In case you don’t know what condition our condition is in, the name for it is a crisis of legitimacy. Four years of seditious harassment by a “Resistance” within-and-without the US Government culminates in the janky election of a mentally incapable grifter… run by whom? Does anyone seek to know who, exactly, is pulling Joe Biden’s strings? My guess would be…duh… Barack Obama and his posse. When will he be outed? Maybe today… or next week at the latest. Heads will explode to see liberalism’s bowling trophy fall off the national mantelpiece. If you think Nancy Pelosi is running around in a hebephrenic fugue state now, just wait.

A crisis of legitimacy means that citizens have lost faith in their institutions, that is, in the armature of agreements and procedures for running this society. Do you have any idea how much damage RussiaGate did to the country? The three-year-long mind-fuck perpetrated by the highest officials of the FBI and the CIA ruined whatever was left of their reputations. Not only are citizens not safe from the powers of life-and-death vested in these agencies, but they know that officials who wield that power recklessly won’t be held responsible when acting outside the law. Are we any better now than the Russians under Leonid Brezhnev?

UkraineGate and the first Trump impeachment it spawned was a CIA operation that used CIA agent Eric Ciaramella and Intel Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson (a former DOJ RussiaGate player) to cover up the influence-peddling crimes of Joe Biden’s family behind a smokescreen of perfidy fanned over the nation by the notorious RussiaGate liar, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA). The State Department assisted in that op, and now the whole country knows that they are also ethically unreliable.

In both of these gigantic flimflams, the president could not get any satisfactory scrutiny of the injuries attempted against him, because the ops were run by the very agencies needed to provide that scrutiny over unlawful official behavior. Did the DOJ and its stepchild, the FBI, show any interest in the recent voting irregularities, or is it just convenient to let it all slide so they can answer to a new president, with a clear and urgent interest in burying the matter?

Is it any wonder that a huge chunk of the population doesn’t believe the election was on-the-level? Federal law enforcement has not revealed the identities of exactly who incited the invasion of the Capitol building — and do you believe who The New York Times and CNN claim it was: white supremacist Nazis? Has it not occurred to the “winner” and his handlers that such a public mood of distrust will thunder through our national affairs going forward?

It’s late in the game but something appears to still be in play, and the Resistance is keenly aware of it: a trove of declassified documents laying out their crimes against their own countrymen. Nothing has stuck to the Resistance because they controlled the levers of adjudication. What if, under the extraordinary conditions of the moment, those levers are transferred to one arm of the government that has not disgraced itself: the military? I wrote in this blog more than once in recent years that political disorder could lead to this. Has that moment come?

Thousands of troops are billeted in and around Washington DC now. Why is that? The figment of more white supremacists coming to reenact last week’s incident at the Capitol? I don’t think so. A BLM / Antifa riot, like the ones staged in cities (including Washington DC) all through the summer and fall? (Weren’t they mostly peaceful?) Or is something else up, something that will mark an epochal shift in the fortunes of the USA?

Did you catch Joe Biden on TV last night? Did his appearance fill you with the sweet, warm unction of reassurance? Or did you get the impression that I got: of a near-mummy in a state of panicky confusion, sent from his hidey-hole out to a podium to give an impersonation of someone in authority? I didn’t believe the performance for a minute. The poor schlemiel is headed straight into history’s discontinued merchandise bin. He will probably wonder what awful vanity propelled him down the memory hole as he descends into the darkness… but his memory preceded him down the memory hole and he will have forgotten how the whole thing started. His exit will be a merciful one compared to the people who trussed him up and shoved him onstage to flesh out their lame narrative.

Joe Biden: a virtual candidate elected in a virtual election, sworn-in via a virtual inauguration to preside over a virtual presidency. Virtually no one has physically attended any public event with him in attendance since 2019. See also ‘Wizard of Oz.’

    • hmuller January 15, 2021 at 11:15 am #

You mention “The Wizard of Oz”, a classic in the art of unseen political manipulation. Glinda (aka the Good Witch of the North) maneuvers Dorothy’s house to fall on one witch, killing her. Then maneuvers Dorothy into murdering another witch. When the Kansas crybaby persuades the Wizard to leave Oz forever in order to take her home, the plan misfires.

So Glinda tells the stranded Dorothy she could have gone home any time by clicking together her ruby red heels together.

Why didn’t you tell me this earlier?

Oh, you wouldn’t have believed me.

Bullshit, you disingenuous, power hungry, glitter fairy!

All this leaves Glinda large and in charge of Oz, supported by legions of woke, pint sized, singing supporters – no doubt promised more stimulus checks.

So who is our Glinda? Hillary, Kamala, Michelle?

And here all along I thought it was just a parable about the gold standard…

        • Yohannon January 15, 2021 at 1:03 pm #

Glinda was the Gold, and all gold is fool’s gold when it comes to money. You understood, but only in part.

        • Blackbird January 15, 2021 at 1:42 pm #

Or more widely, a parable about parasitic-capitalism: “I’ll sell you what you don’t need/already have – because I’ve convinced you that you will die screaming if you don’t have it – at a price that may cost you your life/soul.

      • Yohannon January 15, 2021 at 1:02 pm #

Yes, not all that shines is gold. And not all that doesn’t shine is not gold. Glinda and her sister of the South were evil. The Witches of the North and South were good. Dorothy should have given those shoes back.

Aragorn looked like nothing but a dirty ranger, but he was the heir of Elendil, the true King.

The Deplorables are the True Americans, not the Southrons or Easterlings.

Here is how far Biden/Harris and Co. are going to try to take us:

      https://notthebee.com/article/welp-here-we-go-la-public-schools-will-require-all-students-to-get-the-covid-vaccine

If 40% of doctors and nurses are refusing the Covid 19 vaccine, how many parents will refuse to get their children an experimental vaccine with so many proven side-effects (including death).

I hope thousands of parents refuse this edict and elect to homeschool their kids by suing the State of California for the money they need to educate their children.

I hope they get the signatures they need to recall Newsom and elect a governor who will bring some sense to this state, especially when forcing minors to get a jab for a disease they are 99.9% guaranteed to survive.

I feel like the powers that be are pushing and pushing and pushing until the straw WILL break the camel’s back and citizens will say, “That. Is. It.”

Seriously. I feel a breaking point coming and soon.

A crisis of legitimacy. That’s a good way of putting it.

  3. Disaffected January 15, 2021 at 9:43 am #

Great post! I remember saying a year or two back on this very blog that the only thing that could save us would be a military coup. Extreme measure and one not to be taken lightly whatsoever, to be sure, but just as true as it ever was, I think. Recent events have proven that, yes, we’re at that point now. The damn civvies just ain’t up to the task anymore.

  4. NickelthroweR January 15, 2021 at 9:49 am #

    Greetings,

If the very first thing your administration accomplishes is to borrow 2 trillion dollars and give it away just to pay down debt then the end can not be very far off.

I am furious over this election and I have a strong desire to go fight something or someone over it but at the end of the day, these klowns will destroy themselves much faster than I could ever hope or help.

The ONLY question to be resolved is this: What happens to the 100 million useless eaters? The long emergency has no place for them.

    • Beryl of Oyl January 15, 2021 at 9:51 am #

Bill Gates has been buying up farmland in America. I’m sure there’s a plan.

      • akmofo January 15, 2021 at 10:07 am #

The plan is to grow food exclusively for China. The Communist government has been buying huge tracks of farmland in Africa and Latin America Canada and now the US via its surrogates.

        • bluekayak January 15, 2021 at 10:14 am #

They’ve got to ship it over a 1,000 miles by rail and truck before it even gets on a container ship… a lotta things can go wrong along the way… just sayin’…

          • akmofo January 15, 2021 at 10:22 am #

If there’s one thing the Chinese know how to do well, is to do things under the radar. They completely took over Canada and nobody has even noticed.

          • akmofo January 15, 2021 at 10:27 am #

Meaning, American food stuff will be shipped to our pals in Canada and from Canada their PM TrueDope® will ship it to China.

Is Bill Gates the biggest US land owner?

          • Beryl of Oyl January 15, 2021 at 12:01 pm #

I believe so, but I’d have to check that.

          • JMR January 15, 2021 at 1:20 pm #

No, that would be the federal government. I’m sure he’s not far behind though.

          • MrMangoOnMyShoulder January 15, 2021 at 1:39 pm #

I believe Ted Turner owns a shitload of land as well.

          • Blackbird January 15, 2021 at 2:08 pm #

            Biggest owner of Farmland anyway…
ForbesDotCom: “America’s Biggest Owner Of Farmland Is Now Bill Gates” – I got about 10 seconds of reading before the paywall came up…
From “The Hill”: “Gates has accumulated 242,000 acres of farmland that stretches from Washington to Florida.” Louisiana: “nearly 70,000 acres”, Arkansas: 47,927 acres, Nebraska: 20,588 acres.

          • GreenAlba January 16, 2021 at 11:09 am #

Not that I have any particular interest in Bill Gates, but I took the trouble to look up what his 242,000 acres of farmland represents in the context of total US farmland.

So now 0.027% of my brain cells are troubled by this factoid.

            https://www.statista.com/statistics/196104/total-area-of-land-in-farms-in-the-us-since-2000/#:~:text=This%20statistic%20shows%20the%20total,decreased%20to%20899%20million%20acres.

Recall that 0.027% is still 0.027%, whether it’s applied to Covid deaths or farmland owned by Bill Gates, so people can choose their level of anxiety accordingly, but try to be consistent. Perhaps.

          • Yohannon January 16, 2021 at 12:06 pm #

Middle aged women are going into uncontrollable and Unceasing (add italics) spasms after taking the vaccine. But don’t worry (or care), it’s only a few.

          • MrMangoOnMyShoulder January 16, 2021 at 12:14 pm #

Alba – I must admit I too would expect the larget farmland owner in the US to own much more than that. Not exactly a takeover.

          • GreenAlba January 16, 2021 at 1:28 pm #

            MrMango

Indeed. In fact I think Mr Gates would do well not to buy up too much of his country’s farmland – and if anyone ever needed a bit of good PR it’s Mr G, since he seems to get the blame for all the world’s ills (I make no judgement on this as I simply haven’t followed his doings closely enough).

If he’s got some spare cash, though, perhaps he could buy up some of those meat-processing plants I’ve seen and read about, and clean them up a bit. They need some PR too. Some of them are enough to turn a person vegan. 🙂

          • GreenAlba January 16, 2021 at 3:53 pm #

            Janos

“Middle aged women are going into uncontrollable and Unceasing (add italics) spasms after taking the vaccine. But don’t worry (or care), it’s only a few.”

Is that one of those ‘I’ll have what she’s having’ moments?

I don’t expect to be offered it for months. Hubby’s getting it next Wednesday, so if he goes into an uncontrollable – and possibly italicised – spasm, because of his allergy thingy, I promise to let you know, in the interests of transparency.

In the meantime, over 3 million people have had the vaccine administered in the UK and we don’t seem to be overwhelmed by adverse reactions. And deaths from the hoax itself are running at around 1200-1300/day. So people can make their own minds up.

I’ll still be at risk of catching the hoax through my husband’s work, but will get no help from his vaccination, as it seemingly doesn’t affect transmissibility. Perhaps it will lower viral loads among the vaccinated. One can only hope.

          • hmuller January 16, 2021 at 4:28 pm #

GA, it just seems to me comparing Bill Gate’s farmland ownership to any covid related statistic is irrelevant and useless. You’re comparing apples (not to oranges) but to aardvarks.

            Example:

Once a year my paperboy mistakenly leaves the Guardian on the neighbor’s doorstep. Oh well, that’s one of the risks of urban living.

Once a year a syphilitic, escaped convict breaks into my home and rapes me. Oh well, that’s one of the risks of urban living.

          • GreenAlba January 16, 2021 at 4:58 pm #

I’d be tempted to agree with you, hm, if only because Bill Gates’ farm ownership presumably hasn’t killed lots of people. 🙂

          • hmuller January 16, 2021 at 7:27 pm #

Maybe Bill Gates knows a lot of people and has inside information on what you call “climate change”. Maybe he knows food will be going up in price and relative value, i.e. the earth’s inhabitants will be spending a larger percentage of their income on food in the future because less will be grown..

