Debuting this week: America’s first genuine show trial, the second impeachment of Donald Trump, an exercise in pure malice designed by a party in power to teach a lesson to the party out of power. The lesson: we’re gonna getcha, getcha, getcha, as in the old song by Blondie. That’s it, and that’s all.

The exercise is so transparently idiotic and unconstitutional that Chief Justice John Roberts declined to preside over it, as the constitution specifies. Say, what…? Do you mean that in a proceeding this grave, he can just… demur? Because… why? Because he doesn’t feel like it? (Or something like that?) His Supreme Honor declined also to furnish a reason — though, if the Chief Justice views the trial as extraconstitutional, perhaps he should say so, for the record. Anyway, Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Senate President Pro Tempore (the oldest member of the majority party), will now act as judge. He must take a pledge to act impartially.

Running the prosecution: Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), who opined last week in a public statement that the jury (his fellow senators) could “infer” Mr. Trump’s guilt if he declined to testify. Apparently, Mr. Raskin, a former constitutional law professor (American University) never read the Fifth Amendment, which states: …nor shall [any person] be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself. But this is how we roll in these fog-bound days of Woke democracy.

The charge is “inciting violence against the government of the United States” in the January 6 incident at the US Capitol in which a mob breached the doors and invaded the building, one of them wearing buffalo horns and war paint. The prosecuting majority made some noises about calling witnesses, until the defense said, fine, we’ll call witnesses, too, perhaps all the livelong day, day after day, until the cows come home. That prompted the majority to remember that it had a legislative agenda, which it could not pursue if that branch was busy conducting a show trial, so Mr. Raskin nixed the idea. They’ll rely on video to make their case, he said. The FBI and its big brother, the DOJ, have been investigating the riot. The outstanding question: who, exactly, led the breach and induced others to follow. Do we know for sure? If I were one of Mr. Trump’s lawyers, I’d seek to know.

But the defense is more likely to seek an immediate dismissal based on the folly of holding a proceeding designed to remove someone from office who is no longer in office. That ought to be enough. Or else they’ll show some choice video of their own, like of Capitol Police opening the barricades on the outdoor terrace and inviting the mob in, or another of persons inside the building before it was breached handing tools for breaking in through a window to the mob outside.

There’s a humdinger video of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) haranguing a mob outside the Supreme Court’s headquarters when the justices were inside hearing an abortion case. “I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price!” Schumer yelled to the mob, who went on to bang menacingly on the Court’s front door. And what price would that be? The justices don’t have to run for reelection. As it happened, Chief Justice Roberts promptly admonished Mr. Schumer’s remarks as “inappropriate” and “dangerous.” Even Woke Harvard Law School Professor Laurence Tribe called Mr. Schumer’s language “inexcusable.”

Of course, behind this smokescreen of partisan bullshit is the question of election fraud, which the Democratic Party is seeking desperately to suppress. Their news media henchpersons have settled on the adjective “baseless” whenever the subject comes up in their reporting. They repeat it incessantly, Goebbels-style, to substantiate its truthiness, though it is not true. The truth is indeed the Deep State’s mortal enemy, and eventually it will make itself known.

        The greatest accomplishment of the Orange Tweeter’s term as President was the idea of a Wall to separate his followers from the undesirables on the other side.

        The only problem was that Trump got the location entirely wrong.

        The Biden Razor Wire Wall around the Capital is at least close to being in the right location. It just needs to be built of steel, electrified, and the razor wire at the top turned around to face inward. Arming 100,000 thousand National Guard troops guarding the Capitol with personal Stingers should prevent any attempt to leave by helicopter or re-supply by air. With only a one-way entrance gate to the entire Capitol, whenever lobbyists from the Swamp came to deliver their briefcases full of $100 dollar bills they could only enter but never leave. (Just like the Hotel California)

        Survival of the Fittest has always been the motto of political competition, but when the supply of prime steaks in the freezers runs out and the legislators have to turn to Long Pig it would put competition in an entirely different light.

      And only if Pelosi, Schumer and Biden’s puppet masters are not allowed to pass legislation nationalizing elections (unconstitutional) that would allow mail-in voting with no signature verifications, ballot harvesting, longer voting periods etc.

      I think it’s called “The Democrats Win Forever Act”.

      If there is more fraud in 2022 and Democrats manage to continue their coup (cause that’s what it has been since Trump came down the escalator in 2015, a rolling coup by the power elite/swamp/Deep State).

      So, either we get the states to clean up their election acts and hold their Constitutional ground to conduct their elections how they choose, or we are doomed.

            No case for impeaching Chief Justice John Roberts.

            The Founders made clear that when an impeachment trial concerns a sitting president, “the Chief Justice shall preside.” However the Constitution does not have any such requirement for other officers facing impeachment, or for a private citizen – which Trump now is.

            I think it’s reasonable that Chief Justice Roberts not preside when it’s not the president on trial.

            Trump is no in office and therefor can’t be impeached.
            Anyone signing on to this should be removed from office for wasting everyone’s time.
            I would say this is Biden did the right thing and stepped down but was then impeached for all of his impeachable offenses.

            If Trump were to be convicted by the Senate, the “sentence” could be being barred from holding any future federal office. Removal from office isn’t the only possible outcome, nor the only reason to impeach.

            And being out of office isn’t a defense from being barred for life – otherwise a president could resign just before the “sentence” is voted on in the Senate trial – which would obviously be a huge loophole.

            Just a technical point – the Supreme Court does not hear evidence as part of its function … it considers appeals from lower courts, if and only if there are federal constitutional issues that need to be resolved.

            The case brought be Texas (with 17 other state attorneys-general joining) was proposed on the grounds that the Supreme Court is also empowered to hear inter-state disputes.

            The court ruled overwhelmingly that the Texas argument was invalid, and the case did not get to first base. Texas had no standing.

          I thought the honest reason for this Senate charade was to prevent Trump from ever running again?

          I say they will fail and he should go for it but this time with blood-in his eyes, ready to straighten all the corruption out with great teams of loyal lawyers and they need to send Rudy To Passages in Malibu for a detox. He has been fermenting in really fine Scotch for long enough. Needs to come up for air and get his shit together sober to be of sound help.

          If Trump wants another term I would help him, if he is completely lasered I’m on the needs of the people and fully protecting the Constitution.

          We all need to start deputizing everywhere we go and giving people their cards to carry so the can deputize others:

          Raise your right hand and repeat after me:“I, State your name, do solemnly swear to preserve; protect and defend The US Constitution against all enemies both foreign and domestic, so help me God. I take this oath freely and patriotically to my fellow Americans who hold the same without fear or favor.”

          Fill out the card and give them more cards so they can go out and do the same.

          From then on they will be card-carrying supporters of the Constitution.

          Now that is a revolutionary act!

            I think it’s because the money isn’t trickling down to the citizens. Fed to banks to corporations to buy up their own stock – the money isn’t circulating. If this money were in general circulation we would see the effects of an inflated money supply. Instead it passes between few hands, inflating the stock market while avoiding the inflation that would eat up those capital gains.

            Maybe we are not understanding that we have been lied to all our lives about economics, economies, taxes etc. Money is a figment of mans imagination, something to control the masses. God didn’t create it, it doesn’t grow from the ground, can’t be mined. It is only worth something as long as you believe it is valuable. Stock up on gold you say? You can look at and admire your pretty metal, but you can’t eat it, heat or defend your home with it. We could easily be coming back to barter. When everything crashes, I won’t take worthless cash for my products.

        That would be in about 3 weeks after you get your check. And remember, not everyone is getting a check but here’s the math assuming that every person is:

        $1400 = stimulus check

        1.9 TRILLION dollars bailout

        population of US 330 million x $1400 = 4.62 billion

        So where’s the rest of the 1.44 TRILLION going, going, gone? It’s been sold to us as ” help for struggling Americans and small businesses” — so are they going to pay all the back rent and mortgage payments that have stacked up? Bailout cities that have paid their teachers for almost a year for not doing their job? And why is this not receiving any attention at all in mainstream media?

