Hallelujahs echoed across the Blue Media late last week when the news broke that Donald Trump tested positive for coronavirus. For four years the president had foiled every ambuscade set along his path by a morally-inflamed, predatory Resistance, and each time he beep-beeped his way around the trap. But, now, with a little help from a pitiless universe, they had him! A gazillion tiny, viral assassins were stealing through his bloodstream like so many microscopic jihadis, primping him for an agonizing death: his alveoli withering, red corpuscles robbed of their vital O2, pink foam issuing from his nostrils, toes and fingers turning blue-green — and most deliciously of all, he’d remain conscious of his imminent defeat, of the life (which he’d never deserved in the first place) draining by degrees from his wicked, orange, bloated, supine carcass…

Except… wait a minute… what the hell…? How could it be! Late Sunday he somehow arose from his bed-of-death, ordered pizza (with meat!) for a thousand imps and demons camped outside Walter Reed Hospital, and walked under his own power (!) into a limousine to take a ride around the block and wave at his unholy minions! The cheek of this man!

CNN had a whack attack. Brian Stelter was beside himself, hinting that sinister forces had punked the network, and all the other righteous Resistance cadres, and that Mr. Trump could be endangering every federal employee down to the enlisted men posted overseas by venturing from his sickroom. The New York Times went farther afield (of course), declaring that “the murky and shifting narrative of his illness was rewritten again with grim new details.” Nicely put by an outfit that has come to specialize in shifting narratives!

And indeed, the new Resistance narrative demands to know just exactly when did the president start to feel ill? Did he, perhaps on-purpose, haul his ailing, hulking, scheming Golem ass into the Cleveland debate venue with the hope of infecting his rival, delicate Ol’ White Joe Biden? Did he recklessly put at risk the White House staff, dignitaries and luminaries coming and going, their family members, associates, underlings, servants, children? Did he threaten the global order, world peace, the fate of humanity?

So now, a keening wail of lamentation rings out across the land at Mr. Trump’s possible, dastardly recovery. How dare he! — to paraphrase Saint Greta Thunberg. 209,000 other Americans died, and not him! What vile and unholy devices got him out of a sure death sentence? No doubt Democratic Party astrologasters and consulting augurers will be searching for clues among the orbiting planets and the spilled organs of sacrificed chickens in the days to come. Perhaps Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) can snare a few of the president’s attending physicians into his House Intel Committee and rev up another impeachment for going against doctors’ orders. Wouldn’t that be a delectable counter to the looming confirmation process for Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s replacement next door in the Senate this month?

Over his dead body, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is hinting — a tantalizing prospect, with Covid-19 on the loose. It was Chuck who memorably told Rachel Maddow of MSNBC in 2017 that the Deep State “has six ways from [sic] Sunday at getting back at you.” By my count, they’re well over their allotted six by now. Not only did they all fail, but the seditionists behind them are liable to wind up behind bars before this is all over, perhaps even a few of Senator Schumer’s colleagues.

Anyway, Majority Leader McConnell isn’t buying Mr. Schumer’s sob story. “The Senate’s floor schedule will not interrupt the thorough, fair and historically supported confirmation process,” McConnell said on Saturday. The hearings are pegged to begin on October 12. Prediction: they will run three days, tops, and the nominee will sail through. No doubt Senator Schumer and company will be combing the legislative rules thickets with their Lawfare bush-beaters in search of some recondite, magic by-law that might prevent the deal from going down. Or else Chuck will threaten to shoot a puppy on the floor of the Senate if the Amy Coney Barrett hearing proceeds.

The news has it this morning that the president might check out of Walter Reed later today. The event is loaded to the brim with portentous metaphor, mainly, that Mr. Trump has overcome yet another adversity, specifically one that the Resistance has been using to scare the public into compliance with economy-wrecking rules. As the president re-enters something like normal life in the days ahead, perhaps the rest of America will rethink the abnormalities of 2020. Perhaps they will notice the Democratic Party’s investment in the Covid-19 lockdown narrative, and what it has done to their livelihoods, their families, and their futures. Maybe watching Mr. Trump get through this, they will see a way out of the woods.

    Maybe, but probly not.

They’re probably in need of a new Press Secretary, JHK. You’ve more than demonstrated your undivided loyalty and support. Goforit. Got Vaseline? Kneepads?

I agree... Will that ever change? Probably not.

The deep blue media will surely see the errors of their ways and now report the real news; Trump’s operation Warp Speed may have saved himself by accelerating the clearance for polyclonal antibody treatments. After that, sweetness and light will return.

“What vile and unholy devices got him out of a sure death sentence? No doubt Democratic Party astrologasters and consulting augurers will be searching for clues among the orbiting planets and the spilled organs of sacrificed chickens in the days to come.”

LOOL!! Another great one James! It’s true, the Dems convulse like they were possessed by demons. Trump lies (though not so much anymore), behaves badly, is the very spitting image of a narcissistic patriarchal privileged white male, and yet the whole nation adores him, loves him, forgives him for all his flaws and foibles! The Dems put on a show of crusading for the downtrodden and oppressed and yet everyone hates them! They are rather like Cain in the Cain and Abel story. God will accept Abel’s sacrifice but not Cain’s. Why? Maybe the “spilled organs of sacrificed chickens” will tell them.

    • Hands4u October 5, 2020 at 3:58 pm #

Of course it’s another “resurrection” three days at the foot of death and he has arisen to lead us into the holy land of MAGA Trump!

“The whole nation”? I don’t think so. If that were the case, surely the GOP internal polls should show close to 100% support. Clearly, that’s not the case. From The Hill, & Saagar Enjeti

“A growing number of Secret Service agents have been concerned about the president’s seeming indifference to the health risks they face when traveling with him in public, and a few reacted with outrage to the trip, asking how Trump’s desire to be seen outside of his hospital suite justified the jeopardy to agents protecting the president. The president’s coronavirus diagnosis has already brought new scrutiny to his lax approach to social distancing, as public health officials scramble to trace those he may have exposed at large in-person events.”

    https://www.chron.com/news/article/Secret-Service-agents-doctors-aghast-at-Trump-s-15620934.php

JHK doesn’t give a shit about men and women sworn to serve the president and their country either.

Go to Walter Reed and suck Trump’s cock Jim. You fucking old stupid delusional man.

CC — That’s the kind scurrilous rant that will get you kicked off CFN, and so I will do that… but not before pointing out that the Secret Service must be around Trump one way or another, in a room, or in a car, so your point is a silly one.

    • Lawfish October 5, 2020 at 10:28 am #

Those secret service agents have to be near Mr. Trump anyway. What difference does it make if they’re in his hospital room or his limo?

      • hmuller October 6, 2020 at 10:34 pm #

We’re talking about Secret Service agents catching a case of the flu – worst case scenario. Amazing how some hysterics characterize covid like it’s the bubonic plague on steroids.

CC, you deserve to be banned for such obscene sexual insults. And by the way, genius, JHK can’t do what you said. Trump is no longer in Walter Reed. So there!

        Bizarre.

        • Sredni Vashtar October 5, 2020 at 1:59 pm #

Yeah, wtf? Covid is really turning people inside out, revealing their vulnerabilities. He’s projecting his own fear onto to an elite corps who are willing to take a bullet for the POTUS. I’ll take a wild guess and assume they were fine with taking Mr Trump for a ride, with him wearing a mask as well as them.

If that’s the case, we taxpayers certainly aren’t getting our money’s worth. CC has no literary flair, certainly no wit, no gift for language. He should go back to slandering Trump to corpulent cat ladies on Facebook.

    • Kim October 5, 2020 at 10:48 am #

      @ cc rider

I doubt that men as young and fit as SS agents are much worried about a flu that couldn’t knock over an overweight 74 year old.

But on the other hand Trump does also appear to have remarkable stamina.

I wonder how frail, 78 year old Joe would have handled a dose of the rona?

Given all of this, I can’t see how the MSM and Biden can win by continuing to draw attention to Trump’s robust health and apparently continuing unstoppable energy. The man is a force of nature.

      • malthuss October 5, 2020 at 10:53 am #

Biden has weird bumps on his temples. People have noticed them and have researched what they can of his history of illness.

        he looks very feeble.

      • Sredni Vashtar October 5, 2020 at 2:01 pm #

One time I tuned into his show, The Apprentice. He told one of the candidates that he had a great physique. And then he said, So do I. Apparently that was no bluster, but just the simple truth.

    • Ron Anselmo October 5, 2020 at 10:54 am #

      Hey CC,

The China virus is no more consequential than the flu dumbass. Any and all responses to date, more than would be appropriate for the flu, are bullshit. Go back & hide in your living room, and peek out the blinds. Oh, and don’t forget to keep your mask on, pussy.

      • darrell dullnig October 5, 2020 at 12:36 pm #

Exactly, Ron; the masses, including those on this blog are following the script to the letter. The more we focus on the virus or anyone associated with it, the less we see of the sleight of hand being done right in front of our faces. The virus is the perfect non-issue; riveting nonsense.

It’s the economy, the economy, the economy! It is disintegrating; the global reset is the banker’s program to introduce a grand jubilee to escape culpability for their massive theft of the world’s assets. Everyone’s debts will be forgiven, but of course, they keep the assets.

The more one focuses on the virus and the upcoming election, the less one recognizes the major flow of the current carrying all out to sea.

        • Ron Anselmo October 5, 2020 at 1:46 pm #

          Amen Darrell, very well put.

I believe the risks of flying, driving with any POTUS have a higher risk of death than any COVID. Any SS agent that is afraid of COVID is not fit for duty. They are prepared to die for any POTUS.

You obviously don’t give a shit about any normal hard working American who works for a shut down business that has been destroyed by this farce. You don’t give a shit about any American child that is suffering trauma daily by being kept from a maskless normal.

Live your life with SANS PEUR!!

    • Captain Swing October 5, 2020 at 4:58 pm #

cc rider – While your language was disrespectful, your point was well made.
Yes, of course Secret Service agents are sworn to protect the President, at close quarters – But that doesn’t mean the President has no responsibility to the men and women who perform this duty. To take a self indulgent joy ride under these circumstances should tell anyone with half a brain every thing they to know about why he unfit for doing anything other the spending his dad’s money on questionable business deals. Hey Mr Kunstler – If that’s how much he cares about the folks who would literally stand in front of an assassin’s bullet for him, how much do you think he cares about you, or anyone who wears one of his stupid hats?
Joe Biden may not be setting the bar all that high, and may have some questionable dealings of his own to explain, but he would represent a vast improvement on this clown… and he has at least chosen a Running Mate who I believe would make a fine President.

      • eatabanker October 5, 2020 at 5:19 pm #

A morally and ethically fit opposition is a vital necessity to a the well being of a democracy. A self-serving opposition with RICO as a role model has no chance of improving a situation.

Ad hominem disparaging always, always reduces the value of the speaker more than the object of contempt. But hopefully, that’s not the best punch you’ve got.

But please enlighten us. What has Ms Harris done that qualifies her
for next in line behind a candidate with evident health issues? Please list her merits and achievements rather than merely contrast them to VP Pence. All candidates are valid topics for dialogue.

Ms Harris will gladly service her Globalist Masters the way she serviced Willie Brown. A woman who never polled above 2% in the primary race has no constituency. So she works “for thems that pays her”. Sleepy, demented Joe has always played ball with the dark side. No chance he’ll fight to save our constitutional rights or American values.

We can hope that the way out of the woods that people see includes re-electing the president. The alternative is unthinkable.

However, given that foul alternative, a Biden presidency, we should launch our own Resistance. Turnabout is fair play, after all.

Really does not matter who wins at this point.

The country continues to spiral out of control and needs a giant enima.

Maybe at least if T wins we can buy ammo again. We will need it.

Even the posters here seem farther from reality with each of JHK’s thoughtful posts. Imagine how far the average American and other residents of this world wander from it?

Time to go grey. Can’t let it bother me anymore. To infuriating to bother with.

    • SoftStarLight October 5, 2020 at 10:42 am #

Oh ok. So what are the realities that everyone seems to be missing? While you are going grey there will be many who will be happy to fill the vacuum. It sounds like your viewpoint is sort of the standard Western dead man walking viewpoint of giving up and relinquishing everything. Oh well. There will be people very happy to pick up the pieces for themselves and carry on. Of course in the way they see fit. Which may actually please you even less than the current infuriating circumstances.

      • toktomi October 5, 2020 at 1:06 pm #

        @SoftStarLight

Apparently, you believe that somewhere in the masses there is a hint of a conscious ability to influence the machinations of a spun-out industrial human society.

        Wow!

I won’t bother with the overwhelming evidence of the fallacy of such a notion. However, I would ask rhetorically, what arrogance of wisdom and right would it require for someone to believe that they should have the ability to affect the circumstances of the rest of the humanity?

        ~toktomi~

        • Doug October 5, 2020 at 5:07 pm #

          Full on Nihilism toktomi.

