Does Memorial Day 2021 seem an unusually grim lull between spring and summer this year? Here in the northeast, rain pounded the lakes, ballfields, and barbeque circles all weekend with the additional insult of a steady fifty-degree chill that hardly changed from noon to midnight all weekend. Anyway, the holiday is always freighted with that hush of battlefields strewn with the dead — no smiling Santa Claus, no pastel Easter eggs, and the skeletons aren’t in the mood for dancing.

Even the military looked tarnished this year with a battle royale raging over the new imposed strictures of Critical Race Theory poisoning the ranks, and the fishy spectacle of Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier, an exemplary officer, getting drummed out of his post as Commander of the new Space Force for publishing a book about all that. His firing provoked the consciences of retired generals and admirals who denounced the Pentagon’s new tilt into Marxist political activism as an existential threat to the nation — and that didn’t seem like such an exaggeration, either, considering how an America led by transsexual gunnery sergeants might meet its future foes on the fields of war.

Memorial Day also marks one year since the sacred transfiguration of George Floyd from repeat felon to patron saint of social justice, but the remembrance of all that seemed a bit wan now that officer Derek Chauvin stands convicted of murder and the Floyd family has been elevated into the financial one-percent with a $27-million settlement for the loss of George’s earnest existence. Meanwhile, America could not fail to note the 36-percent increase in the national homicide rate since that mournful afternoon in Minneapolis.

Three rivers of angst flow out of Memorial Day 2021, and it is possible to imagine how they will meet later this year and join in a mighty flood of woe over the country. The first is the toxic stream of Wokery saturating just about every institution in the USA from the armed services, to the DOJ, to education both public and private, to organized sports, to the corporate C suites and, of course, to the transmission of current events in news and social media.

Despite the torrents of mendacious narratives and fogs of gaslight deployed in this campaign, a substantial chunk of the public resists suffocation and has finally begun to fight back, especially at the grass roots local level against the dogma-driven school boards out to cancel Western Civ. Expect this to ramp up as the spring semester closes out and the schools must set the terms for resuming classes in the fall. The kids themselves are bucking the mask mandates while the parents tangle with the more vexing problems of Woke racist curricula and insane sexual propaganda. It’s going to get ugly.

Another stream of angst is the River of Covid-19. The tide has just turned on the question of where it came from, namely, the Wuhan Lab, but it’s hard to game-out both what we might do about that concerning the CCP’s role in it — plus, the roles of Dr. Fauci and our own National Institutes of Health ­— and whether the depraved administration of China Joe Biden can even acknowledge the facts. That is to say: the whole sorry episode looks like an act-of-war but carried out with America’s foolish willing collaboration.

But then a whole raft of really deadly additional questions overrides even the quandary of who’s responsible, and I refer to the future course of the disease itself, whether another wave comes back, what new variants might emerge, and the extremely spooky issue of what the long-term effects of the experimental vaccines might be. Since the news media is so untrustworthy, and these are such troubling threats, it will be very hard to locate the truth about the medical concerns.

There’s a ton of rogue commentary on the Internet about all this, and a lot of it comes from legitimate and credible doctors. But the highest official US medical authorities are crippled for now and the public is left to sort out what’s real and what’s not on our own. An aggravating factor is that so many people have been roped into taking the vaxes that they might not want to even hear about any serious problems discovered with them. One extremely worrying narrative lately surfaced is the idea that Covid-19 itself wasn’t the prime bio-weapon deployed against the world, but rather the vaccines will deliver more death than the disease. Not saying I subscribe to that theory, but it’s out there to chew on.

The third stream of angst is the big muddy river of economy-and-finance. For the moment, it’s the one drawing the least attention because the equity markets continue levering up-up-up reassuringly on ZIRP and the gold market goes mostly sideways, and Bitcoin dances up and down like the jester it is. The unemployment numbers are still grim, along with the perverse effect of jobs going unfilled due to federal relief packages. A lot of businesses wiped out by the lockdowns just aren’t coming back, and despite all the “liquidity” sloshing around stocks and bonds, there isn’t much capital really available for people who went bankrupt and need it to start up anything again. Lurking in the background to all this is the surreal government spending of “money” created from up the Federal Reserve’s wazoo on a Ponzi scheme for the ages that shows signs of ending as all Ponzis do: in ruin. Only in this case for an entire nation. We’ll end up either with no money or plenty of worthless money. Take your pick.

These days, one can only observe that the fiscal management of the Biden admin looks like just about the most reckless and clueless of any regime in US history. All of a sudden, a $10-trillion annual budget, including all the special “rescue” plans? Come on, man…. The deluge from this river of angst might easily overtake the rising waters of the other two as we stand watching on the levee of summertime. Just offstage of all this is the quirky playing-out of 2020 election audits. Gawd knows what the nation will do when faced with genuine proof that Mr. Biden is in office less than legitimately. That’ll bring on the equivalent of a five-hundred-year flood, fer sure, when angst turns to real misery.

      I don’t have a flag but I do care about our country and hope at some point someone with some sense can restore sanity. But I don’t think that’s going to happen. I voted for Trump in 2020 b/c the Democrats have become more and more mendacious. But where is he now? Why not a word in defense of the protestor/tourists on January 6th? It’s referred to as “the deadly insurrection on Jan 6th” when the only person who died violently was an unarmed woman. The rest died of natural causes.

        I don’t have a decent flag to fly. Harbor “China” Freight has a good sale today on small US flags. I thought of going there to get one.
        Their ad did not mention the source, but did say that flag was not available for sale in Minnesota. After doing a bit of research, I learned MN has a law prohibiting the sale of US flags not made in the USA.

