The military frolics of spring have distracted the nation’s attention from the economic and financial dynamics that pose the ultimate mortal threat to business as usual. Note the distinction between economic and financial. The first represents real activity in this Land of the Deal: people doing and making. The second, finance, used to be a minor branch — only about five percent — of all the doing in the days of America’s putative bigliest greatitude. The task of finance then was limited and straightforward: to manage the allocation of capital for more doing and making. The profit in that enabled bankers to drive Cadillacs instead of Chevrolets, but not much more.

These days, finance is closer to 40 percent of all the doing in America, and it is not about making anything, but getting more than its share of “money” — whatever that is now — and what “money” mostly is is whatever the people engaged in finance say it is, for instance, Fannie Mae bonds representing millions of sketchy loans for houses of vinyl and strand-board built in places with no future… or stock issued by the Tesla corporation… or the sovereign IOUs of the US Treasury.

The list of things that pretend to be “money” these days would be long and shocking and the sheer churn of these instruments among the banks and markets “produces” the fabled “revenue streams” beloved of The Wall Street Journal. What happens when the world discovers that these instruments (securities and their derivatives) represent falsely? Why, bigly trouble.

And this is the season we’re moving into as the dogwoods blaze: the season of the re-discovery of actual value. For those of you gloating over last week’s demonstrations of US Big Stick-ism, be warned that our military shenanigans have given China and Russia every reason to discipline this country by undermining the international standing of the dollar. They’ve been preparing for this very deliberately for years: constructing an alternative to the US-sponsored SWIFT international payment system, stockpiling thousands of tons of gold, building trade partnerships to circumvent US dominated syndicates. Before the month of April is out, they’ll “pull the trigger” on new voting arrangements in the International Monetary Fund that will reduce the financial power of the US and the Eurozone, especially in the oil trade.

Around the same moment, America will wake up to the awful reality of the debt ceiling. This petard has been ticking the whole time that the political bureaucracy of Washington has wasted its mojo on the quixotic crusade to blame Russia for the 2016 election outcome. Congress will return from the Easter recess to discover that they have a few mere days to debate and resolve the debt ceiling problem — that is, to raise it so the country can borrow more “money” — or else they’ll be faced with a shut-down of government operations, including their own generous emoluments. It’s a good thing (for them) that they have plenty of walking-around money from the mysterious perqs of government service, but the rest of America doesn’t have $500 to pay for a new set of tires or the extraction of an abscessed molar.

Some readers may have long wondered what might happen in this country if the SNAP card refills and social security checks stopped coming. Perhaps we’re about to find out. Congress might find itself in a painfully tight spot. The Democrats would like nothing better than to let this drag on for a while in order to humiliate, and perhaps finish off, their arch-nemesis, the Golden Golem of Greatness. Many Republicans have a religious-strength ideological aversion to increasing the already appalling US debt load. The prospects are not bright for a quick-and-easy resolution to this quandary.

The IMF voting re-set and the debt ceiling quagmire have the power to disrupt many of the arrangements that allow the banks and markets to continue pretending that their stuff has value. When that consensus trance snaps, President Trump may find himself in the unhappy position of having to declare a bank holiday. Unlike the usual holidays in America, there will no Easter Bunny, no Jack-o-lanterns, no Santa Claus. Just empty supermarket shelves and pissed-off people marshaling in the WalMart parking lots with flaming brands and espontoons.

MIT expert claims latest chemical weapons attack in Syria was staged
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/mit-expert-claims-latest-chemical-100819428.html

    From the article:

Theodore Postol, a professor emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), issued a series of three reports in response to the White House’s finding that Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad perpetrated the attack on 4 April.

He concluded that the US government’s report does not provide any “concrete” evidence that Assad was responsible, adding it was more likely that the attack was perpetrated by players on the ground.

Postol said: “I have reviewed the [White House’s] document carefully, and I believe it can be shown, without doubt, that the document does not provide any evidence whatsoever that the US government has concrete knowledge that the government of Syria was the source of the chemical attack in Khan Sheikhoun, Syria at roughly 6am to 7am on 4 April, 2017.

Postol, formerly a scientific advisor at the Department of Defense (DoD), has previously outlined similar inconsistencies with US intelligence reports. Following the 2013 chemical weapons attack in eastern Ghouta, Postol again said the evidence did not suggest Assad was responsible – a finding that was later corroborated by the United Nations.

    —–

Can’t say I’m surprised. I’m sure you aren’t either Jim. I was a little surprised by just how gung ho everyone in the MSM and FedGov got after the attack. No need to investigate. We will just make a report that says we know Assad did it and then bombs away.

I know that a lot of people believe Donald Trump was manipulated by the images of dead children, but Rex Tillerson is also claiming that there is actual evidence that Assad did this. I don’t know too much about Secretary Tillerson, but he just doesn’t strike me as someone that easily bamboozled by emotion.
I could easily believe that the attack was staged. It’s the people other than Donald Trump who are saying it wasn’t, that puzzle me.

      • lsjogren April 17, 2017 at 10:40 am #

I think unfortunately the fairminded person today has no choice but to conclude “I don’t know” with regard to a lot of things going on politically and geopolitically.

Did Assad use the chemical weapons? Allegedly it came from his military base and thus who else could it have been.

On the other hand, it makes no sense strategically for him to do it, and there are obvious motives for his enemies to be eager to stage such an incident.

        So I don’t know.

Same thing true in a lot of domestic politics. Are there Deep Staters who seek to perpetuate the insane policies of the Bush/Obama regime? No doubt. When something that looks fishy goes on, were the Deep Staters behind it?

The answer is generally “I don’t know”.

        • thwack April 17, 2017 at 2:17 pm #

The answer is generally “I don’t know”

          ***********************

          No,

          No,

its not the ANSWER, its the QUESTION thats important.

          And the question is:

“What are the results of the INQUIRY?”

          Whats that?

You didn’t carry out an INQUIRY?

Well then WTF are you doing holding an INVESTIGATION?

          See how they trick you?

This comes from dealing with white people a lot; especially in the work place. White people will go directly from a problem, to BLAMING a black person; without ever doing a basic inquiry to find out what exactly occurred.

In my case, yeah, I did something incorrectly, but my actions were based on incorrect information I got from a white person.

          And,

          and,

if that white person gave me incorrect information willfully and intentionally, Im not charging him with with attacking me; Im charging him with attacking the company; just like a terrorist would do.

So in the case of this chemical weapons attack in Syria, there must first be an inquiry (what happened?) BEFORE an investigation (who to blame?)

          • Janos Skorenzy April 17, 2017 at 4:58 pm #

Blacks always cry race since it’s a magic word to make Whites do what they say. And since almost all Blacks are liars – always believe the White when it’s he said, she said.

          • elysianfield April 17, 2017 at 6:47 pm #

            Thwack,
The investigation begins IMMEDIATELY…inquires come later…

Let me explain this in a context you will recognize and understand…

There was a crime…Thwack was seen at the scene…
An investigation determined that Thwack did the dirty deed….
Thwack is arrested (or beaten and arrested, according to Thwack)….
An inquiry in the form of a Grand Jury indicts Thwack..the inquiry further finds that Thwack lied about being beaten…officers exonerated.

And Thwack receives mucho hard time.

          • windward April 18, 2017 at 1:07 am #

Thwack, just don’t pay no attention to these fools. Someday a cop will beat them up for no good reason. Sooner the better.

            ********************

Hey, its even better than that. Not only did I get a promotion out of almost being fired; but once the INQUIRY reveal I was given incorrect information by a white person; they tried to blame the whole thing on another white person; WHO WAS NOT PRESENT TO DEFEND HIMSELF.

So yeah, the situation got real tacky after that because these white people rarely talked to me, and when they did, it was always about the job and nothing else.

And that was great because I had engineer an arrangement where white people were either making true statements, or shutting the fuck up.

Thats as good as it gets.

  2. Walter B April 17, 2017 at 9:43 am #

The business of finance (40% as you point out) is a business of deceit, lies, and fraud. It cannot go on indefinitely and has surely reached the end of its rope. Even if the government cuts Social Security in half rather than simply not paying it, those younger folk that will surely believe that this will not affect them, will quickly realize that they are so damned wrong and in even worse shape because of it. How many millions of retired people rely on these payments to buy things at the fast food joints and buffets around the country where the kiddies work? Social Security is indeed the glue that holds the anemic economy together and when the glue fails, that which is held together by it falls apart.

