Don’t the Democrats know that we can do better than mail-in voting? How about a national show of hands? Say, around four p.m. on Tuesday, November 3 — just after lunch for west coasters and after nappy-time back east? Ready, set… hands up (don’t shoot!). Or maybe just a voice vote: all in favor of blank, say aye…. Wouldn’t that be the most heartwarming moment since Michael Jackson led the all-star chorus of We Are the World?

I’m struggling to understand exactly how the Dems put over the idea that voter ID amounts to voter suppression. I suppose it’s just another instance of the old Joe Goebbels principle that says if you repeat a big lie enough times, people will take it for the truth. The nation used to be immune to these assaults on reason and decency so easily employed by despotic regimes in foreign lands because we were able to watch their insane antics at a comfortable remove. But now that the Dems have gone full Orwell here, you see how easy it really is to bamboozle the home-folks. War is Peace… Freedom is Slavery… Diversity is Uniformity…Vote early and often…and all that.

Traditionally, in New York State, one registers to vote. You sign a document and submit it to the local Board of Elections. This has long been regarded as a logical and necessary obligation of citizenship, like registering a car or a deed to property. On election day, you go into your polling place, and the volunteer officials open a big book of alphabetized names… and, voila, there you are, along with a record of your signature, going back through all the elections you have lived in that voting district. You are who you claim to be, and you get to vote… once.

Through the eighteen four-year election cycles I’ve lived through, nobody objected to this until very recently, when the Democrats realized that the more than ten-million illegal immigrants they had jammed through the border could be enlisted in service to the Party’s elections. In states controlled by the Democrats, like California, it works like a charm to ensure one-party rule — and then one-party rule works like a charm to bankrupt and destroy the state in a feeding-frenzy of “entitlement” freebies. And now they seek to use the same method to destroy the nation as a whole.

In New York’s June 23 primary this year of corona virus, 21 percent of mail-in ballots in New York City were invalidated by the Board of Elections for arriving late, or lacking a postmark, or a voter’s signature, 84,000 in all. Reminder: this is a country that used to send officials like former president Jimmy Carter around the world to instruct “less developed” peoples in how to hold a fair election. Perhaps Cameroon and Tajikistan can send some counselors to New York and North Carolina now.

The object of this new scam, apparently, is to so severely cripple the vote-counting process that the hopelessly botched election will be thrown into the House of Representatives, where a Democratic Party majority can see to producing the correct outcome. There are a few things possibly wrong with this game-plan. One is that the Democratic Party candidates might lose despite massive voting fraud, since most of the fraud will be perpetrated in states that are expected to go blue anyway, namely, California, New York, and New Jersey. A more ominous outcome might be that they will ignite Civil War 2 with this final of a long series of insults to common decency against their political rivals, most particularly the four-year seditious coup to overthrow the winner of the last national election: RussiaGate, MuellerGate, UkraineGate, et cetera.

Nancy Pelosi has called Congress back from its campaign recess, to convene next Saturday after her party’s nominating convention, to try to lay whatever groundwork she can to use the mail-in vote controversy to invalidate the election. This assumes that the Dems can get through their convention without some humiliating crack-up — for instance, if enough delegates break through the Emperor’s-New-Clothes wall-of-silence that has protected their mentally incapacitated putative nominee, Joe Biden, so far, and just…say…no.

Sometimes in US history, party conventions go their own way, despite the best-laid plans of party bosses. William Jennings Bryan, age 36, hijacked the 1896 Democratic nomination with his rousing “Cross of Gold” speech. In 1912, a fracas between the forces of incumbent President Taft and former President Teddy Roosevelt provoked TR to break away and run on a Progressive Party ticket. (Taft and Roosevelt split the vote and Woodrow Wilson was elected president.)

Such a brawl hasn’t happened lately, as the convention formalities ossified, and became a largely ceremonial confirmation of the primary election process. But the dodgy primary victory of Mr. Biden — especially the Super Tuesday vote that mysteriously elevated him from the crypt of loserdom to a triumph of the undead — was itself probably an act of DNC-sponsored voter fraud. And since that business was all seemingly settled, Mr. Biden has gone on to demonstrate a gift for falling on his face whenever they dared to trundle him out of his fabled basement.

And so today, the Democrats’ janky-ass Zoom national convention opens in Internet Nowheresville and Gawd knows what virtual shenanigans may be in store, since the stage is set for all manner of spoofish fakery. If it comes down to it, Mr. Biden’s acceptance speech is certain to be a marvel of pre-recorded post-production wizardry. They won’t dare allow him to do it live, al fresco. But they’ll have to tell the viewing audience that the speech was pre-recorded… and if they don’t, you can be certain the fact will come out pronto… and when it does, that may be enough to sink the fake candidacy of the old grifter from Scranton.

Meanwhile, what’s going on in the Clintons’ Chappaqua castle keep? Surely a lot of vodka guzzling, but what else? Are instructions emanating from there? Or threats? Rumor is that the designated vice-president candidate, Ms. Harris, was installed at HRC’s insistence. Are we coming to that magic moment when She-Who-Will-Not-Be-Thwarted-Again kicks doddering old Joe to the curb and swoops into the top spot on an all-gal, women’s suffrage centennial edition, can’t-lose ticket? I can’t stand the suspense.

I posted this at the tail end of the previous comment section. It is actually more relevant for today’s post….

Barack Obama has privately voiced concerns that Joe Biden could ‘f— things up,’ according to a report

    Really Barry? Ya think? Duh!

Old Creepy Joe; alas, we hardly knew ye!

Can you imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth should the Queen Bee get the nomination and lose in the general yet again? Wouldn’t that be a sight to behold!

Of course they’re going to fix it this time anyway, so no chance of that happening.

Oh, and uhhhhh…….you see, it is actually “reparations” for blacks to vote early and vote often by mail. Goes hand-in-hand with looting the cities. A package deal if you will.

If you disagree then you are a racist.

  3. edpell August 17, 2020 at 10:10 am #

The issue of the day is class warfare. The ruling party has deflected that into race warfare but both blacks and whites are being impoverished.

    • JohnAZ August 17, 2020 at 10:22 am #

      The ruling party?

You mean the Democrats that control the judiciary, Capitol Hill, and most of the Deep State bureaucracy?

Or Trump, who has been canceled out for three years?

Even the RINO section of the GOP are now Democrats.

Dynasties rule, the Elite are in charge. Pretty soon, the folks rebelling against the Elite controlling everything will realize their enemy is primarily Left of center.

      Then what?

      • bluedog August 17, 2020 at 10:38 am #

What you mean is that the people will realize that their enemy is the 1% regardless of if they are red or blue or of left middle or center for what some call center is right or left of center, its just in the observers eye.If the people would just get rid of the great divider which is the two party system then perhaps the may, just may still have a country….

What do biker gangs 1%’ers have to do with being the enemy?

The bikers dress funny and they think Halloween is supposed to be 24/7/365. They are the enemy of the spirit of Halloween, benr.

The 1%ers promote dressing funny too.

          • bluedog August 21, 2020 at 8:50 am #

No parties would work very well.!!!

      • ThorsHammer August 21, 2020 at 11:10 am #

It never ceases to amaze me that there are still people who think that we have actual political parties in the US. There is only one ruling political “party”— call it the War Party or the Uniparty. Within it there is consensus about supporting policies that only benefit the .01% of the upper-upper class and the perpetuation of Global Empire and the Military/Industrial State.

Politics in the USA is played out by two different PR teams, The purpose is to keep the rabble entertained and divided while the Owners shovel all the dollars created by financial engineering into the holds of their yachts and sail off to a tax haven. This system has worked spectacularly for several decades as the technology of social mind control has grown ever more sophisticated. It has finally reached the point where the Demonic Organizers believe that they can choose as their figurehead a senile old grifter and hair sniffer so far gone that he has trouble remembering his own name and still sell him to the rabble as a Leader. Or the Repugnant faction can sucker their sheep into believing that a terminal narcissist whose only guiding principle is the repeal of all policies vaguely associated with his predecessor is the Savior of the dispossessed Classes.

Is their any limit to Stupid? Well the DNC had good reason to believe that they could sell Russiagate to the public. After all, Cheney & Friends sold the Banana Republic Hanging Chad election and the 911 False Flag Attack and Homeland Security State to almost everybody.

      • gonetohell August 21, 2020 at 11:15 pm #

You swallow this Kuntsler boyz juke straight down, no lube. He goes on to tell ya’ all voter fraud is rampant, then tells you 21% of NY’s primary votes were invalidated. Yep, no postmark, no signature or arrived late. Didn’t count. I’d say making sure the election was fair was a high priority. Kunstler is a bitter, bigoted, prejudiced and twisted old man. Don’t know why, but I sure know that he is.

      • gonetohell August 21, 2020 at 11:27 pm #

What drugs do you take exactly? The Repubicans control the Senate, the WH and Trump has replaced the House by executive order. We’re no longer a Republic because of idiots like you. We’re officially an autocracy.

    • Sredni Vashtar August 17, 2020 at 12:14 pm #

The difference being is that they were already impoverished. And are thus on the side of the Democratic redistribution schemes. It has served them very well so far by their reckoning, if not in reality.

  4. lost-in-north-dakota August 17, 2020 at 10:12 am #

I think there is a flaw in the Mr. Kunstler’s logic. He says that the Dems want to sow so much chaos into voting, that it gets thrown to the House of Representatives. That would be the absolute last thing the Dems would want, because if it gets thrown to the House, each state gets 1 vote, which means, Trump gets reelected. At least, that is my understanding of the process.

The following is from an essay by the blogger known as “Shipwrecked Crew, a former federal official who writes for RedState.com –JHK-Admin

The vote in the House is by state delegation, with each state getting only 1 vote. The vote in the Senate is done with each Senator getting a vote. It takes 26 state votes to be named President in the House, and 51 votes to be named Vice-President by the Senate. The composition of the House and Senate are made up of the NEW members voted in during the same election. The House and Senate are sworn in on January 4, 2021. The meet on January 6, 2021, to count the Electoral Votes. If neither candidate wins 270 votes, they proceed to voting according to the Twelfth Amendment. Currently, after big Democrat gains in 2018, the GOP controls 26 delegations and the Democrats control 23, with two delegations evenly divided. What those numbers will be after election day is anyone’s guess.

That brings into play another key feature of the Twelfth Amendment process, where Nancy Pelosi having the Speaker’s gavel becomes important — the requirement that there be a “quorum” as defined by the Amendment. That requirement is that there must be present a House member or members from two-thirds of the states for there to be a vote taken. If 14 states were unrepresented in the House on January 6, 2021, no election for President could be conducted. As Speaker, if Pelosi feared a quorum was present and Republicans controlled 26 house delegations — enough to re-elect Pres. Trump — she could adjourn the House before a quorum was determined to be present.

The rules for the Senate selection of the Vice-President are less complicated. But they still require a quorum of two-thirds of all Senators in order to proceed to a vote, and a majority of the whole Senate — 51 votes — to elect a Vice-President. Given the current partisan make-up of the Senate, and what it might be following the election, both parties could prevent a vote by having its members not appear in order to deny a quorum.

In the event that a Vice-President is chosen, but the House does not conduct a contingent election to pick a President by March 4, the Vice-President shall serve in the President’s place until the House does vote.

I believe this has been game-planned out by the Democrats. If Pres. Trump is set to prevail in a House election — which would be necessary as a result of chaos caused by the “vote-by-mail” election — then Nancy Pelosi could forestall the House election by keeping the House adjourned.

If the Democrats control the Senate, and the Republicans refused to appear to constitute a quorum to vote for Vice-President, that would make Nancy Pelosi acting-President on January 20, 2021, with both the offices of President and Vice-President vacant. The Democrats would be happy with that outcome.

    • cc rider August 17, 2020 at 10:16 am #

By golly you are right l-i-n-d. I assumed that each Representative gets one vote. But it is one vote per state.

      • bluekayak August 17, 2020 at 10:23 am #

The remaining shreds of our Constitution offer scant hope…

    • Nightowl August 17, 2020 at 10:20 am #

Regardless of their “strategy,” they will likely pull out all the stops this time.

As I have mentioned, in 2016, we should not forget that Clinton went as far as to try to flip the electors, which still ranks as one of the most pathetic acts I have ever seen committed in election history.

The Uniparty plan will be to introduce so much chaos from so many angles that when Trump wins, enough people will have already been convinced that it can’t be legit and this will result in chaos on the streets.

The Dems and their Uniparty cohorts have committed high crimes that would make Nixon and Shrub blush, and they have sold the country out in the name of global capitalism. They will stop at nothing this time around.

      • JohnAZ August 17, 2020 at 10:27 am #

Clinton’s wanted the election switched by the Dem dominated judiciary. Remember the rust belt recounts requested by Jill Stein? Trump actually got more votes in the recount in Michigan and Pennsylvania, and the process was summarily stopped. I did laugh a lot at that.

The Dems have used the judiciary ever since to try to run Trump out of town. They have run out of weapons except maybe the boys and girls in the streets. What happens when Trump wins?

        • Nightowl August 17, 2020 at 10:37 am #

I had actually forgotten about the stoppage. Too rich.

        • City_of_76 August 17, 2020 at 11:01 am #

If Trump wins, I wouldn’t be surprised if we finally begin the process of peacefully & legally re-configuring the United States as smaller national regions with their own political & tax systems. We may be better off with a number of nation-state-regions, closely aligned to naturally occurring bio-regions, who agree to some level of trans-continental exchange, but who hold less than continental political & taxation powers.

Of course, we’d have to dismantle the insanity of the Pentagon & military industrial complex — a dangerous condition that we can sorely afford, given the truly broke state of the world facing unending climate chaos.

In line with Kunstler’s prognosis that too-big institutions need to down-size along with the scale of our endeavors, the continental-sized USA no longer makes sense. People and places are too different, and our attempts to uphold a common culture have failed for too long and wasted too much effort.

Americans have already voiced their leanings with where they live & how they vote. If Trump wins, I think a lot of those who didn’t vote for him are going to lose their sense of shared citizenry with Trump-voting America.

          • Sredni Vashtar August 17, 2020 at 12:20 pm #

Trump has no such vision and would not allow the break up of the defunct union. Of course we have already broken up in reality and America is a dead horse.

          • sophia August 17, 2020 at 3:21 pm #

They already lost that sense of shard citizenry, and in fact had lost it before the election when Hillary smeared them in her campaign. It looks to me that they also lost their understanding that in a democracy/republic, you don’t always get what you want.

        • bluedog August 21, 2020 at 8:52 am #

This makes sense of Pelosi’s hints that for some reason Trump would refuse to leave and they would have to force him out.

Problem is, I do believe that could bring on a civil war, very much led by a gorilla citizen’s army of tens of millions.

The only reason said citizens would do it is if it were obvious that the election was stolen or tampered with.

What would be monumental is if Trump did win, and the Banana Republic USA had to live with the results. Collapse, total collapse, in what, 1-2 more years? It’s close now, but Trump has sealed the deal, so to speak. Most of the readers on CFN seem almost welcoming to this Long Emergency. Give your head a shake. • sophia August 17, 2020 at 3:16 pm #

Correction. If Trump does not win, it means we already live in a banana republic, which any decent person ought not to want. Trump is more popular than he was in 2016, and the dems are less popular, so its a forgone conclusion. Therefore if no Trump win, it means the government was stolen against the will of the people, and said people are actually enjoined to take their country back. It is one of the main reasons we have a second amendment. It was expected by the founding fathers that the day would come when an illegitimate government not in place by the will of the people takes power, and that it is the duty of the people to oust it. This they will do.
The idea that the dems can win this one is a fantasy.

Jim, if you sell your assets now and move to Canada you can avoid the housing market deflation in New York state before the throngs of masses decide to go shopping on 5th Avenue after midnight.

Canada’s housing market is booming right now, but it is going to fail outright too. Best to get out of Dodge USA before the gunfights start and The Purge becomes some sort of sick reality.

There is no way in heck that the New York state housing market is not going to completely implode outright.

Get out whilst the going is still good. When the bureaucrats start preventing citizens from leaving it will be too late at that juncture.

I know Canada is boring, but you don’t really want to be living in interesting times near to NYC if you can avoid it, frankly.

If political disorder picks up after the November election, our Government might try to keep the border closed. While people like JHK might find a warm welcome here, there are plenty of crazies we would like to keep out.

