The moral panic of “the Resistance” is back in DefCon 1 mode overnight just as the righteousness orgasm of the Golden Globe Awards was wearing off. Mr. Trump’s casual question to a couple of Senators vis-à-vis immigration policy — “Why do we want all these people from ‘shithole countries’ coming here?” — pushed the “racism” button at Resistance Central and CNN staged yet another of the orchestrated anxiety attacks it has perfected over the past year.

The spotlight in this three-ring circus of perpetual offense, indignation, and alarm shifts back from the alleged sufferings of movie actresses to another intersectional victim group from the Dem/Prog pantheon of oppressed minorities: would-be immigrants-of-color. The President’s vulgar animus proves the charge that at least half the country is a lynch mob.

Of course, the most interesting feature of this neurotic zeitgeist is the displacement dynamic among the political Left as its frantic virtue-signaling attempts to distract everybody else in the room from its own dark and shameful emotions about the composition of American culture. As a born-and-bred Boomer (ex-)liberal from Manhattan’s Upper East Side, I can assure you from direct experience that this group has, at best, ambiguous feelings about the lower orders of mankind — my Gawd, did he actually say that? — and, at worst, a certain unmanageable contempt that stirs deep fears of moral failure.

Mr. Trump’s remark raises another interesting question that has not received much analysis amidst the latest panic: namely, how much of a “shithole” is our own country these days? I would avouch, contrary to the limp narrative of boom times, that the USA is visibly whirling around the drain in just about every way that matters. Except for the centers of financialization — New York, Washington, San Francisco — most of our cities are hollowed-out wrecks, and visitors to San Francisco will tell you that the place is literally a shithole, from the army of homeless people who, by definition, have no bathrooms.

Our ghastly suburbs, where so many formerly middle-class Americans are now marooned in debt, despair, and civic alienation, have no prospects for serving as a plausible living arrangement anymore, and were so badly built in the first place that their journey to ruin is destined to be an epically short leap that will amaze historians of the future roasting ‘possums around their campfires.

All of the important activities in this land have been converted into odious rackets, by which I mean nakedly dishonest money-grubbing scams, especially the two sectors that used to be characterized by first, doing no harm (medicine), and seeking the truth (education). But everything else we do is infected by engineered falsehood and mendacity, including the news media, the law, banking, government, retail commerce, you name it. We’re living in a culture of pervasive control fraud, in which authorities set up looting and asset-stripping operations without any restraint.

There are certainly waves and cycles in history, and one them involves a society’s capacity for self-understanding. Sometimes, a culture is sturdy enough to permit a high level of collective self-awareness. And sometimes a culture is too flimsy or exhausted or sick to achieve even low levels of self-awareness. We are at a low point in the cycle, sunk in grievance fantasies and narcissism. The end result is we don’t know what we’re doing or why we’re doing it.

The immigration quandary remains, with its vexing questions. What if there isn’t enough of an American common culture left for anybody to assimilate into? Are we obliged to admit everyone in the world who wants to leave their own country? Do we care about how people get here, or how they behave once they are here? Does anything go, and nothing matter?

Yeah…. the media’a reaction to Trump reminds me of the cartoon Duck Tales featuring a rich woman dressed in fancy clothing hollaring “I never!” and then fainting when the main characters do something interesting.

Well, well, well turns out the shithouse outing was none other then the well know lying Dick Durbin (D) who once called our troops Nazi’s. He may have exaggerated the phase “Shithouse” but goes to say he has other politicians wondering what kind of can if worms did he open. Jim put it well pointing out America’s own shitholes as our national attention diverted to as I’ve seen many postings of pictures of ghettoized Detroit. To drive a stake through the democrats soul news broke Friday of Chrysler bringing a plant back to Michigan with 2,500 jobs and $2,000 bonus hand outs The clip of Obama circulating of him in June of 2017 saying how is Donald bringing jobs back does he have a magic wand? Lordy the democrats clips of their own words will sink them in 2018 and bleed more sets

      • ffkling January 14, 2018 at 11:23 am #

Thanks, trolley, for galvanizing me to go beyond just voting for our Senator Durbin. Tomorrow, my wife and I will volunteer for Dick’s 2020 re-election campaign. Keep up the good work.

      • ffkling January 14, 2018 at 11:30 am #

By the way, trolley, what party saved the US auto industry from bankruptcy in 2009? Any guesses? If the Republicons had their way, those jobs you celebrate would be nothing more than a wet dream since the Republicons worked feverishly to deny the auto industry the loans that Obama approved. And, yes, the loans have all been paid back in full with interest.

        Try again.

        • Majella January 14, 2018 at 4:03 pm #

…and our good friend Mitt Romney profited OBSCENELY from that bail-out, and still shipped thousands of of jobs to Mexico.

        • cbeard January 15, 2018 at 5:50 am #

Smoke, mirrors and lies. concerning the auto industry loans. The loans will never be paid back. Its immaterial anyway. It makes no matter at all. They should have been left to sink or swim. As for Durbin, I think JHK’s current article makes very good points such as the “engineered falsehood” and “orchestrated anxiety attack” statements.

          • ffkling January 15, 2018 at 12:05 pm #

News flash, Beard……..the loans have been paid in full with interest.

Are you dense? I stated this previously.

Armadillo roadkill comes highly recommended down south as well. Lobster of the highways!

      • cbeard January 15, 2018 at 6:05 am #

A possum is a harmless creature that is beneficial to have around. Unlike an armadillo that is a carrier of filth and disease, including plague. A possum though sometimes a scavenger is not a threat to anyone or anything. Excepting the bugs and grubs they might consume. I had one as a pet for a while many years ago. As far as the culinary worthiness of possum, I have never tried it. Some say it is tasty. Armadillos are just another foreign invader that causes more problems.

During a drive last night to a downward-bound strip mall to have dinner at a surprisingly decent BBQ chain (there being no local shops save for a nail place and old-school barber shop), I looked around at the garish and tacky version of capitalism the strip presented. The stretch of road was once the stomping ground of the local elite, when it had nicer shops. 20 years later, it is half boarded-up and what remains, except that barber shop, is really provisional. It was always ugly, like America’s vision of prosperity at any cost. Now it really looks the part.

In another 20, shithole. JHK nails it nationally, though I think we’ll end up an even more tattered version of bankrupt 1950s England, instead of roasting critters over a fire in the shell of a Barnes & Noble. Maybe someone will still be cutting hair there.

It will still be a shitty time of constraint, squalor, and violence: more Soylent Green than World Made By Hand. I don’t buy into the new civil war narrative, but sections of the country probably will do better to act more like sovereign states after the Federal Government goes bankrupt.

But you can still get a good haircut and probably always will.

You want a real shock to open your eyes to how bad the built environment in America is? Visit a western European country like France. There, the cities, towns, villages and countryside are beautiful, clean and to a human scale. It is obvious that they care about the environment people live, work and play in. There, planning and regulations on development for the good of the citizenry are not a dirty words and “developers” can’t just throw up whatever the hell they want for maximum personal return, society be damned. Returning to North America after that experience leaves one depressed for what an ungodly ugly mess our developments look and feel like. But don’t listen to me – The Economist magazine just named France “country of the year” for 2017.

I’m now waiting for one certain blogger here to counter that France and Europe are lost causes, dangerous day and night, taken over by extremist Muslim hordes. I call a pre-emptive “bullshit” to that.

      • DrGonzo January 12, 2018 at 3:01 pm #

Great observations, Islander. I might add that well-heeled US vacationers will spend big bucks to experience the attractive and human-scaled charm of the places you describe — but heaven forbid their local zoning board mandate changes at home that would allow for similar community-minded, pedestrian-friendly development! Development that raises the human spirit rather than plunges us into suburban sprawl despair.

Such changes might make it too hard to find convenient parking during Xmas shopping season! Not for us!

      • elysianfield January 12, 2018 at 6:43 pm #

        Islander,
Well, I was going to say something snarky about Jerry Lewis, but…I’ve been pre-empted….

      • Ungaro January 13, 2018 at 1:52 am #

The scale is neither binary (bad, lost) nor one-dimensional. There are many things that work well in the US (innovation, positive outlook, willingness to work hard, business and commerce) and things that work well in Europe (education, mass transit, architecture, fashion, roads and bridges and selectively, healthcare).

Quality of life, for the most part, is subjective.

      • Mountain gal January 13, 2018 at 2:31 pm #

        @ islander800

I’d agree that Europe is physically well built to be sure. Their mass transit is a marvel. Their cities are walkable and easy to get around in. They still have lots of small stores to purchase produce, bread, fish etc.and people shop often. The markets on the streets are wonderful and some areas have markets nearly every day of the week.

Farmland tends to be neat and well kept; no piles of ripped plastic, old tires and rusting equipment to be seen. They don’t have much in the way of sprawl; it’s pretty clear where cities begin and end. Villages are villages and mostly the rural homes are farms. Food tends to be good and affordable.

That said there are a lot of “social problems” especially in France. It feels very uneasy. Security is pretty heavy in outdoor public places, train stations etc. but it feels pretty hopeless given how much the public tends to congregate in squares, outside restaurants and cafes, etc. And some places in France really feel no different than in the ME except for the use of French on some signs. And obviously it’s a lot more difficult for the Jewish community there which is being regularly victimized. Also, I’d have to say that the French don’t seem really happy to me. They seem rather down and depressed; note that they scored #31 in the “Happiness” scores for countries.

While I never cared for the self-obsessive middle-class minuet of his other novels, I recall with astonishment TOWARD THE END OF TIME, John Updike’s last, in which he seems to get an amazingly prescient handle on the near future: slow collapse / warlordism / lethal drones / inward-looking communities after the federal government becomes a faint shadow of itself / spasm war with China & no winners… quite a good read.

      https://www.amazon.com/Toward-End-Time-John-Updike/dp/0449000419

      • Sean Coleman January 12, 2018 at 4:58 pm #

I can well believe it. I had forgotten about Updike. I only read one of his books, Marry Me, and that in translation, and it was worthy but dull until very near the end. There, as I recall, he seemed to tear into something dark and disturbing. I’ll have to take another look.

    • Newton Finn January 14, 2018 at 6:26 pm #

The social commentary on this blog is often on the money. But the economic commentary is usually 180 degrees wrong. There is no way that the U.S.can EVER go bankrupt. Full employment at decent wages doing meaningful work (including crucial environmental protection and remediation) is within our grasp, but only if we free our minds from decades of relentless neoliberal propaganda.

Yes Jim, anything goes and nothing matters. Not to the general public at least. I live and govern in one of those decaying American suburbs, amongst those who are still walking away from their McMansions in large numbers and those in even “modest” homes are falling further and further deeper into debt. Heck, I even know one former Goldman Sachs hedge fund manager that is unemployed and paying his mortgage with his home equity loan. Hey if it works for Goldman why not for him? Schoolteacher couples making $150k a year struggling to make minimum payments on their $35K in credit card debt, yet still making a trip to Michigan this month for a child’s sporting event. I am just about to the point where I will start bashing my head against a wall, or better yet a nice Red oak tree trunk, until I either figure out what is wrong with me or the thinking stops altogether. I do not think my Committee is going to give me the $800k we need to pay down our debt in 2018 and I believe they are going to want to take out even more notes or even a hard bond while the interest rates are still “affordable”. It’s a Dream World Jim and I am one of the very few that just can’t seem to get to sleep. Damn it!

      @Walter
“Schoolteacher couples making $150k a year struggling to make minimum payments on their $35K in credit card debt, yet still making a trip to Michigan this month for a child’s sporting event. ”

Life getting tough for the Short Hills set eh?
In a small corner of SE Michigan, which I have taken to calling ‘the valley of the unconcerned”, there are few such obvious problems. Oh, they are there, just not on the surface. Real estate is booming, property taxes are high, private schools are filled, and don’t cha know that it just won’t quit; until it does, of course.
Because of the unprecedented run-up of the stock market, there are an amazing amount of new Cayennes, Bentleys, and other ungodly expensive autos tooling around , even in the middle of a weekday. Used to be that Cadillacs and Lincolns were the only acceptable way to signal, via automobile, that one was worthy of certain sectors of residence, and employment; especially if ones employer was one of the “Big Three”. I guess that even that cultural pretense has gone, and has been replaced by an in-your-face “I got it, you don’t, and it’s probably all your fault” mentality.
Soon enough, we’ll probably start seeing who had the sense to pay cash, and who financed.

It really has me scratching my head in amazement, how seemingly limitless credit and endless spending have managed to last so long. Just yesterday I was talking to another Committeeman, the one we appointed to act as Mayor, and from the sound of it, he is ready to get us deeper into debt this year because rates are only going up. Of course he did not have to purchase his $700K McMansion because his Mommy did for him and he does not have to work because she pays him an allowance out of the profits they realized when they sold their scrap business in the city. I think that a big problem here is that when people like this get into public office, and there seems to be a lot of these, they have ZERO sense of the reality that the rest of the population has to survive in. The most dangerous problem with a ruling class of “professional” politicians if you ask me.

      • Janos Skorenzy January 12, 2018 at 1:57 pm #

But we need more no skill low IQ minorities from abroad. We don’t have enough here. There can never be enough! Right? Detroit is still too White, right?

It’s funny how the Liberals (Communists) are going to ignore that aspect of today’s article.

        • DrGonzo January 12, 2018 at 6:52 pm #

Well, Janos, your racism, while thoroughly unattractive, is at least consistent and predictable.