Nihilism is a lack of a faith. And a lack of a faith is a very real problem with The Left and therefore our Nation. They denigrate people of faith while they don’t have a good answer. Instead, they dangerously put all their faith in “man” and man’s institutions — which lead to inevitable disappointment and even disaster. Look at China, like any communist country, it wants to stamp out any religious faith and substitute faith in “man” and his institutions (the Communist party collective). It leads to disaster every time and no change is allowed!! If you don’t like it, tough.

Lack of faith is what makes Leftists fundamentally haters, not lovers. They aren’t happy people. They tend to be angry, frustrated, sometimes hysterical or cynical busy-bodies who want to control YOUR life because they think that they know best. They are cynical and pessimistic–even Malthusian. Cynicism and unhappiness are the fruits of a lack of faith.

          Ring any bell Toktomi??

        • eatabanker October 6, 2020 at 5:17 am #

How about applying your astoundingly stupid question to such personalities as Buddha, Muhammed, Edison, Mao, Marx, Einstein, Newton,Shakespeare, Gutenberg, Ford, Galilieo, James Cook, Tesla, Columbus, Pythagoras, Socrates, Plato, Moses, Cortez, Sun Tzu, Confucius, Lao Tzu, Curie, Hitler, Napoleon, Gandhi, Freud, Shankar Adi Shankara, Darwin, DaVinci, Jesus, Jacob Rothschild, even the likes Lewis Carroll, Timothy Leary, Bob Dylan, Walt Disney, on and on…

All these people influenced humanity’s course indelibly and single-handedly. They most certainly did not regard themselves and everyone else ontologically as insignificant, pointless and helpless.

And your “spun-out industrial society’, whatever that means,
is merely a brief chapter in the individual and social evolution of our species.

    • Kim October 5, 2020 at 11:06 am #

      @ fugeguy

The country is certainly spiraling out if control. The whole world is – not just the USA, have you glanced at Nicaragua and Mexico lately? – but some places just have further to fall. It’s the end of cheap energy.

So things will be bad for everyone who can’t feed himself. That means almost everyone.

The next step is going to be handing out free money to all the people who lost their jobs and small businesses or can’t pay their mortgages bcs of the rona.

The effect of that? Inflation maybe. More dependency and despair, certainly.

People need a purpose in life, not just cash in hand. Ted Kuczinsky described the most psychically important of these as the activities we must engage in to satisfy our basic needs. Cash in hand does not satisfy that need. And in an impoverished world we cannot afford to indulge ourselves with what he called “surrogate activities” to give meaning to our lives. These are things like politics, hobbies, careers, sports, etc.

Maybe when things get really tough we will find meaning in war, fighting, and stealing to survive.

Many men find that in the conditions of war life has a stronger, deeper meaning for them. This is really very common. Maybe it will happen like this for you, too.

      • toktomi October 5, 2020 at 1:15 pm #

        @Kim

Spoiler Alert – Few among the species has been able to “feed himself” since the advent of industrialization. Machines do virtually all of the work. Industrial society is an energy welfare for state for nearly all.

This is not rocket science esoterica. But it often seems so to listen to the arrogance of common utterances.

        I could be wrong.

        ~toktomi~

Enema. Don’t intend to be pedantic. When I first read it I saw “enigma.”

That morphed to the thought we had enough enigmata, and who knows, another might be an enigma too far.

    found this at UNZ.com

Yet another innocent White woman has been brutally murdered by a remorseless Black in suburban Maryland, but take heart!

Across the river in suburban Virginia, the Catholic Diocese of Arlington knows the real problem is white racism and is taking action to combat it. Gee, how lucky we are! /sarc

Recently I read that government-imposed lockdowns and restrictions on church attendance are likely to result in the closure of 20% of the nation’s churches within the next 18 months. Given the BS coming out of churches these days, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Arlington’s Catholic leader asks advisory panel for ‘action plan’ to address racism
    https://wtop.com/arlington/2020/10/northern-va-catholics-battling-racism/

    Excerpt:
Catholics across Virginia are being called on to confront racism in their communities.

The Catholic Diocese of Arlington has established a 14-member council to advise Bishop Michael Burbidge on racism and look for “actionable” ways to right the wrong of systemic racism and promote the wellbeing of all people.

It is a weird story. The suspect, 26 years old, shot the girl, 20 year old, when he shot (indiscriminately?) into the house, possibly to kill the 15 year old brother.

Meanwhile, yesterday Chicago hit 3100 shootings for the year so far. That’s just in one city!

Yet neither yet another black-on-white killing nor the endemic black-on-black killings get national coverage.

But conspiracies (of silence) aren’t real, you know.

      • Daddyotis October 5, 2020 at 2:32 pm #

It’s the inanimate guns in that city, Kim. They fire themselves, indiscriminately killing (mostly black) innocents.

If we’d all just listed to the sage advice of Beto & Uncle Joe: get rid of the guns, and the problems are solved.

Then they go to the blade, which is what happened in London and New Haven.

Another tactic is to set your antagonist’s house on fire — at night when everyone in it is sleeping. That strategy seems to have been imported from South of the Border, way south.

Well, in this town, the historic Congregational Church on the Green, c1640, proudly displays a massive BLM sign on the lawn, and flies a multi colored Gay Nation flag just underneath the American flag.

Apparently they’re down for it all.

The Catholic Church just down the street has its Nativity scene out front, that’s all.

The steroid treatment is what pumped up Trump so he could go out greeting his followers. It will be scary to see what Trump becomes with the steroid treatment.
See the 1956 film “Bigger Than Life” with James Mason. He is a normal person who is treated with steroids for a medical condition. However, he turns into a murderous, ego-maniac. He becomes what Trump is now. So Trump on steroids will become Double-Trump. Scary, indeed!

    • Kim October 5, 2020 at 11:08 am #

On the medical theme, any news about treatments for Trump Derangement Syndrome?

      • abbybwood October 5, 2020 at 12:13 pm #

There is only one treatment for TDS.

Trump has to be taken out of power and a Democrat (preferably putting a woman like Hillary or Harris in charge) has to sit in the Oval Office and must quickly reverse all the horrible programs Trump signed into law.

Pretend like Hillary won and that the last four years was just one big, bad dream. Throw in a nice hot war for the MIC and poof!…….TDS gone!

    • SpeedyBB October 8, 2020 at 10:56 am #

      That’s intriguing, mdhendler.

Perhaps it explains the [corporate media-reported] alarm in the WH about the slew of tweets and threats made (“…make China pay for this disease…” – maybe using some of those trillions in Uncle Sam Treasury Bonds to make payment?)

I would not be too surprised to see the man taken aside and told what’s what, the way he must have heard it from our colorful Sicilian brethren when he opened those casinos in [mobbed-up] New Jersey. At the end of each meeting he was able to walk out of the room under his own power so he knows when to knuckle under.

With the right squad of heavies paying a late-night visit he might just quiet down a bit – but the muy mala medicina he is on could just take control and keep him squawking until firmer action is taken to exert a calming influence.

I have been keeping an eye on these actors since the 1950s and this is maybe the second prez (after LBJ, who was going off the rails in the mid-1960s) to scare his own team so badly. Or should I include Tricky Dicky in there too?

Homeland Security and the FBI are the ones teddyboy46. When they are not sucking on Trump, that is the tit Jim and his minions suck from. Not the CIA . If you find out any specific details as I did then perhaps the CIA might get into the act of harassing you, but the CIA works outside US borders. But since a harassment team uses an ‘it takes a village approach’ unless things have changed, there could be CIA agent or two involved. When I was gang-stalked a TSA agent participated. He went to high school with someone I know which is how I found out. Sometimes it is indeed a small world.

If Trump’s kiss ass lying doctors knew the van was hermetically sealed then they are in violation of their oaths. “Primum non nocere” which translates to “first, do no harm”. It would be impossible not to contract covid in a sealed van.

Garcetti is such a weak, spineless tool facing the mob. He will kiss their boots, swear his allegiance and swear he is a repentant White supremacist who is unworthy to even look them in the eye when he speaks.

Garcett’s new Bible is the book “White Fragility” that is being carried by all the wokesters on college campuses. He is Soros’ BITCH now $$$$ (political whore as well).

From what I’ve understood, Trump and all the people around him are tested daily for the virus so obviously they caught it early. And he had the best medical treatment available — if you get it, don’t wait for the helicopter to wisk you off to a top medical center. Though he’s 74 and overweight, he doesn’t have respiratory problems, diabetes or heart disease so his chances going down were greatly reduced already. Just like they are for most people.

The UK has gone even crazier lately — no more than 6 family members can gather at one time even though public transportation, restaurants and many businesses are open. There goes Christmas! Parliament is now demanding the right to vote on lockdowns and transparency on these decisions that effect everyone.

The hairless ape society, aka humanity, is really acting like excitable, poo-flinging monkeys. Everybody is at each other’s throats. Seems to me that all this conflict is a reaction to stress, as people either consciously or unconsciously are realizing this is the beginning of the end of our way of life.

Instead of fighting and blaming, isn’t it time to stick together to try to deal with our civilizational issues? Isn’t it time to stop being the hairless ape, and grow up to become what nature intended us to be – Homo sapiens sapiens?

There are no solutions to the current state of industrial human society and its impending new order.
The only possible “solutions” are personal, mostly for some few tens of thousands of apical elite plus their domestic staff so to speak.

Again, not rocket science; the logical dots are all there if ya have a spare decade or two to research the subject and to connect the dots.

There’s one interesting theory that once a Society is successful and prosperous, defeating all eternal enemies, it has to tear itself apart because many only find meaning in conflict and having an enemy. We need the other, do we not? To create the “us” and maintain group solidarity. If everybody is “us” then there is no us in other words.

The size and scope of Societies has become too great for the emotional resources of the average man. For some team sports meets this need. But for the Liberals it does not. They want actual conflict not just symbolic.

The drift towards hollowness began with Starlight’s nonsensical comments a year-or-two ago, and I see that he/she’s now slipped back in, after a brief hiatus. It used to be rich with commenters, i.e., Walter B, Green Alba, Paolo, Ol’ Scratch, K-Dog, intelligent, thoughtful, and I miss them. Now, it’s empty and teaches nothing, it’s loyal posters a toxic club. How JHK let this happen baffles me.

        @abbywood

Could you restate all of that without using that ancient illusory language relic, “truth”?

From “Toktomi’s Dictionary of Mistreated Terms”:
truth | that which is indisputable; a weapon used by some to influence or control the opinions of others; delusional self-assuredness

I have yet to encounter in my life any notion that is without a shred of disputability.

I completely agree with any notion that truth must be intensely sought interminably but not with the baseless fantasy of ever being able to discover it.

The door is here -> Knowledge, truth, reality is an illusion.

        It matters not what is
For what is cannot be discerned.
It matters only what we believe
For what we believe is all that we have learned.

        or not; fuck it

There’s speculative philosophy, and then there’s life. The judicial system cannot function without the concept of truth – be it real or a human construct. Same thing with human free will and responsibility for crime. “I didn’t want to commit the crime, your honor. But chemical reactions in my brain made it inevitable”

A functioning society can’t dwell too deeply in metaphysical possibilities.

Thank you finuch. But I can’t help watching this in progress train wreck. Old habits die hard and I was here from the beginning. Many years and many thousands of comments ago.

Today I had to see what JHK would do with this hot Trump mess. JHK did not do well with it, but to be fair it would be damn hard to put lipstick on this pig. It appears Trump lost what little mind he had.

The are many makes of cars, they are not all the same, even though all cars, etc. They do not all have the same features, get the same mileage, have the same lifespan, etc. And some are “smarter” than others, others faster than others.

I’ve been reading this blog for a quite some time, and s/he has a point about the current level of invective aimed at anyone who doesn’t hold with the Trumpism narrative, and as a result, many of those more moderate posters seem to have disappeared in recent months.

That’s regardless of whether such a commenter has any truck with the “insane, vicious and knavish” behaviour you inveigle against so stridently in this very post. Your hyperbole aside, holding one position does not, necessarily, mean the other is also operative.

And the backdrop to all the luncay, abstract as it may appear, is still Peak Oil, the resulting civilization collapse, and the attendant crumbling financial edifice which made it all possible.

    • beantownbill. October 5, 2020 at 12:20 pm #

Yes, that is the crux, along with overpopulation.

      • SouthernYankee October 5, 2020 at 12:23 pm #

Actually Bill you’re right it’s both Peak Oil and overpopulation. I stand corrected.

      • Amman October 5, 2020 at 12:37 pm #

Over-population is a hoax. The whole world can fit into Switzerland.

        • beantownbill. October 5, 2020 at 1:01 pm #

Actually, the whole world could live in a cube two miles on a side.

Living space is not the criterion for overpopulation. Food production ( based on factors such as arable soil, and availability of petroleum-based fertilizers), clean water and air quality, climate change, ocean pollution, and difficult to describe psychological effects due to overcrowding (rats in a social-crowding experiment began appearing overly aggressive).

Saying overpopulation is a hoax is not an accurate statement, IMO.

  18. Sean Coleman October 5, 2020 at 12:16 pm #

    Great article.

I overheard RTE, Ireland’s state broadcaster, over the weekend state that Trump’s medical team were very optimistic but that an “unnamed source” “very close tot he President” was gravely concerned. I just laughed at it. They are clutching at straws.

