Has Musk done anything that wasn’t successful thus far? I can’t imagine him wanting his name associated with something that will end up an abysmal failure. He has stated they are looking for people to work with them who are willing to work 80+ hours a week and are shining a light on all the ridiculous waste they find (like Nancy Pelosi setting up a liquor store in the Rayburn House Office Building). There has always been some of that related to reporting bizarre grants that are awarded to Universities (e.g studying shrimp on an underwater treadmill for a cool $3 million), but none with the audience that is available to Elon.

If nothing else, it will all be fun to watch and if he can’t get it done, no one can.

I dunno. I find Nancy Pelosi's liquor store less worrisome than a Tesla Roadster up in space orbiting the Sun. It seems a bit ironic for him to be tasked with saving waste. But I guess part of being a billionaire is marketing and slave labor - law and medical schools will be taking a hit from the applicants steering toward DOGE. But if Musk and Vivek can wheel and deal and trim $2T from the Federal budget, I'll be happy to apologize and admit I was wrong....

Yeah, make everyone work 80 hours a week. Roll back all hard won worker benefits. Open the windows! Children have the right to work long hours too.

Trump's EPA pick has no interest in the environment. Shades of Ronald Reagan and that low life he picked for the job.

"Trump's EPA pick has no interest in the environment."

Jared,

Cut Trump some slack. His new hires will do as they are told, with probably few friends and obligations in the field chosen. That they might pull the rug out from under him is only a distant possibility. You want him to hire someone from within the system? Someone who has friends? Obligations? ...agendas? He did that last term.

My comment was specifically related to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Umm, I don’t think he’s hiring children to work at DOGE. He’s looking for, in their words, “high IQ” people to identify waste in federal government spending and I assume they will be well compensated. Speaking for myself, I worked 80+ hours a week regularly as a salaried employee over the course of 15 years. I don’t think it’s that uncommon.

I’m not sure how Black slaves became part of the discussion, but ok. Have a nice day.

Yes, that's much harder than the Black slaves ever worked. But if you enjoy it, it's not "work" per se, perhaps. Of course it's imbalanced nonetheless.....