        • Walter B January 12, 2018 at 11:43 pm #

Well what the corporate masters want is dirt cheap labor for their lawn maintenance and janitorial services. The politicians want easily manipulated (stupid) voters (welfare recipients) to stay in office. Those pushing the New World Order want violent primitives to keep the working class (victims) looking over their shoulders . It does not take an advanced degree to see that opposing such poor practices is not racist, hell it is not even close. It is simply prudent to not import welfare recipients or violent idiots into a peaceful nation unless the intent is to screw up the works. The unskilled low end laborers may be one thing, but from what I and corporate America have acknowledged as well is that the US Public School system and even much of the “higher” education entities are more than capable of filling those low end jobs with unskilled workers as well.

      nice Red oak tree
      =============
Here in Iowa, we have mostly bur oaks and white oaks. The bur oaks have very thick bark which resisted prairie fires, back before European settlement. They are found in the more open areas that were once prairie.

in the closed-canopy forests, that did not have fires, the more thin-barked white oaks are interspersed with hickory in what we call an oak-hickory forest. These forests are found on land more hilly than the prairies, and often near rivers.

White oaks have glorious fall colors of orange or red. Bur oaks have a bland tan fall color.

No one ever talks about Iowa. Thank you. I didn’t know it was forested once. Any hills? Or is it flat as a pancake? I love hills and forests. Much of Pennsylvania is a very heaven. I was going to make a pilgrimage to Hershey since I love chocolate, but I found out that’s it’s more than half Black. What’s the point?

        • sprawlcapital January 12, 2018 at 3:26 pm #

          Janos,

Iowa was maybe 20% forested, pre-European settlement; the rest was open prairie, with the widely scattered, fire-resistant bur oaks I mentioned. The closed-canopy forests were mostly confined to the river valleys, such as the Des Moines River and Iowa River valleys,

The terrain varies a lot, with some areas pool-table flat and many other regions with low hills. The northeast corner of the state, around the charming town of Decorah, is called “Little Switzerland”, due to its rough terrain. However, the cliffs and hills there are nothing like the Aps.

Aldo Leopold, the great conservationist, of German heritage, was born in Iowa. He put forth what he called the Land Ethic, in his famous book A Sand County Almanac.

We are in need of application of the Land Ethic here in Iowa, as we see this incredibly rich, beautiful land bulldozed away to accommodate population growth and so-called “development”.

          Chocolate in Pennsylvania tip–

You don’t want Hershey. The best chocolate in Pennsylvania is found in Lititz PA about 10 miles north of Hershey–
Plan on visiting the factory store of the Wilbur Chocolate factory, right on Main street. They work 6 days a week (off Sundays of course!) and everything they make is sucked up by people who live within driving distance of the factory. You won’t be disappointed, and you may never eat a Hershey kiss again after you try their version.
Also, for people with kids, the town park a half block down the hill is Wonderful!

          • nobody January 12, 2018 at 10:43 pm #

Lititz is actually southeast of Hershey — in Lancaster County, which explains why it’s closed on Sundays. There is also a Wilbur’s outlet on 322 near Ephrata (Ephrata Cloister, another clue to the mindset of Lancaster County). I think Lancaster County would do well in a world made by hand — some aspects of it, anyhow.

American chocolate (well, Hershey’s for sure!) is overly sweet…(puke-inducing crud, like most of Janos’s comments).

Have to agree with you there, Majella. We have our share of poor-quality chocolate too, but the sugar content in Hershey’s is something else. It’s basically just candy – to call it chocolate requires wishful thinking.

Thankfully we don’t have Janos on this side of the Pond, though 🙂

    • TPTB-USA January 12, 2018 at 5:26 pm #

Jim, you make some good arguments, and your perspective is always appreciated.

Walter B, What if the “forest through the trees” big picture is that the economy is nothing more than a game, and either (i) you play the game to the best of your ability (providing you are even given the opportunity), or (ii) you loose by default?

And, what if we are at the end of the game, where there are 5 players left, and 95 players washed-out and waiting in the bleachers for the game to finish, and when the game does finish, then what?

So, TPTB are faced with a dilemma: Do we change the rules and hope that we can extend the game, or do we prepare for the carnage?

Those of us in developed countries have to admit that the game wasn’t too bad while it lasted. But there are a whole lot of people in the world who have suffered immensely by having been dealt a bad hand, or not being dealt any hand at all. Hence, it looks like the answers/options are all bad.

I think your problem is that you are thinking rationally and trying to act in a prudent manner, when the object is to “game the system”.

          The Game-
… from a senior Bush aid: “We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality – judiciously, as you will – we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.”

One of the consequences of the game, is that society, by condition, becomes amoral.

Seems that Capitalism is an attempt to provide freedom for all, but due to its inherent flaws, evolves to some form of Socialism in an attempt to equalize the disparity.

Then, after suffering under the oppression of Socialism for an extended period, citizens yearn for some form of Capitalism in the hope of regaining their freedom.

Is there any ideal system (game)?

Are there any good “reset” options?

  6. Mountain gal January 12, 2018 at 10:04 am #

Wow; no end to the “moral outrage”. The thing is, it wasn’t the most tactful way to put it for sure, but perhaps part of the reason that the MSM, liberals etc are so worked up(beyond of course that Trump said it) is that there is of course more than a kernel of truth to the statement. Haiti is a poster child for disaster. Nigeria is mostly thought of in terms of Boko Haram and other thugs, those spam emails sent by “Nigerian Princesses” etc. So probably labeling them “shitholes” is quite accurate although not PC for sure. They got to label him a racist as both are black countries. Too bad he didn’t diss the Ukraine or someplace “whiter” I suppose.

I think that mostly the issue is that Trump says what he thinks and he doesn’t worry too much about what others will think about it. That’s not how a politician is “supposed” to behave. The MSM is way more comfortable with the likes of Hillary who says what she thinks you want to hear and her “views” change by the hour.

But I personally think the MSM and the liberals doth protest far too much He touched a nerve or something. The testimonials of how wonderful people’s next door neighbor or co-worker from Haiti or Nigeria is on the NYT website is positively nauseating. Of course there are wonderful people in these countries who are well educated and would make great US citizens but that doesn’t mean we just open the gates and allow anyone to enter at will.

And the thing is we haven’t been doing a good job of figuring out a sane immigration policy. For the most part countries such as Canad, New Zealand, Australia etc. are pretty clear about who they want to let in; someone they perceive will be a net gain and not a drain on their country.. What’s wrong with that? It’s pretty clear if you look at what’s happening in Europe now that just letting in thousands of migrants because they show up at your border isn’t the best of ideas.

    • Walter B January 12, 2018 at 10:14 am #

And isn’t it funny that Haiti was the particular shithole in question? Whether President Trump said it or not does not really matter for a shithole it is and was pretty much always. Yes John Foster and Allen Dulles did contribute extensively to the squalor but how about Hillary Clinton and the screwing she did to those poor unfortunates after the earthquake? Yeah, I know, most of those who protested and filed lawsuits to try to get the cash that she stole from them have either committed suicide or died young, but still, Her Ladyship (Shelob Clinton) hosed the entire nation without consequence. Are they really going to argue that kind words are better than cold cash? I think not. They will simply STFU because in the end, anything goes, and nothing really matters.

      • Ol' Scratch January 12, 2018 at 10:47 am #

The act of converting a country (Libya, Iraq, Syria) into a shithole is an act of national building, spreading the virtues of democracy throughout the world. That, in short, is noble.

Calling a place a shithole, well, that’s just beyond the pale. That’s downright racist.

        • bhnj13 January 13, 2018 at 11:46 pm #

Lol excellent point. I believe Trump’s words were something like “Why do we take people from these shithole countries?” Which is a crude way of asking a valid question. Did anybody in that seemingly crowded room answer the question? Or did a combination of holding in laughter, actual embarrassment and offense and fake offense “well I never…” responses change the subject? And yes as previously said look at Europe if you want to know what unchecked immigration from “shithole countries” looks like. Not pretty and it will only get uglier over there in time.

Hey MountainGal, Western European nations are not allowing thousands of rape-u-gees and migrants into their countries.

They are coming in the MILLIONS to overwhelm and smother-to-eliminate the formerly Christian Western civilization.

Angela Merkel working hard to get her coalition government together so she may continue to destroy The Fatherland and the rest of the E.U. vassal states.

Trump needs to have Congress repeal the Hart -Cellar Act of 1965.
Stop all immigration to the U.S.A. with a 40 year moratorium.

Let’s just see how the A.I., A.G.I. and Robotics Revolution shakes out before we let in another 100 million or more hungry mouths from non-compatible civilizations and religions.

      • Mountain gal January 12, 2018 at 10:41 am #

Yes, of course. You are correct; It is millions. I’ve been spending time in Europe and the impacts are being felt. But that’s the thing; if you protest that you don’t want people coming in who are from “non-compatible civilizations and religions” or who don’t have skills or education then you are labeled a racist or Islamaphobe or something. It’s no-win.

It’s tiresome to keep saying it but the fundamental problem is simply far far too many people on the planet. This hugely exacerbates all of the global dilemmas, climate change, wars, immigration, etc. Can’t be mentioned though it’s now racist, exclusionary and in bad taste. We are well beyond earth’s carrying capacity and growing, the bill is coming due with exponentially increasing velocity and we fuss and fret about nonsense. If the US among others had spent an infinitesimal fraction on carpet bombing with contraceptives rather than our endless foreign wars, oh well we are about to find out the impossibility of sustained ignorance.

          • bhnj13 January 13, 2018 at 11:56 pm #

We are very overdue for a massive population check of some kind. My money’s on the next global pandemic but will it come before or after we go to world war 3 over dwindling fresh water supplies… throw in the known and unknown variables of climate change and we will get our population check one way or another in the coming decades.

          • cbeard January 15, 2018 at 10:54 am #

It gets tiresome to me also but it needs to be repeated until it sinks in. If ever. Overpopulation should be easy for even fools to understand.

The moratorium you speak of is something I’ve advocated for a long time. But I fear it will never happen and it may be too late anyway.

    • outsider January 12, 2018 at 10:38 am #

      Mountain gal,

A sane immigration policy would be to scrap the disastrous Kennedy-led Immigration Act of 1965, and go back to the status quo ante. Outside of the moral outrage of bringing in black Africans to be slaves, this country has always had an immigration policy that favored Europeans. Now whites are in disrepute, and the younger generations have no idea how different the country is from just 50 years ago. But it is too late to go beck to those better days when we were a mostly white country. We are doomed, I think, to follow in the footsteps of Germany and Sweden.

    • Paulo January 12, 2018 at 10:49 am #

yes Mountain Gal, Canada does have a “Merit-Based” immigration system with an actual “get in line” process. However….. You forgot to mention the vast amount of refugees we admit per capita, compared to other western countries. In the last Syrian wave it was 10X the US rate, and far beyond what England or France admitted. US admitted 10,000 Syrian refugees under Obama, we admitted 50,000. For the rate to achieve parity the USA would have had to admit 500,000 Syrian refugees.

As to the Canadian merit based system, it isn’t about colour or college degrees. For example, I have a white immigrant friend who is from England. He has a masters degree, sociology I believe. He applied for years to get into Canada and was always turned down until our trades shortage was no longer easy to ignore. He was admitted on the strength of being an auto- mechanic. He worked for a few years in a Toyota dealership in our nearby town, (1 hour drive away). He now operates his own shop in our rural valley and charges a rate about 50% of what a Dealership would charge. He is beyond appreciated here and is rewarded with constant work and support. Locals are helping him build his new shop.

Yes, the white libs are also famous for their racism….in a whispering and exclusion kind of way. Why don’t you guys just admit that the USA was built on slavery and is racist to its core? Even the pendelum swing exhibited by ANTIFA, whatever, is racist.

Helter Skelter and Charlie Manson. Donald and the Base. Websites like The Burning Platform, Zero Hedge, etc are racist beyond belief. The US is just a coarse exclusionary society, despite the meme of the melting pot and the Statue of Liberty inscription. Doesn’t anyone remember Polack jokes, no rent signs for the Irish, and those dirty Wops?

If a country isn’t a shithole, then just why would anyone emigrate and move to the US in the first place? (A shithole in its own right, as JHK so aptly points out). Sure as shit not too many Norwegians will be applying any time soon.

I think it is high time for Jim Kunstler and Mountain Gal to travel to Canada, specifically, Toronto.

There are roads that are effectively 6 lane freeways, in the middle of absolutely nowhere, surrounded by KFCs, Walmarts and McDonalds, in which 7 bedroom McMansions have been built — scores of them costing hundreds of thousands – RIGHT ON THE FREEWAY.

        Now that is a shithole.

“Vienna, surrounded by Phoenix.” Toronto still has an excellent urban core (the Vienna part).

But to those who think Canada is some kind of high-minded example to the world (this list contains not a few Canadians), never forget that it was the Phoenix part of Toronto that birthed Rob Ford — John the Baptist to Trump’s Jesus.

re: Toronto. Have to confess that although I’ve been there a number of times I have yet to see the scene you describe. Perhaps it’s located in the suburbs; Toronto has been growing a lot lately. My time in Toronto has all been spent inside the city which is a fine city I’d say. As is Montreal, Quebec City and the Eastern Townships, which are really small towns with nice little downtown cores.

But yes, I do know that they have sprawl now with shopping malls, fast-food and all the rest although blessedly their cities still seem to be fine.

The poorest most violent places are always Black. They are a lower race. Sure it’s sociological and political and whatever else you want – but only because it’s genetic first. Whites have nothing to do with it on that level. That’s how we found them. Obviously we should have left them to it. Instead now we project our virtues onto them and blame ourselves for their problems – as well as adopting many of their vices. When Is say we, I don’t mean you folks of course. Last night, I caught a glimpse of CNN’s own Chris Cuomo, in all of his indignant righteousness, using the term “shithole” freely and without reservation.

I thought he was going to start foaming at the mouth and have a seizure.

Xanax will not do for the LibProg’s triggered acute malady. Nothing short of being fully titrated on Thorazine will calm them enough from being a threat to selves and others.

On the other hand, the Deplorables, after receiving a mighty fine buzz from the reports of the profane description, will be off to basements and garages all over Flyover Country to get further jacked-up with some home-brewed Meth.

Opioids for everyone else- those who do not give a shit.

