Welcome to the world where things don’t add up. For instance, some people did some things to the Saudi Arabian oil refinery at Abqaiq over the weekend. Like, sent over a salvo of cruise missiles and armed drone aircraft to blow it up. They did a pretty good job of disabling the works. It is Saudi Arabia’s largest oil processing facility, and for now, perhaps months, a fair amount of the world’s oil supply will be cut off. President Trump said “[we] are waiting to hear from the Kingdom as to who they believe was the cause of this attack, and under what terms we would proceed!” Exclamation mark his.
How many times the past few years has our government declared that “we have the finest intelligence services in the world.” Very well, then, why are we waiting for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to tell us who fired all that stuff into Abqaiq? Whoever did it, it was unquestionably an act of war. And, of course, what are we going to do about it? (And what will some people do about it?)
Let’s face it: the USA has had a hard-on for Iran for forty years, ever since they overthrew their shah, invaded the US embassy in Tehran, and took fifty-two American diplomats and staff hostage for 444 days. On the other hand, the Arabians and Iranians have had a mutual hard-on for centuries, long before the Saud family was in charge of things, and back when Iran was known as Persia, a land of genies, fragrant spices, and a glorious antiquity (while Arabia was a wasteland of sand populated by nomads and their camels).
The beef was formerly just about which brand of Islam would prevail, Sunni or Shia. Lately (the past fifty years) it has been more about the politics of oil and hegemony over the Middle East. Since the US invaded Iraq and busted up the joint, the threat has existed that Iran would take over Iraq, with its majority Shia population, especially the oil-rich Basra region at the head of the Persian Gulf. The presence of Israel greatly complicates things, since Iran has a hard-on for that nation, too, and for Jews especially, often expressed in the most belligerent and opprobrious terms, such as “wiping Israel off the map.” No ambiguity there. The catch being that Israel has the capability of turning Iran into an ashtray.
The world has been waiting for a major war in the Middle east for decades, and it might have one by close of business today. Or perhaps some people will do nothing. The Iran-backed Houthi rebels of Yemen supposedly claimed responsibility for the attack. That’s rich. As if that rag-tag outfit has a whole bunch of million-dollar missiles and the knowledge and capacity to launch them successfully, not to mention the satellite guidance mojo. A correspondent suggests that the missiles were fired from a pro-Iranian military base in Iraq, with the Houthis brought in on flying carpets to push the launch buttons.
President Trump is trumpeting America’s “energy independence,” meaning whatever happens over there won’t affect us. Well, none of that is true. We still import millions of barrels of oil a day, though much less from Saudi Arabia than before 2008. The shale oil “miracle” is hitting the skids these days. Shale oil production has gone flat, the rig-count is down, companies are going bankrupt, and financing for the debt-dependent operations is dwindling since the producers have demonstrated that they can’t make a profit at it. They’re trapped in the quandary of diminishing returns, frontloading production, while failing to overcome steep decline curves in wells that only produce for a couple of years.
It’s also the case that shale oil is ultra-light crude, containing little heavier distillates such as diesel and aviation fuel (basically kerosene). Alas, American refineries were all built before shale oil came along. They were designed to crack heavier oil and can’t handle the lighter shale. The “majors” don’t want to invest their remaining capital in new refineries, and the many smaller companies don’t have the ability. So, this makes necessary a high volume of oil swapping around the world. Without diesel and aviation fuel, US trucking and commercial aviation has a big problem, meaning the US economy has a big problem.
With the new crisis in the Middle East, benchmark West Texas Intermediate oil is up from around $55-a-barrel to just over $60 at the market open (European Brent crude is just above $70). That’s a pop, but not a spectacular one, considering that a whole lot more damage might ensue in the days ahead. China, Korea, and Japan stand to lose bigly if the players in the Middle East really go at it and bust up each other’s assets. If that happens, the world will never be the same. You can kiss the global economy goodbye for good. Let’s hope some people don’t do something.

