In the dark hours of Sunday, the BigTech-government alliance showed its hand in its massive purge of the public square — which is what social media became in a nation of strip-malls, parking lots, and nonstop propaganda — shutting down all voices countering the constructed narrative-du-jour: that the Democratic Party stands for defending Americans’ liberty against a rogue president. There have been many “shots” fired so far to kick off a civil war, but that action was an artillery blast.

Remember, the Left’s playbook is to accuse their opposition of doing exactly what they are doing. And so, of course, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has launched a last-minute impeachment on grounds of the president inciting “insurrection.” By a strange coincidence, reports on as-yet-still-live web channels say that the president has actually invoked the Insurrection Act against seditionists in our government, including, perhaps, Ms. Pelosi. If it is true — and I can’t confirm it — then the nation has blundered into an epic political battle.

Some facts may suggest the truth of the situation: The Washington DC air-space was shut down for hours on Sunday afternoon, and 6000 national guard troops have been moved into the District of Columbia as well as other cities controlled by Democrats with Antifa/BLM mobs at their disposal. What does that signify? The news media couldn’t be troubled to find out.  Mr. Trump is reported to be in “a safe location.” As of last week, that was Dyess Air Force Base outside Abiline, Texas. Maybe he is somewhere else now. The New York Times, WashPo and CNN would like you to think that Mr. Trump has been pounded down a rat-hole. That’s one possibility. Another possibility is that the Democratic Party is unnerved and desperate about what’s liable to come down on them in the days ahead, which resembles a colossal hammer in the sky.

Mr. Trump is still president, and you’ve probably noticed he has been president for four years to date, which ought to suggest that he holds a great deal of accumulated information about the seditionists who have been playing games with him through all those years. So, two questions might be: how much of that information describes criminal acts by his adversaries — most recently, a deeply suspicious national election based on hackable vote-tabulation computers — and what’s within the president’s power to do something about it? I guess we’ll find out.

Or, to state it a little differently, it is impossible that the president does not have barge-loads of information about the people who strove mightily to take him down for four years. At least two pillars of the Intel Community — the CIA and the FBI — have been actively and visibly working to undermine and gaslight him, but you can be sure that the president knows where the gas has been coming from, and these agencies are not the only sources of dark information in this world. Also consider that not all the employees at these agencies are on the side of sedition.

By its work this weekend, starring Jack Dorsey (Twitter), Zuck (Facebook), Tim Cook (Apple), and Jeff Bezos (Amazon and The WashPo), you know exactly what you would be getting with The Resistance taking power in the White House and Congress: unvarnished tyranny. No free speech for you! They will not permit opposing voices to be heard, especially about the janky election that elevated America’s booby-prize, Joe Biden, to the highest office in the land.

Now there’s a charismatic, charming, dynamic, in-charge guy! He’s already doing such a swell job “healing America.” For instance, his declaration Tuesday to give $30-billion to businesses run by “black, brown, and Native American entrepreneurs” (WashPo). Uh, white folks need not apply? Since when are federal disbursements explicitly race-based? What and who, exactly, comprise the committee set up to operate Joe Biden, the hypothetical, holographic President? Surely you don’t believe he’s spirit-cooking this sort of economic policy on his own down in the fabled basement.

And so, here we stand at the start of what’s liable to be a fateful week for the United States. There is a lot of chatter on the lowdown that the current president — that would be Mr. Trump, for those out there who are confused — is about to act to take down the scurvy party that enabled and condoned six months of rioting, arson, and looting in at least a dozen cities — cadres of whom may have actually instigated that incursion into the US Capitol building on Wednesday. The president appears to understand his duty to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. He had plenty of opportunity to be a quitter from 2017 to 2021 and he hung in there, against every cockamamie operation the Deep State threw at him. Odds are he’s not quitting now.

This is it. “The storm” as he put it in that press conference is upon us.

He has either mobilized his forces to save the country from the global capitalists or he has not.

    I pray he has.

      What forces?

      • edpell January 11, 2021 at 10:31 am #

My understanding is Navy, Air Force and Marines are with the president of the United States but sadly the Army is in rebellion against the president and the people.

        • Night Owl January 11, 2021 at 11:06 am #

He was surrounded by military brass when he made the statement. We shall see.

Let’s hope, for all the World, that he has a Trump card to play.

          ed,
Not necessarily will the Army not be aligned. The Officer class, especially at flag grade, have grown up and benefitted in our culture. The Woke edicts coming down from the politicians are anathema to them. They will do what they are told to do…and many will like it.

Dear JHK; If i had my choice I would rather live in Joe Biden’s America, with all of its’ faults, than the People’s Republics of Quebec and Ontario. I doubt Biden will have the cops chasing down and ticketing citizens just for leaving home or stopping to talk to their neighbors, All and any political demonstrations are banned and anyone participating is subject to a huge fine and possibly a year in jail. Even homeless people are being ticketed for being outside. You think I make this shit up? Just google Lockdown Ontario or Quebec Curfew.

      • MaryV January 11, 2021 at 12:40 pm #

He has the military, sources are saying.

      • hortonz January 12, 2021 at 11:19 pm #

If you want to witness what the next four years of a Biden administration could look like you just look north of the border to Ontario and Quebec, two of the most locked down jurisdictions in North America. Want to go out for a coffee with your friend? Forget it, all the restaurants, coffee shops and bars are closed until further notice. Only take out is allowed and you better have a damned good excuse for being out and about. People are allowed to leave their home only to go to work or do essential tasks like going to the grocery store of getting a prescription filled, If you’re having visitors over you might want to think twice. No more than five people can congregate in front of your house unless they live there. Police can come into your home and arrest you if they have reason to believe you are having an “illegal” gathering. In Quebec you can’t even leave your house for any reason except work between 8 pm and 5 am. If you take your kids out to the park you can face a hefty fine for trespassing on public property, which is off limits to everybody during the duration of the lockdown. A father in Toronto was fined $1800 for taking his kids to the park And lets not forget the threat posed by overzealous bylaw enforcement officers who are there harass and punish every one of your transgressions, All non-essential businesses are closed which leaves you with only big box stores and 7-11 to meet all your needs. Main streets are devoid of all and any life except the homeless and all public gatherings are banned unless you are in a BLM or Antifa protest. Local businesses are on the verge of extinction and politicians behave like they are auditioning to host a game show, But at least we live in a democracy.

Whatever the President has done and is doing, I know and see the evil against him and our God-given rights and stand against those powers.

I was in DC and found solidarity in this stance uniformly and universally. There was no violence asked for or intended. But if the matter isn’t settled justly, I assure you the patriots are coming next time locked and loaded.

    • thirdcoastlegend January 11, 2021 at 10:47 am #

      Possibly.

There are curious signs that there is a lot more going on.

Trump has a track record of tweets about election fraud reaching back a decade or so.

Didn’t he also revive firing squads as a means of capital punishment at the federal level?

That doesn’t seem like something anyone does on a whim.

Running the social contract between the commons and our civilisation has become extremely energy-intensive…

There is no enough remaining fossil fuels to allow this happening forever.

China imports 17.5+ million barrel of oil daily, roughly the total of all what Saudi and Russia export of oil – combined.

Watching the news on the US election unfolding, now for almost the last year, worldwide – has consumed terrawatts after terrawatts of electricity.

All finite fossil fuels burned in the process are now gone – for good.

Has burning all that one-off fossil fuels in the process of US election can be justified?

Cannot humans simplify their social contract, sparing some irreplaceable fossil fuels for the future?

This is not a social contract that is working well, but rather an irresponsible sacrifice of finite, one-off fossil fuels reserves traded cheaper than water on the basis they are not finite.

“Energy, like time, only flows from past to future”.

        Wailing.

      • Amman January 12, 2021 at 3:30 pm #

We live in a world where everyone and every Theory-Fact is half-suspect. Mr Kunstler is right to muse a possible disaster to the Democratic Party and its shenanigan-plans because ultimately the real Actor, The Law, is the LONG EMERGENCY. In short, eveyrone will be busted.

    • hmuller January 11, 2021 at 12:01 pm #

For the last 4 years we’ve repeatedly heard the refrain “Trump is about to crack down; mass arrests to occur”. It reminds me of Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown, promising this time it’s for real.

Don’t get me wrong; I hope he hangs all the filthy dogs from lamp posts. But I just don’t think he’s got that much fortitude in him or we would have seen some of it by now..

      • Wizard of the Saddle January 11, 2021 at 12:26 pm #

        @hmuller

I regretfully agree. There is far too much fantasy and wish fulfillment in these vague assurances that Trump will do something dramatic to forestall the Biden coup.

But I will be delighted to be proven wrong. I would support a Trump dictatorship at this point.

It would be better than a Pelosi totalitarian communist one-party state.

        • hmuller January 11, 2021 at 4:19 pm #

Yes Wizard, the rumors and strange events are really moving now.

Here’s something very odd from ZeroHedge about Trump’s term ending today: The time is less than 4 hours from now; so we shall soon see.https://www.zerohedge.com/political/disgruntled-staffer-hacks-state-department-site-changes-trumppence-bios

On the same day that House Democrats introduced an article of impeachment against President Trump on Monday for “incitement of insurrection” following a group of his supporters attacking the Capitol last Wednesday, something odd has happened on the U.S. State Department website under the president’s bio where it now says “Donald J. Trump’s term ended on 2021-01-11 19:49:00.”
NYT’s Seth Abramson first pointed out that President Trump’s presidency will “end” at 7:49 PM tonight.

          • MaryV January 11, 2021 at 5:24 pm #

I do believe that’s hack, and it seems to coincide with Pelosi’s demand that Trump resign immediately. So maybe a psyop/false flag sort of thing. They like to mess with us, don’t forget.

          • Wizard of the Saddle January 11, 2021 at 9:48 pm #

            Very odd indeed.

            I have a prediction.

Tomorrow morning Trump will still be our President.

          • Justin January 12, 2021 at 10:02 am #

Yes, that State department letter was hacked, and is fake, so that is very interesting indeed. They are getting very careless and sloppy.
There is no Constitutional way to end the president’s term before 1/20, unless he is impeached before 1/20, and that’s not going to happen before 1/20. Not legally anyway…
There is no way they can prove “incitement of insurrection” against Trump, so that is another desperate attempt that will surely fail.

      • MaryV January 11, 2021 at 12:43 pm #

What if he had to wait for them to entrap themselves? Which they all did by having a hand in the election fraud? Recall that laptops were taken during the so-called capitol breach: Many with intel connections are saying that those laptops revealed a lot of CCP handlers sending certain people their marching orders. Ought to be some fun ahead. Grab your popcorn.

        • tlauria January 11, 2021 at 1:35 pm #

Let’s really stir the pot or plot if you prefer.

What if the Capitol police seen on the video removing the barriers, thus allowing the “rioters” to storm the place, were acting with orders to admit clandestinely embedded Special Forces who were assigned the confiscation of Pelosi’s laptop?

Forensic labs somewhere are frantically looking for the goods.

          • MaryV January 11, 2021 at 5:26 pm #

Yes – that is the scenario I was told was likely. They let the antifa plan go ahead and used the ensuing melee to snag the laptops. Bravo, if true.

I agree. Occam’s razor and all. The exploitation of human nature’s flaws are being played out before us. It’s the only reason bizzaro-world could be embraced by seemingly rational people.

      • Amman January 12, 2021 at 3:35 pm #

My thoughts exactly. Another thought occurred to me that if the finances blow up, then whole cities turn de facto into ANTIFA CITIES.

    • kimmasad01 January 11, 2021 at 11:55 pm #

Trump can have all the information in the world, backed up with all the physical evidence in the world, about all their crimes- but does Trump possess the necessary police power to activate EO13848 and call down Insurrection on an obviously culpable US-UK-lead despotic corporate kleptocracy? Where/how do we stand if the judicial arm of said corporate kleptocracy -a military tribunal- dismisses the cases? Options are dwindling quickly on both sides of this massive politicoschism in American politics. To fix this, the first but certainly not the only thing that needs to go is the central bank’s capacity to create irredeemable, unlimited fiat and then to abate the govt.’s ability to enjoy unlimited access, by any scheme, to aforementioned irredeemable fiat.