I also saw a clip on YT where the Scottish reporter (for Sky News) was picking at the way the White House had changed the account of his illness from 48 hours and 72 hours to two and three days. It was suspected that they were being deliberately vague to conceal the possibility that Trump had attended public gatherings in the knowledge that he was ill. 48 hours is just a daft way of saying two days; you never hear anyone say 47 or 49 hours. I think the term is spurious accuracy.

It is on a level with the NYT’s and the WaPo’s puerile lists of the President’s Lies.

Wait. The narrative messed up livelihoods, families, and futures? I thought it was a real virus doing what real viruses do… which is effing sh*t up.

Meanwhile it’s unlikely the average American will have access to the kinds of miracle drugs and wonder workers that Trump has had to help him find his way back out of the dark woods that he helped create and put himself in.

Exactly right. No one is hoping the worst for the President. He will very likely pull through. Based on mortality statistics in his age group, he has a 19 in 20 chance without even accounting for the level of healthcare he generously paid $750 for or the fact that he is white.

But that he created a spread that endangers others is reckless and arrogant. Sorry who was I talking about anyway? Surprise. Now Chris Christie his Corpulenceness should be quite worried.

As most of you who follow this blog are well aware we are entering a period of worldwide historical turbulence. The question is how will we as individuals respond to this turbulence? Digging a hole in the ground and crawling into it simply will not work. We can, after all, stockpile only so many cans of beans. There is only one viable alternative. We must bring more consciousness into our lives. Consciousness is energy. The more conscious (awake) we are the more energy we will have to find creative solutions to the challenges which lie before us.

There’s a reason medical protocols exist — that’s because they usually work — so that’s why you should follow them. But Trump laughed at people wearing masks, made fun of them, demanded other people remove their masks, called them losers and suckers (oh excuse me that was what Trump called military people). So ZERO sympathy for Trump. He did this to himself. What irks me is all the other people who exposed — waiters, maids, butlers, secretaries, file clerks, etc. All the people who work at the White House and have no choice (other than quit and lose their pensions).

Lots of people are convinced that this is the “October Surprise” and that Trump is FAKING being sick. So then he can get magically better from the pharmaceutical companies he has invested in. So maybe he’s sick, maybe not. One thing is certain — Trump is desperate to win the election. If he loses, he might buy some time causing unrest in major cities by refusing to step down but that’s temporary. His future is either jail or spending the rest of his remaining life in Moscow. Wonder which it will be?

“Hallelujahs echoed across the Blue Media late last week when the news broke that Donald Trump tested positive for coronavirus… Except… wait a minute… he somehow arose from his bed-of-death…”
    .
Trump is one of those (lucky? crafty? sneaky?) people who have a way of turning everything that happens to them to their advantage. So following a pitiful and angry debate performance and the news that he doesn’t pay hardly any taxes, the fates are commanded to quickly turn all that mess around get everyone’s eyes off in another more compassionate direction.

We already know that Trump is either, a) the Last Savior of the American Way of Life, or b) The Worst Person In The World. But we may not have known what an escape artist he was until now. Just when you think you’ve got him…

Much has been made of his adopted last name, Trump. But we also know the root meaning of the word, as in Trump Card. The trump card is the one that outranks all others, or the condition of having a decisive advantage. Donald Trump seems to be the living embodiment of a Trump Card, taking rule over everything that tries to come at him whether it be angry cable personality or a virus that answers to no one. The trump card rules so long as one possesses it. No other card… or person… or group of people… can prevail over it.

“As the president re-enters something like normal life in the days ahead, perhaps the rest of America will rethink the abnormalities of 2020… Maybe watching Mr. Trump get through this, they will see a way out of the woods.”

Or maybe they will see Trump as having privilege and power and access to things not available to American Commoners and so the people become even more despondent. Americans see rich people getting richer and small business owners locking their doors and joining unemployment lines. They see their children sitting through fake learning on a box with dancing pixels and football games played before cardboard cutouts with fake faces on them during a sea of social messaging interrupted by the occasional pass play. Americans see fake all around them, and then return to look at their own life struggles that are very real with no one offering them such extraordinary potions or prayers to make it through to another day.

    • Sredni Vashtar October 5, 2020 at 2:46 pm #

Trump is against the lockdown and the destruction of small businesses that it is causing. Ditto your beloved rioting.

Sorry to pop your balloon of eloquent nonsense.

      • Goldy89 October 5, 2020 at 3:00 pm #

What lockdown. We’re not locked down here in Michigan anymore, yet a virus has reduced demand spectacularly. Far worse than being locked down with PPP, is being open with demand a fraction of pre-Covid levels. Small businesses are dropping like flies. That is what a more nuanced thinker would understand, and address accordingly. We are more than likely entering a depression at this point. America just doesn’t know it yet. And Democrats and Republicans will have very few solid options without huge bailouts and eventual repricing of debt.

Just think: A Covid Virus he expelled has your name on it and is making its way towards you even now. You can run but you can’t hide. Your mask won’t stop it. It will just sit on the outside until the hear of your breath dries the droplet. Then it’s coming in.

      • tucsonspur October 5, 2020 at 4:23 pm #

You know that I don’t run and that I don’t hide. But I won’t join the suicide squad, the destroyers of life. Life is worth living even with a little inconvenience.

      • GreenAlba October 6, 2020 at 7:30 am #

“It will just sit on the outside until the hear of your breath dries the droplet. Then it’s coming in.”

Your memory is not good. You seem to have forgotten we established that, when the droplet dries, the virus dies. It cannot live on its own. It has needs, just like us. 🙂

Actually the heat of your breath is likely to be less potent than the moisture of your breath, but since you weren’t serious anyway, it hardly matters. Especially since a virus is not a SAM at distances well beyond 2 metres.

        • Sredni Vashtar October 6, 2020 at 12:10 pm #

I did not forget. It dies – immediately? No interim? No period of gasping “for breath”, only perhaps to be saved by the bell of Tusc’s in breath or his moist outbreaths?

You lack imagination. That’s fatal in science. How else does one come up with questions and hypothesises (I know you’re going to torpedo me on the plural here but don’t lose focus) to investigate?

As Blake said, God us keep, from Single Vision and Newton’s sleep.

          • GreenAlba October 6, 2020 at 12:35 pm #

“It dies – immediately? No interim? No period of gasping “for breath”” […]

If it’s gasping for breath, it’s not dead. I merely said it died. If you want to know the process, ask a virologist. There seem to be states of ‘live’, ‘live-ish but pretty inactive’ and ‘dead’ (and possibly others), but I’m not the person to ask and invention (or imagination as you call it) is completely pointless and inappropriate when others already know more than I do on the matter from actual observation.

So the rest of your post is pointless. And mine was mostly tongue in cheek anyway, but your usual lack of humour shines through.

Old Persian saying, Never trust a man who never laughs or who never stops laughing. I’m in the middle, perhaps to the right of you though.

“Thank for admitting you don’t know. That is the first step towards knowledge.”

Yeah … because it’s a really significant step saying you don’t know about something there’s absolutely no reason for you to know.

Next time you’re on Google, look up ‘hyperbole’.

          • Sredni Vashtar October 6, 2020 at 11:49 pm #

Yeah we’ve only been talking about this for the last six months or so. Who would expect you to know anything about it? Not me!

          • GreenAlba October 7, 2020 at 6:32 am #

I know a tiny amount of what is widely available to read by anyone if you search under particular terms (plus a tiny percentage more because I worked in medical publishing for 20 years). Hence, the last time you asked what happened to the virus when the droplets dried I looked it up and discovered that they died, because a virus needs host cells.

If you wanted further research into how they died and whether they lay on their backs with their little legs in the air, gasping for breath and seeing their whole past life roll by before them, you could have looked it up.

I’m not a substitute for your own effort – I just take the trouble to find things out for myself a little more than you do. And I probably understand some of it a little better. That should not make you presumptuous. A little grateful might be appropriate – as you seem to know because you occasionally say thank you, which I appreciate.

          • Sredni Vashtar October 7, 2020 at 12:44 pm #

A water droplet is not a cell. We have been talking apples and oranges as per “mediums”. You still don’t understand the issue I brought up.

          • GreenAlba October 7, 2020 at 3:02 pm #

“A water droplet is not a cell.”

It’s not a ‘water droplet’. It’s what you spat out your mouth, not a flippin’ raindrop.

Good thing he has access to the exceptional medical care provided by Walter Reed hospital, even after paying a mere $750 in federal income taxes. Good thing the rest of us taxpayers are here to cover the bill, Donald! Get well soon!

I began stocking up on supplies and food this morning. Not crazily but just so I don’t run out of anything in November. I’m expecting mayhem and curfews again in Hollywood around election time. Maybe nothing will happen. A lady in front of me told the checker that stores are starting to sell out of items for some reason. I scared both the checker and customer when I commented that people are anticipating more riots and curfews. Both of them seemed blissfully unaware that anything might happen next month.

At my Whole Foods, if you go anytime after 2 or 3 pm, you’re liable to be unable to get many things. It seems they re-stock every am, and when an item runs out, they don’t replace it until the next day even if they have it in stock. This has been their policy since Bezos took over.

I piss off some of the staff because we make our own pizza, and sometimes they run out of the dough we like. If that happens, we make them run into the back room and pull out what they really have left.

        • beantownbill. October 5, 2020 at 7:43 pm #

‘Blissfully unaware’ will turn to shocking fear relatively soon, I believe. Hope I’m wrong. I’ve noticed Whole Foods has dropped several items they regularly carry. Please continue to stock up as much as you can.

  39. tucsonspur October 5, 2020 at 5:42 pm #

We all know that Trump’s policies have resulted in a large number of unnecessary illnesses and death. Here’s what else they will bring:

    1. A Harris-Biden presidency.

    2. A resurgence of PC, but in a more virulent form

    3. An increasingly firm grip on universities by the Left, and wokesters
    waking you the fuck up.

    4. A huge growth in critical race theory classes.

    5. A fizzle of a resistance by Republicans, who have just illustrated
how weak and ineffective they are against aggressive Democrats.
Currently, Barr will self quarantine, Durham will probably duck and
    dive.

    6. All questionable monuments will be under review for demolition,
including the Lincoln Memorial and the great Washington obelisk.

    7. The political power of the squad will grow and many more will
    join their ranks.

    8. The wonderful, capable, illegal immigrants will be given amnesty
and be allowed to contribute their knowledge and vast array of
skills to help our nation grow.

    9. You will be allowed to pay for the health care of illegals, and if
you’re not happy with that, you can also pay for their education.

    10. BLM and Antifa entrenching themselves, growing and
emboldening themselves in order to fight white hate and
    oppression.

Now if you don’t like the above scenario, you had better beat the
bushes to turn out every Republican to vote that you can.
You’re gonna need millions of ’em. Now the TWATS probably
    outnumber the independents.

    • beantownbill. October 5, 2020 at 7:35 pm #

Better yet, try to get anyone to vote for Trump.

BTW, I drove by an adjoining neighborhood yesterday, and on someone’s front lawn was a sign that said “I’m a Republican voting for Biden”. Massachusetts is filled with non-thinking dipshits. Makes little difference as Biden will carry the state anyway.

It’s very easy to get discouraged when you constantly walk through a miasma of stupidity. But I’m feeling ok. I just don’t like having to deal with it daily; but I suppose everyone has to. Just hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

It’s said that we could hit 350-375 thousand dead by January.
With many states still out of control with increasing numbers, and depending on the effectiveness of the vaccine and the strength of a second wave, we will be getting closer and closer to the numbers reached during the Spanish flu, 600,000 plus.

We may even pass that. After all, America is the greatest country in the world, isn’t it?

    Gentlemen;

Many of you are under the impression that trigger-happy PO-liiiiice shoots only struggling, oppressed, disadvantaged African-Americans residing in large cities.

Lets for a change take a look at the quintessential Amish Country-Lancaster,PA.

    BLM riots in Lancaster

    https://thepostmillennial.com/blm-riots-in-lancaster-pa-over-shooting-of-felon-who-tried-to-stab-a-police-officer

If you look at the upper-right photo you’ll see happy 27-year old Amish boy returning home after participating in rewarding,soul-enriching agricultural pursuits.

He is carrying a scythe-yes,a scythe ! – because Amish still care about the environment and till soil with mechanical implements.

He is singing Psalms,he is thinking about good harvest this fall,he is prancing and dancing…

Evil Cop takes aim… Holds his breath…Squeezes the trigger…Another innocent life is lost in the hail of bullets (in Stahlgewittern)

And to add insult to injury Lancaster PD immediately fabricated his criminal record which is piece of cake since all records, true or fake, are computerized.

    AMISH LIVES MATTER !

    • Jo-G October 5, 2020 at 8:56 pm #

When I found myself living in a house with a large yard I tried keeping the grass and weeds down with a scythe. I highly recommend using one. After you learn to use it and care for it it works well. Quiet, so you can mow early Sunday morning and not bother the neighbors. No fumes. I let the grass get a bit long before cutting so the residue creates a better mulch. I got a starter kit at scythesupply.com but there are other places on the internet to order a good one. The scythes in my local hardware store weren’t good enough. It needs to fit your body to get the best angle of attack. It might be a useful skill when the cheap energy runs out.

