Two Forces and Three Bears

In these climax years of industrial technocratic society, two opposing forces shape the destiny of government: the desperate effort to control everything versus the decline of the ability to carry out that effort. The result will be the loss of legitimacy and the collapse of government from the highest levels, moving downward until the real power to make anything work re-sets at a feasible and appropriate level — probably very local. This dynamic is seen very clearly in three spectacles du jour: the “national security” (spying) mess, government-sponsored accounting fraud in finance, and the ObamaCare rollout.

As history develops, people do things for the simple reason that it seems like a good idea at the time. Computer tech made it possible for bureaucrats and military apparatchiks to invade the privacy of everybody, but in the end it only had the effect of embarrassing the perpetrators and eroding a big chunk of the US government’s legitimacy. The attempt at maximum control will eventually lead to maximum resistance and, quite possibly, some sort of political revolution, perhaps starting with the death of the two dominant political parties. When political disruption finally occurs, it will manifest quickly, as criticality thresholds are breached. It has the potential of taking this society in very undesirable directions including civil war, theocracy, and war against other peoples.

The diminishing returns of computer technology applied to intelligence gathering are that it produces more mountains of data than any team of professionals can make sense of, and it prompts said professionals to make mischief with the information that is easiest to sort out: the financial records of ordinary citizens. Nothing will create political resistance more surely than messing with people’s money. The NSA apparatus is now a self-reinforcing monster that will strive for ever more control ineffectively, creating a debris path of ever more embarrassment and resentment. A lone true patriot like Snowden does more to oppose this monster than all the “freedom” and “liberty” spouting, flag-lapel-pin-wearing cowards in either political party.

The pervasive accounting fraud in the attempt to prop up an unsound banking system is even closer to criticality. A society that produces tradable goods needs sound money which functions as 1) a medium of exchange, 2) a store of value 3) a unit of account for establishing prices. The combined accounting frauds in Federal Reserve policy, private banking and securities markets, and government fiscal management is destroying all these functions. The more abstracted finance gets from real productive activity, the more fragile the system becomes. We are doing nothing now except adding more complexity and abstraction to it, causing the system to become more detached from reality. In effect, we’re opting to forego an economy based on goods in favor of one based on empty promises and paper swindles. The potential and probable consequent destruction of nominal wealth would be an event that advanced technocratic society likely will not recover from — in the sense that today’s standard of living could be preserved for billions of people worldwide. That destruction would herald a new dark age, this time without any prospect of recovery via the exploitation of natural resources, which will have been depleted.

The ObamaCare piece of the picture is a mere pathetic soap opera compared to the first two quandaries. The 2000-page law did nothing to address the core tragedy of medicine in America — namely, that it has evolved into a hideous hostage racket. You go to a hospital with a terrifying illness and you are susceptible to fleecing by the so-called “care-givers” for the promise that you may get to live. No prices for treatment are ever discussed. They are presumed to be astronomical — but who cares if you end up dead, and if you do get to live, you’ll figure that out later. If you hold an insurance policy, these charges will be subject to a fake negotiation between grifting insurance companies and grifting hospitals, physicians, and drug companies. The price “settlements” are only slightly less a joke than the actual charges, and are obfuscated in documents designed to bewilder even well-educated policy-holders.

Even if you are insured, the charges may bankrupt you. A typical one-day charge for “room and board” in a non-specialized hospital in-patient bed runs $23,000 at my local hospital. For what? Half a dozen blood-pressure checks and three bad meals? You can be sure that ever-fewer families will be able to fork over $12,000-a-year for basic coverage. The ObamaCare legislation and its laughable rollout of a useless website is just a punctuation mark at the end of the soap opera script. The result eventually will be the complete implosion of the medical racket and a return to a very primitive clinic system, with payment in chickens or cords of stove-wood. The smaller number of surviving humans will surely enjoy better health, and greater piece of mind, when this monster racket expires of inertia, bad faith, and deceit.

These efforts to manage runaway hyper-complexity with more complexity are guaranteed to fail. Our prime task at this moment in history is managing contraction, and the means for doing that would be simplifying, not adding layers of complication larded with fraud, pretense, and mendacity.

Why have other nations managed to achieve national health care?

    • Smoky Joe October 28, 2013 at 10:32 am #

I got private insurance in Spain, as a non-citizen on a work visa, for $30 per month in the 80s. It’s not much more now. Without a military-industrial complex and a for-profit insurance-industrial complex, Spain covers all its citizens and tamps down revolution.

I guess you could argue that with 53% of the youth unemployed, they SHOULD rebel.

      • zykedrums October 29, 2013 at 4:39 am #

I’m an American living in Spain. I’ve been here on and off for 30 years. I became a Spanish citizen years ago. We have public health coverage and nothing we’ve ever used it for has ever involved any additional charges (hospital births, appendix operations, colonoscopy, magnetic resonance tests, visits with specialists such as dermatologists, gynocologists, doctor visits as often as needed, and a long list of etceteras. We cannot imagine living without this. The quality of life and peace of mind this system provides us with has been enormous for me, my family and most people I know here. Our taxes contribute to funding the system. The government at present has instituted severe cutbacks in healthcare (and education and other services as well) and the country has very serious problems on all levels…But even now the healthcare we receive and have received during 30 years, at no additional cost, is worth everything we’ve been through to live here. Plain and simple. There are people, many people, who opt for private health insurance or some combination of the two systems, but so far we haven’t felt the need to do this and are extremely grateful and fortunate. The United States must figure out a way to provide this essential, human, civilized and humane service to all people within its borders.

In Canada, where I live, it was figured out quite a few years ago. It started in Saskatchewan under Premier Tommy Douglas. At first the doctors wouldn’t have anything to do with it and went on strike. But the protesting didn’t last long, and now we have it in every province. I am low-income and when I need to see a doctor I pay zilch, nada. And there are no premiums to be paid if you are low-income. For people with higher incomes the premiums are quite reasonable. Unfortunately I don’t get dental care or eyeglasses covered , but everything else including hospitalization is taken care of. I never see a bill. If I see a naturopath or some other kind of “alternative” practitioner, only a portion of it is covered, but a lot of people have extended health plans at their workplaces that do cover the extras. So why can’t the richest country in the world figure it out?

      • CoalMineCanary October 28, 2013 at 3:41 pm #

I don’t think it is matter of ignorance, of not being able to figure out. how to provide healthcare to our citizens. It is a question of priorities, and apparently spending obscene amounts of money to basically “make the world safe for business” via the “defense” department takes precedence.

      • DennyO October 28, 2013 at 6:31 pm #

One of the neat things bout how medicare started in Canada was that it originated as a cooperative enterprise between the doctors of the Swift Current, SK rural municipality (more or less like a country) and the RM, paid by local taxes. It actually was a “win-win”, as the doctors there back in 1947 had seen the worst of the depression and getting a moderate but real cash income was a plus for them going forward. But the bigger city docs in Regina and Saskatoon didn’t share their enthusiasm.

I think if the United States could start medicare on a smaller level and get the wheels rolling that way, it would likely work effectively. But, it takes good will and and selflessness on the part of the medical profession and these days I doubt that enough of that exists in Saskatchewan, let alone the U.S. Health care today is more like an industry than a profession, and even the doctors are not really in charge of it, they are like the cast of an ongoing soap opera that is ultimately driven by money. In Canada too.

I am happy to be in Canada, but I can see that our health care is trending toward unaffordability. We are just fooled for the moment by the notion that its free, but nothing is really free. As the costs rise at a faster rate then economic growth we too will see economic rationing take hold.

        • Helen Highwater October 28, 2013 at 10:15 pm #

Also more people are getting older and requiring expensive care to stay alive, and some of them don’t even want to be kept alive but the courts say they have to be. Eventually this kind of care will become too costly and this will change, hopefully before I decide my time here on Earth is up. I’ve heard the majority of health care costs are incurred during the last six months of a person’s life.

          • Post Peak Medicine October 29, 2013 at 6:10 am #

Sometimes people make what appear to be bizarre end-of-life choices. I was treating a patient with terminal stomach cancer who wanted to be put on Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN, or intravenous feeding). Why? Because he desperately wanted to grasp on to a few more days of (increasingly uncomfortable) life? Because he thought it was the “normal” thing to do at the end of life? Because his family expected it so he complied? Because it was “free”? All of the above? I really don’t know. Anyway, as the attending physician, I was obliged to set it up, but fortunately the dietician talked him out of it before the tubes went in.

    • solarenergy October 29, 2013 at 4:35 pm #

One weakness in Jim’s argument is this statement:

“That destruction would herald a new dark age, this time without any prospect of recovery via the exploitation of natural resources, which will have been depleted.”

This is certainly true of many of the earth’s resources. We are now well into so-called “tertiary extraction” mode for oil and natural gas…the low hanging, and cheap, stuff is long gone.

However, renewable energy sources — solar, wind (solar converted to large scale movement of air) and others have NOT been depleted…they barely been tapped yet.

And the act of deploying, for example, solar panels at your house or business is pretty much an off-the-shelf acquisition of parts…construction takes very little time compared, say, to building a coal or nuclear power plant.

Lastly, there are no emissions during operation. So, with sufficient deployment, carbon levels could eventually begin coming down.

Now I know, since I’ve read (and bought) everything by Jim, he’ll say I’m guilty of wishful thinking, but it is not wishing, it is simple math — today’s solar PV panels return five times as much energy during their 25 year warranty life as it takes to make them…so it is a sustainable path to the future, by definition.

Am I as hopeful that our political systems will toss off the corruption that has then captured by the fossil fuel interests? Not as much…

      • solarenergy October 29, 2013 at 4:37 pm #

I’m a terrible editor of my own stuff…”…will toss of the corruption that has captured them by the fossil fuel interests.” Sorry

  2. Smoky Joe October 28, 2013 at 10:29 am #

FOIST! Societies get complex not long before they fail. Reading Tacitus’ Annals now–in the first century of the Empire, the complexity was already too great, the system too perverted by cronyism and imperial overreach.

    Then it began to unravel.

  3. K-Dog October 28, 2013 at 10:39 am #

Maybe not better health with the current medical infrastructure totally gone with the wind but chickens and stove-wood will give a far better bang for the buck no question about that. Cannabis will probably be the strongest drug in a medical bag.

I’ll agree that the big issues are accounting fraud and spying both of which are incinerating that most important of externalities required for any civilization’s heart beat – TRUST.

It’s going to be a mess. More complexity and abstraction gets piled on a teetering tower of a system and when the fall comes it comes hard Society splinters in a thousand pieces with not a drop of glue to put it back together.

It could be different if there were a true patriot among the suit-wearing flag-lapel-pin-wearing motherfucking cowards but all their doing is having a smile wearing competition thinking that by rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic just the right way they get a spot in a lifeboat.

Problem is this ship has no lifeboats. They were broken up and taken down to the engine room last week where it’s full speed ahead right into the iceberg.

We’re all in this together but the suits think otherwise. A theocracy of sustainability is the answer but Jim describe a theocracy of another kind.

When political disruption finally occurs, it will manifest quickly, as criticality thresholds are breached. It has the potential of taking this society in very undesirable directions including civil war, theocracy, and war against other peoples.

Theocracy as Jim speaks of it is of the ‘war against other people’ kind. Everybody thinking that they are son of Epram chosen ones or some such bull. That will be the frosting on the cake of doom.

        • Janos Skorenzy October 28, 2013 at 3:00 pm #

Leftists also think they are the Chosen ones. They deny the validity of all other Cults – just like all other Cults do. No one can deny that Communism serves as a religion for its acolytes. And Green is the new Red, Watermelon! And it is being funded from the top o’ the top.

What the heck are you talking about?

          • AKlein October 29, 2013 at 10:33 am #

What Janos means is that our current circumstance is not accidental. By corollary, Janos implies that there really is another “way” out of this, and I would definitely agree. It’s called, believe it or not, an “Aristocracy.” Aristocracy, in its original meaning, meant “rule by the best.” But “by the best” does not mean “by the richest” or “by those with the biggest clubs.”
But back to Janos’ comment. I think Janos is suggesting to beware of faux “discovery.” There remains the great probability that we are being herded into a mindset that we think we “discovered” and this perceived “discovery” deludes us into thinking it’s the only rational course of action.

  4. Neon Vincent October 28, 2013 at 10:44 am #

This week’s essay is a brute force exposition that lays out the delayed consequences you alluded to in last week’s masterpiece of well-turned phrases. One of them is the death of the two major parties. That has not happened before in the U.S.; only one party has died at a time, and it’s always been the opposition to the Democrats, whether it’s the Federalists or the Whigs. This time, the Republicans seem to be suffering a crisis, enough that the two major factions are at war with each other and the party as a whole is suffering as a result. Consequently, five Michigan GOP congressmen are in danger of losing their seats.

    http://crazyeddiethemotie.blogspot.com/2013/10/rogers-and-upton-join-walberg.html

As for the Democrats dying, it could happen, but the party survived being on the wrong side of the Civil War. Things would have to get much worse for them to die, too. Of course, that’s rather the point, isn’t it?

    • Greg Knepp October 28, 2013 at 12:09 pm #

Yes, the Democrats were on the wrong side of the Civil War as far as the North was concerned. But when the southern states began to re-enter the Union after the war, the tide of the party turned. This was an anomaly that will not likely be repeated.

