My first husband is a Swedish Minnesotan from the Iron Range. I'm a Wisconsin Norwegian, and we have the same mindset, really. But the Iron Range, until recently, was solid Dem because of all the recent immigrant miners who were strong for unions. Trump changed that. But I really don't know what keeps Minnesotans so simpleminded and trusting; they even have their weird Democratic Farm Labor party, which represents none of those things any longer.

I should add that my ex is a hereditary union-nased Dem, amplified by his decades of involvement in the teachers' unions. I love the guy, but he's a hard-core member of the Democratic state machine for that reason. I married a mobster!

No Union democrat teacher can ever be talked into changing their opinion, no matter how good the argument against the democrat candidate. I've tried for the past 30 years. When we go to the polls, my spouse just cancels out my vote. I guess we should just stay home and watch TV instead.

Don't stay home Outsider. Your wife, if she's like the dems I know, might just say she's going out for milk and eggs, and lo and behold, she casts a vote for the bad guys without you knowing.

It was an amicable split after 30 years, and we shared a child. No sense in courting discord.
