Why didn't Trump do this in his first term?

Oh right, he accidentally filled the swamp.

I'm glad people told him #NoPompeo, but what prevents him from picking another deep state scumbag?

Trump is the system trying to quell the discord.

I hope he gets to do a few things like not sideline Kennedy who can easily expose the vaccine issue, which Trump denied last time cause supposedly Bill Gates told him it's not a good idea (really tard?).

Sigh, hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Trump is not a politician, or wasn't when he first came to office. He was and is still a businessman. His perspective and thinking was not political. He was too trusting and knew NOTHING about the incestuous workings of DC. He trusted too easily and trusted the wrong people. He has since learned his lesson. He DID NOT, repeat, DID NOT fill the swamp. The swamp, which is actually more of a cesspool, has always been there. The Clinton Crime Family filled the swamp. The Bush Crime Family filled the swamp. The hussein Crime Family not only filled the swamp but politicized and corrupted each and every department. Trump walked into a hornets nest so don't even think of blaming him for filling an already filthy place. BTW, Trump has a website where the people have a say in who fills what position, in case you think he is the only one doing the hiring. https://www.mahanow.org/nominees-for-the-people

Al Capone was a businessman too by his own admission. Just giving the people what they want. The tyrannical government was always getting in the way.

Libertarianism is a mind virus about individualistic economics. Marxism is a mind virus about collective economics. Both are intensely idealistic and to that degree, wrong. All viable cultures have both individualistic and communal aspects.

Thinking you can separate economics and politics is specious. They are two different aspects of the same thing. The stuff and who gets it. Nobody gets it by themselves. Obama was right about that part. Of course he used that truth to try and deny individual enterprise. Both are parts of reality. Mind viruses can only see one side.

I have wondered why the USA only has two parties instead of the multiple parties of Europe. The prime ministers or presidents there have to kiss ass to create coalitions in order to govern. Just askin’.

He may not have drained the swamp, but he sure did EXPOSE it!

Yes! I hope he speaks the truth more.

Like if he was indeed a hostage to the deep state, wouldn't it be smart to send out the truth about what's going on behind the scenes?

I would call it naivete. His first term was a result of not understanding the political spectrum and trying to surround himself with advisors and cabinet leaders who did. It backfired on him. This time he is no so naive. I hope, anyway.

I don't believe Trump can cure what ails America by himself. He needs a willing Congress and Congress is full of self centered career serving wallet stuffing corrupt fuckers. Without Congress Trump can't do much.

Agreed, I hope this time he uses brute force to tear down the Deep State and not “Let’s make a deal”.

Why exactly is Pompeo a “scumbag”?

Expand full comment
James Bernard Shepard's avatar

He set up a CIA Ops office in the West Wing. He installed an enthusiastic torturer, his chief protege Haspel, as CIA director. He followed behind President Trump wherever Mr Trump tried to make peace (notably in person in North Korea) and destroyed and rapprochement by levelling threats. Need I go on?

I call bs on your reasons, which are debatable and don't change the fact that Pompeo served well under Trump and helped accomplish the President's policy objectives. You're not much different than the deranged leftists who call Trump a "dictator" and "Hitler."

Served what and whom? That is the question. Answer? The CIA and its war monger international "clients". He served the interests and ambitions of foreign powers while pretending to serve his country. What is the word for someone who does that?

Now you've really exposed yourself as a slanderer taking a page out of the leftist smear playbook. In their case we know they're deflecting from their own crimes, so what criminal enterprise are you shilling for or protecting?

Isn't it weird that somehow it's assumed that the CIA is dirty and crooked, but a person that went through the ranks of it is somehow moral.

That's a fact jack.

"Pompeo served well under Trump and helped accomplish the President's policy objective" That statement is also debatable.

Yes, it can be debated, but the unfettered and vicious attacks on a public servant who basically worked well and did a lot of good (the swamp State Department opposed, not welcomed him, and celebrated his ouster with Trump's) is reminiscent of the bloodthirst of the French revolutionaries of yesteryear and the hypocritical intolerance of current leftists who gaslit and tyrannized the rest of us for the past several years. This needs to get strong pushback or it will lead to dangerous places.

There's a couple of swamps.

He comes from a cabal like every powerful person in the system.

That's the one thing that gives me hope about the possibility of change. Competing mobs tend to reveal their own scams.

Pompeo tried to get the nation of Georgia to start a war with Russia, telling the Georgian leadership that 100,000 to 300,000 dead Georgians would be an acceptable price to pay for stickin' it to Putin!

Thank God the Georgians were not as stupid nor as rabid as the Ukrainians.

Pompeo urged, under the direction of President Trump, the Russians to remove their troops from Georgia. And the Ukrainians didn't attack Russia.

Let's deal with facts, not wild and unsubstantiated accusations about a Secretary of State gone rogue. What's up with all you haters? You're getting eaten alive!
