What a fatal mistake, allowing Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) to make himself the face of the Democratic Party. They would have been better off with another scion of Hollywood: the Phantom of the Opera. This grubby seditionist has marched the party into a wilderness of deceit and knavery that taints them all, and when this grotesque impeachment episode is over, a new chapter of consequences will open that should leave the party for dead.

It’s hard to think of a more loathsome figure in US political history than Adam Schiff. General James Wilkinson? Senator Theodore Bilbo? Benjamin “Pitchfork” Tillman? Joseph McCarthy? Hillary Clinton? And that doesn’t count the mere rogues and rascals like Huey Long, Boss Tweed, and George Wallace. A universe of chaos lurks behind Mr. Schiff’s slick Tinseltown façade. The impeachment he led was crippled from the start with violations of process and errors of logic of exactly the kind that drives his party’s Woke hysteria with its assaults on free speech, its vicious “cancel” culture, its reckless race-hatred, its depraved Transsexual Reading Hours, and its neurotic obsession with Russian phantoms — a matrix of beliefs that would embarrass a conclave of medieval necromancers.

Of course, the impeachment was just the latest sortie in a three-year campaign to confound and conceal the arrant misdeeds of a network of government employees in the Departments of State and Justice, the FBI, the CIA, and the remnants of Barack Obama’s White House, who are all connected and all liable for prosecution, not to mention characters in congress such as the co-seditionist Mark Warner (D-VA), who trafficked the Steele dossier around official Washington.

The “Whistleblower” in the current impeachment fiasco was a CIA agent and John Brennan protégé who had worked for Joe Biden both in the US and on trips to Ukraine when he was detailed to the Obama White House. Hunter Biden was known to be a dangerous abscess of grift years before Mr. Trump ever rode down that fabled golden escalator, and the “WB” was present for White House meetings with Ukrainian officials when embarrassing questions about Burisma and the Bidens came up. His supposed right to anonymity is fairytale and the time is not far off when he’ll have to answer for his deeds, whether it’s in a Senate committee or a grand jury.

The Intel Inspector General who ushered him into the spotlight, Michael Atkinson, was chief counsel to the same DOJ officials who signed phony FISA warrants and who ramped up both the dishonest “Crossfire Hurricane” scam and its two-year continuation as the Mueller Special Counsel investigation. All of this activity involved the same gang of top FBI officials, DOJ lawyers, and Lawfare intriguers. It has obviously been a broad attempt to overthrow a president by any means, including plenty of collusion with foreign governments. In a truly just society, this ring would be busted under federal RICO and conspiracy raps, and perhaps they will be.

You can see the next installment taking shape through the last stages of the impeachment fog. Both Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader “Chuck” Schumer have declared that “acquittal is meaningless.” Somebody ought to inform them that the hole they want to keep digging is the Democratic Party’s grave. Can there be no Democrats who are nauseated by what has gone down in their name, who understand the damage that has been wreaked by their own leaders, who are sick of re-investing in falsehoods and perfidy?

I guess we’ll find out if the impeachment concludes as expected. If, by some fluke, it happens to proceed to witnesses, the Democrats will rue the day — or the weeks ensuing. They have one hole-card to play: the Joker, John Bolton. Bring him on, I say. The result will be exactly the sort of four-flush that is the specialty of their game. Then let the defense press the appearance of the “Whistleblower” and those connected to him. In the highest kind of court, which this is, is it possible that a defendant will not be allowed to face his accuser? I can’t see any possible legal grounds for that. And if, by some act of legal black magic he is excluded, there is enough to unpack between his confederates and Adam Schiff to not only unravel the premises of the impeachment case, but also pull out the key threads in the greater tapestry of sedition and official criminality dating back to before the election of 2016.

As to the election of 2020, the Democrats are trying like hell to set the stage for disputing and negating it. In fact, that has mostly been the hidden agenda behind this hot mess of an impeachment. They will at least attempt to litigate it into a dangerous state of irresolution. Wouldn’t that be grand? When that happens, Civil War Two begins in earnest.

*

Note:  in an earlier edition, I identified Mr. Schumer as “majority” leader of the Senate when he is minority leader. Early a.m brain fart…

What is the dirt on Adam Shifty Schiff?

    • zekesdad January 31, 2020 at 10:26 am #

I think it has to do with any communication he had with the whistle blower before he came forward. Was it all a set-up? It would be interesting to see Schiff’s and the whistleblower’s phone records and emails.

Exactly, it’s all out there. From BoysTown to the Hampstead Kids to Pizzagate. It’s all there. The interesting thing is bringing the typical American sheep’s notice to it or interest in it.

The same goes for this sham of an “impeachment”. Why the Joe Biden video of him bragging about stopping the Ukraine corruption investigation (or at least getting the prosecutor fired) has escaped notice by congress, the MSM, and 50% of Americans is as frightening as it is fascinating.

          • benr January 31, 2020 at 10:53 am #

Oh it’s far worse than that we have our very own Socialist propagandists on this very message board lying through their teeth saying that video was debunked.
When called on it they deny and get snarky.

They also deny the exist of a treaty between the U.S. and the Ukraine that deals with the exchange of information regarding criminal matters. Why THAT has escaped notice by Congress the MSM and 90 % of Americans boggles my mind.

          • BackRowHeckler January 31, 2020 at 5:47 pm #

Yeah RIB, as far as I know that treaty wasn’t brought up during impeachment proceedings. Interesting.

          • fineline January 31, 2020 at 6:04 pm #

It did not escape me or anybody I know. I saw it on MSM quite a bit in fact. What do you want to know about it? MSM, especially CNN and the NY Times did a great job of informing the public about it?

What I want to know is why the do nothing know nothing see nothing Paul Ryan Congress did not do anything about it in real time? Were they too busy chasing Hilary?

Because the GOP Paul Ryan Congress chose to do nothing does not exonerate DJT from his criminal actions. The Pelosi congress saw wrongdoing and took action.

Must be the GOP. GOP Senators are openly admitting wrongdoing by DJT, butnlike Paul Ryan and company they are not going to do anything about it.

Just continue to wrap themselves in the American flag as the they burn the constitution into embers

“Why the Joe Biden video of him bragging about stopping the Ukraine corruption investigation (or at least getting the prosecutor fired) has escaped notice by congress, the MSM, and 50% of Americans is as frightening as it is fascinating.”

This nut-fudge conspiracy theory (a bit of a tautology there – all wing-nut conspiracy theories are nut-fudge) has been totally debunked – and in fact it is the total reverse of this.

Joe Biden was instrumental in having the (corrupt) non-performing chief prosecutor in Ukraine dismissed – with the concordance and support of most other western nations.

If anything, his actions could have led to GREATER scrutiny of Burisma, not less. He was not protecting his dreadful son, Hunter, and no matter how much people say it, it ain’t the case.

I agree that Hunter is scummy, Joe’s brother is scummy, and Joe isn’t far behind … he is a DINO in my view. They have made a stack on the back of the Biden name.

But none of this lessens the crime that the Dumpster committed – leaning on a foreign leader to get false “corruption” investigations of a political opponent – this is the ultimate abuse of office, and everything since it was blown wide open is totally obstruction of justice.

He has had his ass impeached, and so he should have. And the craven, corrupt Republican Senators are party to the massive cover-up, and are traitors who should be dismissed then jailed.

The Democratic Party is far from dead. That is just wishful thinking on the part of our host. How can it be dead or dying when, at least, half the country is strung out on federal benefits. The beneficiaries of this largesse identify it with the Democrats and will always vote their self-interest. Wish it were different, but that’s where we are.

    • Epicur January 31, 2020 at 12:00 pm #

“The Democratic Party is far from dead.”

No doubt the name will go on, but what is dead is the old coalition that has worked since 1932.

Both parties are looking to patch some sort of coalition together. I don’t expect a lot of success for either.

    • fineline January 31, 2020 at 6:08 pm #

If that were only true. You really cannot count entitlements such as Social Security, Medicare and military and federal pensions. This money was paid into the system by the workers. These folks are “entitled” to these entitlements. If you are paying attention, much of the recent debt is funding the paper assets in the stock market. Corporate shareholders are gobbling up all of this newly printed money causing inflation and effectively leaching the value of Social Security Medicare, etc. Why are the numbed down so quick to blame we the people when the corporations through their puppets at the FRB and Congress are picking our pockets?

  4. Pete January 31, 2020 at 10:19 am #

The Democrats already know it’s their grave, and if they stop digging, they will be thrown into it, which is why they won’t stop digging. This makes them a cornered species and dangerous.

Maybe the Democrats want to keep this going because it keeps Sanders, Warren and Klobachur off the campaign trail. After all, their treachery seems to know no bounds. Traitors, all of them.

  5. Ishabaka January 31, 2020 at 10:22 am #

If there are no witnesses, I’ll be a bit disappointed. I was looking forward to Bolton testifying how Trump refused to follow his advice and nuke Syria because of Russian interference, and Hunter Biden explain why he was the only person on earth who could provide the Ukrainians with essential oil and gas management.

I want those things too. If Lindsey Grahm is to be believed, the Biden’s will have their day in the dock. As will Clinton, Brennan, Clapper, Comey, and the cast of thousands of co-conspirators in the coup attempt.

John Bolton is a washed up chicken hawk. His record of war mongering and support for unilateral mischief speaks for itself. How he came to be offered a job in Trump’s administration is beyond weird, and how he came to be the Democrat’s hope of truth is unfathomable.

As it has already been said in the trial, that ‘public domain’ data is fair game, why doesn’t Bolton just accept Hannity’s offer to let him say what he wants on tv, and let that be his ‘testimony’ before the senate?

      • benr January 31, 2020 at 10:56 am #

Because he knows Hannity will crucify him for his lack of truth and ploy to get back at Trump for a very public firing.
He does after all need to sell books he knows at least while Trump is in office he will not get anymore cushy jobs.

        • Pete January 31, 2020 at 1:15 pm #

          I’d love to see that…

Juxtapose the text of his 8/29 interview and the ‘leaked’ excerpt from his book…

A simple, “what’s up with that?” followed by a blank stare should suffice.

