Let’s suppose there really is such a thing as The Thinking Class in this country, if it’s not too politically incorrect to say so — since it implies that there is another class, perhaps larger, that operates only on some limbic lizard-brain level of impulse and emotion. Personally, I believe there is such a Thinking Class, or at least I have dim memories of something like it.

The farfetched phenomenon of Trumpism has sent that bunch on a journey to a strange land of the intellect, a place like the lost island of Kong, where one monster after another rises out of the swampy murk to threaten the frail human adventurers. No one back home would believe the things they’re tangling with: giant spiders, reptiles the size of front-end loaders, malevolent aborigines! Will any of the delicate humans survive or make it back home?

This is the feeling I get listening to arguments in the public arena these days, but especially from the quarters formerly identified as left-of-center, especially the faction organized around the Democratic Party, which I aligned with long ago (alas, no more). The main question seems to be: who is responsible for all the unrest in this land. Their answer since halfway back in 2016: the Russians.

I’m not comfortable with this hypothesis. Russia has a GDP smaller than Texas. If they are able to project so much influence over what happens in the USA, they must have some supernatural mojo-of-the-mind — and perhaps they do — but it raises the question of motive. What might Russia realistically get from the USA if Vladimir Putin was the master hypnotist that Democrats make him out to be?

Do we suppose Putin wants more living space for Russia’s people? Hmmmm. Russia’s population these days, around 145 million, is less than half the USA’s and it’s rattling around in the geographically largest nation in the world. Do they want our oil? Maybe, but Russia being the world’s top oil producer suggests they’ve already got their hands full with their own operation. Do they want Hollywood? The video game industry? The US porn empire? Do they covet our Chick-fil-A chains and Waffle Houses? Our tattoo artists? Would they like to induce the Kardashians to live in Moscow? Is it Nascar they’re really after?

My hypothesis is that Russia would most of all like to be left alone. Watching NATO move tanks and German troops into Lithuania in January probably makes the Russians nervous, and no doubt that is the very objective of the NATO move — but let’s not forget that most of all NATO is an arm of American foreign policy. If there are any remnants of the American Thinking Class left at the State Department, they might recall that Russia lost 20 million people in the dust-up known as the Second World War against whom…? Oh, Germany.

Altogether last January the US military deployed thousands of soldiers and heavy weaponry to Poland, the Baltic states and southeastern Europe in its biggest build-up since the Cold War(Reuters). As they used to say in old film noir Bogart movies: what’s the big idea? The State Department would say they big idea was cautioning Russia against annexing anymore neighboring states or regions, as they did in Crimea a few years back. Apparently the public is supposed to forget that the State Department sponsored and engineered the conversion of Ukraine into a failed state, prompting Russia to retain its naval bases in Crimea, its only warm-water outlet to the world’s oceans. Ask yourself: if for some reason the state of Virginia were plunged into anarchy by foreign mischief, do you think the US would batten down our naval station in Norfolk?

I think the sad truth of the American predicament these day, including the ascension of a narcissistic ninny to the White House, is that we’re responsible for our own problems due, most of all, to the destruction of boundaries in virtually all realms of American behavior from the things we put in our bodies to the ridiculous ways that we occupy our waking hours at the expense of getting our own house in order. I would like to join the party dedicated to getting our house in order. Anybody else out there feel that way?

Anyone care to discuss Peak Oil and / or USA collapse?

    • zaphod42 March 27, 2017 at 9:38 am #

Of course, we all want to help thing change. I would add a cause/symptom of our malaise: cellphone addiction. Riding to work today, I observed (as usual) that the lemmings filling the car were ALL (as in 100% since I could not observe myself) resolutely ignoring and oblivious to their surroundings and what was going on in the real world.

Strange species, homo sapiens. I wonder whether they will be missed.

Of the 5 people killed and 50 injured, I wonder how many were texting.

Oh, those lemmings – aren’t they just deplorable? (superior eye roll).

As opposed to the good old days, when all those faceless men in their grey flannel suits looked forward to their commutes, which they spent commutes socializing and engaging in witty repartee from behind their newspapers?

There’s not exactly a lot to look at from a train or a bus, especially when you’re riding it for the umpteenth time.

        • Ken Hall March 27, 2017 at 2:10 pm #

Here are a couple of links to one of the “good old days” idiotic ideas the US conceived of and spent serious money attempting to build; affectionately known as “The Flying Crowbar”:

A disclaimer; I did not stumble upon this myself, a good, brilliant but weird, friend of mine roped me into looking it up. The first link is a description and the second an animation of what it might have looked like in flight.

    • routersurfer March 27, 2017 at 4:05 pm #

That is todays topic. Before any real changes can be made we need people working in a real party and not a sitcom.

    • RWicks March 27, 2017 at 6:25 pm #

I am just beside myself, laughing, that what I once considered the astute left turns out to be just as stupid, just as easily programmed, just as hypocritical, as the right was, back in 2003 when George Bush lied us into Iraq over weapons of mass destruction that didn’t exist, because we couldn’t wait for the final proof to come in the form of a mushroom cloud.

The left organized to protest a temporary travel ban on 7 nations, but they sat on their duffs when Obama was bombing 5 of those nations – guess it’s just fine and dandy to murder them! But don’t you dare prevent the people who might (justifiably) seeking revenge have any difficulty moving in.

The left defended Clinton, despite her voting for the Authorization to Use Force in Iraq, and think that Obama, who as far as I can tell is a clone of George W. Bush after a diction class and some sun exposure, kept every single policy of the previous administration. Oh wait, he did legalize gay marriage.. Well, it’s not the Hope and Change™© I was looking for, but I guess it was some change and I think it can be argued for the better, simply because we don’t have to argue about it anymore.

I also don’t think it’s fair to say I’m part of the thinking class. I’m just not stupid. Never realized how many stupid people were in this nation.

I guess the United States population gets the government they deserve, but I don’t.

      • ffkling March 27, 2017 at 7:11 pm #

“I’m just not stupid.” Many thanks for the clarification. I’ll disregard your Tea Bagger rant and focus instead on, “I’m just not stupid”.

People who think in terms of left and right, only, are too stupid to discuss politics, much less read about them.

Hey, better check under your bed tonight, there might be a Rooskie there, or possibly, that’s where Saddam hid his weapons of mass destruction program!

Just remember, one side always lies, and the other side always tells the truth – it couldn’t be CONCEIVABLE that both sides lie and they really aren’t on different sides at all, and the only real difference between the “two” parties, are the lies they tell to get idiots to fanatically, and mindlessly support them.

That’s all you need to know to be a good citizen prole.

          • chipshot March 27, 2017 at 8:50 pm #

“People who think in terms of left and right, only, are too stupid to discuss politics, much less read about them.”

        • lsjogren March 29, 2017 at 11:46 am #

Just because someone is intelligent enough to recognize the idiocy of the left does not make them a right winger.

This “if you’re not one of us then you are one of them” is shallow thinking.

Answer: Republicans move to sell off 3.3 million acres of public land; an area the size of the State of Connecticut is targeted for, “disposal to the highest bidder” in a new Republican-sponsored bill before the Republican-controlled House of Reps.

No, dear lady. To equate the natural world killing Republicans with the Dems who have always championed legislation to preserve our ever-deteriorating environment is patently wrong, although your comment above explains your attitude. “As democracy is perfected, the office of the president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright fool and complete narcissistic moron.”

      H. L. Mencken, Baltimore Evening Sun, 26 July 1920, according to a 2016 political cartoon by Horsey.

      • Janos Skorenzy March 27, 2017 at 2:07 pm #

Mencken was 100% behind the White Race nation of the United States. He would be for Trump – no matter what as its last chance. In other words, he was a Fascist.

        • RWicks March 27, 2017 at 6:33 pm #

I like how Trump’s bigotry, misogyny, history of sexual abuse, rape, only became known once he ran for president, against a woman who got debate questions in advance, invited 50 top people in the media for private discussions, who in her emails discusses the problem of explaining a major sale of uranium to Russia, who voted for the Authorization to Use Force in Iraq, and was instrumental in turning Libya from having the highest per capita income in all of Africa, to being a failed state.

Clearly you have your priorities in order – and certainly nobody would like about Trump or anything in an election. For certain, it’s much better to have a war criminal in the office than a white supremacist which only became one in 2016, when he ran for office.

You’re one of the smart ones, seriously!

          • Janos Skorenzy March 27, 2017 at 7:57 pm #

Trump has no such history. Bill Clinton does. Get back on your meds, Libralium.

          • RWicks March 27, 2017 at 8:40 pm #

Janos, I’m being sarcastic. Unfortunately, that doesn’t always carry along well in writing.

What Hillary Clinton is, is a mass murdering Neocon. I would prefer anything over that. People think the United States just elected Hitler to power – the reality is that the United States just kicked Hitler out of power, after he’s been in power for at least 16 years.

Although… I can see Neocon roaches in the Trump administration here and there, but it least it’s not a full blown infestation which is what we’d have with Clinton.

          • Janos Skorenzy March 28, 2017 at 12:02 am #

Liberals have destroyed irony. They really are as crazy as what you portray. Thus it’s very difficult to mock them.

      • outsider March 27, 2017 at 2:47 pm #

Mr. Trump may turn out to be a “downright fool.” And he may be “narcissistic” but he’s no “moron.” Hillary, on the other hand is evil incarnate. At this point, I think that Trump is not evil and is trying to do good. That will change if he starts another war.

        • RWicks March 27, 2017 at 7:14 pm #

Oh, silly person – Presidents don’t start wars, banks do.

The US is absolutely, entirely, bankrupt. 20 trillion dollars in debt, every year 1/2 trillion dollar deficit in trade. The people that have loaned that US government that money (which is now mostly the Fed, because it buys it’s own debt with money it printed) will never be paid back.

So what to do… what to do…. Can’t let the criminals who created this mess be held accountable… If only a war can be started of some sort, they can blame it on somebody else.

Well, Russia has been supposedly hacking the United States, and they are big bad commies, wait, um, they’re baaaaad!!! Since the banking system is entirely electronic now, and those Rooskies are such smart hackers, I guess they caused the complete evaporation of all accounts when it happens.

          That’s my prediction.

This way, the bankers who have screwed us all get to keep their heads on their shoulders, instead of having them put on pikes.

    • Linda March 27, 2017 at 11:22 pm #

Yes, Davidreese2, that is the unfortunate truth. I would love such a Party as well.

  4. Elrond Hubbard March 27, 2017 at 9:38 am #

JHK: “Let’s not forget that most of all NATO is an arm of American foreign policy.”

For how much longer? While Germany for example isn’t going to quit the alliance just because Trump refused to shake hands with Angela Merkel, they’ve got to be making their own calculations as to where their interests lie and how dependable their once staunch ally is today, or will be in future.

The Archdruid observed more or less that America’s big mistake after the Soviet Union fell was in not tossing the U.K. aside and making Russia its new junior partner — a combination that could have ruled the world for centuries. Too late now, I suppose.

    • K-Dog March 27, 2017 at 10:20 am #

That was never an option. The U.K. has their hooks in far too deep and many Brits are members of the American Privileged class. They infect the American body like an incurable cancer and can’t be removed.

Sometimes the Archdruid does not know everything.

      • Janos Skorenzy March 27, 2017 at 2:09 pm #

The Military Industrial Complex NEEDED the USSR, and still needs Russia, as its arch enemy. After its devastation in WWII, Stalin certainly didn’t want a Cold War – as JHK wrote, it just wanted to be “left alone.” How else can the MIC make its billions in devious profits? No other country, besides possibly China, could have filled that void.

      • aNanyMouse March 29, 2017 at 7:54 pm #

        Good stuff, Elrond & outsider.
K-Dog, I’ll grant that the Brits could’ve stopped an outright dumping of them, but I’ll bet that most of them could’ve tolerated the lack of a Cold War, so I’ll bet that the key factor was the MIC.

Liberals to announce marijuana will be legal by July 1, 2018

Provinces will have right to decide how marijuana is distributed and sold, CBC News has learned

“The Liberal government will announce legislation next month that will legalize marijuana in Canada by July 1, 2018.

“CBC News has learned that the legislation will be announced during the week of April 10 and will broadly follow the recommendation of a federally appointed task force that was chaired by former liberal Justice Minister Anne McLellan.

“Bill Blair, the former Toronto police chief who has been stickhandling the marijuana file for the government, briefed the Liberal caucus on the roll-out plan and the legislation during caucus meetings this weekend.

“The federal government will be in charge of making sure the country’s marijuana supply is safe and secure and Ottawa will license producers.

“But the provinces will have the right to decide how the marijuana is distributed and sold. Provincial governments will also have the right to set price.

“While Ottawa will set a minimum age of 18 to buy marijuana, the provinces will have the option of setting a higher age limit if they wish.

“As for Canadians who want to grow their own marijuana, they will be limited to four plants per household.”

Come on up, the water’s fine!

“Pay attention to the long game…” (sounds like you’ve been listening to Jimmy Dore, which makes you more enlightened than those who haven’t).

‘Cept playing the long game doesn’t pay off if you’re in the 4th Q–maybe even at the 2 minute warning– as we may be regarding climate chaos, trickle down economics (and the resulting concentration of wealth and power), oil, and the world financial situation.

Trump has deliberately let the vote in Congress to repeal Obamacare to fail in order to discredit the far-right and the speaker of the Republican majority Paul Ryan, whom the Witch instructed to pack the bill with all those provisions that Trump said he would not sign.

And now he has a green light not only to clean up the Republican Party from the cryptoclintonoids, but also to seek an agreement on improving Obamacare, and not to repeal it with those Democrats who hate the Witch just like he does.

No that is too complicated for a smart person and Trump is not that clever. Fact is he isn’t clever at all. Looking for wheels within wheels in what Trump does is a waste of time.

    • Elrond Hubbard March 27, 2017 at 10:19 am #

finc: “Trump has deliberately let the vote in Congress to repeal Obamacare to fail in order to discredit the far-right and the speaker of the Republican majority Paul Ryan.”

You give Trump too much credit; he’s not that kind of three-dimensional chess player. His idiot-savant talent is for getting people to pay attention to him, not for political machinations.

He’s all about his personal brand, which is that he’s a winner. Trump would never sacrifice that as some kind of move in a longer game. As long as he was head of his own organization and a TV star, he was able to protect his ego. Now he’s discovering that Washington, DC is much bigger than he is.

So likely he’ll now be plotting a distraction big enough to enable him to recover the face he’s lost. The most obvious candidate is the stand-by solution of egomaniacal leaders everywhere who need to divert attention from their domestic failures: War.

    • shotho March 27, 2017 at 10:23 am #

Any attempt to “improve” Obamacare would only increase the costs, which might be a good thing in that it would hasten the demise of the world’s financial system.

      • elysianfield March 27, 2017 at 11:19 am #

You do understand that with the demise of the world’s financial system there will be unintended and unforeseeable consequences? Millions will die, perhaps you and me both. Life will be hard for the vast majority of survivors.

We both understand, or believe, that the system is unsustainable, but I myself would never wish for the chaos…it will not be a good thing.

        • Janos Skorenzy March 27, 2017 at 2:16 pm #

That’s why Trump tried to intervene even though politically it would have been better to wait.

“Trump has deliberately let the vote in Congress to repeal Obamacare to fail in order to discredit the far-right and the speaker of the Republican majority Paul Ryan”

That’s the funniest thing I’ve seen on here in while. I just spewed tea all over my computer.

Trump, and his brain Steve Bannon, can’t think that many moves ahead. You give them way too much credit. They thought Congress worked be like the yes men Trump hires. They got an education on how the government really works last week. They learned that Trump isn’t the only big ego in Washington DC.