      • Rulo Deschamps January 12, 2021 at 4:45 pm #

kimmasad, indeed. Geopolitics, global economy, resource depletion, even social trends and ideologies, all share the elephant in the room, the biggest unacknowledged factor directing them: unlimited money, and unlimited access to it by the biggest players: govt’s, large corporations & financial actors.

    • Unperson37854 January 12, 2021 at 10:32 am #

Nothing is going to happen save anyone who dares think for themselves being labeled a domestic terrorist.

This is all human nature repeating itself. Situations like this will continue to repeat as long as the species exists, just repeat at different paces due to different resources and tools (means of communication, weapons, control mechanisms) at humans disposals.

Eventually a prevailing collectivist “movement”, “religion”, etc. is born out of the exploitation of the ego and insecurity in our nature (once that exploitation has reached critical mass).

This materialized movement then eventually gains majority power due to its power-dependent and control-dependent nature.

It then becomes everything it professes to be against, destroys all opposition and then eventually destroys itself via the inability to sustain its own con on a finite resource (eventually), and/or its imagined utopia is neither achievable (because it ignores human nature) nor sustainable outside of complete tyranny. From there all you’re left with is Pol Pot’s Cambodia at worse, China (where they’re wise enough to relax some of the human rights abuses just enough to satiate the masses with better bread crumbs) at best.

Without the free market of ideas or competition to help right things, people will defect/try to physically escape if they can, or build up a true resistance from within. If able to escape and avoid being hunted down and exterminated, then those who escape (if allowed to participate in the free market), will create a better alternative that will offer more freedom and opportunity and advancement than the totalitarian regime they escaped – which will in turn attract more people. If unable to escape or compete if they do, then a revolution will be attempted, and it’ll just be a matter of whether its successful or not as to how long the movement will last. Tens of years, or hundreds of years?

It used to be that geography allowed for escape and protection, not just physically, but from bad ideas and propaganda, but with our advancements in communication and technology there is no longer a large enough swath of earth required to be able to escape to that can’t be touched by tech or reached by the latest in military machines.

It was a good run, and it will be good again, but I’m betting it will take more than 20 years at best.

      • Rulo Deschamps January 12, 2021 at 4:46 pm #

        Unperson, interesting thoughts. Thanks.

      • hortonz January 14, 2021 at 2:02 pm #

This morning at 10am millions of Ontarians were notified by an air raid sound on their cellphones and given this message by Comrade Doug Ford, leader of the People’s Republic of Ontario, Canada. “EMERGENCY ALERT. A stay-at-home order is in effect, Only leave home for essential purposes such as food, healthcare, exercise or work. It is the law. Stay home, stay safe. It’s the law.” Of course this did not go over well with millions of angry tweets pouring into the idiot-in-chief of Ontario saying “Are you Fn kidding me @fordnation. I just got a txt and tv alert about staying home?!?! WTF this isn’t an amber alert or immediate risk situation. You do that again and I’m reporting you to the CRTC [Canadian FCC] for abuse of my personal communication devices. This is BS!!! Another wrote “I wasn’t pissed about the lockdown til they! woke me up out of my sleep with a f*cking amber alert.” But perhaps the best tweet went “An emergency alert when the big box stores are still open and you can have after school programs and pick up crap at the mall? I’m sorry I’m not over this.” So stay home until further notice unless you want to pick up a cute shirt at Wal Mart or stuff your face with fast food.

Thanks JHK. You’re the only remaining source I trust to report honestly, what you see and hear. You leave the synthesis to me.

Twitter, Facebook, Apple, Google and Amazon are public companies. They have shareholders and their shareholders identities are in the public record. Should we assume that these shareholders are in agreement with the censorship? What about their Boards of Directors? The accountability for the actions of the management team rests with the Board of Directors and the Majority Shareholders. Take them to task over this. Money does talk after all…

What a time to be alive. The pendulum swings wildly between despair and exhilaration these days. Here’s to exhilaration… (today).

    • steelrust January 11, 2021 at 11:24 am #

Twitter & Co. as now are used as WEAPONS, so their economical costs are irrelevant, only they effectivness counts, as any financial loss incurred in using them against Trump could be recovered with some ad hoc subside if the golpists win.

      • Pete January 11, 2021 at 11:53 am #

Well now Goldman Sachs, and the other Wall Street firms are getting in on the act by cutting of funding sources to the candidates or representatives they say supported overturning the election. (Really, just wanting to verify the result honestly).

It’s really not paranoia when everyone is out to get you.

I feel like it’s only a matter of time now before they actually do come for me because of the way I think.

All conservatives who hold stock in these companies should DUMP them. Why fund communists?

Or, alternately, if there is enough money to be had, BUY up all the shares, take these companies private, and DISMANTLE THEM.

(The Wiz likes this second idea even better….but it probably is economically impossible. Too much money would be lost to achieve the goal.)

      • Pete January 11, 2021 at 1:59 pm #

Exploit the 80/20 rule. I believe conservatives find themselves in the 20% group. That group being the 20% of the people who do 80% of the work.

I’m sure many of us have observed the wokesters at work. They’ve always got something going on that isn’t related to delivering work.

So take a break when you’re entitled. Eat your lunch someplace besides your desk.

Skip the meeting, send woke delegates. Delegate everything to wokesters.

Put your feet up. Let the 80% who just show up do the heavy lifting from now on. Resistance was never sweeter, or easy to do. They want 100% of the fruits of your efforts. I say give it to them.

    • MaryV January 11, 2021 at 12:44 pm #

      “uniparty”

I have never heard that term before and I will use it from now on. That sums it up nicely.

      • Wizard of the Saddle January 11, 2021 at 12:35 pm #

Yeah. The UniParty is a vulture. It has two wings: One powerful Left wing and a withered and largely surely Right wing.

As a result, the buzzard tends to fly aimlessly around in endless circles, going nowhere.

        • Wizard of the Saddle January 11, 2021 at 12:36 pm #

That should have read: …..and a withered and largely USELESS Right wing.”

      • SW January 11, 2021 at 11:13 am #

The election has been certified and that’s that. It’s over. All this self-indulgent, malicious talk by Pelosi about fast-tracking another impeachment is pure political drama. She needs to look at a calendar b/c everyone else is. She’s making a fool of herself and the idiots who support her. But this woman is so drunk with her own self-importance and has apparently crushed most opposition to her that she’ll plow ahead and make noise until the inauguration.

How about someone think about the American citizens for a change? Including Trump. Know when you’ve been beaten and make the most of a dignified exit and give your enemies no more ammunition to smear you.

I’m very worried what we’ll be facing is “The Resistance taking power in the White House and Congress: unvarnished tyranny. No free speech for you! They will not permit opposing voices to be heard, especially about the janky election that elevated America’s booby-prize, Joe Biden, to the highest office in the land.”

        • Paul January 11, 2021 at 11:47 am #

I don’t know about that, SW. From where I sit, the Senator from Delaware is looking one of the best friends the Republicans have right now. Hasn’t he always been a Republican in all but name?

        • Yohannon January 11, 2021 at 12:26 pm #

Perhaps she’s trying to oust him before he does something conclusive – like sign the Insurrection Act. If he has done so, he has beaten her to the punch. She may be particular afraid if during the chaos, Special Forces took her laptops.

Pelos i- bad cop, Biden – good cop. Don’t fall for it.

        • Wizard of the Saddle January 11, 2021 at 12:40 pm #

          @SW

I agree. Nancy is engaging in a lot of noise making just to score points with her eroding base of support in the House of Representatives. She is barely hanging on to the Speakership at this point. AOC and company aspire to replace her. So she throws them this raw meat, knowing that this second impeachment is going to be a laughing stock and will fail as utterly and surely as last year’s impeachment did. (I guess impeachment is an annual event now, like the State of the Union.)

So, the person 3rd in line to the presidency continues to pour JET FUEL on the fire this week – accelerating this country’s headlong hurtle towards a second civil war. Stinking alcoholic wretch. I hope she chokes to death on her next gluttonous indulgence of gourmet ice cream.

          • SW January 11, 2021 at 1:32 pm #

I agree they want to keep the airwaves filled with histrionic narratives that the country was on the verge of a dangerous coup by people WITHOUT FACE MASKS and who put their feet on the hallowed desk of Nancy Pelosi and have the gall to smile! Far more horrifying than burning a police station to the ground. With no consequences.

          • MaryV January 11, 2021 at 6:00 pm #

I’d happily thank you, but all we have is cold comfort if that is the best we can hope for from our government. Eleven presidential elections I’ve been eligible to vote, and EVERY time the “choice” got worse …

  4. MrMangoOnMyShoulder January 11, 2021 at 9:39 am #

The chatter is certainly interesting. But to me most of it reads like a Dan Brown novel. The pope arrested? Intentional blackouts in key European cities at key times? Insurrection Act invoked in secret?

I don’t know (obviously). If any of those things are even potentially true one has to wonder – will the fallout be worth the action? I suppose so, for the sanctity of defending the Republic and the truth. But that truth better be damn good and ironclad, or things will get really ugly.

They’ll get especially ugly if the intel isn’t obvious and overwhelming to the majority of the population. But if there is undeniable proof, at least in that case half of the country will understand and be able to get behind it (albeit many hesitantly so). If it’s weak or even see-through, Trump will look like a dictator, even to most of his supporters. And all hell will break loose. And I would say justifiably so.

Better be gottdam good. If not, for my money it would much better serve the country if he walked off into the hazy, overcast winter sunset and go hit the links and let us deal with adjusting to the new national concept of “Idenity America”.

    Ugh.

I dont belive that the Democrat/Media/corporatist cabal will allow him walk off into the sunset – hazy or otherwise. They’ve been out to destroy him since before his inaugaration, and they wont be happy untill he’s being raped in prison , or living under a bridge in a cardboard box. People need to think long and hard on this. Leftists always end up murdering their political opponents by the millions. Just study their history throughout the entire 20th century. Plenty of documentation. Do it quickly, though, before the tech titans and the Biden administration start erasing and re-writing the history books to omit this sordid legacy.

    • Yohannon January 11, 2021 at 12:31 pm #

How much more proof do you need? Imagine if when the Declaration of Independence was being written or the Constitution, thugs from the paper mill broke in homes and took the unfished documents away saying, We heard about this and you’re not using our paper to do it with. So you try another area, same thing. All the paper mills and paper merchants were in on it. You can only write good things on their paper.

But you still have the public square! No, they guys who laid the Cobblestones are hanging around – not on their cobblestones you don’t. The Street Cleaners will back them up too….

Also the Election was stolen – did you hear about that?

      • MrMangoOnMyShoulder January 11, 2021 at 3:03 pm #

Oh, I don’t need any more proof. I’m talking about something that actually opens the eyes of the 80 million Americans who don’t believe what they’ve already been shown, as far as proof goes.

Something the courts can’t ignore and still get away with that ignorance.

        We’re in a bad place.

        • Yohannon January 11, 2021 at 3:15 pm #

You have to accept a goodly measure of elitism and hierarchy: most people will never understand what’s going on at any time, what to speak of now.

The Courts ignored the biggest case in American History. The reform is going to take years and be of the most radical kind.

          • cbeard January 11, 2021 at 6:55 pm #

Yes, this election theft fiasco and the refusal of any court to hear evidence is certainly the biggest clusterfuck of the country, at least in my lifetime. Bigger than the JFK assassination, bigger than 911 even. This has more potential to completely destroy the country. As far as people not understanding, as Ron White says, “you can’t fix stupid”.

    • Wizard of the Saddle January 11, 2021 at 12:45 pm #

It doesn’t really matter. The Democrat Leftist mob could all walk out on live TV and strangle the life out of innocent infants and half of this idiotic country would still blame the infant deaths on Trump.

At this point facts don’t seem to matter anymore. The country is hopelessly split in two and nothing……I mean nothing…..is going to glue it back together again.

The question now is simply how badly this all ends.

