Ho ho ho! It’s that time of year again. Here’s JHK’s holiday classic: A Christmas Orphan.

11-year-old Jeff Greenaway hears his mom and dad argue one night after an office Christmas party. He infers from their garbled squabble that he is an orphan, found in a willow basket on the welcome mat outside their New York apartment. Thinking now that his parents are imposters, he steals away to Grand Central Station and buys a train ticket to Drakesville, Vermont, where he intends to start life all over again.

There’s a lot to complain about in this deranged republic — if it even still is one — but the burdens of being a multimillionaire football player would not be at the top of my list. Personally, I find it a little peculiar that we have to play the national anthem before any sporting event. All it really shows is how insecure we are as a nation that we have to display our love of country in this obsessive manner. Same with congressmen and their stupid flag lapel pins, or the flag in front of Denny’s chain restaurants. Are eaters of the “lumberjack slam” so disoriented when they leave the place that they need to be reminded what country they’re in? “Oh, look hon, were in the USA after all….”

What burns my ass is seeing baseball players in camo uniforms, as if they were an extension of the US military. What’s up with that? Is San Diego suddenly a theater of war? And why do US soldiers need to wear camo uniforms when shopping for eyeglasses? There used to be a distinction between battle dress and what you wore the rest of the time, even during a world war. And why on earth is it necessary to fly Air Force fighter jets over the stadium before the Super Bowl? Who authorizes the spend for that? Who are we trying to scare?

Of course, this new gale of ill-feeling stirred up by our intemperate president, the Golden Golem of Greatness, is driven by the oceanic currents of racial animus that are drowning the country more ruinously than the recent spate of hurricanes. The #Take the Knee campaign was already there, and getting hotter, even before Mr. Trump chimed in. At least he didn’t issue the usual sort of vapid nostrum about “diversity” and all of us getting along. In his blunt, blundering way, he may force the nation to clarify exactly what the beef is.

Surely it’s not about the woes of professional athletes. They are representing the grievances of a different realm in black America, perhaps the places they came from, the city ghettos or the rural backwaters of Dixieland, or maybe even boring black suburbs like Prince George County, Maryland. And the lingering question, to be equally blunt, is: how much is non-black America keeping black America down?

I say non-black because there are plenty of other ethnic groups in the mix besides the dwindling majority of “white folks.” I daresay there is as much, perhaps more real animus between Asian-Americans and black Americans than between white and black. But Asian-Americans did not enslave black Africans, so they’re off-the-hook for that original sin.

Mostly what Asian newcomers do is demonstrate that it’s possible to succeed economically and educationally in this country even if you start out with a culture and language completely alien to American ways. This is especially noticeable in places of exacting achievement like Silicon Valley. If anything, Asians complain that they do so well in school that the universities have to tamp down their admission numbers to give other ethnic groups a chance.

There seems to be so much psychological displacement in the feelings between black and white America that it is next to impossible to sort out what to do next. White Dem-Progs (formerly “liberals”) appear to be so consumed with anxious consternation over the outcome of the long civil rights struggle that they are ready to commit a sort of hara-kiri to atone for their unforgivable cis-whiteness. To some extent, they have attempted to compensate by campaigning for an ever-growing list of other “marginalized” groups in the hopes of showing some positive results for social change — it’s just easier to get significant numbers of homosexuals into the corporate executive suites than to get blacks in there — but the Dem-Progs are still left with the grinding reality of a large, dysfunctional black underclass. They certainly can’t admit that their own contrived “remedies,” such as subsidizing out-of-wedlock births, has anything to do with it, or the devastating effect of “Multiculturalism” on some sort of unifying common culture based on values that everybody can agree on.

Similarly, black America displaces their oppositionality to whatever remains of a national common culture into the memes of “systemic racism and injustice.” It has evolved insidiously in their own culture since the 1960s, probably (I believe) as a reaction to the anxiety provoked by the civil rights legislation of 1964-65. It’s really about behavior, especially in school. Are you interested in speaking English? Believe me, that would help a lot in this society. Consider this: Ella Fitzgerald was not singing black or white back in the day. She was just singing.

Good column. So politically incorrect, but otherwise so correct.

I happen to like the flag and the national anthem, but you’re entitled to your opinion. I don’t much care for football, but many others obviosly do. Some may have noticed I don’t think our republic is going down the tubes, and I don’t see any long emergency coming, but I wonder if the NFL is in for some difficult times. Between CTE and players taking a knee, it’s not looking that good for the leagues fortunes.

    • DA September 25, 2017 at 10:10 am #

WOW, are you ever barking up the right tree here today Jim! As a retired US vet myself, I can only say MY FEELINGS EXACTLY! You’ll no doubt get a lot of flak today from irate commenters both here and across the internet, but this desperately needed to be said. I stand up and applaud you for having the big brass cajones to say it!

      • FallenHero September 25, 2017 at 10:28 am #

I have to applaud the one white guy who actually went out ( an army vet himself). I understand the dangers of jingoism, but this ‘protest’ by rich millionaire blacks reeks of political opportunism. Especially considering the pointlessness of the entire tradition they are rebelling against. I have no problem firing these guys.

I find it ironic that when blacks do this sort of thing its ‘expressing grievances’ yet when similar white ideas are expressed (like not bringing down confederate statues’ “RACIST” is slung around repeatedly.

        • DA September 25, 2017 at 10:43 am #

The NFL brought all this on themselves by adopting their silly and grossly obscene flag worship extravaganzas before every game. Of course they knew full well what they were doing, as the “America uber alles” crowd is their core demographic. Yes, the players exploitation of that is also cravenly and nakedly opportunistic, but as far as choosing a stage with which to be heard, they’ve quite obviously hit the mother lode and they’re smart enough to know it. Trump foolishly and ham handedly wading in only turned up their volume several orders of magnitude.

Ratings are down 30%. My belief is that mothers are putting their very heavy foot down with their husbands and young children and forbidding it to be shown in their homes. My mother, much to my chagrin, refused to allow us to play tackle football. On that point, bless her heart. Violence is taught. Like the Navy Seals say, “Violence of Action,” is taught and learned.

          • DA September 25, 2017 at 11:59 am #

Yep. My mom was the same. Great advice, as it turned out.

Well, here’s another vet’s perspective (10 S.F. Btn Cambodia 73): Young & dumb then but I know now I was fighting for a country that does NOT force you to pray, to pledge allegiance, to stand (or kneel) for anthems, or kiss the ring of a dictator president or hero worship statues of slave owners. And you?

Starts in Little League where, before most games, the players go on the field and recite the Little League Creed — full of God and country. And camo uniforms. And the Stars Bangled Banner.
            We have militarized Everything.

Delete the history books on the founding fathers because most were slavers. Take the next step delete the history books because of some other aggression some historical figure is charged with, continuing on the idea to some other micro aggression, why stop, delete the history books period. Go back far enough anywhere on the globe and we were all slaves and slavers, blacks don’t corner the market as slaves, today or historically.

        • sooty September 25, 2017 at 2:05 pm #

It makes no difference and grants little immunity that the men protesting are millionaires. If they’re black, as soon as they get into a car–especially an expensive one–and head somewhere they’re not recognized as sports stars, they’re just seen as big black men and therefore categorically dangerous. And others (police, store owners, neighborhood residents) act accordingly.

          • DrGonzo September 25, 2017 at 5:17 pm #

No kidding. I didn’t realize that once one becomes a multi-millionaire in this country, one forfeits one’s right to protest publicly against any perceived injustices.

It would be helpful to know at exactly what level of wealth that right becomes invalidated, as I have well over $1 million in investable assets and may already be skirting that forbidden line. I participated in the March For Science, for example, but maybe that was stepping out of line, JHK?

            If it helps, I’m white.

I thought that saluting the flag was one of the “Bourgeois” values?

      • mghines September 25, 2017 at 10:42 am #

Jim, I thought i was the only one who thought this. Why do we have to have the display of patriotism before sporting events. It is just entertainment. we dont do this before movies, or plays, or concerts. I think you may be right, we are insecure about what country we are in a feel guilty if we dont make some declaration of allegiance at every opportunity.
Lets start a movement to stop the playing of the anthem, or flying military jets as an anointing on the superbowl and just play a game. You dont have to be american to enjoy sports. Take the patriotic displays out of sports.

        • Jeremy September 25, 2017 at 12:08 pm #

The disgusting pre-game military show, including fighter jet fly-by’s, corps parachutists landing on the field, chants of USA! USA! USA! etc. etc. are simply hypernationalistic manifestations of the Nazification of the country. It’s been going on at least since Dubya.

Criticism of the nation is not taken lightly, and is often rebuked with a “If you don’t like it, then leave!”

So I did, with my wife and 10 year old son in tow four years ago.

It’s now real entertainment to watch the armed madhouse from 5000 miles away. If only they knew how the rest of the world is laughing.
Although not so funny having to deal with the airport immigration storm-troopers, and TSA, when coming over for an annual family visit.

          • My Point of View September 25, 2017 at 6:58 pm #

“It’s been going on at least since Dubya.”

True. Initially a response to the 9-11 attacks. Then KKKarl Rove picked up on it as a way to silence objectors to whatever crazy crap George Dumbya Bush pulled on us. He sent the troops into Iraq, as ill-advised as our debacle in Vietnam, then closed every public speech with “support the troops.” By closing that way it implied that whatever he said before it was something that could not be questioned, no matter how stupid. After all, you cannot fault a man who praises the troops and waves the flag. That and the flag lapel pins were all politically inspired to say “we’re the good guys and if you’re not with us you’re the enemy.”

          • GreenAlba September 26, 2017 at 8:27 am #

Jeremy, it’s a delight to read your post from here in Scotland. Like many of my compatriots I am watching almost desperately what is going on in the US (and I can’t say what’s going on in Germany now is much comfort either). I’m not inclined to laugh, though. There’s no reasoning with dangerous emotion-driven people in the grip of an ‘idée fixe’ – just look at the posts of your resident fascist on this site.

To take liberties with a famous feminist quote, it looks like ‘Trump is afraid that people will laugh at him; people are afraid that Trump will kill them’. That’s what the whole Kim/Trump willy-waving spectacle looks like from here. That millions of people could die because of a narcissistic ignoramus elected to high office in a country that used to be sane is impossible to take in.

My good wishes are with the American people – the best of them are wonderful. I wish I could believe things will get better, but the ‘power down’ is likely to bring out the worst.

I do wish more Americans could see that it’s perfectly possible to love your country without fetishizing a bit of patterned fabric and the razzmatazz that goes with it. Our countries and the people in them are so much more important than manipulative symbols pushed by the powers that be.

I’d cringe these days if I had to sing ‘God save the Queen’ (really, what’s an agnostic who thinks royalty is ridiculous meant to do?). There are people in this country who have a hissy fit about a politician not mouthing the words, yet they don’t mind our national health service – one of the greatest humanitarian achievements in the world – being sold out to greedy private interests. Which one is more important in terms of loving your country, which if it means anything means caring for the people in it?

          • Sean Coleman September 26, 2017 at 4:22 pm #

“There’s no reasoning with dangerous emotion-driven people in the grip of an ‘idée fixe’.”

No there isn’t, but those in the grip of an ‘idée fixe’ are not the people you think but your own side. The delusion is so powerful that you don’t realize.

Why do we have to have the display of patriotism before sporting events. – mghines

          ===============

For all the money involved, the advertising, the price of tickets, I think there is among the powers behind pro and college sports the feeling that there must be a great spectacle beyond the game itself.

Speaking of doing away with the anthem, what about the pledge of allegiance at the start of every school day from K thru 12? They do still do that, I assume. Do away with that as well. And what about the reading of a passage from the Christian Bible every morning… Jews, Hindus, and Wiccans be damned. Have they put an end to that and I’m just too old to realize it. If not, they should.

I’m okay with a pledge of allegiance in public schools, just take out the words “under god” which were inserted in the 1950s during the McCarthy-era commie witch hunts.

Speakingof KNEE, They Buried My Heart at Wounded Knee has led me speak from the heart. “Patriotism is a virtue of the vicious” – Oscar Wilde The development of the USA was a direct result of this kind of mentality and the aboriginal people of the US were its main victims. Canadian aboriginals were just the victims of self righteous, benign neglect. Flag waving is just part of what it is to be an American, in a pejorative sense

All countries are established by Conquest. Do you think the Sioux were peaceful? They were driven out of Eastern Woodlands by the Ojibwa and then drove other Indians out of the Dakotas. You owe everything you have and everything you are to the Conquest and the Conquerors.

            Grow up.

          • GreenAlba September 26, 2017 at 7:51 am #

            @Janos
‘All countries are established by Conquest. Do you think the Sioux were peaceful? They were driven out of Eastern Woodlands by the Ojibwa and then drove other Indians out of the Dakotas. You owe everything you have and everything you are to the Conquest and the Conquerors.

            Grow up.’

And you owe everything you are to the DNA of your African ancestors – there’s probably a bit of neanderthal in there as well (they were the gentle ones who died out, so maybe not so much in your case!). Maybe after a few thousand years of global warming, Americans will get their melanin back and you’ll look just like your ancestors again 🙂 When you grow up you may be in a position to exhort others to do the same.

What’s most disgusting among rabid nationalists in the US is that so many of them claim to adhere to a religion that specifically tells them that all people are created equal, a ‘self-evident truth’ that is even quoted in their constitution. I don’t hold to that religion any more, although I was brought up in it and stuck with it for decades. However, I’ve hung on to the best sentiments from within it, because they came from the best sentiments of which human beings are capable.

But I get that civilisation isn’t your cup of tea and that you’d be happier with the law of the jungle that your ancestors worked so hard to leave behind them.

          • Janos Skorenzy September 26, 2017 at 12:59 pm #

Alb: You don’t contest my claim but just call me a Negro instead. So in other words, you admit you’re pushing bullshit lies about “peace” and how evil Whites are?