They have certainly contributed to the devaluation of accountability,

Doesn’t help that msm has become little better than a state sponsored propaganda machine, with just 5 corporations controlling the media.

      To the Editor,

I have finally figured out how Donald J. Trump got elected president. It was the aliens.
You see, the aliens breathe carbon dioxide and eat plastic. They drink polluted water and take their baths in nuclear waste. They feed their babies the kind of stuff we dumped into Love Canal. And the hotter this place gets, the better they like it. So Planet Earth was looking more like Paradise to them every day.
Also they had developed a taste for human thought. Yes, it carries that far. But they found that book-learning imparted a sour taste. The less we know, the sweeter we are. So they worked up plans for Fox News and the Rush Limbaugh Show. They invented televangelists, the Golf Channel and Celebrity Apprentice.
And if they could make us believe the lies they have been planting since Ronald Reagan became president – another alien operation – it would be icing on the cake. For instance, in 1980 they beamed their flunkies down to tell us that the rich needed a tax cut and the rest of us had to pay for it. And not only that. It would do us good by keeping our noses to the grindstone so we couldn’t get into any mischief. Once they put that one over they really got cocky. We never caught on, and the flunkies got a permanent gig in the right-wing chamber of horrors.
But aren’t the aliens so advanced that they could carry out all of these operations on their own planet? Why would they fire up the warp drive and travel a hundred million light years just to steal our stuff? Well, it turns out that they are a lot like our modern Republican voters. If they can get something for free, or steal it, they sure aren’t going to bust their butts making it themselves.
But they had to make sure the trip would be worthwhile. They didn’t like what they were seeing with a Democrat in charge. They knew that if Donald J. Trump was president he would turn this place into the Mar-a-Lago of their dreams faster than you can say flux capacitor. So they fiddled with the controls and swung the election to Trump.
That is the only explanation that makes any sense. Actually, all they had to do was make Hillary R. Clinton the Democratic candidate. Maybe that was all they did.

The GOP won the day HRC grabbed the crown. Any GOP running would have won. The real question is will the GOP survive President Trump? I think the DNC/RNC monster is dead. Just going to take a few more cycles.

The public discussion in America is centered about words that end with “ism”, “ist” and phobia so there is that.

Does the thinking class really believe in that crap? I think not but the cynicism is so corrosive that it has broken down the thinking class to a level that outright looters have taken over.

Think of Soviet leaders lining their pockets in the last decade of that experiment in denying reality.

Anybody else out there feel that way?”

Some of the thinking class feels that way. The same ones in that class who did yesterday and the same ones who will think that way tomorrow.

Unfortunately the limbic lizard-brain impulse and emotion class majority does not feel that way at all and so they will continue their aimless wanderings for the near future. There is no pressure to make them think differently so they won’t. Without pressure to make them think differently nothing will change and so America must fall. The thinking class who ‘feels that way’ is a small inconsequential minority.

For America to be great it needs great people but the American people get more mediocre with each passing day. They imagine themselves as being great but they know not what that means and pride goes before a fall. America then will and must fall and it will fall hard.

The limbic class will not be admitting their president is an idiot anytime soon. Pride requires they honor their votes and at their peril they will. They will not change until the wild beast of consequences leaps upon them from ambush and then it will be too late for any change because then they will be dead.

    • malthuss March 27, 2017 at 10:10 am #

The Superior class don’t have enough children by far. An old problem: Augustus Caesar excoriated the Roman upper class for their sterility. Same thing here – and for a long time. Even back in the beginning of the 20th Century, many of the graduates of the Seven Sisters never married, or if they did, only had one or at most two children. Exceptions were rare. Overall, they did not replace themselves. The new Elite who replaced them were from money, and never would attain their level of class (in the good sense) or learning.

      Time will tell.

And since we are a feminized society then if figures that the debates would devolve to the petty.

And since the Left has capitulated completely to the feminine America is basically helpless against any smooth talking charming gigalo.

    • Paulo March 27, 2017 at 10:32 am #

It isn’t just a feminized country, it is one addicted to debt and is populated by “I want everything now, because I am Kong…..King consumer.”

I was watching a US news show the other day and a commercial came on about debt. Sure there is Credit Karma…accessible by your dumb phone. But Now? Apparently there is an app that will give you an updated credit score every 24 hours!!!

I asked my wife if she ever had a credit search done on her and she replied, “Maybe when I bought my first house”. My answer was the same. I don’t think I have ever even wondered about my credit because neither of us will take on debt.

Oh well, cell phones don’t work here, either. Can’t have everything I suppose. I would say America lost its way, but that wouldn’t be fair. Western pampered consumers lost their way when they traded in their values and goals for stuff. Trump and other manifestations of greed and ignorance is the obvious result.

      • islander800 March 27, 2017 at 12:37 pm #

It makes me think that it would be a good idea to re-instate mandatory history courses in high school – that would be, PUBLIC high schools. One book that would shock students and future adult “consumers” back to reality is the recent “Leningrad”, a wrenching day to day description of how the German fascists cold-bloodedly and deliberately starved to death over one million residents of the modern European-Soviet city (now re-named back to St. Petersburg) in a four hundred day siege from fall 1941 to 1944. Consumer goods were the last things on the minds of citizens resorting to eating the glue from wallpaper – and worse – to try and survive. At its heart, it is a story of the resilience of the human spirit in the face of apocalypse. The glut of consumer goods today and shallowness of “social media” is an obscenity to the memories of civilians like those of WWII Leningrad.

As another benefit, reading books like this may instill some empathy for the Russian obsession with security. More than once in their history, something wicked came their way from the west. Some estimates of civilian and military Soviet WWII loses go as high as 26 million, not 20 million as Jim quotes. (If not for the Soviet sacrifice which bled the Germans dry, the great U.S. of A. wouldn’t have had a hope in hell of making a successful D-Day landing and delivering the final blows along with its allies, including the Soviets.)

America seems to have no sense of empathy whatsoever when it presses militarily right up to Russia’s borders, against the solemn, but unfortunately, verbal commitment of Bush I when he got Gorbachev’s O.K. to German re-unification. (That act of betrayal must have taught the Russians NEVER to take the Americans at their word.) You would think after the Cuban Missile Crisis, America would get the point, but no.

We will live the equivalent of Leningrad. Maybe within our lifetime – hell, it might be within the next decade. “Children of Men” with Clive Owen and Michael Caine is an epic portrait of the face of modern fascism.

Welcome, paratime traveler! If you hate women, you’re going to love it here! This side of the dimensional portal, we have a highly masculinized society that just elected a boorish, word-salad emitting mango Mussolini as our White Alpha Male Messiah–about as far away from a smooth-talking dandy as we could find without electing Zombie Genghis Khan. Oh, and we also gave him a Congress that’s dedicated to eliminating every government function that does not directly involve the use of firearms. Darwinism isn’t science here–Real Americans think Jesus rode dinosaurs with Adam and Eve 6,000 years ago–it’s social policy!

Here, we spend the lion’s share of our discretionary budget on macho, manly military hardware–more than the entire rest of the planet combined, even though most of the other big-spenders are our allies. We’re constantly launching rocket-powered exploding penises at over a half-dozen other countries for fun and profit.

People here feel the need to drive huge, ugly trucks and “sport-utility vehicles” (not sure what sort of “sport” or “utility” they’re supposed to offer–we use them the same way we used to use ordinary cars). And you should see the clothes people wear here, especially the menfolk!

Speaking of ugly, our entire built environment (at least, anything that doesn’t have a Historical Preservation Society protecting it) is pure, stark Brutalism, not a hint of feminine semiotics to be found. From the buildings to the streetlights to the storefronts to the products they sell, it’s ugly, ugly, ugly all the way down, except for an occasional bit of iPod Futuristic. When our architects do try to go “all-out” on some project, they just take the same Brutalism, snort some powdered Cthulhu tentacle, and create a revolt against mathematics and common sense. See the “Eyesore of the Month” section on this site for examples.

Say, is there any chance this Feminized America you come from just elected Jill Stein and has an abundance of Art Nouveau architecture and the like? Lots of solar panels, education and health care on a par with Sweden or Denmark, and a first-rate train system? If so, directions please…

And when he talks about “making America great again” he is not talking about you and me, the single mom raising 3 children, minorities, the elderly, sick or frail, or the 2nd generation immigrant. He is talking about recreating a white, Christian, male, and Caucasian America. An “only the strong survive” culture fit only for the wealthy and influential.

For example, there was a photograph last week of a meeting of members of Congress and members of the Executive Branch to discuss healthcare. Among the topics were women’s healthcare issues like abortion, mammograms, and birth control. The photograph could easily have been from the late 1800s. There was not a woman, a minority, an immigrant or an elderly person in the room. Not even standing by the door.

Our new masters are white Christian men between the ages of 32 and 60. They are intent on creating America in their image and according to their values. And write this down! They will use every ounce of the federal government to enforce it on us. You want to have a “sanctuary city”? If you do you will not get one dime of federal money. You want to protest our policies? We will invent stories to discredit you … or invent stories to make us seem morally superior. Any evidence to the contrary is “fake news.”

  13. shotho March 27, 2017 at 10:15 am #

Not only have we destroyed the boundaries of our social groups and institutions, we’ve destroyed the sanctions that once protected those boundaries. There are simply few consequences left today for violating any values and norms that once were considered fundamental to how we live. So, as we approach free fall, I doubt a new political party is the answer. Best find a foundation that’s more secure than that.

    • Janos Skorenzy March 27, 2017 at 2:48 pm #

Jim says, “I would like to join the party dedicated to getting our house in order.”

Here’s a thought with all due respect to Jim. Why not just take over the Democratic Party? It’s a perfectly empty shell ready to be repurposed for meaningful work. Yes, first we would need to throw out the vagrants. The reason the DNC in DC has such power is because the party in the hinterlands is practically non-existent.
In my rural county, I estimate that about 20 people, becoming precinct committee people, could easily take over the county party. And the county party sends people to the State Conventions which in turn elect leaders of the State Party, who in turn elect the National leaders. And if this sounds like work, it is but it’s less work than starting a whole new party from the ground up. For example, the Democratic party is on all the ballots everywhere. The reason the Dem Party is lost is because they stand for nothing.

    Try this :
    1. Universal childcare
    2. Universal healthcare
    3. Universal life long learning
    4. Government, as last resort, created jobs
    Universal means “free for all”.
And, yes we can afford anything we choose to afford.

Almost all mothers work outside the home.

        • Lawfish March 27, 2017 at 1:24 pm #

The mother of my children stayed home while they were too young to attend school. Only then did she return to work “outside the home.” It was a sacrifice we deliberately made for the good of our children. Let someone who has no interest in the long-term well-being of your children raise them and you’ll get … pretty much what we have all over this country.

          • troutbum2 March 27, 2017 at 3:39 pm #

The reason women work outside the home is because real wages ( inflation adjusted) have been stagnating since the 1970s.

My wife and I had the same arrangement. It was a challenge, but well worth it. And you’re right: (“Let someone who has no interest in the long-term well-being of your children raise them and you’ll get … pretty much what we have all over this country”). And that’s part of the problem. Of course we have unemployment now! Once women were enticed into the workforce, wages could be lowered. Supply and Demand. But even that wasn’t enough for the pigs – they then brought in millions of third worlders we didn’t need.

        • routersurfer March 27, 2017 at 4:30 pm #

Because of the falling buying power of our “jobs”…….. that is why many mothers work. Real pay for Real families. Most of the above wish list fits Bennie or Ralph……. see what the DNC and League of Women Voters did to them over the last few decades???? Screw the DNC. It sold out in 1972.

Many women would give their eye teeth for what their grandmothers took for granted. Indeed, we all did and that’s how we lost it.

The old stories are true: merchants are knaves and should always be watched closely. Any power they have they will abused because they only care about profit. Libertarianism is a philosophy that idealizes these sharks and imagines that following their ideas will lead to paradise. It’s just a naïve as Communism that idealizes Party hacks and thugs.

        Well Noel,

It seems you don’t like the First Amendment that guarantees freedom of speech. Prosecute Fox? For what? I’m a liberal but like listening to the other side because, frankly, we, Americans, have more in common than differences.

And as for burning Atlas Shrugged, I loved that book. I loved Dagny Taggart and John Galt. I never believed in Rand’s objectivism philosophy, but it was still a good book, And burning books is the mark of a dictator. It is always good to read and evaluate the other point of view, in my opinion.

    • Whoopdy-Do March 27, 2017 at 3:55 pm #

Universal does not mean “free for all.”

Its means “paid for by all.”

In theory that’s fine, but the theory never works.

What do you do about the people getting “free” healthcare, childcare, and lifelong learning, but not paying into the system because they’ve cooked up some excuse for why they can’t (ie, won’t) work?

And then what do you do about the workers who see the scammers getting by, and decide they shouldn’t have to work either?

The answer is the one that all socialist systems eventually fall back on: force.

      • Zarko Straadi March 27, 2017 at 4:23 pm #

Yes, that’s why Sweden, Norway, and all our NATO allies are such horrifying Stalinist police states. Thank goodness we here in America don’t have cops that dress like soldiers and drive around in armored vehicles, and a government that spies on all our communications! Because here we would rather give somebody a free jail cell for life than a free education, even if the latter is cheaper by orders of magnitude. We’ll have a happy, prosperous society once the poor all die off. The Free Market (profits be upon His Invisible Hand) will give us a just society automatically, if we will only have faith, and give the rich more tax cuts.

Let’s revisit your small, up-to-now racially homogenous Scandinavian socialist paradise a generation from now and see how well they’re doing with their influx of Muslims who refuse to assimilate, won’t speak the native language, and wish to inflict their regressive culture wherever they go. (Sounds like a large slice of our own population, eh?) Wanna bet they won’t be a police state like us?

Meanwhile, ask yourself how many of the criminals sitting in your “free” jail cells would have taken your “free” education if offered. What proportion of them even finished “free” high school? Do you think they’ll jump at the chance to take “free” college-level STEM courses?

Welfare has been tried. It doesn’t work. Then, when you take it away, the parasites get pissed because it’s their “due”. They rise up, and here we are. Police state.

Next: call me a racist, misogynist white whatever, proclaim victory, and you’re done.

You’re simply jealous of ANYONE who’s ever gotten a leg up on you for any reason whatsoever aren’t you? No reason to call you anything else. You’re just plain BITTER!

          • Whoopdy-Do March 29, 2017 at 8:38 am #

LOL, it’s like a leftist tag-team match! Change the subject! Call names! Victory!

You’re right, DA, I’m totally jealous of Muslim refugees and uneducated, jailed American criminals. They have it so much better than me! *Sob!*

Thank you for your contribution to the discussion.

          • Zarko Straadi March 29, 2017 at 10:18 pm #

Speaking of needing to change scripts, you guys have been spouting the same drivel since Benjamin Franklin was wringing his hands about all those damn swarthy Germans coming here and not assimilating. When will you get tired of being wrong?

Also, welfare does work, it’s worked since Otto von Bismarck invented it. The other option, letting the rich grab all the marbles, never ends well.

  16. DA March 27, 2017 at 10:30 am #

The idea of Russia as existential boogeyman is little more than warmed over cold warrior hysteria Part Deux. Having run out of manufactured villains in the form or ISIS, Al Qaeda, or fill in your favorite Islamic terrorist group here (and lets face it, America never really warmed to the idea of a bunch of medieval third world hooligans being a major threat to our “all-powerful, all-encompassing,” finest military money can buy anyway), the lazy-assed Dems decided they’d just drag that dusty old canard/flag out again (it’s since been proven conclusively that it was total bullshit the first time as well) and see if anyone would still salute it. And lo and behold, with the help of few hundred million dollar advertising campaign (a bargain in 2017 terms!) spread out over several years and all the covert legal and extra-legal intelligence shenanigans you’d expect from the highest example of a modern inverted-totalitarian regime the world’s ever seen, it’s mostly worked – AGAIN!