Your brief statement has many presumptions. What is social order? Does chaos exist in its absence? Socrates would have a field day with presumptions built on assumptions, and he knows nothing

        • shotho January 12, 2018 at 8:10 pm #

Disorder – you’ll know it when you see it and you won’t need a philosopher to tell you what it is.

    • Ol' Scratch January 12, 2018 at 10:45 am #

To answer your two questions: no and not enough to matter. I think we’ve long since passed the point of no return in our little experiment, as we’ve long since entered our virulent phase, infecting the whole world with our madness. If we were a animals we’d be put down and our corpses burned. At some point we have to admit that violent implosion, as bad as it will no doubt be, is the only viable option remaining.

All of Jim’s comment today were, as you said, “real questions,” but to the mythical “mainstream” of American society, he’s and we’re all just cranks and fools. And so it goes…

Whataboutism is the last refuge of hypocrite. JHK is incapable of seeing that the people he defends, by accusing others, are the people who caused the problems that are destroying us. He has become one of them.

Our decline began when Reagan made magical thinking and greed the basis of government and civil life. JHK is good at describing some of the symptoms of our terminal condition, but his analysis is superficial. When you blame everybody but yourself and your fellow travellers, you cannot get to the root of the matter.

    • shotho January 12, 2018 at 10:28 am #

Who is Kunstler defending? Seems to me that his criticism includes just about all of us. We all live in greed and fear and always will until we recognize a higher purpose for living which is not grounded in social, economic or political gain.

      • Elrond Hubbard January 12, 2018 at 12:25 pm #

A criticism that targets everyone, e.g. railing that everything is a swindle, is functionally useless no matter how true it is. I’ve been reading Kunstler for a number of years now, and he has ever more complaints, accompanied by ever fewer proposals, with each passing year.

These days, he’s at his best when he points out examples worthy of emulation, e.g. some of the guests on his podcast who are taking some kind of positive action. But largely all he’s good for any more is “Buy gold so you can preserve what you have, while you wait for the reset to play itself out”. For those whose experience of the reset is that they have nothing to preserve to begin with, he has nothing to offer — he’s a useless scold, much like the SJWs he criticizes. Except instead of scolding people over identity issues, JHK scolds people for not exhibiting old-fashioned virtues — virtues that the society has not rewarded for a long, long time. He scolds the proletarian for not being bourgeois.

The system we live in is about to be reset. Kunstler, for all his complaints, takes the system largely for granted; he only rails against the outcome. The reset is going to ruin a LOT of lives, and each one of those lives is one that still might not be ruined, if anyone can be bothered to take action about the system instead of resigning themselves to its consequences.

        • Walter B January 12, 2018 at 12:35 pm #

Are you really convinced that it will be reset EH? It is dragging on so pathetically for so long now, many seem to think that the degradation can go on forever. I find that possibility the scariest of all. What kind of a reset do you see happening?

          • Elrond Hubbard January 12, 2018 at 1:45 pm #

“Reset” can refer to various different things, all of which are on the horizon in one way or another. Most of them involve ongoing pretenses that, at some point, simply won’t be sustainable any longer.

            – The nihilistic fantasy of infinite, exponential growth without limit reaches physical/energetic exhaustion.
            – The collapse of ecosystems.
            – Melting of the polar ice caps, and other symptoms of global warming too obvious to be denied any longer, except by the truly demented.
            – The increased hollowing-out of society finally provokes a mass revolt, and the ruling class responds by dropping the pretense of consent of the governed.
            – Ongoing economic stagnation, without remedy.

Even the last one, which sounds like it could be more benign than the rest, has long been the springboard for every instance in the past from which fascism has launched itself:

            https://www.truthdig.com/articles/chris-hedges-and-robert-scheer-assess-the-merits-of-a-life-of-virtue-in-a-careerists-world/

We are so far out on the limb by now that something will give. It’s a mug’s game to try and predict which one of these will come first. The question in my mind is whether we can summon the wherewithal to make even the difference we can make — because I still think that difference matters.

          • Janos Skorenzy January 12, 2018 at 2:18 pm #

Yet you believe in infinite social capital and human flexibility. When I was a boy, I used to put red and black ants together to watch them fight. I grew out of it. But you all put the races together (even in the same prison cell) and never grow out of the glee of watching the mayhem it seems. No? You have some kind of higher goal in mind? Justify it – but first you must take into account the nature of the material you are building with, just like any engineer or architect does. Is it flexible enough to be so shaped? And once done, can it stand the strain? The answer is no and No. Samuel Huntington agreed with me btw. The suffering is just for nothing.

Some admit as much and say it all will work better once Whites are gone – as if “racism” (natural instinct) is only the province of Whites; as if Hispanics aren’t displacing Blacks in neighborhoods across the Southwest and beyond. Liberals hide such stories from the public and that seems to enable them to forget about them as well. Pretty good little trick – much like that of any small child who thinks they can’t be seen once they cover their eyes and can’t see.

          • Elrond Hubbard January 12, 2018 at 4:59 pm #

Echoing GreenAlba, I will remind you sternly, Janos, not to tell me what I believe.

I do not accept as a fact of life that racial, ethnic and other animosities are inevitable. Much less do I embrace them, in the manner of a goose-stepping shaved chimp. You may do as you like, and be damned to you.

          • Janos Skorenzy January 12, 2018 at 5:37 pm #

I didn’t. I asked. And of course your belief is utterly fatuous, but thank you for it. A Nation is One People. Immigrants must be close to the native stock or else they will never fit in. And taking over is not fitting in.

Was I wrong when I said rhetorically, You believe in infinite social capital and human flexibility? Can we talk here? Cuz if you do, you’re just a cornucopian. There are no infinite resources on this Island Earth!

It is interesting to read JHK’s earlier columns. Anyone who tried to analyze them would require a blog of his own, just to have enough room. I will list just a few words from JHK’s earlier work:

1996 – I understand the nature of a performance. An audience doesn’t hunger for the truth so much as for authenticity. They know the truth can be slippery. Their hopes and dreams are something else…I want to live in a nice town in a civilized country.

2007 – In the service of defending suburbia, the American public may turn to political maniacs, who will promise to make the country just like it was in 1997, before we started having all these problems.

Even the greatest convulsion in our national experience, the Civil War, was preceded by years of talk, if not action. But in 2005 we barely have enough talk about what is happening to add up to a public conversation. We’re too busy following Paris Hilton and Michael Jackson, or the NASCAR rankings, or the exploits of Donald Trump. We’re immersed in a national personality freak show soap opera, with a side order of sports 24-7.

Americans were once a brave and forward-looking people, willing to face the facts, willing to work hard, to acknowledge the common good and contribute to it, willing to make difficult choices. We’ve become a nation of overfed clowns and crybabies, afraid of the truth, indifferent to the common good, hardly even a common culture, selfish, belligerent, narcissistic whiners seeking every means possible to live outside a reality-based community.

These are the consequences of a value system that puts comfort, convenience, and leisure above all other considerations. These are not enough to hold a civilization together.

Which is exactly why we have come to refer to ourselves as consumers. That’s what we call ourselves on TV, in the newspapers, in the legislatures. Consumers. What a degrading label for people who used to be citizens.

An angry and grievance-filled public may turn to political maniacs to preserve their entitlements to the easy motoring utopia – even while reality negotiates things for us.

I maintain that we may see leaders far more dangerous in our future than George W. Bush.

      • Janos Skorenzy January 12, 2018 at 2:08 pm #

Exactly. Whom does the Grail serve? America is White or it is nothing. If you try to be all things to all people you’ll end up being nothing to anyone. Nations are particular by definition. Countries – or little empires – are diffuse with poor defined borders just like cancer cells.

Collectively the US is losing its sense of humour. I believe strongly that we need Dick Tuck back – he who famously unhitched Nixon’s train car while the old crook was trying to imitate Truman’s Whistle Stop campaign. Imagine the merry mix-ups if Tuck could get Trumps doo to flip over from an unkind burst of air. The we can see firsthand the ignorant pink brainpan of the Leader of the Free World.

Personally, I found a lot of humor in Oprah telling an audience full of perpetrators and enablers that they were all victims. The woman pictured licking Harvey Weinstein’s ear did however go on to tell us who the real villains are – some southern boys who raped a black woman in 1944. Yes it’s all about Jim Crow, race and identity politics. And all those rose odored Hollywood role models are ordained to enlighten us befuddled deplorables. – Laughing my ass off.

Yes, she’s a clown in full clown makeup and a fraud to boot. That anyone would vote for her is an indictment. Yet millions will – the same people who voted for Obama.

Some say that Alex Jones’ show is nothing but whacko conspiracies, while the irrepressible Lionel Nation (who does excellent daily videos) claims that Jones and his staff do more real research, and are more accurate than the MSM. After all the Oprah for potus nonsense, Jones’ guest Gavin Mcinnes said she would never run as she doesn’t wants her strange lesbian sexual history, some of it in cahoots with Harvey Weinstein, to become public.

          • Janos Skorenzy January 12, 2018 at 5:42 pm #

Oh I didn’t know about her Lesbianism. Do tell! I never met a conspiracy I didn’t like, nay love! Yet in spite of that, I am among the most discerning and careful of men. As Maslow said, a higher functioning personality can reconcile qualities that seem irreconcilable to lesser men.

The official onus against the exclamation mark is a sign of profound social decay and corrupt elitism.

    Trump sez:
““Why do we want all these people from ‘shithole countries’ coming here?”

Although the eloquence is lacking here, I haven’t read anything about an answer to the question by anyone. The issue is being clouded by feigned outrage at common street language (see: The Coarsening of America by Hoodid Enrun). Hmm, no talk among the grand viziers about that importation of cheap labor thingy; now why would that be?

And, Jim, regarding the gradual shitholization of this country? Give it time; we’re getting there (as you’ve always pointed out). Even those slick “claddings” on most stuff from the 80’s onward are now beginning to fail into models of decrepitude — with few attempts at RE-cladding. I think the capital just isn’t there anymore as it has mostly been siphoned away (for perhaps a final time). Things could have been different, but in a “culture” of all scamming all… well…
Thank you Madison Ave. for defining our “values” for us! And, Ourselves for plunking on the couch, all fat and happy, and sponging the crap up.

We’re living in a culture of pervasive control fraud, in which authorities set up looting and asset-stripping operations without any restraint.

Welcome to late stage malignant capitalism. It was always destined to turn out this way. Were we somehow to magically put a band aid on it now, which we won’t, we’d be back in the same predicament all too soon enough. Unrestricted corporate “free market” capitalism is a winner take all philosophy, and as we can plainly see now, the winners are by god(!) taking it all! Might as well lament on why the sun doesn’t rise in the west and set in the east for all the good it will do.

Oh, great post by the way.

Perhaps shitholes can be categorised like crime: white collar and blue collar (and maybe add in ‘no-collar’ for good measure).

The two types of criminals were always treated differently (just as low-income welfare recipients were always treated differently from bankster welfare recipients (capitalism for the poor, socialism for the finance sector).

And maybe if the crime is big enough, you can call it a political or economic system anyway.

does the US even remain an attractive destination to the civilized, well bred, and educated?
Certainly the US attracts educated and civilized programmers and from a rather large shithole subcontinent to fill the Silicon Valley plantations, but a vast majority of immigrants are not products of a long civilized culture nor are they educated. They come from places where the indigenous culture was destroyed or replaced, where education is a luxury or non priority, where surviving is a daily priority.
A successful person from Denmark would find life in the US a step backward, for they see it, after the novelty fades, after the tourist high fades, to be nothing more than a shot hole in waiting

“To make the world work for 100% of humanity in the shortest possible time through spontaneous cooperation without ecological offense or the disadvantage of anyone.”
    – R. Buckminster Fuller, 1968.
……starts with one individual, one family, one neighborhood, one village, one community, one state, one nation, in spontaneous cooperation.
And deductive logic reveals establishing our Constitutional Republic allowing for the working for 100% of our Constitutional Citizens is required before accepting the ingress of unvetted refugees or exporting of funds to other nations, that are not working for 100% of their citizens.

Illinois Senator Dick Durbin, enjoys expressing outrage at the term “shithole”, while at the very same time competent residents are fleeing from his corrupt, bankrupt, “shithole” state, and enjoying life in the New Republic.

But far too many are too far gone to realize that Trump is right. Durbin should be on his knees apologizing to the millions of voters he has betrayed. Bro Jobe commented that he did not believe a civil war will erupt. JHK’s comment about a lack of a common culture may be a reason I agree. The Civil War erupted because the constant debate over the role of slaves in the US finally broke down and the two opposing groups duked it out until one side obliterated the other. Two groups in opposition. There are not two groups in the US today to unify a civil war. The Trump comedy show triggers a whole bunch of people when he becomes politically incorrect. Do I think any of the snowflake generation funded by the PTB would initiate a civil war and be willing to die for their cause. Ha! Fat chance. In the Long Emergency, JHK envisioned a breakup of the US as regional concerns start to predominate. California is a good example today. The Deep State centered in DC want no part of this and centered on Jeff Sessions is trying to beat down regionalism i.e. Marijuana laws, sanctuary cities and states, immigration and the new tax law’s effects on state income taxes. The Dems leading the charge against the Feds regionally are the same Dems trying to center everything at the national and yes global levels. This should be interesting!

    • Hands4u January 12, 2018 at 11:43 am #

The US has always moved in the direction of Regionalism due to economics, cultural, political, immigration and even climatological variances. DC is considered a (supposed) neutral physical space where representation of all participating states can(supposedly) work together as a unified economic and political entity. Unfortunately it taints those who occupy it with the desire for absolute power/control.