There are some who say the sun is going thru a cooling period and temperatures will be dropping. Maybe you’ve noticed a cold spell here and there lately? https://www.youtube.com/c/Adapt2030/featured

          • GreenAlba January 17, 2021 at 7:05 am #

            hm

I’ve posted information before about why the current warming isn’t driven by solar changes. I can post it a tenth time if you want me to, but there’s really no point because you won’t read it.

As for Bill Gates’ hypothetical preparations for ‘what I call climate change’, there’s really no point either in discussing something you don’t think is an issue anyway. If it isn’t happening, we don’t need to worry about the land, do we? And the point remains that 0.027% is still just 0.027%.

BTW, did you object equally strongly to T. Boone Pickens buying up water rights so that he could sell water to thirsty American cities? He saw something coming too. Although it didn’t work out quite as he planned.

            https://oklahoman.com/article/3579874/t-boone-pickens-sells-water-rights-to-texas-water-supplier-for-103-million

Why just Bill Gates all the time?

          • GreenAlba January 17, 2021 at 7:07 am #

And I’ve been noticing cold spells all my life.

It’s patterns that matter, not spells, hot or cold.

Global warming brings extremes. All sorts of extremes. More energy in the system means more extremes.

          • hmuller January 17, 2021 at 10:56 am #

Oh, it’s about more extremes, GA. So if it’s too cold, too hot, too wet, too dry, too windy, too calm; if there’s any kind of weather at all, you are proven correct. Now I understand.

          • hmuller January 17, 2021 at 11:06 am #

And of course the unproven theory that the sun has a major impact on the earth’s climate – pure right wing conspiracy theory. Disregard it. Toss it down the memory hole.

          • GreenAlba January 17, 2021 at 1:19 pm #

            hm

I don’t think I treat your posts with the level of disrespect that you show for mine.

“Oh, it’s about more extremes, GA. So if it’s too cold, too hot, too wet, too dry, too windy, too calm; if there’s any kind of weather at all, you are proven correct. Now I understand.”

No, you clearly don’t. What you’ve said means nothing, proves nothing, but is a typical straw man. Not worth arguing with.

“And of course the unproven theory that the sun has a major impact on the earth’s climate – pure right wing conspiracy theory. Disregard it. Toss it down the memory hole.”

I didn’t say that at all. That’s what I mean by disrespect.

How could the sun not have a major impact on the earth’s climate? I wouldn’t even insult straw men by including that among their number.

In the meantime, for those who are not of bad faith, here is why the sun is not considered to be the driver of the current iteration of global warming, even though it continues to warm our amazing globe every single day …

            Tenth time. Probably.

            https://www.carbonbrief.org/why-the-sun-is-not-responsible-for-recent-climate-change

            https://history.aip.org/climate/solar.htm

Now, will you be respectful enough to read it? Hmmm …

          • GreenAlba January 17, 2021 at 1:26 pm #

I’m hoping this won’t go on and on … I am aiming to keep my comments to single figures these days, although I sometimes fail . 🙂

I don’t know why a comment about Bill Gates taking over American farmland ended up here anyway. Seems to me you might have been aiming at a little provocation, hm?

It certainly wasn’t me who brought up the climate topic, since I consider it an utter waste of time.

        • rainmaker January 15, 2021 at 11:19 am #

Well if they took over Canada they didn’t take over much just an off-shoot of England, and they ain’t much either. What are the chances Bill Gates, after facing a military tribunal, might find himself in front of a firing squad? Convicted, marched out, and stood against a wall, like the Ceausescu horror and his wife? Property confiscated.

Haven’t thoroughly looked into their background, but the Arbor Day Foundation will give you a bunch of trees (for a $12 “donation”) – suitable for your area. Don’t remember the specifics, but a few Norway spruce (not a native, but considerate, not invasive), great windbreak – the deer don’t eat them like they do my favored white cedar, dogwood (hallelujah, we will be delivered from winter after all!), lilac (again, pushing the immigrants, but his one beautifully scented and perfectly situated to fill the gap in the lilac hedgerow between me and the road). So, if in an area already heavily compromised, and afflicted by harsh winter winds, that doesn’t sound like a bad deal. Of course I expect to be demoralized by subsequent revelations…

I salute the Arbor Day Foundation, probably one of the cleanest charities around. I live in the jungles of Missouri. The problem here is not needing more trees, it’s fighting them off so that they don’t swallow your house! If it weren’t for lawnmowers you’d have to hack your way to your front door with a machete.

They are a good organization after reading JHK’s Long Emergency, I decided I needed food producing plants, trees, bushes. They had great recommendations for fruit and nut tree for my cold region of Western NY. The bushes, tress came in good shape and are doing well for my modest price they charged me.

When schools shut down last spring, feeding the kids on the free meals program was as big a concern as continuing their classes online.

The classrooms may have been closed, but the kitchens were up and running. Most districts continued meal service (breakfast, lunch, and after school snack) via family pick up at the school or delivery by school bus in rural districts. The cafeteria ladies (and gents) showed up and got ‘er done, well into summer.

Not sure how much of the covid relief money went to food programs, but it was a lot. And guess who all those dollars eventually trickled up to? The usual Big Ag players.

Has anyone pondered just how much styrofoam carry out containers have gone in the trash since last March? Not to mention cups, wraps, bags, plastic flatware, etc. Depressing as hell.

I don’t know if it’s our persistence or not, but it looks as if those of us who actually still care about the president are getting through, with the advice to declassify everything.

You’d be surprised at how much resistance this has been met with, even from “conservatives”.

If it is humanly possibly to declassify a document, President Trump, being a human, certainly can do it.

He just needed to stop listening to the wrong people.

He’s still listening to the wrong people, when it comes to pardoning Edward Snowden and Julian Assange.

    • sophia January 15, 2021 at 9:58 am #

Roger Stone is now in hiding because his wife was assaulted while walking their dog.
The evil leftists are violent to their core and love to dox and threaten.
Look at all the people who stepped out of line and were going to expose stuff only to die in some freakish accident or robbery gone bad where nothing is taken.

        • MaryV January 15, 2021 at 12:44 pm #

I am thinking that people have to get rid of this programmed left/right paradigm idea.

It’s the ruling class against the rest of us. Red & Blue, conservative and liberal, left and right are IDs made up to keep us divided.

In every so-called lefty, you’ll find some so-called conservative or libertarian beliefs.

In every so-called conservative, you’ll find some so-called lefty beliefs. And so on.

It’s class war, which it has been for decades, and if we can’t get to a place where we can all get together on that – we will sink.

Here is what I ask people:

Do you oppose the national security state?
Do you oppose undeclared forever wars of choice?
Do you oppose global crony corporate/banking interests that restrict competition, create barriers to entry and buy governments?
Do you favor economic policies that promote Main Street over Wall Street?

If they provide the correct answers they can call themselves whatever they want, I’ll work with them. Disagreements in other areas can be put on hold until we end the Empire and restore the republic.

I told my husband recently that elected officials need to become afraid of their voters… not necessarily in a violent way but perhaps by protesting in front of their homes as was done to Josh Hawley. They need to know that there are consequences for their actions.

It’s not the choosing so much as it’s the waiting too long to jettison them when it becomes clear that they have no redeeming qualities.

He likes to bring out the good in unlikely candidates. Ironic for someone who used that snake story in his campaign.

Someone who cares about him said that his problem is that he gives these people chances, when they don’t play that way.

His worst decision was his allowing Dr. Fauci and the rest of that crew of “experts” into the White House.

He did not choose them, VP Pence did, but what they were pushing should never have been signed off on by any American president, and he went all in for it.

That was a mistake. A yuge one. What was worse is how he was repeatedly urged to rectify that error, by firing these people, but he still kept them in the driver’s seat.

There was simply no excuse for that, not after it became clear to him what they were.
Which it did, or he never would have chosen Dr. Scott Atlas to add to the task force.
So we had the bizarre situation of a task force issuing conflicting information.

We talk about censorship. Big Tech for some reason has a position on the Coronavirus, and want to suppress any science to the contrary.
But many Trump supporters, I have found, wanted to suppress the truth that the president allowed this horror show to gain a foothold in this country, he not only didn’t oppose it, he facilitated it, it it was very much a factor in his losing the election.

Nobody wants the truth. If more of us had acknowledged the president’s very wrong turn, we perhaps could have gotten him to reverse it in time.

Great post. But I don’t know how President Trump is going to get all of that information out, how it can poke through the walls of disinformation, lies, and obfuscation — let alone blatant cover ups. Or simply be ignored and unpublished by the media. The alt media may not be enough.

I hope it works. But I think that the Resistance has things sewn up. Too many culpable desperate people in too many halls of government at too many levels.

    My fear, anyhow…

  7. Perimetr January 15, 2021 at 9:55 am #

In a fascist corporate state where the President is prevented from using social media and the “news” will not report factual stories (e.g. Hunter Biden’s laptop) that go agains the official narrative of the deep state, how much difference will declassifying documents make?

How can anyone who believes in the Constitution or the Republic not hope that Trump would initiate mass arrests against those who rigged the presidential election — including the CIA and foreign officials who facilitated overseas vote switching. But wait, there is “no evidence of voter fraud”, just ask the papers of record, the NY Times and the Washington Post, just ask all the corporate news outlets, including the “conservative” Fox News.

We all love your writing, Mr. Kunstler, and we probably all return here more than once to reread your columns because they have given us some faint hope that *finally* justice might be done, the Constitution and the Republic saved/restored while the criminals running the government and the media could be brought to justice. But that faint hope is fading, is it not? The troops surrounding the capitol are the National Guard, under the control of the Democratic governor, not Trump.

The silencing of dissent prevents us from hearing from General Flynn or Sidney Powell. Not a single ‘high court” in the US would allow the massive evidence of vote rigging to be heard! Congress is completely bought and sold, just as is the judiciary. All dissent goes down the memory hole, just as will any declassified documents.

I pray to God that I am wrong, but I don’t see any evidence that the “hammer is about to fall” on the criminal cabal of globalists who are about to start their “cleansing” process against more than half the population who voted for and spoke out for Trump. That would probably include you, too, sir.

    • Zoltar January 15, 2021 at 10:23 am #

      Per:

I agree entirely with both your sentiments and your conclusion. Our nation has been completely captured by an alliance of governmental and corporate power, which is the definition, of course, of fascism.

Military officers became such because they are committed to following orders, and I don’t believe their orders next week will be coming from Mr. Trump.

Given the impressive efficacy of today’s government/corporate propaganda, and the immense resources of our militarized police forces I don’t believe any sort of meaningful resistance – with hopes of actually bringing about fundamental change – will be possible until collapse has robbed the powers that be of their advantage.

And then change will be local or, at most, regional, with wildly different outcomes, depending upon where you live.

      • Yohannon January 15, 2021 at 12:15 pm #

No, Fascism adores the nation, history, and traditions of the Nation. Do these people love any of that? This is Globalism, or Plutocratic Totalitarianism.

No viable political philosophy thinks the public and private spheres can be kept separate in the industrial state. That’s a given. But there are other questions from there. Like, Which dominates? And to what end?

    • JohnAZ January 15, 2021 at 10:39 am #

Wow, another percipient poster on board. Yes! The reality under the Communist rubric. As is Japan under the Capitalist rubric.

Maybe our traitorous elite have gotten something different than what they bargained for? They consider our people and culture to be despicable. The Chinese consider theirs to be wonderful. So who is going to dominate? A National Socialist can respect a National Socialist of another land and culture. But respect a traitor to his land and culture? Never. They will have to bow to the new order as second class citizens since race is part of National Socialism.

Last night John Solomon was on with Sean Hannity and he was discussing how The New York Times and The Washington Post had revealed that Intel knew the attack on the Capitol had been planned for weeks mainly by (the irony!) organizing on Fakebook.

Intel told the House and Senate Sargeants at Arms that there was confirmed intel that rioters were planning to attempt to storm the Capitol. So the Sargeants at Arms begged Pelosi and McConnell for the National Guard to be brought in for extra security but they said no because they “didn’t like the optics”!

Here is the kicker to this: President Trump was not given this Intel, according to Solomon.

If this is all true, it means a trap was set for Trump and his supporters.

They knew Trump would be asking those at his White House speech to go to the Capitol and the “rioters” broke away from the event a half an hour before it ended to make their way to the Capitol.

