I don’t know about you, but for a couple of days there I expected to wake up to the sight of mushroom clouds billowing across the horizon, all our exceptional hopes, wishes, troubles, and cares as a nation gone up in a vapor of smoking plastic. I think it was the Defense Secretary, nickname “Mad Dog,” who put the kibosh on the latest neocon temper tantrum against Bashar “The Animal” al-Assad. General Mattis told the House Armed Services Committee that the US was, er, “still looking for evidence” of an alleged poison gas attack against civilians in Douma, Syria.
That phrase “still looking for evidence” sounds like an elliptical way of saying we have no idea what, if anything, might have actually happened over there, just possibly even nothing at all. The Russians were busy looking for evidence on the ground in and around Douma, and they claimed to have found nothing — no traces of poison gas, no corpses, no gassing victims in the local hospital — and put out a call for international inspectors to come have a look. No reply on that from our side. Which does raise the question: are we even interested in the truth?
Maybe not. Also apparently not in the strange case of the poisoned Skripals that preceded the incident (or not) at Douma, and which touched off an expulsion orgy of Russian Diplomats among the US and our allies. Sergei Skripal, a Russian/British double-agent who had been exchanged to Britain in a spy-swap, fell ill along with his daughter, Yulia, on a park bench after lunching in quaint old Salisbury, Wiltshire, UK. The supposed weapon in that case, Novichok, an advanced neurotoxin that kills instantly, was found on the doorknob of the Skripal house, and yet the couple made it downtown, enjoyed a leisurely meal, and took a post-luncheon stroll. Casual observers did note that Salisbury is only a ten-minute drive from the UK’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, where military poisons are stored and evaluated, and after two weeks of idle chatter, scientists there released a galling report that they could not determine the origin of whatever knocked out the Skripals.
In any case, it didn’t kill them. Yulia Skripal was released from the hospital this week and is, apparently, some sort of hostage of the British government. You’d suppose that in a free country, Yulia might be interested in talking to the press, and certainly vice-versa, but she is incommunicado and was whisked away under guard to some mysterious hideaway. Sergei, we’re told, is coming out of it, too, in his hospital room, and seems to have nothing to say, either. There was chatter in the US media that the Skripals might be sent here under some sort of US witness protection program. It looks like the US and Britain are running out of rugs to sweep stuff under.
Clownish as it was, the Skripal affair ramped up already poor relations between Russia and the West (mainly the US) to code red levels, as perhaps intended by the dream factory known as the Intelligence Community. At least that’s how it played in Deep State officialdom. The distracted public has stopped paying attention to it. Note: neither The New York Times, the WashPo, nor CNN, have issued any righteous calls for answers in the malodorous Skripal matter. They’re all probably embarrassed that they latched on to the story and played it like “Pearl Harbor.” But no one is accountable and the net result is a Russian diplomatic presence reduced to a skeleton crew in Washington, which can’t be a great thing for mutual understanding.
So, now, the Russians and Syrians have had plenty of time to scramble their airplanes and move personnel around the landscape to await another US smackdown, and the Russians have promised to shoot down our missiles with some spooky new technology, and it looks like our side is blinking. Do we have any idea whether the Russians actually can shoot down our offensive missiles? Maybe we don’t want to know. We surely don’t want the world to know. It would be — how you say? — bad optics.
Of course, this latest uproar over the Douma poison gas incident coincided with the first day at work of National Security Advisor John Bolton, a reputed devotee of military monkey business. But it’s possible that even Mr. Bolton is embarrassed by these crude shenanigans, which just preceded his return to influence on the political scene. If he has any influence at all, perhaps he might use it to suggest that the President of the United States just shut the fuck up for a while.

