Speaking as a black woman… wait second! Can I do that? Well, why not. We’re now a nation consumed by make-believe, in which you can declare anything you want about yourself and insist that everyone else agree that it is so. If I identify this way, you must believe me! (Or else I will come after you with my cos-play mob and destroy you.)

The avatars out on the cutting edge of culture want to dissolve all the boundaries between all categories of everything — except us and them: their allies and their enemies. Everything else is slated to become — by force, if necessary — a big, turbid, zero-gravity soup of intersectional relativity. The reasons for this sanctioned insanity are not exactly what you think they are.

Case in point: The Sunday New York Times Magazine profile of one Jill Soloway, Hollywood producer / director and now memoirist of the book She Wants It: Desire, Power and Toppling the Patriarchy (“out this week,” note that little detail.) Mx. Soloway (Mx. being the newest engineered intersectional salutation) runs a movie production company named Topple, best known for putting out the TV show Transparent, about an older man who decides he’d be happier pretending to be a woman, and all the good family feeling that such a decision might engender, so to speak.

Gender was complicated for Mx. Soloway, for whom puberty arrived late, but with the sudden appearance of large breasts. “Do other people’s memories of their teenage years include things like soccer competitions or blue ribbons?” they write. “All I have is the memory of being suddenly overwhelmed by becoming sex to others.”

Aha, the curse of large breasts. What a life-annihilating affliction.

And yes, you read that right. Mx. Soloway now insists on being addressed as “they” (The Times obliges), invoking a linguistic hall-of-mirrors in which there are always two of you: the one located in space and the one in the mirror — shall we surmise? — or perhaps there is another explanation. One might goof on the narcissistic buffoonery of this stuff all the livelong day, but that would be tiresome and cruel, so I will just come to the point and tell you what is going on here, what it is all about.

It is about fashion, status, and prestige as has been the case in human social relations since earliest (hu)man put a banana leaf on its head, to the awe and wonder of others gathered ‘round. All three of those conditions depend on a person being special, a figure apart from the boring, moiling, deplorable mob of morons who agree to be hostage to their own biology. Biology is a disease to be overcome, and you can do that by asserting your will. For instance, in the case at hand of Mx. Soloway, you can get breast reduction surgery, cut off your hair, and wear baggy clothes. This does not make you a man, but it allows you to affect to renounce your “sexual assignment.” Anyway, who wants to be a man? (The enemy!)

Jill Soloway by Ryan Pfluger for The New York Times

Rather, you pretend to exist in a make-believe liminal realm in between, relieved of all the pain-in-the-ass tensions of being one or the other, and therefore, to some degree, the tensions of being a mature mammal. Is not the game of “pretend” the chief occupation of childhood, either a happy one or otherwise? And is not Hollywood all about the game of pretend? And so, in Hollywood, the most zealous pretenders acquire the highest prestige. The trick is to get other people to agree that your pretenses are bona fide (the Emperors New Clothes gambit). One way to accomplish that is to elaborate a fantasy that has already been set in motion as a fashion statement. With good old-fashioned American Puritanism coming back into fashion under the guise of Maoist authoritarianism emanating from the campuses, nothing carries higher status than anathemizing human sexuality, working every angle to abolish it, to banish it from the world, and to punish those who object.

There are a few little problems with this. One is, you’re still stuck with your actual biological sexuality, whether you like it or not. Every cell in the body is imprinted — except in rare instances of what used to be called “birth defects.” There’s no “returns” policy at the sexual assignment bureau. Accordingly, people who stop short of completely screwing up their bodies with genital amputation and radical hormone treatments are still subject to sexual promptings of the type associated with their cellular DNA. Mx. Soloway has demonstrated this in her own work, as The Times explains:

After the author [Mx S.] falls in love with a lesbian while still married, the two enthusiastically make a short comedy about female ejaculation. The Topple crew pitched in, building a giant vagina and helping with costumes. Mx. Soloway calls the film, inevitably, “If You Build It, She Will Come.”

One of The New York Times’s chief roles in our society has been to confer prestige on the people they chose to write about. The Times is a mighty churning engine of status-granting, locked in a feedback loop with the readership it is working to flatter so as to place them in the social hierarchy du jour. Unfortunately, what they have to work with du jour is cultural collapse, which is exactly what converts degeneracy into prestige. It’s an unappetizing process, and its products — supposedly “gender-fluid” adult mammals — have exactly such an unappetizing presentation. What is most fashionable these days is obviously unreal, and to become a fashion-victim of that can’t have a happy ending.

As our society grows less able to control circumstance, it grows more willing to engage in the trivial, simply because these are the only battles left which can seemingly be won. This is a sign, in every way, that we are now at the mercy of events.

Visit http://www.darkageprep.com for more discussion on this topic.

Neil Postman wrote eloquently about this.

I’m looking at my copy of ‘Amusing Ourselves to Death‘ right now, looking for the tie in.

          • Georges1202 October 15, 2018 at 11:26 am #

Postman wrote that book just as we were all breathing a collective sigh of relief that the 1984 Orwell predicted had not come to pass. However, Huxley really got it right in Brave New World – that a foaming miasma of nonsense and triviality would rot society from within.

          • K-Dog October 15, 2018 at 12:20 pm #

Postman says in the book that Huxley got it right.

Postman wrote about television, before the internet. The internet is better sort of, to some readers who use the greater depth it possess; but television invaded our news. News videos are everywhere and the inability to express nuance inherent in the video medium remains with us. Perhaps this is now more true in the general sense than when Postman wrote about it.

Video is a here and now experience which cannot express historical perspective. If you watch a video and have a historical perspective it is because you already had it before you watched the video.

Lack of history means everything goes and bullshit matters.

          • wet dog October 15, 2018 at 10:23 pm #

Aldous Huxley, on this exact point:

As political and economic freedom diminishes, sexual freedom tends compensatingly to increase. And the dictator (unless he needs cannon fodder and families with which to colonize empty or conquered territories) will do well to encourage that freedom. In conjunction with the freedom to daydream under the influence of dope and movies and the radio, it will help to reconcile his subjects to the servitude which is their fate.

          Amusing Ourselves to Death

          • K-Dog October 15, 2018 at 1:07 pm #

While putting ‘Amusing Ourselves to Death‘ back on the shelf I saw ‘Technopoly (the Surrender of Culture to Technology)’ by Postman next to it.

Written as a warning that we are becoming slaves to technology, his warning has turned out to be very accurate. Postman had 17 other books.

          • shotho October 15, 2018 at 2:22 pm #

Another good source for a discussion is Jacques Ellul, the French philosopher/historian/sociologist who wrote extensively on social breakdown as it relates to technology – the atomization of social relationships.

    • Ishabaka October 15, 2018 at 10:14 am #

Please explain how our society grows less able to control circumstances.

      • shotho October 15, 2018 at 10:31 am #

It seems fairly simple to explain. As more and more people become unable to handle the very basics of reality, society becomes less able to control that very same reality, society defined as the collection of individuals in a given space/time continuum. The groups and institutions that define a society lose the boundaries that enclose them and cannot maintain coherence.

I have a hunch it has to do with over-complexity of everything. Then you need a caste of techno-specialists to keep the Gizmo going. Wall Street is a good example. The use of specialized jargon and the mystique of complexity keeps out the unwashed.

      • SpeedyBB October 15, 2018 at 11:29 am #

I do not wish to hijack said thread (sensitive there, as I seem to frequently be accused of same) but what occurred to me reading this is the astonishing and inexplicable yearning for Stalin among a not inconsequential segment of the Russian public, according to reasonably reliable sources.

They yearn for the certainty of terror, from a 20th-Century Ivan the Terrible? Instead they get Putin, who is an amazing figure without even trying (as opposed to Prez ManBaby who tries and tries and the more he tries the more pizzlesprung his Presidency becomes); it looks to me as an equidistant observer of both ghostly superpowers (from Southeast Asia) that at least Putin knows what he is up to, and measures his moves as carefully as if he were playing chess, whereas Agent Orange and the entire Beltway gang look as miserable and aimless as the Three Stooges – though without the relief of slapstick humor.

Both managerial positions look most unenviable, though for different reasons. Obama, Dubya and Bill Clinton floated along as they understood that they were but Masters of Ceremonies, while the real masters were gutting the system. (They still have not figured out how to force an inventory of Fort Knox, Auric.)

Now the power-play seems to be entering an end-game, and rapidly going out of control.

‘Don’t let it get away from you’ is the mantra of the moment, but it looks to be too late to work the controls.

I’m near 80 years old and I don’t think I’m wrong about this. Kanye West and this boob who cut her boobs off are canaries in the coal mine, keeling over.

Focus on your own premises: the “our” and “society”. Our? Whose that? Society? Where? Whose?

Now once you’ve grasped the insubstantiality, further grok how having hundreds of stations catering to the various interest groups and ethnes helps to cement the non-society.

I actually think John Schlifske is right; there will be a recession officially called next year. That doesn’t mean that the warning signs aren’t already out there. Sears Holdings filed for bankruptcy, an event I foreshadowed on Saturday as part of my latest episode of the ongoing tale of the Retail Apocalypse. In addition, as our host detailed on Friday, the Dow fell more than 1200 points (actually close to 1400 points) on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by a dead cat bounce on Friday. Technically, that didn’t even qualify as a correction, but it is a sign that fear is overtaking greed as the passion governing the markets.

        • Georges1202 October 15, 2018 at 11:18 am #

Christmas is not Christmas without the Sears Wishbook. It simply is not.

          • BornToKillPeace October 15, 2018 at 12:43 pm #

Cultures throughout time and throughout the world believe(d) that traditionally evil spirits (djinn or jinn) would come down and back up the chimney as a means of frightening their “victims”.

The symbolism of Santa Claus is partially rooted in Siberian shamanism. Shamans of this area would take psycho-active mushrooms (the red and white capped ones we see in Christmas iconography), which the reindeer of their region would also eat, hence the flying reindeer. To tie this in, the shamans would also drink the urine of the reindeer who had ingested psycho-active mushrooms.

Christmas as we teach it to children – Be “good”, go with the societal flow, and you will receive presents, no matter how crazy the construct. Kind of sounds like the monetary motivations in adulthood.

          • Janos Skorenzy October 15, 2018 at 1:39 pm #

The “chimney” is the spinal column or rather its subtle aspect, the main highway of the subtle human person.

Santa Claus is a Germanic Myth. Believe it or not, we were once a People, or a set of Peoples who had a distinct culture, and who loved and believed in ourselves.

Siberian? What kind of mushrooms have you been taking. We had our own mushrooms too for that matter.

          • BornToKillPeace October 15, 2018 at 2:11 pm #

Ah, the kundalini you reference. Yes, there is that too.

Some grave sites of certain communities will install an iron pipe into cement upon a grave to serve the same purpose of moving the energies from the earth to the spirit world and vs versus.

I’m Germanic enough Janos. I believe in the unity of peoples, of nations, etc. Though I’ve never been to Germany, a German professor once asked if I was from there because of what he read as an accent in my speech.

I get this same sort of thing from the PC crowd of people I’ve known as well in the last few years. To try to be knowledgeable about cross referential cultural traits in different manifestations so as to get to the spirit of things – and been labeled a traitor to their cause in the same sense you try to label me now. In their terms I’ve been called a racist for trying to understand.

            Move on, Bonehead.

One of my favorite articles of childhood, age 2, is a newspaper clipping with photo of myself at an Oktoberfest (which I distinctly remember being taken), eating a bratwurst with the caption, “All American Boy?”

It has been at least two hundred years since my German line entered this country…and yet.

          • BornToKillPeace October 15, 2018 at 2:32 pm #

Janos, Do you need another reference for your racial purity test?

The grandfather, or rather Opa as they refer to him today (still living), of the woman I lost (opps, where did it go?) my virginity to was an actual Nazi in his boyhood. Following the war him and his wife to be left for the United States a few years after. It was a scandal in Oma’s family at the time because his side were devout Nazis and hers was not.

In the last decade I have shared many a bottle of homemade wine with Opa and Oma.

Funny enough, after 14 years of friendship with this woman she denounced our friendship two months ago for not going along with this PC nonsense.

Sears is (was) a grossly mismanaged company. They had a leg up with their catalog mail order expertise. It should have been an easy transition for them to use online sales. There is nothing left but for the financial buzzards to pick the carcass clean. They have already lost or sold most anything of value. The newest CEO has sold Craftsmen tools and I hear They will no longer sell Whirlpool appliances. All thats left is some prime real estate. If you can call dilapidated urban strip malls and shopping centers prime. I too grew up with that Wishbook and it is a sad state of affairs for the company and all the people it employed.

          • Janos Skorenzy October 15, 2018 at 3:20 pm #

If you know so much about ancient Germany, you should have known enough to know that they had their own shamanism. You’ve obviously never hung on the Tree with Odin. Thus now you must face the Claws of the Dark Santa. Dems the rules. Flee to Siberia all you want. You will not escape. You White just like Odin. Honor Him and you honor yourself at the same time. Dismiss him and you are throwing darts at your own face. And then don’t act surprise when the Dark Ones join in. They sense weakness very quickly as they follow the lower Laws of Nature assiduously.

          • BornToKillPeace October 15, 2018 at 4:30 pm #

Every region of the world in every point of time had/have medicine men and women. ‘Mention shamanism (which no one else here probably even cares to read about) on a message board centered around cultural and resource collapse and you go PC on me because I didn’t reference your first choice.

Janos, you are just a different version of the PC police.

          • BornToKillPeace October 15, 2018 at 5:11 pm #

1.order or allow to leave; send away.
            2.discharge from employment or office
3.treat as unworthy of serious consideration.

Where in the above did I dismiss Odin?

          • Janos Skorenzy October 15, 2018 at 6:16 pm #

Yes, both of I and the PCs are interested in race, therefore we are the same? That I’m for racial heritage for Whites and they are murderously against it makes no difference?

Your sin (to miss the mark) is not against me, but against Odin, your (and our) racial archetype. Take it up with Him. You didn’t dismiss Him, you just passed Him over. A dis and a miss by any standard.

I can’t believe you’re still talking about this. Sure evidence that you know you’re wrong! Surely you don’t expect me to stop first. If you do, you don’t know me very well. Did you see that great Scandinavian movie about Trolls? I guard the Bridge from below, Heimdal from above. But I suppose it’s alright to portray Him as Black, right?

          • BornToKillPeace October 15, 2018 at 10:19 pm #

Which particular film are you referring to?

Was that an off hand way of referencing Jimi Hendrix in Rainbow Bridge?

Look, it was an unfair comparison on my part to line you up alongside the PC’ers. I’ll concede this one. I’ve got to give you credit for tenacity though I can’t entirely absorb your premise at this time, but I get what you are going after there.

          • Janos Skorenzy October 16, 2018 at 12:02 am #

Bifrost – the Bridge to Asgard. Some movie made Heimdal, the Guardian of the Bridge, Black. Don’t know the Title.

Real Knowledge must be in the very blood and bones. Or one will act contrary to it without even realizing that one is doing so. Odinists who admit Non-Whites are crazy. There are all kinds of religions that are universal and not for a specific People. Let the Universalists be content with those – which are the vast majority at this point. Why can’t Whites have anything of their own? And are the Non-White joiners really interested – or just wanting to dilute White culture? Agents of Chaos in other words.

            I’ll let it rest there.

This whole gender shebang started when we first accepted “gay” as a normal form of sexuality. Once the anus is presumed to be a sexual organ, just like a vagina, things go downhill in a hurry.

IMHO, homosexuality is a grossly abnormal thing, and if it does occur in humans, just like autism or mental retardation, then we should probably treat it in much the same way. Tolerate it, but do not ever blur the lines between it and “normal.”

“Once the anus is presumed to be a sexual organ, just like a vagina, things go downhill in a hurry.”

Gawd, I thought we might be heading for a discussion on prolapses there for a minute – whew…

Hate to break it to ya, Squeeky, but the majority of acts of anal sex are practised by heterosexuals. Have you been under a stone? Not my thing, but it’s Very Very Popular. Guys, eh… you could give them a dough ring to have sex with as long as it was a different dough ring from yesterday 🙂 .

But I’m just wondering, if, by extension of your statement (which at least has the virtue of not including that weird stuff you were into about ‘bottom murderers’), does that mean no more blow jobs either?

      Women deserve to know…

      • Squeeky Fromm Girl Reporter October 15, 2018 at 10:52 am #

As far as I am concerned, you should have sex the old fashioned way, and leave your mouths and butts out of it. There is a reason why STDs are on the rise.

However, it is your body, and if you want to penises in your mouth, then I can not stop you.

        But, ewwww!

I need to get that blog back up and running again, but I have been sooo busy. I even have a youtube channel, with a wonderful poem!

            Plus, I do poetry!

Nah, you’re OK, Squeeks. I have a different definition of poetry.

The one about the Pope was kind of enough in terms of a taster regarding your style.

True, I mostly do Irish Poems, but I can do other stuff, too. Like this one! From 2015:

            Dies Iris???
A Brief Verse by Squeeky Fromm

When e’er the Rainbow Flag I see,
I think of poop, and HIV!
I think of SEX, and not of LOVE,
I think of lube and latex glove!

I think of Queens upon the drag,
And, subbies with a red ball gag!
And, bathroom “Glory Holes”, and then,
I throw up in my mouth again!

That is what it means to me,
When e’er the Rainbow flag I see!

Sooo, are like sonnets more your speed??? I wrote this one way back when, for the Obotski, who slavishly worshipped Obama. You will note that it follows the form to the T.

            I Am Thy Fool
            by Squeeky Fromm

How do I worship thy One-derfulness?
Shall I measure slobber by the barrel,
Or celebrate thy Blessed Birth in carol
Circulated free by the Main Stream Press?

Or shall I be discreet, and not confess
Nor speak of fascination so feral?
            Hiding away Love’s risque’ apparel
As if it were but some blue stain-ed dress.

            Yet, when every momentary stutter
Or pregnant pause is cause for happiness,
Must I draw the shades and close the shutter?

There, in Dark, lest thrill’d legs and lips a-drool
            Proclaim, in involuntary mutter
For all the world to know. . . I am thy Fool.

Normal well bred/read/red people like you love Gays – but simply can’t stand to hear the realities of what they do and the consequences thereof. Because such realities show their “love” to be merely sentimental and/or naked political artifice.

One must choose between Dies Iris and Dies Irae. Nay, there may well be a continuity if the former is read aright.

            Dies Irae

            That day of wrath,
            that dreadful day,
shall heaven and earth in ashes lay,
as David and the Sybil say.

What horror must invade the mind
when the approaching Judge shall find
and sift the deeds of all mankind!

            The mighty trumpet’s wondrous tone
shall rend each tomb’s sepulchral stone
and summon all before the Throne.

Now death and nature with surprise
            behold the trembling sinners rise
to meet the Judge’s searching eyes.

            Then shall with universal dread
the Book of Consciences be read
to judge the lives of all the dead.

For now before the Judge severe
            all hidden things must plain appear;
no crime can pass unpunished here.

O what shall I, so guilty plead?
and who for me will intercede?
when even Saints shall comfort need?

            O King of dreadful majesty!
            grace and mercy You grant free;
as Fount of Kindness, save me!

Recall, dear Jesus, for my sake
you did our suffering nature take
then do not now my soul forsake!

In weariness You sought for me,
            and suffering upon the tree!
let not in vain such labor be.

O Judge of justice, hear, I pray,
for pity take my sins away
            before the dreadful reckoning day.