      • Jo-G October 5, 2020 at 9:01 pm #

I just checked scythesupply.com to see if they’re still in business and they had this on their home page:

“We are incredibly backed up with orders and doing our best to ship yours as quickly as possible.”

Odd. Why would such a niche market be incredibly backed up? I don’t know anyone else who uses one. My friends and neighbors think I’m such an oddball for not using a lawnmower.

John McAfee got arrested again, for tax evasion. He was hiding out in Spain, well, maybe not really hiding out. US Treasurey Dept. and Spanish National Police had no trouble locating him and bringing him in.

He’s an interesting character, been following his ‘career’ for a long time.

He probably got away with a murder he committed in Belize of a neighbor whom he suspected of killing his dog. Note: if you know someone who is reckless with guns (John McAfee, Phil Spector, that Olympic champ in SAfrica who shot his beautiful wife) steer clear.

These tax evasion charges are no doubt with some basis, but I can’t help think the Feds are saying, yes, he got away with killing an American (a bar owner from Orlando), let’s get him on something.

Is it not frightening to witness so many literally begging to go into captivity and subjugation. And yet this is the alleged aristocracy? LOL. The vultures and hyenas are eager to devour what remains of the rotted carcass of your precious and high minded society. What little is holding them back the “super smart” ones of these are chipping away at and they feel so holy and sanctimonious doing so. Beyond our boundaries these high minded ones are not special. They are mere food for the bigger and better predators. Beautiful and ornate words and concepts or decisive action and strength? Who makes sense and who doesn’t?

And you’re gonna beat it. I went, I didn’t feel so good. Two days ago – I could have left two days ago. Two days ago I felt great, like, better than I have in a long time. I said just recently: better than 20 years ago.

Don’t let it dominate. Don’t let it take over your lives. Don’t let that happen. We have the greatest country in the world. We’re going back. We’re going back to work. We’re gonna be out front.

As your leader, I had to do that. I knew there was danger to it, but I had to do it. I stood out front. I led. Nobody that’s a leader would not do what I did. And I know there’s a risk, there’s a danger, but that’s okay. And now I’m better, and maybe I’m immune, I don’t know. But don’t let it dominate your lives. Get out there, be careful.

We have the best medicines in the world. And it all happened very shortly, and they’re all getting approved, and the vaccines are coming momentarily. Thank you very much and Walter Reed, what a group of people. Thank you very much.

Speaking of TDS, this unhinged fellow pulls a knife – unprovoked – on some “Women for Trump” people.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHsmNiNfFC4

He saw them, pulled over in his car, and out of nothing threatened them as you will see.

The perp is a local Democrat PartyCommunications director.

This is 8 or 9 out of 10 on the TDS scale. I believe tha he has been arrested and charged.

One thing that is strange about the encounter is that he seemed to think that what he was doing is not illegal. You can’t brandish a knife while invading someone’s space. That’s a felony. So now he will probably lose his job. He is, of all things, a prison guard at a woman’s prison.

This year, these last four years, have seen so much wierd, loopy behavior from Dems. I believe I have learnt a lot more about humans. And I don’t like it.

      Where is John AZ?
I reached out to him above. I want people to see that video.

      • JohnAZ October 6, 2020 at 12:08 pm #

        Hiya Sophia.

        Watched the video. Two comments

Liberal paranoia. Social media has accentuated this more than any others thing in history. Remember PTA, in person problem solving, where people worked out problems without media shrieking. Also, parent teacher conferences with the same results. Today it is complain on Facebook, bitch at the school district, blame the teachers.and call the lawyers.

Liberal manipulation. Example, 50000 kids in a school district, 10 have health problems with wearing masks. Raise hell about the five, make everyone else change to meet the fives problems. Liberal BS like we witness every day on the campaign trail. In this video, what does this woman want? No masks? Endanger everyone else because of a small minority? The level of endangerment is so small that no masks might be a solution as kids do not get the disease much. But the kids do not live at school, they go home they go outside to play, they infect other folks who are more endangered by the crud. So what does this woman want? What to do?

I do not have a clue, neither does anyone else. Which, through the magic of social media, blows the whole situation sky high. Politics drops in, proclaims a “solution”. Society is stuck with the result.

        My answer? There is none.

        • sophia October 6, 2020 at 9:10 pm #

Well, John, this is how tyranny will take over. The covid will give credibility to it for enough of the population that no matter how naked the tyranny, many people will go along and even applaud it. This is on social media you think? Social media is censoring people who do not go along with the covid narrative.

You are kidding yourself that it is 5 out of 50kK kids and that they must have health problems to have an issue with having their breathing blocked by cloth all day. But it isn’t only kids. Lots of workers are getting headaches and sore throats and this fall and winter, illness will rise as it depresses the immune system and keeps germs in to fester. Wearing masks all day is a new thing, never done before for obvious reasons, and to experiment on children! Our era will be looked back on with great horror for that reason alone.

And you write as if the masks make any damned difference. How can they? The only place I can see masks mattering is in the medium length encounters of a few minutes. Sitting in a class all day will not stop the virus. And by the way, kids who do not get symptoms do not spread the virus. So in other words, the kids are being tortured for nothing.

What to do? Stop the fearmongering agenda which is largely without basis and has no scientific foundations, start listening to the hundreds of doctors in every country who are trying to band together to be heard and stop sacrificing the young.

      SV:

Trump was pumped full of medications and steroids and continuously under the best health care in the world, literally, when he made that statement. His workplace (the West Wing) had become a petri dish in part due to his recklessness.

COVID-19 is a highly communicable disease that can make one severely ill, can result in hospitalization, can leave long-lasting and serious health effects, and can be fatal.

I live in an area with relatively high mask-wearing rates. I go to the supermarket and drugstores, I periodically eat at restaurants and drink coffee at coffee shops (outdoors), and I even go to my office (albeit with reduced onsite staffing). I am able to do these things because, and only because, of the relatively low infection rate and high safety compliance in my area.

I also wear a mask, distance, and avoid indoors as much as possible, in accordance with health guidelines. So far, knock on wood, I (and my family and coworkers) have avoided getting this thing.

What is your beef with all of this? What am I missing?

      • Sredni Vashtar October 6, 2020 at 12:18 pm #

You wear a mask outside in other word – even though no one ever told you people to do that. Virtue signaling. You’re letting your fellow slaves know that you’re one of the good ones too. Not one of those deplorables who deserve Ayers’ gulags (already built).

The Elite like this kind of eagerness, this bringing the leash to them in your mouth. You will get points for this in the Chinese type point system soon to be set up. What’s not to love indeed? Go Half Man!

Why can’t you sign up to the statement that if mitigation lowers the risk level, use it to open the economy back up. This disease is now with us, if we do not adjust our behavior it will take a chunk out of our population every time it raises up. The surge patterns of 2020 PROVE this, stop mitigating, hang out go to the beach, do spring break, populate the bars, ie open up and your area turns into a hot spot.

BTW, a big story regarding Covid this AM. CDC has finally stated that it is airborne capable. Anyone working with isolation patients in a hospital knows what that means, negative air flow with hepa filtration, full garb, and N95 masking. The impact of the CDC statement is enormous. Every HVAC system in the US is suspect.

Airborne transmission may explain the leveling off of all the states new case rates. Originally, Fauci and the boys stated that after the surges the herd immunity would drive the rates to zero. That has not happened. Arizona is leveled out at 500 a day. California at 2800. Where is the reservoir that keeps infecting folks. It is either asymptomatic or pre symptomatic folks spreading the wealth around, people getting re-infected or viral sources in places waiting for people to walk in. Or all the above. The shame of the CDC and the WHO is that they really do not know.

What happens? The politicians step in and screw everything up. Like right now.

Mitigation as a tool to open up the country, where is that solution? Until the vaccine shows up or a cure is in place. Our political environment is preventing both from happening.

Digressing a bit, but I know you’re interested in the development of broad-spectrum anti-virals.

This New Yorker article is very informative regarding the work that’s been done over the years (and decades) and what the problems are, especially with the various types of coronavirus.

            https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2020/04/13/the-quest-for-a-pandemic-pill

Interesting bit near the end about some research to try to work on the mechanisms of the host cells rather than the virus itself, because of the ‘narrow-bore’ effect of anti-virals so far.

          • JohnAZ October 6, 2020 at 1:25 pm #

            SV

Never mind. Anyone who thinks he is a slave because the CDC asks him to wear a protective device to protect himself and others is a little paranoid. If your “way” was in place, health care workers with just peel off their PPE and just get sick, right? After all it is just a minor inconvenience.

            Right!

          • Sredni Vashtar October 6, 2020 at 4:56 pm #

No, even they haven’t demanded people wear masks outside. The slaves volunteered to do that of their own accord.

            John,

First of all, there are cures now.
Second of all, we have done much mitigation which has caused enormous suffering, and yet they do not open up and do not appear to intend to.
Third, this is a corona virus. Do you honestly think the CDC doesn’t know how it spreads?
Why is it that what was obvious 6 months ago to me never becomes obvious to you?

            YOU ARE BEING FOOLED.

          • JohnAZ October 6, 2020 at 10:08 pm #

            Sophia

Your ignorance is showing a little also.

If there were cures available to the public as a whole, this political fiasco would be over. There are no cures for any viruses, HIV, SARS, rhinoviruses, coronaviruses. Cure means, apply and problem is gone. None exist.

I agree with the mitigation complaint. Social distancing is paramount, masks only when it is not possible.. Question for you, is it okay to open up movie theaters or indoor arenas when the possibility of Covid possible folks can enter the indoor venues. Masks are for droplet isolation only, nothing more. The history of this virus though shows that when masks are omitted, hot spots occur. Studies do show that heavier infective doses create more serious disease, so blocking relatively big droplets full of the crud might be a good idea, whether distancing or masks.

Your comment on the CDC cracked me up. The CDC did not admit until TODAY that the virus could be carried airborne. Three components now, contact, droplets and airborne. Fixing the droplet source is easy compared to the airborne component. The WHO and the CDC are so riven with politics that you cannot believe anything they say, up to now maybe. Remember the WHO originally told us the crud was not transmitted human to human.

So right now, clean surfaces regularly, mitigate against droplets and stay away from enclosed poorly ventilated indoor spaces.

The vaccine is coming, the vaccine is coming! Yeah, right. 49% of the folks will not take the vaccine, there goes herd immunity. It is probably seasonal, so now we get flu and corona shots. Certain folks may not build anti-bodies ever. I, for one, had to get the Hep B vaccine for nursing school entry. Tried twice, never built antibodies. One of about 10%, all males, that did not convert. The vaccine, like the flu shot, is not a cure-all.

Who is being fooled here? You have a mirror handy?

          • GreenAlba October 7, 2020 at 6:59 am #

Why is it that what was obvious 6 months ago to me never becomes obvious to you?”

Quick answer to your second question? Dunning Kruger.

Along with JohnAZ, I have to say your ignorance is unbelievable. As if all coronaviruses spread in the same way and the CDC should know in advance how each one spreads as soon as it starts spreading. Most coronaviruses haven’t transmitted at all to humans (in some cases, ‘yet’).

Some which transmit to humans still won’t spread from human to human (similar to the BSE prion).

Some which spread between humans will only transmit from symptomatic individuals – like SARS-Cov-1 (which is what made it easy to contain, although it was deadlier).

Others will transmit from asymptomatic (including presymptomatic) individuals – like SARS-Cov-2.

And you won’t generally know which is going to behave in which way until after a period of observation and deduction.

I wish people who don’t understand things but think they do would be a little less strident.

            But I guess that’s Dunning-Kruger for you.

Imagine anyone who thinks there are ‘cures’ for Covid and who clearly has no idea what that means lecturing other people on having been FOOLED.

The way you harry JohnAZ is appalling. He knows a hundred times more than you do. You even accused him of being a paid troll because you don’t get that he knows more than you do. As you did to me.

Perhaps you really should look in that mirror.

Rolling Stone writer speculates Melania Trump is ‘concealing abuse,’ implicates president in domestic violence

Are you (a) a journalist with (b) a wild theory about Melania Trump’s public absence that (c) is not substantiated by any hard evidence? No worries, all it takes to float your conjecture into the broader conversation is one simple tweet.

Jamil Smith, senior writer at Rolling Stone, used Twitter on Sunday to express his suspicion that the first lady’s public absence “could be about concealing abuse” perpetrated by her husband.

“I wish that I didn’t suspect that the prolonged, poorly explained public absence of Melania Trump could be about concealing abuse. I wish that it was a ludicrous prospect. I wish that the @POTUS wasn’t a man with a history of abusing women, including those to whom he is married,” Smith tweeted.

Which he succeeded in, as the slander was repeated in one form or another in other media.

It is a process similar to how RussiaGate was first fed to the media by FBI agents and then the FBI – seeing these stunning reports in the media – had to “investigate”.

WHO words not mine. Read much?

