Jim—poignant, as always. Thank you. (And I hope to be in position soon to enjoy your writings via an annual subscription amount that reflects the value (for me) of your writing—which is considerable. Peace

(And the following Chesterton quote came to mind immediately reading the line about the veep hitting the bottle.)

"Drink because you are happy, but never because you are miserable.
