 3:01 pm #

How about adding economically useless, the point being we are educating our youth to be a load on society and not an asset.

          • SoftStarLight July 26, 2020 at 3:18 pm #

Or perhaps more pointedly, and probably additionally, we are educating our youth to hate and tear down the society they have been born into.

Thing is Bill, without cities, where would you go to loot, burn stuff down, and fight the cops? … what fun would it be shouting “F##k Trump” in some small town? Say you marched around Eastham, Mass or Kent, Connecticut carrying an umbrella and sharpened PVC pipes, and the only people to witness your antics were a few little kids eating ice cream cones at DQ. It would be a waste of time.

Cities like Portland and Seattle serve above all as platforms for lunacy, that’s why we need them.

You can get an average of one or two reports – or even more – not very different from this every single day of the year at http://newnation.org/

This is serious. The amount of black-on-white murder in the USA is mind boggling. And it is always so pointless.

Every single day video out of NYC shows esteemed community members pounding elderly white people on the streets, mostly women, but some old men too. It’s usually done casually, a sharp punch to the side of the head sending the victim sprawling across sidewalks. I’ve read most of these people die pretty quickly after an assault.

A few weeks ago a 96 yo man who collected empties on the street of his neighborhood in Brooklyn got punched out by a young community member. This did make the news and he was interviewed, saying he’d lived in that same neighborhood his entire life. He also stated he was afraid to leave his apartment now.

Just eight states are showing level trends, no declining trends and the rest are showing moderate to steep increases over the last month. A few states look like exponential function.

With the Peace Accord with Jordan, all the water from Lake Kinneret that used to go to Israel now goes to Jordan. If I remember correctly, for drinking water Israel uses about 80% desalination, 10% from Lake Kinneret (Sea of Galilee), and 10% from underground aquifers. Of that water 90% is recycled for agriculture and urban gardens.

Because of drip irrigation techniques, Israel uses about 30%-40% of water that normally would be used and the harvest is about 40%-80% greater. Israel also uses special varieties of plants that can survive and thrive on brackish water. This water is usually pumped from underground aquifers.

Another increasingly very important source of water, which I almost forgot to mention, is the use of artificial reservoirs to catch rain waters. This is a huge project taken up by the JNF, and it allows the increase of population and agriculture through the use of water reservoirs throughout the land.

Posted on July 25, 2020‘My Nigerian Great-Grandfather Sold Slaves’
Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani, BBC, July 19, 2020

Amid the global debate about race relations, colonialism and slavery, some of the Europeans and Americans who made their fortunes in trading human beings have seen their legacies reassessed, their statues toppled and their names removed from public buildings.

Nigerian journalist and novelist Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani writes that one of her ancestors sold slaves, but argues that he should not be judged by today’s standards or values.

My great-grandfather, Nwaubani Ogogo Oriaku, was what I prefer to call a businessman, from the Igbo ethnic group of south-eastern Nigeria. He dealt in a number of goods, including tobacco and palm produce. He also sold human beings.

“He had agents who captured slaves from different places and brought them to him,” my father told me.

Nwaubani Ogogo’s slaves were sold through the ports of Calabar and Bonny in the south of what is today known as Nigeria.

People from ethnic groups along the coast, such as the Efik and Ijaw, usually acted as stevedores for the white merchants and as middlemen for Igbo traders like my great-grandfather.

They loaded and offloaded ships and supplied the foreigners with food and other provisions. They negotiated prices for slaves from the hinterlands, then collected royalties from both the sellers and buyers.

About 1.5 million Igbo slaves were shipped across the Atlantic Ocean between the 15th and 19th Centuries.

More than 1.5 million Africans were shipped to what was then called the New World – the Americas – through the Calabar port, in the Bight of Bonny, making it one of the largest points of exit during the transatlantic trade.

    The only life they knew

Nwaubani Ogogo lived in a time when the fittest survived and the bravest excelled. The concept of “all men are created equal” was completely alien to traditional religion and law in his society.