That’s right. We spent three years arguing about whether it was moral to close the borders especially the southern border. Both borders are now sealed tight: there will be no escaping the USA by land.

This for a virus that kills 1 out of 400 people who get it, at worst.

It will be amusing to see what else is lined up for us all.

And remember, they always said that was impossible. Yet fear not, mass importation of 3rd world refugees (legal!) is ongoing. America is less White every day. I know how much of a comfort that is to you for some bizarre (psychological) reason.

I’m no longer white, Janos, under the one drop rule. Little surprise courtesy of the Québécois ancestors. So now I have a rhetorical weapon against white liberals, and I’m going to use it.

Very near where I live are four small homes used as short term rentals in regular times. I think now some are being used longer term due to Covid. Recently I have noticed an elderly woman, somewhat frail looking on one of the big porch in the evenings, and now I see a man who appears likely to be her son joining her. I think the car with California plates is his, and they sit together on the porch. These four houses often have americans staying in them in the summer months for music festivals, etc. Always license plates from Washington State. I feel certain the woman has been brought here to protect her from exposure to Covid given her age. The border closed in March, but remained open to americans needing to get home to Alaska. They are not supposed to stop anywhere but go straight to Alaska. I don’t care if they’re breaking the rules. We’ll protect her at any cost. Circle the wagons.

Upstate NY real estate prices are going up. So you’re wrong there.

If and when upstate NY housing market implodes it will happen right about the same time as Canada’s does.

And, all in all, Jim isn’t really that close to NYC.

      Just worry about Canada dude.

      • Robert White August 17, 2020 at 11:18 am #

NY state housing prices are up right now because of the dead cat bounce post-COVID-19. Moreover, dead cats bounce but they don’t bounce much.

I stopped using a bong back in the late 70s when my friends and I decided to put whiskey in the bong rather than water.

The bong blew up when the whiskey caught fire.

The Darwin Award book (volume 1 I think) talked about a guy who wanted to try drinking gasoline. It tasted terrible so he spat it into the fireplace – with a fire going.

He didn’t make it, but you did. Justice? Do you feel guilty? Why not? Oh, you need to know if he was a poc?

        • cc rider August 17, 2020 at 11:27 am #

And how do you know that the same thing isn’t happening in Canada with regards to a dead cat bounce? Prices are up here in Texas this year too. I don’t expect it to be the case in 2021. But who knows? I’m beginning to think that not even an asteroid strike can take the Texas economy out. It’s the damnedest thing.

          • Robert White August 17, 2020 at 11:33 am #

Canada is getting the dead cat bounce too, but if Jim sells now and manages to get into Canada to purchase land and a house before the crash he will be better off in the long term.

Short term bets are never good in dead cat bounce markets unless one can get out fast enough.

Cash is King in these markets.

          • SW August 17, 2020 at 3:04 pm #

I don’t think we’ve seen the worst yet in Texas or the rest of the US. People are still on generous unemployment benefits but they’re not buying cars, retail fell in the ocean, & it’ll take more than HEB to keep us going. When all that back rent comes due (and it will) that’s when you don’t want to be standing in front of the fan.

        • DrTomSchmidt August 17, 2020 at 12:04 pm #

Upstate New York is cheap, compared to the city. Here’s a lot in Washington county, 7 acres, for $23k.

Upstate housing and land prices have been collapsing since the 19th century, when the Mohawk Valley boomed with manufacturing in the wake of the Erie Canal and then the railroad.

          So,how far will that collapse?

          • Robert White August 17, 2020 at 12:55 pm #

That plot of land won’t collapse much I agree, but how long will it take to get through the Zombie Apocalypse to see a restored economic landscape?

And what American militia group is Jim going to join for the upcoming Zombie Apocalypse when it does manifest, eh?

In CANUCKISTAN we don’t have militia groups, Dr. Schmidt.

Writers and artists in CANUCKISTAN don’t have to pick up a gun to survive, eh.

Can you get them to open the damn border? We have rising COVID cases in the South, where people are indoors now, in the summer, just as we had a catastrophe in late winter up here in the North when low vitamin D plus minorities plus Cuomo caused NY to out-kill the rest of the world, NJ excepted. Anyway, this NYer would like to avail himself of the low drug prices in Quebec. I’ll only be in country 30 minutes, I promise, and I’ll mask the whole time.

We will NEVER see a restored economic landscape. I’m more convinced than ever that NYC will never return to what it was in January. It’s dead, sad, and empty; I’m grieving it like the death of the overall civilization. And blaming Cuomo’s lockdown.

I hope you never get the need to defend yourself, Robert. Canadians are mostly very pleasant people, not violent, and I hope they remain so.

But really, open the damn border.

I attended a Back the Blue rally yesterday here in western NY . There was 8000 people there . When we drove the rally route the line of cars was 16 miles long all Trump supporters. It was a cross section of America . Everyone from hardcore Bikers wearing their vests to families with children and old folks like us.

Everyone treated each other with respect which is truly the greatest gift you can give to your fellow man and & woman.

There was one black man there and I thought people would wear his hand out by shaking it and making him feel welcome. It was like a mini Woodstock. But I did not smell any Marijunia .

The last thing I noticed was when everyone was pulling out was there was no trash on the ground. When the Peaceful Protestors are done there is literally a ton of trash left on the ground and crews have to go and clean up and remove the graffiti .

I used to read Kunstler for his insight into our built environment and the folly of American suburbia.

But his now-regular prattling about Hillary Clinton and the Democrats has left a bad taste in my mouth. I don’t know if it’s generational or what, but his political ravings don’t make any sense to me. Kunstler’s political blog posts don’t comport to the world as I observe it, with my weary and widely read eyes. I don’t perceive Hillary anywhere in the wings waiting to ascend, nor do I perceive Joe as doddering or inept as Kunstler would lead me to believe. If anything, Biden is so much more reasonable and rational than Trump that this county would prove itself unworthy of saving if it didn’t hand the presidency to Biden on November 3rd.

Democratic primary voters who don’t like the Trump shit-show went for Biden because Biden made himself available to voters. He’s vanilla, he’s got the track record of 8 years as VP, and vanilla Americans are OK with that. Biden is *good enough* to that big group of voters who will gladly settle for good enough, because they aren’t silly enough to believe in Republican fables. Most voters’ lived reality doesn’t support continued faith in the high expectations that Trump had promised and has failed to deliver.

Kunstler may have simply found that a steady stream of Clusterfuck Nation political rants is the winning formula to scratch a living out of online writing. But given his talents for confronting other aspects of American life, I feel the loss of his voice where he has proven more insightful.

Good answer. Kesa’s mind for example is centuries in the past talking about King George or perhaps the Elector of Hanover.

Part of the test to qualify for voting must be a knowledge of current events, not just theoretical principles as necessary as that is.

If apparently literate people like City_of_76 are so blinded by ideology/Trump hatred/belief in CNN prop that they can’t see that Biden is showing all the signs of worsening dementia, then perhaps all is lost.

Applying the term “reasonable” to someone who is unaware of place and time, and who counters uncomfortable questions with confabulation and responses like, “C’mon, Man!” is proof of his own inability to observe or reason. When asked if he had taken a cognitive test, Biden’s response was, “No! Why the hell would I take a test?” Exactly. Go ahead and hate Trump if you like, but please don’t defend the conspicuously disabled victim of senility that used to be Joe Biden.

Try asking Biden where he was at noon yesterday, and he will probably lapse into a lifeguard story about Corn Pop or children jumping into his lap, with a gleam in his eye.

      • City_of_76 August 17, 2020 at 11:20 am #

Our choice is between Biden and Trump. It’s a shitty choice, but it’s an easy one too; Trump has got to go.

        • Urinthe Village August 17, 2020 at 11:42 am #

          “…Trump has got to go.”

Funny. When I ask my Democrat friends exactly what policy it is that Trump supports that they object to, that’s what they say. When I ask them exactly what will change that will make the country better if he’s gone, that’s what they say. When I ask them what is it that he has done that has made their life worse, that’s what they say. When I point out that Biden is an empty placeholder nominated by a thoroughly corrupt process run by the DNC, that’s what they say.

“Orange man bad” is not much of a platform. An irrational fear is called a phobia. In irrational belief is called a delusion. Irrational hatred is called bigotry. That seems to be what underlies criticism of Trump.

          • benr August 17, 2020 at 12:04 pm #

If your eyes and ears are open and functioning properly there is no way you are not witnessing what JHK and others are.

Since election night 2016 when the Hillary team cancelled the fireworks in NYC and late into the night Hillary had to send out Podesta to lie to all her sobbing supporters at The Javits Center, she and the other DNC Grand poobahs have been doing their damndest to not allow Donald Trump to enact his agenda.

Did you not see all the corrupt rabbits being pulled out of the Democrats’ collective hat?? Spygate that started with Obama, Rice, Comey and Co. BEFORE Trump won?? The Kavenaugh hearings with rabid Democrat activists crying and screaming at the hearing doors and the trotting out of bogus witnesses? Ukrainegate where Joe Biden was the one hoisting the quid pro quo’s? The “Impeachment” fiasco that the Democrats clearly were more focused on than Covid-19 coming to our shores?

And now, sure enough, Barr and Durham are just beginning to trot out their indictments against the corrupt FBI higher-ups who signed false FISA warrants (lawyer Clinesmith plead guilty Friday) and more indictments are coming against the completely corrupted Obama administration.

And the American people have had it with the lockdowns and loss of employment and homes and cars and hardships. The loss of having the needed social attachments for their families and their children’s loss of their educations and play and friendships.

So what does Biden, the same guy who relishes in telling the story about how the children used to like to feel his legs at the pool and watch the hair stand up and turn blonde just before he thwarted an attack by Korn Pop with a chain, what does this tool of decades of corruption tell us we all must do for the next three months??!! “Everyone must wear a mask even when outdoors hiking or walking alone!” Even alone in the car Joe? Even newborn babies and toddlers who won’t even keep their shoes on??

JHK is just calling the political balls and strikes as he sees them playing out. He is trying to tell us the TRUTH.

As I read as much news as possible every day and try my best to be aware of what is going down, I can see clearly what he is seeing.

As a recent example of how rotten the DNC is, they just announced that Cenk Uygur and The Young Turks have been denied a press pass for their wack-ass convention! The most “progressive” media group who has taken Bernie’s betrayal on Medicare for All like good soldiers and have been begging Sanders delegates to vote for Biden, just had the grapefruit thrown in their faces by the DNC! Suckers again!

I have to seriously wonder, why can’t you see/hear what is right in front of your face?!

We were talking about some mutual friends moving to rural Kentucky, and I stated that there were major issues with fracking there and disappearing mountaintops. My friend said, “that is Trump’s fault.” What??? I said, “fracking has been going on for 15+ years…….”

On another exchange, this same friend asked if I had been to any restaurants lately (due to the shutdown). I had been and then he accused me of supporting corporations because that is what Trump does. These were franchise chain restaurants that were open (a lot of the smaller ones were permanently shuttered). So basically, anything becomes a Trump subject. I do live in CA.

Cnn(!) poll has Trump within the margin of error with mumbles, in a poll taken AFTER Ms Hoover was chosen. One really has to wonder if the dems are Trying to lose or just Hillery trying to destroy the party in a revenge move on the black Jesus, et al. I’ve stated before, come election night the call for Trump comes around 9pm.
Several alt sites seen to conflate what occurs in dem cities for a template of America. Here in southern Virginia, sit down eating inside is a go, masks are advised (Wally world checks to see if you have one, people take them off once inside to no harassment), NO one hassles anyone over their choice. A rally was held with a march downtown (all four blocks) with security provided by the local shooting club. Absolutely no cussing, shouting, obscene shirts – nothing. Strong Church presence, along with not to be f…Ed with GrandMa will do that. It was very inspiring to see. Y’all be safe and practice your draw.

The complacency. You state is now blue. Texans talk like this too. Their state is now blue too. Demography is Destiny.

Big Hat, No Cows syndrome is the curse of rural America.

And if Trump wins four more years? Then it’s Civil War for the next four years. He’s not the Man to take us out of the Union with these miscreants. We await the Man of the White Horse. Kalki or at least Lee on Traveler.

Best way to avoid civil unrest is to have an fair election.

Turns out insisting old Joe select a Black woman for Vice President was brilliant, because everyone knew Trump would really be running against her. Now, any criticism for any reason from Trump can be dismissed as evidence of his sexism and racism, with no need to address said criticism.

I’m not seeing too many Teslas around here, just 1 or 2 in town.

      Who is buying them?

      • benr August 17, 2020 at 12:17 pm #

I see a couple here and there in San Diego but the price tag is their biggest impediment that and actual delivery of said product.
For that sticker shock I would rather get just about any Toyota product,

        Tesla Model 3 – $36,200.
        Tesla Model S – $76,190.
        Tesla Model X – $81,190.
        Tesla Model Y – around $40,000.
        Tesla Roadster – around $200,000.
        Tesla Cybertruck – around $39,900.
        Tesla Semi – around $150,000.

        • Nightowl August 17, 2020 at 1:43 pm #

The prices are comical, particularly when the quality and design is considered.

Here in Germany, one sees them occasionally. And every time I wonder why the individual in question chose a Model S over something like a C63 AMG.

Certainly not a person that places any value on the driving experience.

A 2020 mid- engine [ first year ] Corvette is just 57k, so I’ve heard.

          • Bytes August 18, 2020 at 4:14 pm #

Maybe because the Tesla is faster, cheaper to operate and cleaner than any ICE vehicle.

        • Bytes August 18, 2020 at 4:15 pm #

Drive one, then tell me your story again. I would never go back to an ICE vehicle.

          • Nightowl August 18, 2020 at 5:17 pm #

I have driven one. A Model S. Drove it from my company’s Frankfurt office to the Cologne office. Not mega kilometers, but I found it sterile and boring, with build quality that would make Rover blush.

Currently debating whether to plonk down for a preowned C43 or C63 AMG.

I have no interest in quiet accelleration or mid-90s Saturn design — particularly given the prices. Range and charging network are also still inconvenient.

Porsche EV looks decent tho, but still an EV.

      • MiddlePeninsula August 17, 2020 at 7:17 pm #

I found a primo spot at the airport parking garage. Couldn’t take it, because the next parking spot had a Tesla in it. All I could think of was my vehicle being a charred mess when I returned. Those Teslas have a bad habit of burning up for no good reason. Luckily, we don’t see too many of them in my neck of the woods.

        • Bytes August 18, 2020 at 4:07 pm #

Nope. ICE vehicles burn more often than EVs. Google is you friend.

          • MiddlePeninsula August 19, 2020 at 11:57 am #

Still won’t park by one and don’t want some crappy Tesla. My hemi is out in the driveway. I don’t tow with a clown car, but thanks for the information.

        • Nightowl August 18, 2020 at 5:22 pm #

They are poorly built. At one point half of the factory was outdoors.

          • Bytes August 18, 2020 at 6:15 pm #

Your comment on the factory outdoors is irrelevant and was a temporary measure. You are really struggling for material are you not? Face it, minor build quality issues will be solved. But in the meantime, a Tesla will outrun anything you are driving and do it at 4 cents a mile with very low maintenance. Check out the very high customer satisfaction ratings for Tesla. Consumer Reports puts them at number one.

No oil changes, radiator fluids, differential fluid…all of that ridiculous maintenance because you drive around a heat engine that wastes most of its fuel to that heat.

Face it, ICE is dead. In five years, practically none of them will be sold…or in many cases allowed to be sold.

          • Nightowl August 19, 2020 at 4:27 am #

Sterile and soulless. The poor quality (misaligned parts, cheap materials), fires, and mid-90s Saturn design would keep me away anyways.

And as interesting as the Porsche EV looks, no EV will have that V8 thunder nor will it scream to redline like an inline 6.

You appear not to be a car person, and that is ok.

This year Biden/Harris will win the popular vote but the Electoral College will vote for Trump.

    More looting.

What is really worrying-the Democrat-run states want to bypass the Electoral College in the future or abolish it althogether.

The Movement To Skip The Electoral College Is Picking up Steam

    That will be the end.

It is like bad (L)ucy in the (S)ky with (D)iamonds trip.

    • beantownbill. August 17, 2020 at 12:14 pm #

You know what? It’s always possible that just the opposite will happen: Trump wins the popular vote, but loses in the electoral college. What will happen then? Probably the same as In the opposite case, except the players will be different.