Speaking of shitty choices, the ancient Romans actually had Gods and Goddesses for various and sundry toilet-related matters.
Sewer Goddess Cloacina was protectoress of Rome’s sewage system. She taught us the 2 things all plumbers know to this day; shit flows downhill (from the rich to the poor, nothing changes) and payday is Friday. The GGG, as you call him, may be unhinged, but he was a least talked out of his proposed lump into the abyss. Would pig-headed Hillary have at least listened to reason? Remember, she campaigned on a No-Fly Zone over the skies of Syria – an act of war. If she had gotten her way, the bombs might have started flying long ago.
And this brinksmanship on Trump’s part is bad for everyone’s nerves, and I certainly don’t condone it. But, remember, he pulled the same number on “Rocket Man,” and now we are supposed to soon be sitting down at the table with the DPRK. Could Trump be thinking that this Crazy Man tactic could work on Putin?
I was going to say the same thing. If HRC had been elected we probably would have been shooting down Russian jets and watching our aircraft carriers sink into the Med a year ago already.

I really have a hard time understanding the current situation.
But no matter how little I understand, it’s still an order of magnitude greater than what the so-called experts understand. Yesterday watched Russian TV Solovyov talk show – compete horror! Seems like smart people, but spewing complete nonsense. Fierce anti-Trump propaganda, and if Hillary uses them in the dark as useful idiots, then taking into account their profession, it’s even worse than if she just bought them.
The agent can be flipped, the idiot can not!
It is almost impossible to make a sane analysis of changes in the military-strategic balance, including because the Americans, for reasons unknown to me, perceive the threat of war with Russia in a purely humorous tones.
So, I have already written many times that precisely because Western colored projects are much closer to each other than to Orthodox Russia, inner struggles tend to be much more fierce than the joint struggle against another civilization.
Since Cain and Abel, it is known that there is no greater hatred than hatred between brothers. In particular, it is clear that the Skripal case in London and the Syrian adventure are provocations of the Western Black Project against Trump, who started reforms that are throwing the Western Black Project back to March-April 1945, when Nazi Germany was already in ruins, and at the head of the power, rapidly turning into a nuclear monopoly, stood Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who at that time was more red than Joseph Stalin.
And if this is not taken into account, then the inevitable conclusion is that Donald Trump is crazy, as Soloviev’s experts demonstrated yesterday, and the first this thought was formulated by Hillary Clinton in order not to participate in the televised debate on foreign policy proposed by Donald Trump just after he won the Republican primaries.