            If you were eligible for a stimulus check and didn’t get one, you can claim the amount as a tax credit on your 2020 tax return. I believe that the 1st stimulus amount qualifies for a credit as well, but you should check to make sure.

            I just finished my tax return. Due to a retirement in 2020, we slipped barely below the threshold. Not only did we get the second stimulus but they also made us whole on the first. And we were able to get the increased medicare premium abated. Now, we really don’t need it so I booked first class airline tickets on an upcoming vacation. My granddaughter will be thrilled. I am sending my stimulus out to the wider world. No wonder the U.S. Is broke.

            Here is Merck’s answer to Covid-19 after trying to develop a vaccine and finding the efficacy was less than desirable:

            Best to just catch Covid-19 and take Zinc, Vitamin D3, Selenium, C and to take the therapeutics like Ivermectin and Hydroxychloraquine etc. Best immune response is what your own immune system performs!

            What a shame all our doctors don’t have all seniors and those who are immuno-compromised etc. on the above regimen.

            Funny how YouTube censored the Senate testimony of a doctor who was telling of how well Ivermectin is performing in clinical trials in “other” countries.

            Thankfully the FDA finally got the memo (especially after families won in court so their doctors could prescribe Ivermectin to their very ill family members), to allow American doctors to prescribe a drug that is a cheap anti-parasitical, potent anti-viral and anti-bacterial. It won the Nobel Peace Prize several decades ago for saving millions in Africa. BAN IT!!!

        Sorry Doc, but I fear that optimism has not a chance in manifesting. This will go on for the forseeable future and get worse.

        The reason – it’s not just the government locking people down anymore, the majority of the population is locking itself down and policing themselves and each other.

        The majority will resist taking off their masks and staying six feet apart until the cows come home, regardless what their mayor, governor or president says.

        They bought this thing first because they were scared (and who didn’t question the outdoors for at least a week or two last March?), but now as a sign of feeling important and part of the team, and they’re in it up to their wrists.

          I live in a community where people on the streets walk without masks. Ones nearby have everyone masked, sometimes because of law, sometimes because it’s the group identifier. My community has seceded from the insanity, probably because our schools aren’t good so parochial school is where most of the kids go. Wealthy towns with good schools, by contrast, have people who cannot afford to go against the grain for social reasons.

          In some sense, my area are wealthy white proles; like black and Hispanic proles, they largely ignore the prevailing wisdom.

          I suspect that a lot of the right-leaning whites locally will have decamped, and soon, to more friendly states. If the Feds do not enforce on places like Florida, then you’ll have competing visions. So long as the open states don’t get taxed to pay for the closed ones (and 10 of the highest unemployment states have D governors, excepting MA, which is probably the bluest state), there’s hope.

          Not much, I grant you.

            And are they not the communities that have the most influence?

            We walk around outside un-masked freely in my area too, but go into a store? Not so much. I forgot my mask once walking into the grocery store and made it all the way back to the milk section before people started staring at me. I realized why and hurried back to my car to grab it. That’s the social reasons you’re talking about. And you’re right.

            And even the impoverished and backwoods folks have their own versions of that need for social acceptance. The game is too far along for a great awakening where, say, suddenly it’s announced that enough people are vaccinated and people can choose to live freely again.

            I wish everyone had the resources to move to another state if it fit them better…but upwards of 40% of the workforce is now either forced onto the dole or now under-employed, when they used to be able to think past next month’s bills.

            I would suggest from within my sphere of friends and family that those who are most taken up in the hysteria and posturing are those for whom the pandemic has granted the usual (if not enhanced) financial comfort. Those who have shifted downward are much more likely to see through the nonsense and focus on what’s actually important – self preservation.

            I had a city employee stop by my home, I guess because a department head of a blue collar department qualifies fhim as a wealthy white prole, relative to a lot of the residents.

            It took me a few minutes to realize, he hadn’t bothered with a mask at all, as opposed to some of the city workers I see either wearing one or having it pulled down on their chin.

            He was good looking so I didn’t mind the fact that he could have killed me with his face, as much as I should have.

          There was the original hint of a suspicion that this could have been some kind of intentional release of a bioweapon.

          The MSM and some governments did their best to fan that fear.

          I started checking for myself on some of their more extravagant claims, almost right away, and when I looked up a mask study I remembered, and found it had been removed because it didn’t fit “the climate”, not because it wasn’t sound science, that was enough for me to understand the con was on, and keep digging.

          I wondered where anybody ever got the idea that ventilators were some sort of essential treatment for the virus, and I quickly found out that they weren’t, and that the notion that they were came straight from the CCP.

          Anybody could have looked this stuff up for themselves, but most did not see a reason to do so, because they didn’t understand that the MSM would deliberately spread lies.

          It did not help that the president’s task force was spreading those lies as well.

            Ventilators are not being used to treat the virus but to keep the heavily infected from expelling large amounts of the virus out as they are a partially closed and filtered system.

            What was happening is the doctors/nurses kept having to increase the pressure since the lungs no longer moved oxygen in and waste products out and were essentially damaging the already damaged lung tissue.

            Ventilators are still being used where necessary.

            As time went on, more people were put on non-invasive respirators, but sometimes that’s not enough and really sick people have to be sedated and put on a ventilator after another respirator has been tried. Something like half of them survive. One guy here was in hospital for about 7 months, with a chunk of that on a ventilator. But he made it, eventually. And probably thankful he didn’t live in a country where it would have bankrupted him 10 times over.

            All the ventilator (or any other respirator) is doing is supporting you, in the absence of your lungs being able to, while you fight the virus.

          Most people just don’t want to catch it and latch on to whatever is available: D3, Zinc, Vit C, Masks, Distancing, Avoiding crowds. Granted, where I live there is not a big group of virtue signalers.

            Alba, I understand pretty much where you’re coming from, but if I’m correct you appear to think that my concern over covid hysteria reaching into our lives too far and changing the way we view and interact with the people we’ve known our whole lives is not common sense?

            If this keeps up, in ten years our younger children won’t even remember that things used to be different (for thousands of years), or even know why they should want them to be.

            The fact that sstumpf mentioned Zinc and Vit C (and I would add diet, sunlight and exercise) is more than the government here has done in regards to public messaging. They don’t want us to stay immune, they want us to be scared, masked, nagging at each other and staying home on the dole.

            That is something to be concerned about. Therefore, common sense to think about such things, no?

            I agree that there has been an overblown tone from television channels in particular. We filter it as appropriate. Perhaps they could have had a dedicated Covid channel, indicated by a modest banner while the news is on, for those who want details! And I agree that some agencies like to spread fear and some people just have a taste for drama.

            In this particular case, all I meant was that I also live in a locality where there is an apparent lack of hysteria. My flat is in an area which, in addition to owner-occupiers like me, there are lots of HMOs*, mostly full of students. I am perfectly sure that they are not all abiding by the no-get-togethers rule, although I don’t hear that much noise. My daughter, who is fed up to the eyeballs of the schools being closed again, blames partying students, among others – and the young people she sees over her way congregating without a care – for that for the fact that her son is not at school. But she also blames Nicola Sturgeon.

            I don’t like lockdowns (especially for children) or people losing their jobs. This was my position 6 months ago and I can’t see anything in it I’d change now:

            BUT, while YMMV, I don’t believe that the NHS would have coped if we’d gone along with no mitigation at all.

            I even accept ‘society’s’ right to say it accepts overflowing hospitals – but in that case I demand that society produce an agreed protocol which lists clearly who gets first dibs for any spare hospital bed in such situations – the 40-year-old with serious Covid or the 40-year-old with cancer or heart failure. And I expect any responsible government, in such a situation, to provide sedation that people can use at home to avoid dying in a way they wouldn’t tolerate if it was their dog. I’m not interested in pointless rhetoric along the lines of ‘people die – get over it’.