One thing is for certain. The USA if pretty much finished as a viable country. It will be replaced by multiple successor nations. What happened to the Soviet Union in 1990-91 is about to happen to us.

      • MrMangoOnMyShoulder January 11, 2021 at 3:07 pm #

Good lord. I hope the Soviet collapse is not where we’re at, but everything you said leading up that made sense. So perhaps that does too, following the same line of logic.

And hey, they’re doing okay now. But a decade or two of readjustment to a new hierarchical and financial place in the world is not exactly enticing.

        • Yohannon January 11, 2021 at 3:17 pm #

No doubt there will be a good deal of looting of the scraps of our formerly powerful economy. New oligarchs will rise. The cycle will repeat. Small chance, in my view, that any of the successor governments will be much of an improvement over the current one, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Probably a declass by itself will not be enough, it will need to be accompanied by mass arrests and tribunals. We have seen the collective yawn at the release of Hunter’s “laptop from hell” and most sheeple have never even heard of it, or think it is Russian disinfo.

As far as the Pope goes, something is definitely going on there. I am now seeing MSM reports of concern over the Pope’s health and possible exposure to covid. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if we heard that the “Pope got covid” and succumbed to it.

In fact just the opposite will happen. Any claims of any shady business on the part of the Democrats and how they stole the election. The Deep State along with the Press and Big Tech will see to it that it’s swept under the rug.

I dunno what to think anymore. I hope he hasn’t given up on us although surely we, as a country, deserve it. Watching the RINO rats desert the sinking ship is sickening. Guess he knows who his friends are now!

We have been so complacent. allowing MSM, Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and all the rest to develop their empire, forgetting that they hold the keys to it. What were we thinking?

I’ve been advocating to friends who use WhatsApp to get off and switch to Signal. Some have but it’s amazing how many are loathe to make a change as it’s just so convenient to keep on doing what they are. So many won’t drop Facebook as their “lives” are on there now! Yep, the left is smart. They realize how stupid and lazy Americans are.

    • Rodster January 11, 2021 at 9:52 am #

I dumped my Fakebook account last week, right after they de-platformed Trump. That thing is nothing but a leftist echo chamber. All my “friends” were delighting in talking about how awful and seditious the rioters were at the Capitol. I pointed out that some of those people were not Trump supporters and they all reacted horrified with “Are you really going to go there?” F -em all.

Lawfish, I’ve been contemplating doing the same. I didn’t even have a FacePlant account until I ran for political office and my campaign manager urged me to create one as part of the strategy to win the election. But then, even after I left, I kept the GD thing because by then I had friends and relatives who I mightn’t have had any contact withexcept for FP. I get that FP is all about self-promotion and positioning, but there are other ways to effect that; that’s why I’ve created my own website where those who want to can find me and those who don’t care to will happily leave me alone.

They are being used to track us. They put the COVID app on mine and I can’t remove it. Luckily, I never take it with me when I’m out of the house. It never moves more than 1.5 feet in any directions.

        • michael January 11, 2021 at 1:52 pm #

Fully charge the battery, put it in a metal box and switch it off. No signal comes in, none out. If, despite being switched off, it tries to connect to a cell tower, the battery will run down. As no return signal will be received the phone will increase signal strength to max, that will deplete the battery.

After this experiment you will know whether the phone is really off or not once switched off.

Always have it in a metal box when traveling. That way they cannot follow your route. They can only locate you when you take it out.

          • beantownbill. January 11, 2021 at 5:20 pm #

I’m surprised the Covid tracking is still opt-in.

I’d have thought they would have forced it in a software update.

I’m also surprised states like NY and CA haven’t started demanding location data from the cell companies so they can fine and arrest quarantine violators.

  7. King of Comedy January 11, 2021 at 9:49 am #

The irony of the party that gave us the Orwellian “mostly peaceful” protests throughout the summer now clutching their pearls at the Capitol iteration should set off bullshit-detectors throughout the land.

As far as Trump goes, the transcript of his speech prior to the mostly peaceful protest entering its slightly un-peaceful phase is there for all to read. It’s difficult to charge someone with incitement when that someone explicitly calls on those in the the crowd to “peacefully and patriotically” assert their voices… but vis-a-vis the topic of today’s CFN, that speech to me also shows a Trump way too locked into his own head to take the dire state of the country into account. Perhaps his narcissism produces the same end result but that looks like a long shot.

    • NickelthroweR January 11, 2021 at 9:58 am #

Name me a single person in politics or entertainment that isn’t a narcissist. I’ve provided media services for both groups for decades and I can tell you that there is no difference. As a matter of fact, when it comes to the frontman, you’d better have a narcissist or the project isn’t going anywhere.

Nice try though with the insults but you’ll have to do better.

      • King of Comedy January 11, 2021 at 10:27 am #

Of course they’re all narcissists. Tangential though to what I’m saying.

Insults? Sounds like you may have to adjust that aforementioned bullshit detector. My point is simply that Trump seems way more fixated on the personal affront of “losing” to a self-flagellating cadaver than to the water pouring over the bow of the foundering US of A.

The most telling in the Dem hysterical lying about Trump’s incitement of an “insurrection” and “coup”, is that it never mentions that Trump asked for the demonstration on Capitol to be peaceful. He said: ” I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.” (https://www.rev.com/blog/transcripts/donald-trump-speech-save-america-rally-transcript-january-6 @18:16). Funny call to insurrection, wouldn’t you say?

    • Mountain gal January 11, 2021 at 10:05 am #

Since when does the left care about the truth? And they know that most Americans are so dumb and lazy they’ll never bother to look to the source. If CNN, NYT etc tells them that Trump rallied the forces for an insurrection, why he must have done that!

      • Night Owl January 11, 2021 at 10:15 am #

That is why the corporate media is the greatest threat to freedom in the West.

They can legally lie with impunity, and even the most-trusted of trusted sources such as AP and Reuters now dish up verifiable lies on a daily basis.

The repeal of Smith-Mundt was huge. The fact that the AP made a public statement that it practices “accountability journalism” remains one of the most incredible media developments I have seen in decades.

Accountability journalsim is simply a euphemism for baldfaced lying.

        • MrMangoOnMyShoulder January 11, 2021 at 3:17 pm #

How did Smith-Mundt get repealed anyway? Our government used to break up companies when they got to be monopolies. They’d break up telecom and broadcast networks that had too much sway. Now they revel in benefitting from a monopolistic system.

Not to mention, they don’t play the speech to show him riling up the crowd. They normally do that when they want to depict Trump as a madman, and his supporters as mindless, violent rubes. Maybe they figure everybody has got it now so they don’t have to drive home their point.

    9/11:

An event transpired which was entirely foreseeable, for which massive defenses had long been in place, and for which abundant warning had been given.

Defenses were pulled back to enable the event to take place.

Pre-selected scapegoats were immediately identified – without investigation – as being responsible for the incident.

A huge legislative package, prepared in advance was hastened through Congress – without adequate time for study or debate.

The new post 9/11 world saw a U.S Deep State with vastly expanded powers, unquestioned by a shaken citizenry.

The United States Constitution lay in tatters.

Communism is sufficient to explain why our republic is being dismantled before our eyes. We don’t need any tin-foil hat bizarro conspiracy theories the likes of which make the Q-Anon theory appear rational.

We have serious business to deal with in 2021. The time for phony-baloney fantasy is over.

        • akmofo January 11, 2021 at 1:26 pm #

          Communism is the superficial cover.
Same for fascism, socialism, nazism, progressivism, satanism, etc.
          Why do they exist?
Who and why is giving them support?
          What’s the ultimate purpose here?

You know very well there is a carefully scripted plan that is being followed. But you refuse to ask by whom, and why, and how, and for what purpose was it devised.

Not to ask these question and not to actively seek answers to them is to be intellectually vacuous, and ultimately fall pray as a clueless chump.

Has there been a huge legislative bill passed recently? I’ve had similar thoughts on 9/11 and censorship. No Standing means no evidence, means no seeking redress for grievances, means the government has disenfranchised 330+ million people. Whenever the government screws everybody it’s those people, them over there, it happens incrementally over time and everyones moral compass and integrity deteriorates along with reality to the point that they’re too stupid to comprehend that No Evidence applies to them too, and has from the start of “them over there” decades ago.
A government employee victimizes someone or people, a faction within government, or any localized group from tiny to large, cooperating to take advantage of other people. Victimize, terrorize, and murder, from bad to worse is predictable. Similar to hyperinflation, it happens real slow then all at once. America has been devouring it self for a long time. The stock market is a reflection to the extent for how much the foundational infrastructure can be canbalized, without collapsing everything. Government, economic/monetary, civil/cultural/societal, environmental, and population collapse. The stock market is insanity, but how to correlate it with the extent of collapse, who knows? But, the longer the system is undermined, the faster the corruption spreads, the higher the probability the more rapid it will fall, and be completely destroyed is the overall process. Ponzi Scheme dynamics. For most of my life (60>) I could never have imagined that the military taking over the government is likely the best option. It will be horrible if it happens, but if it does it is the citizenries indifference and apathy that caused it, and considering the sins the world has suffered from America, if I wasn’t an atheist, it’s far better than the full wrath of their god that they deserve.

January 6 was the bookend for 9/11 – including an improbably low level of preparedness for an eventuality that had been foreseen. Recall the doctrine “Never let a good crisis go to waste.” We will soon have a “Domestic Terrorism” act that is just as draconian and unfettered as the Patriot Act, and America will be like East Germany in the eighties, but with far more dangerous tech to control us.

The Neoliberals have, literally, declared war against both Red State America and the true Left. Anyone who expresses opposition to the regime, even in what used to be considered “private,” can be simply disappeared without due process of law. Constitutional Rights? Fuggedaboutit.

    • Yohannon January 11, 2021 at 12:43 pm #

So the True Left isn’t violent and totalitarian? Such a Communism is like an ultra-rare element that only exists theoretically or for a split second during thermonuclear reactions. Not something to base your life on in other words. Not based on Man as he is….

Lol? Why lol? Liberalism was always “moving on” as they put it. Where was it going but towards the Left? But on the other hand, that was nonsense since the Banks and Corporations were funding it. But most don’t know that or only in the doubt think kind of way. AOC is scary because she believes all of this, that our system can run on solar pixie dust. Those behind Biden know better. That’s a big conflict.

      • Zoltar January 11, 2021 at 9:50 pm #

Yo: Don’t try to put words in my mouth. I did not characterize the true left, but simply noted that they, along with the right, now find themselves at war with the Neoliberal Corporate State.

When all other means of opposition have been eliminated, only violence remains, regardless if where a group may be located on the political spectrum.

        • Yohannon January 12, 2021 at 1:33 am #

The True Left? Communism is a project of Capitalism. Or do you think peasants with pitchforks and workers with hammer overthrew Russia like old revolutionary art and propaganda would suggest? Or do you know that the Bankers funded it?

Why wouldn’t there be a riot at the US Capitol?

I find it difficult to get upset about a riot at the US Capitol when the last 7 months have been rioting across much of country, including the persistent attack on a federal courthouse in Portland, OR.

OK. Nancy Pelosi’s laptop got stolen. It’s tragic that a number of people were murdered during the riot for that to happen.

More evidence is being uncovered as to just what a setup the rally at the Capitol was.

Why does the media keep referring to the police officer who died as “slain”?

Now there is a suicide to add to the death toll “caused by Trump”.

It astounds me the number of Republicans who already have blamed Trump supporters, and by extension, the president.

I recently watched Clint Eastwood’s Richard Jewell movie. In that movie, a simple check of the timeline would have prevented what happened to Mr. Jewell.

The people who entered the capitol building did so before the president was through speaking to his supporters.

The damage to the building was so great, that they were able to go right back in there, once the time for any testimony on voter fraud had passed.

Cancel culture was already off rails; saying it has now jumped the shark doesn’t do justice to the insanity of what is happening.

How long until Biden resurrects the Transpacific Partnership? That’s has to be high on the to-do lists of his string-pullers. Censorship justified by social unrest (real or invented) would provide useful cover for a TPP Redux.

