The golden Colossus of Trump looms over the national scene this summer like one of Jeff Koons’s giant, shiny, balloon-puppy sculptures — a monumental expression of semiotic vacancy. At the apogee of Trumpdom, everything’s coming up covfefe. The stock market is 5000 points ahead since 1/20/17. Little Rocket Man is America’s bitch. We’re showing those gibbering Asian hordes and European café layabouts a thing or two about fair trade. Electric cars are almost here to save the day. And soon, American youth will be time-warping around the solar system in the new US Space Corps!

Enjoy it while you can. Events are converging ominously this summer in the direction of unwinding expectations and serial train wrecks of finance and politics. Mr. Trump has made hubris simple by bragging on the supposed triumphs of “his” economy. When it blows up, he’ll own that, too, and the second half of 2018 liable to be a debris-field of shattered national economies, zombie corporations, and floundering institutions.

A new supreme court justice will be the very apex of Trump triumphalism, but whoever the pick is will goad the Democratic “progressives” to new depths of antagonism, so expect more street-fighting by the black-masked Antifa forces during the senate confirmation debate. Some sort of martial law will be invoked by a governor, or perhaps even the president himself. Initially that would amount to little more than curfews, but they’ll be ignored, and then the fun will really begin. Think: national guard troops and angry clashes. The tone will be low, and sinking fast.

If Antifa acts up the way I anticipate, it will drag the Democratic Party closer to extinction. The party celebrated a week ago over the rise of Evita Peron wannabe, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Her youth and glamour intersect with her socialism, a doctrine that caused more human deaths in the 20th century than all the religious wars of the previous centuries. What’s not to like about it?

The blowup of the bond and stock markets later this year will put to a gloomy rest the ludicrous notion that America has been enjoying a great economic boom. It’s actually been an engineered hallucination, thanks to the global monetary authorities applying the magic of limitless credit to a bad habit of credulous speculation. The central banks have launched a program of so-called “quantitative tightening (QT)” — an idiotic phrase meant to counterpoise the equally fatuous “quantitative easing (QE),” PhD economist-speak for grotesque interference in the bond markets — that will choke down the credit supply at exactly the moment that governments and giant corporations need new loans to pay the interest on old loans. The trajectory there is obvious.

The big question, of course — hardly ever asked in the public arena — is what that will do to currencies, i.e., money. It can really only go two ways: either make money very scarce, in which case a lot of people and enterprises go broke, or, if the monetary authorities respond to the predicament by enabling a return to bottomless credit issuance, the money will become worthless — they’ll be plenty of it, but it won’t buy much. Such a turn of events will make an already-unhinged nation fly apart.

Lurking in the background of all this are several other consequential movements, trends, and troubles. One is the fate of the European Union. The quarrel over migrants from the Middle East and Africa will not be resolved happily. Germany and France will not succeed in bullying countries like Austria, Hungary, and Poland into absorbing more of these strangers. The more the EU pushes, the more they will feed nationalist sentiment in these places. And of course all the Big Dawgs of the EU are already stuck with millions of newcomers they foolishly invited the past several years, and all the problems they brought with them.

Another plot-line deep in this summer’s story is the movement of oil markets. Recently, the trend has been for rapidly rising oil prices. As they approach the “magic” $75-a-barrel mark, you can be sure they will squash economic activity — which is already being hammered by the uncertainty unleashed by trade-and-tariff shenanigans. If the oil price heads back over $100/barrel you can just forget about maintaining the business status quo — and even at that price the shale oil companies won’t make a red cent. Of course, they’ll also have a tough time getting new loans, which is the only thing that kept their operations going for the past ten years.

Oh, yes, there is also that Hieronymus Bosch Garden of Earthly Delights known as the Mueller Investigation, with its dreary outposts in the executive suite of the FBI, and all the tangled mysteries entailed there. Mr. Mueller will come up with someone to indict on something, even if it’s ninety-seven ham sandwiches. I suspect Mr. Trump will manage to dump Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein. And then the pardons will fly, like so many winged demons flapping from the mouth of Hades. Constitutional crisis may be too mild a word for what ensues.

By holiday time in early winter, much will clarified about the actual direction of the country. By then, the “Walk Away” movement may even include the obdurate shills at CNN and The New York Times, and the Intellectual-Yet-Idiots on the college campuses. And the Golden Golem of Greatness will lie upended in the swamp that he just didn’t try hard enough to drain.

Can’t wait to hear the commentariat sound off on this one, Jim! the Trump defenders are sure to pillory it to no end.

I think you deserve an honorary doctorate in common sense economics with this little gem:

“It can really only go two ways: either make money very scarce, in which case a lot of people and enterprises go broke, or, if the monetary authorities respond to the predicament by enabling a return to bottomless credit issuance, the money will become worthless — they’ll be plenty of it, but it won’t buy much.”

Sometimes things really are that simple, especially where academics – whose entire profession revolves around making simple things appear to be complex – are involved.

Will the final meltdown come this year? Can’t be sure about that, and perhaps that’s the wrong question anyway. The meltdown is occurring right before our eyes as we speak, just not in the time frames where we can easily apprehend as it unfolds.

Anyway, good work as always. Nice to see that someone in this great land of delusion is still paying attention.

A tour guide was showing a group of tourists Beethoven’s grave. Coming up close, they heard faint notes emanating from the grave going. dah di di dit, dah di di dit, dah di di dit. The curious tourists asked, “What is that ? The tour guide said, “No worry, that is just Beethoven decomposing.

And in the last century the rich killed far, more. Many times more people than socialists ever have.

Listen and be quiet. Do you hear it ? bit de bit, de bit bit bit, bit de bit de bit coin bit de ham sandwitch bit de 75 a barrel bit bit bit.

So no worry, that is the sound of money virtualizing into nothing.

And in the last century the rich killed far more. Pesky comma snuck in. The rich really do have the killing record paws down.

Nothing could be further from the truth. You’re nothing but a fabulist. You have no sources, no evidence, no there there for your remarks. You are just a small time apologist looking for some solace and validation.

          • Janos Skorenzy July 6, 2018 at 2:07 pm #

You’re a Communist in other words. Despite the hundred million plus dead and its utter failure to produce free, prosperous societies.

One is reminded of Jean Paul Sartre. He was among the last to awaken to the horror of the Soviet Union. Then what did he do upon awakening? This brilliant man? Switch his allegiance to Red China. Brilliant people are often the dumbest of all since their mental power gives them the ability to go even MORE WRONG.

The intellect is nothing without common sense, the lower octave of Wisdom.

And don’t bother denying it: you were praising Lenin and Trotsky the other day. Just renounce it as the foolishness it is.

          • K-Dog July 6, 2018 at 4:12 pm #

That’s a great point johnAZ. Animal Farm by Orwell says it well. Not too much time before power absolutely corrupts.

          • K-Dog July 7, 2018 at 12:34 am #

Don’t cry for the wanna-bee, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Her youth and glamour intersect with her socialism because of the district she represents. Settle down Bevis.

Now , concerning the offensive canard.

a doctrine that caused more human deaths in the 20th century than all the religious wars of the previous centuries,

I did some surfing on the web and it’s not true.

The reasonable number for communist deaths is 60 million overall. If you think it is 100 million you really should do something about that itch but do some surfing yourself before you bother me about it. You will see where I got the figure if you can follow my links.

Religious deaths, here we go, a drum roll please,

195,035,000 deaths in the name of religion.

            The dog has barked.

The Spanish conquests of south America, the Ottomans, the Mongols. The list goes on for a very very long time. The Mongols by themselves beat the communist death toll easily and that doesn’t count them also pushing the black death into Europe.

There has been some serious carnage in mankind’s family history. The claim that communists have been outstanding at being villains is a foolish utterance which ignores the truth.

Capitalism has starved 75 million to death in the last ten years alone. Not everybody can snack on cheese doodles and drink Mountain Dew. Capitalist starvation easily beats all communist starvations. The capitalist starvation figure only has to go back ten years to do it.

But wait folks, there is more! When the die-off begins there will be zero doubt that capitalism was the more demonic system. When it all falls apart Cholera and other diseases return. Pestilence will rule the earth and the other three horsemen will ride like the song about Sally.

Bernie Sanders is not who we need to be afraid of.

          • K-Dog July 7, 2018 at 12:37 am #

Tail between legs. Only it’s not true. was supposed to be in bold.

The perils of playing with html tags when you can’t edit.

          • hmuller July 7, 2018 at 9:21 am #

K-Dog, you think the Mongols were motivated and inspired by religion?!

          • K-Dog July 7, 2018 at 12:01 pm #

The 195,035,000 deaths in the name of religion does not include the Mongol deaths. My point was the Mongols beat the ‘communist/socialist/whateverist/differentfromusist death toll all by themselves.

          • DrTomSchmidt July 8, 2018 at 11:11 pm #

Your link has the followingdeaths “caused by religion”

The Holocaust (Jewish and Homosexual Deaths): 6,500,000

            Iraq War: 500,000
US Western Expansion (Justified by “Manifest Destiny”):20,000,000
Atlantic Slave Trade (Justified by Christianity): 14,000,000

AIDS deaths in Africa largely due to opposition to condoms: 30,000,000

ANTIFA is nothing more than a criminal organization using violence to push their political adgenda.

If the streets ever get crazy with these assholes, you can be sure that they will be targets of the moderates.

    • Ron Anselmo July 6, 2018 at 10:42 am #

      Jim,

Excellent post, as usual. You’ve covered a lot of ground. Excellent.

Anyone who hasn’t seen what went on in Portland, between Antifa & defenders of the First Amendment, needs to check it out. This may well be the first skirmish in the coming Civil War 2.0. A one-man wrecking crew almost single-handedly handled Antifa, and these same defenders of the First Amendment can be expected to push back against Antifa violence, wherever they show up. Won’t be pretty – for Antifa anyway.

Proud Boys remind me of Curtis Sliwa and the Guardian Angels, same concept – when “authorities” refuse to do their job, someone will step up and protect Constitutional Rights.

      Thanks Jim.

      Ron

      • hmuller July 6, 2018 at 1:07 pm #

I agree, Ron. Antifa are just a small crew of pussies hired by Soros. When opposed, they’ll run with shit in their pants. Ready to launder for the cause, Janet?

        • Janos Skorenzy July 6, 2018 at 2:12 pm #

No, they have deaths to the credit in Europe. And they have posted pictures of themselves holding automatic rifles recently around America. They are all in. It will happen if Trump doesn’t move against them.

Yes, they tend towards the ectomorphic and even physically flawed. They can’t bang toe to toe against normal White Men and Fascists. So yes, they run. But they will come back better prepared if the Police don’t step in.

          • thenuttyneutron July 6, 2018 at 4:36 pm #

They are not holding automatic rifles. I have seen the pics. They are holding semi-auto firearms. The pics are not of a high qulaity and I would bet many of them are .22 lr or airsoft.

If one is truly serious about guns for fighting, they would get a medium quality AR-15, put a 300 AAC upper with a 16″ barrel on, a good set of iron sights or a holographic reflex sight (I have both), and a USGI style sling with QD mounts and a binary trigger. Adding additional crap to the carbine is not a good idea because it is already too heavy . I would also take the 20 round magazines over the 30 rounders.

With this gun you get a good all around carbine for up close ranges all the way to 300 yards. Swapping from heavy subsonic ammo to the faster stuff is as simple as a magazine swap. The 300 AAC in the sun sonic 220 grain variety will defeat lvl 2 body armor.