“Arabia was a wasteland of sand populated by nomads and their camels” — I was reminded of what you said in “The End of Suburbia” about “all it takes is 50 pounds of plastic explosive and a camel to take out a pipeline.” This is very similar, although it was some cheap drones and a facility more sophisticated than a mere pipeline. Still, the concept applies.
All this takes place as the United States is fixing to tip into recession anyway, something the yield curve, “the chart that predicts recessions” is already telling us. A good old-fashioned oil price shock would do the trick.
Meanwhile, the Retail Apocalypse rolls on, as GameStop announced it was losing money and closing stores.
I think if Trump “does nothing” overt it will actually give the international community a sense that America, under this president, has returned to noninterventionist politics. That may be a good thing.
This could very well be a US/Israeli deep state provocation to test that very theory and put it under pressure.
This event seems eerily similar to some of the recent US mass shootings. What does that tell us?
How about not so recent events. Like the US embargo of oil exports to Japan in August 1941. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor about 4 months later. Has Trump been looking for an excuse to attack Iran ever since he puled the US out of the Iran nuclear agreement?
Yeah, it makes you wonder about what’s really going on and who is really pulling the strings and for what outcome? Like so many of these types of incidents, you can probably bet that the official story we are told will be a lie.

Any chance this ‘other peoples kids’ stuff could bring an end to the murder of Yemenis or at least make the murder known? Perhaps there is an outside possibility someone at war with SA actually did the droning as they claimed instead of the more convenient and self serving explanation.

Murder? What about those murdered in the Saudi oil drone strike? Or do their lives not count?

I don’t think you even know if the attack killed anybody. It is hard to believe it did not. But did you put that out there without even knowing? Fess up. How many?

Actually, he has a bit of low level commonsense that constantly gets him in trouble since it’s at odds with the Ideology and Narrative. I watched a YouTube video two days ago by Fellow named David Goldberg (a Very Proud Jewish fellow) that was bragging loudly about POTUS having converted to judaism over two years ago and being admitted into the CHABAD organization of the Hasidim’s.

C’mon Jeremy, lay off JHK; this whole confab is such a tangle you can pull at any of the dangling loose strings and come out with different conclusions — it remains anybody’s guess, even among the individual members of deep state operations (if that is what it is)? JHK still puts out as plausible explanations as anyone about all the current and historic seismic rumblings at play.
Jim also failed to mention the events of 1953 when the US and the UK orchestrated the overthrow of Iran’s democratically-elected prime minister, Mohammad Mosaddegh, because he was planning to nationalize Iran’s oil. At that time Iran was a very different place from what it is today. The 26-year reign of the Shah, who replaced him as ruler, was so brutal that the Iranians had a revolution in 1979 to get rid of him. Unfortunately they didn’t go back to a democracy, but instead became a theocracy. Google pictures of life in Iran prior to 1953 and you will be very surprised. Imagine what a different country Iran would be today if the US and the UK had minded their own business back in 1953. In fact, the whole Middle East would be very different if the US and the UK could learn to mind their own business.
UK and US engineers and expertise developed Iran’s oil fields.
Events in 1953 to install the Shah was a cold war action to keep Persia out of the hands of the Soviet Union. It’s easy to second guess decisions that were made 65 years ago.

We don’t need opinions about what he said or didn’t say. A simple YT search with “Mahmoud Ahmadinejad” will yield dozens of videos confirming that he did indeed make such statements. He’s justified them with false equivalence what aboutisms, with claims that wiping Israel off the map is no different than arguing for regime change.
Please do post a couple of the dozens on videos.
In light of the Pearl Harbor level of this event, the markets – stocks, bonds, oil, precious metals – are all very muted in their reaction, I’d expect to see a full-assed financial panic. Maybe they are waiting to see what direction events take.

So it seems likely to be Iran had more than a hand in there. But what response? If you give your enemy no option but pile on sanctions and trying to destroy it economically what does the USA expect? Saudi water desalination plants, refineries and ports would also be targets.
It is doubtful that Trump or the Saudis are ready to risk such a response.”
What remains? I guess talk would likely work and the US having to acknowledge that their strategy to try to force Iran onto its knees after cancelling their participation in the JPAUC was the wrong move?
Do you want the oil exports from the Persian Gulf to be controlled by Iran? That is what is being threatened here. One small hit and 50% of SA oil exports stop. One more and it is gone? One hit on the Gulf oil terminal and poof, no more ME oil, period.
If our intelligence community has done their job, the removal of the missiles would be a one day job.
However?
Iran never threatened anyone until the USA withdrew from an Agreement on nuclear weapon development. Iran never had signed any agreement to not develop conventional missiles – and why should they with a wealthy enemy like the house of Saud in the neighbourhood, who after all were the source of the 9/11 attacks, the source for financing Al Qaeda, the source generally for muslim fundamentalism in almost all shades and that can afford to buy any amount of weaponry it desires.
iran did not attack Iraq, the converse is true with the USA supplying intelligence and the Europeans supplying chemical and likely biological weapons. Like the Russians who the USA had plans to destroy with atomic weapons right after WW2 the Iranians have no reason to trust anything the West promises.
The Iranians have been victims as have many other Nations in the middle east of the rampant colonialism mainly by France and the UK, and have any reason after the destruction of their fledgling democracy in 1954 to not trust anyone from Europe or the USA who were involved in deposing Mossadegh.
Your response just shows one thing clearly – most persons from the USA posting on many sites are completely oblivious to history of the region and the fact that history isn’t in the past, but continuous to the present with hundreds of years of baggage of colonialism.
Verses what Persia did in the past?
Pay back Iran is not the Persia of old but still thinks it is.