          Very interesting, tresho. Minnesota. A law prohibiting the sale of US flags not made in the USA. How far could this be extended? I realize it would be almost impossible now to only buy items that were made in the USA, but it could be done, even with such things as cars and trucks, though one would have to drive only vehicles built in the U.S. prior to 1965 — and Volkswagens wouldn’t make the cut.

      Safer than the crud itself

      The level loading of the new case per state stats since the vaccine has been given to 50% of the folks says one thing.

      The remaining Un vaxxed folks are a specimen pool for what is left of the virus. Until we get to 85 to 90% vaxxed or natural immunity, the crud is going to keep chewing away at its pool of non immune folks. Eventually, the Un vaxxed zealots will get the natural immunity they desire.

          Yes it can!

          The virus by itself would kill someone only if it could not be stopped by the immune system and eventually killed enough cells to compromise homeostasis of the organism causing death. Think immune compromised folks, such as transplants.

          The killer is the immune system of the host. Inflammation to excess sickens many people, the reaction to Covid causes inflammation caused death. Take your choice of which organ can cause it, the lungs turning to Swiss cheese, the heart with myocarditis, the kidneys being clogged with immune complexes, the liver the same , permeability of blood vessels causing Covid toe, brushing or red areas, the brain if the blood brain barrier is passed through. All these problems stem from the body attacking itself trying to kill the intruder.

          Most of the drug types used to slow the disease suppress the immune response so it does not kill the host trying to kill the virus. Eventually the immune system gets ahead of the virus, or the patient dies.

            As a physician for 37 years, I agree with neurodoc completely. He’s got JohnAZ pegged. For the past 6 months, I’ve undertaken to bring myself up-to-date and obtained current textbooks on biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, pharmacology, and microbiology. After getting up to date and reviewing dozens of current papers and available data from VAERS etc, I’ve come to the conclusion (for myself) that I would not get one of the available vaccines.

            Now I’m 66 and have a couple of medical problems, but a risk analysis requires that you can assess risks on both sides of the equation. Although the data from my Alma Mater is flawed, I have some idea of the risks associated with a Covid infection. The risks associated with the vaccine are almost completely unknown. The initial study data, provided by the Big Pharma companies themselves, was only based on 8 weeks of observation. Are you kidding me?

            When a valid safety and effectiveness profile comes out for the vaccines, I might reconsider. I could do an hour-long presentation on the details of why I choose not to be vaccinated at this time, but I will not try to present it here.

            JohnAZ seems to be struggling with the cognitive dissonance experienced by those who are vaccinated. I hope he does not experience any of the myriad potential problems associated with an entirely novel technology interacting with his immunologic, vascular, and hematologic systems.

            Why don’t life insurance carriers ask for a Covid test before quoting a policy? Their actuaries must have concluded it doesn’t affect mortality risk. Why aren’t many vaccine complications being covered by insurance carriers? Because the vaccine is experimental, that’s why.

            the problem with your theory is that many folks are just straight out immune to it and have the blood type that the virus has issues with as the host is just too strong

            if your older than 70 and are obese, get the shot if it makes you feel more secure.

            If your under 70 with no co-morbidities and not obese, your odds are just as good not getting stricken with anything other than the regular flu symptons per all the data available

            if the hong kong flu hit today vs 68 with the age of population and obesity of America we would have similar numbers as CV19

            the virus only killed because there was no out-patient treatment regime- folks are told to stay home, DO NOTHING, and suffer, and when they can’t breathe anymore, head on back to the hospital to get hooked up some mechanical breathing machine. never in the history of this nation has there been no medical directive to treat a virus at home, with effective prophylactics of some type, and/or with at the very least, a nutri-ceutical bundle. Doctors didn’t even advise chicken soup ffs. WAKE UP!

            As for the injection, it’s a problem. blood clotting is a problem. you don’t know where the blood clots are going to show up. Only 40% have taken it starting with the low-hanging fruit- those who trust the media and govt., fools that they are.

        You sure about? And if so, how so, since the first full-scale trials on the so-called vaccines are scheduled for completion in *late 2023* ?

        Tried to post some new stats from the VAERS site, but got a message
        that it was a "potentially unsafe™ operation" from something called
        "Wordfence".

        Good to know that they and so many others are working tirelessly
        to keep us safe and secure from true information..

        Check out the recent Lancet article on analysis of ‘VAX’ efficacy; 1.3% at best. That’s essentially one out of hundred people benefiting from it.
        Read the article and Check out the ARR (absolute risk reduction) not the statistical bullshit RRR (relative risk reduction); the latter is totally theoretical, the former is real data, real people. Also note the number needed to vaccinate; its about 110 on average meaning one person benefits from 110 ‘vax’ injections or sets.

        Everyone needs to get head out of ass and wake up.

        The increased level of ultra violet radiation via seasonal movement of Sun on ecliptic increases levels of Vitamin D amongst the broad population has a much bigger impact on viral loads than the vaccine. I don’t think anyone has a clue about the vaccines other than they are toxic to some people.

      This is not quite the right question.
      A better one would be, “Are these shots safer than being exposed to COVID without them?”

      It is all supposed to be handled in the same way the Smallpox vaccine is handled. When I was a child, I got the Smallpox vaccine because, way back then, Smallpox was still killing and disfiguring people. As with _any_ other vaccine, the Smallpox vax carried with it a one in a million chance of adverse reaction and death, but those were better odds than what would have happened if I had contracted Smallpox.

      Since the last known case of Smallpox happened in 1977, no one is getting the Smallpox vax anymore (unless they work in a biowarfare lab), because the one in a million risk of the Smallpox vaccine is now a greater risk than contracting Smallpox.

      Things get murky when we apply this to COVID vaccines, because it is all being done so fast that there is not enough data to have a clear picture of the exact risks of the vaccine.