Will the US and its western European cronies get the war they want with Mother Russia – televised live, with bomb by bomb analysis by the latest round of retired revolving door Generals for hire – or will they find out the hard way as the Nazi’s and pretty much everyone before them did that when it comes to war, the Russians are just some of the most flat-out stubborn and belligerent motherfu**ers that have ever existed , and all that stealthy high-tech “smart” shit don’t count for squat. And last I heard, the US military’s win/loss record of late (in any other terms than squandering the Fed’s created from out of thin air dollars at least) is nothing to write home about either. The US would do well to do what it does best. Run the whole thing as a computer simulation, set fire to a few hundred billion dollars up front (at the next Burning Man possibly?), and call it a draw to save face all around. I’m sure Putin, being the bigger man than anyone on this side of the pond, would probably concede that much at least.

    • Janos Skorenzy March 27, 2017 at 2:59 pm #

Yes, history will repeat: the Russians would retreat and then attack our supply lines. And then General Winter would enter the picture.

Btw, they’ve gamed the War between the American Air people against the Dirt People: the Dirts win. Your sons shall work in our fields and your daughters shall bear our children.

      • DA March 28, 2017 at 12:20 pm #

Air power alone – absent nuclear strikes at least – has proven again and again to be little more than a means to harden the enemy’s resistance and create even more future enemies. Which is why its the Pentagon’s favored way of wasting money (actually funneling it to their future employers in the private sector), while simultaneously perpetuating the GWOT so that future generations of genocidal maniacs can partake in the bounty as well. The USA as we once imagined it didn’t actually collapse, it was simply auctioned off to the most well-connected bidders.

While I won’t hazard a guess about the degree to which paid Russian hackers and trolls are at work demoralizing and disrupting, it’s in Russian interests to see us weaker.

That way Mother Russia can protect what she sees as her sphere of interest, including parts of Eastern Europe.

Admitting this is not to go down a rabbit-hole of paranoia. Nations have done it for centuries, with different tools. For a long time, it has been in our interest to see Russia not regain superpower status.

Payback bites. To some degree we are being bitten. So what? Only a child would moan “not fair!” when a rival uses any means available to gain an advantage. There are people in the “thinking class,” sadly, many of them outside academia, who recognize this. The staffers at The Atlantic have long written about these very realities.

You don’t need to make the accusations of Russian involvement in our elections sound so ridiculous in terms of motives, since the Russian motives should be obvious, right?

I mean, on the one side you had HRC who was pushing for armed conflict with Russian-backed Assad in Syria through proxies and a strong anti-Russian NATO stance leading to sanctions because of Crimea. On the other side you have a pro-Russian billionaire who owes untold amounts of money to the Russian mob and will do what it takes to keep them happy and keep those debt streams coming to him because he has no other sources of capital except for his “brand.”

Just the “Russians want to be left alone” motive is sufficient to merit at least Putin trying to swing the election from HRC to Trump, and there is much, much more here to entice them to try. Also, given what seems to have happened, it didn’t take such a huge feat of mind-strength for Putin to pull this off. Everybody was already looking for a reason to give HRC the middle finger and all he needed to do is swing the last 1-2% to pull Trump over the line.

Avoid GDP comparisons with Russia. They are meaningless because they fail to take into account local purchasing power parity.
Russia can do many more things simultaneously than, say Germany, for example. Their military can mobilize 76,000 fully-equipped troops in 36 hours, something that takes NATO and the USA months. Military procurement in Russia avoids trilion-dollar débâcles like the F-35 JSF. Their defense procurement system is 10 times more efficient because design bureau requests come from field commanders and not lobbyists, like in the US.
Hundreds of billions of annual trade between Russia and China are completely off the West’s radar, since the trade is entirely in rubles and yuan.
Sanctions against against Russia have the unintended consequence of Russia’s economic autarky, which has seen double-digit growth in the agriculture sector.
Underestimation of Russia is not only wrong, but leads neocons to come up with hare-brained schemes of confrontation with RUssia.

The White House was never and will never be my house. You can put every variation of sexual, ethnic, religious and political persuasion in that house and it has not and will not change a thing for me. Same for the house of representatives. By the way, I am a natural born citizen of the USA. That little fact has been a major point of contention in the public discourse. Does being a citizen of the USA matter anymore when everything has gone global? Is Russia a threat to USA global hegemony? Kunstler says no. Other thinkers say yes. So what?
Until something physical goes down (not just a bunch of posturing) what does anyone have to worry about? You talk and warn of impending collapse and WWIII and the invasion of the body snatchers until you’re blue in the face. Think people are distracted by what they are facing right now and not what is being postulated by the thinking classes. Thinking people are driving Teslas because they are there to drive. Thinking people are drinking bottled water because it is there to drink. Thinking people are eating fast food because it is everywhere they turn in their motor vehicles during a 30 minute lunch break. Thinking people buy plastic everything because it is there, it works and it’s affordable. Thinking people do not have time to think of the broader implications of what they are doing because they have to live their lives in the present. Thinking people are not the CEOs, CFOs and CIOs of the corporations responsible for the destruction of natural resources and the hypertrophied dehumanization of cities. Thinking people have relationships with other thinking people in the broader world because they can and are not worried about Big Brothers interference or disapproval. Thinking people voted Trump for president and he will be president for 4 years until thinking people vote again. Computers are not in charge of everything they are being used for, thinking people are in charge.

I love the analogy of Skull Island James well done! Yes there has always been a Thinking Class in every society, they are the ones who come up with the ideas, who do the work, who build the civilizations so that the ruling Bimbos can sit upon the seats of power and fornicate at their leisure. Eventually the ruling bimbos are either thrown out of their palaces by the disgruntled Thinking Class, or the Bimbos strike first and eliminate their intelligent competition.

Why are the Russians being targeted by OUR ruling Bimbos as the enemy today? Because our Bimbos need a never ending supply of Bad Guys that can be physically assaulted with the guns, the bombs, the tanks that those who pull the Bimbo’s strings manufacture for profit. Yes, Russia would love to be left alone to make deals and even coerce it’s neighbors into profitable arrangements. It is what Russia HAS to do because Russia has never and cannot succeed with colonialism (you know, that tactic we learned from our parent the English).

As far as the narcissistic ninny have as Bimbo in Chief today, he is only one small step from the narcissistic, demonic ninny we had for the last eight years. Just a different flavor that’s all. It is all we will ever get and it seems to be the way it should continue to go because after all is it not clear that WE, yes WE, America IS the biggest problem that the World faces today? If you need proof, look at how much we spend making weapons of death and destruction and how much we spend killing stone age primitives all over the world to WHAT end? If Americans care to argue or deny this I would ask them to look at how much we spend doping ourselves into oblivion to avoid the grim facts. The numbers tell the story.

Churchill acted all puffed up anyway and then was amazed when the New Elite started pouring Blacks into England. When he tried to stop it, he was shouldered aside. Who did he think he was fight for? Did he ever know who his Masters were?

Any hope of rapprochement between the US and Russia was sealed after Clinton turned the Wall St privatization hordes loose in the aftermath of their collapse and then added insult to injury by propping up the drunkenly corrupt Yeltsin again in 1996. Putin’s subsequent takeover is directly linked to the fact that the non-oligarch Russian people easily and rightly connected the dots between what was little more than a naked global capitalist coup and plundering, and their greatly reduced standing in the world. Putin, like countless third world leaders before him who US corporate crony capitalist interests had murdered to ensure their continued ability to loot and plunder as they see fit, should be celebrated for having the big brass balls to stand up these brazen criminals. Would that we had such a leader(s) ourselves, but of course that ship has long since sailed here the land of the free to be exploited, and the home of the debt slaves.

All of the public debate about the “threat” posed by Russia and the reason why NATO must “stand up to the threat”, is a complete crock of shit intended to manufacture consent, and is based on the same principals enunciated so well by Goering at Nuremberg.

The real agenda of the U.S. deep state or secret govt..is the same as it’s always been in the West for the last 2 centuries or more. That agenda is dedicated to undermining and, if possible, breaking up any strong central govt. in the Eurasian landmass. That is because the real epicenter of world economic power is centered in Eurasia with its vast resource rich landmass and good internal lines of communication. If we could only OWN Russia and reduce its sparse population to helot status, we’d all be “drinking free Bubble Up and eating that Rainbow Stew”.
Every Western nation state from Britain, through Napoleon and Hitler has covetously eyed that piece of prime real estate and that’s what we’re up to. I know this sounds simple, but it’s the truth. All these things always boil down to money and power. If we were the dominant force in Russia’s land mass (as we fleetingly glimpsed during the Yeltsin years), we would have “our freedoms” guarantied in perpetuity.

You make a great point about the size and scope of the Eurasian landmass. America may have had it’s golden day of bountiful resources and open spaces two hundred years ago but time has changed that greatly. It does not really make any sense that this relatively tiny “island” that is America should dominate the entire planet, does it. Yes having the biggest, baddest kick ass military does give us the ability to attempt such dominance, but there is a problem with rule by force. Ay first, the threat of violence will keep the enemies at bay, but it does not take long before that force HAS to be used to maintain control. We have bee utilizing our force openly since the Korean War, with questionable success, and a requirement for the application of more and greater force every year it would seem. Eventually the levels of violence will have to be ramped up and up leading to what? Yup, NOT good things. We are well down that road of failure. Expect that violence to increase exponentially. Keep your eye on Estonia.

Blaming Russia for Trump’s win is a nonsensical deflection, an absurdity. Pure baloney.

Trump’s win was years in the making and one that reflected the rational self-interest of people that voted for him. Trump won because he was the only one that said to a corporate honcho, move that factory to Mexico and I’ll hammer you with tariffs. He signaled to American workers that he was looking out for them.

And if I was a leftist, I would go to the mosque and give thanks for Trump.

The mosque visit accomplishes two things. It shows my elevated sensibilities by aligning myself, against all sense and reason, with a civilizational adversary. No, really, that’s what intellectuals and especially leftists do, they live in a make-believe world of abstractions, they twist logic until it screams. So it solidifies my leftist bona fides.

But secondly it shows my fellow travelers that the Trump ascendancy was a God-send.

Leftists might chuckle and titter thinking I was being ironic. The joke is on leftists, such a visit would be in mockery of them.

Gestures of contempt are only that, insignificant in the broad sweep. The Trump win is the big thing, the win ought to be an air-raid siren, an ear-splitting warning that shit-storms beckon.

It’s been said many times, leftists made their peace with “globalization”, the rhetorical device and intellectual smokescreen for offshoring. It was an outrage that leftists were fully in on. They threw not only working class white people overboard but also people (and especially men) of other races. At best, abandoning the American worker was an enormous dereliction. At worst it was a betrayal of historic proportions.

The leftist is now doing what the group-think fashion of the moment demands, they blame the Russians and they also blame the racism of working-class whites. But if the leftist was being honest, a big “if”, they’d realize that Trump couldn’t have prevailed with only the votes of working class whites. People of other races also voted for him.

Trump is incompetent and disorganized. And if the Trump win is the consequence of decades of economic exploitation and malfeasance and intellectual dishonesty, then thank the creator-god, the laws of chance, or whatever laughing deity that rules in these environs. Or go to the Mosque and bow down because the logical conclusion is that God really is on America’s side.

By arranging things as only an omnipotent Creator can, He gave America a second chance or, at the very least, some time. Ok, seriously, never mind all this creator sky-god stuff. But give thanks because America dodged a cannon-shell. This buys time. Not much time but still, best to make use of it. As JHK sez, time to get America’s house in order.

A Solution to Crime and Racism in America

    Sound pretentious? Perhaps.

Everything in America, it seems, has been monetized…you can buy sex, security, attention, you can also buy and sell human organs, if careful. Why not your birthright?

It has always been possible to renounce your citizenship…go to any Embassy, and the paperwork awaits. Thousands have done so for reasons base and noble. Why not for cash and a new start on life…one more chance?

Millions of people at the age of majority and older feel betrayed by the USA…why not give them an option to enjoy citizenship in another country, with a modest sum to do so…say $50,000 per adult?

The prisons are filled with felons that would jump at the chance for a new life, with the funds to settle and perhaps prosper In a new land.

Millions of the poor and dispossessed can see a ray of hope in what might be a hopeless situation, without education, skills, or other means of prospering

Where would they go? I would expect that there are a large number of countries that would accept, and provide citizenship, for those with $50,000 in cash that would benefit their economy. Social media would provide instant information on host countries, so that the expat could make a proper choice.

How long would it take to amortize the $50K, considering prison costs, welfare, medical care, educational savings, not to mention quality of life issues which are difficult to quantify? Probably 18 months…tops.

The renouncing of one’s citizenship is Constitutionally valid, even provided for. Those doing so would be given transportation to the country of choice, and would be forever barred from re-patriation. It is sane, humane, and doable.

    I would invite criticism….

    • Ken Hall March 27, 2017 at 1:21 pm #

Ah but what about the loss of salaries for the 3 corrections workers per inmate and the outsize profits for the obscenely wealthy invested in the prisons proper. The GDP does not increase by saving money, only by the expenditure of; e.g., losses from hurricane damage are not deducted from GDP but expenditures for repairs are added to it. New versions of the current crop of Jim Crow work around laws would be swiftly enacted to sustain full prison occupancy, similar to the current tRump efforts to do so by incarcerating folks awaiting deportation.

      • Janos Skorenzy March 27, 2017 at 3:22 pm #

Yeah by that logic, put everyone in prison except for the guards. Or have they already done so?

      • elysianfield March 27, 2017 at 7:22 pm #

The corrections workers would retain their jobs. There are those criminals that would not give up citizenship. There would be crimes such as murder and terrorist-oriented offences that would not be given the opportunity. The jails would be used for incarcerating expats who are caught having slipped illegally the US…no probation, no parole…stiff sentencing.

First world countries would not, as a rule, accept our criminals…but what about various failed states, African dictatorships, South American countries that are impoverished? It would be a source of income. Many countries are impoverished but have little crime…they are less “enlightened” than we regarding penology.

Not only criminals would take advantage…”Think you’ve been given a raw deal in the US? Try somewhere else. I expect that millions would want a second chance at a new life.

GDP doesn’t enter the equation…the metric, however, is one that would provide a better social order, and pay for itself in savings, over time.

    • michael March 27, 2017 at 1:38 pm #

You stripped your own agency out of the so called “solution” by basing it on other peoples unidentified assumptions?

Though elysianfield titles his commentary : “A Solution to Crime and Racism in America”, there is no mention of race in the paragraph itself?

Thats another assumption elysianfield wants the reader to make because he is too much of a pussy to make it himself.

And last but not least, don’t forget, elysianfield is the white man, who, when asked, “how much money would you need to be given in order to be turned into a black man right now”

Let that sink in for a minute?

Any amount of money, and he couldn’t come up with a figure?

Then, this same white person, turns around, and a week later suggest black people accept $50,000 in cash to “move to another country.”

(but notice his passive aggressive language? His “suggestion is entirely dependent on the readers racist ASSUMPTIONS; not his)

Thank you for demonstrating your racism elysianfield; its very educational.

      • elysianfield March 29, 2017 at 11:35 am #

You have to work on your reading comprehension. The offer included any citizen so inclined…even you.

I did answer your question regarding a racial change…was very specific. Go find the answer in earlier week’s posts.

The ultimate goal of the program would be to remove those from this country who do not value their citizenship. and to partially empty the jails. Absent those in jail, and those who do not value their citizenship.the fabric of our society would change for the better.

You see racial animus in every post…a veil over your eyes that not only obscures your vision, but stunts your intellect. Millions of poor White people would take advantage of the second chance offer.