        • ohyesiam October 6, 2020 at 3:57 pm #

Yes, they are the words quoted in the article. But you don’t seem to understand them.

‘Confirmed cases’ means people who have tested positive for coronavirus.

‘Estimated cases’ refers to the total number of infected people, tested or not.

Having this estimated figure does not change the death rate. It just gives us an estimate of the absolute death rate, as well as the death rate relative to known cases.

The relative death rate depends completely on how much testing is done. The absolute death rate, in theory, should be much more consistent.

If you need me to explain the difference between ‘relative’ and ‘absolute’, please let me know.

It would make more sense if the death rates depended on how many people actually died from it.

Her average lead was a lot less – only about 4% – than Biden’s lead over trump.

Biden must be the weakest Democratic candidate in years. But the rat-faced goon still can’t dent his lead.

This Administration continuously looks utterly surprised at the way this disease is spreading.

I seem to recall quite a bit of confusion regarding “this disease” throughout all levels of society and across different countries. Do you recall when Nancy Pelosi encouraged large public gatherings in San Francisco’s Chinatown back in February, long after covid was in the wild? Remember when the preeminent Dr. Fauci advised against wearing masks? And then there is Sweden! Oh well. Such a myopic focus on one administration seems obsessive and agenda driven (?) given the potential fodder. Makes sense?

Oh btw, NowThis News is a progressive social media focused news organization founded in 2012 according to wikipedia. Apparently founded by Huffington Post co-founder and former chairman Kenneth Lerer and former Huffington Post CEO Eric Hippeau.

          • GreenAlba October 7, 2020 at 3:14 pm #

No, Sredneee, that’s not what he’s doing at all.

But regarding your point about Christianity v. tribal survival, well, that’s just it, I suppose – there’s a dilemma there. Is your aim to get to heaven or to establish a white heaven on earth? Laying up your ideological treasures, so to speak.

Christianity and the interests of any particular tribe aren’t the same thing. You might want both of them, but I don’t think you can meld them into one entity, because sometimes they’re going to conflict. Which is where cherry picking comes in, for pretty much everyone.

Jesus made it a bit confusing because he thought the world was going to end in a couple of decades. so just getting to heaven was enough to be going on with.

Trump tweets “Repeal 230” and the leftists are losing their minds, running disinformation stories about 230, claiming it protects free speech, that without it, there would be no internet, and similar lies.

Section 230 allows media outlets/companies like Facebook and Twitter which regularly select and curate their content and therefore act as publishers – to evade their legal responsibilities under the defamation and other laws by falsely claiming to be merely public bulletin boards without any control over or responsibility for their content.

But Big Tech controls the content. That makes them publishers. As such they must be subject to the same laws as other publishing media outlets.

    Repeal 230.

    • tucsonspur October 6, 2020 at 11:14 pm #

Well, generally speaking, there’s not really too much that’s decent about today’s communications anyway, is there?

The Democrats must have changed their minds. Earlier in the year, both Biden and Sanders spoke out about either abolishing 230 or at least changing it. You know, concerns about so called hate speech and terrorism, probably mostly of the white variety.

I concluded that in his inscrutable mind there is actually no genius master plan other than he wishes to remain totally UNPREDICTABLE and let the chips fall where they may. He’ll worry about ‘the chips’ at some later date.

“Many people every year, sometimes over 100,000, and despite the Vaccine, die from the Flu. ”

Sorry, but you’ll have to divide that by 10, since we have new ways of counting things now. We could call it Newcount. Ninety percent of the people who ‘die of flu’ are over 65.

So you have to use inverted commas, according to Newcount, because they didn’t die of flu. They died of being over 65.

      • GreenAlba October 7, 2020 at 7:55 am #

None of which means I think the prospects of young people and families should be thoughtlessly sacrificed for people who die of being over 65.

I just like words to mean what they’re meant to mean, and I like consistency where it matters, so that we have a shared understanding of what is true and what isn’t.

      • GreenAlba October 7, 2020 at 8:52 am #

And, for information, the CDC figures are 12,000 to 61,000 ‘flu deaths’ annually since 2010.

But that’s in Oldcount. In Newcount that would be 1200 to 6,100 flu deaths, MINUS other ‘flu deaths’ in infants and otherwise vulnerable demographics. Perhaps we could get it down to under 1000 to under 5000?

        https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/index.html#:~:text=While%20the%20impact%20of%20flu,61%2C000%20deaths%20annually%20since%202010.

        • GreenAlba October 7, 2020 at 8:57 am #

And for all we know it could be zero. Nobody died of flu – they all died ‘with flu’ and ‘of’ being human. Yay!

Just had Goebbels on the phone from the other side. He said to tell you he likes this Newcount stuff.

          • SoftStarLight October 7, 2020 at 10:36 am #

Are you sure you got your point across or maybe do you need to elaborate further LOL

          • GreenAlba October 7, 2020 at 10:55 am #

Only you can answer that. Have you got the point or will you keep counting Covid deaths differently from flu deaths?

If the answer is no, then I’ve got my point across. Not that it’s even a point that should require a secondary education, really. In an educated society a 10-year-old would get it.

But I’m willing to bet the trolling about the ‘new’ (Newcount) figures from the WHO will continue to be peddled alongside the Oldcount figures for flu. What do you think?

          • SoftStarLight October 7, 2020 at 11:26 am #

Actually it the supposed experts who are doing the counting. And unfortunately, if the response to covid had not been so politically motivated from the outset perhaps you would have more trust from the general population. However, the entire episode has been a political affair, not to speak of the exercise in bureaucratic double speak and intrigue. We know for certain that deaths unrelated to covid were counted as covid fatalities if covid was present. No matter if the person died in a car accident for instance. Politicians have proven that most mitigation efforts are simply theater. Most importantly, bureaucrats around the world have taken this opportunity to commune with their inner totalitarians. So no, I think if anything the established “experts” have lost further credibility.

          • GreenAlba October 7, 2020 at 12:07 pm #

“Actually it the supposed experts who are doing the counting. ”

I’m talking about on this board, where people bandy about figures for Covid that MUST NOT include old people, and those with comorbidities, and compare them directly with flu figures which include everyone.

You are being disingenuous. And giving me a Gish Gallop response to sidestep the fact that my point is valid.

The flu/covid death stats dichotomy took me two seconds to see through, so I don’t get why it’s not totally obvious, except that levels of innumeracy (and bloviating) are unfortunately high.

          • FreddieMars October 7, 2020 at 7:39 pm #

Among the rest of the weirdly conspiratorial verbiage in there, you have said, I believe correctly that:

We know for certain that deaths unrelated to covid were counted as covid fatalities if covid was present. No matter if the person died in a car accident for instance.

Is that not a function of the utter DYSfunctionality of the American Health Care system where a hospital is funded more generously for a covid case than for a car crash fatality?

But even then, does it not require dishonesty on the part of someone in a chain of command and complicity below that someone? The corruption must run deep.

I’ve been thinking the same thing. Electric and water companies are utilities because everyone needs and uses them (except for the relatively small numbers of off-grid users). In 2020, everybody who can uses the internet and social media. Our whole society is based on these types of everyday usages. They ought to be legal utilities, whatever that means exactly. Utilities conduct their activities under governmental limits because their services have become essential for public welfare, and not to make money for their owners, although they can, I believe, make a profit (not sure).

If they were utilities, Facebook, Twitter, U-Tube, Instagram and others would no longer be able to block content because their owners don’t like the postings. I hate governmental control in general, but given capitalists (and Marxists) predilection for raping the public, an exception could be made in this case.

      https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/06/opinion/us-united-nations-election.html

Yes they do in fact say this. They essay in question makes some interesting and often treasonous arguments.

First it compares Trump to the President of Belarus, currently being heatened with overthrow by a CIA-EU-Soros-Big Pharma color revolution with the support of foreign troops gathered on its borders. The globalists have even declared someone else as the “real” President of Belarus.

That the EU should open the pie-hole in its two-sided face on this issue is absurd, given that it has direct election for neither the European Commission nor the European Council nor for the EU Presidency and that the EU President originates as simply some dogsbody nominated by the undemocratic European Council and has never at any point been subjected to any kind of direct democratic process.

So when the EU lectures you on democracy and especially on its attitude towards national sovereignty – which it despises and disrupts at every opportunity – then you know that one way or another there is another grand bankster fraud in the making.

More practically, the tactic of putting up another candidate and declaring him or her elected from outside the country is a classic globalist stupidity. It is an especially interesting tactic given how the left protested an identical United States attempt to impose Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido as the “real” Present of Venezuela after recent elections there.

      Remember that little joke?

While the CIA/globalists and the trad-Marxist Left are all on the same side, they still very often tread on each other’s toes when they dance. And this is just another example.

As another example, I wonder, was it legitimate when the government of Greece was overthrown and replaced (in 2012?) with a troika of Goldman Sachs economists? What happened to democracy in the EU back then?

The New York Times follows this call to treason by searching out historical situations where people have attempted to justify foreign intervention in the United States.

The author then produces a list of people – mostly black and therefore above either criticism or reproach.

For many Americans — raised to see the United States as the natural leader of the “free world” — it may be hard to imagine requesting foreign intervention against tyranny in our own land. But as historians like Gerald Horne and Carol Anderson have detailed, there’s a long history of Black Americans doing exactly that.

We then get a long list of names – a number of them prominent melanin-enhanced communists – and assertions that can be summed up thus: “Blackety blackety black, black black black blackety black.”

One especially interestng facet of this jewel of woke stupidity is that so many of its quoted heroes

Most of the mentioned high heroes in this piece – which advocates for the government of the United States to be transferred to some number of undemocratic offshore entities – were also at one time or another advocates of the break up of the United States under the cover of black separatism, including, for example W.E.B DuBois, Malcolm X (addressing in particular the NAACP), and Paul Robeson (who as a lifelong Communist would have at various times been in favor both of integration and separation, in accordance with Party dictates).

I too am in favor of black separatism, very much so, either through the recognition of the human right to Freedom of Association or through the creation within the bounds of the continental USA of a new nation, PayForOurselvesia, where black people can live joyously free of white racism and oppression.

Of course we would have to build a big wall around the new nation, to keep the residents safe from the evil whites.

Who would pay for the new wall or fence? Mexico? No, no need for that. I am sure that both white and latin citizens of the USA would be perfectly happy to pay for that wall themselves.

Many would prefer an alternative state – Trumponia – where the Goon-in-Chief can play golf and hold rallies all day long, while his diseased followers rattle their cages and throw faeces at the visitors.

PayForOurselvia sounds great. But let’s start by calling it Wakanda. It will be revealed that Neal Grasse Tyson and other great Black scientists have discovered a new source of energy and that they don’t intend to share it with Whites. It can be accessed via melanin via religious ritual and meditation.

  67. sunburstsoldier October 7, 2020 at 9:47 am #

Gosh. I see everyone here is still engaged in partisanship, believing the other side is bad or evil while they are, of course, the guys with the white hats full of wisdom and sage advice. Do you not tire of listening to yourselves? Do you not realize all of this endless, repetitious back and forth benefits no one? There is only one salient fact to hold in mind as we enter a time of worldwide turbulence, what is needed is more consciousness and not less. Consciousness IS energy, and the more energy we have the better the odds each of us can make a positive contribution to the world’s rebirth. In the end only through heightening or intensifying (increasing) our personal consciousness will real, positive change come.

    • SoftStarLight October 7, 2020 at 10:28 am #

Human nature is fundamentally flawed and fallen. No amount of consciousness heightening can change the inherent state of the soul. It sounds like you are chasing utopia. It’s what humans have been searching for ever since we were removed from Eden. Unfortunately in fact, we have not reached the bottom. As you recall, Christ himself will have to intervene so that humans do not destroy all life on the planet.

      • sunburstsoldier October 7, 2020 at 11:26 am #

        SSL,

Christ will not intervene directly to bring about the world’s rebirth but will work through those souls who recover the light of consciousness within themselves. Your idea that we are ‘fundamentally flawed and fallen’ applies only to the human ego, which is a mind-generated phenomenon and not representative of our true Being.

          Revelations 19: 11-16 (NKJV)

Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

        Yup!

Maybe the God entity, whatever that is, Jesus is just a manifestation of God. God will not interfere with our destruction of Earth, but his Force will reconstruct Gaia. Overpopulation is the route to extinction for all natural history. God gave us intelligence to manage our planet.

We suck at it. We will pay the price.

Here is a thought. The liberal science community want two things right now. One, to prove that life is not unique to Earth. Do this, and rub out God. Two, go to Mars. Yeah, we are so evil that we are going to not allow our God given intelligence to manage ourselves and our world. So go to Mars when the SHTF.

Here is a sobering thought. Something that no one can disprove.

What if it is true that we are a God given species and we are it, no more life planets, we are the center of the sentient universe.

Kinda makes you think about responsibility.

IMHO, there will never be Mars, Man is too evil and anti-God to do his God given task on Earth. God will not need to destroy us, we will do it ourselves by destroying Gaia’s ability to support us.

            Man destroys Man.