            I’m taking Vits C and D too, plus zinc. I’m also self-medicating with a daily baby aspirin because trials have shown it helps to have done this if you end up in hospital (it’s an anti-viral as well as an anti-coagulant). Don’t tell my GP.

            But I have also read that, while Vit D and so on are good for your immune system generally, they won’t stop you getting Covid or indeed from getting sick. It would be irresponsible to tell people all they need to do is take vitamins and they’ll be fine. And certainly over here, I’d say there’s been much positive coverage of the exercise issue. (Having said that almost everyone I speak to is taking Vit D so they’re getting the message from somewhere!).

            But my point was mainly that I don’t see anyone around here being nagging or hysterical towards anyone else. We met my husband’s sister at the weekend for a walk. She arrived wearing a mask; we arrived without, because we don’t wear them outside. I felt a bit guilty in case she thought we were not taking care on her behalf, but we never mentioned her mask and she never mentioned our lack of one. There are other things to talk about, even now.

            True. But I’m just suggesting they mention it at all. The CDC’s own website, if you scroll down a bit and find the “Protect Yourself” link, then goes to a page that suggests the following to protect yourself:

            – Wear a mask
            – Stay 6 feet away from others
            – Avoid crowds and poorly ventilated spaces
            – Wash your hands often
            – Cover coughs and sneezes
            – Clean and disinfect
            – Monitor your health daily (temperature/symptoms)
            – Get vaccinated

            Not a damn thing about exercise, Vit C/D or Zinc likely helping your immune system to resist infection before you may encounter the bug in the first place. That’s what I’m pointing out here.

            Luckily, I do as well. Most people here are quite reasonable (if not muttering under their breath from time to time). We go about our daily lives fairly normally, except when in a building that isn’t our home – then we mask and attempt to distance. I’m referring to the type of over-hyping and hysteria that has people buying into the fear and subsequent lifestyle modifications more than they should *on their own*, without government or medical mandate. It’s now a self-policed social mandate, and an indicator of “awareness status”.

            This is a new form of virtue signaling.

            Hope I was able to articulate that distinction here.

          I knew that all was lost early last summer when I was fly fishing for trout and two Karens came floating by in their Kayaks fully masked up to protect themselves from all the Corvids roosting on the willows and waiting to pounce on them.

          Dr Tom, in my little valley of 10,000 residents the one main street has giant flashing screens reminding people that it is illegal to proceed further without muzzling up even while in your car. The main employer is the local ski area where, in order to be allowed to operate, all the lift operators have been deputized as Mask Police. They spend their days ordering customers to lift their diapers up to cover their noses while exercising in the cold mountain air. 90% of the diapers being worn are balaclavas or surgical masks which are barely sufficient to prevent mosquitos from passing through them.

          A wealthy local benefactor purchased 10,000 copies of the Moderna gene modification shots and is distributing them free to the community, so everybody will be fine as long as we keep wearing three masks each.

          George Carlin was wrong. In the US 100% of people are stupider than average. LOL

          Well, my significant other doesn’t want it to go on for any time at all because he’s had quite enough, in his late 60s and with a compromised immune system, of having to go into care homes and patients’ houses inadequately protected. And then trying to take off a possibly virus-laden plastic pinny as it blows around in the wind outside, because them’s the rules. Not in the patient’s house.

          Thankfully he’s recently (partially) vaccinated, but he’s also pissed off that a 95-year-old with advanced dementia, who is unaware of their own existence or anyone else’s, is higher up the list to be vaccinated than the doctor who has to go into care homes and be exposed to potential Covid patients. He finds it indecent. Mind you, he finds the idea of vaccinating a 95-year-old with advanced dementia against pretty much anything indecent anyway. But such is modern life – everyone (care homes in this case) covering their backs to avoid being sued by neurotic relatives.

          Also, many hospital doctors and nurses are suffering from burnout. A number have left the profession because of it, including some, during the current iteration, who receive daily insults and even death threats on social media from the ‘it’s a hoax brigade’, which is the icing on the toxic cake.

          BTW, my SO doesn’t ‘bandy about’ the prefix Dr. Things are democratic here these days and doctors are no longer considered worthy of respect, so they introduce themselves to patients as ‘John’ or ‘Julie’.

          Anyone with internet access knows more than a doctor with 50 years experience, don’tcha know …

      Learned helplessness is not stupidity. They’re serious about cramming lies down our throats, and they’ve made it obvious that there is nothing we can do about it.

      Learned helplessness is a rational, intelligent response for an individual in that state. For a society it means death. If the individually crippled people could communicate with each other and learn that the individual struggling will suffer while the collective exhausts the captors, it might change things.

      What are you doing to build community and connection? Calling people “stoopid” does not seem to be a high-probability-of-success approach.

        I have had someone blame not me, but people like me, Trump supporters and those who don’t believe in masks, for the death of one of her relatives.

        This is someone I have known since she was a young teen. She does not know that I am a Trump supporter, or that I don’t “believe” in wearing a mask.

        What can be said about this mindset?
        I killed her relative because I don’t want to wear a mask? Because I voted for President Trump, who BTW did everything that fraud Fauci told him to?

        She goes off on me without even knowing what she’s talking about, or even getting her facts straight?

        That isn’t fear, it’s stupidity.

          What about the Trump impeachment, leaving aside the COVID terror campaign (where a real disease with real effects has been blown so completely out of proportion due to its benefits for the political class.), as our original poster mentioned? How many people who voted for Biden wanted this as the first priority, rather than a fix to, say, the healthcare racket (Pelosi as Speaker means no chance for Medicare for all, which seems to be pretty popular in the D party.)?

          No matter who gets elected, the priorities of the grifter class predominate. Climate change as a means to shut down fossil fuel production so as to keep it too expensive for the poor, and maybe a nice carbon tax to skim more from the rubes. Transgender athletes: if more than 10% of Democrats had that as highest priority (day 1!) I’d be absolutely stunned.

          That people are inert in the face of this is not stupidity, individually. If they had a leader who might show them how to overturn it, they might be willing to sacrifice for the cause. For now, they can see what happens to the “insurrectionists” at the Capitol: those people are going to be crucified. Better to not fight it than go down in a fight where your leaders will undercut you.

            That’s correct — private industry did develop the vaccine with lots of backing by the Federal Government. No one’s suggesting Trump & Fauci were in a lab with a Mr. Wizard chemistry set cooking up a vaccine. Just like JFK probably did none of the math that put the first man on the moon but he gets credit (rightly so) for implementing the program.

            I think it’s important to give credit where credit is due. George Bush started a program in Africa that apparently was very successful curbing the spread of HIV and he deserves credit for that too.

      Did you read the article? I just did. It says Matt Hancock was inspired (but only partly) by the film Contagion to make sure the UK ordered enough vaccine in plenty of time, so that fights over distribution could be avoided. That’s what it says, Beryl. Not that the film inspired a pretend pandemic or anything else about it.

      The EU wasn’t so quick to get its arse in gear, and its representatives are now running around like headless chickens, lashing out at anyone who was organised in time.

      Given the shambolic nature of the Johnson government’s response to the pandemic in every other way, I’d say this is one instance where Matt the App actually got something right.

      So while I haven’t seen the film – and am untroubled by the use of masks or otherwise in it – it’s probably OK that Hancock did.

      But not vital, because it was only one of his reasons.

      Whether or not you wish to be vaccinated, it makes no sense to have a shambolic delivery system for those who do.

            Fauci co-wrote a paper in 2008, the conclusion of which is that in the 1918 pandemic, the ensuing mask-wearing caused even more illness because of infections.

            I think it’s helpful if people are urged to wear masks, and I support shops and bus companies in their right to protect their staff and customers as they see fit. I have said before I don’t approve of legal sanctions for those who refuse.

I’m not sure how you prevent private companies from introducing rules that they think will help their industry get back on its feet, while covering themselves against any future accusations of helping bring new variants to countries that had so far managed to avoid them.

            I had to get a cholera vaccination when I went to Tunisia at age 20. The French wouldn’t have let us back in without it, because there was a cholera outbreak while we were there. Not sure what you’re supposed to do in such cases to keep everyone happy. But I don’t support mandatory vaccination in principle generally, except in extremis.