    • windward April 20, 2017 at 9:16 pm #

Good post Walter B, but just so people don’t forget, Social Security is not a government welfare program. It is not paid from the general revenue. It is self-funded. It has no effect on the deficit. By law it cannot.

Yes, the government must now begin to borrow money to pay back the funds that Social Security lent it. And yes, that affects the deficit. But that is not the fault of Social Security. It is the fault of tax cuts for the rich and their even worse effects on government finances. For instance, to satisfy the ever-increasing greed of the rich and powerful elements of our society, which was whetted by those tax cuts, much of our manufacturing plant was transferred to foreign nations. Enormous short term gain for the rich parasites, catastrophe for the rest of us.

If these parasites hadn’t been getting those outrageous tax cuts thanks to Reagan and Bush 2 and the enormous cult of Republican greed, we would not have these enormous deficits and a national debt that can never be repaid under any political condition that is likely to prevail

If the government cuts Social Security payments by some devious and illegal means, that would be no different from cutting payments on the interest or principle of any debt the government legally contracted. Such as the money it borrowed from your pension fund. Or the money it borrowed from China. Trump says ‘America First.’ Let’s see if he stiffs China before he tries to cheat our own senior citizens.

      • Walter B April 21, 2017 at 12:24 am #

Yes windward my friend Social Security was an investment we made in the US government who promised us that while WE could not be trusted to plan for our own old age, THEY could. So they forced us into a system where they took our money and then pissed it away. I suppose that is what sellout, scumbag politicians do isn’t it? Force us to pay, steal the money and run away? How has it all not collapsed already is what I want to know? What magical power keeps the Beast alive? It defies all of the rules of math and of finance. Perhaps we have ventured into some strange reality where there IS no reality and everything just happens because that is what it does. Nothing makes sense anymore but I suppose that is the nature of Chaos isn’t it?

A similar event happened at a carnival at Saint Anthony’s church in Schenectady, in 2008.
      https://dailygazette.com/article/2008/06/25/0625_festabrawl
The article is somewhat inaccurate, as the carnival rides were part of the festival, not “near” the celebration. Also, I believe June 25 was a Wednesday that year, the riot broke out on a Friday night and wasn’t reported until midweek, after a newspaper columnist who’d been in attendance mentioned it in his column.
There was no shooting, probably because there was a police officer there too, who acted quickly to contain the brawl.
The carnival rides at the feast are no more. It’s too bad, any sort of attraction meant to include youth in the social fabric of the larger community, if part of that community is a black sub-culture, always ends up in violence and destruction.
I know a good number of white Americans who voted that year for a black president, specifically to end these kinds of situations, but all he did was put the blame back on them. Nice.
I think Obama influenced Dylann Roof with his ‘rhetoric’, btw.

The tourist areas of Lake George (which is visually idyllic as you note) are not known for junkies and homeless people. Though the general area is a pipleine for heroin trafficking, given the proximity to the major north/south traffic route of I-87 (known as the Northway to locals) between NYC and Canada. Nearby towns such as Rutland, VT are rife with addicts who have no options for employment or otherwise bettering their lives. This situation is endemic to rural areas across the country that have lost entire economies.

Yeah, White Americans got it all wrong: rioting is an expression of Black power, not powerlessness. When they had no power, they imitated us and behaved themselves for the most part – or else. They can never fit it, being far too alien. So rationally, they are kept subordinate or sent out as Jefferson, Lincoln, et al desired.

We chose to do neither – the path of destruction. Blacks must overthrow us or die trying. To do otherwise is to deny themselves and be Uncle Toms, Alan Keys, or Dr Ben Carsons.

I didn’t know about a move to change IMF voting rights. That would certainly move the dial. But the politicians will find a way to finesse the debt ceiling again. That will not resolve the dilemma of liquidity in the global financial system. In fact, allowing more debt to be issued will worsen that problem.

    • SteveO April 17, 2017 at 3:44 pm #

“But the politicians will find a way to finesse the debt ceiling again.”

I agree. The politicians’ real constituents – the moneyed elites, have too much at stake to end business as usual. There will be a public dance, with the debt peacocks displaying their plumage and lots of hand wringing by commentators on TV. The freedom caucus will do the one thing they know how to do, say “no”. The Democrats will refuse to go along with any Republican in the beginning. But by midnight on the debt default day, they will cut a deal and BAU will continue for a little longer.

  7. Bro Jobe April 17, 2017 at 10:36 am #

Like you, I blame much of our currently looming disaster on Finance.

The belief that money and debt are merely notional helped get us 17–no, 19–trillion in the hole. That hole is deep enough to bury us, because China may find it can soon get along just fine with the US in civil war or economic collapse.

Bank holiday? El Cheeto might well try that, but there will be riots of the ATMs stop producing cash and the online banking system get furloughed for a few days.

    • Bro Jobe April 17, 2017 at 10:37 am #

    • Billy Hill April 17, 2017 at 10:52 am #

Speaking of espontoons, there is a photograph of the US Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps accessible via the Wikileaks entry showing an African-American drum major holding a ceremonial espontoon. Is this unconscious homage to Crispus Attucks? We learn also that the Lewis and Clark expedition stipulated espontoons – which we infer proved their worth in bear country.

The Revolution? The glorious “opening” of the new continent? Language works in mysterious ways.

Thus far the money masters’ ability to keep the majority of people caught up in their illusions have far, far exceeded the due dates and prognostications of the sound money crowd. Sure, the edges are crumbling at an ever increasing rate and the public discourse has become an absurd joke, yet the money hustle continues.

I agree that it sure looks like this state of affairs is taking on water quicker than the pumps can get it out. But it has appeared that way to me, and many others, for many years. I have reached the point of exhaustion waiting for something, anything, drastic to happen, and still I wait. The best I can do now is not be surprised by any of this crap anymore. I expect our “leaders” to make the most incompetent decision possible all the while the repercussions of their incompetence always kicks someone else’s ass. Such is the new reality.

The biggest part of the deception is the lingo, like calling cannabis marijuana, pot, dope, grass etc. The plant is called cannabis and hemp. There is no national debt. Debt implies we borrowed it. The US Treasury issues a bond. The Federal reserve buys that bond with money created out of thin air. That money gets tacked onto the national debt and enters the money supply. It is called debt monetization. By default, the national debt IS the money supply, so it is specious to suggest we can pay it back. The debt ceiling is also factually dishonest. There can be no ceiling, because that will end growth. The bigger the economy gets, the more money you need to go around. What is required is an overthrow of the Venetian Banking/War/Religion financial model. To do that people have to realize we don’t need banks. Get rid of the banks and you get rid of war. Get rid of religion and you get rid of war. You’re never going to end war, you’re going to end the things war flows from, banks and religion, which used to be welded together visibly in ancient times, but now have their complicity hidden.

You make some interesting points about debt, seawolf.
I disagree about religion causing wars. In my view, men cause wars. There are a sizable number of men who like to fight, and don’t really need a reason. We don’t know how men behaved in the world in the absence of religion, if there was ever such a time, but my guess is they weren’t less violent.
I’m thinking about the story of Christ in the temple, throwing things around and kicking out the money lenders. Wasn’t he killed shortly afterward, for rousing the rabble or something like that?

Having influence with common people was a threat to the priesthood. As Ciaphas unknowingly prophesied it was better for one man to die for the nation than for the nation to be lost. Their POV rested on their own job security, very little else.

seawolf77, I’m always telling anyone who will listen that money is a figment of mans imagination. Its just a way to control the populace that granted, must be under some sort of control, rule of law, etc. Since money is a fictional construct then the debt ceiling is too. The whole world is mad and I’m almost to the point that I don’t give a shit anymore. I’ll just sit back and wait for the STHF. Economics, politics, religion. I’m calling bullshit on all of it.