It would be unfair to judge a 19th Century man by 21st Century principles.

Assessing the people of Africa’s past by today’s standards would compel us to cast the majority of our heroes as villains, denying us the right to fully celebrate anyone who was not influenced by Western ideology.

Igbo slave traders like my great-grandfather did not suffer any crisis of social acceptance or legality. They did not need any religious or scientific justifications for their actions. They were simply living the life into which they were raised.

    That was all they knew.

    Slaves buried alive

The most popular story I’ve heard about my great-grandfather was how he successfully confronted officials of the British colonial government after they seized some of his slaves.

The slaves were being transported by middlemen, along with a consignment of tobacco and palm produce, from Nwaubani Ogogo’s hometown of Umuahia to the coast.

My great-grandfather apparently did not consider it fair that his slaves had been seized.

Buying and selling of human beings among the Igbo had been going on long before the Europeans arrived. People became slaves as punishment for crime, payment for debts, or prisoners of war.

The successful sale of adults was considered an exploit for which a man was hailed by praise singers, akin to exploits in wrestling, war, or in hunting animals like the lion.

Igbo slaves served as domestic servants and labourers. They were sometimes also sacrificed in religious ceremonies and buried alive with their masters to attend to them in the next world.

Slavery was so ingrained in the culture that a number of popular Igbo proverbs make reference to it:

Anyone who has no slave is his own slave
A slave who looks on while a fellow slave is tied up and thrown into the grave with his master should realise that the same thing could be done to him someday
It is when the son is being given advice that the slave learns
The arrival of European merchants offering guns, mirrors, gin, and other exotic goods in exchange for humans massively increased demand, leading people to kidnap others and sell them.

How slaves were traded in Africa

European buyers tended to remain on the coast
African sellers brought slaves from the interior on foot
Journeys could be as long as 485km (300 miles)
Two captives were typically chained together at the ankle
Columns of captives were tied together by ropes around their necks
10%-15% of captives died on the way
    Resisting abolition

The trade in African people continued until 1888, when Brazil became the last country in the Western hemisphere to abolish it.

When the British extended their rule to south-eastern Nigeria in the late 19th Century and early 20th Century, they began to enforce abolition through military action.

But by using force rather than persuasion, many local people such as my great-grandfather may not have understood that abolition was about the dignity of humankind and not a mere change in economic policy that affected demand and supply.

“We think this trade must go on,” one local king in Bonny infamously said in the 19th Century.

“That is the verdict of our oracle and our priests. They say that your country, however great, can never stop a trade ordained by God.”

As far as my great-grandfather was concerned, he had a bona fide trading licence from the Royal Niger Company, a British company that administered commerce in the region in the last quarter of the 19th Century.

So when his property was seized, an aggrieved Nwaubani Ogogo boldly went to see the colonial officers responsible and presented them with his licence. They released his goods, and his slaves.

“The white people apologised to him,” my father said.

Slave trade in the 20th Century

Acclaimed Igbo historian Adiele Afigbo described the slave trade in south-eastern Nigeria which lasted until the late 1940s and early 1950s as one of the best kept secrets of the British colonial administration.

While the international trade ended, the local trade continued.

“The government was aware of the fact that the coastal chiefs and the major coastal traders had continued to buy slaves from the interior,” wrote Afigbo in The Abolition of the Slave Trade in Southern Nigeria: 1885 to 1950.

He added that the British tolerated the ongoing trade on political and economic grounds.

They needed the slave-trading chiefs for effective local governance, and for the expansion and growth of legitimate trade.

Sometimes, they also turned a blind eye rather than jeopardise a useful alliance, as seems to have been the case when they returned Nwaubani Ogogo’s slaves.

That incident deified Nwaubani Ogogo among his people. Here was a man who successfully confronted the white powers from overseas. I have heard the story from relatives, and have read about it.

It was also the beginning of a relationship of mutual respect with the colonialists that led to Nwaubani Ogogo being appointed a paramount chief by the British administration.