    • Dick Buttkiss October 28, 2013 at 5:51 pm #

There aren’t two parties, just a duopoly that is but two sides of the same (increasingly worthless) coin. And it’s the duopoly itself, meaning the USG, that must go, the failure of our vaunted experiment in federative government being complete and only awaiting the same Just Say No that our former Soviet counterparts engaged in a couple decades ago.

Everyone knew it was over then, and everyone will soon know it now.

The “devolution revolution” is coming, in other words — http://www.zerohedge.com/article/guest-post-transition-free-society — so buck up — http://readynutrition.com/resources/52-weeks-to-preparedness-an-introduction_19072011

you make a very salient point about the ACA.
“Even if you are insured, the charges may bankrupt you.”
the ACA was written for college educated professionals knocking down $100,000 plus per year, and those below the poverty line. for those of us who inhabit the nether regions populated by the great unwashed a hospital stay of any kind will bankrupt us. even a $10,000 debt is crippling, besides the fact we can’t afford to take off work in the first place, seeing as how most of us are a paycheck or two away from homelessness.

the ACA is a cruel joke which serves the intelligentsia and the destitute, but only puts an aditional burden on those already struggling to make neds meet.

I feel your focus is misplaced.
Please review your comments in the light of the fact that the ACA was written by “health” insurance “providers” (actually, deniers). Handing over a giant customer base, by MANDATE, to be sucked dry by shysters. The ACA assured the survival of these vampires, when they should have been forced to struggle for their customers against a non-profit, single-payer entity. That would have crushed most of them.
This blaming of the intellectuals and the poor is a tactic of decidedly cruel agendas [as history shows].

      • K-Dog October 28, 2013 at 12:47 pm #

        A small correction.

Educated professionals knocking down $100,000 plus per year does not make an intellectual. It is not a sufficient or even necessary requirement. Intellectuals for the most part are not treated well in our society. The requirement to be an intellectual is to think and never stop. Rocking of the boat inevitably results as it should.

We shall not cease from exploration. And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.

        T. S. Eliot, Little Gidding

$100,000 plus per year can actually sterilize a mind though this is not always true. Enough money and one might join the mindless sheep of the upper class.

      • the Heretick October 28, 2013 at 1:20 pm #

please re-read what i said, i said it was written “for”, not “by”.
and i am certainly not blaming the poor, which 45 years of hourly wages have barely kept me above? maybe; that’s an open question.

the point i was attempting to make is that a family making 100 grand, whether 1 or 2 wage earners, can probably afford insurance, and the poor most definitely can’t. it’s the working poor, the working lower (middle?) class who will take it on the chin.

nope i blame exactly who you do, the health care vampires. and yes, i do think the mandate is blatantly unconstitutional, no matter what the Supremes said. it’s really ironic, Democrats praising the Roberts court when it hands down a decision they like..

Yes there should be two systems: public and private. This trying to mix the two – with endless exemptions for Obama’s buddies – is a disaster. The two fold system was one of the high points of European style Socialism.

      Quoting John Eagan

“What ended up as the Affordable Care Act, better known by the name people insist on calling it, of “Obamacare”, was not the plan proposed by presidential candidate Obama in the 2008 election. That was tossed aside and replaced by a plan that was a recycled version of old plans that had been proposed years ago by politicians of the Republican party, and had in fact become law in the state of Massachussetts under Republican governor (and 2012 Republican nominee for president) Willard Romney.”

  6. BackRowHeckler October 28, 2013 at 10:51 am #

Jim, the newly appointed Federal Reserve Chief, if she is confirmed in January, seems committed to carrying Bernanke’s $85 billion per month Quantitative Easing Scheme far into the future. Where does this money come from, where does it go? I’m thinking a lot of it must go into underwriting all this Complexity in the economic and political spheres as described above.

      • HowardBeale October 28, 2013 at 9:07 pm #

        “…greatest scam in human history.”
That it is. And one can take solace in the fact that those receiving the magic money are, in my opinion, the most deceived of us all, as they are so well isolated from reality in their golden cocoons, they assume there will be someone to enforce their claims on the wealth stolen from the People; that there be a functioning system of “property” records (all kinds) that will verify their claims to those who won’t have any interest in enforcing them; and that there will be some kind of insulation from the wrath of the People when declaring themselves as the greatest thieves in the history of the world. There won’t. There won’t be any mechanism of wealth; there won’t be any living–after a short period of delusional claim making–claimants. Every “Wall Street” psychopath stupid enough to attempt to control more than the ground under his/her feet will be dead.

But until those days of disruption, it’s probably just going to be more of the same old mediocrity and if they occur, the crescendos will probably be lost in the mass illusionary manifestations.

No quality easing there and reruns won’t be enough to keep hungry and suddenly bored pitchfork wielding crowds off the street.

    Jim,
    You write of the Clusterfuck:

” These efforts to manage runaway hyper-complexity with more complexity are guaranteed to fail. Our prime task at this moment in history is managing contraction, and the means for doing that would be simplifying, not adding layers of complication larded with fraud, pretense, and mendacity.”

…So, thus will the layers be added by those who were carefully selected (by those benefiting from the status quo) to be ‘elected’ and their consequently appointed/hired minions. A fine idea for the curing of a crack addiction; apply ever more crack.

There is absolutely no incentive or imagination to deviate from the program. Though we bemoan an uncontrolled crash-dive, cork-screwing into the earth, that’s what we’re about to get, rather than taking the brave choice to shut down the engines and manage a nerve-wracking Sully Sullenberger glide into the Hudson.

I guess that’s the defining aspect that leads to the rise of the neo-fascist Savior Party: craven cowardice coupled with stone-stupid ignorance.

We appreciate your pointing these things out. Perhaps some of the smoke-smudged, blinking survivors will seize the opportunity to do things differently should they have some spark of ingenuity and critical thinking skills…

I’d like to think so too but we both know better as betrayed by your ‘perhaps’. If we don’t growl for ingenuity and critical thinking skills now it is not going to rise in the ashes of chaos. Chaos will breed more chaos and stone-stupid ignorance will rule the day.

Growl howl and call the bullshit now. Another chance will not come. We must provide the incentive to deviate from the program.

      By any means necessary.

“The more abstracted finance gets from real productive activity, the more fragile the system becomes. We are doing nothing now except adding more complexity and abstraction to it, causing the system to become more detached from reality. In effect, we’re opting to forego an economy based on goods in favor of one based on empty promises and paper swindles.” –JHK

Done and done, JHK. Just how much more abstracted from reality can this system become? We’re already well past this point, so I don’t understand why you continue to write as if we weren’t. Seems to me this nation and its people have been rather content living in a state of surreality for better than 30 years, but somehow, now, all this exceptionalism and excellent living is coming to an end? I’m not so sure that the tragedy that is contemporary industrial existence is nearing collapse; that would be something like poetic justice, and I don’t think the species has earned that level of grace. Nope, your prediction of a long emergency is far from being answered by an unmitigated collapse scenario. In fact, with regard to the U.S. and its cohort of elitist 1st world plunderers, the ability to continue extricating energy and introducing poison back to the environment in return has likely been ensured for a good clip longer, what with that dastardly technology we all hate to love doing exactly what we wish it couldn’t.

I guess there are two reasons why I’ll personally go out on a limb and say that 2014 will, in the words of Gerald Celente, be more of the same just worse (and with no collapse):
First, the U.S. has been mostly dethroned as a hegemonic force, which will oddly have the impact of actually speeding the voracious devouring of remaining energy resources, as competitor countries scale up their consumption in the new emerging Mega Economy, absent any moderating force such as WWIII. But we can cross our fingers for that anyway. This article I found just this morning gave me this hunch, that no major clashes between nations are on the horizon, but I’ll leave it to others to decide their personal take where the next war will occur.

    http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article36668.htm

Secondly, PCR and especially CAF have led me to think that no matter how absurd and corrupted the money shenanigans have become, no major economy can afford to survive without the others, because, after all, it takes large, open and available markets in order to sell all the worthless shit the industrialists wish to produce; so somehow, even though they’ll have to place brown paper bags over each others’ faces, producers and consumers are still gonna orgy their way into further ecological decline. Lastly, the “smart” ones who’ve carefully stashed whatever it ends up taking to escape into cyber consciousness and or the cosmos will unremorsefully abandon a hot, toxic, and putrid planet Earth like a used prophylactic.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gssxv35TA-8&feature=c4-overview&list=UUG-G8LLr38fQUNZU8K0t-EA

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for collapse, WWIII, and mass human extinction, but I don’t see any of it happening early enough to redeem us. No, as you’ve said, “Life is Tragic” and not necessarily because it ends too soon, but rather because it goes on long enough. Economic Collapse would be too good of an ending to the farce of our own willful indulgence. Now, Near Term (human) Extinction, that’d be something approaching poetry, but we’ll just have to see what Nature has in store.

The most amusing part of the article is where the moron that wrote it claims that the chinese view the Russians eith an elder sister status. Until the fall of the USSR the Chinese devoted well over half of the Army to there Russian Chinese border areas. It was the collapse of the USSR that enabled them to start to develop a blue water navy. Russian/ Chinese relations are strained at best lol! As for Chinese warships supporting Russian ships its common knowledge that China ONLY significant international deployment is two destroyers on escort duties against pirates along the north african coast. 5 minutes on Janes would tell you that.

How could mass human extinction “save us”? Does that make sense? Who is the us?

      • WW October 28, 2013 at 3:06 pm #

People that make such statements Janos either believe themselves to be of significant use to the ‘grand plan’ that they will be saved or they are mentally defective. Not being able to concieve of the hardships and suffering such a mass collapse will bring certainly displays a very limited mind. Being effectively one of the most spoiled nations in the world the american people would be harder hit than most yet such fools desire such an outcome.

        • CoalMineCanary October 28, 2013 at 4:23 pm #

I am not “mentally defective” nor do I consider myself “special”, of “significant use”, deserving to be saved.

Of course I am aware of the hardships and suffering involved with “mass collapse”- but will there be less “hardships” and “suffering” associated with a collapse at 9 billion people as opposed to 7 billion, or more? Since we don’t seem capable of putting the brakes on breeding and on population growth, nature will do it for us- but I’m afraid that won’t happen before the cancer that is humanity has ruined this planet.

    Jim,
Ps. Your first paragraph outlines a deceased horse that I’ve been beating for the past couple years. (A few scattered shards of bone are all that’s left.) Namely, the desperate race between full-spectrum dominance and the collapse of the means to support it. You’ve said it very neatly, thank you.

For what is perhaps an imperative perspective on how the unilateral might of the US went extinct in September (in what seems to be the blink of an eye) we have this from a [former?] correspondent for Haaretz in Moscow:

    http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article36668.htm

“The most dramatic event of September 2013 was the high-noon stand-off near the Levantine shore, with five US destroyers pointing their Tomahawks towards Damascus and facing them – the Russian flotilla of eleven ships led by the carrier-killer Missile Cruiser Moskva and supported by Chinese warships. Apparently, two missiles were launched towards the Syrian coast, and both failed to reach their destination.”

The cascading series of events that followed is indeed instructive. Stick a fork in the empire, it’s done. (Not that these nasty and dangerous provocations won’t continue to be tried; the ‘success’ rate has been very high, IN THE PAST, and the military is the most entrenched and heavily invested in the school of not learning the lessons of history.)

  13. selaretus October 28, 2013 at 11:55 am #

“Our prime task at this moment in history is managing contraction, and the means for doing that would be simplifying, not adding layers of complication larded with fraud, pretense, and mendacity.”

You are very right, of course, Jim, but this concept; that growth cannot and will not continue forever, is unimaginable and untenable to cornucopian America. We’ve simply to find another alternative energy source and/or drill endless wells into the oil sludge Bakken fields to become ‘energy independent’ and to ‘spark growth’ as Oboob has said.
I have conversation with people whose stock portfolios are ‘up 25%’ this year or so they say. What they cannot and will not grasp is that soon all that artificial wealth will vaporize back into the thin air from which it was created; initiating a vast selling ‘bear’ market unlike any seen before, only this time there will be no buyers…..ever. That is when the proverbial shit will hit the fan: when those of us who think they are wealthy find out they have no more actual wealth than those with no portfolios.

I’m thinking a lot of it must go into underwriting all this Complexity in the economic and political spheres as described above.”-BRH

Keystrokes of genius here, BRH. Follow the money, right? These longtime astronomical figures have benefited someone, and “they’re” not likely to have collected all this virtual money only to allow it to become useless post collapse. They might be stupid in the inhumane sense, but their greed would never allow such effort to preserve “wealth” go to waste. Just look at the same insatiable greed that motivates all the PM stackers, who actually bet on collapse alongside a fantasy that they might become rich in the process. See Gregory Mannarino and like minded paranoiacs for comparison. Ego is a bitch, right?

Yes few are canny enough or courageous enough to follow the money. They seem to know somehow that they wont like what they will find. The Russian Revolution was funded by the Bankers – as was Obama.

People prefer to believe that workers with hammers and farmers with mattocks overthrew a well armed ancient regime. A faery tale just like the cult of Obama.

