M any thoughtful and patriotic citizens entering the Kubler-Ross free-fire zone of desperate bargaining with reality are at work attempting to chart an orderly course around the Godzilla-like figure of Trump looming outside the desecrated once-shining city of American democracy. I doubt there is such an orderly way through this political bad weather. When storms hit, things break up.
It can be argued endlessly whether times produce the man or vice versa, but except in the most schematic and wishful sense, is there any question that Donald Trump is unfit for the office he’s seeking? Personally, I am tortured by the question: why him? Why this vulgarian who can’t string together two sequentially coherent thoughts? Are there in this land of 320 million-plus people no other men or women with comfortable fortunes and better minds bold enough to take on the matrix of mafias running our affairs into the ground? Apparently not.
Then there is the question — only nascently theoretical at this point — of where such an orderly course of decision and action might lead this country. For Trump, it seems to be a restoration of the 1950s, when armies of “breadwinner” factory workers churned out cornucopias of Maytag washers and Zenith black-and-white televisions, and the less numerous Wogs of the outside world busied themselves with basket-weaving, and Atoms For Peace would make electric power “too cheap to meter,” and popular entertainment came in the chaste form of Dinah Shore urging the upward-aspiring masses to “see the USA in your Chevrolet!”
That was, of course, the time of Trump’s childhood (and my own), and if there is anything more certain than night following day, it is that America is not going back to that sunny moment. Trump and I are way past done growing up as human organisms and America is done growing as a techno-industrial political economy. People decline and die and are replaced by new people, and political economies wither and morph into sets of new activities and relations.
The forces of history want to take us to this new disposition of things, and just about everything on the American scene these days is a manifestation of resistance to that journey. The destination is a much re-scaled and down-scaled edition of daily life in a de-globalized economy, with far fewer luxuries and a greater demand for earnestness, purposeful work, generosity-of-spirit, and plain dealing. These are not qualities exhibited by Trump, who represents only the poorly-articulated and grandiose wish to “make America great again.”
The institutional collapse of the Republican Party is in full swing now thanks to Trump. By the way, it could easily be matched by an equally brutal collapse of the Democratic Party if the head of the FBI makes any criminal referrals in the matter of the Clinton Foundation’s entanglements in official State Department business via an email slime trail. It would be an awesome and wondrous event if the nation landed on November 8 with both parties in complete disarray and more than a couple of rump factions posting candidates with dubious legitimate credentials to stand for election. In over two hundred years we have not seen a national election postponed, or canceled.
I’ll repeat my assertion that professional observers on the political scene appear oblivious to the financial shit-storm gathering out-of-sight of land, and how it might affect electoral events at landfall. There’s a fair chance that six months from now, the USA may be in some kind economic emergency, with the banks either disabled or shuttered, and businesses unable to transact with one another, and the just-in-time supply lines to America’s Big Box merchandise depots badly interrupted, with the shelves bare. Americans at large, lost in the their cell phone app raptures and Kardashian masturbation fantasies have no idea how fragile the systems they depend on are.
America is going to learn something about the uses of disorder before this year is out. One of these is to compel the construction of a coherent consensus as to what is actually happening in the world, apart from our wishes and fantasies. That is, if we are not torn apart in the process of getting to that.

I understand why you didn’t attach the usual “short-fingered” before vulgarian. The last person to do that was Marco Rubio, who found out that there was nothing deficient about either Trump’s hands or the other part that is usually associated with their size. Rubio got his ass handed to him as a result. Poor, “Little Marco,” all those endorsements couldn’t save him.