You are correct SW77 regarding the Fed and debt. Sovereign countries which control their own currencies can never go bankrupt.
Mr. Kunstler is also correct to focus on the reserve status of the US Dollar. That is the weakest part of the US empire. When the dollar loses reserve currency status, every import becomes instantly more expensive and eventually, no exporter will accept the dollar for payment. They will accept hard assets, other strong national currencies and the new reserve currency which will probably be a blend of IMF special drawing rights, combined with the Chinese Yuan and Gold. When this happens, the value of the dollar will drop somewhere between 30% and 50%. Inflationary Depression, anyone?

“You are correct SW77 regarding the Fed and debt. Sovereign countries which control their own currencies can never go bankrupt.”

The above statement is dead wrong. A currency devalued by a sovereign country can and has, numerous times in history been debased and become almost worthless. The perception of soundness must exist for other countries to accept the in-question currency at a reasonable rate. Only by having a bench mark currency, as does the US, can unlimited printing be viable, and only for a short time.

Well said. Even the Gold Bugs and Constitutionalists get it wrong: money is “currency”, a medium of human exchange. It doesn’t have to be a “thing” like gold or silver. That just opens the door for the Bankers to hoard and control. And since no one even looks anymore, the Vault at Fort Knox may be as empty as the Inner Sanctum of the Old Temple in Jerusalem.

Germany had no gold – it was all looted as per the Treaty of Versailles. That didn’t prevent the Nazi Economic Miracle. The human capital was still there – and what they didn’t have they could barter for with other countries. The Bankers were cut out. Obviously that couldn’t be allowed to continue or other countries would have opted for the same system.

So the German Government simply created its own currency based on its own authority – not Lucre or Mammon. On Germany if you will. The American Indians used sea shells as a medium of exchange. Prisoners use cigarettes.

      • Billy Hill April 17, 2017 at 3:43 pm #

Indeed, Ann Barnhardt points out that all currency is “fiat.” Or, put another way, “because I said so. And I have a badge and a gun.” Martin Armstrong has often cited the examples of Japan and Germany post-WW2: piles of rubble, no gold. The energy and talent of the populations accounts for their wealth today.

And yet… as Rickards points out, the central banking establishment despite bad-mouthing gold continues to hold it. Ft. Knox may very well be empty but per Bix Weir and others there is vast “deep storage” (in the earth) gold on the books guarded by the US military. The Chinese and Russians are reported to be large buyers.

Sure, all money is magic but sovereign paper comes and goes on the political tides while gold is, has been, and will be money. It was only in 1971 that the US went off the gold standard. Armstrong considers gold a hedge against government, which seeks its own survival and invariably must seize more and more of its citizen’s assets. Gold is mobile wealth unlike real estate. Yes, you can take it with you.

It seems pretty obvious that people will have to be severely rattled before they even consider anything like getting rid of the crooked ‘Venetian’ systems. They’ll keep on going through the useless motions right down to the bitter end.

      ‘Jerbs, jerbs, jerbs.’

I was vastly amused by the photo of the ‘traumfrauen’, the middle-aged women you saw picking up shattered bits of buildings in Hamburg after the bombings in early 1945, with a big fat sign proclaiming WIR LIEBEN UNSERER FÜHRER.

You could sneak up and snicker ‘Hey baby, is GAME OVER for you dudes. Better hitch up your knickers and get ready to get poked by hordes of woman-hungry GIs’.

      They wouldn’t even blink.

People tend to hang on to the bitter end and even after, smoking their hopium in the impossible dream. You could smack them in the kisser with a plausible alternative but they won’t buy it: ‘Avoid the unknown’. Amirite?

The genius parasites that Donald J. Trump has installed into his cabinet and inner circle have got all this financial shit under control.

    Well don’t they?

Of course they do. Rockefellers, Rothschilds, Saxe-Coburg Gothas that’s who!

And do not forget that wunderkind son-in-law, Ivanka’s love match, Havard (of course) alumni, owner of the “666” building in Manhattan, scion of a convicted financial felon, and really good friend of none-other than that NWO demon George Soros; Jared Kushner!

The real indicator of when The Shit Is About To Hit the Fan is when all the private jets near the financial centers are taking off to parts unknown.

The question then is how fast does the feces fly into the fan? For I know people who live in remote mountainous areas where very wealthy people have their mountain retreats and getaways. Many of these people are wise to the game and may park vehicles on those getaway runways so those private jets cannot land if the alarm bells are going off and audible in the remote reaches.

My guess is a fast collapse would happen like a sonic boom or atomic bomb. Readily apparent to those very near near the event, while the sound and shock wave moves out more slowly to those further from ground zero. Those with green ink on their hands will cover it as long as possible to aid in their escape. That is if we get a fast event of any kind anyway.

So far this has been a death by hundreds of thousands of cuts. Although, we have an administration of people who love playing with samurai swords while having no concept of iaido or kenjutsu training, nor do they feel the need to learn such techniques. Deep cuts of a clueless nature appear to be coming over the horizon.

      • TiredOfTheTreadmill April 17, 2017 at 1:38 pm #

Addendum: Monitor private jet traffic/flight plans from the airports favored by the Goldmanites, Morganites, and Wall Street Crooks and that’s likely the best early warning system we can come up with.

Richie Rich & Co. are going to have to have a pack of armed guards protecting their goodies (including underground bunkers) and I don’t believe for a moment any of them can maintain 100% invisibility. When the word gets around the locals will assemble and begin to pop turds down air intakes, or gasoline, whatever.

Or even if the ‘luxury lifeboat’ manages to sail along happily as everything in the outer world falls apart furiously, there will come a point when the armed contingent (all of whom have family and loved ones in the whirl) awakens and realizes ‘We don’t need these fat parasites any longer’ and the guns turn around. Tell me it ain’t so.

Your child needs a shot. The refrigeration is on the blink, however, and there is no friendly uniformed serviceman handy to come fix it. So all the medications are kind of ruined. Now what.

          And so on.

Give the richies an extra six months of hunkering down and enjoying their survival goodies and all those left standing will be at one another’s throats. It will be no prettier than what is going down in the inner cities.

Brilliant early warning system there TiredOfTheTreadmill. Really thinking out of the box.

Your mordant and cynical suggestion has me thinking that another leg of the strategic-triad-of-escape systems for the financial and political henchmen of the Evil-Fuckers-In-Charge will also include all those yachts and go fast boats parked from Jupiter to Key West, Florida.

Once they start leaving en-mass in the dead of night, know that it’s game on. Boca Raton inlet will be a key indicator as will Port of Palm Beach.

However, no sane Wall Streeter or D.C. nematode, no matter how much in a hurry to get to the Bahamas, is taking a 80 foot Garlington out of Boynton Inlet.

Good point about the yachts leaving.

To me, this building animosity is a big part of the problem the money managers are causing. Their game is moving money upwards, all the while brewing anger and animosity and taking it to higher highs. Had they let it blow off in 2008, things may have been ugly, but not as ugly as this aged batch they have brewed.

If everyone takes a nasty hit, there may be a more cordial collapse in store. However, if the hit is as lopsided as the usual socialism for the wealthy and dog-eat-dog capitalism for everyone else, then I am guessing anger will take the lead. But, I could be wrong.

“The Financial Sector” (and its enormous skimmings and scammings) has always relied on faith-based narratives. As these fairy-stories dissolve due to lack of evidence or logic, so does trust in the story line. This is the cost of the onion-layering of generations-long lies. Even those employed in this sector have no loyalty to it (other than the politicians and their handlers), and therein lies a huge danger. More stage-smoke and misdirection are urgently needed to keep the illusion propped up!

Looking to motive gives a clear picture every time. Self-deception is not going to render immunity from financial collapse. At least, have a Plan B in case “It’s all good” loses its mojo.

  15. miner_tom April 17, 2017 at 11:27 am #

No big financial crash will happen. None of the above. The FED has discovered the way to monetary nirvana. Just print more money and give it to those that don’t really need it, in order to bump up the stock market.

I would have expected the current monetary strategy to fail 10 years ago but it has not. Financial and real estate speculators KNOW that the government has their back while the all Fox news all the time crowd thinks that all bad things come from “the libruls”.

People forget that towards the end of WW2, when most of Germany was in rubble, a great deal of Germans still were wildly behind Hitler. Once an idea gets that entrenched, it can not be replaced.