      • Nightowl January 31, 2020 at 11:04 am #

I recall reading that Trump’s management style is to bring in people with different backgrounds and let them give their two cents. There is also the fact that, despite Bolton’s past as a warmongering PNAC shill, he knows a lot about a lot of the conflicts created during the Shrub era in particular.

I don’t think he had any real influence, as if he did, we’d be in a new war at the worst, and at the least, fellow PNAC ghouls like Bill Kristol and the staff of the “Bulwark” would not have a full blown case of TDS.

Trump is the closest thing we have seen to a true independent in the WH in modern history.

        • fineline January 31, 2020 at 6:10 pm #

          Hilarious!

          • UN OUT OF USA February 1, 2020 at 11:09 am #

Actually, the “hilarious” one is YOU. You clearly have a very bad case of TDS. The MSM just polled attendees at president Trump’s NJ (!!) rally and over 50% (!!) were DEMOCRATS! The man is pulling over blue collar democrats and independents, even more so than Reagan did. That surely is a sign of him being viewed as a true independent. He is NOT a party-line Republican, which is why so many RINO’s fight him. Stop being brainwashed by MSNBC and CNN, go see a shrink and take a chill pill. Your TDS may be fatal otherwise.

      • par4 January 31, 2020 at 11:12 am #

Believe Lindsey Graham? NEVER, about anything. I can think of three politicians to believe in now, Sanders, Gabbard, and Yang. Most of the rest deserve the Spanish Inquisition.

        • Daddyotis January 31, 2020 at 11:20 am #

The fact that you believe ANY politician says a lot about you already.

          • Nightowl January 31, 2020 at 11:30 am #

Never believing a politician will take one no further than always believing a politician.

            The key is critical thinking.

        • Beryl of Oyl January 31, 2020 at 12:39 pm #

          Yang isn’t a politician.

Sanders, after having the Democrats rig the primary against him (which Donald Trump told him they were doing), instead of getting mad, turned around and endorsed the woman he stepped in to stop in the first place.

He should have gone third party, or, and this is a wild idea, too much for Bernie’s commie mindset, reached a deal with not Hillary, but Donald Trump, and threw his support behind him.
Bernie has too much contempt for success, and for wealth. Someone the fact that the Clintons became extremely wealthy while Hillary held public office didn’t register with him.
Bernie became wealthy in office too.

Vermont really isn’t in such great shape that they can afford to have their Senator more concerned about Mexico than them.

        • abbybwood January 31, 2020 at 3:21 pm #

Right. When Hillary was Secretary of State, she, Graham and McCain were thick as thieves.

      • JohnAZ January 31, 2020 at 5:28 pm #

        Pete

Wouldn’t it be a wonderful thing that the war mongers, when they wag the dog, had the lead the troops into battle like the kings used to have to do.

I think people like McCain and Bolton would just go away.

  6. snagglepuss January 31, 2020 at 10:34 am #

As an interested observer with no ‘skin in the game’, ( i.e. not a citizen of USA ), I continue to speculate what the financial cost of this bad B movie is to american taxpayers. The real impeachment proceedings should be against the mainstream media who very selectively play out the days events, never providing the american public with the information that nails the issue at hand. Why not just show the video of Biden bragging about having the Ukraine prosecutor (Shokun) fired for investigating Burisma? It’s absolutely damning. Impeach the media.
Schiff is a loathsome character by any measure.

    • Nightowl January 31, 2020 at 11:17 am #

According to Tim Pool over on Timcast, there are reports coming out of the Ukraine that ex-Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin is now demanding Biden be prosecuted.

Like wow. The New York Times, huh? That shill for the morally bankrupt, corrupt Democratic nothing burgers? That would be funny if it were not so pathetic. Whatever one thinks of Trump and his lack of decorum as a sitting president it becomes more obvious every day that he has a backbone of steel given the daily backstabbing he receives from those whose every waking moment is devoted to his demise. He will be elected for a second term as president. There is no challenger on the democratic side that even slightly measures up to his resolve or steadfastness. Condemn him if you must, history will resolve him. ( borrowing that from Fidel as it seems quite appropriate. Their philosophies might be polar opposites, but their mutual tenacity awesome). If you were gob smacked by Trumps election fasten your seat belt for the next 10 months. It’s going to be a bumpy but inspiring ride.

Bernie’s people are already pledging to get violent, and Bernie has been curiously silent about that.

        • JohnAZ January 31, 2020 at 1:22 pm #

The unseen shadows dominating the Democrats are international. Their names are known. Their proponents will run the Dem Convention.

          • abbybwood January 31, 2020 at 3:30 pm #

Perez has already stacked the DNC convention platform committee with Hillary hold-overs. All of them vocally against Sanders and especially against Medicare for All.

Nobody really needs to worry about Bernie. The DNC will shoot down all his platforms even if he is nominated, then the corporate stooge Democrats in Congress won’t support any of his legislation.

Imagine the American people supporting Sanders then the corrupt Democrats stopping him.

Sadly, that is not hard to imagine.

          • Majella February 3, 2020 at 1:05 am #

Catastrophising again JohnAZ with unsupported conspiracy theory tripe.

          • Majella February 3, 2020 at 1:09 am #

Was the show of ‘A2ers’ in Virginia NOT a threat against legislation by a duly elected government? What’s the difference?

Bernie supporters – probably a very small number – are REPORTED to have threatened violence. Sound & fury, but you can imagine their frustration after 2016.

I suspect the DNC will have learned a lesson or two in the interim, but such ‘threats’ are media hype, and designed to be meat for right wing outlets.

    • Soloview January 31, 2020 at 12:39 pm #

That is my feeling, also. It is interesting to see that Jim, in his many predictions of a major societal or economic collapse, does not include a scenario I would rank as most likely to occur – i.e. a major outbreak of violent country-wide unrest igniting the smoldering political manure in the wake of some triggering event. Imagine an accidental shooting of a black protester at a Trump rally whom Secret Service believed to be an assassin. Imagine he carried.

  8. JohnAZ January 31, 2020 at 10:36 am #

It infuriates me more and more to realize what the real situation in the world is. We sit here and try to exploit Russia and Ukraine with all of these corruption charges and try to lord ourselves as the pure kid on the block. It is a crock. WE are the corrupted entity. It is our poison that spreads to the rest of the world. This entire impeachment debacle is just a precursor, assuming Trump will be acquitted, of the exposure of how really rotten this Deep State government has become. I just look at the likes of Brennan, Comey, Bolton, et al to see how corrupted things have become.

To all the Dem folks, these are the creeps that have been manipulating the government to increase the impact of the Deep State. If your goal is for government control, they are your guys. However, I believe, I hope you believe in liberty before control and recognize these people as an enemy.

“Woke hysteria with its assaults on free speech, its vicious cancel culture, its reckless race-hatred, its depraved Transsexual Reading Hours, and its neurotic obsession with Russian phantoms — a matrix of beliefs that would embarrass a conclave of medieval necromancers.”

Wow, this is vintage JHK!! I was chuckling through the entirety of today’s offering, while at the same time in wonderment of the actual chronic power that Trump Derangement System has in our American society today. How can a broad swath (almost 50%) of our populace actually watch with a straight face Schiff, Nadler, & Nancy bloviate, obfuscate, and lie with the abandon that they do while nodding their heads solemnly and prayerfully?

It’s past time to choose a side. I fear that Jim may be correct that another Civil War is upon us.

    Prepare accordingly.

A Jewish Journalist and Author, Ezra Levant, gets summoned by the Federal Police to an interrogation for writing a book critical of The Great Leader Justin Castro Trudeau. Justin is a thoroughly corrupt narcissist and commie idiot, as Ezra Levant plainly documents in his book. There were 24 other books written in that time period about The Great Leader, all of them loving of The Great Leader. None of their authors were molested by the FEDERAL POLICE.

Where is the outcry over this? Where is the outrage? Where is the media? Where are all the civil liberties organizations? Where are the publishers? THEY ARE NOWHERE!! CRICKETS!!

Tell me, James, how is this possible? How is this possible unless all these organizations are pure fiction. All fake. All of them staged, scripted. All of them part of the same commie gov mafia, which you refuse to have be named.

Remember, James, remember who they are and remember well their vile and murderous history. It has not changed, it has not ended, it has just rebranded itself under staged names and false fronts.

    Mitt Romney

Lawmakers in Salt Lake City are already working to recall this SOB. What a unadulterated drive for power. Why delay the proceedings? To try to convince more RINOs to convict the President. Why? The GOP was Romney, Bush, McCain, Flake etc in 2012. It became Trump in 2016. Romney et al have been trying to get power back since.

MIT wants to run for President in 2020 and Trump is in the way. What a perfect setup. Blame the Dems for removing him, then become a Savior for the GOP.

Go Mitt. Maybe this will put you in Mormon heaven.

    • Beryl of Oyl January 31, 2020 at 12:51 pm #

Mitt, the guy who gave us Romneycare, was running against Obamacare. Yeah, sure.
All the Democrats, save for Bernie, have now quietly decided Obamacare really wasn’t ‘health care reform’ and are running against it.

McCain was dirty, up to his neck in that phony “dossier” business, and Mitt is seeming a little desperate not to have anyone delve into the Ukraine sewer.

I believe McCain and Romney each deliberately threw their elections against Obama.
The DNC rigged the primary against Hillary.
Hillary ran the entirety of our foreign policy ‘off the books’, and Obama was aware of it; and Bernie said the emails didn’t matter.

      • Janos Skorenzy January 31, 2020 at 1:04 pm #

Far better to let people just die and get it over with, right?. There should be “areas” for people to do this out of sight and out of mind. The streets are too public. Maybe some kind of camp?

In USA election 2020, everything is ‘trumped’ by the Democratic Party ‘woke’ platform of ending all immigration controls, and letting tens of millions of Latino – er, Latinx – and other migrants arrive in the USA

This is scaring even current black and Latino residents away from voting Democrat, and voting Trump back in.

