That brand new "money" is injected into the system and those at the beginning get all that new money at current prices. The banks. I checked with a contractor a few years ago about the cost of a standard 2-car garage here at my rural property and the estimate was $35-40k, which at the time shocked me although since then a neighbor stated that it's probably up to $60k now so I guess I missed out on an opportunity. Yes, much better to spend the $40k on a garage that will hold up over the years than on a car that will be a pile of junk in twenty...