Proposed a solution without stating it…WTF? Is this a new form of Ebonics? I know your meme is supposedly from inner city schools, and comes from a dysfunctional environment, but Goddamn…reading comprehension…work on it.

Why do you assume Blacks would accept the offer disproportionally? And why would you deny them, or anyone else, a chance at betterment?

        • thwack March 29, 2017 at 2:29 pm #

Millions of poor White people would take advantage of the second chance offer.

What are we doing in a white supremacist system with millions of poor white people?

Maybe they should give you the finger and snatch all your wealth?

          • elysianfield March 29, 2017 at 7:14 pm #

Yes, they might give me the finger…however, I will not suffer the Digitus Impudicus as offered from South Africa, Montenegro, or wherever…won’t be able to see it, nor suffer loss of wealth from that distance. However, the motherfuckers living next door are another matter.

    • thwack March 29, 2017 at 8:43 am #

      in addition,

why limit the offer to convicted criminals?

Why not make the offer to any black person; since your unstated passive aggressive goal is to “get rid of black people?”

That is your goal isn’t it?

      • elysianfield March 29, 2017 at 11:41 am #

The goal is to rid our country of criminals and those who do not value their citizenship…your projection of racial preponderance is…telling.

Don’t want to accept the offer? Repeat after me…”I pledge allegiance to the Flag, of the….”

        • thwack March 29, 2017 at 2:39 pm #

Are you asking me to make a false pledge?

          “one nation” — false

          “under God” — false

          “indivisible” — false

“with liberty and justice for all” — you know thats false.

I made elysianfield and the rest of the white people reading this blog a cash offer of any amount they wanted, to prove this pledge was true.

And none of you could do it.

          Thank you all.

I tend to agree, besides – Medicare already did the entire scientific and management job in classifying the various Medical procedures – called CPT codes (Current Procedural Terminology).

Did you know that all private insurers are already using exact same classification courtesy of US Taxpayers?

However, still remains the problem of Medical Racket – price inflation and collusion, inability of the patient to do the “comparative shopping” for medical services, medications, etc.

    • FincaInTheMountains March 27, 2017 at 12:40 pm #

Probably, there should be a state-sponsored Web site where you could present your medical bill for analysis based on the competitive pricing in your particular area and some kind of Board of Medical Claims resolution which would act on the citizen’s information, referring some cases to local District attorneys.

    • FincaInTheMountains March 27, 2017 at 12:48 pm #

Medicare already has a straightforward formula for computing the price of the medical procedure based on CPT code – it has 3 pricing components: 1. Actual procedure Pricing 2. Pricing based on your ZIP code (average rent on the office or hospital bed) and 3. Liability Insurance component.

Usually, it is 2 – 3 times less than the doctor customary charges.

What’s hard is thinking about the right things. We declinists are nattering nabobs of negativism, perhaps in a good cause but clearly under appreciated as seers. We have been “wrong” long into these 10 years or should I say just not right yet. Out time may be coming. Like a good southern Baptist (which I am not) that knows the date and time of his salvation, I can date my conversion to inevitable system fail on Sept 1st, 2007. It was clear then that leaders had no intention of fixing any of our problems. They still don’t. They are trying to get the American exceptionalism narrative to work so they can be good stewards of it but it’s all turned to ashes. We meant well and then ended up bombing poor countries back to the stone age.
As far as I can tell people are not interested in a voluntary simplicity movement, a world made by hand, a sustainable farm, or life on a houseboat. They are not used to thinking but instead prefer following the script that is now so much in question. Changing that will require visible collapse: no internet, no gasoline, no electricity, or no ATM. Any one of those. The current slow slide is not a big enough 2 by 4 upside the head.
Many declinists like myself are not change agents. I appreciate the principled and consistent message to “Repent” by those that are. To get from where we are to where we need to go does not go through individualism. Guns, gold, and food stores may come into play but we should have a better story or the non-thinking class will just say let’s ride this tiger as long as we can.
If we are going to shovel more money to the military and are going to defund the EPA, I have one suggestion that would be beneficial. Forgive everyone’s mortgage and put $25,000 in everyone’s account that does not have a mortgage. Put it on the Fed balance sheet. I think Fannie Mae already owns 90% of US mortgages. I personally don’t think it’s ‘fair’ BUT if the financial system is going to go belly up I would like to have the neighbors I currently have rather than a bunch of 4 sale signs and REIT ownership.
The health care mess could be fixed if we went to cash payments for treatment. When my doctor says, hey-you should go get a stress test and its like $7,000 ($1800 with insurance) then I say no thank you. I’ll eat better, exercise more, and show up in the ER when I’m dying.
We need less military spending and better money. Squeaky voiced Ron Paul and Ross Perot both had a political following that can be re-activated with a better “presentation”. A better “voice”. Anyone on the horizon that could fill that role?

    • routersurfer March 27, 2017 at 5:08 pm #

It is not for us. So they will give us nothing. We will not have population problem in a few years. So sit back and enjoy the ride. We have had this ticket in our pockets for years.

    • DA March 28, 2017 at 1:07 pm #

Actually, decline doesn’t happen on a date, it happens over a period of time. We’ve been in that period of time for at least 50 years now, and more likely about 60-65, or the end of WWII, most of which we were simply blissfully unaware of our predicament. Even by that time all the demographic and resource limitations we’re faced with today were locked in and the future trend lines firmly established. There was simply no one alive at that time who could have successfully made the case (and a hearty few tried!) that post-war America couldn’t be, do, and become whatever it damn well pleased, limitations of any kind be damned!

And now here we are, the victims of our own success. There’s really nothing to be done about any of this now (IMO at least), except face up to the inevitable collapse. That’s how nature deals with invasive species who overrun their habitat, and homo sapiens – technology or no technology – is not exceptional in the least in that regard. In fact, our clever technological “solutions” do little more than dig our hole deeper every time they’re applied, as they provide false assurances that our environment’s carrying capacity has been permanently increased.

NATO is a figment of the imagination. It’s like every other alliance that the US put together since WW2, a coalition of the unwilling and unable.

Germans long ago gave up the ghost, they no longer have the vim and vigor to live, neither has anybody else in the cafe-layabout EU.

The US is tottering from financial and economic debility and pissing away its remaining scarce resources in this imagined conflict with Russia over a continent that Americans don’t know about and don’t care about.

But Russia hasn’t got the strength to take advantage of European and American weakness. Russia is too corrupt and too drunk and too depleted since the 20th Century blood-letting. They take over a few slivers of land right on their borders and let it go at that. That’s all they can do. So much for the all conquering Putin. This is mutually-assured non-destruction, two over-the-hill boxers in a clinch, too fat and tired to throw a punch.

I think you misjudge Russia and Putin. They were dealt a miserably losing hand in the wake of Yeltsin, but now all the chips are back on Putin’s side of the table, with the US apparently in the middle of a late stage drunken meltdown. Russia is wisely consolidating their depleted holdings and once again creating/strengthening regional alliances. The US is enthusiastically burning their entire post-war empire to the ground and taking their foolish allies and own citizens(!) with them.

Are you nuts? How are you planning to pay off your debt with the cut DoD budget?

Increase efficiency in military spending – so not more than 20 – 30 percent is stolen – that is a reasonable plan of action. Now I think that 75 percent or more is stolen.

No, I have not, but just doing comparative comparison for price/effectiveness of Russian/American weapons systems I have a sneaky suspicion that most of American military budget is being “appropriated”, e.g. disappears in unknown (or rather well-known) direction.

It has to come to some reasonable limits.

The government is in the business of transferring wealth from the bottom 90+% to the top 10-% at the request and direction of the obscenely wealthy via their 10’s of thousands of lobbyists. If you seriously want to save money in government take the profit out of it for the obscenely wealthy and you will save shiploads.

Peak oil mitigation has perilous similarity to deck chair shuffling methodology of the Fed and cooperative worldwide financial institutions to effect commerce using electrons… Bitcoin is an extreme example of absolute dependence on satellites and servers and electrons flowing without magnet pulse, etc. I.E., “STATIC” as demonstrated by an army surplus Tesla Coil! Peak Oil is defined by more than what volume of oil is thought to be in the ground. Geopolitics figures more than geophysics in Peak Oil calculus going forward.

Oil in the ground might just be more valuable with large portion left “On Deposit” as primary backer of currency, instead of every last barrel being burned up. Contrariwise, America’s intrinsic national wealth is ever declining owing to adding national debt to keep Saudis in power and cars running

Rex Tillerson will work oil recovery with Russia to help keep the peace with America. Eliminating USA dependency on Muslim oil is requisite to being clear of the Middle East meltdown moving as fast as the armies around Israel position for action against the little Satan. Russia knows this, and in oil, we have foundation for keeping US/Russian peace. Sidebar is Putin’s understanding of Genesis 12 v-3 regarding downside of messing with Israel.

Move to underground shelters by well-off in the States provides jobs, so why not? Shit happens. Here’s a thought: Some of the mega-millions of Marijuana mammon might be invested in food security? For instance, let’s look at Northern California plantation profit in Placer and Nevada Counties.

Mass evacuation of coast and valley cities owing to natural/manmade disaster plugs I-80. Auburn, Colfax and Truckee are on I-80, with another added detail: The railway is at hand in these three communities, suggesting ability to resupply mass movement of people with victuals and essentials of life no matter the highway is jammed for weeks or longer. Katrina evacuations invites study. EU gasoline supplies were needed to help on that episode.

Ideal preparations include preposition of container handling equipment to unload rail cars to operable trucks and other conveyance so communities and rural places can get food from far away. Here it is valuable to say the best shelter is one you never need to use, because inconvenient as rail supply may be, we will get by.. Colfax CA is rare example of small town rail yard with a few side tracks and adjacent warehousing made to order for distribution to the pass-through travelers heading east.

In Colfax we see the 1931 Fruit Growers Association Building, reinforced concrete, but slated for demolition account of asbestos. This would be a bad mistake, boys and girls. Surely some of the sidelined marijuana money in GV/NC could be determined available to save the CFGA building! Simply as artifact of Narrow Gauge history the CFGA is worthy of preservation. Food security through crisis is better than bitcoin.

Current direction on Peak Oil is, sad to say (See BULLETIN of Atomic Scientists CLOCK),rendered moot by forced consumption reduction. Many millions of cars parked by Electro-magnetic pulse? Jim K occasionally alludes to the demise of passenger railroads. May we submit: cargo haul on the rails is part of America’s existential solution set. Railway awaits the call: “Second Dimension Surface Transport Logistics Platform”.

We need a 21st century “Magna Carta”. Just as the monarchy was subdued back in that day, it now needs to occur with governments. They need to be reduced in size and influence to a very marked degree. Small entities, governing on their own local area, in place of these huge centralized monstrosities that are totally unworkable and damaging to human society and culture. The people are too weak, absorbed and “unthinking” to take action in this direction on the concerted, en masse level needed. It can only happen when the buffoons and criminals in charge of current governments collapse their systems, and the people finally have the opportunity to restructure and reorganize. (Yet, will they have enough group awareness and solidarity to do so? Or, will their failure to take action contribute to the birthing of a new oppressive regime?). Don’t plan on America or its government evolving into a higher order. Don’t expect politicians or your government to bring about resolutions (we still have the same socio-economic problems that existed in the Roman Empire!). The resolution of man’s problems will only occur when there is a resolution of the human mind and spirit. Only then will humanity have a chance or rising from its current muck and evolving in the direction of a civilization that works (consisting of peace, prosperity, trust, tolerance, respect, cooperation, et al).

In advance of Trump’s infrastructure legislative/budget proposal, a memo to the “Freedom Caucus”:

‘It Costs A Lot To Win, But Even More To Lose.’

All across the land millions of young American minds and bodies are being wasted/untapped because “industry” typically locates in areas that inevitably become affordable for the lower/middle working classes.

IOW, too little industry has become concentrated in limited locales: New York,Seattle, San Francisco Bay Area, Denver, Boston etc. Meanwhile, potential American talent/inventiveness/ productivity atrophies in vast swaths of the country.

Ideally, the Trump/Bannon infrastructure proposals would more evenly distribute and expand industry across the land and in doing so, provide the “invisibly hand’ a helping hand to lower the cost of living in economically vibrant regions of the country via expanded supply/competition of industry locales(rents in the aforementioned cities are simply out of reach for lower/middle class workers).

But Trump/Bannon are going to need Democratic Party co-operation and support to do so, and at least one, Bernie Sanders, has indicated he will support such proposals.

But will the greater GOP be willing to pay the price and as Trump has rightly proclaimed, ‘prime the economic pump’?

We’ll see, but if history is any indication, the “Freedom Caucus/ Principled Conservative’ crowd will have no problem ‘letting that deal go down’…in flames.

    Mr Kunstler
I would like to correct a serious misperception that is prevalent among many in our society.
Russia did not lose 20 million people in WW2. The Soviet Union did.
As those of us old enough to remember know, the Soviet Union was a federation of a number of constituent republics.
Here is the more accurate breakdown:
    Ukraine 6 million
    Russia 5 million
    Belarus 3 million
The remaining toll comes from the rest.
Ukraine has unfortunately been at the mercy of foreign meddling in its affairs for hundreds of years. I include Russia in this category which has been the major aggressor.
I hope that from now on, despite your obvious bias against the nation of Ukraine, this will help you in any further discussion of the matter.

  47. Buck Stud March 27, 2017 at 4:25 pm #

I saw this comment from a newspaper article and it resonated and echoed many prior comments on this site: that is, the cost of actual health care itself:

“everyone is arguing over the tiny pieces and not looking at the big picture, on the left and the right: in our economy entities (private companies and individuals) have traditionally operated under one of two mechanism to keep costs reasonable – market competition or government price regulation. If you buy a car, or a house clothing or go to a restaurant the consumer can compare prices and quality and spend their money where the wish. free market competition. In instances where there is no competition ,such as utilities, the government establishes retail prices to ensure that the players make an adequate profit and the consumer doesn’t get gouged. Only in health care do we have all of these entities operating with neither natural brake.

contrary to what the industry wants you to believe, health insurance companies struggling with paying health care invoices and managing premiums is NOT competition. They have little to do with the costs of an office visit, an appendectomy of a pill. blaming them for health care costs is like buying the largest, most advance big screen tv and cursing UPS when you get the visa bill. health insurance is little more than the delivery system or clearing house for health care, they do not control price.

Since there is no natural downward pressure on costs in a huge, essential sector of our economy, the system will always consume as much money as we shovel into its maw. if we doubles the amount available for health care next year it would be taken by the players involved. In Boston most of the hospitals are owned by two groups. They did not combine to “create efficiencies” as stated, they are monopolies that
were created to dig in their heels against Medicaid and medicare and insurance companies to resist efforts to rein in costs.

Now the federal government is subsidizing with massive amounts of taxpayer money, unless we introduce real competition in will never end.”

    • DA March 28, 2017 at 9:20 pm #

The rub being, exactly what is “real competition.” Not arguing with any premise the above post may or may not have meant to imply, but to be perfectly clear, when we say “cost competition,” what we REALLY mean is healthcare rationing, and that is the ESSENTIAL rub that absolutely NO ONE wants to talk about.

Because when push finally comes to shove and your life-saving procedure is about to be denied, no matter through how many levels of bureaucracy and paperwork it might go, it just MIGHT be somewhat important to SOMEBODY in your life to know EXACTLY WHY and EXACTLY WHO approved it.

But as a personal aside, I’m amazed that anyone would possibly imagine that that private sector would be any better at “allocating” such decisions. But that’s just me.

  48. tucsonspur March 27, 2017 at 5:34 pm #

The argument can certainly be made that government, with its attendant bureaucracies inclined steeply towards the status quo, stifles competition.

Original, creative thought often provokes the self-interested, preservational, or jealous put down.