Polls are showing this – even as Trump’s former base of white voters somewhat sours on him, black and Latino voters are increasingly thinking that voting for Trump is the only way to preserve the benefits they get from the current system – which the Democrats openly say they would like to distribute to 100 million or more ‘open borders’ migrant newcomers

Trump wants them here too, “cuz the economy is so good”. Who cares if it’s “legal” – we’re being replaced. One of the mysteries of the Trump administration, to me, is the relation with John Bolton. Trump campaigned on searing crtiticism of the endless military misadventures in the Middle East, to later turn around and nominate John Bolton as National Security Advisor! John Bolton!
That before kicking him out 6 months later.

Trump just tweeted: “frankly, if I listened to him, we would be in World War Six by now”. Truer words were never spoken, but then, why make him National Security Advisor?

Anyone has a pet theory on the matter they’d care to share?

    • ellipsis January 31, 2020 at 11:45 am #

Sure. His “choice” wasn’t a choice. Some deep voices whispered in his ear that Bolton would provide a measure of protection for him and his. It’s no coincidence that soon after Bolton was canned that this impeachment fiasco began. Wanna bet that the alleged whistle blower is nothing more than a low ranking CIA stooge mouthing the words of Bolton? Put the two in a room together and watch closely. When the dummy talks you’ll be able to detect Bolton’s mustache twitching ever so slightly.

Can you believe it? What happens when people take their kids out of all such odious social experiments like public school? In Germany, that is now forbidden.

The Civil War will come if they don’t stop pushing their Agenda. Only three percent of the population is ever involved in such things. It suffices….

Most people are just filler or Non Player Characters. Meditate on this. Democracy is simply a lie on all levels.

      • JohnAZ January 31, 2020 at 1:13 pm #

Democracy denies ethnocentricity. We are seeing the failure of diversity in the USA. Even where diverse populations exist, they insist on separating themselves. The Dems profess to care about diversity, it is a crock. They have done nothing to help less affluent populations to better themselves. Why would they? It makes them less dependent on the government.

Reality does not follow the idiotic machinations of Madison Avenue.

        • WayfaringStranger January 31, 2020 at 11:55 pm #

I strongly disagree. Democracy is the only vehicle for “diversity” and protecting various heritages.
The one requirement for success is an immutable set of shared core values/rules.
Look at the many ethnicities that have come to the US and blended in enough to have jobs, homes, kids doing well in school etc yet maintaining a rich home-life and vibrant communities that preserved what they had left behind, as best they could.
WITHOUT the maladaptive and destructive community behaviors of the Islamists in Europe.
Jews have certainly excelled at both assimilating and keeping their heritage. So have Hmongs. In fact the Hmong people are an amazing example right under everyone’s noses. They get no attention or discussion. Until relatively recent decades Wisconsin was full of German and Norwegian-influenced communities that had also become quite American. When I lived out east there were large areas enormously influenced by Italians and Puerto Ricans. How about Florida? Louisiana?
Back in the dreaded Boomer era when “everything was horrible”, everything actually was NOT horrible. Before the Internet diversity was rampant. Real diversity, people being different. Today young people dye their hair blue to be “unique”, just like the guy next to them does. It’s sad in the extreme. Not only to young people have no idea what they’re doing, they have no idea what they’re missing.
Deconstruction, “unpacking”…. these are the hobbies of assholes.
When a group starts to shit on the ties that bind us all, then, yeah there are problems. But how in hell is that behavior “Democracy”? It isn’t. Democracy is not chaos. Democracy is a based set of rules everyone follows and submits to, no exceptions. Once those conditions are met and respected, you do you. But for fuck’s sake, you also leave the other guy alone.

          • Janos Skorenzy February 1, 2020 at 1:49 am #

The Hmong are crime and gang ridden primitives. Watch Clint Eastwood’s “Grand Torino”.

And taking over isn’t assimilating. There is no Center anymore: America is just a dead tree now. Conflating European Christian immigrants of yester year with the current deluge of aliens from everywhere is simply a bridge too far.

  18. scoubidou123 January 31, 2020 at 11:53 am #

I don’t see the failed impeachment attempt causing the death of the Democrat party. The empty Mueller report came out. Did that chastise democrats in any way? Absolutely not. Democrats were frustrated, mumbling that Trump was competely guilty, but Mueller was forced to just “not exonerate” him somehow for some technicality.

Now they will say that through some procedural shenanigans he was let off the hook and the Truth was not permitted to come out, and close ranks. The media will cover that angle. No one will change mind.

    • JohnAZ January 31, 2020 at 12:49 pm #

Dems and RINOs still vastly outnumber the Trumpsters in DC and still have superior influence.

Remember Carter who brought his Georgia mafia to DC instead of trying to deal with the Deep State at the time. They got him good.

      • Beryl of Oyl January 31, 2020 at 1:23 pm #

I’m remembering the supposedly liberal press as having it in for Carter too.
I have always maintained that the MSM doesn’t really have a left or liberal point of view, what they have is a media point of view.
I’ve come to recognize that what it really is, is a Globalist point of view.

Nightowl, during the period of exploration and colonization of the Americas, north and south, 1500 – 1720, European intellectuals had a theory that stated when emigrants left their homelands in Holland, Spain, England, France, and Portugal, upon arrival in the new world they began to degenerate and regress into savages in the American wilderness. It would be like if a colony was established on Mars; after a few decades us earthlings would begin to think of the Martians as a separate and distinct race altogether.

In Woke™ news of the day, UC Berkeley health services has had to apologize after advising that xenophobia may be a natural consequence of the potential coronavirus pandemic. Evidently viruses, the ultimate ancient practitioners of intersectionality (avant la lettre), will be respectful of defined racial parameters and not transmit from folks of Asian descent (one of whom was patient zero) to the rest of the planet. This is only the most recent but far from the only example illustrating that the news of Reality’s death has not been greatly exaggerated…

    • BackRowHeckler January 31, 2020 at 12:38 pm #

IOW, we’re not worried too much about the Corona virus, which in any case is racist because so far it has mainly infected Chinese Nationals.

No, we are worried that hysteria over this virus in the US, which will most certainly inspire xenophobes and Trump supporters to launch a pogrom against all Asiams in the United States.

That seems to be about the size of it.

      • JohnAZ January 31, 2020 at 12:53 pm #

It could very well be that genetics may make the Chinese more susceptible to the virus. It seems like a lot of these viruses start there. Seems like some folks need to be working on finding some answers.

        • Beryl of Oyl January 31, 2020 at 1:33 pm #

Diseases do start in crowded and dirty environments, don’t they? That’s where the Victorians got their ideas about miasma, if I remember right.

Chinese are genetically more susceptible to getting hooked on smoking, who knows what else genetics may play a role in?

          • JohnAZ January 31, 2020 at 5:43 pm #

Disease is nature’s way of controlling population growth in species. As personal space declines, vector range does too.

          • SpeedyBB January 31, 2020 at 7:37 pm #

            Beryl,

“…Chinese hooked on smoking…” is an amazing phenomenon to be sure. When I had a very pleasant visit to a “People’s Hospital” in a tier-2 city there (my pal was a physician) the doctors, wanting to practice their English, would take me into the Nurses’ Quarters (nobody around) and fire up these foul powerful unfiltered ciggies. It was a hoot.

It’s also amusing to note that when Formula 1 races in China the cameras covering the action take exceeding care not to show the vast, nearly-empty grandstands (Chinese are decidedly uninterested in motor racing, considering it a frivolous pastime of the wealthy). So why go to the trouble and enormous expense of air-freighting containers of racecars and parts all the way over there, if it’s only a TV spectacle?

            Terbakky.

The big brands are all keen on nibbling away market share of the four hundred million smokers, 20% of whom are said to be women.

        • King of Comedy February 1, 2020 at 11:24 am #

Not all but a significant number of viruses that jump species originate in China (the influenza virus is one, the current coronavirus another). It has absolutely nothing to do with the genetics of Chinese people. Viruses are tricky because they can interchange DNA with other viruses, completely altering their inter- and extra-species communicability and virulence. China has markets where many different species, domesticated and wild, are held and slaughtered in close proximity. The “wet” markets are especially egregious in this regard because they include sea creatures as well. The combination of an admixture of species that would normally have very little interaction, unsanitary conditions, etc are an ideal laboratory for viruses to do what they do. My guess is that China will move pretty aggressively to eliminate these markets especially if the death toll from this coronavirus is high but the reality is that an overpopulated planet will be particularly susceptible to pandemics. Disease and starvation are and always have been the population regulation mechanisms governing the biological world.

Reminds one of the ritual lambasting after every Muslim terrorist attack on Western soil. The greatly enlightened, these austere and scholarly personages, they mount the podium and with grim visage, they proceed to excuse the act, to attribute societal forces and despair and anger, and then to blame the victims, then to blame the rest of us for our moral and attitudinal insufficiency. As you say, racism and xenophobia.

But I’m really simple minded. I can’t help myself. I ask, why does this shit always originate in China? I have such difficulty, being such a simpleton, connecting the origin of these viral diseases to western racism. No, I look to China.

No doubt, a snowflake-run re-education camp is in my future.

Read this, or at least the conclusions, and then comment.

        • volodya February 1, 2020 at 10:13 am #

I know you relayed this to BRH so please excuse the butting in.

So, I’m no scientist, but the terminology was interesting.

“…unique inserts…” What the hell does that mean.

“…unilikely to be fortuitous in nature” Excuse me?

The commentary was just as interesting, a lot of it pissing on this usage. It ain’t no escaped bio-weapon sez one.

Okey-dokey, in the go-round with SARS “scientists” and “medical professionals” (“experts”) in various countries brought to bear vast knowledge and experience in epidemiology.

And I heard stories of nurses in hospitals crying for bio-hazard outfits and being refused in the early days of the outbreak by the powers-that-be because there was no “scientific evidence” that required their use.

IOW the tall-foreheads really didn’t know what they were dealing with but opted for the route of minimum precaution until they had hard data.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I’m just a simple mule-skinner. I just believe what I see under my nose and I’ll bet those nurses did the same. They were dealing with a vile respiratory virus that was killing people right in plain view, and while the hard evidence from the lab wasn’t yet in, they had the hard evidence of their own eyeballs.