            Your gracious face, O Lord, I seek;
            deep shame and grief are on my cheek;
in sighs and tears my sorrows speak.

You Who did Mary’s guilt unbind,
and mercy for the robber find,
have filled with hope my anxious mind.

How worthless are my prayers I know,
yet, Lord forbid that I should go
into the fires of endless woe.

            Divorced from the accursed band,
o make me with Your sheep to stand,
as child of grace, at Your right Hand.

When the doomed can no more flee
            from the fires of misery
            with the chosen call me.

Before You, humbled, Lord, I lie,
my heart like ashes, crushed and dry,
            assist me when I die.

Full of tears and full of dread
is that day that wakes the dead,
            calling all, with solemn blast
to be judged for all their past.

“Normal well bred/read/red people like you love Gays – but simply can’t stand to hear the realities of what they do and the consequences thereof. ”

Give me a break, snowflake. I work in medical publishing. I could tell you more about the microbial consequences of both gay and hetero sex than you’d care to hear before your dinner. With high-quality illustrations in CMYK at 350dpi, as stipulated.

I only love one gay – he’s related to me, as you know.

But you’re right that I don’t like hearing lurid stuff. I had to look up a word from the film ‘Calvary’ that I bet a lot of other people looked up too. Grossest thing I’ve ever heard or hope to hear in terms of what people get up to. Entirely heterosexual. Some people on here will know what I mean. (The priest – not Brendan Gleeson – had to look it up too. I’m guessing it was included in the film so that we’d all look it up. Or maybe I’m just especially innocent.)

I do have to interject here that I just read an article which says head and neck cancers are on the rise in nonsmoking men, and the reason is sex – oral sex. It’s the HPV virus, I think.

          • GreenAlba October 18, 2018 at 1:53 pm #

That is true, sophia. I believe the issue got some extra interest around the time Michael Douglas was ‘sharing’ on the matter.

However, HPV can get you even if you stick to missionary and is implicated in almost all cervical cancers, which can kill you as surely as one located elsewhere, if not picked up.

Thankfully, vaccination is now routinely available, in Western countries anyway, recommended between the ages of 9 and 13.

But, as with all STDs, it’s not primarily what people do that’s the problem, it’s how many people they do it with. If every human only ever had sex with one other human, we wouldn’t have a problem, no matter where they put what, but that isn’t the way humans behave. If everyone were as boring as me we’d need fewer GUM clinics – what can I say? 🙂

Air travel has, likewise, had an effect on patterns of (non-sexual) disease propagation, but people tend not to come over all moral about that. And the penchant of some of our species for living close to domesticated birds periodically does a great deal of harm to considerable numbers of those who don’t follow that lifestyle. But, again, moral judgement leaves the matter alone. There’s nothing quite like sexual mores to get the tongues wagging.

Bullshit Green Alba; male behavior, generally speaking, has devolved to what it is (menacing tatoos, deathhead t-shirts and general disheveled appearance {“tatooed savages”} as per JHK) because the decorum of “gentleman” was made irrelevant by womanhood general de-commissioning actual maleness; replacing it with an abstract alpha male — authoritarian government. Conveniently pushed aside for is the often awkward necessity of navigating the nuanced balancing act of interfacing directly the innate tension between the agenda difference between the two (only two) sexes.

        • GreenAlba October 15, 2018 at 12:10 pm #

          Hi Cavepainter.

Bullshit Green sounds like an interesting colour.

So, no blow jobs before the 70s? Or are you responding to something else I actually said?

The gents in my family all know how to dress appropriately. Not a tat among them, even the young’uns. One of my daughters has a tiny one you can’t see. I’m not sure if my sister in law (almost 60) hasn’t got some tiny butterfly or something on her ankle, but I may have dreamt that. And before I met my husband I went out with a ship’s captain (one of Her Maj’s Fishery Protection Vessels) who had a little seagull on the front of his shoulder. I don’t think any of his four children were particularly traumatised by it. He’s 70.

But I’m not a fan of those whole-arm thingies.

          Or Cheryl Cole’s bum.

Not a great fan of young lads with trousers hanging round their knees as if they’d had an ‘accident’ either. I do hope we’ve found some common ground, CP.

BTW I made the usual grumpy mum noises when I found out about adult daughter’s tiny tat. And she rolled her eyes, affectionately, as they do. Hey ho… She’s great though. Got her head screwed on in excellent fashion. Perspective…

Sometimes Miss Grundy needs to be kicked over, but not as long as she stays in her place. Warming the buns of young roughians has social value, but don’t you think you Brits overdid it? What if they come to like it? Or hate it so much that they hate the whole system? Read Tom Brown or Orwell’s “Such, such were the joys”.

But grammar is good, but again, only insofar as it serves life – and life means change. Notice I didn’t say Life. Some things don’t change. The small black dress never goes out, anymore than 1+1=11 by Rosicrucian addition.

And what, GA, is the actual job of Her Maj’s Fishery Protection Vessels? I suspect bullying and terrorizing innocent Icelandic fishermen is their mission.

          • GreenAlba October 15, 2018 at 5:17 pm #

Janos, the antics of the upper classes and what went (or goes) on in their schools is far from the lives of us plebs. Especially up here among the North Brits.

          • GreenAlba October 15, 2018 at 5:31 pm #

“I suspect bullying and terrorizing innocent Icelandic fishermen is their mission.”

I’m surprised you would admit to such complete prejudice, hm.

            Here’s the actual boat:

I was only on it twice. It’s long retired.

They spot-check fishing boats, mostly British ones probably, to check that they’re not breaking regulations in terms of catches, and follow up on any information passed on to them about suspected dodgy doings.

Occasionally they get to have some fun following suspected drug traffickers around the coast. I didn’t get to hear about that one until it was over, since it was all hush hush.

It’s mostly the Spanish that hoover up our fish these days. Where do you think all that tapas comes from?

          • hmuller October 15, 2018 at 6:40 pm #

GA, well I know years ago the Brits would harass the Icelandic fishermen without just cause, much less a judicial herring, just for the halibut.

Oh yes! I’ve been waiting so long to use my fish puns.

          • GreenAlba October 15, 2018 at 7:30 pm #

There was a bit more to it than that, but Iceland came off best and thousands of British fisherman lost their jobs. Such is life…

I like what I hear about the Icelanders though, one way and another. Must visit some time.

The transgender thing is complex. The pronoun thing does take getting used to; some folks will get upset if you use the wrong title; my own take is to use ‘they’, and just get on with things.

One of the more levelheaded folks on this stuff seems to be ContraPoints:

They’ve got an interesting YouTube channel as well, and worth looking at. You probably won’t agree with a lot of what they say, but they do seem to want to debate, rather than just turn up the volume. Is there anyone on the other side of this debate that seems to give a decent rebuttal, without the posturing?

Camille Paglia (no slouch, and not on the right wing, for sure) is another one who has commented on “transgender mania,”:

She also has mentioned the same things that JHK has said about some basic cellular biology:

She makes a good point – if folks are so gung-ho about science (for global warming), then they shouldn’t reject it when it comes to biology.

A lot of this may be moot in the Long Emergency, as surgery, hormones, resources will be limited. Biological technology does seem to be moving at a fast pace, however, and if it does become possible for people to alter their cells at a genetic level while the lights are still on, then we’ll have an even more interesting set of discussions.

Use they for a single person? So long English grammar! Alba should be fighting this tooth and nail since this new Priesthood intends to dislodge her Priesthood.

      • GreenAlba October 15, 2018 at 2:18 pm #

‘They’ is perfectly acceptable for a single person where you don’t want to define gender (I’m talking about uncontroversial situations, e.g. not wanting to give the answer away in a quiz) or where don’t know what it is (‘if a stranger asked you for a cigarette, would you offer them one?’).

It’s also fine where repeating he/she repeatedly would be inelegant.

When it comes to transgender pronouns, my own position is that I’m really not interested. I would most likely stick to ‘he’ or ‘she’, according to what the person looked like, and if my interlocutor didn’t like that *they* could talk to someone else. I would try not to be rude.

But since I’ve only spoken to one transgender person in my entire life, it’s not going to be a subject that preoccupies me.

        • GreenAlba October 15, 2018 at 2:19 pm #

          ‘repeating he/she repeatedly…’ oh dear, never mind…

        • Janos Skorenzy October 15, 2018 at 3:25 pm #

Ok, the fault or deficit is with the language then. No ambiguous singular pronoun. And no plural second person or vosotros.

          • GreenAlba October 15, 2018 at 5:41 pm #

‘They’ is an ambiguous singular subject pronoun, in that it doesn’t advise you of gender.. ‘Them’ is an ambiguous singular object pronoun. Both as well as functioning in the plural.

I would feel strange talking to someone about someone whose gender I knew using ‘they’, but that’s because I’ve never had to. Habits die hard.

          • Janos Skorenzy October 15, 2018 at 7:42 pm #

Everything I ever heard about they says it’s plural. But evidently habit has made it into an all purpose whatever among your set. Hiding one’s gender didn’t used to be a thing you see.

          • GreenAlba October 15, 2018 at 9:14 pm #

It’s nothing to do with hiding one’s gender. It’s because the default for a single pronoun used to be ‘he’ in more sexist times, since English doesn’t have a neutral pronoun like ‘on’ in French. And most normal people don’t go around saying ‘one’ except for comic effect.

But using ‘he’ as a default led to some very silly sentences. Language evolves. Get over it.

  6. Paulo October 15, 2018 at 10:32 am #

The whole narrative is pathetic. I think some people in a search for relevance, manufacture, dwell upon and drum beat any kind of perceived slight or invented misfortune; anything to set them apart while making them the same as every other trivial issue of our time.

Like people getting ‘meaningful’ tattoos. Me? I bought a new coat yesterday from Costco for $49.00. That’ll have to do, I guess. Oh, and my son got me a bunch of new ball caps from the Oil Sands. Is that important enough?

That gimlet-eyed observer of the post-modern world, Guy Debord, said it strikingly when discoursing in the watershed treatise “The Society of The Spectacle”.(1967)

    4. “The spectacle is not a collection of images, but a social relation among people, mediated by images.”

The photo of Solloway in the New York Times says volumes about how important this iconoclast really is and her status as a visionary.

Problem with that vision is precisely that it is warped by the fantasy world, as JHK well points out, that Solloway, and her/his/its ilk, and media, like Lil’ Debbie Snack Packs most favourite newspaper, and others like it, wish to perceive, describe and portray it.

What an ugly mind she if her image is any representative of it. Visionary? Of Hell.

  9. Petro October 15, 2018 at 10:41 am #

Two things that occur to me:

    1. JHK oversimplifies the matter of male/female. He needs to read some more recent research re. the biology of sexuality, which it turns out is more complicated than the old X and Y chromosomes and penis/vagina. There is, in fact, examples of mutability of sex in the animal kingdom, as well as sometimes ambiguity in sexual structures in animals, incl. humans. Sometimes animals like fish will actually change gender, due to environmental pressures (not a desire to escape imagined social straight jackets). So maybe there’s something bio-chemical going on that leads to this phenomenon?

    2. Why is JHK so obsessed with this topic? What does he care about people who seem mixed-up re. their identity? Is it threatening on some personal level? I couldn’t care less, because on a societal level, I am WAY more concerned with wackos who believe in Adam & Eve instead of evolution and natural selection, that “trade wars are easy to win”, that Trump is fit for office and had the biggest inaugural crowds in history, that humans have nothing to do with changes in climate, that cheap fossil fuels will last forever—I could go on and on. You have been talking about the loss of a common culture for a long time. Without the common culture, who needs the USA? That is why the anarchists want to destroy our common culture. Problem is, destroy the culture holding us together, what is going to take its place? Kumbaya, according to Janet, or chaos?

That it is transparently dishonest is absolutely clear. That it engenders more dishonesty and increased comfort with confusion is an obvious result.

They are also bullies. Not all of them of course, just the ones we hear about.

I don’t like being considered offensive unless I lie. If I call someone with a penis “she” I am lying because I consider such a thing absurd.

The definition of the word ‘he’ is ‘one with a penis.’ The definition of ‘she’ is ‘one with a womb.’
        It’s the whole point.

These non issues have become BIG causes. Why?

      • K-Dog October 15, 2018 at 12:29 pm #

Because we live in a tower of babble manufactured by our corporations to maintain the all important bottom line of their ‘corporate people‘ who actually do not exist. Which goes to show that deception is really as American as Apple Pie. We already have AI and we don’t even need computers.

    • K-Dog October 15, 2018 at 11:38 am #

      Petro, your:

      1) Is rambling bullshit. It is a self-serving comment that says there is as much complexity as you want there to be. But one mans complexity is only another’s simplicity. Your statement being entirely subjective actually does not say anything because it is only subjective.

      2) Not every-bodies elevator goes to the top floor so easy as yours does if you really feel that way. Many people have a lot of trouble figuring out how to get through life when messages on how to live are clear and unambiguous. Make those messages unclear and confusing and a tower of babble results in which most people will flounder in misery.

A confused nation cannot determine relevant priorities and is doomed to collapse. Confusion breeds wackos.

      • peakfuture October 15, 2018 at 12:01 pm #

If there’s valid science behind it, then dismissing it might not be prudent. Petro’s point on the biology of sexuality should be looked at, if we are to be honest about things.

A while back, there were some things on overcrowding and rats that came across my path:

This stuff might not be entirely subjective, but have some honest science behind it. The unfortunate thing is that some may cherry pick the science, to support a particular worldview.

        • K-Dog October 15, 2018 at 12:48 pm #

Actually peak I’m sticking to my guns. Petro is using the same tricks global warming deniers use to confuse the issue by denying facts and hiding behind ‘complexity’. We don ‘t have all the answers yet, so consult science is the advice they give. That you do it forever never getting an answer is their plan because science already has the answers, they just want you to keep looking so you don’t see the answers that are already there.

I looked at the rat-problem article. I was listening to a podcast on ‘ego-depletion‘ last week myself. ‘ego-depletion‘ is a real measurable phenomena which describes self-control or willpower as drawing from a finite reservoir of resources which like the charge on a battery depletes with use. We need to be recharged.

Excessive social interaction might cause sub-optimal behaviors‘ is stated in your article and a human tie in results from the phenomena of ego depletion.

Relating excessive social interaction with the mental exercise needed to keep a pantheon of sexual identities straight (who am I today) is not a stretch.

Ego depletion refers to the idea that draws upon a limited pool of mental resources that can be used up. When the energy for mental activity is low, self-control is typically impaired

Seriously Petro, oversimplifying the matter of male/female? I did not realize that this issue was so complicated, but then I have never looked to the mating complexities of tree frogs and spider monkeys to aid in my understanding of what exactly it is that inhabits my underwear.

As far as being obsessed by the topic, I think it would be far more accurate to pin that problem on the American mass media and those that control them and are looking to manipulate us. If you are looking for excellent insight into this matter you should check out Kunstlercast 308 with Jasun Horsley which is an excellent and insightful discussion on the subject. I think it is fairly obvious that this “look at me I am special, I am the center of my own universe” gig, originally promoted by Barney the Purple Dinosaur, lies at the heart of this “confusion”. Nothing garners the attention of the bleeding heart SJW’s faster than a poor misunderstood “victim” and when all you have to do is cry out in the night to get this spotlight, it is a wonder that there are not hundreds of millions of these “confused” souls vying for our “understanding”.

Our pathetic, deranged society is so hung up on living it the tiny unrealities that it creates on its Facebook pages, that Jim’s description of it being Lost in Space could only be made better, IMHO, if it was called “Lost in the Cyberspace of Their Own Tiny Minds”. If you pretend it will be true, wow what a concept.

Seriously Petro, oversimplifying the matter of male/female? I did not realize that this issue was so complicated.

        • Walter B October 15, 2018 at 1:07 pm #

Yes Dog, for there is far more potential to sell complexity for profit than there is in simplicity isn’t there? And infinite profit as well thanks to student loans.

          • Petro October 15, 2018 at 4:43 pm #

The masses love simplicity; just look at the MAGA rallies. The powerful feed simple, black-and-white ideas (and complaints, and “solutions”) to anxious, bewildered people and thereby make them malleable and willing to do—in some cases— ridiculous things. Keep things simple, and it’s much easier to manipulate people.

And Walter, while your pithy statement about frogs and what’s down in your underwear is amusing, I hope you don’t seriously believe that nothing can be learned about humans by studying other living things. If you truly do believe that, you are tragically mistaken about how we fit into the natural world.

          • Walter B October 15, 2018 at 9:44 pm #

How exactly to we “fit into” it Petro? Have you been to the Amazon lately or the Bakken oil fields? I would say rather than fit into nature, fuck it up would better describe our role.

          • Petro October 16, 2018 at 9:03 am #

Walter, you’re misunderstanding me. I completely agree that humans are doing terrible (probably fatal) things to the world from which we sprang, and in which we rely on to survive. Too many think, through arrogance, that humans are not part of the animal kingdom, or can operate outside the laws of nature due to our special (god-granted?) status. It is this mindset that has in large part led to our irresponsible treatment of the planet. All I was responding to was in terms of evolution and biology, and our part of that process. The surgeon who operates on you began learning by dissecting fish, frogs, and fetal pigs.

Regarding complexity v. simplicity: I was drawing a distinction between systems like banking and technology (where complexity often ends up biting us all in the ass, I agree), and simplistic pablum fed to people to get them to hate and fear others, and get them animated to carry out the wishes (often against their own personal interests) of those in power who are trying to manipulate them.

          • Walter B October 16, 2018 at 9:14 pm #

Thank you Petro, your explanation did the trick. So often we try to convey ideas in these places, and are not able to because we all wish to avoid the proverbial wall of text. In the old days we had a saying, See It Big And Keep It Simple, SIBAKIS and I do believe it had much value. The complexity that today’s world has added to the lives of the individuals has hampered, not helped the crowd to get by at least IMHO.

Humanness is a constant conflict between individual ego and group ego. It is said we all want to be part of something bigger than ourselves. We are joiners, whether the bigger is religion, the military, America, i.e. Nationalism, country clubs, there are many many choices.

We are in a new world where individual ego is overwhelming group ego. Group anything is not fashionable, especially in the institutions that set the trends, like Hollywood. Not only sexual identity, but Tats, Piercings weird clothing, anything to set us off from the crowd. Maybe it is a reaction to just too many people, but it started in the seventies with the Me generation with its theme song, “I’ll do it my way”. So, fellow Boomers, do not blame this on X or the millenials, we started it.

It is no wonder under this influence that the United States are splintering and the Liberals are representing the individual egos. Anything to break down our country’s identity.

Yes John, the Boomers, the original self-centered, underworked Me Generation pioneered this disease. Yes I am a tail ender myself, though I was fortunate to be programmed to cling to the old ways of understanding that if we work only for ourselves rather than work towards the greater good of the unit, in the end we will always fight alone against all others and surely fail. Those who follow us have intensified the Me First mentality to the point where once we are gone, the society of individuals that will be left cannot do anything but fail totally. As they all fight to be the most important person in the universe against one another the chaos that will ensue will assure that it will all come crashing down around them. That is what the Lord of Chaos would want, though, is it not?

          • BornToKillPeace October 15, 2018 at 9:57 pm #

All the time Walter, all the time…

The last couple of months I’ve been diving rather heavily into the literature around the Djinn/ Jinn / fallen angels and much has been clicking in observation to my own personal experiences and observations.