First of all, “worse now than it has ever been, and that includes the Cold War” means worse than during the Caribbean crisis, or again Trump is flying over the Cuckoo’s nest.
Secondly, in my opinion here with electronic black on electronic white it says that hostile actions towards Russia, in particular the previous tweet about new and smart missiles ready to fly to Damascus, are being undertaken under the pressure of a Black Project.
But tweet about helping the Russian economy means the principled consent of Trump to discuss the issue of compensation to Russia for the artistry of Hillary Clinton, which was an act of war, and such compensation is called reparations. And Putin’s press secretary Peskov’s statement that Russia “does not support Twitter diplomacy” means confirmation that the message that one should not pay attention to tweets about new and smart missiles ready to fly to Syria has been received and taken into consideration.
If anybody, Russia knows what is Donald Trump’s “Twitter-diplomacy”, which arose when the American media in early 2017 openly refused to bring to the American people the views of the president, in particular, the opinion about the need to have good relations with Russia and also the opinion that the Mueller’s investigation is in fact a McCarthyism and a witch hunt.
President Trump’s tweets are a lot more valuable than most people realize. The Main Slease Media promoting who knows who’s agenda, lies, propaganda and distractions is controlled by who? That’s right, nobody knows for sure do they? Mr. Trump’s lines are very probably penned by The Donald himself, and even though they may be set up by other hidden parties and agendas, at least we have a possibility of him screwing up and telling us something that THEY did not want us to hear. In fact, please listen to what he says, filter it out and store it for the next day or two and once you put it all together and clean it up, it tells a far better tale than the MSN ever does.
One day we are nuking Kimmy.
The next day we are nuking Russia.
In the end, nothing is happening – are you seeing the pattern here, because I certainly am.
And I understand all of the foregoing, what I do not understand why, for example, Mike Pompeo, who just talked with Russian Senator Naryshkin after successfully cleansing the CIA from the most malignant Clintonoids, “accidentally” revealed during his confirmation hearings in the Congress that about 200 Russians were killed by the US Army two weeks ago in eastern Syria, where the United States is based on an agreement with Russia to jointly fight ISIS.
Did he really not know about the campaign the Kremlin had undertaken in order to hide this fact from the still living Russians, and that today they would write about him in all Russian media and after that he becomes in Russia not just a persona non grata, but a leper, just about like Boris Johnson.
What an entry into the office!
What is it – the attempt to provoke a war and sabotage Trump after moving to the Clinton’s side?
And this is not the first such case – it is enough to recall Jeff Sessions, the head of the Department of Justice, who immediately after the appointment to the post handed Trump over to Clintonoids for dismembering him on the Mueller’s butcher table.
And who in Russia is interested in the fact that all this moves around Syria occurs during a frank coup d’état in the US, when Trump-Tower is set on fire and the above-mentioned Mueller in violation of his mandate to investigate the links between Trump’s election campaign and Russian intelligence, violates the US laws and raids the office of President’s private lawyer to collect records of Trump’s affair with a porn star a decade ago?
And Trump’s supporters openly demand that Mueller be fired, and some demand his arrest, since this coup can no longer be stopped without a state of emergency.
And the rats have already started fleeing the Clinton ship – for example, speaker Paul Ryan, whom Clinton has set to watch over the Republican faction in the Congress!
And it was clear to me two days ago that Trump was just buying some time with his hooligan tweets. But buying time for what – for Russia to bring a dozen more of its Bastions and SU-35 with Kinzhal missiles to Syria, or to mobilize his supporters and arrest Mueller?
And most importantly – is there in Russia still some media that does not work for Hillary Clinton for money or are her useful idiots, that is, they work for her for free?
The answer to your ideas may be the divisive shenanigans of a third party goosing up the world situation trying to end the current world situation. Sound like someone you have met before? Who ultimately benefits from all this stuff going on? Not England, Not the US and definitely not Russia. I feel like a puppeteer is pulling the strings to just sow discord between the primary players. To what end? To restructure a New World Order, that end.
The messenger of the discord sowing? Easy, our very obviously biased, globalist media, world wide. And who owns the media, literally in some cases, the globalist elites.

Oh man, I was starting to think I’m the only one who sees this. I dont know if its a third party or the deep state or what, but I’m convinced someone wants to see a war between the USA and Russia. First the Russian collusion trope, then the Skripal poisoning, now the alleged attack against civilians in Syria (which the Russians aren’t being blamed for, but which keeps the USA involved in a proxy war against them.) What’s next, a suitcase nuke in Manhattan with, “From Russia, with love” written on the side? Those words alone woyld be proof enough for Rachel Maddow to get the Dems to toe the line.

My biggest concern is how we did not learn from the shitfest in Iraq. Giving the powers to wage war to a single person is a horrible idea and should be illegal under the US Constitution, Article 1, Secion 8. I really don’t think that one person alone, has the unilateral power to start an offensive war. The military, for one, has a lot to say about it, as it is their asses on the line, but they say it behind closed doors – as it should be. Mr. K started today’s essay by suggesting that “Mad Dog” may have talked Trump off the ledge (if, indeed, Trump was serious about jumping and taking the world with him). If Mattis told Trump that the military would rebel, then he cannot go forward. How many senior officers are really ready to start WWIII blindly following a blowhard chicken hawk, who managed to keep himself out of the Vietnam-era military based on imaginary bone spurs?
Who benefits from the anti-Russia campaign? If this is the action of old Cold Warmongers in the Deep State, they should be exposed and put down. Baghdad was safe and prosperous, women could walk the streets in safety (unless they were unfortunate enough to be kidnapped by those naughty sons), many women were professionals and life went on – as it has never done since the Dubya invasion.
Saddam and the Ba’ath Party extinguished the jihadists and maintained order within his country. Probably the only way that the Iraqis would accept: through official terror. judiciously applied.