Last Sunday’s NYT front paged a review of Ganesh Sitaraman’s book, “The Crisis of the Middle Class Constitution”, “why economic inequality threatens our Republic”.

It says, among many other things of course, “American health care does a poor job of delivering health, but is exquisitely designed as an inequality machine, commanding an ever larger share of GDP and funneling resources to the top of the income distribution”.

While this thought is not particularly original, here’s one that may be for most people; reviving the Roman tribunate: “51 citizens would be selected by lot from the bottom 90% of the income distribution ( I’m thinking maybe the bottom fifty with a certain floor).

They would be able to veto one statute, one executive order and one Supreme Court decision each year; they would be able to call a referendum, and impeach federal officials”.

All of this can be tweaked and fine tuned. Many may argue that we already have enough checks and balances. And while poor people do sometimes obtain political office, their overall voice is muted by the rich and powerful. Intriguing.

On another note, there is also a review of “Teeth” (no not the vagina dentata movie), “the story of beauty, inequality, and the struggle for oral health in America”.

Mary Otto points out that the dental industry is mostly a private one, that revolves almost entirely around one’s ability to pay.

The following is a quote from the review:

“We fear the dentist because we fear judgement as well as pain; we are used to the implication that if we have a tooth problem, if our teeth are decaying or crooked or yellow, it is because we have failed, and failed at something so intimate that it means we ourselves are failures”.

So, just “grin and bear it”. But can you afford to smile?

  49. janet March 27, 2017 at 5:57 pm #

I may be suffering from the curse of the thinking class, but Trump’s says his plan is to build an “impenetrable, physical, tall, powerful, beautiful, southern border wall” between the US and Mexico.

The border is about 1,900 miles long over all sorts of terrain. Mr Trump says his wall will cover 1,000 miles.

Of course, he needs money to build it and Mexico is not going to pay for it, soTrump now says he wants congress to fund the first $1 billion of the border wall to cover 62 miles.

Now if you divide 1,000 miles by 62 miles you get a total cost of the wall as $16 Billion. With cost overruns it will easily surpass $20 Billion which is twice the $10 Billion Trump said it would cost when he was campaigning. I may have caught Trump in a lie.

And that is only for building a 1,000 mile wall for a 1,900 mile border with Mexico. My guess is that the immigration streams and tunnels will just move to the half of the border without a wall. In other words, $20 Billion dollars wasted for a useless monument.

Burn the coal, pay the toll. Take the weight, pay the freight. Global Warming may be the only thing saving us from the incipient ice age. The Sun is as smooth as a baby’s behind. No sunspots means He’s about to take a nap.

Your discussion with Thwack was interesting. I favor his pov of view strongly. The idea of life and intelligence coming from nothing is like thinking a hurricane could turn a junkyard into a 747 Airliner. You say an infinite number of times will do it? Guess what? Each universe only has so many years. Everything that begins, ends. That’s logical, right? There is no infinite time, even if there is an eternity beyond time and space. Trying to conflate the two as you are doing is actually a sneaky metaphysical argument.

Beyond that, I think the converse is best argument FOR there being a design or guiding hand in Evolution: there simply has not been enough time since the beginning of the Earth to get us to this stage if it was all just random. The mutations must have been something more than just happenstance.

The Buddhists would favor your argument of no Designer or First Cause, but take it way further. Even when this universe ends, the new one will pick up where this one left off in some ways, with it being fashioned according to the unfulfilled desires of the unliberated beings of the last one. They might admit there is Design or Intelligence but no Designer per se. Not sure. Some of the Cosmic Buddhas seem to take the place of God in the Mahayana. On these levels, their explanations aren’t always more logical than Christianity, Islam, or Hinduism.

If I were to believe that the Universe is of finite duration/time, then I could accept your argument of intelligent design…however, a “Universe not eternal” is but another argument which we can ponder, perhaps accept, but not prove. The arguments are circular…they always must return to a blind acceptance of the paradigm that fits/validates the overall premise.

“…if poison mushrooms grow, and babies come with crooked backs…”

I am comfortable with Chaos, infinite blackness of the Universe and the insignificant. loneliness of death and the human condition…and I am at an age where I should not be buying green bananas. IF, however, I had the luxury of believing in a Supreme Being, I can guarantee you that I would be living in a Monastery, wearing a hair shirt, and dedicating my remaining life to whatever that particular God required…and I view others beliefs within that frame of reference…pardon me for that.

So you reject the Big Bang? Your scientific metaphysic is Sir Fred Hoyle’s steady state?

And triangles have three angles by definition. And therefore cannot be square. Fair? That doesn’t enter into it – just the way it is.

I accept the Big Bang. My ridiculous theory is no more so than…dark energy, or for that matter, grace…again, pardon me.

    • janet March 28, 2017 at 12:22 am #

Not weird. It is just that some people are having some difficulty accepting gender fluidity. They don’t understand that one can have an overlap of, or indefinite lines between, gender identity having two or more genders (being bigender, trigender, or pangender); having no gender (being agender, nongendered, genderless, genderfree or neutrois); moving between genders or having a fluctuating gender identity (genderfluid); or being third gender or other-gendered, a category which includes those who do not place a name to their gender.

It appears to not be a country of live and let live, a country of freedom to live your life. You have to fit into a binary gender box or they call you a “freak” … that’s freaky!

40 refugees work at Sterling Technologies, a plastic molding company based near the shores of Lake Erie. They earn $8-14 an hour. The refugees at Sterling come from all over the world, from Syria to Sudan, Chad to Bhutan. And they’ve all passed the company’s standard drug test.

“In our lives, we don’t have drugs,” said Alzamel, who was hired within three months after arriving in Pennsylvania. “We don’t even know what they look like or how to use them.”

But for an increasing number of American-born workers, passing drug tests is a big problem. The percentage of American workers testing positive for illegal drugs has climbed steadily over the last three years to its highest level in a decade.

Because of the increase in positive drug tests, the refugees who have reached America in recent years are finding a more welcoming hiring climate, at least for menial manufacturing jobs.

Nearly 6,000 refugees have settled in the last five years in Louisville, Kentucky, helping companies hire workers for jobs that had gone unfilled. Methamphetamine use is so high in Louisville that the number of people testing positive for meth in workplace drug tests is 47% higher than the national average.

Welcome the refugees. They are hard-working, law-abiding, drug-free, and do jobs drugged Americans cannot qualify for.

Duterte welcomes Russian warships in ports of Philippines

That is a serious challenge to American control over ocean trade routes in Pacific. Russian cheap small missile ships, carrying firepower equal or even exceeding American large and expensive destroyers, now will get a permanent resupply base in Philippines.

The control over the ocean trade routes is one of the main sources of US economic superiority.

However, when comprehension is attained, that’s when the real action begins.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said during the latest briefing: if US will continue leaking joint US-Russian secrets, Russia could leak them too.

I would like to say that if the practice of leaking information that concerns not just the United States but also Russia, which has become a tradition in Washington in the past few years, continues, there will come a day when the media will publish leaks about the things that Washington asked us to keep secret, for example, things that happened during President Obama’s terms in office. Believe me, this could be very interesting information.
Our American colleagues must decide if they respect the diplomatic procedure, if they keep their word on the arrangements made between us, primarily arrangements made at their own request, or we create a few very nice surprises for each other.

      • elysianfield March 28, 2017 at 11:34 am #

Yes, the problems we face. and they are many, have solutions that are simple and could work…except for the fact that an advanced democratic government will not allow powerful interests to be diminished in favor of the Country as a whole.

Philosopher Kings. Plato’s solution would get the job done, and solve many of the existential problems facing this country…a benign dictator would…wait a minute…Hitler was such a benign dictator…Mussolini, also. Apparently something in the Human Psyche, given absolute power, corrupts.

The solution? There is none. Societies, Nations, Empires rise and fall…some exist longer than the others, but in the end…always blood.

        But I have a bad attitude….

        • Janos Skorenzy March 28, 2017 at 1:46 pm #

And increasingly not violent interests either. Hence BLM and the Black Bloc. Sam Francis called it anarcho-tyranny. In other words, selective enforcement of the Law and unequal judgment and “concern”. As Rush said today, imagine if Bush had been caught spying on Obama. It would be the story of the century. As it is, Liberals and their Deep State programmers are fine with whatever shit treatment Trump gets – up to and including assassination.

Trump assuming emergency powers is the only way to save America at this point. Guided by Herr Bannon of course.

Sounds right, Malthus, he’s a rude shill.

If BLM had a lick of sense, they’d stop inciting rioting vs. street cops’ going where the EASY busts are, in ghetto Hoods where the residents toque up on Main St. in broad daylight.
BLM would get some respect (from worldly people) if they’d point out instead that, virtually no (qualified) cops are sent to clean up the (mostly white) guys swindling $millions on sweetheart deals on Wall St., and in Big Pharma, “Higher” Ed, etc.

          • aNanyMouse March 29, 2017 at 7:01 pm #

Seeing as Rush & Rachel M. would be a Match made in heaven, maybe they should do a porn flick together, in which she should strip from clothes depicting a Russian flag, as a token of Penance for her shilling (with the “hacking” BS) for Bastinda’s Project.
I won’t be ready to urge her to commit seppuku, until the new Cold War really looks like it’s actually going to heat up. I trust that Finca can keep us posted on the trends.

  65. FincaInTheMountains March 28, 2017 at 7:45 am #

Do not bet on American stupidity – it is greatly exaggerated.

In particular, the joy about the results of applying to modern Russia methods of ideological struggle during the Cold War was somewhat unfounded.

For a start, this is not stupidity, it’s the effect called “to be caught by your own propaganda.” Americans, who are supposed to do this, really at some point convinced themselves that Putin is an authoritarian leader who, if not on bayonets, is sitting on police batons.

But sooner or later, they had to come to conclusion that against such a popular leader such methods of fighting are useless. And now here we go: Navalny takes schoolchildren to fight Medvedev and not Putin, and thereby not only shakes the basics and earns some points, but also saves Medvedev from a bad case of administrative flu.

Indeed, now the complications after the flu, forcing to appoint to his many posts his deputies, will look like the victory of Navalny, which for the Russian state is simply unacceptable.

Zugzwang however has a place to be. The only thing that can save the situation is a sense of humor – you should immediately find a new strain of the flu virus and call it in Navalny’s name.

Good news, JHK, the “thinking class” as you call it has resumed their activities (a day late and a dollar short). I have been to several meetings where we are discussing what is to be done about health care insurance, about immigration and most interestingly of all, what is going on about the Trump/Russia collusion.

We are basically a large group of citizens who are interested in finding out the truth. Which is difficult in light of Trump’s obsessive lying, the entire government being controlled by various factions of the GOP and of course the recent actions of Devin Nunes. But we persist!

We started off with the Women’s March on DC which was bigger than anybody expected. Now we’re learning that the youth of Moscow is peacefully protesting the corruption of Putin (he can’t poison everyone with radioactive isotopes no matter how hard he tries). So the “thinking class” has been re-activiated out of necessity.

More importantly, it looks like Michael Flynn will sing like a bird. He has no reason to take the bullet for Trump. Wonder if Trump has contacted Putin about those radioactive isotopes?

Thought I would share an email recently received. This was sent by a retired Chief Master Sergeant my framing crew built a home for in 1986.

“Are you happy that Paul Manaford (SP?) has basically elected putin and drumpf. And do you think that rednecks, who are the most ardent gun owners/supporters, are going to save you from the tyranny that is now closer than the horizon. I have mine and I will take out a few close by but I know I am in the minority.”

Others here have noted similar conversations. All of my redneck friends would come to my aid if needed, they all have evidence that I am trustworthy, but just shake their heads at the fact I have not drunk the conservative drink. Let us address probability. How many here think there is any chance at all there are enough citizens to create a “party dedicated to getting our house in order.”?

I would like to join the party dedicated to getting our house in order.
Whichever party that turns out to be should place a high priority on solving the following problem:

A few days ago, I learned that Ankeny, Iowa is the fastest-growing city in the US, and that the population of Ankeny is increasing by five people per day. The urban sprawl resulting from all that growth is nothing less than obscene.

Now we go back to something my 7th grade geography teacher told our class, during the 1961-62 school year. Our teacher stated, “The richest square mile on earth is just north of Des Moines.” He was not talking about gold, or oil, or diamonds. He was talking about rich farmland.

It is a terrible irony that Ankeny, Iowa–that fast-growing city–is also just north of Des Moines. So, some 55 years after our geography teacher told us about it, the richest square mile of farmland on the planet is likely buried under a parking lot, or cheap housing development, or maybe a strip mall.

The media celebrate this insane destruction as if it were progress. As a political issue, this so-called “development” is not even on the outer fringe of awareness of any politician that I know of. That must change, if there is to be any decent future for this country.

Ankeny is only one of several suburbs around Des Moines that are rapidly expanding onto flat, black-soil farmland.

(From Des Moines, Iowa, the sprawl capital of the USA.)

    • MrTibbs March 28, 2017 at 11:10 am #

We have friends in Ankeny and sadly, local law enforcement is well known for excessive force in maintaining a local police state, and drug addiction rivals that of ignorant blue zones.

  79. volodya March 28, 2017 at 2:22 pm #

DA, maybe I do misjudge Russia and Putin. See, I look at Russia in terms of its wounds, self-inflicted and otherwise, and unfulfilled promise.

That’s not to say it’s all bad. Or that they’re doing everything wrong as you pointed out with your examples. Also, look at the firsts they had in the space-race. And in WW2 they did beat what was the best military force, man for man, in the world.

They have other massive advantages. They have what could be the world’s most resource-rich territory, great agricultural land, fresh water, timber, minerals, energy. Lots and lots of space. They have it made. Or should have.

But they saddled themselves with an outrageous kleptocracy. Couldn’t Russian oligarchs put a lid on it, even just a bit? Where’s the Russian intelligentsia been? What I’m hearing is that Russian courts are far from impartial administrators of justice, ie they’re rotten. So couldn’t they all have a look at legal codes and judicial traditions and systems in other countries and adapt them for Russian uses? Their road-blocks are the ones they’re putting up themselves.

Couldn’t Stalin have managed things without a reign of terror? Was it necessary to deplete his officer corp in the 1930s? And the holodomor?

Couldn’t the Czars see how far behind Russia was as compared to its European neighbors? It’s as if they begged for a popular uprising. Well, they got one.

But I think their major problem is the hangover in terms of physical and societal destruction they suffered even if a good deal of it was the Russians’ own fault and especially Stalin’s. Not just in WW2 but WW1 and the revolution. I don’t think they ever recovered.

Anyway, to my eyes, considering the globe-striding colossus that the USSR was (given the war-time momentum it built up) modern Russia looks a pale shadow in comparison. I guess the impetus petered out over time. Maybe the accumulated weight of its history and its wounds dragged it down.

Then again, maybe Putin will surprise me. Or maybe Russians collectively.

    • janet March 28, 2017 at 2:36 pm #

” considering the globe-striding colossus that the USSR was (given the war-time momentum it built up) modern Russia looks a pale shadow in comparison” –volodya

Bingo Janet! Take your pick of our fine selection of oversized cuddly bear prizes.

Volodya, I think Putin has been admirably restrained since he took over, what with the full scale meltdown of the world order in the aftermath of the 9-11 hoax and the continued constant provocations coming from both political parties running the sham US “democracy.”

        • DA March 28, 2017 at 5:05 pm #

And there’s a compelling (and admirable, IMO) historical argument to be made that Russia has simply never aspired to be a global empire. Who would want all the drama, other than silly, greedy, western capitalists apparently. Must be something in the western European character (from which the US came) that spurs them to such foolishness.