You might find me crazy for saying this, and I would respect you for thinking so; David Icke’s commentary on what he terms the Saturn Matrix is eye opening regarding symbolism of the modern day and going back in history.

There are many videos and presentations online. Nobody in your personal life need know if perhaps you happen to take a few hours throughout the coming weeks or months….

Christ is who I call on, but I like to have an idea of “who lives in the neighbor”. It occurs me that looking into these matters is spiritually dangerous enough. I do my best to not call on anything or anyone that might try to get attached.

I’m sure more than a few have noticed the ironic dichotomy in this individualistic behaviour. Whether biker, hipster, or tattooed barista the same group identity and conformance takes over.

I get a laugh out of Hell’s Angels types – that’s right, I’m talking to you biker dude. They are all about being an individual from the larger society so long as one wears the appropriate leathers and vest, rides the appropriate Harley, and parties in the sanctioned behaviours. Ya, real lone wolf individual there.

There’s a deliberate reason for this deliberate corruption and weaponization of culture by the Vatican/CIA mafia and its propaganda outlets. The reason is simple. It is to negate the Enlightenment and the Freedom that flowed from it. The method used by Vatican Jesuits is to make that Enlightenment and the Freedom that flowed from it cosmically absurd and even deadly. People need to know and understand this, know and understand their history, and know and understand the players that shaped it.

With the total subsumption by the Vatican/CIA mafia of practically all information outlets, including publishing houses, universities, school curriculum, all media outlets, people have been purposely made ignorant of their past and current environment. In a very real sense, they have become like ignorant and unthinking fish swimming in an ocean of Vatican/CIA propaganda, which is intended to guide them back to the tyranny and slavery of ROME.

A simple way to short-circuit these Vatican/CIA fsckers, is to deprive them of their propaganda and power structures by simply tuning them off. Don’t attend their schools and universities. Don’t subscribe to their media outlets. Avoid buying anything from the fascist corporation. Don’t shop for food at supermarkets, buy organic from small local producers. Don’t vote for any of the established politicians. Always vote to reduce taxes. Always vote to reduce and eliminate the government mafia, its agencies and institutions.

No, you will find the truth. Unlike the lies that are found in your Vatican nazi propaganda outlets.

Truth, like the simple fact that Jews could not fight or defend themselves, because they were not allowed to carry any weapons, let alone maintain an army — not in dar-al-Islam and not in dar-al-Rome. Nor could Jews legally defend themselves against any predation. They were always second class, always discriminated against, always deprived of common legal rights under the law of the land.

For all intent and purpose, the Vatican was already in existence the day the Roman Emperor Vespasian Flavius created Christianity for the his sons Titus Flavius and Domitian Flavius (Father, Son & Holy Ghost) after the family destroyed Judea and Jerusalem.

As for Islam, after receiving propaganda financing training and weapons from the Vatican’s most powerful order, the Augustine order, Islam’s first act was that of a Jewish genocide in Arabia. So no, it wasn’t a measly inquisition, it was a full on genocide.

PS: Yes, Oragenitalism is a REAL book.

Gershon wrote several others, including editing a few books of Irish Poems. And Threesomes. And Ozark folklore! Which, those two books which were started by Vance Randolph belong in everybody’s library. They were Blow The Candle Out, and Roll Me In Your Arms.

Legman’s autobiographies have/are slowly being released by his estate. I only have/read the first volume, but plan to pick them up as time permits.

Vance Randolph is the man. I can’t believe someone wrote a comment a comment about Blow the Candle Out and Roll Me In Your Arms.

Another book of Legman’s I’d like to check out is, “The Fake Revolt”.

“The Fake Revolt (1967) is an essay by Gershon Legman in which he decried the sexual revolution. It was prefaced by two quotes on the nature of psychopathy, one from Robert Lindner’s in Rebel Without A Cause: The Hypnoanalysis of a Criminal Psychopath, and one from “The White Negro” by Norman Mailer.”

Btw, pick up Randolph’s, “Ozark Magic and Folklore” if you haven’t gotten around to it and it is something you want to dive deeper into.

In the 1930s and 40s, Minister Harry Middleton Hyatt of Illinois wrote a series of volumes entitled Hoodoo-Conjuration-Witchcraft-Rootwork. He made the mistake of focusing entirely on black communities and completely ignored the Scots-Irish and indigenious for some reason. Randolph’s book is a good supplement. (I prefer Randolph by far).

Analysis has shown that some of these works by Hyatt were frankly made up by his informants, probably to mess with the guy. Nonetheless, worth a peek into.

Well, thanks for *that* anyhoo. I’ll keep this short, as we explore The Theater of Cruelty that this comment section has become:
I think your further exposition explains the strangeness of the celebrity culture as well as biological imperatives, but I’m sure you [will] realize what a nice steaming hunk of bloody red meat you’ve thrown out there. Oh yes, “tiresome and cruel” will be the mildest descriptor of many of the comments to follow.

These traits are especially evident in Hitler-humpers and twitchy authoritarians.

The #MeToo movement folks are “living the dream”. Gender dysphoria, a mental illness, shows how far from reality a person can get, when he/she doesn’t even know what gender he/she is. That’s major confusion, and it makes the afflicted ones incapable of making sense out of anything in life.

The hostility that these folks exhihibit when someone tries to reason with them, leads me to believe that they know they’re trying to fool themselves, and the world, with their fantasies, so they use anger in an attempt to control those who try to help them in their illness. Or maybe they really do believe their fantasies, that the imaginary is real, and then they perceive persuation as a personal attack.

A psychiatrist I know has said that insanity is not knowing how the world works. One of the most basic truths of the world is that male and female humans make babies for the furtherance of the human race.

Why are so many involved with the gender identity movement? Is it so they don’t have to deal with the fact of US bases in the middle east that train terrorists to murder civilians, for the US? Is it a way to avoid our national identity, that of a nation that murders and steals entire nations, starting with the USA (the “Indians” actually, were Americans). Being focused on one’s fantasies leaves no time to think about the role of the US in the world – which has been taught to us that it’s the policeman’s role, but actually is the thug’s role, or more precisely, the terrorist.

Pursuing wild sexual fantasies short-circuits that conversation.

    • volodya October 15, 2018 at 12:36 pm #

Yeah, I subscribe to the same idea, that this gender stuff and a lot of other stuff besides, is just distraction. Your point is a good one, while you’re distracted with this or that fantasy you’re not dealing with the world as it is.

One way of looking at the identity of the US is exactly as you said, a country that spreads mayhem through wide areas of the world in furtherance of a fantastical scheme to make the world safe for American business interests. That other people – non-Americans especially – may have other ideas as to how to live life or structure international relations and institutions doesn’t seem to matter to the fantasists.

There’s another facet to the identity of the US, that of successor state to the British Empire, one that speaks English, that mostly observes common law, whose governing institutions were modeled on the those of the British ie a house of commons, a house of lords but, in the US case, an elected king.

      • elysianfield October 15, 2018 at 8:54 pm #

Yeah, I subscribe to the same idea, that this gender stuff and a lot of other stuff besides, is just distraction

I do not necessarily see “distraction” as a cause for whatever outrage is current. I do not believe in manufactured distraction…I do believe, however in human frailty, human stupidity, human insanity, human perversity…basically, that and the rest of humanity’s failures.

What I do believe is that the Internet allows and provides a voice to those who should shut the fuck up (if in possession of a grain of common sense). Consider that these “distractions” had to be sought out buy those with a “need to know” back before the internet…the National Enquirer comes to mind.

The divisiveness, perverseness, and relative stupidity we see every day is Internet based. The Internet is a relatively new and untried social driver, and no one knows of what it will provide…today it provides “distraction”…eventually “destruction” of our society would be my guess.

        • volodya October 16, 2018 at 11:46 am #

Elysian, you bring up some excellent points, especially the role of the internet in turning what would otherwise be localized outbreaks of insanity into nation-wide or continent-wide or world-wide conflagrations. To pick a ludicrous example, guys like Michael Avenatti would have been on the National Enquirer’s front page forty years ago and there he would have stayed. But we’ve redefined what’s news that’s fit to hear and read and the internet was instrumental in that.

I guess what someone would consider “insane” nowadays depends in part on ideology, or IOW, what political ethnicity they belong to. Railing against the economic demolition of fly-over America is taken in “progressive” circles as code for racist wall-building by fascists and extremists or, in the best case, blind lunacy in opposing all that is great and good. The “progressive” preoccupation with gender identity and gender fluidity strikes a lot of people in other political tribes as an illness requiring mandatory confinement.

Maybe it was blind luck in coming up with tranny washrooms as a burning issue but it did serve to divert national attention from dire problems affecting tens of millions. But for my money this was a distraction whether it was dreamt up ie “manufactured”, as you put it, by a cabal of cynical pols or just the Goddess Fortune working her mysterious ways. There’s more important problems that need to be dealt with that affect far more people.

The central argument of these people is that the United States is illegitimate, so you are very well onto something here.

What seems to be lost on them is what will occur in a breakdown, or that cultures and nations are fundamentally a struggle against other cultures and nations.

Their hope for the breakdown of all barriers, most importantly their nation, is nothing more than a Rape Fantasy.

Good post until you ruined it. A Nation is a People, not a geographical locale. The Indians were many tribes or nations. Whites created the Nation called the United States of America. We are thus the Native Americas. They were just living here. We conquered them and took this Land for our Race, People, and God, Yah Yashua.

Our mercy was great: not only did we not wipe them out, we told them of Him. Would they have done the same? The Incas found a White People living in the Andes, killed all the Men and took the beautiful Women to Wife. The Inca Nobles were almost as White as the Conquistadores who proceeded to do much the same – to the eternal detriment of South America.

    This relates somehow.

At the high end coffeehouse across the street from Starbucks I stopped for a morning roll before work a few weeks ago. At a table a gay man in his 50’s, one of the portly accountant looking gay types with a super short trimmed beard, was sitting with a young lover in his early 20’s. Lots of lesbos don the look of the older man but this was a guy. Only thing missing was the bow tie. That the younger man was the older man’s chicken was obvious. The chicken was dressed up as some green colored half-man half ram-character with foot long horns. He skooted in front of me when I went to get my coffee at the pick up counter.

I had a very strong desire to punch the twink in the face as hard as I could. It was the horns I think which triggers some kind of deep disgust. A patriarchal birth defect blended with authentic self-defense no doubt. I resisted.

He skooted into my space and almost got it in the face.

    • capt spaulding October 15, 2018 at 12:02 pm #

K-Dog, the horns were obviously there to serve as handlebars. From either direction, I assume.

Such people are walking agendas looking for a problem. I guess I’m not a fan of cosplay. People need to be themselves, pretending to be other animals could lead to terrible things here and there.

It is an abrogation of the responsibility to be human and to responsible for one’s actions and to be decent to other people. It is an abrogation of the need to be present in the real world. It has no place in the common culture.

This is much ado about nothing in the same way a raindrop is responsible for a flood perhaps, but without raindrops there is no flooding. He literally butt into line with a look at me flourish. Like a fucking goat would. As I am a Capricorn myself I’ll say a goat would have been more aware of other people and more respectful.

If he had any self respect, he probably wouldn’t be a fag to begin with. To be fair, some fags realize how terrible the whole thing is, and how Nature has played them a terrible trick. Quentin Crisp is the Patron Saint of this Camp, one very much out of favor and now deeply despised by those who wish to be the Center of All Things.

    • K-Dog October 15, 2018 at 12:02 pm #

Only upper-class trannies can get hormones surgery and all the fixins. The ability to deceive is related to ones socio-economic status. This puts trannies in our zeitgeist way ahead of straight up gays because as Jim said it is about fashion, status, and prestige because a rich tranny is a better tranny. Perhaps we should think harder about trannydom rebelling against our existing social order. It actually is goosestepping to the social order in lockstep. They are not outrageous, rather they are boring and narcissistic.

What I have written refers to ‘popular’ trannydom. There is a rare authentic type of transexual. I have known both kinds. Caroline Cossey is an example of an authentic transexual.

PC police are advocating the use of Trans-Woman. Resist it for it is not as descriptive and we should resist the efforts of language police. In particular when the improvements are a dummy down. This is true of most hyphenations.

      • K-Dog October 15, 2018 at 2:20 pm #

I can see why some women would like to be mistaken for men — men have all the power! But let’s look at the other side — why would any man want to be a woman? Woman get raped, women get pregnant, women are considered crazy and liars (ask Dr. Ford), and women are generally smaller and less strong than men. Who’d voluntarily want to be a women? Guess I could ask Bruce Jenner a/k/a Katlyn Jenner, who frankly mystifies me.

Of the five stages of grief, the last one is acceptance.

  25. Luhrenloup October 15, 2018 at 12:11 pm #

In the past 3 years we have been made aware of transgendered people. This undoubtedly miniscule group is now the symbol of gender fluidity. They demand their bathrooms; their gender dysphoria is being taught in schools as something common to our species. Trump became aware that some transgendered individuals were joining the military to have it pay for their costly sex change operations and moved to bar them from joining up. In an inexplicable response the military, who one would think would be in favor of not being saddled with inappropriate candidates, opposed the president’s edict.

The system seeks only and always to maintain itself and to expand. It’s an organizational system that optimizes productivity. We, as performing units of production in this system must work at peak efficiency to maintain it, to expand it. Otherwise, we are expendable. Sex as a commodity robs the individual of its special magic, its power, its life enhancing effects, and feeds it to the system.

In Capitalism, as well as most other systems of economy, heck, most every human societal system (after the population is in no danger of collapse) and sex becomes recreational above all, then “sex” is certainly a commodity.

Y’all may have heard that “sex sells”?

At this point in my life, for the most part, I am not confused one bit about my sex or gender and identify as a buysexual.

If I want sex, I have to buy it.

      • volodya October 15, 2018 at 1:48 pm #

no matter what, you pay for it.

    • Luhrenloup October 15, 2018 at 2:03 pm #

The gays are a perfect group to illustrate this thesis. At some time in the past people who were attracted to their own kind did not consider themselves “gay”, “lesbian”. They accepted themselves as different then most. They even saw it as a blessing, somehow they were special. No way did they want to be trapped in a married life with the ball and chain, or worse join the military. Many great writers, dancers, musicians, philosophers eschewed the heterosexual box and all that it entails. Think of Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, Colette, Gore Vidal. They were free. Certainly not looking outside themselves for some entity to grant them “rights.”
I think many who call themselves gay nowadays are merely rebelling and playing into the hands of the system. And the ones who don’t, adopt kids and join the Log Cabin Republican group.

The system encourages this, preferring a docile, dependent nation.

      • GreenAlba October 15, 2018 at 2:33 pm #

“They even saw it as a blessing, somehow they were special. ”

Or they just kept under the radar to avoid being jailed or killed.

“Think of Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, Colette, Gore Vidal. They were free.”

Oscar Wilde, really? Not sure I’d call two years’ hard labour free, but whatever.

And Alan Turing didn’t get much thanks from his country for the millions of lives he potentially saved. Hounded till he topped himself. I think he realised he was ‘different’ from most, and not just because he was a genius.

        • Luhrenloup October 15, 2018 at 2:55 pm #

And that, Green Alba is the price some have paid for being free, for not wanting to see themselves and what they have to give as a bartered commodity, not wanting “to pay for it.”

Not for the faint of heart. There is no right or wrong here, just reality as we live it.

          • GreenAlba October 15, 2018 at 7:42 pm #

I’m not entirely sure what you’re trying to say, Luhrenloup (which I blame on my denseness, rather than your communication of it).

Shakespeare was married, with three children.

Oscar Wilde was married too, of course, despite his ‘other interests’ – I don’t think the evidence is all that copious re Shakespeare’s extra-curricular activities.

I don’t know what your point is at all with regard to Alan Turing. He simply came a cropper because of the anti-homosexuality laws of the day.

            Green Alba:
The NY Times sees itself as the great anointer of our society. If the NYT says it’s cool, then it surely must be and if not already, it will be after they write about it. They published Ronan Farrow’s article on Weinstein, a man who had been harassing women for years. His seductions were a running joke in the business. Why did the NYT suddenly decide to expose him? And why give this “for the moment” woman, “they” meaning she, and her nutty ideas which will be a postscript in a few years because she has nothing to say to the majority of people? It’s about power; NYT is changing the zeitgeist, activating the #metoo movement, is calling the shots, or so they hope. If you are going along with the NYT stories, or the US government story of how life should be lived, or is being lived, and we all are to some extent, if it’s ok to shit in the same room as a trans, you are giving them your power.
It doesn’t matter how or with who you do it, as long as it’s your choice, your proclivity. People who step out of the story, who set their own agenda risk censure. Actually, the four people that I named had relations with both sexes. They were not “gay.”
Two years of hard labor is a small price to pay to be your own man in our increasingly controlled world. Oscar Wilde was a great, great man.

          • GreenAlba October 15, 2018 at 9:26 pm #

I think it was ‘No way did they want to be trapped in a married life with the ball and chain,’ that threw me since both Shakespeare and Wilde were thus trapped.

I presume Wilde was bisexual and possibly Will S too. Alan Turing was gay. And persecuted, despite his exemplary service. Exemplary is a ridiculously inadequate word for the debt he was owed – and not just by his own countrymen.

But I’m sure I’m still being dim!

The response of the military, more than anything else, tells me our culture is doomed.

You also see commenters on this site who apparently live in an indeterminate quantum realm of mind where their cat is both dead and alive, where notions of yes and no and truth and fiction blur together in a contradictory superpositioned blob, who write with points to make but then insist they’re making no such point, no, rather the fault is with the luckless reader whose comprehension skills just aren’t up to snuff.

The subatomic kingdom may abide the antics of the menagerie of waves and particles that underpins our macro-reality but in this macro-world, that is, the world of the unaided human eye and ear and other senses, reality takes on a definite shape. That spherical basketball in front of you has only ONE place in space at any given time, it has got simultaneously determinable position and velocity, its angular momentum is a straight-forward calculation, and when you rotate said basketball in one direction or another, it takes one turn for it to look like the ball you first set eyes on, not two turns or some-such, an idea that only makes sense to a scientist that has got training in higher mathematics. Though, truth be told, the quantum realm doesn’t make sense even to the most brilliant of them. It’s like Niels Bohr said, CALCULATE, just do the calculation, whether it makes sense or not.

But the everyday world we live in is straight forward and relentless and it doesn’t tolerate the frolicking of people that disrespect its dictates. You need to eat, you need to sleep, you need to drink. If you don’t drink you die in a few days, if you don’t eat you die in a few weeks. In this everyday world, in fact, in this universe, every object hurtles through time and space at the combined speed of the speed of light whether we like it or not, and given that we move through space at maybe a few hundred miles per second, we are moving through time at pretty much the speed of light. And that would be about 186,000 miles per second. Which is one hell of a clip.

The point is that literally, time flies, or alternatively, we fly through time, and if time can be defined as the distance between events, that distance is covered pretty damn quick. There isn’t “time” for nonsense, and so the bullshit-mongers, to the extent that they believe their own bullshit, will not be accommodated, they will go splat against the windshield of onrushing events.

And if YOU ascribe to bullshit, you won’t be accommodated either, you are speeding through the direction of reality we call “time” and the events interspersed through it will splat you too.

And so Hollywood, the bastions of – cough – higher learning, the promoters of a “liberal” world order where oligarchs allowed to run rampant, these are people and things that don’t respect the macro-reality of time and space and its rules. These people, the New York Times included, may insist that THEY make the reality but this is a laughable conceit.