It’s all so tiresome. One wonders if the truth will ever come out. Scrolled through Jim’s paintings to lift my spirits a little. I really like them a lot.

    • BackRowHeckler January 11, 2021 at 3:34 pm #

Sure, the NYTs and CNN are digging for the truth right now; they have their top reporters on it, LoL!

      • Sean Coleman January 11, 2021 at 4:44 pm #

Talking of CNN, a young Irish reporter with them, Donie O’Sullivan, was reporting from the Capitol. He came out with the usual silly cliches about the protesters being taken in by a fake election fraud story. I over heard a couple of sentence from the other room. Unlike my wife I avoid RTE and the rest. The local priest in his hometown in Kerry, Cahersiveen (spelt Cahirciveen on the sign at the other end of the high street) spoke admiringly of O’Sullvan’s success and how we was an exampe for young people in the area to head to the top. (She was wathing the mass online; I usually watch mine from Syracuse – always 28 minutes). The young man is an air-head. My sister in law is friendly with his mother, American-born but went to school in Kerry. Most of my US cousins vote Democrat, even Tom, who was an artillery major in Vietnam. I told hiim they were insane.

    • snagglepuss January 11, 2021 at 5:43 pm #

I hope your comment is not referencing mine, nor the one further in the thread where the word ‘Troll” is used.

My comment that it’s all so tiresome was not meant as a commentary on the posters here. What is tiresome is the relentless efforts of the left to demonize Trump. There have been so many hopeful signs that some sort of ‘Truth’ would be exposed about the dishonesty of the left, that someone would step forward and blow the whistle. But it never happens. That’s what is tiresome.

FYI, “Mountain gal”…I actually live in the mountains. Real ones. Think Banff if you need a reference. And ” Our troll’s stupid comment ” is exactly the kind of nonsense that comes out of a real trolls mouth.

If your comment was meant for me, allow me to respond accordingly and just say “GFY”. Jim taught me that was ok to use on his blog!

  25. Beryl of Oyl January 11, 2021 at 11:03 am #

An interesting piece from the Market Ticker guy, about how we are putting Communists in the White House.

Here is his definition of Communism, and it isn’t an economic one:

“Communism is a type of organization of political power in which those who are in The Party are entitled to do whatever they wish; the alleged “laws” within that political area apply only to those who are not in The Party. The above, that of private property and contractual rights to set the terms of one’s labor, is one of the public and visible manifestations of this but is not the central point nor the goal of it.”

I can’t argue with that. How long have we been seeing it? Not just that the party members don’t have to obey any laws, they get to decide who else gets to break laws, based on their whims.

He goes on to say this:

“Do recall that we nominated and are about to inaugurate a President and Vice-President who between them:

Literally sucked and ****ed their way to political power. This isn’t a salacious charge it’s admitted by the person who got the sucking and did the ****ing, who has disavowed said person (Harris).

Literally smoked joints while prosecuting those who were also smoking joints and threw the other people in prison for it. (Harris again)

Literally shielded his son from the just consequences of consuming a wildly illegal substance in a rental car, leaving not only irrefutable evidence (a used glass pipe full of residue) behind but also his identification in said vehicle, proving that it was he who was in the car and consuming said substances, all of which are felonies in that state. (Biden)

On the manifest weight of the evidence the FBI and DOJ have had in their possession proof, in the form of a laptop drive image, of felony conduct involving children with said family member and evidence that the remaining members of the family knew about and did not report same to the authorities. In other words, the manifest weight of the evidence is that the parents of at least one said involved minor intentionally prevented the law from being enforced. (Biden again.) There is, apparently, on said laptop multiple other images that nobody dare display because they are per-se illegal child pornography. The FBI had this evidence in their hands a year prior to the election and intentionally did nothing with it.

On the manifest weight of the evidence both the Ukraine and China bribed, through the provision of funds to a member of the Biden family of which a piece, 10% it is said, was directly funneled to Joe Biden himself. At least one of the trips to China involving said member of the family took place on an official US Government aircraft, Air Force 2. The person bribed had no specific nor general business experience that qualified them to have anything to do with the ventures in question; their only rational reason to employ said person was their direct connection to the Vice President of the United States.
And in nine days these two Party Members will become President and Vice-President.”
    https://market-ticker.org/akcs-www?post=241211

I never quite thought of it in those terms. I did see the Communism, but I thought of certain situations in terms of being rackets, rather than in terms of being favored by the Party. Of course they are.

Ah yes, hope as portrayed by JHK doth spring eternal.

And yet…we are asked to have continuing faith in the likes of…Barr, Durham, Flynn and Co. Not to mention the Golden Golem himself. But…saith the quizzical, “We hear the buzzing bees yet see no honey. Where is the honey?” Or, in the paraphrasing of one of our greatest poets, “He floats like a butterfly with a neutered sting”.

There of course COULD be much secret stuff to be unveiled and yet, we still wait and wait and wait for it. And this begs the question, why was such not released long before now? Perhaps the “plan” though it’s difficult to use Trump and “plan” in the same sentence, is too release heretofore classified info and issue pardons on the eve of 1-20-2021 just in time to put the baddies in their place. Who knows?

We are in the midst of a bad novel starring antiheroes galore. Or, this too shall pass, with a whimper.

For now, all is guesswork and we should be aware and stay safe.

Its endless baloney. Wikileaks/FISA/Benghazi Hearings/Barr and on and on, they were all about to take the Democrats down, hard, and none of those things or people led to any significant legal or political action that hurt the Democratic Party at all. Reviewing Trump’s charge to the group, there was no mention of insurrection, only peace in his words. This is just another example of the rabid Dems and RINOs using conjecture and BS to try to take down Trump.

It was all false. Remember, see, Wikileaks was gonna take ALL the Dems down man. . .whoops, nope, but these Benghazi hearings were gonna do the trick. . .wrong again, but see, FISA was gonna take them all down. . .oh, that was phoney baloney, but see Barr was gonna take All The Dems Down. . .enough with the wild rumors about big things that are about to happen to the Democrats but never actually do. One of the more incredible things I’ve read (or seen) is that Trump’s presidency was a military operation from the beginning–that key people in the military ASKED him to run so they could get leverage to take down the Deep State actors.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8-tCrgiIC8

Not sure how much weight to give that theory, but it’s intriguing. In any case, we at least have a firm deadline to learn whether it’s true.

    • benr January 11, 2021 at 12:20 pm #

I have heard that rabbit hole as well.
I seriously doubt there is any truth to it.
The same group of people also talked endlessly about water marks on ballots and nothing came of it.
I do know getting anything into the court system is tedious and slow.

They also talked at length about military tribunals which as far as my knowledge goes can’t apply to civilians unless martial law is declared.

Absent a declaration of martial law, United States civilians cannot be prosecuted under a system of military law (Reid v. Covert, 354 U.S. 1) (1957) (holding unconstitutional the trial by military court of a civilian woman for murdering her husband in the military).

I am not sure why both sides love to engage nonsense and untruth.

There will come a time when a tipping point is reached where those on the Right outweigh or outnumber those on the Left. This will inevitably happen because the Left has been compelled to reveal its true nature through its efforts to destroy the Trump populist movement. Once the momentum is on the Right the whole facade of lies woven by the Left will collapse like a house of cards…

Jim, I’ve enjoyed the ride. Your movement away from the Blue Party of old is a mirror of my own awakening to the evil machinations that have overtaken the current iteration of Democrats. I voted for Obama in his first term which is an indication of the depth of my own personal political delusion. And it isn’t like I’m some Republican convert, as I see through the charade put up by the many Rhinos that are as corrupt as those on the left.
In my mind, while it was startling that SCOTUS refused 17 states petition for redress, it was far more startling and confusing that Rep lead legislatures in the key states REFUSED to exercise their right to call a full investigation of their state’s election before they sent their electors to the final certification. That refusal mystified me and still does. It was the final nail in the election and if you ask any Dem on the street they will state that there was no stolen election or election fraud for if there had been evidence then SCOTUS would have taken it up or the individual states (many with Rep Governors and Sec of States) would have called for investigations, recounts, signature verification, audits of voting machines, etc.
Now you move to a finale with the GG of Gothem calling down a wrath of righteousness on the insurgents by means of the Insurrection Act at the 11th hour. Sort of like how the God of Israel took out 180,000 Assyrians overnight as they were about to take Jerusalem into captivity. Perhaps I lack your great faith or perhaps I have a notion that America deserves what appears to be coming down the line, never-the-less, I have enjoyed with great gusto your blog all the way along regardless of the outcome.

By the way, the last painting that you put up is impressive.

    • Redneck Liberal January 11, 2021 at 1:51 pm #

Re: the Red State legislatures & election verification – the closest and most likely to have been reversed was, clearly, Georgia. Both Governor Kemp & SOS Raffensperger are Trump & GOP loyalists to the bone.

Kemp, as previous SOS (2012 – 2018) did a tremendous job on voter suppression, and kept Stacey Abrams out of office by a whisker.

      https://www.americanprogress.org/issues/democracy/reports/2018/11/20/461296/voter-suppression-2018-midterm-elections/

So, these guys would, I strongly suspect, would have LOVED for Trump to have won, esp. Georgia, but as corrupt as they are, they simply couldn’t FIND the fabled fraud. Recounts, audits & all, they couldn’t even ‘manufacture’ any evidence of fraud.

Of course, in the fevered brain of the CT Nutjob community, this simply means they “are in on it”, with the likes of crazies Powell & Wood doubling down.

Now, the denial of the facts has risen to the hysterical shrieking, such as we see here, and the last-ditch, desperate belief that Trump is about to arise, glorious & Phoenix-like, and smite the evil globalist commie/Vatican mafia.

One side is crazy. If you don’t realise it’s YOUR side, that’s simply a symptom of how far faced up you’ve become.

      • Tekapo January 11, 2021 at 3:09 pm #

“So, these [Republican] guys would, I strongly suspect, would have LOVED for Trump to have won, esp. Georgia, but as corrupt as they are, they simply couldn’t FIND the fabled fraud. Recounts, audits & all, they couldn’t even ‘manufacture’ any evidence of fraud.”

Yes – I agree – and this is one of the key bases for my strong scepticism that there was election fraud in the six swing states. The other three factors would be:

        1. Many polls showed Joe Biden ahead, for weeks and months*
        2. If the fraud really was on – why not do it properly, and have more Democrat Reps and Senators win tight races they lost?
        3. If the fraud was on – then a lot of Republicans down-ballot have been elected by the same fraudulent means – and I doubt this has happened

        * I don’t accept that polling was Biden-biased and part of any rigging or scam … and there is no evidence that fewer people vote for a candidate who is behind in the polls – it can lead to the reverse in fact.

But overall, nobody has made a case that can stand up in court to demonstrate that the election was fraudulent. And many of the 60 cases were thrown out on substantial grounds of lack of evidence | lack of merit … they were not all thrown out on technicalities such as lack of standing.

The case brought by Texas (and the 17 other AGs) was doomed to failure on just about every ground – especially standing, apart from strong principles of states’ rights, and states’ responsibility to run their own elections.

Almost every reasonably legal pundit said beforehand that the case was doomed and unwinnable … it was not the case that the Supreme Court was weak or inattentive.

My scepticism about election fraud is matched by my scepticism that there is going to be any military or other extra-legal exercises by Donald Trump in this final week.

The closing of DC air-space was brief and a relatively routine response to something unidentified, and was soon resolved. The deployment of 6,000 national guard types is not to haul Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer off to Gitmo, but rather to protect the capital (and maybe the capitol) over the next ten days.

I don’t believe there is a Trump surprise in the offing – I suspect there aren’t any military forces that would support him in any of these “political” disputes … they have effectively said so publicly, and I expect they have said so much more firmly privately.

I think impeachment and 25th Amend are pointless at this stage, but I also think Trump somehow prevailing is impossible too … he has no power and insufficient support inside the beltway.

If you have been around true psychopaths and malignant narcissists, you would recognize the behavior we are seeing now.