And common sense would dictate that you take the route of maximum precaution until you know what you’re dealing with. I mean, given the obvious severity and lethality and similarity to other maladies that are readily transmissible.

But common sense has apparently gone out of style. What’s the modern-day cognitive strategy? For starters, taking leave of one’s senses. It’s a societal thing.

What to conclude from this? Well, first take into account that the Chinese are a gang of fucking liars and murderers and so you can believe maybe five percent of what they say. Add two or three digits to whatever number of cases they say they have and also the number of dead.

Next, take into account the corrupting influence of money into medicine and also politics.

What matters? Corporate bottom lines. Stock prices.

And so what’s the conclusion? It’s that what you hear from the political and from the medical realm is crap. See, they want to avoid “panic”. The risk is low they say.

Translation? Nothing gets in the way of corporate profits. And they have their personal self-interest and collective self-interest foremost. As for the Chinese, nothing matters more than the survival of the Communist Party and the privileged position of its members.

But you can make up your own mind.

As to whether the bug is bio-engineered or not, the truth is not only generally more appalling than we imagine, it’s also generally more appalling than we can imagine. Paraphrased from a blurb about the strangeness of the universe by Haldane, Heisenberg, Eddington, take your pick.

            Elrond,
Probably has to do with civil discontent…the Chinese seem prone to express dissatisfaction (certainly more so than the Canadians). I heard, on RT, several days ago that China considers this pandemic existential to the survival of the state. Of the mechanics by which the fear is engendered, I can only speculate.

This impeachment is as oriented to reality as were the rituals of ancient Egyptian necromancers. This is an exercise in avoidance, procrastination in the very best case, in the worst case a smoke-screen of the sort they’ve been using now for decades.

So much urgency in the faces and manner of Pelosi and Shumer and Warner, so much stress in their voices, as if world-shaking issues were at stake, as if the lives of millions hang in the balance. But it’s a farce, an empty proceeding, irrelevant to the material issues affecting the polity.

No matter the deepest injustice felt by Gore and Kerry and Romney and Hillary who feel they’ve been robbed of their rightful place by imposters – an alcoholic frat-boy, an empty-suit, an outright fraud – the elections aren’t getting re-done and Trump isn’t going anywhere.

Romney has waking nightmares? Hillary has PTSD? Gore and Kerry are irrelevancies and nobody aside from a coterie of Clinton hangers-on plus Never-Trumpers still wearing black, give a shit. Oh, life isn’t fair? That’s right, it isn’t.

This is a long way of saying that these idiots in Congress are wasting valuable time. No matter their attachment to a cosmopolitan world of freely moving, greatly enlightened, “anywhere people”, to the eyes of anyone that still has their marbles, this dispensation is a fairy-tale, unworkable, with no basis in logic or practicality. It doesn’t take a genius to understand this, most people do because all over the globe you see pitch-forks and torches, and to wave it all off as racism and idiocy is reminiscent of the dismissive let them eat cake-ism of French aristocracy. It didn’t end so well back then.

What is in common amongst all your mentioned people is the supremacy of their political egos. These are not team players. They need to be the boss or they are upset. Another description is poor losers.

A big change seems to happened where the opposition party obstructs and tries to destroy the opposing administration rather than spending four years dreaming up new ideas and trying to beat the current administration in the next election. This change is catastrophic to the country.

Probably a larger event as the string of history is played out and seen from a longer perspective: Effects and causes affected by the “Deal Of The Century” Middle East Peace plan outlined this week.

If Scriptural End Of Times detail is not your Forte’, then see real time commentary in “GATESTONE INSTITUTE” regarding Palestinian view and how they will call the play to their benefit or detriment.

A common thread in these recent JHK comments is the feeling of so many events pointing to a collision; human affairs political/economic/philosophic coming together in a compressed time frame. It might be a good time for more parents to volunteer time in their childrens’ grade school classes, to be available to comfort as the mood darkens, down into tender years. Childhood suicide rates are climbing…

Another aspect of the Federal Government Executive Department scandals not yet seen is mysterious accidents, overt assassination activity, and disappearance. There are shakings coming our way, and some of them near existential in effect. False Flag military adventure akin to Battleship Maine in Havana Harbor & Gulf Of Tonkin become more likely, and more lethal with so many nuclear and biological weapons in so many places.

Famine is the final decider of empires, (The Green/Pale Horse in Revelation) and it is on topic to make reference to Proverbs Chapter 23, dealing with the illusory character of wealth. Try reading Proverbs 23, after this word on wealthy ones sponsoring rehab of abandoned branch rail lines into food production districts. America is going to get through what is afoot. The question becomes: how many tens of million die owing to food distribution failure.

Introduction to famine narrative is found in William Forstchen “ONE SECOND AFTER”. See also Institute of Strategic and International Studies; updated papers on “Middle East War Consequences (Iran)”. The Middle East is a factor in western civilizations to a degree not generally understood as Mohammedanism tightens grip on the Bomb. An apolitical reference germane to these comments can be seen at BULLETIN OF THE ATOMIC SCIENTISTS, with special attention to their infamous “Clock”.

As we enter a new age of Dictators, here is an echo of the past: Sliding into the WWII abyss, Winston Churchill famously said: “I fear something extraordinary is afoot”. Amen.

Oh, I don’t know, Jay Hanson and a few thousand Peak Oil theorists and interested parties were chatting about it online a couple of decades ago, many offering up very logical prognostications for future events many of which have already come and gone with hardly an eyebrow being raised. Yes, JHK was among that crowd.

It’s figuratively more hindsight than it is speculation about the future at this point.

My passport’s up in July so I’ll have to get one of those new/old blue ones – made in Poland by a French-Dutch company. Equally priceless. Go, Global Britain. No need to worry about the Poles not coming here any more when the feckin’ government can get them to work for us in Poland!

They used to be made by HMSO, of course, before the Tories privatised it. That worked out well, didn’t it?

Farage’s two older kids will be OK for working in the EU, though – he made sure of that by getting them German passports.

Do as I say, not as I do. Same old, same old…

          • GreenAlba February 2, 2020 at 10:15 am #

Incidentally, HMSO sticks in my mind because my brother worked for them. He was made redundant when the Tory government sold them off to some mates of theirs for a fraction of what the business was worth. Because that’s how privatisation works. If you’re mates with a Tory government.

The Passport Office was a tiny part of HMSO, but after the Tories’ mates bought the whole of HMSO for a pittance, they almost immediately sold off The Passport Office for almost as much as they’d paid the government (i.e. me the taxpayer) for the whole of HMSO.

I wonder if we could find a way of blaming such things on the EU? Surely, there must be a way…

I’m not talking about public servants, dimwit, I’m talking about the ordinary people who work for businesses that are going to go under when their export market disappears. And those 30,000 people whose jobs are at risk in Sunderland as soon as seamless trade with the EU comes to an end. Which isn’t tomorrow. I know you’re ignorance is legendary on the matter but nothing of any significance is going to happen tomorrow. Nothing. No new dawn. We heard many doomsday economic predictions about the dire consequences when President Trump was elected too, GA, similar to what you’re saying about Brexit. The disaster that Paul Krugman claimed was awaiting us didn’t happen

Give Brexit a chance. At the very least Brits can now determine their own immigration policy, and elitists living high on the hog in Brussels can no longer order the UK to open its borders and let in all of Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

            (1) I haven’t mentioned any Doomsday predictions. I have specifically mentioned the UK’s biggest car plant in Sunderland which employs, directly and indirectly, 30,000 people. Nissan made it clear before and after the referendum that they would have to review their position if the Brexit vote was positive. Perhaps you don’t know how car manufacturing works in Europe, with components going back and forward between countries, enabled by the lack of customs bureaucracy and tariffs. It’s what enabled Nissan to open the plant in the UK. I have also mentioned farmers, for the obvious reason that they themselves are highly concerned, for reasons I’ve already explained. Other businesses at risk (including in Scotland) have explained their own concerns.

            (2) You seem to be confusing me with someone not resigned to Brexit. It will be give all the chances it needs and the Tory party will now have nowhere to hide and no-one to blame.

            (3) The UK is not party to Schengen and the EU has never had any ability to ‘ order the UK to open its borders and let in all of Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.’ Sorry, but this is typical drivel spouted by people who nothing about the UK’s membership of the EU. Non-EU immigration into the UK, which is what you are talking about, has never had any connection with the EU and was and is 100% determined by British governments. Mostly it is post-colonial.

          • GreenAlba February 1, 2020 at 7:21 am #

“They rank much higher in the new Hierarchy than poor or middle class White girls. ”

You’re right that some people avoided hard issues like that because of a fear of accusations of racism, but that, I’m afraid is utter twaddle. Asian taxi drivers and kebab shop owners wouldn’t know ‘rank’ (other than the taxi kind) if it slapped them on the jaw.

Overall rates of child abuse among white British and British Asian men is very similar – it’s just that this particular manifestation of it it involved Asian men because they’re the ones manning the taxis and the late-night fast food outlets. The white ones do it other ways, including via the internet. Crime almost always has a class dimension.

If you read or listen to the testimony of the girls and parents in Rochdale, for example, it comes out over and over again that they weren’t listened to by MEN, in particular, because they were ‘troubled’, ‘problematic’ etc. Look for the words in your Irish friend’s posts – they’re all there. He’s looked into it and they all lie.

Many “MEN” did believe the girls. But when FATHERS tried to do something, they were arrested by the police. And they only tried to do “something” because civil servants were studiously refusing to do anything.

Trying to make this a feminist issue is a cunty dodge. And insofar as Feminism has any real contribution to make in general, it makes itself ludicrous by allying itself with Islam as it has done.

One girl says reported how she was with two older Muslim men who were taking her to another house for sex. All three were drunk. The police saw them and arrested HER for under age drinking – and let the two Muslims go on their merry Muslim way. British policing at its finest.

