This is their mindset. If they believe something is "helpful" they see it as something that should be forced upon others. They even do it at a micro-level. In schools, in their communities... say one of them comes up with an idea THEY like: They try to force it on everyone else, even though others are not interested. It's just the way they think. Rather than look inside for whatever makes them happy, they want to change their entire environment, and make others create that enivronment. Thus, they are always frustrated.

Note they were ecstatic during the covid hoax forcing others into behaviors they wanted to see. Masking, forced distancing, all the stupid things that made them feel good inside.

These are sick people and they are STILL in charge, in large part.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” —

C.S. Lewis

This perfectly describes the busybodies who are feverishly working at cobbling together an HOA of sorts in my expat community. Needless to say there's a core of us who are effectively "resisting".

Tony, people who favor HOAs do so so that someone has control of the common properties because they do not want to do it. Also the enforcement controls appearances and property values. Most HOAs start with the developer giving administrative responsibility for common property to a law firm AKA an HOA.

Contrary to popular belief, HOAs can be dissolved by communities. If so, someone has to take the responsibility for landscaping, painting and maintaining the common property. There is the rub, no one wants to do that so the HOA just goes merrily along. Good luck!!!

Stalin and the Communist Party did just that, too.

This (among other reasons) is why I love C.S. Lewis. What a great quote. I think I ran across this in "Abolition of Man," yes? Or elsewhere? In any case, I need to reread that.

I believe it was “God in the Dock”. Either way, Lewis’s massive intellect, wisdom, and insight continue to bless us today. Hard to say which one of his quotes is my favorite, but this one is so applicable and timely. It came to mind immediately.

I'm impressed that you can remember quotes this well.

I could have sworn I had read that one, although I haven't read "God in the Dock."

Well, I had to look it up to get the wording just right, but I read it years ago during the COVID madness and the simple, obvious truth of it really struck me.

Very apt. Also shows you how things don't change. There have always been those people. I'm reading "The Brothers Karamazov" and those people existed then, too.

I just finished that book a few days ago and agree with your assessment. These busybodies are endemic to the the entire race. Thus, ceaseless vigilance of our freedom.

Excellent, Mary. Commonly known as Power Motivation. The biggest mistake the American people make is believing that these power aholes in government give one damn about them. Aren’t these aholes the ones that periodically send millions of people to their deaths? Power people do not care about people.

I'm really irritated to have to deal with some of these a-holes where I play pickleball. I go to play and compete. But some of these ladies (which is why I prefer to play the dudes) decide one day that "we all" need to work on a specific thing. Um, no, I'm not there for lessons. They're all libs. This mindset invades every single thing they do. If there is even the smallest opportunity for them to force what they want on others, they will do it. I don't know what motivates them except as you say, a power trip. There's no money involved. Just their wills against everyone else's.

Yeah, my wife tells me stories all the time about “friends” playing power games.

It is interesting that competition exists between men and between women but the competition between men and women, not so much, and continuously being altered.

If no competition between men, No sports? Between women, no fashion industry, no makeup industry?

No competition between men and women? No Democrat party?

Mary came from LA and watched California deteriorate in the early stages and got the heck outa there. Now we get to watch Idaho and Arizona do the same.

Sad, isn't it?

I lived through the midwest being destroyed by sending the jobs overseas in the 1980s. It never recovered, either.

Yup, a product of Obama and his climate change warriors. He really believed that the USA could maintain its world position with a service economy. Europe was Obama’s model for much of his administration.

I was a mfg. engineer in 1991 and my product family was sold to China. Then all the other wafer fab production was shipped to Malaysia. I was devastated by the sending mfg.overseas syndrome of the Bush/Clinton administrations. The day that Bush stood up and said that the economy was fine in the face of a recession, was the day he lost my vote. Unfortunately, we got Clinton.