Interesting too that both Sargeants at Arms were either fired or resigned.

This entire episode reeks to high Heaven, followed by the Snap Impeachment prior to any investigation?!

Mr Kunstler, I’ve looked at the paintings you exhibited in your gallery and I have to say they do invite one to pause for a while; they have that impressionist touch reminiscent of the 19th Century French painters. Just wondering: why don’t you do some surrealist works along the lines of Max Ernst or Salvador Dali, which portray and satirize our world’s current plight in art the way your blogs do that in words? Think that would be great. Max Ernst’s Europe After the Rain is a great example of that sort of art.

You seem to have no idea of the purpose of Art. Hint: it’s not always about depicting sunshine and roses. Sometimes it’s soldiers and … oil slicks, garish man-made structures and faces filled with rage.

          ————-

Art “is a mirror carried along a high road. At one moment it reflects to your vision the azure skies, at another the mire of the puddles at your feet. And the man who carries this mirror in his pack will be accused by you of being immoral! His mirror shews the mire, and you blame the mirror! Rather blame that high road upon which the puddle lies, still more the inspector of roads who allows the water to gather and the puddle to form.”

“Our culture is surreal enough.” JHK

      Indeed.

Artistic surrealism died in the early 1930s, to be replaced by a grim, sober, sometimes sarcastic realism in poetry and novels. I’m not as well-versed on painting during this period, but different artistic genres have more-or-less overlapped at other times.

Satire, as SomeoneInAsia desires, is still alive, but it’s extremely difficult these days. How can you one-up the current outrageous reality? The Babylon Bee, as smart as it is, reads like the expected next-step news.

If Trump wanted to impose martial law and invoke the insurrection act and do a lot of other extreme actions to deal with these Deep State asshats, he should have done it last Summer when they were so clearly in the wrong allowing Antifa and BLM to destroy city after city.

The Market Ticker guy has made a very clear summation of exactly what went on at the Capitol. This is what we knew from the start, that it was a setup.

What disturbs me about this is how many people not on the media side were fast to blame not just President Trump, but his supporters, whom they seem to hate with a passion.

Maybe it was the sight of so many grown men, willing to drop everything at a moment’s notice, to stand up for a man and a cause they believed in.

But But….. There Were NO Left Wingers?

The 20,000 NG in DC are just there for show; more olive-drab theatrics of the type we’ve been treated to since 9/11. Absolutely nothing will happen; the freakshow of January 6 served its purpose — justifying a further expansion of the omnipresent “Securitate” and pushing the narrative of an ever-present threat of White supremacist insurgents (now that the Islamic terror threat seems a bit long in the tooth).

The Great Trumpkin has proved himself to be a feckless, self-absorbed spoiled brat, ever ready to leave his supporters twisting in the wind and holding the bag. The best historical analogue is probably that “Bonnie Prince Charlie”, scurrying away dressed as a woman while the highlanders got sliced to ribbons by the redcoats.
Still, I voted for him over Sleepy Joe.

I’ve voted in ELEVEN presidential elections, and the choices got worse every damn time.

    • earltwitty January 15, 2021 at 10:40 am #

I don”t know where HJK is getting his info. Maybe 4 chan or 8 chan or Qanon chan. I think he’s been compromised. We’ll probably soon hear him on Newsmax or Fox news. I believe the election was on the level unless you say all voter absentee ballots were illegitimate (including Trumps) because of states changing rules due to Covid 19. Read about some of the nuts they arrested already and tell me they don’t have a screw loose. As of this moment they are saying the some of the Capitol mob were intending on assassinating some members of Congress. How the riot took place with all the scanning of social media sites is still unknown. One man was on a domestic terrorist watch list. I guess they didn’t watch him too good. Also not word from the Trumpy or that buffoon Guliani about the 6 dead besides putting the flag at half staff.

      • SoftStarLight January 15, 2021 at 10:46 am #

You believe the election was on the level. So what do you think about that coordinated “stop” in the counting in the five swing states in the early morning hours on Nov 4? That has never happened before. But the reality is that you believe what you want to believe. What about the 47 people murdered during the BLM/Antifa riots in the summer? Are Kamala and Joe directly responsible for those murders since they supported groups that bailed out rioters and since the supported the riots?

      • jeff2002 January 15, 2021 at 11:16 am #

And others arrested were confirmed Antifa folks that infiltrated the group. Then there are the videos all over Twitter of police calmly opening the barriers to let in the mob, and people inside the Capitol handing WOOD BATS to people outside, which they used to break windows. The videos don’t lie. There’s much more to this story than what you see through the selective lens of mainstream news.

        • Redneck Liberal January 15, 2021 at 1:40 pm #

What you “see” in the behavior described is collaboration – these police force members are Trump supporters, it’s as simple as that.

          • Redneck Liberal January 16, 2021 at 2:22 pm #

Benr – the simplest explanation is probably the correct one. How many off-duty LEOs from adjacent States have been identified already?

But it wasn’t only LEOs collaborating. These new QAnon congresswomen (and who else?) giving reconnaissance tours the day before are collaborators too.

          • Redneck Liberal January 16, 2021 at 2:29 pm #

Benr – usually, the simplest explanation is the correct one.
How many LEOs have been identified? These people are from adjacent states and further afield. I’m not surprised…the Trump Virus has been spreading for 5 years, and since October, there’s been a spike in intensity.

But the in-house collaborators – yet to be identified but quite likely the new QAnon congressional seats – are even more at fault.

However, this doesn’t fit your narrative which goes something like …”The whole thing was a set-up! Antifa led the riot and did all the damage. The FBI kept the intelligence from the President, so he didn’t know he was sending them to their doom. We’ve been framed!”. All a bit desperate & snowflakes to me.

You are wrong! The NG are there to intimidate. They are there to send the message that the Deep State is in control of this country and nobody better think or act otherwise.

The inauguration is the key. Once we get one news cycle beyond the inauguration, their hope is everything will fade away and the Uniparty will be in control. Chances are 90% right now they are right.

Once in control, Amerika is born.

      Four years later!

If Hillary had won, this takeover would have occurred in 2017.

I do not understand how the trolls on this blog can favor the loss of their nation. Shaking my head.

Once the inauguration is in place, you are going to see a governmental takeover of just about everything. The exodus of corporations will happen when the new tax laws are passed. The collapse bandied about will occur when two things happen

      1. The government finds it has no resources to keep the gimmes in flat screen TVs. This will be ironic as the rich folks that are going to fund all their spending will be long gone, driven away by their tax stupidity.

      2. The Boomers and the following generation retirees want their money from their bonds. There is no money.

      Boom.

America vs. Amerika. It won’t matter then. Can you spell Venezuela II?

Some years ago, the National Guard was taken from the command of the various governors of states and put directly under the control of the Army and Airforce, and ultimately under the command of the Commander-in-Chief.. They are now the United States National Guard and considered reserve troops of those branches. I remember being slightly alarmed at the time, and opposed that change. I don’t forget much, if I’ve paid any attention to it. I have every confidence they are in DC with Trump’s approval. And such a lot of them too–intimidating indeed, but who is the object of their intimidation? Good, sensible souls, I don’t imagine any of Trumps base is planning on touching that. I do hear that BLM was rioting in front of congress this past Wednesday, though I didn’t hear it on MSM.

I was married to a man who was career Navy. I know something of the military and I don’t for one second believe they are willing to be bent over and cornholed by the chicoms through their cats paw, Joe Biden. I read a week ago or so, that Xi had ordered the PLA to war footing. They are to be ready at a moment’s notice. For what threat? I can’t believe they would view Obama running a shadow administration for his own purposes, either.

I imagine organizing the seizure of all main actors in this coup is taking a good deal of planning and coordination. Meanwhile, many of the worst are trapped in DC, right where they are wanted, making bootless attempts at getting things back on track. I imagine a lot of desperate negotiation are going on behind the scenes.

Me too. My first time to participate in the grand facade of “democracy” was in 1980. It was such a pleasure to my 18-yr old self back then to “fire” Jimmy Carter.

The joy of voting in elections has consistently declined with every subsequent election cycle since as it became increasingly clear that the UniParty elites continue doing whatever the hell they damn well want and the people be damned.

After 40 years of this bullshit I’ve concluded in 2020 that elections are for rubes and always have been. But at least in the past the PTB at least *pretended* that the people ruled this country. Not anymore. The fig leaf is long gone and all pretense has been cast away.

Of course Sniffer/Grifter Joe is a walking dead Zombie as anyone can clearly see. The more important question is, Who or What is pulling the strings?

The answer to the What is clearly the Deep State, but that is hardly a unified Power. It consists of 14 Spook Agencies, mad billionaires like the late Sheldon Anderson, and Malignant Overlords like the Zootbug, Crazy Bill Gates, and Gengis Bezos.

But even Malignant Overlords need underlings to pull the strings and distribute bribes. I’d suggest that Team Obama is the prime suspect for that role.

Remember that the new President in Waiting Harris was so hated during the Primary contests that she could hardly buy a vote? From which she emerged as the most likely victor in the race for Figurehead. Who paid for that transformation from an ugly caterpillar covered with jizz to a shining butterfly soon to occupy a glittering throne? Team Obama was her financial angel during those dark days when she was being dragged naked through the mud by Tulsi Gabbard. And I suspect their ongoing support/ownership is the key to where she is today. In politics such loyalty is the sign of ownership, not of virtue.

The protest that did get out of hand on January 6th is being treated like the storming of the Bastille. As far as I can tell, no one was armed and the damage (which was wrong) was minimal and Congress finished certifying the election by 4am on the 7th. When the mayor issued a 6pm curfew, the crowd peacefully dispersed. When did BLM or Antifa obey a curfew and peacefully disperse? Yet that’s never mentioned.

Even though I’m not a real estate investor I have to wonder about what happens to people or companies who own apartments and rent houses if there’s a moratorium on paying rent. How do they make THEIR mortgage payments to the bank? Is this a under- the- radar grab by bigger investors to buy property for pennies on the dollar from the original owners?

        • bluekayak January 15, 2021 at 11:17 am #

A cascading series of bailouts — renters; then landlords, then banks, then? At the end of the day the federal government (probably through GSA’s like FANNY and FREDDY) will essentially “own” everything. These “assets” in turn will be monetized and acquired by the Federal Reserve in order to support the outlandish borrowing and money printing that’s going on. Eventually, the Fed will liquidate its holdings (at a deep discount, natch), to insiders like BlackRock, who will be the neo-feudal lords of the cicada-hash eating deplorables.

I don’t think the crowd surging into the building was right and five people needlessly died and that cannot be brushed aside. An investigation into the events by Congress would be pointless as the very people who are in charge are determined to make a bad situation even worse.

Three of those were ordinary medical issues. The two criminal cases: was the security or cop shooting Ashli Babitt and a guy throwing a fire extinguisher and hitting a cop in the head, who later died. These need to be investigated carefully. But since the cop was Black and Babitt a Deplorable, he’ll walk. The other guy will probably do twenty to life.

          • stelmosfire January 15, 2021 at 4:20 pm #

The officer that shot Ashli Babitt was intentionally trying to kill her. Murder. The person that threw the extinguisher, (my opinion) was not trying to kill someone and just commited a horribly negligent action. It’s not like he had the officer on the ground bashing his head in. Another thing I don’t get is the “Hero” thing. I almost got killed a few times at work. I got paid fairly well for that. If I got killed in a flashover,(been in a couple) oh well bad luck. • Sean Coleman January 15, 2021 at 11:48 am #

According to Gustave Le Bon in The Madness of Crowds (or whatever it was called, 1895), from memory, the mob did not know what it wanted to do. I am not sure they had even set out for the Bastille, where hardly anyone was imprisoned anyway. The governor of the gaol came out and surrendered. They held him without knowing what to do next. Then a butcher’s apprentice appeared on the scene and they got him to cut his head off with his knife before parading it aimlessly through the city.

So there was a gap between story and reality even back then. I was listening earlier to French historian Reynald Secher talking about the Revolutionary government’s wicked suppression of the Vendée rising in the west of France (1793-4). The Committee of Public Safety (Robespierre) gave the order, and the Assembly approved (1 August 1793), to wipe out the region. He says at least 117k were killed and it was probably as many as 150k, 70% of them children, women and the old. He says it was the only case of genocide carried out government using legal means, or something like that. Even Pol Pot or Stalin did not do that, he says.