Any decent Man who acted upon his better instincts in such a Police Force would soon be out of a job. Society has rotted from the head down.

” Look to what you will gain. You will gain sovereignty. ”

I am happy to have sovereignty. I am not happy to have it handed to US corporations in a trade deal with a much more powerful country, in a situation of desperation, as part of an arrangement that will allow said corporations to sue my national government in a secret corporate court if its sovereign parliament has the temerity to pass domestic legislation that risks hurting the bottom line of any of said corporations. That will be an inevitable part of any trade deal with the US. It was part of the TTIP negotiations, which incensed me so much I contributed financially to the campaign against it

That’s because I value sovereignty. And when it is pooled (not given away) in an arrangement like the EU, that is different from it being attacked in secret by American corporations. I don’t get a vote on that, because it’s a globalist arrangement.

Honestly, I haven’t the faintest idea what are or will be the bilateral trade arrangements between the UK and US. The US is an important market, but it is only one of many. You have a chance to chart new territories, as Israel did with India China Russia Africa Latin America Canada Australia, etc. You have many advantages that have been squandered and suffocated under the EU nazi-German tar-like dictatorship. You have a chance to develop and exploit these advantages: higher education, technological R&D, internet commerce, bio-medical technology, military technology, global finance, entertainment industry, and most important of all you have the ability to control your political agenda and chart new partnerships — like for example, partner with Israel instead of the Vatican’s spawned and sponsored made-up fakes that are Israel’s enemies and are really the enemies of the whole world.

The Vatican/EU is a loser, just like the car company Renault/Nissan. It is an anchor that is fast sinking and will take you underwater with it — culturally politically economically and most important of all morally and spiritually. You are better than them in every possible aspect. You proved it before and you can certainly prove it again.

Today, it is at 1.32 to the USD
From now you can check on your own 🙂

That doesn’t make sense. I’m not sure what the time scale is but if you’re talking about the cost of £1.00 in $USD, then it’s going the wrong way, ‘dearest’.

          • Majella February 2, 2020 at 4:30 am #

‘Narcissistic injury’ -as is usual in the minefield that is psychology, this term has two contradictory meanings. In the context in which you’ve now used it twice, it’s clear that this end of the spectrum applies to you:

“ narcissistic in jury…occurs when a person does not accommodate a narcissist’s insatiable need for admiration, special privileges, praise, etc.”

Sorry, NigIQwl, to have triggered you so. It’s most inconsiderate of us (GA& me). You’ll have to take your symptoms of ‘pathological loneliness to psychiatrist. We really can’t help you.

          • GreenAlba February 2, 2020 at 8:25 am #

            “Narcissistic injury is hilarious.”

Like your constant evidence-free ‘bets’ and ‘speculation’, that can’t be held to account because they’re not ‘claims’, don’tcha know…

But the funniest will forever remain for me a high-IQ super-achiever who demonstrated not once, but twice that he he is threatened by a low-IQ nobody having taught German 25 years ago. Not sad, but tragic. The insecurity would bring tears to the eyes of an owl.

The thing is, Nightowl, that neediness like that is just so much…emoting.

So we can also speculate as to why you look down your nose at your ’emoting’ American compatriots.

          • GreenAlba February 2, 2020 at 8:44 am #

            “Well…he had me fooled….”

Rhetoric is effective, EF – it works. But the thing is that volodya, with all his cleverness (and I agree with a whole lot of his analyses) can’t look outside of his own mental template.

Because he just sees ‘Brexit’ or ‘not Brexit’. I have no issue whatever with an independent UK – I just have an issue with this neoliberal Brexit.

Volodya, with all his cleverness, has never explained to me how it is OK to send your own agricultural sector – the mainstay of your very survival in the actual real world – to be a sacrificial lamb to the slaughter so that Jacob Rees-Mogg’s investment bank may prosper.

Nor has he explained to me why ordinary workers (as opposed to an intellectual concept) don’t matter. He has not explained why Scotland, Ireland and Wales don’t matter. (Incidentally the Welsh valleys didn’t vote for Brexit, but the more prosperous parts where the wealthier English incomers live – they are more than 20% of the population – voted for Brexit).

But principally, you will remember that this website revolves around an acknowledgement that the current dispensation of things (like the 13,000-mile lettuce or lamb chop) is not going to last. And that the future is going to be local, with, at most, some regional trade. So I’m still waiting for someone – anyone, either clever volodya or high-IQ Nightowl – to explain to me how shafting your own agricultural sector to the benefit of the importers of low-regulation produce from the other side of the world is (a) not delusional, long-term, (b) not neoliberal in its foundations and (c) a good preparation for the coming new dispensation of things.

Because THAT is what matters to me. I don’t give a flying fuck about Brexit per se, only about the kind of Brexit and what it’s going to lead to. Including giving away significant parts of our sovereignty to American corporations and Chinese government-addled tech companies.

A rational, responsible Brexit would have started preparations 15 years before its planned implementation. It would have prioritised the training of doctors and nurses at home instead of shutting down nursing and midwifery departments in universities because of ‘austerity’. It would have explained to people that trained nurses and doctors don’t drop off trees – they cost money to train even on top of a medical graduate’s own massive student loan costs.

They should have told people what it would cost to train the people we need from our own population and invited them to pay that cost and still vote for the party proposing it. Likewise the cost of training people to do other necessary jobs instead of poaching them from other countries.

But nobody did that or remotely proposed it. Because that’s never been what it was about.

So many questions, so many pointy neoliberal elbows shoving them aside.

          • GreenAlba February 2, 2020 at 9:11 am #

“I simply laughed at your mistake (very basic).”

            No, you didn’t.

I said ‘I used to speak German – I even taught it for a while’, and you said ‘of course you did’, in that high-IQ way you have of saying something while remaining entirely unaccountable for it.

Get over it, Nightowl, you’re a chancer and you don’t like being called out for it.

          • GreenAlba February 2, 2020 at 9:29 am #

If you hadn’t been so pathetically needy about it a second time, it wouldn’t have been mentioned.

So you don’t know how to conjugate a simple verb in archaic English? Nobody cares that you have lacunae in your brilliance, Nightowl. You’re human, we indulge you. Perhaps you should have spent more time reading the King James Bible. Then it would have been second nature to you, given it’s your own language in the first place. There’s still time. Especially since, as you confided, middle age is bringing you that increased consciousness of your own mortality (your IQ won’t help you with that, sadly – not sure if it will even help insure against dementia when the time comes, although the cycling probably will).

          • Nightowl February 2, 2020 at 9:30 am #

I said that after pointing out your (very basic) language mistake.

You tried to save face by informing us of your lengthy list of credentials, posting multiple times, just as you did again here.

You even followed me into the next week’s topic.

            LOL.

          • GreenAlba February 2, 2020 at 10:00 am #

Nope, Needy Nightowl. I just said I used to teach it and you said I didn’t. You still haven’t said what the mistake was. But given your frequent spelling mistakes in your own language, even THAT would be evidence of your high-IQ insecurity.

You said quite unequivocally in the last thread that I had pretended to speak German. I didn’t pretend to speak German – I did actually teach German. But you had kept it in your high IQ brain all those months and couldn’t let go. Like you said, nobody cares. Except you, funnily enough.

Your high-IQ insecurity is sad, Nightowl, but lying is a sign of poor character, which is more serious.

It’s not unusual for clever clogs to get insecure. Sometimes they get that impostor syndrome thingy because they can’t quite believe how clever they are and that they got to work in a high-powered globalist company even when they claim to despise globalism.

          • Majella February 2, 2020 at 3:26 pm #

            NigIQwl

            Here you say:

“You tried to save face by informing us of your lengthy list of credentials, posting multiple times, just as you did again here.”

A nasty little trolling comment, unworthy of you (surely).

            Yet here you also asked:

“List your credentials for us again.
            That will impress everyone.”

The inherent contradiction unlines your boorishness.

          • GreenAlba February 2, 2020 at 3:52 pm #

Majella, I actually remembered the context of Nightowl’s repeated fuckwittery around his obsession with my career history. Nothing even to do with a ‘(very basic) error’.

I offered the neuter word ‘Mädchen” as a tongue-in-cheek counter to some word gender category or other he mentioned. He pointed out, with his usual pedantry, that all diminutives ending in ‘-chen’ are neuter, of which I was well aware (he’d forgotten to include a proviso in his generalisation).

I said I realised that, as I used to teach German. As I recall I even included a smiley in that self-deprecatory way that neither Americans nor Germans (nor Owls) seem to share with us Brits. He inferred I was lying, based on nothing but the kind of person he is. Now, I don’t care how much people disagree, even vehemently, with my opinions, otherwise I wouldn’t still be here, but call me a liar and I get peeved.

That was it. And he couldn’t let go so had to bring it up again on the previous thread just because he could cope with… not being able to cope with a simple ‘floweth’ in his own language. Like I said, sad.

I guess it comes with the territory when you’re a High IQ Individual. Inadequacies, even when they have no importance whatsoever, dent that self-image.

          • Nightowl February 2, 2020 at 4:15 pm #

Thanks for the recap of that bullshit from LoIQwl. It had slipped my mind. (He had a go at me recently about not being able to translate a German remark without using Google. I’m certainly not fluent and can’t speak with any confidence, but I studied German for all my high school years and lived in Lubeck for close to a year, so I have a passing familiarity and can certainly read the language. Still, no opportunity to denigrate is passed over by this verrückt one.)

What’s so galling about him is his own deep lack of self-awareness. He’s even unaware that his rampant narcissism is being illuminated by that classic symptom – ‘projection’.

His self-congratulatory posts, claiming some sort of imaginary victory over ‘low IQ people’ who lack ‘reading comprehension’, really underlines just how screwed up he is, and I fear he’s on some sort of trajectory towards an episodic breakdown. If he disappears for a few weeks soon, he’ll probably be on a court-imposed mental health break.

Still, it’s encouraging to note that few (if any) hereabouts join him in his pathetic rantings, denying the obvious & screaming for ‘evidence’ all the time. Einstein nailed this particular symptom of insanity with his observation about repeating oneself endlessly expecting a different result.