            And I don’t feel inclined to lower myself to call you ‘it’. You may be a narcissist but you are still a person of whose sex I am aware.

            I have no idea what part of my post you are referring to.

            You and I had a reasonable discussion. I said I saw no justification for insisting on air passengers being vaccinated, specifically because the vaccines don’t appear to prevent infection, but just prevent infected people from getting sick and dying. So if I’m vaccinated, it’s my choice to get on a plane and not anyone else’s responsibility to ensure that I’m safe. If I decline the vaccination, I can be assumed to be happy taking the risk of flying (extrapolate to other activities at your leisure).

            The only thing I didn’t include in my reasoning was that in the case of international travel, foreign governments are involved who may wish to keep new variants out of their country, if their own people are vaccinated against early strains. I have no view on whether this is any kind of human right for the recipient country.

            I didn’t say I approved of the actions of the private companies, merely that I don’t know what you do about it.

            Do you think that the authorities in Marseille, back in 1972, should have allowed my friend and me back in from Tunisia (without quarantine) without the requisite cholera vaccination certificate, while there was an epidemic in part of that country? I’m sure a cholera outbreak in southern France would have been relatively easily quashed before a dramatic number of people died.

            It seems to me that cases have been won by the bakers who did not wish to bake cakes with messages that offended them. Certainly that is what happened in Northern Ireland.

            It is interesting you say that. I, too, have had quite a few interactions with people in which they begin to apologize for committing a Coroneau faux pas (handshakes, hugs, face rags etc), until they realize I don’t care.

            Then we interact as though it all doesn’t matter, because deep down we all know it doesn’t. Some of them even need to verbalize it, but they always act normal afterwards.

      About that forced vaccine.

      I saw over the weekend, a story about a woman getting a vaccination publicly, in order to encourage others not to be afraid of its safety.

      A diaper on her face, of course. What was unusual about this was the fact that the woman was an MD, and visibly pregnant.

      It can be inferred that she was encouraging other pregnant women to accept the vaccine.

      The horror of the story is, the trials for the vaccine excluded pregnant women. It’s an experimental vaccine, with no testing at all on pregnant women, and if an MD had checked the science at all, I can’t believe a healthy woman would do this to herself, but she did, and she lost her baby.

      A number of the commenters at the site where I read the story thought it must be fake.
      So did I.

      I checked it out myself and she’s a real doctor.

      This is what happens when you politicize a virus, and when you “believe” in science like it’s your religion.

            Every vaccine is an experimental vaccine until enough people have taken it, for a long-enough time, for everyone to pretty much relax.

            I’m absolutely in agreement that it hasn’t had the long-term testing history that they normally have. And I support anyone who says they don’t want to take it because of that. Or indeed because of anything else. Just because is enough for me. But I’m not the one insulting people for their choices. My choice is mine; your choice is yours; but I don’t come on here proactively telling people they’re fools if their choice isn’t the same as mine. I only respond to things that come under the rubric of er … fibs and propaganda.

            BTW, one of the reasons the rollout has been so fast (I know this from the Oxford vaccine, but assume the others were the same) is that, normally, financing and production don’t start till after a vaccine has been approved. In this case, financing piled in, to get the thing done quickly, and production started before the vaccine was approved, so that it would be ready to run when/if it was. But in the knowledge that if it wasn’t, a whole lot of investment money would go down the pan, along with the manufactured but unusable vaccine.

            And pregnant women don’t really see their minds turn to jelly as folklore sometimes suggests. They are perfectly capable of making up their own mind after seeing someone say they’ve chosen to – or chosen not to.

            An old school friend of mine got in touch this morning to say that her friend, who is in hospital with the hoax, is not expected to live. Her family have been informed.

            I have no reason to suppose she’d have wanted the economy to shut down and people lose their jobs to give her another 20 years, but I think she might have said OK to the vaccine.

          Many problems with that Guardian-linked story, which I read.

          Not specified as to when the pregnant women became pregnant. 1st trimester? 3rd? Stage of fetus development matters.

          Development itself is not the standard that I’d be concerned about. Many fetuses and newborns are just fine until, as infants or young kids, and because of compromised immune systems having to do with unfortunate genetically coded fate, they’re blitzed by a plethora of health challenges: tonsillitis, measles/mumps/chicken pox/colds/fevers for which they’re given further immuno-compromising antibiotics, in addition to poor growth, digestive issues, headaches, behavioural problems, mental retardation, depression and withdrawal.

          Included in your pull quote is that “postnatal toxicity result[s] … showed no adverse effects on female reproduction and fetal/embryonic development.” Well, what happens in even the puerperal period? Did they not even bother to observe the babies during those post-popped six weeks?

          The studies are trash just on the grounds of rushed results. In addition, the sample size is way too low, there’s no triple (or even double) blinding, no statements of conflict of interest (easy for anyone to come to his or her own conclusions on that), and no randomized/demographic strictness and organization.

          Oh, and the article’s link to the CDC’s statement of “safety” for pregnant women came to that conclusion based on one study done on rats.

          You’re right in that people should have the power to make their own decisions. But those decisions aren’t made easier for the naive majority with the overwhelming official weight of “science is settled, so take the jab or else” narrative coming from the globalist agenda.

            I don’t know how long the post-natal studies continued, but my understanding is that ALL volunteers, pregnant or not, are being followed up for several years. I would expect that to include children born during the trials, but I don’t know. People who wish to may wait those several years before taking the vaccine – or may decline it in perpetuity, as is the way with the flu vaccine.

            As I understand it, the pregnant doctor is writing as herself, not as a representative of any body (although I’d need to re-read it to ascertain that). The NHS is not advising pregnant women to be vaccinated, quite the opposite, as a precaution – I imagine healthcare workers are the only ones likely to insist upon it for themselves personally. They are aware of their own risks. A 28-year-old pregnant nurse died here in the first wave of the actual disease. Obviously an outlier at that age, but who knows whether they’re going to be an outlier? She wasn’t even working in a Covid ward (I think they have been trying to keep pregnant staff away from Covid wards) but she caught it anyway.

            I pay no attention to either the CDC or WHO. I only found that Graun article because someone claimed a woman in her position had subsequently lost her baby – that was what I was trying to find with my search, but I didn’t find it. The Guardian is not my go-to source of medical information any more than the CDC/WHO.

            I would not personally take a vaccine during pregnancy for anything short of ebola or plague, as a precaution. Likewise any other medication. The doctor in question by definition knows way more than I do about immunology and is able to make more informed decisions about the validity of the trials. I’ll leave her to her decision, just as I’d make my own if I were in her position.

            I agree with you that the trials are more rushed than would be ideal, which is why I thought long and hard myself about my own personal risk. My own personal risk assessment remains my right. And given that people keep telling me the over 80s, over 70s, over 60s, and even over-50s should expect to die from things like this, from time to time, without whingeing, then likewise if their choice to be vaccinated turns out to be unwise, they’ll be no loss to society in that circumstance either.

            You can give them all a Darwin award and celebrate the increase in IQ as the unvaccinated take over. I have no problem with that.

        I did not say the virus is a hoax. I have repeatedly stated much or most of the response to this virus is a scam.

        I keep getting the “I know someone who got sick with the hoax” response, which is not a response at all.

        The fact is, this quest for a vaccine that may or may not come, over research into treatment, and the deliberate suppression of viable treatment for this real virus, is what is killing many who could perhaps have been saved.

        Every time I delve into this topic, I get someone attacking me for things I did not say, and for not being sufficiently allegiant to the narrative, or something.

        As far as all vaccines being experimental, the rush job vaccines have skipped so much of the usual testing that it would be illegal to use them when no state of emergency exists.

        There is evidence that the safe and effective treatments available, are being deliberately suppressed.

        When there is a safe and effective treatment available, those rush job vaccines are illegal.

        The Pfizer experimental gene therapy cannot prevent you from getting the virus or transmitting it.