Committee of Public Safety: has a contemporary ring doesn’t it?

      • SW January 15, 2021 at 12:11 pm #

Robespierre was a man before his time! But he showed a real Orwellian flare naming his committee of assassins before dispatching them to stop those dangerous peasants in their tracks. Depending on guaranteed basic income from the government with plenty of strings attached and restrictions in place will likely stop all dissent here. Perhaps the Committee of Public Compliance.

Thanks for the information — I had never heard about that genocide.

          I meant flair–oops

        • Sean Coleman January 15, 2021 at 6:30 pm #

One of the interesting things about the story is that it was buried until 1985. I think a document of Babeuf’s turned up (my French is pretty basic) which supported it and Secher then dug up a lot more documents. He says that 95% of his evidence is from the Republicans themselves. It had been completely written out of history and the rising was put down to the local nobility seeking to preserve their priviliges – the usual rubbish.

i have been looking into bits of history here and there in the last few years: Spanish Civil War, the Enlightenment (especially Voltaire), the French Revolution; Solzhenitsyn on the Jews in Russia and the blackening of the Tsarist ‘regime’. The Copernican Revolution. And others I cannot think of.

E Michael Jones is very good at filling in some of the gaps. And I discovered Matthew Raphael Johnson fairly recently. I had already come to the conclusion that history has to be written again from start to finish but he has already done a good bi on that. I could attempt a list of the myths he has burst (and I have not covered them all yet) but it would take too long. But let’s just take China. Johnson has pointed out the recent Hong Kong riots, the Opium Wars (in this case, who organized and benefited financially – I won’t say here), the Rape of Nanking (all the contemporary evidence shows nothing of the sort; fake photos and accounts – all done, of course, very clusmsily). And the Tianman Square massacre that never was. Chang and Halliday in their biography of Mao add many more, including the so-called heroic Long March. I studied American – Chinese hisory as part of my history degree and read, among other books, Edgar Snow’s wartime Red Star Over China, portraying Mao’s band as heroes. He must have been either deluded or in collusion.

            @ Sean

I remember reading the Opium Wars were instigated by Great Britain for the noble purpose of flooding China with opium and lining the pockets of merchants selling it. And of course, the land grab of Hong Kong worked out well for them too.

When I was in Eastern Europe about ten years ago our guide was a young Croatian man who had relatives who now live in Germany. He told me after WW2 his German relatives were forced from their home and marched back to Germany with many dying along the way. I had never heard about that and have only seen one obscure article since then. I have no idea what the history shows, if anything.

          • Sean Coleman January 16, 2021 at 12:53 pm #

SW, Matthew Jones says that the Sassoon family organized the Opium War and increased their wealth enormously, with Britain also profiting greatly though less directly. It was an extraordinary departure getting the Christian Victorians to acquiesce in forcing China to allow its citizens to become junkies in order to boost exports from British India.

When I studied history at school one of the topics briefly touched on was the Don Pacifico affair, where Palmerston used gunboats to protect British citizens (yes, Don P., like the Sassoons, was a British citizen, at least in name). I wondered why the teacher covered it, as it was not central (as I thought) to the course. If he just dropped it in so it could be remembered in later life I do not know (the teacher was an Irish priest).

The treatment of Germans after the war is almost completely neglected (there we go again, like the Vendée they treid not to rememer).

This just reminds me of French writer Bernard Lugan who wrote about the alleged massacre of Algerians in France one night in 1961 or 62. They werer portesting peacfullly (ha had) on a Parisian bridge and hundreds were thrown off by the French police or military to drown. There are no records in the morgue there or other reliable evidence (he says). He referred to similar massacres of Germanreugees s in Czechoslovakea in 1945 who were also thrown off a bridge by partisans and their bodies were washed up in their dozens or so downriver, but no such thing happened on the Seine.

I am interested from what might be called a psychological point of view about how everyone can believe stories unsupported by evidence and often ridiculously lurid.

          • Sean Coleman January 16, 2021 at 12:59 pm #

The argument is that the Opium Wars generated vast sums of cash, which changed the whole dynamic, or greatly accelearted it, and in a bad, corrupting way. I suppose the governments from then on were beholden to their paymasters. That is the argument anyway, I do not know much about it.

It reminds me of what is said to have happened after the dissolution of the monasteries in England where great financial wealth was made available suddenly. (Raymond crotty argued that that wealth was lost in the bogs of Ireland, the cost of pacifying that unfortuate country.)

    • MaryV January 15, 2021 at 12:59 pm #

It was a false flag, the purpose was twofold (or more): 1) stop the evidence of election fraud to be read by people who were slated to present it, and intimidate them out of doing so (which happened); 2) use the so-called ‘terrorist attack’ to paint all Trump supporters are domestic terrorists, and then use that as the impetus for the Domestic Terrorism Act the Democrats are trying to pass.

A win-win for the Dems and their deep state handlers.

      • May Hem January 15, 2021 at 11:33 pm #

I agree. This recent non-event is simply another side show, designed to fool people into believing there are actually two parties participating in a democracy.

There has only ever been one party and the rest is acting.

Trump has played his agreed part and is now probably relaxing and enjoying his large pay-off.

And what might be happening under all this distraction?

They don’t want Trump to be able to run again.

      It’s what small minds do.

You can’t stop a movement – not a grass roots one.

      • Blackbird January 15, 2021 at 3:50 pm #

I don’t want Trump to run again, or any of his dynasty: Ivanka, Jared, Barron – Tiffany if imprisonment knocks out the top tier – crazy. We need somebody who can not only Talk the Talk, but Walk the Walk. You can’t do that in designer heels.

I don’t want Trump to run again – but I don’t think there is any legal basis to exclude him, if there were (and it were enforced) most of our government at all levels would be out of office and in jail. (Might be a fair trade actually…)

In his four years as representative of The Deplorables, Trump’s most lasting achievement has been to make patriotic, law-abiding Americans the target of state-sanctioned discrimination and violence for the next four years – at least.

I don’t think we can count on anyone above us to reach down to pull us into the ark.

        • MaryV January 15, 2021 at 10:28 pm #

Sorry – the Democrats did that all by themselves. Trump incited no violence. The Democrats drummed up hatred for 4 years, culminating in actual mental breakdowns of their supporters. Now those people can’t even hold conversations, much less critical ideas.

Trump didn’t start any wars, bottom line, and didn’t remove any of our rights. Obama removed what remained of them. So pfffft on your ignorance and also your ill-deserved condescension of half the country. That makes you ignorant.

          • MrMangoOnMyShoulder January 16, 2021 at 11:07 am #

MaryV – I agree with your overall point about liberals digging their own holes and creating a massive divide…

But as far as Trump not being involved in aiding the growth of some of that divide (at the very least indirectly or unintentionally), I’m not so sure.

His often baffling tweets and blunt statements were amusing (and occasionally agreeable) to many of us leaning right, but they did little to make his largely law-abiding patriotic base look good to the other half of the country.

I thoroughly expected some of the raw bluster to become instantly more polished and carefully edited after he took office (even if in a noticeably awkward way like with Dubya)…and while like I said above I found it amusing and kind of fresh that he chose not to change his outward communication style at all…many on the left would have at least felt some comfort in him acting “more presidential”.

So now his supporters, whether they agreed with only 5% of how he presented himself to the world as our President, are being lumped in with everything he ever said or did as far as public opinion goes.

That was his biggest mistake in my view. If he’d played the role a little more traditionally, while still pushing the envelope when necessary, he’d have won a second term.

        • Redneck Liberal January 16, 2021 at 2:45 pm #

’ I don’t want Trump to run again – but I don’t think there is any legal basis to exclude him…’

There is. It’s in the Fourteenth Amendment:

“ Section 3. No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may, by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.”

          • Redneck Liberal January 16, 2021 at 2:46 pm #

Some opinions hold that the Conviction of the Impeachment charge is not even necessary to invoke this clause. A simple majority in both Houses will do it.

    • Wizard of the Saddle January 15, 2021 at 2:03 pm #

      @ SW

Yes, holding a Senate impeachment trial of Trump after noon on January 20th is both unconstitutional and pointless…..unless…….

….you are Nancy (Bat-Shit-Crazy) Pelosi, who sees the following reasons to proceed:

      1) So they can keep the fractious Democrat multikulti coalition united by their common Trump hate for just a few months longer.

      2) So Nancy can continue exacting revenge against Trump for all of the ridicule he has heaped on her fragile ego over the past 5 years and for kicking her off that bus a couple of years ago when she wanted to travel on the taxpayer’s dime.

      3) So Trump can be further tar-brushed as “the only president to be impeached twice” and as a president who “led an insurrection.” This, of course, being necessary, to drive down his public support and try to preempt another run for the White House in 2020 by Trump, Grover Cleveland style.

      4) To distract the voters while Biden and the Woke Mob try to ram through as much radical legislation in the first 100 days of the new administration as possible before the inevitable GOP resistance starts getting it’s act together.

      5) To demonize the entire Trump movement as the Second Coming of Jefferson Davis the Confederate States of America, which for Libtards, ranks up their with the Fourth Reich on their list of top leftist phobias.

So, yeah, there are reasons for the stupidity of this second impeachment Dog & Pony Showtrial.

      • SW January 15, 2021 at 5:30 pm #

And of course Nancy can stay front and center of the camera.

I hope everyone stays away from the inauguration and it’s the most peaceful day in history for everyone’s sake. Nothing at all can change this trajectory and a military coup is the last thing this country needs.

      • MaryV January 15, 2021 at 10:30 pm #

I think – considering the source – being impeached twice and leading an insurrection might be a plus on his resume, in coming times.

I might be wrong, but this situation in DC doesn’t add up.

Latest tally is 26,000 national guard troops called up by Trump. Biden cancelled his plans to come to DC for a rehearsal and no one knows where Pelosi, Biden, and a few others are hiding.

Trump is releasing the FBI files on Spygate. DC is a fortress, and everyone knows Biden lost the election.

If Trump suddenly federalizes those NG troops in DC, placing them under his direct command, AND cancels his Air Force One flight to Mar-A-Lago on January 19th…..well, then, and only then, would I be impressed enough to possibly entertain the notion that the jig might be up for the Deep State and their Oligarch masters.

But I’m still not holding my breath waiting for it to happen. Sorry….

The only other logical scenario is that he is fully neutered. But IMO, it does not make sense. And I have yet to be wrong these past four years, with the exception of Pence’s actions last week. In that event, can we contribute to a mailing list for that purpose?

Realistically, the Corporate State could as easily confiscate a mass mailing, but we hate to simply give up altogether.

In the immediate future, I expect that Pres. Biden’s administration will vindictively go after Trump and his followers in every way possible. Look for show trials and people dying in custody.

Not sure you’re aware of how immigration works here, but, very different from what many Americans think, you can’t just decide to emigrate to Canada, and then things move along briskly to where you’re settled and sworn in as a citizen.

It’s a many-year process, with strict regulations. Marriage to a Canadian helps speed things up.

I’ve lost faith in both sides, but Biden acted much more “presidential” than Trump immediately following the riot at the capitol. Trump told the rioters he would be with them, then ran and hid in the White House. If Trump had all of this information, and all of this proof about the election being rigged, why hasn’t it come out? The proof is out there if you want to look and see it. The question/problem is that every attempt to get if before a judge for a hearing and thus official and widespread exposure has been tossed out for one ‘reason’ or another, mostly on ‘procedural’ grounds.

There is NO DOJ, FBI or judiciary left worth a damn so as Jim has said the only institution with even an inkling of legitimacy left is the military.

Why the 25000 troopers around Capitol ? My wild guess is that this is to convince those who need convincing that the US is in imminent danger of a white supremacist coup. The number is to create the illusion of a planned massive assault by Proud Boys or some such like cackle of idiots who communicate their wicked plans unencrypted over their cell phones. Apart from that, Ariel Pink was Tucker Carlson’s guest last night for his being dropped by a recording company after attending the DC White House rally (he wasn’t at the Capitol). He said that the Dems are “sore winners”. Well, let’s just say that I have never seen “winners” being this scared, and so doubtful of their legitimacy. To me it simply confirms an old observation of shrinks; the desire for omnipotence always brings about the most acute feelings of insecurity.