Big tits? Cry me a river. This is what reality imposes and so women with their heads screwed on right would use those tits to their best effect, that is, to attract the wealthiest, best-looking, most accomplished, most genetically fit male in their general environs. Oh shit, she doesn’t like men? Too bad, but reality deals with that too.

Big tits and nice tits are an advantage in this world, not a detriment. Any woman that figures otherwise is seriously at odds with reality and so reality dispenses with such women via the mechanics of natural selection. In short, they don’t reproduce.

I had a conversation about 20 or 25 years ago with a young woman I worked with and who wanted my advice.

She said it was about a “friend” but I knew it was about her. Now, this chick was really pretty, a university grad, really competent.

She said that this “friend” was torn between two men. One was a nice guy who wasn’t good looking but who was of good character and a good earner and highly accomplished academically and professionally. He wanted her badly.

The other guy was really good looking, a rascal, not as well educated but who had a modicum of accomplishment at work.

She wanted to know who this “friend” should pick.

I told her that if she went for the “nice” guy she’d be miserable and bored to tears and pining for the rascal. It was clear to me that the rascal was who she really wanted.

I told her that if she went for the rascal she’d be deliriously in love and happy and fulfilled at least until he broke her heart.

I told her the “friend” should go for the rascal because her going with Mr Nice wouldn’t be fair to him because she’d be thinking of Mr Rascal all the time. She even might be cheating with him.

Get the rascal out of her system first and experience some of the highs of getting who she wants and opposed to who her mother sez she should take.

Then, after the rascal breaks her heart and takes her money and throws her away, she might find some measure of happiness with a “nice” guy.

Well, thankfully, volodya, some of us have more boring lives and don’t have two at a time to choose from!

I wouldn’t want to be a ‘nice guy’ hanging around to be someone’s fall-back option – nice guys deserve better. But yeah, I know, justice isn’t a property of the universe.

And I’ll stick with the nice guy. I didn’t say he had to be actually ugly 🙂 . I don’t find classically perfect faces attractive anyway – that kind of look is a bit lacking in interest and they’re often too conceited to bother with.

But it was good of you to help her with her ‘friend’s’ dilemma – I hope it worked out…

          • volodya October 15, 2018 at 2:28 pm #

I don’t know if it worked out. And, oh yeah, she said the “nice” guy was a lot like me.

I don’t think it occurred to her she was handing me a back handed (or maybe front handed) insult but I made no mention of it, just an inward cringe. For the record, I’m not “nice”. It’s true though, I’m not good looking.

In any case, I always thought that “nice” guys are losers, they end up breast feeding the kids while their wives are out humping the biker gang. Tell me I’m wrong.

          • GreenAlba October 15, 2018 at 2:36 pm #

One other thing, you say “some” of us.

Does that imply you didn’t have two at a time to choose from? If so, I think you’re being way too modest.

Now, I know that guys are generally disreputable when it comes to these matters but it’s not as if all that matters are “looks”. At the risk of sounding “nice” (heaven forfend), we do look for other things, and if your writing is any indication I’ll bet you had some choices to make. Am I right?

          • GreenAlba October 15, 2018 at 8:43 pm #

“At the risk of sounding “nice” (heaven forfend), we do look for other things, and if your writing is any indication I’ll bet you had some choices to make. Am I right?”

I’m genuinely not sure what that means, since my writing brings me mostly flak on here.

“Does that imply you didn’t have two at a time to choose from? ”

I’m speaking from a regrettable lack of experience here, but I think dating mores were a bit different back in the 70s on our respective sides of the Atlantic. I know people can get away with all sorts now, with benefit of mobile phones and all their insidious uses, but even ‘dating’ was an American term back then.

In my neck of the woods, you ‘went out’ with someone, one boyfriend at a time, when you had one at all. The alternative was called ‘two-timing’ which was not done openly and was frowned upon. I can’t speak for the cosmopolitans, of course 🙂 . We were always a bit behind the times.

And in my case a combination of shyness and strict religious parents limited my activities – and nerve – somewhat. Even when I left home for uni I think they were still hovering on my shoulder. Married my first ‘real’ boyfriend whom I met on my own ‘year abroad’, although not till a few years later. Paid the price for such foolishness and inexperience.

            Water under the bridge…

  28. FincaInTheMountains October 15, 2018 at 12:33 pm #

The way that Russia is always and outsider and always treated with suspicion is in my opinion a religious issue at root. == Sofia

The Secret Diplomacy: From the letter I’ve recently got:

Dear Finca, your posts are read as a detective thriller, thanks for your work. Could you comment on the following hypothesis in the light of your theory of the struggle of color world projects?

During the period of utilization of the USSR, binding documents were signed between the Russian Federation and the United States for the dismantling of Greater Russia and a number of industries. Naturally, such agreements are guaranteed by something and the protective mechanisms of agreements are prescribed.

The team of President Putin was able to denounce most of the obligations of the Yeltsin’s Russia, essentially protecting the country from strangulation and collapse.

But from the point of view of international law and the United States as a party to the treaty, Putin is a criminal. Therefore, Clinton as a champion of international law wants to punish the “criminal” power of the Russian Federation and President Trump, refusing to punish violators of the treaty, shows himself to be a traitor to his homeland and actually a KGB agent.

From this point of view, is it possible that the whole movement in US politics becomes more understandable?

That is the question: is it worth to fuss, bringing up the theory of the colored world projects for Putin’s actual disobedience? Is Trump is a real Putin man or is he really an adept of the Orthodox world project and a meaningful supporter of liberating Russia from Egyptian captivity?

    My answer:

You understand everything correctly, only it was not Yeltsin who signed the capitulation, but Gorbachev, and Yeltsin was forced to carry it out, and he, too, signed something with Bush Senior to get Russia out of the ruins of the Union in one piece.

But Bill Clinton (Hillary!) didn’t recognize Yeltsin’s agreement with Bush, and Putin in a recent interview said that “after Russia admitted defeat (surrendered?) the peace did not come and the West (Hillary!!) continued the war, and destruction, and so the Cold War continues.”

I am quoting Putin very close to the text now, but I cannot find this interview and give the link, although I remember everything as if it was 5 minutes ago. It is important that, in conjunction with the Putin address to the Federal Assembly on March 1, this statement was regarded in the United States (and among Trump’s supporters) as a warning that they after their victory over Hillary, will have to pay on her debts.

And they are now wondering, what if after the victory of Putin’s Russia over them (if they refuse to pay their debts – I mean victory in a purely military sense) reparations will have to be paid not only for Ukraine, but will have to compensate for the damage caused to historical Russia = USSR since 1945.

That is why I say that Putin is better to make financial claims himself, otherwise they (the Trump supporters) calculate them in accordance with their own concepts and it turns out a lot, too much!!!

It is enough to recall the price paid by the USSR for its defeat in the Cold War, in order to believe that the second option would be too heavy even for the collective West, even if it admits defeat without first getting a nuclear fist in the face and turning into a pile of rubble.

I even remember that recently at one of the forums one of the men accused Hillary that she with her accusations of Trump spying for Russia raised again the the issue of Gorbachev and the illegality of all the agreements that he had signed.

I did not quite understand him, but in my opinion he hinted that Gorbachev’s activity as an American spy in the USSR in accordance with Hillary’s OWN theories was an act of war, for which not she would have to pay, but America.

According to my information, Gorbachev was at first an English spy, and then a German.

Rather, at 10 years of age, the German occupation troops forced him to shoot his own father, and English intelligence captured the video along with the archives of the Abwehr, married him to Raisa, and began to promote his career in accordance with the book of Zinoviev, “How to kill an elephant with a needle”.

And then Kohl recruited him, giving the USSR a loan of $140 billion in such a way that it ended up in Gorbachev’s accounts in Switzerland.

For which Thatcher denied Gorbachev entry into her house and even quarreled with Reagan, when the latter asked Gorbachev to take down the Berlin Wall.

    Not really hiding what happened.

So, historically, Gorbachev was first a German spy, then English, and then a German once again.

I gotta echo a lot of the sentiment here about psychological warfare being waged on the general population. It is coming from the larger corporation-owned MSM & from academia.

So, if you can presume that the motivators for this psywar op are money & control– then to what end? Who benefits?

It appears, imho, that the global multinationals wanna keep their game running of globalist trade. This makes sense from their point of view. They make more money with slave labor in Asia producing goods to the West.
The academic angle I think is something Dr. Peterson down really good. It has to do with social & political control by what Dr.P argues are neo-Marxists.

A 3rd force in this is the institutional, permanent bureaucracy of the federal government, i.e. Deep State.

I don’t know to what extent these two forces: the globalist corporate, and the neo-Marxist academic, and the Deep State are working together. If nothing else, the MSM is giving a largely tacit pass to the violence Antifa generates on the streets, and the MSM also “celebrates diversity” with pro-SJW articles in much of its content. The Deep State is fighting to keep a network of corruption alive, which I’d argue is being funded by globalist corporations, in part.

So, its a big, fucked up mix of corruption & greed with global consequences– and dashes of Marxism thrown in there for taste.

I’d imagine at some point the corporations are going to depose the Marxist angle. Maybe not, I have no idea.

    Fuckery all around.

    • Walter B October 15, 2018 at 1:05 pm #

Yes Pete, fuckery all around. In the shrunken World of today, the “group” as it were, that holds the most wealth and therefore the most power, would be the uber-wealthy international businessmen/bankers, the old royalty, and assorted other mega-wealthy individuals all around the planet. Now they may do a lot of working together to stay where they are, but human nature being what it is, they also do a lot of infighting and vying for more at the other guy’s expense you can be sure. The next group down the ladder would be those who work the controls of the military machines that are used to battle for stuff and power, which we have come to call the Deep State in all of it’s many forms. We at the bottom are the pawns, the workers, the slaves that keep it all running and who serve the wealthy Masters for pay or simply for food.

All three groups fight each other for power, for wealth, for sustenance, and they fight within their own ranks as well. The top two groups manipulate the bottom group (US) to aid in their quest of more for them and less for us and far too many of us are willing participants in the Game of Porcelain Thrones.

Too many of us at the bottom are jealous of those above us and not satisfied with our own lot, but the fact is that we have it better than the other two by a long shot. Here at the bottom, the possibilities for productive lives and great joy, wonder and happiness is far easier to be had, believe it or not. The greed, lust and desire for power that the top two groups live with are three pretty stifling enemies of happiness. There is much joy for us down here to find and appreciate. Look for it all, and find it, it is out there.

How is that possible with 23 pair of chromosomes? You are not the sum of all your ancestors. Most ancestors you can actually have is 46 and the mathematical odds of having that many are vanishingly small. Think about it! Each parent only donates half the ancestors they have. the others are not passed on. The digitizing effect of the 23 pair will manifest right away.

I believe cross-linking would be an exception not the rule thus allowing only a trace of any other ancestors in. A ratio far less than one in 1024. White buffalo rare.

      • volodya October 15, 2018 at 1:08 pm #

Each parent only donates half the ancestors they have. the others are not passed on. KD

You have half your mother’s and half your father’s DNA but isn’t their DNA all a chopped and mixed up mess of their ancestors?

Maybe it’s a misconception on my part. I don’t know, just askin’.

        • K-Dog October 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm #

We have 46 total chromosomes and according to Mrs. Dog the story goes Liz Warren has a half-Indian grandmother. Same as Mrs Dog in fact.

That means Elizabeth’s Grandmother had 23 native American chromosomes and one of Elizabeth’s parents had half of that 23 which actually means one in a bell shaped distribution of 24 discrete values (counting zero) with 11 or 12 chromosomes being the most likely number transferred to the parent with the ancestry.

The same bell shaped random distribution would happen with Elizabeth most likely getting 6 chromosomes as a result of her parental shuffle.

6 / 46 or about 13% would be the amount of native American blood Elizabeth has. She would have more or less if she got more or less than 6 chromosomes.

Sometimes genetic information is swapped between chromosomes but I believe it would be so rare considering it here would not be meaningful. If DNA were that fragile we’d be in big trouble. That kind of transfer is called cross-linking. A genetic expert could perhaps say how much cross linking goes on, not I.

The takeaway is that since DNA is grouped in chromosomal chunks and not all a chopped and mixed up, we are not an equal sum of all our ancestors In time some disappear.

Janos may find this useful in his justifications, or not. Lets see what he does; probably nothing. He could find this too confusing.

            Try reading for comprehension.

            * Nobody ever referred to the 1/1024 fraction , that is the inverse of 2 to the 10th power and has nothing to do with anything here. It was a misinterpretation which has nothing to do with Pocohanta’s grandmothers genetics and everyone knew to ignore it but you.

Not even the media is trying to defend Warren’s fantasy at this point – and certainly not the Cherokee Nation who have condemned her. Only you because of your Democratic Party fanaticism.

To be 13% Indian, she’d have to have a Grandparent who was a full blood. She’s not claiming that, but rather that one of her great, great, greats was “part” Indian. It comes out to about 1/1024 apparently.

Senator Warren, as a member of the August body, doesn’t have to play by the same regulations as the Lumpenproletariat.

I suspect, now that her minority status has been scientifically proven ( Sen. Warren being the direct descendant of, possibly 10 generations prior, a member of the Indigenous peoples) she, with her tribe, can probably declare whatever little patch of Washington, D.C. or the backyard of her abode in Massachusetts, as Indian Territory and open that casino with a tax-free cigarette outlet too.

Other questions arise as a result of the results:

DId Sen. Warren celebrate INdigenous Peoples day? And did she also take off the Columbus Day federal holiday?

JHK, spot-on observations–but mostly it’s astounding that they need to be pointed out. Then again, the obvious can be the hardest thing to acknowledge.

When you talk about “the tensions of being a mature mammal” I thought at once of Becker or Freud as they wrote very eloquently on related matters.

I especially remember Becker noting that part of the basic pathos of the our human “creaturely” condition involves having to be one sex or the other–never both. One’s project of childhood narcissism is **destined** to fail, as one can never be totally self-completed or self-created… looking to one’s past, one always owes one’s existence to one’s parents, and looking to the future, in order to create new life, one always must find another of the opposite sex. We are in some sense embodied as halves, not wholes. (Oh, the frustration of it!)

So, in a completely narcissistic and increasingly infantilized society, one that fetishizes Self above all else, I suppose it’s par for the course that such facts of our nature would soon be conflated with “oppression”, and call forth fashionable “progressive” protests like this. Nature, as ever, is the adversary–and behind that, probably mortality itself.

  33. beantownbill. October 15, 2018 at 1:27 pm #

Throw too many people into the pressure cooker of life, add in lust for power and money by government and corporatists, put in a dash of resource shortage, mix thoroughly and turn up the flame on the stove. No wonder we’re whacked out. Classic rat experiments have shown when there are too many rodents in a given environment, they begin to act abnormally.

The most important factor for our craziness though, IMO, is technology. Rapid technological progress brings with it great change in our living environment. Humans like the security of tradition that insures tomorrow will be pretty much the same as last week.

Much of the weirdness we’re experiencing in our culture today is humans reacting naturally to environmental pressures. That’s why, although this whole gender and sex issue is distasteful to me, I’m not concerned. Hey, you think it’s discomfiting now, wait until gender transfer back and forth is common, AI becomes inextricably entwined in our lives, and other profound changes occur. But don’t worry, it’ll all work out eventually. This isn’t the apocalypse, it’s just change.

    • volodya October 15, 2018 at 1:35 pm #

You’re right, it’s not the apocalypse as just a small percentage of people going through the gender identity thing.

I suspect that there’s a large measure of “look at me, look at me”, you know, status seeking.

Too bad that there’s so much attention on it. We have got bigger issues to deal with.

      • beantownbill. October 15, 2018 at 2:50 pm #

And that’s the crux of the main problem. Cut through all the bullshit and focus on what we need to do to advance. Staying still = death. All the stuff we read about in the news is a diversion resulting in inertia. Inertia = resistance to motion.

What is the purpose of life? Probably to evolve and spread throughout the cosmos. Preoccupation with gender seems to be an avoidance issue, like so much else in our world.

I continue to differ strongly with JHK on this, as when he opined about trans bathroom bills some time back.

Birth defects, and other differences from the norm, come in lots of shapes and sizes. When this subject comes up, I always think about a certain girl at my high school who was a few years behind me. Her face was seriously deformed, to such an extent that in a grosser age it’s possible, or even likely, she would have been sold to a freak show: to spend her life getting gawked at for pennies, an absolute pariah. Everyone remembers the case of John Merrick, for example; and he’s just one person who stands in for multitudes over the course of time.

Sometime in the past couple of hundred years, such spectacles of cruel indifference went out of fashion. People began to consider the possibility of treating those born with serious differences as, nonetheless, people — beings like themselves, worthy of their own share of dignity and participation in society. Inevitably, this means taking pains to consider the first-person experience of people who are different. For example, the adults in my school must have taken some care to ensure that other students knew something about about this girl, that they behaved themselves with respect to her, that she be included in school activities, and that she be able to fully take part in the life of the school. In later years I saw her again a few times, having now received reconstructive surgery (no doubt doctors had to wait for her bones to stop growing). I don’t know her name, but I have always wished her the best and I do so now.

I have no doubt JHK treats people with birth defects, or other serious differences, decently when he encounters them. He seems not to have internalized the reasons for such decency, though, nor learned how to apply the lesson to cases that are different but highly analogous, such as trans people. If he had, he would never perpetrate such bigoted caricatures as he repeatedly does. I would urge him, and anyone who disagrees with me but considers themselves to be of good will, to watch this video:

    Good day, all.

    • Walter B October 15, 2018 at 3:07 pm #

I am not going pretend to speak for Jim Kunstler, but from what I gather from his writings on the subject, he is not bashing or otherwise picking on these poor unfortunate “victims”, rather he is complaining about the ridiculous amount of air time, publicity for pity, and social engineering that goes on supporting these issues. I do not know if you have ever had children or not, but for me the only real problem I have is what I have been seeing coming from the public school agenda starting in 1995 when my twins began school and today with my 14 and 8 year old. The fact that so much time in school is now spent on these sexual and behavioral issues starting in Kindergarten, I find offensive. I do believe that much of it is all about “fund raising” and filling the ranks of future generations of sexual proclivities, especially since birthing still contains as many structural problems as it does for them.

So if you have a huge penis or only a tiny one, I really couldn’t care less. Keep it to yourself. If you want your short arm cut off or turned inside out, its your problem, not mine. And while I really do not care to have to be the one to have to pay for your operation, if you send me a really nice letter requesting that I help out financially with your problem, I might just be willing to make a contribution.

Pardon me, Walter B, but JHK definitely is bashing and picking on trans people. He’s certainly bashing Jill Soloway, if no one else, but his aim is wider than that. How else to interpret his remarks about “a nation consumed by make-believe”, his sarcasm about “the curse of large breasts”, and the rest of it? The question isn’t whether he’s bashing — he is — but whether he’s justified. He isn’t.

You might ask, what could be more obvious than male and female? And if I’d never heard of trans people, I would likely agree. Yet the fact is, they’re real, and they’re not kidding. When JHK characterizes trans people as wanting to “be, a figure apart from the boring, moiling, deplorable mob of morons who agree to be hostage to their own biology”, he is completely reversing cause and effect. Despite his denials, trans people persist in being trans because that’s how god made them, not for the sake of “fashion, status, and prestige”.

Coming to terms with this starts with understanding that being trans is every bit as much a product of biology as being straightforwardly male or female. It turns out, our standard categories describe reality… except when they don’t, for certain people, because of how they developed.