Trump’s Great On Climate Change
That climate change hoax is garbage. Suppose it is true. What is to be done ? The obvious answer is to enable systems of agriculture to exist in the future under a severely altered climate. That means saving desert and tropical-adapted plants which might be useful in the future. Palm trees for example. Hundreds of species of palms are critically endangered. Who is trying to save them ? Mostly just a handful of white people who get very little funding.
The government of Egypt may be the only exception. I heard they were concerned about the Medemia Argun palm tree. Only rediscovered in 1995, it was thought to be extinct. It was cultivated in ancient Egypt. Pharaohs snacked on them. Now hundreds of seedlings are growing in Egypt. A rare success story.
The point I am trying to make is that there is plenty of work to do. And some people are actually doing that work.
the science confirming anthropogenic climate change is very clear and almost universally accepted among experts in fields related to climate science. it is real. there are puny attempts to combat the effects of climate change, like trying to save palm trees, but the substantial measures needed to reduce damage are simply not being utilized.
Which means Al Gore won’t sell his mansion and move to a one bedroom efficiency apartment and use public transportation the rest of his life.
Do as they do, not as they say. The fact they don’t do as they say means they don’t believe what they say.
I’ll take Anthropogenic Climate Change seriously when they do — which will be never.
Climate change has been real for the last 6000 years at least, and now we are cycling back to warmer weather again, just as we have reversed to colder weather many times too. There is quite a lot of controversy as to whether human activity is a contributing factor. Perhaps a very little, but not nearly enough to give Bernie a free pass on wetting his pants all the time.
Trump is the man. After he gets through kicking ass we will enter into a new golden age lasting at least a decade, just like 1930s Germany.

Silly rabbit, that’s a survey of largely industry engineers and geoloscientists in Alberta, beloved home of the tar sands. The response/solicitation rate was ~10%. To quote the author: “… we reconstruct the frames of one group of experts who have not received much attention in previous research and yet play a central role in understanding industry responses – professional experts in petroleum and related industries.”

You are right to be sceptical of AGW. It is a mass delusion. I am interested in the psychology of the true believers, how they feel compelled to defend it, overlook the blatant dishonesty of its so many of their leaders, dismiss those who won’t agree as ‘deniers’, close down debate because ‘the science is settled’ and how they seem so unaware that it is part of a wider politically correct world view. For anyone who is just starting to examine it I would recommend first of all looking hard at the ISPCC.

Indeed, trends proximate to events, not people, slogans or philosophies, are firmly in control. The popularity of candidates Trump and Sanders is indicative of that. As James notes, the party establishments are clearly ignorant of what’s driving this popularity and therefore left to react in ways that serve only to rearrange deck chairs on sinking ships: no more than the cosmetic makeovers made possible by extensively choreographing conventions or arbitrarily changing rules on the fly. What most fail to see is that this popularity serves as a warning that things are breaking up. At the moment things aren’t working for a growing minority. In the not too distant future that minority could quickly swell to be the majority.
What trends may be leading up to could analogously be likened to what it would be like to be on board the ISS where it to renter earth’s atmosphere.

Actually, as GOP clown car refugees go, Kasich is almost sane. He’s not up there saying that God chose him to be president, and he doesn’t parrot the Republican orthodoxy and he doesn’t have people beaten up at his rallies. I have family in Ohio, some of whom are life long Democrats, who consider him to be a decent governor.
Native Ohioan here and even though I lean considerably right my mostly left-leaning friends certainly don’t hate Kasich and some actually like him.
The only fault I have w/Kasich is he’s too corporate for me.However the former Lehman Brothers executive does do what he says he’s going to do and he’s extremely honest.

Could he do any worse than Thomas Woodrow Wilson? He found America without an income tax, Federal Reserve, relatively free of government intrusion, and with a Senate controlled by individual states, not a me-too House of Representatives. After he left office, we had Prohibition, an FBI, suppression of black political and economic rights. As a direct result of his declaring war on Germany, the Germans put Lenin on a sealed train to leash the Bolshevik virus on Russia and remove the second front in a Europeanwar where we had no dog in the fight. Oh, but Wilson was “fit,” having governed a state and run a University.