          • GreenAlba October 7, 2020 at 3:29 pm #

I’m not religious any more, JohnAZ, as you know, but I don’t know why life on other planets (too far away for us ever to find out about) would mean there was no God, any more than it would mean there was one.

If there were a God, why could there not be other life-supporting planets? There could be anything, almost by definition.

I used to read a whole lot of Christian apologetics when I was younger. I think it was CS Lewis who mentioned a question put to him about aliens visiting from outer space and what this would mean to Christians. He reckoned that it would possibly be the aliens who would should be afraid, as they might be an innocent and not fallen species.

Obviously I’m not qualified to discuss such angels-on-a-pinhead ideas any more, as I just think we’re predatory primates (which theologically translates to ‘fallen’ as a state, rather than an event), but I still don’t see why a theistic universe couldn’t be full of other planets with all sorts of life on them. So I’m not sure why finding life elsewhere in the universe would ‘rub out God’.

I cannot fathom, John AZ, why you think life on other planets means there is not God?
How weak is your belief in God?
If you believe there is a God, then a not-God situation is not possible.

  68. JohnAZ October 7, 2020 at 11:38 am #

Here are some interesting numbers, compliments of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.

Biden’s tax revenues would increase taxes by 4.3 trillion over ten years while Trump’s plans will decrease taxes by 1.7 trillion over the same time. The effect on the deficit would be a rise on Biden’s plans and a decrease on Trump’s.

Biden plan will increase taxes by 3.65 trillion by 2030 by LOW estimates and as high as 6.6 trillion. Details are:

Corporate taxes up from 21% to 28%
15% tax on “book profits”. ( Do not have a clue)
Increase tax from 37% to 39,7% on people making over $400000. (watch how fast that income number drops)
Capital gains tax from 20% to 36.9% for persons over 1 million dollars of income.
    Increase the payroll minimum tax
Charge large banks a financial risk fee ?
Have the IRS crack down on tax evaders. (Haven’t we heard this one before?)

Robin Hood. Steal from the rich and give to the poor.

In the meantime, Trump’s policies are ALL tax cuts.
With his Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, he will cut taxes by a minimum of $1.25 trillion. It will include tax rate cuts to middle incomes, a 15% capital gains rate, capital gains tied to inflation and cutting the minimal marginal income rate from 22 to 15%.

    On the spending side

Biden’s increased taxes will take a bite out of his increased proposed spending, 4.3 trillion out of 11.1 trillion. Two items 1.9 trillion for health care items and 3 trillion for environmental spending lead the list.

Trumps’s spending increases are marginal, including school choice, health care proposals that should actually decrease spending a little, and infrastructure spending of $2 trillion.

Both campaigns want to save money by decreasing Middle East involvement.

“The CRFB gets its high end claims from the American Enterprise Institute, Penn Wharton Budget Model, Tax Foundation and Tax Policy center. The low end estimates come from the Biden campaign”. The estimate also exclude impact from the Coronavirus.

This article shows how deep the delusion of the American people has been driven in. Are you kidding me? A man who wants to steal this much money from the American people is 16% ahead of the tax cutter in charge. Trump’s history is cutting, not increasing.

The “gimmes” May be in charge. Electing Biden will drop the emphasis on income creativity and put it on buy your vote, giveaway programs that have succeeded in putting him ahead. America is finished if Biden wins, the debt will be called in by all the retired and retiring folks to pay for the impact of the increased taxes. Corporations will react by reversing their course and moving offshore. Capital gains increases will knock the hell out of stock and bond based 401s and pension plans.

It is, it seems, the Dems are trying to destroy the independence of the average American and make him/her more dependent on the government.

They wouldn’t do that would they?

    • SoftStarLight October 7, 2020 at 11:42 am #

“Robin Hood. Steal from the rich and give to the poor.”

Now that is funny John lol! Biden will definitely not be giving to the poor. He will be committed to making more or all of the middle class poor. That is the goal. Destroy the middle so that the very few very powerful and wealthy completely rule over and totally control the huge mass of the poor in all aspects of existence. Just like the covid lockdowns, all of this is meant to destroy as you say the independent average middle class American.

      • JohnAZ October 7, 2020 at 11:59 am #

And all orchestrated by folks outside the US. And elected by Americans. We are our own worst enemy.

The Poor, there is no such thing. Just a bunch of indulged people who do not want to work and have everything handed to them.

Covid reaction by the Left, lockdowns, are incorrect and yes will work to destroy the income makers. Intelligent Covid reaction, mitigation in the workplace, will decrease the impact of the spread as everything opens up.

The same people that are continuing the spread, 20 to 45, responsible for 60% of the spread, are the same that are electing the Dems into power. Hmmm! Stupidification at its finest.

          EF

C’mon. Look at the state level and local level Blue territories. Do you believe for one second that they care about the income producing middle class. All they want is control and power. California and New York are currently perfect examples. The Blue contingent dared the wealthy to do something when they taxed the hell out of them, like Biden wants to do now. Now, people are leaving both areas in droves. And the Blues are mad, “How dare you”. Hahahahahaha!

I watched a state representative from California tell Tucker that the goal was to tax the middle class until they leave and can be replaced by illegal immigrants. Consider that the Blues want power period. They do not care about the people at all.

Unintended, baloney. 100% intentional! But you are right, unfortunate!

          • Sredni Vashtar October 7, 2020 at 1:07 pm #

Well he E was talking about Biden specifically. I’m not sure he’s ever had an original thought in his life – though Trump did say he came up with using the Logan Act to get General Flynn. So he may have that kind of low cunning.

          • elysianfield October 7, 2020 at 7:41 pm #

            John,
Well, we both can agree on the fact that politicians want to remain firmly attached to the umbilical that is the power and status of office. However, that would usually be accomplished by keeping your electorate fat, happy sated, and relatively insentient. Overt drama usually means that elected officials bear the brunt of the animus of the electorate…to openly poke your constituents with a stick seems…counter intuitive.

To keep the electorate happy is an old recipe for success…

    • FreddieMars October 8, 2020 at 8:42 pm #

      JohnAZ:

“Trump’s history is cutting [taxes], not increasing.

In the only significant tax reform Mr Trump introduced, in 2017, saw the doubling of the Standard Deduction. This was the main directly noticeable change for the 90% of income earners and did a good job of simplifying the system, in that a myriad of previously deductible expenses were eliminated.

However, the net result for the ‘middle class’ (those around the median income of $70,000) has been a net tax reduction of only 1%, while the top 10% have seen a reduction in excess of 3%, and this while income growth between the 10% & the 90% continues to expand, exacerbating the ‘income & wealth inequality gap’.

      https://www.cbsnews.com/news/two-years-after-trumps-tax-reform-the-middle-class-is-struggling/

In the meantime, Government-funding for many social services – which services extend right up, through the proverbial ‘middle class’ – is shrinking and this further adds to the embedded inequality.

At the other end of the scale, the top 10% are enjoying income growth at a rate twice as fast, with lower headline tax rates, but still with the ability to purchase high-end tax accountants & lawyers to further minimize their contribution.

You often refer to the “gimme” class. Could you possibly define that in more detail, please? I know you’re an intelligent and thinking person, so I’m assuming you don’t just mean welfare recipients.

I’ve read a few books by David Cay Johnston (recommended by some poster on here if I recall). He examines just how easily and callously the very rich exploit the tax system and actually could be just as well described as the ‘gimme’ crowd because they take insane amounts of taxpayer money OUT of government – at local, state & federal level.
He’s a conservative thinker and writer, but he has a well-honed sense of justice, which is based on simple fairness. (I think you’d appreciate his work.)

My feeling on the COVID virus is this: I am 75 years old, but I have a lot left to contribute to the world; and I do contribute in many ways. I’m in a susceptible group because of my age, and I don’t want to die yet. Many people don’t take any precautions when in my presence, even though I’m more susceptible than not.

The issue then becomes “ Do I have the right to force those not concerned about the virus to wear a mask and practice social distancing, which is a pain the ass, in my presence?”

Useless eater theory doesn’t apply if I’m not useless. If usefulness is a criterion to not care about old people, then we shouldn’t care for anyone under a ‘useful’ age, say 14. I know, you can say young people have so much more to live and can eventually contribute. But maybe I do too and can contribute indefinitely. And if potential for contribution means something, shouldn’t past and present contribution mean something too? Or do we say, ‘Sorry, sucker’?

Yes, life is a risk, but it’s also an imperative to try to survive as long as possible – that’s written in our genes. So even though the odds of me surviving a COVID infection are around 19 to 1 in my favor, it’s only logical to eliminate even that possibility by wanting people around me to take precautions. If life really is a risk, then why not do parasailing or bungee jumping or free-fall parachute jumping? After all, most people survive those activities and the odds are in their favor.

So, to answer my question at the beginning of this comment, yes I do have the right to try to force people to take COVID precautions when in my presence, IMO. Although it’s a nuisance, the effort is minor and only for a short time – otherwise they are being selfish and uncaring. I suppose I’ll get nailed by posters here for that attitude.

    • Sredni Vashtar October 7, 2020 at 1:11 pm #

So extending that mindset one comes to the Dershowitz Protocols of dragging people in to vaccinate them against their will.

Care to create a boundary or limit? In Ancient Greek thought, the infinite was equated with Primeval Chaos before Creation per se. Creation meant creating limits, the Sky from the Earth and the Earth from the Water as Genesis puts it.

Humans have natural immunity to the seasonal flu but not to COVID.

The rates of death, hospitalization and long term complications from COVID are higher than those of the seasonal flu by several multiples.

But aside from all of that, your logic is impeccable.

          • Sredni Vashtar October 8, 2020 at 4:35 am #

Hap: Just the opposite. Lots of people get and don’t know it or hardly. Others are exposed and it can’t even breach their external defenses – thus no antibodies (signs of combat) are produced.

Give up the fear porn. Let’s face it: you’ve never thought about death before. The weakness of a secular culture and the kind of people it produces. So it’s not all on you, but it’s on you to overcome it.

          • HapMan October 8, 2020 at 11:07 am #

SV: fear porn, virtue signaling, etc etc. This is the language of people who live online.

And “Never though about death”, “slavery” etc is just intellectual masturbation.

The issue is risk. If the guy behind me in line at the grocery store is wearing a mask, my risk is reduced. If I’m wearing a mask, his risk is reduced. Multiply this by several hundred close encounters over a period of weeks or months and your and my risk is reduced. Multiply this by the few hundred million people in this country and you get a meaningful impact on infection rate, illness, hospitalization and death.

This is pretty basic stuff and I am pretty sure you get it.

          • HapMan October 8, 2020 at 11:17 am #

Re the comment above by the troll captioned as “Night Owl”:

Surgical masks have been around for many decades and their utility is straightforward and well understood. They block droplets expelled by the wearer in which the virus is embedded. They are not failsafe but reduce risk of transmission.

          • Sredni Vashtar October 8, 2020 at 1:18 pm #

Hap: So in other words, masks now and forever. How did we get this far without them, right? And you want to pretend there’s no downside to this? If so, you are very superficial.

I have no problem with you wearing a mask. But how do you get to order us to do it? What do you care? The mask works or it doesn’t. You’re safe with your MASK on! Of course that doesn’t satisfy you, Liberalism being the fear that someone (especially someone White) somewhere is happy and free. So we really need our separate stores and offices; better yet our separate states and Nations.

SV: No, not masks now and forever. Just now and until there is a generally available vaccine, which is hopefully a matter of months. I kinda feel like you realize that though and are deliberately misstating my view.

Somehow you have transmuted a straightforward issue of risk mitigation and, I suppose, neighborliness, into issues of slavery, the eternal and apartheid.

In other words, you manage to be both obtuse and grandiose at the same time. But one thing you don’t manage to do is make a whole lot of sense.

Trump stood there, wanting to be adored like some wounded warrior, returning hero like from the horrors of war. The horrors of bone spurs. He ripped off his mask with a grimacing, grotesque and dangerous gesture, spreading his infection from the WH to the Pentagon and beyond.

This colonel of covid wanted to be adored. He wanted to be worshipped. Instead, he’s being despised by those who watch Harris’ ascension into the presidency. Some clearer heads got him to change his destructive position on the stimulus bill.

The VP debate will feature the covid wall and Pence may just be crying out for his mother. No, the other mother. It’ll be interesting to judge Harris, the future president of these divided states of America.

  72. stelmosfire October 7, 2020 at 4:45 pm #

If Biden/Harris are elected I’m leaving this shithole country just like Whoopi Goldberg and Cher did after Trump was elected. Hey, wait a minute. Whoopi and Cher are still in the States you say? What, the libtards are full of shit? Who woulda thunk?

    • tucsonspur October 7, 2020 at 5:45 pm #

They probably have places in Europe or wherever that they can visit.
Not much of a chance they permanently get out of the big, plush, cushy armchair that the US has given them.

That Cher is some babe though. Whoopi? Fuggedaboutit!

      • HapMan October 8, 2020 at 1:11 am #

No. They can’t visit Europe. As Americans, they are subject to the EU travel ban.

It would be fine if they were from Canada, Australia, or New Zealand. Or Uruguay. Or a number of other countries.

But not the US. Because of our off the charts infection rate.