And of course, calling me a nigga is just another lie, the kind one expects on the old Stormfront site. The higher IQ Races all have Neanderthal genes. The low IQ races have none. Interesting, eh? Just another nail in the coffin of Egalitarianism.

The Celts? The original Celts were big Aryan White guys. Slavers and followers of a strict Caste System amongst themselves. Related to the Conquerors of India and of course, the Aryan Germans. Later it all get watered down into mere culture and language groups. That’s how weakling like you got associated with it. But since you called me a nigga is derision, you seem to still have some of the good stuff left in the mix, all confused of course.

What’s up with baseball players in camo? Well in case you haven’t noticed we are festishizing our military. “thank you for your service” “our heros” etc. the more we do this the more vulnerable we become. 700 billion for the generals? Really? And at the same time demonizing a footballer for expressing his first amendment , Constitutional right of free expression and locking him out of his livelihood in a corporate monopoly of spectacle. The Supremes say it is constitutional for nameless/faceless billionaire Libertarians to spend as much as they want to influence elections without ever identifying the funding source under 1st Amendment, but let some brown footballer express his feelings in broad daylight on a Sunday afternoon and all hell breaks loose. It is fucking disgusting and no good will come of this attitude. Every libertarian vote in congress just continues to loosen the ties that bind a nation till we are all just free agents.

“thank you for your service” “our heros” – noel bodie

          =============

Last Nov I got dragged to an “Armistice Ball” by my wife and her chums. They love this stuff. I can’t dance my way out of a wet paper bag.

At a lull in the dancing a woman who was running the event asked for anyone who had served in the military to raise their hand. I and several others raised our hands.

We were called onto the floor to stand in a shoulder to shoulder type line as the woman pinned a boutonniere on each one of us. As she pinned mine on she said with a big smile and in all sincerity “thank you for your service.”

This had never happened to me before. I was actually embarrassed. Little did she know I spent my three year Air Force stint in an accounting and finance office in Duluth, MN and the only danger I faced was getting a finger caught in the check signing machine.

Traditionally, taking the knee is done to God and one’s feudal lord, acknowledging their dominion over us. It’s kind of like a dog rolling over and exposing his belly. I think kneeling instead of standing for the anthem is a grave tactical error.

      • pequiste September 25, 2017 at 10:59 am #

I agree completely with you regarding the accepted meaning of kneeling. The Africans in the “N”FL really missed a protest opportunity of disrespect, contempt, and hatred of the U.S.A. and instead participated in an act of obeisance and humility.

When runners Tommie Smith and John Carlos provided their Black Power fist-in-black-glove straight-arm overhead salute at the 1968 Summer Olympics, the loathing for America was plain and palpable.

If the current crop of Kaepernick kopycats really wanted to protest something overtly racist in the NFL, the Redskins team name and logo would be a great place to start. However, the Africans in the NFL could not give a rotten damn about systemic racism; they just care about their own “awful” treatment.

They should rather make the ultimate protest, by first getting their DNA checked, finding out where they originate, quitting their cushy positions in the professional football league in the United States and moving themselves, and the whole family, including all the out-of-wedlock issue; baby-mommas and all, back to the mother continent of Africa. That would conclusively show Whitey in America just what they think of his bad treatment of Black folks.

        • messianicdruid September 25, 2017 at 11:22 am #

As far as the “loathing of America” is concerned – I don’t think we are being concise. Patriotism is fine if our “paters” were worthy of emulation. Are they really protesting America, or the leadership of the United States? I get irritated when people fail to differentiate. Can’t we see that it is classic bait and switch.?

When ungodly men lead the nation into sin – it is time to do much more than “take a knee” to set it right. And it is true this seems like a subservient gesture to me.

            Druid,
I would be inclined to wager real money that if you polled the group, your results would render to “…you know, slavery and shit….”

Do you really believe that a majority of these mouth-breathers can pinpoint the focal point of their angst? I would myself be surprised.

Sin? Oh Christ, do you honestly think that they protest sin, or are more inclined to commit it? The majority of the players in the NFL are not necessarily politically sophisticated…most have never had their privilege questioned, nor their corporeal tastes mitigated through good council or careful thought.

Yes, some of their ancestor’s were required to pick cotton…. They themselves? Only when opening a bottle of aspirin.

I have nothing but enmity for the bastards that take a knee.

Not ‘required’. Forced. And killed. And treated worse than animals.

Fetishizing a piece of patterned fabric and the militaristic razzmatazz that goes with it is not the sign of a grown-up mind. Not has it the slightest connection with love of one’s country or the people in it (which is what your country actually is).

Apparently it is. Religious, patriotic, and otherwise. Symbolism exists in all factors of life…and has obvious meaning in a culture.

Has no connection whatever with love of country? The taking of the knee is an obvious sign of contempt. Contempt for what? Fill in the blank….

How about required under threat of death and being treated worse than animals…and then killed an eaten…and then half eaten corpse sexually abused, and then re-animated and “required” to reprise old vaudeville routines…soft-shoe and Jim Crow, and then, and then….

Alba, I hope your example and my response did not arouse you sexually….

Interesting perspective – one that I didn’t think of. Alex Jones things the Elite have put the fear of God into the NFL with the head injury liability angle. If they want to live long and prosper, they have to bend the knee to their Leftist agenda.

As far as the kneeling, maybe they are trying to show respect for America or at least people’s feelings despite their protest? I’m giving them a lot of credit here.

It’s good you notice this, but I think there might be something clever in using a specific kind of image to co-opt the Christian notion of “turn the other cheek” back onto our anti-Christian, alpha-dog, kneel-to-no-man American culture.

Of course, it seems based on reactions to this kneeling, if it were indeed a nod to the likes of Jesus and Ghandi, the message went right over our heads. WOOOOOSH…

    • Walter B September 25, 2017 at 10:27 am #

Good morning Gracie. No you do not see what is coming and it is probably best that way. Last Friday you wrote that you did not see your own death coming since it has not happened yet, and I understand and accept your perspective. I was fortunate as a young soldier to be quickly trained to realize my own mortality and be able to see past the fact and concentrate firmly on whatever task lay directly ahead. This attitude had not only allowed me to prepare over the course of my lifetime for what I know will come in the next, higher plane of existence, but also to be able to enjoy every single day of my life in the meanwhile as today may be the last. It is all a matter of what works for us individually which allows folks like me to appreciate how you view things as long as you are willing to return me the same courtesy. I understand as an elected public official that even if I were to know for a fact that a world ending nuclear war was going to break out tomorrow, there would be nothing gained but mass panic were the fact be made public. Far better to let the people enjoy their last day of life in peace by remaining silent. Some can know but most cannot and this is not a bad thing.

      • Graycenphil September 25, 2017 at 10:31 am #

You completely misundrstood me, apparently. I never said I don’t see my own death coming, nor would I say that.

I did say, in response to someone, that if they were told every day that they would die the next day, they should start to question that prediction at some point. Wouldn’t you?

        • Walter B September 25, 2017 at 10:49 am #

If your point is all about date setting, which I think it is, then absolutely, date setting is foolish for we have not the capabilities to see such detail. Seeing what is coming is a different issue and I have always been in agreement with our host about the inevitability of fossil fuels one day running out. And yes I recall your statement a while back that we may have enough remaining to get us to the next source, which I also agree is possible. Looking ahead and planning is my way however for I do not like surprises. They are never good IMHO. Perhaps I am too much the boy scout.

        • shotho September 25, 2017 at 11:01 am #

Yes, it’s called “crying wolf too many times.” I don’t necessarily agree with you, but like that you provide some kind of antidote to too much negativism. Life isn’t going to end just because Western cultures are ending.

          • Graycenphil September 25, 2017 at 11:26 am #

            Thank you Shotho.

And Walter, as a former Boy Scout myself, I agree with you about being prepered. I fully expect our nation to continue pretty much as it is, with slow gradual improvement. But if the long emergency does come about, I’m about as ready as one can reasonably be.

The very, very modern idea that everything is for everyone is ruinous, the very essence of egalitarianism – which is Communism in the political sphere.

Equal treatment of unequal people is Tyranny. And resistance to Tyrants is Obedience to God.

        • sophia September 25, 2017 at 1:59 pm #

Equality of opportunity and treatment is fair. Machinations to bring about equal results is not.

          • beantownbill. September 25, 2017 at 5:04 pm #

            Very good clarification.

        • GreenAlba September 26, 2017 at 8:02 am #

‘Equal treatment of unequal people is Tyranny. And resistance to Tyrants is Obedience to God.’

That rather depends on which god you worship, if you still depend on religious beliefs. If it’s the Christian one that I was brought up to worship and obey, he demands that you treat all human beings as your equals. Sorry you missed the memo, but, strictly speaking, you’re not even supposed to hit them back when they hit you – ‘turn the other cheek’ isn’t a quote from Das Kapital.

Nor is ‘render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s and render up to God that which is ‘God’s’.

          • Janos Skorenzy September 26, 2017 at 1:06 pm #

Nor is what? Caesar says punch and so we punch. Many Christians served in the Roman Legion with distinction. Later they conquered Germanic barbarians who wouldn’t convert – something I don’t agree with and don’t think Christ would have either. But there is no pacifist culture. Pacifists are parasites off real cultures.

The quality of play stinks these days too. What is inherently a team game when it’s played correctly, has gradually morphed into little more than a platform for obscenely overpaid prima donnas to pose and preen before their rapidly shrinking adoring public. I agree that the league has likely reached its high water mark in popularity and that it has nowhere to go but down from here. Good riddance!

I would not care were it not for the amount of taxpayer money and special treatment the NFL gets from the government.
That was the whole reason for instituting the patriotism displays in the first place, IMO.
Well I shouldn’t say it was the whole reason. The reasons a global 1/10 of one percent corporation would use the anthem and flag of the US as a cover are many.
How many people will tell you, because the media tells them that it is a thing, that they don’t like football, but they watch the Superbowl for the commercials? Hmm.
There was a major push to blur the lines between government, sports/politics/and entertainment.
Aren’t the premier advertisers for these shows a global brand of beer and trucks assembled in Mexico? Hmm.
How did the players and owners and management f these teams get so rich, relative to the fans? Was it from ticket sales? Or did the government have something (a lot) to do with it?
When these teams and the products they sell are no longer American, should Americans be forced to underwrite them?
Oh, look! Another one “takes a knee”?

        • Janos Skorenzy September 25, 2017 at 1:17 pm #

Yes, there is a silver or lining or two here. People are way too obsessed with this stuff and they would do well to step back – and do us a favor as well. And countless young men sustain permanent injuries in high school and college because of the Game. There are safer ways to challenge young men and toughen them up.

And in those small non-white utopian countries always being held up as an example for the flawed USA to follow these fools would be chased and killed by the mobs for not standing and being patriotic during its anthem.

And no the white left is not about solving problems these days, they are playing out the American “Nibelungenlied” of woman scorned and burning it all down, because, just because.

Or if you like, the American white left is like the camp commandant in “Seven Beauties” grossly overweight, deeply cynical and sexually frustrated as all the ideological constructs fall under the weight of reality.

Look at the optics of today’s political theatre, all the post modern taboos are suspect, to the point that threats of violence remain to protect them. Sitting in mildly penurious comfort some eleven time zones away I cannot help but perceive of my erstwhile ‘homeland’ as astonishingly echoing Rome around 300A.D. – at least from the study I’ve done of that point in history.

Bread and circuses, the Praetorians running the show ( = Deep State), silly, cynical if not insane Emperors on parade while the Senate dithers and gathers more wealth.

The barbarians moving in, confidently (I’m pretty much with you on this, Janos, although I’ve chosen to live pretty much as far from the Lone Star State and its bush Baptists as humanly possible).

Is there any major divergence from latter-day Rome (given the difference in technology and temperament, naturally)?

I am not really sure how a collection of sports playing losers worked themselves into the massive scam that is the NFL today and am especially disgusted to see that somehow they purport themselves to be the “conscience the nation”. They are not. They are clowns and entertainers that do not deserve to have the attention that they receive. It is about time that the entertainment craving American public woke itself up to this reality. Oh boy, they play games for a few years and we are supposed to be impressed and bow down before them? Bullshit! Those of us that work hard for fifty years building things and systems that serve society years after our demise have these pussies beaten in spades. Every iron worker, every electrician, mason, carpenter and all the rest whose actually build America rather than simply entertain it, THEY are the heroes. Wake up America send these worthless scum bags back into the oblivion from which they came and take back your dignity and pride in being truly worth something!

And to those poverty addicted “minorities” that cannot seem to rise above the level of stone age primitives, you should all take a lesson from the Asian immigrants who know how to utilize their own labors to improve their lot in life. Or you can just petition the Federal Reserve to print you all up a million bucks apiece and bail you all out like the banker-thieves. But that would not really work, would it? You would all return to poverty within the week for those who do not labor for value never understand what it was that they were actually working for nor do they ever appreciate it do they?

      Walter B,
Unfortunately you neglect the reality of big differences in IQ. That is why millions of blacks will remain in the underclass, while Asians, with higher IQ’s than whites, will continue to succeed. The one thing that blacks dominate in are certain sports due to their superior athletic DNA. IQ and DNA are destiny. I hate football, but know I belong to a tiny minority of men. As long as there is a demand for this brutal game, there will be plenty of young, highly motivated young black men to supply it, even though there will be fewer and fewer white parents willing to allow their young sons to get their brains scrambled and their bodies broken by playing it.

      • Walter B September 25, 2017 at 1:52 pm #

Oh I neglected it alright to avoid being branded with the Scarlet “R”. A white guy like me cannot point out many things that are apparent if not certain, because just like Barney the Purple Dinosaur points out, “Everyone is special in his or her or it’s own way”, right? No one is stupid, lazy, evil, or otherwise not special, right Barney?