        They are openly telling us we will be in those worthless masks and “social distancing” (Hollywood science) until Bill Gates wipes out the virus.

          I know you didn’t. Sometimes my comments include broader references than the exact person to whom I’m responding. My apologies for the lack of precision. The word ‘hoax’ has been repeated ad nauseam on here.

          Which stages of the testing do you think were missed? Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were tested on animals (mice and macaques – lower doses than in previous coronavirus testing, which had caused problems), and have gone through Phase 1-3 trials. It’s just that various stages of the process were carried out concurrently instead of sequentially (an example being production starting well before approval, with the investors knowingly taking a massive financial risk).

          I agree with you that, in an ideal world, it would be great if we could wait until another five or ten years down the line, thumbs twiddling, to see if any really rare side effects might or might not occur. But I don’t see anything illegal.

          Bill Gates doesn’t occupy the space in our heads here that he does over your way (obviously) so I can’t comment on his possible messiah complex. But I don’t expect to be wearing a mask after most people have been given the opportunity to be vaccinated. I don’t think I’ve clocked up three hours of mask-wearing in the last year anyway.

          Hardly anyone in my locality wears them in the street unless they’re between two shops. But no-one is fussing either (on either side). Kids on buses don’t seem to be wearing them, as far as I can see, even though they’re supposed to. And no-one says anything, least of all the poor driver who’s exposed to everyone, without anyone banging pots for him/her. I find most of the hysteria is online.

    Reading Mr. Kunstler’s column this week I kept asking myself: “Why the Gobbel’s ‘Big Lie’ quote? The answer, delivered in the final paragraph, is ‘baseless’ claims of election fraud’ in MSM commentary post-election.

    Of course, other depictions of the election fraud story, repeated often enough, would also take on the ineluctable odor of ‘truthiness’ just as well.

    The truth is I will never know the truth, but I suspect it is not to be found within the beltway around Washington, DC. The proven geodesic-dome technology promulgated by Buckminster Fuller and demonstrated so well by the United States at the Expo ’67 World’s Fair in Montreal finds its best application now: build a geodesic dome over Washington, D.C. to contain all of the politicians and their lackeys, minions, lobbyists and fellow-travellers. Wrap the G.D. thing in stretch-and-seal and wait at a safe distance until it fogs up, and the CO2 concentrates enough to catch everyone inside’s attention. It may take a few years, but it might just provide the peasants with enough respite to apply themselves to solving other problems.

      Pro tip. You can read part of the evidence yourself at Ms. Powell or Mr. Pulitzer’s websites. You can watch the videos of the vans delivering ballots after the counting had supposedly stopped (in itself an absurd irregularity that should void all ballots counted after stoppage), and you can apply some basic logic.

      That logic being that if the evidence is not allowed to be presented in court, there is a high likilhood that it is powerful. There is no reason whatsoever to deny a sitting president and a team of powerful lawyers their day in court, unless the fraud was coordinated and the actions desperate.

      Your brain. Use it.

      I remember clearly multiple stories of a class of The Elite which we used to refer to, rather unkindly, in Western Canada as “rich hippies” who spent the dough and built their geodesic domes to live in – only to find that they leaked perpetually and unstoppably (even, presumably, with the equivalent of “stretch-and-seal”).

      You can imagine how disillusioning that must have been, living in the British Columbia rain forest.

      Considering that Washington has a more pronounced percentage of leakers in any case and you can perhaps accede to the impracticality of your proposal.

      Exactly. Just said the same thing to my wife this morning. If they wanted to stage an insurrection, they would’ve staged an insurrection. That would involve guns, the hunting of certain figures of stature, and the taking of hostages, *with a stated goal to achieve*.

      Not a frat party escapade worthy of Animal House. Might as well have been a panty raid.

      Now…

      That a few people died is tragic, as always.

      But someone had die or be attacked in order to advance the narrative.

      One “insurrectionist” shot by the gubmint and one capitol officer hit with a flying object (thrown by some jackass who I believe remains publicly unidentified) who later died of a heart attack in the hospital…both are sad events, because it was all so unnecessary…but to call it an insurrection is about as disingenuous as it gets.

      That said, many in my extended family call it just that. Amongst them I keep my mouth shut.

Because they know that they are now all powerful and the people are too divided and weak to put up any meaningful opposition to them (they’ve engineered it this way after decades of sowing discord between groups, such as between races, even between men and women). They know that they have a firm grip on the nation and can now make it bend over so that they can give it to Americans through the backdoor.

    We are now living in a fake democracy, and the rule of law has effectively come to an end. If the country were still psychologically healthy, it would be in a state of civil war, for the same reason that a body reacts to a disease or pathogen with fever, cough and diarrhea. If the body does not react this way, it belongs to the pathogen, meaning that the body is slowly dying.

    These people are so evil that they’ve convinced much of the nation that they’re the good guys and the good guys are the bad guys. They let criminals out of prison and persecute decent law-abiding citizens. They let mobs run riot and burn down cities for months, yet they throw a tantrum when the Capitol police let an uncoordinated rabble basically stroll into the building without even making an effort to resist them. They accuse their enemies of EXACTLY the very thing they themselves are guilty of and in spite of all this, their followers, who suffer from a severe case of Stockholm Syndrome, eat it all up. Their followers are like pigs defending the pig farmer against animal-rights activists.

    Face it… it’s over. The US is ROYALLY F**KED. Born in high ideals in 1776, died in 2020 from cynicism, bad faith, corruption and cultural subversion (and I should add demographic change too, since most immigrants come from countries which DON’T share America’s values). It was never going to last. It was always going to end, especially now that most of the western world has lost its religious faith. I didn’t expect this kind of ending, with a woke insurrection fueled by lies and hallucinations. But this is what you get when you don’t fight the long and corrosive process of cultural and ideological subversion by Marxism/Leninism.

          Under the Soviets a larger group was initially expropriated than in Germany. They got on to killing large numbers pretty quickly.

            Realistically – that is a distinction without a difference – “more limited in placement” means exactly the same as “removed”, or “reduced” if you like.

            But this is just one example of hundreds across the nation – of Republicans doing everything possible to make voting as difficult as possible, especially (and in most cases) only in Democrat-heavy neighbourhoods.

            Voter suppression is ugly and undemocratic – but the Republicans know that the more people vote, the more the party will suffer.

          With the greatest respect, people keep saying or writing this over and over and over, but

          ? the Trump Department of Justice said there was no fraud
          ? the Cybersecurity Agency said there was no fraud either
          ? 49 of 50 states )plus DC) met the safe-harbor date (Dec 8)
          ? all state electoral boards certified the results
          ? almost all swing states are Republican controlled
          ? no state officials (including all Republicans) called fraud
          ? no state court found fraud
          ? no state appellate court found fraud
          ? no federal court found fraud
          ? no federal appellate court found fraud
          ? the Supreme Court (Republican super-majority) found no fraud

          How much confirmation would be required in order to convince you and many others that the evidence is not there?

          Of course, the Trump campaign had a woefully incompetent legal team, but that was Trump’s choice. It was also pretty clear that Trump did not have much support among the broader Republican Party. I expect a lot of Republicans wanted to be rid of Trump and Trumpism as well.

          Anyway, whatever one thinks about the election (I remain deeply sceptical, and think it’s just a case of extreme sore-loser on Trump’s part) – it is hyperbolic in the extreme to say the US has suffered a Marxist/Leninist takeover.

          Conservative forces still have huge amounts of power and influence right throughout the American economy, and society. And as I noted above, the current configuration could change very quickly – even sooner than 2022 if a Democrat senator from a red state died.

          The current situation (Democrats holding the White House, Reps, and Senate) is pretty rare and a fluke this year – because the Republicans had two financially compromised candidates in Georgia.

    Recall that the Corporate Press showed its monolithic hand the very day after some voters actually went to the polls, by agreeing upon a single headline: “Trump Disputes Election Result Without Cause.” One might have supposed that a question as important as this for the nation’s future would require some investigation before arriving at this definitive conclusion, but the Corporate State declared it so and it was so, at least in the minds of credulous liberals – no investigation required.