The 150 grain supersonic ammo will have more energy and momentum than a 5.56×45 at 100 yards.

The best part about it is the ease of making the ammo from spent 5.56 cases and .308″ bullets.

Having the gun is just step one. You also must know how to use it. This means proper form, no flinch, and proper trigger control.

I don’t see any ANTIFA guys having the commitment to go through all this trouble.

    • Lonely Traveler July 6, 2018 at 11:38 am #

The U.S. Congress and Department of Defense are nothing more than a criminal organization using violence to push its political agenda. They’re real good at it. Antifa is a bunch of pissed off kids who finally woke up and realized The American Dream they’ve been sold all their lives was nothing more than a con job. I don’t blame them for being pissed. I hope they start breaking stuff real soon in a neighborhood near you.

      • Ron Anselmo July 6, 2018 at 12:32 pm #

No, no, no, my friend. I agree with you, but you really wouldn’t want them breaking stuff in a neighborhood near me. I can assure that would not turn out well for Antifa.

Believe me, I’m all for taking out the long-standing establishment predators who have mortgaged these kids’ futures (and mine) due to their own sociopathic greed & hubris, but that’s not who they’re going after. They’re being manipulated and misdirected by their handlers.

        • Lonely Traveler July 6, 2018 at 2:45 pm #

Ron, do you really care if Antifa busts up a Starbucks or BOA storefront in your neighborhood? I would call that a neighborhood improvement project.

          • Ron Anselmo July 7, 2018 at 10:50 am #

Aw LT, now you’re puling at my heartstrings. No love lost at all for “nationals” who export the local community’s resources to Wall Street. Local is where it’s at. If Starbucks is replaced by Uncle Joe’s Coffee Shop & the BOA branch is replaced by Main Street Credit Union, I’m all for it.

Not that anyone cares, nor does it matter, but my personal distaste, to put it mildly, with Antifa, is their attack, backed by violence, on free speech. If they don’t like what I have to say, I say bring it.

Haven’t had coffee from Starbucks since Desert Storm in 1990, when they refused to send coffee for our troops, as we put a bigger footprint in ME to protect our oil interests, in the name of “nation building”. Told them they’d be singing a different tune if we were in Colombia protecting their coffee-growing interests.

Long story short – if I was dying of thirst, I’d drink a cup of my own urine before I’d drink a cup of Starbucks coffee.

      • Janos Skorenzy July 6, 2018 at 2:16 pm #

Nope. Their World View is that of Globalism – exactly the same as that of the Elite even though they are too dim to realize it. Why do you think Soros funds them? Coincidence?

And again, who do you think funded Communism? And anarchists, for some bizarre reason, always march with the Communists. And if the Antifa are basically Anarcho-Communists to the extent they have any ideas at all.

For some of these kids it’s just a phase. So we can hope they get out of it before it’s criminalized and they have to pay dearly for their mistake.

        • Janos Skorenzy July 6, 2018 at 2:17 pm #

Delete the if. Must have changed my thought mid sentence.

  4. Martymcfly July 6, 2018 at 10:33 am #

I think we’ve heard these predictions once or twice before…

Guy McPherson is worth repeating too:

The reason I’m no longer a doomer is simply that I got tired of being wrong. And I started to feel contempt for other doomers who shamelessly made the same wrong predictions year after year. And you have to make precise predictions because otherwise what does “collapse” even mean? Do you think we’re still going to have internet? Container ships? Large scale grain farming? Banks? Taxes? Electrical grids? Hospitals? Stock markets? Elections? These are all different subjects that require different specialized knowledge. Even something like “manufacturing” could have vastly different answers for different products. And for each thing that’s going to go away, how long will it take, and by what chain of events?
Everyone wants to be right, but people who persist in being doomers want to be right in a different way than I do. I want to say what’s going to happen, and then it actually happens. Some people want to feel like they understand the mechanism for how things happen. But the real world is much too complex for any one person to understand, so we make simplifications. In the context of collapse, the simplest idea is business as usual plus sci-fi extrapolation. The next simplest idea is total collapse: every one of the above things goes away, because they’re all part of the same One Big Thing, and some of the conditions that made the One Big Thing possible are disappearing.
Everyone is stupid, but smart people know how they’re stupid. I know that modern civilization is only One Big Thing inside my head, and out in the world it’s billions of people I don’t know, their knowledge and habits and intentions, plus trillions of physical objects and all the connections between everything. I know that you can’t have perpetual economic growth on a finite planet, that renewable energy is not coming online fast enough for a smooth transition out of fossil fuels, and that presently fertile regions will become deserts; but it would be arrogant to think that large complex high-tech society cannot adapt to these conditions, just because I can’t personally imagine how it can adapt.

    • Ol' Scratch July 6, 2018 at 10:44 am #

Haven’t followed Guy in a while. Checking in on his site this morning, it appears that whatever else he might be about these days, he’s mostly become a marketing phenomenon. A “brand” if you will. Looks like he’s still on about climate change in earnest, though.

About his last statement, however: “… but it would be arrogant to think that large complex high-tech society cannot adapt to these conditions, just because I can’t personally imagine how it can adapt.” My conclusion would be just the opposite. But that’s just me.

Great post – we have more in common with the cockroaches than we care to believe.

If we can survive Trump and the cabal of utter monstrosities that he gave us, then who knows?

      • JMR July 6, 2018 at 11:13 am #

Well we survived Clinton, Bush, Obama and Killery, so this shouldn’t be too hard.

      • Janos Skorenzy July 6, 2018 at 2:20 pm #

Yes, they can take incredible amounts of radiation, but just turn off the heat and they’ll die like flies. They’re tropical imports, parasites of our weakness. Our ancestors grew strong in the ice and snow and shall we again and again and a gain.

        • hmuller July 6, 2018 at 4:06 pm #

I sleep on a bare slab of ice to prepare for the day.

    • JMR July 6, 2018 at 11:14 am #

Thank you, great post. I was thinking as I read today, “How many times has JHK made this prediction?” I always thought, maybe eventually one year he’ll be right, but quite possibly not.

      • JohnAZ July 6, 2018 at 8:35 pm #

He may predict in the short term. The long term trends he has predicted since 2005 are all happening. In the Long Emergency, JHK predicted the oil crises happening in the last half of the century. His predictions have been moved out by fracking but the concept of Peak Oil is still alive and well. Ten years ago, oil was $20 a barrel, it is constantly going up, the cause increased demand with reluctant supply. As predicted.

Tell you what, a real test is coming up quickly, Trump has requested more output to offset Iranian sanctions. Let us see if SA et al can produce more supply. How close is OPEC to Peak Oil? It will be a game changer when it occurs.

        • TiredOfTheTreadmill July 6, 2018 at 10:43 pm #

I agree. The short term predictions by doomers across the board have been faulty. However, the longer term picture definitely shows decline underway. The lies and spin have grown to cover some of the more obvious signs. For example, we may see market movement or headlines because of a government stats report.. It took Rome several hundred years to politically collapse through corruption causes worse than ours. The end result of the collapse was 800 years of localized feudal society. Forecasters point the direction and our direction is not positive, that is for sure. The Doomers want things to happen right away, this year, now! The inertia of civilization does not work that way. Watch the Long term trends, where are things trending. Nationalism and localization, think California are occurring. Economic conditions, long term, are worsening as indicated by the increasing level of national and global debt. Debt is deteriorating the future. My grandson will face a very different world than we do, but in fifty years, not this Christmas. Civilizations decline gradually, not precipitously. Unless of course, a shock treatment, such as a pandemic hits and blows everyone out of the water.

Times change JohnAZ, and with the advancement of technology, events happen at a much more rapid pace. Computer trading is done nowadays in nanoseconds. Where it took Rome a few centuries to collapse, it will be accomplished in a much shorter time period.

Good article, but a few nit-picks. It might be a mistake to confuse Socialism with events done in the name of Socialism. It’s like confusing Freedom with what is done by the US in the name of Freedom. If readers accept the US is the World’s leading depraved terrorist operating behind the skirts of jingos, then okay and a maybe. It’s kind of like when foks describe the lots of slaves as better than what they would have had in Africa…… I don’t realy know, though, We might have to ask the Vietnamese about their 1 million + dead in the name of Freedom, or the Iraqis, Libyans, Afghanis……. Maybe Chile, El Salvador. And of course Hitler was a socialist…..yeah right.

Words are words but often don’t explain too much, only confuse.

The vast majority of the US population has no clue about the bigger picture regarding resource depletion or finance. When the new reality becomes fully apparent most will remain clueless. Things that were considered highly valuable like 3000 sq ft houses built of materials not designed to last more than 20 years, cars that require a finite miracle resource to operate, electronic screens of various sizes, etc. Take advantage of their foolishness to buy things of enduring value while they are cheap. Metals are on sale right now. A good cast iron wood stove. A stainless steel water tank. Nickel iron batteries. Manual hand tools. Things that will work for a long time but might not always be available. Things that give one the ability to make other useful things.

    • JohnAZ July 6, 2018 at 11:23 am #

You are right. Think oil depletion and its effect on plastics. Metals are cheap because they are available. Sixty years ago, everything was metal, Fiberglas was just being developed. What happens when plastics become scarce? Maybe that is why Trump is trying to encourage the regrowth of new sources of steel and aluminum in this country.

Oh yeah, maybe we can harvest the oceans for plastic!

      • mdl17576 July 6, 2018 at 12:16 pm #

There will be a lot less new metal stuff for sale as fossil fuels deplete. There is a ton of embodied energy in metals, but especially aluminum and stainless.

I think Jim is confusing socialism with communism. Canada, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Ireland all have aspects of socialism, while still having a capitalist economic system. British Columbia’s New Democratic Party government, which is currently ruling in cooperation with the Green Party, is considered by many to be a socialist party. I don’t see millions of people dying in any of those places because of socialist policies. In fact, on average Canadians live about 4 years longer than Americans do, likely due to our socialist health care system.

If not confused with communism, then probably with national socialism.

Of course the problem with national socialism wasn’t the socialism part, but rather the nationalism. Trump’s national capitalism, or perhaps national financialism/bankism is more accurate since not a lot of actual working capital is involved, is what should be feared rather than the social democrats like Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez.

And it’s not so much the capitalism/financialism/bankism that’s the big problem with Trump, but rather the nationalism that weaponizes the economics part of it.

      • Janos Skorenzy July 6, 2018 at 2:48 pm #

So in other words, Globalism – which means open the borders to the hungry dark skinned hordes.

No, the National part of Socialism is the key to sanity and survival.

Capitalism is also Globalism. Why do you think the two systems attacked Hitler’s Germany? Why do you think the Elder (Capitalism) created and funded the junior (Marxist Socaialism)? Answer: To be Janissary and Beserker against Traditional Societies and then against the Fascist States. Now they are coming against the “Democracies” and remaining middle classes thereof.

        • Bruce E July 6, 2018 at 4:08 pm #

Globalism is the reason the US is so rich, relative to other countries, and why most of these people want to come here.

Just like Hitler’s empire dreams means he couldn’t pretend to have a respect for national borders, our global empire means we can’t pretend our border with Mexico is somehow sacred.

          • Janos Skorenzy July 7, 2018 at 1:56 pm #

Borders are sacred. Things are what they are because they’re not something else. Think you’d last long with your skin scraped off, wide open to infection? Just so the Nation. And if someone did that to you, would you accept them as a friend or lover? Wouldn’t they be your greatest enemy? Just so with the nation. People who want to abolish our borders are the enemies of America and the nation state in general in many cases.