      • malthuss September 25, 2017 at 2:27 pm #

Most Americans suspect that Blacks commit the majority of crime in this country. They are, in a word, correct. However, the government takes great strides to cover this up. From the federal on down to the city level, our rulers are loathe to release data on crime that includes racial breakdowns. Such data disrupts the preferred narratives about race in this country.
However, there are a handful of cities that do let the public see the number, and, no matter the city, it is Blacks who are running riot. Philadelphia is one those few forthright cities, so we will start there. To begin, here are the demographics for the city in 2016, according to the US Census:
and 25% Amerindian, be considered mestizos or White?
Regardless, even the racial breakdowns I adjusted above very likely still overestimate the White share of arrestees and underestimate the share of mestizos.
In short, Whites and Asians commit murders at a rate vastly under proportion to their share of the population. Hispanics are slightly under their share of the population. Blacks, meanwhile, are incredibly overrepresented.

This was the case before America had a Black president and it was true after. It was true before the concept of “White privilege” entered the mainstream and it was true after. It was true before Black Lives Matter came into being, and it is true now.

Black murder and violence is a constant in this American life. Gilbert Cavanaugh has shown that it is true in Minneapolis. Over a year ago, in the monograph The Color of Crime, American Renaissance noted it was true in New York and Chicago. And it is true in St. Louis as well — another city surprisingly willing to give citizens the racial numbers on crime. St. Louis is worth looking at closely because the Hispanic shar
The government is constantly trying to integrate the races. Meanwhile Whites, whether or not they make it explicit, are forever trying to avoid non-Whites, especially Blacks. The government forces integration through busing, Section 8 housing in White suburbs, affirmative action, quotas, amnesty, and “refugee” resettlement. Whites in turn fight back by sending their children to private schools, moving to the suburbs, fleeing integrating neighborhoods, tolerating astronomically high rents, supporting the right to conceal and carry firearms, and upholding “stand your ground” and other generous self-defense laws. This is the simplest reason why the majority of Whites vote Republican. On all the issues that serve as proxies for dealing with and avoiding racial integration, Republicans help instead of hinder. While the GOP is far from being explicitly identitarian, the sudden arrival of Section 8 housing, or the ability to obtain a voucher so you can send your daughter to Catholic school can make or break an idyllic childhood.
What is described here, has been going on for decades. Consider the Duke Lacrosse case as compared to the ignored millions of black on white rapes.
Millions = 50,000 x 100 years or include prison rapes and get HOW MANY MILLIONS?
We are governed and oppressed by a hostile elite that dances for joy at our demise. We need to band together, avoid violence, speak softly, acquire resources and constantly nibble like termites at the establishment. We must never give up, we can succeed if we chose to, If we believe we can.

Asian IQ scores cluster around the mean; thus, the cognitive variation among Whites produces more geniuses, but also more morons.
IQ studies are normed for every conceivable variable and have been confirmed on twins and trans-racial adoption studies, but the racial IQ gap persists, including on non-verbal tests such Raven’s Matrices, digit span, and mental chronometry.
Also Blacks consider only the present; they learn little from the past; they don’t consider the future. But even so, non-brainwashed Blacks know that the 3rd world immigrants are not their friends, and likely to become the enemy.
Blacks are the only race never to have civilized
No modern creations exist in sub-Saharan Africa that were not brought there by Whites.
Without continuous intervention, Blacks cannot even maintain what Whites gave them. Abos are in a similar fix.
19 of the 20 poorest countries are sub-Saharan African.
The reason for my slavery lesson at September 19, 2017 at 10:34 am #
is because it would do a world of good for people, especially blacks in America, to be taught some basics about the history of world slavery, so that they can get rid of the grudge about it and perhaps begin to heal the wound of feeling that they got such contemptible treatment because they were black. Sure, that may have been what the whites told themselves at that time, but there have been many iterations of slavery and all races have been enslaved.
Whites have been enslaved, and made into eunuchs and so on, many times. There were slave raids into old Europe and white people and children were brought down to the Mediterranean slave markets. The ancient Greeks were dependent upon slaves. Plato wrote sublime spiritual things, but had slaves and in no way was against it. The current racist backlash against whites needs to be stopped because it is just our turn lately. All sorts of bad things have been perpetrated by nearly everyone in history, and unless I miss my guess we’re soon going to find out how kind the (cruel) Chinese are.
And in fact, blacks, at least in America, constantly test extremely high for self esteem.
They are also very unlikely to commit suicide.
There are no White Third-World nations, but all Black ones are.

Blacks are proto-humans; modern man evolved by hybridizing with the large-brain Neanderthals:
        • Blacks = 2% Archaic admixture
        • Whites = 4% Neanderthal
        • Asians = 5% Neanderthal + Denisovan
Genetic distance is a measure of the genetic divergence between populations. Blacks have a genetic distance of 0.23 from Whites and Asians, but only 0.17 from Erectus.
That means Blacks are more genetically proximate to archaic man than to modern man.
Blacks are the only race with no DNA from the large-brain Neanderthals. Civilizations didn’t begin until the Neanderthal hybridization created the larger brains in modern man:
        Brain Size by Race:
        • Black = 1267 cm³
        • White = 1347 cm³
        • Asian = 1364 cm³
        Brain Weight by Race:
        • Black = 1261 g
        • White = 1387 g
        • Asian = 1374 g
Whites’ brains are faster, larger, denser, and more complex than Blacks’ brains:
        • 7% larger
        • 126 grams heavier
        • deeper fissuration in the frontal and occipital regions
        • more complex convolutions
        • larger frontal lobes

IQ is mostly not based on the size of the human brain. What makes up so-called IQ (an artificially derived concept) is the number of connections between brain cells – IOW, the strength of the neural network. Many people with smaller brains have higher IQs than those with larger ones.

Large brain size = high. IQ is a fallacy.

Superb breakdown. The mixing of White and Hispanic statistics is maddening and criminal itself. Can you give any link about the Homo Erectus connection? I conjectured as much, based on the book “Homo Erectus Walks Among Us”, but has more been done since he ruined his career with it?

Excessive Black clowning and preening is a huge problem. Zero sportsmanship and grossly offensive to White sensibilities. One got fined for stimulating a sex act after a tackle. Another one lifted his leg to simulate a male dog urinating. And of course the Touchdown Dance minstrel show.

          • beantownbill. September 26, 2017 at 12:55 pm #

I have no hatred of Whites; you jump to conclusions because you think I’m a liberal Jew (who are ok in my book, albeit a little naive). But you don’t know me at all; I’m no liberal. I prefer to think of myself as rational. I don’t think hatred is rational. In fact, that’s what has put humanity in the shape it’s in now.

Since there are more Blacks in the NFL than Whites, of course there’s more Black showboating. Again you are jumping to conclusions – just because you see more Blacks posturing you think they have more tendencies to posture because they are black. To me, that is irrational thinking.

          • Janos Skorenzy September 26, 2017 at 1:08 pm #

Blacks showboat way more than others. Whites imitate them. Your ideology gets in the way of clear observation and clear analysis.

    • My Point of View September 25, 2017 at 7:19 pm #

Thank you Walter. I’m one of those who admire accomplishments like the Golden Gate Bridge, Empire State Building, Hoover Dam, busy rail yards, Iowa-Class battleships, Grand Central Terminal and a thousand other great structures. One of my favorite old buildings is the Pentagon where I worked a few times as a civilian and found it a fascinating place. I was at my desk on 9-11 when the plane hit and was glad to be wrapped amid 350,000 cubic yards of concrete sitting on 17,000 telephone poles pounded into the swampland.

I’ve spent a lot of time looking at photos on the Library of Congress website from the Great Depression of guys who built the dams for the TVA region. Captions noted some guys only had 2nd grade educations but hard skills that put those dams into place and stopped the annual flooding of Nashville and other areas in the region. Building this country was a job done by both black and white Americans which is something we can all be very proud of.

I think we are seeing the beginning of the end of the National Football League. Why on earth this country is so enamored with a game that turns your mind to mush is beyond me. I think they should remove the military and the flag and the national anthem from the games. The time has come to address the systemic racism in this country, and there is only one way to do it. Make serious examples out of any cop that kills a black man or woman or child under suspicious circumstances. Make it the equivalent of a hate crime or anti-trust crime, with treble the penalty. No more wink wink, nod nod look the other way. Face it. Head on. End it. Frankly I’m sick of talking about it. I cannot believe in 2017 America is still on this broken record.

    • Graycenphil September 25, 2017 at 10:25 am #

An important part of that would be the definition of “suspicious circumstances”. The cops shouldn’t be above the law, but they are entitled to fair treatment under the law too.

And of course it should apply to killing anyone, not just black men and women.

      • michics September 25, 2017 at 10:51 am #

Part of the reason Cops get away unpunished is they have been given an escape clause. “I feared for my life” They can use this in almost all situations and the courts are siding with them.

      • Walter B September 25, 2017 at 11:08 am #

Absolutely. Any event where an armed person kills an unarmed other person should be thoroughly investigated and dealt with fairly though it surely will never happen. I argue with my police family and friends that if even occasionally a wrongful shooting was admitted to (they certainly DO happen) then perhaps the public would not have such a strong case for “taking care of their own” (which certainly DOES happen). On the other side, any person that is accosted by any law enforcement officer had better think a little bit about how they behave. I was pulled over by a cop late at night in 1980 for what I had no clue. After sitting there for over 20 minutes waiting for something to happen, I opened my door, stepped out and turned to face the cop car behind mine. I was greeted by the sight of the cop kneeling behind his open door pointing his pistol at me and yelling “Get back in the car!” “Yes sir” I quickly replied and complied without word. In the end it turned out that he had stopped my similar vehicle to the one he was looking for and it all worked out without me getting shot. I am of the opinion that a little bit more thinking and a little less bravado might be the best way to reduce the number of wrongful deaths from such incidents.

          • Graycenphil September 25, 2017 at 11:37 am #

First of all, the kid was not killed, so let’s start with facts.

The kid had a “toy” gun that looked exactly like a real gun. It’s not like he was playing in the sandbox with a water pistol. The event was tragic, and perhaps could have been handled better (I would say that almost any police shooting could have been handled better, and that is in no way a criticism of the cops), but it sems to havebeen a justifiable shooting. I might question the statement that the kid was shot while running away, but I trust that was properly invetigated.

The fact is that the vast majority of police shootings are justified. And even the unjustified ones could have been prevented by the victim in most cases. That doesn’t make them acceptable, but it does suggest another path to reduce the numbers.

Sounds to me you never saw a shooting you couldn’t justify.

          • Graycenphil September 25, 2017 at 12:08 pm #

There have been lots of shootings that were not justified. In some cases the cops went to jail. In other cases, there was not enough evidence to convict them. Some of them were fired; some were not.

But the fact remains that the vast majority of police shootings are justified. More importantly, many of the high profile ones that lead to protests also turn out to be justified. In the long run, that only hurts the cause of those protesting the shootings.

People see these massive protests, and even riots, and then the facts wind up implicating the victim. Then when a truly bad shooting does happen, people are less likely to believe the complaints. Kind of like the boy who cried wolf.

There was a video of him shooting a fleeing unarmed man. He pleaded guilty. This is not what I am asking for. Show me the due process working for blacks. A conviction by the courts.

          • Graycenphil September 25, 2017 at 12:43 pm #

He was arrested, charged and plead guilty. What’s wrong wth that?

          • seawolf77 September 25, 2017 at 12:51 pm #

Due process means the courts. Show me a court case where a cop killed a black man and was arrested and convicted by the courts and sent to jail. And don’t bring up the Katrina bridge shootings. They were found innocent by Louisiana courts and the Feds had to step in.

          • Graycenphil September 25, 2017 at 12:58 pm #

Due proccess does involve the courts, but for the most part it refers to the rights of the defendent, in this case the cop. So it probably isn’t the term you want to use here.

That said, the Walter Scott case did involve, as you say, “the courts”. That’s where he was indicted and that’s where he pled guilty. If he hasn’t already been sentenced, that is also where he will be sentenced.

But since you ask for a jury conviction, I’ll suggest Peter Liang, the NYC cop indicted for manslaughter in an accidental shooting a few years ago.

The perpetrator was Asian American. I am talking about a white cop killing a black man, arrested and convicted by the courts and now in jail.

          • Graycenphil September 25, 2017 at 1:41 pm #

I’m not sure where you are going here. I have stated several times that cops do commit unjistified killings. You then stated that I never saw a shooting I couldn’t justify. I’m not even sure where that came from.

You mentioned a kid killed by a cop, but linked to a story about a kid who was not killed. I pointed that error out.

But then you asked for an unjustified one, even though I have stated that there are unjustified ones. I gave you such a case.

Then you said, no you want an unjustified one that went ttrough the courts. I pointed out that that one did go through the courts.

Then you wanted one that went throught the courts, but also had a conviction by a jury. I gave you that too.

Then you said it had to be a white cop, not an Asian cop, (even though your original post said “any cop”) that was convicted by a jury and is in jail now. What’s next, he has to be a close relative of the judge too?

But I’ll indulge you yet again: Robert Bates. White cop, black victim, convicted by jury, in jail. Good enough?

Of course, this all started when you yourself suggested that due process should not be given to the cop. Both I and our host had to call you out on that one.

          • seawolf77 September 25, 2017 at 2:25 pm #

2nd degree manslaughter and 4 years. That’s the best you got? For taking another man’s life? Really?

          • Graycenphil September 25, 2017 at 3:09 pm #

I correct your mistakes, and give you the facts for everything you ask for. You just keep asking for more. Like I said before, will you be insisting that the cop be the judge’s brother before you’re satisfied? I’m not sure where you are going with this or when it ends, but it’s getting kind of silly.

The truth is that most police shootings are justified. Some are not. Some of the most recent protests were over justified shootings. That’s not good.