That’s a poor justification for a violent and deadly escalation.
Cuba experienced crippling sanctions and learned to cope with them indefinitely. We never crushed Cuba, and they don’t have anywhere near Iran’s resources. So the idea that sanctions must lead to war is not in evidence.
Iran had no options? Please. No one forces them to sponsor terrorism, and they could end it today. It would go a long way toward reestablishing normality with the world community.

Why not destroy what the main threat is, the missiles. For sure, clobber the site that launched this attack. A MOAB would be appropriate. Then attack all of the sites, all of them. They are all in the southern areas of Iran and maybe Iraq and little human damage would be done turning these sites into ashtrays. We have allowed the buildup of missiles to happen under the wonderful Obama treaty and now we falter in fear of these missiles. No wonder the Iranians think they can get away with just about anything now. They think they have us over a barrel, so to speak, and this battle between them and SA will just continue to escalate. If the US does not defend SA and thus ourself and Israel, just at least stand out of the way and allow Israel to do the job. But then do not expect anyone in the world to ever respect the reliability of the US. The US will just shrivel up over the next decade or so.
Oh, wait a minute, the way the US is going now, it is going to shrivel up into a third world country anyway. The Globalists are wearing big grins this morning as the rate of deceleration is increasing.
The spine of the US voted for Trump in part to stop the foreign successes against the US. His future may depend on what he does in response here. Remember Desert Storm? Iraq trying to take Kuwait’s oil? Bush goofed by not taking out Hussein then leading on to W finishing the job. This area of the world respects one thing, power. These Muslims, especially Shia, will just keep coming back if they are not obliterated. Trump, you have the opportunity to show the ME that you will stand by your word. Once you have figured out who did it, obliterate their ability to do it again. If that does not stop them, obliterate them.
History Lesson: Israel coveted the rich farmland of Southern Lebanon. Hezbollah divined their intent and began to dig in and continued to do for more than a decade. When the invasion began, they were ready and crushed the Zionist Imperialists. Likewise, Iran has been digging in for many years. It is by no means certain that we can destroy all their missile bases, John. Whether we attack or Israel does, Israel is going to take a lot of punishment. The Iranians have vowed no less. As you know from the the Project for the New American Century, there is very little difference between the two nations at this point. One serves the other. The Iranians have discerned this as well.

If the area is worth going to war over, then losses will happen. If the US attacks Iran alone, they sure will not be firing much at Israel. But Israel will be right in there, getting their licks in, you can bet on it.
If the area is worth fighting over, obliterate their defense capability and if that does not stop them, obliterate them. That is the no. One lesson of all our wars since WW2, we never win them and the enemy just keeps coming back. So either decide to take the lumps, win the war unconditionally, or stay the hell away.
And do not expect to be a “superpower”.

The Iranians need not be our enemies, but some parties (who will remain nameless) have manipulated the situation towards mutual hated and war. We need to wise up and see who the real enemies are.

The folks itching to establish the NWO, have been working feverishly for years to set up the perfect economic storm. Trump has been their go to guy, the dream player, better than HRC, for sure. She could have started all the wars they wanted.
At some point, they decided to go with the collapse of the economic system upon which the whole world depends. Trump is really a talented guy; they could not have picked a better for their purposes. Posturing, tweeting and pimping for the oligarchs, one can hardly take ones eyes off the act he puts on.
Wars(actually only rumors of wars) will keep our attention off the real killer until it collapses. Most people obviously have not dedicated enough time to realize just how effectively the world will shut down when the money system quits working.
TPTB have no need of hot shooting wars between state players when they can just clean up after we the people have shot each other.
IMO, that is the plan, and it seems to be working very well. The planned crisis is obviously near. Engineering the detonation of this bomb is undoubtedly ticklish; and of course, it might just blow up in their faces. We can hope that it does…….