Even if Assad committed this act (and that’s highly doubtful), you don’t taunt Russia (a nuclear power) like it’s a New Jersey cement contractor. Furthermore, “Gas Killing Animal” is not a formal office requiring capitalization.
Some sources have suggested that this isn’t a legitimate Trump tweet. If little Barron has his daddy’s phone and is goofing on Russia – it’s even worse than we suspected.
Reminds me of the Good ‘Ol Days when arch-moron Ron Reagan was horsing around before a Saturday address and said something like “I have outlawed the Soviet Union – bombing commences in 10 minutes’ causing the Russian to understandably go to Defcon 1

Reagan was testing sound levels on the mike when he spoke those words, never intending they would be replayed for the public. On the other hand, Trump’s tweet was very intentionally public and thus a far worse faux pas IMHO.

At first glance, I too was concerned about that tweet. By the end of the day, I was thinking more along the lines of POTUS tipping his hand, in one of the only ways that he could get away with it. So what if people think that he’s nuts? Many already think that anyway !
Also, I thought back to the Federalist Papers, and wondered; is this communication a la “Publius” only in the computer age ? Likewise with the “Q” character. Certainly does reach more people that conventional media.
Speaking of little Barron, my son showed me a You Tube video that was narrated by a cute little talking cat. The cat told a detailed story about the connection between a nineteenth century child’s novel titled “Little Barron Trump”, Nikola Tesla, his life, and demise. Central to the story, is the fact that Donald Trump’s uncle was the receiver of the contents of Tesla’s office post mortem, and that subsequent family manipulation and use of Tesla’s time bending knowledge resulted in little Barron Trump, und der Donald, being one and the same person. Sorry, but I don’t have a link, but it truly is not a waste of time.

Eoin. Yes, I’m familiar with the Tesla connection, the Little Barron Trump story, the Q releases; and I’m not sure what to think. It would all provide the material for a great novel, but what is the truth?
One week ago, David Seaman was uncorking champagne bottles, claiming he had seen the indictment for the arrest of a very prominent player. We’re still waiting for that Perp walk. Yet, 25,000 sealed federal indictments are a fact, not someone’s crazy theory. Someday, they must be unsealed. To some it may look like a martial law coup by Trump and company. But I look forward with hope to the day the globalists deep staters are rounded up, caged, and executed.

For a man that wants nothing but peace, I have done so much study, research, and entertainment with the history of war that I confuse myself sometimes. WWI is IMHO the pivotal event in warfare when men finally stopped thinking of mass murder of each other as some kind of chivalrous game and saw it for the horror and evil that it is. It got real ugly and has only gotten worse.
The saddest part is that we, as a species have not been able to learn a single lesson from this egregious event. Many call WWI a “coming of age” or an “awakening”. I call it a damned pathetic lesson not learned and the Christmas Truce drives the lesson home so well.

Re the Christmas Truce, I think it catches the public imagination everywhere because it showed up the utter idiocy of what men were made to do to other men who had far more in common with them than each had with those of their own country who made them do it and in whose interest it all was. I find it exasperating, which isn’t any reflection on our American cousins at all (and quite literally, I do have some over there) – it’s the desperation to please that gets my goat and it almost always manifests itself militarily, so we end up tied up in situations neither of us should be in and providing mutual backslapping confirmation that we should be there. In some ways it’s more like wanting to be friends with the big boy in the playground, just to be recognised as still mattering.

If history is any guide, and it usually is, my bet is that the Russians were told what the targets were and when the projectiles would rain down so as to not hit Russian – cough – advisors. Maybe that goes for the Iranians too.