Beyond that, we have due process that applies to everyone, and that requires evidence beyond a reasonable doubt. There are undoubtedly cases of unjustified shootings, but lacking adequate proof, the cop is not charged or is acquitted. That’s just the way our system works, and works that way on both sides. It’s not perfecr, but it’s better than the alternative.

          • seawolf77 September 25, 2017 at 3:26 pm #

I show you the paucity of convictions and you simply ignore the facts. When it comes to white policemen killing black men, police get away with murder all the time.
Young black men were nine times more likely than other Americans to be killed by police officers in 2015, according to the findings of a Guardian study that recorded a final tally of 1,134 deaths at the hands of law enforcement officers this year.
200 cases a year, every year. 2,000 a decade. 200,000 a century. And you bring me 2nd degree manslaughter and 4 years of prison time as an example of due process. You really should be ashamed of yourself.

          • seawolf77 September 25, 2017 at 3:27 pm #

            20,000 a century.

          • seawolf77 September 25, 2017 at 3:30 pm #

And it’s not better than the alternative, which is to police the police better. There should be a new division in all police departments that investigates blacks being murdered by cops. Invariably there is systemic racism involved that could be sniffed out.

          • Graycenphil September 25, 2017 at 4:40 pm #

First of all, you’re still not understanding due process. Due process is not a system to get people convicted; it is the sytem that insures the accused have every opportunity to defend themselves.

I’m not ignoring any facts and you aren’t showing me any paucity of convictions. All you are doing is asking me for examples, and I keep providing what you ask for.

We’re all aware that too many balck people are killed by cops. Too many white people are killed by cops too. Still, in the vast majority of these cases, the killing is justified. In most of the rest, there is insufficient evidence to convict the cop. By no stretch of the imagination do cops “get away with murder all the time”. That does sometimes happen, just as civilians get away with murder sometimes. That’s the unfortunate result of a less than perfect criminal justice system that bends over backward to protect the accused.

It is also a result of class differences. In most cases, the cops have excellent defense attorneys. This has nothing to do with race; black cops have killed both black and white people.

Blacks are indeed killed proportionally more than whites by police officers (though I believe more whites are still killed in total). There may even be some racism basis to this, but that is because the racism has resulted in a society where blacks are more likely to commit crimes. They are also more likely to be involved with police officers, for various reasons, possibly including institutional racism, but more likely just class differences.

Nobody is suggesting that all police shootings should not be thoroughly investigated. I’m all for it. That is, by the way, a far better suggestion than “making serious examples of any cop that kills a black man…under suspicious circumstances”.

At the end of the day, if we really want to reduce the number of police killiings, just stop committing crimes. And if you are detained, questioned or arrested by the police, behave yourself. As I said earlier, almost every police killing I can think of could have been prevented by the victim. That doesn’t make it okay, but it does make it preventable.

          • Graycenphil September 25, 2017 at 4:46 pm #

“Young black men are 9 times more likely than other Americans to be killed by police officers”, by the way, is such a poor and misleading statistic That it should be classified as a lie.

You are comparing young black men to the rest of the population, including babies, elderly women, teenage girls and old men. That is basically meanigless.

What you want to do is compare young black men to young white men. If you can’t find the number, I will get it for you.

What about black men killing other black men? That’s most of the problem. YTD (as of 9/25), there have been 517 homicides in Chicago (from heyjackass.com). As of 9/18, 395 of the victims were black. Most of the perps have not been caught, but of the ones that were, 52 were black, 10 were police, 5 were Hispanic and 2 were whites/other. 8 were classified as self defense and 432 were unknown.

In 2016, the city recorded a total of about 800 homicides up from 509 in 2015. The BLM protests in Chicago and other cities probably encouraged the police to be more careful in 2016 and to protect their own careers and lives. Less aggressive policing probably cost almost 300 residents their lives.

There is no “systemic racism” in a country where a black man was the highest official. Sorry. It just is not so.

      • sophia September 25, 2017 at 3:31 pm #

That is correct. There are also very many blacks serving in high positions such as mayor. And more whites are shot by cops than blacks, correcting for their numbers in the population. Also, whites rarely shoot at cops.

          • Sean Coleman September 25, 2017 at 4:38 pm #

It could be different statistics measuring different things. Your Guardian article says nine times more likely than ‘other Americans’ but “four times the rate of young white men’.

In this BBC article (sympathetic to BLM) it is claimed that the rate is three times.

            bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-32740523

The Independent (Britain) puts it at more than twice as high.

I certainly don’t trust any of the above sources to be objective.

          • Sean Coleman September 25, 2017 at 4:45 pm #

This article, on the other hand, argues that the rate is higher than would be expected from the black proportion of the population but less when compared with their estimated proportion of suspects “confronted in violent encounters or the Afro-American percentage of suspects who kill police officers.”

            ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17451000

            “That is pure baloney.
Young black men were nine times more likely than other Americans to be killed by police officers in 2015, according to the findings of a Guardian study that recorded a final tally of 1,134 deaths at the hands of law enforcement officers this year”

            Wolfie,
            9 times more likely? Why?

          • sophia September 25, 2017 at 9:26 pm #

They commit more crimes Seawolf, and more violent ones, and most of the murders, and in most of the cases of these unarmed blacks getting shot, they had just committed crimes and were avoiding arrest and not cooperating. So, they were both dangerous, and acting erratically.

          • Doug September 26, 2017 at 3:45 pm #

Because young blacks are committing serious crimes at 10 times the rate of whites. They are basically committing ALL the violent and other crimes. I see it every night on my TV screen. Surveillance cameras say what the newsreaders don’t.

There have been some outrageous cases of police acting illegally, but the CDC database shows that police, when interacting with the public, police are twice as likely to shoot a white person compared to blacks. And the CDC has the largest and most definitive database for this kind of information, so, anyone claiming that blacks are being unfairly attacked by police is wrong. I know it feels that way, but it’s not factual. It’s lies.

      • Doug September 26, 2017 at 3:42 pm #

You’re right, so many lies and liars. The current NFL nonsense of disrespecting the National Anthem claiming systemic racism — or something like that –has it’s roots in a long string of misrepresentation and propaganda from MSM outlets and politician’s (most notably Obama) propagating this same incorrect information from about 3 years earlier.

The entirely justified shooting of proven thug Michael Brown is the source of the bullshit “hands up, don’t shoot” protests and part of the Black Lives Matter nonsense. It’s all bullshit and both of these “movements” are based on lies.

The lies came from Media propaganda race baiters and politicians that keep repeating these lies for years. That’s the Left’s modus operandi: keep repeating lies or falsehoods often enough and it begins to have the feeling of facts— even when it’s not true. As a result, there’s been frequent “hands up don’t shoot” protests for the past several years and as far away as in London but it’s all based on lies.

The Black Lives Matter was based on widely perceived unfair shootings of black suspects by white cops. It’s lies. And no media outlet would ever report facts that correct these prevailing falsehoods, so the lies have taken on a life on their own. This suits the Left Wing media’s goal of attacking police and white people while hiding the despicable nature and huge numbers of black criminals and shocking levels of crime in black areas. They never expose the virtual war zone that police operate in when confronting black suspects.

Then there’s the highly despicable Michael Brown case, where a young and fat black thug robbed and roughed-up a convenience store clerk just minutes before his attack on Officer Wilson in Ferguson. What’s really despicable here is that ABC News was running with the entirely made-up story that Michael was an angelic guy headed to college even days after video was widely available about his robbery and assault at the convenience store.

Then protests erupted based on false reporting and black businesses in Ferguson are destroyed and black people are injured. If it were left to the black politicians, black race- baiters and protesters, they would surely pursue mob justice. But in civilized white America, we have rule of law and due process. Months later the Grand Jury declined to indict Wilson.

The Ferguson riots became a media circus full of poseurs and race baiters. The whole story really fell apart but black people clung to the racist charges because that’s what they are taught.

I read the transcript from the Grand Jury inquiry into the Michael Brown shooting. First of all, witnesses confirm that Michael was assaulting officer Wilson while he was seated in his car. (his 2nd assault in 20 minutes!) He was enraged and completely out of control. Michael was trying to gain control of Wilson’s gun by reaching into the car and wrestle away the gun. Can you imagine? Brown WAS insane or had a death wish. Then, most witnesses said that Michael at first was walking away then turned and charged at Wilson causing the gunshots that killed him. This charging was confirmed by forensic evidence. He might have had his hands up as Wilson commanded but he still was charging. So, the media lies and never corrects the record.

So. fast forward 3 years, and idiot Kaepernick started to protest alleged racism at football games. Did anyone ask him to be more specific?? I doubt it. Now you have entire black-dominated NFL involved in this idiotic protesting — all based on false stories and fake news. The MSM must be proud.

    • Janos Skorenzy September 25, 2017 at 1:29 pm #

Yes, there’s truth in that. I don’t like football either, but Men are willing to risk their health and lives in pursuit of victory, wealth, or just for the thrill of accomplishment and danger. Blacks find the life threatening sports bizarre and believe the largely Nordic Whites who engage in them to be crazy and dangerous. But I defend the rights of both groups to put their bodies on the line in pursuit of excellence as they understand it.

But yes, the young boys injured for life in high school, boys who never had a chance of making money with it or even going beyond high school or lower level college play.

    • sophia September 25, 2017 at 3:15 pm #

Seawolf, the stats tell a different story. A black person in the course of being arrested is more likely to be shot by a black cop than a white cop. Just because you hear something, does not make it true. when will you left wing lemmings stop opening your mouths like little baby birds begging for the worms of disinformation and gobbling them up? You are so naive! So trusting!

And yet, there was a time when the left (of my youth) knew that the mainstream was not to be trusted, the the government lied. Now that they’re older they’ve gone soft in the head.

    • My Point of View September 25, 2017 at 7:23 pm #

I watch less football every year, the game is getting boring and the 3+ hours of TV time is so full of stinking commercials that I just won’t watch it unless I record a game and fast forward through all the crap. Like baseball, I watch the highlight reels and call it a done deal.

  5. Cavepainter September 25, 2017 at 10:26 am #

Guess I missed something; I thought the NFL today recruited mostly out of prisons.

Being 80, I remember my two brothers, brother-in-law and uncle returning to civilian life following service in WWII embarrassed by necessity of piecing together daily wardrobe that included military uniform — they were anxious to be viewed as civilians rather than warriors though decorated for that service.

    And,…..Ella could actually sing.

  6. Phutatorius September 25, 2017 at 10:27 am #

I was shocked last year when I attended a professional symphony orchestra concert to find that it opened with the national anthem. It wasn’t even a “pops” concert. I think the word for this sort of excess is jingoism.

    • elysianfield September 25, 2017 at 11:49 am #

“I think the word for this sort of excess is jingoism.”

      Phuta,

Sorry, but I have to disagree with you and, by extension, our Host. A cynical observation of patriotic symbols find the examples quoted merely benefitting the Corporates…that the great unwashed are being shamelessly manipulated for the good of dark objectives.

What is one of the human responses to citizenship, if not pride in the country or tribe in which you belong? Who has not, in their youth, been a participant in a fly-over and not had the hair raise on the back of their necks…even in these jaded times, the crowd still roar….

Who pays for the flyover? Your taxes at work…and I , not once, begrudged the cost.

I can accept your argument regarding jingoism if you can give me a few examples of countries that do not have an anthem…that do not promote in their citizens a sense of pride.

To deny citizenship, to deny jingoism, is the first step to Globalization….

I agree with you. I admire the way the Americans take their anthem and their flag seriously, in much the same way as I was pleased when I came to Ireland thirty years ago to see that a few people still made the sign of the cross when passing a church (as I had done in my childhood in London). I would not have thought this way about anthems and flags back in that time but I have changed my mind. If you Americans don’t have this then what is there to hold the country together?

I think it might be the “First Family” phenomena: as real family structure becomes weaker in America, we look more to symbolism from the White House. Once upon a time, a bachelor could become President. No chance now. Likewise perhaps, a America ceases to be a Nation, the people behind it will rev up the symbolism to calm people’s fears.

I didn’t believe those stories about Michele Obama being a man with a full package. But she probably was a “beard”. At least according to those in Chicago who remember Bathhouse Barry O. Then there’s the curious case of Joan Rivers dying during minor surgery after she said some things about Obama best left unsaid.

    Well said, Jim.

What do you suppose would have happened to the court jester back in the day if he decided to use the time allotted to bowing to the king to stand up as a sign of solidarity in protest of the treatment of other non-royal citizens? A quick trip to the guillotine I would surmise.

Those millionaire clowns being paid to play with a ball should get down on their knees every morning and thank God with all their hearts that they were born in this country and not Africa or the middle-east or some other third-world shit-hole. I don’t recall a lot of millionaire ball players in those areas.

As usual, Americans are collectively worried about the wrong things. Of course the politicians, to include the GGG, love to divert our attention from the myriad things that really matter, and redirect it to focus on the act of kneeling, and now linking arms, not coming out on the field, stretching, etc. during the National Anthem. Honestly who cares? Apparently some folks. Me personally, if an American Citizen, regardless of their status in life, wants to take a knee during the anthem to protest something, so be it. At least it’s not smashing store windows, burning and overturning cars, etc. and did anyone read the accounts of the behavior of the police in St. Louis the other day? Frankly, the police have gotten out of hand, imho. They have an unenviable job, but they chose it, and in a lot of places they aren’t living up to the social contract they have with us.

    • Beryl of Oyl September 25, 2017 at 11:35 am #

I think it’s partly that they are being deployed in places where the government already broke the social contract with the citizens.

“Honestly who cares? Apparently some folks. Me personally, if an American Citizen, regardless of their status in life, wants to take a knee during the anthem to protest something, so be it. ”

      Chucky,
Who cares? I do. It is an affront to our country and culture. The fact that those clowns have a right to protest does not mean I have to like it, or to respect their motives….