Google “semi-permeable membrane” – which is what most cell wall are. They let some things in and some things out. But mostly they keep things in and keep things out, maintaining the integrity of the cell – which is what it is because it’s not something else.

The idea that there was no trade between nations or that because there was meant they were “globalist” is simply a fatuous conceit. Congratulations!

That is an interesting view. A major problem with health statistics in the USA is the skewing of numbers due to various races and ethnic groups. Blacks tend to be very unhealthy and that alone messes with the summaries. I think were the US to adapt a national health system that it would soon collapse under the weight of lawsuits given that lawyers rule the roost here. I imagine that the countries you listed do not have the problem we do with far too many trial lawyers. Lastly, there is no way to have the crazy sized military we have plus a national health system. I say to my fellow citizens pick one and forget the other. Fat chance. The US has a freakish love for its legions. Beats hell out of me.

        • Anon1970 July 6, 2018 at 6:14 pm #

Blacks tend to be more unhealthy than whites and more likely to be be victims of shootings. For years, there were no major supermarkets in the city of Detroit. A Whole Foods opened a few years ago. My guess is that most residents can’t afford to shop there.

          • Janos Skorenzy July 7, 2018 at 6:23 pm #

Oh, and why do almost no supermarkets want to set up in the ghetto? Maybe because they’d be bankrupted by the constant theft which is feature of Black society?

Good points, Helen. I am baffled by JHK’s disdain for Ocasio-Cortez and her Democratic-Socialist platform.

He has complained and experienced first hand how awful our health care system is. There is no denying the outrageous cost of college, how disruptive and expensive climate change is getting, that trickle-down economics is destroying our economy and the middle class, or the absurd amount of money spent on defense (instead of actually helping Americans).

I think Democratic-Socialist policies are exactly what this county needs. To JHK and others who disagree, how would you address the aforementioned problems?

Surely you can see that? Is there really much difference between a statue of General Lee and that of General Washington? There isn’t and the Left knows that. Only clueless namby pamby media addled normies are confused about That.

      Karen T says: July 4, 2018 at 4:24 pm
The (((media))) is outraged and sputtering that in February a Saskatchewan farmer was found not guilty in the killing of an indigenous man while in defense of his property and recently of a white suburbanite who shot the same when caught trying to steal his truck.
The name of the trucker, a Punjabi, who ran a stop sign killing 16 teenage boys has been withheld either to protect the “joys of diversity” slogan or to prevent a lynch mob from hanging him.
CBC (communist broadcasting corporation) here in Canada has pretty much closed comments on all of their boards and the Liberal party, the reigning force in Ontario for the past 15 years was not only voted out but now lacks the seats to be officially recognized and it was mainly rural and small town (white) people who voted them out. The divide here is as wide as in the U.S.

Ideally, if not for people such as Dr. Macdonald and Pierre de Craon, and the handful I have met living in cities before escaping to Mayberry, the dream solution, if of course the right people were in place to pull it off, would be to sever all contact. No trucks hauling food allowed to enter, noone allowed to leave, all services cut, left to fend for themselves in their multicultural paradise. Within a few months [KAREN IS WRONG–days or weeks]
they would be cannibalizing each other.

      • Helen Highwater July 6, 2018 at 8:30 pm #

I very much doubt that a lynching would occur, even now that the truck driver’s name has been released. And the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Canada’s publicly-funded (socialist) broadcaster, whose Board of Directors still consists mainly of people appointed by a Conservative Prime Minister with not a communist in the bunch, certainly does allow comments on many articles. I’m not sure where Karen T is getting her information from.

All modern nations including the U.S. are social democracies- market economies in which part of the wealth generated by the economy is taxed and directed primarily toward programs supported by social consensus- programs for the elderly, disabled, national defense, etc. Traditionally, political debate has focused on differing opinions on the fine tuning of this accepted system. Today, increasingly politics involves advocacy of replacing this system, the only that has ever produced mass prosperity, with a utopian (,dystopian) system out of a textbook- for example libertarianism or socialism. While there are problems looming that social democracy will have great difficulty dealing with, those dystopian alternatives would simply produce an overlay of man-made social collapse without providing any solutions to the problems we already face..

    • Exscotticus July 6, 2018 at 11:19 pm #

No JHK isn’t confusing socialism with communism. You’re confusing the mixed economic systems of Europe with socialism. So if Europe is socialist, then what is Venezuela?

It’s fair to say that Europe is more socialist than the USA. It’s also fair to say that Venezuela is more socialist than Europe. The further Left you go, the closer you get to Big S Socialism, and the greater the pile of dead bodies.

      • GreenAlba July 8, 2018 at 6:40 am #

“The further Left you go, the closer you get to Big S Socialism, and the greater the pile of dead bodies.”

That doesn’t just apply to ‘left’, though, does it? Many piles of those dead bodies have yet to be uncovered in Argentina and Chile. Many washed up on the beaches near Buenos Aires and had to be hastily buried in secret mass graves. Many others were eaten by sharks after their torturers cut them open and dropped them from planes over the ocean.

Two French nuns were among those killed by the government for their involvement with the Asociación Madres de Plaza de Mayo. The founder of the ‘Mothers’ demonstrating to know where their tortured and murdered children had been ‘disappeared’ to was also killed. One of the nuns, Léonie Duquet. was eventually found in a mass grave 400km from Buenos Aires. The other, Alice Domon, was never found. But they were merely a detail in the larger genocide.

And the world, to its eternal shame, went and played football in the stadiums where the torture and murder took place. The majority of people cared no more then than they do now for such injustices.

It’s not about right and left. It’s about power. And hate. And all you needed to do to be ‘hated’ by the ‘Anticommunist Alliance’ (sounds like Antifa, doesn’t it, except that it was backed by state genocide squads who actually tortured and murdered people in vast numbers) was to be a member of a trade union, or be an ‘intellectual’ or a journalist – or, eventually, anything at all would do, just the look on your face.

        • Exscotticus July 8, 2018 at 2:21 pm #

          @GreenAlba,

          >>> That doesn’t just apply to ‘left’, though, does it?

Certainly not, but the context here is JHK’s commentary on socialism. We now have Dems who are openly advocating socialism, who are brazenly calling themselves socialists. So I think it’s relevant to discuss this recent trend and not dismiss it with some kind of false equivalency argument.

As we all know, the USA has a mixed economy, with both capitalist and socialist elements. The GDP is overwhelmingly socialist, with something like 80% going toward Social Security, Medicare, and the like. This is the starting point at which the Dems are unhappy. We’re not socialist enough! Apparently, we need more wealth redistribution, more government intervention into our lives and finances. We should not be allowed to plan for our own retirement; the government should take half our earnings and plan it for us. Prices for “human needs” goods should be fixed by the government. Etc. Etc.

And before you know it: Venezuela.

          >>> It’s not about right and left. It’s about power. And hate.

It’s about lots of things—including parasitic cultures. It’s about people who don’t want to take responsibility for their actions. Tell us again why the grasshopper should get the ant’s food…

This is why we can’t have nice things.

          • GreenAlba July 8, 2018 at 3:36 pm #

“but the context here is JHK’s commentary on socialism.”

The context of my comment was your point about piles of dead bodies. It was therefore perfectly relevant and nothing to do with false equivalency.

I don’t identify as a socialist – I just pointed out that full-blooded right-wing governments are just as bloody.

“The GDP is overwhelmingly socialist, with something like 80% going toward Social Security, Medicare, and the like.”

            https://www.usgovernmentspending.com/percent_gdp

Public spending as a proportion of GDP appears to have been 37.6% in the US in 2015 (and is ‘guesstimated’ as being about 35.6% this year), compared – within OECD countries – with Colombia at the bottom (25.2%) and Finland at the top (57.1%).

            https://data.oecd.org/gga/general-government-spending.htm

            >>> The context of my comment was your point about piles of dead bodies.

And my point about dead bodies was tied to JHK’s commentary on socialism. The context remained socialism until you decided to counter it with false equivalency, to wit…

Which laissez-faire capitalist nation with few if any social welfare programs is piling up dead bodies? That would be: none. You’d be hard-pressed to find a nation whose economic policy is entirely market-driven.

            >>> Public spending as a proportion of GDP appears to have been 37.6%

By that measure, the USA ranks above Canada. Hubbtard will not be pleased! He really ought to consider leaving brutal capitalist Canada to join the socialist paradise that is the USA.

            >>> And Finland seems to be doing OK

I agree. And I’m even counting the fact that Finland has the highest suicide rate in the OECD. But if your point is merely that Finland is not Venezeula despite having the highest levels of social spending in the OECD then point taken. In Finland’s case, the salient fact isn’t dead bodies so much as a lack of new ones. Finland’s population has essentially remained static since its inception. Compare this to Venezeula, which has roughly doubled its population every twenty years. It’s a lot easier to plan for a static and predictable populace, and especially when you don’t have millions of gimmigrants to contend with.

It’s also worth noting that Finland’s universal basic income experiment is a failure. Turns out when you rob Peter to pay Paul, with no strings whatsoever, Paul is happy and Peter is not. Both end up with less incentive to work. Finland couldn’t figure this out a priori; they had to actually waste taxpayer money to see what would happen. Finland’s problem remains how to get people to work when it’s so much easier to live off the work of others.

“And I’m even counting the fact that Finland has the highest suicide rate in the OECD.”

            https://data.oecd.org/healthstat/suicide-rates.htm

            Oops. Wrong again.

Go Korea…looks like all that capitalism-a-gogo makes people REALLY happy. Hmmm…

Finland USED TO have some awful health statistics – heart disease, diet, suicide. But it turned itself around. Nanny state, eh (booh, hiss, leave it to the market…).

            https://www.theguardian.com/befit/story/0,15652,1385645,00.html

“Thirty years ago, Finland was one of the world’s
unhealthiest nations. Diet was poor, people were inactive
and heart disease was at record levels. Now it’s one of the
            fittest countries on earth.”

“It’s also worth noting that Finland’s universal basic income experiment is a failure. Turns out when you rob Peter to pay Paul, with no strings whatsoever, Paul is happy and Peter is not. ”

Turns out you’re a bit premature. The experiment doesn’t end till December 2018.

            https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/finland-universal-basic-income-experiment-wages-a8322141.html

Still, compared to an 80% public spending share of GDP in the US when it’s actually around 36%, that’s not even a Fake News shocker.

In Venezuela it’s around 40%, by the way. Capitalism’s hard to shift, it seems.

          • Exscotticus July 9, 2018 at 10:46 am #

            >>> Turns out you’re a bit premature. The experiment doesn’t end till December 2018.

True. And the results of the study have not been released. But the fact that Finland denied a request from its own social benefits agency, KELA, to extend or expand the program speaks volumes. They’re the only European nation to have tried this experiment, and they’re ending it. No other nation is even considering it. So it seems that socialism in Europe has its limits, after all.

            >>> Still, compared to an 80% public spending share of GDP in the US when it’s actually around 36%,

Yep I confused % GDP with % of budget. My point was that social programs, such as Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and welfare programs are the biggest portions of the budget, something like 80%. The vast overewhelming majority of the budget is social spending—but apparently not enough for Democratic socialists. To get more social spending, they’ll have to do what they always do: raise taxes.

Just out of curiosity, at what point would you consider a tax rate to essentially be slavery? Finland’s personal income tax rate is around 50%. Would you have any problem with paying 99%? And let’s assume it all goes to social welfare.