Another interesting point is that George Wallace was the last third party candidate to win any electoral votes. He won 5 states. Again, is that how it’s done?
If Trump has the candidacy stolen from him at the Convention, the best think he could do for America would be to start a 3rd Party. Probably wouldn’t win because Americans are very rigid about brand loyalty, but it may lay seeds for the future. Or it might not. Trump might be just a flash in the pan with no one else able to do what he is doing.
Janos: I think Trump is somewhat unique in his celebrity status. Everybody already knows who he is and has an opinion about him; especially people who don’t typically vote or pay attention to the candidates much beforehand.
He also, hands down, has the best intuitive understanding of the media of any candidate I’ve ever seen. Each President of my life (when I was born LBJ was President) has been better media than either his predecessor or whomever he was running against. Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Clinton and Obama; each better media than their predecessor and their opponent; the Bushes just better than their opponents.
It’s Trump Vs Hillery now. The Clinton crime syndicate Vs the successful businessman. I’ll take Trump, beholden to none, over the Clinton Special Interest criminals any day.

Most likely scenario at this point is that the most of Democratic “Super Delegates” are switching their allegiance and voting for Bernie Sanders, thus sparing the Democratic party and the US an embarrassment of either putting H. I am tortured by the question: why him?
Simply a matter of someone trying to get by with something. He had nothing to loose and he had the audacity to go for it as people with copious audacity and little restraint will do. It is a mindset no different than that of a vandal with a spray can of fluorescent paint about to tag a building that does not belong to him and there are places where buildings have been covered with tags. Trump is certainly not exceptional. The question is not really why him; change Trump’s clothes and shave is head and he’d be just another Joe Six Pack.
The better question is why did nobody stop him but sadly the answer to that is also not hard to understand. There are no other choices who even pretend at this point to have the public interest at heart other than Bernie and he sadly won’t be long for the race because the ‘S’ word will do him in. With no choices who are motivated than anything but raw self interest the thought comes to mind that maybe Trump is the one who will do the least amount of damage to the country in the next four years.
Trump has been around a while and before now his move would have been laughed down. To be successful at being audacious one must develop good sense of timing to know when one’s shit may fly and not be blown back on the wind at one’s face. Trump has that timing.
The times did not produce this man. This man simply is taking advantage of a time when reasonable choices are nowhere to be found.

Agree Dog, Trump has been saying the same things for decades. He is not a stooge of the Elite, and they are terrified of him. Anyone that the “protectors of the status quo” attack must be a man of the people.
The idea that Donald Trump is unfit for the office of President of the Once United States is probably more of a qualification rather than a disqualification Jim. Barack Obama was and is supremely unqualified to serve in the capacity that he has for the last 7 plus years and that did not stop him now did it? JFK was one of the worst presidents ever. He owed everything to his bootlegger dad greasing his path. He supported the Bay of Pigs until he decided not to, pulling the rug out from under people who trusted him and depended on him. Well, I don’t know about all the name-calling, but I agree that obviously someone wanted JFK to die and I doubt it was one man high in an office building. LBJ was much more sympathetic to the power elites of his day. Many generalships and fortunes were mad off of LBJ’s guns and butter without new taxes. Mainly, it was a question about what Walter’s definition of “capable and fit” to be president was, exactly. By his response above to Whoopdy-do, which I find an offensive and off-the-mark ad hominem attack against a reasonably argued point of view (exactly the “childish drivel” he accuses Whoopdy-do of)*, it seems the answer to my question is, mainly, having had military service.
Is this correct, or is there more? Can you come up with a list of things as comprehensive as Whoopdy-do’s to support your own position on JFK? Have you read any biography of the JFK which isn’t hagiography? How about Seymour Hersh’s “The Dark Side of Camelot?”).