I don’t know why the non believers are naive enough to think that Trumps “base” whatever that is, will stop believing in him, no matter how bad things get. It seems that all that Trump has to do is to drop some bombs someplace and the mainstream press as well as the right wing press, glorify him. “Wasn’t that a beautiful display of American military might?”.

And about Obama care, that flawed act feeding money to the insurance companies? Many people who are on it for the first time actually believe that it is due to Trump, not Obama, because “Trump is here”.

      Tom,
The fly in your/their ointment is that if the majority of the World’s economies either collapse or refuse to recognize the dollar’s hegemony, than the system fails…Vietnam can print all the Dong in the world, but who gives a shit? The Fed can generate dollars because the dollar is the Reserve Currency, and only that allows us to do what other nations cannot…which is print money out of thin air with relative impunity, and demand acceptance.

      • miner_tom April 17, 2017 at 12:50 pm #

elysianfield, I agree with you! What you say would be completely true in a world where normal logic reigned.

The US would risk war with any nation, including Russia (which it is doing now) in order to maintain the dollar as the reserve currency.

I have been reading for over 20 years that the time has run out for the USD, and yet, here we are. So, war would be the answer to failed USD dominance as a currency. Nobody really wants that (aside from a few crazed neo-cons and a lot of prepper conspiracy theorists) so, the current paradigm will continue.

That, is the logic of the times.

With current monetary policy, savers, once the backbone of the American economy, are killed (financially) while speculators are rewarded beyond their dreams of avarice. And all that we head during the last presidential campaign is “crooked Hillary” and “Benghazi”. Don’t hold your breath for reality to come knocking at the door of media mind control machine.

They’ve been preparing for this very deliberately for years: constructing an alternative to the US-sponsored SWIFT international payment system, stockpiling thousands of tons of gold, building trade partnerships to circumvent US dominated syndicates. Before the month of April is out, they’ll “pull the trigger” on new voting arrangements in the International Monetary Fund that will reduce the financial power of the US and the Eurozone, especially in the oil trade.” — JHK

Mr. Kunstler is also correct to focus on the reserve status of the US Dollar. That is the weakest part of the US empire. When the dollar loses reserve currency status, every import becomes instantly more expensive and eventually, no exporter will accept the dollar for payment.

Nobody in the world is interested in the uncontrolled crash of the current dollar-based financial system. That would be a world-wide disaster on par with a nuclear war.

On the other hand, since Obama in 2014 put a stop to money printing, except for what is absolutely necessary for the needs of American economy, other countries, Russia included, are experiencing investment famine.

So, what the world needs right now is a new Bretton Woods conference that would legislatively establish new financial rules and principles of emitting the National currencies and how they would be valued against each other.

Obviously, any Bretton Woods conference needs to be preceded by a new Yalta conference that would legislatively establish new political reality and new zones of responsibility.

Minimum requirement for both conferences would be a stable government in Washington, which we still do not have, but seems to be progressing in the right direction.

Um, any notion of altering reserve currency status will result in war and nothing less than the fully unleashed ferocity of the U.S military.

Exactly. That is what would have happened under the Clinton’s management – more money printing, more Americans on welfare, more wars.

China and Russia can not undermine the international standing of the dollar or do much to SWIFT. The reason is that trade is a very small amount of what the USD is used for. The majority of capital is investment capital, NOT trade. Plus, China and Russia are only a percentage of world trade. Global investors use the USD, plus the USD and US Treasuries will remain the safe haven globally for a long time to come. (There isn’t a currency to replace it… the Euro and the Yen are both in big trouble and all other currencies are too small. The IMF’s SDRs only comprise a few billion; meaningless.)

The US and USD will remain king for a long time. It can’t implode because it can print its way out of anything. The USD is needed in trade and is till the petro-dollar (all countries have to hold USD to trade); it is the king for investment capital; it is the world’s reserve currency; it is backed up by the top economy on the planet… top military on the planet… and a country that has many assets and natural resources.

This is a very different world, with different rules and methods in finance. Will these misguided people who continually warn of currency collapse and hyper-inflation (mainly because they don’t understand how the system works) every get tired of their forecasts never coming true?

    • FincaInTheMountains April 17, 2017 at 3:27 pm #

Nothing lasts forever. If no new Bretton Woods, than it will be gold as a temporary solution.

Stay tuned for Putin’s speech in May in China – may be it will be the economic analogue of his Munich speech in 2007,

      http://en.kremlin.ru/events/president/transcripts/24034

      • amb April 17, 2017 at 4:40 pm #

Gold can never be the solution at any time. Not enough of it: thus, it would cause a deflationary global nightmare. We’ll never be going back to gold in any way (unless it just happens to be used as part of the mix in some created basket of commodities, mixed currencies, etc.). Gold bugs will never learn. It’s going to be electronic currency, backed by electronic currency. We’re moving into wild and crazy times.

        • beantownbill. April 17, 2017 at 5:11 pm #

Electronic currency will not be a reserve currency until quantum computers come on-line because top-level hackers would wreak havoc with that monitory system. Quantum computers are essentially hacker-proof, but it will be at least several years, if not longer, before they become workable and network-operable.

One warm winter a Black engaged me in conversation at the bus stop. He was lamenting he had bought a shovel and wanted to bring it back to get his money back. I could have said, What about next year, but for the Black, it’s endless summer. That’s all he knows. They are the grasshoppers Aesop’s (a Black!) fable. And us? We are the ants, the builder race.

Will you get some fucking pride please?

      • beantownbill. April 17, 2017 at 5:19 pm #

And maybe for the Black guy money was a major issue. Maybe he really needed the shovel if it was going to be a bad winter, but he no longer needed it, and the money refunded was important to him.

Very limited understanding of reality is what you get when you operate through prejudice.

White people are the reason electronics stores had to start charging a 15% restocking fee on all returns.

For example, they would “buy” the most expensive camera or video recorder for a wedding or vacation…

            then return it afterwards.

My Epistle to Susan, a South African woman who claimed “We didn’t bring it on ourselves” and asked “What can we do”?

First of all we recognize that we brought it on our selves. And Democracy, the rule of the Mob by those who own the TV, Beer, and Sports industries can never save us. So if a great Hero rises up, support him. Even if he’s a fanatic? Only if he’s a fanatic. A Fascist? Only if he’s a Fascist. Brutal? Brutality is the way now. We’ve past Churchill’s previous two stages of sweat and tears. We didn’t awaken. Only blood is left.

Every Black servant is a White man without a job. Every Black farm worker is a White man without a job. How many jobs, much less good jobs, did people think they’re were? Women ask, “Where are the good men? You became them! Now reproduce like an amoeba! Google “Women marrying themselves” – a growing and fruitful(?) new movement.

Does technology (the great job killer) exist to serve Man or does Man exist to serve the Machine? The latter if the owners of the Machine have any say in it. They must be overthrown. Support any leaders who talk this way. But obviously the Great Leader will be first and foremost a Military Man. But he must listen to philosophers, else we’ll save ourselves only to do it all over again – or something worse.

When I was a kid, my siblings and I often played the game Monopoly. My big brother was always the banker. With him as the banker, none of the rest of us ever won a game. Big brother knew the rules of the game and he taught us how to play. One of his rules was that he had the option to change rules when he saw fit. When big brother banker saw that the game was not 100% in his favor, he would make a slight adjustment to the rules to bring the game flow back in line. My sisters and I would object a bit, but never with enough force to make a difference. Big brother was in charge and we never really did object too much as we had lots of fun playing the game.

This memory of mine seems like an almost exact model of what I see taking place in real life today. Not long ago I was like many here who expected a collapse of some kind. These days though, I am not convinced. I truly believe that those in charge will simply change the rules when things get a bit tight or a bit more disorganized. We have seen this happen several times since the financial crisis…there is no reason to think it will not continue. Those in charge have too much to lose to ever allow a serious collapse. As long as the US remains the “bully” of the world, this will continue IMO.

PS: We need the US to continue as the “bully”. We will be in trouble if someone else takes the title.

It is the trend of the deficit and debt as a percentage of GDP, not the actual level itself that’s most important. Total debt as a percentage of GDP must become smaller by growing nominal GDP faster than deficits plus interest.