    After a few days the evolving narrative simply declared that there had, in fact, been an investigation and that it had determined the absence of chicanery. Not that American citizens are entitled to see the product of this investigation, mind you.

    By this point the events of January 6, in which not a single shot was fired by protesters and little damage was done by individuals who were permitted entrance and could easily have torched the capitol if that had been their intent, was re-branded as an “Insurrection” mounted by “White Supremacists.” (the PR team considered using “Nazi Child Molesters,” but decided that was a bit over the top)
    Since, the designed distraction of identity politics notwithstanding, what we have here is class warfare, let’s be clear about the choice of the label White Supremacists. It is code: a liberal dog whistle for Deplorables which, in turn, really means White Trash.

    But what if the election was, in fact, brazenly and obviously stolen, and these besieged working class citizens were, in fact, storming the capital in a valiant effort to defend our political process. Wouldn’t that make them Patriots?

    And what if those who accomplished this remarkable feat of judo, flipping the legitimate protest of a stolen election into a thwarted coup, in the same master stroke managed to simply cancel congressional floor debate over the alleged investigation of that election? Debate which never took place, testimony which was never made a matter of record.

    For the month after Election Day I collected a great deal of “nonexistent” evidence that showed just how egregious election theft had been, until I saw the excellent work which has been done by Dr. Peter K. Navarro, which includes scrupulous documentation of all sources.

    If you would like to see what January Sixth was really about you can simply google Navarro Report. But you had best do it fast, because it’s only a matter if time until it is suppressed and sucked down the Orwellian memory hole.

    How many on this blog would be considered ‘domestic terrorists’? I’d argue almost all of the posters here.

    It is because we have our own free, independent minds. That is the problem. Many here think outside the MSM, and that is the danger for the federal government. We choose what we have come to believe, ourselves– and do not accept what the government is telling us.

        You don’t see it. The money is backed by Chinese trinkets given for these digits on computer, even as the Chinese themselves were denied consumption.

        No hyper inflation as long as they take the dollar and ship the trinkets.

        (Sure the US still exports a lot of food products. It doesn’t account for all the trinkets)

        Then there is the nobles tasked with dumping all their profits away from the real economy to reduce velocity of money.

        It can go on a few more years until the people are used to 1/4th the living standard.

    I just wanted a damn beer or pizza commercial.

    Instead we got run-on awareness training and 14 promos for CBS’ new hit show starring Queen Latifer on skis.

    I’m not averse to the awareness concept for important issues, but can be possibly be more friggin aware than we already are? It’s the only topic allowed to be discussed. We’re aware. It’s enough already.

    Also noticed the not-so-subtle lack of diversity in the back-up performers behind the half-time “star”…far as I can tell, a 100% lack. How’s that for a mindfuck?

        Patrick Leahy is older than even Beijing Biden, and that’s saying something. Last I heard Senator Leahy was in hospital and may not be available to preside over any high profile show trial.         I will say though, the Will Ferrell spot and the few random Beavis and Butthead cameos were nice though. (they threw a couple softballs in there to keep those of us who went to college before 2000 a reason to maybe stay in the room). Wayne’s World bit was ok, too, but they had to bring in Cardi B to tie their old asses in with the younger generations.

        I was watching with a friend, his wife and 10 yr-old, and after about an hour I looked at the kid and said “You know, you’re not necessarily too young to remember, but just so you know, it was not always like this. It used to be about the game and the commercials were about ways to enjoy the game.”

        During the First Reconstruction (1865-1877) the darkies called this program, “De bottom rail done gone to the top an’ de top rail done gone to de bottom!”

        The fence got rebuilt again in 1878 after the federal occupation troops were finally ejected.

    I have never seen a word misused as much as Democracy.

    Pure democracy exists when every franchised person votes on every issue and the majority rules. Athens actually did this at one point.

    Sounds great, doesn’t it. That is why it is used by the Left so much in propaganda.

    Republics happen when too much complexity or populations become too large for an all person vote on all issues.

    Needless to say, we are a Republic, we elect representatives to make our societal decisions for us.

    We have been betrayed by a political party that have so distorted the election process that it is a good possibility that fraud now rules the ballot box. The only good news out of the last election is the Dems , in their zeal to get Trump, forgot about the House and the power shifted significantly.

    Anyway, what the Dems have done to the US over the last forty years is about as antiDemocratic as it can be. They have just about succeeded in turning the Golden city on the hill, into a totalitarian Uniparty state. Trump got in their way, a little, and was destroyed. So when all the Dems talked about saving Democracy, we are entitled to guffaw.

    What the Dems are actually doing is growing a brown super majority in the country to perpetuate the Uniparty. Wait until the Browns start throwing out the White elite running DC. The pig squealing will start then. The browns are not “wise” enough to run the US Constitution model and will degrade the country into a dictatorship. Just like everywhere else in the world.

    As the White culture dies, the remaining Whites will have to make some big decisions or just die out. Long term, civil war, secession, or expatriation. Expats are starting to increase already, but an area will need to be found that supports the White culture.

    The US is about go through some severe changes. Spiritual change will have the biggest impact, followed by political change, followed by economic change including all the climate change junk. Each will feed the others.

    A big question is who wins through all this. The PTB of the future will have to destroy all vestiges of the republic which includes the Democrat Party. Who will those folks be that will run this country for my grandson?

          Thirty-four years later, I now actually seeing the ridiculous concepts espoused in that book coming into place in our real lives. And it was written in 1949.

    Did you know that the phrase “baseless claims of election fraud” made it across the globe to the scripts of the talking heads for Radio/Television New Zealand? That is a fact. When I heard it, I remember thinking how 99% (if not more) of the people hearing it would just absorb it as “the news,” i.e., the facts. I work with young people between the ages of 10 and 18, and during the last 5 years or so, I have observed unanimous hatred of Trump. When asked why, their replies always included thoughtful words such as “bleach,” “racist” and “misogynist.” Young people sponge up propaganda so enthusiastically it makes my eyes water, and most of the adults are not much better.

    But I wanted to talk, again, of Amanda Gorman, the 2034 Dem (let’s be honest, appointed — not running) fake President (she says she wants the job, and who would dare deny it to her?)

    The 22 year-old “poet” tacked on to her fame (an interview with Michelle O!; illustrated book of poems shooting up the best-sellers lists! unheard of!, signing with a supermodel agency) by crafting a heartfelt, profound poem about … well, my words are superfluous, let’s give the lady the main stage.       The first time I ever heard of Amanda Gorman was when she read her poem at the inauguration. I must say, it was nice to see a bright, beautiful, enthusiastic young face on stage with all the cadavers. Her poem wasn’t great (not that I’m a qualified critic) but I wish her well. I hope for her sake she’s allowed to grow up in some sort of peace and not contaminated by all the media attention.

      The Super Bowl ads were a “teachable moment” for all us dullards who have STILL not gotten the message it’s time to stop pouting, wait patiently for our government checks and admit we can’t think for ourselves.

            This kind of thing doesn’t stand up well on the page. It’s really its own art form called “spoken word”. There’s competitions called “slams” – sometimes pretty entertaining though too many of them have the same cadence, as they influence each other. Poetry began as an oral tradition, so one can’t distance the two completely of course. Blacks are good at performance and like this form. A more genteel rap, perhaps.

          Ironically, I know quite a few people who have expatriated to Mexico. It’s affordable. I can’t understand why they come here. I have read that immigration from there to here has gone way down.

    That said, I cannot comment on the post itself, because I don’t know what’s going on, what the agenda is, the timeline, the actors. As 100th Avatar memorably said here, I can’t present the knowledge of others as my own.

    What I can do is think for myself, and many others here do as well. So I just picked the bits from the commentariat that made sense to me so far, and copied them here. They deserve to be read again. This is my hour of screen time, and I’m using it to highlight a seldom mentioned motive to be grateful to JHK, besides his posts themselves: providing an open forum for very interesting and intelligent comments. This may be gone soon. Take advantage of it while you can.