“Frankly, the police have gotten out of hand, imho”

You have taken a pull on the jug of Kool Aid on this topic…you accept the Media’s spin. Law Enforcement is not out of control…there are, as usual, egregious incidents, a few, and these are to be expected when a majority of cops are…human. With the intensity of repetition the media is generating, it seems like untoward incidents are occurring every day, every hour, but statistically, the events, while outrageous, are insignificant in number.

While the event currently in the news is being decried to the heavens, millions upon millions of police-citizen contacts have occurred….and do so every day. Where are the thousands of new outrages?

      Perspective, please.

      • chuckyzfr1 September 25, 2017 at 4:50 pm #

You’re entitled to be outraged at protestors if you so choose.

With regard to the police issue, I could just as easily accuse you of taking a pull on Fox News’s kool aid, if you actually do believe that there is no problem with our police, and the instances cited by the press just amount to anomalies.

I’m one of the most suspicious consumers of news, but when you can watch endless cellphone video on YouTube of cops bristling with military gear, taunting citizens with insults, jeering at them, beating them, it should give you pause.

Maybe the dozen or so stories people told about the behavior of the St. Louis cops were all fabricated, or cherry picked. But I don’t think so. A close friend of my wife’s, who is a cop in an urban area near us, bragged about how they just summarily shoot dogs that approach them on calls. It’s become so commonplace that it doesn’t make the news anymore. Utterly unconscionable imho.

The plain fact for me personally is that I’m a member of the ruling elite class; white, reasonably affluent, college educated. Every single encounter I personally have had with the police has reflected this. Even when I’ve done something idiotic, like ride a 3-gear wheelie down the highway, they’ve always been professional and courteous to me. At the same time, if I turn a blind eye towards how the police treat my less fortunate fellow citizens, I can be sure that it’s just a matter of time until they morph into something that I will one day have to fear as well.

        • elysianfield September 25, 2017 at 5:36 pm #

” Every single encounter I personally have had with the police has reflected this. Even when I’ve done something idiotic, like ride a 3-gear wheelie down the highway, they’ve always been professional and courteous to me.

          Chucky,
You prove my point…your experiences do not reflect your premise…you make an assumption that others are treated shabbily because of their race…but you have never been involved in an incident, nor observed one from the beginning. You have, I am sorry to say, no perspective other than that which you see on the Tee Vee.

Premise; What if blacks are prone to obstructive behavior, argument, and refusal to accept lawful orders? What if it is a cultural thing? What if their feelings of victimization overcome their good common sense?

My best advice to you would be to participate in a ride-along program at your nearest urban law enforcement agency.

          P.S. I don’t watch Fox news.

I agree with most of the previous comments this morning. And regarding the NFL, I too am tired of the whole organization. My opinion is that the players are employees of the team owners and chose to be there to entertain us. That’s the product the owners are selling. Entertainment! That being said Kappernick should have been fired by the 49er’s the first time he kneeled for bring unfavorable press on his employer. All the rest of the working stiffs surely would be if we did something like this to bring ill press to our company. If the 49er’s had done this we would not be talking about it year later. Would have been done and over with.
In regards to the NFL in general they have been going in the wrong direction for years. A couple examples: Games used to over in 3 hours. Not it takes 3.5 to 4 do the continues reviews of plays. And the players are at fault as well. Watch how slow they move on the field anymore. They walk back to the huddle, walk from the huddle to the line, The get 45 seconds between plays and take every bit of it. The game can put you to sleep. Did anyone see the Bears player yesterday on a long run to the end zone slow to a walk so he could celebrate and got caught by a defensive player who knocked the ball lose ? It was ridiculous. That player should be benched. But no. If they did that then some people would say that was his right celebrate. No wonder attendance is down. And as for the rightous NASCAR, they have their problems as well. Way to many driver penalties and constant tweaking of the rules. Let them race!

I’ve read the comments. As far as any so called difference between the noble, heroic working man in America and the overpaid athlete prima donnas, no such difference exists.

It’s consistently been my experience that the working class men are the biggest supporters of sports, worship athletes, and consistently spend their paychecks driving to the games and buying up all the merchandise.

“Taking the knee” is just more virtue signaling. What does it actually accomplish? It gives the impression of something worthwhile without any actual substance. It’s the flip-side of the posturing you see among White campus snowflakes. In those bubbles of narcissism for the absurdly privileged does any of their ululating help any object of their exaggerated concern? Nope, and that’s the point. It’s the easy way out because they’re not willing to help. Incur hardship or expense or inconvenience? You must be joking. All the dirty work is for someone else. Gestures are as far as they’re willing to go. It’s all about “look at me, look at me.”.

    Rise above it.

The infamous Nazi Salute was adopted by the party in the 1930s and was a ‘compulsory’ greeting for all Germans as a sign of demonstration of respect and loyalty to the Fuhrer.
During the 1936 rally, in the presence of Hitler himself, one man, August Landmesser.
    refused to salute.

August Landmesser joined the Nazi party in 1931, slowly working his way up. But just two years after joining, Landmesser met Irma Eckler, a Jewish woman and fell madly in love, swiftly proposing to her in 1935.

Nothing remains secret in Nazi Germany, and word soon spread of Landmesser’s engagement to Eckler, his love for a Jewish woman led to his expulsion from the Nazi party.

Eckler and Landmesser filed a marriage application in Hamburg, but it was denied under Nuremberg law- a set of rules enforcing Jewish exclusion and further limitation of Jewish rights.
Landmesser and Eckler welcomed a little girl, Ingrid in October 1935.

Less than a year later Landmesser crossed his arms during the famous 1936 rally, in what would become one of the most famous photos taken during the second World War.

As Nazi Germany became more and more powerful, Landmesser saw the need to escape with his family. He attempted to defect to Denmark with his wife and child. However, were unfortunately stopped and detained at the border. Landmesser and his family were charged with “dishonouring the race” and “racial infamy.”

Their story does not have a happy ending and it is a story not off-topic regarding this latest Trumpsh embarrassment.

    The famous photo

We are in a situation now where some Americans do well and some do not because our economic system currently encourages disparity as never before. Many Americans are now being left behind the prosperity train at breakneck speed. Many happen to be black.

I do not watch the NFL, and none of its players is among my heroes. They are certainly paid extravagantly – whether enough to compensate them for orthopedic and cerebral compromise is for each to decide for himself, I suppose. But, after seeing the way Kaepernick has been de facto blacklisted by NFL owners, I do think these guys deserve some respect for risking so much for a show of principle.
The point isn’t whether guys who get paid more per game than I have been in my lifetime have much to complain about; it is that they have a huge forum for getting the public’s attention, in this sports-crazed society. Eric Garner couldn’t get the cops to pay attention when he told them they were choking him to death. Public revulsion over police using excessive force against black miscreants has failed to get the attention of police review boards or of our judicial system. But a comparative handful of big guys in shoulder pads, enabled by a loud-mouthed knucklehead in the Oval Office, are damn sure getting everyone’s attention.
The problem is not unpatriotic football players, it is undisciplined police violence against blacks. I can imagine a more apposite solution than this brouhaha at NFL games, but I do not see one at hand. If America’s NFL gladiators can use their big stage to catalyze some change in American law enforcement, then good for them.

Tony the Weiner got 21 months for sexting a kid. Hillary’s State Dept emails were found on his lap-top. You can’t make this shit up. How Hillary avoided the slammer is beyond me.

        • outsider September 25, 2017 at 11:55 am #

I understand that Weiner’s 15 month sentence won’t start until November. That may give him plenty of time to appeal.

          • beantownbill. September 25, 2017 at 6:06 pm #

Wiener got 21 months, and part of his plea deal was that he couldn’t appeal if his sentence was between 21-27 months.

    • Beryl of Oyl September 25, 2017 at 11:50 am #

Hillary is actually trying to use Weiner’s travails to get sympathy for herself.
The allegation was made that this girl contacted Anthony in order to influence the election.
Okay, lets look more closely at that. Yes, I believe this girl was put up to getting in touch with Anthony, but as far as to harm Hillary, whoever put her up to it would have had to know that Hillary had emails on Anthony’s computer.
How would anyone outside of Huma know that?
I do think there should be an investigation and charges against whoever misused this girl, but that will never happen.
Hillary blithely blames both Weiner and Comey for her loss, without mentioning the fact of they wayward emails being at the root of it.
      What a piece of work.

      • volodya September 25, 2017 at 2:51 pm #

Yeah, it was emails and the fact that she’s as phony as a three dollar bill and has never answered a question in her life and a veritable shit-load of other stuff that disqualified her for the presidency ten times over.

  15. Beryl of Oyl September 25, 2017 at 11:04 am #

This wasn’t stirred up by this president. It was stirred up by the previous one.
Colin Kaepernick wasn’t reacting to any grievances, he was trying to impress his girlfriend, a member of BLM, which is the creation of the MSM, to help distract while America goes under.
    Distract from what?
Distract from who it is that is pulling America under.

Those military/patriotism displays were merely another example of a distraction. Since I don’t follow football (my interest in the sport began and ended with Broadway Joe), I was not aware that these excessive displays were a relatively new thing. Since 2009, in fact. Gee, what happened in 2009 that needed to be distracted from?
Now that there is a new guy in the White House, and I mean really new, that particular distraction isn’t of any use, in fact, it is actually counter-productive to the agenda.
What do our anthem and flag have to do with police overreach in America? Precious little.
So when we see some smitten dummy staging his own little protest, and we see his employer allowing it, and a president falsely stating he (the dummy) had the right, and the MSM even inventing a new term for his ridiculous display of ego (taking a knee?), we have to take a closer look at what is really going on here.
Some people are criticizing the current president for making a big deal over this, as in ignore it and it will go away, but this latest insult to the fans was planned before the president’s tweets.
What he’s really doing is calling attention to the fact that this is really a media story, the vast majority of America either are unaware of what is going on in the NFL, don’t care, or are opposed to it.

    • seawolf77 September 25, 2017 at 11:09 am #

When a black man goes to court and when a cop who kills a black man goes to court, the judge sits in between two American flags. That flag is the symbol of the force of the state that black men feel is unfairly used against them. Blacks go to jail in numbers far greater than their per capita representation of the population and cops who kill blacks get off far more than they should.

      • malthuss September 25, 2017 at 11:13 am #

Blacks go to jail in numbers far greater than their per capita representation of the population.

        • seawolf77 September 25, 2017 at 11:32 am #

Have you ben to court lately? The vast majority of people in there are in there on drug charges, almost always cannabis possession. Those are not criminals. Those are kids who now have a criminal record for smoking a plant wrapped with paper. That is not a crime. The crime is putting a person in jail for doing it.

That’s funny. But it’s true. Drug dealers are nothing but Robin Hoods in reverse. They collect the money from the poor, then the government legally collects the money from them.

      • Beryl of Oyl September 25, 2017 at 11:59 am #

Oh, FFS. Do you think Kaepernick really made that leap?
It would have perhaps meant something if he had done some sort of protest on his own time, but hijacking the arena to draw attention to himself was the easiest thing he could have done, short of pushing a La-Z-Boy out there so he could recline in comfort.
Did you ever notice, that the one parent Hillary left out when she made a display of mothers of sons “murdered” by racist white police, was Tina Hunter?
Why did President Obama take a personal interest in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, but when it came to LaQuan McDonald, he studiously ignored it?
Because it would destroy the narrative he’d had the MSM construct so carefully.

Meanwhile, who notices our Constitutional rights being stripped away by an authoritarian Orwellian system called Globalism (or if you prefer The New World Order).

This doesn’t happen naturally or be accident. The Globalist engineers of public opinion play us like idiots with emotional ploys, false flag attacks, MSM propaganda, lies, and disinformation. The demise of Aaron Hernandez brings up a very uncomfortable possibility for the NFL and the entire sport of football. The most damaged people from the sport die and are autopsied in Massachusetts. 95% of them are severely damaged by the sub-concussive continuous battering that football provides, not the obvious concussions that the league is trying to control. In other words, what they are trying to accomplish to stop the carnage does little to stop the damage. Dr. Umalu in the movie Concussion provided evidence that a significant part of the damage happens before the players enter the NFL. Is this the cause of the violence demonstrated by the players towards their families and friends? Very similar behaviors are demonstrated by brain damaged veterans! The NFL has spent millions countering this potential game changer, and continues to do so. The big bucks paid to the players still draws boys to men into this sport, with considerable support from their families. A doctor in Concussion said it well when he said the enemy of the NFL is Mom, who will stop the child abuse of their sons and dry up the talent pool. Now that we seem to be developing a pretty good picture of the damage of CTE, we do not seem to have progressed much since the Roman gladiator games 2000years ago.

Sidebar. The racial politics evident in the NFL currently might change if the athletes, especially Black athletes, start to realize how they are being used by the league much to their health detriment. Maybe their union should worry more about CTE and less about a nebulous Anthem issue. But the the Left would not have this avenue to split apart the USA.

    • seawolf77 September 25, 2017 at 12:18 pm #

The real game is not the NFL or college football. Those activities are just really kid’s pastimes metamorphosized into really big show bizness (and a most wonderful social integrator.)

The game afoot is the constant blinding of the Lumpen to the reality of a Society whose foundation (economic, military, social, etc.) being eroded to the point of collapse.

The goal of the great game is not a touchdown with a point after, or to win the Super Bowl, but for The Evil Power to conquer, by any and all means possible, the once invincible United States of America.

All leading European Heads of States are lacking children in their families, so the don’t give a flying what’s gonna happen after them

France, despite being a member of the UN Security Council with the right of veto, proposed the abolition of this very right and conducted appropriate work among the members of the organization.

Repetition of bloody conflicts like the Syrian one is only a matter of time, and the international community should have more effective tools to stop such tragedies.

It seems that Macron does not understand that if the “atrocities” took place in the world when the five leading countries had a veto, then as soon as this right is eliminated, the number of atrocities will increase by orders of magnitude.

In this connection, a logical question arises: what is behind this Macron initiative? The answer can only be one: the leaders of the Western world have long worked in many respects only for PR, absolutely not thinking about what will happen after them – after all, they have no children to think of their future.