There might well be such a solid political motivation (“Trump supporters are very angry, dangerous, and capable of anything”) – but I expect it is more an over-reaction to the events of 6 January – when law enforcement / domestic military were caught out badly, embarrassed, and have been heavily criticised,

  32. Oregonian January 15, 2021 at 1:18 pm #

I don’t know, Jim, I think it is all too little, too late. I think President Trump made the political mistake of his career to organize that crowd on January 6th, and the Deep State must have cackled with glee at how easy it was to open the doors to the Capitol and lead in the justifiably angry and sadly gullible. The political fallout from that event is still reverberating, not because it was the threat it was claimed to be, but because when your opponents control the media even a relative non-event (compared to previous violence this year) can be blown up into Pearl Harbor 2021, etc. Look at the political implications just so far: Republicans fall into line certifying Biden election, calls for persecution of Republicans who questioned the election, the de-platforming of tens of thousands on social media, the shutdown of an entire social media platform (Parler), a second impeachment which somehow promises to extend beyond his actual time in office (is that even constitutional!?). I’m probably missing a few major ones as well. As if anyone is going to care about some illegal spying four years ago, or the Biden family corruption six years ago. Nope, that stuff is only going to live in the memories of a minority of Americans, and when it gets brought up (infrequently) at a social gathering the response will be “Well, Trump tried a coup at the Capitol, we always knew he was Hitler! Shaddup!”

    • Yohannon January 15, 2021 at 1:59 pm #

I concur, but we also have to stop allowing them to do this in the aftermath. They are trying to make the ‘breach’ = Pearl Harbor, but their narrative keeps falling apart. If it was working, it would still be trending on Twitter all day every day. It really isn’t. They have other things to dangle in front of our faces to distract us.

The people who showed up on popular Facebook posts about it who tried to further the Democrat narrative on that incident get buried and laughed at. All they have are assigned talking points that fall apart with the least bit of scrutiny.

Same with the attempted Whitmer kidnapping false flag. When they aren’t authentic, they are easily dismantled. Now there are millions of people doing the dismantling.

      @Oregonian

You are right on all counts.

If there is any saving grace in this gargantuan mess it is the simple fact that in the age of the 24 hour news cycle, the attention span of the American people is severely limited. They reach a saturation point on any “outrage of the day” in no time flat and soon tune-out and return to watching football, to playing disc golf, or watching porn on the Internet. Anything to relieve the insufferable boredom of the 24/7 MSM outrage over everything Trump does.

So, give it 6 months. When the ratings drop, the cable channels will find a new enthusiasm. Especially if Trump appears to be all washed up and goes silent.

In the meantime, patriots should be keeping their powder dry and should bail from social media and start making preparations to survive the tyranny we are sliding into.

If someone wrote a script with a wish list of all the things you listed, it could not have gone more according to plan. I don’t know that there was an kind of plan but silencing anyone who raised legitimate questions was certainly accomplished. Ron Paul who is a threat to no one, was deplatformed from FB b/c he dared to disagree. As his son Rand tweeted — “where does this end?”

    • Tekapo January 16, 2021 at 1:33 am #

“… a second impeachment which somehow promises to extend beyond his actual time in office (is that even constitutional!?).”

By definition, an impeachment trial verdict (in the Senate) to remove someone from office cannot occur after someone’s term ends, or if they resign beforehand.

However a trial verdict to ban an impeached person from ever holding federal office again is almost certainly constitutional – most legal experts say that.

It has to be possible – otherwise someone could either run out the clock or simply resign just before the verdict, to escape the ban.

I assume the Democrats will seek a decision in the Senate to achieve a lifetime ban – it will be interesting to see whether there are 17 Republican senators who really want the party to be rid of Trump – and achieve clear air for 2022 and especially 2024.

      • SW January 16, 2021 at 12:16 pm #

Thank you for that clarification as it’s been very confusing, at least to me, why the House Democrats were so determined to impeach. Trump would be about 78 in 2024. Surely the Republicans could come up with someone better by then.

I would support a Constitutional Amendment that states no one over 65 or who would assume office after turning 65 is allowed to run for any political office and must surrender their seat the next election cycle after their 65th birthday.

Why aren’t Schumer, Pelosi, Sanders, Biden and all the rest mentoring young Senators and Congressmen instead of clinging to power at all costs? But it will never happen as these very people and those like them would never allow it.

        • Tekapo January 17, 2021 at 7:03 am #

“Why aren’t Schumer, Pelosi, Sanders, Biden and all the rest mentoring young Senators and Congressmen instead of clinging to power at all costs? ”

It’s a good question … maybe they fear powerlessness more than anything. They don’t seem to want to have 5-10 years of relaxed retirement – playing golf, travel, quality time with grandkids, etc.

But it’s almost universal … whether its a liberal democracy or a dictatorship, hardly anyone voluntarily resigns; they are kicked out by colleagues or voters, they die in office, or they are deposed and killed. Seems to come with the territory.

BTW, in the Senate it only requires a simple majority to issue a lifetime ban to an impeached official not two-thirds … my mistake And I agree that Trump would be much better off not trying again.

A little while ago, I was curious about who would be the Senate Majority Leader in the case of a 50/50 split, and when that might take place since the two senators from Georgia maybe haven’t taken office yet. So I pulled up a Wikipedia page that showed a table listing Senate officers. It showed McConnell as the Senate MINORITY Leader, and Schumer as the Senate MAJORITY Leader. Well, as far as I know, that change hasn’t taken place yet.

“the name for it is a crisis of legitimacy… a crisis of legitimacy means that citizens have lost faith in their institutions, that is, in the armature of agreements and procedures for running this society.”

Fool us once, shame on you. Fool us twice – and three and four and five and six…. times, shame on US. In fact, shame on all this. Faith is like trust. When it’s gone, it’s gone. The bedrock of social living is faith (in the tribe as a whole and process as a whole), and trust (that each part of the whole is rightfully doing and contributing their part of the whole). When one – or ALL – of the parts of the machine are not functioning correctly, things deteriorate quickly. And no one comes along to put all the parts back together and restore their true functionality.

“Is it any wonder that a huge chunk of the population doesn’t believe the election was on-the-level?”

One might also ask… can anyone name ANYTHING today that’s ‘on the level’. The Level is always the first thing to go and the last thing to be restored… if it even can be.

“Thousands of troops are billeted in and around Washington DC now. Why is that?”

When everything else is gone, all that remains is the Iron Fist, the Heavy Hand. When any government begins to resort to brute force to protect itself from its own people, what does that say about the health of the nation? And the lack of useful alternatives? This movie has already been run many times in other places. And popcorn won’t make it look or taste any better this time.

this alone is enough to invalidate the election:

“Key Battleground States Don’t Require Signature-Matching on Mail-in Ballots
    October 16, 2020 Admin

    by Daniel Payne

Election rules in multiple key battleground states permit voters to submit mail-in and absentee ballots without having their signatures checked to ensure the vote is valid.

Five states that have historically been competitive in presidential races — North Carolina, Iowa, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire — do not require signature-matching for mailed voting forms.

In some cases, state officials have explicitly codified that rule. In August, Karen Bell, the executive director of the North Carolina State Board of Elections, wrote in a memo to all local county boards that a voter’s siagnture “shall not be compared with the voter’s signature on file because this is not required by North Carolina law.”

    • rube-i-con January 15, 2021 at 2:43 pm #

      that works as a joke.

      Here~s another one:

“Eight of nine mismatched signatures accepted in Nevada mail-in ballot experiment:

An experiment testing the veracity of Nevada mail-in ballot signature verification reportedly resulted in an 89% failure rate, raising concerns about the integrity of the state’s rapidly implemented universal mail-in ballot system.

Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist Victor Joecks said in a Thursday article that he had nine people use his handwriting rather than their own for mail-in ballot signatures.

“I wrote their names in cursive using my normal handwriting. They then copied my version of their name onto their ballot envelope. This two-step process was necessary to ensure no laws were broken,” Joecks said.

The result contradicted assurances from Nevada officials that signature verification, the process of matching a voter’s signature on file to the signature on the ballot, would prevent fraudulent ballots from being counted.

“Eight of the nine ballots went through. In other words, signature verification had an 89% failure rate in catching mismatched signatures,” Joecks said.

Joecks did not reveal photos of the signatures used on the ballots or the names of those who participated.

Nevada lawmakers in August changed the law to send a mail-in ballot to every voter on the state’s rolls.

That resulted in dead voters and voters who had moved receiving mail-in ballots. Photos posted on social media show stacks of mail-in ballots sitting out in the open. Many pro-Trump Nevada protesters told the Washington Examiner last week that they received other people’s mail-in ballots.”

A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump voted by mail in Florida. They voted in person in Florida in the 2020 general election and voted by mail in the state’s primary election. Also, an earlier version misstated late ballots rules in California. Ballots can arrive up to 17 days after the election and still be counted, according to extensions of state law because of the pandemic.

        – – –

“More than 150,000 ballots were caught in U.S. Postal Service processing facilities and not delivered by Election Day, agency data shows, including more than 12,000 in five of the states that have yet to be called for either President Donald Trump or his Democratic challenger Joe Biden.

Despite assurances from Postal Service leaders that agency officials were conducting daily sweeps for misplaced ballots, the mail service acknowledged in a court filing Thursday that thousands of ballots had not been processed in time, and that more ballots were processed Wednesday than on Election Day”

      • UrbanHick January 15, 2021 at 3:14 pm #

        Glad you liked the joke.

Trump lost over 50 (is it over 60 now?) court cases on the election issue, and gave him only one tiny win. And the supreme court rejected him again:

        https://apnews.com/article/joe-biden-donald-trump-politics-elections-us-supreme-court-ce563646432dbee937dc5e8f1d677287

Generally I trust judges because they don’t have to be raising money and securing influence for the next election. Generally I trust the results the judicial system produces because it’s designed to seek out truth. It’s highly imperfect, but it does evaluate based on evidence, precedent and rule of law.

On top of that, and I hate that it’s the case, but I find myself trusting the judges who threw out all those Trump cases because so many of them are Trump appointees. Trump managed to squeeze three onto the Supreme Court, and fully expected them to come to his rescue in his time of need. They didn’t. And I think that’s because, however much I disagree with their politics, they answer to a higher power: Truth, supported by evidence.

I trust them more than I do some person on the internet, copy-pasting something some other person on the internet said.

If there’s any validity to this stuff it can survive examination by courts of law. Rudy had plenty of chances. 50 (or is it 60?) at least.

James K, you’ve been eager to believe for many weeks/months that Trump has some great bazooka up his sleeve which will blow the Resistance away. But I fear that they’ve won. Do you know what it means when the law-courts are shown surveillance footage of election officers pulling out a suitcase full of fake ballots from under a table in the wee hours of the night, then counting them when no one is around, and yet the courts throw out the case? It means the judges themselves are capable of denying the evidence of their own eyes. It means the rule of law is suspended if it does not favor the liberals. It means the judiciary system (including the Supreme Court) has become an extended arm of the Democratic Party. It means they have successfully subverted all the vital organs of society and are now using them for the achievement of their ends. What can Greek-tragedy-hero figure of Trump do in the face of all this?

Perhaps Trump’s supporters will come to his rescue and prepare for civil war? Perhaps they’ll show the Dems that they have teeth and WILL fight back? I’m not seeing any evidence of it. Like you said in a blog post a while back, the general population has been turned into into cowering hostages willing to lie about their convictions to avoid “cancellation.” Moreover, the upper monied classes (the likes of Zuckerberg, who can spare a half billion dollars to subvert the elections), who live in the cities and nerve centers of civilization, control most of the nation’s resources. A war between Trump’s supporters and the liberals is essentially a war of countryside vs city, poor vs rich, average vs intelligent. Just imagine if civil war does break out, if, for example, a militia group forms somewhere in rural Georgia. It’s a small matter for the Democrats to cut the electricity, fuel and supplies to these areas and starve them. This is the great bane of a centralized system: one is robbed of the self-sufficiency which is indispensable to waging a war.