      It is likely that we will have a better idea about these questions by the end of the Summer when, by my slide-rule calculations, COVID will have gotten into every corner of the globe. At that point we can compare the outcomes in different areas.

      People are great about having widely different cultures, and it will help all of us to evaluate the usefulness of the vaccine. Suppose that most Californians decided to get the COVID vaccine, and most Arizonans decided not to get the vaccine. If California is back to normal by the end of the Summer and Arizona’s hospitals are swamped with dying people, it tells you that maybe it was a good idea to get the vaccine.
      If it turns out that there is no difference between them, or that California has full hospitals, we can use that to decide about getting vaccinated in the future.

      So, ‘no, the vaccine is not “safe.” ‘ It has risks like everything else, and we have to try to figure out whether its benefits outweigh its risks.
      Everything has a risk. You can drown in drinking water…

        Actually, it doesn’t come down to just a decision between which is more high risk: vaccine or covid infection?

        There is a third option not being publicly discussed, which is using the prophylactic treatment of weekly ivermectin, along with daily vitamin D3 and zinc supplementation. Studies done outside the US are showing an 85% effectiveness, with practically zero health risk. Ivermectin has a long record of safety.

        It is not being discussed, because if there are currently available options to prevent and treat covid, Pfizer, Moderna and J&J could not have gotten EUAs for their shots.

          And why is their so much censorship of facts / rumors about covid?

          3 times as many people under 25 died from the 2009 H1N1 “swine flu” epidemic as from Covid.
          Were any of the schools closed? Was there a mask mandate? Vaccination hysteria? No.

            What does the mortality rate have to be to warrant a vaccine?
            1%, 5% or 30% like Ebola.

            My grandmother lost her first husband and infant child in that pandemic, but he had TB. My great aunts’ and uncles’ families survived intact. Unlike most influenza, the Spanish flu took out mainly young adults, who had the most robust immune systems, My grandmother never even caught it, and she was in that category at the time. Neither did my other grandmother or her siblings, though she nursed her parents through a bout of it. It came through in winter, when the ground was too hard to dig graves. Her father’s farm was next to the undertakers, and when they ran out of room, the bodies were stored in her father’s barn. We buried her with a picture of that lost child.

            That pandemic is estimated to have taken out 50 to 100 million people and world population was only about a billion at that time. COVID is nothing in comparison. How many have to die? The number for COVID is trivial to date and mostly composed of those with co-morbidities with one foot in the grave already. I don’t subscribe to the theory that any death is too many. It’s an actuarial matter.

            Draupnir. Interesting. In their book Virus Mania Engelbrecht and Kohnlein show persuasively that diseases that can otherwise be satisfactoriiy expalined are continually blamed on viruses and that these claims always turn out to lack scientific evidence. There is a ‘talking book’ available on Bitchute (search Virus Mania I think).The 1918 flu affected servicemen so badly, they argue, because they had just been subject to an extraordinarily intense barrage of vaccinations. (I have come to the conclusion, like Dr Kohnlein, that there is really very little case for vaccines.) Also, just as with AIDS, ‘Covid’ and many other alleged epidemics, deaths were attributed to the flu when in reality the people had died of other causes, including (and in particular, I think, TB).

            German ‘Chef Artzt’ Gerd Leuchter argues that the 1918 flu was largely a media event, and if so it would just be like these other epidemics too. All around Britain there are war memorials to the dead of the Great War but when I grew up in the 60s and 70s I heard very little talk of the flu. Perhaps I heard nothing at all. Why would that be if it was just as bad as that war, if not worse. It does not make sense.

    About those vaccines, I notice that the government through various entities is doubling down on the absolute lie that yes, your employer can force you to get a vaccine to keep your job.

    The Emergency Use Authorization makes it clear that these shots cannot be mandatory, and also makes them illegal if there is a safe, effective treatment readily available.

      Don’t forget, earlier this month Pfizer submitted a request for full approval to the FDA for their shots. Despite all the reports of adverse events to VAERS, can’t imagine the FDA will say no. Unfathomable to me, and truly hope I am wrong.

      If the full approval is granted, things get a lot stickier for working stiffs not inclined to get any of these shots..

      Meanwhile across the pond, it was not well reported in MSM, but there were huge protests in Great Britain Saturday against lockdowns and vax passports.         Because enough people are well informed as to the legality of forcing people to get the EUA vaccines, it appears that they know they only have a short window to get these things approved so that they can force them on people.

        They are trying to isolate the stragglers by tricking as many people as possible into getting a vaccine they don’t need, thinking they are saving humanity or something, and also by withholding privileges such as breathing from the non-compliant.

        I look at a map of where Americans are now able to breathe without restrictions, and it amazes me that there are still people utterly convinced that we “need” vaccines to “get back to normal” and that those who choose not to be vaccinated are holding things up somehow.

          It’s not clear to me why you’re amazed.

          Isn’t that the whole point of vaccines – to firstly protect the vaccinated from the disease, and secondly to eliminate or greatly reduce community threat, and therefor allowing the economy and lifestyles to return to normal?

          Little kids have to be MMR immunised before they can go to childcare, and so on.

            They have said over and over that the covid jab does NOT stop you from getting infected by Covid19, it also does not stop you from passing it on to others!
            This is whether you are 5 or 95.
            The only thing it is “supposed” to do is keep you from getting so sick from it you need to be put in hospital. This has been proven as fact some people have already been infected with it a second time in Taiwan.

            With that in mind and the fact most kids could have covid, infect others and have no clue they have it or had, they being vaccinated is irrelevant except to the bottom line of of the vaccine COMPANIES. Follow the bouncing ball already you are smarter than this.
            Could it be the vaccine has other uses or properties besides protecting you from getting really sick at least from Covid 19.