I support efforts to help make a place for trans people in mainstream society. It’s wrong to push people to the margins for being as god made them. I do find a lot of the rhetoric, and the ways people go about pursuing this goal, counterproductive. The key, for me, is to keep two ideas firmly in mind. First, society is for everyone. Second, when people tell you who they really are, believe them. We shouldn’t erase them to save ourselves the mental effort of putting ourselves in their place.

        • Walter B October 15, 2018 at 5:34 pm #

The god that made them is a different God that others refer to, is that what the lack of capitalization insinuates? Are there some scriptural passages that I have overlooked that describe the making of these alternate sexual categories? Do the works of antiquity detail these sexual proclivities or is it only now being discovered? I search for enlightenment.

          • Elrond Hubbard October 15, 2018 at 9:57 pm #

Walter, ‘as god made them’ is a wonderfully succinct turn of phrase. So I went for it, even though I’m not a believing person, and not prone to look to priests either ancient or modern to ratify my opinions. But no, transgender isn’t something that has only just been discovered; it’s simply that a conspiracy of silence has, for the moment, been broken.

As for categories, they’re useful things indeed. But let’s not lose sight of what makes them useful: the amount of mental effort they save. Here, watch this amazing video:

Just think: what that video depicts takes place inside just one small part, the nucleus, of one single living cell; and macroscopic organisms like you and me are made of literally trillions of cells. When you consider the truly shocking complexity that attends the development and metabolism of living organisms, it’s quite a relief to be able to boil someone down to a simple pronoun: him or her. Except, the truth of some people is that they aren’t — not him or her, I mean, not simply or totally one or the other. Complexity: sometimes it lets you down. (What a thought, huh?) And while the numbers of people in this situation may be minute, they’re still people.

That really is the hard part, I think. If you take the existence of people who don’t fit the gender binary seriously, then you end up challenging your own concept of what a person is. And since you’re a person, that challenges one’s concept of oneself. Even more than the jargon that turns people off, it seems to me that’s why some people kick back so hard against being asked to take the perspective of a trans person. It’s visceral, I get it. But in the end, you’re still you. You aren’t going to change because you extended someone else the courtesy of recognizing them, rather than dictating their identity to them for your own comfort.

          • Walter B October 15, 2018 at 11:00 pm #

Well EH, as they say, to each his own. I suppose that my dear old Dad set my course for me in raising me to want to be a working unit rather than an pleasure unit. And though I have had almost sixty five years of tremendous satisfaction building things, fixing things, making my life and the lives of others around me a lot more productive though my labors, I understand that such callings are not for everybody. Yes I have procreated and made and raised four wonderful daughters that are not only a blessing to me but to the world as well. But besides that, the rolling about and pumping of heated loins and all that comes of it was not exactly what I would call the most important thing I did with my life, nor was I overly consumed with such pursuits. But that is just me. I suppose that there are many out there that center their human values around what they do when they are naked and who they do it with, and I for one will not judge them, it is not my responsibility. I do however, choose to not be distracted by all of it and I prefer to center my efforts on my abilities to continue to be a more “constructive” member of my society. Most may not appreciate that, but those that I serve do and so do I and that is what counts in the end.

Walter, I concur. Elrod, my read is that Jim is just expressing his frustration.

Who is going to win the game of life?

The pack that is focused on survival, where everyone pitches-in, goes along, and gets along …

… or the herd that is focused on the individual?

        • Elrond Hubbard October 17, 2018 at 12:06 pm #

As I see it, TPTB, a society isn’t a group of people who are united in competition, but one united in cooperation. Likewise, the times when we’re doing well as a civilization aren’t the ones when survival is our first priority. It’s when we have the time, or make the time, to be kind to one another.

That which you are proposing is utopia. Sign me up!

Given the current set of parameters, how do you propose we get there? And, just to be clear, are we talking at the National level, or the World level?

What is more important, to win the battle, or win the war?

Just like the herd of cats, individuals are DEMANDING that society give full attention to THEIR issue, at a time when the focus should be on survival of the pack.

      >>> as when he opined about trans bathroom bills some time back.

Elrond, what you and other libtards don’t get is that we don’t care. We have a right to be let alone and not have freaky people with mental issues force us to acknowledge their lives and their issues. We have our own lives to live. We are under no moral or legal obligation to sit back in silence while freaks turn the nation into their personal circus.

The idea that the entire nation needs to change their customary bathroom habits so that a bunch of freaks that comprise significantly less than one percent can feel good about themselves is something only a libtard could dream up.

How about if we spend a billion in taxpayer dollars to put nice gun racks in all the bathrooms so that gun owners can rest their firearms on the gunracks while attending to their biological duties?

How about if we spend a trillion in taxpayer dollars to put a nice telescope in every john in the union? So that when astronomers do the necessary, they can feel better gazing out into the heavens?

There are all kinds of people in the world who would love to have all bathrooms customized to their exacting specifications at taxpaer expense. How you imagine that transgenders are the tail that wags the national bathroom dog is beyond me.

Yeah and what about the socially awkward who want eat their lunches in the stalls? Why aren’t their tables in there, with waiters or waitresses or wait people of indeterminate gender? Until we get the duality eliminated, it’s unfair to the last category who hate to go into the stalls to do their jobs.

What this is really about is mental illness – these people are suffering delusions.

Biology is real and matters – women do not have penises but men do.
Woman is not a costume or a feeling, it is rooted in biology. I cannot count how many times I have defended this truth. I have been labeled a TERF because of my position on the subject.

My participation in this debate began when my 14-year-old daughter came home from school and told me that certain teenage boys were permitted to change clothes with the girls in the girl’s locker room. She said some of the girl’s wear their gym clothes under their clothes because they are uncomfortable changing with ‘Trans-females’. This couldn’t be true, could it??? I believed that something fishy was afoot and I called the school to inquire about this policy.

I was told that the boys changing in the girl’s locker room identified as female, so all was well and aboveboard. I felt like I wasn’t understanding the details correctly so I questioned the administrator further because my daughter told me that when these female identifying boys were nude that they definitely were male in appearance. I was told that yes, these female identifying boys did still have all of their male biological ‘body parts’, but not to worry as they identified as female so they are really young women and that they had the right to change in girl’s locker room! I then asked if boys who didn’t identify as female, but as males, were they permitted to change with the girls? The administrator was taken aback, she said no, that would be totally against policy and if a boy went into the girl’s locker room, he would be suspended immediately!

I almost dropped the phone……So just to clarify, I repeated the administrator’s response and posed a question – So males that identify as female can change with the girl’s in the girl’s locker room, but males who identify as male cannot? I was told yes, that that was correct. I then asked the administrator how do you know who identifies as female and who identifies as male when they appear exactly the same – male – when they are nude? She became very quiet and said that the school follows all Board of Education and if I had an issue, I should contact the Board.

I couldn’t believe that this was actual policy. I was angry because the needs of these female identifying males were apparently more important and valid than the feelings and comfort of actual young women who just wanted to change their clothes in peace.

The scenario I use to counter this insanity: Suppose one morning I wake-up and decide I am a dog. I feel so strongly that I am a dog that I decide I am going to live as a dog. I make my family walk me in the park on a leash. I piss on fire hydrants and bark at passerbys while I do it. I even play fetch with my patient and accommodating family members.

Question: Does this make me a dog? Or does it make me someone who is living in a delusion? So how is denying my human biology to be labeled as a dog (something that I am not) any different from someone denying their male biology to be labeled a woman?

I believe that the world has truly gone mad…..

    • Janos Skorenzy October 15, 2018 at 3:09 pm #

Yes, biology is important. Liz Warren is 1/1024 American Indian (not Native American. Whites are the Native Americans). As such, she is far less American Indian than the “average” American (most people aren’t average, in fact, almost no one is in the statistical sense).

Did it not enter the board’s mind that a 14 year old boy might say he identifies as a woman so he can look at the 14 year old girls nude/semi-nude? How dumb are these people? Or is this just part of the kind of pre -ramp up for normalizing pedophilia?

Feminism is a Marxism and not a Humanism, as Jean Paul Sartre realized long ago. Thus it has no real interest in women per se, but only as weapons against the Capitalist System. And since one of their tactics is to degrade and demoralize all natural things, institutions, relationships, etc – well you get the drift.

Now of course among the Feminist Elite there is an Old Girls club, but that is different than being for women. As Gloria Steinem said, Non-Feminists aren’t Women. Problem solved!

I realized that I’ve been conflating Leslie Stahl and Andrea Mitchell into one whiny blob of a person. But was I so wrong? Both are inferior “hit” journalists who try to impose the narrative on their viewers and destroy anyone who does not conform to it. Stahl was grotesque last night as she did a gotcha “interview” with Trump. No conversation, just leading questions and when shut down on one, she would just go on to the next. Utterly shameless and subhuman, more machine than a person.

    >>> Speaking as a black woman… wait second! Can I do that?

The answer is no you cannot. While the current state of the Left’s obsession with their mental issues includes gender relativity, the same cannot be said of race. Consider the case of ex-NAACP leader Rachel Dolezal, born to white parents but “identifies” as a black woman (so basically a black woman trapped inside a white woman’s body). She was eventually outed by her relatives and was denounced as a fraud.

Also, regarding Elizabeth Warren (aka Pocahontas), the ultimate arbiter of whether or not you’re a native American is whether or not you’re accepted by other native Americans. So if some tribe is willing to certify Warren as one of their own, and include her in the casino-profits and give her a plot of land on the rez, then by god she’s a teepee-loving, feather-bonnet-wearing, smokem peace pipe Indian. Until then, she’s Pocahontas.

Good post Jim. Going with Mark Twain on this one. “History doesn’t repeat itself but it often rhymes.” Have we seen this happen before (descend into debauchery just before the fall)? It’s a little different this time, with the ability now to surgically remove offending sexual organs or take drugs. Just before the crash in ’29, Germany seemed to be suffering from a similar condition. What about the Romans or the Greeks just before their world crashed and burned? Poor Greeks, they seemed to get the bum wrap with a certain sexual act being called “Greek”.

  45. JohnAZ October 15, 2018 at 5:29 pm #

A couple has a child. Both parents wanted a girl but out came a boy. So we spend the next number of years treating the child as a girl. Parents create the sexual identity mess. The LBGT premise hat everything is DNA is baloney. Why the hell can’t the LBGT community just be demure about itself instead of trying to convince everyone that they are normal and everyone should try to be like them?

Children develop their personalities between age 0 and 5. The brain matures at that point producing a personality that is difficult to change from there on. Between 5 and 10 the sexual identity is established where boys model on their dads and girls mom. During both stages, the ego and Id are modeled by the parents behavior and example. The way the parents treat the kids affects their personality.

Is it okay for boys to play with dolls and girls to play with boys toys? II vote no during the formative years. Unles the parents indeed want a trans kid.

So who are the deviant ones, the kids or the parents?

A big part of my Existential Reality is my Cock, which many women are quick to grasp.

If Artificial Intelligence, like most phenomena, is “Emergent” as a psychic product of interaction with the external material world, particularly Evolution, then wouldn’t we expect Artificial Intelligence to be “Dualistic” and splitting into “Male” and “Female” constructs?

I bet you didn’t know (Vader didn’t) Planned Parenthood is not just in America it’s the number one heavily funded tool used by globalists to keep the worldwide population down or in check, push the toxic feminist ideology (lowers birthrates), and to mass sexualize children under the IPPF (International Planned Parenthood Federation) umbrella who’s in over 170 countries.

A pamphlet/book called, ‘Happy, Healthy, and Hot’ pushed and endorsed by the United Nations says you DON’T have to tell potential sexual partners that you have HIV, in ‘It’s Perfectly Normal’, and the “It’s All One Curriculum’ that has and is being given out to tens of millions of children is recommended for kids under ten years old.

In these three pamphlets it shows graphic images of kids and adults masturbating, teaching five-year-olds that masturbation is not harmful, gay sex, in the ‘It’s All One Curriculum’ they use the term “sexual pleasure” 62 times, the term “abortion” is mentioned 112 times and it says “there is no right age to have sex.”

Classes now where nine-year-old little girls are taught how to put a condom on a plastic penis.

Here’s the link to the 20-page ‘Health, Happy, Hot’ pamphlet:

And if you’re asking yourself why would the WHO, UN, EU, and Planned Parenthood push this stuff on our innocent kids?

    – Money $$$.

    – Brainwashing and mind control.

    – Creating the next generation of feminazis.

    – Population Control.

    – Make our societies disease and mentally ill riddled and hateful of the opposite sex.

Pushing this evil agenda means more STD’s, more pregnancies, more depression, anxiety, suicides, and mental health issues, and more abortions which means hundreds of billions of dollars to be reaped by globalist owned Big Pharma, hospitals, and Planned Parenthood to sell off baby parts like an assembly line.

68% of all AIDS cases in the U.S are with gay men who make up less than 1% of the entire U.S population.

To save our children and our society we must homeschool our kids/grandkids or at the very least get them into some sort of religious-based school until you can homeschool them.

97% of all new population growth is in the third world. They’re flooding into the USA and Europe as “refugees” to displace the indigenous people.

          • JohnAZ October 15, 2018 at 10:27 pm #

People in good economies produce less children and thus are more responsible with the overpopulation problem. So now, the indigent population, who breed like rabbits, see the good conditions and want a piece of the action. If the browning of America goes on unchecked, or the African Islamic invasion of Europe continues, these areas will be destroyed by the hordes. In the US, it appalls me that a huge percentage of European descent folks are willingly giving away their heritage. These people do not want to assimilate, they want it all. And they will fight each other to be dominant, as evidenced by the Black vs. Latino gang warfare in Chicago.

C’mon folks, do you really want the US to pass on to the invaders. Yes, invaders. If you say yes, why don’t you go find somewhere else to live and take your dark friends with you.

JS: Much of humanity seems destined to be ruled by a growing race of Supermen or Gods. This is the new one whose apotheosis is coming. Now consider: Brazil is majority non-White yet he is the leading candidate. Evidently a large number of Non-Whites are coming to realize that must be lead by Whites if they are to have any chance for a good life.

Jair Bolsonaro is about to become the Dictator of Brazil.
He keeps being referred to as “Brazil’s Trump,” but he’s actually going to be more like “Brazil’s Duterte,” as he won’t have an entire system cockblocking everything he’s trying to do, and will instead be able to simply order his enemies slaughtered like pigs in the streets.

For those unfamiliar with the soon-to-be President, here are a few of his greatest statements to date:
•“I’d never rape you because you don’t deserve it” (To a journalist who falsely accused him of rape)
•“Pinochet should have killed more people”
•“It’s my advice and I do it: I evade all the taxes I can”
•“I never hit my ex-wife. But many times I wanted to shoot her”
•“I will not fight against it nor discriminate, but if I see two men kissing on the street, I’ll beat them up”
•“If one’s son begins acting kind of gay, then when he is spanked he’ll change his behavior”
•“Preta, I’m not going to discuss promiscuity with anyone. I don’t run that risk because my children are well educated and they don’t live in the promiscuous environment such as is, unfortunately, yours”
•“PSOL is party of dicks and faggots. I will respond to the senator with toilet paper”
•“I would be incapable of loving a gay son. I wouldn’t be a hypocrite. I prefer that he die in an accident than show up with a mustachioed man”
•“The day of losers” [About the United Nation’s International Human Rights Day]
•“The scum of the world is arriving in Brazil, as if we didn’t have enough problems to resolve”
•“If I were a cadet in the Agulhas Negras Military Academy and saw you on the street I would whistle at you”
•“This idea of oh poor little black person, oh poor little poor person, oh poor little woman, oh poor little indigenous person, everybody’s a poor little something!”
•“Since we are a Christian country, God above all. This history of a secular state doesn’t exist, no. The state is Christian and the minority that is against it can leave. Let’s make a country for majority! The minority must bow to the majority. Law must exist to defend the majority! The minority suits itself [to the law] or just disappears”
•“I was at a quilombo . The slightest afrodescendant weighed 7 arrobas [230 pounds]. They don’t do anything. I don’t think they even serve for procreation anymore” [a quilombo is a black settlement in the Brazilian hinterlands]
•“Has anyone ever seen any Japanese begging? It’s a race that has shame in its face”
•“I have five children. There were four men, the fifth I got weak and a woman came out”
•“I used that housing allowance money to fuck people. Are you satisfied? Because that’s the answer you deserve”
•“What debt [of slavery]? I never enslaved anyone in my life. Look, if you really look at history, the Portuguese didn’t even step foot in Africa. The blacks themselves turned over the slaves”
•“With distance education, you help to combat Marxism”[distance learning is brazilian term for home schooling]
•“Jesus Christ was not totally passive. He drove the money changers from the temple. If he had a firearm, he’d have used it”

So clearly: this is going to be a very, very fun time.

The whole world is rejecting “democracy” in favor of authoritarianism at a rapid rate. This is presumably due to the rapidity of the rate at which the bizarre communist schemes and social engineering programs were rolled out across the planet.

    • SoftStarLight October 16, 2018 at 1:12 am #

It seems to be a confirmation of Plato’s Political Theory, namely that Democracies give way to Tyrannies. But again, he was for One Man rule as well. In other words, what’s the difference between a Philosopher King and a good Tyrant? Or to keep the former from becoming the latter – or even a bad one? It’s a crap shoot but what isn’t a crap shoot is Democracy – it’s always going to be bad.

Of course the average Leftist couldn’t tell a good Tyrant or King from Philosopher King, a good One from a bad One. He or She is always going to be for Democracy because that’s the stepping stone to Their Tyranny of Party Rule – which always means One Man rule in the end. And the hard core don’t even ASK if He is good or bad since he is by definition, Good. In other words, they are the most ignorant people of all. That’s the message of the 20th Century and they are teaching us the same thing all over again in a 21st Century way.

Much food for thought. I’ll try and post the whole Platonic Schema later. The Left may revile Plato but their history confirms his theory.

The little man in the boat will now grow, maybe surpassing the man with little hands. Men will become pregnant. Women will have linebacker frames and muscles just like Michael, er Michelle. A delicious diversion:

A Portland State University Professor Made Up a Study of Dog-on-Dog Sexual Assault—and Got the Hoax Published
Peter Boghossian and his colleagues launched the satirical broadside at feminist theory and race-studies scholarship. (Willamette Week news headline)

    Link to article:

    From Willamette Week article:

The Five Most Eye-Popping Claims in the Dog Park Paper

The following are excerpts from “Human reactions to rape culture and queer performativity at urban dog parks in Portland, Oregon,” a paper written by Helen Wilson, who doesn’t exist, as part of her work at the Portland Ungendering Research Initiative, which also doesn’t exist. It was published in the journal Gender, Place and Culture on May 22, then retracted Oct. 5.

“While I closely and respectfully examined the genitals of slightly fewer than ten thousand dogs, being careful not to cause alarm and moving away if any dog appeared uncomfortable, there is some relevant margin of error concerning my observations about their gender in some instances.”

“The data suggest that the deciding variable for whether or not a human would interfere in a dog’s rape/humping incident was the dog’s gender. When a male dog was raping/humping another male dog, humans attempted to intervene 97% of the time. When a male dog was raping/humping a female dog, humans only attempted to intervene 32% of the time.”

“During the span of my observations, there were 29 incidents among 15 dogs in which dogs controlled by shock collars were delivered an electric shock. All of those 15 dogs were male with male owners, and all 15 of the incidents involved a sexual act with another male dog, possibly implying homophobic shame triggering a violent response in the dogs’ male human companions.”