No one knows the future. That future is just about now, so why don’t we wait a few days and see what occurs, although prognosticating can be fun if you’re into that kind of thing.

      • John1945 August 17, 2020 at 2:33 pm #

I am sure you know everything about the Electoral College.Because I assume you read US Constitution more than once.
Electoral College of 2020 will have Republican majority. And members of Electoral College always toe the party line.
For example it was irrelevant that Joe Kennedy stole 200K or so votes in 1960 to get his son into White House.
Electoral College of 1960 voted for JFK,not for RN.

    • sophia August 17, 2020 at 4:10 pm #

If they do win the popular election, it will be because of those 10 million noncitizens who got mailed ballots.
If they do get rid of the electoral college, it will lead to or accelerate the breakup of the union, and rightly so.

      • John1945 August 17, 2020 at 4:41 pm #

Prior to 17th Amendment US Senators were chosen by state legislatures. It did not mean that only the best and the brightest or at least honest were chosen.Every administration was plagued by scandals.

The 17th Amendment modified Article I, section 3, of the Constitution by allowing voters to cast direct votes for U.S. Senators.

Nowadays it is possible to elect not only grifters but the likes of AOC the Tavern Girl who has no clue and is capable only of mouthing platitude and look deeply compassionate.

Electoral College serves as a stabilizing element of political process. No cranks, revolutionaries, race baiters or outright wealth redistributors were elected as of today.

My guess is that when that anonymous somebody decides to get rid of Electoral College it will not be by the next Constitutional Amendment ratified by 3/4 of states.

  17. wm5135 August 17, 2020 at 11:48 am #

    In the upcoming general election:

    1. Vote against every incumbent.

    2. Make no selection for President/Vice President. (a vote of No Confidence)

Let the electoral college and the Supreme Court call the outcome. That is what the big money pays them to do.

Let the next administration trot that mandate out on the world stage.

As an aside: How much do you think the upfront cost for the little U.A.E. photo op was? Well it is a great relief to know that we have Pence, Pompeo and Kushner on the case.

So what I gather from reading the comments this a.m. is that a number of commenters were politically motivated as readers, but not so much for JHK’s ideas. He was a lifelong Democrat and attracted those Dems who are anti-Republican. What they weren’t taking into account is that JHK has always been into the American way of life, not Into which party he voted for.

Up ‘til recently the Democratic Party was always more in-line with Jim’s philosophy. No longer, and that deeply disappoints his die-hard Dem followers. To them, I say get over it and listen to his message. To Jim, I say, please forgive me for assuming I know what’s on your mind – I do know people generally don’t like being told what they are thinking.

    • jgalt August 17, 2020 at 1:25 pm #

Have followed JHK for years and was always aware he was very liberal (not marxist) in his opinions. Very fair and reasoned even when stating opinions I was not in agreement with, which is why I have followed his posts. It is obvious that the Democrats have crossed the Rubicon for Mr. Kunstler, and by extention, most non-leftists, in their mad quest for absolute power. If they win, you can kiss further elections good bye as they have no intention of ever allowing another free election they might lose. Same thing happened in Nicaragua, when the Sandinista’s made, for them, the mistake of allowing free elections resulting in their being thrown out of office. Several of our own freedom-loving Democrats here in the U.S. stated they never should have allowed the election to take place. Since regaining the power, they have not repeated that mistake.

jGalt– I was never “very liberal.” I was a middle-of-the-road JFK Democrat.–JHK Admin

Apparently the man dragged from his truck last night in Portland and severely beaten might not be dead. He looked dead. He took several severe blows and kicks to the head and the back of his skull split open when it crashed into the pavement. Lot of blood flowing.

The man was on his knees, surrounded by about a dozen Peaceful Protesters. He could be heard saying “I’m trying to get home”, and “I didn’t want to hurt anyone.”

(The public road was blocked by Peaceful Protesters, looks like he was trying to get around them)

Fox news is covering it but I haven’t seen the story on any other network, altho the incident was filmed in its entirety.

So blacks criminally victimize whites? Apparently no one cares.

There were 37,000 black-on-white rapes reported last year in the USA, according to the FBI. The FBI also reports that there were ZERO white-on-black rapes.

And of course, that is not to overlook the daily, multiple, black-on-white murders:

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 33-year-old man was arrested on murder charges in connection with the death of an attorney who was found dead inside her Delaney Park neighborhood home in Orlando.

Police said Erin Hartigan, 44, an Orange County government attorney who previously worked for the city of Orlando, was found slain Sunday after 4 a.m. inside a home in the 300 block of Jasmine Avenue.

Police said Hartigan’s mother called 911 and said her daughter had been attacked inside their home. Hartigan was dead and had multiple stab wounds when officers arrived at the home, according to police.

AMERICAN CANYON, Calif. – The Napa County Sheriff’s Office on Monday announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of 18-year-old outside of a Safeway supermarket where he worked.

Christopher “Roly” Young, 23 years old, from Martinez, was taken into custody on suspicion of killing Nathan Gabriel Garza, 18, from Fairfield on Sunday about noon in the Safeway parking lot American Canyon, the sheriff’s department said in a release.

No motive was given. Law enforcement did not say whether the two knew each other or not.

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. Middle class America is no less violent than any other people. They seem passive because they’re results oriented. They rise not out of blood frenzy but to solve the otherwise insoluble. Their methods of choice are good will, cooperation, forbearance, negotiation and finally, appeasement, roughly in that order. Only when these fail to end the abuse do they revert to blowback. And they do so irretrievably. Once the course is set and the outcome defined, doubt is put aside. The middle class is known, condemned actually, for carrying out violence with the efficiency of an industrial project where bloody destruction at any scale is not only in play, it’s a metric. Remorse is left for the next generation, they’ll have the leisure for it. We’d like to believe this is merely dark speculation. History says it isn’t.”
    – Ol’Remus

SV: Is it true? They’ve been awfully passive in the face of naked evil for a very long time. Utterly confused and bewildered. But perhaps now that the Enemy is out in the open, that is over with. Harris has said she will prosecute Trump if elected – along with the rest of White America.

    • sophia August 17, 2020 at 4:35 pm #

I’m beginning to think it is indeed true, and yes, what will help to bring it about is that hidden evils are openly being shown and things are getting much clearer.
You call it naked evil. I say the current situation of the deep state’s move to global totalitarianism is obvious and almost cartoonish – yet there are those who cannot see it. So obviously many people need it to be in their faces before they can take a stand. But I think it is happening.
The biggest impediment is the media. They hide the hideous reality and unless the people find out via social media or other alternatives (which the really brainwashed avoid carefully) they only hear about a 10th or hundredth of the bad stuff.

I think this quote is true and accurate.

It is also well understood by TPTB and the left. Hence, the war on the middle class for the last 50 years. No accident there.

White America has a crime rate equal to about that of the Czech Republic. In NYC, 95% of violent crime is committed by POC.

All the BS about ‘Gun Violence’, BLM and Antifa are looting, burning, assaulting police, and beating white people to death with impunity, very few of them have been shot (so far).

      • scoubidou123 August 17, 2020 at 7:59 pm #

“White America has a crime rate equal to about that of the Czech Republic”

If I just look at murders, that’s just not true. Black Americans have a horrendous homicide rate, but white americans are still pretty murderous for a western world country.

“The offending rate for blacks (34.4 per 100,000) was almost 8 times higher than the rate for whites (4.5 per 100,000)”

        If I check out
        let’s see, Czech republic: 0.6

        Other countries;
        Japan 0.26
        Norway 0.47
        Italy 0.57
        Australia 0.89
        Germany 0.95
        Sweden 1.08
        UK 1.2
        France 1.2
        Canada 1.76

4.5 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants for white Americans is still very high

Hispanics are considered White in order to boost our crime stats. Crazy? Check it out.

If adjusted, would our crime stats be comparable to White Europe? Many have said so. But your stats would seem to say otherwise.

        • Kim August 17, 2020 at 10:20 pm #

          Don’t be fooled.

The federal government and most state governments don’t consider Hispanic/Latino as a racial category — instead, most crimes committed by Hispanics are counted under the category “white.”

The Bureau of Prisons, for example, has relatively up-to-date statistics on the racial and ethnic composition of prisoners. As of May 28, 2016, 58.8 percent of federal prisoners are white, 37.7 percent are black, 2 percent are Native American, and 1.5 percent are Asian. Hispanics are not included in the race statistics, and the category only appears under ethnicity.

The data there shows that 66.2 percent of federal prisoners are non-Hispanic and 33.8 percent are Hispanic. According to Census Bureau estimates from 2015, 87.6 percent of people of Hispanic origin consider themselves “white” instead of “black,” “Asian,” “American Indian,” or “Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander.”

This means an estimated 29.6 percent of federal prisoners are Hispanics who fall under the category of “white” when it comes to race. So while whites are identified as being 58.8 percent of federal prisoners, about half of those are Hispanic.

If one would look at most states Hispanic is not considered a racial category, and only some ask about Hispanic ethnicity. This makes it impossible in some states to know or even estimate the actual arrest figures by race. (RELATED: Texas ‘Most Wanted Fugitives’ Are All Listed As White – None Of Them Are)

Due to this omission, Federal Bureau of Investigation crime statistics are not complete when it comes to Hispanic offenders. The FBI lists 9,014,635 total arrests, but only 4,813,531 of these have statistics on whether those arrested were Hispanic or non-Hispanic. The FBI, like the rest of the federal government, does not count Hispanic as a race.

California, unlike the federal government, includes Hispanic as a race and the effect of this categorization on crime statistics is pretty clear. In the year 2014, 797 arrests of Hispanics were made for homicides, and 287 whites were arrested for the same crime. Census estimates of California in 2014 show 89.6 percent of Hispanics identify as white.

So if California did not have a separate racial category for Hispanics, statistics would then show an estimated additional 693 murder arrests of white Californians. This would more than triple the amount of homicide arrests for whites, yet that is the standard which the federal government uses.

New York City also includes a racial category for Hispanics. In 2014, 45.8 percent of those arrested for rape were Hispanic, 43.2 percent were black, and 5.7 percent were white. But using the federal government standards, NYC crime would mean an estimated 39.8 percent of those arrested for rape charges would be white.

I am aware that some US stats are broken down by ethnicity and some aren’t.

OK so I looked it up further. I found this 2002 publication
which gives as age-standardized homicide rate
            whites: 4.3
            blacks: 33.73
            latinos: 12.37

As well as this 2018 article from the CDC
            US: 6.2
            whites: 2.9
            blacks: 22.8
            latinos: 5.3

The numbers for 2016 are markedly lower than the 2002 one, can’t say if it’s because the sources are different, or murder rate did go down.

Yep. To the surprise of no one, the black and Latino murder rates pull the US rate higher. But there is no denying: even at 2.9 murders per 100000, the white american homicide rate is markedly higher than found in other countries (that do have non-white population too). Nearly 5 times the Czech republic.

            @ scoubidou123

You “looked it up”? Well what you found was worthless because what you came up with – the researchgate piece, I could not access the CDC piece – was as tediously transparent a piece of research goal-seeking as one will find.

I provide the text of the Abstract of your linked research at the end of this comment, but here I will make two particular criticisms of it:

            1) Note the academic and practical worthlessness of the Conclusion outlined in the Abstract:

“The analysis reveals that all of the white-Latino homicide differential and about half of the white-black homicide gap could be reduced if the characteristics of minorities were improved to levels currently exhibited by whites.”

First, how do they know this?

Second, so the conclusion that this “analysis” “reveals” is at the level of “if my mother had balls, she would be my father.”

That is, if circumstances in the real world were completely different, then the figures for violent crime and ethnicity would be completely different.

Well, thanks for that. Valuable. Not.

Obviously, such a Conclusion is worthless to anyone but a leftist partisan. The fact is, there is no way of knowing that what is being claimed in this Conclusion is true. It is far more realistic to simply observe the objective fact that wherever in the world there are blacks there are high levels of violent crime.

The “characteristics” of which the authors speak are the conditions of life that – such as lawless and crime-infested environments, fatherlessness, etc – that the particular ethnic communities create themselves!

It is ludicrous to lament that “if only whites were as feckless as us, they would have similar crime rates!” as this researchgate “analysis” does.

            2) The claim – the basis of this “analysis” – is often made by criminal violence apologists with an anti-white axe to grind that hispanic crime is just a function of the youth of that particular cohort. That is, “Yes, they are robbing and killing and pimping now, but that is a just a stage every group goes through.”

But it isn’t really a stage every ethnic group goes through, is it? I am sure of that because – allow me to speculate far from wildly – I am sure that if we simply looked at various white age cohorts throughout post WW2 and their crime rates we would find that at the same ages the crime rates of the White age cohort are much much lower than the same-aged Hispanic or Black cohorts.

            Do you doubt that?

That is, do you believe that white criminality has ever been at levels similar to that of Hispanics and Blacks at any age in any post-WW2 period?

            Surely not.

For the curious. here is the Abstract of the “analysis” (really just an absurdly tendentious polemic) under discussion (my bolding):

The racial homicide differential in the United States is extraordinarily large, with minorities exhibiting much higher homicide rates than non-Latino whites. Several sociological explanations for crime suggest that if whites were subjected to the same structural pressures as minorities, white homicide rates would approach levels currently experienced among minorities. Based on 1990 data for 129 U.S. metropolitan areas, this study quantifies the extent to which differences in structural characteristics among the non-Latino white, non-Latino black, and Latino populations contribute to the homicide differential. The analysis reveals that all of the white-Latino homicide differential and about half of the white-black homicide gap could be reduced if the characteristics of minorities were improved to levels currently exhibited by whites.

Yes, if my mother had balls,….

          • scoubidou123 August 19, 2020 at 12:07 pm #

I was simply replying to the argument that the numbers I quoted for white homicide rates were so high only because they amalgamated hispanic whites with non-hispanic whites, nothing more. And the numbers they used did show that, even when splitting hispanic and non-hispanic whites, non-hispanic white homicide rates are still many times higher than in other western countries (that include their latino, black or arab citizens).

So you can rant all you want about the *analysis* of reasons for discrepancies in the publications, all I cared about where the rates themselves.

For what it’s worth, I actually disagree with some analyses that a) blame all of the discrepancies on poverty or other socio-economic factors, and certainly b) that all of the socio-economic factors among the ghetto blacks (education, poverty, single family homes etc) are purely due to white racism and not endogenous to black ghetto culture.

        • Kim August 17, 2020 at 10:30 pm #

This is easiest to see and understand if you just look at the mugshots and observe the – racially-organized gang – affiliations at this link:

Everyone on the Texas Department of Public Safety’s “10 Most Wanted Fugitives” list is identified as white, though based on their mugshots, names & gang affiliations, nine out of 10 of them are clearly not white.

The Bureau of Justice’s online “Arrest Data Analysis Tool” has individual filters for white, black, Native American and Asian, but “lumps Hispanics with whites.”

Yet, while it has no “Hispanic” category for “perpetrators,” the BOJ’s Criminal Victimization Report does include cross-tabulations for Hispanics, i.e., there is a “Hispanic” category for “victims”.

That was 1969 when the US population was 200 million and it was 90% white. So one-eighth of the white population would have to die. Today whites are only 170 million, so that means only 22 million whites would have to die.

You have to say that’s progress, right?

It’s a wrap. Democrats have gone to the extreme left, and they’ve also been exposed regarding their past, and it has been made clear that they are not for the America we knew and loved. They have been the source of much destruction in this country (I’m not saying the Republicans are not complicit). The majority of this country still have common sense and logic. It can’t be a landslide due to the Marxist infiltration and divided country (and Leftist medai propaganda and programming) yet Trump will win by a large margin, no matter who the Democrats put up against him. Trump in 2020, no doubt about it.

If the Democrats were in Canada they would be considered to be a right-wing party. Calling them “extreme left” or “Marxist” is pretty funny to anyone looking at the US from elsewhere. Canada’s publicly-funded healthcare for every Canadian is considered to be “socialism” or “communism” by Americans, but two-thirds of Americans who file for bankruptcy say it was because of medical bills. In a civilized country all citizens should have healthcare, but for millions of Americans that’s just a dream. And Americans consider their country to be “exceptional”. That’s pretty funny too.