“the same insatiable greed that motivates all the PM stackers, who actually bet on collapse alongside a fantasy that they might become rich in the process.”

Well, maybe not all. Some of us actually believe that PM’s are the only store of value that does not have a counterclaim against it. I for one could not care less what dollar, yen, ruble, Euro, or whatever reference presently exists or do I care what future currency reference may exist, although I have faith that there will be a reference. So yes it all goes back to a form of faith, which is not rational.

As for betting on collapse I perceive PM’s to be a form of insurance based on the faith above. I don’t relish the notion. I’d rather be 8 years old again and a believer in the infinite possibilities of myself and the universe.

Real Estate in the USA has a State claim against it. Dollars in the bank are the property of the bank and can be rehypothecated by the bank to cover their losses. Maybe securities in your possession are in fact yours – like PM’s – but it seems to me you must defend your claim from the predations of others while hoping that the partial ownership of the corporate enterprise will have future value. That requires faith in management, markets, and countless other factors.

However, I agree that those in financial publishing who write: “End of the world imminent! How you can profit!” deserve nothing but laughter.

Hello, Canada restricts immigration to smart people in general and exports a shit load of stuff to the world.

Anyway enough of that standard political fare. But here is the deal that I am going to explain to you Kossacks. Once the idiot charlatan right wing in this country fails in their usual scam of blame the Great Leader and send us money to curse Obama and the country continues on its slide (it will) the unwashed masses will start to turn their attentions to basically YOU.

Fair enough, BTB. Thanks for the grammar call out. As I remember, I wrote the phrase initially as just mass extinction, then I added human, because there needs to be an emphasis on human extinction; the emphasis has been for too long on all the other species of the planet; it would be only fair to allow humans the lead for a change. It was a brain fart to write it as I did nonetheless, the trouble with not relying on spell check or grammar check.

And with due respect, I don’t share your sensitivity or sense of self-pity with regard to death. I’ve learned not to shoulder the burden of saving the world or even loved ones, as it is the height of narcissism to think we can control the destiny of others. You said,”The diminishing returns of computer technology applied to intelligence gathering are that it produces more mountains of data than any team of professionals can make sense of. . . ”
Perhaps this is true, but does it matter? And anyway, the point of the computer in the first place is to eliminate the need for human input as much as possible. If this causes some false positives in the process, so what? Intimidation may be just a valuable to the cause as discovery (and is currently being put to good use).

Oh, and separate but still related note to the whole notion of collapse, ecological collapse via the *global warming hoax*, here’s some interesting tidbits snipped from NBL comments regarding an ongoing methane release positive feedback?

    http://arctic-news.blogspot.co.nz/2013/10/epic-methane-releases-from-east-siberian-arctic-shelf.html

    http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/IOTD/view.php?id=7970

The first is a photo of purported methane release due to decaying sub sea permafrost apparently underway now. I’m going to follow this to see whether it persists.

The second is a pair of snapshots demonstrating 2007 ice retreat in the East Siberian Sea, the same area depicted in the methane release photo. As the weather men on teevee say, there ain’t nothing to bother about cuz the weather changes from time to time – sick-cluck-lee – I think is the technu-cull term they use. I believe this area has froze back over since then, as is normal, but it’s a matter of frequency and duration of thawing that’s of interest, no?

Anyhow, there’s usually a two link limit here, so in another poast I’ll include an old research article as a starting point for the investigative snoops on CFN – a third link. From there contra-indicative follow-up research can be found if interested, if it exists.

So everyone in the USA has to ante up for health care or walk the plank.

Unless, you qualify for Medicaid, a program that twenty seven states are NOT going to expand. I don’t understand how the Affordable Health Care Act will work without this happening. In my state, the cut off for Medicaid is a little more than $4600.

And all of this is happening right before the biggest Hold Your Breath moment in the history of the modern world.

Next month the Masters of Cheap Engineering, TEPCO, will start to remove used fuel rods from the top of a structurally shakey reactor building.

Then they will have to “find” and retrieve the three missing reactor cores.

Nothing like this has ever been attempted.

The people that will be doing the actual work will almost certainly die from exposure.

    ===========

Kindly explain this $4,600 figure in more detail. Does this mean $4,600 of income per month? Or do you mean total assets like stocks, bank accounts, life insurance, etc. What state are you referring to?

I ask because on Oct 31st my wife and I are meeting with the local (central NJ) Medicaid Office to apply for Medicaid on behalf of my Mother-in-Law. We fear she may never recover sufficiently from her broken hip to spend her remaining years (months? days?) living in our home. She is 91. I spent a couple of days gathering/copying myriad documents related to both assets and income but I have no idea what the thresholds are.

With Medicaid we may be able to get her into one of those awful nursing homes where the stench of urine when you come through the front door to visit your old relative could knock a buzzard off a shit pile. In 1995 my own mother expired at age 84 in such a place in Florida.

Yes, she has Medicare coverage but that only lasts for some limited amount of time. Medicare pays for a limited time in, for example, a rehab facility but doesn’t pay for ongoing institutionalization in a nursing home. That is paid for by the money one has accumulated over a lifetime and/or by Medicaid which is a more permanent program, if I understand correctly. I’ll know more by noon on Thursday.

I detect a note of defensiveness in your replies. You seem to have gone over the top a little, as if you got angrier and angrier after you spent more time thinking about my comment. I just made a correction, a minor thing, and you responded by saying I’m in despair, have self pity, display egoist bullshit, try to save the world and then bring my generation into your reply. WTF, lol. Save the overkill for something important.

At least you’ll be remembered for something. I have a feeling it is better to be a verb rather than an adjective or an expletive (e.g., what the Q are you talking about?).

I watched only 3 mins of this 46 minute Catherine Austin Fitts YouTube because I couldn’t take it anymore. Every 5 seconds or so she would stop looking at the camera (i.e. her audience) and would look down in the vicinity of her right hand. I kept thinking maybe she was simultaneously checking her email, tweeting or text messaging someone. My daughter does the same thing when I have a conversation with her. There is no such thing as having someone’s “undivided attention” anymore. Sorry, I find this insulting and won’t be a part of it. Too bad too, she might have had something profound to convey.

    • K-Dog October 28, 2013 at 6:41 pm #

You insufferable pendant. How about putting on a blindfold and trying again. You can take it off halfway through she either stopped or I got used to it.

      • K-Dog October 28, 2013 at 6:44 pm #

I probably should have a comment after halfway through. Or better yet split it into two sentences. Not knowing grammar perhaps you could explain which would have been better and why.

        • K-Dog October 28, 2013 at 6:52 pm #

Ooops It’s Pedants not Pendant. I guess the only thing hanging down is my head in shame.

          • K-Dog October 28, 2013 at 6:54 pm #

Ooops should be singular not plural:

            Pedant:

A pedant is a person who is excessively concerned with formalism and precision, or who makes an ostentatious and arrogant show of learning.

          • Janos Skorenzy October 28, 2013 at 8:26 pm #

When people launch grammar attacks, they often make mistakes because they are out of step with the Tao. It may well be the same on the street. Of course the defender has to be able to take advantage of these…

          • hineshammer October 28, 2013 at 8:53 pm #

Ooops. I believe you meant to type the word “comma”, not “comment”.

          • K-Dog October 28, 2013 at 9:50 pm #

The Tao that can be explained in words is not the true Tao. Consequently having grammatical errors or not has nothing to do with the Tao.

  33. DennyO October 28, 2013 at 6:45 pm #

I watched 60 minutes interview last night with James Morrell, the recently retired deputy chief of the CIA. He re-iterated the mantra of Snowden as a traitor to his country. But, one has to ask how bizarre the critical data access controls were effected at the NSA that a fairly new contractor was able to access all that data in the first place. For instance Morrell stated that Snowden was able to access information that was normally reserved only for the highest echelon of NSA and CIA management. Stuff like proejct rankings for grwoth or elimination that they would only discuss in a lead lined room, with nobody allowed in with a cell phone.

So, who was the real culprit here? I understand that there are close to a million people, most of them contractors, not even career employees of the government, who have supposedly “top secret” security clearance. Is this for real? If it wasn’t so serious it would make a great Monty Python skit.

    • K-Dog October 28, 2013 at 6:58 pm #

Re-iterate the mantra often enough and it will be believed.

    • Janos Skorenzy October 28, 2013 at 7:55 pm #

People in Washington have lost all perspective. These Agencies have done so many immoral things, Snowden merely brought them to light. By their attitudes, they have become the domestic enemies of the Constitution and the American People.

    • ozone October 28, 2013 at 8:53 pm #

According to some accounts, that would be in the neighborhood of 4.8 million willing belly-crawlers on the payroll with “secret” security clearance and instructions to sniff everyone’s crotches. That would be about 1.5% of the US population, so not close to Stasi levels… yet. When the Savior Party gets the go-ahead to take the reins we’ll see those numbers climb to a more respectable level.
Don’t worry though, they’re just following orders.

      • K-Dog October 28, 2013 at 10:11 pm #

Hitler’s Gestapo policed 80 million Germans with a force of 40,000. That is one per two thousand citizens. The Stasi kept 17 million people in line with 102,000 officials. That is one per 167 citizens. If informants are figured in the number drops to less than one in seventy.

313 million / 4.8 million is one in 65. Those are Stasi numbers indeed. Now not all 4.8 million with “secret” security clearance are currently spying on us but your argument I take is that for a nickel or a dime they would.

So to the question of ‘could it happen in America’ ? The answer is goddamn right it could. Are we already over Gestapo levels? I don’t know. Perhaps we should ask Barack, I think he knows.

Now about this sniffing of crotches analogy. Can you please find a different one next time!

I don’t have to explain why.

Nice week’s work, JHK. Thanks, as always.

And you are precisely on the mark in your analysis of Obamacare, and of the excesses of the Spy State. I do disagree with you in one area, though:

“The attempt at maximum control will eventually lead to maximum resistance and, quite possibly, some sort of political revolution, perhaps starting with the death of the two dominant political parties.”
    ….jhk….

You imply that these deaths of Dem’s and Repub’s will be simultaneous. We can only WISH this to be so!

The Repub’s are already as good as dead. The Dem’s are likely to survive for another decade or so. This is unfortunate, as it will enable the Dem’s to perform some SERIOUS overpopulation of the United States – numbers of new immigrants that will do serious damage to world ecosystems, among other problems that are about to outpace possible solution.

Here – a bunch of you might enjoy this.

This was a well made doc. For an apparently recent film it does tread familiar ground, not a whole lot of new or really penetrating information but dead on even so. It’s soft partiality to the Classical Capitalism model espoused by Smith and then twisted by Friedman in Neoclassic adaptation was a bit too simplistic, but still reasonable. I just don’t understand the tendency of some who suggest, somehow, if only we could go back to a pure form of whatever social ideology one might name, things would be better. There’s no going backward and I’m sure the voices presented in the film understand this. Clinging to old ideas is a recipe for extinction in every case.

Thanks, or should I say ribbit?

I watched the whole thing and the four horsemen are.

        1) A rapacious financial system.
        2) Escalating organized violence.
        3) Abject poverty for billions.
        4) The exhaustion of the earth’s resources.

I agree with you that is was a well made documentary and worth watching. Dead on it was and while for you and I it treads familiar ground for others it may not. It does focus on a return to classical economic theory and the elimination of fiat currency as the solution to our problems overall which I agree is simplistic.

That said I found after the initial economics lesson it just got better and better. The presentations by the deep the thinkers, the quotes, and the background knowledge given make it worth watching all by itself. I’d give it 4.5 stars out of 5. I say that not just because it has several dogs which I hold in very high esteem in it. The points it makes are excellent.

Two paws up and ribbit ribbit.

OK – why do some youtubes post with a simple web address, while others (like the one just above) post with the big headers that JHK, presumably, does not like?

    • K-Dog October 29, 2013 at 2:02 pm #

Because there is some third party software on the site that allows youtubes to embed by just dropping a youtube URL in place of the youtube embed code which is the more typical way of doing it. I looked at the raw HTML on the site when it was changed to the new format some time ago which is why I can answer the question.

Concerning youtubes I don’t speak for JHK but this is what I suspect he thinks of them.

A small number of appropriate videos such have been placed on the site this week is probably fine. But agent provacateurs come here to suppress out of the mainstream ideas such are presented in the video you embedded above.

These provacateurs were using essentially random youtube clips to fill the comment space up with garbage attempting to break up the flow of discussion and hide points of view which they did not like.

Powerful forces are here to suppress democracy and to maintain the status-quo power structure as it is.

Part of the war on terror it appears to me is to protect us from ourselves and inhibit dissent from the party line.

Before the site changed format huge blocks of Chinese text were dropped on the site whenever a point of view critical to existing power structure was presented making any such dissenting point of view impossible to see without great effort. The new format makes it harder for such activity to happen.

I repeat I am not speaking for JHK and invite him to correct me if he disagrees.

I am surprised there has been no mention in this comments section of the mayoral contest in NYC. I find it interesting that Bill de Blasio has had 3 different legal names. The story behind the name changes may be found at this link:

    http://www.nydailynews.com/news/election/de-blasio-names-de-blasio-article-1.1463591

My personal experience with persons who have changed their names due to a troubled family life was that they continued in some way to be “troubled.”