“Over the course of my observations there were 39 incidents of an adult human companion striking a dog (I did not count striking by children). All 39 of these incidents were perpetrated by male companions and 29 of the dogs struck were female.”

“Dog parks are microcosms where hegemonic masculinist norms governing queering behavior and compulsory heterosexuality can be observed in a cross-species environment. They are thusly oppressive spaces that lock both humans and animals into hegemonic patterns of gender conformity that effectively resist bids for emancipatory change.”

    • Walter B October 16, 2018 at 9:22 am #

So this person supposedly “closely and respectfully examined the genitals of slightly fewer than ten thousand dogs”? I understand that far too many humans do in fact act like dogs far too often, but for people that can examine dog undercarriages, paying close attention to whether or not the animals felt “uncomfortable”, for people like this to suggest that WE are the problem, well isn’t that a blatant case of the tail wagging the dog?

    • elysianfield October 16, 2018 at 12:08 pm #

Yup, their precious Title Nine will be in tatters unless they smarten up. Interestingly, the Radical Feminists loathe all of this and see it clearly for the madness that it is. They see virulent hatred of Men as the Healthy Normal. But of course, one error leads to the next in the downward path. And theirs was a major Way Station that lead to Trannies. I mean if you can’t beat them, join them.

I think Solloway is actually aping Man Ray. Is this better than Guys trying to be Audrey Hepburn? Or Mae West? Or just settling on being fat middle classed American White Women? The last is certainly the easiest. Kdog nails it: it takes a lot of money to really make it at a high level as the opposite sex.

Al Arabiya News: Oil at $200 a barrel and Russian Military Base in Saudi Arabia

Imposing any type of sanctions on Saudi Arabia by the West will cause the kingdom to resort to other options, US President Donald Trump had said a few days ago, and that Russia and China are ready to fulfill Riyadh’s military needs among others. No one can deny that repercussions of these sanctions will include a Russian military base in Tabuk, northwest of Saudi Arabia, in the heated four corners of Syria, Israel, Lebanon and Iraq.

The introduction of US sanctions against Saudi Arabia in accordance with the so-called “Magnitsky Act” will entail such consequences on the oil market that the current price increase will seem something petty and insignificant. And if the sanctions are really strong, then $100 is not the limit. This will not be very profitable for the American economy, but when it comes to annoy the allies of President Trump, Clintonoids simply refuse the brakes, common sense and an elementary self-preservation

American Elite Education Makes Intellectual Elite Intellectually Disabled

It’s very well known propaganda that in 2016 Trump was supported by so called “deplorables” while Hillary was supported by college educated Americans, who consider themselves to be intellectual elite of the Nation and of the World.

And to a some degree this propaganda is true. But according to my observations, used car salesmen recently became very interested in political history of their country and that makes me respect them and their political opinion. I see Steve Bannon films on their desktops all the time, while this so called intellectual elite is interested mostly in porn and football, or female fashion.

And the most important thing is that they remain absolutely ahistorical!!

In Soviet Union or Russia even physics and mathematics were presented as a product of intellectual history, as a never ending battlefields of ideas, while in University America all science from physics to art history is presented as a process of approaching THE PERFECTION – modern American science!

    And that explains it all!

Their education make this intellectual elite intellectually disabled when the situation exceeds limitations of their favorite propaganda and they reserve to just denying reality.

For instance look at this Yale professors and students. Don’t they just dismiss what Mr. Pozner is saying? Are there any connection between his words and their questions?

Meanwhile Mr. Pozner in Russia is considered to be the most pro-American journalist and he is trying to appeal to a common sense. For Russian one more step in that direction and you belong to crazy 3% of misanthropes, who love America just to express theirs hatred for Russia.

Vladimir Pozner: How the United States Created Vladimir Putin

  62. There is a spectrum, upon which you can locate someone’s gender and a seperate spectrum where you can locate someone’s sexual preferences.

Nature doesn’t create binary categories, that is something people do.

    Nature creates hues and shades.

Quite simply put, “Male” and “Female” are categories that work 95% of the time. The other 5% of the time they don’t- they just don’t and never will.

Or you could be one of the more-than-a-few whose comfortable understanding of their position in the categorical fails over time to describe them, because biology is not destiny; you are you plus your environment, and recombinant DNA viruses are embedding themselves in your DNA.

      Good / Evil

      Wet / Dry

      Predator / Prey

      Yin / Yang

      ……..ad infinitum.

As I throw out my lukewarm tea to get a hotter cup, while turning down the dimmer switch (OK, I made that one up, as it’s daytime -and I don’t have a dimmer switch – but you get my drift), I’m not seeing hot/cold or dark/light as binary categories exactly, unless I’m misunderstanding what a binary category is, which is very possible.

I’ll grant you ‘o/1’ but I’m having the same problem with good/evil and wet/dry. These all strike me as spectra.

    • Exscotticus October 16, 2018 at 10:16 am #

      >>> Quite simply put, “Male” and “Female” are categories that work 95% of the time. The other 5% of the time they don’t- they just don’t and never will.

Biological sex is a lot more than 95%. More like 99.999%. And the rest are hermaphrodites in which one of the sets of genitalia are not fully developed and there is insufficient development of either genitalia to procreate. So an evolutionary dead end.

    • Walter B October 16, 2018 at 1:17 pm #

There are people that bite the heads off of bats and some that eat their own feces too. In fact, why don’t we slow down the pace of the entire herd to that of the weakest member? Embrace oddity, enable all forms of everything. We MUST be inclusive regardless of the ill effects for in the end, technology will save us all! Wow, just wow!

  63. what have we got from having a passel of tax dodging real estate Moguls in the white House?

Why, a $779 billion dollar federal deficit for 2018

Thanks to the Republicans, those fiscal hawks

    • JohnAZ October 16, 2018 at 12:05 pm #

It is bad. The only thing that would be worse is if the Democrats were in charge with one exception, higher taxes would be taken from all aspects of the economy, including us.

I noticed on the report that even with the tax cut, Federal revenues were higher than last year. That means that more economic activity is generating more revenue for tha government. How about we watch this until 2020, and make the judgement then.

    • pequiste October 16, 2018 at 5:59 pm #

I agree with you Lil’ Debbie Snack but would also include the Democrats as part and parcel of the same bunch of crooks that run the show located in Baghdad-on-the-Potomac.

Could anyone imagine the government ever running a surplus with its income and taxes and using the sequestered funds for very real contingencies here in the U.S.S.A.?

How about the enormous costs of Hurricanes Florence and Michael just this year alone? Tens of billions of dollars needed to assist and rebuild.

Last year’s triple witching storms; Harvey, Irma, and Maria also costing many tens of billions of dollars.

Instead, we are getting ready for global thermonuclear war with Russia and CHina; protecting our NATO allies who are already in full invasion mode (getting invaded that is), and playing grand protectors of the undeserving from Somalia, Mali to Yemen and Pakistan, and yes, Goddammit, we are still in Iraq and Shitholistan after 17 years.

VOTE ALL INCUMBENTS OUT. (It ain’t going to help but sends a good message.)

  64. So, according to the New York Times, there is a camp outside el paso housing 13000 illegal border jumper kids. There is a doctor on staff, everything is hygenic, we are all praying $750 per kid per day to run this while it is reported, today, that 114,659 children in NewYork City that attend public school are homeless, of which 38000 are living in shelters.

Thank God for the new York times, if not for real journalism of the free press, we would be no better off than old Russia is today- unfortunately that is changing. New Russia is here, finding a fertile market for it’s bullshit among those who have foreskin the newspaper, and swallowed the internet meme machine as a wholesale replacement for print journalism. It was an ignominous slide from print, to television, to the real idiot box, the internet web news aggregator.

USA is dying. Whats the scheme? kalergiri plan? cloward Piven?

      • Janos Skorenzy October 16, 2018 at 2:28 pm #

Kalergi Plan is the Goal. Cloward-Piven a strategy thereto. Of course in the larger sense, Kalergi might be a strategy too – with the goal being the Elite in firm control forever, being the last remaining High IQs amidst the dark masses.

One Man’s Plan is another Man’s Strategy. For nutty Leftists, getting rid of Whites is seen as a good in and of itself, as if it is equivalent to creating a Just Society. Needless to say, the Elite are not so stupid and have no interest in such ideas of Justice either. They have their own ideas.

But can they ever hope to defeat the more normal men of Islam and East Asia with this? Or will they be content with just a big chunk of the world? Islam won’t be content to leave Them in peace though.

      • USA has only one winning move. Utopia through representative democracy.

Vote the incumbents out, vote your interests in.

Start planning on Universal Basic Income. Your free USA-bucks will replace everything else. You’ll use ’em to buy at Walmart, pay your taxes, of course all your online shopping. But not the luxuries. No, that will require good old USD.

The American experiment will go on!

The rest of the world will follow along, and… some of it won’t.

We’ll think of them in their freezing concrete bungalows built on some wasteland formerly occupied by a faded industrial infrastructure, and agitate for their liberation.

We’ll be cozy behind our wall with our friendly trade partners and wish them the best of luck as we turn away from the Old Internet, and eventually break away from Earth on a pollution-free cloud of nearly limitless fusion energy.

        Mars is our destiny.

4,000 years of possible human habitation, a planet custom-made (with slightly lower gravity and an adaptation period) and ready to receive the second evolution of humanity.

We’ll bring all the stuff we’ve killed off on this planet, to this new world and grow new worms and new diseases a branch, improbably pulling our entire tree of life out and into a new epoch.

For an advanced monkey, thats pretty good in interstellar terms.

I wish you all, the best of luck.

$750 a Day per kid!! Where did you get that figure? Shit that’s 22.5 large per kid per month. I’ll put them up for a tenth that and I’ll make a fortune. I can probably swing playoff tickets, dental work and an all inclusive smorg. I rent 1500 sq ft for 800 balloons a month, 3 bedrooms, enough for 10 mouths last I checked. and that includes all the fruit and veggies you can eat in season.Something is rotten in Denmark. Or the Feds are getting taken on a serious ride. As far as the 114,659 homeless kids in NYC, perhaps their mom’s should have kept their legs shut. I have seen poverty up close and it usually includes a 65 ” flat screen and all you can eat Mac and Cheese. Me I still watch a Curtis Mathis 25″ CRT.

  65. volodya October 16, 2018 at 10:51 am #

Green Alba, the reply button isn’t working for whatever reason.

You say, “I’m genuinely not sure what that means, since my writing brings me mostly flak on here.”

It was meant as a compliment. You said that you’re not attracted to classically perfect faces. Well, aside from my wife , the women I liked weren’t ugly but they were never classically pretty either. What they did have was a way of carrying themselves, and a quality of intelligence. My wife, luckily for me, has all that, a certain je ne sais quoi, you know, an indefinable “depth” or “cool” AND intelligence AND prettiness.

Playboy bunnies may be pretty and sexy but aside from a roll in the hay, in my books they’re not good for much else. Otherwise they wouldn’t be doing what they’re doing. I have no way of knowing your appearance but your quality of intelligence, as shown in your writing – regardless of the stances you take – makes you attractive. Hence my comment that you must have had your pick regardless of your insistence otherwise and hence my saying you’re being too modest.

And yeah, I’ve given you my share of flak. No matter.

And sometimes, the biology of attraction defies expectation. New acquaintances to me and my wife invariably looked at me, then at her, then at me, then at her, and you can see the question on their face, how in hell do these two go together given the disparity in looks. One gal, a co-worker, said it out loud, during an after-work drinking session, she looked at me and told me my wife is very pretty. Then, alcohol having loosened her lips, burst out with “what is SHE doing with YOU?” It was a good question but alcohol having loosened MY lips I responded with “big dick and bad attitude.” A liquor fueled answer maybe but maybe one not all that far off from reality but – ahem – only the “bad attitude” part.

The point is attraction isn’t a one dimensional thing, not even for a bozo like me.

As far as your regrettable lack of experience, there’s no ideal solution to mating dilemmas. From what I’ve seen, it’s a real crap-shoot. You just don’t know how matches will work out. Me and my wife have had some real barn-burners, you know, we kept the neighbors entertained. As you say, water under bridge.

American Television Sunday News: Hillary Clinton Announces Hot Civil War

In fact, there was a lot of other news, but this news is so out of the ordinary that I decided to put it in a separate post.

And not so much because it confirms what I tried to tell you about the coup d’état on September 14, which was suppressed in a very mysterious way on September 28 in the middle of the confirmation hearing of Judge Kavanaugh, but because most rejected my analysis of this coup d’etat because they saw in this an attempt to whitewash Israel from responsibility for the IL-20 catastrophe.

And this deprives them of confirming their favorite theory about Israel as the main anti-Christian force, and they absolutely do not pay attention to the fact that from the point of view of geopolitics, the position of Israel as a result of this catastrophe has deteriorated greatly, and their favorite theory, combined with this provocation, turns Putin’s Russia in the eyes of Americans, who had just openly declared the Russians “white knights”, to the country of Gog and Magog and the heirs of Hitler’s Germany, and the Russian Church as the church of Satan.

And I think that the behavior of the Patriarch of Constantinople in Ukraine is a direct result of the bacchanalia that the Russian media and bloggers staged in connection with the IL-20 catastrophe, in the sense that Bartholomew of Constantinople is an ecumenist and well-known anti-Christian, but he would not dare to autocephalize Ukraine right now if would not for you, my dear anti-Semites!

The bull doesn’t care about the matador’s sword – it only needs to butt a red rag!

So returning to Hillary Clinton, in an interview with Amanpour, in response to a question (3:22) about how to keep the US from slipping into war (civil war), she said that only after the Democrats seize the majority in Congress and the Senate is possible to return to civilized methods of political struggle

This was combined with a speech at the election rally of the former Attorney General, Eric Holder, who said that the Republicans are behaving so low (meaning Kavanaugh’s confirmation by a simple majority of 2 votes), that the Democrats should simply beat them, and I personally heard these words as to kill, not to beat, and I just listened to this passage three times and in my opinion he still says “kill”.

And the leader of the Republicans in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, has already linked these speeches (though not directly, but indirectly, but connected) with the shooting of Trump on his closest friend and Republican Whip in the Congress of Scalise, on the day of Trump’s birthday / And he addressed this threat directly to the “Madame President” = Hillary Clinton and called her followers a “new democratic party” (2:50)

I would like to draw your attention that a year and a half ago, it was Mitch McConnell who forced the Republican senators to vote on the anti-Russian sanctions law, which actually deprived Trump of presidential powers 5 hours after the execution of Scalise, and when Trump refused to sign it, he, along with Paul Ryan, threatened him with immediate impeachment.

So in this case, he knows what he is talking about.

Here’s a worthwhile thing to read from the NY Times no less, a rag I’ve disdained for a long time. Seems that the prospect of hanging does focus some people’s minds.

The subtitle sez that perception of a common national identity is essential to democracies and the modern welfare state.

“because we live in a tower of Babel manufactured by our corporations…” KDog

Truer words were never spoken, KDog.

More about this in Chris Hedges’s brilliant book “Empire of Illusion: The End of Literacy and the Triumph of Spectacle.”

The first two lines of the Amazon description: “We now live in two Americas. One–now in the minority–functions in a print-based, literate world that can cope with complexity and can separate illusion from truth. The other–the majority–is retreating from a reality-based world into one of certainty and magic.”

    • volodya October 16, 2018 at 1:09 pm #

“One–now in the minority–functions in a print-based, literate world that can cope with complexity and can separate illusion from truth.”

Hah. The print-based, literate world is the one furthest from the world of reality. They’re the ones most susceptible to illusion, the ones most unlikely to see what’s evident. They’re unable to cope with complexity, rather, they take refuge in simplistic arguments and theories and abstractions and pre-chewed ideologies that absolve them of the necessity of thinking things through, after all, reasoning for one’s self is energy-consuming and stressful.

      • bibliomaniac October 16, 2018 at 1:14 pm #

Volodya–Oh REALLY? Have you checked out the “American Journal of Climate Change” recently? What’s coming at us is very REAL.

        • volodya October 17, 2018 at 12:54 pm #

Yeah really, and, as a matter of fact, I read a lot of stuff, both reputable and maybe not so reputable, including this:

Do you have any idea who the author is? I sure don’t but “principia scientific” sounds so august doesn’t it? Never mind, let’s see what the chap has to say.

Firstly, look up Milankovich Cycles. What we’re facing, according to this article, are global temperatures we last saw during the Pliocene between about 5 million and 2.5 million years ago, when people were getting up on their hind legs and looked more like upright chimps.

According to this guy, what we have ahead of us is a warm patch of about another 15,000 years before glaciers start to advance once again. That’s without people pumping CO2 into the atmosphere.

Now, this is me talking and not the article’s author, I’m not going to be around in 15,000 years and frankly I wouldn’t want to be because if archaeology has anything useful to say, it’s that those cold stretches were pretty tough on a lot of folk. The Neanderthals kept getting degraded by successive cold snaps until they went bye-bye. According to one study I read, Sapiens in Europe was on its last legs until their numbers were replenished by migration from the east. If you want to over-generalize, warm is better than cold. At least IMO. It’s just easier to grow stuff. When the breadbaskets of the world are under 2 mile thick ice sheets, when the rest of the world is a cold and arid place, when millions of cubic miles of water are locked up in continent-crushing glaciers, life can be pretty tough. Now, central Asia during the last glaciation was apparently a real meat locker where the locals had a lot of herd animals on vast grasslands to hunt down. But that’s how it was there. It wasn’t so much fun in other places.

Back to the article: Now, this may surprise a lot of people but the last line asks a question, one that I had asked for a long time and could never find an answer to: what level should we then keep CO2 to avoid another devastating glaciation? The author then sez that if we want to survive long term we should never let CO2 fall below 300ppm ever again.

So much for the article. But there’s differing opinions on all this, because notwithstanding the insistence that climate science is “settled” science, it ain’t, not by a long stretch. So, another author said that we’ve indefinitely postponed the next ice-age because of our burning of fossil fuels. Another from MIT said that we’ve got about 2,000 years of warm before the next ice age sets in and then it’ll be like the other ice-ages, that is, no damn fun. And, according to this view, there’s nothing we can do about it.

So, if for no other reason, maybe we should stock-pile fossil fuels so our distant descendants can burn them to increase the CO2 ppm so as to warm up the planet and stop the glaciation. It’s just a suggestion. However the problem is these cycles recur. So what about the cycle after that?

We now have climate change caused by people intersecting with the naturally occurring variety. What’s gonna happen? Does anyone really know? How “settled” is the science of naturally occurring climate change? The problem with climate change, not only that caused by humans, but also climate change caused by natural events, is that it’s a massively complex problem.

The people telling us what’s what need to present it as such and present the public policy implications, all of them, not just some of them. But this is science, and we know that numbers are boring things. Being dispassionate and objective is a drag. A DRAG. Doing meticulous research gives you such a headache.

Hysteria is much more fun, it’s energizing, the boys get to posture, the girls get to look up at them admiringly, and a lot of charlatans can make a lot of money. And politicians are astoundingly full of shit and the people screaming at us to do something, are the ones not doing anything, in fact they’re the ones with exorbitant lifestyles, so why the fuck would we listen to them?

Can’t get in the way of money can we? Or, for that matter, whoopee in university dorms. I just wish we could get science without any bullshit. You may have noticed, given that academic careers are on the line, and political agendas, and a lot of freakin’ MONEY, I have severe doubts we’re getting the straight goods on any of this.

