The media maintained that there was no evidence for Trump's assertion that DEI policies enacted during the Obama years contributed to the DC plane crash, but today on the Substack of Jeff Childers, I learned that in 2014, merit-based testing for air-traffic controllers was scrapped entirely in favor of new standards that encouraged hiring more minorities. Scrapping merit-based testing, regardless of the justification, is a manifestly terrible idea for something as crucial as air-traffic control.

Once real standards are back in place, people will find it amazing and unbearable how few Blacks there are anywhere to be seen. That's simply the reality. There is no equality, anywhere. That will be the ultimate test of fortitude.

I would imagine that they were understaffed because of keeping vacant positions reserved for DEI hires. That was the Biden administration's prime directive for all federal agencies.

Or the fact that when women and unqualified minorities are shoehorned into positions they didn't earn, qualified men find it intolerable and leave.

Equality of opportunity, or equality of outcome?

The first is good, but the second can only be imposed by force to the detriment of everyone. Even those who get unjustified jobs through DEI find that everyone rightly suspects them of incompetence.

Isn’t equality of outcome = Equity?

Yes, that's that they call it. Really it's just racism.

If I see your reasoning accurately, I heartily disagree. But the point of competency is not negotiable, or anything other than merit based. There is enough sophistication in testing and physically assessing performance to fully vet any candidate.

Socially promoted prospects need Not apply, whatsoever.

Race is not a basis for evaluation. Period.

And maybe it will fire up Black’s desire for education? Education and the military, the two social elevators. It will be up to the Blacks themselves, the government will no longer play the “gimme” game. If they want to succeed, it is up to them.

Oh yeah, Lugh, you keep trying to condemn Blacks to the “dumb” category. Exactly. What “brand” of Black are you talking about, total, or 1/2 black, or 1/4 black or whatever. There is no such thing any more as a pure black, or a pure white. The difference is culture, the community that spawns the folks. Black communities hate success. Ben Carson has talked about the social pressure he faced as a Oreo, or Uncle Tom. That is the problem with Blacks not succeeding, accentuated by the Federal welfare tit.

What brand of Blacks hate success? You question the validity of the category and then use the same category.

Mine is a trained intellect, yours is not.

A trained intellect? Ho,ho! That is funny.

Who trained you to hate as you do?

Back in the day when I sat for my ATC Academy entrance test I sat for a 4 hr exam (the longest 4 hrs of my life) that tested for ability to interpret and manage time/space relationships among objects moving in 3 dimension space at different speeds (and you had very little time to figure the problem/s out). The top 2% of scorers were offered admission to the ATC academy. As a condition of admission, you had to pass a: (i) full day psychiatric evaluation; and (ii) FBI background check complete with unannounced interviews of relatives, neighbors and employers of yours. At the academy there was a 50% washout rate.