        Think about that.

Then think about the fact that the White House has essentially shut down because the head of our government can’t manage his own shit, much less the country, at the level of Uruguay.

        Vote him out.

        • Night Owl October 8, 2020 at 2:53 am #

“The EU list requires reciprocal easing of travel bans — and the U.S. currently bars most travelers from European countries. China’s inclusion on the travel list is predicated on its removal of EU members from its own travel restrictions.”

Add this to HapMan’s long list of tin-foil specials.

          LOL.

          • HapMan October 8, 2020 at 10:52 am #

China is entitled to reciprocity. The US is not. The reason is our infection rate.

You’re not only a troll, but a very dishonest one.

    A note to “Q”,
Did you see it? The debate? It was crazier than the Trump/Biden fiasco.

It began with Pence being late to the podium…the camera found him in the auditorium passing out pictures of a nude Harris committing unspeakable acts with an unidentified black male. The crowd, mostly devout Mormons, were clearly agitated, several vomiting in the aisles, with not a small number fleeing the venue in tears.

Upon reaching the stage, Pence began berating Harris, quoting Old Testament scripture referencing the Whore of Babylon, and other imprecations, none of them complementary. Harris responded by projectile vomiting a stream of green bile at Pence, not quite reaching his podium, but splashing on his Bruno Mali’s. Pence began a spirited fandango, trying to dislodge the larger pieces of goo from his shoes, all the while brandishing what he screamed was a vial of Holy Water (blessed by the Pope), which he then pitched at Harris.

Well, then, things got interesting. Harris was covered with the water, began screeching and speaking in an ancient tongue, more than once mentioning “Bezuzu”…before bursting into flame.

News media covering the event called the debate “a draw”.

Q, I hope you decided to tune into the debate…it was must-watch
event…better even than HBO. The above is an accurate description of what I saw.

At last Trump puts pressure on that smiling goon, Attorney General Barr.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/where-arrests-trump-demands-barr-200037572.html

If they are not brought to Justice, the Cabal will continue to drag down traditional America.

In other news, Mike Pence is doing great against Harris. This kind of controlled format favors Pence.

    • SoftStarLight October 8, 2020 at 2:31 am #

He has every right to be furious for sure IMO but he probably should have fired Barr a long time ago when it was pretty clear nothing was happening with his investigations. Kamala seemed to have a hard time hiding her anger and bitterness in the debate. It seemed like a very ugly display to me but of course the alphabet soup news will spin her nastiness into some quality of greatness and leadership. What did you think about those plexiglass shields? As if that is going to stop anything that is airborne. Like we really are living in the twilight zone.

      • Sredni Vashtar October 8, 2020 at 4:37 am #

Pence did very well. He actually shined – never losing his cool but being very insistent and forceful. Trump would have gone overboard and then she could have claimed victim status. But she can’t with him. He politely got the best of her.

        • SoftStarLight October 8, 2020 at 9:46 am #

Yeah that’s what I thought too.

  77. benr October 7, 2020 at 11:10 pm #

Heels up Harris got a beat down a d a load shot in her eye.

    • JohnAZ October 7, 2020 at 11:38 pm #

Watching Harris, I saw her turn from an arrogant smiling smart ass at the beginning to a frowning smirking diminutive by debate end.

If you look at the performance of Pence as a communicator, he presented a logical expose of three years of Democratic lies.

The problem is most of America are no longer able to understand what was said.

      No change.

      • sprawlcapital October 8, 2020 at 12:15 am #

Correct, John. As a frequent viewer of Fox, I understood most of the debate points. Unfortunately I am probably not the typical voter.

I think Harris was told to smile a lot, so that she would not look like what she really is: nasty and vicious. Just watch her cross-examining Brett Kavanaugh during his Senate hearing in 2018. That’s the real Kamala.

      • SoftStarLight October 8, 2020 at 2:46 am #

I think you are being too pessimistic John. And while there is a lot to be desired of people you seem to have no faith in humanity at all. Probably most people who watched know who they are going to vote for anyway. But Mike Pence appeared cool under pressure where as Kamala seems like she is volatile under pressure. I imagine others got that impression. She also seemed to be exaggerated and acting at points. A lot more people notice things like that than understand the policy arguments so there is that aspect.

    • Night Owl October 8, 2020 at 3:18 am #

The format remains laughable, but Pence put on a clinic — overcoming the format itself.

Harris reminded us all why she dropped out of the primaries. Despite not having dementia and being much younger, she was unable to get even one memorable moment in.

      • benr October 8, 2020 at 9:37 am #

        Actually there were a bunch.

The first happened when the host told them that Pence had given them the perfect Segway into the topic and Kamala agreed as if she forgot she was not to have been given the questions before hand.

The second was when Kamala become giddy with the excitement of an obvious rehearsed tirade.

When Pence took apart the Russia gate hoax and managed to make Kamala all but show herself to be a liar. by making her distance herself from her own ridiculous platform as well as defending Joe.

Last Kamala clearly was outmatched at every turn and even resorted to spewing the same tired lies.

In fact she does not seem all that bright or quick thinking.
Imagine her with her hand on the nuclear football.

        • Night Owl October 8, 2020 at 10:34 am #

Ha. I meant memorable in the sense that there was nothing that would help her campaign.

I had assumed she would be able to pull off a passable superficial performance, but she was truly awful.

The most amusing part is that the commission now wants all debates to be virtual.

They know exactly how poorly both Biden and Harris fared.

  78. sophia October 8, 2020 at 12:14 am #

Yes, I assume that all corona viruses spread the same way. Perhaps I am wrong, but it seems unlikely.

John, you simply read and believe different sources than I do. You trust sources that I think have proved themselves dishonest.

And you don’t see how cures are held back due to politics and greed. That really surprises me. There are several treatments that are highly effective. Perhaps cure is too strong a word in that they are perhaps less than 100%.

    • SoftStarLight October 8, 2020 at 2:52 am #

DJT says regeneron is so good its almost like a cure. He is trying to make it so that anyone with covid can get it for free.

      • Night Owl October 8, 2020 at 3:25 am #

No cure is needed. It is a coronavirus. Trump’s strategy here appears to be to cut off the vaccine before one arrives.

His theatrics with removing the mask on arrival at the WH, and his reminder that people should not let the hoax virus narrative control them were one of the most presidential acts seen in decades.

        • tucsonspur October 8, 2020 at 3:46 am #

            “Mousolini”

It literally would have taken you 10 seconds to check the spelling of the name of one of the most famous dictators in history, but you didn’t.

The “Twump Dictator!” crowd is one of my favorite things about these past 4 years.

Never has politics been so unintentionally entertaining.

            LOL.

  79. tucsonspur October 8, 2020 at 3:43 am #

I think that the debate was essentially a draw. You might consider Pence the winner since he was cool, calm, and collected under great pressure. He handled the virus about as well as anybody could.

I don’t like the endless Hillary like smile on Kamala. The mouth with those teeth that will chew you up, swallow you, then shit you out and keep on smiling.

Pence finally mentioned what I was beginning to think he wouldn’t near the end. The four year coup attempt against the president. And damn, it was maybe only for a minute. But it helped balance the debate.

I see no prosecutions of the perpetraitors unless Trump wins, and even then I wonder. What happened to us? And if Biden wins I doubt the Republicans will mount any meaningful ‘resistance’.

    • BackRowHeckler October 8, 2020 at 9:27 am #

I think you are correct, TS.

Regardless of who wins next month the entire matter will be quietly dropped, or overshadowed by more pressing events bearing down upon us.

      • benr October 8, 2020 at 9:39 am #

If Trump wins you can count on him pushing that ball forward if for nothing else, to troll his enemies and the sheer spectacle of it.

      • tucsonspur October 8, 2020 at 5:32 pm #

Barr reminds me of that fat old union guy who gets paid for doing nothing.

For years, yes years, Hannity and guests like Sarah Carter went on and on about how the coup perpetraitors were going to face the music. Each day it seemed, there were new revelations, new incriminating evidence to put these people away.

Was it to just gin up the ratings? The whole thing just fizzled out.
Why? Obama-Hillary deep state connections? I just can’t figure it.

  80. KesaAnna October 8, 2020 at 5:17 am #

“A growing number of Secret Service agents have been concerned about the president’s seeming indifference to the health risks they face when traveling with him in public …”

Figures vary based on source , and on method of calculation , but the base average pay for a Secret Service agent is 40K a year.

IF they ARE REALLY CONCERNED then they can quit , and go to work at Burger King , for minus – 15 k a year .

    Problem solved .

” The issue then becomes “ Do I have the right to force those not concerned about the virus to wear a mask and practice social distancing, which is a pain the ass, in my presence?”

    There is no issue.

    At all.

    Period.

    50,000 dead in Italy ?

The population of Italy is 60 million +.

Doubtless more people die in Italy every year from a slice of pizza that went down the wrong way , or from slipping on a banana peel and breaking their neck.

No , math isn’t my best subject , but I’m pretty sure that 50k out of 60 million + doesn’t add up to even one in a hundred.

    200, 000 dead in the U.S. ?

The population of the United States is 300 million + .

Again , I’m pretty sure that doesn’t add up to even one in a hundred.

    Given those mortality figures —

” … those not concerned about the virus … ”

On the contrary , the only thing suspect , or at issue here , is your claimed concern.

“ Do I have the right to force those not concerned about the virus to wear a mask and practice social distancing, which is a pain the ass, in my presence?”

EITHER you DO have freedom of association , or you DO NOT have freedom of association.

If you DO have freedom of association then you are not obliged to be in my presence , and I am not obliged to be in your presence.

If you DO NOT have freedom of association , then , subsequently , any talk about “rights ” is superfluous.

The only issue here , a thousand times over , is the routine ignoring of the reality that you can leave my presence if you don’t like my presence.

And if you can’t leave my presence , that’s called , ” Prison ” , or , ” Slavery ” , and there are no ” rights ” in Prison or in slavery.

Like any right, there’s limits. I’m not a legal scholar so I won’t try to get into what what those limits should be.

“EITHER you DO have freedom of association , or you DO NOT have freedom of association.“

What about curfews? Does that mean I have no freedom of association? Those pesky limits again.

“Doubtless more people die in Italy every year from a slice of pizza that went down the wrong way , or from slipping on a banana peel and breaking their neck.”

      I rather doubt it.

In your opinion 200,000 dead is no cause for concern because it is such a low death rate. That’s your opinion. My opinion is the opposite. Surviving in this world is tough enough that we don’t need any extra threats, no matter the odds.

It seems to me that is the sort of scurrilous rant that ought to get you banned from CFN.

Last night, more interesting events than the VP debates, which were pretty lame. In suburban Milwaukee, Peaceful Protesters actually did move their Street Aktion into the suburbs as they have threatened, smashing windows and destroying property. (Shining bright lights into windows, shouting threats thru electronic bullhorns, throwing bricks into storm doors, you know the drill by now.)

“Tear white people’s shit up”, which is what they were shouting.

There is plenty of video of another ‘Community Shopping Spree’, Community members running out of shops with arms full of merchandise. Also Community Members came armed with claw hammers and hatchets, used to smash thru plate glass windows and storefronts.

What, didn’t see anything about it this morning on the news?

No police presence evident. It seems like the only time the cops show up is if a homeowner defends his property or a motorists tries to navigate thru blocked streets; then the whole force shows up “to protect peaceful protesters.”

Somehow the Communists really established themselves in Wisconsin and Minnesota. The communalism of Nordic man mutated unto his doom? Can’t take his own side, not only as an individual but even as a group or community?

Their cousins the Anglo-Saxon went the other way towards individualism and economic conquest – and all the evils inherent in that.

Meanwhile, back on the homefront, in these overwhelmingly white wealthy Ct towns where BLM signs have sprung up like mushrooms on stately well tended, broad, green lawns, underneath oak and maple trees, latest political craze is for local Town Councils, by unanimous vote, to declare ‘Racism as a Public Health Crisis.’ Lot of fanfare around it. Not sure as a practical matter what it means. Dozens of cars are being stolen out of these towns every week, and a local govt elected official got in trouble recently for identifying the car thieves as Community Members and Hispanic ‘Youths’ from nearby Hartford and New Haven (which is where police eventually find the stolen cars) Phew, he caught hell, probably shut him up for good.

    You have got that right!!

I sit and watch the results of the BS propagated against the President and then hear poll numbers showing the aholes are ahead by not 5%, not 10% but 15-16%.

Yes, the demographics of this country have changed so that Democratic, no Progressive communistic candidates can win elections by wide margins.

This is not the America I was raised in.

And you believe all of the deep state propaganda and fabricated polls? Honestly it sounds like you capitulated to the deep state long ago by trusting their experts. Your love and support of diversity and immigration helped get us where we are so not sure why you lament the demographic change so much. You have always preached the diversity is awesome and that we have to accept all ethnicities, etc. So now we have completely fragmented and now you hate the way things are.

      • JohnAZ October 8, 2020 at 9:06 pm #

        SSL

You have proved to me you cannot read opinion without spinning your viewpoint onto it.