Rickards makes it clear by way of basic formulas:

    B=borrowing costs, R=real output, I=inflation, T=taxes, S=spending
    (R+I)=NGDP
He uses both terms, debt and deficits. |T-S|=primary deficit

    If (R+I) – B > | T – S |, then US deficits are sustainable.

If (R+I) -B 2, or 3>2, so debt as a percentage of GDP is declining. Sustainable condition.

Of course this is high growth and low inflation.

I think this is a pretty good example of how really basic fundamentals apply to our economic and financial well being.

In 1971 Nixon said, “I am a Keynesian in economics”. Starting in the early seventies, money and gold grew further and further apart. Bretton Woods was done. Dollar no longer pegged to gold at a fixed rate.

But Bretton Woods was also fixed exchange rates. Those were done too. Currencies were pegged to gold and to each other through the dollar. No longer. Rates began to float. Good for speculators and currency traders. Trade?

Think of what happened to growth and incomes between 1944 and 1971. Time of the gold standard and fixed exchange rates. Then we started to go to the easy money and credit and low rates. They called it elastic money. Here we are.

We had King Dollar in the eighties. Is it still King? Seems to be.

The racism theme simply masks the reality of the plight of knowledge class versus the ignorant class.

Galt posed the question of inequality:
“Does one believe an individual with an IQ of 168 will live life as an individual of 90?? Of course not. However, intelligent self-interest directs the intelligent to assist the unintelligent within the same community to the extent practical.”

The local newspaper, very supportive and beside themselves with glee, ran a picture of him: mustache, arms of a weightlifter, legs like a running back. Well, he’s on the team … how could you keep him off … and he’s not only winning every event he enters, he’s breaking longstanding records.

Simple math reveals there is NO chance of reinstating a gold standard. Our duly elected rulers claim there are about 150 million ounces of gold in Fort Knox. An ounce is presently valued at $1286….about the value of the average fed check sent out to 90 million households every month. All the gold in Fort Knox would be gone in just 50 days!
GOLD IS STARDUST. It is a rare, odd-numbered atom with 79 protons. Only collapsing stars, supernovas, can generate the stratospheric temperatures and pressures necessary to form just a relatively few atoms of the mystical element gold. It is estimated these atoms took some 3 million light years to reach our solar system. This cosmological process will not be replaced by a few unionized overpaid morons running Heidelberg presses grinding out fiat FRNs in Wash DC.

Speaking of gold, read an interesting article about the tons of gold and silver the Spanish mined in Peru and Mexico 1520-1830. When the Spanish Civil War broke out in 1936, wanting an outpost on the Med, the Soviet Union offered help to the Republicans. At once hundreds of NKVD operatives moved in disguised as advisers. One of the things they advised is why don’t you move your gold and silver reserves to Moscow for safe keeping until the war is over. It was done in a convoy of 500 trucks that moved eastward across Europe all the way into Russia.

That’s the last anybody heard of the Spanish Silver and Gold Reserves.

For example, if the social security checks stopped coming, a lot of parents would have to move in with their children, or their children would have to move in with them.

I can see why a lot of people would consider that a terrible development. * sarcasm*

In the era of cheap energy a culture was allowed to grow and flower that was fantastically selfish, self-absorbed, intolerant, and petty.
The narratives of meritocracy and the self-made man rose to a religious , cult-like status.

( You didn’t divest yourselves of religion, you only adopted a religion that was more poorly thought-out , and in every way worse, EXCEPT that it pandered very well to affluence, and the ego of affluence. )

In this era it became the norm for children to leave the nest and spread their wings, go out and make a new home and identity for themselves , because they were ambitious , virtuous, go-getters.

    — That was the childrens story anyway.

The reality was that cheap energy made this practice cheap and easy to carry out.

As often as not though, children moved out and paid rent to strangers because they were selfish, self-absorbed, intolerant, and petty brats to whom compromise was anathema , and they were basically impossible people to live with.
OR , their parents were selfish, self-absorbed, intolerant, petty, despots impossible to live with.
As often as not, this was true of both parents and children.

Divorce , likewise, became the norm, as people could not even live with , and adapt to, the companions of their own choice !

The passing of all this would be bad? I have my doubts that it would be.

In the era of cheap energy , you had people moving from one part of the country to another strictly for the sake of money and status, taking no account of local conditions , peoples , and cultures, but disdaining and hating it.
Very much, in actual practice, like troops of a foreign power in occupation.
I’m a Canadian who has lived in the American Southeast for 30 years, and in my view the American Southeast has become an armed camp seething with hatred and resentment, not because of blacks, or because of Mexicans, or because of rednecks, but primarily because of other Americans who have moved into the region, and actually hate and despise the region where they live, made all the worse because they never frankly admit they hate and despise it, but pretend to some scruple .
A vague Americanism which I have no doubt is vague on purpose .

If families are forced to consolidate they might then be forced to appreciate where they are and who they are with , and , long term, like would consolidate with like .

It strikes me as funny that Americans don’t much like my calls for Balkanization, since it seems to me that with your gated communities, segregation by class more destructive to family and community than Jim Crow ever was , and fantastic proliferation of subcultures, you have become more tribalistic than Afghanistan, so Balkanization would be a step up.

      Kesa,
Your premise is possible, but unlikely. With several generations in a household, tensions are ever-present. Those brought up in a period of relative wealth and privilege may not adjust well to austerity. Before WWII, when multi-generation households were the norm, there was little to compare one’s situation with…people did what they had to do. Different now. The Aged are of a different culture than the 20-somethings returning home with their ass in a basket…adjustment may be difficult, and sometimes impossible. Cops see this every day…social workers rarely hear the screaming and the acrimony, bruises and blood.

White people are the reason electronics stores had to start charging a 15% restocking fee on all returns.

For example, they would “buy” the most expensive camera or video recorder for a wedding or vacation…

    then return it afterwards.

You can learn a lot from watching white people.

Division of the world between USA, China and Russia

With a blow to Syria, Trump solved his main problem – to prevent impeachment, which could have happened in a matter of just two or three weeks. Moreover, he showed to US elite that the problems facing US (and I emphasize US, and not the “World Government”) he could solve much more effectively than the team of supranational hawks led by Clinton, without entering into a nuclear clinch with two other world superpowers.

Trump is, of course, is a showman, but he knows his business well, and his tactics shows that it produces results.

The Deep State for a time being lost its main trump cards, Trump received a respite so necessary for him, which manifested itself during the course of the conflict with the North Korea and now can more calmly address both internal and external problems.

Now it is clear how Trump is going to solve problems – by building a two-level configuration: if in some region of the world there is a problem, someone creates it, then it must be solved by the world superpower that is responsible for this region. And this way of solving the problem he made clear to China on the example of North Korea – since Pyongyang creates problems, it is Beijing’s task to solve this problem if it wants Washington to respect it and retain its zone of responsibility.

Beijing did not resist such US tactics and not only took responsibility for the N. Korea’s problem by undertaking a number of steps – the concentration of the army on the border with N. Korea, the absence of a rigid public reaction to US rhetoric, the freezing of oil supplies, the refusal to buy the North Korean coal and suspension of flights, but also abstained in the UN vote on Syria, which was vetoed only by Russia, and abstained from condemning the US actions in Syria as aggression, which were supported only by Russia and Iran.

The international aspect of what happened for China is simply catastrophic. By very many countries, China was perceived as one of the centers of power to rely on in opposition to US hegemony. Pakistan, Philippines and many others, have built their policies on the basis of this “immutable” fact. Now China’s international authority will drop dramatically. Earlier, China opposed the US in a group of countries that seek to guarantee their sovereignty, but now for some time, China will remain in “proud” solitude.

There are also objective reasons why the conflict around North Korea is almost impossible: The conflict around North Korea is unique – there is a high level of threat, but there is a low probability of a real war. On the Korean Peninsula, everyone hates each other, exchange threats, but neither side is ready to strike the first blow.

From the fact that the Trump’s America recognizes China’s zone of responsibility, it follows that exactly same zone of responsibility, which includes the entire post-Soviet space, will be recognized for Russia.

Trump is ready to recognize in Putin the local sheriff, same as he is. And sheriffs do not care for the problems of local Indians.

Therefore, Tillerson’s reaction to the questions of Europeans about the fate of Ukraine is indicative: “this is not our problem”.