39-year-old French President Emmanuel Macron is childless. Like the British Prime Minister Theresa May, who is married, but childless. The same situation in the personal life of the first Minister of Scotland, Nikola Sturgeon. The same German Chancellor Angela Merkel was married twice, but she also does not have any children. The Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, is single and childless. Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Italy Paolo Gentiloni is married, but the family has no children. Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Leven also has no children. There is no information about the children of the last two prime ministers of Luxembourg. Acting Prime Minister Xavier Bettel is an open gay who joined the homosexual marriage in 2015. It is not reported about the progeny of his predecessor Jean-Claude Juncker.

That’s what the realities of the Western world are. Therefore, it is difficult to expect from a childless man of 39 years, the president of France, who spends on perfumery, makeup artists and other female rubbish more than 25 thousand euros per month something meaningful.

Any serious reform of the UN will either be a consequence of World War III, or its beginning, to which today none of the traditional war arsonists are obviously ready.

At the same time no one doubts that the world will have a new global reformatting. The only question is whether humanity will plunge into socio-historical degradation after this military-political collapse or preserve the remnants of rational culture and thinking.

However, the fact that the Third World War will mean the end of the Bible project – there is no doubt.

“Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and upon His Kingdom, to order it and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”

From a certain standpoint, your military is the ultimate team sport, and the mindset agressively inculcated in the military is of a kind with sports, especially among the members most intimately exposed to hostilities. So, to show the colors at sporting events is good subconscious programming for attracting a steady stream of new blood with the kind of desireable attitudes needed to keep the wheels turning.

    • Gonga Din September 25, 2017 at 11:31 am #

So, to continue, the flyovers are probably budgeted under recruoting.

I think they are exactly that. To the degree that the Pentagon actually “budgets” for anything anyway. I worked operational unit level budgets my last 7 years in the USAF, and I can assure you that anything above the nickel and dime level at which the troops actually operate (and the budget pinch is exceedingly hard 24/7/365) is all considered so much gravy.

Exactly. The legal forward pass was introduced in 1906, although its impact was initially limited due to the restrictions placed on its use. Other rule changes introduced that year included the reduction of the time of play from 70 to 60 minutes and the increase of the distance required for a first down from 5 to 10 yards (9.1 m). To reduce infighting and dirty play between teams, the neutral zone was created along the width of the football.[14] Scoring was also adjusted: field goals were lowered to three points in 1909[10] and touchdowns were raised to six points in 1912.[15] The field was also reduced to 100 yards (91 m) long, but two 10-yard-long end zones were created, and teams were given four downs instead of three to advance the ball 10 yards (9.1 m).[16] The roughing-the-passer penalty was implemented in 1914, and eligible players were first allowed to catch the ball anywhere on the field in 1918.
      Right before World War 1.

The whole military worship before sporting events is there to keep the herd mezmerized and unquestioning of the military expenditures requried to keep this blood sucking system from imploding. I was weary of the national anthem being played before such events during my own high school games in ’70s. Apparently certain segment of the herd really needs such reinforcement to avoid thinking too much.

    • seawolf77 September 25, 2017 at 11:34 am #

I live in Houston and I see some men tear up when the national anthem is played. It’s disgusting. Government is force. Period. Conservatives worship at the altar of violence.

      • lsjogren September 25, 2017 at 12:02 pm #

You sound like a libertarian. So you do not for example support social programs, since they involve the use of force to extract money from those better off economically in order to assist people unable to support themselves financially?

I personally believe in social democracy, an economic system in which the government allows people to keep enough of their earnings to provide enough incentive to facilitate a prosperous market economy, but also extracts taxes to fund programs that address social goals that most of the citizenry believe are moral imperatives for a compassionate society.

The extremes of course are socialism and libertarian, the first providing government of 100% economic authoritarianism, which leads to universal poverty and generally also government terrorism. Libertarianism has never been tried (at least in modern history), so the jury is out, but I think there is good reason that it has never appealed to more than a piddling percentage of the population.

        • lsjogren September 25, 2017 at 12:03 pm #

forgot the rest of the sentence: Libertarianism, which involves 0% economic authoritarianism (or, equivalently but in a less flattering light, 100% economic anarchism)

        • TiredOfTheTreadmill September 25, 2017 at 12:18 pm #

Modern, free-market-based Libertarianism (from the right in the US) is a religion, not a viable social or economic system. It is based on a few untested, economic theories by the Austrian cranks and Chicago school suck ups with no concept of human nature or actual human history earlier than industrialism. The prophets von Mises and Hayek are revered as deeply as Joseph Smith in Utah, with about the same reality coming from their “revelations.”

It is interesting that old school libertarianism in Europe and the earlier US came from the left, where they understood that there is a social element involved in the idea. But leave it to Americans to do what they do best: take something and boil it down to money, and only money.

You’re missing the point. When the national anthem is played some people get emotional because they care about American society, however imperfect, since it consists of their friends, friends of their friends, their families, and so on. It is not an endorsement of the US government. People may despise the government but love the ideals for which it stands. For me, most of all I love liberty.

The biggest mistake the San Francisco 49rs made was making Colin Kapernick the first string quarterback. Oh, how I wish we hadn’t traded Alex Smith to the KC Chiefs (now rated #1 in the NFL).

My neighbor has season tickets to see the “Forty Whiners” (as I call them now). She can now sell her tickets for the same price it would take to buy two soft pretzels at the stadium snack stand. There recent game last Thursday showed the stands more than half empty. (But as it turned out, the game was exciting.)

My cousin played football for the University of Utah (same as Alex Smith). His son is a gifted athlete (and an A student) and is the freshman quarterback for Torrey Pines High School in Sandy Eggo.
He is already being recruited by various colleges. Just a few weeks ago, a top rated football program flew the family out for a game. Good grief–he’s just a freshman.

My son went out for football as a freshman, but I’m glad he didn’t stick with it–every time he got hit, I’d go into panic mode. (He only weighed 115 pounds at the time.)

Agreed. Religion also falls into this camp. If I can’t vote or fight until I’m 18, I should not be forced as a child to go to church. Religion is child abuse. Older hands with family in the OSS/CIA circa Suez Crisis heard comments on Mohammedanism (Not Mao/Stalin) being at the root of WWIII when it comes. Most of them believe that the reason is, people forsook God and the Bible and the simple truths therein, and instead listened to idiots from Harvard with all the latest “scientific studies” , or to devils like Hugh Hefner and Helen Gurley Brown, that having some immediate fun was the only thing that was important. And, to loose morals being portrayed on TV and film. All that, and the government got real big into welfare so that people’s bad choices didn’t bite them in the ass as badly as it did before the welfare state.

A preacher at a revival said something that stuck with me ever since I was a teenager. He said that most people can’t wait to have a drunken orgy around the Golden Calf. He said that was the natural state of man, and that everything good and stable in life required just the opposite of that. That everything good required rules, and discipline.

Just to elaborate, just look overseas. You want diversity? You have it in Spain, where Catalans are trying to have a referendum on secession. Diversity ain’t going so good there. You have diversity in Belgium where French speaking Walloon don’t get along worth a damn with Dutch speaking Flem. Not going so good there either. These are just two examples. There’s a ton more. In Sri Lanka they just got over a bloody civil war between Sinhalese and Tamil and you’ve got one now in Burma with fighting between Buddhist and Muslim. There’s isn’t “strength” in diversity. In diversity there’s fractiousness and maybe murder and mayhem. So the diversity hustlers might want to give a thought to this. If it comes to flying projectiles do they think they’ll end up unscathed? As you say maybe there’s more strength in the opposite of diversity ie commonality.

IMO, Evan Sayet has a good take on the underlying mental dynamics:

Actually, seawolf, I have to rethink my last post. I just finished listening to Rush on the radio, and everything has been made clearer to me. I realize that I have been wasting my time reading all those books which do nothing but make me think, and give me headaches. All I have to do is stop reading all that pesky stuff, and listen to Rush. He explains what is going on, and tells me what I should think, thereby freeing me up to spend more time watching auto racing. All I can say is thank God for turning me on to the truth, as revealed on AM radio. As far as that little problem in North Korea, it’s easier to understand if you just think of it as a WWE wrestling event only with nukes instead of a folding chair over the head.

“Las Vegas didn’t even want Trump.” “I don’t believe that.”
“Trump, his minions, and his family regularly met with the Russians.” “I don’t believe that.”

            To DA:

Thanks for the answer. I have noticed the same kind of phenomenon on other websites, where there seems to be one or two people who pretty much just show up regularly and regurgitate the latest DNC talking points. They seldom deign to make an actual argument, and in fact, resist all efforts to get them to explain their positions.

They just repeat the same canards, as if that constitutes an argument. And they will repeat the same nonsense over and over and over, several opinionated smears at a time.

Another variation is the “Serial Lib Link Bomber” who bombs threads with links to liberal opinion articles, but still can not ever personally explain why they believe what they believe.

For example, they will comment, “Trump is a white supremacist!”, and if you ask them to explain why they believe that, they will link you to a Michael Moore article, or some guest on MSNBC. But they can never actually seem to explain why they themselves believe it.

It’s almost like somebody is paying them to show up, but not to actually think. Like a robo sales call or something.

  34. Elrond Hubbard September 25, 2017 at 2:28 pm #

    Posted to my blog:

The #TakeAKnee movement is only superficially about race, class, or the effrontery of well-remunerated football players. The reason why it provokes such passions is because it’s really about religion. Namely, the American civil religion: its rituals, its iconography, and especially who is or isn’t allowed to influence them.

The basic mistake that affirmative atheists of the Richard Dawkins / Sam Harris variety make is that they think the driver of religion is its intellectual content. Let the Catholic church make claims about the body and blood of Christ and “No, no,” they’ll say, “you’re doing it wrong. Remember Copernicus, remember Galileo, that so-called blood is still chemically indistinguishable from wine, etc.”. But religion isn’t about what it says; it’s a mechanism for forming and maintaining identity. No two religions make exactly the same claims about humanity, God or gods, or the nature of existence; but they are as one in providing their adherents a way to understand who they are. On the one hand, think of Protestants and Catholics in Northern Ireland bitterly divided from one another, no matter that they don’t look any different. On the other, think of Malcolm X returning from Mecca with a new understanding after meeting blond, blue-eyed fellow Muslims for the first time.

The American civil religion is no different. The USA has its own Last Supper, its own communion of saints and martyrs, its version of the Rapture, and its master narrative to which it requires that all others be subordinate. But the long-simmering conflict over the American identity is now surging toward a boiling point, as control of the narrative slips ever further from those who have long held it. (And to hold something is to deny it to others; that’s the definition of property.)

More than fifty years after the March on Washington, there are still those who feel the need to rise up and demand that the nation “live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.'” In response, there are those who say: “No, no, you’re doing it wrong. Asians learned to fit in; you need to learn to fit in too. Fix the way you talk. Act respectable.” And, unspoken but clear: “Stop making me feel threatened by you and your demands.”

It’s not going to stop. African Americans, and other minorities as well, are part of America and have been from the beginning. They and their experience are part of the substance of the nation — just as they are, not as scolds and remonstrants would have them be. What they want is for that fact to be recognized.

    • Bruce E September 25, 2017 at 4:15 pm #

Well said, Elrond. Taking a knee is also an interesting visual symbol — a voluntary humility, a prayerful pose, a metaphor for turning the other cheek, which is a metaphor for a complete rejection of the American refusal to ever turn the other cheek.

I wondered above if they could drive the point home even further by washing Trump’s feet, or if that image would fly over the heads of those who pretend to read the Christian scriptures instead of making them truly affronted at the role played in such a theatrical move…

      • Elrond Hubbard September 25, 2017 at 8:46 pm #

We’ll see if anyone takes a step like that, Bruce E. It would be edifying to see how many of the outwardly pious truly understand the difference between being Christ-like and being merely Christian.

JHK rightly questions the militaristic spectacle and enforced jingoism of professional sports. Clearly, dropping to one knee for the national anthem is no less respectful a gesture than standing with hand on heart, and may be more so. In that sense, #TakeAKnee challenges neither the jingoism nor the piety of the event, yet it drives people to distraction nonetheless. “Get that sonofabitch off the field!” cried Trump. For what? Expressing respect for flag and country? Are they doing it wrong somehow?

Yes, they are doing it wrong — while being manifestly non-white, they’re seizing the initiative. These athletes’ real misdemeanor is that they dare to usurp a heretofore white prerogative and assert, as Americans, a share of ownership in the symbolism of American public life. More power to them.

Side note to Janos: spare me your bunk racial bigotries. Just stop. You should understand by now that the response of a decent, reasonable person to your kind of atavism isn’t conversation, but resistance.

        • Bruce E September 26, 2017 at 11:57 am #

“These athletes’ real misdemeanor is that they dare to usurp a heretofore white prerogative and assert, as Americans, a share of ownership in the symbolism of American public life.”

Spot-on. It’s also a rejection of “better to die on your feet rather than live on your knees” sort of symbolism. Not sure if that was their intention, or just how it strikes me.

          • messianicdruid September 28, 2017 at 5:30 pm #

“…, what does a patriotic gesture mean if it isn’t voluntary? If Americans are cowered into standing for the anthem out of fear of being deemed unpatriotic, then the gesture itself no longer has any meaning. It merely becomes a ritual act of symbolic dogma, more appropriate for a society like Nazi Germany than the U.S. Republic. The fact so many Americans stand for the national anthem voluntarily is precisely what makes it a powerful gesture.”

All people aren’t created equal. Blacks are gifted physically but not mentally. Stop your lying narrative and then there can be real conversation. Read Plato’s Myth of the Metals. Blacks are AT BEST a race of Sudras or workers, but second class ones. Mexicans are much more reliable, harder working, and need less supervision. Let’s send the Blacks to Mexico to replace the Mexicans who have come here. They will cause Mexico to collapse and with one stone we will have solved the Black problem and the illegal immigration problem.