If Americans would pull their heads away from their TV’s and dumbPhones and listen to what the government has been actually saying and doing for quite a while now, they would realize that calamity is being prepare for by every level of our government, a fact that can easily be verified by a quick trip to ready.gov, FEMA, NASA, DHS, or a host of other websites all across the internet. Even our small town CERT team prepares constantly for such events. The fact the America buries it’s collective heads up their collective butts in denial does not change this fact nor does it prove that this particular projected eventuality is a tin foil hat dream or a conspiracy theory. It is an eventuality that those of us who are paid to plan for future events as the government understand and keep aware of. Which is more likely to occur in 2016, a New Golden Age of Prosperity or failure of a broken system on a grand scale? Except that global trade already has collapsed – see CCFI, SCFI, BDI, etc. See also US domestic truck and train traffic, also refer to the collapse in the basic inputs that feed manufacturing (even in China) copper, coal (coke and thermal), steel, nickel and of course the crash in fuel demand – worldwide inventories have never been higher.
The Western Roman Empire did not collapse because they ran out of slaves (or wind-, or water-power) it collapsed because they allowed the supporting infrastructure to manage these resources to rot. Then came the waves of refugees fleeing even wilder rampaging hordes farther afield – a challenge that would have been taken in stride in earlier, healthier times – and then… well you know what happened.
History cannot repeat but it will ‘rhyme’ when the constraints and salient factors are similar. It’s not our job to predict the future, but we can keep abreast with the present.

If you haven’t the time to watch it all, at least skim through and have a look at the calibre of the witnesses. I find him very fair minded, even if he is a Spurs supporter. Over 50 women have accused Cosby and they are not all inmates at the same asylum signing a petition. They are a diverse group, spanning decades, and mostly credible. (Yes, it’s possible a few publicity seekers jumped on the bandwagon.)

Cosby has paid money to settle civil cases of sexual assault rather than go to trial, but now he faces a criminal trial. We’ll get a chance to hear both sides of the case.

I hope so. It will be test of your justice system. If it is anything like what has been happening on this side of the Atlantic then I don’t think he stands a chance. In Portugal a few years ago Carlos Cruz (ther ‘Mr Television’) was convicted in a farce of a trial: the court refused to take account of his plentiful evidence that he couldn’t have been where they said he had been (for the simple reason that it would have acquitted him) and well into the proceedings the prosecution suddenly withdrew more than 40 accusations because they didn’t stand up. Cruz (along with other men) was convicted on the ‘resonance of truth’, that is, the sheer number of accusations outweighed the lack of solid evidence.
In Ireland we have had anti-Catholic hysteria. Look up the Nora Wall case. She was a nun and the first woman ever convicted of rape in Ireland. They gave her a life sentence. A homeless man was accused and convicted along with her, just to add verisimilitude. He died not long after. Wall was later released to a mountain of media silence. I can’t remember but I think the homeless man had solid evidence on his side as Wall probably did too, but to be honest when looking at these cases there is *so* much deceit that it is hard to keep track.
In England the big case, which kicked off the hysteria again after his death a few years ago, was that against Jimmy Savile, a well known disc jockey and charity fund raiser. I hadn’t looked at this case until three weeks ago, but predicted that most of the accusations would be deceit and fantasy. Actually I have not yet come across a single piece of evidence that can stand up on its own. It is a quite extraordinary thing to behold. He was branded by police and children’s charity as perhaps the most prolific sex criminal ever, and the thing about it is, to use the hackneyed expression, ‘he did it all in plain sight’ (and with a salivating press watching his every move, fed on rumours of their own making, hoping he would slip up). He had supernatural powers, you see, that allowed him to become invisible, to walk through solid walls and to travel back and forth in time to commit his horrendous crimes! And the thing is, people swallow it all and think you are insane if you express any doubt.
In the USA you had the Boston clerical scandal. I can’t find out much about it except for the cases of Fr Paul Shanley who was convicted on recovered memory. There is a good article out there by a reporter with a Polish surname. Three of the four witnesses who had recovered their memories withdrew from the case when their evidence collapsed, but the fourth was talked into not following suit by a court official, which I understand is highly questionable.
These are all cases taken at random, perhaps because they are among the most well known.
My own interest is psychological because it shows just how fragile our reason and our institutions are. So it will be interesting to see how the trial goes.