The Vatican’s reaction to the new sanctions against Russia proposed by the British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson suggested that at the meeting in Italy these proposals were blocked, because the US did not insist on them, and the President of Italy (traditional Vatican’s protege) on the same day went to Moscow to report.

As soon as the new US alignment with Russia became clear to Merkel, she immediately decided to go to Russia to negotiate: the relations between Germany and Russia, a new division of Europe, the conditions for the partition of Ukraine and how to minimize Germany’s financial liability.

“On the other hand, Trump hasn’t played ANY basketball. While Obama was frittering away his time practicing free throws Trump was keeping America safe…” –Q.

I would say Trump is making America less safe. But to your point: Obama took a break for a couple of hours to play basketball and then went back to work. Obama did not fly to Florida for days, at a cost of millions of dollars. When Obama played basketball it did not cost the country millions of dollars; Obama playing basketball did not involve the Coast Guard. Obama and Michelle lived together as a married couple in love. Michelle was not off living somewhere else costing additional millions of dollars in security.

As long as the dollar is the world’s reserve currency we can pile on debt almost indefinitely. That “reserve status” is the reason that the current world war is being fought. Cyberwarfare (hacking) is just a method of carrying out that war, but they are mere skirmishes. The real battle is whether or not China and Russia, and perhaps a few other nations, can actually implement a system like SWIFT and manage to divert at least some transactions from a dollar based exchange and settlement system. If they are able to undermine the dollar’s reserve status they might be able to limit our ability to issue debt (which is, by the way, money) and thus curtail our ability to maintain economic hegemony. (and not just us, but Europe and Great Britain as well)

Another angle, either alone or in together with the efforts to build a system to compete with SWIFT is the effort begun a few years ago to convince the Saudis and other oil producing nations to denominate a barrel of oil as it comes out of the ground in something other than dollars. If those two things ever come to fruition it could either force an end to the dollar’s reserve status or force a shooting war; or both.

On a related note it is easy to see why we invaded and occupied Iraq and why we tolerate the Saudis and their connections to ISIS and worldwide terrorism.

If Baghdadi is really arrested, then this is a serious success – as if in 1945 in Berlin Hitler was caught alive.

However, I think it is worth waiting for official statements from Special Forces. It is possible that this is another element of the disinformation war against the Caliphate in order to undermine the morale of the militants.

      Solomon’s Wives

11 King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh’s daughter—Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites. 2 They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites, “You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love. 3 He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray.

Dialogue with the infidels. The results of the visit of the US Secretary of State to Moscow

Formally, it seems that both sides talked about the same thing: it is an “inclusive” inter-Syrian dialogue with the representation of all political forces and all communities – except terrorists. And to this formulation, Tillerson firmly added “but only without Assad.”

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry called the US policy toward the “dictators” unpleasant to them “an obsession with the regime change.” It is obvious that personally, R. Tillerson is not obsessed with any regime change. And hardly D. Trump obsessed with it either.

The point is a deeper phenomenon. In a kind of political religion, which is professed in the US and, more broadly, in the West for too long. It took root there, overgrown with rituals and priests, it already painted too many icons, wrote litanies and anathemas, so that even sensible businessman, cleverly coming to formal power in America, could suddenly declare his disbelief in its dogmas.

The current American (and not only American) leadership is trapped in a political religion established without their participation and having a huge number of followers on all branches of the social tree. We in Russia do not very much understand the intensity of revelations – but in today’s United States, the people enlightened in this religion actively attack the representatives of the administration even in the shops, accusing them of contacts with the infidels (well, that is, with us, the Russians) and of treachery.

Moreover, the scale of this democratic totalitarianism and Cold Civil War with the infidels is such that they amaze even the hard-core functionaries of the Moscow Carnegie Center, who suddenly note the completely irrational, religious Russophobia of the advanced and experienced in freedom Americans.

In this situation, the main outcome of the meeting can be formulated as follows. The US Secretary of State confirmed that neither he nor his boss is able to abandon the dogmas dictated by the tradition, by numerous lobby and media pressure. Assad must leave, chemical weapons were used by Damascus, freedom is better than not being free, the future of all countries is liberal democracy, dictators are evil.

At the same time, the current American leadership understands everything. And it does not want to blow up the world because of its official religion, which proved in practice its incompatibility with reality.

The problem is that the legitimacy of the current American leadership is under constant media pressure. And in the case of further internal American liberty-jihad, he will continue to have to prove his fidelity with actions similar to the Missile Tweet in Syria.

  63. volodya April 19, 2017 at 10:53 am #

Kesa Anna correct me if I’m wrong but I think what you’re referring to is the historic irritation between North and South. I’ve got close relatives in the Deep South so this gives me some glimmers though having spent decades there you’d know better than me.

Northerners move to the States of the old Confederacy for whatever reasons, work or career for example. And when they get there it’s as if they moved to a different country. The Northerner finds that their Southern neighbors are culturally and religiously different. There’s different accents and different political views and different views of history, especially the Civil War or, from a Southern viewpoint, the War Between the States. For example, Southerners see more at the root of secession than just the issue of slavery.

The Southerner sings “Dixie’s Land” with great gusto which the Northerner finds intolerable.

    Here’s a stirring rendition:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__kQX12S9YI

Or, if you’re a liberal northerner, deplorable.

Northerners deride Southerners as under-educated and deliberately ignorant. Southerners can’t abide the Northern attitude of moral and intellectual superiority. And this leads to conflict and acrimony.

If you read publications like the New York Times you see this played out over and over. You read again and again that a few tens of thousands of “less educated” voters decided the Nov 8 election. Writers affect astonishment at the stupidity of Southerners (and Heartlanders for that matter).

It’s not just the Times, there’s other great and self-important periodicals where there’s a continual re-working of that theme. They tell the reader about the racism and xenophobia and homophobia of these ignorant and backward people. They infuse their writing with a pose of great moral stature and condescension (at best) towards what they see as their intellectual inferiors.

It’s one thing if the two contending groups inhabit different geographical areas. At least there’s some space between them. It’s worse when individuals from these factions find themselves sharing neighborhoods and work-places.

Indeed, North and South are now blue and red (the colors should be reversed of course – this is pure mind fucking a la the Tavistock). A Southern accent is fine anyplace in Red America. Yankee? No, just no. Midwest is good to go as pure unaccented Americana. The median. The middle. But we need the high middle of National Socialism or else the middle just means mediocre – putty to be shaped by the Kushner Cult.

    • ozone April 19, 2017 at 6:48 pm #

      V.,
Do you see/intuit anything deliberate about this insistence [by periodicals and preening pundits] on the “vast irreconcilable differences” of those who actually exist in the same stratum of class and opportunity? I sure do; get thee to this week’s podcast for something applicable for those of us “untermenchen” doers and makers. (Fuck the rest of ’em… really.)

There’s more to life than class – little things like race, nationality, ethnicity and language. As a post-historic man I know that’s hard for you to understand, but it’s true nonetheless. If you were closer to the Earth, you would understand much more easily.

Trump tells Bartiromo He Struck Syria Over Chocolate Cake

Trump – I was sitting at the table, we finished dinner and ate a dessert – the most beautiful piece of chocolate cake that you have ever seen. Chairman Xi Jinping enjoyed it. And then I received a message from the generals: “The missiles are pointed, shall we fire?”

And then I said: Mr. President, let me tell you something: we just launched 59 missiles on Iraq.
    Bartiromo – You mean Syria?
    Trump: – Yes, Syria.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eSz8GM5hvM

And here is what I posted on Apr 8:

…Premier Xi came to Washington to sell out Russia.

And the moment he was engaged in this noble affair in private with Donald Trump, the latter secretly took off his boot and with the thumb of his left foot pressed the button that launches the Tomahawks, and with the thumb of his right foot pressed the button confirming the US consent to the occupation by the Philippine Army of one of the islands in the South China Sea, which has long been the object of sexual desires of the aforementioned Premier Xi.

No one is going to go to war over North Korea.

But they’ll keep the situation on the brink of war. And the Koreans on both sides will hold positions firmly, but so not to fight, exactly as the Chinese with the Japanese.

The only side that could be a party pooper is the United States; at any time snapping with another big (but harmless) bang because of any fake news from its domestic media.