To expand a bit, the 2018 US trade deficit with China was over 400 billion according to official stats. Do you believe official numbers? I wipe my ass with them.
No matter, you need only have a pair of functioning eyeballs to see what transpired economically over the past few decades and, to give the numbers their due, the story the deficit number tells is in line with visual evidence.
The trade deficit with China is gigantic but that’s not the whole of it, the 2018 trade deficit, including all sources, was around 620 billion. It’s been in the crapper since the 1970s but really went south in the 1990s.
You may have heard this already but some guys liken these trade deficits to losing a portion of the yearly GDP. So, if 2018 GDP was 20.5 trillion, 620 billion is around 3% of GDP. That’s a big slice and that happens one year after another. According to the St Louis Fed the trade deficit since 1970 averaged over 2% of GDP. Add all that up and it’s a colossal pile of money we’re talking about. No wonder so much of the country is in dire straights.

As far as China itself goes, the trade surplus with the US is a huge whack of the country’s GDP. Do you know what China’s GDP is? Don’t worry, neither does anyone else. Even Chinese economists say that China’s stats are “man-made” ie bollocks. But, no doubt, it’s big. Can China afford to do without exports to the US? It’s a judgement call because if national stats are generally a joke, China’s are twice as funny. But my gut feel is that if the borders in the US suddenly closed to Chinese-made goods, China would be in deep shit.
For all the talk about China’s burgeoning middle class, and no doubt it’s growing, a majority of the population is still dirt-poor, with hundreds of millions in sub-saharan standards of living. And a lot of Chinese banks are supposedly in very iffy condition. In short, even if the US market accounts for a minority of China’s exports, it’s still big enough to be really important. A shut-off of trade would cause serious trouble.
I think that what’s kept the Chinese Communists in power, besides brute force, is the objective FACT and not just the hope of things getting better for the average joe over there. Does the US have the capacity to turn out the lights in China? I wouldn’t go that far. But the Chinese commies have to show an upward trajectory giving the folk in the country-side some hope that things will be better if not for them then their kids.

Several points regarding Iranian capabilities.

The economy was in pretty sad shape, and he did manage to do some good there, and as a matter of fact when Trump took over, he had the advantage of the economy doing ok.
As a rule, it seems to generally take a couple of years for the economic efforts of a new president to take root, and I would venture to say that Trump was the beneficiary of that time. I know, I know, there will arise an immediate howl from the Trump supporters that that’s not true, in fact that Trumps policies were working from day 1 of him taking office. Of course, those were the people who tried to pin Bush’s (and Congress’s) fuckups on Obama as soon as he took over the office. As much as I dislike Obama, in all fairness he did a decent job of getting us back on the right track.
In truth, for me to make this argument here in light of what it has become, it’s tantamount to standing behind a manure spreader waiting for the on lever to be pulled. Oh well, it used to be mostly about peak oil, and related subjects, and I really miss those days. Politics was where it belonged, in the shit spreader, waiting to be hauled off somewhere else.

500# not needed for those targets, a small shaped charge fits the bill perfectly.
Shaped charges would change things but while a simple concept application is not easy. Many attempts to use them by militants around the world but with mixed results. Big bombs on target tend to always have the desired effect, shaped charges need near perfect conditions and geometry to be effective.
Who knows in this case since what is really going on is most likely something completely different than it appears.

Here’s a factoid: out of the 7 billion barrels of oil it took for the allies to win WW2, 6 1/2 billion of them came from inside the continental United States. By 1944 we were tapped out, which led to Roosevelt’s and laterTrumans oil deals and treaties with Saudi Arabia, which had plenty of untapped reserves.

The issue that arose in 2018 was the IAEAs request to inspect the military bases in Iran for signs of nuclear enrichment. They were refused, and at the same time it was noted that inspections of sites in Iran were done from Iranian inspection report reviews rather than direct inspections. Nikki Haley went through the UN to request IAEA access to the military bases for nuclear and was refused again. IAEA was now considered unreliable. When the Iranians were called out, it was announced that they would have their enriching centrifuges up in a month. The administration did not think much of all this, and withdrew. We still do not know if continued development of nuclear weapons capability was conducted on military bases. And obviously, the Iranians did not want us or the IAEA to know.

