Vocational and Technical Education could have become the sole focus of the national Education Department instead of dismantling it so that we would actually have competent workers for any new factories (big and small) that might get established if the tariffs work as hoped for.
Well said. Unfortunately, it's a shell game. Recall that before Biden's debate implosion (in which it was clear Biden's brain was not working well), the mainstream media would have had us believe Trump would be clobbered. During those dark days, when Trump's campaign funds were low, Mr. Trump had a big "For Sale" sign. And after Biden, as big donors appeared, they bought their influence.
It's a big shell game. Some of the worst excesses of the Democrats, like wokeism, men in women's sports, will be curbed. But those are easy, and supported by a majority of the population. The rest will be "give us time, and wait" as we transition from one flavor of kleptocrats, to another.
Catherine Austin Fitts, who has been on Kunstlercast, and is conservative, warned on another podcast that Musk firing career civil servants and replacing them with private contractors is a terrible idea. The civil servant worker bees, who operate the system, know how it works. They are sworn to uphold the law. Their BOSSES are the problem. The private contractors are not sworn, and will just enrich THEIR owners and hollow out or system. It's not feasible to simply dismantle the government.
Exactly how many folks have been RIFFED, divided by how many federal employees total? A small percentage and nowhere close to dismantling the government. DOGE is doing the research to find out where unnecessary and corrupt people are sucking up unwarranted tax dollars, trimming the fat only. I have talked to enough friends who worked for the government to have learned that much of the federal employees are actually welfare, untrained unskilled workers. Musk put out a very simple question, tell me 5 things you did last week. The consequent uproar was just a reflection of the large % that could not do this.
Tommy Hoffman, I don't know you, sorry. You may be correct.
On the other hand, Catherine Austin Fitts was an Undersecretary in the Cabinet. The Federal Government has harassed her as a private citizen. And I learned about her on Kunstlercast, HERE on CFN. She says much I agree with--and I suspect YOU probably would also.
So, if she says taking replacing civil servant worker bees with private contractors is not a good idea, I defer to her. I trust her more than Musk, who I consider an opportunist out to make even more money and promote himself. At the same time, I like some of what DOGE is doing (as in outing the USAID money recipients), but at the same time, he is not really a government official. And he's not really American either. Time will tell if Musk is being of use to Pres Trump, or vice versa.
Unfortunately, I don't have the uTube link I saw Fitts' comment. If I can find it, I'll list it here.
Most (of the FEW) government employees I know are former military, who tend to be more conservative than the general public.
If Mr. Kunstler considered her worthy of his time to interview, I consider her views worthy enough to note in this space. At the same time, you may have a point. Feel free to elaborate.
A solid foundation needs to be established, and then the administration can focus on issues like reestablishing Vocational and Technical Education.
Trump's "leak" blunder may be the kiss of death for him, but it may also prompt him to bundle up his deal within the next 2 months.
I am holding out hope that he is focusing the attention of leadership throughout the world on the need for peace throughout the world, and the need for leadership to represent the needs of their citizens.

WRONG. THE ENEMY ONLY HIRES THE ENEMY.
SWORN TO UPHOLD THE LAW? HAVE YOU BEEN WATCHING?

Replacing them is a bad idea.
Eliminating their positions and their budgeted expenditures is what is happening.
Calling for their retention is the voice of the enemy.
Musk is NOT doing that.