I had refused to believe it several months back but I fear this is true: men have been undone by decades of peace, prosperity and comfort and can no longer fight, or perhaps they’re too daunted by this new and fearsome enemy, which has emerged not from some foreign land, but from next-door, from school, from one’s own workplace, even from one’s own church. It’s like a tide which has been rising all around us for the longest time and now threatens to drown us. It has caught us completely off guard. How do you defeat an enemy which is mingled in with the population all across the land?

What people do not understand is that all this madness is part of an ongoing decades-long process of subversion. It started with the KGB sowing the seeds of disunity in American society way back around the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and so on. But at some point, Americans themselves took over the process of demoralization (such as pumping the kids full of Marxist/Leninist ideas in the universities) and guided the snowball into the avalanche which it has now become, and which threatens to bury the entire society.

Whatever may happen to Trump’s legacy as president his primal, archetypal mission was accomplished; to bring out in the open how deeply Secular Totalitarianism (the leftist-orientated Deep State) has infiltrated the cultural and social institutions of the West. He accomplished this simply by being someone the Left felt irresistibly compelled to destroy by fair means or foul. Unfortunately for them, in their efforts to destroy him they have inadvertently destroyed their own reputations, while severely damaging the venerable institutions of which they are the current caretakers. From this point forward, although those on the Left may think they are winning, in truth they are losing ground day by day.

      • shox January 15, 2021 at 6:22 pm #

        @sunburstsoldier

Thanks for the thoughtful comment. I’ve been saying much the same thing myself in my conversations with people. Whatever one may think about Trump and his accomplishments, there is NO DOUBT whatsoever that he has ripped the curtains down and revealed the moral degeneracy and rot at EVERY level of the political establishment and even in supposedly apolitical institutions such as the CDC and the NIH. Revealed it in its full unexpurgated glory for the non-brainwashed half of the population to see.

I hope patriotic Americans are genuinely stirred to an intense anger over the events of the last few months – with the race riots (“peaceful protests”), the slandering of America and its values, the despicable antics of BLM and Antifa, the cynical, brazen and shameless subversion of the presidential elections, the treason of the media and big-tech as they takes an aggressively anti-American position with all their censorship and lopsided narratives, the despicable cowardice of the GOP to stand up to all this and stamp it out.

It now falls upon the shoulders of the common man to take matters in his own hands. The freedom-loving part of the American people are truly on their own. The rule of law has come to an end. The law-courts can no longer be trusted to dispense justice in good faith. Lady Justice is no longer blindfolded. No one should hold himself to a standard of law-abidingness which those in power shamelessly flout. It’s time to prepare for civil war, or at the very least civil disobedience. There HAS to be a balance of power, otherwise the abuses we have witnessed over the last few months will intensify unabated.

    • J. Dean January 16, 2021 at 12:35 pm #

In your comment and all of this I am reminded of free will. It is not just what others “have done to us”, but what we, as a country, have done to ourselves. There is the evil that is without; but also, even more so, the evil that is within.

Complacency is a small sin but in small increments multiplied over time it eats away the foundation of the house like termites.

I think Jim’s writing as a whole tends more towards the self-inflicted culture (“we get what we deserve”) as the root problem vs. the conspiracies…but then there are real conspiracies…

One thing I am nearly certain of: when you have a diluted, dissipated culture such as ours you don’t need any conspiracies to ensure its demise.

            Ven,

Joe Biden is on film molesting children in a Senate photo session.

Rubbing and grabbing at a child’s breast, stroking and smelling hair, puling children into his crotch, etc.

My wife is a social worker and said he would have been grabbed by the cops here in Germany had it occured here.

Hunter’s tapes are another level, but given what Joe does in public, I have little doubt about what he does in private. And his son was likely abused himself. That is how it works.

            Pedo Joe.

The embarrassing part is all the “smart” people in this country that won’t even acknowledge that cognitive dissonance when it’s pointed out…it pertains to the wrong people, so it’s not a problem.

      • thirdcoastlegend January 16, 2021 at 10:48 am #

I think a lot of the dissonance stems from the fact that a lot of people have made and could make a ton of money selling the US to China.

I mean, look what they did to Trump when he started messing with their cash flow.

Agreed. I’m specifically referring to some of our many friends and family that are technically smart…the intellegentsia…people with doctorates and respected jobs…and nearly one and all toe the liberal line with no questioning allowed. “NYT says this, so…” That is a dissonance in itself, to me. Genius doesn’t mean discerning.

While I disagree with the efficacy of rude public harassment, that is literally what the likes of Maxine Waters has been promoting for years when her supporters see a Republican or cabinet member in public.

And, I might add, it’s what essentially the entire democrat party (still no caps…again, fuck em) and the big tech companies are actively doing, trying to do, and promoting for every person who ever may have supported Trump since they got the green light to officially be smug pricks with de facto impunity for their hatred and tantrums.

    Extrapolation!

Extrapolate where the country will be in four years from today’s trends.

Covid. Vaccines will partially work, yearly injections or more. Covid plus flu still being a major impact every winter?

National Debt. Up another 10 trillion to 36 trillion. Retirees cashing bonds could really blow this up.

Medicare. Trust fund 0. Working off of payroll taxes with either debt skyrocketing or reduced benefits in the form of deductibles.

SS. Still paying, trust fund declining, too politically violent to do anything about it.

Obamacare. Will expand as the insurance market continues to become more expensive, This will start running the deficit up faster as premiums increase and subsidies get larger.

Medicare for all. If this ever passes, medical care will suffer greatly. The capital pool for care will shrink per capita giving less care. Elective folks will wait in line for years.

Racial relations. The government is going to try to shove cancel culture down the throats of 70% of the US population. This will explode during the four years. This summer is just the beginning.

Antifa. This anti-government organization funded by the globalist Marxists will continue to grow under Dem control. If Biden ever wises up to what is happening, this could explode again.

Taxes. Ho Ho! Stand by. If you want to get a job in the next four years, better make it quick. Corporations are going to flee this country fast. Small business will have to pick up the tax burden. Yeah, right!

Unemployment Already starting to skyrocket due to Covid. Long term unemployment will become a problem again, like with Obama. Taxes will keep new job creation down.

Climate change. No change as the reality of GND attempts hit home. See also, Michael Moore’s reality show, “Planet of the Humans”. Hopefully, this will finally destroy AOCs credibility.

Politics. 2022 sees No changes as GOP is going to collapse. Maybe a new party for conservatives to find a home?

Education. Continued Stupidification of American youth as a culture control by the Deep State. Forgiveness of student loans will push the debt up another trillion. “Free” college will put half of the universities out of business as increased debt due to capital outlays will drive them into bankruptcy. Non availability of loans, banks will no longer make them will crater the universities also.

Foreign. China becomes number one king of the mountain but 2024. Europe continues downward as the Muslim gimmes destroy Europe’s cultures and economies. China hooks up with Africa, Europe and the Middle East and wins the geopolitical chess game. Latin immigration skyrockets destroying the common culture of the US. Browning increases rapidly. Mexican cartels increase influence as homelessness and despair increases the demand for drugs.

All extrapolations based on the unavailability of capital domestically to do much of anything. The globalists are going to suck this baby dry under Biden control.

This is just a small part of The Long Emergency, just the next four years. SSL, now understand why I am so pessimistic.

Decarbonize the US? Run the whole show then on windmills and solar panels, including those massive apartment blocks in the Bronx where the sun never shines and the wind never blows? The ass sucking MSM never ask Bedpan about the details, or whether or not his plan to ‘decarbonize the US’, but still provide enough juice to keep the country going, abrogates basic laws of thermodynamics. China, the debt, and SS have been concerns neither party could get a grip on.

Medicare for all. I’d rather have the government overseeing health care than grotesquely greedy insurance companies.

Increase taxes on the obscenely rich billionaires and corporations. Disincentives can be put in place to keep companies from fleeing.
If they insist on fleeing, distribute their assets and give them to patriotic Americans who won’t.

Climate change must be addressed, not necessarily with the extremities of the GND. For example, serious glacial melt is taking place at the ‘third pole’, the glaciers of the Himalayas and the Tibetan plateau. This will affect the world’s mightiest river systems like the Ganges, the Mekong, the Brahmaputra, the Indus, and the Yangtze, and about three billion people whose lives depend on these rivers.

    The GOP deserves to collapse.

Medical costs have not decreased to any extent under Trump and may have increased.

Obama unemployment went from about 10% to a bit under five when he left. And,

‘According to Bureau of Labor Statistics data, 6.6 million non-farm jobs were created during Trump’s three years ending 2019, while 8.1 million jobs were created during Obama’s preceding three years.’

Bringing jobs back? Trump fell flatter than piss on a plate:

“Nothing augurs for social harmony like demonizing and ignoring the other side’s legitimate grievances and repressing them.”

I actually think it’s quite a complex (and tough) call for President Biden and Democrats in general.

Assuming that unity, healing, and turning down the temperature are a good thing that most people desire (a big assumption?) – does Biden et al move on on, implement an aggressive reform agenda while they hold all the levers, or do they use up limited political capital going after Trump, his family, and his enablers in the Republican Party?

It’s not a rhetorical question … I certainly don’t have an answer. But I think it depends a lot on Trump himself.

Even though he never concedes he lost a fair election, and refuses to attend the inauguration or have a cup of tea with Joe Biden on the morning of 20 January, if he fades away quietly and goes play golf – he might avoid the more extravagant forms of investigation and prosecution.

I think it’s up to him. His more committed supporters are another matter.

“I actually think it’s quite a complex (and tough) call for President Biden and Democrats in general.”

I don’t. After the Civil War the North pardoned the South, including the top generals, after 620,000 people were maimed and blown to smithereens over several grueling years.

If they could do that in the name of “unity and healing” after all that, it should be the tiniest of concessions for Joey NoPulse & Co. to let these most miniscule political bygones be just that. Instead, so far they are choosing to attack, erase and cancel people and their existence in our history. For voting for a guy they thought was a dickhead.

        • Yohannon January 16, 2021 at 12:21 pm #

No, the South had to fight a guerilla civil war to stop the Black gangs – which they won btw, with some help from decent Northern politicians.

  68. Pucker January 15, 2021 at 11:51 pm #

The Elite seem to have Compartmentalized Personalities?

For example, George Washington was a fervent believer in Republican ideals, but he lived an ostentatious Baronial lifestyle.

“ Benioff is not only a member of the WEF’s board of trustees, but he is also the inaugural chair of the forum’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, a “revolution” that its architect and WEF founder Klaus Schwab defines as a merging of humans’ physical, digital, and biological identities. Benioff is also the owner and cochair of Time magazine, which recently ran an entire issue focused on promoting the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the WEF-backed Great Reset.
Benioff also serves on the Council for Inclusive Capitalism, a collaboration between the Vatican and oligarchs to create a “more inclusive, sustainable and trusted economic system” for the twenty-first century. Alongside Benioff on the council are well-known figures such as Lynn Forester de Rothschild (close associate of Jeffrey Epstein and the Clintons), Mark Carney (UN special envoy for Climate Action and former Governor of the Bank of England), and William Lauder (executive chairman of Estée Lauder, nephew of Mega Group member Ronald Lauder) as well as the top executives of MasterCard, Visa, Dupont, Merck, Johnson & Johnson, BP, and Bank of America. Also present are the heads of the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations.

Benioff and others mentioned in this article are perfect examples of the cross-pollination between groups of oligarchs and their associated foundations and organizations and how these networks are working together to pursue a common agenda. While the push for combining digital identity with vaccination records and economic activity appears, superficially, to be the effort of various organizations and groups, the same individuals and entities appear time and again, pointing to a coordinated push to not only implement such a system but manufacture consent for such a system among the global population.

The effort to manufacture consent for an all-encompassing digital identification system is notable given that its main selling point thus far has been coercion. We have been told that without such a system we will never be able to return to work or school, never be able to travel, or never be allowed to participate normally in the economy. While this system is being introduced in this way, it is essential to point out that coercion is a built-in part of this infrastructure and, if implemented, will be used to modify human behavior to great effect, reaching far beyond just the issue of COVID-19 vaccines.”

Tekapo, there will be very, very few Republican congress members who have a ‘largely black-brown electorate’. Decades of GOP-controlled state legislatures gave been gerrymandering the districts to remove that risk.

Corrupt is corrupt it matters not if it is run by people with black, brown or white skin it just so happens that there is no country on earth run by black people one could call successful.