Back to science and guys like Al Bartlett for me on this subject of limits to carrying capacity and all. If bacteria in a petrie dish double in mass every day, at one day before destruction, it still looks pretty good in that little dish. With humans, doubling what, every 12 years or so now (don’t quote me), what happens is less resources per capita, a general decrease in standard of living for those not in the upper ranks. We’ve had a general decline in standard of living for some time in the U.S. by many measures, with certainly some increases just due to technological advances. But nature bats last, and the game will go on, until it doesn’t (giant meteor, etc., as some bumper stickers had hoped for in the 2016 election).

Many people have decided that breeding isn’t for them, but still the population increase persists. The majority of populations in the world procreate, it’s too good of an evolutionary force. One thing that suffers is nature, another is standard of living (for the masses). Ironically, many nowadays have little need for nature and could be happy in some measure as long as there’s good wifi. Interesting times.

    • daytrip July 6, 2018 at 12:41 pm #

Correction: adding 1,000,000,000 people every dozen years or so, not doubling. Exponential function is a bitch. The inability to do basic math is our problem, paraphrasing Bartlett.

There are eight ways to have a global catastrophe that could depopulate the planet. The best bet is a flu jumping from animal to human and catching a ride on one of the thousands of international flights a day. The famous Spanish flu came in three waves. About six months apart. NO ONE survived the second one. Eventually one of the eight will happen. Cheers.

Let’s not pretend that the justice system isn’t already deeply politicized, SCOTUS especially. It’s like Sotomayor said of judges and courts, we make policy, er, no we don’t, but yes we do.

Well, yes they do, and we saw it recently in the spate of court decisions invalidating Trump administration polices.

Constitutional crisis? This is a crisis in slow-mo, courts upending the constitutional order of things by intruding on executive and legislative functions.

But the shoe can go on the other foot, if politicized judges and courts can intrude on executive decisions, they’re just begging the executive branch to retaliate and intrude into judicial decisions, which is what these pardons will amount to.

Campus FIGJAMs ( Fuck I’m Great, Just Ask Me ) and their off-campus counterparts (Maxine Waters, a serious idiot) who call for public confrontation and harassment of Trump administration officials are going down an extremely slippery slope. This has every possibility and likelihood of getting nasty. Create a crowd? Tell them they’re not welcome anywhere? Maxine and her ilk are begging not for pen and paper retaliation, as with the courts, but rather conflict of a more kinetic variety.

Civil conflict starts small. Like grabbing MAGA hats. But then it’s tit-for tat.

That dick-head that grabbed the MAGA hat may think he’s a warrior on the side of everything right and just but let’s just say that maybe he hasn’t thought things through. As it is he’s lucky to be merely facing charges of theft and assault because with a somewhat more assertive hat-owner the consequences could’ve been far worse.

    • Ron Anselmo July 6, 2018 at 1:17 pm #

A somewhat more assertive hat-owner, he never would have challenged. Unless of course he had seven other “warriors” with him. If I’m not mistaken, it was a 16 year-old kid. Real tough guy – fits right in with their fascist ilk.

The economy is going to be the x factor in this equation, while you can assign energy as y and human nature as the constant. If and when the economy implodes, expect full time partisan street battles, stagflation, full spectrum institutional failures, and maybe even food shortages of there enough disruptions in distribution.

    • JohnAZ July 6, 2018 at 11:30 am #

Continuing a discussion from Monday, this society of such diverse elements depends on one thing for its cohesion, the allegiance to the law and the US Constitution. Let the Left destroy the Constitution and this country is gone! That is the goal of the liberal globalists and their soldiers in the Progressive party.

      • Tate July 6, 2018 at 12:41 pm #

The Constitution is great, but what happens when it has been stripped of all its protections — even moreso than now? The protections of the 4th amendment have already been severely compromised, for example. What happens when the 1st & the 2nd are equally stricken?

And in any event, if you did a survey, you would find that few average people have any deep abiding affection or even respect for the Constitution. How can they? It’s a blueprint for a government, that’s all. A document & a pretty dry one at that.

Propagandizers over the years have created a cult-like following around the Constitution but this following has never achieved broad popularity. The popularity it does possess resides almost exclusively in old native-born white men, & as we all know now, they’re the enemy.

At swearing-in ceremonies for citizenship, do you think the newbies get all misty-eyed for the Constitution? If you believe that, John, you should go see for yourself. I can assure you they don’t.

        • JohnAZ July 6, 2018 at 3:25 pm #

When people sing the national anthem or say the pledge of allegiance, what do you think they are acknowledging? What the hell do you think the military goes overseas and fights for? What represents the US and is above all of the ethnic differences that have overwhelmed this country. You are wrong, the Constitution is for everyone in this country not just white guys. It is the law of the land. It expresses the rights we are entitled to. It is the statement of individual rights, freedoms and responsibilities that the “Progressives” in their quest for governmental domination hate so much.

That being said, you are right about the fact that the Constitution is under attack and if it is repudiated, that will be the end of the UNITED States of America. I wonder how many slices of the pie can be hewn out of the country by all the diverse groups. We will not be the number one nation, we will nos. 40, 41, 42,43,44, and probably many more. Number 242 may be near the end of it.

When people sing the national anthem or say the pledge of allegiance, what do you think they are acknowledging?

People can acknowledge something without having a deep & abiding respect for it.

            The MICC.

What represents the US and is above all of the ethnic differences that have overwhelmed this country.

So you admit the country has been overwhelmed by ethnic differences but won’t include the Constitution in that which has been overwhelmed? See my post below.

You are wrong, the Constitution is for everyone in this country not just white guys.

I never made that claim. Reread what I wrote.

I think you say a lot of Truth there, John.

A unified culture on ethnicity is coming to an end. So, you are totally correct about allegiance to the Idea of America. If that ends, so does the country. Scary prospect, man.

I don’t know who wants to fight for a government that looks like a McDonald’s with a flag. Not many people, I’d wager.

During the culture wars over gay marriage, a majority of voters in 30 states voted to limit the equal protection rights of gay citizens in ballot initiatives generally sponsored by Republicans in state after state. So I wouldn’t get all misty eyed over the constitution. I have no doubt that many Americans would vote to eliminate various sections of the constitutions if given the chance.

During the Weimar years in Germany, its very liberal constitution did not survive the Great depression and neither did democracy. I learned at a very young age that 6 million European Jews had perished during the Third Reich years. But it was only many years later that I learned that some 6 million German Aryans also perished during those years about 2 million in the battle of Stalingrad alone.

        • malthuss July 6, 2018 at 4:51 pm #

. But it was only many years later that I learned that some 6 million German Aryans also perished during those years —–about 2 million in the battle of Stalingrad alone.
So what is yr point? There were Jews in Hitlers army—adolph was a bad guy.

          • Anon1970 July 6, 2018 at 6:49 pm #

If or when the American system collapses, the damage will cut across many groups and will be widespread. The mansions of Pacific Heights in San Francisco are only a few blocks north of the Western Addition ghetto. In the meantime, party on!

Non-aryans were banned from the German armed forces starting July 1935. Jews of mixed race (Mischlings, with one Aryan parent and one Jewish parent) were allowed to continue to serve in the armed forces for a few more years, but later most of these were dismissed. Exceptions were made for Mischlings with particular skills.

Mischlings who volunteered for the military did so to make life easier for their Jewish parent, not because they were eager Nazis.

      • Tate July 6, 2018 at 2:57 pm #

John I notice that you make the claim that the Left is intent on destroying the Constitution. That is true as far as it goes but it must be put in context. In fact, the principal goal of the Left over the last fifty years has been to assault our Cultural institutions & values. They have largely succeeded at this goal & thus the Constitution has already been lost — that just hasn’t been recognized yet. The reason this is so is because politics is always downstream from culture. Destroy the culture, which the Left has already largely accomplished, & the politics falls like a ripe fruit.

        • JohnAZ July 6, 2018 at 8:19 pm #

I could not say it any better, so I won’t. If the USA goes under and splits up, the Left will be in the lead. We will see, this fall and 2020. I just cannot comprehend their motivation, unless it is just pure evil.

          • Tate July 7, 2018 at 3:08 pm #

I just cannot comprehend their motivation, unless it is just pure evil.

Standby: “Never attribute to malice that which can be ascribed to simple stupidity.”

Most are just brainwashed dupes, believing in egalitarianism with a religious fervor. Egalitarianism is a good thing as far as equality of opportunity. But they insist on taking it further to equality of outcome. This is simply an unsustainable standard & will not be tolerated forever.

There is a faction however that believes that the tearing-down of the U.S. & other western countries will lead to a one-world government. The chief benefit of a one-world govt (in their brilliant minds) would be the elimination of war.

If only this were true. It wouldn’t even lead to the elimination of nuclear war. Can you imagine being a “citizen” of a self-declared one-world government, where your particular group or tribe — whatever you prefer to call it — occupying territory that your ancestors have held for millennia perhaps, has become so intractable & troublesome that the Central Government decides that a few tactical nukes are the appropriate remedy? It could happen. In fact, it would be a likely scenario with a one-world government that in its early stages was seeking to consolidate its control.

So yes, such hubris could be called ‘pure evil’ even as at the same time it would see its motives as entirely for the common good.

Furthermore, the attempts to delegitimize national borders we see today & subsequent settling of incompatible populations within the same territories, could never be allowed to reach its final culminating stage — complete assimilation of those populations with one another. This would simply be creating the original problem anew, that is, the formation of new national identities. So there would have to be a continual reshuffling & mass relocation of populations. We saw this very thing put into practice on a more limited scale in the former Soviet Union. But in the imagined scenario of a one-world government, this forced movement of populations would proceed on a vastly greater stage. In summary, a one-world government would be a tyranny unlike anything ever seen before in the history of Man.

Neither Trump or the Republicans will wind up owning the next collapse. They certainly managed to avoid any blame for the last one. Remember “W”? 2008? Not only did they manage to survive the Obama years, they managed to win in 2016. The public at large has a memory that lasts about as long as a Mayfly lives. For ignoring the history of the Republicans, they will get everything they deserve. Not that the Dems are any better. I’ve pretty much given up on my fellow citizen’s ability to learn anything, and have resigned myself to a future of uncertainty and conflict. There is nothing that I can see that makes me think any differently. Pessimistic? Only because there’s plenty to be worried about, and this country is spinning out of control.

Gotta disagree. The country HATED Bush and his stupid war in Iraq, and turned congress over to the Dems In 2006. Obama promised hope and change. But the average person’s wealth continued to rise as the median person became poorer under Obama.

People DID remember 2008 in 2016. If nothing else, Trump has freed the Republican Party from the scourge of the Bushes, with low-energy Jeb and his $110,000,000 slush fund sent packing. And I think he has freed the Democrats of the scourge of the Clintons, which means they might actually work on a competitive primary for 2020, and come up with someone who cares about the lower classes that have been slammed.

Of course, the only legislative achievement of Trump has been the ridiculous tax bill. Cutting taxes on the upper crust was not his voters’ agenda. He may well pay for that.

The 2 major parties are changing into different things then they previously were, I think everybody can agree on that. What they will evolve into– or if they even survive, is another question.