I am reminded of a news item from 20-30 years ago. There were these two Irish brothers in Boston. They were as Irish as Paddy’s Pig (or Patty’s, if that is your preference). They wanted to become firemen and were pissed off that affirmative action was giving an advantage to blacks. So they simply (and absurdly) declared that they were black or perhaps half black, and threw the whole system into a quandary.

I then told them I had Cherokee ancestors and Walla I was able to pick what I wanted to do. Suddenly they were pushing me towards the nuke program but I chose Electronics instead and became a SPS-49 RADAR Technician and I coasted through the program making test scores in the high 80’s.
I know full well the intense dislike of affirmative action I also tried to get on the city of Beverly hills fire department and was soundly rejected in favor of people who scored lower on the written test and the tower! Why they needed more blacks and Hispanics so they did not get sued had I but thought about Grandma being born on the reservation I would be retired right now.

Minneapolis is dropping a plan to hold separate trainings for people of different races, and some don’t like how that’s been portrayed in the media. Renee Jones Schneider, Star Tribune

Last week, the city of Minneapolis took an unfortunate and harmful misstep by cancelling a series of “Sacred Conversations” that would have given an opportunity for city staff to learn and reflect about the United States 400 year history of white supremacy.
According to the city, they were cancelled because of white pushback to the Division of Race Equity’s decision to offer separate workshops for white-bodied and Black-bodied staff.
Jeff Kolb, a former Crystal City councilmember, was among those who expressed outrage on social media.

Local media followed suit, with both the Star Tribune and City Pages harmfully and erroneously using the term “segregation” to describe the programming.
This inappropriate and ignorant language reinforces a dangerous falsehood: that efforts to confront white supremacy and systemic racism are divisive, not racism itself.
Segregation has been a key feature of the structural racism that defines our American story: from the legal construction of “separate but equal” to the schools, neighborhoods and services more covertly racist policies have kept segregated—and unequal—today. The Sacred Conversations the city has put off were meant to confront the violence and trauma of that history, using separate spaces for white-bodied and Black-bodied people as a vital tool in that process.
In other words, calling for separate spaces is not the same as segregation has been and is being used in the US; it is respecting the wishes of Black-bodied people in constructing how the sacred spaces will work for them.
Writer and embodiment facilitator Kelsey Blackwell, a bi-racial woman, makes the issue plain: “These spaces aren’t acts of oppression, but rather responses to it. They are our opportunity to be with each other away from the abuses of racism and patterns of white dominance.”
European colonizers built the United States on an economy of slavery and a fabricated racial hierarchy, and white-bodied people’s investment in maintaining the illusion of our whiteness (read: superiority and entitlement to wealth, access and space) is what powers it forward.
In this moment, in Minneapolis and elsewhere, white people are spending that power to obstruct opportunities for folks of color to come together and heal without us.
It’s understandable for white-bodied folks to feel uncomfortable being asked to convene with one another to address racism. We might feel like engaging in anti-racism entitles us to build relationships across race—relationships many white-bodied people lack. The idea could trigger our discomfort with whiteness itself—a category created as a tool of oppression. Too, we are often led to believe that the solution to racism lies in diversity and inclusion—and therefore find it incongruous to create racially separate spaces.
None of us who have been conditioned into what sociologist Joe Feagin calls “the white racial frame,” and certainly none of us raised in white bodies, can know the formula for dismantling white supremacy.
But we can know that the work must involve two things: being uncomfortable, and listening to folks of color.
The call from folks of color for BIPOC-only and Black-only processing spaces is clear.
White-bodied people should consider that caucus spaces for us, too, can be a helpful tool to unlearn our racist conditioning: it’s important for white-bodied people to come together to reflect on our role in white supremacy as one step (not the only step) in healing our society.
If that idea creates discomfort, then we should practice stepping into it. Doing so is an essential part of our work.