It could be the Trumpian Effect, though. Perhaps some of our ‘fellow travellers’ hereabouts are loath to call him out for fear of bringing his incessant, demeaning nastiness upon themselves, too.

I know you – you were represented in every high school I ever attended.

You’re the smug little shit no-one can actually stand because, being so clever, all you can do is compensate for your lack of internal confidence and friends by spewing nasty ‘jokes’ and picking on a few selected ‘easy target’ types – as you see them – in the class, then laugh at your own supreme cleverness, seeking the attention and approval of those you admired. It was never forthcoming but you persisted.

Most people tolerated you, but you’re such a stereotype – craven, egotistical – and no doubt you copped a few beatings behind the bike-shed for your trouble over those early high school years, but you didn’t learn a thing.

I’m not dismissing your concern overall, EF. My daughter, as you know, is in Singapore. By yesterday they had 13 cases in their tiny country but she says the information is good and they’re all being issued with masks (I saw that on the BBC news channel anyway – I can admit that to you since you quote them often!) and people entering or returning from China are being quarantined, as returning Brits are here. Anyway, she’s not overly worried, although she’d obviously rather not get it. My next door neighbour, on the other hand, has a daughter married with two tots in Shanghai. I haven’t seen her but I expect she’s more concerned.

We’ve got two confirmed in Newcastle, last I heard. I think the Scottish ‘possibles’ were cleared.

It’s good to be wary but Sg daughter tells me Twitter’s full of fake news on the matter, so it’s obviously going to be difficult to know what in particular to be concerned about.

All classes and after school activities at Three Rivers Local School District in Cleves were cancelled for Thursday, Jan. 30 and Friday, Jan. 31. because of a major flu outbreak.

Superintendent Craig Hockenberry said out of nearly 2,400 people who attend or work at three schools on campus, about 600 students and as many as 50 staff members are out sick.

Many of the students have the same symptoms, such as high fever, vomiting and body aches

For you Andrew Yang fans, his support in Iowa rests at 3.8%. Not good, but I could see him or Tulsi Gabbard as a VP pick tho.

Maybe Yang, not Tulsi, she is sideways to HRC who still controls the DNC.

A coyote came by the other night.

She did no say much but she made it perfectly clear that she does not profess to knowing anything which apparently is the case for all of her kind.

It seemed rather odd that despite being in possession of no knowledge her species arguably has a brighter future than Homo sapiens.

She offered me a vole but I declined as graciously as I could, being that it is all that I can do to get down insect larvae.

“See you on the other side”, she howled back as she soon loped into the darkness, lighting up my livestock guard dog who dearly does not appreciate coyotes or the more deadly other predators.

“Can there be no Democrats who are nauseated by what has gone down in their name, who understand the damage that has been wreaked by their own leaders, who are sick of re-investing in falsehoods and perfidy?”

Yes there are but they’re called “traitors” and scolded into silence. Even though the Mueller report showed Trump was not Putin’s best friend but Michael Steele was certainly Hillary’s, virtually every Democrat I know is still talking about “Russian collusion” and how the 2020 election will be “stolen”!!! The facts are meaningless. Just as Republicans with a shred of integrity or sanity hung their heads in despair during the Bush years, so do the few Democrats who’ve clung to the ability to think, despair for the future. It’s impossible to watch Pelosi state that any verdict other than guilty doesn’t matter and have any faith in the Democratic Party.

I am actually laughing at these immature sore losers whining over their latest failure to get Trump. Trump needs to clean house in his administration, stop pretending he can make a deal with the Deep State and use every power he has to destroy the DS.

What is next? Schumer and Pelosi say that that Trump is an injured President. Just like they all said right after the inauguration. I hope that Trump does not give any more credence to these malcontents than he has up to now.

What I have learned from this whole thing is how bad off this country will be if these Dem leaders ever get into power.

I wonder if they’ll have a “Keto Diet” option on the menu in the quarantine internment camp? I wonder how much Corrections Corporation of America, Inc. will be charging to stay in the quarantine camp? I read that the first big government contract that Corrections Corporation of America got to run a camp to house illegal Mexicans in California was a bankrupt motel bought up on-the-cheap that they just strung some barbed wire around. Very profitable…. These quarantine projects could be big business? Put everyone in a quarantine camp and charge high rates? The People will be ok with it as long as they get beer, corn chips, and TV….

Some say Trump is playing 4 dimensional chess, but his actions are more akin to rote checkers. Trump justifies his appointment of Bolton, by claiming he begged him for the job. The president then states if he took Bolton’s advice, we would be in WW6. WTF? You can’t drain the swamp by stocking it with Bush-Clinton swamp creatures. Trump’s appointment of Bolton viewed in its best light, reflects horrible judgement and from its worst, duplicity. After 3 years, Hillary still slithers free and now the Biden crime family has parlayed Trump’s misstep into a pass. But for Trump’s bungled approach, Biden’s quid pro quo would have been a lay down for the DOJ. While the president’s supporters can claim victory Bolton will not be called (yeah team) the American people have been denied the testimony of Joe and Hunter Biden under oath. If we pulled on that string, you can be sure more than those two empty suits would have been dragged kicking and screaming out of the swamp.

The plague came into Europe from eastern China on the Sik Road carried by Mongol armies. The Khan’s army surrounded Sevastopol in the Crimea in a year long siege, rats in the Mongol supply train making their way into the city, then onto merchant ships headed to Vienna. After that, the apocalypse.

Now the plague arrives onboard Boeing 777s, landing at LAX.

    • JohnAZ January 31, 2020 at 9:37 pm #

Venice. And it spread like wildfire.

The real cause of its rapid spread was that there was too many people in Europe causing folks to move to and create cities. Hygiene was not even understood at the time so the cities were ripe for a communicable disease carried by fleas and rats. Something as simple as lots of cats could’ve put a big dent in the epidemic, but no one knew.

Anyway, look at today, we are doing it again, in China and here too. Overpopulation is lethal! Mother nature’s ability to mutate and create new more virulent strains is increased with crowding.

      • venuspluto67 January 31, 2020 at 11:14 pm #

In fact, they killed the cats because they thought cats were helping to spread the disease. Having all that poop in the streets probably wasn’t such a great idea, either. (Say what you will about the Jews, at least they knew not to do that.)

The Chinese nuclear power plant management is now probably Brain-fucked trying to make their radiation suits into dual-use biohazard hazmat suits to keep out the corona virus? Some local Chinese governments have probably issued blanket stay-at-home quarantine orders without making exceptions for the nuclear power plant workers?

Marcus Aurelius sent a trade delegation from Rome to the Imperial City in China in 165 AD. Silk, Romans loved that finely textured fabric that came from the east. Then, in 1347, east and west would meet again, in the Crimea, when Mongol Hordes launched a siege on Sevasopol, and launched flea bitten, plague wracked POWs over the wall with catapults. The plague was soon carried into Europe on merchant ships. Crimea was central to world history in 1347, and it is central to world history in 2020.

And speaking of Crimea, it was the 1st New England, Anglo Saxons having migrated there after being driven out of England by the Normans at Hastings in 1066, making their way to Constantinople, serving in the Vanation Guard, then establishing settlement on the Black sea. You can dig around and still find relics they brought from England.

Adam Schiff has been a model of articulate reason, and who will be on the right side of history for a century to come … all the Republican Party reptiles will rot in hell. Not one of them has a reputation that will endure, let alone shine.

If you could predict the weather 100 years out, yes you could also predict what historians will say too. After 100 years even the effect of soft star light will produce a chaotic path which will deviate from all prediction.

Prediction attempts to extract certainty from a minimum of facts. We should not let prediction bedazzle us so much.

Schiff is a proven liar, over and over. Articulate reason, my foot. The Democratic leaders in the House are the most immature group I have ever seen in DC, bordering on senility. Their preparation for the trial was stupid, right out of Hollywood.

Where does your weird, unhinged and definitely unhealthy hatred of Trump come from. He must have done something to you personally to explain your obvious vitriol.

I will tell you something. If the Dems do not stop the anti-Trump s**t right now and start supporting their platform and candidates, Trump is going to out Reagan with his landslide in November and sweep Congress. I will be looking forward to seeing Nancy hand over that gavel again.

      • Cargill February 1, 2020 at 1:31 pm #

Firstly, I don’t need your tired “floor is yours” meme – I’ll write if I like, when I like, and about anything I like, comrade.

Secondly, you go on and on endlessly about “what crime?”, as if a federal crime needs to be proven in order for impeachment to be warranted … a total nonsense – read your own flawed constitution, and the federalist papers.

Thirdly, it isn’t up to the Democratic Party to try and to convict a sitting president of any crimes – the House holds an impeachment inquiry and uses the test of high crimes and misdemenours – and you know full well that crimes are not required.

Fourthly, the Administration’s own agency came out and stated clearly that the withholding of the funds for Ukraine was a serious federal crime – presidents do not thwart Congress in respect of spending approved funds.

If that doesn’t warrant impeachment, then what does? Trump did not withhold the funds in some strong-arm tactic to get a little country to do its bidding – the Trumpster Goons lent on Ukraine solely to get dirt on Joe Biden through Hunter Biden.

If that isn’t an impeachable offence, what is?

And finally, Trump has not been acquitted or exonerated – nothing could be further from the truth – the Senate has used its bare numbers to dismiss the articles, WITHOUT EVEN HOLDING THE TRIAL THE CONSTITUTION SAYS THEY MUST, AND THEY SWORE AN OATH TO DO.

All Republican Senators should be thrown in jail – they are traitors.

        • Nightowl February 1, 2020 at 2:19 pm #

And I am tired of your trolling.

I don’t smell anything remotely High Crime-ish or Misdemeanor-rish. This business of telling the Ukraine to look into the Biden grift can have multiple motivations, not one of which is treason or any other of the nasty stuff meriting removal from office.

If a politician is told to stop practicing politics ie digging dirt on a rival, like what was done to Trump, then the politician will be running the 100 with a ten yard handicap. I mean tell me, because I was born yesterday, that Barry O wasn’t in on the scheming against Trump.