The problem is that the Don won’t concede and everyone now knows that the election was stolen, as enough information has made its way to the public via social media, etc.

The psychopaths cannot contain their rage and this causes them to overreach, often in spectacular fashion.

Now, everything must be banned. Trump supporters hunted, and the President impeached or tossed out with only 10 days.

This is why I always say that from an entertainment point of view, narc rage is the best rage. Google past contributions from Majella or Green Alba to observe in a microcosm.

Kemp and Raffensperger are both deep state lackeys. The evidence is plain, with video, affidavits, eye witness accounts, just as in the other battleground states. The whole system and the vast majority of people in it are totally corrupt, from the executive, legislative all the way to the supreme court. There will be hell to pay. Wait for it , it is coming.

Saying a lie often enough can influence people’s beliefs – just look around here: 4 years of Trump lies and this election narrative started at least 3 months prior to the election, and the result is delusion everywhere.

I saw a clip last night that reported that the Proud Boys & Boogaloo Boys think Trump has ‘betrayed’ them with all this ‘be peaceful’ bullshit. According to the most rabid MAGAts, as represented by these guys, Trump is now a ‘deep state lackey’.

Eisenhower warned us, 60 years ago via a TV address, about the Military/Industrial Complex. Supposedly, he scratched out the word “Congressional” from his speech script (was supposed to be “Military/Industrial/Congressional Complex).

In my opinion, he omitted other key players: Intelligence/Security (CIA, etc.) and Law Enforcement (FBI, etc.).

And, over the span of these 60+ years, their system or network has become more sophisticated and enlarged.

It very well may be that CIA, NSA, and other intelligence agencies–some, who’s existence and names we might not even know–are the top of the hierarchy. Obviously the US military hierarchy are part of this group or network (Pentagon, Joint Chiefs of Staff). I don’t believe that there is anything “evil” about our news media or our social media. I believe that they have been commandeered by the US Intelligence community and are being directed in their actions, i.e., if Zuckerberg, Darcy, Bezos, and the rest of Big Tech want to continue to own and run their businesses they must cooperate, and the same goes for LA and NY Times, WaPo, CNN, NBC, CBS, Fox, etc. and the same goes for Academia and Hollywood… and to a very large degree, Congress.

US Intelligence / Security / Military / Industrial / Law Enforcement Complex might be a more accurate name or description for our problem. And, Wall St., News Media, Soc Media, Academia, Hollywood, Sports are just tools in their toolbox. Add the Globalist movement, Party of Davos, and billionaire oligarchs to the mix and we have a very interesting stew. I would think that many of these powerful groups have different agendas or importances to one degree or another, so their isn’t any sort of perfect harmony going on here.

I believe that this whole takeover and power struggle has accelerated over these years due to the Nationalist/Populist movements that have sprung up in the world (Reagan, Perot, Paul, and Trump symbolized this movement for the USA). The concepts of a sovereign nation-state, a Democratic Republic, Nationalism, Economic Nationalism, our Constitution and Bill of Rights do not fit into their collective agendas, and are an impediment that must be removed in order for these groups to achieve their respective goals.

And, so it goes, we continue on with the story of Earth: ignorance, immorality, oppression, lust for power and control, corruption, greed, opposition, violence, revolution, and war. And, FAKE religion, medicine, mental health, and education just adds more confusion and upset to the mix. Thus, through the ages we have been continuously cancelling out and/or destroying each other’s creations.

I believe that there is an answer or resolution for our universal conundrum. It is here, somewhere. Yet, we need to be honest, determined, and diligent to find it.

    • vengeur January 11, 2021 at 1:50 pm #

Banning Trump from social media was and is wrong. The owners of those platforms should not be guardians of our morals. Trump is clearly able to continue performing his duties, so the 25th is out of the question. However, he also clearly incited his supporters to ignore the constitution and to fight like hell to subvert the will of the voters. I don’t know, therefore, how JHK can think that Trump wants to uphold the constitution even if he understands his duty to do so.

It’s also pretty clear that Trump lost the vote, with little evidence, if any, of widespread fraud.

Mike Roberts– It’s not ‘pretty clear’ to me. In fact, there’s abundant evidence of fraud — and I’m not going to waste any time cataloging it for you now. I support Mr. Trump because I am an enemy of the Democratic Party and it’s ‘Woke’ tyrannical hysteria. JHK Admin

Having said that, I can only think that JHK’s continued support of this madman might be a bluff because he can see that insurrection might be the only way to bring this crumbling civilisation to a much quicker end than he was contemplating in The Long Emergency. I would definitely have some sympathy for that line even if I couldn’t bring myself to even pretend to believe what that madman says.

It is interesting how those who are well known for intelligence, analytical ability, wide reading, knowledge of languages, critical thinking, etc.—general high IQ–are suddenly treated like naive, credulous dolts when they start to really dig and delve and questions the orthodoxies of THE LEFT!!

I have experienced this. Not that I rate myself a genius. But most of my friends have rated me pretty smart! Yet as soon as I started to question the covid-19 and the mainstream Trump narrative—mainly, when I pointed out that the USA’s problems did not start wtih DJT and in fact many of our current problems gestated and were born under Clinton and Obama—that was it! Suddenly I am stupid and people who used to take my views seriously just insult me with labels such as “Trump supporter” and use this patronizing, pitying tone to inform me that I have lost my way completley and have no idea what I am talking about. “Trump supporter”!!

This syndrome has been spotted in lots of alternative corners of the Web. Now, suddenly our host, James Kunstler, is transformed from a splendid fellow into an idiot. I wonder whether commenters who express that point of view have considered the possibility that glueing themselves to the Dem Party and MSM rhetoric has transformed THEM into idiots???

I think what he thinks is that he’s been so profoundly wrong all through this last election cycle that it’s just too late to admit it.

    • Mike Roberts January 12, 2021 at 7:50 pm #

Let me try again, JHK, since my comment was removed for some unknown reason. One of my points in that comment was that support for person A because one is against some organization that person A does not belong to, is not much of a reason for that support.

Also, saying you’re not going to waste your time cataloging the evidence now. Why would that be a waste of time? Are you planning to do it in another post? Perhaps you think that those, who aren’t already in the know, would just ignore the catalog? Well, all I can say is I wouldn’t and you can choose to believe that or not. I can see that a few people who I had respect for have chosen to throw their lot in with Mr Trump, so I think there must be a good reason and I’ve tried to find it. So far, without success.

It is important to have that catalogue. I thought JHK had provided a list of alleged fraud situations at this blog, but now I cannot find it.

I wish I had copied the list but now I really need it. A few friends in Europe are asking me about it, in any case I think it has to be archived somewhere secure. Like in a printout in my desk drawer.

If anyone knows of a good “catalogue” of this evidence please provide some info here. Thanks in advance!

      Islander

      • Mike Roberts January 14, 2021 at 4:30 am #

Fred Upton, a Republican congressman from Michigan, says Trump has shown no proof of his claims of widespread fraud. I guess Upton is probably not a regular reader here but he might also benefit from a catalog of evidence, given that many commenters here say there is so much of it. Upton voted to impeach. I’m sure he, and the other 9 Republicans will get it in the neck from some commenters here, for daring to blame Trump for inciting the riot.

    1. The presence of Confederate flags at the Trump rally clearly indicates the character of many of his supporters.

    2. Trump’s career has been a series of stumbles into failure and recoveries financed by his indulgent father. He is an accidental survivor of his blunders, the latest of which resulted in an assault on the Capitol.

    3. Trump’s supporters mistake his clumsiness and belligerence for solidarity with common folk, but he has nothing but contempt for those he calls “losers.”

    4. The energy that propelsTrump’s followers is the energy of hatred. It is a blind hatred that wants to tear down the establishment, with no notion of how to reform it.

        • Mike Roberts January 12, 2021 at 7:56 pm #

I’m talking about his behavior in appointing family members, blowing the security budget to go golfing in Florida, rubbishing the advice of health authorities, etc. As for the economy, it can be argued about its being the best ever and his tax cuts mostly benefited the rich, though I applaud his brief attempt to get $2000 checks to folks. Funnily enough, that last one was something wholly supported by the Democrats but Trump’s party wanted nothing to do with.

          I certainly have rational faculties.

“Confederate flags are merely quaint symbols of love of country…”

I am sure this is true for some flagwavers. Not all. But those some need are not getting the memo. That being, for plenty of your fellow citizens there is nothing quaint about this flag at all. And you are making them uncomfortable, for no good reason.

I may not think wearing a mask indoors in my town on account of covid is going to save me from anything. But if i don’t wear one, i will be making plenty of my fellow townspeople uncomfortable. Why would a healthy person want to do that? So i wear a mask. Because it ain’t just about me.

And that’s the memo these flag wavers aren’t getting. It ain’t just about them and their supposed desire to show how quaint they are.

I have no problem with fiscal conservatism, non-interventionist policy, states rights. I do have a problem with neo-fascism, and Christian evangelicals like Jim Bakker telling their flock that God wants you to vote for the most talented, famous, intelligent person, I don’t know, possibly of all time, I mean, a lot of people are saying it, cue small hands playing invisible accordion.

As I understand it, aside from the app being dropped from Google Play and threatened by Apple, its lawyers ditched it followed very quickly by a whole bunch of businesses sponsoring it and buying ads.

When AWS said “Nah…” THAT was the actual end of it.

That sounds like at least four+ actual capitalist businesses that really didn’t want to be associated with it any longer. Is that not their prerogative?

Parts of Highway 126 from Santa Clarita to Ventura still have that orange grove appeal.
Can’t help but wish Disneyland was still lemon and orange groves.
        What a waste.
Parts of Southern and eastern Ventura and northern Oxnard are still all fields of various crops.
Nice to drive through there on a warm spring day.

          Ben,

One of my best friends is a dentist in Irvine, California. Southern California is a very beautiful place. I visited it many times. In many ways the coast reminds me of Israel, especially the fauna, with the Eucalyptus trees the Pine trees the sun the sand and the beaches.

The US has a lot going for itself, but it forgot how to be a family. You allowed the commie worms and the fascists to multiply and take over, and they’ve eaten all the cohesion of the culture and society. It’s way past due to be rid of them all, and not allow them any kind of indulgences.

        • Islander January 12, 2021 at 12:15 am #

Akmofo: Like you think Israel belongs to you?

It doesn’t. You and your tribe stole it from the Palestinians.

Just as colonists and settlers stole California from Native Americans. No wonder you look for common ground with Californians by admonishing them not to let anyone take it from them.

You are projecting your unconscious acknowledgment that you stole Israel and you can never rest because the real owners will never give up their fight.

I would say go back to Israel but you don’t belong there, so probably Go back to Brooklyn, or Russia, makes more sense.

          • akmofo January 12, 2021 at 1:41 am #

            Islander,

Arabs are from Arabia. Arabia is 2000 km south east of Israel. The word Palestine doesn’t even exist in Arabic. There is no letter P in Arabic. The word Palestine is unpronounceable in Arabic. That’s how scandalous the false MSM Vatican narrative you parrot is. Palestine is nothing more than a Satanic Roman Vatican creation to deny the Jewish God the Jewish people and their Jewish land.

Jews lived in Israel already for THOUSANDS of years before the Roman Vatican was created, THOUSANDS of years before the current “European” barbaric tribes invaded Europe from Turkmenistan (yes, “Aryans” are fscking Turks), and THOUSANDS of years before word Arab or Islam was ever coined.

Whether you’re an ignorant or deliberately malicious Vatican Jihadistani turd, is irrelevant. The fact remains, you’re a Vatican Jihadistani turd.

          • Islander January 13, 2021 at 11:50 am #

Poor old Akmofo actually believes the poisonous “history” he spits out.

            It is a myth.
The Bible is mainly myth, and what historical materials it does contain do not support the Jewish narrative.

BTW the word “Jew” is a fairly recent coinage.

Certainly doesn’t go back any thousands of years.

The Jewish cult was basically “created” in Babylon in ca. 500 BC. Any dolt knows that.