He was the government’s representative to the people in his region, in a system known as indirect rule.

Records from the UK’s National Archives at Kew Gardens show how desperately the British struggled to end the internal trade in slaves for almost the entire duration of the colonial period.

They promoted legitimate trade, especially in palm produce. They introduced English currency to replace the cumbersome brass rods and cowries that merchants needed slaves to carry. They prosecuted offenders with prison sentences.

“By the 1930s, the colonial establishment had been worn down,” wrote Afigbo.

“As a result, they had come to place their hope for the extirpation of the trade on the corrosive effect over time of education and general civilisation.”

    Working with the British

As a paramount chief, Nwaubani Ogogo collected taxes on behalf of the British and earned a commission for himself in the process.

He presided over cases in native courts. He supplied labourers for the construction of rail lines. He also willingly donated land for missionaries to build churches and schools.

The house where I grew up and where my parents still live sits on a piece of land that has been in my family for over a century.

It was once the site of Nwaubani Ogogo’s guest house, where he hosted visiting British officials. They sent him envelopes containing snippets of their hair to let him know whenever they were due to arrive.

Nwaubani Ogogo died sometime in the early 20th Century. He left behind dozens of wives and children. No photographs exist of him but he was said to have been remarkably light-skinned.

In December 2017, a church in Okaiuga in Abia State of south-eastern Nigeria was celebrating its centenary and invited my family to receive a posthumous award on his behalf.

Their records showed that he had provided an armed escort for the first missionaries in the area.

My great-grandfather was renowned for his business prowess, outstanding boldness, strong leadership, vast influence, immense contributions to society, and advancement of Christianity.

The Igbo do not have a culture of erecting monuments to their heroes – otherwise one dedicated to him might have stood somewhere in the Umuahia region today.

“He was respected by everyone around,” my father said. “Even the white people respected him.”

SV: Slavery good when Blacks do it. What right did Whites have to take away the Black Man’s slaves? We cannot judge this man by 21st Century standards. Everything Blacks do is good. Everything Whites do is bad. Both Blacks and White Liberals believe this.

Aristotle said most people are slaves. Whites who think we have to live with Blacks for moral reasons are natural slaves. They believe what is told them on TV or by sicko Professors. No inner life or independent judgement whatsoever.

I wonder if the experts are going to acknowledge the other corona depression? While most people are so concerned about covid there is a quiet tsunami of drug overdoses and suicides washing across the country. There was a shortage of Zoloft in June and I have heard that the use of antidepressants is rising fast again. Keeping people miserable up to the election serves the anti-Trumps from the political perspective. It seems like the fake media will focus solely on case numbers and supposed surges in hospitalizations and the scariness and shape shifting nature of the virus up to the election. But it’s essentially a guarantee that they’ll ignore the mounting and preventable deaths caused by their moronic shutdown policies right now. No reason to alarm the public and threaten their mail in voting mass scam. And you just wait. They will defintely see to it that the election cannot be held with in person voting. That’s why its important to constantly talk about the deaths and mayhem caused by the shutdowns. Maybe the only way to turn the tide on their intentionally dismal narrative is to show how intentionally cruel they really are.

Your argument appears to be fashioned by a five year old with cognitive issues.
Tell me what city these riots have been allowed to happen under a Republican mayor and Governor.
Don’t hurt yourself straining those two brain cells if you lose one of them you might be rendered deaf and mute verses just dumb.

This crap has been allowed to happen and even moved forward by Democrat operatives in an effort to depose a sitting President this is not organic and can’t continue to many people are being hurt physically and financially.

Hence the if you want more of the same and possible escalation to your hometown or city vote for the DNC weekend at Berny’s candidate.

Seadolt and people like him just can’t seem to connect the dots that these Anarchists don’t care about you mouth breathing I’m on your side as several mayors have found out.
Wearing a hat and shirt that says I’m with you will still get a brick upside your head.

Get a clue and a rational argument seadolt you just continue to embarrass yourself.