Canadians I know, and there are many are traditional liberals and hate leftists. The difference is that they want people to be able to express themselves, have basic needs met and nothing else. As soon as you or anyone else decides that you are going to force other people to hold your values or be silenced if they don’t it gets really ugly quick.

        You have been fooled.

Canada does not have “healthcare”. It has a system of public subsidies for Big Agriculture, Big Pharma, and Big Medecine who make up a cartel of vampires that conspire to give people the very diseases that they then “treat” but never cure.

Diabetes, heart disease, cancer, immune system and inflammatory diseases – just for starters – are all diseases brought on by consuming the rubbish produced by Big Agriculture and its subsidiaries in consumer packaging.

This is well known and has been known or decades. Just as dentists know full well that carbs cause tooth decay. Yet every hospital and doctor’s and dentist’s waiting room still prominently features that big Food Pyramid poster telling us to base our eating around carbs.

Wake up. Is the Canadian “healthcare” system helping people to live more healthily? No? It is just extracting more and more money from the economy every year? Yes.

Then it is a taxpayer-subsidized con.

Justin Trudeau’s most business-friendly wing of the liberals would feel quite at home among the Wall Street and tech moguls darlings in the Hillary wing of the democrats, and the social justice warriors of the NDP could say the same among the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Ilhan Omar.

The world was not in the middle of a pandemic during those elections where people went to polling stations to vote. Why should people have to risk their lives standing in line at polling stations when they could easily vote by mail? There is no evidence that voting by mail contributes to fraud, except in the minds of people like Donald Trump. In fact, even Donald Trump has voted by mail in the past. I’m old and have an underlying healthy condition and there is no way I would vote in person during a pandemic, especially when so many people are refusing to wear masks or practice social distancing. The US already has almost 6 million cases of COVID and 173,485 Americans have died. How many more cases and deaths will there be after November 3? Probably a lot more, I would say.

    • BackRowHeckler August 17, 2020 at 5:44 pm #

No wonder Americans have the highest number of cases of COVID in the world, if people still think it’s just BS.

The virus is real. The reaction, the reporting, the fake figures, e.g., the financial incentives for hospitals to record deaths from all causes as covid-deaths – are the hoax.

The CARES Act does provide money to hospitals for each patient whose cause of death is COVID-19

“Hospital administrators might well want to see COVID-19 attached to a discharge summary or a death certificate. Why? Because if it’s a straightforward, garden-variety pneumonia that a person is admitted to the hospital for – if they’re Medicare – typically, the diagnosis-related group lump sum payment would be $5,000. But if it’s COVID-19 pneumonia, then it’s $13,000, and if that COVID-19 pneumonia patient ends up on a ventilator, it goes up to $39,000.”

    • sophia August 17, 2020 at 8:18 pm #

There is plenty of evidence that it cannot be done honestly. There are too many errors and these have been reported in several states just in these primaries. One state rejected 21% of the ballots. It really can’t be done and it isn’t worth the risk. America is a powder keg right now and we need to not engage in a brand new experiment in doing our elections. If mail-in elections were a good idea, we would have done it by now. It is hard to take comments like yours seriously when it is so disingenuous. If you have not read or heard of the problems, don’t make a comment saying there is no evidence. California has a few million noncitizens with driver’s licenses and that is how they plan to mail out ballots – using the DMV driver license rolls. Dead people are getting ballots, old tenants are getting ballots, etc. Other countries can send boxes of ballots. We need to tighten our elections, not loosen them. Just because you’re a liberal is no reason to be dishonest and destructive. You would like your neighbor to the south to be a banana republic? If you feel so delicate, you could perhaps do the absentee process. I think the lines could be managed. Would you risk your life by going to the grocery store?

    • fugeguy August 17, 2020 at 9:17 pm #

Again could you be dumber? Absentee ballots and mail voting are not the same.

You people are delusional for even discussing this as an issue. They held national elections here- in person with no covid-19 infections traced to polling stations. So of course no deaths. They worried about it but it didn’t happen. They had a good turnout too. We’re back on lockdown this week because of a new surge in cases but not due to voting.

    • Kim August 17, 2020 at 11:02 pm #

      @ Helen Highwater

I’m old and have an underlying healthy condition and there is no way I would vote in person during a pandemic,

Clearly, you do not understand the basic issues.

      1) You already can vote by mail using an absentee vote. All you have to do is go to the suitable govenment office, apply for it, fill it out and post it. Simple.

People who are old, ill, or who will be away from home on election day have been accommodated in this way since time immemorial

      2) This is not the Democrat plan. The Democrat plan is to mail out ballots to people across the nation

      – whether or not they have requested a ballot

      – with no way of verifying that the intended recipient is a registered voter

      – with no way of verifying that the intended recipient actually received the ballot

      – with no way of knowing whether the returned ballot vote was actually filled out by the person whom it was intended for.

And these are just a few of the most basic problems. It will be a disaster. Because that is the plan.

Different? The Elite always divide and conquer like this, telling their slaves in the Old South that they were better than the poor White Crackers. But yes, I grant you that the current industrial efficiency has never been seen before. The villification is 24/7. A precursor to the genocide that Bill Ayers spoke of decades ago.

One simply cannot give the Blacks a pass though – unless you deny them moral agency. Do you? Even I don’t think that little of them.

Sredni you are twisting things. I don’t think most blacks will fall for it, but like you said yourself, open vilification in a society can precede violence or even genocide. Of course it is the worst elements who do such things. I guess in a wholesome society, those worst elements are kept in check.

Since voting doesn’t really matter anyway (since we always have a “choice” of two, bad tasting, unhealthy cola drinks to pick from), it really doesn’t matter how or if voting even happens. Let the Hidden Hand just announce to us when they so choose who Our Ruler will be and do away with the charade since nobody believes in the “process” anymore anyway. Or, do the truly American thing: Put it up to the highest bidder. Whichever party collects the most Dark Money is declared the winner. Keep a running total like that seen on Lottery billboards to keep us engaged on in the “process”.

We don’t know in what form this Annoying Jack-In-The-Box will pop up and scare America again, but the lever has been cranking mightily for four years and the tension in the line is beyond measure and ready to blow. The resulting shock wave will be epic.

I don’t have cable TV, got rid of it a few years ago. The video from Portland last nite of the guy dragged from the truck, made to kneel on the pavement, then beaten and finally drop kicked (and I’ve seen in two reports that he has died, not verified tho) … are cable networks looping that video over and over like they did with George Floyd?

The area of Central NJ I live in has a very heavy population of Indians (dot, not feather) particularly the towns of Edison and Iselin, NJ.

I am wondering if these Indians are more or less likely to vote for the Dem ticket due to the fact that Senator Harris is partially (1/2) of Indian heritage.

Or, is that potential vote for the home team nullified by the other half of the heritage being Jamaican Black. I don’t know if Asian Indians are particularly keen on Blacks to begin with.

    Any thoughts on this subject?

    • Sredni Vashtar August 17, 2020 at 10:48 pm #

Indians have a very low opinion of Black, at least traditionally. That may be changing to the effect of Globalism Liberalism, especially since many of the upper classes sojourn in the West for a time. For example this is a “Not my President” meme in regards to the National Socialist President, Modi. Obviously they are comparing him to Trump – the idiots.

    • BackRowHeckler August 17, 2020 at 11:35 pm #

Jamaicans and other West Indians I worked with (until I got Covid furloughed March 23) generally had a low opinion of American ghetto blacks, didn’t want to live in their neighborhoods, didn’t identify with them, and most of all endeavored to keep their daughters away from urban ghetto culture. Some were proud of what they called their French or British heritage, and adopt themselves pretty quickly to white cultural norms as they exist in New England right now. From my perspective they were good coworkers and interesting people to be around.

Can you be more specific Mr Q.Shtik ?

You can tell just by looking at them what particular brand of Hindus they are.If you know what to look for.

Hindus have 2 parallel caste systems: religious (varna) and ethnic (jati).
Also within every caste they have strict pecking order.

Say,at the top of the Brahmins are High Priests at the Central Temple in India’s capital city Delhi.

At the bottom of the Brahmins are those who render ritual services at the funerals. They are as bad as Shudras and probably even worse.

You may safely assume that the top Brahmins are ultra-conservative and, ipso facto,Republicans.Bottom Brahmins and other castes are yellow dogs.

Other castes dont count.A Dalit may be a President of India. It already happened. And it changed abso-f…-lutely nothing. His kids will still be using dating services for “scheduled castes”.

Kamala Harris’ father P.V.Gopalan was a Tamil Brahmin.Kamala Harris herself, because of her peculiar matrimonial arrangements, is outcast. That explains a lot.

Strange as it may seem,we have a Brahmin caste in the US:

I was born in the City of Boston
The Land of the Beans & Cod
Where Cabots only speak to Lowells
And Lowells only speak to God

Yes,you are right.P.V.Gopalan was Ms Harris’ grandfather. His daughter Shyamala Gopalan was Ms Harris’ mother who entered a “peculiar matrimonial arrangement” with a gentleman from Jamaica which lasted from 1963 to 1971.

Kamala Harris’s Mom, Shyamala Gopalan, Inspires Kamala Every Day

A couple of years ago I was walking in the park and, without much thinking, plopped down at the park bench near the bearded Hindu guy who was giving advice to the Hindu woman respectfully standing if front of him.

Which caused quite a consternation.Anyway, later on we became friends.Probably that Hindu guy-a High Priest at the local Temple-came to the conclusion that I am not as bad as the rest of them.

He gave me his visit card which entitles me to substantial discounts and preferential treatment at the Indian restaurants and other places of business.

Now we both occasionally sit at this sacred bench,he is giving advice and I keep my mouth shut and do my best to look like American Brahmin.

Also I read a couple of popular books about Hinduism which qualifies me to voice opinions on Ms Harris.Subject to the approval of my Brahmin friend.

    Hi Mr. Kunstler,
I like the speculative nature of your post because it mirrors the conspiracy theory approach rife on the Internet. “But the dodgy primary victory of Mr. Biden — especially the Super Tuesday vote that mysteriously elevated him from the crypt of loserdom to a triumph of the undead — was itself probably an act of DNC-sponsored voter fraud.” There would have been a time when you would have rolled your eyes at people saying that kind of stuff. Feel free to provide the evidence that it is true. What you have is an ourobourous of self pleasuring right wing websites pedalling anything they can to help keep Mr. Trump in power. And I am afraid that self reinforcing interpretive dances are not evidence, even if you and others like what they have to say.

As for wondering what the beef is that Democratic Party folks have about voter ID rules, saying that “voter ID amounts to voter suppression”? I think the issue is not voter IDs per se, but the way that voter ID is used to support certain groups at the expense of others. So, you talk about the good ol’ days, maybe the fifties. People come to a town, and stay. And they get registered, and they vote there for a long long time, in some little country town etc. Economic times are good, and the climate is always sunny, except for well-behaved rain. All well and good, but if you need a stable address to vote in the upcoming election, you could be well and truly hosed today–in the time of COVID, climate disruption, and economic catastrophe, as you could be facing eviction, moving to look for an illusory job, trying to find something an election official might believe, etc. If we required the level of ID that some states have now, back in the Great Depression–a lot of Americans would not have been able to vote because they had no permanent home with which to show a utility bill–yeah, I am looking at you Texas!. https://www.ncsl.org/research/elections-and-campaigns/voter-id-history.aspx. Voter ID is a fairly recent invention that has become stricter and more pervasive over time.

Anyway, for someone who champions freedom in this country, you have remarkably little to say about the way in which states have been making it harder and harder for people to exercise their freedom to vote, especially if you happen to be poor or have few resources. And if poorer people–citizens–have a harder path to voting than wealthier people and poorer people vote for your party in larger percentages than another group less impacted by voter ID laws, well then, Mr. Kunstler, you have an explanation you can weigh as to why Democratic officials don’t like some voter ID laws. But you know all this as you are an intelligent man well versed in the nuances of this issue. If I was to speculate on why you write the things you do sometimes, I do wonder if the “red meat” that you offer is designed in part to get people who really believe your claims to support you on Patreon?

    • Kim August 17, 2020 at 11:48 pm #

      @ abcdef

I tried to follow your argument in paragraph 2. Is this a good summary?

      1) Some eligible US citizens may not be able to vote in a particular district because they have not been resident there long enough to be able to provide documentation proving their residence.

      2) Eligible US citizens who live a transient lifestyle may not have the documentation that would allow them to vote in a certain area the are passing through.

If this the basic problem as you see it? If so, then I don’t understand how the proposed mail voting would help such people? After all, such transient eligible citizens would not have a mailing address anyway, right? So where would you mail their ballots? How would you know they had received them? And how would you know what area/ballot would the right ballot for that person? And many other problems…

      • abcdef August 18, 2020 at 12:02 pm #

        Hi Puzzled,
Perhaps you missed the bit about economic disruption, climate disruption, and, um, pandemic disruption. And the impact these have given stricter more pervasive laws concerning voter ID. In the same paragraph…

Yes, of course, you raise good points about needing an address to get a mail in ballot, Puzzled, but doing so while ignoring what I was speaking to, is not a good look.

And, puzzled or not, you would agree that with voter ID laws as they are now, many people wouldn’t have been able to vote during the Great Depression. And assuming that they would have more likely voted for FDR, hmm … well the implications of that are interesting, right? Sort of like now.

        • Kim August 18, 2020 at 9:32 pm #

So I say “Where would they send the ballot”? and your answer is “Good point. Now I will ignore it.”

          Gee, thanks.

          • abcdef August 19, 2020 at 2:52 am #

            You know Kim,
If you want to avoid the FACT that voter ID laws discriminate against people who do not have an address, go for it. I don’t know how often you can choose to ignore that this is the focus of my criticism of those who complain that Democratic Party folks think that some voter ID rules are designed to suppress the vote. Check out Texan requirements for example. They require an address for the most part. So, it appears, according to you, that that doesn’t matter. I disagree with you.

And I noticed that you haven’t considered the question I have asked twice. Keep ignoring the issue of what to do in a time of great disruption. “Those folks” probably wouldn’t vote for the people you want in power, so, don’t worry about their right to vote.

The answer–allow folks without an address to vote. Anathema!!! Is this Kim’s view? Who knows–you want to avoid looking at it head on.

    • SoftStarLight August 18, 2020 at 2:00 am #

Thank you for letting us know that you do not consider interpretive dance to be evidence. But life is actually one big dance in another view. But what does it all mean Cargill? Do you know and do you care? Registering to vote is so easy and can be done online in most states. It seems like only people who support voter fraud keep at it with these arguments nowadays about how hard it is to vote. Or perhaps they think things are what they aren’t cuz they don’t live here in the first place.

      • abcdef August 18, 2020 at 12:04 pm #

        Hi SoftStarLight,
Yes, I love metaphor as well! Life is a dance.
And if you could prove widespread voter fraud, then I think you might have a point. But no one has. And that is also a point.

        • JohnAZ August 18, 2020 at 12:46 pm #

Uh, in case you have not noticed, the voter fraud investigations have all been done by Deep State investigators. Funny they have not found anything.

        • SoftStarLight August 18, 2020 at 1:49 pm #

No amount of evidence will change your mind and we already know that. You already know that Democrats are the establishment power and thus the laws are all utilized to produce outcomes they wish for in most instances, but of course I’m sure you disagree with that too. Thus there is no real interest in even looking into the matter. Especially when the minority party is seeking to have the issue addressed.

          • abcdef August 18, 2020 at 6:16 pm #

            Hi John AZ and SoftStarLight.

I am unsure which point of view to consider most deeply. With JohnAZ, it is the claim that I am taken in by the evidence of the “deep state.” With SoftStarLight, it is that I won’t look at the evidence. So, you can guess that neither of your arguments impresses me. Combining your claims suggests that you have evidence for your claim! What is it? Is it anything more than supposition, anecdote, or just having some plain fun with numbers, because, you know, “deep state shenanigans” are stopping the real story from coming out? Or are you caught up in supporting your side no matter what evidence I could bring to muster? I would be interested in the statistical analysis that you are using to support your claim… or something else, if you really hate modelling–to back this belief you both have that there is widespread voter fraud. How about it?.

Just as an Occam’s razor moment–what is more likely–Trump won despite massive fraud that nobody on your side of the aisle can actually document. OR, Trump won because of massive fraud that nobody on our side of the aisle can actually document? Or, there wasn’t massive fraud, and Trump won with a little help from some Eastern friends; Putin you old dog!