          • akmofo January 13, 2021 at 1:43 pm #

Abraham bought the land in Hebron, Israel, 4000 years ago. Moses is dated to 3500 years ago. King David and the Jewish Kingdom is dated to 3000 years ago. The “Muslim Arab” invasion occurred 2000 years later. It was neither Muslim nor Arab. The sand pirate pederast and mass murderer of the Koran “Muhmud” (Muhmud being just a title and not a name back then) was in reality a Persian governor by the name Iyas Ibn Qabisha al-Tai. The fictions lies and Islamic propaganda described in the Koran wasn’t scribed until hundreds of years later, at about 1000 AD. Two thousand years after the Jewish kingdom of King David. Unlike you, I know my history and I know it very well.

Israel is one of the most ancient nationality on the planet. Thousands of years more ancient than anything existing in the area today, including todays “Egyptians” who are not Egyptians at all, but a foreign mixture of Greeks Arabs Turks and Sudanese Black Africans. There’s nothing about these people that’s Egyptian — not the language, not the culture, not the religion, and not the genetics. Nothing.

As to the Arabs now residing in Israel, they are all very recent arrivals that arrived in Israel as land labourers during the creation of the Zionist project. They were used as additional hands when Jews started to cultivate the land, and that’s what they are still today.

Anti-Jewish Nazi Vatican propaganda meant to incite these Arabs against Israel via a fake made up Imperial Roman fictional nationality, will not succeed. In fact, many of them have now started voting for the Israeli Likud Party, the most Jewish Nationalist Party on the Israeli political spectrum.

Israel is a temporary boil on the ass of the Middle East. There will still be an Egypt and an Iran long after the desert sands have covered up any sign that it once existed.

      • akmofo January 14, 2021 at 12:06 am #

There is no Egypt. It is a fiction held together by tyrannical dictatorship. Same as Syria, same as Iraq, same as Iran, etc.

Iran is an empire where together the minority tribes outnumber the majority tribe. They all want to secede. Iran’s great fortune are its mountains. But when the oil runs out, even the mountains will cease to protect it, and it will naturally break apart into ethno tribal areas, as all tyrannical empires do.

  67. Pucker January 11, 2021 at 7:28 pm #

It looks like Trump has been banned from everything, except for Telegram. Even Parler is down. It’s like one of those Banana Republic coups. Do you remember the Woody Allen movie “Bananas”? Woody Allen plays the character “Fielding Mellish”, a failed “Black Studies” major in college working as products tester who goes to the crap Latin American country of San Carlos to join the Revolution lead by a Che Guevara look alike because he has the Hots for a college coed (played by Mia Farrow) who is enamored with Leftist idealism.

Hollywood banned Woody Allen ostensibly because he is a “misogynist”. Poor Woody….

Trump’s last message on January 9th on Telegram reads:

“ To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.”

Jim, at some point you are going to have to admit that there is no excuse for continue to back this blight on not just the USA, but on humanity itself, called “Trump.” Can you do this, or are you as utterly graceless as he is in the end? It’s okay to admit your head is up your ass. And advisable to pull it out.

As bad as seeing how the cheese has slid off your cracker, is witnessing your sycophants in this comments section. (And too few exceptions.) It reminded me of commentary on the criminal mob that stormed the whitehouse the other day. How they are not simply deeply confused would-be defenders of the party, but rather, Trump’s disciples. In their worldview, all that has to happen for something to be true, is for Trump to say it.

Just like comments section on your blog. All that has to happen to make something true for your sycophants is for you to write it. I hope this disgusts you. I have a feeling it does, given how infrequently you weigh in here. At least THIS is a good sign. That you’d prefer to maintain a distance from these wingnuts.

The Golden gollem of greatness had his value, he highlighted the corruption of the resistance, the federal agencies, the corporate media, both wings of the uniparty, and even friends and neighbors.

The only reason many of us voted for him was because the DNC put up such sorry corrupt candidates, and when they put up the latest “booby prize” the only way for them forward was corruption and Dominion.

I’ve held my nose and voted for many years, stopped voting during W and Obama, but just could not even stand the thought of having that bitch and this senile ole bastard as POTUS.

The DNC has no one to blame but themselves for Trump and the deplorables. If anyone should be cited for insurrection it should be our representatives and agencies in DC, for vile creatures like them deserves to be puked on.

  69. MaryV January 11, 2021 at 8:47 pm #

No matter the outcome, and I truly hope Trump is up to something (and I think he is – not being a quitter and all), Nancy Pelosi the old lush and her stinking fascist crew will be exposed and shamed nationally. That’s why she’s gone unhinged, spending time while people suffer from Democrat lockdowns trying to impeach Trump again. She’s crazy. And desperate. She’s acting like a cornered animal, not like someone who ‘won’.

Ask yourself why are the Democrats going bananas while conservatives stay pretty much calm?

They won’t, though, if Trump can’t or won’t come through for a second term. Then, it’s show time.

Also? There is rumor that Trump signed something that stops trade with China. That means war. And we are already in a civil war, whether people want to acknowledge it or not. If our massive military is on Trump’s side… guess what?

          • Redneck Liberal January 14, 2021 at 9:18 pm #

Yes. The squeals of pain can be heard all around the White House now that he’s had his ‘tongue cut out’. But then, REAL disaster – all the money faucets have been turned off:

Stripe – processed payments for his “Stop the Steal” grift etc. See ya!

Shopify – handled distribution of all the high-class made-in-PRC tatt his cultists buy & wrap themselves in when marching in insurrection – no longer!

Deutsche – no more millions for the Trump Organization – I guess they’re worried about getting caught up in his looming legal troubles. Smart move.

Signature – the personal banker of D J Trump – no idea what the actual situation is but I understand that he’s got (finally) a limit on his line-of-credit. (You could probably buy your house with what he’s allowed to spend in a week but no doubt he’ll sue the bank for a bigger ‘allowance’.)

And to cap it off, woe of woes…the PGA has pulled the pin on the 2022 Open. I’m guessing if they were to audit his golf scores as he’d like the election audited (including signature verification [which is a thing in golf for those of you not familiar]) they’d uncover abominable fraud! He claims a 3.0 but probably plays off an 18, given how crappy his swing looks.

Our military does not have the ability to handle China’s, or Russia’s, or Iran’s, and we have foolishly driven them together.

There is every reason to fear that the Biden/Harris administration will be foolish enough to take them on, in which case we will get our ass handed to us.

Whatever may happen to Trump’s legacy as president his primal, archetypal mission was accomplished; to bring out in the open how deeply Secular Totalitarianism (the leftist-orientated Deep State) has infiltrated the cultural and social institutions of the West. He accomplished this simply by being someone the Left felt irresistibly compelled to destroy by fair means or foul. Unfortunately for them, in their efforts to destroy him they have inadvertently destroyed their own reputations, while severely damaging the venerable institutions of which they are the current caretakers. From this point forward, although those on the Left may think they are winning, in truth they are losing ground day by day.

Yup. They may have won this battle, but they lost the war. It is over for them. They and all their corrupt institutions and corrupt handmaidens have lost all credibility. They’ve been exposed for the satanic revulsion that they are, and they will go extinct.

  79. Tekapo January 12, 2021 at 2:26 am #

A genuine question (ie, one I really don’t know the answer to – I’m not being rhetorical for the purposes of literary indulgence).

When did the Big Flip occur?

For all my life (since Kennedy was president, roughly), the US state apparatus – now disparagingly called the “Deep State” with capital letters – has been the handmaiden and Praetorian Guard of the ruling class, powerful elites, and their political voice, the Republican Party.

Whether it was involved in white-anting early unions and the AFL-CIO, rooting out commies in the 50s, hounding all manner of hobgoblins under J Edgar Hoover, vehemently attacking hippies, yippies, environmental types, and Anti-Vietnam movements through the 60s, the war on drugs, and liberation or commie movements in many many countries … 95% of its energy was against the Left.

The culmination of much of this was the killings at Kent State University. And then the killing of Salvador Allende in Chile.

The CIA, FBI, the military, the judiciary, Wall Street, Big Banks, Big Business, Big Media … were always seen as tools of the forces of darkness on the right. Muslims became the new bogeyman in the 1990s.

Somehow though all these dark forces are now lumped in with Biden, Harris, Pelosi, the CCP, Big Tech – it’s a long list of deep-staters – and covers everything BUT the Republicans, their donors, and Trump. It has been quite a turn-around.

And it seems to me that many of the social, political, and especially economic travails that MAGA supporters are raging against- are in fact the product of the Republican / conservative side of Washington, not the Democrats.

Huge tax cuts for the rich and attacks on health care and social security do not seem to be policies attractive to the working class. Whatever.

    • SoftStarLight January 12, 2021 at 2:48 am #

I’m not allowing myself to get distracted and thrown into disarray. Your characterization of things makes it sound as if the US is some sort of right wing state and I just simply can’t see it. First, Republican quite often does not equate to Conservative. Whereas Democrat almost always equates to Liberal. So therefore ostensibly Democrats and Republicans more often than not are the liberal, pro-oligarch, pro-elite, status quo. Trump voters are the ones who really embraced the idea of the Deep State and Trump voters are not necessarily Republicans or Democrats.

      • Redneck Liberal January 12, 2021 at 3:34 am #

Havel you EVER lived outside the USA?

      • Tekapo January 12, 2021 at 5:25 am #

“Your characterization of things makes it sound as if the US is some sort of right wing state and I just simply can’t see it.”

Perhaps it is … it’s hard to disagree with the notion that the “Deep State” has gone after the left (and even the very mildest moderates) far more than the right – since about 1917 anyway.

I understand “globalism” fits in this mix too – but even there, it is Big Business that has internationalised their production and influence – and shipped jobs off-shore. And enabled at least as much by Republican administrations (including Congress) as any Democrat one.

But the MAGA people equate the Democrats with globalism, and heaven forbid, the Chinese Communist Party. I think some people perhaps read The Epoch Times far too much!

        • SoftStarLight January 12, 2021 at 10:03 am #

I think more MAGA people associate both Democrats and Republicans with globalism than you may think. The Republicans have generally always been loath to represent MAGA. That is why for the most part the party chose to betray Trump last week. They are principle-less vultures and jackals who are only interested in engorging themselves on the carcass of this country just as the Democrats are.

    • gustafson.robert.22 January 12, 2021 at 6:56 am #

the real “big flip” here is usa democrats abandoning principles of free-speech, hard environmentalism and opposition to corporate oligarchy in favor of pro-business techno-socialism and identity pol…between 1980 and 2020. Trump just very imperfectly and partially filled that vacuum.

Twitter is not in any way, shape or form a “public square”. It is a company, albeit a very large company, but still a company, not the government, that is run by a relatively small number of people. These people, others at “big tech”, other companies and individuals are editing content and choosing sides, based on what they saw on 1/6, as is their guaranteed right based on the First Amendment. They listened to the same speeches and watched the same videos you did on 1/6, and decided, for the most part, the scene displayed was not the side they wanted to be on. You are all now whining apparently because, surprise, surprise, they didn’t choose that side (your side?).

Also, consider the alternative. What if the government had the right to force these companies to carry content that they disagreed with, thought was false, broke the law, or could lead to violence? If you want to read the text of the First Amendment, you’ll see that idea is actually the opposite of the First Amendment.

The truth is, Donald Trump has absolutely no interest in free speech, unless that speech happens to agree with him. Not so with Twitter or Facebook, despite the apocalyptic claims on this blog. You can still get an account on those platforms and post whatever you want and, so long as you don’t break any laws, the worst that might happen is it could be flagged as untruthful. But, sorry, you as an individual are still liable for what you say and any resulting consequences. So, why do you think Trump wants to repeal the Section 230 law? For free speech? No, he wants to open up the companies themselves to liability so that he, as the most powerful person on earth (for a little while longer), could sue them for disagreeing with him, as would then be his right whether or not the lawsuits would ultimately be successful (you’ve been watching the last two months, right?). I wonder what that would do for “free speech” on the internet.