Stone Mountain is a quartz monzonite dome at the site of Stone Mountain Park near Stone Mountain, Georgia. At its summit, the elevation is 1,686 feet and 825 feet above the surrounding area. It is more than 5 miles (8 km) in circumference at its base. The dome is a pluton, a type of igneous intrusion, formed during the formation of the Blue Ridge Mountains around 300–350 million years ago during the Carboniferous period. It formed as a result of the upwelling of magma from within the Earth’s crust. This magma solidified to form granite within the crust five to ten miles below the surface. The Stone Mountain pluton continues underground 9 miles (14 km) at its longest point into Gwinnett County. Stone Mountain is well known not only for its geology, but also the enormous rock relief on its north face, the largest bas-relief in the world. The huge carving depicts three Confederate figures: Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and T.J. ‘Stonewall’ Jackson.
At the end of the Vietnam War, as a young Army officer on the staff of the newly-formed U.S. Army Forces Command Hq, located at nearby Fort McPherson in Atlanta, I was assigned to escort a big contingent of officers from the Bolivian Armed Forces War College. What a bunch of banditos they were! (I’ve often wondered how many survived the next junta.) In addition to their FORSCOM briefings, we took them out to Lockheed Martin in Marietta (where I lived off post) to inspect the latest version of the Lockheed C-130 Hercules. (I’m sure selling hardware was the real agenda behind hosting them.) Then back to Atlanta to visit the usual tourist sites. Their favorite stop by far was Stone Mountain. I can still see them in my mind’s eye, in the park’s gift shop, trying on the bright pastel color ballcaps, in yellow, baby blue, mint green, etc., with big embroidered patches on the front depicting the three horsemen on the sculpture, crowding around a mirror in the store, preening and admiring one another. Soon it was back aboard the tour bus, but for the rest of their visit, in ornate military uniforms and dark Ray-Bans, those bad muchachos proudly sported their colorful caps. What a sight! It’s a shame I didn’t have a cellphone camera back then to record the hilarious scene, like something right out of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”

By the way, if you’re ever in the Atlanta area during the summer months, don’t miss the fantastic laser light show at the park that begins just after dark. Kids love it but so do big people. Choreographed with a terrific music soundtrack, the neatest part is when the lasers outline the characters on the side of the mountain, and moments later, they begin to slowly stir, and then suddenly, mounted on their horses, the Confederate heroes gallop away across the night sky above the audience, as if in hot pursuit of Union cavalry. An amazing sight to see, even if you’re a die-hard Yankee!

Funny you should mention that. I was doing my biweekly trip to the gym where I get my ticker up over 100 beats a minute. It is a good week when I don’t skip. The body is your temple, that sort of thing. Dogs need to walk.
The wall where everyone faces when working the elliptical walking machines and exercise bikes has big screen TVs along its entire length. Of twenty screens only two showed the 10 pm East Coast time press conference about the missile strike. v One was in Spanish and that is the one I was closest to and watched. I don’t know Spanish but since it was the news I was watching that did not matter.
The general talking the press conference sort of looked like James T Kirk from Star Trek and though I could not understand the translation, he had a definite air of ‘beam me up Scottie‘ about him.
My point, yes I have one. Of twenty screens only two showed the press conference and I saw nobody interested in those two screens at all. I was the only one.
I looked out the windows out at the parking lot of the mini mall I was in half expecting the sky to flash white like a lightning bolt so big it fills the whole sky. I pondered what would happen, realizing the flash would likely blind me and set everybody in the room on fire. A few seconds of screaming unfathomable pain and it would be all over.
Then I went back to watching a fit blond young woman lifting weights, noting her technique. Not all Americans are gross and overweight. Just most.
Before I was completely distracted I decided that if there is a flash the room totally deserved it. At that time there was no way to know Trumps latest strike would not kill anyone. I don’t think the Jesus would have appreciated the disinterest and ease with which everyone in the room acquiesced to murder.