I also find it “interesting” that de Blasio is married to a black woman, Chirlane McCray, who “used to be” for many years an “out” lesbian. (Google “Chirlane McCray biography” for the full story of this switch hitter). I swear, you can’t make shit like this up.

Been reading a recent edition of The Sunflower. The Jews have an idea I kind of like: that murder cannot be forgiven since the only one who can forgive is the victim who is no longer around. Even God cannot forgive so precious is the individual. Weisenthal relates his experience of listening to a dying Nazi’s confession and then instead of forgiving or condemning, just walks away. He expresses his disgust and the above idea, yet he is clearly troubled and offers the Koan to the World: what would you have done in my place.

Most Jews agree with the Idea and with his refusal, some even going farther. Most Christians say it is our duty to forgive no matter what.

Nowhere is the Old Testament is this Idea to be found. Ezechiel says clearly that God can and will forgive any sin and even though you sins be as scarlet, you can be made as white as snow. But Christians are wrong too – often forgiving people who aren’t even sorry. Even God can’t or wont do that. I once say a clip of relatives calling up to perpetrator that they forgave him after a verdict was read. I got the impression that they hadn’t even mourned yet. Very weird. I prefer the Jewish way to this – even if theologically incorrect. At least it’s human and dignified. From their point of view, to forgive a murderer for the murder of your child is to make your child into less than a person and just your property.

    • K-Dog October 29, 2013 at 2:31 pm #

“Most Christians say it is our duty to forgive no matter what.”

I don’t know about that, perhaps that is true of a real Christian of which there are few and far between IMHO.

You know no such thing. I disagree with you, that’s all. Stop slandering me. Do you think Whites who say Blacks can run faster should be persecuted?

        • K-Dog October 29, 2013 at 3:32 pm #

As a matter of fact it would be a good idea.

Some white people can run faster than some black people and some black people can run faster than some white people.

Your purpose here is to make people who come here of any color feel unclean for coming here in the first place so they go away. Your overt racism consists of fighting words and fighting words are the basis for a lawsuit.

fighting words n. words intentionally directed toward another person which are so nasty and full of malice as to cause the hearer to suffer emotional distress or incite him/her to immediately retaliate physically (hit, stab, shoot, etc.) While such words are not an excuse or defense for a retaliatory assault and battery, if they are threatening they can form the basis for a lawsuit for assault.

Fitts has the floor from 2:00 on to 3:09, the very point at which I actually clicked the return arrow to bail out, (note: I rounded off and called it 3 minutes so readers wouldn’t have to suffer my pedantry) Fitts diverts her eyes toward her right hand and back to the camera exactly 10 times. So, let’s see, Fitts averaged 6.9 seconds per eye diversion. I said it was every 5 seconds. Let’s call that hyperbole for the sake of emphasis. Ya caught me.

I will never know for sure, however, since I have twice viewed the video only up to the 3:09 mark, where the disrespect became overwhelming, and have no intention of going further (farther?).

    Orthogonal,

Beside the imperfections of the Austin Fitts delivery, which I gather has no relevance here to anyone but me, there is your complaint that I am telling very personal anecdotes that have no relevance to CFN themes. I couldn’t disagree more.

The institutionalization of growing hordes of old people who have managed with the assistance of technology and an ever-expanding government safety net paid for by a shrinking percentage of young to live far beyond their sell-by dates, albeit with less than zero quality of life, is the most relevant and current topic related to the collapse Kunstler envisions that I can think of.

    • UnstoppableFarceImmovableAbject October 29, 2013 at 3:59 pm #

Then go ‘head and shoot yourself since you recognize that your sell-by date has come. Do us younger people a solid, eh? Or at the very least have the decency to pay for your own healthcare entirely.

Based on the silliness of the above I gather you’re oblivious to what’s going on in the NYC Mayoral race. That’s OK. We who live in near proximity to the Big Apple tend to become NY chauvinists. We think people around the globe know and care about what is happening with NY politics, the NY Giants, the NY Yankees, etc while WE are unable to locate St Louis or Seattle on a map.

Anyway, concerning Mrs. de Blasio’s sexual orientation, do as I originally suggested. Google “Chirlane McCray biography” and read all about it.

If you haven’t noticed, the de Blasios have two teenage kids, a boy and a girl – roughly the color of Obama. The boy has a large afro reminiscent of Billy Ocean and he and his hair get lots of credit for the overwhelming lead his father has in the polls.

Centuries from now, anthropologists will find an unpleasant brown skinned population subsisting in the ruins. They will have an odd accent unlike other East Coast brown tribes.

No way. You’d have to up the game quite a bit to rattle my bones and anything you do is going to go public. I’ve already survived the shock and awe treatment and your not going to get me to believe that I’m being irradiated with energy weapons from circulating aircraft like you’ve done to others. Always fun to make them look like raving lunatics isn’t it you sick asshats.

I’m a hard case and not the pushover Wage Laborer apparently was. I should have listened to what she was saying before I found out firsthand. At the time I did not think such a thing was possible. Best you boys put up with me or better yet help me get a job so I’m not here so damn much. I am looking but you already know that. Better yet Benjamins baby and lots of them if you really want me out of here.

Gaslighting ha, you’ve already tried that and I’m still here. Lately you’ve been playing into my hands. Ever think of that you one trick pony? You’ve made a few mistakes lately. Say hello to David for me.

Kind of dumb on your part to even mention gaslighting.

        • Janos Skorenzy October 29, 2013 at 11:43 pm #

As I was saying. Telling someone like you that they are being gaslighted is the first step in doing so – assuming I was doing so which I’m not.

Wage would eat you for breakfast. Assuming that I drove her out is a new one even for you. I had no such intention and have no such power. I admire Puritan Ferocity in women though I would never want to be involved with such a person. So it’s from afar.

Just had an idea for your situation. My Dad went to a Catholic Nursing Home. No smell of urine at all. The staff was really nice. I wouldn’t be surprised if they do a much better job than most others at the same price levels. They always had that tradition in education – with even atheists and prods sending their kids to their schools.

I bet you could find something like this in New York or Phillie – assuming they still have their own Catholic Health Care systems. Obviously look for mostly White nurses. A few Haitian Catholics are fine as long as they are kept up to standard by the Irish and Italians.

      Greetings from San Jose!

Thought I’d share my recent experiences with Obamacare and health insurance. We have AARP insurance via Aetna, and were notified in April that they would not offer anything in California starting 1/1/14. Good riddance. My advice, don’t by any insurance through AARP because its a racket that just adds another layer of bullshit to medical insurance. Since my husband retired from Intel, we’ve been paying $1,500 a month for a family of 4.

The good news is that at least in California, the online system is working fine. We have two options: Kaiser or Anthem Blue Cross. It looks like we’ll be paying $900 a month for Blue Cross. Seems like a good deal to me. Friends have registered through the CA website and no one has reported any problems. Our only other option is Intel’s retirement health insurance, which costs $2800 per month.

      Take care, San Jose Mom

I feel for the “y00tz,” (youths) uninsured and burdened with $20k+++ student loans that last forever (i.e. beyond bankruptcy), uninsured but now required to spend another $2k+++/year on insurance or IRS penalty, and mostly unemployed/underemployed (e.g. flippin’ burgers for min wage)… ObamaCare is a Repubnicant (oops, *BANNED*) “WET DREAM,” for the corporate racket (30-50 million *new* subscribers, who are going to be the youngest/most healthy in the *POOL*)…

Of course our population has to be controlled and of course I don’t want more Blacks – but if we separate from them, that will be their business. A woman can abstain, use various form of birth control, or give the baby up for adoption. What is the need for the final and fatal choice which makes her into a God and brings back the worst of the Ancient World?

The original form of the Hippocratic Oath forbids it specifically. But of course doctors aren’t living up to hardly any of the other provisions either.

I thought Southern Baptists were really, really conservative. There must be more than one Church under that name.

A Wall, of course, is an obstacle intended to exclude people, keep people out and/or keep people inside (for example, a prison).

A Street is a means of transportation for people to move from one place to another and to provide access.

Problems of the Duopoly in the USA
    _____________________
It seems to me …as an Australian with a special interest in the USA and family there…that one problem you face it that’s i’s hard for new political parties to ever get onto the ballot and get into legislatures

Here in Oz new parties can be formed easilky and registered and gain a place on the ballot paper and sometime win seats and influence governments if they complie with the” electoral laws”which are quite strictly enforced…failure to do that can involve jailing

The Greens .,,,after two decades of growth get about 10% of the total vote and have 10 senators in a Senate of 76 members..and some seats in all state legislatures

We also have times when single independents can win a lower house seat if popular locally …in a recent time we had a Labor Govt federally depending on the votes of several of a half dozen “independent :Members of the HoReps…and it survived the full 3 year term in that basis

About 2o% of the entire national; vote at the recent election went to minor parties,,,the Labor/Conservative/ parties shared the other 80% of the total votes between them

All this makes for a more vibrant demoicracy

How many US voters would vote for other pariies if they were on the ballot and had a chance of winning ??
    here that’s easy to do
In the House district in which I live there were 12 candidates at the recent elections. to elect one member….one each from Green//Labor/Conservatives and the rest from Indies and minor parties

We also have a preferential system…if you vote for a minor candidate who is unlikely to win you may indicate that you second pref is for one of the major parties…so the prefs of the minor parties are then of value in the final result of the counting

Voting in Oz is compulsory and one is fined $50 for not voting…one can turn up at the polling booth/station on the day or vote early in the 14 days prior…or have a postal vote…no machines are used, though the “roll” of voters is on computor when one goes to vote.. but one votes.on a paper ballot for House and Senate

I voted this time for the
Greens who won one of the Six senate seats in my state
They have a range of progressive policies on the environment and social issues and are to the left of the Labor Party which had held govt for two terms with Green support in House and Senate

None of this is possible under the US electoral system,
Even in Europe there are often a range of minor parties which can effect the major parties of the duopoly in the legislature

    • K-Dog October 30, 2013 at 10:20 am #

What is your opinion of the $50 fine. Do you think that it encourages civic awareness or has no effect. I’m guessing most dislike the fine but I don’t know never having been there to find out.

Not advocating one way or another here but I’m thinking if we had such a fine in America the current drive towards having an exclusively postal vote system sans voting booths would have to stop. In my opinion that would be a good thing.

How can a nation expect to develop a voting habit in the young when all voting is done via the mails such as is the case where I live in King County WA. As no example is being set a nation that does not vote must surely result.

    • lsjogren October 30, 2013 at 10:32 am #

It would be nice to have more vibrant minor parties in the US, but if our system gave minor parties a better shot, it wouldn’t help much if it is just batshit crazy minor parties like the Greens and Libertarians. They make the Democrats and Republicans almost look halfway sane.

    • Janos Skorenzy October 30, 2013 at 2:09 pm #

Yes the duopoly is a work of genius in the realm of human control. It ties into the lower mind that always divides experience into two: yes/no, black/white, good/bad, big/small, etc. No in betweens or shades of grey permitted. Your side is absolutely good and the other the epitome of evil.

Even one third party would help break the log jam. But people scream that such a party, or even slightly loose canons in their party help the Evil ones win. Democrats still hate Ralph Nader. Thus the Secret Government rolls on getting stronger and stronger with amazingly little opposition. People don’t hate what can they can’t see – they hate the “other”.

    • ZrCrypDiK October 31, 2013 at 11:55 pm #

Too easy to make voting non-riggable, vis-a-vis the RSA encryption scheme. Obviously, the reason *that* hasn’t been implemented, *NE-WAREZ* (I proposed said-same in 2005, and it wouldn’t take *5 years* to code [NE software project requiring more than 6 months is an on-the-dole, no-bid-cost-plus contract {btw, why’d we hire a flunky Canadian software company to code ObamaCare, when they’d just been fired by the Canadian govt?}])…

“Wall Street” basically means “Obstructed Street”, or “Dead End Street”. Don’t you think that it’s a bit odd that the name of the center of the international ca,,pi,,tal, ist system is called “Dead End Street”?

At the entrance to Wall Street in New York City, there’s a giant bronze bull. The Chinese tourists all rub the Bull’s balls for good luck. As a result, the Bull’s balls are bright and shiny.

For some reason, however, the person who originally cast the bronze Bull neglected to give the Bull a Dick. Where’s the Good Luck in that?!

    • K-Dog October 30, 2013 at 9:25 am #

As with many famous streets, Wall Street’s origins have historical roots. The name is a reference to a wall which was erected by the Dutch settlers on the southern tip of Manhattan Island in the 17th century. At that time there was a war going on between the English and Dutch so the Dutch built a defensive wall to protect themselves. Years after its removal it left a legacy behind in the Streets name.

One of the several agent povacateurs now here claims to know all about tourists of a certain ethnicity having a penchant for polishing brass ass as if he had been to Wall street himself.

If he had been he would have certainly seen the:

      Wall Street History Plaque”

It now appears to be the time of the week when any meaningful discussion of anything of significance here at CFN has passed and any purther comments will be nothing more than a lot of BULL.

” The smaller number of surviving humans will surely enjoy better health”

Ah, I see that JHK is aware that there will be less humans in a “world made by hand”.