            This might be the case, but my friends in Manhattan have all been vaccinated (couple in their 40s-50s, kids between 14 and 17).

            They did it for three reasons: (1) they’re rich and wish to travel, (b) a range of school and college related activity will depend on it, and (3) NYC is still a Petri Dish, and serious outbreaks are very possible.

            Of course they are very comfortable with getting the vaccines.

            Yeah well … they are part of the huge majority that trust the advice from health & medical professionals, and therefore that the vaccines are safe and effective.

            There is only a very small slice of the population (highly concentrated on here, I concede) who believe the virus is medically unsafe (or in its more extreme version, that the vaccines are intentionally harmful).

            These views (either the weak or strong version) are still very much held only by a dissident minority. Often those who believe the whole pandemic itself has been either a hoax, or intentional.

        I’m very glad that vaxx passports have come up against a wall, and equally glad the protests were covered by these outlets.

      HCQ as a treatment, when brought up by Trump. was met with immediate ridicule and worse. The same fate awaited Ivermectin if Trump mentioned it.

      TDS was used to shut down the inexpensive cure and send the country on an insane ride to ruin.

      Both, and a couple of other established, inexpensive cures are reported by practitioners to be quite effective both as prophylaxis and treatment. Their existence negates the need for the EUA.

      Following the money, the EUA positions a few pharma companies to reap immense profits from an experimental biologic agent.

        Remdesivir hasn’t performed well in trials, by contrast, so it’s good that the cheap one works better. Dexamethasone has been in medical use since 1961.

      I got flu like symptoms over new year, thanks Wife. She called the doc, we were told to get tested next day. got results in 48 hours, It was the plague of course. I took some ivermectin I’d bought back in April and was fine two days later, bit tired,
      I was ripped off: I’d paid $6 on Amazon and my local Tractor Supply Store had it for $4.

      The homework I’d done showed they were using 5 times the dose I took as a deworming agent in 6 year old African girls so I was reasonably sure it was safe.

      The “test” was the RT-PCR test and no-one could tell me how many cycles they ran to achieve their positive result. Not the lab-tech who took the blood. The Lab employee who called me. My Physician, or two people he claimed to speak to. Nor could the two employees of “Corona Virus Maryland” the government body set up to keep us safe.

      My conclusion is that this is all about getting a vaccine regime in place to be rolled out as convenient for God knows what purpose. I shall not be taking any vaccine at least until they’ve finished the animal testing: That would be you fuckers.

      My recollection was that we were told Trump had dexamethasone, vitamins supplementation, Remdesivir, and monoclonal antibodies. I don’t recall who responded but they corroborated that. I read the long article above and the words ‘which President Trump used at Walter Reed hospital, unreported by the press” do not appear. Read the Mountainhome magazine article and see if you can find that quote. It’s long, but I don’t think it appears. I heard in another context that Trump MAY have used Ivermectin but I have seen no proof of that. It would be useful if HE said as much. I have it and will use it if a breakthrough virus gets after me. I have moved on from worrying about the virus– but I am not through watching how it is being used to institute new controls like vaccine passes.

        I seem to recall he was given Regeneron (that would be the monoclonal antibodies). There was some fuss about it because of claims it used fetal cells in development, like some of the vaccines.

        The problem is, I presume, that if you give someone a cocktail of treatments, one or more of them may have contributed nothing at all, but people will still say something or other works because because someone took it and recovered. Or they may only work in combination. Or the patient may have got better anyway. Which is why we have RCTs!

        Just a hint, most conspiracy theories are true and eventually are verified. Once the cloud of opposition from the opposing side is dispelled.

        If Arizona shows that the election was illegal, one of two things are going to happen, both rending events.

        One. The government orders a new election. This is worthless as a recount unless something is done about election laws to remove the corruption first.

        Two. The Democrats and the rest of the Deep State go to war, of some sort, against the people. They will not give up their ill gotten gains without a fight.

        I do think a measure of how ineffectual Trump became is the fact that he labeled the voting processes as corrupted last year. From his DOJ, not a peep. No activity at all prior to the election with known illegal voting law changes, and unanimous support for the Deep State once the election was stolen.

          I’ve frequently expressed my deep scepticism about the competence and good faith of Beagle Boys (Florida) Inc in conducting the Arizona “exercise”, but I have also tried to think through the possible scenarios.

          It’s entirely possible that the exercise literally can’t prove any skulduggery, and while I doubt that, it is interesting that we are not getting any sensational tidbits on a weekly basis. Maybe they literally can’t find anything untoward.

          But if they do – what are the downstream outcomes of that?

          One. The government orders a new election.

          Who in “the government”? There is absolutely no constitutional path for a new election, either in Arizona or the whole country. The Supreme Court can’t over-ride the election either, and if they tried, Congress and the President would just laugh in their face.

          Two. The Democrats and the rest of the Deep State go to war, of some sort, against the people.

          I’m not at all sure what this means. If the Arizona exercise alleges proven fraud, then there will be a mother-of-all-media wars, and very partisan, but it’ll blow over. The Dems will claim it was a fix, the Republicans will claim that Trump wuz robbed. What changes?

          And as I’ve said frequently, I think it’s demonstrable that the Republicans are far more in cahoots with the Deep State than the Dems have ever been … and it goes back a very long way – at least as far as the attempts by capital to thwart FDR during the Depression.

          We could also mention McCarthyism, JFK, the Vietnam War fraud, Kent State, the Federalist Society, the Global Financial Crisis … and a thousand other events, both political and financial.

            The Arizona legislature can’t “dismiss” a duly sworn-in Senator just because they want to. The time for contesting elections has passed.