If the national narrative wasn’t focused on the 50-60 new genders, and the “hey-I-got-one!” offenses against actresses, Americans would have to talk about how the US is murdering non-white citizens in foreign countries in order to steal their gold, oil, and human resources. The elites are very smart to keep this ignorant mass focused on the licentious so they can continue turning countries into shitholes, while stuffing their vaults with gold bars, jewels, and whatever else they like to handle at home. How many millions has the US murdered in its history? Starting with the genocide of true Americans (shit-for-brains USians call them Indians), and proceeding to South Americans, Germans, Japanese, MENA countries, and now targeting DPRK, Russia, China, and Iran. When the typical American can have coffee with his buddies and agree, “yeah, the US is the great satan”, then we will have gotten somewhere. But when citizens of “shit-hole” countries come here because it’s the only place where US bombs don’t drop, well, that’s sad. Sadder still is the fact that shit-for-brains USians couldn’t care less about the genocide of scores of millions of non-whites at the hands of its military. Makes this vet ashamed to have served this imperialist evil empire. I apologize to the world!

Conscience? How can I be responsible for something I have no control over? You confuse conscience with empathy. I have empathy for others, but again, in the reality you chose to dramatize, I have no control, and of this lack of control I am acutely aware.

Hmm. Good question. I’d like to hear someone put a number on that one. Then we can compare it to Solzhenitsyn’s estimate of how many Russians were killed in the gulags directly, or indirectly by communist policies (60 Million). And also compare it to the number killed by the British Empire in India, China, the Americas– Compared to these giants, Germany’s toll is hardly worth mentioning but lets include them anyway for their efficiency — 20 Million perhaps? Anyone care to estimate the death toll of the Roman Empire?

Isn’t the real problem here Empire? It must stop and soon it will stop. While IMHO the US Empire is probably no worse than others, it saddens me that we appear to have been no better.

The US and Europe have been strangling the world since the invention of the automobile to get petroleum with whatever force is necessary. England stated it in the Midde East, Dutch in SE Asia, etc. we will wring out the remaining oil with whatever it takes. Colonialism has been rampant since the New World was discovered in 1492 or so. Capitalism is an effective tool in getting the results for the dominant. Empathy is a wonderful trait but when it comes to giving up commodities like oil, it fades away. Let’s have a vote, how many folks are willing to give up their heated homes, plastic water bottles, pick-up trucks, food availability so a foreign country gets a bigger piece of the pie? The end of gasaholic America is coming near as it is, we will fight tooth and nail to protect what is left.

Indeed, in many if not most parts of the country and leaving aside for the moment financial ability to pay, how many people could give up their energy intensive lifestyle, even if they wanted to? Most of our current living arrangements have been constructed specifically to maximize the use of cheap energy, especially out here west of the Mississippi.

      • capt spaulding January 12, 2018 at 2:56 pm #

Over the course of my life, I have given up a lot of things simply because I was not willing to go into debt to satisfy my desires. Having done that, I’m not willing to give up what I have so some third world asshole can come over here and make the situation worse than it is. It’s bad enough that we (the people, remember us?) are getting raped by the powers that be, without letting the rest of the world to have easy access to this country. I understand their predicament, & feel bad for them, but not enough to be willing to see this country sink to the level of the third world countries. It’s no wonder that these people want to come here, their countries are already fucked, and they want a better life. I understand that, but I’m not willing to give what little I have in order to accommodate the rest of the world. My argument with people who want unlimited immigration is this: How many more people can you take in your house? One more? Two more? three more? At some point you will have to say no. For many people, the number is different, but what it comes down to is the fact that there comes a point where you have to say no, regardless.Nobody said that the word is fair, and if you think we can take the rest of the world in here, you are delusional. It’s nice to be able to feel wonderful because you are willing to let everybody in, but at some point, your children will suffer the consequences of your decision to do so. It won’t be pretty, but that’s the way it is. Fighting for your life has a way of focusing your thoughts, and it may not be pretty, but that’s the way it is. In this country, we still have the luxury of being able to consider these questions. Once the rest of the world is here, you will be reduced to trying to get enough for your family to eat for the day. Sorry, but somebody has to think of the reality of what’s going on, and like I said, it’s true, and not necessarily pleasant, but that’s the reality.

        • Ol' Scratch January 12, 2018 at 3:29 pm #

Well put and totally agree. That said, ending immigration altogether still won’t prevent the US’s descent into third world shithole status.

          Q. Ruling Request: What is your preferred spelling for shithole? I see the adopted spelling on the internets today is one word, but it still looks a little sketchy to me. Said individual in the White House certainly is having an effect on the discourse, though, isn’t he? Seriously, who ever thought the Word of the Day in the USA would be “shithole”, courtesy of the President of the United States?

I for one take no position on whether the countries he referred to are, in fact, cloacas and latrines. But no matter how false and artificial it so often seems, diplomatic language has never been seen as optional for POTUS before now. That’s because there are consequences when the leader of a society makes such characterizations — consequences that aren’t good for anybody.

Here’s an anecdote: Smith meets Jones on the street. Says Smith to Jones: “Jones! How are you, you worthless prick? And that filthy whore you married, how is she doing? The squalling brats, how are they? My goodness, it has been some while since I last visited the miserable hovel you piss and shit in. What are the odds of us meeting on a day like this?”

Now here are a few questions: Will Jones punch Smith in the face? Will Smith deserve it? Does it even make a difference whether what Smith says about Jones is true or not? Now, multiply all that by the value of advantageous trade relations, the need for cooperation from your neighbours on things like border security, and the existence in this world of such things as nuclear weapons, and you can see why Trump maybe should have kept a civil tongue in his head.

      • Ol' Scratch January 12, 2018 at 3:16 pm #

          @Janos,

Is it fair to ask why the Dominican Republic, with its large tourist industry, is doing so much better in all areas than the ‘shithole’ of Haiti, on the island of Hispaniola which they share? A quick review shows that the Dominican, a onetime Spanish colony, has a genetic make-up that is 52% European stock and 40% black. Through interbreeding it is now 73% multi-racial, 16% white, and 11% black. Haiti, OTOH, was a onetime French slave colony, and is 95% black and 5% mixed race or white.

Surely other factors are at play, but one would have to be a fool not to consider that race has a lot to do with the difference. Ironically, even the Dominicans won’t accept Haitian refugees into their part of the island. Are they being racist or just attempting to maintain their standard of living and their Spanish heritage? What would Janet think?

We can lay much of the blame for our immigration problem at the feet of the class that has been practicing the same rackets they inflict on us outside our borders. Only orders of magnitude worse. When US corporations pillage weak countries rich in resources and kill those who stand in the way, what would you expect those excluded from the wealth to do? Lay down and die?

Calling countries he thinks are substandard shitholes isn’t racist, just an opinion. There are good and bad areas most places

Alowing immigrants in based on ‘allowing the brightest and best’ seems like a fair scheme rewarding ‘effort’
… but that could be inadvertently racist as it strips the source country (if it is mostly of one ‘race’) of its talent

A lottery would be the safest option. Free of ‘ist’ issues

  26. Sean Coleman January 12, 2018 at 12:34 pm #

Discussing immigration is like a Victorian talking about reproduction. It isn’t respectable.

I have seen very little reporting on the subject in Ireland so it caught my eye when the Sunday Independent devoted a full page to it a year ago. Most of it was given to a story about a young Nigerian woman who came to County Clare as a four or five year old. She said that she remembered being very happy but that her family decided to move to Ireland after friends of theirs already here told them what a nice country it was to live in. She said she was happy at school except she felt so out of place when all children around her were white. Hopefully Irish people would become more diverse, or something or other. As you can see, it did not make any sense. If she was happy in Nigeria why did she come? What excuse did they make to get in? Why was the excuse believed? Why would they want to change the nature of the country that was so attractive to them in the first place?

The other article was by Eilís O’Hanlon, who reported that a survey showed (ha ha) that Irish people were becoming more tolerant. She also said that ‘more than one person in ten’ was born outside the country.

I wrote to them to state that according to OECD figures it was 17.6% and that the rate of recent (last five years) immigration was nearly three times the OECD average. O’Hanlon was not being untruthful in saying ‘more than one in ten’ but she could equally have written “more than one in a hundred”. And that is not including all the illegal immigrants and the ‘students’. They published the letter but left out the one in a hundred, the best bit.

Just think, one in four or five. I remember watching the Late Late Show twenty years ago with visiting black Birmingham (England) comedian talking about walking down O’Connell Street in Dublin and feeling strange because he couldn’t find another black face.

As an example of the dream-like state of our leaders (and media), Christopher Booker and Richard North, in their authoritative history of Britain and the EU The Great Deception, mention literally in passing how, on the enlargement of the EU at the turn of the millenium (sic), when other member states were all going to delay admission of the new eastern Europeans like the Poles, the British government followed the Irish lead (what on earth were they thinking of?) and decided to allow them in. It was estimated that 13,000 would arrive. I think over a million came.

Moving whole People around is an ancient tactic of Tyranny. The Romans did it. And of course the Soviets seeded huge numbers of Russians in Eastern European countries to weaken them. The modern system is more horrible than any since the Governments themselves do it for “moral reasons” like their country being too full of its own people!

A few years ago Ed West, son of respected Irish journalist Mary Kenny, wrote an excellent book about mass immigration, The Diversity Illusion. He demolishes (to my mind) the excuses advanced by its supporters, including the supposed economic benefits.

In England the idea has firmly taken root that they were always a mongrel race. However it seems that this is completely untrue and that mass immigration is a very recent phenomenon. One thing I remember in particular is his observation that a willingness to contribute to welfare springs from homogenous societies. He also says that a survey across different political parties showed that in a trendy restaurant the Green Party supporter would be the most concerned about the distance the food had travelled to the table whereas the British Nationalist Party voter would be more concerned about the distance the waiter had travelled.

On reading it a second time, in the last chapter, I came across the thing I was hoping to find and which I might have missed first time around. In the same way that the remedy of the EU for any problem is more Europe rather than less, so it is with mass immigration. He compares it with a millenial cult which, when the promised arrival of the aliens does not materialize, attracts more supporters, not fewer.

If you observe carefully those who support immigration are guided by their hearts rather than their heads. The decision is emotional and the arguments to back it up are simply to justify this deeply felt conviction. I see it all the time.

In other words, mass immigration is just another, extremely stupid (yes, I know. They are all stupid) element of the great progressive fantasy.

Liam Neeson has just been on the telly, using the word ‘witch-hunt’ in connection with the treatment of Garrison Keillor. I looked up Rose McGowan, who claims to have been raped, and I do not believe her. She was recently arrested (so I read) on drugs charges. Her upbringing was in Italy (where her father is reported by Wiki as having been the leader of the local branch of the Children of God – remember them?), she repudiated her (divorced) parents at 15 and launched intemperate attacks on fellow actresses. I also looked at the claims of another woman, Kadian Noble, also wholly unconvincing, who is reported as claiming against Harvey Weinster (and his brother) for sexual assault. The line-up is starting to resemble the motley crew who have gone after Cosby and his money.

Actresses like Rose McGowen, Ashley Judd, etc are washed up and can’t get parts anymore. So, they need to keep their names in the spotlight, and probably need a payday. Other than their accused harassers, Trump is their perfect vehicle. There’s that old saying, the only bad publicity is no publicity. And hell has no fury like a woman scorned. Hollywood is a cesspool full of scary, frustrated actresses whose careers are over by 35.

And old nearly blind Bill Cosby, who has done a lot of good work for blacks as well as the country, is going to be retried for a 25 year-old supposed rape, after the first trial ended in a hung jury. As a Pennsylvania taxpayer I am outraged. To use the words of Clarence Thomas, this is a high tech lynching of a black man. For Christ’s sake, leave the man alone to live his final years in peace. Women – where is your humanity?

Thanks for the information. I hadn’t kept up with the Cosby story. I knew that only one of the ‘allegators’ was at all credible, the first one (I think) and I assume it is her case you are referring to. And from what I have read about her story, the circumstances of the alleged crime and the time delay, I don’t believe it.

Look up the story of Mark Pearson, who was taken to court for a serious assault on an actress in her sixties at Waterloo Station. He was acquitted but had to go through the ordeal while the alleged victim benefits from life-long anonymity. She accused him of ‘penetrating’ her. Cctv shows him walking past her on a crowded concourse holding a bag in one hand and rolled-up newspaper in the other. He was close to her for half a second. She was wearing several layers of clothes.

          • Sean Coleman January 13, 2018 at 9:18 am #

The claim against Pearson is no crazier than most of those made against Jimmy Savile. One of them was from a woman in a hospital bed who looked out the window and saw Savile running along the side of the road, a hundred yards away or so (Savile raised millions for charity from marathons and other runs). He caught her eye and immediately turned off towards her, climbing in through the window and assaulting her. The police said that he had ‘groomed a nation’ and it is universally accepted that his ‘Power’ (Jimmy Savile?!!) explains how he committed all of his crimes In Plain Sight and under the very noses of a prurient press. You see, he had supernatural powers which enabled him to travel backwards and forwards in time and to pass through solid walls. In her atrocious, costly ‘Review’ of Savile and the BBC she repeats as believable the claim that he committed rape in is BBC dressing room while dressed as a Womble (it’s a bit like Barney the Dinosaur).

Finally, since I am here, I will repeat my understanding of Merkel’s motivation in admitting all those so-called refugees in September 2015. I watched it unfold on YouTube where the photograph of the drowned Kurdish child on a beach provoked a wave of emotion that became hysterical. Within three or four days of my first sight of the photo she acted. A Flemish Berlin correspondent, who had followed Merkel for years, was struck by how this was the first time she had seen make a decision that had not been planned, carefully and calculatedly, in advance. Her behaviour was ’emotional and not rational’.

It is usual for online commentators to argue that this was a crafty, hard-headed move to meet Germany’s shortfall in the work force. When I explain why this is nonsense they really don’t like it and refuse to accept it. It is a psychological thing. It is all psychological.

        • Sean Coleman January 12, 2018 at 6:45 pm #

The following weekend two prominent Irish newspapers, the Sunday Independent and the Irish Mail (Eoghan Harris and Matt Cooper respectively – I kept cuttings) published long opinion pieces supporting Merkel and the hasty decision of the Irish Govt (and President of course) to admit ‘our fair share’ with headlines which were uncannily similar: Sometimes The Heart Should Rule The Head.