Don’t worry, it won’t be long before another platform pops up to fill the vacuum created as the gas clears from Trump’s Twitter account. Maybe it will even be a platform that is run by Trump himself, if he is true to his word. On that platform, he’ll be able to exercise his First Amendment rights, say anything he wants, and abuse or banish anyone who disagrees with him. It will be beautiful, everyone says so.

    • Night Owl January 12, 2021 at 8:43 am #

They should be open to liability/lawsuit, as they are publishers based on their actions. You cannot be a public square and ban content and posters for political purposes.

That is what the section 230 issue is about.

There is currently no free speech on Twitter, yet via 230, it is given protections that no publisher would or should get.

See how easy it is to dismantle your misinformation?

      • Jerry1927 January 12, 2021 at 10:26 am #

Misinformation? No free speech on Twitter? You have got to be kidding me. Let’s take a simple example. Last week on this blog, there was reference to another idiotic election theory, this one espoused by Maria Zack. Her video is still easily found on Twitter, in spite of your apocalyptic claims of no free speech. Good luck getting that video onto a publisher’s website or it’s content into a newspaper. The fact is that Twitter has far more “free speech” than any newspaper or publisher. The simple reason is because of the section 230 law. If you get rid of that law, these platforms, maybe even this blog, will all instantly disappear because it is simply not possible to police the huge volume of daily content and site owners would not be able to afford dealing with the inevitable lawsuits. I’m all for some kind of reform of the section 230 law, but you can’t simply get rid of it.

See how easy it is to dismantle your misinformation?

          censorship, aka no free speech

          • Jerry1927 January 12, 2021 at 1:49 pm #

First of all, if you are referring to Ayatollah Khomeini, he died in 1989, so I’m pretty sure he isn’t making any posts on Twitter. Perhaps you mean Khameni. Secondly, you are misinterpreting what I’m saying. What I am saying is that Twitter has the right under the First Amendment to control the content of their platform as they wish. I am not saying I defend all of their decisions. For what it’s worth, my opinion based on what I know is that they absolutely should ban Khameni.

My question to you is, do you want them to have the right to make those decisions, or not? Would you rather that the government decide who can and cannot be on Twitter? Would you rather that anyone including Khameni, or known criminals, or child molesters or people calling for violence all be given an equal voice? Obviously you would rather be able to decide yourself, but that’s not an option.

          • Night Owl January 13, 2021 at 4:30 am #

That is the entire argument around 230.

A publisher that bans free speech (like Twitter) deserves no protection.

        • Night Owl January 12, 2021 at 1:06 pm #

You did not dismantle my information, Jerry.

There is no free speech on Twitter, and yet it has protections under 230.

Two major problems, unless Twitter has publisher status.

You don’t get 230 protections and get to be private.

See how easy it was to dismantle your information a second time?

All I had to do was post the same thing.

          • Jerry1927 January 12, 2021 at 1:15 pm #

Twitter has 330M active users. Every second of every day Twitter has approximately 6000 tweets. This blog and platforms like Twitter are the only places that you will ever be likely to be heard. You should be thankful they exist.

Yet the stock is down as people cancel their accounts. Is it a monopoly too or will Trump be allowed to create something similar, except free? Watch people vote with their feet then, “Jerry”.

          • Jerry1927 January 12, 2021 at 2:05 pm #

Night Owl, exactly what is it that you think I’m skirting? You say that they shouldn’t get 230 protections. I say that without 230 protections they will cease to exist or, at the very best, will be far more restrictive of speech than they are now. Do you want there to be Twitter or not? Do you really think that you have some avenue of free speech that, right now, could potentially reach more people than Twitter? If you want there to be Twitter, but you want to get rid of section 230, then suggest what you think the alternative is. Or, explain to me how you think Twitter can survive in an environment without the legal protections of section 230, policing the content of 300M users producing 6000 tweets per second, for which they would then be responsible. I have not conceded anything.

          • Jerry1927 January 12, 2021 at 2:51 pm #

Of course Twitter stock is down. I doubt that they expected anything else, and yet they still decided to ban Trump. As I already said, they chose a side based on what they saw on 1/6, and they are within their rights to do so. There is one thing that companies probably hate more than almost anything else, and that is chaos. What occurred on 1/6 was chaos at the highest possible level of the country. Companies want stability and rule of law. They are making long term decisions and, as I’m sure you’ve seen, it extends way beyond Twitter.

Of course there will be another platform for Trump, as I already said. If he’s as rich as he says (everyone says they can’t believe how much money he has), he’ll do it himself. I do find it hard to believe he would do anything for free though. The interesting question is what “free speech” will look like on his platform. Which voices will be silenced, if any? Which voices has he already indicated he would like to silence? Or will it just be an echo chamber consisting only of his devoted fans? Time will tell.

          • Tekapo January 12, 2021 at 4:02 pm #

“Night Owl, exactly what is it that you think I’m skirting? You say that they shouldn’t get 230 protections. I say that without 230 protections they will cease to exist or, at the very best, will be far more restrictive of speech than they are now. Do you want there to be Twitter or not?”

Yes – I believe that is the key point. Without protection (from some form of s230) then social media forums could not function – logistically or financially.

It would be like holding AT&T legally liable for conspiratorial, criminal, or libelous conversations on their telephone lines.

So the question arises: do millions of Americans (and others) want a hugely powerful technology to shrink or disappear, or are they willing to accept that it isn’t open slather?

The owners of the companies are well within their rights to impose rules and an editorial policy, and let the market decide – if you do not like a particular forum, then go to one you do like.

There is a (oft-repeated) argument that Twitter and Facebook are already so huge that they essentially prevent genuine competition, and that they should be treated as “public property” … but I think this is wishful thinking, at least legally.

The debate of course will always be about how to implement their editorial policy, and where the boundaries are to be drawn. Censoring Holocaust Deniers – tick – censoring Election Fraud Advocates – bad! And on and on and on.

I think there should be legal recourse person-to-person … the First Amendment does not permit libel and lies, if it is injurious to someone else.

If someone on social media calls Hillary Clinton is a corrupt lesbian witch, who cuts the livers out of live Ethiopian children, then she should have the right to sue the writer, and obtain financial and/or criminal penalties.

The degree to which Twitter is partially (or even equally) liable for enabling the comment remains the central issue, it seems to me.

But Donald Trump (and many others) can’t really have it both ways – they want the right to say what they want as if Twitter is a public service and subject to the First Amendment, but how does Twitter behave as a good corporate citizen, and not enable violence, hatred, riots, or whatever?

Of course, one person’s seditious insurrection is another person’s patriotic bid for freedom! Most people support “free speech” when it is speech that they want to hear.

          • Night Owl January 12, 2021 at 5:05 pm #

Twitter is either a publisher with no protection under 230, or it is treated as a public service/forum that adheres to free speech laws and gets 230-related protection.

That is how it works. Your word salads would not be necessary if you dealt with facts.

          • Jerry1927 January 12, 2021 at 8:30 pm #

No, Night Owl, that is not how it works. That is how you would like it to work. You may want to take the trouble to read the section 230 law. Here is a link:

            https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/47/230

In the law, the platforms and users are not to be treated as the publisher or speaker of any content produced by other users. This protects both the platform and anyone who repeats someone else’s content. The platforms are also explicitly given broad leeway to restrict access to content as they see fit, even to the extent of constitutionally protected speech, without liability. There is no provision in the law in which the platforms can ever be considered publishers.

          • Night Owl January 13, 2021 at 4:28 am #

That is why it needs to be done away with Jerry.

Because Twitter is a publisher that restricts access to content.

Public spaces are free to the public, and they allow free speech.

Twitter deserves no promotion or protection from the government.

            Try again.

          • Jerry1927 January 13, 2021 at 7:57 am #

So, you have finally made your position clear. Under current law, Twitter and other platforms have done nothing wrong. You want the law to be repealed. The logical result of repealing the law is that Twitter and most or all online forums will disappear. If you disagree with that, you need an explanation for how they can survive. If they disappear, the result will be less, not more, of the free speech that everyone cherishes. That seems to be the opposite of your goal, so that needs an explanation too.

          • Night Owl January 13, 2021 at 8:07 am #

LOL. Only to a certified media agent could it be unclear.

The entire issue at hand (what Trump wants) is to amend or get rid of 230, because Twitter acts like a publisher by censoring and being anti-free speech.

You showed your hand far too early.

    • SoftStarLight January 12, 2021 at 10:10 am #

All this long post about Twitter and no mention of the heart of the problem. I have to think that this is a distraction. Since the real reality is that there are multiple levels of problems and concerns with Jack Dorsey that only a grand jury can truly investigate and research.

    • B_NOLA January 12, 2021 at 10:48 am #

Take that up with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey who testified to Congress under oath that he and the service’s users consider it to be the “public square”. I’m pretty sure Zuckerberg said the same about Facebook.

They can’t have it both ways.

      • Jerry1927 January 12, 2021 at 11:47 am #

I don’t think he said that he considers Twitter a “public square”, only that the users consider it that. But the fact is, Twitter’s right to control its content however they want is protected by the First Amendment. If it were not, then, for example, soon to be President Biden could force this very blog to post content that refutes its claims of election fraud. I’m guessing that would make most of you very unhappy. On the other hand, for example, this blog’s owner has banned users and deleted content based on his own rules, which is his right. Do commenters here consider this a public square? I think they do.

I am not saying this is a perfect system. What I am saying is that my opinion is that under current law Twitter is within their rights guaranteed by the Constitution to ban any user, including the President of the United States, for any reason, or no reason at all.

        • Yohannon January 12, 2021 at 1:57 pm #

Then the users are wrong, right? And it’s a very imperfect system if Jack (or whoever pulls his strings) can bar any user, including the President of the United States, for any reason, or no reason at all.

Will you listen to yourself? This is commissar level agitprop.

          • Jerry1927 January 12, 2021 at 2:26 pm #

The users are wrong if they think they are not liable for what they say on Twitter, or anywhere else, or if they don’t think that a possible consequence of what they say is that their content will be banned. That’s why I say it really is not a “public square”.
One thing we agree on, is it’s an imperfect system. Why don’t you suggest another one?

Can the President of the United States force a newspaper to print his editorial? I hope that is never the case. Why should Twitter be any different?

There is, of course, the related issue of the section 230 law, which I’ve commented on elsewhere.

          • Yohannon January 12, 2021 at 3:00 pm #

So you’re for a Public Square – with no commie agents hanging around trying to overhear free speech in order to call it “racism” or “sedition”?

Remember the street sweepers and the guys who laid the cement may not like what is said on their square…

          • Jerry1927 January 12, 2021 at 4:08 pm #

Yohannon, that’s a little incoherent, but I will attempt to respond.

I am for everyone being able to exercise their First Amendment Rights, whether it be in a physical public square, printed page, or online. This includes the ability for any platform or newspaper to control their content however they want to. It’s the government that cannot enact a law to control spoken words, printed words or online content. So, if by “commie agents” you actually mean the government, then they are not and should not be allowed to control content.

However, as it always has been, everyone is and should be responsible and potentially liable for what they say. Therefore, either in a physical public square, printed word or online, if someone literally discusses plans for a seditious act, committing or inciting violence, or other criminal activity, I’d be happy to see that person arrested because, like it or not, there are laws against those sorts of things.

On the other hand, if you’re worried that you might not be able to discuss whatever racist views you may or may not have, I fully believe in and support your right to freely discuss them whether or not I agree with them. I believe that the First Amendment provides you the right to do that, and if you haven’t seen that in action, maybe you haven’t found the right websites yet.

          • Yohannon January 12, 2021 at 5:07 pm #

What about the paper companies? Surely they have the right to deny access to their products if they used for seditious purposes?

Merkel disagrees with you. Only the Government has the right and obligation to suppress speech.

          • Jerry1927 January 12, 2021 at 6:14 pm #

Er, OK, I’ll bite. Paper companies and pretty much any other company do not have an obligation to sell their products to anyone, and I wouldn’t blame them for not selling their products to seditionists. What country do you live in?