RE: Obama. Trump has said himself that it goes all the way to the top.

          • Cargill February 1, 2020 at 9:25 pm #

You know you’re winning when people who disagree with you accuse you of “trolling” … sure sign of defeat, comrade.

Trump was impeached for abuse of power and obstruction of justice – easily within the ambit of “high crimes and misdemeanours” most reasonable people agree.

If the Senate dismisses the articles it is NOT an acquittal nor an exoneration … Trump and all the Trumpsters well know that.

We’ll see what November brings, however I am sorely disappointed by the Democratic field … more old white people is the last thing the country needs.

The problem you have is that I speak the truth – genuinely fair and balanced. You can burble on all you want inside your ultra-far-right bubble, but really – what is the point of that?

It’s actually a favour I do you – offering up genuinely fact-based opinions and a different view … part of life’s rich tapestry. Without the likes of me and a few other intelligent soles, you would all be wallowing in nothing more than a swampy soup.

I know a lot of Republicans are hoping that this badly-orchestrated impeachment theater will help Trump in November. But this refusal to call any witnesses is just a really bad look that I cannot imagine redounding to Trump’s benefit nine months from now. So I guess he’ll just have to spend September and October focusing on those civilization-ending Transgender Reading Hours then, won’t he? :-/

    • BackRowHeckler February 1, 2020 at 6:22 am #

Congress called 17 witnesses, then prevented Republicans from cross examining them. That’s what he’ll focus on.

It’s not the Republicans fault that Congress presented an incomplete case. There really wasn’t any case, as Jim points out. So why should Republicans keep the show trial going any longer?

And yes, Trump will hammer the cultural issues you seem to mock. It’s a winning strategy.

      Brh

      • Nightowl February 1, 2020 at 7:19 am #

And the fact that they want new witnesses because the 17 they had backed the President. And it is on video.

Fact is, they rushed it, and couldn’t find anyone willing to lie under oath.

And the biggest error of all: they had no actual crime to charge him with.

You can’t create a narrative when you botch every single angle you might have had.

        • volodya February 1, 2020 at 12:36 pm #

It’s really disturbing, with uncountable oligarch trillions at their backs, plus the more countable but still titanic billions of the American Deep State at their disposal, which reputedly has decades of practice and expertise in fakery and deception, plus the millions spent in the two year investigation into what time Trump takes a shit, the best they could do was this shambles of a story about Russians with that preposterous Steele Dossier, not a stitch of which held up, plus a nonsensical fable about overseas hacking of DNC servers of which the FBI never took possession (a howling case of investigative mal-practice if there ever was one), plus this fool-assed Ukraine gambit.

Was this the work of the elite, the best and the brightest, graduates of America’s most selective schools? Jesus save us. This was incompetence and carelessness on a monumental scale encompassing not only the various branches of the US government but also their allies in the msm.

The more time passes the more it becomes obvious that the best-before date is long expired and that Trump deserved to win in 2016 against this enfeebled, spavined, senile, disordered, farcical dispensation administered by the most ludicrously halt, lame and unable.

Who can do it, how do they win against Trump in November, that’s the question. As the clock ticks and as Democrat oldsters shed brain-cells along the campaign trail, it looks like more and more of a long-shot.

Marlin – you could answer the rebuttal, or acknowledge that your statement was false.

As to the vagrants in Ca 28th…that’s quite a large area, comprising parts of several civic jurisdictions.

The median income is high at $65,849 while the ethnic mix is heavily white: 55.3% white, 2.3% black, 13.5% Asian, 25.7% Hispanic, 3.2% other. So, these vagrants – what do you propose should be done, and by whom?

I gather you’re in Connecticut (?) so I guess you can’t hand out bottles of water and sandwiches in California.

This is completely false and you know it is.

There was not a SINGLE witness who appeared before any House Committee who was not able to be cross-examined by Republican members of those committees.

Not a single one. Who are you trying to convince with these blatant falsehoods?

If it lasts a week, I will be surprised.

The election will depend on what happens between now and then. The Media and therefore the people have 1-2 week memories. Hillary May have lost because of that last release by Comey.

Watch the coronavirus. A lot of judgement about this government may depend on how far it expands and what it does to the two economies. Our barometer, the stock market, does not like it at all. China is partially shutting down. We do not need this right after the China trade deal.

The second biggest joke is the polls. The first is the media that produces them, including Fox.

The standard of evidence you demand of others is not to be seen in your own sources of spurious information:

“In review, The Duran publishes news and opinions with a conservative and pro-Russian perspective, such as this: Roger Stone Shines New Light on Russia-Gate Hoax. This story is copied and pasted directly from the pro-Russian Strategic Culture Foundation. In general, all articles involving Russia are positively slanted such as these: Russia Grinds Out Wins In Europe and Trump boxed in on Iran, as Putin holds key to prevent war in Persian Gulf (Video). Many articles are poorly sourced to Russian Propaganda outlets such as RT and Sputnik.

When covering the USA, the Duran demonstrates a conservative bias with frequent articles denigrating the left such as this: Rudy Giuliani DESTROYS Hillary Clinton, “America’s Number One Crime Family” (Video) and this story promoting a conspiracy theory, NXIVM Sex-Cult Prosecutors Have Evidence Of Illegal Clinton Campaign Contributions For “Political Influence”. This latter story is copied and pasted from the right wing conspiracy website Zerohedge.

      • SoftStarLight February 1, 2020 at 1:52 pm #

I have a conspiracy theory for you to consider. Wuhan Flu or the 2019 novel coronavirus is a synthesized virus. Probably developed in one of the two bioweapons labs located in Wuhan. I have been following the outbreak and reading as much as possible about the virus for over a week. Each day, I have noticed a decrease in online content from non-mainstream sources regarding the virus. There has been almost a complete shutdown of non-government approved posts out of mainland China. No more videos from doctors and nurses in China showing overwhelmed hospitals and dead people laying everywhere. Asymptomatic transmission is possible for 7-14 days upon infection. Allegedly the virus shows a relationship to other bat coronavruses. However, what makes this virus weird is that it also shows similarities to coronaviruses found in snakes. Transmission of such a virus between mammals and reptiles would be highly unusual as scientist don’t yet know how it could adapt to warm and cold blooded animals. It’s also a certainty that China with its secretive, save face culture is lying about the number of infections andvthe true mortality rate among the infected. There are suspected cases in dirty and densely packed India, Africa, and South America now.

Ok, well some scientists were saying that it would be very unusual for such a virus to be adapted to warm and cold blooded animals. So the question would be is that true or not. Do you know?

          • Majella February 2, 2020 at 7:52 pm #

            SSL

No, I don’t know. Not any sort of a scientist, and the warm/cold blooded quandary is real. However, it’s speculated by scientists that that was a vector that may have brought this virus into the human population. We can only wait to see what’s proved or not, eventually.

If anything, I was dismissing the ‘bat soup’ postulate you offered.

Rest easy Captain, while the carcass still does twitch, and while some of its neurons still do spark, I think this Republican thing is not long for this world.

          But.

I know, everything you say before the word “but” doesn’t matter.

But… the problem is what rises from the ashes, because something will rise.

While I’ve downplayed the fascist characterization many times on this site as I think that fascism had its day as a by-product of conditions in the last century, that’s not to say that things can’t get exceedingly nasty. That’s if human history is any guide and it usually is.

If I were looking for fascism I’d look for it on the other side of the political spectrum. No matter, even there, I don’t think that whatever takes shape will have more than a passing resemblance. One hopes.

Majella, it’s a real interesting thing to watch Republican senators and representatives. These are guys that grew up with straight up Republicanism with their morning oats and most of them walk around now with this disoriented, stunned look, like Mike Pence, who can’t quite believe where he’s at and what he’s doing.

Even Chuck Todd said this morning that we’ve seen the break-up of both parties, with Sanders and Bloomberg both having a shot at the Democratic Party nomination, neither one of which was actually a Democrat five years ago.

And what’s the matter with you today? Craven, you call them? Didn’t sip your morning vinegar? These low-down pigeon-shits don’t deserve the compliment. There’s nothing lower than Wall Street Republicans except maybe Wall Street Democrats but these are Wall Street Republicans, nothing more, hanging onto Trump’s coat-tails, with zero sympathy for the interests of the people that voted for Trump. This is as cynical as politics gets, trying to find some other lucrative work before they abandon ship.

The thing is this, it ain’t over. I wish it was but the corpse still twitches. There’s still Republican true-believers out there feeling like there’s work to do, their agenda unfulfilled, pension funds left to plunder, entitlements still to eliminate, entire populations to ruin, but all for the exalted purpose of enriching the rich (so you see it’s not all for nothing). And hopefully there’ll be a few bucks for the remaining stalwarts. I mean, we’re not communists, there should be some just reward.

I’m not answering your ‘question’ because it isn’t an ACTUAL question. It’s nonsensical.

Perhaps if you could re-state it coherently, it’ll get a response.

I’m not going to restate anything because my questions are very coherent. If you are unable to respond, well I think that says everything I need to know.

            SSL
No doubt you’re well aware, courtesy of NastIQwl, that my reading comprehension leaves, apparently, much to be desired. Perhaps this is why I can’t parse a coherent question from your word salad. I’d really appreciate you having another go at it, if only out of pity.

            SSL

This may or may not be addressing your ‘question’ but I’ll offer this anyway.

You ask whether Maori should be “eager to dive into the melting pot?” I’m not sure what your intention in asking this is, but I can tell you that there are probably no ‘pure blood’ Maori left. At all.

From the earliest times, Maori embraced the Europeans in order to acquire the technology they brought with them. They traded across the Tasman with the Australian colonies from the early 1800s. They intermarried (sorry – miscegenated!) with Europeans from the earliest days.

While there are (probably) no ‘pure blood’ Maori any more, there are plenty of people who are obviously Maori by their appearance. Likewise, there are many Maori who don’t look in the least bit like the genotype. It’s the luck of the genetic draw.