A few weeks later, following a fire which wiped out a number of members of a Traveller family the local authority tried to force the residents of small estate (perhaps twenty houses) to accept the building of a ‘temporary’ halting site right next to them. The residents fought tooth and nail, knowing that they would suffer from crime and other problems if it was allowed, and were heavily criticized in the media. A number of female politicians lost their heads. You could see that ‘one-mile stare’ in their eyes as they championed the downtrodden Travellers. To my mind this was obviously a carry-over of the hysteria from the earlier refugee story.

          • Janos Skorenzy January 12, 2018 at 9:14 pm #

The Elite created hysteria complexes and then skillfully invoke it as needed. This is what has replaced Christianity – literally a new religion.

One mile stare? We have the thousand yard stare over here. If you look at old photos, many of the miners and cowboys had it – even some of the settler women. Great hardship creates it. Very dangerous people. The Indians never had a chance, thank God. We’ve gotten far too soft.

Ulster is the only place in Europe where the people are as hardened as the incomers. No doubt that’s changing now after the outbreak of “peace”.

          • outsider January 13, 2018 at 7:53 am #

Another thing to consider is that pols like Merkel and Edna May, as well as Macron in France, are all childless. Their genes stop with them. Mr. Trump, OTOH, has 5 children, and 8 grandchildren with more to come. Whom, I wonder, has the greatest stake in his country’s future?

        • Janos Skorenzy January 12, 2018 at 9:10 pm #

The dead child was carefully posed for full effect. I don’t accept it was spontaneous on Merkel’s part. Google Kalergi Plan. Baron Coudhoven-Kalergi was a half Japanese nobleman who decided Europe needed to cease to be White. Needless to say the Tribe was thrilled with this idea and backed in fully. A “Kalergi Prize” is given out every couple of years. Merkel is a winner I believe.

          • Sean Coleman January 13, 2018 at 9:02 am #

Janos, I think you might be illustrating my point. That is not to say that there is no deliberate manipulation, even conspiracy. Hitchens calls the latter ‘lunch’, as this is where the political correspondents in London get their titbits of gossip from ministers and insiders in return for pursuing a particular line. The way they turned on Gordon Brown, after first praising him to the skies, is a good example. Indeed, as I mentioned on the last thread, he, just like Trump, was the subject of a silly book of tittle tattle (written by the Oberver’s Andrew Rawnsley) giving the impression that his personality was unstable. ‘Lunch’ would be manipulation. For conspiracy Hitchens refers to secretive dining clubs where ministers and senior political corresondents would be in conclave.

In 2009 senior ‘New Labour’ aide, Andrew Neather, let the cat out of the bag when he revealed that they were encouraging mass immigration in order to ‘rub the Right’s nose in it’, fait accompli that would be impossible to reverse.

Nevertheless I maintain my argument. The events of September 2015 have only harmed Merkel and I bet she wishes she had never done it. But that is how hysteria works. It all happened so quickly.

It would not surprise me in the least if the photo had been used in a manipulative way. I’d be amazed if it hadn’t been. the child’s father was also an illegal migrant, I read afterwards (after the damage had been done). I wonder how many people still think that boats sinking in the Med are the work of ‘evil smugglers’ who, to increase their profits (or simply because they are Evil, cut back on the fuel and provide old, leaky vessels. Don’t they know that if the ship docked in Sicily it would be turned away and rescue from the water is the only way it works?

Swedish economist Tino Sanandaji, a Kurdish immigrant himself, makes another point. He asks an audience, why don’t even more immigrants come to Sweden? They canot afford an airline ticket? No. Eventually a hand goes up. They need to get a visa. Right answer! he replies. The cost of plane tickets isn’t the issue it is the visas, which have to be acquired in an underhand manner before arriving at Go and claiming your £200. Before the Schengen removal of internal EU borders it was hard for them to reach Sweden, but not now. It isn’t the poor dying in famine areas who are coming but the relatively well off. How often have we heard all of this explained on the MMS? Never, I would guess.

          • Janos Skorenzy January 13, 2018 at 2:02 pm #

But even more fundamental: the million or so military age men from “Syria” (a lie), were the best dressed, and most well fed refugees in history. Almost nobody cared to look, but it was a Soros operation. Nothing that big and requiring those kind of mass logistics can be hidden.

And some shipments of arms to these Jihadis have been intercepted. No doubt many more are getting through.

Financialization & Securitization is a product of Neoliberalism, and the Chicago School of Macroeconomics. This globalized Control Fraud was implemented by The Giant Vampire Squid, and was systematically destroyed when Bear Stearns was ‘murdered’ outright on March 10th 2008 around 11:00am New York shitty time. Lehman Brothers was assassinated shortly thereafter on September 15th 2008. These two corporations erroneously assumed that the global Control Fraud would not allow them to fail, or enter Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Their Quantitative Analysts collectively assumed that the Central Banks would consistently backstop any, and all, of the systemically Too-BIG-to-Fail Wall Street Investment Banks & Bank Holding Companies. The so-called ‘Quants’ built their ‘Alpha’ positions/bets off of a systematically corrupt worldwide global Ponzi scheme that was sanctioned by all the Business Schools, and University Departments of Economics across the entirety of the Western Empire of a Central Bank managed Global Control Fraud.
In brief, quantitative ‘alpha’ failed when the shifting sands of macroeconomics shifted off of the unstable substrate that the Quantitative Analysts erroneously thought was theoretically stable pre-08 Bear Stearns murder.

A decade later we find ourselves immersed in the complete destruction wrought by the myopia, and lack of informed long term perspective of quants, and Finance experts, the world over. Their pure unadulterated ignorance of Macroeconomics has been abundantly evidenced YoY since 08, and no matter what evidence is placed before them in terms of empiricism going forward will be reflexively ignored based on collective psychological denial.

Today, the only chance America has to survive is being wasted on the mass delusion that 08 was just a 100 year economic storm as Greenspan characterized it post-08 crash. Not only is Greenspan wrong, but his crony capitalist neoliberals are wrong too. Collectively, they have destroyed the entire Western Empire of dirt [see Johhny Cash-Empire of Dirt] before our very eyes, and now we collectively have no alternative but to rebuild & reset the entire Western Empire of Macroeconomics due to the combined mismanagement & ignorance of a discipline that has become undisciplined with respect to the orthodoxy of Empiricism, and Economic Theory going forward.

The only Economist that hypothesized this level of destruction over time in the historiography was Professor Emeritus Karl Marx. When American Economists can learn to accept what Marx taught us we might be able to envision the light at the end of the tunnel if we are imaginative & creative. If we lack the motivation to muster up the appropriate levels of creativity to extricate ourselves from this worldwide macroeconomic debacle that was started in the University of Chicago, with the Chicago School of Economics, we will end up like the Third World Banana Republic of the United States of America all throughout the entire Western Empire of dirt that most assuredly includes Europe & the European Union.

Great post. Over at NakCap, Nomi Prins echoes all of those sentiments:

      https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2018/01/nomi-prins-financial-road-map-2018.html

      …and a supporting video:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iif0vb2SFHc

      ++++++++++++++++
Central banks may tweak a few rates here and there, announce some tapering due to “economic growth”, or deflect attention to fiscal policy, but the entire financial and capital markets system rests on the strategies, co-dependencies and cheap money policies of central banks. The bond markets will feel the heat of any tightening shift or fears of one, while the stock market will continue to rush ahead on the reality of cheap money supply until debt problems tug at the equity markets and take them down.

Central bankers are well aware of this. They have no exit plan for their decade of collusion. But a weak hope that it’ll all work out. They have no dedicated agenda to remove themselves from their money supplier role, nor any desire to do so. Truth be told, they couldn’t map out an exit route from cheap money even if they wanted to.

The total books of global central banks (that hold the spoils of QE) have ballooned by $2 Trillion in assets (read: debt) over 2017. That brings the amount of global central banks holdings to more than $21.7 trillion in assets. And growing. Teasers about tapering have been released into the atmosphere, but numbers don’t lie.

That’s a hefty cushion for international speculation. Every bond a central bank buys or holds, gets a price-lift. Trillions of dollars of such buys have artificially lifted all bond prices, and stocks because of the secondary-lift effect and rapacious search for self-perpetuating returns. Financial bubbles pervade the world.
      ++++++++++++++

“Trump sez: “Why do we want all these people from ‘shithole countries’ coming here?” … I haven’t read anything about an answer to the question by anyone.”

That’s like asking why should you have children. You just did. Why then did you love your children? When you are a parent, you just do, it’s who you are. It is your nature.

America was founded by immigrants who came from shitholes from all over the world. That’s what American experiment is about. That is the nature of America.

In the 19th century Ireland was a shithole and a shitload of Irish came. Likewise, between 1880 and 1924 millions of Italians came, fleeing grinding rural poverty in Southern Italy and Sicily. America has always welcomed immigrants from 19th century shitholes like Ireland and Italy. As a result, America is changed for the better.

People from Haiti, El Salvador, and Africa are non-white, but their immigration here benefits America and will not be stopped. Our borders are and always have been and always will be porous. Building walls is a waste of resources.

The American ideal is and always has been acceptance of people fleeing shitholes. The rants of xenophobes cannot change that. Their unpatriotic bigoted slurs cannot change that. Their illegal immigration bans cannot change that. Their racist rallies cannot change the essential identity of America as a multicultural, multiethnic, nation. (not country, a nation) whose motto is E PLURIBUS UNUM.

    • It’s a sentiment born of another century. Another time, another place.

Today it’s a blatant and deceitful attempt to swell the population of North America…

To serve the interests creating an economy of “jobs Americans don’t want to do”.

To staff the ranks of toilet scrubbers, meat slicers, and auto mechanics.

To shame America’s resentful and rebellious classes angry at being discarded for a corporate takeover of political capital.

You, in your stupid pride, want more and more of the status quo.

The very last thing the world needs is more Americans, yet your credo is clearly in support of this effort.

These countries… Haiti, El Salvador… Are in fact shitholes. Let’s be honest about it, as honest about the shithole known as the United States.

An effective and intelligent foreign policy might have improved these places and prevented much misery. The shameful policy decisions of the older generations have to be considered here. Who patronizes the hotel chains with aforementioned Immigrant toilet scrubbers? Who services their SUVs? Who slices their daily meat?

Who wants more immigrants? Those shareholders and owners sitting at the Apex of a pyramid of coersion.

The most galling thing for me in your rhetoric is the total absence of regard for these countries of origin and what policies might be in the best self interest of the least regarded economic and political interests of it’s suffering classes.

That the United States runs a lottery- wasting and robbing people of their dignity, time, and capital to gamble on reckless hope- was a stunning Revelation to me. I had no idea how cruelly stupid our country’s foreign policy and immigration policy were until just a month ago.

But I have watched in extreme dismay the collapse of political economy in Mexico and elsewhere for decades now. The last thing the world needs is solipsistic national policies commodifying citizenship. The example of Mexico’s endemic political corruption and social chaos is more than enough proof that it self interest isn’t served by policies that result in waves of victims flooding across the border, empowering tyrants in their home countries

The only response to end the madness and chaos inflicted by the previous generations is a complete and total cessation of immigration and a total repulsion of illegal aliens on this country. Pushing the reset button is necessary. A total evisceration of the immigration economy is necessary. No more lotteries, no more citizenship awards for mercenary trips fighting in our wars for oil. We need a real, strong foreign policy that supports the political economy in these countries that really prevent the establishment of the deplorable conditions that created the misery these people seek relief from.

Immigration is a true evil evident in the numbers… The proportions of the vote leaving these Shithole States and the the proportion of the vote which continually prevents the establishment of productive and effective political relief.

In short, the status quo immigration policy only keeps the shitholes at that level of development. It allows the harvest of political capital at the expense of those Nations. And it profits only the existing corporate interests of the United States. Proponents of the status quo are in fact colluding with those interests, regardless of their stated sentimental motivations.

And let’s be real, sentimentality is the basic motivator of pro immigrant policy. The real beneficiaries are content to sit quietly in the background and have their self interests served while irrational and emotional forces sweep the public debate clean of nuance, arguments, and rational considerations.

In part sentimentality, in part reality. My grandmother emigrated to the US; worked and lived in a sewing shop owned by someone else(would close the shop at night and pull a curtain across the back area, for privacy, that had a sink for her to use to clean up and slept on the floor) the back door led out to the back yard and to the outhouse. She had no sponsor in the US. This went on for 2 years until she met her husband(the son of an immigrant). After he died she was only able to find work by building and tearing apart B-29 bombers for the war effort. She only came to this country because her homeland was having a famine… To make a long story short. We have sentimentality because it is a part of humanity. If it’s not part of your humanity, you always have the option of removing yourself, unless your own personal guilt would get in the way.

        • Hands4u January 12, 2018 at 4:34 pm #

And to add insult she had to give up her highly specialized job to someone else even though she was now considered a citizen; and seek work if she wanted to feed her family while competing with all the other GI’s who “won the war”.

A most informative rant, Lil Debbie. I’d just like to add that we need to remove “The New Colossus,” Emma Lazarus’ insipid poem, from the base of the Statue and throw it in the ocean. It was initially put on the back, where no one read it, until some do- gooders insisted that it be placed front and center. Belief in the ideas expressed therein has led to a disastrous immigration policy.

Its ideas may have had some merit when we were a quickly industrializing country in need of coal miners and steel workers, and Poles (like my grandfather) came here to work in the pits. But these people were whites who, after learning the language, could easily assimilate into a white country. Janet fails to recognize that times have changed and the migrants she champions are different, coming from Third World countries.

BTW, Janet, so typical of you Libs to call those you disagree with “xenophobes” and “unpatriotic bigots.” Just like Hillary and her Basket of Deplorables.

How the media responded may just be symptomatic of the larger collective insanity. I didn’t watch it to inoculate myself.