I know. My mother lost £3000 to a ‘roofer’ from a ‘travelling’ family (he lived in a £1m house and had a big, fancy car, courtesy of his ‘roofing’.
He scared her into getting the job done in the first place. He ended up in jail but she didn’t get her £3K back.

Adam Davidson is right about the rampant, low-rent criminality of the man now occupying the Oval Office, but he’s too optimistic by half about the outlook from here. In my opinion, today’s America is quite corrupt enough that Trump has a reasonable shot at surviving all of this.
And if he does come out the other side still on top, even after having his poopy diapers changed in full public view, it won’t be the Trump presidency that has changed, but the presidency itself. Trump will have succeeded in remaking the office, and the polity it rules, in his own image. And everyone everywhere will be worse off as a result.

What kind of revelation is that? All you have to do is be an active nobody on the internet and that can happen to you. If you are a lawyer to a presidential candidate the only reason you would not be surveiled is if the surveillers had better things to do.
Most surveillance I’m sure is discrete unless they want to send a message. That happens, I know. To bad for them it did not shut me up.
Phones behave a bit differently when they are being used to monitor your meetings. An oversight by a surveillant is not to look at the use history of a phone which is being used as a bugging device. If the owner of the phone basically hates phones and tries not to use it (such as myself) they will get suspicious when their battery suddenly starts being drained in a single day when a week before it took 3 days. Most people are heavy phone users so added use by D-State surveillance is not noticed. For a person who uses their phone infrequently the battery drain shows something is up.
Then when you see a couple of sentences being injected into another commenters comment on a page your visiting verbatim you know something is up for sure. Somebody is trying to put the fear of god in you is what’s up. I find other joys in life more preferable. Sorry to go off topic. If god scares me that would work.

I think the real issue is that Trump is deeply compromised by his own activity through the years. The “Dossier” was first funded as opposition research by Republicans but was abandoned when they decided to let him win and Hillary’s bunch started to fund it.

Trump had a choice. Tell the American people D-State has lied and pulled a false flag and do noting was a choice. Doing nothing without an explanation was no choice at all. That would have showed weakness and lead to big troubles.
The weak mans choice was to go along with the lie and do what he did. I do hold out hope that he tried real hard to target empty parking lots and such. That is the only benefit of doubt I can give Trump.
I fear you are right in your assessment. He needed to go on the offensive against the Deep State from Day One. But he didn’t. Instead he filled his Cabinet with them. People in the middle tend to get crushed. Instead of being one with the Deep State or outside the Deep State, he was half in and half out. They don’t accept that, nor his commonsense about the immigration and the Middle East.

The key word here is weapons of mass destruction which chemical weapons are. The Chlorine gas used in Syria is smal potatoes compared to the nerve agents like sarin gas. One drop is fatal. WMDs are weapons that can destroy say the populace of a city in one fell swoop. Three types, Nukes, chemical and biological. Both sides have plenty of both. Their impact is so huge that international treaties have banned them, or so it was thought. Use of them is abhorrent to both sides. Once and only once. (I have been looking) I ran across a reference to certain Japanese Buddhists coming up with the idea of ‘dangerous thoughts’. Thoughts that should not be thought at all. Thoughts that are not good for you and should not be in your brain.
But how would you know what they are to steer clear of them? The reference did not say what they are. By what they would make you do it seems to me. If they cause suffering then they’d be dangerous I suppose; but you would have to experience them to know.
Seems to be a quandary because you can’t take somebody else’s word for what could be a dangerous thought to avoid and you could deceive yourself through simple ignorance.
I bring it up because when I was reading about Utilitarianism a few weeks ago I thought this could be one of them. Dangerous thoughts. Thoughts that lead to no good end.

The battlefields of WW1 even after 100 years still have a powerful effect on how we view war today. Just imagine, in the first 20 minutes of the Battle of the Somme there were 20,000 British casualties, by the end of the day 60,000. When the German army converged on Moscow in Dec. 1941 and was ready to overrun the City, Joseph Stalin did not deploy poison gas, of which he had copious amounts. In 1945 the 5 million Red Army troops stood before Berlin; Hitler did not use gas as a last ditch effort to defend his city. Hitler himself was gassed in WW1.