          • abcdef August 18, 2020 at 6:22 pm #

            Oh and JohnAZ and SoftStarLight,

The way Heritage also presents this info on the link is suspicious, right? No timeline, just cases. For example, if you look at NY–I chose it because it is a big state, https://www.heritage.org/voterfraud/search?state=NY&combine=&year=&case_type=All&fraud_type=All&page=1.

That is 22 cases beginning in 1983 for NY, up to the present day.

If this is your definition of “widespread” then so be it. We don’t agree on what that word means.

I am more worried about electronic voting without a receipt or written record as such. That seems like a recipe for disaster.

          • JohnAZ August 18, 2020 at 8:20 pm #

Only one way to prove it one way or the other, paper one by one ballots. Dip you finger in ink to show you have voted. Clean up all voting registration rolls to eliminate dead people.

The real problem since 2000 is that the voting differences are so small that the statistical voting methodologies no longer work. The small variations like chads, computer glitches, make a difference. As deviations become more important, calling them out as problems becomes more insistent. The postal idiocy right now is a gigantic step backwards as the variability of reliability of delivery in the USPS is not good. If they get postal voting in, the reliability of voting integrity is gone. The judicial decision system will run the elections as the voting procedure will be unable to do so. Will never work.

          • abcdef August 19, 2020 at 3:13 am #

            Hi JohnAZ,
The issues you raise deal with the imperfections of voting, NOT deliberate voter fraud. I grant that this is an issue–2000 and the “hanging chad…” comes to mind. But I don’t support your claim about postal fraud–we have a record that shows that postal voting works. A majority of states do it without significant problems–even SoftStarLight’s link above to Heritage shows that!

One other thing, I look at the moves the administration have made to undermine the US Postal Service. As a thought experiment, what do you think the tenor of comments would be here if Obama was in power and was complaining about the postal service and fraud and was taking away resources the way that the Trump Administration is doing. I submit that many would be screaming blue bloody murder over the terrible way Obama was trying to steal the election, and that the USPS needed to be defended from the likes of Obama (including Mr. Kunstler!). You know it would be so. So, the only difference, as far as I can see is that the president is someone most folks here like, politically. And liking someone’s politics because it aligns with my politics is not enough reason for me to support such action as is being undertaken by the President and his administration right now.

Another thought: How does a party that controls 2.5 of 3 branches of government, a majority of the governorships and a clear majority of state legislatures get to cry that the “Democratic Party is going to steal the election”? You can make a case, but I think it is weak sauce when you start from the premise of who holds power in this country.

    • sophia August 18, 2020 at 3:17 pm #

A couple of the problems you mention are irrelevant (climate change) or recent (covid) but the argument predates covid. It might be necessary to have an address to get an ID started – you’ve got to have some documents – but I am pretty sure you don’t need to have an address to vote. I’m pretty sure you don’t need one if you’re homeless either, but you do need to have things like a birth certificate or SS card if you have no ID at all. They have to start somewhere. But if you’re talking about the homeless population, that is a very small group to be using to make our elections insecure. Maybe they are gaining traction (voter ID laws) partly because there are now more ways to cheat or cheating has become a more visible issue.

      • abcdef August 19, 2020 at 2:59 am #

Why would you think they are irrelevant, Sophia? As for getting a voter ID. Texas says:
“Do not possess and cannot reasonably obtain one of these IDs? Fill out a declaration at the polls describing a reasonable impediment to obtaining it, and show a copy or original of one of the following supporting forms of ID:
        « A government document that shows your name and an address, including your voter registration certificate;
        « Current utility bill;
        « Bank statement;
        « Government check;
        « Paycheck; or
« (a) A certified domestic (from a U.S. state or territory) birth certificate or (b) a document confirming birth admissible in a court of law which establishes your identity (which may include a foreign birth document).” https://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/forms/id/poster-11×17-aw-voter.pdf The thing about those documents is that they usually require a residence. If you have a birth certificate, cool, but, not everybody has one of those, and you have to show an ID to get one. So, it is a vicious circle…

        • sophia August 19, 2020 at 9:11 pm #

I think climate change is certainly irrelevant to voter ID. Yes, it is tough to be homeless and have no ID of any sort. Pretty rare. My brother was homeless for 30 years in Los Angeles but had a state ID and did vote. Now his ID has lapsed and they require a lot more ID to get a driver’s license or state IDs in general, a change I am not in favor of. A fair number of homeless people do get govt checks for disability or social security. I mean, very few people could not get ahold of one of those listed documents. Also, how many people who could not get one actually want to vote? Because if this is a problem for you anyone can write to the country where they were born and get a replacement birth certificate.
And it is actually reverse racism when people pretend that it suppresses the black vote to require ID. Do we think that blacks are too stupid en masse to have an address, a birth certificate, or a check? Most people do have that. Only the most down and out street people do not have any of the above, and at least half or probably closer to 100% of such people are deep into mental illness or alcoholism/drug addiction. Should we then overturn our election process to accommodate them? Should we allow more voter fraud to accommodate them.

Although with the economic devastation wrought by the Democratic Deep State we may soon be seeing more normal people end up on the street.
They, however, will tend to have ID.

It is hard to imagine that a typical Black voter would be drawn to the Dem ticket simply because there is a woman who is half Black (but not African American Black).

Then again, what proportion of Black voters are going to read in detail the background of Kamala Harris? If they do read the details they would discover very little reason to feel affinity between Ms Harris and their own life experience.

Personally, I am struck by the fact that Ms Harris married a Jew (a White) at the untypical age of 49 and has no biological children. She is said to be the step-mother of her husband’s 2 daughters from a previous marriage.

The more one reads the less savory the details appear to be. What I see is a person (a woman) with overwhelming political ambition.

Be sure to stick around to the end, too: There appears to be hard evidence that John Podesta is “war gaming” a plan around the Mailbox Conspiracy. And this plan ends in trying to have the military remove Trump.

This is nearly as good as the idea that Donald Trump was groomed from a young age to become president in 2016, fulfilling Dark Lord Putin’s aspriations of global domination.

      Unfathomable muppetry awaits.

      • cc rider August 18, 2020 at 7:08 am #

      • BackRowHeckler August 18, 2020 at 7:17 am #

As far as those USPS blue collection boxes go, there has been an initiative to phase those out since 2001 as part of an anti terrorism effort. Actually it goes back to Wall Street in 1920, when anarchists detonated explosives inside one, killing about 40 people.

        • GreenAlba August 18, 2020 at 9:36 am #

The IRA were into that for a while.

Street waste bins too. They were sealed up for the duration and replaced by the ones with a transparent plastic bag hanging from a metal ring.

And for years we weren’t able to use Left Luggage facilities anywhere. Or put down your bag and not be right beside it, lest army personnel be called to clear the building and execute a controlled explosion of your backpack.

Leaving that aside, voting on one day presumably isn’t an immutable law of the universe. Is there any reason why the law can’t be changed so that in-person voting happens over several days (as presumably postal voting routinely does), to keep the queues down, if people are concerned about that? Old and vulnerable people can still have a postal vote as normal.

When I get to the church hall, there are about four tables, alphabetically sorted according to street names. Voting days could be allocated similarly nationwide – or according to your own name. We don’t have ‘voting machines’ – I don’t know what voting machines do – so there can’t be a shortage of them. My name and address gets crossed off a list with a pen and a ruler after the two people at the desk double-check with each out loud. Low tech. No ID as such. They often don’t even look at my ballot card.

Never seen a queue, though, of more than a few people waiting at a table at peak times. Even manned a table myself decades ago. It was a long and tedious day – no recollection of any queues worthy of the name. And yet it was 1979 – turnout was 76% and birthed the Thatcher age. Maybe you need to have a lot more polling stations in busy places?

Anyway, if it was done over more than one day, you’d just need to take the boxes at the end of the day and keep them under lock and key till they were all in. You could even leave them there for a couple of days at the end so that any virus on them was dead. The suspense would doubtless kill a few people, but I’m sure it would be better than civil unrest because nobody believes the result.

I have no axe to grind in the matter. I don’t care for Trump as a person but the Dems do sound like shockingly dishonest grifters. So I think the magic result would just be one where the majority was very significant, so that people would just shut up and get on with all the jobs that need to be done.

Like fixing roads and bridges before they all crumble. And getting Big Medicine and Big Pharma under control before everyone is bankrupt.

I prefer not to intervene in your electoral affairs, so that’s my tuppence-worth. I’m sure there will be a reason why a multi-day election can’t work, like not enough volunteers or something. That might happen anyway. So give them proper, medical-grade masks, perhaps.

Anyway, if Sri Lanka can do it, so can you. Seventy percent turnout too. Although they did it in one day. But whatever helps.

I hesitate to suggest things would be any better here. Britain under Boris is proving to be an omnishambles (I did warn). Or perhaps more of an omnishambles than usual. Which makes me fear for a Scottish independence vote in due course. Nicola’s star is rising because Boris couldn’t organise the proverbial piss-up in a brewery. Damn. And when things get tough, Boris disappears from view. During the current school results/university entrance fiasco, it was joked at one point that he might be on a witness protection programme. Digressing, sorry.

Voter fraud has never been considered much of a thing over here. The electoral register (although it includes birth and citizenship details) is the same as the list used for local house valuation registers, which, in turn are used to issue council tax demands. Council tax is paid by occupiers, rather than being a wealth tax paid only by owners, although sometimes it will be paid by an owner who recoups it from a tenant along with the rent. Some people have in the past tried to avoid it by not getting themselves on the electoral register, specifically during the brief poll tax adventure that helped seal Maggie’s demise after rioting in the streets. Fun times.

I interrupt all things Kamalamadingdong and the DNC with some fascinating COVID news.

It involves the concept, okay fact of herd immunity which Dr. Fauci and other agenda driven doctors seem to deny even exists anymore with viral outbreaks. Or maybe it is just not relevant for THIS virus, since it is…you know…the Trump Virus.

    Enough talk. Here ya go:

“What if ‘Herd Immunity’ Is Closer Than Scientists Thought?”

(And believe it or not, this article first appeared in the NY Times).

    • GreenAlba August 18, 2020 at 9:23 am #

It’s not really news, ccrider. I’ve seen estimates of less than 50% weeks ago and more. Some considerably lower. They’re still all just models, though, and, as the article points out, there’s a huge local variation according to demographics.

It’s still good news, though, even if it’s not exactly new.

Herd immunity hasn’t been denied as a concept, it’s just that it becomes less meaningful if it only lasts a couple of months. Or if some people don’t produce antibodies at all. Obviously death rates can only fall (barring dangerous mutations, as in the case of ‘Spanish’ flu, which aren’t looking likely ATM), as the low-hanging fruit drops first.

There’s no longstanding herd immunity to the common cold, but regular and repeated succumbing to it increases your immunity generally (not sure that would work for people who are getting dangerous Covid sequelae like repeated blood clotting).

It has been suggested that one of the reasons children are less susceptible to bad effects from Covid might be that their bodies are basically little corona-antibody factories generally for much of the early years of their lives, as they get one cold after another (not that all cold viruses are corona viruses of course). But that’s just a guess at this stage, along with the general hypothesis that other corona antibodies might help with Covid immunity, in the way that a flu vaccination can help even if it’s not based on exactly the current iteration of the flu.

      • cc rider August 18, 2020 at 10:27 am #

Thankfully though for the first time in the history of human civilization we are about to have a vaccine for a coronavirus. Maybe it will lead to a common cold vaccine. The coronavirus variety, that is.

        • GreenAlba August 18, 2020 at 12:17 pm #

I’m keeping an open mind. 🙂

          • GreenAlba August 18, 2020 at 12:18 pm #

Not on the common cold bit…

          • cc rider August 18, 2020 at 4:16 pm #

Well, you know the old saying, “There is no cure for the common cold”. I’m assuming this is because there has never been a cure or even a vaccine for the coronavirus family of viruses. Yes, I do know that other viruses also cause the “common” cold. But still, I am very skeptical of a successful vaccine for this or any other coronavirus.

          • GreenAlba August 19, 2020 at 5:52 am #

I remain sceptical too. It’s the only way to be until something has proven itself. If it proves itself, that will clearly be a different matter.

      • JohnAZ August 18, 2020 at 12:54 pm #

Looking at the daily report on new cases, the sun belt is declining across the board. Arizona has gone from 5000/day to less than 500.

Where the hell are the investigators to find out why?

Right now, mitigation seems to be the culprit as the heat wave continues. 104 right now. I have noticed the number of folks with masks on has increased. I wonder if the anti-maskers had taken it seriously and just practiced safe distancing in Feb. we might all be back at normal activity right now.

        • sophia August 18, 2020 at 4:44 pm #

Soemwhere in Arizona the teachers threw a spanner into the works of opening schools with 100 teachers calling out sick.

Oh, God, John, masks make a tiny difference if at all, and if they do anything it isn’t going to be in Arizona but maybe on cities with buses and subways.

I think I can tell you why. All epidemics behave that way.

          • JohnAZ August 18, 2020 at 8:07 pm #

Arizona has big city and mass transit. We know so little about the beast, we do not know what spreads it. The school district is having big repercussions but I believe the real problem is fear from not knowing what to expect and allowing the idiot politicians make the decisions.

The surge model for epidemics is real. What was different here was the invasion of election year 2020 and the transmissibility of the virus being so high. Scared the hell out of the healthcare system.

We do not know if masks matter. If the model I believe in is true, that the virus transmits through the air by just being there, projectile movement of the biomass by sneezes, coughs, speaking etc will be blocked by any barrier, not the virus itself, the projected air. The latest info is showing that ventilation systems are contributing to the spread, and masks may block mass transfers of air volumes into contact.

Something has changed in the sunbelt that’s is reducing the new case load. What is it? That is my complaint!

          • abcdef August 19, 2020 at 11:52 am #

            Hi JohnAZ,
Following the logic of your posts, I expect that since more people are taking COVID seriously in the Sun Belt that they are practicing the precautions that experts have been suggesting for the last few months. And that appears to be working to reduce spread. We are Europeans and Koreans now! That may be correlation, but it is more likely causation. Just saying.

      • Sredni Vashtar August 18, 2020 at 9:40 pm #

Many people are just immune, period. The healthy as Akmo says. Are there bugs that could take them down? Quite possibly, though he might disagree. But this one, at least in this regard, seems to follow the general Corona mold. We have long experience with these in the West. Indian immigrants used to be terrified of them though – perhaps they lacked our inborn tendency towards immunity.

It looks like they’re using the Covid 19 pandemic to get political advantages? In Hong Kong, the Chinese government dumped a lot of Covid 19 cases on the streets of Hong Kong to create a big jump in case numbers as an excuse to postpone elections. I think that it was in Slovenia (?) where the government before the elections declared that there were no Covid 19 cases, and then immediately after the election declared that there was an out-of-control Covid 19 pandemic.

    We’re totally fucked….

I suspect that we’ve “progressed” way beyond Voting? Our legal system is premised upon “The Reasonable Person Standard”. Everything only works as long as people are “Reasonable”. But so many things have mentally gone awry, I’m not sure if Humpty can be put back on the wall? For example, Abortion: I suppose that one could make a case for Abortion under narrow conditions and in extreme cases? But once they start arguing for a woman’s right to abort a baby up until the moment of birth and after birth, and for the for profit sale of the aborted baby’s body parts, then that’s way beyond the pale of the Reasonable Person Standard. Similarly, the preoccupation with 57 different genders is Nutty. Or, fabricating a false reality about Michael Brown, Treyvon Martin, or George Floyd…. These people cannot be reasoned with.

    • beantownbill. August 18, 2020 at 12:17 pm #

I believe a new concept should come into play. Let’s call it “retrospective abortion”, wherein an undesirable can be aborted up to 30 years after birth.

      • SoftStarLight August 18, 2020 at 2:00 pm #

I feel like it’s a dark concept. How come you stopped at 30? Does an “undesirable” 30 year old become “desirable” at 31?

        • beantownbill. August 18, 2020 at 2:26 pm #

You have to stop somewhere. If I said 40, you could say 41.

      • benr August 19, 2020 at 9:46 am #

Don’t joke there are crazy progressives saying abortion to three years old should be allowed.