I have had the feeling that he hasn’t wanted to “go there” for fear people will put their hands over their ears regarding the fact that current human civilization is unsustainable if they realize that one of the aspects of that is that the human population that the planet will be able to sustain going forward is far lower than the current 7 billion and rising.

But I see that he is indeed well aware of the tragic “die off” that is coming.

    • K-Dog October 30, 2013 at 11:35 am #

Besides which dead people in novels don’t say very much and aren’t very interesting characters. A related phenomena happens on talk radio. Sometimes characters there would be better off saying nothing at all but silence on a radio does not work.

Your feeling that he hasn’t wanted to “go there” for fear people will put their hands over their ears is astute. If people wanted to go there we’d all be dealing with our issues. We’d do what we can to lower the birth rate and doing everything we could to employ the country in sustainable industry and changing the ways we live. We would realize that we are all in this together.

But currently there is no smart phone app for that.

You know where else there is too much complexity? … in trying to get a job. I see what my young relatives have to go thru in order to find work. You can no longer just show up, fill out an application, talk to the foreman, and start the next day. A few decades ago I did just that, headed south thru Virginia, read in a local paper that they were hiring at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, applied, talked to the boss, and two days later started working as a welder’s helper. And this was at a DoD facility. No more. Now you have to apply on-line. Then if you’re lucky its 1, 2, or 3 interviews, Blood Test, Piss Test, Drug Test, Psychological workup, Credit check, Homeland Security investigation, FBI background check, State Police background Check, Local Police background Check, check your references, check former employers, fingerprinting, eye scanning, can you prove you’re a citizen?, Drivers License investigation etc … After all that, then, and only then, can you begin making sandwiches a Subway or Quizmos.

Lastly, why did you feel it was necessary to include the words “or progeny?” Aren’t children progeny?

Because I can use he word “progeny” to imply [that]i don’t give a fuck about you or your offspring either.

      I appreciate your concerns.

      Thanks

    ================

It’s obvious that any conversation we might have regarding the above wouldn’t go very far and could only end in acrimony………so, let me change the subject completely.

A few days ago you mentioned trying to teach yourself a programming language called Python. How is that going?

It got me interested enough to google it and look at various tutorials. One was titled something like “teach yourself Python in 24 hours.” I went to it and up came 24 blocks (I think). Presumably each block was going to be one hour of the 24 hours. I clicked on the first block which essentially told me to read an entire book by so-and-so. I went no further.

I will provide the link I’m speaking of in a separate post to follow momentarily.

    • K-Dog October 30, 2013 at 1:13 pm #

Probably right I did see a NOVA documentary early this summer on Netflix which showed that the NSA was fully monitoring Bin Lauden’s communications between Yemen and Afghanistan prior to 911 and that the NSA had actually tracked a couple of the hijackers who upon entering the U.S. would only provide the FBI with their first and not last names.

NOVA documentaries are not usually considered batshit crazy but enough of that.

It’s going well enough. It is hard to find a good tutorial that matches my skill level which is rather high. I’m using Dive Into Python 3. For me knowing 3 will be better than knowing 2. I can already program in traditional languages well but never paid attention to scripting languages as I should have and now need to pick one up to improve my job prospects.

Going well but I find so many other things interesting that it is hard to stay on task.

Then there are the zillion things I should be doing around the doghouse.

So why am I here? That’s a very good question.

Killer-Dog said: “One of the several agent povacateurs now here claims to know all about tourists of a certain ethnicity having a penchant for polishing brass ass as if he had been to Wall street himself.”

Yes, I’ve been to Wall Street, and yes I even managed to massage the Bull’s balls for Good Luck. I mean, why pass up the chance?! But I took the chance to look under there to confirm that the bronze Bulls got no “Tackle”.

The question is not a history lesson, but rather a simple question as to why people tend to use words, which have particular meanings, to describe people and things? For example, the use ofthe word “dog” (a promiscous animal) to describe male “gangstas” and female “bitchas” in “Ghettonese”?

Here, “Wall Street” literally means “Dead End Street”, or “Road to Nowhere.” Strange….

    • beantownbill. October 30, 2013 at 12:35 pm #

  72. Pucker October 30, 2013 at 12:33 pm #

In Chinese culture words are thought to have spiritual power. Therefore, it’s very important to be careful in what appellations are given to people and objects. For example, if one names another person a “dog”, then he/she would tend to assume the attributes of the animal. In Chinese culture, a dog is considered an excessively servile and promiscous animal. Not good…..

Thus, use of the negative labels of “dog”, “ho”, “bitch”, “gangsta, etc. in Ghettonese are troublesome because in applying these names to people the ghetto culture would tend to produce people who really are dogs, whores, bitches, and gangsters. Not good….

One needs to think critically about what words one uses because words have spiritual power.

    • K-Dog October 30, 2013 at 1:32 pm #

And what is the spiritual power of Pucker?

      • ozone October 30, 2013 at 2:06 pm #

The sudden onset of Fear makes the anal sphincter “pucker”; close tight and fight. (Okay, sometimes it makes it open wide; drop shit and git.) This is the physical manifestation of the spiritual goad. Fear is contagious (likely by olfactory means), and in the end, fear [surely] is the mind-killer.
Pucker up, it’s almost panic time!

Killer Dog asked: “And what is the spiritual power of Pucker?”

The appellation “Pucker” would tend to elicit a spirit that likes to tell jokes.

The name “Killer Dog” (or K-Dog) would tend to produce someone who is a “bad gangsta” who is somewhat belligerent and who likes to hump “bitchas” in heat.

What if the Imperial Bank of Lackawanna, that you and your daddy have been dealing with for 50 years, were to suddenly skip town? What if the Fed were to say “Imperial Bank of Lackawanna? We have no record.” What if the FDIC were to say “Sorry, no can do. We don’t have the manpower.”

Can’t happen? Why not? The boundaries of permissible behavior is steadily expanding to not only include the previously impermissible but also the utterly unthinkable. For example, the state is supposed to provide free public education. But is it?

For example, they apparently aren’t bothering to teach kids cursive writing anymore. Why not? Is it too much trouble? How do people write exams nowadays? Is a three hour exam, that we used to have to scramble to finish using cursive script in the good old days, so dumbed down that semi-literates can slowly print their answers, you know, like third graders?

If the evident degradation of performance and standards can happen to the education system, why not the banking sytem? Or the judicial system?

The banking system, like the education system, is only as good or as bad as the people working for it. It all relies on the honesty and diligence of those people. Do you think they’re honest and diligent?

Outright, bald-faced theft is just outside the line right now. How do they bring it inside the line? Easy. They can re-define it. They can deny it was theft. They can deny there was any disappearance of depositor money. Sue us, they’ll say. Prove it in court. But what if Wall Street corrupts the judicial system? You’ll hear the financial police say, “sorry, we don’t pursue commercial disputes. We don’t have the manpower, nor the money, nor the expertise.”

Can’t happen? Why not? Wall Street perverted legislatures and the academy. Why not the police and judiciary?

Or they can claim that the disappearance of depositor money was an error. They’ll fix it. They’ll let you know if and when it’s all resolved. But do understand, these are complex matters and it could take time. A long, long time.

Can’t happen? Why not? Look at the trajectory of behavior and events.

Or they can say, that due to a corruption of data, they are unable to verify balances for these certain individuals. Terribly unfortunate thing this is. So, seeing as there’s an element of doubt, why don’t we come to an agreement? Come to us with five years worth of bank statements and we’ll pay 25 cents on the dollar. And if you don’t like it you can go piss up a rope.

Can’t happen? Why not? Banks are audited? So what? Accounting firms made every conceivable effort to make the legal profession look good. For years there was no omission or fraud too glaring to escape notice. Remember Enron and Worldcom? Remember the KPMG tax shelter fraud? Look at the mortgage debauchery. They didn’t see anything?

Yeah, I know, JPMorgan is forking over megabuck settlements for its various transgressions. But how much do they amount to in the JPM world of multi-billion dollar profits and oceans of cash flow? How much of JPM’s bad behavior in the recent past going to become business as usual to regulators? When do regulators start to worry more about their own future career than bank solvency? When do they just turn a blind eye? Will there develop a general consensus among the governing elite to just let the banks do what they want?

In short, when does the “out-of-bounds” turn into “well within bounds”?

No economist´s bullshit or other explanations that are absolutely disconnected from reality. I want to hear stories of people who survived, but bancrupted. We can still be happy, at least we have something to eat, and some shelter (probably in a gang driven neighborhood).

Just think about Canada – you will probably not be able to take a mortgage without getting married. One person can´t handle it. Or it would take more than 30 years. Imagine all the resources they are extracting, all the tax money they generate, but the only effect is that the housing is overpriced? And I don´t even mention education.. This is important. Seriously. It’s also funny. So click this link!

Since this is CFN, we are prone to charges and countercharges concerning racial difference. So I did a little google image research. And if one types in any particular search string into Google Image search, one is rewarded with approximately 350 images.

There are a LOT of Anglo Saxons pictured in the 350 images that are returned using the search string that I used, “wall street bull balls.”

The Anglo young man in the link above is performing a popular Anglo action, when confronted with large brass bull balls. I don’t know what this might mean, but another popular Anglo action is actually LICKING (or pretending to lick?) those goddam’ balls.

    What is wrong with us?

    ====================

NOW, please and on an unrelated note, all of you need to notice that the Wall Street bovine does have quite a package. It’s that triangular protrusion that looks similar in shape to the Indian subcontinent. I don’t know how all of you are missing that humongous bull penis sheath.

And now – most important of all – do any of you in the assembled gathering notice anything strange about the position of the
Wall Street bull’s tail, and its exposed anus?

Sorry Janos, but you’re totally wrong about this. You are making a religious determination that “life begins at conception,” which is not supported by reality.

The Republicans allied themselves with the “Religious Right” on abortion, and a couple of other divisive “social issues.”

Eating the unborn is already a practice in the East. How much you want to bet that it will someday come here? Will you partake? If not, why not? They aren’t human so enjoy!

I can’t imagine a culture prospering that gives women the power to kill their own children when they are inconvenient. If that’s another way of saying I don’t believe in Democracy, so be it. I’ve already made that clear. Read James Stephen’s “Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity” – a classic rebuttal of John Stuart Mill’s Liberalism – a Liberalism far more conservative and healthy than today “Conservatism”. Liberalism was wrong at its very conception: it radically overestimates the ordinary man and Mankind in general.

Thank you for answering Kdog. He actually thinks he’s a Liberal Free Thinker. They are simply Communists now.

It doesn’t matter now who wins since both Parties serve the Elite who want mass Amnesty – unless the Tea Party can overthrow the old guard in 2014. And even they want way more legal workers form abroad. I’m not sure if they then have the option of becoming citizens or not.

Dick Cheney’s throwing down the gauntlet in a way I haven’t witnessed a politician do so brazenly before; you just have to get past his heart transplant melodrama to view it. Dick said that he didn’t want to do the paper work, so at the end of each day he’d just break all pieces of scrap copper wire over 18 inches in half. Dick was very proud of himself for his cleverness.

“The only advice I can give is that when you hear the presstitute media smear a concern or explanation as “conspiracy theory,” have a closer look. The divergence between what is happening and what you are told is so vast that it pays to be suspicious, cynical even, of what “your” government and “your” presstitute media tell you. The chances are high that it is a lie.” -Paul Craig Roberts

    IMO, there’s some good advice.
Even though I believe he’s mistaken to bend his knee at the altar of Growth and thinks that Ronald Reagan was “betrayed” by Greenspan (et al.) for the benefit of Wall Street Cream-Skimmers, I have to keep in mind that, being an economist by profession, he has a blind spot regarding those shenanigans. (Sure, we all have ’em in one subject or another. It’s the degree of rigidity we bring to these carefully protected ideas that makes the difference between plausible and whacked.)

To paraphrase some recent wag: There are some things that are not ‘conspiracy theories’, they’re ‘conspiracy facts’.

So, does the nsa exist? I believe it’s eminently provable that it does, thus no “theory” that a huge government-sponsored hive of spies are busy spying on anything they’re told to spy upon.

Yes the true tao is not the written tao. And when somebody thinks they have all the answers very very bad things inevitably result. If there is but a single reality (which is in my mind dubious supposition) we can but see it through the distorted fog of our own perceptual apparatus. Thus we must never stop from exploring and seeking truth the most elusive of goddesses.

      Mornin, Oz.

PCR is a very interesting man. I too wonder how he looks back upon his service under Reagan. From listening to him I sense that he feels a deep sense of remorse and turmoil about it, while at the same time he is proud of his work combating stagflation. He was young and idealistic and likely didn’t realize that Regan’s mind was quickly turning to mush during his presidency and therefore didn’t realize he was being co-opted. I don’t know much about Reagan era politics, but from what little I’ve seen from old media it is very clear that he was a corny old fart by the time he took office. It seems too that voters back then were just as susceptible to soaring rhetoric as they were when Obama hit the scene. Glad I don’t vote; the embarrassment of such choices would be unbearable.

Anyhow, I never took 9/11 *Troofers* very seriously until PCR recently suggested a look at the latest film to be made on the matter with a link on his site. At the very least the film raises legitimate questions for which the American people should have all along demanded answers. Nevertheless, I don’t think 9/ll will ever be settled.