      • Bruce E September 26, 2017 at 2:57 pm #

Janos, if you refuse to hold certain truths to be self-evident, including “all men are created equal,” then you are choosing to not be a part of this thing we call the United States of America.

“We hold these truths to be self evident,” is not an observation of the obviousness of the list of ideas that follow that phrase, but rather it is a deliberate choice made by those willing to be included in the “we” to not subject the axioms and foundations of their collective morality and principles of governance to the unrelenting and dispassionate eye of outside evidence.

To state outright that all people are not created equal, and to further try to back your claim with evidence that supposedly supports your claim, is to reject the nation. It is your choice to place yourself outside the “we,” outside the nation. Once you do so, you are on your own. You are not only not an American, you are anti-American.

Either change your choice, or embrace the choice and leave us. Shake the dust off your feet, and be on your way. I really don’t care where you go. Just go.

America’s criminal justice system is, apparently, a case of immaculate conception in our time. It can do no wrong! Or so I might conclude if I took my cues from the unanimity of opinion around here.

Every other institution comes in for its share of abuse from JHK and his commentariat. The presidency is a joke; the Congress is feckless and corrupt, full of time servers waiting to cash in; the Fed is a conspiracy against the populace; the banks are a nest of swindlers; the military a bloated scandal of waste, fraud and abuse that couldn’t win a game of tiddlywinks; the universities are where free speech goes to die; the media hopelessly biased and blind to the real problems the country faces; and on and on.

True, all of it. But the criminal justice system? Steady as she goes. Fair as fair can be and pure as the driven snow. Everyone who’s in prison deserves it, and everyone who deserves it is in prison. Let’s tick down the honour roll:

        – Citizens enjoy security in their persons, property and effects, as fair-minded and incorruptible cops enforce the law without fear or favour.

Prosecutors and judges give each case its due weight, while sentences reflect the severity of the crime.

        – The prison rolls are a <a href="sentencingproject.org/issues/racial-disparity/"true and accurate reflection of the moral state of the nation.

Yes, justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream in this, the best of all possible worlds. In these dark days, when so many institutions are failing us, how remarkable that the outcomes of law enforcement remain the one, unimpeachable sun in our sky, the very rock of ages. Maybe we should just let the police run everything. Do you like the sound of that?

        • elysianfield September 26, 2017 at 3:56 pm #

          Elrond,
Much of the dysfunction you list cannot be argued. The CJS…also has problems, but that does not mean it is racially motivated.

How about a bit of cause and effect? Most cops are human. Humans can be educated and trained, their psych vetted to any degree you can name with a straight face. They can be highly religious, empathetic, and socially aware. However…some days, one of these saints will wake up with hemorrhoids, the knowledge that one of his kids has just been found to be using dope, his wife has not laid him in a month, car payment is late, and he thinks the youth pastor at his church is long stroking* his 14 year old daughter. He will not be having a good day. The first thing he then hears on shift, is…”why the fuck you stoppin’ me?” Minor abuses of power are going to occur.

          Do the math, Elrond….

          *abusing

          • Elrond Hubbard September 26, 2017 at 10:29 pm #

“Minor abuses of power are going to occur.” Do you hear yourself? Such magic words! With them, all things are possible. All you need is the willingness to excuse abuse of power, and the willingness to allow the abuse to continue.

Seriously, elysianfield, I want you to take a minute with this. Re-read your own words and understand that they are a defense of the indefensible, of state violence and corruption. You may smirk at me for straining at gnats and swallowing camels. You may be thinking in the back of your mind that you don’t actually approve of these things, you’re just making a point. The fact is, to speak as you have done is to approve of them. If you didn’t approve, you would be agreeing with me, not fighting me.

For my part, I refuse to accept that police misconduct and systemic dysfunction are a cost of doing business. Nor will I apologize for paying attention to the real, unspoken motives that come to light when our poor hemorrhoidal saint behind a badge decides to take out his frustrations. That’s how matters got so f’ed up to begin with.

I’ll return to my refrain: it takes two to have a problem. You frame your imaginary cop as a flawed do-gooder; I finger him as a problem who needs to be rooted out and replaced with someone worthy of trust. I’m not saying that policing is an easy job. I’m saying that it comes with responsibilities — and I’m not alone in pointing out how often those responsibilities are shirked, while only the victims bear the consequences.

          • elysianfield September 27, 2017 at 10:49 am #

“You may be thinking in the back of your mind that you don’t actually approve of these things, you’re just making a point. The fact is, to speak as you have done is to approve of them. If you didn’t approve, you would be agreeing with me, not fighting me.”

            Elrond,
Human condition will always Trump your indignation. You refuse to understand that Law Enforcement is staffed with the imperfect. To understand this is not to accept it…rules and regulations broken have consequences. To not accept that humans are fallible leaves you with fantasies that will remain unrequited. Minor abuses of power are going to occur…and do occur…and always have occurred…you don’t have to accept it, just understand it.

Agree with you? How? Unless you can accept that even saints are fallable, there can be no points in which we can agree.

“If only the police were required to ride unicorns…they could shoot nobody, because they would have to hold the unicorn’s horn with both hands or fall off!!!!”

            Problem solved…you did it!

          • Elrond Hubbard September 27, 2017 at 2:52 pm #

elysianfield: “You refuse to understand that Law Enforcement is staffed with the imperfect.”

It’s adorable that you think I don’t understand that, but let’s put that aside. The real problem is what you say next:

elysianfield: “To understand this is not to accept it…”

Your attitude belies your statement. To actually not accept something entails doing something about it. If you don’t actually accept it, what measures for redress are you calling for? What politicians and/or officials are you writing to to demand action? What demonstrations are you going to? What campaigns do you donate to or participate in to defend those wrongly targeted by the criminal justice system? (Hint: there is no meaningful distinction between passive disapproval and approval. The math is the same in either case. “Do the math, Elrond” indeed.)

elysianfield: “[R]ules and regulations broken have consequences.” [emphasis added]

The problem — the very pith and core of what I have been saying — is how often rules and regulations broken do not have consequences. [Note the emphasis.] Are you getting my drift? Is it starting to sink in?

The problem is impunity. The problem is cops who misuse their powers of state-sanctioned violence, and face no consequences. The problem is a criminal justice system with different rules for different populations. The problem is that the system piles endless punishment for misdemeanours on one side of the equation.

You’re driving down the freeway. I pull up next to you and point out that one of your wheels is wobbling and in danger of coming off. You nod and tell me you noticed that already. I point out that it’s a danger to yourself and to others on the road. Impatiently, you tell me you understand. With increasing desperation, I warn you that it’s getting visibly worse. You yell back at me that you understand it’s a bad thing. Then you gun your engine and give me the finger to make clear that our conversation is over as you speed away. This is known as missing the point.

          • elysianfield September 27, 2017 at 7:32 pm #

” What demonstrations are you going to? What campaigns do you donate to or participate in to defend those wrongly targeted by the criminal justice system? (Hint: there is no meaningful distinction between passive disapproval and approval. ”

            Elrond,
You suggest a proactive approach…OK. What is your solution? Do not pretend that some faraway politician you can send money to or influence in a demonstration will have viable answers.

” I finger him as a problem who needs to be rooted out and replaced with someone worthy of trust.”

OK, Elrond, give us the hiring parameters. Who do we trust to replace the flawed do-gooder?

Elrond, you seem to think that this issue has not been studied ad nauseum…but it has.

I want your solutions. I am truly interested in what you have to say.

            Civilian Review Boards…star chambers,
            Internal Affairs
            Robots

Don’t let this topic end with Friday’s new topic…You deny human foibles and the inevitability of abuses…what is your solution?

            Please.

          • Elrond Hubbard September 28, 2017 at 3:08 pm #

Hey man, I’m busy, I have a life.

You say I suggest a proactive approach, which is… I think it’s more accurate to say that I think the issue needs to be reframed. Yes, there is too much passivity in the face of problems in the criminal justice system. Too much willingness to accept outcomes as inevitable. But there is an attribution problem as well, e.g. the assumption that if large numbers of African Americans are incarcerated, then that plainly implies that more of them are criminals to begin with. That comes with viewing the world through the lens of currently existing institutions, without considering that it’s the institutions that produce the outcomes we see. You have to inspect the lens itself to see whether it’s distorting your view.

I think human beings naturally tend to believe that good actions produce good outcomes, and therefore bad outcomes must be the consequence of bad actions. This is called the just-world hypothesis, and if we rely on it, it can distract us from taking responsibility for how the sausage really gets made. A ‘just world’ is something we have to achieve, not something we can just assume. The alternative is a kind of belief in magic, where magic means your wishes become reality without any cause and effect: it just happens. That’s what JHK’s “Too Much Magic” is about, in my view: it’s about embracing the consequences of our societal choices that we happen to like, while shirking the rest.

Enough philosophizing. I’ll try to take your points one by one. First, regarding the flawed do-gooder, everyone has flaws. Of course bad people will slip in, and even good people will slip up. Once again, I emphasize: the necessary consequences do not get imposed, and they need to be.

Better Supervision: Well, of course, but define better? (I’m not an HR professional.) This puts me in mind of the observation that there are two kinds of police forces: ones that protect the public, and ones that protect themselves from the public. Supervision should encourage the first kind of policing and discourage the latter.
Technology…100% camera/audio coverage, 24/7: If I were a cop, I would hate the idea of being under constant surveillance. Anyone would — it’s totalitarian. That said, police have a unique responsibility: we entrust them with authority to use force, up to and including deadly force. For that reason, I come down in favour of body cameras insofar as they help curb excessive use of force.
Change in hiring…racially driven to mirror demographics: Less worse than the alternative, in my view. Personally I would prefer a society that is colour-blind to begin with, but I don’t believe in fairy tales.
Civilian Review Boards…star chambers: A star chamber, by definition, is a secret process. I favour voting by secret ballot. Everything else government-related should be public.
Internal Affairs: Loyalty is a virtue, and nobody likes a rat. Except loyalty becomes a vice when it papers over serious wrongdoing.
Robots: “Thank you for your cooperation. Have a nice day.” Life pro tip: Don’t go see a movie just because you win free tickets. That’s how Robocop 3 robbed me of 90 minutes I’ll never get back.

Finally: Cops should be well-paid, so the job attracts high-quality people. It should be a middle- to upper-middle-class job in terms of income, but one that working-class people can readily target and regularly achieve. That’s because, first, social mobility is a good thing (people see there’s a reward for effort), and second, so that the police as an institution are connected to the people they are policing, not an alien occupying force.

Hope that’s not too long-winded for you!

Yet you deny the biological. Sure it’s cultural – because it’s biological first. No? Show me a culture where they don’t have sky high rates of criminality.

That’s not to say they can’t do better. In their own cultures, criminality is dealt with by immediate torture and death for serious offences. This may be effective in lowering the crime rate.

        • elysianfield September 26, 2017 at 4:02 pm #

          Janos,
I do not categorically deny biological causes…there is an argument that is fraught with potential error. Even if the average IQ of a black is 85…that does not mean the individual you meet falls into that mean. He could be intelligent, and a better man then both of us. However, if a black man embraces the Ghetto culture, there is little pause for error…and at any IQ.

The problem with analyzing/judging police shootings in retrospect –and I do believe that some law enforcement response has been excessive, unjustified and that police departments in general have crossed over from para-military to a more military paradigmn (the very same ethos infecting pro baseball as JHK mentions)–is that shootings are “decontextualized”.

In other words, we haven’t seen the myriad threats of violence, outright racial antagonism and verbal abuse that police officers routinely face without incident and which is generally negotiated peacefully before the straw that broke the camels back finally bends beyond repair a police officers better judgement.

In very violent urban areas a police officer should probably undergo periodic rigorous psychological evaluations to determine fitness for duty. That probably wouldn’t fly with the police union or the officers because it potentially impacts making a living.

But I still believe there is only a limited amount of time that an average police officer can negotiate the brutality, barbarism and racial animus of the ghetto before snapping in a hair trigger moment.

Yes, quite so. Some of these guys were hired after coming back from Iraq or Afghanistan. They already have PTSD and it just keeps growing on the new battlefield.

One old man was shot reaching for his cane. The officer saw a snake in the rope, to use the Vedantic metaphor. A young Black guy was ordered to show his registration. He went to get it and was shot as if he was reaching for a gun.

“In very violent urban areas a police officer should probably undergo periodic rigorous psychological evaluations ”

      Buck,
You do understand that psychological evaluations are one part common sense, and three parts snake oil? Hardly effective when dealing with someone smart enough to know what not to say…and having his rice-bowl broken as a consequence of a weak moment?

  36. sophia September 25, 2017 at 3:48 pm #

    Seawolf,

I am guessing that when cops shoot someone, it almost always involves attempting to make an arrest or being in the wrong place and arousing suspicion. A “child playing the park” was not in the sandbox with a pail and spade but an adult sized kid waving a realistic looking gun around.” Preceded by a panicked call to the police by an onlooker.

I don’t know the law for sure, but I don’t see how you would ever get first degree murder out of a situation like that, even if it was not handled as well as it could have been. First degree murder is like, you know, when you kill your spouse with malice aforethought for the insurance money.

The main news of Europe became the resuscitation of the history of the Fourth Crusade, seemingly buried under the eight centuries of propaganda.

Apparently, many have the impression that I associate the Western Black Project with the Germans and Germany as the main anti-Christian force in Europe. In fact, this is not so – I associate the Western Black Project with the Carolingian Dynasty and the Teutonic Order, the first victim of which became Orthodox Germans subjects of Merovingians, descendants of Frank King Clovis, who was baptized in 498.

