It is impossible to look at the stunningly comprehensive and pervasive infestation of corruption, abuse, theft, treason and unconscionable abject evil imposed on the American people and beyond without a deep sigh of relief and gratitude for the disaster we avoided in the last election . Every single day an unfathomable expanse of malfeasance is exposed. The depth and breadth of it is utterly and staggeringly unimaginable. The list is too long to transcribe. Had the election turned out differently, any sane and moral person would have no choice but to curl up in a quivering heap of jello. None of this would have come to light, and indeed it would have become markedly worse, if that is even possible. Say what you will about Trump - his failures and successes, his weaknesses and strengths, his ego, his compassion; but the alternative would have been the final nail in the coffin. Elon was right. That election was the most important and consequential in the history of our Country. Thank God for Elon and Trump and all the rest of the smart, courageous and dedicated people sacrificing to save the Country. The devastation inflicted on us is so incredibly deep that it far from clear that the patient can be saved, but at least we have identified and engaged the enemy; we are in the battle. I hope we can succeed. The forces of evil aligned against us are powerful and determined.
Thanks, Mellis. A thoughtful counterpoint to all the "a plague on both your houses" comments here and elsewhere. I have plenty of worries about Trump's reboot (almost all concerning his foreign policy moves), but you're right. We dodged a bullet ... but only by the margin that the president did on that grim day last July in Butler, PA.
However, to adapt what an IRA member said to Margaret Thatcher after a failed attempt to kill her: "You were lucky. But you have to be lucky every time. We only have to be lucky once."
“We'll preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we'll sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness.”

Evil never rests.

- President Ronald Reagan
"You were lucky. But you have to be lucky every time. We only have to be lucky once."
That's true in the short term, but not in the long term. In the long term, we have full control. Remembering that is the life problem.
All we have to do is stand up, and none could or can oppose us.
We are the people who casually conquered the world, without even noticing we did it.
Well stated. Keep an eye out for extinction bursts and do not under any circumstances think this momentary respite will continue without effort.
A welcomed narrative, Mellis. Thank you.