I see a potential rise into the ‘other’ parties, since the 2 majors appear to be chasing the extremists on either end of the spectrum. A moderate party would deal very well, I believe. The war was over by 2004, but the occupation of Iraq was just beginning. “Mission accomplished” was uttered by Bush 43 in May 2003. By November 2004, Bush had already pushed through two tax cuts and and over 1,000 body bags from Iraq had returned to Dover, DE. Many Americans chose to support Republicans in 2004 because they opposed gay marriage. I wonder if they had buyers’ remorse afterwards, especially with the arrival of the Great Recession?

Ukraine would have been a better war candidate in a Hilary administration. As it was, Victoria Nuland, Hilary’s point person on Ukraine before the latter entered the race for president, encouraged her to support an overthrow of the prior Ukrainian regime which had been more friendly to Russia. The new regime was more friendly to the West, and perhaps was hoping to become a member of NATO and the EU at a later date. If the new regime thought that Russia would stand idly by and allow Sevastopol, its only warm water naval base, to become a NATO naval base, it was very mistaken. Prior to Nikita Krushchev’s day, Sevastopol had been part of Russia since 1783. When Krushchev made the administrative change related to Crimea in the 1950’s, no one expected the future breakup of the Soviet Union.

I doubt that any Democrat will be running in 2020 on a platform of going to war with Russia over the status of Crimea. The neo-cons will remain silent on this issue, as Trump has bought them off with the movement of the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

Real heroic, Jim, mocking the Antifa, while leaving alone that which they are protesting, harrassing, monitoring (and, rarely—but sometimes—beating up).

Would you also mock those who fought against European fascists in Europe? The French, Spanish, Polish, Italian Resistance fighters of the 30s and 40s? The tens of thousands of U.S. Allied troops in WWII? Were THOSE fascists just goofballs, losers, and idiots, not to be taken seriously? And after all, THOSE fascists were far from our shores.

But THESE homegrown fascists and hate groups are right here among us—not an ocean away. Dismiss them? Roll over? Shrug the shoulders?

I’m not 100% sure myself what to think about the most current incarnation of decades of Antifa movements around the world. But it’s worth a more nuanced discussion than an oversimplified, snide remark, which looked to me like a little red meat thrown to your more right-wing readers.

I’d refer you to the excellent book Defying Hitler, by right-wing Prussian opponents of Naziism. How the National Socialists gained power: Left-wing street thugs would assault bourgeois Germans, and the state would do nothing to stop it. national Socialist Street brawlers gained currency by brawling with the Left.

Antifa seem to be re-enacting the same scene today. Unless the government cracks down on leftist street violence, maintaining its own monopoly on violence, it will see the rise of Brown Shirts who will gain recognition and support for defending people from Antifa. Then we are well and truly screwed.

Sebastian Haffner points out, in the book, how utterly limp the Socialist and Communist Street fighters went when the National Socialists took power in Germany. He was dismayed that they seemed to be all talk when a REAL threat to the nation (and the Left) took over.

As Alinsky wrote, the action is the reaction. We are not a country given to National Socialism, but maybe the reaction to Antifa will make us one.

        • Anon1970 July 6, 2018 at 3:00 pm #

My guess is that the Smoot-Hawley tariff of 1930 had more to do with the strong Nazi party showing in German Reichstag elections in 1932 than did Nazi street brawlers. The US tariff increase with its beggar thy neighbor policy caused a major Austrian bank to fail in 1931 and sent unemployment up to about 25% in Germany.

        • Janos Skorenzy July 6, 2018 at 3:12 pm #

Also the Nazis were denied access to the mass media. Sound familiar? So they took their message to the streets – and were savagely attacked. Sound familiar? So the battle was on. After a decade of fighting, tens of thousands of casualties and three hundred deaths, they triumphed.

The nascent Global System could simply NOT allow their radical new 3rd Way take on economics – and the miracle of the reborn Germany to continue because other countries would begin to emulate them and opt out of the usury/debt system of the Global Slave Masters. So Capitalism/Communism attacked.

“When the Soviet Union began to implode on their 70th anniversary in November 1987, completing that downward spiral in the early 1990’s with the breakup of the Soviet Union, NATO became largely irrelevant. NATO had been the western military side of the Hegelian Dialectic. When the Soviet Union broke up into many states, Russia was reestablished. Germany was reunited. The West rejoiced.

Russia then wanted to join with Europe, but the masters in the west still held to its Dialectic philosophy of division. Wolfowitz and Brzezinski took the lead in continuing the Cold War, treating Russia like an enemy. NATO was expanded to the Russian border, contrary to the agreement made with President Clinton, who had promised not to move NATO a single inch toward Russia.

But times are changing, because the Kingdom of God is drawing near. The implosion of the Soviet Union began with President Gorbachev’s speech on the 70th anniversary of the so-called “Russian” Revolution in 1917. That part of the world experienced an iron yoke for 70 years from 1917-1987, similar to Judah’s 70-year captivity to Babylon (Jeremiah 28:13). It later came to be known as “The Iron Curtain.”

The old masters of the beast systems are losing control. A new philosophy is coming in from the East which seeks unity and peace, rather than division and conflict. It is “an alliance to create a planetary protection force,” as Fulford calls it.

This is true “globalism,” without the Hegelian philosophy. The beast systems have used globalism in a destructive way through wars and conflicts that have oppressed and enslaved mankind for a long time. The new globalist view is discarding Hegel and working to replace the European Union with a “Council of Europe” that includes Russia and other countries.

Trump’s sanctions of Russia and Iran are forcing Europe to move in this direction as they reject US sanctions in favor of doing business in Russia and Iran. While this is causing a temporary rift in US-European relations, it has been necessary to do this, in order to end the Cold War. By forcing Europe into establishing stronger trade ties with Russia and Iran, the power of US sanctions will end, and the hegemony of the US dollar will also fall apart.

In the end, the US will cease its policy of sanctioning other nations. Sanctions have worked in the past, but such policies have also forced other countries to defend themselves. So the CIPS system of international payments has been set up in China as an alternative to the SWIFT system that is controlled by the Federal Reserve Bank. More and more countries are now agreeing to use their own currencies for trade payments (especially oil and gas), instead of being forced to use the US dollar.

The bottom line is that the US Empire is crumbling, largely because it misused its sanctioning power to maintain hegemony over the other nations and to pressure the nations to submit to the masters of the beast system of modern Babylon.

Whether or not this was intentional is a matter of debate. The fact is that this is what is actually happening today.”

Did you conveniently forget that Germany took over Czechoslovakia and invaded Poland before the UK and France declared war against Nazi Germany in September 1939? Had Germany stopped after Poland, my guess is that neither France nor the UK would have attacked Germany in 1940 and most Americans had no interest in going to war at that time. Did you also forget that Germany declared war on the US first after Pearl Harbor, not the other way around.

Antifa ARE NOT fascists, Jim — fight me if you don’t like it. To say such a thing is a lazy equivocation and an abuse of language. This contributes to the ongoing erosion of what respect I, for one, have left for you as a social critic.

We had about 70 years when the word fascism could be deployed this lazily, because actual fascism was quiescent and there was little at stake. No more. Like polio, actual fascism is once again spreading beyond its reserve populations and is a serious threat to freedom. It behooves someone who wants his opinions to carry weight, sufficient to be worth paying for, to show that he has come to grips with what actual fascism is, what its aims are, how it will go about achieving those aims, and what the historical record teaches us about the consequences of being dilatory in fighting back against it.

No doubt, Jim, you have in mind campus activism, Black Bloc garbage tactics of the kind deployed e.g. during the anti-WTO demonstrations of the late nineties, and everything that goes under the rubric of political correctness. There’s plenty to say about authoritarianism on the political left, not just the right, and the consequences of identity politics (something I do not engage in). But against uncompromising rhetoric and a few smashed windows on the left, right-wing fascism counterposes open threat and dedication to the means and practice of violence. Campus identity activists shout people down. Fascists are a clear and affirmative threat to any concept of freedom in our society, to say nothing of millions of lives. If you can’t tell the difference, or won’t be bothered to keep the two straight in your rhetoric, what good are you?

I’m not a joiner. Nor am I a participant in any organized group, except for regular donations to my political party. But I proudly profess to be an anti-fascist, with or without the Antifa brand name. I will not sit still while JHK abuses language at the expense of truth.

Antifa are the street thug auxiliaries of Soros & the Globalists. They are the minion stooge shock troops in the game being played by the Left, the con game for public opinion. Generally, they are clueless dupes, directed by their Globalist handlers. So far, their look doesn’t play well in Middle America. They are composed largely of Privileged Misfits, Sexual Deviants, & Unassimilated Ethnics, with heavy emphasis on the first two categories. They are used as the tip of the spear to silence free speech on campuses & in public spaces. The Right will need to adopt tactics of non-confrontation in order to meet peacefully & develop their ideas & recruit new members. Of course, expect heavy infiltration of some lunatic fringe Right wing groups (which Elrond refers to as Fascist & whose numbers are in fact tiny) by extreme Cultural Marxist forces in the government & among the left-wing NGOs, to try to incite more incidents like Charlottesville.

            Janos sez–

“In the real world, political boundaries and public order are maintained thru force. All of them without exception.”

Yes, I agree. However there are major gradients in political theory that allow this is in practical means that are not mutually exclusive to either extremes. For example, I believe in the territorial sovereignty of the US. This sovereignty must be maintained by force. However, this does not make me a totalitarian. I also believe in the need for police forces. This also does not make me a totalitarian. I’m not a totalitarian because I believe in a more minarchist or limited form of federal government that ought to not have uncontrolled power of individual economic or private lives . I also believe in the long tradition of liberty thinking individuals such as John Locke in his Treatises of Government, for one example. Or many of the revolutionary writers.

“The good ones and the bad ones.”

Yes. However, we have the power to consent to good government, not bad government. What’s good government? It’s outlined in the founding docs of the USA. These are a basis for good government. I think the reliance on 2 parties, and the amount of money in government has corrupted our system, but these things aren’t problems without solutions. Furthermore, our system is bad, compared to what? Communist China? The South African republic? We have an imperfect system, which is still better than most or all of them.

“I thought you were better than this, Pete. ‘

I consider myself right of center, but I’m not going to march down the street with the likes of Richard Spencer, for example. Some of these other groups, like the Proud Boys? I don’t know. I’d have to research all of these groups. I’m certainly not interested in the wannabe utopians on the Left, that’s for damn sure.

“The purpose of economic forecasting is to make astrology respectable.”
    John Kenneth Galbraith

“It can really only go two ways: either make money very scarce, in which case a lot of people and enterprises go broke, or, if the monetary authorities respond to the predicament by enabling a return to bottomless credit issuance, the money will become worthless — they’ll be plenty of it, but it won’t buy much.”

This is a classic false dichotomy. Look at the trend lines. The grinding down of the middle class will continue. That is the credit/cash cow of the Corporate State. The one thing you can take to the bank is the drive of the average American to work hard and not buck the trend.

    • Tate July 6, 2018 at 12:57 pm #

By & large, I believe you’re correct. When the next liquidity crisis hits, the Fed will respond similarly to 2008 by opening the credit spigots. This won’t necessarily lead to high consumer price inflation, that being the result of a convergence of economic forces and thus difficult to predict. The middle class will continue to be ground down. People will adapt but life will be harder. Support for UBI will grow.

However, such Republican intentions don’t reflect reality on the ground. Birth control and abortion have been easily available for decades. So why all the unwed mothers?

And if the government isn’t funding Planned Parenthood enough, and if PP isn’t making enough profit selling baby body parts from late term abortions – then the left-wingers should pass the hat. Let the Hollywood pedophiles and rapists contribute money to the cause.