I remember in May, 2008, reading a report that then Sen. Obama had collected more contributions from Wall Street than either Sen. McCain, the GOP nominee, or Sen. Clinton, the sitting Senator from New York and spouse of the (then) most-abjectly Finance-owned President America had ever had.
The Democratic nomination hadn’t yet been decided, but when I read that it crossed my mind that “The Fix is In!” and not only would Obama be nominated and elected, the collapse I saw brewing at the time would happen, and the deal had already been cut to save Wall Street; reimburse their losses and socialize whatever couldn’t be bailed out onto the taxpayer’s ledger.
Then in October, when it was hitting the fan for all to see, both candidates Obama and McCain promised, if elected, to name as Secretary of the Treasury the same Timothy F. Geithner.
I haven’t been surprised by anything that’s happened regarding Finance and Government since.
The interesting part is right now is that it seems Trump, an oligarch himself, doesn’t seem to have a deal in place with Wall Street. Rivalry among insiders? Somebody holding out for their price? I suppose we’ll all find out.

Tomorrow Bernie Sanders begins his march to gain the number of delegates needed for the Democratic nomination. Bernie should defeat Hillary in several states and begin to cut into her lead.
Bernie’s wins tomorrow will add to the hundreds of delegates he already has won in victories in nine states. Hillary has peaked. Bernie’s momentum continues to grow as he continues to defeat Hillary in both caucuses and primaries.
Bernie also raised far more money in February than Hillary. It wasn’t even close. Hillary continues to meet with millionaires and billionaires to beg for money. Bernie continues to refuse to take money from the super-rich and is not beholden to them. Bernie’s political revolution is just starting.
Bernie will gain on Hillary from now until June 7 …. Defeating Hillary in state after state … Cutting into Hillary’s current delegate lead until the super-delegates flip on give their support to Bernie Sanders.
In the general election polls show Bernie is the stronger candidate to defeat the short-fingered vulgarian. Bernie is the most electable candidate in the 2016 race.

You made some pretty good points about where things are going whether we like it or not. I would like to see Trump as president, I don’t think he could do any worse than the current one and his predecessor. The other reason I like Trump is he is his own man in that the monied interest don’t own him and that’s how they usually control the candidates. I’m mad as hell at the Democrats and the Republicans alike, they have fucked us all for a long time and now people are rising up and they see a champion in Trump who is addressing the real issues, not the ones each party decides will be the issues. I feel like this is Democracies last chance to get it right. I would like to see change this way rather than a Bosnian type civil war with the different factions fighting for control.
Actually I think the country is past saving and doomed to demise and an economic crisis because the People have changed. Fifty percent expect the government to come to their rescue and give them what they need and the other half still work and are being taxed to death by the politicians who are trying to buy votes from the ‘Gimmies”. A couple of responses: 1. Can’t understand the commotion concerning Trump’s bombastic screeds. He’s only speaking in the common idiom of the vast American public; not futzing around with the tu-tu, fru-fru language of the power elites. Just watch any tv show, internet website, movie and listen to any popular music and you know instantly how degraded our expressions have become. At least, Trump is able to get across his message plainly and simply.
2. James, James, please don’t go back to assigning any timelines to your predictions. Slow down, take a deep breath – it’s going to happen (is happening). We just don’t know exactly how and when.
Were I an American citizen (and not just a resident), I would do everything in my power to support Bernie Sanders. Here is my rationale:
In politics, we ideally look for a candidate possessing the minimum viability trait. Meaning, his central message meets our criteria for correctness even though we may disagree with some of his proposals and even some of his prepositions.
In my mind, Bernie meets this criteria due to his position on Campaign financing. It goes beyond revoking Citizens United all the way to instituting publicly funded elections. This would truly revolutionize American politics, and is doable if he can energize enough people to vote in a Democratic Congress for that purpose. Also, since he is not using PAC money as Obama and Hillary did, he can solidly stand behind that message.
I treat other parts of his message as still important, even crucial but secondary to campaign reform. Even if you disagree with some of them, but agree with the central premise, you should support him.
– Reducing involvement in foreign wars : critical and doable.
– Taxing Wall Street “speculation” and breaking up the TBTF banks: critical and doable, although the taxation would not yield enough for social programs.
– Investing in infrastructure : insofar as trains and public transit are concerned, critical and doable. Same goes for alternate energy sources although * here * Mr Kunstler would be correct to claim that is currently very little understanding even in the Sanders camp, of the true implications of reduced dependency on fossil fuels.
– Single Payer Healthcare : a no-brainer and not only doable but a big money saver. Also, taking big Pharma out of the medicare equation by negotiating rates would be a big plus.
– Raising the minimum wage to $15 : a no-brainer to catch up with minimum wages of the 1970’s era.
– Immigration reform : a prickly issue. I dislike Sanders’ agreeing that undocumented immigrants, once here will not be deported. But most Americans agree that immigration reform is direly needed to balance business reality and the need to protect local jobs.