Maybe there is a disproportionate immigrants coming from severely disadvantaged countries, (see how easy that was Trump?), because the others – mainly white or brown – don’t want to come to the U.S.?

Has it yet cottoned on that the word is out, the American dream concept is only applicable to the lower quartile now? I can speak from experience. My wife is American, and sure we like to visit from time to time. But stay? Fah-gedd-abboout-it. (yes, she is also from parts of NYC).

WMMC? causes CEOs to coerce engineers and designers into making product changes that all too often make the product worse, not better. WMMC? is fully consistent with the mantra of fools that, “Change is good”, never mind that not every change is an improvement.

If your good friends asked you to join them on a beach trip to Haiti or a dining tour of Mogadishu, that evening when your spouse is stepping into bed and you are reaching for the bedside table lamp’s switch, one of you is bound to say to the other, “There is no way I’m going to that shit hole”
    Same for inner Baltimore
    And so on

The shit holes exist whether we wish to call them that or not.
And there are more and more of them
Pretending that these hells on earth do not exist is far more harmful.
Having traveled this planet far and wide, the sheer frequency of shit holes is staggering.
The destruction to peoples and places by peoples needing places.

    Rampant Immigration
    Refugees

    Why

    Shit holes

I believe Mr. Dickhead Durbin and his ilk will get a surprise in the mid term elections. I certainly hope so. Thats not to say the winners will do any better. There is a severe lack of quality candidates out there. America may yet be doomed to be one of the biggest shitholes of all. Again, Trump just said what a lot of Americans are thinking.

I write this as a participant in the latter of JHK’s “odious rackets”. With one eye on the phone app that counts down the number of days until retirement (168 days, 21 hours) I can with honesty and not a little horror state that the bulk of my 32 years as an “educator” have largely been a waste of time, and have amounted to little more than a taxpayer funded personal make-work program. The “students” that I have had in this, my last year, are quite simply the worst I have ever seen. Don’t get me wrong, as an “inner city educator” I have had kids like this before, But I have never had so many at the same time. As a “Vocational educator” I can count on the fingers of 2 hands the number of students that have actually achieved the industry certification that I have taught since 2000. That is an astoundingly bad track record. Am I a “bad teacher” in a “bad school”? I think not. The teachers that I have worked with the last 32 years have largely been sincere, hardworking people. Administration however, which were once focused on traditional academic rigor and behavior , have become increasingly delusional in the face of rising functional illiteracy and the lack of any normative standards of comportment. Their push this year was to (try) to have students engage in “Socratic seminars”! it’s hard to socratically ( whatever that means) discuss a topic if you can’t sit down and shut up for 2 minutes. In the end, The astounding lack of parental involvement in the children that they have produced, as well as the dark, zero-sum culture that they live in, have made me little more than a baby sitter for the permanent urban underclass.
I will enjoy my pension ( while it lasts) And be thankful that once upon a time I was a pretty good machinist, as it is likely that at some point before I go , I may need to be one again.

Good grief, that’s a grim tale indeed! From what I have seen, the situation you describe is paralleled in healthcare. The practitioners, e.g. the doctors and nurses, are generally OK. They try to do a good job and are at least earnest in doing their work. However, their work environment groans under the weight of legions of “administrators.” This should at least be vaguely familiar to us. From the Declaration of Independence regarding the King; “He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.”

Blacks need to be taught by other Blacks. Coed is obviously not going to work for them. Strict discipline, uniforms, etc. And of course the teachers being able to fight if they have to.

Integration? Of two Races so completely different in capacity and culture? What utter delusion. Millions of White kids have suffered the tortures of the damned because of these vicious Liberal Fools.

Yeah, when you read a lot of supposedly professional writers in main stream publications, from big city newspapers to small local papers and a lot of websites. You see the functional illiteracy on full display, with poor grammar, misspellings, things you have to read again trying to figure out what the hell they were trying to say. Education has gone to hell.

“got to get rid of that pesky 2nd so-called amendment“

The 2nd amendment’s well-armed militias are slave patrols to round up escaped slaves brought from AFRICA. We wanted Africans here.

Now they will continue coming here. That is reality. Saying E PLURIBUS UNUM is a “platitude” does not in one bit change the reality of immigration.

Immigration cannot be stopped: that is reality. The patriotic thing to do is to welcome immigrants and their problem-solving brains… as we always have. Look at our population density: much of the USA is practically empty. There is no stopping them. Nature abhors a vacuum

Ranking of Countries by Population Density

        USA 179th

There are 178 countries with a higher population density and probably fewer natural resources. We are empty and rich in natural resources. We can accept many more immigrants with no problem, especially since immigrants are net-positive long-term. Africans, especially, are entrepreneurs not freeloaders. See Minnesota.

Tell that to the 600,000 homeless U.S. Constitutional citizens and members of Democratic governed blighted inner cities.

Wisdom is understanding the depth of one’s ignorance.

Incoming refugees are praising California Governor Jerry Brown for his generosity in making California the first lawful sanctuary state in the old republic, effective January 1, 2018! And the refugees believe Jerry represents the consent of homeowners, and fully expect to be welcomed into private homes for loving care. Welcome to the Hotel California!

“…..as the federal government sends $768 million to the peninsula of Saudi Arabia for “humanitarian aid.”

Since Trump sees fit to cancel funding of social programmes abroad where even asking a question about abortion is a possibility (presumably even for a woman who may have 8 children already and whose husband insists on making the decisions as regards everyday contraception or lack of it), then I fail to see why he can’t insist that money sent to Saudi Arabia will only be sent when serious improvements are seen with regard to the equality of women and the provision of education about contraception.

Well it’s not true that I fail to see why really – no-one else fails to see why either. Or indeed why money is going to the Saudis in the first place.

Trump’s comment, in full, covers both sides of the spectrum, with the U.S. stuck squarely in the middle, and Trump is too hollow-minded to understand it. For those living in “shitholes” such as Haiti, El Salvador and other parts of Central America, and much of Africa, living in the U.S. would be a huge step forward. On the other hand, why in the hell would anyone from Norway – or any other Scandinavian country – want to come to the U.S.? What’s the upside? Are we any freer here in the U.S.? No. Is our healthcare system better? Hell no. Are our lifestyles better, our culture richer? No and no. As the so-called leader of the free world we have strutted around for the last 75 years trying to browbeat the rest of the world into thinking we’re the shining beacon on the hill, convinced that if we say it enough – “We’re the greatest country in the world” – it will somehow manifest itself into truth. The only thing it has manifested itself into is the doughy human form of one Donald J. Trump. The truth is we are a waning global power huffing its last noxious breath.

      @hines,

Have you read up on Sweden a little? From everything I’ve read, it’s now the rape capital of Europe, thanks to the wonders of diversity and self-destructive political correctness. As Norway is its neighbor, it probably isn’t far behind. Maybe many Swedes would prefer to come here now to get out of their own self-inflicted shithole.

      • hineshammer January 12, 2018 at 8:57 pm #

And therein lies a big problem with the internet. That is, to quote Trump, “Fake News”, started by Nigel Farage and bolstered by Fox News and the Swedes were pretty shocked to find this out.

        From Snopes:
Statistical evidence shows that rape in Sweden is not on the rise. Reported cases have remained steady for almost a decade. But egregious cases have sharpened the narrative and raised people’s fears. In one January 2017 incident, three men, two of whom are from Afghanistan, reportedly livestreamed the gang rape of a Swedish woman in Uppsala, a city north of Stockholm. The trial began on 24 March 2017, with the accused men denying charges that they raped the woman.

In other words, Outsider, don’t believe everything you hear or read and try to do a little fact checking on your own.

          Hines,
I don’t believe everything I read from you, and I’m certainly not about to believe everything I read or hear from the mainstream media. Perhaps YOU should be a little more skeptical.

The Government of Sweden, having become someone frustrated at widespread misinformation being spread about what is going on in the country, has kindly provided information on its own websites, so no-one needs argue about the situation:

          http://www.government.se/articles/2017/02/facts-about-migration-and-crime-in-sweden/

One of the points they mention, which, to my utter surprise, I’ve never seen mentioned here, is that it is impossible to compare Swedish rape statistics with any other country because they are very differently compiled. Thus, if a woman accuses her husband (their example) of raping her every night for a year, that counts as 365 charges of rape. Other countries do not do this. Other allegations may be classified as rape in Sweden that are not classified as rape elsewhere.

Criminal activity other than rape is also dealt with in a helpful manner on the website.

If anyone is unhappy with the statistics on the Swedish Government website, there is contact information provided so that you can put the government right yourself and provide your own, presumably better statistics. I’m just passing on the information, without comment.

T.K. the Unabomber was suffering from Schizophrenia, and was a Passive/Aggressive personality. He violently acted out against people due to the anal sadistic thrills, and reinforcement he received via news media. His manifesto was his own rationalization for wanting to inflict harm on people, and society, whilst providing a psychological justification for his domestic terrorism campaign on the USA. Exacting power over others, and society, gave him a personal sense of self actualization. When he was eventually caught he intellectualized the violence he used as a psychological defense mechanism that allowed him to absolve himself of personal guilt for his criminal actions against the society that he grew estranged from. T.K. was a garden variety
Sociopath with an Ivey League pedigree.

The bleak lament has echoed endlessly down the corridors of time.
Our prescient host laments and analyzes the world’s complexities and confusion, its faithlessness and falsehoods, and rightly so, his words often Wisteria in full bloom.

Looking at the world today, it can be hard to imagine that Matthew Arnold would compose “Dover Beach” more than 150 years ago. Surely the world back then was much more simple and pristine, although the Industrial Revolution was taking hold and railroads were spreading across England.

But Arnold’s lament was largely spiritual, and I believe that at its core, so is Jim’s.

Arnold once said that he was “wandering between two worlds, one dead, the other powerless to be born”.

    Maybe that’s where we are.

With rue my heart is laden (where is my bill of lading? JS),
      With golden friends I had,
      Many a rose lipped maiden,
And many a light foot lad.

By brooks to broad for leaping,
The light foot lads are laid,
And the rose lipped girls are sleeping,
      In fields where roses fade.

Houseman, I think. Is it Hausman or even Horseman? Horseman, pass on. A.E? Or was that the name of an Irish poet? Everything becomes everything else without borders. The mind above all must have borders. Only then can we impose them on the physical world. The Ancient Greeks saw the Universe as a terrifying chaos before the creation of borders – and thus, things.

Keep on going preacher, you’re coming thru. Am I? Am I, I, or another? Only God can truly say I am. As for the rest of us, we depend on his I am and his command, “Be”. In ourselves, we are accidents or derivative. We need not have been. Only He truly is. It’s hard to accept this, but all logic and philosophy lead to it, all based on introspection and knowledge that is. Sanity is the recognition of this. Sanctity is to know your (His) I am as a real experience.

So Trump and his base don’t like immigrants, both legal or illegal, from shit hole countries coming here for a better life. That begs the following questions:
After the next big hail storm, who is going to install that brand new roof for ya?
Who is going to watch and care for the snot-nosed children of the wealthy?
Who is going to clean-up that pitted-out room in Vegas or Aspen?
Who is going to tend to and pick the grapes for that next bottle of fine California wine?
Who is going to build that new dream home in the burbs or put in the yard?
Who is going to butcher the chickens and cattle so there is meat on the table?
Who is going to harvest the fields in Central California so fruit and vegetables are on the table?
Who is going to restock the store shelves on graveyard shift or drive the delivery trucks?
The answer is not a Norwegian. They have it pretty good where they are at. They won’t go bankrupt because of a medical emergency like in the good ole USA!
BTW, these immigrants in question, from what I have observed here in Vegas work long hours and more than one job to provide for their families. I dare anyone to try and outwork them! Sounds similar to those immigrants, our relatives, who came before.

“The immigration quandary remains, with its vexing questions. What if there isn’t enough of an American common culture left for anybody to assimilate into? Are we obliged to admit everyone in the world who wants to leave their own country? Do we care about how people get here, or how they behave once they are here? Does anything go, and nothing matter?” (JHK)
    ==================

Every habitable place left in an increasingly uninhabitable world will be facing this question – already is facing it actually.

It is strange that ‘populism’ is not at the moment equated to democracy, when if fact it is.

James Lovelock addressed this question of immigration by stating that the ‘lifeboat-nations’ would need to restrict entry.

Merkel found this out the hard way.

And yet – it is possible to imagine the as yet unimaginable – and that is that we will have to admit anyone and everyone – even as our own cultures disappear as a result – the alternative being to restrict immigration – and sacrifice our humanity.

Which is it going to be – the sacrifice of our culture or humanity?

I think, paradoxically – we should sacrifice our cultures – we, the ;lifeboat nations’, as we have proven incapable of dealing with the ‘perfect storm’ now unleashing it soon to be fury on us all.

I would vote for keeping our humanity – and dumping obviously failed cultures.

Further – and again paradoxically – we should, if we have the wherewithal – to go to space for resources and because it is in our nature to do so.

By design and evolutionary advantage, cultures are flexible.

Also by evolutionary design, our basic humanity is not for sale – it is non-negotiable – a type of ‘for better or worse’ here is where we stand.

Christ! It is against the law to enter a country illegally. All who have should be arrested and booted and made to apply for entry per the rules and regs. It’s called RULE OF LAW and it applies to EVERYONE.
Doesn’t matter if you have jobs here and work hard, doesn’t matter if you have children here now, etc. etc. You knowingly disrespected the law, the government and the American people. It is your fault. You gotta go. Leave and come back and do it correctly next time.

It’s about time – finally, the (verbal) feces has hit the fan.

Face it – that sort of language has been used in back rooms and closed meetings (business, politics, locker rooms, everywhere people think they are ” in private “) for time in memorial. But now, like the rubber gasket on the toilet tank which has disintegrated to where there is an awful leak with associated excreta all over the floor: what a mess!