My sense is that as long as gay sailors can run 12 miles, do twelve pyramid sets of pullups, withstand two hours of combat side-stroking in some foreign shore’s dark freezing surf, kidnap a terror suspect in a busy village without arousing any suspicions, and take a joke, the majority of operators won’t care who their shipmates are inclined to bed, date, or marry. Sorry, I don’t read it that way at all>. As far as swindlers and thieves, are you kidding? Realizing that some amount of corruption goes with the territory in any large state bureaucracy, Putin was the one to at least begin putting it in check again in Russia. Look at the US now. We’re literally redefining corruption, as the term no longer applies once you’ve openly legalized it. That’s what all the current brouhaha in DC is about. It’s an open food fight between two political factions who have both been revealed to be openly, brazenly, and completely unrepentantly corrupt to their very cores.

“Putin was the one to at least begin putting it in check again in Russia. Look at the US now. We’re literally redefining corruption” –DA

How naive. What elected US leader has shown the same level of corruption as Putin?

Putin’s vacation villas in Spain. During his time as Deputy Mayor of St. Petersburg Putin had registered an economic relations committee called Twentieth Trust. The government gave the company 2.5 billion rubles for a construction project. Nothing was constructed. Instead, former police investigator Andrey Zykov says the money went to vacation villas in Spain for Putin and his cronies. No one punished Deputy Mayor Putin.

Putin has a complicated way of funneling money to pet projects, like a vacation home outside Sochi. Exiled businessman Sergei Kolesnikov says money travels from one organization to another and ends up in a business where Putin owns the majority stake. This helped him build his dream home, a $250 million pad worthy of a modern day czar. Putin says the pad isn’t his.

Putin’s getting rich. The various moneymaking schemes have been good to Putin. Back in 2007, Putin controlled assets worth $40 billion. The CIA confirmed this estimate in 2014. He’s one of the world’s richest individuals. So the past couple decades have been good for the former, unemployed KGB agent.

DA, give me the names of American officials of any position who have funneled government money into a one billion dollar mansion like this one of Putin’s:

You’ve obviously got enough money to support an internet connection and enough free time to waste on boards like this, so why in the fuck don’t you focus on the rather obvious political ills of your OWN country, instead of focusing on those of a country half a world away from you with people you could give one rat’s ass less about?

The theory of the Western Colored Projects has been experimentally confirmed

This whole story with the head of the Congressional Intelligence Commission, Devin Nunes, who told Trump about the wiretapping of the employees of his transitional “government”, is either delirious madness, or is the very experimental confirmation of Western Colored Projects theory, and not only that but the theory of Hillary Clinton coup d’état, and the sect behind Hillary Clinton, whose history is traced back to the 12th century, and which I called the Western Black Project.

Indeed, the amount of delirium on this topic, which over the past couple of days spilled over into the Internet and the media pages, is simply off scale, and it is impossible to list the plots that have been invented to explain what happened.

I note only one thing: the Clintonoids demand the removal of Devin Nunes on the grounds that he told the object of the investigation the results of the investigation, and at the same time claim that he did not tell Trump, but Trump told him about the evidence of the wiretapping in order to avoid the need to apologize to President Obama for alleging that he ordered the wiretapping.

In the framework of my theory, Trump “slandered” Obama because only the accusation of the President in wiretapping allowed him to demand the creation of a special commission of Congress, ala Watergate, to investigate this incident. And this investigation would inevitably prove that the order for the wiretap was given by Hillary Clinton, who overthrew Obama on June 10, 2016, and this threat was absolutely necessary to neutralize the demands of the Clintonoids to set up a special congressional commission to investigate the links between Trump’s election campaign and Russian intelligence.

But Hillary again outsmarted everyone and when Trump said that his Obama accusations are based on articles in the press, in exchange for Clintonoids statements, that there is no reason to investigate Trump’s connections with Russian intelligence, Bastinda apparently forced the FBI director Comey to state that his agency conducts an investigation of Trump’s relations with the Russians in the context of counter-intelligence operation.

And then Devin Nunes covered the embrasure of the machine gun with his own body and said that he had told Trump about the wiretapping of his staff, thus neutralizing Trump’s statement that his accusations of Obama were based on the press.

Try to find another logical explanation for what happened!

But the fact that all this intrigue was confined to the death of Denis Voronenko casts additional light on what happened. The fact that Voronenko as well as Berezovsky were executed as traitors after they were going to return to Russia is obvious and does not require proof. Rather just demonstratively executed in the most shameful way. And they were sacrificed on March 23 – the day the Reichstag in 1933 declared Hitler to be the dictator of Germany!

Since then, this date has acquired independent significance for the Western Black Project, but then Hitler was declared a dictator so that on the next day on March 24 he announced the Millennium Reich.

The Third Reich, destroyed by hateful Russia on May 9, 1945, as well as the First Millennium Reich, founded on March 24, 1084 by the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, Henry IV, by the method of installing the antipope Clement II on the papal throne, which proves that it is a religious sect.

Undoubtedly something even viler was scheduled on 23 or 24 March, but the explosion in Balakleya prevented this infamy.

    • DA March 28, 2017 at 7:53 pm #

This whole conversation has degenerated into a fun house hall of mirrors. If I had a pet theory to promote, I’d guess that the overwhelming confusion generated by all this is the goal, rather than any specific outcome.

What’s not being discussed but should be is whether Russian “meddling” in a US election, barring actually drafting actual “Manchurian Candidates” or similar, is any big deal at all, in that we already know for a fact that the US has been doing the same the world over for at least the past 65 years or so, many times not even bothering to conceal it.

But of course it should be considered that in a government that operates almost entirely by the tried and true “smoke and mirrors” method these days (much like late-days Rome, which was all palace intrigue as the ship of state went down), this whole “he said, she said” distraction about whether or not Russia influenced US elections for nefarious purposes of its own might just be yet another political sleight of hand to distract the American sheeple from the fact that either, both, or all three sides (or more?) involved in this little DC beltway melodrama are similarly just blowing smoke for their own nefarious, albeit entirely domestic, purposes.

    • aNanyMouse March 28, 2017 at 8:52 pm #

Finca, it’s really getting hard to tell whether you’re being facetious or serious, e.g. when you write that “But Hillary again outsmarted everyone….”
Or when you write that Voronenko etc. were “… executed in the most shameful way”. Were they part of the Black Project, or was their “shameful” execution part of that Project?
Likewise with “The Third Reich, destroyed by hateful Russia…” Hateful to the Black Project, or to whom?

      • FincaInTheMountains March 28, 2017 at 9:11 pm #

Apparently, there were a series of agreements between Trump and Hillary, starting with Hillary accepting election defeat in exchange of Trump’s promise not to pursue the criminal investigation, given during the election debate.

Apparently, Hillary one by one has broken them all.

The last one was the agreement that Hillary team accepts that there is no evidence of collusion between the Trump team and Russian intelligence, sounded last Sunday from the mouths of leading Clinonoids from all TV channels. Immediately after that Trump twitted that he saw the evidence of wiretapping of his campaign in the Media.

After that, there was a Comey testimony before the House Intelligence committee that FBI is investigating Trump campaign for Russian connections.

        Pure Shakespeare.

“Putin has restored Russian Honor, fuck the money.” –finca

Under Putin Russia has gone downhill. Internationally Russia faces isolation, sanctions, a new cold war even. And at home, Russia under Putin is in a continued economic decline. Protests across Russia last Sunday marked the coming of age of a new adversary for the Kremlin: a generation of young people driven not by the need for stability that preoccupies their parents but by a yearning for change. Putin is going down, just like all the autocratic dictators before him. Tick. Tock.

    • DA March 28, 2017 at 8:16 pm #

Janet, Janet, Janet. Economic decline, especially as measured by western standards and reported by western economic “experts,” is actually a good thing. It reflects, in many cases, a return to the local economies this blog promotes, which are routinely under-estimated or simply not counted at all in western GDP figures.

Similarly, although I haven’t had time to research it in depth yet, you can bet that Sunday’s protests “all across Russia” were nothing like what you’re hearing reported by the western MSM. And even assuming all those reports are true, what change is a generation of young people truly longing for? The long-awaited “cornucopia” of western capitalism that surrounds you and I every day? The dream of having their very own slab of electronically infused plastic to carry around and stare at every minute of the day so they can keep abreast of the love life and aspirations of the latest obscenely wealthy and morally degenerate fill-in-the-blank pop media star of the minute?

As far as “autocratic dictators,” what I’ve come to realize over the course of my now rather longish lifetime is that the one’s that are easily categorized as such – the Hitlers, the Stalins, the fill in the blank heres – are rarely the ones you need to worry about most. True evil is almost always much more subtle than that.

      • aNanyMouse March 28, 2017 at 9:36 pm #

How do these Russia protests compare to the mass US protests vs. the attack on Iraq? Anywhere near the size? Any chance of mattering more?

        • FincaInTheMountains March 28, 2017 at 9:54 pm #

There were about 100 protest locations in Russia, in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Yekaterinburg (the major military industrial center in Urals, where I happened to live 30 years).

18 locations were legal (had permits) and 72 were dispersed by the Police. Harshest sentence was 15 days of administrative arrest – usual punishment in Russia for appearing drunk in public and making a fuss.

Most of the protesters were high-school and college kids inspired by FaceBook. Some were paid to participate.

Before that there was a movie produced by Navalny about the corruption of Russian Prime Minister Medvedev (most likely he is corrupt), so protesters demanded PM resignation.

Of course the fact that Navalny is corrupt himself to the gills and got few suspended sentences, nobody discussed.

It all looked like a rehearsal for coming 2018 Presidential elections.

Honor doesn’t go far when you can’t buy shoes or buy food.

Under President Putin, Russia’s economy has seen real income drop for the third consecutive year and poverty climb by 15 percent as global oil prices remain low. Russians now spend about 50 percent of their money on food.

Russia’s weakened currency has also seen the prices of imported goods become more expensive, while Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov has projected that the national economy would grow by just 1.5 percent this year. In all, Russia’s GDP sank from $2.23 trillion in 2013 to $1.33 trillion in 2015, a 40 percent drop. It then fell by another 0.6 percent in 2016.

This is how American justice is suppose to work. However, here in my grand ole state of California, the son would be charged with 3 counts of murder, the father with “accessory after-the-fact” and the getaway driver would have been set free to testify against the son and father.

Furthermore, the getaway driver would then be allowed to sue the victims of said such burglary, and if she was “illegal” her attorney fees in the lawsuit would be paid for by the State.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) said Tuesday that he’ll never reveal the source behind his claim that members of Donald Trump’s team had indirectly come under surveillance by U.S. intelligence agencies.

“We will never reveal sources and methods,” Nunes, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said to ABC News’ Mary Bruce on Tuesday.

Even other members of the committee, which is investigating Russian interference in the presidential campaign, will not learn how Nunes obtained information he said indicated that key figures close to Trump were monitored by U.S. intelligence, Nunes said.

Undermining Trump’s internal positions, the Deep State – career bureaucrats appointed or aligned with the Clinton Clan, whether it wants it or not, undermines the status of the US itself.

Russia, it turns out, has a minimum of two years to solve the tasks facing the country and, in fact, unhindered expansion of its influence in the world, including holding Presidential elections, at most – four.

Now you’re gettin’ it. This specifically applies to *all* the posts here by obvious shotgun posters. (#8 birdshot; that’s a lot of pellets…)
The purpose? To distract from JHK’s missives, or at the least, to neuter the main points with a massive pile of blather. Don’t wonder why no one can stay on topic.

    Case in point:
“My hypothesis is that Russia would most of all like to be left alone.” — JHK

So, to neuter this very salient point (and its likely accuracy), a blizzard of posts about the necessity of continued meddling and Putin as boogeyman. Who is it that wouldn’t want a rational diplomatic policy and sovereign countries running their own affairs? Simple really; since the addled asshole, Reagan, King of the Hollywood Jingo Fantasists, it’s been our fate to have our perceptions steered by think-tanks and “news” outlets, owned and operated by the burgeoning 3-letter agencies. Do we imagine they might want to give over their control and information omniscience and disband at this stage in the game? Total spectrum dominance is still the aim, by any and all means.

In ’68, we were treated to the Buckley-Vidal debates, which sank to a catastrophically infantile level, thanx mostly to Vidal’s systematic resorts to Ad Hominems at Buckley. I can only wonder how Vidal, rather than, say, Chomsky (or RFK, if he’s lived, and been available after he’d lost the Dem nomination), came to be chosen by ABC, to debate Buckley. It’s virtually certain, that Chomsky or Bobby would’ve been at least somewhat more gentlemanly.

onehunglo re-read post and notice deletion of post surround poverty in rural China….the one where people so poor resort to eat cat, dog and rat.

why anybody resort to censorship here??

But as long as we can attack that blacks, its all good.

    • thwack March 29, 2017 at 11:31 am #

In the game between conservatives and liberals its important to understand both groups consider black people to be NOT “players” but “footballs.”

And this shouldn’t be surprising if the qualification of “white” means anything?

For example, is it possible both liberal LGBTQs and their supporters,

Racist conservatives and their supporters BOTH consider any sexual act that doesn’t result in a pale skinned, blond haired, blue eyed white baby,

to be an act of sodomy?

Do you see how both types of white people could use this concept as a wedge against the other?

and not reveal it to nonwhite people?

See how black people get tricked into alliances with people who think black sexuality is as deviant and unnatural as theirs?

In some ways, black people really are stupid and ignorant.

      • onehunglo March 29, 2017 at 11:44 am #

        onehunglo have one more question…

why the one called “Janos” always provide praise for hitler, speak of “white supremacy” and denigrate all else??

he seem like program “hate bot” who provide over the top bigotry that it become sick joke.

seem like if any censorship occur, hate should be first in line.

        that ok.

let not you heart be troubled.

Devin Nunes covered the embrasure of the machine gun with his own body == me

How House intel probe turned Devin Nunes into a piñata

The Beltway obsession of the moment is whether the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee will recuse himself from the investigation into ties between Trump associates and Russia and whether there was improper government surveillance. Nunes says there’s no way he is stepping aside.

At the moment, the House probe seems paralyzed. A hearing that was to be held with former top Obama administration officials, and the panel has scrapped its meetings for the week.

So, does my theory still holds water?

DA, you’re onto something. When you see an economic crash it signals the end of an “arrangement”, to use Kunstler’s terminology, that doesn’t work. An aside: I wipe my ass with official stats, government agencies being hopelessly compromised and dedicated to churning out Soviet Pravda-eque absurdity. Rather, I just assess what’s visually apparent.

You could say that the Great Depression came at the end of nonfunctioning, failed arrangements. In my view what people went through during the Dirty Thirties wasn’t for nothing in that counter-productive and dysfunctional practices came to an end.

When WW2 ended it wasn’t obvious to anyone that returning GIs weren’t coming back to the Depression. Imagine the mind-set of those young guys. Given what came in the post-war years I have to think that the Oligarchs at the time acted with a degree of enlightened self-interest, keeping in mind what Roosevelt told them: ie do something for the well-being of the American worker and give up some wealth or risk revolution and risk losing all of it.

There were, after all, competing “arrangements” at the time, communism being one and fascism another. Communism was still full of vim and vigor and fascism was as yet warm in the grave.

In contrast, what the so-called experts at the Fed and Treasury did in 2008 was to prop-up the unworkable and unsustainable. Zero interest rates? Two ways of looking at that. One is that, no matter what the Fed did, market forces would predominate. As such, zero interests rates, being market determined, are like the dangerously low blood pressure of a moribund economy. The other way of looking at it is that zero interest rates were Fed imposed, ie a desperate attempt through government intervention to save a financial order otherwise destined for the bone-yard.

In my own view ZIRP, NIRP and QE are nothing more than scraping the intellectual barrel of an economics profession empty of ideas. In sum, the remedy for too much debt being more of the same.