Wrong! – and I can speak with some knowledge of the first three in the list. Christianity has reformed from its medieval teachings to a place whereby apostates are no longer persecuted in Christian countries. Similar for Judaism, although certain strains in the radical Jewish right want to bring back the old testament approach of “erasing Amalek from the face of the earth”. As for islam, there has been no reform movement to allow for co-existence with the non-believing (Kafr). Therefore, not recognizing the danger and strength of the Jihadi movement will continue threaten Europe, USA and the rest of the civilized world. And blandly calling Islamic jihadi terrorism just “extremism” will not help with that discussion.
In summary, Bernie doesn’t get it all right and doesn’t yet understand that we are overdue for a serious contraction in our economy, but he is a mensch and he gets many fundamentals correct. He is the stepping stone to a civil dialog in this country and its future.

Although I was not brought up in a cult-like environment, I am an atheist, and can appreciate the mental torment it takes to divest oneself of religious beliefs, especially in the face of the threat of eternal damnation and abandonment by one’s family and peers. Marlin, I observed, weighed the evidence, thought it through, and came to the conclusion – for various reasons – that God doesn’t exist, and that as much as we don’t like it, when we die we cease to exist. I accept that that is the way it is. The benefit of this for me is that I appreciate so many liittle things in life, and I live every precious day with joy, trying to live the Golden Rule.
I suppose there are those that are bitter about not believing God exists and become terrible human beings, but most atheists are just like everyone else, except for that one thing.
National Socialists were very religious, and radical Islamists obviously strongly believe in Allah. Many Bolsheviks are atheists, but many atheists are not Bolsheviks.
Since I am Jewish, I’ve known multitudes (to use a CFN poster’s word) of Jews, and not very many of them were atheists. In fact, I’d say the percentage is the same as for Christians, at least in my experience. Saying otherwise, is to me, a prejudicial statement.

Yeah, the Temple here seems to be thriving, a lot of activity there all the time. I know my neighbors attend services, as do their teenage kids.
One thing I’m happy to see is that local Protestant Churches, as well as our Catholic Church, frequently team up with Temple for various community fund raisers and charitable events.

Does this seem strange to you? This big Republican Columnist with his passionate interest in American politics, yet his son serves in the Israeli Army and not the American. That’s obviously how he was raised. So can we not infer that Israel is probably Mr Brooks first allegiance as well?

I know this may seem strange, but if we make it through the coming bad times, I think that most of the Judeo-Christian (including Judaism) branches will merge together. This is because if we survive, science will progress much more and the concept of God will be openly questioned by the masses.
Science and religion are incompatible in my view, despite statements by both sides that claim these 2 ways of thinking can accommodate each other. This is because science can explain the phenomena we’ve seen in the universe and religion hasn’t. As science advances, religions will gradually fade away. I’m not saying this in a smarmy, gloating manner. It just seems a reasonable inevitability.

