"Was DEI a public ethics exercise or a massive jobs program for incompetents?"

The incompetent (stupid) are easily controlled. Lacking experience in management they perceived it to be license to control others which further eroded the workplace.

When then person in charge lacks the intelligence of their subordinates they become angry and the only thing that motivates them is destruction.

In my former career I worked at a variety of corporations, sole proprietorships, partnerships, the federal government and the state government.

Nothing was worse than the idiots I had to deal with at the state level. Mouth-breathers that would never make it in the private sector. No one with a brain stays in these situations so it's the C- crowd left by design to maintain the status quo.

When all consuming ambition exceeds talent the result is often crime.

My TA in college for economics class went to work for the CIA. He visited us once and boy did he give us an earful about federal employees and their incompetence. The one I remember most was secretaries that could not spell, write or type.

I recently visited the Recorder of Deeds in my county and the office was one old white man taking forever to service each person and three obese black women sleeping in their chairs. I'm not exaggerating, two of them were actually sleeping. One was fiddling with her computer. Probably scrolling BookFace.

He was trying to do a good job by going slow. Haste makes waste. Or as the Romans used to say, Make haste slowly. The Black women? Their bodies slept, but their hearts were awake.

Lugh

Ever watch the progression of a public works project such as roads? It is almost comedic how many of the workers are actually doing anything. It is another form of public welfare. Remember Newt and Bill’s workfare? Whatever happened to the idea?

We shouldn't have public roads at all, obviously. In this new age of FORD (Trump), I'm going to get a job in a toll booth/shooting tower. I'll spend most of my time reading, my rifle propped up against the parapet. From up there, the whole city will be filled with similar towers, one for every street (at first). We'll have fun talking to each other when not shooting people who try to jump the gate.

Later, City Lords will consolidate whole regions and you won't have to pay more than once since each Lord owns that whole part of the city. Hopefully by that point, I'll be higher up the chain of command and won't lose my job.

Their hearts were full of hydrogenated seed oils and Funyuns.

Imagine how great it will be when everything is private. No public lands, certainly not beaches. The Rich own everything - Heaven!

The rich own everything whether its public or private.

Right, at least everyone has a chance if the government is not trying to destroy them with taxation and regulations.

NGO's good, right? Since they're not government!

NGOs are a form of government control themselves, competing with the government for influence. They, like all corporations, are not private, but are spawned by the government and its taxes and regulations.

So private entities can act like government? Tell us more!

Okay, an example. Boeing and NASA. Bill Nelson et al have been protecting Boeing for decades. The newest space capsule is just the latest example. NASA is having a hard time fending off Space-X and Musk, a truly private group, as their aggressiveness is overwhelming the governmental style management of Boeing.

The MIC has been comprised of corporate participants since WW2. You know Military Industrial? Like Government Corporate?

Yes, one must dominate. Often it seems that the corporate does, to the detriment of all but their shareholders. There's no separating the two in any case.

Good point. Just a comment. Isn’t a corporation sorta like the government, especially now. The board and management against the shareholders being like the Deep State against the people.