        • beantownbill. August 19, 2020 at 11:26 am #

Obviously I was joking with an added dose of sarcasm. I wouldn’t worry about 3-year-olds being aborted. There would be a revolution if that happened. Also, think about all the surviving kids’ permanent emotional issues: You better be good, Billy, or else I’m going to have you killed.”

    • SoftStarLight August 18, 2020 at 1:58 pm #

Exactly. Like there is no amount of persuasion and discussion that works. Because of our diversity we have fractured into many diverse and parallel realities now. All of these reality bubbles are bumping into each other and some of them are going to burst. So doesn’t it kinda come down to making sure that we don’t let them burst our bubble so to speak? If we are unable to agree on the basics of reality, how can a stable society develop?

      • beantownbill. August 18, 2020 at 2:29 pm #

It’s not so much diversity, it’s because of hyper-complexity that there’s such fracturing.

        • Disaffected August 18, 2020 at 6:26 pm #

Hyper-stupidity’s no doubt playing a part as well. Let’s face it, the modern rabble ain’t the brightest cohort to ever draw breath.

      • Sredni Vashtar August 18, 2020 at 9:35 pm #

Well said. Beans disagrees only to agree with a different words. Diversity=Complexity. Disastrous when it comes to any society.

        • SoftStarLight August 19, 2020 at 3:01 am #

Yes. He seems to prefer to avoid the issues of diversity and ethnic differences on most occasions. It’s like a conservative who will only talk about how conservatism applies to economics but refuses to see any use for conservatism in social life.

          • beantownbill. August 19, 2020 at 11:57 am #

In the universe, there’s several different classes of stars. There’s different classes of planets in our own solar system. There’s several different classes of galaxies throughout the cosmos. The point being that diversity is wholly natural.

We may not like diversity in America, but tough shit, that’s the way it is. One of our tasks as humans is to learn how to get along with others. That falls on ALL different groups. If one group hates another and won’t change, it’s the job of the hated group to find ways to ameliorate the situation. It’s not fair, but since when did fairness ever exist in life?

You want to split up the country into several parts, each ruled by a separate group? Would never work.

Let’s say Blacks get their own country here in parts of the South. What about the Blacks who live in the North and want to stay? How do we enforce the borders – we can’t even effectively protect our southern border. How do we know any given Black walking by is a foreigner, or a citizen? Look at illegal Mexicans

So what else is there to do? Round up all Blacks and ship them elsewhere? Where is elsewhere? Even if a safe haven for them is found, it would be almost impossible to get everyone out of America. What about 1/2 Black, or 1/4, who stays or goes? What about very light-skinned Blacks. What happens 20 years later when one is found out, somehow?

This whole discussion is very distasteful to me and I certainly am not for any of the above, but I want to show the whole idea of separation is not workable. American Blacks are here to stay.
Put your mental energy to use in positive ways to find how to live together. Admittedly, it won’t be easy. And if we can’t find any way, then maybe it would be best if humanity goes extinct because of our flaws.

          • Sredni Vashtar August 19, 2020 at 12:31 pm #

We were 90% White until your lobby overthrew our immigration laws favoring Europeans and threw us open to the world. A good thing? Yeah just like opening the hull of a Ship to the sea. The weaker we are, the stronger you are – that was the reasoning. True – until it all falls apart.

          • SoftStarLight August 19, 2020 at 12:32 pm #

You’re right Bill. Diversity is natural and we certainly don’t disagree there. But that fact alone doesn’t imply that distinct groups therefore cannot be allowed to have their own spaces. Obviously within the natural ecology the various species of living things occupy various and diverse niches. So actually the natural order would appear to both support diversity as well as levels of separation at one and the same time. I suppose I can understand why you may find this line of discussion distasteful, however, it is a conversation that is occurring with much greater frequency these days among the various ethnic groups within the country. BLM is most definitely an unabashed Black Nationalist/Separatist movement. The Hispanics have La Raza. Whites actually have no formal representation because the federal government would intervene if they did. I am not following the logic within your final paragraph. It sounds like you are saying that you would rather have humanity go extinct rather than re-adopt the typical ethno-tribal social structures that were actually the norm for most of history. It sounds like a very extreme position. Why try to live with people who hate you? Rather it seems it would be better to build community with those who accept you as one of their own.

California is a liberal, changeable bellwether State and has been for decades.

        Colorado, too, somewhat!

I notice in spite of what the political situation is, neither state has made renewable energy even approach fossil fuels.

So much for GND feasibility. Libs, you cannot Force the impossible down people’s throats. The only place I have personally seen wind energy utilized to a large degree is Palm Springs, Ca. I am always amazed at the amount of leaky lubricating OIL dripping down the towers. I will bet that near 100% of the anti-Fossil fuel folks do not have a clue what they are talking about. The Long Emergency needs to be required reading at secondary level of school. Maybe if people understood what is being BSed about by the GND folks, they would not be buffaloed by these people. I lived there and it is always hot as hell in the high desert this time of year and back then hardly anyone had AC.
I know it’s cliché to say but normally the heat is low humidity so it’s not that bad.
You learn to drink lots of water and Ice tea and hang out in the shade under a tree.
Newhall, Canyon Country, Saugus, Castaic, and Valencia used to be so nice in the 70’s and 80’s but Newhall land and farm destroyed the area with all the housing tracts and now its just super crowded and noisy.

To get away from the heat one can go to several of the lakes nearby or drive the 50 miles to Ventura, Oxnard or Malibu if the traffic will let you.

Is there any commenter out there with expertise in linguistics, since I have none, who can explain to me the difference between saying people of color rather than colored people? This is a great bone of contention and I have never been able to figure out why. I have raised this question more than once in the past. I feel that White people are being led around by the nose on the issue of how Black people may be referred to.

    • Kim August 18, 2020 at 10:50 pm #

The answer is simple. In former times “colored people” was how people were referred to up in the plantation big house. You will find this is old movies and books.

So “colored people” is out at the moment. No doubt sometime in the future they will decide to “proudly reclaim” it but at the moment it is a big no for the woke to used that term.

But – because it is a way to keep whitey always off balance and apologizing – the people who control black-related strategizing like to change things up every few years. Of course, once they have cycled through black, negro, and other terms they are eventually going to have to re-cycle them.

So the use of “people of color” is just another variant, a goodthinker password, a shibboleth.

But whatever you do, don’t say “colored people”, because that has the stink of Jim Crow.

“Oh my, Lordy, when you say “colored people”, I swear, I feel like I cain’t breathe!”

      • Sredni Vashtar August 18, 2020 at 11:10 pm #

Yes to all of the above. Just to add: because it does not have these specific connotations, POC can be extended to include all Non-Whites, all the good people!

      • Ricechex August 18, 2020 at 11:49 pm #

Excellent point Kim. In the 60’s and up until the early 90’s the term was “black.” Then, the term was “African American” which I always found too wordy. Looks like they are back to “black” now and I hardly ever hear the term “African American.” Seemed like it happened over night.

    • JohnAZ August 18, 2020 at 10:53 pm #

What is the delineation point between “people of color” and White people? Who is the real band people with all the “protests”? I have heard BLM is getting pissed at the white anarchists for ruining their show. But then, who is white and who is black, in the first place.

Here is a clue. It makes no difference as the splitting element is economic condition, and the huge onset of the gimme class. Blacks, because of their coddling by the Dems since the sixties, are just paramount in the gimme class. But then again, who is white and who is black?

      • Sredni Vashtar August 18, 2020 at 11:15 pm #

Whites are the people who built Western Civilization. Get some pride, will ya?

This kind of corporate, organization man mentality was cultivated to bring forth Globalism. For your level of the Pyramid. Resentment of Whites was cultivated for the POC. The People in the Capstone are very proud of their bloodlines, thank you very much. But the rage of the untermensch will be against the Whites they get to – like you!

          Western civilization?

          Egyptians, very dark complexions?

Greeks, darker than White, same with the Romans.

Northern Europeans? There you go, White, no pink?, no flesh colored?

Western civilization is comprised of so many hues, complexions. Which one do you refer to as Western Civilization?

Oh yeah, the Aryan Race, right?

Today’s problems have nothing to do with complexion, but the economic opportunities of people. If one group cannot compete, they either die or figure out a way to compete.

Or get some some dumbs**t group of idiots to hand it to them on a platter. Hint: they are not just black versus white.

          • Sredni Vashtar August 19, 2020 at 12:26 am #

Race is just skin color. Everything else is exactly the same. Send a billion Blacks to China and give them Mao’s Little Red Book as they get off the ship and they’ll fit right in. Or a hundred million to America, giving them the Bible and the Art of the Deal as they step off.

This is the mentality of the Enemy, so assiduously cultivated in the fertile, passive minds of the defeated West. Thus does the Wasp lay its eggs into the body of catapillar – and they eat their way out.

Watch the movie “Alien”. John is the guy with the alien inside him.

Hint: Yes, John – it’s more than just Black vs White. But it’s Black vs White too. It’s racial if they say it is – and they do. It only takes one to start a fight. So you’re wrong – even within your own incorrect blank slate paradigm.

        • EnterpriseSpaceship August 20, 2020 at 8:17 am #

Don’t miss out mentioning fossil fuels when it comes to what has built our Western Civ.

The most hated subject for our Civilisation remained Energy, and how “Energy, like time, only flows from past to future“.

      • Majella August 19, 2020 at 6:48 am #

JohnAZ – how can you be so right, but for the wrong reasons?

You’re right -the difference is economics. Shitty wages with no security, no benefits, no guaranteed healthcare is modern poverty. It doesn’t matter what color you are.

Why is asking for a living wage (a fecking measly $15 an hour, fercrissakes) condemned as being the “gimme” class? If you look at the rest of Western Civ, you’ll learn that this is the STANDARD, nit some freakish socialist nightmare hellscape!

        • Majella August 19, 2020 at 6:57 am #

To expand, in response to the ugly bullshit of Skorenzy – it IS true that there’s a black/white dichotomy. This is most evident in the swathes (or is that ‘swatches’???) of white Trump supporters living in trailer parks on zero-hour contracts for minimum wage.

          • benr August 19, 2020 at 11:10 am #

No, dipstick. I’m saying that any job should pay a dignified wage.

            Ah, the magic of “should”.

It is funny to see comments like these on a site that foregrounds the notion of resource constraints and how they constrain human choice.

In this respect, this is an economics blog. So why would someone like you, who knows as much about economics as Fido does physics, always be chipping in your over-valued 2 cents here?

Is it just another case of the curse of rampant Dunning-Kruger* in an internet commentariat?

            Dunning-Kruger effect
In the field of psychology, the Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which people with low ability at a task overestimate their ability. It is related to the cognitive bias of illusory superiority and comes from the inability of people to recognize their lack of ability.

Reading the above must feel like you are looking in a mirror.

        • benr August 19, 2020 at 11:13 am #

Measly $15 why not $50 an hour to flip burgers and wait tables?
Maybe the workers should make exactly the same amount as the business owners you know the ones taking all the risks and working 15 hour days to keep their business afloat.

Since you have zero clue about what it takes to run a business I understand why you are so CLUELESS about costs and expenses but posts like the above further prove JUST how out of touch you are with reality.

I suppose using a broom to remove rubbish is a racist wolf whistle.

    • Sredni Vashtar August 18, 2020 at 11:18 pm #

Littering is very important to some Blacks. I saw a video once where a Black girl dropped some trash on the street and a cop told her to pick it up. When he turned his back, she dropped it again. He saw her and ultimately arrested her. She fought like a demon. Littering was a right in her book.

I saw a Black father teaching his son not to use a trash receptacle, but to just drop it on the floor so Whites would have to pick it up.

      • Ricechex August 18, 2020 at 11:59 pm #

I was about 14 years old and we were stopped at a very busy intersection in Columbus, Ohio. The car in front of us, in the left turn lane, simply opened the door and deposited a bunch of McDonald’s trash right there. Right in the middle of a large intersection. There was no reason to do it. I was horrified.

However, on the other hand, whites trash things in different ways. Ever been to the landfill? It is horrifying too. It is like Mars and there are mattresses and all kinds of junk that people just throw away because they do no want them anymore. People are very very wasteful. What about all those white ANTIFA’s trashing federal buildings? Toppling monuments? I had that same horrible feeling. Destruction for no good reason.

        • Sredni Vashtar August 19, 2020 at 12:18 am #

Yes, inverse creativity. The “Vandals” were a Germanic tribe that apparently specialized in it, thus the extended name.

What to do with all the trash? We need more trash pickers. Maybe bring in a few million from India! But what do with the trash they create? Maybe a few million from China?

        • malthuss August 19, 2020 at 10:27 am #

Rice, in El Ay [not just Compton] people of all types dump their trash in gutter or on walkways.
Homeless seem to be the worst offenders.

    • BackRowHeckler August 19, 2020 at 6:58 am #

Kim, it is unlikely there will be an arrest in this case, and if there was, Chicago prosecutor Kim Foxx would immediately dismiss the charges and release the suspect.

After all, in a city where a typical summer weekend 50 people are shot — all of the POC — what’s one old white guy getting punched out amount to?

A story today may just turn the table with the virus.

    Washington Post. Today

    William Wan

“Young People are Emerging as the Spreaders of the Virus“

The “I am indestructible “ crowd are the primary spreaders of the virus.

    No s**t!

Since spring break and following pictures of beaches and bars showing the close and intimate contact between the young folks following openings and subsequent surges that occurred.

Two months ago, we were told by the experts that Covid did not hardly infect kids and they did not transmit it hardly at all.

That was a bald faced lie. Now that schools are being opened up based on that lie, they are lasted two weeks before shutting down due to quarantines between potential infected people. Surges are occurring everywhere in schools.

Just about everything we supposedly believe about the virus is disputed. When that happens, politicians take over. That IS scary.

    Two solutions.

One, shut down communal teaching and optimize on line teaching. Parents, put you big people panties on and get with the program. After all, you had those kids.

Two, open the suckers wide open and let the virus rip through the schools and follow the surge models. We have no idea of what will ensue as none of the “scientists” have given us a true picture. I do not think it will be pretty though. We will have to get used to higher new case and mortality rates though as the health care system overloads. How do we run schools with infection rates clobbering teachers and kids with high absence rates? Flu has shut down school districts in the past.

The choice will have to be made. Good luck to us.

    • Sredni Vashtar August 19, 2020 at 12:20 am #

Wouldn’t you just love to make them wear their panties on their face? Maybe stapled on? Don’t hold back John. We want to hear it!

    • SoftStarLight August 19, 2020 at 3:18 am #

The virus is beginning to fade away. You are giving us false choices. Sweden never shut its schools down and they’re not having the problems we are allegedly having. The longer things stay closed the more we are permanently damaged. The fear that is instilled and living within you is a deep state success story John. Do you realize they have you indirectly supporting the creation of millions more gimmes? Those you truly despise. Yes. Economic destruction will do that. Let us open up society and let us live our lives.

      • GreenAlba August 19, 2020 at 6:04 am #

” Sweden never shut its schools down and they’re not having the problems we are allegedly having. ”

Sweden shut down its senior schools (post-15/-16) and universities/colleges. Also, many parents of younger children kept them off school anyway, so small classes were quite common.

But I agree that in countries where people are culturally inclined to behave like pro-social Swedes, the Swedish strategy has a better chance of working. In hyper-individualist countries, not so much.

Unfortunately, many people in the latter don’t want things to be open – they insist they be open ONLY on their terms. The issues were never politicised in Sweden, as far as I know. So compromise survives.

        • GreenAlba August 19, 2020 at 6:07 am #

Schools here went back last week. No social distancing being practised among younger children because it’s impossible. Just between adults. We’ll keep you posted. 🙂

As late as last month Slate’s coverage indicated Sweden allegedly doing a terrible job handling the virus. Almost as bad as the US! I don’t buy it but it is out there nonetheless. When will you realize this is going to be made to be a “crisis” no matter what the facts are on the ground? That this is a power grab. And fear is being used as a neutralizing weapon for any questioning and criticism and to ensure total compliance.

WaPo? ‘Nuff said. Let me guess John. You’re old, retired, not in the best of shape, and scared shitless of the mythical virus. Simple solution. Stay in bed all day and watch TV, which you do a lot of already. Try switching to some old comedy movies and series for a change to brighten your mood. Let the younger people run things. They’ve got this.