All of Africa is corrupt not sure if it’s a race issue or a culture issue.

What is troubling is that now these United States are no better or should I say no longer bothers to hide the corruption rampant in our own government.

The Republican showed his true colors in that he is now worried about his gravy train and re-election nothing more.

    You said,

“What if, under the extraordinary conditions of the moment, those levers are transferred to one arm of the government that has not disgraced itself: the military?”

Say what? In all the years we’ve kept in touch, I’ve never read a comment by you that condemns US military terrorism. Destroying civilians societies all around the globe is terrorism, Jim, and it is crimes against humanity. The military is not a defender of anything, because we are not under attack by anyone. The military serves the banking families’ greed and murders and destructions. As a Vietnam veteran, I take no pride in being just one of the ignorant soldiers who took part in “serving my nation”. I was a dumb schmuck, a pawn, in the US campaign of terrorism against the Vietnamese people. I am so glad that I did not manage to kill any of them.

The US military today still drops bombs on civilians, trains homeless Takfiri crazies how to use modern weapons to murder civilians in order to rifle their belongings for valuables, and is the world’s Terrorist.

Estimates of how many civilians the US has murdered are in the tens of millions since WWII.

During that war, firebombing and nuking cities in Germany and Japan are terrorist crimes against humanity. Reports I’ve read put the number of cities that had their citizens burned up by firebombs and radioactive weapons in the hundreds.

The US military is doing the devil’s work and is a disgrace. This is probably why so many ex-soldiers eat their gun. How can anyone live with their brutal acts of cold-blooded murder against unarmed civilian families? The memories must be too much.
How does a soldier reconcile his realization that instead of being a patriot doing his duty, he was actually a terrorist serving the rich? I wonder especially about those who dropped all the bombs – the pilots. How do they sleep at night?

    Patrick

    • benr January 16, 2021 at 9:28 am #

Versus how many people the Vietnamese murder?
How about Communist they have murdered hundreds of millions and shortened the lives of several hundred million more by years from gross mismanagement and corruption of everything.

What about Muslim raiders for the last 1,500 years they murdered hundreds of millions of people who practiced other faiths.

How about Christians pretty sure they murdered their fair share over the last 2,000 years.
What about Japan, China, Russia, Turkey, Iran, aka Persia, Great Britain, France, Spain, Mezo Americans…

I’m a veteran and up till now I was pretty proud of my service.

Now with a fraud wracked election and the American people cheated out of a court system even willing to look at the issue what is the point?

Joe Biden can go fuck himself and no thanks to Kamala she can just put a bag over her ugly mug yeck.

Typical GI response. Others do it, so it’s okay for us to do it. Uh, no, it’s not okay to murder and be a terrorist because others do it. What’s wrong with you?

Author, you will make a great service to yourself and anyone reading here avoiding topics you have no clue about.
Yes, not only USSR under Brezhnev was better than you but better than Russia under Putin.
You are writing about things you do not know and have not experienced.
Brezhnev time even now is considered Russia golden times, absolute peak of Russia history. And you should know that we actually were free then.
You also seem to be brainwashed since your youth regarding socialism and communism.
It is understandable considering you are American.

You should read it – it’s a beautiful book, from what I recall all those decades ago.

I’m not a Putin fan either. Still too many dissidents bumped off, even if the numbers are much lower. And it’s a bit sick being as rich as he is, with his ahem … ‘acquired’ billions, then to raise the age of retirement to where the average male Russian won’t live to see it. (For the Putin fans, one has to ask why so many Russian men still drink themselves to death in their nationalist paradise.)

    TS

Your job creation data seemed so wrong I looked it up.

The data is from the Federal Reserve.

I took the comparison at the 36 month after inauguration time point due to the hit that Covid took.

Bottom to top. (Cumulative % increase)

    W. -2%
    Obama 0%
    Bush 1. 1%
    Reagan 3%
    Trump 5%
    Clinton. 8%
    Carter. 12%

Obama, Bush1, W and Reagan had recessions they were working out of.

    Carter surprised me.

All of the 7 except Trump continued upward during their terms at about the same slope. Covid dropped Trump to -10% which has recovered to
    To -4%.

If Trump had not had Covid dropped on his economy, from whatever source, he would have beaten Obama hands down. At 36 months only Carter and Clinton had him beat.

You are listening to biased reporting.

“They’ll be rolling Beijing Biden out in a fully electric hospital bed surrounded by 4 Chinese soldiers …”

Two solid memes from the Trumpian end of the pond, and they don’t seem to go away: (1) that Joe Biden is unwell, unfit, and soon to be parked in the Alzheimer’s Hilton, and (2) that he is the classic Manchurian Candidate, and we might as well give the keys to DC to President Xi Jinping right now.

Well, it seems to me that Sleepy Joe is about 500% fitter and healthier than junk-food-obese Donald Trump is (he who has a lot of trouble with a glass of water and gentle ramps), and I don’t think Uncle Joe is beholden to Beijing anywhere near to the extent that Trump is in the hole with Russia.

Don Junior or Eric came right out and said it, in about 2018 – they don’t need US banks, they have a direct pipeline to Russia.

I still want to know why the most popular president ever in US history who absolutely received the most votes in US history ever (and if you question it you will be silenced, deplatformed, starved, and exterminated) must be surrounded by over 30,000 troops and razor wire for his virtual inaugaration? And why are we not seeing organic, spontaneous, and exhuberant (not paid for) street celebrations for this most popular leader that has ever existed like there were all the time for the wicked, fascist dictator DJT? And why did the most popular and most voted for political figure ever in human history have far less followers on twitter than the evil fascist dictator DJT? But hey! Out of all this crazy at least we can verify that Mexico is the apparent bastion of free speech!

    • Tekapo January 16, 2021 at 2:38 pm #

“I still want to know why the most popular president ever in US history … ”

I have also thought a fair bit about all this.

I know you’re being sarcastic, but I still consider it a mischaracterisation: Joe Biden isn’t the most popular president, Donald Trump is the most unpopular and people wanted him to be a one-termer.

Outside of the 40-45% of lifelong Democratic voters who would vote for a tree-stump if it were painted blue, a large number of others (Independents, Republicans) wanted to be rid of Donald Trump, and voted that way. I think it’s pretty clear that there were a lot of anti-Trump votes rather than enthusiastic pro-Biden ones.

The number of troops seems to keep growing rather rapidly, from 12,000 to 30,000 and counting. But whatever, it’s an extremely sad state of affairs for America – where a big slice of the national capital has to be cordoned off as if a war zone.

I don’t know how realistic and dangerous the threat from the crazier end of the pro-Trump crowd is, but they are not being indulged this time; not after 6 January … the state is in control this time.

Donald Trump made four fatal mistakes, in my view:

      1. He downplayed the pandemic all year
      2. He claimed a lost election was a rigged one
      3. He discouraged supporters from using mail-in voting
      4. He incited the storming of the US Capitol

You can argue whether all these things are “true”, but their truth doesn’t matter much – it is the perception in the popular mind and the mass media that matter most.

Anyway, in his dotage, sitting around one of his country clubs in a big leather chair, he can bore the pants off his guests about how he coulda been a contender …

On the issue of where are the adoring Biden crowds, I think that can be explained too. Firstly the Dems take the pandemic seriously – and much more like sensible governments and public figures do in most other countries, and secondly, I think the Dems are on the right track – America doesn’t have an appetite for another president with crazy adoring crowds and mass rallies.

Perhaps the people want a period of dull, methodical, and a steady ship … after the experience of the Trump years.

  82. Redneck Liberal January 16, 2021 at 12:10 pm #

Gee, the general mood around here is shifting quite quickly now, to one of despair.

You Trumpians are moving through the grief cycle. Just know there’s an eventual end to it -once you reach “acceptance” and discover (to your surprise) that the apocalyptic catastrophe of DJT being out of office (and quickly losing space in your heads) is not the end of the world, you’ll feel better.

    • MrMangoOnMyShoulder January 16, 2021 at 12:28 pm #

I would say a relatively small percentage of people here feel this despair you speak of. Or that it’s the end of the world. More like losing a massive poker pot when it was quite obvious the other guy was shifting his sleeves over the table a bit too much while clearing his throat and making nonsensical small talk to distract.

But politically and culturally, it is very likely the beginning of something worse.

Folks respecting their constitutional rights (and wanting to keep them without judgment) is becoming seen as a negative trait. Low-class and ignorant (redneck?), even.

You can feel free to gloat and talk down to others about something over which you had zero control…but societally, you know that trend ain’t good.

      Grief cycle, my butt.

Understanding of what is coming is what is happening. Knowing your country’s tradition of freedom above government has just died is what has occurred. Disbelief that enough really stupid people were fooled into voting for the largest crime family in US history, the DNC, is causing a lot of shaking heads.

When this settles down after a few phony news cycles, there will be a re-organization of the conservative movement. I actually hope Trump stays out of it, but it will require a person with enough cojones to fight down this crime family that is in charge right now. New party, I hope, as the GOP is as much of a crime family now as the Dems. Repudiation and elimination of the RINO class. Plans to use alternative communications to tear down the blue wall that exists everywhere, EVERYWHERE.

It has happened before in 1866. The result then was Lincoln. And CW1.

The failure is a dictatorship, following the coercion techniques of Adolf Hitler, sorry Marlin, the Nazis and the brown and black shirts. Can’t happen, just look at DC right now, 40000 brown shirts shutting the place down to stop the few hundred protestors that might take action.

Hope you gimme suckers are happy.

Not to be too much of a stickler…but I presume you meant 1861, not 1866. Though 1866 was a big pile of shit too, just in a much different way…

Our Local Oracle of All “Facts” Dark and Unknowable has already implied that Trump himself ordered their deployment and will use them to stop the Inauguration by declaring the Insurrection Act (some are saying he’s already invoked it…). It’s The Storm coming! The Kraken Released!

And -“40000” now? That number keeps growing, still…

Constitution Party. The main goal is to stop the Liberal erosion of our rights under the US Constitution, not the platform of the DNC.

      • SoftStarLight January 16, 2021 at 2:00 pm #

It’s a good idea but how do you suspect the party to win elections? It will have to be willing to print ballots, let dead people vote, rescan ballots over and over, hack into voting machines, etc. That’s only something Democrats can do and get away with. The new party will have to be willing to do whatever to win and enforce it. But since the Democrats have all the levers of power and enforce whatever rules benefit them at this point they clearly as we can see will not allow political dissent to exist. So the new party’s first action must be secession. You wll never be able to live with constitutional rights as long as Democrats have power. The entire planet knows that now. Which is an awesome thing if you think about it.

        • MrMangoOnMyShoulder January 16, 2021 at 2:06 pm #

Focus ONLY on Red States and start in the rural areas that may not have the machines or be run by Democrats. The whole point is not to win back America, but rather as an organizing force preparing for succession.

Yes that is a good reminder. We won’t be able to return to what was because they did get away with the fundamental transformation so now we must leave altogether. There is actually quite a bit of energy out there for such a thing too. I heard recently that after the 2020 elections as many as a quarter of registered voters now think secession is a solution to the political and social polarization that has occurred in the country.

  84. Sean Coleman January 16, 2021 at 1:11 pm #

Colin Flaherty says that the number of white on black rapes never exceeds ten any year (and sometimes there are none) while the other way round it is in thousands. (He says Obama stopped breaking down the statistics by race.) Of course, this is beside the point because rape is all about power so I expect looks do not come into it. Or so the experts say.

    • Sean Coleman January 16, 2021 at 1:12 pm #

That was for Akom et al up-thread.

    • hmuller January 16, 2021 at 5:08 pm #

Yes, I agree, Sean. Statistics tell one story; but our mainstream propaganda news industry has another agenda. They take one story and pound on it. Then the Soros mob for hire arrives on buses and begins the rioting, burning, vandalism, and looting.

“Look at all the moral outrage over injustice in the land” scream the presstitutes.

They have to beatify career criminals like George Floyd because they have a hard time finding truly innocent black victims of police brutality.

Yes, on occasion it happens. In a nation of 330 million all sorts of things happen. In fact, white men committing crimes or fleeing there from are shot the same as black men. But those stories never get national attention, they don’t fit the agenda

And now we stand on the cusp of an Orwellian tyranny and the end of free speech altogether. It really has come down to a war between good and evil. All you trolls supporting the deep state, the globalist corporate one-world agenda, the WOKE culture; you are the evil!