And what did ZIRP and NIRP and QE solve? Nothing. Tens of millions of people are no-hopers, for them it’s unemployment as far as the eye can see. And, out of the morass of “free” money and Fed conjurations come nonsense like Uber and AirBNB, glorified taxi-driving and room-letting – arrangements of last resort for people desperate for money.

The Oligarchists are clueless, bereft of any notion of how to move forward. All they see is their bottom-line. Nothing more. And what is there to compete with the status-quo-ist order? The Trump phenomenon with its as yet incomplete “America First” meditations may be an alternative given the degree of alarm and condemnation they accreted these past months. Maybe the Donor-Class is getting nervous. That in itself is cause for hope that Trump is on the right track.

Solid analysis of the hard work that The Fed, Department of The Treasury at the behest of the Oligarchs, in conjunction with their Wall Street and D.C. cronies have accomplished, certainly, since the rat bastard LBJ.

The examples of the internet’s ride-share and rooms-for-rent services as being indicative of the end of the economic line are bullseyes. But to see their estimated valuations should the go IPO you might think they are selling tulip bulbs or even Papaver somniferum derivatives.

Stop your cisgender bigotry. People are the way they are regardless of skin color or LBGTQIA identification. Based on my experiences with racists, I can’t help but suspect that most white people are color struck, to one extent or another?

I ain’t mad at em cause it is what it is…

I didn’t really understand why white people liked to dress up in “black face” until I did it to myself. I suggest all black people try it before they get mad at a white person who does it.

Its possible the “obsession” with dark skin has a biological basis centered around the fact it appears not possible for a person to make a person darker than themselves unless their partner is darker than them?

So of course white women are gonna fall for Al Jolsen singing “Mammy” to them?

Because they know it would be a miracle if they had a dark skinned baby due to the genetic mechanics.

Two black people can have an albino baby; but try as they might, two white people cannot produce a dark skinned baby; I think this “law” might be the reason white people are color struck?

Also, I think many white people see black people as a more “base” form of human, “primitive” if you will; more directly connected with nature…?

Is that why white women don’t say anything when I stare at their tits?

(hey, they put them out there? what am I supposed to do?)

There is some dispute over the color of “early man?”

Because just like many animals (including black ones) have white skin under black “fur”; its not clear WHEN humans acquired skin color?

Polar bear skin is dark if you shave them?

Also, why don’t any other mammals in Africa have hair like black people? Some of it is rather close in terms of it being light and delicate; but pretty much no other mammal is rocking the “fro?”

After all, it is possible the sun was much stronger in the past; and seeing what it can do to some white people in 15 minutes today?

I have probable cause to suspect black people hair has an evolutionary explanation?

Ive seen some camels with dreads, but thats about it?

My point is, what we see in human biodiversity is probably an example of genetic “hedging?”

Epigenetically speaking, we carry genetic information in our DNA; but there is another level of expression that decides if genes are switched on or off depending on the enviroment?

Maybe this is why so many people hate President Donald Trump?

He got straight up in your face full retard niggerish because he was being treated unfairly?

His black gene switched on and he poured that can of whup ass all over your your asses?

I like President Donald Trump precisely because so many white people hate him, and want him to fail.

Even if he gets assassinated tomorrow, he showed

          “all you suckers…”

          He shook up the world!

And look at yo hands! They White! Wasup with dat? You’re right: Blacks may be fairly new. The people of East Africa, where humanity is said to have begun, are often much lighter, in both complexion and build. So who knows? Maybe Early forms of Man was similar in complexion at least.

Saw a good looking pure or almost pure blooded Negro the other day with his wife and son. She was a sub-normal White, almost a retard. He was good looking enough to get a good looking White woman perhaps. But a normal man wants to be equal or better than his woman. If he wanted a White wife he felt comfortable with, he had to go way down.

He was kind of traditional though, almost like a Southern Black. Not ghetto at all. So actually he might not have been able to swing a good looking White chick, even for a night. Just didn’t have the right swagger and attitude.

Yes, feminine sexuality is very primitive. Blacks can score heavily against the White Man here in our grotesquely open society. All we can do for now is boycott such females. Disown them. Don’t go to such weddings, etc. Beyond the appeal of the primitive, White Women get to say fuck you to White Men by doing this. Revenge against Daddy and a big affirmation of Feminism, Political Correctness, etc. And simultaneously, they get too feel superior to the Black boyfriend who they’re most likely smarter than. This ties into maternal instincts as well. Again, most men will find this galling – perhaps leading to the well known phenomena of Blacks beating and/or killing their White girlfriends and wives.

    Attn Elrond

“Black” Comedy gold: White South African politician thought it was finally safe to say that Whites had brought some good things to Africa, namely the benefits of technology. Blacks are outraged. For decades now Liberals have taught them that Whites are unredeemable scoundrels – now you’re going to try and reverse that?! Which do you think they prefer: vague notions of equality or the slam dunk of Black moral, intellectual, and physical superiority? With any evidence to the contrary completely explained away by White racism? Her career is probably destroyed. My deepest regret is that Elrond will never get to experience the poisoned fruits of the seeds he has sown in an equally dramatic way. Nothing else has the chance of getting thru the many wooly layers of cant and self righteous foolishness to touch his dried up soul.

“But the whole episode demonstrates once more that South African blacks and whites, even if they are required to mix socially and politically, live in such different mental worlds that no amount of PC ideology could ever bring them together. Helen Zille made the mistake of thinking she could be both a liberal and more or less rational. No, the two just do not go together anymore. Either you subscribe to the whole set of Afrocentric myths—Africans would have been the first on the moon if only racist Europeans had left them to their own devices—or you find yourself in the accused’s box as a “racist.”

Soon, we will have to pity white liberals. They will be subjected to the same insults and persecutions that the rest of us have accepted as part of public life, but they lack the background to understand the problem. No doubt, Helen Zille still believes that “all people are the same,” despite having called attention to the very different cultural and scientific traditions that prevailed for centuries on the European and African continents.

Like a child wandering into a minefield, she sank deeper and deeper into the problem without understanding the essence of it. In an attempt to deflect criticism, she has now published a comparison between Singapore and South Africa on one of the most left-wing, anti-white websites in the country, the Daily Maverick. The idea that South Africa’s black population could start behaving like Singapore’s ethnic-Chinese majority is so farfetched that only a liberal like Miss Zille could think of it. South Africa’s only hope lies in restoring at least some semblance of white or Afrikaner influence.”

How original.

Syrian And Iraqi Refugees Are Half The Population Of This Swedish City
By Christopher Harress @Charress AND Viola Gad On 07/03/14 AT 6:41 PM
SODERTALJE, Sweden — What’s most remarkable about this small Swedish city is how profoundly it’s been shaped by distant civil wars.

Because of Sweden’s embrace of political refugees, Sodertalje’s proximity to Stockholm and the tendency of immigrants to congregate, fully half of the people now living in this town are refugees or immigrants from Syria and Iraq.

As a refugee named Issa, who declined to give his surname due to fears of repercussions for his family back in Syria, put it,
“The city is mostly Iraqi and Syrian immigrants, but some Swedes live here too.”

Among a population of 65,000, at least 50 percent are originally from outside of Sweden, with the vast majority from Syria or Iraq, according to Sweden’s migration board, known as Migrationservkat.

    • malthuss March 29, 2017 at 2:51 pm #

      Integration Minister Erik Ullenhag said

most Swedes are happy to continue receiving refugees,!!!!!!!!

but that municipalities have to approve government-sponsored settlement opportunities offered to them, and some have refused — putting a heavier burden on municipalities that have remained welcoming./

America founding fathers very wise indeed.

Constitutional republic enshrine Bill of Right, so even when ignorant and ill informed become vast majority, minority still enjoy Bill of Right.

biggest challenge identified by you Ben Frankiln:

“In these sentiments, Sir, I agree to this Constitution with all its faults, if they are such; because I think a general Government necessary for us, and there IS no form of Government but what may be a blessing to the people if well administered, and believe farther that this IS likely to be well administered for a course of years, and can only end in Despotism, as other forms have done before it, when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic Government, being incapable of any other.”
        – Ben Franklin, September 17, 1787.

globalist like former John D. Rockefeller and the like buy politician for benefit of globalist, not benefit of republic.

and now republic have corrupt deep state that attempt exercise central command and control.

why so much time, energy, and money spend on sexual topic and choice??

what people do for pursuit of carnal desire stay between consent adults.

why so many think sexual choice confer special privilege???

why so many think other must pay for they decision, like prisoner choosing sex change medical procedure??

does that mean other must pay for individual choice on medical procedure??

    • thwack March 29, 2017 at 5:09 pm #

please explain that “gender fluidity” thing again.

Not to cock block, but I suspect all or some part of the “gender fluidity” movement is a power move based around keeping people off balance by making people unsure of what they are dealing with?

Most people when interacting with an adult person of intentionally indeterminate sex are left in a slightly intelectually weakened and/or confused state.

This is a turn on for the trannies and gender fluids because they know how to exploit this phenomenon. And thats why this whole “movement” is a power move.

And this is why “gender fluids” will ultimately be the prefered morphology than full transition; because the ultimate goal is NOT to fool people, but to disorient and keep them off balance. You can’t do that if people think you male or female

I’ll make it easier for both you:

Please allow me to introduce myself
I’m a man of wealth and taste
I’ve been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man’s soul to waste

And I was ’round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
            Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate

            Pleased to meet you
            Hope you guess my name
            But what’s puzzling you
Is the nature of my game

            I stuck around St. Petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the czar and his ministers
            Anastasia screamed in vain

            I rode a tank
            Held a general’s rank
            When the blitzkrieg raged
            And the bodies stank

            Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
            Ah, what’s puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah
            (Woo woo, woo woo)

            I watched with glee
            While your kings and queens
            Fought for ten decades
            For the gods they made
            (Woo woo, woo woo)

            I shouted out,
            Who killed the Kennedys?
            When after all
            It was you and me
            (Who who, who who)

            Let me please introduce myself
I’m a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reached Bombay
            (Woo woo, who who)

            Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
            (Who who)
            But what’s puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby
            (Who who, who who)

            Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
            But what’s confusing you
Is just the nature of my game
            (Woo woo, who who)

Just as every cop is a criminal
            And all the sinners saints
            As heads is tails
            Just call me Lucifer
‘Cause I’m in need of some restraint
            (Who who, who who)

            So if you meet me
            Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
            (Woo woo)
            Use all your well-learned politesse
Or I’ll lay your soul to waste, mm yeah
            (Woo woo, woo woo)

            Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, mm yeah
            (Who who)
            But what’s puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, mm mean it, get down
            (Woo woo, woo woo)

            Woo, who
            Oh yeah, get on down
            Oh yeah
            Oh yeah!
            (Woo woo)

Tell me baby, what’s my name
Tell me honey, can ya guess my name
Tell me baby, what’s my name
I tell you one time, you’re to blame

            Oh, who
            Woo, woo
            Woo, who
            Woo, woo
            Woo, who, who
            Woo, who, who
            Oh, yeah

            What’s my name
Tell me, baby, what’s my name
Tell me, sweetie, what’s my name

            Woo, who, who
            Woo, who, who
            Woo, who, who
            Woo, who, who

“I’m sure Putin, being the bigger man than anyone on this side of the pond, would probably concede that much at least.” –DA

Putin is so weak he could not bear the thought of another Clinton in the White House. For all his fake machismo he was petrified of a 69 year old woman winning the election. His country lost its empire in the Cold War, it was just a drunk paper tiger with no real armed forces. That failure is Putin’s failure, and he seeks to revive the USSR through propaganda wars.

Putin is a killer. Does that make him “a bigger man”? The list of bodies of Putin opponents is piling up. Here are 10 deaths.

I love Germany so much that I want to be many of them!

There are now so many events in a unit of time that even if to comment on the most important of them, I still do not have the time and energy.

For example, now the most important event for Russia takes place in the Washington – a press conference, which appeared in my news line under the headline “Deep State is trying to overthrow legally elected US government”:

In combination with the refusal of the handshake, the bill for 300 million Pounds Sterling, which Donald Trump handed to Angela Merkel, is not a bill for the financing of NATO, but a bill for the support of Hillary Clinton.

This, so to speak, is the bill for reparation for hostile actions against the people of the United States.

The bill for NATO will also come, but later, if Angela Merkel has enough brains to pay $374 billion without asking questions about the German gold handed over to the US for storage. But if she does not pay, then nobody will talk about NATO with her, since NATO will turn up to be really not against Russia and it will not only be about reparations, but also indemnities.

By the way, pay attention to the currency in which this debt is nominated, and compare it with the presentation of the official notification of the European Commission about the beginning of the Brexit procedure.

Saudi Arabia to prepare – the legal basis for a large carve-up is already fixed. I think that the Saudi princes will soon envy Gaddafi and Ambassador Stevens.

Definitive evidence of Trump’s collusion with Russia in this 20 second YouTube video:

From his own mouth, Trump urges Russia to hack Clinton’s email

  120. janet March 29, 2017 at 8:21 pm #

“Vladimir knew that (Russian President Vladimir) Putin is a killer. And he’s a killer. And he might very well be the next target. Vladimir knew there was no moral equivalence between the United States and Putin’s Russia,” said McCain, who’s long been a fierce critic of Trump’s rhetoric about Russia.

“I repeat,” he continued, veering away from his prepared remarks and hitting the wooden lectern to underscore his point. “There is no moral equivalence between that butcher and thug and KGB colonel and the United States of America, the country that Ronald Reagan used to call a shining city on a hill. And to allege some kind of moral equivalence between the two is either terribly misinformed or incredibly biased. Neither can be accurate in any way.”

McCain listed a number of other Putin critics and journalists who’ve allegedly been killed by the Russian government.

While he didn’t mention Trump by name, his comments came just days after Trump appeared to argue in an interview with Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly that the United States had killed people in the same manner as Russia.

“Putin’s a killer,” O’Reilly said in the interview.

“We’ve got a lot of killers,” Trump said. “You think our country’s so innocent?”

When O’Reilly pushed back, saying he doesn’t know any US government leaders who are killers, Trump cited the Iraq War and said “we’ve made a lot of mistakes.”

“A lot of mistakes — OK — but a lot of people were killed,” Trump said. “So a lot of killers around, believe me.”

This post is dedicated to my first car in the United States

Bensonhurst is an Italian district in Brooklyn, which, unlike Little Italy in Manhattan, really looks like real Italy, where a friend of mine lived for six months.

And in Bensonhurst, he lived a year, when he worked in a limousine service in Greenwich Village. And this is a very strange time in his life – amazingly beautiful women pestered him terribly, and he was so depressed that could not answer their feelings at all.

It seemed to him that they were mocking him, and all this is very much in harmony with this song and this performer.

And then he had a mistress of high society, and believed in the sincerity of her feelings!

And the car was stolen, driven back to a nearby street and dismantled for spare parts, so it did not make sense to restore it (Italians are terrible thieves – steal everything that is not nailed down).

And he went to live with her in Manhattan, fool!

“A nation of well-informed men…” –Ben Franklin via hunglo

Before 1974 women were not allowed to apply for credit without a well-informed man’s signature.

Until the Pregnancy Discrimination Act in 1978, women could be fired from their workplace for being pregnant.

Women could not run in the Boston Marathon until 1972.

It wasn’t until the 2012 London Olympics that women could compete in boxing in the Olympics.

It looks like you believe women in boxing is a victory for women when actually, it’s financial enhancer for boxing, a sport on the financial decline of late. (Never underestimate the general public’s willingness to indulge the “freak show”.)

But women in combative sports is a done deal. In MMA women fighters are extremely popular for reasons that personally escape me. I suppose at the end of the day, there is no shortage of men willing to pay money in order to watch women descend into the undignified and make fools of themselves.