Helen, you sound like one of those nanny-state liberals who support needle exchanges, because addicts can’t mix bleach and water and soak their own needles. Yet they were energetic enough to steal things from us, fence these items, locate and buy drugs.

Maybe what they really need is to change their lives, not their needles. But you Helen are an enabler of bad, self-destructive conduct, the denial of personal responsibility, and blaming those heartless Republicans..

Jim, the overall arc of you post is consistent with you apocalyptic view of reality. But your specific claims are no more than fake news. For example:

    JHK CLAIM
“If the oil price heads back over $100/barrel you can just forget about maintaining the business status quo — and even at that price the shale oil companies won’t make a red cent.”

    FACT
The average break-even point for a fracked horizontal is $65 a barrel with the higher-cost wells coming in at $95 a barrel. So, at $100/barrel profit is realized on almost every shale oil well in existence. It is therefore false to claim shale oil companies “won’t make a red cent” if oil price heads back over $100/barrel.

There are at least seven other false claims made this week, which is why CFN now qualifies as fake news.

My ass is not involved, Jim. Here is my June 2018 source. What is your 2018 data source?

ExxonMobil shale operations were profitable at current 2018 Q1 oil prices, which were well below $100 per barrel.

“ExxonMobil highlighted its shale success in the earnings release for the first quarter of 2018, with “27 operated rigs in the Permian and four operated rigs in the Bakken. Permian and Bakken unconventional production has experienced 18 percent growth year-over-year.”

        • Epicur July 6, 2018 at 9:13 pm #

Janet, I would not pretend to have data at hand to verify or deny the profitability of ExxonMobil’s shale operations, but I do have some working experience with the oil and gas business and “profit” is highly dependent on depreciation and depletion schedules.

It is likely that a good many years will pass yet before we know if rational schedules are being applied. I am familiar with cases where very reputable organizations applied very unrealistic schedules in order to facilitate sale of certain “assets”. When they were ultimately sued over the matter, they lost in court and lost considerable “good will” in the business world.

          • Walter B July 7, 2018 at 5:36 am #

I myself have committed the error of trying to communicate with the chronically stupid, much to my own frustration. What they cannot comprehend is that many business ventures, such as the fracking debacle are not necessarily actual attempts at establishing functioning and profitable business ventures as much as they are set up to establish cash flows. Cash flows that can be tapped into for profit for those that “invest”, usually with other people’s money to pay profits as long as the boom is alive, and to stick the losers with the losses once the venture craps out in the end.

Political correctness is seriously getting its comeuppance.

    1) Brendan Straka, the NY hair stylist, a lifelong liberal, starts a “WalkAway” movement (as mentioned above) from the democrat party for its virtue signaling hypocrisy and hate filled incitements.

    2) The bully who stole a teen’s MAGA hat and threw a drink in his face is fired from his job and he is arrested.

    3) Wisconsin Prof, John McAdams wins lawsuit against Marquette U that fired him for his conservative views. He gets his job back and is awarded back pay. (this is a biggie!)

    4) House repub, Andy Biggs introduces a measure to censure Maxine Water for urging attacks on Trump’s team.

    5) The pipe wielding Antifa guy out to knock heads at a conservative rally get knocked out cold with one fist blow.

Ever consider SSRIs, Jim . . . Prozac, Celexa?

APNewsBreak: US Army quietly discharging immigrant recruits

    https://www.apnews.com/2840d843a42140879f37f2d0927f064b/APNewsBreak:-US-Army-quietly-discharging-immigrant-recruits

“SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Some immigrant U.S. Army reservists and recruits who enlisted in the military with a promised path to citizenship are being abruptly discharged, the Associated Press has learned.

“The AP was unable to quantify how many men and women who enlisted through the special recruitment program have been booted from the Army, but immigration attorneys say they know of more than 40 who have been discharged or whose status has become questionable, jeopardizing their futures.

“‘It was my dream to serve in the military,’ said reservist Lucas Calixto, a Brazilian immigrant who filed a lawsuit against the Army last week. ‘Since this country has been so good to me, I thought it was the least I could do to give back to my adopted country and serve in the United States military.’ …

Eligible recruits are required to have legal status in the U.S., such as a student visa, before enlisting. [Emphasis added.] More than 5,000 immigrants were recruited into the program in 2016, and an estimated 10,000 are currently serving. Most go the Army, but some also go to the other military branches.”

I’ve asked it before, and I’ll ask again: Does America have any honour? Because this isn’t how an honourable country treats those who pledge their lives to its defense.

    • Bruce E July 6, 2018 at 1:43 pm #

Honor or no, it seems moronically impractical to do such a thing in the middle of an already challenging recruiting year:

      https://www.armytimes.com/news/your-army/2018/05/08/with-retention-up-and-recruiting-down-heres-how-the-army-plans-to-add-7500-more-soldiers-to-the-ranks/

Racist ideologues like Stephen Miller are demonstrating their supreme incompetence when it comes to actually governing.

If I were a foreign adversary who wanted to undermine the strength of the United States and her alliances, no amount of conspiracy could accomplish that goal better or more-quickly than what seems to be simple incompetence.

Perhaps I’m being too charitable with this administration, pretending/hoping the breakdown in the practical side of things is unintended…

    • ” Because this isn’t how an honourable country treats those who pledge their lives to its defense.”

Isn’t this hyperbolic? We’re not at war. The military is a government job with massive benefits at taxpayer expense. The likelihood of you getting discharged with anything more than a papercut is infinitesimal.

    • Janos Skorenzy July 6, 2018 at 6:47 pm #

Yeah and all the ICE Agents guarding the border should be dual citizen Mexican nationals – or would you require American Citizenship at all?

Thank God for Trump. And we don’t spell honor like that here, foreigner. You’re on our side of the border on this site so when it Rome and so forth.

    • RB July 6, 2018 at 7:19 pm #

“Because this isn’t how an honourable country treats those who pledge their lives to its defense.”

Who determines what honor is? It gets wearying to hear politicians say “this is not who we are” or something similar. Nor do I think a non living entity such as a country can have a particular trait. If you lay that on Mr. Trump or Mr. Schumer or Mrs. Pelosi, I would say fine.

    • Tate July 7, 2018 at 2:27 pm #

The Left routinely distorts the truth or outright lies. The AP story, from which our dear friend Elrond quotes, is a good example.

      https://www.bizpacreview.com/2018/07/07/aps-report-that-us-army-is-purging-immigrants-is-wrong-but-that-didnt-stop-jeb-bush-from-jumping-651893?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

There is “no new policy,” a Pentagon spokesman says for immigrants who wish to join the U.S. Army.

The AP story quoted a retired U.S. Army colonel about 40 recruits who were hoping to obtain citizenship and had been abruptly dismissed from the military recruiting program, known as MAVNI (Military Accessions Vital to the National Interest), which began in 2009 under former President George W. Bush to meet the military’s need for immigrants with certain special language skills, Fox News reported.

The program, which was suspended last year due to concerns that the Defense Department was unable to properly vet candidates, saw 10,000 immigrants become naturalized citizens since its start. The 40 recruits in question in the AP report had issues with their security clearances and were not summarily “discharged.”

“Any recruit … who receives an unfavorable security screening is deemed unsuitable for military service and is administratively discharged,” Army spokeswoman Lt. Col. Nina Hill said Friday.

Continuing, year after year, to make predictions that never materialize. By now you’d think JHK would know enough to knock this off for the sake of credibility.

As I’ve said before, on this planet there are… too many variables, too many dynamics, too many misunderstandings, too many unidentified black swans circling high up in the stratosphere, too many false datums and info, too much corruption and evil in our midst, etc. etc. for one person to be able to see, digest, analyze and finally come up with a most likely incorrect prediction.

As far as I can understand it all, America and its economy, its economics and its debt and potential “collapse” is all held “together” by what appears to be unending, limitless credit. As those who labor to create value continue to make payments on their debts, those who hold the debts sit back and allow the system to go on. Once payments stop coming in, debt holders have the option to do nothing, sell the bad debts or take possession of the assets secured to back the debts. Many of those who hold the debts have so much income and assets already that they can easily ignore non-payments by the debtors, and as long as this is acceptable to the debt owners, nothing needs to change or collapse. The laborers simply learn to do less, eat less, entertain less, on and on as their own personal economics degrade. Heck, this degradation can go on for decades with a little patience by the owners of the debts, don’t you know?

Only an interruption in the supply chain could cause a severe reaction so my bet is on continued degradation ad infinitum. There are a number of very interesting social engineering programs underway that I have been made aware of recently that may very well allow for this all to go on and on for a lot longer than any of us could imagine. More on that later. It was a busy week for me.

“It’s tough to make predictions, especially about the future.”

    ? Yogi Berra

Yes, it is shaping up to be a boffo, bang-up, blockbuster of a midsummer and beyond, with all the attendant Antifa follies, economic enthusiasm, and political potboiling going on.

I agree with Elrond that Antifa is NOT fascist but instead some sort of malignant anarchy-themed bought-and-paid-for Socialist/Communist fun club ( and I smell a Soros.) I can only hope that one of the trigger events for this Summer of Frolix, is that an opposition warrior lets the Antifa feel the grave reality of honest armed pushback. The best defense is a good offense.

I’m surprised that American Urban Youth and other Inner City feral creatures have not made time for their own “Summer of Frolicking.” Maybe a down-home Baltimore, Chicago or Oakland riot can be had with the insistence of not following police instructions or some thug singing “Busta Capp” at a local politicos office. Thanks, Maxine!

Will the market tank? Fuck if I know, but with the amount of A.I. trading, manipulation and fraud going on I don’t think the Good Ship Lollypop can negotiate the narrow Straits of Economic Reality forever. Maybe The Donald’s Tariff and Trade War with China can get some traction in that regard.

Finally, as far as makin’ predictions, I usually take The Yogi’s advice darn seriously. However, I can make a shure bet: the U.S. military will be keeping Syria on the front burner of air and special ops for the next several and, of course, the American project of bringing Democracy and Modernity to Shitholistan will continue indefinitely a la Ixion’s Wheel.

First off, the criminal law applies only to the poor. The US has millions of poor people in prisons and jails. Millions of the poor rot in jail because they can’t pay a $100 bond or fine. Name a single important person in US history who has gone to prison for a long stretch for major crimes? No actor is going to prison – all theater for voting morons.

Mueller and Trump are on the same team. Trump intended to join the swamp all along. The real cash lies there. Trump came in a billionaire and will leave office one of the richest men in the world. No truth in the MSM, or the alternate MSM, Just BS to rile up the sheep and keep them angry and afraid.

Because the sellout scumbags who rule get a lot more laughs out of a stupefied public when they are convinced that the idiots believe their lies. By calling them out for the dirt that they are, it not only robs them of total victory but creates a fear of discovery and maybe even retribution. The more we sing out and expose their lies and deception, the less joy they can take from them and if you think that this counts for nothing, I assure you that you are incorrect. It bothers them for in their own minds they are convinced that they are superior. The fact that we know them for criminals and call them out for it deprives them of the total victory that they desperately strive to achieve.

Do you think Putin told Trump who to pick for the Supreme Court? == VCS

The story of Trump’s relationship with the US Supreme Court is so amazing that I can’t stop thinking about it, since Hillary Clinton certainly controls the Fourth Estate – the press, and also the judiciary or rather … um, I do not even know how to say, probably law enforcement system and a significant number of the lower courts.