      • Majella August 19, 2020 at 6:16 am #

        • JohnAZ August 19, 2020 at 10:24 am #

As I have said before, Majella, a few things we agree on.

You desire to pin this on Trump is not one of them. The man took one side of the idiotic “scientific” argue meant that favored the country’s economy. I heard Biden’s talk on the crud and he had zero new ideas what to do. His program has already been done by Trump’s crew.

It is really indicative of the emptiness of the Dem program to listen to the convention. Virus, virus, virus, to a person, that is all they talked about.

      • JohnAZ August 19, 2020 at 10:19 am #

Respectful, trying to avoid a contact with something out of my control. You are correct on your estimate, but I also am in a group that the mortality rate is high. I will try everything to avoid the crud for myself. And wish others would do the same. We are indeed all in this together.

You must be young and feel you are invulnerable to the virus. You are wrong! Period. This virus is taking on all ages with different rates of mortality. Why don’t you go to a virus party?

You know, if everyone respected the crud, any virus, during their respective seasons, maybe we could keep all viruses at bay and have everyone at work with the economy humming. Flu takes out billions of dollars a year in lost wages and productivity.

I hope you do not catch this crud, I would not wish that on anyone. But if you did, it might teach you a little respect for what this crud can do.

I see folks like you, in the Middle Ages, running around telling folks to not worry about those sores under their arms, don’t worry about those rats in the corners, just keep on going as is with your lives. It is only going to kill 1/3 of us, no problems.

    • sophia August 19, 2020 at 8:59 pm #

Oh C’mon John. Are you going to believe any most sensational fearmongering story the corporate whore press puts out even when all the studies worldwide put this one to bed? The Demorat party who controls most of the press and pundits have a very strong desire to oust Trump and are willing to destroy the economy. It’s as simple as that.

If the Electoral College cannot allocate at least 270 votes to any one candidate, which could happen if their vote is split evenly (this would mean 269 electoral votes for each of the two major-party candidates), then the House of Representatives gets to choose the president. Since the House is controlled by Democrats, this should be a slam-dunk for the Democratic candidate. But wait! The 12th Amendment states that when the House votes, each state gets only one vote (and D.C. gets no votes). So, there would be 50 states and 26 would be needed to choose the next president.

Well, how would that shake out with the current House?

These are the states with more Democrats than Republicans among their House delegations:
AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, IL, IA, MA, MD, ME, MI*, MN, NH, NJ, NM, NY, OR, RI, VT, VA, WA (22)

These are the states with more Republicans than Democrats among their House delegations:
AK, AL, AR, FL, GA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MS, MO, MT, NE, NC, ND, OH, OK, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, WV, WI, WY (26)

    These states are tied:
    NV (2 Democrats, 2 Republicans)
    PA (9 of each)

*MI has 14 representatives, 7 are Democrats, 6 are Republicans, and there is 1 Independent, Justin Amash, who was a Republican, but left the party after supporting impeachment of Pres. Trump.

So, it would appear that Trump would win in the case of an Electoral College tie. Of course, this is no guarantee, as he has enemies among House Republicans. Some states, such as MT and WY have only one Representative in the House, so one of them could tip the scales if they changed their vote. Also, there could be special elections prior to November, 2020 if a member of the House resigns or dies…so, stay tuned. Anything can (and likely will) happen!

I came to this question after running my own predictions for the Electoral College result, and got 269 each, a tie. (I came to this by assuming Trump loses Florida and Iowa, but holds all other states that he won in 2016, and the Democrats also pick up Nebraska’s 1st and 2nd districts).

    Hi Kim

I trust you’ve glued your cranium back together since that explosion last thread.

I found it most interesting that you ignored entirely the point of my post re:Biden NOT stumbling & drooling through his speech, but that got most incensed about me using a word in wide-spread usage in the not-American English speaking world, to wit “snazzy”.

Just to set your mind to rest, you arrogant pedagogue, here’s a Millennial Brit reporter who doesn’t share your nasty opinion of the word – Anna Severs of VICE, at minute 8:00 or so…It’s an informative article, so resist your rising bile, and watch it anyway.

Not sure what you are watching but every live video of biden shows him severely out of touch with reality and unable to stay on topic much less make a coherent point.
The only time they can manage to hide this fact is when they produce the videos and if you have an eye for such things you can see they are editing his shit.

Have you noticed, Majella, that the CT fans who have been repeating this trope for six months now (they include SSL and Janos, natch) never mention the Clade X pandemic exercise, also run by Johns Hopkins, in entirely the same vein, except that it was based round a fictional flu-type virus. It was well covered by the press at the time. And a pandemic didn’t follow in real life, because it was er … an exercise. The later one (a corona virus was picked this time because of the ACTUAL SARS-Cov-1 and MERS events) was covered in the Telegraph – less interesting second time around presumably, so less attention.

The September 2018 one was well covered in the press:

And it was 2018, so not CT-friendly enough for the present purpose. Have most of them heard of it? Probably not, because it hasn’t been passed around on the on the CT circuit since January.

‘People who’d been warning for years of our unpreparedness for a pandemic warn again of a pandemic’ shocker. 🙂

        • GreenAlba August 19, 2020 at 8:00 am #

Hospitals routinely run exercises for preparedness for potential major events: rail crashes, airline crashes, terrorist incidents etc. Epidemics, even.

Occasionally these things then happen in real life. Which was, of course, the point of the exercise.

Lordy. Brains must explode. I wonder if there’s an exercise for that.

What intrigues me, but only for seconds at a time, since I have a life, is whether this stuff about ‘ownage’, ‘wreckage’ and the like is a normal part of the life of adults where you live. It’s not even the dumb vocabulary, it’s the actual moronic nature of the concepts, when placed in otherwise adult conversations.

Germans have always seemed to me quite mature. So I have briefly wondered if you are merely a kidult who brought the remnants of his narcissistic adolescence with him as some sort of comfort blanket.

But you did once mention a disappointment with your parents, so perhaps it is something to do with them that your development has been so obviously retarded. I can’t consider your personality problem specifically American because no-one else on this entire board shares your childish narcissism.

BTW, most people on here won’t notice, because they don’t know the rules, but when you accidentally use a German comma in an English sentence, it jars.

            Green Alba

The poster posing as ‘Nightowl’ is clearly a ‘bot. His responses are repetitive and show no signs of progression at all.

Stuck with the limited, pre-programmed vocabulary of an Eastern European coder, its algorithm is probably three or more generations out of date. Its ‘handler’ has moved on to more challenging projects and left it to moulder in a crappy old server running on Windows 95.

          • GreenAlba August 21, 2020 at 11:01 am #

The Narc-troll bot has some sidelines, though. It presumes to vet new posters to someone else’s blog, even though it’s not that long since it was the new boy here.

And now it continues its presumption by telling someone almost twice its claimed age that they don’t know what they’re doing regarding the refurbishment of their own house.

One wonders if there’s a crack somewhere where a virus-sized quantity of humility might have crept in. But one doesn’t wonder for long. Arrogance is pre-programmed.

What does this look like to you? “Equality” is one of those words (like “Freedom”) that raises a big red flag?

“ The 1793 constitution largely incorporated the declaration of rights that Robespierre had proposed in April, with its promise of a right to work. Equality, mentioned but not defined in the 1789 declaration, now got an article of its own and took precedence over liberty.”

Yes, the equality con is an especially egregious manipulation of the lazy and the stupid, whose desire for equality – of outcome of course – is rooted in the belief that they will get more if only someone else gets less, or is held back and achieves less, and that others will continue to provide the lazy and the stupid with everythng that they can’t provide for themselves even when every incentive to strive and achieve has been taken from them.

America is in its jazz age. It can’t get it up anymore. Its elites, foursquare behind Hillary, couldn’t beat Trump. Despite four years of trying, and a legal investigation that took two years and tens of millions of dollars, intel orgs that supposedly get the goods on everyone, they couldn’t get the goods on Trump, a man that spent the bulk of his life in two mobbed up industries, real estate and casinos. Can somebody think of a better term than “pathetic”?

Words fail me today, I can’t think of anything better than “contempt” for that preposterous Senate report accusing the Trump campaign of posing a grave counter-intelligence threat because of its Russian contacts. Please, I’m getting old, I’m afraid of busting a blood vessel laughing.

A few general comments regarding mostly inflation:

The house I live in is 108 years old. Its construction was completed in 1912. We bought the house in June 1978 so we’ve been here 42 years. The house has a slate roof which has required repair many times and slate repairs ain’t cheap. Rather than fix it this time we decided to have a total roof replacement using top notch materials including ’50 year’ shingles. I’ll be lucky to enjoy this new roof for 5 years since I’m almost 80 and nobody in my bloodline has made it past 84.

My wife may enjoy the new roof for 20 years but when ever the house is sold the roof, new rain gutters, etc will be a selling feature. The cost of this new roof equals 43% of what we paid for the entire house and property back in ’78. Gulp!

Two days ago the roofing outfit delivered into my driveway all the required materials plus a dumpster. The next day, yesterday, a crew showed up at 7AM. They were all Hispanic but their crew chief spoke both English and Spanish perfectly. They worked until 7:45PM. Almost 13 hours. How do they do it? And they are back at 7AM again today to continue the job.

My issues with the old slate roof go far beyond the slate itself but I would need to send you pictures (which I can’t) in order for you to understand.

        • Nightowl August 19, 2020 at 1:12 pm #

It does need maintenence, I will admit that. I have a covered outdoor patio on my 30s-era house here in Germany. It has slate covering all of the verticalexterior roof-beam surfaces in order to protect from rain. Works a charm, but they tiles do slip out over time and require repositioning.

It is an incredible material when done well though. We were in Eisenach recently marveling at the work on some of the old villas there. Stunning stuff, and much of it original.

In my mother’s bloodline, there was one 86 year old and one 83 year old, and the rest only made it into their 60’s and 70’s. My sister made it to 84. Yet my mother lived to almost 102. So you can never really assume how long you live. Knowing you, I suspect that you will be correcting people’s grammar when you are 100.

    • BackRowHeckler August 19, 2020 at 12:52 pm #

You gotta watch out with slate roofs. A doctor bought one of the big colonials in the Village on Main Street (c1714), put on a slate roof along with many other improvements. It looked pretty good, but the post and beam construction couldn’t support the weight of the new roof, and the building began to bow out like a cracker barrel. It had to all be stripped off, replaced by an architectural roof.

Houses in Germany are almost always made from stone. Solves the problem.

I do have a thing for older wooden houses though, shoddy as they are.

      • BackRowHeckler August 19, 2020 at 2:48 pm #

Nightowl, you say shoddy but some of those houses have been standing since the 1650s, and the beautiful Congregational Church was put up in 1711. They must have been built pretty good to be standing for that long, specially when you consider they didn’t even have nails yet so had to fasten them together with pegs.

        • Nightowl August 19, 2020 at 2:59 pm #

Well there are Fachwerk houses here with interior structural elements made entirely of wood that have been around since the Middle Ages.

I just mean compared to stone they don’t really compare. They need more repairs and are very susceptible to elemental damage.

I actually prefer wood in terms of the character and atmosphere it affords. It also holds heat better in the winter.

Whoops decent honest old Joe now having to deal with the former husband of Jill Biden coming out about Joe and Jill affair before her divorce from him.

Gee all you people bashing Trump should now hurl insults at Old Joe.

Bill Stevenson on Monday accused the presumptive Democratic nominee of being a home-wrecker and says the feel-good story of how Joe and Jill met on a blind date is completely made up, the Daily Mail reported.

“I don’t want to hurt anyone,” said Stevenson, now 72, who is working on a book that includes the lurid claim. “But facts are facts and what happened, happened.”

Stevenson and his then-wife grew close to Biden in 1972 while working on his first campaign to represent Delaware in the U.S. Senate.

That same year, tragedy struck when Biden’s first wife, Neilia, and infant daughter were killed in a car crash.

Running a senile guy for President? With a fake Black but real Prosecutor to take over for him once he’s in? They’re mocking us. Brass Balls. But this kind of chutzpah takes weak goodness as a rook takes a pawn. It will work unless we call them on it. As Bin Ladin said, If you see a strong horse and a weak horse, you will like the strong one better.

Always just reacting is weak too. One good thing about Trump is his unpredictability. Of course he often doesn’t react properly or at all, and that’s a great weakness.

Probably the Left at the higher level. Why? Because although conservative in a personal sense, they are organization men and obey those above them. Those above the them are Left or Globalist, so they are too – without even thinking about it. Such thoughtlessness is a weakness of this type. Not dumb – you don’t rise that high without a high IQ, but unwilling to use it for higher purposes. Techne only, not praxis. How and what, not why.

Trump is a radical, and conservatives (small c) don’t like radicals.

As he says, some of them may be fine men and not just paper pushers. Brave men who have seen combat and justly earned medals. It just doesn’t matter. This is a limitation of their type qua type. Kunstler’s God haunted Lieutenant from Fallujah will transcend his type and ask why, what is the purpose, what are the limits of lawful authority, and when is right (duty and law), wrong.

I was listening to music on the radio This afternoon and the Beatles song from 1967, “All You Need is Love” started playing. That was so appropriate. The idealist part of me thought if we all practiced indiscriminate love, all the conflict would go away. Too bad most of humanity ignores this.

I’m not religious, but most every poster and certainly the most prolific ones are Christians of many of the sects. The New Testament of the Bible is often quoted. Now forgive a poor Jew who is not well-versed in the New Testament, but I just don’t understand your attitudes. Maybe I’m misinformed, but didn’t Jesus teach we should all turn the other cheek? Was he the one who said to love our neighbor as ourselves (it’s somewhere in the Bible, anyway)?

Seems to me you are hypocrites if you pretend to hold Christian values, but hate or disparage whole groups of people. I don’t think your tri-partate God condones that. And if you can correctly state other New Testament quotes that justify your prejudicial beliefs, then isn’t the New Testament totally contradictory? Just asking.

    • snagglepuss August 19, 2020 at 4:44 pm #

      You’re a gem. One that doesn’t tan but burns…lol.
Never mind that Old Testament B.S. There is one thing only that human beings respond to which is best said here:
‘Revenge is a dish best served cold’.

Don’t get what you mean. Did I say the Old Testament is the real deal? Also, the tan but don’t burn quote is getting old. Be more original!

    • Sredni Vashtar August 19, 2020 at 5:50 pm #

Jesus said, Love your neighbor as yourself. How is giving away all of our lands loving ourselves? Even if we assume “the” stranger (all 100 million of them) is our neighbor, it would still be wrong. We come first. It doesn’t have to be about hatred, but rather a hierarchy of love.

      • beantownbill. August 19, 2020 at 6:29 pm #

Hierarchy of love? I never heard that one before. Love is love. You are pretty good making up ideas, but that characteristic doesn’t mean you are correct. The Bible, as far as I know doesn’t mention hierarchies of love. I’ll give you an “A” for creativity, though.

        • Sredni Vashtar August 19, 2020 at 7:54 pm #

Oh come on. Do your neighbors come first, or your family? Their kids or your kids? Your extended family or your immediate family?
And beyond that, your kinsmen (Tribe) or non-Tribe?

I think you know what I mean. But here’s a more visual image (also not found in the Bible): concentric circles of concern. The innermost, being the nearest and dearest.

          • beantownbill. August 19, 2020 at 10:05 pm #

Ok, that’s a more apt description.

          • GreenAlba August 20, 2020 at 9:09 am #

“Do your neighbors come first, or your family? ”

You forgot the parable that responds to the question ‘who is my neighbour’?

Jesus then points out how love should expand over cultural boundaries and ethnic lines, as the Samaritan is the one who stopped to help. Jews and Samaritans clashed mainly over religious differences, but also cultural differences, which produced hatred among many inside both groups. The Samaritan put aside any negative judgments about the man on the side of the road and chose to delay his errand. Because he put the man before himself, he was truly loving him as a neighbor. This teaches us that our neighbors are not those who simply look, act and think like each of us.

As ever, interpretations vary according to pre-existing beliefs.

          • Sredni Vashtar August 20, 2020 at 1:02 pm #

And you forget to mention, “the” stranger – all the hundred of millions of them wanted to get into the West.

Christ was speaking to normal people who put their own first, not whacked out Liberals who have no families or nations. He would probably tell them to get some special people and put them first.