  85. Sean Coleman January 16, 2021 at 1:15 pm #

That Canadian from Studio Brulé has a photo on his latest YT video of a BLM/Antifa man, who he said was seriously involved in the summer of riots. Aaron something or other, the father a NY judge. No surprises there then. How many agents provocateurs have been identified by now, does anybody know?

    • SoftStarLight January 16, 2021 at 1:49 pm #

Well John Sullivan’s brother said there were over 200 BLM plants among the immediate crowd that went into the building first.

      • Sean Coleman January 16, 2021 at 3:08 pm #

Yes, I saw video of three smallish buses parked nearby and a claim that they were used to bring in the troublemakers, with a police escort. I cannot say it that is true but, based on what I have heard has been happening throughout the US during the summer, it is credible.

        • SoftStarLight January 17, 2021 at 3:46 am #

And also keep in mind that billions of dollars in corporate donations have been funneled to BLM and probably to Antifa too before they were labeled a domestic terror group. So they definitely have the resources and training to pull off coordinated and sophisticated covert attacks as well as regular run of the mill overt riots. Allegedly many Antifa people specifically were trained in places like Syria.

          • Sean Coleman January 17, 2021 at 6:15 am #

I knew about the funding but I did not know that Antifa had been labelled a terror group. I suppose all they have to do is set up a similar organization and Antifa’s members can join that instead. I am surprised they were called terrorists seeing as they are just carrying out the regime’s wishes.

This principle is that there is a bottom line that must be faced squarely if the state is not to become all- powerful and usurp God’s primacy. We must recognize that there is a bottom line if we are to have real freedom of thought and action at the present time – even if, happily, we never reach that bottom line. If we have not faced the possibility of civil disobedience, if needed, our thinking and action at the present time will lack the freedom they should have….Simply put, the Declaration of Independence states that the people, if they find that their basic rights are being systematically attacked by the state, have a duty to try to change the government, and if they cannot do so, to abolish it.” – Dr. Francis A. Schaeffer

    Predictions:

    – Every single election (on the national level) will be contested by the losing side from here on out. And with good reason (unless they get the damn computers out of the game, which will not happen).

    – If they don’t also have a majority in both houses, every President will be impeached from here on out.

    – People in the “losing party” will stop voting once their side wins again and they realize that it could’ve been fixed in their favor just as easily…and therefore likely was.

    – Liquor stores and weed dispensaries will do record business, and then before long no one will give a rat’s ass what happens in DC as long as their UBI credit shows up in their account every week.

    – Taco Bell will be the last restaurant standing in the Fast Food Wars (Demolition Man probably wasn’t kidding about everything)

I suggest people read books. We’re losing focus on reality.

Its gonna be pretty funny in the spring when Derek Chauvin is acquitted and BLM and Antifa mobs take to the streets, looting, hunting whitey, and burning down every lefty controlled sh#thole city from Portland to Baltimore. Hunting whitey, but whitey is onto the game now and may not be so cooperative this time around.

I don’t know, maybe Beijing Biden will call on his partner Xi Jingping to help restore order, send in a few divisions of PLA.

    • MrMangoOnMyShoulder January 16, 2021 at 3:19 pm #

Brh – Can’t argue with you there, well, except for the Chauvin fallout in the streets being funny…it is possible he will be acquitted, as they jacked the charges up to the point it will be much harder to prove.

I’m out in suburbia, but definitely not far enough to be comfortable if that shit breaks loose. And woe be to those within the inner ring. I certainly don’t want to play that game if it spills out.

Interesting though…we’d be at an odd place in modern history if they convicted the man just to keep people from rioting. But they just might do that too. I heard an inner city preacher say that someone has to go to jail in this case, or it’ll be absolute mayhem (which he didn’t agree with, he was just stating it as what he knows to be a fact). It’ll be ugly.

Actually, even if he’s convicted it’ll be ugly. Like when the Lakers win a championship and downtown gets looted and cars set on fire anyway just out of celebration.

      • BackRowHeckler January 16, 2021 at 3:44 pm #

Well, if Chauvin is convicted — which I seriously doubt — there will be violence too, I agree. A sneaker store looted here, a Walgreens Pharmacy burned out there, nothing too serious. IOW another impromptu urban shopping spree. It will be containable.

As far as our situation out here, enough of my rich lefty neighbors have BLM signs posted on their front lawns that the violent mobs hopefully will pass us by and move on to the blue collar town up the road, where the mob will meet fierce resistance.

  91. JohnAZ January 16, 2021 at 3:34 pm #

    Mr. Mango

You have hit the problem on the head.

The Joe six pack human quality has dropped so low and the stupidity so high that the society can no longer regulate its behavior.

    This ALWAYS ends up badly.

I still cannot believe the two different reactions, last week’s Capitol riot versus the summer BLM riots, and the Leftist reaction to both. Also the RINOs. I believe it is societal schizophrenia. We as a group are nuts.

It is good we have so many media pundits to do our thinking for us. We do not have the smarts to think for ourselves, it seems.

    • MrMangoOnMyShoulder January 16, 2021 at 6:01 pm #

      JohnAZ –

Isn’t it interesting that the current generations have instant access to nearly every piece of information humanity has ever learned, studied, debated, not to mention millenia of actions taken and their end results…

And because of that 24/7 access, nearly everyone now has little interest in actually learning anything anymore. You know, as in embedded in their actual gray matter. Except (maybe) how to do their job. And since the concept of holding a job is going out of fashion, well…I’m sure you get my point.

“This always ends up badly” will likely turn out to be the unheeded understatement of the century.

  92. Mike Roberts January 16, 2021 at 5:04 pm #

“Is it any wonder that a huge chunk of the population doesn’t believe the election was on-the-level?”

No. Trump has repeated this claim almost continuously for the last two months. Of course that would influence a huge chunk of the population.

[My previous comment along these lines was censored for unknown reasons.]

    • hmuller January 16, 2021 at 5:19 pm #

Clearly, you haven’t actually looked at the evidence of election fraud. And don’t ask me to spoon feed it to you. I aint your research bitch.

          • Night Owl January 16, 2021 at 6:21 pm #

JHK needs to get an admin in here to clear the returning trolls.

My scrolling finger hurts once the comments go over 200, particularly with the arrival of Tekapo and yet another set of word salads that are disproven with a 2-minute Interwebz search.

          • Dick Tuck 2.0 January 16, 2021 at 6:33 pm #

It’s an embarrassing question, of course. You see, in the real world, when you make an accusation like that it is customary to also present evidence to support it.

Of course there is none, as we saw with trump’s crack legal team. So the whole ridiculous mess will soon fade away as real leadership takes over and we forget the orange slob’s name.

          • Tekapo January 17, 2021 at 1:57 am #

“… the arrival of Tekapo and yet another set of word salads that are disproven with a 2-minute Interwebz search.”

It seems you’re uncomfortable with reasoned and reasonable opinion that differs from yours, and believe that ad hominem personal attacks are a suitable defense.

I don’t think I post “word salad”, and have stated a number of times that I don’t like either Trump or Biden, don’t believe that it is “proven” that there was election fraud, and I certainly don’t share the view that the Biden admin will mean TEOTWAWKI.

It’s just a change from Republican to Democrat, and not particularly earth-shattering, I believe. And of course it would be nice to know what I have said that can be dis-proven with a two-minute search.

      • Mike Roberts January 16, 2021 at 8:23 pm #

My comment has nothing to do with whether there is evidence or not; it’s about JHK’s words about the people who don’t believe it was a fair election.

Your comment suggests that you haven’t researched the evidence, which is probably similar to many here. The evidence, as sometimes hinted at here, seems flimsy, at best. At this late hour, not even Trump’s team have seen fit to release all the evidence they supposedly have. It seems few have either been convinced by what evidence there is or have simply not examined it. However, if one believes everything Trump says, then one would not need to be convinced.

    • MrMangoOnMyShoulder January 16, 2021 at 6:05 pm #

Mike R -“No. Trump has repeated this claim almost continuously for the last two months. ”

Several months before that, actually, in advance of the election.

Again…and how many times must this be brought up in reminding everyone currently on the high horse…media, dems and their supporters repeated that claim for four years prior. As you put it, “of course that would influence a huge chunk of the population”…no?

      • Redneck Liberal January 16, 2021 at 6:11 pm #

It sure did influence, Mr Mango, but it doesn’t make it true.

        • JohnAZ January 16, 2021 at 6:29 pm #

Neither does the total ignorance by every court without even looking at the evidence mean that it is false. This is one of the biggest reasons to believe in the huge extent of collusion. The Dem stranglehold on this country is awesome. Even the GOP was Democratic in this election. The Deep State is enormous.

Damn the GOP! Next party please.

          • Dick Tuck 2.0 January 16, 2021 at 6:49 pm #

Yes, even those judges appointed by trump. Out to get him.

          • Redneck Liberal January 16, 2021 at 7:30 pm #

So, you believe that no one (judges that is) looked at ‘the evidence’ . Not so. You believe what your echo chamber has been telling you for months.

Check out Saagar & Ball on ‘Rising’ on The Hill channel on YouTube. They actually dissected each case, AND looked at the evidence offered to the various judges, rather a ‘wave of the hand’ “disproven”. They could see where the judges were coming from.

            Here’s one for starters.

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTyQgeetGQs

          • hmuller January 16, 2021 at 7:39 pm #

Yes, most of those judges are loyal to the globalist new world order, not to Trump or the American people and our traditions of limited government and individual rights.

For decades the system has been controlled by rotten, evil creatures (I’m sure you know the type) who advance those who join “the club”. There’s the carrot and there’s the stick to motivate compliance.

Or did you think no videos were made at Epstein Island?

          • Redneck Liberal January 16, 2021 at 7:50 pm #

John, I refer you upthread (or previous blog) to the story some ‘troll’ posted about the two Republicans who died. When God informed them that the election had not been stolen, one turned to the other saying, “Gee! The conspiracy goes even higher than we thought!”

          • hmuller January 16, 2021 at 7:56 pm #

Redneck, your linked video dates from a week after the election, and is flawed by incompleteness. It doesn’t address a number of election irregularities, just a few select ones, which are dismissed not on their merits but on the grounds “it doesn’t amount to enough votes to change the election”.

Well yeah. If you think the examples they cite are the total picture. Such is not the case.

          • Redneck Liberal January 16, 2021 at 8:39 pm #

hmuller – and then…nothing happened. What was true on 10th November is still true on 15th January.

            Ok Redneck, You’ve convinced me.

We live under the rule of law. Justice flows like a river thru society. There is no deep state, there is no Council on Foreign Relations, no UN, no Corporate Globalists, no rich and powerful forces running our would their way and to hell with the people.

The Covid crisis is bigger than the bubonic plague and we should all stay home for years to come lest we catch this flu bug. Nothing wrong with destroying millions of small businesses & bankrupting the middle class. We can all live off printed money sent out as stimulus checks.

            Is that where you live?

          • Redneck Liberal January 16, 2021 at 10:08 pm #

            No, hmuller.

I don’t live in a constant state of frustration at all the things I cannot do anything about.

I do what I do, the way I am able to, and within the law, as it stands. Nothing complicated about it. You could try it.

          • hmuller January 17, 2021 at 12:31 am #

“I do what I do, the way I am able to,” – Redneck

And just what is it that you do? It looks like you embrace the oppressive globalist dystopia your friends in the deep state have planned for us.

And it doesn’t matter “what I can do nothing about”. I will go to my grave speaking the truth and proclaiming the rights and dignity God gave to humanity .

You can chose to serve your dark master; you will share his fate.

    Well, ladies and germs;

Our soon-to-be Head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division ‘splains to us why Blacks are not only physically dominant, but also Intellectually superior.

    https://thedaleygator.com/2021/01/15/is-this-racist-because-it-sure-sounds-racist-to-me-2/

Apparently, it has to do with a lack of melanin. We whites have calcified pineal glands, which restricts the production of melanin (the magic-mojo), with tragic results that we continue to see all over the world where Whites predominate…but we are too goddamned stupid to recognize Black innate superiority…’cause of racism…and shit.
