In 1996 I was visiting my brother in Berlin....the difference between West and East Berlin was astonishing. West Berlin was architecturally diverse and East Berlin was Soviet architecture and dirty. What strikes me, as an old fart, is that when I am traveling about in the U.S. what I see in new buildings is old Soviet style architecture....it's boring and ugly and essentially non-functional....you can't even open the windows in most cases. Also, has anyone else noticed that most school buildings look like prisons, which I suppose is appropriate?

YES! The buildings now are very dystopian and extremely Post Modern…aka: an eyesore!