For the religious and those with a special vocation, no favorites. He spoke mostly from that pov and that is why Christianity is problematic. Remember, Orthodox monks sleep in their coffins. They are DEAD to life. Their attitude cannot govern any society.

          • GreenAlba August 21, 2020 at 10:52 am #

That’s pretty much my point. You can be fully Christian or you can live in the real world and cherry pick. Nothing new under the sun.

But once you’ve realised you’re cherry picking, you should really shut up about the whole thing and stop pretending you’re superior and other people are scum.

The whole point was that Christ didn’t expect the world to continue – he thought it would end in the lifetime of his disciples. Hence all that mattered was a ticket to heaven, not a guide for thousands more years of life.

Well,John Lennon received a modicum of Love from his fan Mark Chapman when he stepped out of Dakota Building in December 1980 to smoke a quick joint in Central Park.

.38 Special Love,to be more precise.

Maybe instead of smoking joints he should remain home and read New Testament:

“And He said unto them, But now, he that hath a Purse, let him take it, and likewise a Wallet; and he that hath none, let him sell his Cloak, and buy a Sword.”

      Luke 22:35-36.

Beatles – as a group and individually – wrote a lot of stupid lyrics.

“Love is All You Need”? Really? Adam Haner stepped forward with love and all he got was the crap beaten out of him.

A man who was brutally beaten in Portland over the weekend was reportedly helping a transgender woman who had just been robbed before a mob attacked him.

“Investigators learned that the victim may have been trying to help a transgender female who had some of her thing stolen in the area of Southwest Taylor and 4th Ave, the location where this incident began. That person has not been contacted and their identity is unknown. Investigators would like to speak to this person,” police said in a statement Tuesday.

I have always – who knows why – remembered a 1930s musical I saw on tv when I was a kid, and one character is lamenting, gee whiz, how stupid the lyrics of his song are and another character bucks him up with the wisdom that “It doesn’t matter how stupid it sounds, as long as you’re singing it!”

I have since often noticed how true that is. There seems to be no one in society more stupid, or more likely to promote destructive ideologies, than our (pop?) lyricists.

As to Lennon himself, the words to “Imagine” are famously stupid. Unless of course the words are ironic, in which case the lyrics may be a triumph of cynical wit.

Back then we the Normies preferred CCR.
I guess CCR were even more popular than Beatles.
But compared to what they broadcast now both Beatles and CCR are classical music.

All you guys are doing is proving one of my points.

    • Kim August 19, 2020 at 9:20 pm #

Seems to me you are hypocrites if you pretend to hold Christian values, but hate or disparage whole groups of people.

As long as we are disingenuously cherry-picking and critiqueing other religious traditons and accusing people of being inconsistent with their teachings, perhaps you could explain a couple from your own religous tradition. I wonder how closely you practise this one from the Talmud?

When a Jew has a Gentile in his clutches, another Jew may go to the same Gentile, lend him money and in turn deceive him, so that the Gentile shall be ruined. For the property of a Gentile, according to our law, belongs to no one, and the first Jew that passes has full right to seize it.

Now forgive a poor non-Jew who is not well-versed in the Talmud, but I just don’t understand the attitudes expressed in these passages. Is your religion realy just a religion of greed and hatred? Or have I misread these passages? Maybe I’m misinformed,

Here is another one on the same topic, that of justifying greed and theft:

That the Jewish nation is the only nation selected by God, while all the remaining ones are contemptible and hateful.

That all property of other nations belongs to the Jewish nation, which consequently is entitled to seize upon it without any scruples. An orthodox Jew is not bound to observe principles of morality towards people of other tribes. He may act contrary to morality, if profitable to himself or to Jews in general.

A Jew may rob a Goy, he may cheat him over a bill, which should not be perceived by him, otherwise the name of God would become dishonoured.

Hmm, strange, but I am sure that once these passages are explained to me I will understand how perfectly well-intended they are.

      • beantownbill. August 19, 2020 at 10:13 pm #

Never said I believed all that shit from any religion. But you have proven to me, at least, that you are a bigot. But that’s all right, I really don’t mind because that’s an entirely human response. I hope that changes or the human race is toast (I’ll still probably be alive when that happens because our time is drawing nearer. Don’t know if that is good or bad luck on my part.).

A black parolee arrested for raping and bashing a white woman on the roof of his Bronx apartment building allegedly told a witness that she “deserved” the brutal attack because of slavery, according to court papers.

“She was a white girl. She deserved it because us minorities have been through slavery,” Temar Bishop, 23, allegedly said to someone who witnessed the bloodied 20-year-old woman after the assaults, according to a criminal complaint.

“This is what they used to do to us. This is what they did to us during slavery. They used to beat us and whip us.”

No. not true. It was ABC11 that carried it, a local affiliate.

And this confirms the point that BRH was making – and this is why he mentioned MSNBC specifically – that these stories don’t get national coverage, unlike the statistically much rarer white-on-black incidents which get blanket, hysterical, and invariably dishonest national coverage .

That’s an everyday observable fact. That’s not a conspiracy theory.

        • Kim August 19, 2020 at 10:33 pm #

As long as you are lecturing the goyim on moral issues, what does the Talmud tell us about killing?

Jews May Rob and Kill Non-Jews, Sanhedrin 57a . When a Jew murders a Gentile (“Cuthean”), there will be no death penalty. What a Jew steals from a Gentile he may keep.

Minor Tractates. Soferim 15, Rule 10. This is the saying of Rabbi Simon ben Yohai: Tob shebe goyyim harog (“Even the best of the gentiles should all be killed”).

Hmm. Enlightening. Now I see what you mean by “there’s a time and place for non-senseless violence”.

She knew the four who killed her from school.

How could she expect they would kill her for her ATM card?

What do you tell a young girl? “Stay away from blacks. Have nothing to do with them.”?

But the media are telling them the opposite: white people are evil; Wakanda is real; blacks are not dangerous.

What can a parent do who wants his daughter to not be one ofthe 37,000 white women raped each year by blacks?

Think about it. That is 100 black-on-white rapes a day inm the United States!

I had this conversation with my daughter that ghetto blacks should be avoided at all costs.
She called me a racists so I took her for a long drive one day up into South Central LA and let her get a good look at what she was calling me a racist about.
It still did not sink in.

A few years later she was cheering for a local junior football team who had a fund raising BBQ event and a water fight broke out in which the cheerleaders were if you can call it winning.
Not to be defeated two of the young black kids decided to piss into a balloon and guess whos daughter got a face full of piss?
Not sure how they managed to fill up a water balloon with piss but they did it.
To say I was infuriated would be an understatement so much so their fat nasty ghetto mother pulled out her bersa .380 from her purse and threatened me with it. I suspect she was only used to men who reacted violently to everything and yes I wanted to beat the crap out of both her kids but that is not how I was raised. I did how ever ask where her baby daddy was finding out he was out of the picture made me realize why her kids were acting like trash.
Even with that I had a man to ignorant spoiled child talk with her two sons about how they should treat women.

Same story single mom dad split left her to raise two demons and what I had been trying to relate to my daughter for years clicked on that day.

Do not speak to your daughter about race…couch the argument as a corrupt, corrosive and destructive culture that many blacks have embraced. Blacks are good people, but their Ghetto Culture reeks of the Devils ass…et cetera.

The tragedy is that you actually believe that noble lie. What does it matter since both pov’s come to the same thing, you ask? In other circumstances they won’t, and that’s why it matters.

If Red America was able to get away and Blue America imploded, there would be many refugees. So which ones do we take? You would take Blacks too and the whole thing would start over again.

Worst part is she is gorgeous but very heavy so she thinks she can’t do better.
I always worry about her winding up dead in an alley with a needle in her arm.
I have had a couple of discussions with Alex’s dad on this and he is beside himself with worry but if he even tries to bring up the mistakes she is making it turns into a huge fight.

“The tragedy is that you actually believe that noble lie. What does it matter since both pov’s come to the same thing, you ask…”

The point of the exercise is to argue and convince, not argue and alienate. You are correct, the dots will, at some point, be linked. I believe that this is how the argument should be presented to those indoctrinated into our woke culture. Seek success, not confrontation…success breeds wisdom.

On the street, polemics are secondary to situational awareness.

“So which ones do we take?”

She’s right out of James Bond. Helicopter and submarine pilot? Do they have an underwater fortress? Is Pedo Island just the portal thereto?

      • SoftStarLight August 20, 2020 at 1:47 pm #

You know what. There probably is an underwater lair for these people at the very least. They have access to technologies that the public are completely unaware of? Is she just a really skilled and multi-faceted adventurer-scholar? Is she an intelligence asset?

Ah yes, the “Breakaway Civilization”. There really might be something to it. It’s all too expensive to extend it to everyone, so they don’t. And since they’re elitists anyway, that fits into their ethos irrespective of the economics.

This country has truly gone to shit. Cardi B, who just interviewed Sleepy Joe has the no. 1 song in the country. WAP. Young people actually idealize these assholes. Check out the lyrics. Talk about degrading to women and blacks. Read them here:

      Who wrote those inspiring lyrics?

Certainly it had to be someone with deep understanding of Romantic poetry … I see elements of Lord Byron, Percy Bysshe Shelley and William Wordsworth in those lines.

Did 78 year old Joe Biden comment on the greatness of Cardi B’s #1 song. When Joe came of age, Chubby Checker’s “The Twist” was all the rage.

      • stelmosfire August 20, 2020 at 7:36 am #

I can imagine some sweet 9 year old girl memorizing this filth and singing along, while her parents are in the next room with their eyes glued to their idiot screens totally oblivious to the world crumbling around them. Unbelievable that we have fallen this far.

      • stelmosfire August 20, 2020 at 7:41 am #

According to Cari B this is all about empowering women. Yea, OK

        • GreenAlba August 20, 2020 at 8:58 am #

Why is she called ‘Cardi B’? I’d never heard of her, so looked her up in Wiki, and she only seems to sing in her underwear, like so many who don’t trust in their talents.

Not a cardi to be seen anywhere. 🙂

I wish you hadn’t posted those lyrics, though. I’ll never be able to unsee them.

Glad I had my breakfast first.

No idea why the name. I also never heard of her till just the other day when she was interviewing Joe Biden. Why a presidential candidate would agree to such an interview baffles me. Perhaps he is trying nail down the ” ‘ho in the house “vote.

A cardigan you mean? Like the good ladies knitted for the children in equatorial Africa – as their Scottish tenants died of exposure? Thanks.

I think that the French Revolution was rooted in some very flawed and erroneous assumptions about Human Nature, probably derived from specious assumptions in the works of Rousseau, among others? The whole “Reign of Terror” Thang was a bit weird. One would think that legislators would endeavor to draft security legislation as precisely and as narrowly as possible in order to protect the individual rights of the accused rather than as vaguely and as broadly as possible in order to give the authorities leeway to basically accuse anyone that they didn’t like of sedition on the most flimsy of excuses?

“You’re a Racist! Black Lives Matter!”

You no long wear a rubber now that you’re “Retired”, right?

“ This provision was made retroactive to 1789 a few months later, even though it required reopening estates that had been settled for some years. The law of 12 brumaire prohibited paternity suits, on the optimistic assumption that fathers would no longer need to be pressured to recognize their children.”

Have you ever noticed that the Haiti Revolutionary leader, Toussiant Louvreture, looks like Flip Wilson?

And that Flip Wilson’s character, Geraldine, looks like Michelle Obama?

    What does it all mean?!

    • SoftStarLight August 20, 2020 at 9:45 am #

The ghost of Toussaint haunts the DNC? Kamala said last night that there is no vaccine for racism. If you are infected, irredeemable, and cannot be cured, and are a danger to society what should be done with you?

      • benr August 20, 2020 at 11:17 am #

Does that include the almost 100% of black people who hate white people?

        • SoftStarLight August 20, 2020 at 11:36 am #

Um, unfortunately for those with less melanin that would be a big NO. Remember, it is entirely impossible for black people to be racist because they do not have structural power and are therefore inherently and always victims of systemic oppression, colonization, and racism.

Kinda like Alfred E. Newman in blackface too. Still think we need a chromosome test of Michelle to be sure what’s going on there. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, as the old Seinfeld routine goes.

Still nightly riots in Portland, coming up on 3 solid months. Last night Peaceful Protesters gathered at ICE/ Homeland Security HQ, trying to bust in, ended up vandalizing the building with spray paint. Portland PD appears to be more aggressive now dealing with the mobs, deploying Officer Nighstick and pepper spray more prodigiously.

Peaceful Protesters show up dressed for battle, wearing helmets, eye protection, carrying shields and sharpened PVC tubing … why not give them a battle, stage a final showdown with these night demons?

On a positive note, residents of high rise buildings seen dumping bleach and hot water, and throwing missile down onto Peaceful Protesters in the streets, like defenders of a medieval castle under siege from an invading army.

My point way above is that if people had just followed the mitigation precautions we would all be back to normal.

Your paranoia about those terrible restrictions shows. If things had just opened up across the board in February, the health care system would have been overwhelmed and the mortality rate would have skyrocketed due to folks having to stay at home.

And, my relation with the Creator is none of your damned business, troll.

I think she is just saying that even though you rail against the deep state, ultimately, you trust in the deep state. And with corona you are totally becoming a spokesperson for their “mitigation” policies which aren’t intended to mitigate a virus at all, but rather, to destroy all remaining vestiges of the middle class and all remaining vestiges of resistance to the total power and authority of the all-seeing and all-knowing STATE.

This is a bit off topic for this sub-thread GA, but I thought you’d appreciate this special video message recorded by Trump last night just before he went to bed. Trump does have a type, though… it’s remarkable how many crooks like Bannon are drawn to a crook like Trump. What’s next? Will we discover that a crook like Paul Manafort worked for a crook like Trump? Oh… wait.

Or its remarkable just how many crooks are drawn to politics you know like all the irredeemable Democrats up to their eyeballs in evil tricks and for profit policies.
The very same ones who cheat non-stop in every election since the start of their miserable racists party still trying to keep people on the virtual plantation and slaves to their crumbs called welfare and handouts to keep people from rising up and bettering themselves.

You are all for it pandering to their horrible policies and slight of hand.
Hey fools look look look at what those awful Republicans are doing but ignore that we Democrats are really doing all we accuse others of and getting filthy rich in the process of destroying America.

I read that they’re now selling Weed in vending machines in Colorado, like cigarettes, Twinkies, and condoms. What do you do? Slide in a $50 dollar bill into the vending machine?

In Connecticut, if you want to buy Weed legally, then you’ve got to spend about $150 bucks to get a prescription from a doctor, and then get a Weed license from the State for about $350 bucks. What a Rip Off!

I didn’t watch ANY of the Dem Conv last night because it literally makes me sick listening to politicians.

Nevertheless, I would like some opinions whether the key people did well or poorly for the Dem Party cause. Was ,la’s (Kamala’s) speech any good? Did it make any of you feel comfortable with the idea that she will inherit the Presidency sometime in the next 4 years assuming, of course, that they win in Nov.

Did Biden give a speech too? I don’t even know.

Community members punched White man to unconsciousness after he refused to give them a dollar at a Maryland fair. One is blamed for dealing the death punch? And then the judge gives him a slap on the wrist saying, There is no evidence he intended to kill him. Well misjudge, there is no evidence that they didn’t intend to kill him, in fact there is more evidence that they did. How about manslaughter or something like that? There are degrees of guilt as you well know.

    • BackRowHeckler August 20, 2020 at 4:35 pm #

That was a Polar Hunt; asking for the dollar was just a way to get close enough to land a good punch.

The man died in front of his family, while community members laughed and mocked him, and of course recording the fun with their phones, which was the whole point to begin with.

State and community fairs ain’t what they used to be. A few years ago at the Wisconsin State Fair large roving bands of ‘Youths’ were singling out white families, beating them bloody and robbing them, focusing on young mothers with children, who put up the least resistance, and were the easiest marks. How thrilling it must have been, stealing cellphones, cash, credit cards and jewelry, jacking people up who didn’t cooperate, seeing the fear in the victims eyes, and sharing the action on social media.

That’s completely true. Commenter said that he was the only White working in the kitchen of a New Orleans restaurant. All the Blacks would torture the seafood before killing it.

There are Whites like this too of course. I knew a guy who would try to hit small animals on the road. Said the proper protocol if a bird got in the way of a golf shot was to beat the bird to death with the club.
