Yes, they may try to do away with cash. But those who will try are unaware of System D, a worldwide system of informal, unregistered trade that exists among billions of people, and almost all transactions are in cash. Any attempt to do away with their medium of exchange will result in mass revolt.

When Italy went over to the Euro, banning the Lira, the Mafia kept TONS of Lira. They still use it among themselves. Totally off the books.

      Fuck all government.

All I can say after listening to this is Wow, Holy Shit, I am so glad that I am not alone. Thank you Jim!

Yeah. Exactly. Listening to these two is like walking in off the streets of Crazyville into a little pub where the whiskey is mellow and the talk is sane. I could to listen to them for hours.

Interesting…precious metals won’t save the world, however. They’re finite. Until we understand that infinite growth can’t go on forever in a finite world, we are toast.

Whoa Doug The Atheist Casey, what’s this about earth being a prison planet where we are punished for something or other we did?

You’re treading on the grounds of faith mister. Best be careful.

I think They are consciously trying to kill the US Dollar. That is a big part of the move to digital dollars. They are running a slow crisis until Boom! a sudden big fast crisis will give Them the excuse to force the switch.

Of course, They will choose the time for the final crisis.

If there is any kind of justice They will all hang. But fat chance.

Really liked the comments about the building hatred of Western Civilzation.

I noted this phenomenon among the liberal arts faculty and students at the large, liberal public university I attended in the mid-to-late ’90s.

Hi Jim…you do a fine job of finding interesting people to interview … people I’ve never heard of before. Thanks for the effort.

Doug Casey states the obvious truth regarding the longevity of automobiles. Autoworkers should be grateful that we all buy cars repeatedly without any necessity to do so — and should be prepared for the day when we all discover what a waste of money it is.

In 2009 the government decided we were stupid and should keep buying 15 million cars or more a year instead of only 9 million. So they offered “cash-for-clunkers” which subsidized Americans to buy fuel-efficient cars and supported the autoworkers (of Korea and Japan).

Now with auto sales down 20% I don’t hear the government telling us to buy more cars. Warning to families dependent on auto sales for their livelihood!

If I’m not wrong, Doug Casey served as inspiration for the Stephen Bullock character of the World Made by Hand novels. This was actually my impression while listening to the podcast.

Doug Casey and his anarcho-capitalism reminds me of the late 60’s Playboy article by Karl Hess in which he discusses the failures of both the Right and the Left and argues for libertarianism. My dominant recollection was a quip-(he was an excellent writer as speechwriter for Barry Goldwater) where he remarked that Liberals think everyone else is Stupid and Conservatives think everyone else is Lazy. They both like the show of power –everyone watching them as they “Act”- a trenchant remark made later by Karl Rove….

Karl Hess dropped out and became a IRS tax resister as a welder working for barter in the 70’s.

New listener here, I just had to log in to say something since Casey defended his position so poorly.

Anarcho-capitalism is in no way opposed to hierarchy. It only supports voluntary hierarchy based on merit rather than the forced hierarchy of the worst people which we get through the state. It is in fact very opposed to egalitarianism.