Washington needs this to keep China in suspension by threatening to block the sea routes – and to press on the trade talks about the opening of the Chinese market for US corporations for trade balancing.

    Well,
    Ladies and Germs,
The BBC, this AM, have reported that African Scientists at the Mombaza Institue of Physics have developed a liquid that presents the possibility of “negative energy” that actually violates Newton’s Second Law of Motion, and accelerates when placed in motion by a laser beam strike. The results have been published and are undergoing peer review.

    • elysianfield April 19, 2017 at 11:30 am #

      Correction…
The article indicated that the liquid presenting the possibility of “negative energy” was developed and studied at Washington State University Physics Department, in the United States. My error.

The Mombaza Institute of “Physic” was listed as developing a new and powerful laxative…which also provides for liquid accelerating….My error was understandable….

40% of the “doing” in America is more the “un-doing” of America where the “doers” are “doing” their level best to fuck things up.

The justifications for it are elaborations on the one theme that such doings add vital liquidity to the blood of financial markets. But is there any validity to such assertions? I don’t see it. I see the opposite. I see disastrous distortions.

Price discovery? Baloney. It isn’t information, it’s misinformation. With incontinent central bank dovishness you get market fakery where prices bear no relation to reality. You get the same result from non-regulation by regulatory agencies and the studious gaze-aversion of law enforcement.

But, as Kunstler might say, scams and swindles are the only game in town left after the departure of American industrial might to China and Mexico. Elite accommodation is the rule nowadays between Washington and Manhattan. No difference with Trump as prez.

Hillary from her grave is trying to start a nuclear war

Russia’s foreign ministry is objecting to a meeting of lawmakers from NATO countries that is planned to take place in the Svalbard Islands next month. Under a 1920 international treaty, the archipelago is under Norwegian rule. The foreign ministry said in a statement on Wednesday that the islands are an inappropriate venue for upcoming the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. “In the context of NATO’s current course of ‘restraining’ Russia, accompanied by unprecedented military preparations near the borders of our country, attempts to drag Spitzbergen ‘under the wing’ of the military-political bloc…do not correspond to the spirit of the 1920 Treaty,” the ministry said, using the islands’ former name.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/m/239f7039-9f97-30dd-a4df-35c66bce5fee/russia-objects-to-nato.html

The war against Hillary Clinton will last a least ten years and Russia, Israel, Trump America, Great Britain and Shiite and Sufi Islam will be allies in this war.

The most amusing thing is that at a public level nobody is interested in this enemy – Hillary Clinton = Neocons = Black Project. Not their rites or ways of shaking hands, or the percentage of Jewish blood in the leaders of this movement, and what is its historiosophy, that is, what is its essence, its name.

And mankind can defeat such an enemy, only by calling it by name.

Well, for example, what is the real name of Hitler’s Germany?

The archive is located in the same mountain as the world seed storage.

The Norwegian Svalbard archipelago has become a storehouse of the achievements of mankind – something like the modern “Alexandria Library”. The former coal mine housed the World Archive, which is supplemented with books, documents and other information materials transferred to the photosensitive film.

The archive is located in the same mountain where the world seed storage is located. Since it started work in 2008, it collected 864,309 samples of plant seeds from around the planet.

Lawsuit: Neo-Nazi website owner is liable for harassing Montana real estate agent

“It’s that time, fam… ready for an old fashioned Troll Storm?”

    https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2017/04/neo-nazi-website-that-launched-a-troll-storm-is-sued-for-harassment/

“Lawyers for the Southern Poverty Law Center have sued the owner of a white supremacist website, accusing him of unleashing a ‘troll storm’ of harassment on a Jewish real estate agent.

“The lawsuit (PDF) was filed Tuesday against Andrew Anglin, publisher of the Daily Stormer neo-Nazi website. It claims he unleashed a ‘coordinated, repulsive, threatening campaign of anti-Semitic harassment’ on Tanya Gersh, a real estate agent living in Whitefish, Montana. The campaign allegedly resulted in more than 700 threatening phone calls, voicemails, and e-mails.

“At issue is whether a prominent publisher of a far-right website can be held legally liable for online ‘trolling’ tactics his articles inspired. Lawyers for Gersh say Anglin violated Montana’s ‘Anti-Intimidation Act’ and that he should be made to pay for Gersh’s emotional distress and loss of privacy.

“Anglin has advocated for keeping hatred of Jews front and center as the self-described ‘alt-right’ white-nationalist movement has gained increasing prominence over the last year. ‘I think there’s room for different viewpoints,’ he said in one interview with a white-nationalist YouTube channel. ‘But when it comes to the Jews, this is something that’s non-negotiable. You have to focus on the Jews as the primary enemy.’

“… Anglin published the Twitter handle of Tanya Gersh’s 12-year-old son, Jacob, calling him a ‘scamming little kike.’

“Others tweeted at Gersh’s 12-year-old son, including one who said ‘psst kid, there’s a free Xbox One inside this oven.'”

    Such charmers.

And then, all helpful and shit, she offered to be the real estate agent in the transaction. Even more helpful and shit, she wrote out a public confession for Mrs Spence to sign. A classic case of extortion.

And this horrible woman can call upon the all the powers of Global Judaism in her defense – as well as cucked race traitors like you.

      • Elrond Hubbard April 20, 2017 at 4:13 pm #

A peaceful demonstration in front of a building is not a violent threat. The first amendment denies Congress the ability to abridge freedom of assembly specifically to protect people’s ability to make peaceful protests. If you can name a law Ms. Gersh or her organization violated, you should call the prosecutor’s office in Whitefish and let them know about it.

Violent threats made by phone, e-mail, Twitter etc., on the other hand, are violent threats (duh), which is why there are laws against them. I await the outcome of this case with interest.

As for your final remark — y’know, I don’t have any tattoos, but if I ever get one it’s definitely going to read RACE TRAITOR. If I promise to get one, Janos, will you promise to pay for it? Everybody wins!

      • malthuss April 20, 2017 at 4:29 pm #

Will (((she))) be sued or jailed?

        And why bother with Elrond?

      • Janos Skorenzy April 20, 2017 at 4:32 pm #

No she threatened to ruin her and then offered to be her agent in the sale. At the very least she should lose her real estate license. And there is probably grounds for defamation – since she has never endorsed her son’s political beliefs. Both sides wen quiet so I assume Mrs Spencer took action, but I’m not sure.

No doubt you secretly admire the Anti-Fa goons who are also peaceful, right? Free speech means nobody’s feelings get hurt except for ours – which don’t count. And if something offends you, why then it isn’t free speech. Send in the Goons.

Elrond, you evil old Cuck Canuck, I’ve got your number.

        • Elrond Hubbard April 20, 2017 at 7:14 pm #

Hurt feelings, Janos? Surely you’re not serious — that’s snowflake talk. I’ll chalk it up to a weak moment.

Aside: Here we see Janos’ tic again, where he says “no doubt” something or other, “right?” Attributing some position to me without evidence, or otherwise pretending to read my state of mind and expose my hidden agenda. My agenda isn’t hidden, it’s expressed in the plain meaning of my plain words. As always, accusations like this are just him raving.

    The Bicycle Day

On April 19, 1943, Albert Hofmann, the Swiss father of psychedelic medicine, dropped lysergic acid diethylamide, thus synthesizing first batch of LSD and, becoming seriously fucked up on it, went on a bike ride, becoming the first human to ever trip on acid.

So an international holiday – The Bicycle Day – was created.

    The rest is psychedelic history.

That’s the thing Mr Ozone, under the feet of the perfumed clerisy (of which preening pundits are a subset) and over their heads and inside the walls of the places they stink up, there exists a humming network of mechanisms of an electrical or hydraulic or mechanical or even quantum mechanical nature of which said clerisy has not got Clue One. No clue at all. No, Mr Ozone, they haven’t got a sniff as to what it takes to keep them up on their High Horses where they tell us how indispensable they are with all their great wisdom and learning.

See, all this stuff operating sight unseen only works because of the efforts of folk who are looked down on by their High Horse “betters” because they get some dirt under their fingernails in the performance of their tasks.