Oh, I’d be curious to know your thoughts about the Cheney interview. I wonder if his public disdain for Obama signals a heightened willingness or desire to set the public apart and possibly into volatile factions? In other words, if active politicians follow suit and suspend all pretenses of leadership etiquette aside, then does the country get another step closer to violent civil skirmishes, even outright Civil War? I think the sheeple are now too timid to consider enacting open revolt on their own, but I wonder if charismatic leaders will begin to emerge and flirt more explicitly with violent secession? Way out of my league in pondering such things however. Thanks, man.

Well i bought a copy of Bill McKibben’s new book ‘Honey and Oil’. Quite a catchy title. I didn’t know much about him — I have seen him mentioned here a time or two — but I’ve found out he is a pretty important guy. How do i know? He told me himself, in the book. He hangs out with Governors, hikes with Billionaire Hedge Fund Managers, Pals up with Al Gore and his bank account of $500 million, consorts with world leaders and heads of great religions, is buddies with the Hollywood Elite, and jets around the world, non-stop it seems, to Copenhagen, Rio, Istanbul, India, London, LA and New York. He is engaged on the important mission of SAVING THE EARTH, which excuses all this energy devouring jet travel. McKibben is a prof at Middlebury College in VT,, where the American upper class pay $50,000 per year so there kids can learn what a shitty place the USA is. I attended a similar school, in Middletown CT, so I have an idea what its all about.

The crux of the book is political activism to stop the Keystone XL pipeline … God’s work in other words, and saving the planet from greedy and rapacious oil companies. There is an unspoken belief that, in this nation of 320 million, we do not need oil because it is easily replaceable with solar and wind. I don’t know if he really believes this. He never really explains how ordinary people in the North would heat their homes in winter without petroleum, or how enough electricity could be generated without coal. Maybe it doesn’t matter. Who gives a shit if Joe Blow and his family in Worchester is freezing to death in February when you are engaged in the important work of SAVING THE EARTH. See, its the idea that matters most, the beautiful theory, in this case eliminating oil that is causing global warming, and driving the oil companies out of business. While McKibben and his ilk fly to climate change conferences around the world, eat roast duck on Al Gores yacht, drink white wine in Norman Lears’ Fabulous LA Mansion (‘grandest house in America’), while $50,000 per year undergrads host films hammering Exxon and BP at Middlebury, the rest of us, the unenlightened, the nobodies, do what? … Huddle in the dark, freezing and starving, waiting for spring when we can get busy dirt farming, all the while worshipping Gaya, the precious Earth Mother?

He also believes I believe (like all the enviro big wigs) in the Amnesty and adding a hundred million more people to the problem here. So how serious a man could he be?

Like Organized Labor before them, they sold out to fame and fortune without ever knowing they were doing so. No Pact with the Devil written in blood, just a gradual acceptance of the many pleasures this society affords.

It’s Gaia btw. Gaya is something else – birthplace of the Buddha perhaps? You hate that too. Good on you mate. The English soldiers came back from WW1 hating everyone except the Germans whom they thought were very brave. People nowadays are too weak to hate – so they assume therefore that they are higher than people who can.

BRH – All mainstream environmentalism is about fund-raising. And all US environmentalism is ultimately – USELESS/STUPID/MEANINGLESS – pick your adjective – unless it works to reduce population growth INSIDE the United States.

    ===============

That said – Keystone’s probably a bad idea on economic grounds, too. Eventually all the oil will be gone – and the US/world will have to run on renewable resources or DIE.

Wouldn’t it be better to hit that point with a little bit of oil left in the ground – somewhere in the North American landmass?

    BRH,

Not only is environmental activism a political joke, but so to is the present state of agriculture. However, all is well, because after this particular joker persuades that current methods of farming are absolutely devastating to the environment. He hen oddly invokes the usual techno-fantasy to suggest implementing hybridized farming and irrigation techniques to maintain these highly taxing human populations. From the video its quite clear that the man realizes that agriculture conduces to runaway population explosion and even bigger problems to begin with, so I didn’t really know what the hell to make of his conclusion. He blows all the usual smoke about the need for collaboration among the vested and competing interests i.e, Enviro-activists, Big Ag, etc. It seems what damage we do in burning carbon to feed cars is nothing in comparison to what we burn to feed mouth breathers like Janos.

It’s an old vid but the detail is rather elaborate and explanation clear.

Boosting production per unit area without change of lifestyle and addressing overpopulation only buys time, briefly postpones collapse, and makes the ultimate fall all the harder. It was a good talk and at the end when he says we have to get it right on our first and only chance is …. right on.

Back in the summer JHK revamped his site. In the old software one could write a comment with bolding, italics and blockquotes. In the new software one can ONLY create italics…at least that is my experience. Yet, every now and then someone mentions bolded words as in the excerpt above. As many times as I have inquired about this no one has ever given me a straight answer. Is it possible to bold words and if so, how? I have not seen a bolded word since the summer revamp.

In this particular case your experiences with the health system certainly relate to this weeks article and personal anecdotes relating to the ‘bigger picture’ seems fine to me. You could tell us how it was worse than being at the DMV.

You have not been making it a personal diary regarding your current family troubles in my opinion and I hope things are going as well as can be expected under the trying circumstances you are now dealing with.

Relating it to the bigger issues of health care in the USA should be fine. But then I’m not the boss. I’m just a dog who’s gotten comfortable in his own skin expressing my opinion.

That was a great Charlie Rose interview with Dick Cheney. Thank you.

It’s obvious that Dick Cheney is very detached from Reality. Of course, Dick’s a tragic figure, so he wouldn’t know or admit that he’s detached from Reality. In fact, I believe that detachment from Reality is defining criterion of psychosis? Obama’s obviously also detached from Reality. In fact, Obama claims that he has no idea what’s going on around him.

I read somewhere that these weirdos, like Cheney, who are/were members of Secret Societies (formal and informal) are given nicknames, or code names, like 007, or “M”, in those crappy James Bond movies. (Actually, first few original James Bond movies with Sean Connery were quite good.)

I recall that Dick Cheney’s secret society nickname was something like “Mordoch” or something?

Jeez…. Dick thinks that he’s some diabolical creature called “Mordoch” or something. Good Lord!

I wonder what “Barack Obama” means? I tried to find out once, but couldn’t. It’s obviously some African name.

It’s all so crazy and insane. You can’t even make it up!

They now torture people in the work place (stress and job insecurity), schools (boredom, sexual abuse, standardized testing, cyber porn), prisons, and Guantanamo and other rendition facilities. The literally torture people and justify it as a method for extracting the “Truth” from the victim. That’s what serial killers do—torture their victims before they kill ’em. Sick! The “Truth” is that torture is a method for eliciting Evil spirits. Love elicits Love and Compassion. Sadism breeds Sadism. That’s Mordoch’s goal—World Sadism. Auschwitz victims were interviewed once, and the researchers discovered that the victims all wanted to inflict the same torture on their tormentors as the victims received. Evil breeds by replicating itself in its victims. Dick Cheney’s goal is to spread Evil by victimizing people. Society has become a giant incubator of Evil.

Yes, I know this Dog but only the italics HTML works. The word bold does not appear bolded…at least on my monitor it doesn’t. I am using Windows 7 (or 8, not sure) and internet explorer. What are you using and does that have any bearing?

    • Q. Shtik October 31, 2013 at 9:10 pm #

Notice, also, that when I copied the excerpt from your reply it does not show the greater than and less than symbols used around the letters i and b, yet somehow everything showed in YOUR reply.

      • K-Dog October 31, 2013 at 10:55 pm #

For tutorial purposes I had to use special character codes to make greater and less than signs appear.

Ignore the dashes &-l-t-; gives less than < &-g-t-; gives greater than >

Your issue should be that you are using Internet Explorer. I’m using Firefox. The browser decodes HTML markup and should be independent of operating system.

Don’t you think that it’s fascinating that people generally have a fixation with Magic & Power?

Moses was basically a simple, shepherd + Magic & Power.

Jesus was simple carpenter + Magic & Power.

Money is basically just a piece of paper + Magic & Power (to transform itself into real stuff).

A Gun is basically iron & wood + Magic & Power (to kill).

Drugs are basically small pills or powders + Magic & Power (to transform consciousness).

Society hierarchy is bureaucratic hierarchical organization + Magic & Power (to give particular people (leaders) status and transform their relationships to other people and get stuff).

It seems to be the existential nature of people to detach themselves from Realty by seeking Magic & Power. Deranged…..

I suppose that pornography, cybersex, and Internet dating all basically forms of psychological torture? As are showing advertisements for luxury goods (female pornography) to a bunch of very poor, economically desperate people?

Torture the victim by over-stimulating his/her latent desires, thereby, inflicting psychological pain by denying gratification of the desire. Perhaps a bit like eating a ham sandwich in front of a starving person?

      Do they mean “Hidden Racism”?

But they’re referring to a Halloween Costume worn for display.

      It doesn’t make any sense…..

If a costume was to be described as “racist” it would have to be “blatant” racism since a Halloween costume is worn at a party for all to see. It couldn’t logically be “disguised” or hidden racism. Right?

It doesn’t make any sense. It’s a kind of societal insanity.

Anyway…..We were seated at a large window table facing the street. While feasting on a sumptuous, rich meal of glazed duck, wine, etc. a very large, insane, and very hungry homeless man passes by and sees us eating our feast. Of course, he loses it (in fact, he had “lost it” a long time ago) and starts pounding on the glass window with both fists. It freaked me out!

“Computer tech made it possible for bureaucrats and military apparatchiks to invade the privacy of everybody, but in the end it only had the effect of embarrassing the perpetrators and eroding a big chunk of the US government’s legitimacy.”

This is projecting things too much. The military apparatchiks are not yet sufficiently embarrassed. The invasion of privacy currently has people stuck in anger and being stuck in anger is not good. It could resolve in negative or positive change but it is too early to know how things will hammer out in the end.

A stink of apathy pervades the land. Will the anger lead to disgust and more apathy or will it cultivate passion and a demand for change?

I don’t outright disagree with the statement but am noticing: “but in the end it only had” and thinking perhaps ‘in the end will it have’ might better express reality.

We are not at the end and the military apparatchiks are alive and well. They are sweating and having a bit of trouble controlling their sphincters but we have not yet reached an end where legitimacy has been sufficiently eroded. They have not given up and sufficient pressure is not on them to do so right now.

Some congressmen demand reform true enough but it could soon be back to business as usual. Congressmen calling for reform does not mean it is going to happen. The business of invading privacy appears to be a very profitable business and profitable business tends to buy congressmen.

Three thousand people marching in Washington really does not mean much and could be a passing fad. I hope it is not but a majority of Americans may get stuck in the nonsense thinking of ‘but I’m not doing anything wrong so its OK if they snoop’. That is a pernicious and ignorant point of view but pernicious and ignorant points of view can be popular. It would not be the first time.

I hope “but in the end it only had the effect” comes to pass and I share the dream, but right now that is what it is, a dream and a hope. The fat lady has not yet sung.

I don’t want to drop this issue until I get to the bottom of it.

As I stated previously, under JHK’s old site software I was able to use HTML to produce blockquotes, bolded words and italicized words. I did this using the very same Operating System and browser that I am using now. But NOW I am only able to produce italics.

K-Dog suggests that use of Internet Explorer (IE) “should be” the culprit. He uses Firefox and says he is able to produce both bold and italics.

Is anyone else out there amongst the commentariate using IE and experiencing what I am…. that is, no words appear in bolded font?

Secondly, is anyone else out there using Firefox (or an other browser except IE) and enjoying the same success that K-Dog describes……that is Bolding is working?

All they’ll need to do, is buy the stickers and slap them on their products, showing they’re organic and GMO-free.

The only foodstuffs that will suffer are the over-processed, corn syrup, hydrogenated oil, over-salted GMO sh!t – and they’ll definitely drop in price, as more people avoid them due to labeling…

I don’t think that the situation that I described warrants compassion since it involved danger posed by an assailant similar to a wild hungry dangerous animal. If it involved a small child or a helpless woman, then the circumstances would be different so as to warrant compassion. Some of you may not have carefully thought through the essence of compassion. For example, there can be no compassion for a serial killer.

A VISIT TO THE MIDDLESEX COUNTY BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES

    I am a snob.

The time has come to publicly recognize a personality trait. And it is not as if this is something I have always known about myself. To the contrary, as a person who evolved from modest if not humble beginnings it is something of a surprise that at 72 years and 49 weeks of age I should finally have to “out” myself as a snob.

People like me are not made to endure the bedlam and the seething sea of humanity that queue up in federal, state and local government offices from the moment they open till close of every business day. Such degradation is for Leona Helmsley’s “little people” who have become inured from birth enduring government bureaucracy in their daily struggle to make it through life on the dole.

The horror begins as you walk from your distantly parked vehicle toward the office’s front door. In that vicinity are the people who still smoke without any sense that over the past decade or two they have become pariahs. To serve these smokers Social Services has installed unbelievably loud speakers outside which caused me to wince and reflexively cover my ears to prevent further eardrum damage (I am already half deaf) as I neared the entry door. The names being called out from the speaker as we passed were Juanita Alvarez and Letisha Holland.