And Trump according to Constitution controls the executive power and he is supported by the vast majority of the American people, but nevertheless he was powerless in the first year of his term before Bastinda and her flying monkeys, despite the fact that she is lying when she says that majority voted for her.

In fact, no more than 15% of voters voted for her.

This is how the situation turned out, and the fact that Trump survived in the first year was largely determined by the fact that his son-in-law is a Jew, the grandson of the commander of the Soviet anti-Nazi guerilla detachment in Belarus, the daughter converted to Judaism, and he himself promised to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and fulfilled the promise by transferring the US Embassy to Jerusalem.

And all this struggle is an iceberg, the visible part of which was the US Supreme Court, and this has the most direct relation to Orthodox Christianity and, accordingly, to Russia.

The secret agreement between Israel, Russia and Assad on the withdrawal of Iranian troops from South Syria became a secret of Polyshinel, but the Jewish lobby apparently supported Trump primarily in the US Supreme Court, and in the previous week Trump won three cases there, which for 2 years were stuck at a dead end:

The case of the right of the administration to deny entry to the US to people from countries infected with ISIS and the case of the cancellation of automatic payments of membership fees to labor unions (which mostly support Hillary Clinton and are beautifully described in “Once Upon a Time in America”)

The most important thing is that Justice Kennedy decided to retire peacefully, who voted both ways, providing a balance of liberals and conservatives in the US Supreme Court, and now Trump has to ensure dominance in the Court by conservatives, and while the Republicans retain the majority in Congress and the Senate nominating the corresponding judge who will vote accordingly including on the issue of firing Mueller or pardoning those who became his victim, as well as on the issue of possible falsification of the results of voting in midterm elections in November.

I think that “Blue Wave” hit the copper pan with a bang and the point of application of geostrategic forces became not only the elections in November, but the appointment of a new member of the Supreme Court of the United States.

At this point is the Great Crumbling, I’d like to propose that both the Alt-Right and Ctrl-Left take a deep breath and start thinking very carefully about what it is that they fervently wish for.

There’s still money to be made, and the status quo Keepers of money and power will not see themselves thwarted by roaring fools displaying the yugeness of their genitalia in the streets. (Pssst; I’ll tell you a little secret…. it’s damn good cover.)

And so, in case you’d forgotten (which is *very* likely; after all, it was some hours ago), let’s refer back to Capt. Spaulding’s post:

“Neither Trump or the Republicans will wind up owning the next collapse. Only because there’s plenty to be worried about, and this country is spinning out of control.” – Hello, I must be going

What the authoritarian demagogues of all stripes fail to recognize is that *we* are the ones they should be wary of. We tend to be fairly stoic until it’s a necessity that something be done. Until that time (when too many family members have been disappeared), the strengthening of the police state that protects the privileged will continue apace.

Ps. Oh yes, I hear the whataboutism coming on like an overwhelmed storm drain, but guess what? I’ve thought much further ahead than the next “newsworthy confrontation”. Swim for your lives, ye blinkered bastids!

There would be no Canada without the conquest and dispossession of the Indians there. You are simply throwing darts at your own portrait since you owe everything you have and are to that conquest. And filled with ethnomasochism, you surrender to their shake down – as if they would actually want to go back to the “good old days” of stone age hunter gathering.

If you admire the Indians so much, why don’t you act like them and revere your ancestors like they do – instead of shitting on them?

This work articulates a history of the increasing incoherence of destructive and frenzied human activity manifesting on Mother Earth. One theme is “The dishonoring of treaties is essential to the goal of the U.S. and Canadian vested interests which are organized to remove any and all obstacles to their exploitation of the Earth and her peoples.” The act of “taking without asking” is attributable to both children and immature cultures alike.“

Having enough intelligence to tie my own shoes I have to ponder the PSYcology and overwhelming urge for you to express your OPinion on this. Perhaps you can induce Ozone to elaborate.

Some people talk on cell phones when alone. Some people talk when alone but they don’t need a phone. Some people are prone to talking to themselves not by talking at all but by typing here. Different characters but the same author, an author that does not use HTML tags.

Since no edits are allowed in comments it would be a problem getting a small group of trolls to use them consistently. Best not change the marching orders. It is easy to make mistakes. I try not to but still do. So I won’t be seeing you with bold and italic decorating your comments far into the future. Perhaps for a while to spite me. But not for long.

Yes, and I have to THANK SOMEONE for that. It is very unpleasant but when real people are fucking with you and violating your rights it has a way of putting things in proper perspective.

Of course I did not take the advice to just sit back and watch the show. That’s not a very reasonable request to make of someone who had the stones to go down the rabbit hole and discover what you guys are up to is it?

Work on your damage control. All you did was stop me from trying to expose you because I found you have all your bases covered so that’s impossible. Mostly too because people, sadly to say, are generally too dim to care about tyranny when it comes with a smiling face. That and having full control of media by requiring all news to pass through emails which can be stopped, scrambled, and returned, as needed, makes your jobs eminently secure.

It is disappointing the wool was pulled over the eyes of the news medial so easily. A sad commentary on the human condition. But if there were as many of me as there are of you I’d win and we all know it. More of me could break through that news barrier you erected because the truth would then be apparent and not a piss in the wind by a single poerson who can just be dismissed as a ‘nutjob’.

At some point changing times may increase the number of barking dogs. So many you can’t keep up. Then what are you going to do when you have 1000 k-dogs to suppress at once.

As you prepare your response consider I know you can’t really threaten me. The security teams are separated from you and while you can summon their aid you can’t tell them what to do. You also have the problem of me being aware of your existence. Most of your intimidation tactics are to designed to amplify doubts and insecurities which I don’t have. You don’t have a play-book for me anymore.

Try it again and I’ll be in your face.

Actually it is good advice. From one sociopath to another sort of advice. Fuck grandchildren, make your own way and screw everybody else. Global warming ha! Light a match.

Candide, as he was returning home, made profound reflections on the Turk’s discourse. “This good old man,” said he to Pangloss and Martin, “appears to me to have chosen for himself a lot much preferable to that of the six kings with whom we had the honor to sup.” … “Neither need you tell me,” said Candide, “that we must take care of our garden.” “You are in the right,” said Pangloss; “for when man was put into the garden of Eden, it was with an intent to dress it: and this proves that man was not born to be idle.” “Work then without disputing,” said Martin; “it is the only way to render life supportable.” – from Candide by Voltaire

That’s one view. It has some merit. So does this:

You have come to fight as free men, and free men you are. What will you do with that freedom? Will you fight? Aye, fight and you may die, run and you’ll live. At least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they’ll never take our freedom! ,- William Wallace from the movie Braveheart

You need to watch Metropolis again. Remember when the beautiful young women took the workers up from the depths into the free air and sunshine. The young Elitist axed, Who are they? She replied, They are your brothers and sisters.

But you won’t understand until a robot-computer-rat named So-crates takes your job. Then you will remember my words and fall to your knees in agony.

            a.href = URL.createObjectURL(file);
            a.download = name;

            Since you mention Metropolis,

“The Mediator Between the Head and the Hands Must Be the Heart”.

That text I recall was the closing scene.

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez upsets Crowley and may become the youngest woman ever elected to the House. But she wants to abolish ICE and carries most of the other travel worn Progressive baggage. The rest of the world is through with the fiat dollar and is trying to extricate itself from it without starting a fight with the Big Bad Boy USA.. You really think that trillion a year military of ours is there to keep us safe from an invading force! Nope! It’s there to keep the world from abondoning the dollar. When the petrodollar eventually dies, deficits will unfortunately matter again and hyperinflation will sneak in throught he back door.

“if the American people ever allow the banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by deflation then by inflation, the banks and corporations that grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers occupied…. banking instituitions are more dangerous to liberty than standing armies.”

“They were not a nation nor were they a unified group of tribes.
They were a people, not a nation.
    Not ‘peoples.’”

    https://ratical.org/many_worlds/6Nations/

“Iroquois Confederacy, also called Iroquois League, Five Nations, or (from 1722) Six Nations, confederation of five (later six) Indian tribes across upper New York state that during the 17th and 18th centuries played a strategic role in the struggle between the French and British for mastery of North America. The five Iroquois nations, characterizing themselves as “the people of the longhouse,” were the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, and Seneca. After the Tuscarora joined in 1722, the confederacy became known to the English as the Six Nations and was recognized as such at Albany, New York (1722).

Tradition credits the formation of the confederacy, between 1570 and 1600, to Dekanawidah, born a Huron, who is said to have persuaded Hiawatha, an Onondaga living among Mohawks, to abandon cannibalism and advance “peace, civil authority, righteousness, and the great law” as sanctions for confederation. Cemented mainly by their desire to stand together against invasion, the tribes united in a common council composed of clan and village chiefs; each tribe had one vote, and unanimity was required for decisions. The joint jurisdiction of 50 peace chiefs, known as sachems, embraced all civil affairs at the intertribal level.“

An old friend of mine, with whom we conducted very fruitful discussions on the most urgent topics of Russian Christianity, namely Hegel and Christ, or rather, in reverse order, brought up this topic.

But you can not erase words from the song and this question is connected with the most important issue of modern geopolitics – the issue of the interaction of Fascism and Nazism.

The fact is that the leading expert of the Russian Empire in Hegel was Ivan Ilyin and now the question of Ivan Ilyin’s fascism is becoming the most important issue of US domestic policy, which Hillary Clinton has not yet managed to entangle with her semantics.

Regarding Putin’s March 1 report to the Federation Council
    http://en.kremlin.ru/events/president/news/56957

I can say that the situation seems to be deadly serious.

It’s not in the Russia’s political tradition to declare about its military capabilities,

It is more customary for Russia to classify everything that’s possible.

I estimate the situation as follows. In the US, generation have come to power that grew up in an era of total American domination and are under the illusion that they can win a nuclear war (well, or Russia will not respond). And they went for it. Putin is trying to scare them.

Desperately trying to explain that the retaliatory strike will blow “the whole world to dust.”

And, I believe, this is not a bluff.

Many people started talking about Putin, the dreamer and all these tales. This is of course nonsense. In such matters, they do not bluff. Simply because their mass production will begin … or will not begin and everything will be clear. I think that in the near future will be carried out the next tests, and the test zones will be indicated in advance to our “partners” – that they could take at least basic parameters of the new weapons.

The bottom line is that the war can begin at any time – despite the fact that the American establishment uses the judgment of Russia that belongs to the Russian domestic liberal crowd, which, with foam at the mouth, will tell that all this is Putin’s fantasy. And they will believe it.

And then we all – and they, too, will die.

But more significantly: when in the last 15 yearshas JHK, prophet of doom, NOT forecast a “blowup of the stock and bond market later this year?” In other words, He has successfully predicted thirteen of the last two recessions.

The age of the disabled has gone down—in 2014, 15 percent of men and 16.2 percent of women in their 30s or early 40s were on disability, up from 6.6 percent and 6.4 percent in the 1960s. Rates of disability track areas of joblessness, forming “disability belts” in Appalachia, the Deep South, and other regions. In a couple of counties in Virginia, fully 20 percent of working adults ages 18–64 are now receiving disability benefits. West Virginia, Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Mississippi are the top five states for disability disability beneficiaries, with 7.9–8.9 percent of the workforce receiving income replacement. Disability payments received by beneficiaries in these five states exceed $ 1 billion per month. In these areas, disability benefits are so widespread that the day that checks arrive is like a monthly holiday. Said one West Virginian who processed disability claims, “They’re a vital part of our economy. A lot of people depend on them to survive. [On the days checks arrive] you avoid the pharmacy. You avoid Wal-Mart. You avoid, you know, restaurants… Everybody’s received their benefits. Let’s go shopping.”