    Learned helplessness is not stupidity. They’re serious about cramming lies down our throats, and they’ve made it obvious that there is nothing we can do about it. Learned helplessness is a rational, intelligent response for an individual in that state. For a society it means death. If the individually crippled people could communicate with each other and learn that the individual struggling will suffer while the collective exhausts the captors, it might change things. What are you doing to build community and connection? Calling people “stoopid” does not seem to be a high-probability-of-success approach. //

    What about the Trump impeachment, leaving aside the COVID terror campaign (where a real disease with real effects has been blown so completely out of proportion due to its benefits for the political class.), as our original poster mentioned? How many people who voted for Biden wanted this as the first priority, rather than a fix to, say, the healthcare racket (Pelosi as Speaker means no chance for Medicare for all, which seems to be pretty popular in the D party.)?

          They never were. The Vietnam Stop the War protests by students and hippies existed for one reason: they were scared shitless about being drafted into it. It had nothing (or very little) to do with youthful idealism and kumbaya.

          Interesting, too, that the protests didn’t really get serious until the young (hippies included) realized that their moneyed parents couldn’t protect them any longer during the increasing expansion of call-ups from their own demographic.

          This explains what some people could never (and still can’t) understand: how could the hippies and student artists sell out, after the War, so quickly to become ad execs and lawyers? Answer: that’s who they always were. The summers of love were just lucky hedonistic sprees on pop’s dime for sex, drugs ‘n’ rock and roll.

    The Blacks and Reds, Zman

    The “Black and Tans” were a police force recruited by the British into the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC) as something like a paramilitary force or a militia during the Irish War of Independence. The majority were unemployed former soldiers who fought in the Great War, but many were criminals and even prisoners. They got their nickname from the uniforms they wore. They were supposed to help the overstretched RIC maintain order and deal with the Irish Republican Army.

    In reality, they were something like a mob of thugs unleashed on the Irish population as a form of state sponsored terrorism. While most had military training, there was no code of conduct to control their actions. They were known for their brutal tactics and their indiscriminate attacks on civilians in retaliation for IRA attacks on them. Because the men recruited into the ranks were young and had few prospects at home, they were happy to do whatever was asked to the Irish population.

    This is a useful historical example to keep in mind when reading this Time article on how the oligarchs rigged the 2020 election. Most people have fixated on the audacity of posting such a piece. Usually, people who commit crimes try to conceal their actions, but in this case, the principles are willing to boast about it. We are in the midst of a great purge of our institutions of anyone who questions the legitimacy of the election and here we have these people confirming many of the claims.

    The motivation behind writing that piece is spite, of course. The half-hearted talk of bringing unity after the election has not fooled many people. That Time piece makes clear that there can be no unity, because there will be no peace. As the article says, the point of rigging the election was to “fortify” what they call democracy, but which the rest of us call their permanent rule. They were prepared to use any means necessary to defend their rights and privileges from the people.

    One of those tactics, of course, was the unleashing of mobs onto the public starting with the highly orchestrated George Floyd incident. This was a combination of Black Lives Matter, created by the Obama administration during his second term, and ANTIFA, created and funded by the Soros organization. One group allegedly represents the interest of blacks, while the other group claims to be the inheritors of the communist revolutionary spirit. It was blacks and reds.

    This is the truly remarkable aspect of that post. For months, the evidence piled up suggesting the mobs were manufactured. There seemed to be someone or a group of people funding and directing them. Early in the Time story, it boasts “In a way, Trump was right. There was a conspiracy unfolding behind the scenes, one that both curtailed the protests and coordinated the resistance from CEOs. Both surprises were the result of an informal alliance between left-wing activists and business titans.”

    In other words, the suspicions were correct. The left-wing terror networks that operate out of not-for-profits like Pro Publica and The Bail Project, funneled cash, supplies and instructions to the mobs on the streets. That cash came from the CEO’s and their money changers in Washington, Silicon Valley and New York. This money was offered in exchange for violent street actions intended to either provoke a right-wing reaction or embarrass the Trump administration.

    This sounds a lot like what the British did in Ireland. Unable to win popular support in their crusade against Trump, they unleashed thugs with official protection to terrorize the population. State sponsored terror is a well-known tactic to control a population, but it is generally considered the bane of civilized government. This is the sort of thing you expect from authoritarian societies or occupied ones. It was something the Bolsheviks did after the revolution, which is ironic given the people involved.

    A century ago, the Irish Republican Army figured out that winning the hearts and minds of the people made British occupation expensive. When the British could not recruit Irish into the police force, they brought in the thugs that became known as the Black and Tans. These thugs only made it easier for the IRA to win the public over to the cause and the IRA was quick to take advantage of it. Eventually, the British had no choice but to abandon the tactic and disband the unit.

    Here in modern America, the situation is different, at least for now, so the Black and Reds are seen as effective. They have not been officially disbanded by the ruling regime, even if they have been sidelined. Recently, Antifa turned up in Washington, harassing diners and fighting with the police. They will no doubt be out this summer causing trouble along with Black Lives Matter. Unlike the Black and Tans, they have not been promised pensions or positions in the government.

    Even so, it is a useful comparison. The British unleashed the Black and Tans because they did not see the Irish as humans. They were a population that had to be controlled, like wild animals or maybe prisoners. The people on the other side of the razor wire and in the bunkered communities of Silicon Valley and Wall Street look at the rest of us, especially the white population, the same way. We are no longer humans, so they are free to do as they like in order to control us.

    The lesson is that in a social war, every event must be used to rally support for your side and put the other side in a bad light. The Black and Tans undermined the British position with both the Irish and British public, because the IRA made them the face of the British occupation. That is what must happen here. These mobs must be closely tied to the CEO’s and politicians directing them. The Biden presidency must be known as the Antifa presidency. Make them own their golem.

    Yoho: BLM is getting perks, apparently. So Z may be wrong about that. Antifa is more complicated, comprised of many groups and different kinds of people. Some of them are young members of the Elite who don’t have to worry about making a living. Others are complete losers who want to tear everything down for reasons they can’t explain. Others are crazed yet articulate idealists. They all come together under the shroud of the Black Bloc. All are equal then. No discussions needed. The Enemy is clear. And the ecstasy of the Action awaits.

    Will they continue to bow down to BLM – even as it joins or becomes the System and they remain outside. A complete conflict of interest needless to say.

      Kinda a fun thought experiment. If the subject matter wasn’t so grave. I propose a potential strange scenario. BLM becomes a formal, corporate activity as seems to be happening now. It’s main footsoldiers disappear into the federal and state bureaucracies while wider support is maintained by state media and state sponsored pop culture for all the supporters who never get an actual payout. Antifa on the other hand is kept at the periphery, because while helpful to the cause, they mostly are not the cause. After a period of great frustration, disappointments, and trouble many cross over to the camp of the Deplorables since ultimately that is what the regime will classify them as.

        With just such strange transformations of meanings and alliances, (“politics makes strange bedfellows”), the world is made. I think it was the scientist/philosopher J.B Haldane who said, “The world is not stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine”.

        So from that pov, the Antis switching sides wouldn’t be strange at all. Certainly as individuals at least. That can be expected. Many of them grow out of it. And when the start getting treated as white trash by the new Black Elite, the whole thing will get very old very fast.

        And if they keep some of their socialism, they could actually make a contribution. As it is, the worship of Capitalism dooms the Right to endless failure.

Is this the true nature of the conflict we see before us presenting itself as an “impeachment” trial all the while standing in for something way bigger and of far greater conseqence? Can we all at this point agree that these “impeachment” theatrics and optics at least finally put to rest any pretenses that our social contract is founded upon the Constitution and Bill of Rights? If a country has no defined boundaries or borders in practice, than what does those noted on paper mean? Same with the law and the alleged equal application of said law. Which again, sounds great on paper. But verifiably does not exist within the territory of land noted on maps as the USA. The same accusation could be made against many countries. But do those countries claim to treat each of their citizens as equals under the law? Can we finally admit we do not share a foundation? That we are not grounded together. To me that is what seems to really be at the root of it.

