one of my greatest pleasures living carfree in europe was the fabulously wonderful experience of the train dining car where lovely pastries and excellent meals were served on linen tablecloths with fresh flowers in a vase. and then when I arrived wherever an efficient well integrated public transport network of buses and minor trains and safe public walkways awaited to whisk me on. while I'd love to see train service reinstated in the US what sadly awaits almost every destination is a paucity of transport outside the station.