    Both of my sisters got their shots and all of their children. My 89-year-old mother wants to get hers, but thank God, she still has a rash from shingles. It’s taking a long time to fade, and she wants to be free of it before she risks a shot. I don’t say much. I don’t want to upset her, but she is failing rapidly. I know she has one foot in the grave, but I’m not in favor of pushing her into it. Anecdotal evidence appears to indicate that the frail and very elderly tend not to do well with it.

      The elderly, due to their aging immune systems probably have immune systems that over react to Covid and tear their own body cells apart as a consequence. Remember in the battle zone, T cells proportionally kill as many body cells as Viruses. Autopsies of Covid deaths show the battle damage in the lungs resembles Swiss cheese.

      If a person is beyond the effective immune age, the vaccine could fire up the same sort of response as it tries to kill the spike proteins. T cells are chemical killers, B cells become antibodies and physically block the virus attack on cells, antibodies also congeal the viruses to they can be attacked easier, c4 Tcells coordinate the whole thing and most importantly turn off the inflammation when no longer needed to stop body cell destruction, and cytokine enzymes are released by every WBC type to control body reaction such as fever and permeability of blood vessels to allow the WBCs to migrate into body areas to kill the antigens. The latter is why areas get red around antigen attacks like vaccine injections as RBC leak into areas under the skin.

      Beyond a certain age, the risk increases of getting the jab. It is still up to your mother unless you have MPOA.

      One of my relatives passed last week from complications caused by the Vaccine. She was type 1 diabetic.
      My grandma is 91 and was healthy until she got the jab. Now she has heart arrhythmia and has to take heart medication.
      Another relative also has heart issues after getting the jab.

      I now know more people that have complications after the vaccine then I know that had any issues from the virus itself.

      The vaccine is the real virus.

    A very Conservative friend of mind took the vaccine and swears by it. She also had her 105-year-old mother vaccinated. Told me she did fine with it. But a month later her mother, who had been in excellent health, died. No cause given. “Just old age.” Friend refuses to make the connection. None of us in her circle has the heart to suggest otherwise.

          I agree Tedros was a bit ambiguous, but the UK guy got it right who specifically said:

            Asymptomatic is a thing, otherwise it would have been as easy to contain as SARS-1, which is not believed to have transmitted asymptomatically, even though it was much more dangerous.

            Otherwise you are saying that people deliberately infected their own families, in the many situations where the infection spread in people’s homes. This very much happened in Italy, where there is a lot of multi-generational living, and among Asian families, with similar living arrangements.

            Many people were horrified that they took the infection home and it killed their relatives. People are particularly infectious a couple of days before their symptoms appear. I don’t know why it is so important to you to deny this. It is presumably why six cancer patients died after an outbreak of Covid in one of my local hospitals. Or maybe you think they let coughing, spluttering Covid bearers into units full of vulnerable cancer patients.

            You can still be opposed to routine vaccination without believing things that aren’t true.

            The likely percentage of asymptomatic transmission was revised downwards, but it still exists. Alyson Pollock wrote an article with the updated percentages but I don’t have it to hand.

            Yes – very will stated GA, and the argument is compelling.

            Asymptomatic transmission has been one of the defining features of the Covid-19 pandemic.

            It is the entire logic behind mass testing, why people are tested before they can fly, work, or enter critical environments, and why travellers (and others) are subjected to 14 days isolation or quarantine.

            It is why contact tracing is such a complex business – many many people have contracted the virus, and transmitted it, without knowledge of it.

            I don’t know why it is so important to you to deny this.

            This is a darn good question – but Yoho is merely one on here for whom Cognitive Dissonance is their chosen lifestyle … where denial of reality, science, data, and proof is as easy of breathing.

            And I guess if you’re going to deny the harsh reality of the whole pandemic then denying asymptomatic transmissions comes as easily as breathing.

            My gawd, why are people so unable to comprehend?

            Presymptomatic is a subset of asymptomatic. It is known that in the couple of days before symptoms appear, people about to be ‘unhealthy’ but who don’t know it yet are infectious.

            I didn’t ask for a lockdown. i don’t support vaccinating people who don’t wish to be vaccinated. I don’t wish to know how many new ‘cases’ appeared today. But I don’t feel the need to make reality bend to fit my narrative.

            And I don’t believe that any responsible person at the Cancer Centre of the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh gave approval for a person with Covid symptoms to enter the Unit and give Covid to a bunch of seriously ill cancer patients, leading to the death of six of them within a matter of days.

            But, maybe, after all the efforts they went to for a year to keep Covid and non-Covid patients separate, they just went to work one day and thought fuck it, I can’t be arsed today – anyone can come in, coughing, suffocating or anything else. Open house.

            I’d like to add some information about the asymptomatic transmission discussion from this side of the world.
            First “Presymptomatic is a subset of asymptomatic.” Isn’t true, the sets are disjoint. Second, over here you can get good symptom masking drugs over the counter. Most importantly last year when they had a cluster outbreak at the ministry of fisheries the Koreans tested everyone in the building and contact traced everyone including those without symptoms and found no transmissions from the people who never displayed symptoms. They did find and isolate transmissions from people who did develop symptoms. I think it was 29 people in the asymptomatic group. Their contact tracing is more thorough here than in the US. That doesn’t mean that asymptomatic transmission doesn’t occur of course.

            Here when their were few cases they used to publish the locations visited by cases before they wee identified. Many of them visited pharmacies on their way home from the restaurant the day before being tested.

    The Texas legislature banned teaching Critical Race Theory in schools and here’s a sample:

    “House Bill 3979 makes certain that critical race philosophies, including the 1619 founding myth, are removed from our school curriculums statewide. When parents send their children to school, they want their students to learn critical thinking without being indoctrinated with misinformation charging that America and our Constitution are rooted in racism,” Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) said about the passage of the bill.”

