The Anonymous high school physics teacher has been corresponding with me for a while and I asked him to come on the podcast. He teaches in New England, and that is all I can reveal of his identity. Of course, we will chat about the current scene in secondary education.
The KunstlerCast theme music is the beautiful Two Rivers Waltz written and performed by Larry Unger.

It’s so sad to hear how the young men are being deliberately suppressed, emasculated and destroyed by the culture at large and in the schools in particular. The US is shaping up to be a grotesque and covert Marxist-Leninist matriarchy. And, living true to the Marxist-Leninist playbook, they will keep screaming “Patriarchy! Oppression! etc” until it is a 100% matriarchy and the male sex has been reduced to mere sperm-donor status.
Yet again Yuri Bezmenov was right: the way to destroy a culture is to nurture all the movements within it – feminism for example – which, if given the proper support and grown a sizable faction, would steer the culture straight to its suicide. After this, the country will be primed for takeover by a hostile foreign actor. In today’s world that would be the CCP.
Great conversation; just finished listening to this when I saw this post in my morning feed:

I don’t know how you cotton to the whole FI/RE scene, but here Mr. Money Mustache talks about how his son is fed up with the educational system and has decided to go it alone.
An interesting and thought provoking interview Mr K. Unfortunately it confirmed many of our worst fears.
So sad to hear that one of the only ‘decent’ options left to less privileged kids is to go into the military.
Great interview. Thanks, anonymous teacher guest and well done.
Re: Cadre of cowards, BINGO.
I worked with a college president and he became chancellor. He embraces and pushes the wokie bullshit like nobody’s business.
He was one that bailed out of teaching and he’s quite the politician.
How did the USA fall? Two ways, slowly at first, then all at once. However, The Sun Also Rises.
Please ‘ride again’ with this gentleman, soon rather that later. He is enlightened on a a wide range of topics and I’d love to here more.
Fattigman, you poor man….hee hee.
Just retired after 35 years as a HS teacher and coach Listening to this guy was like listening to myself. (Except he’s probably more articulate) I’d be very surprised to find that the gentleman WASN’T a really good teacher; one who was popular for all the right reasons.
I’m not sure that the wave of wokeness is all down to cowardice- lot of true believers out there who think that somehow someone living in modern America is responsible for all the ills of the past. I also liked the distinction he made about principals as opposed to the layabouts and timeservers who populate school district offices. Most good principals still consider themselves to be teachers. And, like out mystery man, I hate the word ‘educator’ with a white hot passion.
He’s right about the boys and the notion that it’s not cool to be smart, although in my 35 years I always thought that boys were less interested in doing the work, but more interested in learning stuff, even if that stuff didn’t exactly jive with what I wanted then to learn/do. Girls tend to do better in school, boys tend to learn more. A gross generalization, I know…
Ganderson,-thanks for your 35 years of service and reply! Started teaching in Colorado, excellent school but as they say they pay you in sunshine! Moved to Wisconsin when the teacher’s lounge still had coffee mugs with those plastic name labels like in a GM plant. I’ve seen a lot of changes and I”m just rolling with it. The last opinion I had was in 1999. I can’t respond yet to your comments because I haven’t listened to this podcast yet. My hat’s off to anyone who dares step in front of 20-30 people five times daily without a single secretary to help plan or clean up. Where in the business world does that happen? Every administrator should be teaching classes imho. Administrators don’t do that and yet make double my salary so they are simply politicians to me. That was my last opinion in ’99 and I’m sticking to it.
Do you have one of those cheese-head hats? ?
My son is an assistant principal in suburban Milwaukee- he likes his job, although he also liked his job as an English teacher and lacrosse coach. Dunno how to fix it, but very often someone becoming a principal means losing a good teacher. Having said that, though, there are a lot of administrators who couldn’t hack it in the classroom- they then are promoted and get to evaluate teachers. Great system.

In the 90s rock music became so feminine and gay, that huge numbers of white male teens got into rap and hip hop; because that was the only masculine music left.
As hopelessly cartoonish and dysfunctional as it was, they still voted with their ears.
“shoot a mother fucker in a minute,
find a good piece of pussy?
Im up in it”
*facts*
Well, lots of missed points here, and, seems as though the echo chamber with James misrepresenting Toxic Masculinity, forgetting how deplorable this country’s history is, way before Woke 1960s, way before the Best and the Brightest, Operation Paperclip, Unit 731 Japanese bioweapons crew getting folded into USA ARPA and then DARPA. What an echo chamber.
James, I have been teaching since 1982 — colleges, prisons, military bases, in many states (including in Spokane where I invited you to speak to several crowds, to include Whitworth and on my radio show). Cancel Culture, well, James, I have been cancelled for 45 years, fighting the broke-back education system, fighting the US military, the thieves that are the Chicago Boys, back, even that old time coup against FDR, and back and back.
This physics teacher has some interesting things to say, but some of us have taught in many places, from Texas, to NM, Mexico, WA, OR, and in Vietnam and Canada. He’s pretty insulated, and that’s his POV. Not exactly deep. But what can we expect.
Listen to Tim Wise, who I also brought to campus, James, and I brought Naomi Wolf, and Sonia Shah, and Jeremy Scahill, and, well, Winona LaDuke, Heinberg, others.
James Taylor Gatto —
Gatto’s Way Forward: Spiritual Revival as the Antidote to Scientism
“The net effect of holding children in confinement for twelve years without honor paid to the spirit is a compelling demonstration that the State considers the Western spiritual tradition dangerous, subversive. And of course it is. School is about creating loyalty to certain goals and habits, a vision of life, support for a class structure, an intricate system of human relationships cleverly designed to manufacture the continuous low level of discontent upon which mass production and finance rely.”
—Gatto, The Underground History of American Education
Gatto’s challenge to modern schooling and white supremacy is made possible by his critique of scientism, or the ideology of science and the scientific method as the one way to truth. Just as racism crafted for itself a scientific justification, so did forced schooling make its case in scientific terms. By stripping these systems of their ideological basis through a critique of science itself, Gatto’s work opens up new ways to think about education, freedom and genius.
The cult of scientific schooling in the U.S. reached its apex around the beginning of the 20th century, when technocrats sought to apply the principles of Taylorism, or scientific management, to the public school classroom. Sociologist Edward A. Ross captured the turn of the century’s zeitgeist in his 1901 book, aptly titled Social Control, writing that, “Plans are underway to replace community, family, and church with propaganda, education, and mass media…. The State shakes loose from Church, reaches out to School…. People are only little plastic lumps of human dough.” In other words, the student not only can, but should, be kneaded into the proper shape, and there is no better institution to complete this task than the school.

Yikes, Biden is Trump is Clinton is Reagan is Bush. Sorry to bust your bubble — listen to some real journalists:

The derangement syndrome of anti-Trump is equal to the Trump is Good-Best-Smart syndrome. You know, James, Trump is a criminal, as a private guy, Biden for 50 years as Senator Credit Card.