      • K-Dog October 16, 2018 at 2:37 pm #

They’re unable to cope with complexity,

There you go; in a video you would be able to get by with that but in print you commit yourself.

‘They’re’ implies an ‘other’ so to have any valid point here you need an other with which to contrast but you don’t have one.

print-based, literate world is the one furthest from the world of reality.

So which world is closer, you don’t say. Which other world is there, against which to compare, you don’t say.

And the reason you don’t come up with an ‘other’ is because if you did you would not be able to construct a valid argument.

        • volodya October 17, 2018 at 10:03 am #

K-dog, I don’t know about you but I’ve been to those exalted realms of knowledge and learning, the university, where I got myself a degree.

So, I’ve seen the world of the real, the everyday world where people have to make a living, and I’ve seen the fantastical nonsense they spin in those ivy covered buildings.

Now, I’ve been posting here for a while and I’ve written a lot of stuff. Having said that, my posts aren’t required reading and they aren’t cut in stone and there’s no quizzes, so I don’t blame anybody for not knowing what I’ve been talking about, you included. But I’m not going to regurgitate years of posts to satisfy your gripes.

Here’s some advice, and you can take it or leave it as you please as I really don’t give a damn; fucking open your eyes and see what’s going on around you.

As to what university I went to and my major it’s none of your damn business. If I choose to disclose something about myself I’ll disclose it as I see fit.

In that case, janet, please stop posting and go away. The power, the computer, the network, and all the software you’re using was created by Western Civilization. Please limit your existence to cultural and technological advances that came from the third world.

        • JohnAZ October 16, 2018 at 2:09 pm #

Yeah, Western Civilization and China are responsible for just about everything. Maybe Janet can go live in a grass hut, or a cave because that is where we would be without WC and China.

          • K-Dog October 16, 2018 at 3:18 pm #

I hope talk of mud huts in South America does not return.

      • Cavepainter October 16, 2018 at 2:16 pm #

Get it? Janet is personification of how neurosis occurs when social survival circumstance wobbles too far into a temporary stasis state of complacency, such as has existed now for multiple generations (almost exclusively in Western nations).

That “state”, now tapering toward JHK’s forecast of the Long Emergency, is (was) a historical anomaly of material abundance. Evolution’s more normative state which programmed humanity’s survival strategy varied greatly and mostly in dire ways.

Threading that needle of complexity required flexibility, engineered in our case in the duality achieved by two sexual genders, each comprising a counter balancing agenda enabling flexible strategic shift to preeminence of one over the other as appropriate in face of threatening pressure – from “without or within”.

Fanciful fantasy manufactured by the public opinion management industry (media) – on behalf of ruling interests – sustains this illusion of “stasis state abundance” (calling to mind JHK’s “techno-triumphalism”), giving rise to the current political theater of neutering the male agenda much as though it has become a superfluous physical appendage.

Consequently, as displayed by Janet, the female agenda has been released from orbit around the gravitational core of reality, no longer balanced by its counter force of the male agenda.

Accordingly, moderating decorum of interaction between the sexes (gentle-manliness and its feminine equivalent) have been dropped as obsolete restraint against “liberated expression”. Amy Wax addresses this eloquently.

Anecdotal evidence from public behavior these days indicates that outward male expression has bifurcated between extremes; one being that of docile compliance to female impulse which becomes more and more endless shopping and raising male children as daughters; the other that of the tattooed savage (JFK’s favorite description) showing absolute disdain for conformity to any code except that of pirate.

Hence we have Janet, embodying the female Utopia wherein the limitations of material reality must not be reckoned when emotions are a stake. Men, therefore, must surrender their inherent assignment of wrangling the difficult realities that force survival decisions requiring ignoring pure emotionalism.

And, most especially, in recognition that the first order primal drive of the female psyche is to commandeer the resource represented by the male, to purpose of assuring the prospect of her genetic strain above that of any other female in the social order and competition for resources.

Because this is the “bedrock” to the female agenda it compels quest for absolute devotion of the target male who is qualified by social status, personal prowess and other “attractive” traits in descending order. “Maleness”, in the abstract, is reflected in how nouns, pronouns and adjectives, in certain languages, bear “grammatical form” different from the “female” form. Abstracted further it encompasses the abstraction of government in its most authoritarian extreme.

Janet’s Utopian dream is really based upon emotional hysteria like that of women betrayed by men who then blame men generally, just like the impulse to blame all men for the rapacious action of the few. It’s men, dammit!

        • volodya October 17, 2018 at 10:57 am #

Your point is a good one. You could argue that the prospect of starvation, or death from predation, or disease, or the many other means of meeting a ghastly end, focused the mind. But it appears that agricultural productivity increased to the point where a food-producing farm family now can support fifty non-farm families that don’t produce food. And red-clawed lions and hyenas and saber-toothed tigers are no longer stalking the land.

All those people, therefore, whose minds need not be focused on the prospect of imminent demise, are now free for other pursuits, including thinking about engineering problems, or problems in mathematics or medicine or plumbing or art or music.

Or they can go fucking insane which is what calorically sated western societies appear to do periodically. It wasn’t long ago that people were seeing satanist day-care providers everywhere and convicting them and jailing them for long stretches. Joe McCarthy saw communists under every bed. Today, as you say, especially in “progressive” circles, it’s sexual hysteria. And just look at university campuses and what passes for learning. People’s minds, unoccupied with the problems of survival that consumed their ancestors’ energy and attention, who no longer have to do a million things just right so as to ensure their continued existence, who once needed a large repertoire of skills and knowledge just to get food and clothes, are free to go round the bend. And so they do.

That article did an artful spin with numbers which I could debunk but I have better things to do.

For anyone aware of Spencer Wells and his work, the database in which to trace ancestry already exists. The article suggests Warren’s genetic test was bogus and that is just plain wrong. Accuracy can be questioned yes, but the testing yields valid results as long as accuracy is understood to be imperfect.

The author tried hard to make their bullshit sell and it shows.

You know that America unknowingly lost the ability for any effective dissent when the internet went up but it is hubris of you to think that the internet manipulation can also disrupt enemy individuals in foreign lands the same way it happens in America and the 5-Eyes so easily now.

You also forget that when a dog is actually targeted for extra paper training how many resources it takes. It costs a lot of money to gang stalk people but you can’t draft community help and outsource that activity because then it is not a secret paper training weapon any more. Following me around must have cost hundreds per hour. That simple observation allowed me to have a far more healthy perspective about the whole thing. Good I thought of it.

I apologize, JohnAZ. It occurred to me you may not know the origins of mathematics. Numeracy pre-dated writing with the first known written numerals created by Egyptians in Middle Kingdom texts such as the Rhind Mathematical Papyrus.

If it weren’t for the Hindus, the Egyptians, the Persians, the Africans, the Chinese, the Muslims, etc. we wouldn’t have the knowledge or technology we have today, including the concepts of zero used in binary logic (George Boole benefited also) and mathematics.

No Janet, the math you site derived from effort to ratify mystical beliefs, accepting that sequence, etc., if fiddled with enough would lead directly to a god head — of sorts — and forthwith immortality. In similar sense physicist in our time came to be held in awe like modern day Merlins. Number crunching in effort to gain grasp of the mechanics behind empirical evidence was nurtured by Western Culture — actual free inquiry outside the bounds of mystical belief.

Give it up Janet, everything you write here is neurotic.

      • janet October 16, 2018 at 4:24 pm #

Examine your prejudices, cavepainter. The truth of the Theory of Relativity is independent of its author’s belief or non-belief. The Pythagorean Theorem works despite the Pythagoreans being a mystical sect.

Saying mathematics (created prior to “Western Civilization”) was to “ratify mystical beliefs” is completely irrelevant.

        • janet October 16, 2018 at 4:30 pm #

Cavepainter you have an ethnocentric bias and you too easily believe the mainstream accounts of the rise of the West.

It is often assumed that since Ancient Greek times Europeans have pioneered their own development, and that the East has been a passive bystander in the story of progressive world history.

There were actually two processes that enabled the rise of the ‘oriental West’. First, each major developmental turning point in Europe was informed in large part by the assimilation of Eastern inventions (e.g. ideas, technologies and institutions) which through oriental globalization diffused from the more advanced East across the Eastern-led global economy between 500 and 1800.

Second, the construction of European identity after 1453 led to imperialism, through which Europeans appropriated many Eastern resources (land, labour and markets). For example, the European Renaissance and scientific revolution would not have been possible without the contributions to human civilization from the Islamic Middle East.

I’m not talking about computation in some abstract sense; I’m talking about the electric grid, the computer and network you’re using right now. The predecessors were invented by Western Civilization—if not the very models you’re using. However, if you find some third world abstract use of “computation”, then feel free to use it as they did. It certainly won’t involve this forum.

And, btw, the pyramids and all the architectural marvels of ancient Greece and Rome were built without the concept of zero.

New ethics complaints have been made about Justice Kavanaugh’s temperament at his confirmation hearing in September. Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John Roberts has referred more than twelve of those complaints to the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.

The complaints are likely to die in the Tenth Circuit. That’s why the House of Representatives MUST open an impeachment investigation against Kavanaugh because these complaints about Kavanaugh’s temperament are serious. More than 2,400 law professors agree that his behavior was disqualifying. Even former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens said he thought Kavanaugh was unfit for the Court.

If Chief Justice Roberts had referred these complaints before the Senate voted to confirm Kavanaugh, this review might have had an impact. But now that Kavanaugh is already sworn into the Supreme Court, it’s unlikely the Tenth Circuit will hold him accountable.

That’s why we can’t rely on this review alone. The House of Representatives has the authority to launch an investigation into Kavanaugh’s conduct, including whether he corruptly obtained his seat on the Supreme Court, and impeach him based on their findings.

“Give it up Janet, everything you write here is neurotic.” –Dr. Cavepainter

Neurosis? Another example of the failure of Western Civilization. Neurosis is a meaningless concept, variously defined as:

anxiety, sadness or depression, anger, irritability, mental confusion, low sense of self-worth, etc., behavioral symptoms such as phobic avoidance, vigilance, impulsive and compulsive acts, lethargy, etc., cognitive problems such as unpleasant or disturbing thoughts, repetition of thoughts and obsession, habitual fantasizing, negativity and cynicism, etc. Interpersonally, neurosis involves dependency, aggressiveness, perfectionism, schizoid isolation, socio-culturally inappropriate behaviors, etc.

Everyone has had those symptoms at some time, cavepainter. To say someone is neurotic is to same they are human. This applies equally to all the sexes and all the genders and all the possible permutations of orientations.

    • Exscotticus October 16, 2018 at 5:57 pm #

And here’s our resident libtard—janet—demonstrating the Left’s penchant for destroying the capacity for rational thought by attacking language itself.

My favorite example is “hate speech”. Regulating speech is notoriously difficult and always leads to arbitrary and inconsistent enforcement and abuses that favor the status quo. It’s entirely incompatible with “free speech”. I don’t know why Europeans put up with it. Europe’s democratic republics may be more modern than the USA’s, but Europeans have lost the right to defend themselves and say unpopular things.

Moreover, when you prevent your neo-Nazis from marching or whatever your hate speech laws purport to accomplish, you simply drive them underground. And then one day someone like Anders Behring Breivik emerges and goes on a rampage. So much better to get these groups out into the open where they can expend all that pent up rage enriching the political discourse.

      • janet October 16, 2018 at 6:32 pm #

Exscotticus, your premise that Europeans have “lost the right to defend themselves and say unpopular things” is incorrect. Paragraph 2 of Article 10 [of the European Convention on Human Rights], says freedom of speech “is applicable not only to ‘information’ or ‘ideas’ that are favourably received or regarded as inoffensive or as a matter of indifference, but also to those that offend, shock or disturb the State or any sector of the population.”

        • Exscotticus October 16, 2018 at 6:55 pm #

Wrong, janet. Germany has strict laws banning Nazi symbols and what’s called Volksverhetzung—incitement of the people, or hate speech. Like more than a dozen European countries, Germany also has a law criminalizing Holocaust denial.

          • pequiste October 16, 2018 at 9:15 pm #

And in many parts of the “free speech” Eurozone paradise one had better not publish anything negative regarding refugees, unruly Africans, or (Allah forbid) radical Muslims, Jihadis and Islam.

A great way to be fined or worse.

“Your statement about Trump’s economy is a LIE” –JohnAZ

After years of refusing Obama, when he was begging to lift sequestration and cut taxes for workers, congressional Republicans have joined Trump to boost government spending by hundreds of billions of dollars and pass $1.5 trillion in unpaid tax cuts.

There’s been, in other words, a large, deficit-financed demand-side stimulus of the sort Republicans condemned when Obama asked for it but were all too happy to pass as soon as Trump took office.

And after years in which Republicans warned that fear of long-term debt was stopping corporations from investing and the economy from growing, they’ve added trillions to the national credit card without any evident harm to the economy.

That is the truth about “Trump’s economy”: it is Obama’s economy. Trump took the Obama economy and added a Keynesian spending boost Republicans never would’ve let Obama do.

Unfortunately the Trump money miracle has gone to the top 1% and not to an increase in workers’ wages. That is the Truth about the false Trump economy which is tilted toward his billionaire friends.

janet, what you call “Obama’s economy” was nothing more than Bush’s economy. In fact, Obama never met a Bush policy he didn’t like. Whether it was torturing, assassinating, locking suspects up indefinitely without a trial, trying suspects in secret courts with secret witnesses and secret evidence, domestic spying, secret lists, offshore drilling, the continuation of the “war on terror”, deficit spending—you name the Bush policy and Obama was likely for it. Obama and Bush are basically ideological brothers from different colors. The B in Obama stands for Bush…

Good summing up of the billionaire transnational globalist elite, their agenda, their goals, the way they work and network, and their fear and hatred of traditional America and Great Britain.

The author is an insider and actually hobnobs with these people as a NYT writer at places like Davos, Jackson Hole, Aspen, and TED Talks.

Just briefly, the globalist elite do not like our electoral system and are genuinely put out the Hillarly Clinton had to stand for election and did not simply accede to the Presidency. Nationalism is their bugaboo, and do not understand why ordinary Americans do not recognize their greatness and all the wonderful things they are doing in the world, and why not let them run it. These elitists detest Donald Trump and his America first message and seem to have been able to enlist the FBI to try to remove him. One gets the impression from reading this book these elitists would like nothing more than to set up Reeducation Camps to get recalcitrant Americans thinking the right way. Perhaps this is what they talk about in private at places like Davos and Jackson hole, I don’t know. It is the right thing to do. Immigrants are a net positive. Building a wall is anti-American. Allowing immigrants in ultimately strengthens America. All the studies show the first generation costs are offset by the productivity of second and third generations. Immigrants produce jobs for native-born Americans. It is win-win-win.

Well, when the GOP retains both houses, as the polls are moving towards, not only will the Anti-Trump activity slow down, and the investigation of the DNC crowd get into gear, and the wall will be built and the border controlled. Drugs curtailed, cartels put back into Mexico, illegal immigration slowed, immigrant trains stopped. Illegal voting halted as states clamp down on illegal documentation. The US starts trying to reset itself to the predominant European culture that made it what it is, and not a third world country like its heading towards now.

Well, when the GOP retains both houses, as the polls are moving towards… –JohnAZ

An average of 11 Conservative, Independent, Liberal Polls Show the Democrats are leading by +7.2

Every poll except Rasmussen (which shows a tie) indicates you are wrong, JohnAZ.

I know you don’t believe the polls. But you should. Especially when I am presenting an average of 11 polls from different political perspectives. Besides, you should believe the polls because every single poll in 2016 indicated Trump could become president. Every. Single. Poll. And they were all right.

        • JohnAZ October 17, 2018 at 12:10 am #

Then why did I and everyone else expect Trump to be beaten early in the evening, why did all the Liberal press cry their eyes out when their expectations did not match the results. Every pundit, including Fox, gave the election to HRC prior to that fateful night, and why, because the polls said so. It was wonderful to see all the Democratic oriented polls proven wrong.

I will not address this again until after the midterms where I will be satisfied by the results or absolutely crushed by the gullibility of the American people to vote in a majority of a party of traitorous anarchists.

      >>> Immigrants are a net positive.

Well if that’s the case, janet, then how can we justify taking these economic dynamos away from their poor native homelands?! We would be doing the third world a great disservice stripping them of these valuable assets. Let these immigrants go home to enrich their own countries of origin.

      • janet October 16, 2018 at 11:30 pm #

Because I believe in freedom. You apparently do not. You want to use the government to force people to leave. You want to decide what is a service, what is a disservice, what is “stripping” them, what is good for their home countries, where they should live, etc. instead of letting them freely decide where they want to live.

You don’t respect human freedom of movement. I do. I respect the decision the immigrants make… and the sacrifices they make. I respect that they have decided to make those sacrifices for the United States, not for their home country.

So far it has worked out really well for the United States. I want the immigrants to stay and make America stronger, but only if that is their own decision. I believe people should make their own decisions. I don’t believe in using government to force people into decisions about reproductive health or where they choose to live. I admire people whose desire to be an American is so strong that they illegally cross our border. I want those people to stay here. They are brave and strong and strengthen America.

I am a bit concerned that we are getting fewer and fewer immigrants. The foreign-born share of the U.S. population has returned to its late-19th-century level. By increasing the number of workers in the labor force, immigrants enhance the productive capacity of the U.S. economy. One estimate suggests that the total annual contribution of foreign-born workers is roughly $2 TRILLION DOLLARS, or about 10 percent of annual GDP.

Across the educational categories, the foreign-born population has a slightly more-positive fiscal impact in nearly every category. For the foreign-born population as a whole, per capita expenditure on cash welfare assistance, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP; formerly known as the Food Stamp Program), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security are all LOWER than for native-born individuals, even when restricting the comparison to age- and income-eligible individuals.

I posted a link more than once on this, malthuss, which pointed out that only 6% of acid attacks involved an Asian perpetrator.

Even sick things like acid attacks are prone to fads and copycat activity, a bit like school shootings.

You heart is in the right place. The people, refugees coming to the US are the ones that that are financed or can afford the trip. These people leaving leave a talent gap behind that makes their countries even poorer and less able to deal. I.e. A third world country. So what is the limit to the number of immigrants, legal or illegal, that it will take to turn the US into a third world country. Trump will fight this trend with all his ability. If the Libs win either house in Nov., we are one more step closer to third world status. Guess who is out there delightedly rubbing their hands together.

The Liberal movement in the US is financed from outside the US. Think George Soros et al, if Finca is right, think HRC. Think about this, we went to war against people trying to create a new world order called the Third Reich. We whooped them. Guess what, they are still here, chipping away at us and have found a way to beat us at our own game. They have utilized the Liberal Democratic Party to authorize so many illegal immigrants, legal too, that the Browning of America has advanced to the point that our own political system is allowing them to take over. How? With the vote. Europe is outnumbered! China, the ME and Latin America are taking over the US. Watch the midterms, the US has progressed well since the 2016 election, yet we are talking about the Liberals taking the House back. Are we just plain stupid or outnumbered? George Soros may profit from his short on the US economy after all. If he does, the US is heading down and fast. Conservatives, if you do not come out and vote, you will doom us all. Even then, if the wall is not built, and immigration continues, the result is inevitable. Remember what Soros, or whoever, is financing, Antifa, all the protests, the immigrant trains, the DNC, the Liberal MSM, Hollywood. They are destroying America from within, which means if they win, it is us that will do it. We shall see in November.

