"We live in a small town here - half the people think I'm crazy - and the other half are certain of it." ~ Ron Anselmo

I think there's something to be said about where/when someone finds out about things not normally within the normal sphere/scope of knowledge and understanding, it can affect their behavior and/or perceived behavior, perhaps almost by necessity.

Like unplugging from the Matrix and sort of freaking out about the 'new' reality that always was, and then on top of that, having to jack back into the unreality for one reason or another.

The folks 'trapped' in it and going along with it almost like they're sleepwalking might see you quite differently, as they should perhaps. Certainly, expressing one's freedoms in those sorts of contexts can take courage and fortitude.

Lastly, if you know engineering, then you likely know the math that if you're crazy in a crazy society, then the two cancel out and you're left with you being likely sane. IOW, crazy ÷ crazy = sane.