Diversity is here, you are unable to do anything about it at all. Big talk has accomplished nothing about Blacks and Latinos being here. We are stuck with these folks. They are part of the great American experiment, can different ethnicities co-exist under a common law and culture. Today, IMHO, that experiment has failed. Blacks and stupid liberal Whites are at fault. Blacks want no part of a common culture, just like Latinos. Diversity is a total failure and should be a lesson to the entire world.

This country is going to fall apart, it just has not figured out how to do it yet.

And yes, I wish things had worked out differently. But the blame is on the Left and their continued stoking of racial separation in the country especially the Blacks.

Read my stuff a little more closely, SSL. Quit believing everything SV tells you.

I didn’t say we should give up our freedom of association. I just gave an example of us already losing it. And what difference is it that the number of deaths isn’t 200,000, but just 10,000? It’s still a tragedy. Pretty soon we’ll be pooh-pooing a million deaths from something. Any loss of life is a tragedy. You may believe in an afterlife, but just because you do doesn’t mean you’re right.

You go right ahead and run around without a mask. I will run around with my mask to protect myself from you if you were to carry the crud. If you are fortunate, you will not have to face the crud, I hope that is the case. That will mean you have not infected anyone else.

Old man logic, just like John Az. You want absolute security. You came to the wrong Universe.

Benjamin Franklin said it best: “”Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”

    • beantownbill. October 8, 2020 at 2:28 pm #

He didn’t say it exactly like that. We all get old, you will too. Then you will have old man logic, by definition. I don’t expect absolute security, I just believe in trying to maximize my odds – I’m a gambler you know and considering odds is how I live.

      • Sredni Vashtar October 8, 2020 at 2:51 pm #

Maximizing your odds by trampling on our rights. Or as Antifa says, We will tread on you.

He didn’t? Got a different version of the quote? Let’s see it.

Without looking it up, I think he didn’t say ‘a little temporary’. Same gist though.

Seven folks trying to blow up the Michigan capitol and kidnap the governor. Wow. Their complaint was that this state does not have the right to repudiate the Federal government. They are trying to fire off a civil war. I believe they are IDed as militia.

Couple of comments. One civil war 2 is one step closer.

Two removal of a counter force to the Democratic Deep State across the country makes the rise of the uniparty a certain thing.

This is just a beginning, these guys are going to pay a heavy price. In the uniparty’s drive to guarantee absolute power.

John, are you seriously saying that self-organized mobs of ‘good ol’ boys’, armed to the teeth and wrapping themselves in the Flag are okay and should be left to do whatever they want, including kidnapping state governors they don’t like for political reasons and blowing up public buildings? Are these guys ‘heroes’ to you? Are they in the same vein as Rittenhouse?

Trump says No to virtual debate. Good decision to avoid this gay affair. His instincts are spot on. Meanwhile Pelosi is making noises about impeaching Trump because he’s in an “altered state” due to Regeneron or something. As Mark Steyn says, This from someone whose real face we haven’t seen in decades. And his, I prefer Trump’s altered state to her real one.

Piglosi is also scheming now to remove Trump from office on the 25th amendment. They think they can deal conventionally with the unconventional. The US will dissolve for sure if he is removed from office and likely will do so anyway once the contested election drags on without resolution after January.

          Hi Sophia

Could you perhaps expand on this, please?

Who would be in a position to promise you such a thing?
And how are these UN forces expected to be able to ‘invade’ your state?
In what dystopian circumstances would any US Government invite in UN forces?
If such UN forces are not invited, then who WOULD send them in and how would they achieve this? What would you think the objective might be?

          • JohnAZ October 8, 2020 at 8:46 pm #

            FM

The Left in this country are soldiers of the globalists. Of course they want intervention from the UN, just like the Paris environmental treaty was going to tell the US how to spend its resources and who it was going to give trillions to.

          • FreddieMars October 8, 2020 at 9:13 pm #

            JohnAZ

Okay, I get what you’re saying, but that a pretty amorphous ‘adversary’.

It’s also quite a ways from the statement “UN forces”, which implies to me the Blue Helmeted multi-national uniformed brigades.

Maybe Sophia might be able to explain it?

          • Kim October 12, 2020 at 9:54 pm #

            @ Freddie Mars

Not to interrupt your imaginary colloquy with Sophia, but this is a pretty naive statement.

In what dystopian circumstances would any US Government invite in UN forces?

Leaving aside that no healthy sovereign nation ever invites in the blue helmets. Blue helmets are always imposed on those who can’t resist.

That aside, I could pose a very lengthy number of similarly constructed statements reflecting events that in fact happened! For example,

“Why would any US Government hand control of XYZ domestic policy power to hostile foreign off-shore bodies?”

But the US government has done such supoosedly unreasonable thinsgt before this and has tried to do it recently. Remember this one?

            https://www.euronews.com/2018/10/31/un-treary-of-migration-what-was-agreed

This frightful anti-national sovereignty globalist treaty almost became policy in a number of Western countries.

            Or this one?

            https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/apr/26/trump-nra-united-nations-arms-treaty-gun-control

Again, one can express skepticism that such things could ever happen – except that such things have happened!

I could make a very long list of such globalist attempts to overturn US national sovereignty with the cooperation of local US power-elites(!), many of them successful or in the process of being implemented by UN-funded and directed groups in the US today (the utterly hostile and anti-sovereign Agenda 30 program for example).

As to the suggestion of the possibility of the imposition of physical or armed UN-labelled military force upon the United States – as opposed to overthrowing of her sovereignty via gradualism and stealth – it certainly does seem to be an unlikely scenario. But that is only the case as long as the US remains politically, socially and militarily cohesive, robust and under local control. That is, as long as the stealth methods of globalist control fail, then the chance of military defeat or occupation remains unlikely.

Could the United States ever be the victim of armed multi-national interventions or incursions under the guise of peace-keeping forces? Not in the short term. Not as long as the military and politics is not yet fully>/i> subverted and the US citizenry is well armed.

Funny things can happen historically though. Think of the fall of the Russian Empire and the landing of British and United States troops in Russia in 1918. Who could have predicted it five years before?

            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Expeditionary_Force,_Siberia

It is always important to remeber that, vis a vis the USA, the United Nations and the “international community” are a pack of baying curs. They have previously used military force in various impoverished and weakened hotspots, and if the United States ever falls into that class – something they fervently desire and evey day work towards – you can be sure that one day very soon afterwards there is every chance that you could go out onto mainstreet to see yellow-skinned, slanty eyed, and coal black peacekeepers marching past under the blue helmets of “peacekeeping”.

Yesterday Donna Brazile, on Fox news, gloated over Harris’ wonderful debate performance.

A GOP fundraiser for Trump is being charged for not registering as a foreign agent. Our great Justice Department has to prosecute somebody, no?

About a dozen or so brilliant militants supposedly planned to kidnap Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, giving the Democrats a great example to show how violent the Right is, and why we need Biden to keep the peace.

Right, Nancy Pelosi attacks again with the 25th, sowing doubt as to Trump’s capabilities.

The debate commission now seems that it may in fact be biased against Trump.

It’s interesting to note that during my expanded neighborhood surveillance I noticed a roughly equal number of signs, but three Trump flags flying and none for Biden. That’s the old America, good old fashioned patriotism flying.

Biden is still keeping his lead though, and may very well win this one in spite of the anti-Americanism permeating the Democrats. What a shame.

Also in with Hunter Biden and Christopher Heinz Kerry was a third partner, James Bulger, nephew of gangster James ‘Whitey’ Bulger of the Winter Hill Gang in Boston. It was these 3 gentlemen who leveraged their close relations with the Vice President and Secretary of State into a $3 billion ‘investment’ from Chinese Intelligence. “When we win, do not forget that these people want you broke, dead, your kids raped and brainwashed, and they think it’s funny.”

    — From Sredni Vashtar ‘s link

I’m not going to address the statement entire , just a piece of it.

    First ;

    “When we win … ”

    Win what ?

Who among you geniuses actually thinks you have a snowballs chance in Hell of ever becoming a Napoleon Bonaparte , or a Kim Kardashian , for that matter ?

And even if you did ; So you won the million dollar lottery , with a ticket your cousin ( the cousin you don’t even particularly like ) gave you ?

” … do not forget that these people want you broke … ”

Come March , I will be 55 years old.

And I have yet to see a rights , or equality movement that actually seemed to be about rights or equality.

    For example ;

    The womens movement .

Girls want to be Governors , Senators , Generals , Fighter pilots , and police officers too ….

    …. wait a minute ….

    in plain language ;

You want to climb into the ranks of the aristocracy too ,

you want to do fun and / or glamorous stuff , and be grossly over – paid , comparatively , to do so ?

    OK.

What the fuck does that have to do with equality ?

Equality with Hitler ? Equality with John D. fucking Rockefeller ?

I’ll be damned if I can tell where it has anything , remotely , to do with equality.

Still worse , anything to do with rights.

It seems to me that , consistently , ” rights ” is code for privilege.

    Which , very quickly , evolves into , or translates as ;

A ” right ” is sticking a fucking gun in someones face.

    That is , this ” right ” innovation pretty much adds up to a concept that would have been easily familiar to a 15th Century German Duke ;

Some folks have the privilege of strapping on a sword the same way they go about putting on their socks ,

while , for others , strapping on a sword — merely the act of doing so , never mind that you never did , and never intended either , to chop anyones head off with it — is a Felony.

( The above is not rhetorical by the way. In many Western jurisdictions now mere possession — of an 1862 Navy Colt for example — is a Felony , in , and of , itself.

And that’s just one example of why you can go right ahead and call me full of shit , or crazy , I’m still quite confident in saying that you live in East Germany too , and for you to fancy that it is in any ways otherwise is nothing but the grossest self – flattery.

    Limits ??

    Pffft !

You dispensed with anything remotely resembling limits a long fucking time ago. )

    On second thought ,

it seems to me that , if anything , this innovation is worse than what 15th Century Germany had to offer.

    How so ?

Well , at the very least , ” Some animals are better than other animals ” is better because it is more blatant , more obvious.

Whereas , ” All animals are equal — but some are more equal than others ” is a nebulous , foggy , abstraction which can be spun out to infinity.

The former is better precisely because it is unrefined , antiquated , antique , and ……

    …. LIMITED.

( You know LIMITS ? Those things you democratic , freedom loving types supposedly think so much of ? )

    Next example ;

    LGBTQ

I’ll skip to transsexuality because it seems like the simplest , plainest , most direct example of the dichotomy I wish to illustrate.

    As I understand it , transexuality — at least used to be — about ;
” imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. ”

That is , it used to be about fitting in.

How the fuck are you going to fit in , pass off , as one sex , when every Tom , Dick , and Harry knows full well that you used to be the other sex ?

That would not constitute fitting in as the opposite sex.

And it wouldn’t constitute belonging among the opposite sex , even in the remotest sense.

I would ask those who are old enough to search their memories on this point.

Prior to , roughly , 1990 , how many transexuals do you reckon that you could name ?

How many , at least as far as you knew , did you know of , at all ?

You say that , except for the occasional fictional character in a movie , or episode of the Twilight Zone , you didn’t know of ANY ?

But , wasn’t THAT precisely THE POINT ?

You weren’t supposed to see them. You weren’t supposed to know them.

Like I said , the whole idea was to fit in , to belong.

So , in all of that , how does a parade down main street fit into the equation ?

    …..

    It doesn’t.

    Not in any way.

Now , take out the term , ” transexual ” and apply the same processes and formula to ANYONE.

When did it become the conventional wisdom that the way to win friends and influence people , to foster an easier , more pleasant life , was to go about sticking guns in everyones face ?

As JHK has pointed out ( he is of course free to correct me if I am mis – stating his words )

the sub – text of the Super Hero genre is an elitist , aggressive , domineering , master – race – type cosmology.

In plain language , Superman ( circa 1950 btw . You can’t blame that one on creatures like Biden ) has to save the day because the ordinary Joe is a hopeless … well … nigger … who must needs be led by the nose.

I would , for my part , point out that , in plain language , the subtext of the typical TV police drama basically is , in plain language , that wisdom is that the way to win friends and influence people , to foster an easier , more pleasant life , is to go about sticking guns in everyones face .

Apparently this isn’t obvious , though , because you think it makes a difference whether the hero wears NKVD or Gestapo uniform , or a fucking cowboy hat ?

    🙁

Anyway , yeah , as near as I can tell , I have yet to see a rights or equality movement that seems to even remotely have anything to do with such things.

Which is , of course , to say that , no , nobody ever seems to care much about that ” going broke ” part.

They are far too wrapped up in a pursuit of power and privilege that , never mind , can only end one way for little people like yourselves.

  97. KesaAnna October 9, 2020 at 11:01 pm #

    * In many Western jurisdictions now mere possession — of an 1862 Navy Colt for example — is a Felony , in , and of , itself.

    — If you don’t belong to a privileged demographic that possesses the requisite privilege to be in possession of an 1862 Navy Colt.

    That is.

Essentially no different from 15th century feudal German law , except for the nakedly dishonest claim that — well — what’s written in the fucking law book , plain as day , somehow isn’t written there , or somehow doesn’t count .