LBGTQ and Environmental Movements are converging — creating a sort of lefty united front — and sparks are flying. No, I’m not sh-ttin ya, sparks are really flying. Down in Manhattan, environmental AND LBGTQ attorney David Buckel made a bold statement and set himself on fire a few days ago in a city park, after soaking himself with ‘fossil fuels’. He was in fact protesting the use of coal, oil and natural gas.
according to the NYPost he burned up pretty good and not much was left of the body. The odd thing is the the remains, what was left of them, weren’t discovered right away. Unfortunately for Atty Buckel no one was present to film this eyebrow raising event, so, unlike the monks immolating themselves in Viet Nam in 1966, which shocked the world, the effects of this latest stunt were blunted. Its already out of the news.
But really, what a way to go! And we’re still using ‘fossil fuels’. Imagine NYC operating one day without the use of ‘fossil fuels’.

I was walking across the bridge that connects the east and west campuses of the University of Minnesota over the Mississippi river once a few minutes after someone had jumped many years ago.
It is a couple of hundred feet over the river canyon and the jumper landed head first into a parking lot on the west side of the river.
Bodies have a lot of blood. I did not know how much. The body was under a yellow tarp but the shoes were four feet away from where the feet poked out. The impact must have taken them right off the feet. The blood trail was covered with sawdust and was only washed away a several days later. I imagine someone did not want to do it and was finally told to go wash it away or else. I went across that bridge every day.
No mention of a suicide was listed in the campus or local papers. I was perplexed but as an adult I learned that reports of such things are used as filler and don’t always make the news. At 60 David Buckel would have learned that death in our society is swept away as quickly as possible. That sawdust covered blood trail I saw was an exception. A look of normalcy is generally restored quickly, very quickly. Writing about this I realize the parking lot was probably state owned. I never parked there. If it was private an owner would have been washing the sawdust away at midnight and I’d not have seen it the next day.
David may have had a terminal illness but regardless his statement is empty, with perhaps only the impact of a week’s worth of articles here. No more than that, it that, and then David will be forgotten. That is how it goes.
Learning about peak oil and the amount of oil remaining combined with a knowledge that population has grown exponentially over the years so that now we are far far beyond the carrying capacity of our planet can really mess you up. For someone like David who was dedicating himself to ‘justice’ the knowledge had to be doubly daunting. In his case ‘dangerous thoughts’. For David, better off he had just focused on gay people getting their rights. The ones they already have. I had to throw that last part in and I’m all for them getting a fair shake.
Problem is once you understand a die-off of some kind is inevitable and that the human race could go extinct in the next couple of hundred years you would have had to realize the legacy of a gay rights lawyer is not going to mean shit once excrement hits the fan.
Rights as most people think of them are going to fly out the window like yesterdays news when the going gets tough. Perhaps you can be an ambulance driver in the long emergency but working on gay rights is going to be on the back burner. Climate change will be coped with as best we can but it will not be protested.
David’s whole life would have seen meaningless and that must have devastated him. He was a highly motivated person and people like David want ‘meaning’.
David must have imagined his whole life to be a joke since life as we know it will soon be swept away. David learned this and his identity was all about polishing life as we know it. Making it better. But like sandcastles to be washed away later by tides which can’t ever be stopped, the long emergency is coming and can’t be stopped.
I’m speculating yes, but I have the knowledge which fucked David up. I have a different background and I adjusted differently. I do not see myself as better or worse.
What David learned brought me here years ago after JHK was in a Documentary called The End of Suburbia and had developed the concept of the Long Emergency. Back then I learned about the people most people into Peak Oil knew about. We were, and still are a rather small community. One that is ‘watched’ extensively.
Mike Ruppert, one of us, took his own life four years ago last Friday. Mike was someone who had a great deal of trouble dealing with the reality of our impending Long Emergency. There is speculation Mike’s death was not a suicide (D-state) but Mike Ruppert did have a disposition which could not deal well with the gravity of what he had learned.
Mike was a sensitive soul. At times men like Mike and I suspect David too lose it a bit and imagine nothing but the worst in a fit of depression. The knowledge really can do that to you. I adjusted but I can tell you it was no walk in the park. Sorry David. Some people go off the deep end and can imagine only the worst.