The fact that my wife and I had a 10:30 am appointment and that we arrived at 10:29 was comical in its pedantic faith that such precision was necessary or appreciated in the least. The appointment could just as well have been stated as “come the morning of October 31st.”

Somehow in this seething mass we located a man whose title, I believe, was “Greeter.” He had a stylish several-day growth of beard and wore a spiffy sport jacket. He was trim, swarthy with black hair, and would have fit perfectly as a door person at a popular Hispanic night spot in New York City.

He put us in the queue in front of window 6. The place had at least 14 windows, perhaps more, and there was a door marked “Door A” that certain people were summoned to.

Eventually we reached the head of the line and our names were found on a printout of persons with appointments. A yellow magic marker drawn across our names signified our presence and we were asked to take a seat. It happened that there were two empty seats just one pace from where we stood and we took them.

Thus began a long wait with a front row seat where we could observe the passing scene. Each window was fitted with thick glass that had a round hole with a metal grill to speak through. This hole was at a perfect height for me (I am 6′ 1/2′) but set too high for the average client….many were short Mexican women. The person behind us in line was an old and infirm man of Asian extraction who at one time earlier in his life was probably 4 or 5 inches taller. He shouted upward toward the metal grated hole. I speculated to my wife that the thick glass was probably bullet-proof.

Every person who came into our view was worthy of a descriptive paragraph but I will mention only a few….after all, there are only so many electrons available in cyberspace.

First their was an angry black man who stood back several feet from the window, milled around impatiently, and spoke loudly to a Hispanic girl on the other side of the glass saying “let’s keep this professional now”… “do it real professional” etc. She waived him in the direction of another window and backed away with a look of fear. He kept yelling about keeping it professional. In the course of a few minutes he presented himself angrily at all windows from 4 through 8 and finally tossed under the glass at #4 a clip board on which a form he had filled out was attached.

A light skinned black girl, estimated age 19, carried a baby boy on her hip toward window 8 and a little girl (age 3?) ran up and shyly hugged her right leg.

A short woman with hair dyed a dirty blond walked by. A distant ancestor might have helped construct Machu Pichu.

Reflected in the glass window all the way to the back wall was a figure in a tightly enclosing hoodie. He wore shades and I would not have been the least surprised to see him pull out an AK 47 and open fire. He didn’t, of course.

Lastly, Rachel Jeantel’s near double stepped to window 8. The girth of each upper thigh was at minimum 40 inches. The words “NFL Offensive lineperson” came to mind.

The PA system barked “Mrs. and Mr. Q. Shtik, Door A”

************* Possibly, to be continued ***************

Yes, more please. As the Book of the Law proclaims, “You are against the people oh my Chosen.”

John Adams was a spiritual Aristocrat from a middle class background who extolled elitism. Jefferson was a born Aristocrat who extolled an aristocracy of merit. Neither was a traitor like Victor Hugo who said, My tastes are aristocratic but my politics democratic.

I think that the most productive way to show Compassion is to treat oneself and others with a certain degree of Respect.

For example, show love to others. Don’t call oneself or others “Dog”, “Nigga”, “Bitch”, “Ho”, “Cracka”, “Gangsta”, etc. Don’t torment oneself or others by putting porn on the Internet, or looking at porn on the Internet, or masturbating through the Internet (cybersex). Give to peaceful panhandlers, say positive words of encouragement to people doing positive things. Don’t encourage Evil by showing weakness to dangerous people. Don’t give in to Evil by keeping quiet. Don’t abuse the meaning of words by calling people who are generally not racists “racist”. (America is NOT a racist country. We have a black President, for God’s sake!) Don’t call Slavery Freedom; Don’t call War “peace”, etc.

Don’t let people tell you that “Nigga” is a good word if a black person uses it, but a bad word if a white person uses it. Don’t let people tell you that “dog” is a good word to describe a male because black people call themselves “dogs” and “bitchas”.

The meaning of words is not determined by the skin pigmentation of the speaker. Don’t let them turn the U.S. into a mental sewer.

    • Janos Skorenzy November 1, 2013 at 11:59 pm #

What is racism? Can we know anything about racism if we can’t even define it? I find that it is purposely kept vague – like being charged with witchcraft. As it is now, it can mean anything the Elite want it to mean – thus making it a broad and deadly threat that keeps Whites in line. So that’s one of the meanings of racism – namely shut up Whitey.

You are using a word created by Communists – some say Trotsky himself. I find it incredible you believe anything good can come from trying into the corrupt racism industry. For example, after Obama was elected Blacks from all over America communicated with each other to the effect that “nothing has changed”. The shake downs and scams will continue.

You say resist evil but you have just surrendered to one of the biggest evils of our day.

  109. Pucker November 1, 2013 at 9:34 pm #

I suspect that to a certain extent the Ho,lo,ca,ust may have been self-inflicted because perhaps the J,e,ws at the time were not a particularly compassionate people? I’m speculating here.

If the Je,w,s were compassionate people, then they would have shown courage to resist Evil. Instead, they submitted completely, thereby, recognizing the legitimacy of Evil, which is Non-Compassion, like N..z,ism. There’s no more efficient way to engender Sadism (Non-Compassion) than by submitting completely to Evil (Masochism). The N..zi, s may have been Sadists (Non-Compassion) and the J,,e,ws may have been Masochists, which made them natural targets for the N,,zi Sadists?

Americans today do not seem particularly eager to resist Evil.

Another huge myth. The Jews conducted massive guerilla warfare both urban and rural throughout the whole War. The Germans didn’t consider them weak or passive in any sense whatsoever. Indeed Hitler said that they were “harder” than White Europeans and that leads to our exploitation at their hands. This is why he intended to deport them from Europe and why he cooperated with the Zionists who wanted them to come to Israel.

Read about them – google “partisans”. Why was the myth created? To make the Nazis seem even so much more evil by way of contrast. The Devil in the Liberal Religion.

What’s his name, the Jewish actor who is the new James Bond, did a movie about the partisans.

Good post about your visit to the SServices office, Q.

I don’t know why UFIA, or anyone else, would bitch about personal experiences like that being described on this thread.

Some folks do like to bitch, though.

    ============

And, yeah, I had my own encounter with the medical system today, courtesy of a female family member having (female related) surgery.

I was struck by the amazing professionalism (to the point of friendliness, even) of multiple nurses of both major genders and a couple of major races.

But my enduring memory will be spending several hours in a recovery room, listening to LOUD, nearly non-stop, Spanish gabble from the group across the hall. There were posted signs all around saying – IN BOLD BLOCK LETTERS – that ONLY TWO ADULTS were allowed per room and per patient.

Well, there were three adults next door, including one bitch (deliberate insult intended, Pucker) who hardly stopped talking for the whole endless afternoon. There was also a high-spirited 3 year old male over there. He performed strange gutteral resonances for the assembled gatherings.

When he got too loud, I was able to get him to hush for a little while by saying, SHHHHHH! Apparently, I am bi-lingual for shusshing noises.

Weird thing is, none of the nurses or staff ever told any of them to quiet down. And they never tried too enforce the two adults ONLY per patient rule.

Too friendly? Certainly not too profession.

Genuine professionals would enforce rules for ALL patients.

Pucker, your two posts @ 9:21 and 9:34 were very good.

And I’ll agree with you that “bitch, ho, nigga’, racist” are nasty insulting words which have no real purpose other than to insult.

I disagree with you about “dog,” though. I’m quite certain that K-Dog considers “dog,” as he’s using the term – to be a generic compliment, at the very least.

  113. progress4what November 1, 2013 at 10:14 pm #

And I should have said that I agree with K-Dog. For one thing, dogs are cool critters – better than a lot of humans, in a lot of ways.

And, btw, K, your post over at ArchDruid was good. You should reproduce it over here at CFN.

    • Pucker November 1, 2013 at 10:33 pm #

Yes, dogs are man’s-best-friend (woman’s too!) in many cases.

But I prefer friendly dogs that like to play “hand-hand”, fetch tennis balls, grab frisbees out the air with air with their mouths, roll-over, etc.

I don’t like big mean dogs that run wild, knock over the garbage cans, bite small children, hump “bithas” in heat, carry rabies, ticks and fleas, sniff crotches and butts, and are mean, belligerent and dangerous, like “gangstas”.

In other words, a “good” dog is only a well-behaved dog if the dog has a good loving “Master”.

Under the circumstances, and in light of the master-slave relationship, I’m not sure if black people should be referring to themselves as “dogs”? In fact, I’m not sure if anyone of any skin pigmentation should be referring to themselves as a “dog”, or a “bitch”?

Thank you but I can’t post it without linking to that which inspired.

The Future is a Foreign Country

Better faster cheaper is also a pernicious thought virus in our modern overly bifurcated mind. In the foreign future slower simpler and more reliable will be a more appropriate catchphrase. Worship of the religion of competition and money gives rise to the first catchphrase in our runaway market driven economy and it prevents adoption of solutions until ‘technology catches up’; a side effect of the stupidity of the market.

An example is we can’t have electric cars until we have cheap lithium ion batteries even though existing technology will make an electric car that meets basic needs now. The fear of competition from new technology prevents it. Adoption of the better faster cheaper mantra might be inevitable in a runaway market driven economy but it also means that because good enough is never enough we will soon wind up with not enough. And no cars at all.

And in an attempt to relate it to this weeks; Two Forces and Three Bears we have:

“These efforts to manage runaway hyper-complexity with more complexity are guaranteed to fail. Our prime task at this moment in history is managing contraction, and the means for doing that would be simplifying, not adding layers of complication larded with fraud, pretense, and mendacity.”

The last paragraph, which actually relates rather well.

        • K-Dog November 2, 2013 at 2:46 am #

          To which I will add:

A car using edison cells or normal lead acid batteries can be made with a top speed of say fifty miles an hour and a range of about 60 miles. And you’d have to charge it all night.

This would force contraction but after the squeeze something of a normal lifestyle would shake out in the end. A lifestyle with much less energy use per capita and a reduced CO2 footprint. Kids could get to school and people could get to work.

Once upon a time families only had one car and had to plan trips. Some could even say they were happier then than now with socially connected and simpler lifestyles.

Cities would resemble JHK’s dream of an urban landscape.

And that’s better than no lifestyle at all.

    Arn Varnold –

If I’m not mistaken, your only post for the week has been to castigate Pucker for not inviting a large, violent, homeless, possibly insane male – to sit down with Pucker and his girlfriend for dinner.

Evidence indicates, arn, that you know almost nothing about homelessness, hunger, or violence.

I doubt you know much about girlfriends, either.

This is not a thinking human’s blog; critical thinking and discernment are nowhere to be found.

And, excuse my indignation, but why is that “Jive Ho,,nk,y” Obama cutting Food Stamps for poor people while giving US$85 billion a month to banks? There’s nothing that guarantees desperation and insanity like hunger.

“Benefit cuts to food stamp recipients kick in Friday, a move by Congress that will siphon $5 billion off a program that helps one in seven Americans put breakfast, lunch and dinner on the table.

As president of the Food Bank for New York City, Margaret Purvis expects those cuts will draw even more people to organizations that already provide 400,000 meals a day to hungry city folks.

“Our members are panicking,” she said as time wound down before the benefit decreases go into effect. “We’re telling everyone to make sure that you are prepared for longer lines.”

K, I do believe that that is the “secular liberal?” proscription for these United States. Let’s (collectively, and over the objections of many) pack this place more and more full – of every possible race and creed – including those creeds that want to kill all the other creeds.

And let’s (collectively, and with no thought to resource limits) pack in 400,000,000++ by 2050 – most living in slowly increasing desperation and dependent on the Government.

Then let’s (collectively, and counter to every observed behavior of human groups through history until just now) sit back and wait for everyone to suddenly get along like “one big happy family.”

Sounds great – but unlikely, even in a perfect world.

And in a world of degrading environments and declining resources?

Not so unlikely when the Zeitgeist turns away from the foolish, that which induces foolishness, and that which is consumed by foolish people whom having no life life of substance live in a state of pervasive distraction.

Because then what you seek to criticize perhaps as a childish dream of flowers blooming and bunnies dancing in fields will be clearly seen as the only possible way for humanity to survive.

Concentrate less on hating every possible race and creed. For myself not waiting for everyone to suddenly get along and doing what I can to make it happen will keep my uglies away. Ruminate on solutions not the problem. Hate and fear are mind killers.

Because the “Chamber of Commerce” conservatives believe it and act on it, also.

I think the difference is that the secular liberals think that human nature can be completely rewired in one generation.

    Social Services continued…

Lest I give an erroneous impression by way of omission, there were white people present in the building other than my wife and me. Perhaps 25% of the working SS staff were white and I saw one white “customer.” There may have been others. He (the white customer) appeared to be a street person: swarthy from exposure, 5 days of salt and pepper stubble, randomly missing teeth and greasy light brown hair on which an egg could be fried without it sticking, with a stringy 5″ pony tail. My guess is he was stuck in a pot-induced late ’70s time warp, never to escape. As for my wife and me, we were very much out of our usual element and the sight of a woman knitting had me listening for the sound of tumbrel wheels over cobblestone coming to take us away.

We rose and entered the inner sanctum behind Door A.