          • Yohannon January 12, 2021 at 7:01 pm #

Now permit me to execute a judo throw: How does being ruled by a tiny cadre of Oligarchs fulfill your Leftist Idealism of Human Brotherhood, Imaging there’s no Country, and above us only sky?

Or were you always hip enough to know that Coca Cola was the real takeaway from that – and Plutocracy was what you always wanted?

          • Jerry1927 January 12, 2021 at 7:57 pm #

Your comment looks more like gibberish than a judo throw to me. Are we even talking about free speech anymore, or have you officially left planet earth?

Assuming you live in the US, what freedom or opportunity do you want and not have? What are these oligarchs you speak of keeping you from doing or saying? They aren’t keeping me from doing or saying anything. I think you are so far down the rabbit hole that you don’t even recognize the freedom that you have. Instead of complaining that your world is controlled by a cadre of oligarchs, try climbing out from behind your computer screen, going out in the world and actually saying and doing things. You might be pleasantly surprised. But please don’t hurt anybody in the process.

          • akmofo January 12, 2021 at 11:13 pm #

It takes a special moron to not be able to see and understand that we are witness to new dark age of Vatican inquisition. Congratulations, you are that special moron Jerry.

Conservatives/Constitutionalists have lost their ability to communicate at large and have their views be heard. They have been fired from their places of employment because of their views. They are threatened with gov mafia persecution for their views. They are harassed by Nazi Antifa goons. They had their credit and online payments services taken from them. They are viscously intimidated and are basically being made non-persons in our digital society.

It takes a special scumbag to argue differently to these facts, and you are that scumbag, Jerry.

          • Jerry1927 January 13, 2021 at 8:50 am #

Sure, I’ll argue those “facts” differently. I work in a place that has a large share of conservatives. None of them have lost their jobs or been harassed for their views. You cannot tell me otherwise because I choose to believe what I can see with my own eyes, not someone else’s narrative. Also, here’s a hint to avoid getting fired. Most places with any kind of corporate governance strictly prohibit political activity at the workplace. Many people are under the mistaken impression that free speech laws apply at the workplace. They don’t. So don’t carry your Trump (or Biden) flag into the office.

I also saw that, prior to the pandemic, unemployment was at historic lows. So, what was happening at that time, mass layoffs of poor mistreated conservatives, or both conservatives and liberals alike having jobs? How about after the pandemic? Did only conservatives have their businesses shut down? Did only conservatives lose their jobs? You are the victim of a false narrative fed to you for the purposes of your vote and your money.

What did you see on 1/6? I saw a lot of people who I would not define as “conservatives” break into the Capitol Building, beat law enforcement officers with the American flags that they held, and ransack the building. They were motivated by words from the President of the United States. Every single one of them that entered the Capitol Building broke the law and knew they were doing so. Should they lose their jobs? Yes. Should they be in prison? Yes. Apologies not accepted.

By the way, if you want to make an argument that helps what you view as your side, you should dispense with the name calling. That actually detracts from whatever point you are trying to make.

          • akmofo January 13, 2021 at 9:57 am #

Here are some more FACTS for you Jerry:

            The US Supreme Court: Marsh v. Alabama, 326 U.S. 501 (1946).

            Quote:

The corporation cannot curtail the liberty of press and religion of these people consistently with the purposes of the Constitutional guarantees. Ownership does not always mean absolute dominion. Thus, the owners of privately held bridges, ferries, turnpikes and railroads may not operate them as freely as a farmer does his farm. The corporation can no more deprive people of freedom of press and religion than it can discriminate against commerce.

            ==

Not only was what Twitter did and Facebook Apple Google Amazon fundamentally unAmerican and indecent, it was unconstitutional and clearly illegal as ruled by the US Supreme Court in 1946.

Furthermore, what we were also witness to was a coordinated racketeering mafia attack against Parler and its customer base. And nevermind that all these fascist mega corporations are giant monopolies and should have been long ago dismantled, with real completion and multiple real alternatives made available to the public.

  83. Mountain gal January 12, 2021 at 8:24 am #

Ok, so I’ve been giving this some more thought and here’s what I think, for what it’s worth. I think that people who are waiting for Trump to pull a rabbit out of the hat at the eleventh hour are waiting in vain. Not gonna happen. Just like those who sincerely believed Pence would refuse to certify the vote. It didn’t happen of course.

I doubt very much that Pence will invoke the 25th either so the Dems are waiting in vain for that to occur but there is no credible basis for him to do so; not gonna happen. That leaves the House with impeachment which I’m sure they will do but so what? Nothing will happen to Trump at this point from it and the Senate won’t deal with it prior to Biden’s inauguration anyway.

I honestly doubt Trump is invoking any sort of Insurrection Act, Martial Law or any of those things people keep positing. I don’t think he is any more in control of the military than he has been his whole time in office, and perhaps even less so now.

Biden WILL be inaugurated President. Yes, I know they cheated and that’s not fair but truly, the Dems don’t care about fair anymore so long as they are the victors. The Right has been slow at learning this, thus why they allowed MSM and tech to build out the leftist infrastructure that has now turned on and silenced the right. We need to learn something from this.

We need to move on. This isn’t helping. We’ve run out of options for turning this around. We need to build a communications and media structure that gives Conservatives a voice that can’t be arbitrarily silenced. We need to work on ensuring fair elections which clearly isn’t the case anymore. Punishing those such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, Amazon, Apple and their ilk for their actions should be a priority; stop feeding them and stop using them as much as possible.

Talk of armed insurrections at state capitals is not helpful. If these occur it will not go well. The right has to decide if they want to go all-out loot/burn like ANTIFA and BLM or not. Halfway measures won’t work. The left isn’t afraid of us as opposed to even the SCOTUS supposedly being afraid to provoke the left such that they start burning cities again. So do we descend to that level? Or find another non-violent way in which to operate? Choices need to be made. Fantasies aren’t helping though.

    • scrooge January 12, 2021 at 9:20 am #

Secede, start to negotiate now. It can be done peacefully. Your side does not want to certify the election. Just call a truce for now and get to work.

Then you can create the utopia of your dreams. Your side will be free of us godless commies with our free healthcare and education. Fair housing rules and what not. It will be fun. I’m sure your tired of being the victim of evil satanic demorats.

I guess the free education is the one where apostrophes are considered a luxury. 🙂

Sorry, just pulling your leg …

“I’m sure we can figure out a way to provide free healthcare.”

That’s easy. You provide 10 years of medical education for nothing (in free universities and teaching hospitals where lecturers don’t have families to feed). Then you pay the doctors with chickens. And get them to work in free buildings built, maintained and insured by the healthcare fairies. And don’t forget that old medical indemnity thingy. Chickens won’t cover that and I hear Americans are very litigious. And you can’t force people to become doctors, which is worth remembering. It’s not like jury duty.

Southend Hospital in England had to cut the amount of oxygen it was giving to its Covid patients the other day to the lowest safe amount, because it was overwhelmed by demand. Even breathing isn’t necessarily free.

Healthcare, education and ‘fair housing’ are never ‘free’.

My country has a healthcare system where necessary treatment is free at the point of use, although you can go private if you so choose. To say I value it would be the understatement of the century. But to say it is ‘free’, without any qualification, would make me somewhat dumb. You don’t get ‘free’ anything from an economy based on reading each other’s chit-chat and selling each other fancy coffee either.

‘Where there’s muck there’s brass’, as they used to say here, before ‘brass’ became less solid and more ephemeral.

All that talk of armed insurrections at the state capitals has purposely been put out there by the FBI. I am sure the DNC and the Democrat officials are behind it since obviously the FBI has never appeared so busy. They don’t do anything to protect the country but look how quickly they jump to suppress and oppress domestic political dissent. This is probably part of the Elite’s plan to disarm the population. They are purposely manufacturing this to take away gun rights IMO. On all the sites I go to I have seen people posting specifically not to go to any of these protests since it is nothing more than an FBI false flag operation.

Using Trump as the scapegoat, but effective bringing on the Uniparty.

It is over for the Right, only secession or rebellion will allow the Right to continue to exist.

Some good ideas here. As far as I can tell, all of that talk is coming from the Deep State. They want a false flag so they can take away our guns.

That being said, do you really think all fighting is the same? That the Founding Fathers, who were no pacifists, were no better than Antifa or BLM? Sad if so. Zionist fighters were heroes, right? And the Arabs defending their lands were vermin. That’s how we saw it here in regards to the Indians. That’s what created the United States.

Yes, sometimes fighting is necessary. But not the pitiful cf that happened at the Capital, with weirdos wearing horns, someone walking off with Pelosi’s lectern, killing a cop who was actually a Trump supporter and vet etc. I’m not a pacifist as I know sometimes it must go beyond that. And I fully support the Zionists as they/we have long known that pacifism isn’t going to do anything there. But if the Right is intent on using force to take back our country, this is not the way to go about it.

The first place to start imho, is to take back our media and tech. We need to build platforms that don’t muzzle conservative voices. Ditch Facebook, WhatasApp, Twitter,Google, YouTube, Amazon etc ; any corporate entity that has banned Trump and other conservatives. Ditch the corporations such as Walmart that are busily backpedaling and revoking contributions to Republicans. I don’t think corporate contributions to ANY politician is a good idea, but especially not if they play favorites.

There were over 70 million who voted for Trump and probably many who didn’t vote but do support conservative causes. That’s a lot of people dumping the lefts tech platforms and MSM. That will hit them in their wallet; good place to start.

And they were the first to decorate his curio cabinet.

They return from their banishment to NGO’s, private sector sinecures, and think-tank policy production, funded by.. well, you never mind, to the upper echelons of bureaucracy.

The revolving door between big $ and big government.
    Clear as day.
    Can’t miss it.
Unless, of course, you avert your eyes.
    Alas, that is our role.
    Trust
    Faith
    Hope

They are aware that some of their useful schlubs are a little more “woke” this time around.
They know that they know that most of them are rich. White. Privileged. Establishment.

But like the barking dog, a thrown bone buys time.
    Like always.
Only now, a few more bones.
    A few bigger bones.
And less bones for the dogs with nowhere to bark and no one to bite.
    Deplatformed dogs.

Yes, the Tree of Capitalism is full grown now – and it is a Tree of Evil. So if the full grown tree is evil, then the seed must have been bad too. This is radical stuff to the Right, but only because they have forgotten their Christian roots. Namely this is a fallen world and the love of money is the root of all evil.

They don’t like all that Bill of Rights stuff anymore than their Communist little brothers do. They financed Communism after all.

And they don’t get any whiter, privileged and establishment, than ole White Joe. The epitome of decades of DC corruption and 80 million Americans voted for him. Truly laughable, The Empire Strikes Back.

Get used to seeing such messages.

Repression never ebbs. It is either forcefully broken or is unbroken.

The Vatican’s Thirty Years War was one of the longest and most brutal wars in human history. It was a war on Liberty and the Enlightenment that ran until absolute exhaustion. But they don’t teach you that in the Vatican controlled government schools or the Vatican controlled MSM propaganda outlets. They don’t teach you the lessons of that war and why it was really fought. In fact, they don’t speak of it at all. Like it never occurred. It is expunged from our collective consciousness and historical memory.

We are now in another Vatican war on Liberty and the Enlightenment. The Vatican means to reinstall Roman Satanic Dystopia and absolute Feudal Oligarchic control. Communist China and the Jihadistanis are their long spawned handmaidens and are sponsored and enabled exactly for that purpose.

This war is more dangerous a war than the Vatican’s Thirty Years War, because this war is much more devious as it is fought largely unseen underneath the surface because it is deliberately hidden. It is fought through compete control of the MSM propaganda outlets, the Secret Service agencies, and our Cultural Political Judiciary Economic and Religious institutions.

We are in deep trouble because we refuse to acknowledge and understand who the enemy even is.

      This leads to my… burning…question.
When you first tried crack, were you immediately hooked?
Or was it only after hitting the rock a few times?

Because it must de the permanent warp from crack rather than the temporary clarity and vision from mild hallucinogenics that leads ones
to believe that a bunch of closeted old gay dudes and pederasts that like to party behind the Peter’s walls are in charge… of anything