Last night I checked the voting in the primaries before hitting the hay. Trump and Hillary were winning Arizona by relative landslides. Then I saw that Cruz and Bernie were winning in Utah by even bigger margins. Then I looked at a map and, sure enough, as I had recollected Utah and Ariz are neighbors with a long common border.
So, what is the rationale for such completely different political views in these two states? Is it possible that Romney’s anti-Trumpism actually holds sway amongst Mormons? And what about Bernie? What makes Utah so pro-Bernie while Ariz is so anti-Bernie?

What happened in Arizona should be considered a national disgrace. People waited five hours to vote in Arizona. Five hours.
We don’t know how many thousands of people didn’t get to cast their ballots in Arizona because they couldn’t afford to wait that long. Scenes on cable news showed hundreds of people in line at 11:30pm in Phoenix – more than four hours after polls closed. Voting should not be this difficult.
One reason it is so hard to vote in Arizona is because the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act. There were 70 percent fewer polling places this year than in 2012 in Phoenix’s county. They wouldn’t have been allowed to cut those polling places if the Voting Rights Act was still in tact.
These cuts meant that, in a county with more than 4 million residents, there were just 60 polling places. This is unacceptable, but it’s also not an isolated incident.
We need to make it easier to vote, not more difficult. One way we can do that is by reaffirming our support for the Voting Rights Act.
We cannot continue to see democracy undermined in the United States of America. Enough is enough.
Make no mistake: the billionaire class does not want Americans to vote. Billions of dollars are being funneled into our elections in a form of legalized bribery, even as American voters — especially minority voters — are being discouraged from voting. It is no wonder that government no longer works for ordinary Americans.
Above all, we need to remember the price that was paid for the right to vote. The Voting Rights Act was one of the great victories of the civil rights movement. Now, as then, change comes when the people demand it — in the voting booth, and on the streets in peaceful demonstrations. He was dead wrong and never mind all his alleged learnedness and experience and level-headedness.
But take heart, it’s not like Trump is alone in saying what he’s saying. Rand Paul called for a moratorium on immigration from 33 high risk countries. How’s that any different from what Trump said?
The people that support Trump ( a large minority but a minority nonetheless) have no taste for half measures. The majority have no taste for any measures whatsoever aside from occasional public expressions of mourning or carefully worded “regret”.
Have to say though, given past history, there isn’t a lot of cause for optimism. If, with the passage time, reasonable measures aren’t taken, if people don’t listen to simple, straight talk and the unvarnished truth, it just makes it all the more likely we’ll see unreasonable measures and unvarnished lies.
After all, the unvarnished truth is that Christian ministers don’t tell their followers to kill Muslims, and the unvarnished truth is that it’s almost impossible to tell the good Muslim apples from the bad.
When you see a bearded fellow wearing a shalwar kameez and carrying a backpack on public transport, what are you likely to think? Hint: it’s not Christians blowing themselves up. So, when Muslims complain of the unjust burden of suspicion, well, just tell the unvarnished truth. Not fair? OK, maybe it isn’t, but this isn’t a board game we’re playing, this is life and death. Ask those people in Paris and Brussels.
Look to history for examples. From the relative safety and security of the present we deplore the treatment of Japanese-Americans during WW2, and again, from the safety and security of the present, I would agree that what was done to them was unjust and unreasonable. I tell you though, it’s safe up here on this high-horse of mine, I can condemn what was done but I don’t have to contemplate risking my own ass in combat or the reality of a million people a month dying.
As of now it’s unlikely that we’ll do to Muslim Americans what was done to Japanese Americans. Yet, with every terror attack that takes place, with every mealy-mouthed response, with every misdirection by some politically correct social justice warrior denouncing “Islamophobia”, it just increases the likelihood of something like it or or something seriously worse happening to Muslims. So, do concentration camps sound a tad harsh? Well, they are, just ask the Japanese Americans whose lives were derailed. Even so, far worse things have been done.
Is a ban on Muslim immigration is scoff-worthy? Maybe. But maybe the scoffers should tell us why. Are police patrols of Muslim neighborhoods beyond the pale? OK, better explain that also given that stop-and-frisk of Black guys was accepted practice for a long time.
Better to have a discussion because there’s no bottom to what people are capable of if they think they’re threatened. If the PTB don’t listen, if their response is to shout-down and to insult, people will do what they think they have to do and in this regard the Trump phenomenon is the rumbling in the distance. Better take heed, in hindsight and in comparison, restrictions on immigration and police patrols might end up looking eminently reasonable.
Banning Muslim immigration is only unthinkable to the ignorant – those who haven’t studied Islam. Can you imagine Christ or Buddha saying, Kill unbelievers wherever you find them. Islam just isn’t like other religions. Was Christianity like this? Perhaps, but so what? If so, we should know better than any how dangerous Islam is.

