This insta-cliche of a new WEF-inspired “15-Minute City,” called Telosa, pushed by WalMart e-commerce billionaire Marc Lore, is based on a philosophy he calls “Equitism.” That says it all, if you’re tuned into the finer vibes of Woke utopian megalomania. “We’re on a mission to create a more equitable and sustainable future,” Mr. Lore declares. Sound familiar? “Starting with a clean slate we have this really unique opportunity to focus on what’s really most important…. a new model for society!”

The clean slate is another giveaway. The stuff of history is just so much clutter. Don’t bother with it. We’ll get it just right from inception and the darn thing will run as cleanly and precisely as an atomic clock, a perfect machine-for-living. “Telosa is founded on inclusivity, openness, and fairness,” the promotional video says. But of course: the DEI kit-bag….

This exercise in grand-scale virtue-signaling is in its conceptual development phase. At least a bunch of architects and engineers are getting paid. Believe me, they’re not going to stop this gravy-train with any pain-in-the-ass reality-testing. Enjoy the video. They’re pretending… play-acting. No actual geographical site has been selected. But in so far as it will require 30,000 acres, the choices are pretty slim… mainly desert land so useless that it’s already massively unoccupied.

The backstage machinery behind this fantasy is the usual mash-up of innovative technologies  we’re endlessly hearing about, especially the alt-energy schemes which — sorry — just don’t pencil out, given the ominous state of the oil industry and other hard limits. Mr. Lore and his team clearly have no idea what kind of economy we are actually moving into as The Long Emergency (or Fourth Turning, if you prefer) gathers momentum. It is not going to resemble in the least the kind of computer-generated eye-candy scene depicted above — a society of exquisitely-tuned multicultural leisure. Rather it is going to be a hardscrabble existence somewhere between the The Grapes of Wrath and the Thirty Years War.

If Marc Lore really wants to kick off some equitism, I suggest he forget about this boondoggle and just give fifty-thousand-dollar gift envelopes to as many poor Americans as he can line up before his fortune runs out. At least he’ll give a bunch of people with low impulse-control a few weeks of happiness.

Thanks to Gregory Michaud for the nomination!

Oh that was painful to watch. The disassociation from reality is stunning. Amazing how Marc Lore, having to what most Americans would consider infinite money, sees this as a viable solution.

Does he pick the first 50k? What are the qualifications for entry. Can you leave once you sign up?

Funny how he looks a lot like my neighbor who started a non profit corporation to raise money for a homeless shelters with those popup 8×8 boxes. His brochure had all the fancy pictures like Telosa, but no details on how it would be managed, cleaned, paid for, policed, etc… I kindly declined to support his request for investment. He subsequently stopped talking to me. I guess you’re on their team, or you don’t exist.

Reality has left the minds of the wokesters, but reality still exists.

Looking at the perpetually-sealed curved glass windows in those palatial luxury apartments, and an entire population at leisure, the future looks bright, indeed.

    I can’t wait!

May we please see the billionaire’s accommodation please?

“. . . hardscrabble existence somewhere between the The Grapes of Wrath and the Thirty Years War.”

Laughing, I commented to my wife that Kunstler is a treasure. The black humor keeps me going. Also, re the Long Emergency: One can only hope; a purge would serve as a cleansing agent.

U.S. opportunist billionaires /vulture capitalists, tired of buying up hotels, condominiums, medical facilities, railroads, interstate highways, etc. are turning their fantasies toward building ‘equitable’ (of mind) cities.

Here, a ‘mindful’ cult city (pop. 50,000 … well, to start); where bulldozing 30,000 acres, of natural habitat (both above and below ground) while ‘borrowing’ tools, resources /materials, labor, equipment, and whatnot from the ‘outside world’ is wholly reasonable, if not expedient.

Interesting how this particular fool recognizes and admits that in the U.S. of A, governments, schools, medical industries, et al, are have literally been wrecked.

Also, notice the constant drones flying overhead. Assuming they’re controlled by ‘select’ humans, but with ‘equitability’ in close mind, just one question: Does everyone get to look at the video /intelligence these chosen goons gather? Idiotic, hypocritical f*cking morons.