A very good friend of mine is a teacher in his late 40s. He teaches Maori, Kapa Haka, and music at a Dunedin state-funded high school. His name and looks are Maori (last name is TeNgahue) and he has a very attractive brownness to his skin. Yet his mother is a Pakeha, and his grandmother was also.

In fact, his father ADVISED him to NOT marry a Maori woman (find a nice Pakeha girl) and he took the advice, having produced three children over two marriages. His younger two are girls aged 8 & 6. The older of them has his looks and colouration while the younger is a stunning blue-eyed blonde.
However, she’s as much Maori as her father & sister and older brother, and is anyone who can recite their whakapapa.

“Maori” ness is a concept that’s difficult to explain. It’s as much about identification as lineage. There’s a number of Maori who don’t identify (and generally don’t look like Maori either). There’s plenty of Maori who don’t look like Maori but identify as Maori and are active community members.

So, a melting pot? It sure is and always has been. Eventually, it’s expected that all New Zealanders will statistically have some Maori blood in them. No worries – this place is our Turangawaewae and we rub along pretty well. Maori have been in renaissance culturally since the 1970s and we all – all New Zealanders – are benefiting from it.

Here’s a Maori but you’d never know it:

How sad. There are still some pure blooded Indians left – and at their best, their beauty is incredible. Sure maybe a half breed could fit into their culture if raised up in it. But I wonder if such a person could ever excel in it, as in becoming a Medicine Person, Shaman, or Elder. Or be accepted as such even if they had the expertise.

By the way, it’s “nigger”, not “nigga”. At least try to pass yourself off as an educated racist.

          • BackRowHeckler February 2, 2020 at 1:31 pm #

I keep a copy of ‘The Education of Henry Adams’ handy and try to read it thru at least once every few years. A seminal work of 19th century America, and very prescient too. At one point, Adams, at the end of the Civil War, describes looking up at the moon and predicting aircraft built in America would some day fly there. At the same time he predicts the automobile, commenting anything was possible in the dynamic new America which was developing before his eyes but which he was having trouble coming to terms with. (The theme of his book )

Not yet a subject on the History Channel, but would make a good one nevertheless.

  52. JohnAZ February 1, 2020 at 5:48 pm #

All you folks arguing Republican vs. Democrat still do not get it.

This country has a split personality. We are a fairly well off 50% along side a relatively impoverished 50%. Our middle class has deteriorated.

This is a restructuring of the population from what it was fifty years ago.

Then you had a large group of manufacturing folks that made good money due to union action. These jobs have declined enormously.

The GOP represented the entrepenuerial business sector that tirned into the big corporate entities we have now. The unions represented the working folks. These folks were represented by the Democrats.

No longer. The fairly well paid manufacturing class has turned into the service sector working minimum wage. The Deep State made this happen as they allowed manufacturing to move off shore by taxing the heck out of the businesses.

Democrats turned to minorities, immigrants and kids for votes allowing in a horde of gimme illegals and loading up the universities to brainwash the kids. The working class became a forgotten group, unions declined and the Rust Belt rusted.

GOP still supported the big business group, but they left. Until Trump they had very little going for them. The tea party was a reaction to the drift away from the GOP that the population was doing.

So here comes Trump. He is taking the GOP away from large corporations towards Main Street and medium business by lowering the business tax base and encouraging national manufacturing growth with less regulation, lower taxes and tariffs to get better trade deals. He has created jobs and increasingly good jobs in all sectors but especially in the Rust Belt. So now Trumps group owns the improving economy and the former union folks.

The Dems are in a hard way. Their move away from the middle America toward the minorities is blowing up in their face. The Progressives own about 20% of the population, and the Dems have managed to alienate a lot of the rest of their former constituency.

Needless to say, both parties are in a quandary, both developing split personalities. It will be interesting to see what happens to the two wings of both parties.

This fall we may have the widest political split between the candidates ever. Trump represents “old” America and Bernie (?) “new” America. New America unfortunately favors socialism on the extreme Left all the way to Communism. Dumb kids want their indulgement to continue getting free tuition and their debts paid for them. Illegals want their welfare to continue. New America represents folks who are dependent on the government. Old America represents independent folks, people with individual responsibility.

The Dems have a problem. As folks mature in our economy, they turn to the Right to protect their capital accumulation. Dems need fresh meat continuously. Hence, no wall, pay for tuition, lie to the minorities about how much they are doing for them

Polls show that among the minorities, their maturity is starting to make a difference. Trump is chipping away at the Dem monopoly by providing an economy that gives equal opportunity instead of government dependency.

So, IMHO, we are going to have two parties. Trumpers and Progressive Democrats, in the short term. If the Trumpers stay successful, “old” America will prevail. If Progressives win, the nation will move toward socialist government control.

As one sector of the population comes into control by becoming the majority, uniparty control may be in the future.

Will the other side go quietly? History indicates NO!

    • SoftStarLight February 1, 2020 at 6:50 pm #

Or it could be more complicated. I think there is far less consensus than a simple 50/50 split. Political power of any persuasion at this point is concentrated in the hands of the super wealthy, connected class. Even though Trump’s a billionaire he is clearly not one of them. Not of the Globalist Marxist faction of the Elite. Though yes, he is tied clearly to the Zionist faction. America is dying because the foreign Browns are taking over. Until that is dealt with nothing is fundamentally going to change for the White working and middle classes.

      • JohnAZ February 1, 2020 at 7:22 pm #

Unless Trump can really defeat the Deep State (remember that includes RINOs), the trends of immigration and education will just continue. He had two years of GOP control and was unsuccessful, not because of the Dems, but the RINOs. When it comes to protecting the Deep State, it is the DS before party.

As I said above, this will be Deep State party (Progressive) against the Trumpsters.

    • PeteAtomic February 1, 2020 at 7:16 pm #

I think u speak a lot of truth there, John.

    Well,

It was reported that there is a global disease that, like clockwork, kills over 600,000 people a year. 600K! There is no cure, and there is a decent chance that you might get it…you might even have it now.

It’s called the flu. The seasonal flu. Every year.

What is being done? Not much. What is NOT being done?

    Closed borders,
    Millions in quarantine,
    Flights cancelled,
1000 bed hospitals heroically built in 10 days,

…go figure. They must know something we don’t.

Actions speak louder than words. Do populations of 50 million or more get quarantined annually during routine influenza outbreaks? I don’t recall. Yeah, for a normal (not novel) coronavirus it usually is the case that the flu is a greater health risk in comparison. The flu wouldn’t however compare in any way to a synthesized virus that can penetrate hazmat suits and persist in the ambient environment for months. And would the highly secretive Chinese government even tell the truth? Just food for thought. Or I could be off the deep end and its just a bad cold and it’s time to move on.

I figure it is all about how good your immune system is. I was in the field on an ambulance for 32 years. I was probably exposed to more bugs than the average person. In the field you get to be immersed into a truly pathogen contaminated environment, unlike the hospital where the environment is mostly controlled. I’m talkin’ sick rooms with puke and shit all over the place. Anyway, knock on wood, I catch a cold maybe every 10 years and had the real flu probably 25 years ago. When I got that flu I was a young buck and felt like I was gonna die.Temp of 104.5 F. If was an infant or elderly I would not be surprised if it would have killed me. It laid me up at home for a 2 full weeks. The Spanish flu pandemic in 1918 had a high mortality rate for young adults. Lets hope this is not a repeat.

My wife and I both caught the flu back in 1994. We were fine in the a.m. and sick as dogs by the afternoon. Hit us like a freight train. High fever, not as high as yours but a real bitch anyway. Lasted a week or so.

V, the day I got the “FLU’ was probably around ’94. I was at work on the box at 08:00 feelin’ fine. About 15:00 I I felt like shit, I had a nurse in the ER take my temp at about 17:00 , uh oh 103! I was down for the count for two weeks and I am never sick.I have always had a Flu shot since then. Better safe than sorry. Anti vaxxers are messed up.

Doctors used to say if you’re in bed and you see a £20 note (adjust for inflation) on the floor and you can get up to pick it up you haven’t got ‘flu. In fact if you even care that it’s there you haven’t got ‘flu. Having had it 35 years ago when young and healthy I’d agree. I didn’t care if I died, and I had a two-year old in the next room, also with ‘flu, and my mother there, likewise with ‘flu. Thankfully antibiotics got me on my feet in a couple of days, before the others started to pick up.

But when it comes to the actual Long Emergency, ‘flu will be a relatively gentle way to go (compared to other hypothetical options), for us older specimens. They don’t call it ‘the old man’s friend’ for nothing.

        • BackRowHeckler February 2, 2020 at 5:30 pm #

I wonder why the big brouhaha is about Coronavirus. I look at a Weather Channel map of the seasonal flu and it looks much worse than the Chinese maps of Coronavirus. And seasonal flu takes out folks with weak immune systems, kids, and old folks mostly.

Is Coronavirus really a Spanish flu reborn that all the government agencies are reacting so much? Is it more dangerous than regular flu? Is it more dangerous to Asians than Westerners? How many people wear masks to protect themselves from The Flu?

There are various theories – some arguing that older people had developed immunity over the previous 20-30 years, and very young people were not out fighting wars, moving around, and congregating in large numbers.

There are some things we’ll probably never sort out – records and medical practice were pretty rudimentary. About 45,000 Australians died of it as well … quite a big slice – 60,000 had actually died during WWI.

My grandfather (William Henry Williams) was badly wounded at Gallipoli – and was evacuated to Epsom in England. After he was repaired, he was again badly wounded at Passchendaele – and was only saved because his brother pulled him out of no-man’s land.

He went to Epsom again, and then to the Western Front again. He survived and returned to Sydney in 1918 – when he died at 92, he still had a lot of WWI shrapnel in his body. Great guy.

Gallipoli was very important to both Australia and NZ … as Majella outlined. Most Australians are pretty strongly anti-war … and for good reasons.

AU anti war, except the war on Whites and Eu culture. They surrendered in that battle.

I can think of three politicians to believe in now, Sanders, Gabbard, and Yang