It’s not just the whirring, gurgling, humming things hidden underfoot and in the walls. There’s other stuff that works in plain view. There’s the man that drives the truck emblazoned with the logos of the food company that stocks the shelves of the grocery store. Not that the High Horse Class spend much time among such horrors as chunks of raw meat nor, heaven forfend, in the places that kill and dismember. Even such grubby things as lettuce and spinach is beneath their station. See, these things have grit attached and – gasp and shudder – sometimes a multi-legged creature with antennas comes crawling out. No, all that is for lesser beings to deal with.

Yes, the lessers are the “uneducated” who somehow spent thirteen years of their lives in the hands of a professional class entrusted to teach the three Rs plus other frills like science and history and geography. But still, no matter the ministrations of said professional class, the wide-eyed graduates, diplomas in hand at the advanced age of seventeen, are deemed intellectually inferior by their betters who, by dint of the financial situation of their families, got a few more highly expensive years acquiring knowledge in partying, drunkenness and hooking up. Now, I don’t know about you, but if after thirteen years of sitting in classrooms you get an entire class of many millions of people that’s “uneducated”, I would say there’s a great reckoning required for this failure.

But, to your point, there’s a vast body of knowledge of materials and how to use them and how to shape objects by bending tools to your will and putting said objects together to make them do things that support life in some tolerable form. As sure as we’re sitting here, the people with such knowledge will be in a far better situation.

And, as you say, fuck the rest of ’em – meaning those that acquired an ability with twisting meaning and obscuring reality and otherwise becoming facile bullshitters and somehow making a living from it. Really.

Senator Mark Warner sez the world is “desperate” for American leadership. No, the world is desperate for no such thing. That’s a truly weird American conceit especially considering the multitude of American fuck-ups these last fifty years.

But there are places that happily play Americans for suckers, like Europeans, who with their weight of population and wealth, easily have the means to defend themselves militarily without US help. I mean, could it possibly be that 500 hundred million people in the EU can’t take on Russia that has a population of 145 million? Tell me that South Korea, with fifty million people versus North Korea’s twenty five million, and an economy that’s many times the size of its impoverished neighbor, somehow can’t summon the independent ability to defend themselves. And Japan and Taiwan and Israel.

Brief, but to the point, Vol. One of the best comments here, ever.

, , , considering the multitude of American fuck-ups these last fifty years.
      ===================
Fifty years ago, spring 1967, I was about to graduate from high school. I had zero motivtion for higher education, and seriously considered enlisting in the military. Instead, I used free tuition arrangement derived from my father’s employment and went to college, the degree from which benefits me to this day, with the decent middle-class job I have.

I was of an independent turn of mind, even at age 18. I can never know how military service in Vietnam would have affected me. Had I survived a tour “in country”, as they used to say, I would have at least acquired evidence on which to base a judgment as to whether claims are true that there was a My Lai-scale massacre of civilians by US and allied forces EVERY WEEK, on average, during the war.

I tend to think such claims are true. Nick Turse’s book Kill Anything That Moves is meticulously documented. I recommend it to all students of the American involvement in Vietnam.

Right on Volodya. If this is the type of American leadership that the world is in need of, the world is in big trouble.

Damn! Putin has a long reach!

Fox News TV host Bill O’Reilly will leave the job, said 21 Century Fox, which owns the channel.

In Russia Bill O’Reilly became scandalously famous after he called the Russian leader Vladimir Putin “a killer” in an interview with US President Donald Trump. Later, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov called remarks of the journalist “insulting” and asked Fox News to apologize.

In response, O’Reilly said that the apology would have to wait until 2023.

So Elizabeth Warren sez that part of Trump’s election was an ugly stew of racism. There you have it again, Warren deplores the deplorables.

Noooooo, there’s no bigotry in the ranks of Democrats, none whatsoever. No, it’s all fact based, all of it, Heartlanders and Southerners are morons, the studies and surveys show it. The evidence is there, it’s indisputable, it’s settled science, so how can it be bigotry?

But how did Trump win? Hillary said I deplore you. Trump said I’ll fight for you.

Kim threatens the world with his nuclear weapons not for the first time. On the contrary, it is a great and long-established tradition, each time giving a guaranteed result in the past.

The gig usually goes as follows:

When the money in North Korea runs out again, Pyongyang beats itself in the chest and screams about its terrible nuclear weapons, then either arranges another nuclear underground explosion, or launches another missile – future carrier for nuclear weapons.

At the same time, the world based on seismic data is not entirely sure that the explosions were nuclear and not large quantities of TNT, but happily pretends to believe North Korea and to be terribly afraid. After demonstrating the North Korean some muscles, a three-, four- or even six-party commission quickly convenes, which for the public pretends to try to bring Pyongyang to its senses, while behind the scenes finds out how much money it needs for elimination of its most acute problems, how to pass them to Kim and who should shell out and how much.

South Korea as a matter of rule pitches in, as well as US. At the same time, one must understand that this provocation begins when N. Korea could not quietly agree on the amount of money it has gotten from China.

Russia in all cases pretends to be concerned, always proudly stands for a peaceful solution of the conflict and always says: sorry, folks, there is no money and will not be.

Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives. James Madison

Wikileaks, who chose James Madison’s words as their motto, did reveal one carefully hidden secret – the intellectual squalor of American diplomacy.

    https://search.wikileaks.org/plusd/

No, Russian diplomats were also not Voltaire-type intellectuals – it is well known that Moscow State Institute of International Relations for 5 years taught future diplomats not to piss on their fingers. But there, at least, the desire to save foreign currency for future utilization in special Moscow shops did not allow the higher nervous activity to completely fade away.

Meanwhile, the course of political science and international relations in American universities, apparently, begins with lobotomy.

It’s just amazing, but as it turned out, first the State Department pays Russian journalists for propaganda, and then the American diplomats pass this “secret materials” to the State department as a terrible and important knowledge. And if they were doing it just to turn a quick buck, but they really do believe that all this garbage, which they themselves invented, is the truth in the last resort.

And then, on this basis, relations are built between the two nuclear powers that can destroy each other many times!!! Speaking about being caught in your own propaganda!

Here is what happens to me…

Here is the story of my grievance:
I miss my faithful old friend’s visits,
    In pointless vanity, I get
    A strange variety instead.

    And he
    somewhere would roam with strangers,
And I am sure he understands this,
And our discord we can’t explain,
We both continue with this pain.

Here is the story of my grievance:
She’s not the one I want to be with,
Onto my chest she puts her hands
And from the other one kidnaps.

And to that other one –
    somebody,
Please tell whose chest to put hands on!
    She,
one from whom I have been stolen,
Will go on stealing in return.

She won’t be prompt in her responses,
She’ll live in struggle for a while,
And vaguely pick in her subconscious
    A distant stranger to beguile.

    Oh, count all ailing,
    discontented,
    Unneeded ties,
    friends unintended!
    Hell knows I am exasperated!
    Oh, someone please,
    arrive,
    disrupt
    The long unitedness
    of strangers
    And closest souls’
    prolonged break-up!

Only Finca seems to understand Trump’s methods like an open book; and he is not telling it all == chola3

The way I understand it: Trump’s top priority is consolidation of power in the hands of constitutionally elected Administration and avoidance of Hot Civil War – the worst kind of war that could happen to a Nation.

What most Americans do not understand is that the US Federal Government and Federal Institutions are NOT working solely for the purpose of governance of 50 American States – that is probably, only 15 – 20% of their task load, but to govern the entire Pax Americana – the crypto-Colonial system built in the last 50 years.

So, for instance, US Federal Reserve is not only the Central Bank of the United States, it is a central money-emitting Authority for the entire world. US State Department uses same bureaucratic procedures dealing with the state of Alabama, as with the state of Mexico. Same goes for other Federal Agencies – the Justice Department, the FBI and so on.

When Ukrainian revolution happened in 2014, it came to FBI opening offices in Kiev and physically running operations using American staff, including per deem expenses.

So with the hard turn Trump is taking – all that bureaucracies is getting useless and will get eliminated.

These people a fighting nail and tooth no only for “ideological” reasons, but for their very survival, and the hell with the rest of the country.

I hope that would explain the fierce resistance of the Federal bureaucracy – The Deep State – to the Trump’s administration and their willingness to plunge a Nation into a Civil War.