I feel like we are being invaded by the axis powers in WW2 by them just keeping sending more and more Germans, Italians and Japanese through our porous border. Until they use the Constitution to take over with the vote. As liberal as FDR was, he would never have given away his country to foreign invaders like Bush, Clinton, Bush and Obama have done. The fact that it has happened says that there is a sickness in this country that may be fatal.

One really scary thought is that the Libs do not have a plan. What form will the NSUSA take? That is the Not So United States of America. The Left does not have a clue. They will destroy what now exists and chaos will ensue because they do not have a clue. Georgie Porgie and his crew will be chortling as they survey their gift. Russia will be the next target. At least Putin has recognized what is going on and has thrown the SOBs out of Russia. Hungary too.

        >>> Because I believe in freedom. You apparently do not.

Your idea of “freedom” is that a leech has a right to suck blood out of its host. Your idea of “freedom” is that human parasites have a right to violate our laws. You’re wrong on both accounts.

You’re desperately trying to argue that the ends justify the means, but if the ends are as you claim, then the third world needs these engines of commerce to jump start their own failing economies. And all your ends-based arguments and talk of “workers in the labor force” dehumanizes these immigrants. You claim you care about them, but you only want to use them as cheap labor and to increase Democratic votes.

If you truly cared about their “freedom”, then you would argue that the USA needs to invade these banana republics, depose the morons running things, and impose our superior cultural values so that immigrants can return and rejoin their families.

“Let these immigrants go home to enrich their own countries of origin.” –Exscotticus

Yes, let them… if that is there own choice. Do not use government programs or government police/border patrol/military to arrest and deport them against their will. Respect their choice of what country they want to live in. Let them go home, if that is their choice. Let them stay here, if that is their choice. Don’t threaten them or withhold services or discriminate or deport them. Welcome them as neighbors and help them, but only if they want to be helped. Live and let live. Stop interfering in other people’s lives against their will.

    Restaurant Apocalypse in San Marino

In 1988, I spent several days in the fortress of Guaita in San Marino, in the oldest prison of the oldest state in Europe. In the mornings I swept the ancient pavements of this ancient city, and the afternoon I spent in conversations with four local jailers, I must say very friendly and handsome.

In addition, I, from a height of an approximate one and a half thousand meters, enjoyed the wondrous beauty of the view from the balcony of my cell, which the above-mentioned jailers defiantly and systematically forgot to close.

After I left the USSR, these were probably the happiest days in my life, and I still regret that I was not given a life sentence in San Marino. Unfortunately, the smuggling charges of “Russian military watches” – as you could understand completely groundless – in any case they did not pull more than a fine and 15 days on jail.

On the other hand, I must admit that in Italy welfare allowance was sorely insufficient even for the most elementary survival, and I did not have a permission to work, and one of the few ways to make some money (that is, to literally survive) was to buy the aforementioned “Russian military watches” from the newly arrived dwellers of the Russian refugee camp and their resale in San Marino, where they cost almost twice as much as Rome.

The price depended on the picture on the dial and in San Marino reached 100 mili-lira (about $80) for the general’s and admiral’s watches without a picture and $35 for I don’t remember which ones, but with the submarine painted on the dial.

Later it turned out that the most profitable trade was the sale of Soviet-made professional frying pans made from special food steel into Germany, the price of which reached 500 deutsche marks, while in the USSR they cost 30 rubles.

The newly arrived refugees from the USSR, having received them from my Moscow friends, were glad to give me these pans for $10. Unfortunately, they too often thought that these pans were made of gold and constantly strove to drill them in several places with hardened-steel drills, but in the end I realized that it was necessary to give them these pans at the airport and I finally arranged a regular supplies of pans to Italy, or rather to Germany.

It was after these that I thought about how justified the rumors about the total inefficiency of the Soviet economy were.

    Restaurant Apocalypse in San Marino

And I want to share the myths and legends of the most ancient republic of Europe – the Republic of San Marino, which I had heard plenty of from my jailers and a cook in a restaurant where my guards and I would drop by for breakfast and drink limoncello after the morning sweeping of the streets.

In this small semi-basement restaurant, the interior of which, frankly speaking, did not shine with European design, and also with sterility, only local people were hanging out, and tourists appeared very rarely. But the owner turned out to be a classmate of one of the jailers and the brother of the owner of that souvenir shop, in which I, not knowing that they were watching me, so unsuccessfully, or rather, so successfully entered the moment when the shop owner was looking at his collection “Russian military watches.”

My jailer, the owner of the restaurant, his brother and the Russian-speaking cook, knew each other from childhood and were crazy patriots of San Marino, knew by heart its history, legends and every stone in the city walls.

They told me a lot during these breakfasts, stressing how their grandfathers and fathers hid Garibaldi and at the height of the Cold War created the first communist government in Western Europe. And, as far as I understood, the father of the cook was a member of this government and his son studied in Moscow – clearly not only in cooking.

I will start from the beginning, that is, from the information of the guidebook (or, if you like, Wikipedia), since the presence of officials in the face of my guards still influenced freedom of speech and the most interesting conversation took place only when I went to say goodbye to them after I was kicked out of prison.

The city of San Marino was founded by Saint Marin, who fled from Dalmatia from the emperor Diocletian, who declared Christianity to be a crime. He founded in the mountains a Christian commune, which became an independent polis, whose citizens chose him as sovereign. In this capacity, he survived the Diocletian’s executions, the reign of Constantine the Great Equal Apostolic, who equated Christianity with other religions, Constantia, in which the Church fell into the heresy of Arianism, as well as Julian the Apostate, who returned not only the persecution of Christians, but also exiled by Arian Nicanese bishops.

He lived to see the Orthodox emperors Jovian and Valentinian, who restored Konstantin’s equality to Christianity and, according to legend, on his deathbed uttered the mysterious phrase Relinquo vos liberos ab utroque homine, “I leave you free from both men”, which historians still do not get tired trying to interpret.

All the same, this is the promise of the founder of the first Christian state to future citizens of the state he founded, which remains uncontradicted, despite all the historical turmoil. Later, in addition to this legend, I learned that at the same time he blessed the son of a Roman military leader and the future first Orthodox emperor Theodosius to the military service.

A young man a year later played an important role in suppressing the Great Conspiracy of the pagans and Arians of Europe (originally the great conspiracy of the Satanists of Europe), and then, becoming the last Emperor of the united Roman Empire, made Christianity the state religion of this Empire.

Yes, it was from a cook in San Marino, who allegedly went to hear how a stray emigrant tells all sorts of stories about the USSR, I first learned that It was Theodosius I, not Constantine the Great, Equal to the Apostles who made Christianity the state religion of the Empire.

    Restaurant Apocalypse in San Marino

Yeah, I must say a warm company has gathered there, comparable only with the Pushkin House or the professorship of the Washington Square. Only once a black cat slipped between us when I boasted about how I talked to John Paul II, quite by chance finding myself at the right moment in the Russian cultural center in Rome on a tip from an Italian Jew whose family had escaped from Dachau in San Marino.

I remember how they exchanged glances among themselves when they heard this story, and suddenly, everyone immediately started to gather up, began to clap themselves on their pockets and looked at their watches.

But as subsequent events showed, this was exactly what played a decisive role in the fact that they decided to help me, and the amount of material assistance slightly exceeded the cost of the confiscated by the Police collection of Russian military watches. And the cook, having learned that I was still going to the US, clicked his tongue and slips me something like a letter of recommendation to the Lanza restaurant. And I, fool, not understanding whom I was dealing with, and, alas! I took advantage of this letter too late, when it was impossible to change anything in my American life.

I thought for a long time what exactly affected our relationship. Most likely, initially they were just interested in a man from Russia who knew a lot of Moscow rumors about Gorbachev, the new “Sight” TV program, joint ventures, the widespread restoration of churches and Yeltsin’s support by the army. They, unlike me, saw the place of the USSR in the world and understood that its disintegration was inevitable and what I was telling obviously somehow lay down well on their thoughts about their homeland and themselves.

Their Homeland, because the citizens of San Marino feel their city is the center of European history, and not just history, but the History of Christian Europe, that is, as it now became crystal clear, the founders of the European Union had planned to destroy from the very start.

    Restaurant Apocalypse in San Marino

It was a time when entire Italy was boiling after the “ex cathedra” declaration by John Paul II that Christian Europe had lost its iconography, that is, Christian art.

And the first thing that I saw on St. Peter’s Square is the huge icon of Savior by Andrey Rublev, covering the entire gable end of Michelangelo’s architectural masterpiece.

The cold in Italy in winter is a special cold, it pierces to the bone, and we fully experienced it, having spent a couple of nights in summer houses of the camp site, turned into a camp for refugees.

And the mountain San Marino in this sense is Italy times ten. And one morning, brutally cold, but sunny and snowy in the morning, I and my jailer fairly froze in the street, and I was waving a broom, and his uniform did not allow such physical exercises.

And when we finally found ourselves in a restaurant, he allowed himself a glass of hot wine at the expense of the government, followed by a couple of glasses of something stronger and polished it all with a glass of lemoncello.

In general, we were three hours late on this day, we even had to call the jail so that they wouldn’t suspect a foul play. And my overly merry jailer, with jokes told how he went to look at the results of the “restoration” of the Sistine Chapel, and the chef, who I think was the main guy in this company, became gloomy and rather tough, if not rudely, put him back into his place. Despite the fact that his father was the head of the communist government of San Marino.

Along the way, it turned out that the restaurant’s owner’s brother also carefully monitored the destruction of the Sistine Chapel and traveled to Rome more than once. And he, too, was more impressed by this gable, and the poster covering it, urging the Romans to visit the exhibition of Russian icon painting in the Vatican Museum. And after I told him that before my eyes they began to build scaffolding for the “restoration” of another symbol of Christian Europe, Michelangelo’s “Last Judgment”, he became noticeably upset and even began filthy swearing that was not usual for him.

Anyway, they clearly overestimated my ability to understand the truly fundamental truths that were told to me on the day that I came to say goodbye to them and to San Marino.

Or maybe it was providential, who knows, but this very esoteric club of patriots of the most ancient Christian state in the world, which I considered to be just a company of former classmates, after all the questions were settled, invited me to dinner.

And over a glass of chianti, the taste and especially the aftertaste of which I still remember, they told me that the famous and mysterious words of Saint Marin on his deathbed: ” I leave you free from both men” means not at all what scientists think. “Both men” is not the emperors of the Eastern and Western empires and is not even secular and spiritual power in the spirit of the contest of investiture.

Saint Marin, as the inspirer of the creation of a single Christian Empire, certainly foresaw that it would survive only three years, but these three years will become the blueprint that will determine the history of mankind during the course of three great Indictions. The curious minds and those who know how to count can find the date of creation of this Empire and independently calculate that according to St. Marin these three Indictions ended in 1991.

And the conversation took place in early March 1988 and I must say that I did not understand anything then, although I nodded my head with a clever look. Moreover, I did not understand anything in August of 1991. Well, I could not then imagine that the Soviet Union was created using the blueprint of the Christian Empire, although the first year in the USA had already opened my eyes to many things.

And I also remember how he looked several times around in an absolutely empty hall of his own restaurant, told me in a whisper that Saint Marin, speaking of “that man” from whom the citizens of San Marino would remain free, spoke of the Antichrist, but “the other man” in his will “Relinquo vos liberos ab utroque homine” is a high-ranking Roman officer who organized the Great Conspiracy of the Satanists of Europe, uniting the Celtic pagans, German barbarians, followers of the civil Roman religions, including Mithrianism, Arian-Visigoth intellectuals of the Plato Academy in their desire to prevent the formation of the Christian Roman Empire.

He also said that the Great Conspiracy of Satanists has not gone away, and that this particular conspiracy is the two-horned dragon of the Apocalypse, and that this officer still has three specially selected and trained successors who live like ordinary people among ordinary people, never meeting each other and other members of the conspiracy, but ready in one day to take over the name of this officer and the leadership of his order.

And he said that according to the will of St. Marin, San Marino until the end of history will remain independent and the only place on earth where the successors of this officer, who are behind all the most terrible and without exaggeration, infernal regimes of the planet, cannot set their foot.

    • FincaInTheMountains October 17, 2018 at 2:34 pm #

Only the news of the failure of another attempt to include San Marino in another state, this time in the European Union, which frankly proclaimed anti-Christianity as its state religion, made me take up the Internet quill and tell this strange story.

    Climate change…local weather…anecdotal evidence of AGW….

    Ladies and Germs,

    Consider the following;

The way the air moves affects the weather, because winds move heat and cold temperatures as well as moisture from one place to another, transporting conditions from one geographical zone to another. The way winds pass each other, and the direction they move, also affects what weather a region will see on any given day.

    Simple concept, yes?

The Second law of Thermodynamics portends that energy can neither be created nor destroyed.

    Who would argue with this?

Wind generating turbines provided for 89 Gigawatts of energy in the US in 2016…considering losses in efficiency, probably removed well over 120 Gigawatts of energy from the wind…probably much more

It stands to reason that the winds downrange from the turbines would be of less strength.

If you accept that winds are the carriers of weather, the weather downrange might…change.

Who has quantified this? Are there any viable studies of environmental impact, other than wildlife killed? Or noise pollution?

Uncountable trillions of joules of energy removed from wind could possibly change an area’s weather…providing many anecdotal accounts of climate change.

Then the thing to do is strategically place turbines to reinforce positive climatic outcomes. Such as weather patterns engendered by the golf stream.

      Cuts into profits of course.

“Quit the tenuous post hoc nonsense…”

Sorry, but I do not understand that statement as applied to my post

“Barely sustainable after the fact nonsense?”.

          • K-Dog October 17, 2018 at 8:54 pm #

post hoc – after this or after the event.. A logical fallacy is to link unrelated events which are linked only in time as one causing the other.

In the case of thinking that wind turbines produce effects which mimic Anthromorphic Climate Change effects you are taking a temporal link and assuming one causes the other without any proof.

Fact is the disturbance caused by a single turbine can be quantified and multiplied by the number of turbines in the world to show that any effects produced by turbines would be orders of magnitude below any observed changes.

“Fact is the disturbance caused by a single turbine can be quantified and multiplied by the number of turbines in the world to show that any effects produced by turbines would be orders of magnitude below any observed changes.”

Good premise, someone should do that. Without any study, it is merely supposition.

I did not state that there would be a link to AGW, but rather it might be a (currently) unknown variable in that very complex equation.

Only a logical fallacy if I form an opinion and apply it as causal…just like Co2 concentrations are applied to an argument.

Another consideration of downwind perturbation might be lesser wind velocity affecting insect hatches.

            You know…

    • The absorption (or conversion) of energy in a wind turbine, from the actual movement of air molecules, occurs across the face of the blade.

Considering the significant mass of moving air in a given column of air, I doubt there would be any significant effect on “downstream” wind energy content.

There are small local vortexes of air behind a wind turbine, just like the wings of a plane. This is probably the best visual example of the disorder (entropy) generated, and would not be significantly different from a tree.

In fact, if you took global deforestation as one example of a negative impact and compared it to displacement of wind turbine blades, I am certain without even looking at the studies that it would be negligible.

GE’s new turbines are something like 100 meters high. At that altitude, wind speeds many times the speed at ground level.

      • elysianfield October 17, 2018 at 6:56 pm #

It sounds like you are versed in the field. Thank you for the reply. I would only suggest that the energy removed was not addressed directly.

Considering the significant mass of the air…. Well, how then can we quantify any change in wind velocity in respect to downwind issues? Is the argument that there is so much energy present, that the loss is statistically insignificant?

Sort of like the Buffalo covering the plains in the mid 1800’s? Never can it possibly be otherwise?

Deforestation… I moved to Josephine County in 1972…the weather was relatively wet and cool in the summers…rain regularly. The old “saw” was that Oregonians don’t tan…they rust”. There were seven lumber mills in the county then, large ones. With the over-logging in the area, the Western hills (actually small mountains) became denuded, and replaced by scrub. They were replanted, but recovery is very slow there. The temperature began to rise, rain stopped falling in the summer. Now, Grants Pass has weeks of triple digit temperatures…weeks at a time. This is anecdotal, but I was there to see it.

Who is to say what is significant in the loss of even a fraction of a mile per hour when it comes to one’s regional climate?

Uncounted Trillions of joules…Billions of watts…millions of horsepower lost is insignificant?

        • “Well, how then can we quantify any change in wind velocity in respect to downwind issues?”

Straightforwardly. Reduce the force on the blades from newtons to joules and divide by the motor output in joules. A joule (or watt) isn’t that much- its the amount of energy to raise one cubic centimeter of water at standard pressures and temperatures 1 degree C. All the wind turbines in the world take an infinitesimal amount of the total energy in the atmosphere.

I don’t think downwind issues would be significant from the perspective of energy balance. A column of air’s mass is so large that the infinitesimal amount that pushes the blade makes little difference on overall energy in the system, even in terms of the large energy output (as electricity, heat or motion).

Like a twig placed in a river, no reasonable number of such occurrences will have much effect on the river.

Your local heating is probably being caused by a nuclear bomb’s worth of heat absorbed by darkened Earth surface area, accumulating every second, last I heard.

As the ice melts, so does the drink get warmer… which melts more ice, etc. We might have to deploy some sort of aerial sunblock- however I have heard no good ideas. Every so-called solution is just pollution- like the inverted EPA we have- the solution is more pollution… drink the kool aid… reflective high-altitude nanoparticles. Not a solution to rising CO2, either- artificial air pollution- on the insoluble ocean acidification problem. Carbon-based energy economy has to get dismantled. A double pronged approach- economic and social. Economic- with carbon credits, taxes, carrots and sticks, that sort of thing. Social, with education and training, but also, a social program of decarbonization. Germany did it. I don’t know how- they were of one mind to do so, and that helps.

10,000 years ago, where I sit, I would be under thousands of feet of ice. I don’t know about you but I’ll take a little heat over 2000 feet of ice. Screw the coast! People should not live there, Especially in their 750K beach homes right on the sand. Whine about hurricanes, please. Really, I don’t have much sympathy for them. Where JHK lives the ice was probably more like 5000 feet thick. Sure it took a long time for the ice to form. That’s why we call it climate change. Check this out, No British Islands, No boot of Italy,

Elysian, fascinating question. I read a bunch of times that you don’t see tornadoes form near big cities because tall buildings disrupt airflows necessary to form a funnel cloud. Or something like that. If there’s anything to this, it seems that relatively minor looking barriers can thwart such massively powerful, towering storms.

So maybe the idea that wind turbines as relatively small obstacles really can affect downwind climate isn’t crazy. Where did you get this? Did you think this up yourself?

I read that the hurricanes and all those tropical storms are the means of transferring energy from tropical regions where it’s hot northwards to where it’s cold.

Just my observation. I have never heard of anyone discussing this topic, nor have I found any relevant studies. I have personally questioned physicists regarding this, and their answers were dismissive.

The point is brought up to illustrate just how complex climate study is, and how many unknown variables might be present.

Who among us believed in the “Butterfly Effect”?

A flap of a butterfly’s wing can cause a hurricane, but a million horsepower loss of wind energy is not significant?

A loss of energy is a loss of energy.

At $3.00 a copy, I would rather get my news in the form of an executive summary from you, thereby saving almost $100 per month that I can spend on cheap hookers and PBR…the rest I will piss away….

      • You didn’t have to say “cheap” hookers and PBR by saying “$100 per month”…

The NYT can be resold, at a discount, usually. Just look for the man on the street- with that discombobulated look from having scrolled through too many cock-eyed “Special reports”