    For now, this won’t be taught. But a lot of people are moving to Texas from California and New York and many new Democrats are being ushered over the southern border so how long this will last is anyone’s guess.

        It’s hard to say but banning CRT was a good start to holding the line. History should be taught truthfully and slavery and the suffering of their descendants was real and should not be glossed over. But the equally true history is the fact that the Civil Rights Act was passed and the Jim Crow laws are gone and the playing field has been leveled to a great degree.

        MLK put it very well — he hoped we’d be judged by the content of our character and not the color of our skin. What we saw in Minneapolis this last year was the exact opposite and I don’t know if this false narrative can ever be challenged now. It’s been blasted out to all of us as Holy Writ and to disagree is a career-ender. If your skin is black, you can justify your actions and this will do more damage to the black community than we can imagine.

    A Covid-madness story to share and not a particularly nice one. Friends of ours who own a restaurant near our village (that has finally been ‘allowed’ to reopen) had a patron in last night. Said patron choked on his steak leaving the owner and a waiter to take turns administering CPR after they failed to dislodge the food.

    When the paramedics arrived, want to guess what they did? They wouldn’t touch him until they’d fully-suited up against Covid. Five full minutes spent outside the restaurant getting suits, gloves, masks and goggles on before they would even go inside and touch him.

    That’s how fucking crazy we’ve gone. You have to go another five minutes without oxygen or professional help because of ‘Covid procedures’.

    The guy eventually got laid out on one of the restaurant tables so the people with him could say goodbye before they carted him off to the morgue.

      Locally, emergency personnel are slipping the mask loops over their ears and pulling on their gloves while walking to open the back of the ambulance to grab gear/gurney. Gloves have been used for years, originally due to HIV.

      Cannot imagine bothering with full PPE when someone needs help ASAP.

      Slug, what a sad story. As I wrap up over 2 decades in S Fl before heading to the northern, saner part of the state, I observe 2 strange phenomena. Both weird, but not as terrible as what you wrote.

      One, the Virus Joy Shamans (shamen?). Random folk, gloved and masked, power walking and waving signs at motorists: JOY, Wear Mask!, Get the Vaccine! THANK THE HELPERS, etc. Others congregate in high traffic parking lots, some in full covid spacesuits (temps are in the 90’s already), others just masked, trying to persuade the maskless to accept a free mask. As far as I can tell they are not paid to do these things.

      Two, tens of thousands of new arrivals from the NE & Cali weekly, looking to stay, sending RE prices to the stratosphere, making alliances with the blue locals (managerial classes, academia, retirees, minorities w grievances) to harass the red local element (Trump & DeSantis supporters, covid sceptics, white working class). A favorite arena for confrontations is making scenes & telling us long time residents, many of us who have refused to wear a mask from the very beginning, that we need to start wearing it.

      Ron Anselmo has written here about the way liberals start to try and “enlighten” locals the second they arrive, escaping their badly mismanaged cities. They take over the local media, seek to influence sheriff’s elections (sheriffs in FL, even in the south, have remained very anti blm and have stated from the beginning of the cv hysteria that they refuse to arrest anyone for lockdown or mask violations). Well, those New Yorkers think they’ll fix that.

I’ve only visited four of your states but there was always something both awe-inspiring and intimidating about it when I visited. The only other place I’ve ever got those feelings was in Israel.

      It seems like the disease reported in the American news is different from the one they’re fighting over here in Asia.

      Early in the pandemic there was an outbreak on an aircraft carrier and they reported that many sailors were asymptomatic. I wondered why they didn’t experiment with those sailors. solate them in a sterile room for a few hours, playing video games or something, then test the room and game consoles for infectious covid virus. Compare the three groups, clean – no positive PCR, positive PCR and never develop symptoms and positive PCR with symptoms. It seemed like a straightforward way to determine the infectivity of asymptomatic people.

      Sounds like the movie “The Matrix”.

      I’ve often told people, we are living in the Matrix–most of us (including myself much of the time) in an illusion.

      However, I (like to think) I am aware that things are not as they seem.

      And over time, I’ve noticed some people who are deeply rooted, and invested in, the illusion, are starting to see disconnects that are making them think. They’re not read for this space yet, but maybe one day…

      In this space, starting with JHK and many commenters (some of whom I have found very informative!), many pieces of the puzzle are evident, and I get a clearer view of actuality.

      In both, the illusion and the actuality, the people in charge are always willing to resort to obfuscation and distraction to pursue their agendas. I think we are seeing that more than ever in my adult lifetime (1980s to now)

            One of my favorite pages shows a chart shaped like (I kid you not) a Corona particle that is maps out all of the information that is going to go into the global ID. It was ofc, produced before the Corona Hoax.

            You also get access to all of their wargames in which they lay out what they are going to do. One particularly interesting passage discusses how in the post-pandemic society all of the vaxxed drones will be living in smart cities owning nothing, while “groups of malcontents” inhabit the countryside removed from society.

            One of the most amazing things about all of this is how much is in plain sight. Speeches, books, wargames (SPARS). Many have also forgotten the Gates claimed Trump was going to face a major pandemic during his presidency. And like magic …

          This must rate as the most out-of-context quote of the year. The total quote is: “You’ll own nothing. And you’ll be happy. What you want you’ll rent, and it’ll be delivered by drone.”

          I do think it’s a fanciful, techno-fetish statement (as is most of the WEF Great Reset – in fact so much of it undergraduate naïve to be laughable) – but it was not about taking everyone’s private property over the next nine years.

      One similar theory, was that the Nazis knew they were going to lose the war, and hid assets and technology, selling the latter to both the American and the Russians, but keep them in balance.     Looking at the NYT this afternoon, you would have thought the terrible events in Tulsa, OK had just happened last week, not 100 years ago.