Which made the Franks the only Orthodox nation in continental Europe at the time, but the Christianizers of Europe were not the Franks, but the Irish, who were baptized by St. Patrick 50 years earlier. And it happened because the Irish did not conquer Europe, but sent out missionaries who baptized different European Nations, including the Vikings, the great civilizers who created the great Western European civilization.

And the anti-Normanists in Russia are actually obscurantists who deny the connection to the Western European culture, which in its basis was Orthodox, and the more they tear Russia’s connection with Western Europe in what it was really great, the more they become slaves of the West-European vileness.

This is evident from the shameful story with Russian movies “Viking” and “Matilda”, and from the referendum scheduled for October 1 in Catalonia and to election in Germany that decides nothing.

Meanwhile, preparations for a referendum in Catalonia show that if Nations like people have their own providential destiny, which can be understood from history, then this history and this fate began to emerge from the depths, despite centuries of lies.

First of all, Catalonia, according to one of the legends, was created by the Alans, whom Maxim the Confessor himself baptized in the Caucasus and who quite possibly are the ancestors of those same Slavs who from unknown sources appeared on the Russian Plain in the 6th century.

And the history of the Christianization of Gotlandia (Catalonia) is most directly connected with the year 862, when the Russian state was founded, and Saint Ansgar baptized the king of Jutland Horik II. And all the historiography of the Berlin Hegelians, which became the basis of both Russian liberalism and Russian obscurantism, collapses like a house of cards at a glance at the cross of St. Ansgar, as it is a Celtic cross.

And in preparation for the referendum, a rather large role was played by the fact that Aragon was one of the victims of the Albigensian crusade, for which the Aragonese avenged in 1282 during the Sicilian Vespers, which was a joint operation of the Aragon, British and Byzantine intelligence services.

I have a lot of geopolitical rumors from Pentagon chief General Mattis, who agreed to coordinate with the Russians in Syria and sent the legislators and the US law forbidding such coordination to hell, to the governor of the Belgorod region, the Russian Prime Minister and Putin’s successor. But before I do this, I have to specify the context of these very questionable rumors; otherwise they will be knowingly misunderstood.

Washington Square is no longer there and the only source of New York rumors is now such a specific place as Union Square and classical music concerts. And this is quite another matter and where rumors end and my speculation begin I do not know.

But what I’m quite sure about is in my assessment of Solovyov’s show.

At one time, Ivan the Terrible in one of Kurbsky’s letters said that Russia is New Israel, and this alone tie Russia to the state of Israel, which is being torn apart by the antagonism between Jews for whom the Holocaust is the most important reality that created Israel, and those who do not care, and the Holocaust is a business.

And on the Solovyev’s show have such a man – Yakov Kedmi, who is clearly a representative of the first type, and even of its radical wing, which remembers that Israel was created by the heir of Ivan the Terrible Joseph Stalin, and also believes that without the New Israel the state of Israel and the remnants of world Jewry will come an end.

And strangely enough this point of view is confirmed by the attack on the referendum in Catalonia, simply by virtue of a visual demonstration of the process of revitalizing the history of the Middle Ages.

Maybe I have a visual aberration, but all that I see in international politics lately is confirmation of my theory of color world projects and when such a great showman as Soloviev showers Yeltsin and Trump with dirt, I have big doubts that he does it by stupidity.

After the collapse of the USSR, the theory of World Projects is somehow intuitively felt by all people of goodwill, and huge sums are spent in the media to prevent the transfer of these intuitions into a verbal form that can contribute to the articulation of the Russian national idea.

Of course, it’s funny when the head of the Israeli special service Nativ tries to articulate it, but apparently, Yakov Kedmy, understanding where the main hole of the Russian Federation is, from the above considerations on the show Soloviev was doing just that.

An honest discussion of race and intelligence cannot be held in the USA, because it goes against the stories liberals and conservatives tell themselves:
Liberals: if we just had enough government programs, they would catch up
Conservatives: if they just got off their lazy asses, and studied in school, they would catch up.
Ask yourself: at what future date, do I believe they will have caught up, and no longer require specials programs, considerations, and quotas?

The author asks why it is there. The jingoism. The bellicosity. Because the NFL brought it there. The spectacle, the worship of power, might, courage, discipline, and violence. They brought the soldiers, planes, and anthems. They brought the camo, battle dress, salutes, and honor guard firing brigades. Quien es mas macho?
I’m going to watch a week of Champion’s League, La Liga, and maybe some EPL. A sport where the smallest and humblest of men control the pitch.
There will be no anthems, no planes, no soldiers, no lowbrow light beer ads every 3 minutes, no oppressed multimillionaire global sporting celebrities taking a knee.

Only sport. Distilled to its essence.

“After many years during which I saw many things, what I know most surely about morality and the duty of man I owe to sport and learned (in football/soccer).” -Camus

Before it gets too late I’m adding my $.02.

I’ve always watched sports, and I played baseball and basketball. I saw the great Celtics teams of the ’50s; I loved Bill Russell’s spirit. I saw the Boston Bruins in the late ’60s; I thought Bobby Orr was poetry on ice. I’ve always loved the Red Sox; Ted Williams was my idol because of his perfection at bat.

I’m a Patriots fan. To me football is barbaric, what with CTE, torn acls, busted ribs, broken collarbones, broken fingers, ripped tendons, etc. Still,I like the sport. I guess, to be honest, it represents an outlet for any incipient violence I may harbor. Many NFLers are millionaires – not as much as MLB players or NBAers, though.

Anti-sports people don’t realize that pro football players pay their agents up to 25% of their salaries and the government can take at least 40% in taxes. Many announced salaries are incentive-based to a certain degree, but aren’t realized because of injuries. The average NFL career is around 5 years, and second contracts are often not paid off in full because the teams are allowed to terminate contracts and not pay, unlike baseball.

So when players’ careers are over at the young age of 27-34, what have they got? Damaged brains, bad knees and other joints, constant pain and addiction to pain meds, and no training for new careers. And a few million dollars to last them the rest of their lives.

Yeah, it was their choice, but I’m not going into that. I just wanted to show it’s not just all a bowl of cherries.

“They just repeat the same canards, as if that constitutes an argument.” — squeeky

DA, you, Janet, etc. think I am presenting DNC “talking point” which is funny because I am referring to bipartisan investigations in congress, and a special counsel, Mueller, who is a life-long Republican.

Mueller will be coming down with his indictments of Trump and the Trump campaign in October or November. Impeachment will follow shortly after that. If you follow the money, you will clearly see Trump’s criminal actions during the 2016 campaign. Mueller has done exactly that with a crack team of experienced investigators. He is also going to get them on state charges, not just federal charges…. because Trump cannot pardon anyone for crimes violating state laws.

But it matters not whether you believe what I am saying. Soon you will see with your own eyes. And, yes, I will be here to say I told you so. It has nothing to do with Democratic talking points. It is reality. Trump the con man has committed criminal acts and he will pay for them by being voted out of office by two thirds of the House.

    • RIB September 26, 2017 at 5:09 am #

Your predictions are about as accurate as Kuntsler’s economic predictions, Jansoka

    • DA September 26, 2017 at 7:20 am #

And, yes, I will be here to say I told you so. It has nothing to do with Democratic talking points. It is reality.

And I’ll still be here to ignore and/or ridicule you. Whatever happens to Trump will be whatever TPTB decide, and their station is far above the petty investigative powers of the special prosecutor, who is nothing at all, the congress, or even the Great Orange One himself. That is reality my little HRC troll.

From Dmitry Orlov’s latest this morning:

“The fact that within social machines psychopaths rise to the top is easy to grasp: “If having some psychopathic tendencies is helpful for fitting in within a social machine, having more psychopathic tendencies is even more helpful. Consequently, within social machines, pure psychopaths rise through the ranks and concentrate at the top. It should be entirely unsurprising, then, that when we look at the upper echelons of business and government—the C-suite, the boards of directors, the executive branches, the legislatures and the courts—we find that they are pretty much stocked with total psychopaths.” [p. 195]

Finally, let’s draw some conclusions, which should by now be perfectly obvious. All of the Hate Cults mentioned above are focused on national leaders. Nation-states are social machines par excellence. Social machines are run by psychopaths. Whatever it is they do, you can be absolutely sure that it’s nothing personal, entirely beyond your control, and nothing to get worked up about.

My sincere and earnest hope is that once you digest and accept these facts, becoming emotional about some psychopathic figurehead or other will start to look silly to you, the spell will be broken, the political vitriol in your brain will eventually get metabolized to something less toxic (urine, probably) and you will stop wasting your energies and feel better. As far as all of the Cathedrals of Hate—please don’t go near any of them. Cults are bad; political hate cults doubly so.”

      cluborlov.blogspot.com/2017/09/public-loathing-as-deification.html

Bottom line: if the oligarchic elite decide to get rid of Trump, rest assured it won’t be for reasons readily discernible to you or to me. It’ll be for reasons that serve their interests only. You can also be sure that whomever they choose next will serve their interests first and foremost too, and he or she will be no less psychopathic than any of our recent Puppets in Chief.

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned here is that military displays at NFL and MLB games, flyovers, color guards and so on, are often, if not always, paid for by the DoD, mostly as public relations and recruiting tools. These professional sports franchises aren’t letting the US Armed Forces into their venues out of a sense of patriotism or out of the goodness of their hearts, no, they are being paid handsomely. This is an important revenue stream especially in baseball, where salaries are exhorbitant, and almost every penny raised goes into paying those salaries.

who is paying? how much? why?

What we need about now is another inspirational poem from Squeaky Fromm Girl Reporter, this time about ‘Taking a Knee’.

Here is a suggestion for the first stanza, Squeaky.

“I’m taking a knee in the land of the free
This Honky anthem don’t mean nothing to me
Kiss my black as you white M’erF=ckers
    I’ll see you bleed
My name is Rashad; I play in the Negro Felon League.

Very good, brh. Your perception of their sentiments is entirely accurate however crude the form in which you expressed them. After all, you are imitating their crudity. This is something Leftists simply cannot believe. To do so is to lose their Faith in Blackness and that would mean having to see the blackness of their own souls.

It wasn’t a woman but a TERF – a Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminst who got what was coming to her. PC trannies have cucked, calling the righteous tranny and her supporters “males”, the ultimate insult. Righteous or Cis Trannies are going have to start a movement called Trannies Going Their Own Way or TGTOW.

In the coming war between TERFs and TGTOWs, which side are You going to be on?

    • BackRowHeckler September 25, 2017 at 11:17 pm #

I like my freak shows simple and easy to understand. This gender freak show — TERFs, cis this, this that, TGTOWs, is getting a little absurd in its complexity.

My comment below was posted late last night at the tail end of JHK’s previous blog essay. It was probably not read by most of you so I’ve pasted a copy into today’s blog comment section.

While on the blog this evening I had the Sunday night pro football game on TV in the background, muted… no idea who was playing or who won but when I looked up at the end I un-muted to hear the female reporter interviewing a few players from the winning team.

One was this very polite black guy who was just overwhelmed with the wonderfulness of his team’s performance and all the various individual player’s performances. He even praised the coach’s play ‘collin’. As he spoke his head slowly and continuously made the ‘no’ motion as an emphasizer of the truth of what he was saying.

There was also footage of the earlier anthem protest and counter protest. I am conflicted on this issue. I favor free speech but does that really mean the NFL and the sponsors must provide a paid-for platform for the protesters? I say, take a knee in the parking lot before you climb behind the wheel of your Bentley for the drive home.

    • capt spaulding September 26, 2017 at 12:46 am #

Free speech is everyone’s right, however that doesn’t mean that there isn’t sometimes a price to pay. Other people are free to react to your free speech in various ways, some of which can involve boycotts, bad press, etc. Say what you want to, but there can be good or bad reactions.

The whole #Take-The-Knee show really needs some replacement theme music to help soothe pre-game tensions at N*FL venues.

Since the Star Spangled Banner is obviously hurting the (thug) players’ feelings – reflecting White American toxicity coupled with police maltreatment plus not ever enough cash and all that competition from the fratricidal action in Chicago over the weekend – might I suggest two straight from Compton hits that will get them (from the most Baddass Blood to the Crankiest Crip) on their feet in a jiffy:

Vladimir Putin invited the Jews, who face anti-Semitism in Europe, to come back to Russia.

Putin: Let them come to us. In USSR they were leaving, now let them come back.

Hasidic are different too. Generally speaking, the Rebbe en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebbe before his death called on the Jews to return to Russia, and now those who heard him are building the Russian banking system, in particular the Russian SWIFT.

    • malthuss September 26, 2017 at 11:16 am #

How much hate do ‘the Jews’ face?

      • volodya September 26, 2017 at 11:50 am #

What they face outside the Middle East is nothing like what they face inside.

Imagine you’re a young Palestinian and that blue and white Israeli flag flying on the hill-top that mocks your manhood day-in and day-out.

    Great commentary.

And you’re nearly there on the best terminology for the anti-Normals.

“Dem-Progs” doesn’t really capture the essence of their beliefs and actions.

“Politically Correct Progressives” or “PC-Progs” nails them perfectly.

Their belief system can be summarized in 6 bullet points, and an action corollary.

They do control the party formerly known as “Democrats,” but have nothing to do with Democracy.

The PC-Prog belief system is laid out here:

Why would Trump take on the most popular sport in the world? They’re ratings are down.

    • pequiste September 26, 2017 at 10:04 am #

Sorry to break it to you Wolfie; but the most popular sport in the world is Association football, otherwise known, in America, as soccer. Only in a society so arrogant, egocentric and generally ignorant as ours do we think the world revolves around U.S. and everything we do.

Still, it is a child’s game where adult men and women in shorts are chasing after a ball.

In other news; now the protest au-courant has seeped into the United States Congress:

      msn.com/en-us/news/politics/congresswoman-takes-a-knee-on-the-house-floor-to-protest-donald-trumps-n…

Maybe Congresswoman Lee should consider changing her name to provide some much-needed relational distance from that raysis Confederate general of the same familial identity designator.