Small offices, most with their doors open, each with a staff person and a customer, flanked either side of a hallway that disappeared like railroad tracks to a vanishing point at the horizon….or so was my first impression. We were led far down to an office on the right and were greeted by Cindy, a nondescript 50ish white woman. I observed aloud how busy the place was. She said “you should see it on Mondays.” My wife found an opportunity to attempt a gentle brown-nose by telling Cindy that she reminded her, especially her hair, of a dear cousin Paulette in Denver. (Commenters who’ve been here for 4 or 5 years may recall my essay on Rob and Paulette.)

If you the reader need reminding, the purpose of this trip to Social Services was to see if my aged mother-in-law, currently in a rehab facility with a broken hip (and doing none too well, btw), would qualify for Medicaid in the event she is unable to live out her life in our home and must be put in a nursing home.

An initial phone call resulted in an appointment a few weeks hence. Later a letter arrived from Social Services spelling out in great detail 16 items of photocopied financial and other data that one must bring with them. It begins with (#1) Social Security Card, includes (#10) BANK ACCOUNT STATEMENTS ON ALL ACCOUNTS FOR THE LAST SIX MONTHS AND THE LAST THREE YEARS FEDERAL TAX RETURNS INCLUDING ALL SCHEDULES AND ATTACHMENTS, and (#14) Prepaid funeral contract and burial accounts (itemized breakdown), to name but three examples.

As luck would have it, I am an expert at a task such as this. Gathering, understanding and presenting financial data is how I made my living for 45+ years. And so, we arrived with a perfect package of data in duplicate, one copy for them and one for us, including a typed out set of explanatory notes covering all 16 items.

Cindy never took the big clip off this thick package of documents. Once she learned from me verbally that Mom had $28K in liquid assets it was ballgame over. The threshold is $2,000. We would need to “spend down” the $28K to $2,000 or less on legitimate (and documented) health care expenditures such as hearing aids, dentures, visiting nurse services, etc. before applying for Medicaid. The other threshold, monthly income, which might disqualify an applicant, is $2,130. Mom fell comfortably below this number so no problem there.

Cindy handed back my expertly prepared package of documentation (a two day effort) and wished us good day.

    • K-Dog November 2, 2013 at 9:34 pm #

You’d have been better off at a different zoo. Perhaps the Staten Island Zoo? Any place with the glass partition and a speaker hole is always bad news. It makes the whole place look ugly.

Moves toward social democracy in America have been replaced by the war on terror, the war on drugs, the war on this that and the other thing. The American empire seeks growth and the need to tend its own garden is all but forgotten. This will change. Disgust with the lies and the flim-flammery of the failed system we live under builds in the unconscious and the day will come when the disgust becomes conscious. Things can happen very fast when that happens. The Stasi did not see the fall of the wall.

Not that it does you any good. Perhaps Mom could loose the 28K in Atlantic City. Then she could qualify and have a good time doing it. Of course she would need your help. Maybe she could move it offshore to the Cayman Islands like rich people and corporations do all the time. If they do it doesn’t that make it OK for you too?

Perhaps some of the zoo animals you saw were putting on a bit of a show and you can learn from their example. Show up swarthy with five days of salt and pepper stubble next time. Find out when Cindy has a day off and set your appointment then. Dress down and beg. It’s the only way.

And if that is too over the top find out what is legitimate and documented. Use those paperwork skills of yours. Mom deserves it.

    A general comment….

“Critical thinking” is the most ubiquitous and useless term found in all the blogosphere. Every commenter professes to use it himself while failing to see its use by any fellow commenter, particularly if they are at ideological opposite poles.

I wish Arn (who has bid us an un-fond adieu any number of times only to pop up a minute or an hour later) would clearly define critical thinking and show us examples of it and contrast it with un-critical thinking examples and what makes them so.

Don’t hold your breath, people, for that.

Speaking of “Critical Thinking”, I “think” that I may have solved the mystery of why Forrest Gump when he reached middle age inexplicably started running cross country and back?

    Answer: It was Gump’s “Momma”.

You see, we were seeing the movie “Forrest Gump” through Forrest’s eyes of an idiot.

Forrest thought that Momma was running a boarding house bed & breakfast for travelers on the road between Montgomery and Mobile, Alabama.

In Reality, Gump’s Momma was running a whorehouse.

Gump’s Momma was turning tricks for traveling shoe salesmen, and traveling Bible salesmen.

Forrest knew that his Momma was a whore because he could hear the sound of Momma’s mattress squeaking at night when the traveling shoe salesmen and traveling bible salesmen would stay overnight.

In fact, little Forrest killed a fat traveling shoe salesman that he caught on top of “Momma” on night with a shotgun, but Forrest repressed it and other terrifying memories of Momma’s whoring while “Daddy’s on vacation”.

Forrest’s running was just a psychological way to vent Forrest’s repressed memories and unresolved repressed conflicting feelings of guilt about his “Momma’ and his “Daddy on vacation”.

Does this make sense? Thank you.

Do you know what German (and Swiss-German) people simply cannot resist?

    Answer: Pretzels

    They love those pretzels.

I can’t figure out if it’s the taste and texture of the pretzel, or the shape and color of the pretzel, or both?

But they sho’ do love dem pretzels…….

If you ever have some German people over, just throw out some pretzels and a keg a dark beer, and they’ll be happy as pigs in shit.

I’m under the impression that the entire east coast is within walking distance so I figured that was a zoo near you. On the other hand the county I live in is bigger than Rhode Island. I just google it to be sure.

King County has nearly twice the land area of the state of Rhode Island. The source for that is Wikipedia so it should be taken with a grain of salt. In my experience I’ve found Wikipedia to be the source of much government sponsored misinformation. I once had an account and tried to change some it back to reality myself and found any changes I made to be ‘corrected’ in almost real time.

Ok that’s snarky on my part. County and state land areas are probably not worth misrepresentation. But who knows, the dancing elephant has no shame.

What was the name of the excellent movie about the homeless bloke starring Robert DeNiro? In the movie, DeNiro plays a homeless man who has delusions that he’s a brilliant writer, but feels slighted because society doesn’t recognize his greatness.

I know an American bloke who (although poor, but not homeless) basically feels the same way as DeNiro’s character in the movie.

Why is it that many Americans have this intense need for celebrity?

Strange…. They must be brainwashed, right?

Wouldn’t it be much easier and less stressful simply to reject celebrity?

I had the most beautiful 21-year-old *chick* knock on my door earlier this evening, talking about OSPIRG and their agenda to get annual Orygone insurance premium hikes down from 20-40% annually, into the 10-15% range. And all I could *feel* for her (uninsured) whuz pity…

“Pity would be no more, if we did not make somebody poor. And mercy no more could be, if *ALL* were as happy as we.” (who?)

You seem a bit *bent,* concerning your diatribes about rape, incest (?), pedophilia, and outright murder. I’m actually concerned about these *y00tz* – whose future *WE* destroyed, and that we still continue to try and *milk* for every last “dime”…

  133. ZrCrypDiK November 3, 2013 at 1:25 am #

OK, my turn to *SPAM*! Apparently, around 17-18 years ago, we here in ORYGONE voted to have our property taxes go up incrementally 3-4% annually, rather than having them fixed to bloated property bubble values. I whuz under the impression that it only lasted for 7 years, be-4 a revote – but here we are, and my property taxes have gone up 5% annually for the last 7+ years.

And now we get to vote, yet again, for more monies for schools from property taxes (which should be funded by over 50% of current property taxes *ALREADY*), when we passed similar such property tax hikes about 4 times over the past 6 years (including more monies for libraries). Yet, we/*they* continue to vote *YES* for more property taxes for schools – but the monies never seem to “get there”…

*AND,* I haven’t even been able to take advantage of all this property tax for schools, as I have no children (regardless of whether or not it got *THERE*)… Nor have I been able to take advantage of federal welfare (strike that – I could have[unemployment/food stamps], but I *didn’t*)/./

    {end of rant}

I don’t know the details of your tax situation so this is nothing more that a thought tossed to the wind.

It seems things given up to the government; things like taxes hikes for the poor or tax breaks for the rich or sacrifice of rights as in the bill of rights (to fight’ terrorists’) don’t ever go back to the people when the time limits is up.

Obviously I don’t define Aristocracy merely as the few who have clawed their way to the top in a commercial society. That skill set is not a good one for rulers. Both Adams and Jefferson wanted an Elite, but Jefferson was broader as to where they would come from. Interesting since he came from wealth but Adams didn’t.

You have to realize that there will always be an Elite of one kind or another. Trying to negate the very idea just insures that it will be a secret one and a bad one – one that controls the Mob.

I’m going to keep looking into the idea that graduation from Harvard or Yale defines most of our “aristocratic elite,” as policy makers in the upper levels of the Federal govt.

I believe all of the Supremes, all recent Fed Reserve heads, and all presidents since Reagan – graduated from that Gateway to Aristocracy.

So – how is attendance/graduation at those two institutions determined?

First – family connections. Second comes a veneer of “merit” along with thicker veneer of “diversity.”

It would be interesting to see the statistics on those who are admitted to Harvard/Yale, who drop out before achieving the degree. And it would be VERY interesting to hear some of their stories.

Below is a copy of the recommendation letter written by the then Republican Governor of the State of Washington in support of Ted Bundy’s law school application. At the time, Ted Bundy was engaged to a “nice girl” named Meg from Morman Utah. According to Meg’s testimony, when they “made love”, Ted would tie Meg to the bed, twist a nylon stocking tight around Meg’s neck and anally sodomize her. She said that she “didn’t like it.” Nevertheless, Ted Bundy and Meg were engaged to be married. At the time, Ted Bundy was an “up-and-coming” star in the Republican Party.

“College of Law University of Utah Salt Lake City, Utah 84112

    Dear Dean:

I write to you in support of the application of Theodore Bundy to your law school. Ted has expressed a desire to attend the University of Utah . It is my pleasure to support him with this letter of recommendation. I first met Ted after he had been selected to join my campaign staff in 1972. It was the consensus among those of us who directed the operation that Ted’s performance was outstanding. Given a key role in the issues, research , and strategy section, he demonstrated an ability to define and organize his own projects, to effectively synthesize and clearly communicate factual information, and to tolerate uncertain and sometimes critical situations. In the end, it was probably his composure and discretion that allowed him to successfully carry out his assignments. These qualities made his contributions to strategy and policy dependable and productive. If, however, you are concerned that a political campaign is not the measure of a prospective law student, then I am sure you will look, as I have, at Ted’s other achievements and activities. Look at his academic record in his last two years of college. Look at his impressive community involvements. And look at the several law-related positions he has held since graduation. I believe he is qualified to and intent upon pursuing a career in law. I strongly recommend the admission of Ted Bundy to your law school. You would be accepting an exceptional student. Sincerely, Daniel J. Evans”

According to Ann Rule, Ted Bundy’s murders took place in cycles with the first killing taking place in the lunar period of Taurus, with the remainder of the murders occurring during the alternating periods of Scorpio and Pisces. Ted probably didn’t know that his behavior may have been affected by the Moon.

The Native Americans believed that a particular black spot in the night sky devoid of stars was a portal to another dimension. The Native Americans were a shamanic culture. In his interview, when Ted Bundy described his mental state during his savage murders, he said that it was “like falling into a black void” from which he’d later “wake up.”

Ted Bundy may not have known who he really was? Bundy may have been a vehicle, vessel, or conduit for something else? “Leaders’ like Governor Evans may have seen this?

All right all right; its a bad thing to do. Spying that is; but something good does come of it.

    Angela Merkel’s recipies:

German Sausages with Apples, Sauerkraut, and Onion!

    #1

    Ingredients

    11/2 tbsps vegetable oil
12 cooked german sausages (links assorted fully)
    1 white onion (thinly sliced)
2 apples (crisp red, gala or braeburn cored and cut into 12 inch slices)
    1/4 cup apple cider
    1 lb sauerkraut
3 sour pickle (quartered for serving)
1 kirby cucumber (peeled and sliced lengthwise into eighths for serving)
    mustards (assorted, serving)

    Steps:

    [1]

Heat a 12-inch skillet over medium heat, and add 1 tablespoon oil. Halve sausages lengthwise if desired. Cook until browned and heated through, about 3 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate, and cover to keep warm.

    [2]

Add remaining tablespoon of oil to skillet if necessary. Add onion, and cook for 3 minutes. Add apples, stir, and cook until softened, 6 to 7 minutes. Stir in cider, and cook for 1 minute. Add sauerkraut, and heat until warmed through, about 2 minutes.

    [3]

Transfer sauerkraut to a warm serving platter, and top with the sausages. Serve with pickles, cucumber, and mustards. (Sausages and sauerkraut can be kept warm, covered, in a 250-degree oven for up to an hour.)

    mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Creating applications is a very complex process and it is impossible to do without a competent and consistent approach. I already know from experience that it is better not to drag it out, and immediately contact the experts. For example I found here https://webspaceteam.com/web-app-development/ who helped me with creation of qualitative and convenient software. I hope I have helped others as well. Good luck!

All the other doctors in the clinic have opted for early retirement, as they had to wait two years on payment from the government and it just wasn't worth it anymore…. good read: http://kunstler.com/clusterfuck-nati…d-three-bears/ […]