    Meanwhile, all the destruction and terrible things that happened in the last year, in many large US cities, have been largely ignored by the MSM.

    In Minneapolis alone, over 1500 businesses were damaged or outright destroyed. Lake Avenue, which was once a very busy commercial artery in the city, was leveled, and much of it still is rubble.

    But there are no answers for this. It would demand answers about the current state of US culture that have nothing to do with the dynamics of events of Tulsa, OK, that “news” organizations like the New York Times aren’t even capable of thinking about.

    So, we are stuck with the ideological toilet bowl of lies that the NYT offers.

        Watching the news tonight, there was a segment on the Tulsa 1921 massacre. Over 300 people were killed and the area destroyed. An interview with a young man who lives there now was about reparations for this event.

        What I don’t understand is how is this money to be raised and to whom is it to be paid? The people it happened to are long dead, ditto the people who actually did it.

        Are only direct descendents to be paid? How much? Are only direct descendants of people who lived there 100 years ago to be taxed for this fund? And who can say they profited by this?

    Jim Caviezel, best known for playing Jesus in Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ and his starring role in CBS’ Person of Interest, made people do a double take when he appeared at a right-wing conference in April to promote his forthcoming anti-child trafficking movie.

    It wasn’t entirely shocking that Caviezel was at the Health and Freedom Conference, which was attended by former President Donald Trump’s usual posse, including the conspiracy theory-loving trio of MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, attorney Lin Wood, and former Trump lawyer Sidney “release the Kraken” Powell. The actor has proudly been one of few outspoken conservative Christians in Hollywood, counting Steve Bannon as a good friend and often closing out interviews by reciting one of Ronald Reagan’s speeches.

    But while talking about his new movie Sound of Freedom, Caviezel went on a wild tangent about a QAnon conspiracy theory called “adrenochroming.” The event’s 4,500-strong crowd had a decent showing of raised hands when asked if they were familiar with the term. Essentially, it’s an insane theory rooted in anti-Semitism (and the Pixar film Monsters, Inc.) that liberal elites and members of Hollywood are secretly killing children in order to harvest adrenochrome from their blood for psychedelic experiences, satanic rituals, and even to extend their lifespan.

    Here’s how Caviezel explained it. “I’ll just simplify it,” he began. “When you are scared, you produce adrenaline. You’re an athlete, you get in the fourth quarter, you have adrenaline that comes out. If a child knows he’s going to die, his body will secrete this adrenaline. They have a lot of terms that they use that [Tim Ballard] takes me through, but it’s the worst horror I’ve ever seen. The screaming alone, even if I’d never, ever, ever, ever saw it, it’s beyond.”

    “These people that do it,” he paused, seeming to hold back tears. “There’ll be no mercy for them.”

    The crowd burst into applause.

          Yoho, Mary, that is not what I said. What I tried to convey is that human sacrifice has been with us for millenia. So there’s no reason to assume it’s not still done. I also tried to give some pointers re scholarly work that supports this theory.

          How it went from that acknowledgement that this sinister practice may still be around to “this guy supports human sacrifice” is a mystery.

          Read the great corpus of work of Mircea Eliade for some mapping of this.

          I do believe pop culture has been full of occult references since at least the 50’s. And statistically it is likely some monsters still seek power sacrificing victims.

    I detect no Angst here. The Deep South with its glorious spring of unusually cool weather and today mid 70s with the neighborhood pool open and the Covid menace fading is feeling grand. We attended a large lovely wedding last night with a reception overlooking the city and the young people were polite (and thin) and well dressed and lovely dresses with no tattoos anywhere. We were substituting for my son who was at another friend’s wedding in Texas. I drove my “old” Acura TL(2013) and it looked downright shabby among the new SUV’s. Gas has gone over $3.00 but I haven’t heard a grumble. My neighbor sold his house with multiple cash offers in one day for as he put it “substantially over asking”. (I’ll check out Zillow).

    I have expected some comeuppance since before the GFC of 2008 but pretend money is ineluctable and so I will go grab my towel and head to the cook out and reflect on those who gave their all either duplicitously or heroically that I might be in this exact situation…

The officer supposedly bludgeoned to death received all sorts of honors.       One of the peculiarities of the Right (especially pandemic-deniers) is their belief in the unlimited power of the media (particularly MSM and “left” media – whatever that might be) to totally brainwash the people, and they’re being led to some form of slaughter, or at least enslavement.

      The Right of course get the “Troof” through rogue Internet blatherers, and trumpet their independence of thought like a badge of honour.

      As Slugger has nicely pointed out, in broader society there are millions of people who become local Karen-Police, and there are millions of others who disregard the restrictions and lockdown rules that are applied.

      The reality is that people do have a view of the world derived from many sources other than just broadcast media or government spokespeople they have a long history of being part of their own reality, and that of their families, friends, clubs, and workplaces.

      In my view, far too many regulars heap scorn on the “sheeple” – as if any alternative views to their own are heresy or blasphemy. It makes the Right (incl pandemic-deniers) look rather like a fervid cult, and intolerant of other views, and even science itself.

      Having said that, I think there are difficult public-health issues in play: how serious is the Covid-19 pandemic, and are all the lockdown and quarantine restrictions the appropriate responses? Sometimes it seems a bit heavy-handed (such as closing a wide range of small businesses, schools, and other activity, when the real risk is tiny).

      However while this virus is not particularly lethal, it does cause death and very serious illness, including long-term effects, it is highly transmissible via aerosol, and critically, it is very infectious from those who have not (or not yet) developed symptoms.

      Testing regimes, masks, and social-distancing are required – because the reality is, we are always only one breach away from a major outbreak somewhere, and a huge burden again on the hospital system.

      Being a pandemic-denier and believing it is just a MSM beat-up to cower the people into submission – is ridiculously off the mark in my view, and has no merit.

