Chris Martenson, PhD (Duke), MBA (Cornell) is an economic researcher and futurist specializing in energy and resource depletion, and founder of PeakProsperity.com.  As one of the early econobloggers who forecasted the housing market collapse and stock market correction years in advance, Chris rose to prominence with the launch of his seminal video seminar: The Crash Course which has also been published in book form (Wiley, March 2011).  The Crash Course is a popular and extremely well-regarded distillation of the interconnected forces in the Economy, Energy and the Environment (the “Three Es” as Chris calls them) that are shaping the future — one that will be defined by increasing challenges to growth as we have known it.

Following that, the book Prosper! addresses personal resilience by building eight forms of capital.  His COVID video series garnered in excess of 40 million views and helped millions better understand, adapt, and prepare for the Pandemic of 2020.  In addition to the analysis and commentary he writes for his site PeakProsperity.com, Chris shares his insights on his own social media channels, as well as through traditional media, academic, and civic and private organizations around the world, including the UN, the UK House of Commons and US State Legislatures.

Chris and Evie now live on a 180-acre rural property in western MA and love being close to nature’s bounty and beauty.

The KunstlerCast theme music is the beautiful Two Rivers Waltz written and performed by Larry Unger.

I wonder how long it will take for Chris to dismiss the idea that
“dumb decisions were made” and arrive at the conclusion that this was all deliberate, and that they want to cull the population.

    • QuantumOfIdleness June 23, 2021 at 12:45 pm #

Who are the “they” who wish to cull the population? Even if it’s true, the population is growing just fine, since any culling is always orders of magnitude too small to make a difference is the population growth rate. In fact, it’s a lot more culling that is needed if we want to ensure the long term future of the human race and our planet’s ecological viability.

        “They” ?
oh you know, those jerks that own the Federal Reserve and attend Bilderberg meetings – et al

You seem to be on board with their plan, you should volunteer for the vax and let us know how that goes….

      • Rodster June 25, 2021 at 1:32 pm #

“Who are the “they” who wish to cull the population?”

Easy answer: Bill Gates, Ted Turner, George Soros just to name three. Bill Gates father was a proponent of depopulation and passed that on to his son. Bill Gates along with the likes of Ted Turner believes that the world should have no more than a billion humans on the planet.

Chris is there, but he also wants to keep a job and not be harassed by the government.

        yeah I think you’re right – he’s playing it smart…

I personally think that there’s a lot that we can do to make our lives better by living on less. And if you saw my city center where I live, I think you all would agree with me. But the real question is how to do that while still owing money to other countries. Because if the question was solely how to control our own economy, that would be one thing, but we live in an interconnected world. I’ve personally been an advocate of the idea that it might be better to try and grow the economy by shrinking it. Sounds like an oxymoron, but we’re all treading water when it comes to economic activity.

Mothers all across the country feel entitled to their SUVs, come hell or high water. Doesn’t even matter if all people use their cars for is driving to drive throughs and eating hamburgers, they still think it is their God-given right, even if the fact of the matter is that they might be better off not making those car payments and paying for all that gas.

But the world will adjust at some point, one way or another.

Time for a biblical Jubilee, I’d say.

It is extremely invigorating listening to two intelligent men discuss this complicated topic in such professional detail and depth, thank you. What is truly disgusting is the reality of who and what the nation is being deceived by, a greedy sellout hawking fear for profit. We all know what people that cannot understand that they are being lied to are called, VICTIMS!

It is true, we have run out of conspiracy theories for they have all come true. Perhaps even the population reduction one. After all, some rich bastard did in fact put up those Georgia Guide Stones.

Whilst Chris has been hitting it out of the park these past few months regarding Covid and his work is compulsory viewing, it’s apparent that (like many critical thinkers) he’s walking the narrow line and avoiding the uncomfortable truth that the world has suffered enormously from the whole covid and now vaccine debacle for the simple reason that various nefarious actors in US politics at a state and national level as well as their enablers in the MSM, intelligence agencies and Silicon Valley saw it as the perfect mechanism to destabilise the US, disrupt the economy, and sow the seeds for ending the Trump presidency because Orange Man Bad.

There is way more than just incompetence, panic, confusion or malpractice here; this is a malevolent, coordinated assault on freedom, privacy and liberty worldwide and the government and corporate overlords that have lied to their gullible and quite frankly witless populations are all too happy to facilitate this.

Great show as always, would love to hear a conversation between yourself and Bret Weinstein!

Absolutely and totally correct! The shepherds have turned on the sheep and are selling them out to the wolves. I have a feeling that Fall 2021 is going be be a lot more than just pretty colored leaves on the trees.

  6. Sam Vimes June 22, 2021 at 6:35 pm #

Yessir … how many normal flu deaths and deaths due to adverse vaccine reactions will hit both hemispheres in the next 3-6 months, and just how broadly will these be blamed on either covid itself or the unvaccinated? Mainstream media is already priming the pump by continually interviewing public health officials that are then quoted as stating “the unvaccinated will have to deal with the consequences” or “lockdowns and mask wearing have essentially ended the flu” … meaning all of the brainwashed herd will be convinced to bunker down again and accept the next ‘scariant’ as the end of the world.

  7. Rodster June 25, 2021 at 1:29 pm #

I cn’t give Chris Martenson a pass on this because he was one that was fanning the R-naught flames when this whole Covid nonsense started. The videos he put out on his Peak Prosperity website during the initial Covid breakout was just amping up the hysteria saying in essense this was going to be a monster virus.

Later we find out it wasn’t as bad as we were told. Why? Because the CDC was caught fudging the numbers. They were lumping in various deaths with Covid. So the CDC had to dial back those numbers.

That said, I do like Chris a ton. He makes the difficult subjects easy to understand. He has that gift but initially Chris was part of the problem.

Canada’s Prime Minister called anyone suggesting limiting flights from China early on a racist, hence allowing the pandemic to spread without restriction. Has he accepted responsibility for this clear disastrous, partisan, mistake? Not a bit.

It’s ironic, the people who advocate for Renewable Energy, and claim we can keep the show going as it is with wind turbines, solar panels and EVs, seek to introduce even more complexity (a new grid, windmills on ocean platforms, massive battery storage) into the system, and expect it to work.

Thank you for talking about this. In fact, now that the whole world is in a panic over what is happening with the pandemic, I think we should all sit down and catch our breath. We now live in constant stress and at the same time, we want to remain protected and not get infected with the coronavirus. But even now we undermine the health of our body by driving it into stress with our worries about everything. Starting from work and ending with your health during this difficult period. I hope that such articles will call us to calmness and careful observation of our health.