This Affair – “ShitholeGate,” will go down in the annals of American history as the very moment that civil political discourse left the station and in its absence, the same vulgarization that has plagued secular American culture for decades finally breached the moat of propriety and crapped in the britches of collegiality in Washington, D.C. And far beyond.

Gross and refreshingly frank at the same time.

Most of the world writ large is a shit hole. There are few exceptions and they tend to have very restrictive immigration. For example: Singapore, NZ, Switzerland, Denmark. The good old USA is full of shit holes. Most cities have shit holes or are totally a shit hole. Americans have always tolerated shit holes. Ghettos, the hoods, white trash across the tracks. Stop kidding yourself. We are up to our ears in shit. So, what is really meant by Trump and shit holes? Simply that the migrants from Africa are the world’s losers. They ain’t latinos looking for work, they have no clue about work for the most part. They get no practice at their original shit hole. It is no news that black people commit crime well out of proportion to their population numbers. There is no reason to suspect that adding to their numbers will improve things. The thought is contribution rather than taking. The trick is to find the least shit hole place and move there if you can afford it.

  54. amb January 12, 2018 at 9:41 pm #

Washington DC is a shithole. The fancy suits, limos and expensive homes can’t cover that up. Drain the swamp, drain the shithole, what’s the difference.

I don’t want anyone else coming into this country unless they come in legally, have money, have skills and education, can take care of themselves, can start a business or stimulate the economy in some way.

I’ve very happy and grateful that I was born in the USA and not a shithole. Feel sorry for those in shitholes but that doesn’t mean I subscribe to filling the USA with more of them.

Just in case you fine folks have the idea that misplaced priorities is anything recent in the Republic (the general notion is that ‘murka was on the right track until the pesky distraction of World War II and its aftermatch derailed it) I offer the following linky, showing what happened when one misguided soul attempted to restore boring old agriculture to its proper place of honor.

The Japanese sure didn’t miss the opportunity to squeeze him for what he had to offer. What is riotous is that the statue of Colonel Clark on Hitsujigaoka Hill near Sapporo has neatly truncated what he ACTUALLY proclaimed: ‘Boys, be ambitious IN THE SERVICE OF THE LORD’. The clever Japanese, as ever, cherry-picked what they could use and dumped the rest.

“Including Israel’s laws? They’ve built Walls, haven’t they?” –janos

janos, Israel is about 473 times smaller than United States. Israel is smaller than the state of Vermont. Still, even with their walls, Israel has illegal immigrants. An Israeli immigration official said there are some 38,000 migrants living illegally in Israel, including Africans. Walls are a waste of money.

    • janet January 12, 2018 at 10:26 pm #

      “Humans are migratory
Their laws are useless.” –100th Avatar

Exactly! Anti-immigration laws cannot stop human migration. Walls cannot stop human migration. Specifically, the the case of the USA, 40 percent of people who reside illegally in the United States actually entered legally on a visa. No wall can stop that. And another Trump lie is that Mexico is going to pay for the wall. Mexico refused. Trump is now asking for Billions of dollars from your pocket.

Besides there are multiple ways to get around a wall. The wall idea is a waste of $70 Billion. Between 2011 and 2016, for example, 67 cross-border tunnels were uncovered just in the Border Patrol’s territory around Tucson, Arizona, and San Diego. As DHS has increased the security of the border, other methods have emerged, including cross-border tunnels, ultralight aircraft, panga boats, and recreational maritime vessels.

Give it up! You will never stop human migration into the United States. Both coasts and the whole northern border are wide open. Watcha gonna do? Waste your national budget on illusory “border security”?

    • akmofo January 13, 2018 at 7:14 am #

The Sudan and the other shithole migrants problem, predates the wall construction. In fact, if Israel had effective border control in 1967, the Palistan issue long ago would have been nonexistent, as most of the polulation there are recent migrants from Jordan. Talk about a land grab!

Give it up?!! Please! Janet never does.

The illegal migrants have totally wrecked southern Tel Aviv. The damage, just in property values to the local residents is in the billions of dollars in losses, evermind psychological trauma. People, especially seniors, have became prisoners in their own homes. They are terrified to go out to the street because of the horror that awaits there.

If it was up to me, I would award monies to citizens for summary executions of such criminals until all such criminals voluntarily depart the country. A really simple solution to Janet’s “give it up” nonsense.

Bingo. That’s what Blacks have done to every major city in America – thanks to White and Jewish Liberals. Yo chickens have come home to roost!

Now they and the Muslims in general are doing the same to the rest of Western Civilization. What madness possessed us to ever allow any of this? Abraham Lincoln wanted to send them out of the United States – as did all other clear thinking White Men.

Countless Whites had to flee their neighborhood and homes to escape the horror – and never again found the same kind or feeling of community. That’s another aspect of suburbanization, one that Mr Kunstler doesn’t often touch upon per se.

The situation in the US is different than that of normal countries. The US is not a normal country, it is an Empire. An Empire that swallowed huge continental size territories belonging to others. An Empire that even today is actively scheming to swallow Canada and Mexico (British/French/Spanish Empire holdings) via various trade treaties, cultural propaganda, corporate domination, and monetary union.

          The same with Europe.

The EU, spearheaded by Germany and the Vatican, are just emulating the US example.

          • Janos Skorenzy January 13, 2018 at 2:48 pm #

Ah, I see. So no White Country is normal and deserving of any right to self determination. Same old Jewish song, just in an unusual form.

          • akmofo January 13, 2018 at 2:56 pm #

You have to decide. Do you want to be a normal country, or do you want to be a thieving and conquering empire. Seems to me, throughout your whole history including the present, you already answered that question.

          • Janos Skorenzy January 13, 2018 at 7:42 pm #

Historically normal means doing as we have done. Nothing that others didn’t do, we just did it better and bigger. Now when Peace is the thing, we excelled at that as well – too much so for our own good though. It’s a time for War now and we must beat our ploughares into swords.

          • akmofo January 13, 2018 at 8:54 pm #

Sure, plenty of people robbed and murdered. You want to call it normal because they did so, that’s your prerogative. But don’t complain of the “evil” that’s done by others to your white race, because as you insist, it’s all totally normal.

Not “chain migration”, tucsonspur. The right name is family unification, because families are important to Republicans. In all cases, the sponsor of a family member must demonstrate the capacity to support their relative financially at 125% of the poverty level, and provide proof of the relationship. The outrage over “racist” comments on immigration is nothing more than a distraction. How does the US justify the use of social service resources for new immigrants from impoverished (i.e. “shithole”) nations when 40 million Americans live in poverty? This gets the so-called liberals all incensed, but shouldn’t we take care of our own citizens first before we bring other poor people here? Where is the compassion and real assistance for our own citizens? It’s way harder for a well-educated professional from Germany or Norway to immigrate to the US (especially when it comes to marrying an American) than it is for a Somalian with no education or job skills. Call it racist, and tar and feather the messenger all you want, but it’s true.

Ambiguous feelings about the lower orders of mankind? No, I don’t think the feelings of the so-called “Left” are ambiguous, unmanageable contempt is the usual state. See, the lower orders of mankind are there to serve the Left as scullery maids and drivers and pool attendants. And when they aren’t the household help, they’re to be the chicken eviscerators and lettuce pickers, and when they’re not doing that, lower orders are to serve as marionettes in the long-running social justice puppet show with Leftist “activists” pulling the strings.

    Sunk in grievance fantasies….

Ironically the people admonishing other people to check their privilege are the most obscenely privileged, that is, white students attending spectacularly expensive colleges paid for by wealthy parents.

Absurdly, they’re the ones exercising the lexicon of grievance most vigorously taking dire offense at everything, even wood. Maybe it was a practical joke by someone intending to satirize the sheer silliness of it but a student at the University of Michigan actually complained that the wood panelling in a university facility was “racist” because it was quiet, imposing and masculine and would make minority students feel marginalized. Strip away the politics for a moment. What is happening? Generations of Europeans ie. Various groups of White caucasians have dominated the economy of the world using colonialism as the main tool, removing resources from the Third World and either consuming them or manufacturing something and selling it back. These countries have dominated the world since the 1400’s. What has happened since the Industrial Age started is that these developed countries do not need as many children to be produced. With people more concerned with wealth preservation than producing kids, the reproductive rates of European sourced countries has dropped significantly whereas other area have been overproducing kids. Now enter politics, what does the world do with the imbalance? So far, not so good. The Trump phenomenon is just one expression of this. He is trying, with minimum discomfort to stem the tide of population shift to the US. It is not working well politically. How much shitholing will this population take before it realizes it is losing its place in the world and starts to fight back. Today’s liberals will be traitors in the future. It is literally a fight for who will inhabit the earth and Europeans are losing. George Soros and his gang are trying their best to inflame the process and have had thirty years of liberality in the US to do so. Extrapolate the future and watch the world become a feudal society again with the Elite dictating everyone’s life. Automation, population shift, petroleum scarcity and monetary domination are going the accelerate the process. JHK’s novels have shown his conjecture of what this future may look like. If you like the idea of Elite domination, vote Democrat or RINO GOP. Much depends on the next 10 years.

The global elite, effectively represented by COLLECTIVIST NETWORK globalists, have developed AI enabled technologies allowing for the obsolescence and elimination of those they define as “deplorable”, in the old republics.

As an example, in the liberal haven of San Francisco, AI enabled drones are rousting the homeless 24/7.

This, combined with phenomenal life extension technologies reserved for the elite, allow them to rule over Earth, in perpetuity.

…and the elites, in pursuing the stated reduction of Earth human population to 500 million, justify the use of human obsoleting technologies in order to “save the planet”.

…and what better way to reduce the population of their defined deplorables, then by creating and exporting ignorance, hate, pestilence, famine, wildfires, earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, gender confusion, and war, while simultaneously displacing human knowledge and the means of production with AI enabled sentient bots and systems?

In the New Republic, our views are quite different, as we reboot the Constitutional Republic to Revision 2.0.

“It is error alone that requires the support of government. TRUTH can stand on its own.”

“We must live together as brothers, or we will perish as fools.”

Always shun outbreeders – White Women with non-White kids. They deserve None of our Treasure, material or emotional. Such a woman has spat in her Father’s face and in the face of every White Man as well.

Yes, and the Elite believe other Whites aren’t compliant enough to serve their needs. Thus they have to be gotten rid of or bred down to create more docile offspring.

The old Texas Longhorns were great because they could take care of themselves, but they were dangerous to work with. Thus when the old cattle drives were over and that independence and strength no longer needed, they were bred out.

    THE USA CREATED THE SHITHOLES

In 1914, U.S. Marines invaded Haiti marched into the national reserve and carried out all the gold. Wilson ordered an invasion, then a full occupation. For the next 19 years, the United States ruled Haiti. U.S. Marines fought a bloody counterinsurgency campaign to stamp out resistance. The Marines instituted a system, drawn from Haitian law, called the corvée, in which peasants were essentially re-enslaved.

Many of the occupation’s leaders were explicit white supremacists who used lessons they had learned instituting Jim Crow at home to create new, American forms of discrimination in Haiti.

Haiti a shithole? The USA created a shithole there through theft, slavery, and murder. This is a familiar story: the barbarous fruit white European so-called civilization. Theft, slavery, and murder. Those are the western “values” imposed upon the rest of the world to create shitholes.

If America is the culmination of Western white civilization, as everyone from the Left to the Right declares, then there must be something terribly wrong with Western white civilization.

This is a painful truth; few of us want to go that far…. The truth is that Mozart, Pascal, Boolean algebra, Shakespeare, parliamentary government, baroque churches, Newton, the emancipation of women, Kant, Marx, Balanchine ballets, et al, don’t redeem what this particular civilization has wrought upon the world.

The white race is the cancer of human history; it is the white race and it alone—its ideologies and inventions—which eradicates autonomous civilizations wherever it spreads, which has upset the ecological balance of the planet, which now threatens the very existence of life itself. –Susan Sontag

“Christ! It is against the law to enter a country illegally.” –amb

The United States has active duty military troops stationed in nearly 150 countries. Wherever American soldiers are stationed there is usually a rape crisis center nearby to attend to the young girls and women who are sexually assaulted by US troops. Rape is illegal.

None of those 150 countries have their troops within USA borders. Soldiers from those 150 countries are not raping American women.

Why is it Ok to say crap but not shit – even though they mean the same thing? It’s a glitch in the human mind that creates this kind of thing. But let me tell you: bad people (like my sister) love these kind of mindless conventionalities that make up “polite society”. Why? Because they hide behind them in order to appear good. And can point the figure at people who don’t. Not only is that pleasurable in itself, but it’s a bonding mechanism whereby they can meld in with normal people – even though they are anything but. JS

    The Master speaks:

Even the libs know that Trump got it right.

President Donald Trump has been a disappointment in many ways. He’s inspired a fanatical leftist counter-reaction. The racial dissident movement is weaker after his first year in office than it was before he was elected. And the demographic transformation of America continues.

Yet we should not regret his election, for President Trump has the singular ability to reveal truths our opponents would prefer to leave unspoken. Sometimes, he bluntly announces these truths himself. Sometimes, the reactions of his foes speak more loudly than even he ever could. Both phenomena are at work in “Shitholegate,” a media firestorm that despite its crudity has sparked what may be the single most important debate on immigration policy since the Jordan Commission.

According to Senator Dick Durbin, President Trump questioned why the United States continues to accept immigrants from “shithole” Africa countries and Haiti. Senator Durbin took it upon himself to leak these comments to the press, which duly reacted with outrage. “Shitholegate” may be the single largest scandal of President Trump’s administration, at least in terms of media reaction.

It is revealing that Senator Durbin felt justified in releasing comments from a private conversation. Such an action, as Senate Republicans have pointed out, show Democrats were never serious about negotiating an immigration compromise.

We don’t even know if President Trump used the exact words Senator Durbin says he did, since no Republicans seem to be backing his account, and the White House has denied it. But even assuming Senator Durbin’s account is correct, immediately repeating the contents of a private conversation to hostile outsiders is more than a breach of trust. It makes ordinary conversation impossible, since no one has the right to question orthodoxy, even in private.