True. When the people who commit these acts of terrorism are consistently identified as Muslims and, by and large, hail from a distinct region of the globe, then people will naturally profile and enlist a “discriminating” vision.

Two days ago, there was very significant news that the Rockefellers completely out of oil projects, including those created the clan founder company “Exxon Mobil”.
Events related to the decision of the Rockefellers, and especially the reasons that led to this decision, in fact, are very important and clearly reflect the ongoing behind the scenes civil war in the United States.
There are several manifestations of this war. This is a political struggle between the candidates for the future presidency. And war between supporters of different clans in almost every US governmental agency, and no less acute war for the assets and budgets.
Manifestation of the latter war is the decision by Rockefeller to withdraw from the oil business. And that decision was not caused by the unfavorable assessment of prospects of oil and gas market in the foreseeable future. This is evidence of the defeat of the Rockefellers in the most severe and long-term competition for this market.
And in political terms it spells a defeat for Clinton in her quest for a seat of the 45th US president. But if the situation in politics is still uncertain, the economy and finance put the final point.
Some time ago, the Bush clan, during the reign of Bush the senior, managed to squeeze part of the oil business from the Rockefeller. 4 years ago, the partial control of the Rockefeller Foundation moved to the Money Changers (Rothschild). Who are in turn are closely linked to the Bush clan through a group of Morgan-Harriman representing the interests of the Money Changers in the United States.
But at that time the Rockefellers still retained significant investments in the oil business, and did not give up hope for a rematch. As a tool of revenge they have chosen the active development of shale oil production areas, and the creation of ISIS oil business, the bulk profit of which flowed into the pocket of the Pirates.

Boiled down, the anti-Trump propaganda is unprecedented in modern American politics. Another reason it might feel like ‘Trump is fading’ is the debates have more or less halted. Personally, IMO, Trump bowing out of debates is a strategic error on the part of the Trump campaign as it appears that he is playing a sort of political ‘prevent defense’.
But here is the propagandistic trap the anti Trump/MSM crowd have set for Trump. On one hand he needs to ‘modify his rhetoric’ in order to elevate his general election chances. – In response to a massive terrorist attack in the capital of the European Union, its leaders were only able to cry in public, and the Europeans had a sluggish pacifist action.
– The US president has publicly acknowledged Ukraine to be in a sphere of Russian influence
– Leader of the Democratic presidential race was publicly accused of rigging the electoral lists in the primaries. A leader among the Republicans revealed a support group of paleoconservatives, and immediately announced that NATO is a useless waste of money.
– A Russian court has convicted the first war criminal under the Russian law from the large list of Ukrainian military and politicians.
– Russia announced its readiness to compel the Syrian opposition to peace without the United States, after which the Secretary of State Kerry urgently requested an audience in the Kremlin.
– US Secretary of State in plain view asked the Kremlin for four days to solve urgent problems, he was granted only two. Russian President publicly mocked the US habit of solving their problems with suitcase full of cash, and Lavrov showed his American counterpart the dissatisfaction of a senior partner.
Even two and a half years ago, any such political news would have sounded like an incredible sensation and a bombshell.