Now that he has ended Keystone there is pressure on Beijing Biden to shut down every oil and natgas pipeline in the United States, which would be necessary in order to reach ‘Net 0’ carbon emissions by 2050. In the short term Russian state owned oil giants Rosneft, Luke oil, and Gasprom will step up to fill any gaps in supply, as will Aramco in SArabia. Actually Russia and SArabia are pretty happy about events in the US on the energy front. Crude is already up to $60 per barrel and Beijing Biden has been in office only 3 weeks. And with increased imports there will be plenty of fuel to power up the Climate Czar’s motoryacht next summer. Sure it will be more expensive, but for the Climate Czar, and Biden’s relatives on their private enclave in the Virgin Islands, expense is not an issue.

            Years ago I read a book on negotiation. The author said that most people don’t negotiate effectively. He used as an example the power of the written word. It seems that people are hard-wired to accept the validity of whatever is written. For instance, parking garage signs state that they aren’t responsible for loss from your car being stolen while in the garage. This is not true, the author gives other examples.

            The point is that the written word has some strange power over us. We often just accept its authority.

            Except I do realize this, having read the book and agreeing with its accuracy. Therefore, I have a horrible time believing anything someone writes about. I was very surprised when I read your post about Monbiot’s claim that renewables use less energy than fossil fuels, including through manufacture. This is opposite to what I’ve read in the past.

            So my problem is that I don’t know what to believe about renewables. I guess I’ll have to do more research.

I want to see farmers grow their crops with solar panels and windmills.

For instance, other than hatred, malice, and wishing to inflict mortal harm, why do you imagine any government official would force businesses, schools, etc., to shut down for months and months because of a pandemic, force citizens to get a vaccine just to travel, all the while throwing open the border and signaling to millions of foreign nationals to come in without any testing or screenings of any kind? And if that isn’t enough to convince. The Biden administration made it clear yesterday no illegal alien will be deported after committing assaults, robberies, rape, and various other things like money laundering, tax evasion (lol), fraud, etc. These types of decisions, like making sure the power grid is vulnerable, preventing energy production, and ending thousands upon thousands of higher paying energy sector jobs, among many other things.     The reporting MD said that MDs may have to acknowledge that while the number of new cases per John’s Hopkins is 27+ million, the actual number is probably over 100 million. Hospitalizations and deaths are way down too.

    We are nearing the first vestiges of herd immunity, according to the report. The down slope will be increasing in rate as vaccines continue upping the herd immunity.

    It is about over on the original crud. Y et al were right. In spite of all the politics and BS from the “scientists”, the virus has run its course.

    If someone just learns how to kill the little suckers in vitro, so we can treat the susceptible folks, the fear this crud inspired may never happen again.

    Joe reached up with his finger and almost picked his nose. He caught himself and awkwardly went with the outside nose scratch a couple times.

    This was about a 1 or 1 1/2-minute appearance (that was certainly pre-taped) and that’s the best take they got. Just beautiful.

    Just so you can say you heard it here first, I predict that within a year being a member of organizations like the D.A.R., Mayflower Society, and the like will be deemed irrefutable proof of being a white supremacist. Many “old” families with colonial roots have their own genealogical & historical societies, some such societies dating from the 1800’s. There are as well ethnic genealogical & historical societies documenting and honoring their collective ancestors. All of it will be declared evidence of white supremacy and their members racists.         The Heritage Foundation is a political advocacy organization, not a genealogical & historical society.

        I belong to an early New England family association and also an ethnic genealogical & historical society. It is hard to imagine anyone who is not descended of a certain 1600’s immigrant wanting to join the family association nor anyone not of the very specific ethnic heritage wanting to join that association. Anyone is welcome to join however.

        Anyone might choose to join a couple other historical societies that I belong to, one being specific to a very small town that only has a couple hundred more people now than it did at the time of the 1st census in 1790 (and has never been less that about 99% white) and the other a topic-specific historical society that preserves a specific slice of history from the 1750’s that few people even in my State have ever heard of.

        People of color would be welcome in any of these organizations but thus far that hasn’t been the case. The people of 1600’s & 1700’s New England would never pass muster by today’s woke standards, thus the Democrat arbiters of wokesterism will eventually get around to declaring such organizations white supremacist in nature and their members racist by association.

        As I said, wait for it. The woke frenzy continues to build rather than abate. The erasure of Paul Revere has even begun in San Francisco. Can’t have un-woke people like him being honored.

It seems coordinated. Many are elderly. Yesterday in Oakland a 92 year old Chinese man was attacked from behind by a young Community Member, killing him.

          I have never really understood or agreed with the terms “Chinese food” or “Mexican food” or “Italian food.” After all, Mexicans don’t have a patent on the bean. Italians eat beans. Japanese eat beans. I don’t know any Eskimos, but I imagine they eat beans too. How did beans become a “Mexican” food? And what about pasta? Did the Italians invent pasta? And even if they did, so what? I eat pasta, but I’m not Italian. All sorts of people eat pasta without being Italian. So then pasta isn’t an “Italian” food. It’s just food.

Either way, I was sad to learn that the identifier “American” isn’t really appropriate for us anymore. It makes total sense since so many foreign Brown tsunamis have rendered the word into really a tool of globalism and a descriptor of what is becoming a giant borg of nothingness. But I’m just disappointed. But then maybe its good cuz then we are simply Whites and that IS our identity, a nation and race even if we don’t have our state yet. I did call Congressman Raskin’s office and the lady I spoke with basically verified that the impeachment is to ensure that DJT can’t run for office in 2024. I thanked her for her honesty.             I appreciate the friendly dialogue with you:) I’ve actually been following the Qanon theories since they first started, but not as someone who believed, I had a family member who was deep into it and trying to understand what they were talking about. He has since changed his mind on it. But, I think we can just agree to disagree on that, and that is ok!
            I live in the Los Angeles area and I spent years working for different “Wealthy people”, working as Estate manager and personal assistant to actors and extremely wealthy business men. To be honest, the Hollywood people I worked for, in general, at least what I saw, were just people who worked hard…. I’m not talking about people like the Kardashians, don’t even get me started lol! But, I once worked for a billionaire business man who was not in the Hollywood Industry, and it was terrifying. The power that comes with that money, they can buy ANYTHING.     It seems that Donald Trump was none too pleased with his legal team on the opening day. I have to agree- it was a totally incoherent shambles. At one point Bruce Castor was almost inviting (or daring) the DOJ to indict his client on federal crimes.

    How does he find them?

    Not that it will mean much … I expect that virtually all the GOP senators believe that Trump is guilty of incitement, but they don’t care – there is probably much more downside for them individually and personally if they vote to convict rather than acquit, so they will vote to acquit.

    Especially all those facing primaries / re-election in 2022, and maybe even 2024.

            Having multiple parties is only sustainable if you have a better election system – American and UK FPTP systems are the least democratic. You need proportional representation, or preferential voting (also called ranked choice or instant run-off).

            Otherwise you need very tight coalitions, which effectively come back down to a two-party system.

    I am indifferent on arguments of how constitutional or unconstitutional the impeachment is. I think of it entirely in terms of whether it is a good idea or not. I believe it is mostly a waste of time.

    while Trump is morally responsible for whipping his followers up into a frenzy for two months, resulting in two police being killed and several of their own being killed, I cannot see how he is legally responsible. He is not self-conscious enough to understand what he was doing. It appears as though he just feels like he is performing with Vince McMahon on the WWE.

Ashley Babbitt was murdered by a Capitol Officer who remains unnamed and not charged with the murder. The Capitol policeman died afterwards from who knows what. There seems to be no witnesses and no video of the incident. As far as the other deaths, there were 500,000 people there. In a city of that size 11 people would die on any random day. I guess you could say the death count was low.