Of course, that’s precisely the kind of country we live in today. And, as is entirely typical in these cases, the outrage over “Shitholegate” is over the term the president used, not whether what he said was true or false. Essentially, the President of the United States is being accused of blasphemy, dissenting from the unexamined contention that African nations are wonderful, and immigrants from them benefit us.. Every screaming editorial, outraged TV journalist, and expletive-laden tweet can be summarized thus: He’s not allowed to say that.

What makes this maddening is that not only is President Trump right, but the immigration position of his opponents is dependent on his being right. Of course those nations are “shitholes.” If they weren’t, leftists wouldn’t have to argue that their citizens should be allowed to stay.

One of the countries President Trump was supposedly referring to was El Salvador. Because of an earthquake back in 2001, 200,000 Salvadorans—whether here legally or illegally—got temporary permission to stay in the United States. Critics say they should not be sent back to a poor country plagued by gang violence. In other words, even though there is no extraordinary emergency in El Salvador, we shouldn’t send Salvadorans back home because it is, in fact, a shithole.

It was only a short time ago the horrific nature of these nations was used to explain why their citizens want to come here. Senator Lindsey Graham, one of the most prominent open-borders Republicans, called Mexico a “hellhole” in 2013, not to insult Mexico, but to explain why Mexicans want to leave. Likewise, few still pretend that the migrants flooding Europe really are Syrians fleeing civil war. The main reason they come is to escape poverty; their countries are shitholes.

President Trump is actually agreeing with the Left’s analysis. But since he intends to use the argument to limit immigration rather than encourage it, it becomes immoral. Race realists see this game all the time. If Jared Taylor points out America will soon become majority non-white, it is alarmist and offensive. If a leftist does it, it is positive and praiseworthy.

President Trump also says he wants more immigration from Europe, and this has prompted the usual absurdities from the Beltway Right. Erick Erickson, the original “cuckservative,” tells us African immigrants are preferable to “socialist” immigrants from Norway. David French’s wife Nancy complains that the president thinks her adopted Ethiopian daughter comes from a ”shithole” country. Well, if she didn’t, the Frenches wouldn’t have any reason to brag about having adopted her.

Former CIA head John Brennan even claims that “Lady Liberty” and the Founding Fathers are “weeping” over President Trump’s statements. Of course, the Founding Fathers were by today’s unabashed standards white nationalists. As for Haiti, they refused to recognize the Haitian government and Thomas Jefferson called the slave revolt “a terrible engine, absolutely ungovernable,” and hoped France could suppress it. The Founding Fathers, would, if anything, think President Trump was a dangerous egalitarian.

Many commentators assert that regardless of what Americans themselves want, the country will only grow more “diverse.” Mexican President Vicente tweeted that not even the president can say who is welcome in the US and who is not, suggesting that it is illegitimate to limit immigration from anywhere. America therefore does not really exist except as a pile of wealth to be taken by anyone who shows up. It does not have identity, interests, or an independent existence. Therefore, it cannot exercise any discrimination in admitting new residents. A “moral” immigration policy, in this conception, is essentially the death knell for America.

But facts matter, and racial reality asserts itself in the performance of different groups once they arrive. Reason magazine tells us it doesn’t matter where you come from, “it matters what you do while you are here.” But most nonwhite immigrants get on welfare at rates far exceeding that of European immigrants, but this is precisely what we are not allowed to debate. The whole point of the media hysteria is to avoid any discussion of what kind of society Third World immigration brings.

And leftists knows this. When it comes to where to live, where to go to school, and where to buy property, leftists, like everyone else, avoid bad neighborhoods. Their attempts to pretend they don’t notice differences between neighborhoods and nations is self-discrediting. As Steve Sailer points out, using a “diversity visa” or random admissions for universities such as Stanford would destroy the quality of the university, yet status-conscious liberals pretend these things are good for America.

Even Rich Lowry of National Review scored a victory when he asked Joan Walsh of The Nation if she would rather live in Norway or Haiti. She refused to answer, tacitly conceding his point. When angry liberals say they are going to leave the country if a Republican wins the White House, they say they are going to Canada or Europe. No one says he is going to Mexico, and certainly not Haiti.

Of course, there is a problem with looking at country of origin as the source for immigration. Because of immigration which has already occurred overseas, it is no longer clear who is coming from Britain or France. It is not geography but genetics that predict future performance. Whites from South Africa will perform better in the United States than Senegalese whose passports say they are French. Black Americans, despite being here for centuries, have created cities and neighborhoods that can be characterized as “shitholes,” forcing most Americans to figure out ways to escape them without admitting what they are doing.

If you go by what people do, rather than that what they say, nearly everyone agrees with President Trump. Yet we are witnessing a blunt attempt to shut down debate and police speech in order to promote an open-borders immigration policy. As global demographics change, borders become increasingly necessary. Every person reading this and especially every Third World immigrant knows that Donald Trump has done nothing more than shine a light on harsh reality.

It remains for race realists to explain why it is not only permissible, but moral to resist replacement. Public policy should not be defined by cowardice and hypocrisy. And America was not founded in order to become just another shithole.

    Janos, right on.

The great secret of the Deep State and Washington, DC is that these SOB’s in our Federal government earn their stripes by how little they accomplish and how few waves they make. Trump is an anathema to the entire Federal bureaucracy. What do you mean you want to change things and make them better? This mindset is in the bureaucracy, the Congress, the Senate, big parts of the executive branch, especially in the law enforcement group. Lobbyists milk the heck out of this giving our elected officials guarantees for their future in return for their votes. The hell with their constituencies. Soros is right in the middle of it all with his greasy footprints all over the field of play. These people get elected, spend a year or so doing nothing, then go back to their areas and lie for votes. If mankind had had this attitude through the millennia, we would still be in caves. Solution, vote against the status quo, the more old timers that are defeated, the better for the country. Noticed a lot of them are jumping ship, I wonder what they are running away from?

Lindsey Graham says that he “believes America is an idea, not defined by its people, but by its ideals”.

    Here’s more:

Graham went on to say, “The American ideal is embraced by people all over the globe. It was best said a long time ago, E Pluribus Unum — Out of Many, One. Diversity has always been our strength, not our weakness…”

This furtive faggot seems to think that high falutin’, noble sentiments that have now become downright dangerous are the guidelines we should live by, even as the nation is beset by invasive criminal hordes and low life parasites.

How outdated and unrealistic can he be? To say America is not defined by its people is the surest way to a shithole.

Russian military base in Syria was attacked by drones – the whole squadron of thirteen pieces.

The authors and organizers of this shock-reconnaissance operation immediately launched a cover story: savage terrorists somewhere purchased accessories and assembled drones in their caves. Proof – glued to the wing with Scotch tape inscriptions in Arabic. (Did someone expected to find inscriptions: made in Israel, the US or Britain?)

I suggest conducting a thought experiment: try crafting 13 drones and fly them so that they get to the target area, coordinated in speed and flight altitude. And you’re supposed to determine the coordinates of the targets by raising a moistened finger to the sky.

The drone group was led by a drone-leader. On it was installed a video camera, which provided identification of the terrain of the flight route, that was programmed into the brains of the drones. This drone-leader distributed this information to all members of the combat group, thus ensuring the coordinated flight behavior.

In parallel with this, an American reconnaissance and combat guidance plane “Poseidon” appears in the strike area. While its normal (the most economical) cruising flight speed is 815 kilometers per hour, it was barraging at a speed of 357 kilometers per hour. That is, flying in the mode of combat patrol for reconnaissance and combat guidance.

The task of the drones was not to inflict the maximum damage as much as to bring to the state of combat readiness Russian anti-aircraft defense. To record important information: when the targets were detected, how long it took to bring the complexes to use, what communication systems and target designation were engaged and much more.

President Vladimir Putin said that Turkey has nothing to do with the launch of the drones. Israel, too. By default, the Supreme finger-pointed at the US.

Absolutely unexpected for the Americans was the Russian response. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian Special Forces destroyed the sabotage group, which on December 31 shelled the Khmeimim base.

At the final stage of the operation, a group of Russian Special Operations Forces established the location of a sabotage group of militants (including English-speaking specialists from private military companies) near the western border of Idlib province…

Upon the arrival of the terrorists at the facility where they were preparing to transfer to a minibus, the entire sabotage group was destroyed by high-precision munition “Krasnopol”.

I seriously doubt it. The Deep State would not be worth its salt if they let one man scare them. Trump could “get got” relatively easily.

I can see none of you actually watched the video. Trump has got these pedophiles by the balls. Literally. Hopefully he’s going to tare them a new socket.

          • Ol' Scratch January 15, 2018 at 8:28 am #

I believe that he’s got a lot of people’s attention alright, but he’s gonna need a mighty big army on his side to take these guys on. As we’re seeing now, they will fight back by any means necessary were he to get traction with any of this. The “Deep State” is much broader and deeper than just the CIA and the other official three letter agencies and it’s deeply entrenched throughout the world.

Is that war still going on? We hear very little about it from our American MSM. Instead its Trump this, Trump that, Trump is a moron, Trump is mentally ill, Trump is unfit for office, Trump is a racist, blah blah blah blah 24/7 round the clock.

So is there still a civil war in Syria, Finca?

      Highly unlikely.

If we are gonna create a new type of lifeway centred on more localized, walkable communities, how is that achieved? I don’t see municipalities having any incentive to do this. Cities & counties want as much property tax income as possible, so I don’t see local governments willingly changing to a more spread out, humanized system of neighborhoods.

So, unless citizens want less services & programs, or if taxes are increased– both of which I don’t envision.

In the World Made by Hand books, these changes are made possible by the decline & fall of the established order, which– may be one of the few ways this is gonna happen.

In my opinion, the main cause of the global economic crisis is the overproduction of dollars, and the only way to remove this crisis in a relatively peaceful way is to implement infrastructure projects on a planetary scale, the most feasible being the construction of a high-speed transcontinental railway from the South Korean port of Masan through North Korea and Russia, to Berlin, Paris and London.

Of course, the appearance of such a railroad means big losses for banks insuring ocean shipping, and the emergence of a single Korea, combining South Korea’s technological development with North Korea’s nuclear and missile building potential, can frighten not only Japan. But on the other hand around such a road there will emerge an infrastructure that will tie up 20 – 30 trillions of dollars, which may well direct the development of the world economy in a different direction.

A few years ago there was news from North Korea about a breakthrough in the field of energy – the successful development of thermonuclear fusion technology.

If this was true, then of course this would be a terrible blow to the Free World, where the main freedom is the opportunity to freely convert dollars into oil futures and back.

The very possibility of almost inexhaustible source of clean energy becoming realistic would have undermined this freedom so much that even the notorious “mother of Kuzma”, about which Khrushchev spoke at the UN podium, would appear to be a member of the Helsinki Group.

Fortunately, this is all a ridiculous misinformation, since major scientific discoveries are inseparable from the freedom of discussions in American scientific magazines and obtaining large grants from the American government.

How can scientists make such discoveries, if they do not even have access to Wikipedia!?

The ideological brainwashing in a totalitarian state is inseparable from scientific stagnation, and people brought up on Juche ideas can not make discoveries more complicated than a fuse for a thermonuclear bomb or a turbo-pump aggregate of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

    • Ol' Scratch January 15, 2018 at 8:19 am #

Lots of infrastructure being built these days Finc, you just have to know where to look for it. Corporate office towers, upscale university construction grants, gated community developments, sports/entertainment stadiums and arenas, and mansions for the rich and famous are all experiencing boom times. And need I even mention military/police hardware – much of it absolutely useless – and for-profit prisons? If I were going to invest, I’d put it into actual drones and assorted weaponry for personal use, not that any of it will save you for long, but they should at least provide some entertainment value once the shit goes down. The capital markets are no longer for allocating capital, but just serve as a casino, as the big banks’ HFT algos rule the realm.

      • FincaInTheMountains January 15, 2018 at 9:44 am #

Fortunately, this is all a ridiculous misinformation, and the major infrastructure projects will be realized under the Trump Presidency, just like they did under the Roosevelt’s.

I’ve been to Haiti a few times and believe me, it is a sh-thole. The squalor and poverty take your breath away. The President might have added that we are a sovereign country and not the dumping ground for failed states from the entire wretched third world.

The best part tho was Anderson Cooper, Elegant New York Queer, actually shedding crocodile tears on the air over Trumps purported comment on Haiti. Cooper apparently has a ‘bond with the Haitian people’. Bond with the Haitian people? I have no doubt he may have at one time or another set foot in the country, highly inoculated, surrounded by the tightest armed security, drinking bottled water and packing food supplies from the best Manhattan eateries. What a goddam phony he is.

Yeah I understand Illinois is in even worse shape than Connecticut, and that’s saying something.

On Thursday a nephew had to go to the DMV in Waterbury to renew his drivers license. He stated without exaggeration that out of the 250 people on the premises he did not hear English spoken once, even from state officials working in the place. (CT offers drivers licenses to illegals and they are flooding in from all over the world to get one)

Looks like the big national manic uproars from two weeks ago — ‘America’s Rape Crisis’ — and from last week, the book ‘Fire and Fury’, have been all but forgotten. The Revenge of History in U.S.-Russian Relations

    http://nationalinterest.org/feature/siberia-crimea-the-revenge-history-us-russian-relations-24062

Interesting article in National Interest. Some quotes:

“Atrocities of the American Invaders in Primorye”

“… where have the Americans not stuck their nose, leaving behind a not so fond memory of themselves”

“… the majority of our [Russian] youth today, educated by American action films and nurtured by hamburgers and Coca-cola do not even have a small bit of understanding [of this history].”

The wife of a partisan is said to have been “pierced by bayonets and drowned in a garbage pit”

He was returned home alive but in a bloodied condition. He is said to have died a few days later, after asking “Why did they torture me…”?