When you actually learn that the end of the world really is nigh it can mess you up.
I however understand feedback theory far better than Guy does and we are not going to turn into a second Venus. Parts of the tropics will however become uninhabitable. Parts larger than we would like. People there will have to move or cook when the wet bulb temperature gets above 92 F.
It really sucks to have a buffoon like Trump dominating our screens. Some mitigation is possible and we could make a national effort out of surviving the long emergency. But I doubt it will happen and I wish I was just sour in saying that. Unfortunately I’m not sour at all but suffering again from knowledge.
Once I became involved with Peak Oil the psychology of the universal denial concerning it fascinated me. I blundered into the machinery of suppression and learned America is not what most Americans think it is. America has ossified into fixed patterns of behavior which can’t be changed. The nail in that coffin was 9-11 when surveillance was introduced to monitor all possible dissent making the status quo the law of the land.
Denial turns out to be in our national interest for the time being and is enforced. It’s not right, but that is the way it is and the war on terror will mean that we will be in denial to our bitter end.
McPherson has lost it I’m sorry to say. His advocacy of imminent extinction is as deranged as the blanket of total denial we live under in America every day. Mcpherson does not get how feedback works and imagines reinforcing feedback loops coiling around us and doing us in as soon as years end. That is nuts. McPherson imagines everything falling apart like a house of cards.
Were I to accept the inevitability of his scenarios which I do not (though it is going to get really bad) feedback loops have a thing called a time constant and the time constants on a planetary scale are long enough so that we have more than a year left.
McPherson does not advocate for or against suicide. I most strongly advocate against it. Perhaps you are out of work and think you are never going to work again. You feel like you want to hang it all up. I was there and then found the best job I’ve ever had. Life can surprise you but a depressed person goes in little loops and can’t see the bigger picture. Dead people can’t be surprised.
McPherson I believe has been targeted by #MeToo. (sort of, it could be a d-state department of #MeToo please don’t let my paranoya annoy ya, definitely not the real thing making me think Ossification-R-Us could be behind it.) that is the ‘defamation’ he refers to if you go to his website. I know nothing of the details but experiencing that and thinking about the ice melting in the north pole too much, turned his twenty year speculation into a mere two.

Checked, He was a few years earlier. But it turns out to be the exact same bridge and there was only one parking lot on the west side. I had heard about John Berryman back then but never put two and two together before.
what I saw was a wannabe do themselves in at the exact same spot Berryman jumped and it makes sense why it would not have made the news.
I have to say I don’t mind info that could encourage other suicides being suppressed. Don’t have a problem with that at all.
I know something else about Mlps bridges too. That one that collapsed a few years ago was welded together by drunks who were cutting corners. It was local ‘talk’ when I was in High School. A buddy of mine knew someone who got a job working there and he quit in disgust.

Originally I was a fan because he was the only one trying to bring attention to arctic methane. He started out pretty reasonable respecting science and wanting more of it done up there, thats the point right! He was heavy on the doom and gloom side but I figured that was his shtick. If you are going to present truth on a dinner theater circuit embellishment of a little truth is reasonable to make a good show as long as you don’t stray too far from the truth since people are coming for a message.
But in Guy’s case the message seems to have shot the messenger. Along with a little help from outside influences.
Good post, K. It’s late so I’ll just say I’m fortunate not to have those problems. My attitudes toward Death, however it comes, have hardened over the years. Make the most of Life, that’s all we can do.
