Washington crossed the Deleware and broke a Christmas truce to attack a bunch of hung-over mercenaries most of whom were still in their underwear when Washington raided their camp. Is this the great victory you speak of?

Yes, that's how it's done. The Samurai waded out into the surf to cut the Mongols down. Oh, wait for them to land, get on their horses, and get in their formations? Forget the "horde" stuff, they were incredibly organized and disciplined. The Japanese took the only chance they had. Ditto the Red Coats. Do I smell a royalist? What American calls himself "Robert"? You're supposed to be Bob or Bobby.

The Hessians are said to be still wandering around the Pine Barrens. Some as ghosts, others as red necks.

RE the Pine Barrens: Don't forget the Russian from the Sopranos episode of the same name. He was MIGHTILY pissed off last we saw him!

Yes, it was a major victory which stopped the erosion of the army and American morale. He succeeded at Monmouth and Brandywine also. His subordinates in the North kicked the hell out of Johnny Burgoyne at Saratoga, the turning point of the war. He spent much of his time trying to get the Congress to fund the army and trying to keep up the morale of the soldiers.

Why do people have to spend their thoughts and time degrading heroes of the country?