      For one thing, the MSM rely on advertising, and mostly consumer advertising, and those companies want the community out there buying ad consuming. Very few players have a stake is over-stating the reality of the pandemic.

    A note to anyone who has a paper edition of an encyclopedia on their bookshelves: don’t sell them in a garage sale. Keep them. They are a more solid source of basic knowledge than searching the internet in many instances. Take health care topics for example. Searches will nowadays usually result in a slew of articles by the CDC, NIH et. al. with a political angle and changing information over a relatively short time. Even definitions change. The online encyclopedias also “update” their articles too frequently before the dust has settled.

People that I would say really are the best and the brightest, those that go into the hard sciences and medicine. seemingly have got this complex where they think they ought to be able to do whatever they feel like because what they’re doing is well, science, right? And who can stand in the way of “science”? Right? Certainly not you or me because we just aren’t on their exalted level. I mean, they’re so smart. I mean, they’re the experts and what do we know compared to them? Right?

      If it is really true that the US funded gain-of-function research in a Chinese Lab, I am staggered but not surprised. Once you a very big powerful nation, with trillions at stake, you will do anything to maintain your position. Even if it means the sacrifice of millions of defence personnel, or even millions of civilians.

      So if I had to have a guess, I would go towards “monumental fuck-up” too, based on hubris and very very weird thinking somewhere deep in Washington DC.

    I just want to raise a question about vaccine efficacy as although I am against forced vaccination and won’t take one myself I can accept that for many people they may the lesser of two evils.

    After the UK’s initial wave in April 2020, deaths were back to normal levels by the end of May and stayed that way for six months until November. There were no vaccines around then.

    Similarly, the second wave disappeared at the end of February and has remained that way since. People are citing the success of the vaccination programme but I’m not seeing how it’s proven anything one way or the other yet.

    The real test will be whether deaths go up again at the end of this year and by how much.

    What does hubby make of all this, Alba?

          No – because the common cold very rarely kills anyone. But I do get an annual flu shot – because of my age, and because we travel a lot (at least pre-Covid) by air, and have caught flu after flying in the past.

          So essentially you are saying that you do not believe in herd immunity? Certainly, it sounds like you do not believe that there can be herd immunity with covid.

          Of course I accept the principles of herd immunity, however to achieve herd immunity “naturally” among say 100 million people requires far too high a death and serious illness sacrifice, and huge economic cost.

          An effective and essentially universal vaccine is a far more preferable strategy. We are not dealing with the common cold or a “bad” flu – this is a SARS virus, and can be very deadly for the vulnerable.

          One big issue is whether the vaccines will work for variants – present and future.

    Well, final Memorial Day weekend casualties coming in. This is a small state, barely 110 miles × 60 miles, so any news is, in effect, local.

    In most of our small towns, where western civilization still holds on (by a thread), small ceremonies and parades were the order of the day. In the cities, distinguished residents had other ideas. People shot in Hartford, Windsor Locks, Hamden, New Haven and Bridgeport, probably about 10 shot in total. Speaking of Windsor Locks, the “Noose” story, so prominent last week, has quietly disappeared, leading me to believe a Hoax has been uncovered, which requires the entire episode to be buried and forgot about.

    In Portland, Seattle, and Minneapolis, what did Memorial Day ceremonies look like? I imagine a mob of black clad orcs, marching down Commercial Street, hoisting a Hammer & Sickle banner, dragging unsuspecting motorists from cars and beating them up, smashing out storefront plate glass with crowbars, and throwing frozen water bottles at police.

      Owl/OG, what’s the story with Sidney? For a few brief moments at those press conferences I was excited by the way she was talking. She sounded so confident about her case(s) and I couldn’t imagine someone of her standing would be saying the things she said if they weren’t plausible. I also wanted to marry Jenna Ellis.

      What happened? Why was the evidence not heard or was it never produced? I’m not trying to pick a fight, nothing would please me more to see Joe, Ho & Co dragged from the WH, I just don’t know how it all suddenly went away.

        No one knows, other than that the courts refused to hear it. That in itself says it all.

        SP said they have reams of evidence and that the case was essentially watertight. One of the witnesses they had also used to help run stacked elections in S. America using same software and machines used in the US.

        One thing that appears to be common in all of the countries undergoing the Great Reset is that the judiciary has been under attack over years, and activist judges are in key positions. Rainer Fuellmich at the Corona Ausschuss discusses this in detail. The head of the German Constitutional Court is a curious case that comes to mind, in the wake of them upholding what amounts to a modern Enabling Act.

        Because Sidney “Kraken” Powell, the execrable Jenna Ellis, and the dye-dripping Rudy Giuliani are fools, liars, and incompetent.

        They were all hat and no cattle – once they got in front of judges – from the lowest county petty sessions through to the Supremes – they had nuthin’. Only rumour, hearsay, third-party scuttlebutt, pro forma affidavits, Internet jive, and wild mathematical theories of what shoulda happened.

        In other words, everything except evidence acceptable to SIXTY courts. And I wouldn’t fall for any baloney about corrupt, biased, nervous, or brainwashed judges – it’s all nonsense. Most are pro-Republican, and many are products of the far-right Federalist Society.

        And all these attempted court cases failed for the obvious reason, in my view – there wasn’t electoral fraud. If there was electoral fraud it would have been exposed by now … but they’ve got nuthin’.

        And goodness knows that President Biden (and the rest of the Dem gerontocracy) aren’t that inspirational, but still hugely preferable to (and more competent than) the former crime family.

        Lunatics like Sidney Powell, Lin Wood, the MyPillowGuy, and Newsmax – have been sued by Dominion and/or Smartmatic – and perhaps they will finally realise that lying for Trump is a career disaster.