“American Male” will pay for cage matches, mud wrestling, hair pulling, feminine nose bleeds and tooth loss. But what he won’t abide is “American Woman” screeching with a hoarse voice from the political podium.

Take Elizabeth Warren for example. Great on many progressive issues but when it comes to the political speech, her voice, which many mistakenly believe is a reflection of the mind, often inflects hysteria and the notion of a shaky hand.

In America, the Baritone and Bass bring home the political bacon.

The Soprano, well she can go roll around in the mud and blood domain of formerly all-male sports if she wishes while “American Man” cheers, swigs beer and pounds the mat as “American Woman” chokes her fellow Sister out.

      Some progress, eh Janet?

Local officials and eyewitnesses say as many as 240 people may have been killed in the Al-Jadida district when a huge blast caused a building to collapse, burying families inside.

When asked in a congressional hearing about the standards used by the U.S. military to avoid civilian casualties, General Joseph Votel said it would be difficult to apply those standards in the narrow, crowded streets of the Old City in west Mosul.

Trump is continuing Obama’s foreign policy. Trump’s continued war crimes in Iraq will create hatred, and loss of American life through revenge attacks.

Juan Cole, at his “informed” comment blog has been busy complaining about Trump:

Trump wants the Environmental Protection Agency to declare that carbon dioxide is not a dangerous greenhouse gas, and to stop threatening polluting coal plants. And you might despair about that until your realize that what he’d really like is to abolish the EPA entirely.

Trump is authorizing oil pipelines like crazy and you might despair about that until you realize that he wants to use hydraulic fracturing to fill them with oil, visiting enormous environmental degradation on a wide swathe of America.
Sorry Juan. The difference between Trump and your Democrat champions like Obama is so marginal as to not matter.

Remember, it was Obama who appointed former Iowa governor Tom Vilsack as Secretary of Agriculture, This is the governor who accepted an award from Monsanto during his tenure. Obama would have been hard-pressed to make a worse choice.

And the overall trajectory of our country in terms of lifestyle–drive everywhere and destroy as much land as possible with “development”–did not slow down under Obama. The good Democrat never even tried to make us aware that building more automobile infrastructure ought to be an issue for debate.

Hyperventilate all you want, Juan. You’re not going to convince me that Trump is the end of the world.

Trump was the end of the world for 200 civilians in Mosul this week. Do you know any of their names? Does any American care about the death of Hashem Fares, journalist? Abdullah Ghazi, farmer? Abdul Rahman, son of Ammar Mumtaz Abdullah and Lina Al-Anaz? Or any of the 200 civilians who are dead thanks to Trump’s order to continue air attacks on Mosul?

The annual total for civilian deaths in Iraq in 2016 was 16,393. To what end? What is gained by killing civilians? Trump, like Bush and Obama before him, is a war criminal. That is not in the DNC talking points, I assure you.

A federal judge in Hawaii ruled Wednesday night to extend his previous order blocking President Donald Trump’s revised travel ban.

Hours after hearing arguments from both sides, U.S. District Judge Derrick Watson sided with the state of Hawaii Wednesday and granted a motion turning the original temporary restraining order against Trump’s ban into a nationwide preliminary injunction, as requested by Hawaii’s Department of the Attorney General on March 21.

The preliminary injunction will stay in effect as long as Hawaii’s lawsuit against the Trump administration is being resolved.

Judges at certain levels are products of patronage. A judge is nothing more than a lawyer (or fucking lawyer, if you will) with political pull. In a perfect world, a judge would be honest, intelligent, well versed in the law, and objective. In the real world, of course, they can be all or none of the above.

Judges, in our current balkanized society, are being “shopped”. Some very liberal, some very conservative. Pick a venue depending upon your desired outcome. They have become a commodity, not unlike psychologists, that can be hired to support any side of an argument…just like…lawyers.

There must be checks and balances…but the system, as it currently stands, is unworkable. As it stands, a piss-ant judge at the District level can tie up the Executive branch for months with rulings that are politically motivated, and not necessarily judicially valid.

Russia as the source of America’s discontent? Laughable.

No, this Russia nonsense is a distraction from what ails America. No matter the dark muttering about “ties” and “links”, Russia hasn’t got the reach, it hasn’t got the influence, the FBI “investigation” a farcical and obvious attempt to undermine the legitimacy of Trump’s victory.

This idiocy has been going on since July 2016 so have they got anything or not? After all this time it looks like the answer is “not”. So it’s time to put up or shut up because time’s a wastin’, the nation’s business won’t wait. And no matter if you agree with the agenda or not, Trump won. Too bad but he got the prize.

So here’s the do-list depending on who in the governing party you talk to: industries to re-build, armies to re-arm, terrorists to kill, walls to construct, illegals to boot out, bad guys to hang, abortuaries to shut down, degenerates to shame, taxes to cut, rich people to enrich, poor people to impoverish, a health care fuck-up to fuck up even worse. And it’s way past time to collar the leaker(s) in the Flynn affair. Another blown deadline, something that should have been easy-peasy to nail down.

Tell me, what does Hillary’s wiping of 30,000 emails smell like to you? Did you say “obstruction”? Yes, yes, we all know, the FBI “investigated” Hillary. And that investigation was just as ridiculous if not more so, a going-through-the-motions cover-up for the most heinous criminal negligence and dereliction. But no matter the sewage ponds of evidence of gag-inducing malfeasance, Comey insisted that there’s nothing to do. Case closed.

This is multiple organ failure in the American body politic, a brazen, multi-level malpractice of the sort that you’d see in a crony-kleptocracy.

Russia is not America’s adversary. It may not be a friend, but an enemy? No, sorry, I just can’t get there. If you want to look for adversaries, look to China. Or maybe this is what they want to distract from, the fact that for a generation, the money-might of America’s plutocrats was spent in building up China, who most manifestly is NOT our friend. And if that wasn’t a betrayal, a selling out of American workers and their families, and out-and-out treason, then what exactly is it?

The protests in Russia of school kids against Medvedev may have been a Trump’s operation against the Western Black Project in Russia, in full accordance with the theory of Michael Khazin, who in summer predicted the cleansing of Hillary Clinton’s supporters in Russia by Trump.

Personally, I am an opponent of this theory, since every people must free themselves from the power of the Black Project. Freedom can not be a gift. But we must admit that the Khazin theory is becoming more and more confirmed.

The thing is that the conflict between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton is a surface part of the iceberg of the conflict between the two groups in the US, the most vivid manifestation of which until recently was the Watergate scandal.

Now the ideological nature of this conflict is articulated by the dispute between two publishers – the Nixon Center publishing the magazine “National Interest” and the magazine “Foreign Policy”, created by the Washington Post and the Cold War ideologue Huntington, thanks to the victory of Hillary Clinton over Richard Nixon during the Watergate scandal.

Naturally, the first edition supports Donald Trump, and the second one supports Bastinda, the Great and Terrible.

And now the “National Interest” publishes an article “Putin Could Use ‘Anticorruption’ Protests to His Advantage”, and “Foreign Policy” calls its article about Medvedev “The Most Hated Man in Russia”

The point is not how adequately this event is covered by these publications, but in the fact that the bias from reality shows the position that these publications and the Colored Projects that stand behind them take in relation to Russia.

Roughly speaking, these articles characterize these publications, and not the subject of discussion – P.M. Medvedev.

I challenge janet to explain where Fred is wrong regarding ‘diversity.’ –Q

Fred says: Liberals posit the equality of groups that are not equal

Liberals posit no such thing. Liberals do not say all groups are equal. The whole thrust of the civil rights movement was that all groups SHOULD HAVE EQUAL ACCESS to housing, education, employment, credit, etc.

It is about equal opportunity, not saying everyone is the same. We aren’t the same. We are diverse. But we have equal rights under the law.

Maybe not everyone wants to live in the suburbs. Maybe not everyone wants to go to university. Fine. But it should be their free choice.

But there should be equal treatment of all groups and respect for their choices … instead of discrimination, redlining, school to prison pipeline, stop and frisk profiling, assassination of unarmed people by police, jim crow segregation, racist refusal of service, etc. … for people with Black skin.

That was just Fred’s first sentence. His whole essay is based on a false and bigoted supposition about liberals.

    • DA March 30, 2017 at 10:22 pm #

You do have a point there Janet. Fred (who I’ve read on and off again for quite some time) is a man who enjoys the last spoils of capitalist privilege, while eschewing any of the blame. Like most of us, Fred’s mostly confused. He foolishly imagines that most of his privilege is due to “he and his,” which it is in a sense, while also foolishly imagining that “his” had made any provisions for “him” in their plans for he future.

Fred’s a true “dyed-in-the-wool” late stage American capitalist who gets to enjoy all the benefits of global imperialist empire just before he dies and says “fuck you very much” to everyone who comes behind him. Rest assured, there’s A WHOLE SLEW of Fred’s coming through the pipeline as we speak.

But the fact that he values race mixing and diversity is neither here nor there, except as an internet “diversity card” to play by the likes of you. I mean really now, the “white men of means who opportunistically take on minority women as lovers in their old age” is a well-explored and cliched literary trope at this point, so what EXACTLY is your point?

How about the ENTIRELY more likely explanation that Fred’s just another tired old lazy capitalist, entirely representative of his generation, who simply didn’t want to put up with another (typically American) woman bitching at him all of the time, and live out his life in peace? So he chose to abscond to old Mexico and live out his life in the land of low tax rates and costs for essentials. Sounds like a pretty smart plan to me.

And by the way – don’t take this TOO personally – I sincerely hope that you’re gay, trans or whatever, because ain’t NO MAN who’s actually carrying weight between his legs EVER going to put up with the likes of you. But good luck with your agenda anyway. I’m just glad I won’t be around to see most of it enacted. Cheers!

<i@janetbot enjoy import of radical Muslim…..then she learn what like to be treat lower than dog. — onehunglo

hunlo, women, at the beginning of Islam, were leading armies and making political decisions. A few centuries later they were expected to sit separately from men in mosques and in prayer ceremonies.

A similar situation also obtained in non-Islamic countries. For example a century ago, when the World Anti-Slavery Association met in England, the women delegates were refused seats. They had to sit silently behind the curtain in the balcony.

That, of course, led to Seneca Falls Convention that eventually gained a few rights for women such as becoming able to sell properties, the right to education, and the like.

The Prophet instructed that women have the right to own property, to choose their own partners, and have equal rights to education. In accordance with prevailing culture, these rights became transformed into the duties of women to take care of children and remain in the house. This is not all that different than a century ago in America where women were expected the duties of “Republican Motherhood,” which did not take them beyond the household sphere.

To justify the prejudice held against women, we can blame a religion, we can blame a culture, we can blame a system, and we can even blame women themselves. Yet these superficial “making you feel better” justifications will not remove the responsibility from generations of humanity. While it is true that the media misleads people, political leaders mislead people, and superficial ideology misleads people — yet people remain in a state of being misled. The guilt of the oppressor is not lesser that the guilt of the oppressed, said the Prophet.

Islam is a religion where your temple is not a building but your heart; your preacher is not a priest but your intellect; and if your religion is founded upon mere imitation, you are a blasphemer. In Islam, ignorance is an unforgivable sin, so is your evasion of responsibility for yourself as well as towards all the members of the living world, past and present. It is incorrect to blame such Islam for the shortcomings of its followers, which are the failings of most of mankind. A religion that is centered on the rights of human being, and sets both men and women free from the chains of bondage should not be used in propaganda for the sake of condemnation.

It is not Muslim women as such, but women everywhere who have been imprisoned by prejudice and cruelty. This form of prejudice that goes beyond simple racial or national boundaries, is sexual in nature. Whether women are constantly being held to an impossible standard, or subject to discrimination solely based on the fact that they are not equal to men, they are, by far, the group most affected by this form of prejudice. Depending on the society women may be seen as having the wrong weight, the wrong height, the wrong level of intelligence, or the wrong religion. We can conclude that women have yet to be welcomed with open arms in many countries.

DOJ offers immunity to Flynn to testify against someone higher up the food chain. They only do that when they’ve got a case and need a knowledgeable witness to testify. Who is higher up the food chain from the NSA? There is only one person and he is likely to soon be impeached, convicted, and removed from office.

Flynn was there for the phone calls, there in the meetings, there in the highest classified briefings. It will be hard for 45 to put any distance between himself and Flynn. Conspiring with a foreign power is a major felony under the Espionage Act. As is kidnapping and Flynn was talking about that with Turkish officials, at the same time he was with Trump… but not registered as a foreign agent.

If they don’t get 45 for his crimes, they will get him for his cover ups. And now they have the key knowledgeable witness they need to nail it down tight.

  148. janet March 31, 2017 at 4:27 am #

    Two big questions:

    1) How is DOJ going to handle Flynn in exchange for his testimony?

    2) What were White House officials doing reading raw FBI intercepts that involved Trump administration officials? What were they doing monitoring what the FBI was listening in on?

The White House appears to be monitoring the FBI investigation of the White House… and then got caught selectively leaking information to Nunes.

The Donald got some ‘splainin’ to do. The Donald is going down… for high crimes and misdemeanors.

There is now a menu of scandals to choose from. Like Romney had a binder full of women, Trump now has a binder full of scandals. Carl Icahn could go to jail for quid pro quo, Scott Pruitt could lose his law license for lying to congress, Arkansas planning mass murder, Trump approved raid over dinner at Mar Lago, over 200 men, women, and children dead after being told by US forces to stay in their homes and then being bombed by US forces in their homes, etc.

The Trump presidency is the product of a crime, a coordinated effort between Trump and a Russian campaign to subvert the will of the majority of voters (by almost 3 million popular votes) resulting in massive corruption and scandals.

Janet, lets not go crazy now…?

You were doing so well after reducing “Fred” to ashes; don’t ruin it by attempting to discredit Trump with hysterical butthurt and false charges to compensate for Hillary’s shitty election campaign and well deserved loss.

How many times are you gonna die on that hill?

      Please stop.

      Its bad for the movement.

Since the story of what exactly happened in the last 2 days of the year 2016 could soon become the national headlines, I urge all readers of that blog who have some Russian-speaking friends to have them listen to the interview of official speaker of Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova:

Moreover, I urge the host of this blog who has a prominent Russian-speaking friend to have him transcribe that interview into English.

Here are some excerpts from the interview:

What was the essence of this combination, an absolutely hellish combination?

On December 29 they (US Administration) declares the expulsion of Russian diplomats who are given 72 hours to leave the United States and 72 hours later their diplomatic immunity is stripped, their visas revoked and they become illegal.

This is announced on the 29th of December, and as we all clearly understand December 30 and 31 are days for which air tickets are bought 2 o 3 months in advance and certainly not for 107 people – including family members or 35 diplomats, tickets simply impossible to get.

Why are they doing this? When do the 72 hours end?

72 hours end on January 1 and it would seem to a person not in a know that on January 1 they could leave. But the administration knew full well that on January 1, no direct flights from Washington to Moscow. The first direct flight is only on 2 January.

And their visas expire on the first. That is, if on January 2 these people would come to the airport, they would simply be arrested, and the fact that they would have been arrested I have no doubt.

So, General Flynn most likely was in communication with the Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak regarding avoiding an international conflict that could have lead to a nuclear war and arrange for evacuation of the diplomats.

I think that Trump was aware of the situation, but asked Flynn not to tell VP Pence.

General Flynn acted as a noble American officer and a true American patriot.

Unfortunately, technically speaking he was in violation of the Logan Act of 1799, and could be taken an advantage of by bunch of Flying Monkeys-Lawyers and unscrupulous Media, unless the situation is taken to its logical conclusion and the fact that US were illegally ruled by unelected Junta since June 10, 2016 would be made public.