Yes, but starting out with a “Clean Slate” sounds similar to Pol Pot starting out in Year 0. Mr. Pot had to kill a lot of people to get to Year 0

This seems to be more of a mind sore than an eyesore. The grounds and structures look pleasant enough and the buildings avoid that terrible techno tower look and the near total sterility of a lot of modern construction. No, this is not like the quaint Queen Anne or similar Victorian style, nor does it contain anything like the Beaux Arts or Art Deco style in its expression, but it does veer towards Art Nouveau with its somewhat curved exteriors.

The scene shown has an architecturally anodyne quality about it, maybe intentionally, so that all will view the place as inclusively safe and secure but hopefully not stultifying.

Are the curves hinting at the circle, with everyone included within its circumference and equally distant from the center on that circular boundary? But who will reside at the center, the masters of inclusion and diversity distributing equity all along this great wheel of wokeness?

These guys may be on a mission to create a ‘more equitable and sustainable future’, but the coming Die-Centennial will certainly put an end to that foolish notion and the rest of Eco-Woke. It’s interesting isn’t it, that my 2076 reference can also include the specious, self-serving, virtue signaling notions of diversity, inclusion, and equity, just another collision of fantasy with reality.

So, behold your fatuous future, citizens(?) of this necrotic nation of nations, behold the dangers of idiotic idealization instead of reality-based realization. Won’t it be wonderful to dwell in developments of diversity and islands of inclusion, to be elated in the edifices of equity? Far out, man!

For some reason I thought of Coleridge’s “Kubla Khan” and Xanadu, supposedly written after an opium influenced dream. You know, Marc Lore decrees a ‘stately pleasure dome’ of ‘Equitism’. In it, I find some relevance to the topic at hand, however distant or abstracted that relevance may be.

Surely there are 35,000 acres on Mars where this humdinger could be test-driven…

I have never watched anything with more ideological bullshit…. EVER..Well, almost ever. I have watched political conventions for 40 years and they are almost as ridiculous.
I wonder in Telosa, who will pick up the garbage? Who will clean the lobby after a Telosian gets shit faced and pisses on the floor of Hotel Telosa? Who will run the treatment plant to dispose of Telosa’s feces? or maybe Pelosians do not defecate. I wonder how Telosians will react when a colored man rapes a White woman? (or vice versa) Will there be police? Judges? Jails? Titty bars? Food shacks? Public toilets?
A glorious place envisioned by incredibly esoteric kumbaya assholes. Hysterical actually.

Tha said, can I apply for a 3 bedroom apartment there with a view of the park?

“The land will be owned by the Foundation”, ie Bill Gates.

Those curves (the façades, the balconies) require poured formed concrete, a very very energy intensive polluting tech.

You mean the stuff that’s full of rebar and spalls out in just a few decades? Yeah, that stuff.

This reminds me of nothing so much as the various 1930s “City of Tomorrow” air castle-fests. And those were being spun up even *after* the 1920s bubble had popped. We all know what came next.

The first requirement in joining this utopian community is a lobotomy.

JackStraw that video damn near lobotomized me

Looks like a Soviet Era apartment block airbrushed with some green Ivy and Kudzu. Or did they just airbrush some people onto the CGI from that “World Without People” thing they ran on cable showing how our cities would go back to nature if everyone vanished. The reality is if you can afford it, people like to live in something like The Brady Bunch House, not apartment blocks like Pripyat.

Have to wonder if those working on this pie-in-the-sky dream are refugees from the Twitter or Facebook staff reductions. There should be no criminals or crime, as only caring and sharing people will take up residence. But, expanding to 5 million, as a goal, might just bring in the criminal element. Apparently, no cars, which eliminates car jacking, so there is that. They are banking on changing human nature, which is never a good bet, and history proves that. Reminds me of the communities established in Kentucky with heavenly hopes, but reality doomed them as well.

    • BackRowHeckler March 9, 2023 at 9:36 pm #

Reminds one of ‘Itchy and Scratchy Land’, a utopian landscape … until things go wrong.

    • BackRowHeckler March 9, 2023 at 9:49 pm #

Haha just watched the video “Telosi is the city that loves you.” Lol I can just picture hordes hungry hardscrabble marauders — armed to the teeth — coming in off the desert & going thru Telosa like locusts thru a wheat field, picking it clean, taking anything of value, killing the men, and carting off the woman ahahahahaha ahahahaha.

So where will the ghetto be located within this grand city? They did promise to be inclusive, right?