So now the inevitable has happened, nat/has shortages in Brooklyn, and National Grid refusing to do anymore new hook ups in the Borough. Here’s a humorous little account of something that happened today. I was sitting with some friends this morning having coffee, and one of my friends had his electronic book reader with him. We were discussing something in the news, and we needed to refer to something, so I said to my friend jokingly, “Maybe we could ask Alexa about that”. Suddenly his e reader said “How can I help you”, or something like that. Turns out he had an Alexa program on his e reader, and it had been listening in on us the whole time. Pretty funny huh?
Last week I was shopping in a Home Depot, and as soon as I walked in, it seemed like something was different, Walking down the aisles, I kept hearing beeps, and I looked around and there was a little screen clipped onto a shelf and I was on camera. I started looking, and there was a little camera about every twenty feet along the aisle, and as you approached it, it would emit a beep to draw your attention to it, and let you know that you were on camera.
The intent is to let you know that you are being watched and recorded at all times. I went and found the store manager and asked if this was part of their new store policy, and he said “It’s no big deal, it’s just a security measure”. I told him that this was a bit different than having a camera up in the ceiling anonymously surveying the store. The aisle cameras are there, and they want you to know you are being watched. Shades of Big Brother! I told him it was the last time I would walk through their doors, since no doubt sometime in the future, there would be strip searches along with rectal exams for the more suspicious looking customers.
I honestly don’t think I’m overreacting, since I have been concerned for quite some time about businesses and the government keeping tabs on people using every technological gimmick they can come up with. My guess is that the cameras you mention have a lot more to do with marketing than shrinkage control. It may well be that those cameras are part of a marketing pilot program to determine customers preferences and interests. The system probably includes face recognition so the marketers can deduce that you, El Capitan, are interested in those whole house water filters because the cameras caught you lingering in Aisle X Bin Y. Home Depot, and Lowes, and all the other big box stores take care of the shrinkage (theft) issue by having hefty markups on the merchandise they sell. Trust me, the markups are huge. So, essentially you’re paying yet another “tax” to fund the underclass for whom theft is just another perfectly normal income stream along with food stamps and housing support. If you want to be outraged, there’s your target. Frankly, those who would rule us don’t really care who you are or what you think, they just want your money.

What they care about is that the stream of cash keeps flowing and they get to take “their” cut as part of the stream comes through their register. As you pointed out, theft is just part of the cost of doing business that they pass on to the paying customers.
At the margin, they can increase their edge over LOWES, etc by keeping it from getting out of hand, but losses in big lawsuits far outweigh that marginal gain if they are not VERY careful. That is why only designated people are allowed to do anything about theft (other than to report it to “loss control”).
Lawsuit scams are bigger dangers to them than theft, even theft by the organized rings (which they do care about). There are actually rings that go about setting up these scams. A “bad bust” can cost a retailer, especially a big chain, a fortune in legal fees and settlements.

I’ve lived off-grid in the high desert for almost 18 years, using solar & wind power. I can affirm that photovoltaics are very anemic during cold, dark winters here, that’s why I also have a wind generator, which rarely runs during the summer–even if it’s windy I keep it off, as the PV is cheaper to run, having no moving parts to wear out. But during the winter it’s a lifestyle-saver. Heat with wood, not electricity.

Now that you mention it I do have to say that this summer was the strangest summer here where I live weather-wise since I have been alive. Overall it was much cooler than normal. Normally in Louisiana the humidity is constantly 100% in the summer but there were days where the humidity literally went down to like 30%. That of course made it more bearable but it also made it eerily very different than normal and kinda creepy since even in mid-July during the nights when it’s supposed to feel hot as Hell it is crisp and nice out! It was much cloudier than usual though not necessarily rainier or anything. A couple of days the clouds were winter-looking type clouds. Not the big puffy clouds that grow right before your eyes as is normal in the summer. Then when it does actually rain it always seems like its not just a regular rain but its always really bad weather. And we literally kept getting “cool fronts” coming in from the north during each month of the summer. I never remember anything like that ever happening before since “cool fronts” stop by June, and neither does anyone I know. Something is definitely happening. I don’t believe its warming.

I noticed the same here in LA (Lower Alabama) and remarked on it to my Yankee born wife. The reason the nights stayed so agreeable was that the ground temperatures didn’t get really high, partly from the moderate temps and partly because the lower humidity let the heat radiate away at night. When the ground temperatures get high it’s like being in an oven at night.

I think I’ll check out main street in the village PM say about noon, look for any strikers. How do you spot one? Anybody who looks like they’re suffering an existential crisis, who has a look of angst on their faces, is a potential striker. For it’s a strike against one self, really, against God, against humanity itself. The only logical conclusion of a strike like this is walk down to Town Bridge and jump off into the river, the ultimate sacrifice to Mother Earth. Like in the days of the Aztecs.