“The biggest growth categories of disability are “mental disorders” and “musculoskeletal and connective tissue,” which together now comprise about 50 percent of disability claims, nearly double what they were 20 years ago. These diagnoses are also the hardest to independently verify for a doctor. The number of people who applied for disability benefits in 2014 was 2,485,077. On any given business day, there are 9,500 applicants. There are 1,500 disability judges around the country who administer the decisions, often without seeing the claimants. The waiting period to get a hearing is now more than 18 months in most states. To apply for disability, applicants must gather evidence from medical professionals. They compile notes from doctors, send in the information, and wait to hear back. No lawyer representing the government cross-examines them. No government doctor examines them. About 40 percent of claims are ultimately approved, either initially or on appeal. The lifetime value of a disability award is about $ 300K for the average recipient.”

I read that Warren Buffet is investing in trailer parks. Apparently, the monthly lease for a white trash trailer park site is about $500 – $700 per month. So this might be big business if they put everybody on Universal Basic Income of a 1,000 bucks a month? It’ll become a giant trailer park dystopia.

“The numbers have grown to a point where more Americans are currently on disability than work in construction. In 2013, 56.5 percent of prime-age men 25–54 who were not in the workforce reported receiving disability payments.”

They’ll love the Universal Basic Income. They’ll absolutely love it.

““Tony is currently on disability, and his first review will be after two years. “Thank God for disability. If not for disability I would have worked myself to death and died.” Tony is 42. He volunteers at a local church. “I live in western Massachusetts, which is not someplace that people think of as struggling. But it’s crazy how many people come in to church who are living in tents and on the street. People just do what they have to do to get by.” I’m personally very glad that disability was there for Tony. For him, disability was literally a lifesaver. J. D. Vance writes of how the people in Ohio became angry that they were working hard and scraping by while others were doing nothing and living off of government checks. He cites this resentment toward government handouts as an explanation for why regions like Ohio have become more Republican.”

Well yes – that’s why everyone has to get it. So people who work won’t feel resentful. Their work is then something added on to their basic Social Security. Not referring to the Program here per se. Just the idea itself. Call it a social dividend – a sharing of the wealth of the Nation and our Civilization; a repudiation of their Idea that they built this all by themselves; the fulfillment of the dreams of the Ancient Greeks echoed by the World Fairs and all the Utopian throughout the Ages: Leisure and basic Prosperity for all. People who want more – and most will at least sometimes – will still work and seek work. Indeed, a job will be more of a status symbol than ever because of their scarcity. Nothing good will be lost – but so much bad will be.

New problems? Sure, but they are Dwarfed by the evils we will be surmounting. Better to embrace the Great Good that we know rather than rejecting it for the evil that isn’t even here yet. Especially since we will be overcoming great Evils already present.

Doesn’t look as if there’s much of one for Brexit either, but fingers crossed the Tories get their fingers out soon, because it’s all getting very, very silly. You think it can’t get any more shambolic and…pouf, that magic Tory wand takes it to a whole new level.

Which might make you laugh if your job wasn’t about to disappear to the European mainland, I suppose.

Christopher Langan, possibly the smartest man in America (IQ estimated to be 190-200) was kicked off Facebook for comparing Somalis negatively to the recently deceased lowland Gorilla, Koko. Koko never harmed anyone and had an IQ of 75. Somalis are very violent and usually have IQs below that. Why not bring in Lowland Gorillas instead?

          Indeed it doesn’t.

Yet so many, supposed at least, geniuses waste time and effort addressing the symptoms.

The complex and sundry and myriad stemming from 1 problem.

It does take a genius to see the failures and shortcomings of the many.

But go on, rage about politics, race, finance, resources.

            That’s the point.

I didn’t make the discovery that overpopulation is the root cause.

I was merely convinced that it’s the root cause of many of our vast predicaments.

If you keep watching, he gets to the point, rather diplomatically, that the stupid people need to get out of the way of the truly smart people with the solutions.

Whether I’m stupid or not is immaterial. That’s what you self-described “smart” people don’t get. Call it the primary affliction of the modern world: the inability to recognize the limits to human agency. The ancient Greeks got it. It gave them their sense of the tragic. So let me rephrase my comment above because silly me, I forgot the keystone component:

“the underlying problem is Who/Whom. And that can never be solved by any number of councils, advisory boards of experts, polls of public opinion, series of white papers, think tanks, blue ribbon commissions, international agreements, cabinet posts, policy czars or even the smartest man in the world.

JUST ANOTHER CANNIBALISTIC, MOTHER-RAPING WAR IN THE CONGO
UN human-rights experts—not that we trust them, nor that we even necessarily believe in or support human rights—have released a 126-page report detailing the grisly atrocities perpetrated between government forces and rebels in the Congo starting in late 2016.
You think Roots was bad? Listen to this:
      • Young boys were forced to rape their mothers (which assumes they had to be forced)
      • Soldiers ate victims’ flesh AS they died, not after they died
      • Soldiers “sported female genitals as medals”
      • Penises were cut from living men
      • Little girls were convinced that witchcraft would enable them to catch bullets without harm
      • Lots of blood-drinking
      • 186 men and boys from one village were decapitated in one fell swoop

Please share this article by using the link below. When you cut and paste an article, Taki’s Magazine misses out on traffic, and our writers don’t get paid for their work.

At the end of the State of the Union, he said: We’re going to do something special. We’re going to have a Marshall Plan to rebuild the world, rebuild America and private corporations can contribute, private people, which wasn’t in the Marshall Plan. It was just simply government. I don’t even know what he’s talking about is legal. I know he’s raising a kitty. He’s got, I know he has a huge commitment from the Saudis, he’s raising a kitty for after, and my heuristic guess, it’s more a little bit more than a guess, after the congressional elections and no matter what happens, this could be a Republican Senate.”

You’re not wrong. And you’re right to assume the actual study showed the effect to be very marginal, as with so many breathlessly quoted studies.

The theory, as far as it goes, is that attractive people, who are used to things and people falling at their feet (poetic license here, but you catch the drift) have a ‘blind spot’ that makes them less likely to understand what life is like for the less privileged generally, hence are less likely to support welfare of various kinds.

          https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/jan/31/hunky-tory-attractive-people-more-likely-to-be-rightwing-study-finds

It’s a bit like people who’ve inherited a pile of money, intend to pass on a pile to their children after they’ve already benefited from the best education money can buy, yet think everyone else should stand on their own two feet because getting stuff for nothing is bad for the soul.

No-one said life was fair. Or even that right-wingers had any more insight than libruls.

          @Tate

And anyone wanting to score a miserable point from a young dead girl needs to have a word with themselves. In your case, possibly during a quiet moment in church.

    Fuck Obama Doctrine == Janos

    We’re America, Bitch!
    https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/06/a-senior-white-house-official-defines-the-trump-doctrine-were-america-bitch/562511/

Using Hillary deranged semantics, Trump is being blamed for applying the so-called principle of moral equivalence, the inadmissibility of which is the cornerstone of not only attacks on Trump but also American policy during the Cold War, to which it was imported from Nazi Germany by Allan Dulles.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moral_equivalence

And Trump attacks on US “allies” have a very simple explanation – those “allies” turned out to be on the wrong side of the Civil War in US.

The most malicious attempt to “Americanize” the consciousness of humanity is the theory of moral equivalence, or rather the theory of it aggressive denial, according to which moral norms are not the same for all mankind.

This theory is a kind of product of a distorted dualism that paradoxically won in Europe in the 13th and 14th centuries as a result of the struggle with the dualism of the Catholic Church and according to which there are peoples who are Sons of Light and are peoples that are the Sons of Darkness, and the aggression of the Sons of Light against the Sons of Darkness is not aggression, but defense.

Moreover, the Sons of Light can commit terrible atrocities against the Sons of Darkness and at the same time remain “good guys”, and the Sons of Darkness can show nobility and kindness as much as they wish, still remaining the “bad guys”.

This is a great site, written by a wonderful author, who writes great books. I have read them all. The description of a post-collapse society in the World Made by Hand series are better than any I have read anywhere, and I have read dozens of post-collapse books.

I have one complaint though. . .saying year in, and year out, year after year, decade after decade that the big collapse is about to happen, like in a month or two, seems. . .inaccurate. It didn’t happen last year, it didn’t happen the year before that, five years before that, it won’t happen this fall, or next year, or the year after that. Repeating again and again and again that the sky is falling, when, in fact, the sky never falls, seems irrational.

I do believe that our debt and dependence on finite resources is going to create big, big problems for the US at some point. I don’t believe that saying it’s about to happen, every few months, for decades is helpful or accurate, though.

It’s a mistake to try & pinpoint the time of a collapse. It’s like seeing a crack in a dam that never gets repaired, & saying that it will collapse on a certain date, year, etc. The only thing you can say with any certainty is that at some point it will fail. Anything else is fortunetelling.

Regarding predicting when a “collapse” might come, there is actually a science of these things.

The science does not allow precise predictions, but does give windows. Didier Sornette is a fairly well known scientist and author (in some circles) who studies these things (he started out in geophysics, which is closer to my dealings with this sort of calculation) who has also made some predictions.

He does not predict a collapse, but a “phase change” in civilization. His number is 2045 plus or minus 15 years. I certainly would not expect any overnight changes, but a period of turmoil starting with the financial system and ending with wars and plagues (is there a difference?) that reduce population and clear the ledgers.

As long as we avoid a full-scale nuclear exchange or a virulent, 100% fatal, man-made plague life (and civilization) will go on.

A phase change called the long emergency which for America will be like an old man moving into an assisted care facility. Death comes later.

      Didier

is a French geophysicist that applied advance math previously used to predict earthquakes to predict whether or not a bubble exists in stocks, and, if so (at least in prior work) how long the bubble had until it popped. He pegged that we were going to enter a singularity around 2045 or so where all bets are off, based solely on the math.

I’d like to see the math. Without it I can’t have an opinion. 2045 is a long way away yet, that could be the time when the weak old man finally keels over and can’t be resuscitated any more. The time when oil is too hard to pump. Even at a loss.

“… that could be the time when the weak old man finally keels over and can’t be resuscitated any more. The time when oil is too hard to pump. Even at a loss.”

An even greater stressor would come about if we find a replacement for oil and millions of very well armed Arabs and Persians (and Nigerians and Indonesians, though they are less well armed) are starving because the market for their commodity has collapsed.

Predictions are difficult, especially about the future.

Looking up Didier I fear he may be too close to the economics of the problem to get a clear view of things. That matters because it affects his judgment about what to do with his math skills.

If all you do is deal with finance you do not have a clear understanding of the actual physical situation because you have been consumed by the abstraction of money. Money is not a real indicator of on the ground reality. Downturns are possible in a land of plenty. JHK can’t predict markets a year ahead and I hope Didier isn’t prediction economics 27 years in the future because he won’t do any better.

I found him in an article basically teaching classical economics to dummies. Not good. If his math reflects his geophysics and his science training fine, if his prediction math has anything to do with money he is full of shit. Highly educated ship but shit it remains.

      • Epicur July 9, 2018 at 8:46 am #

The math is not like a formula that you plug variables into and get an answer. You might look at “Self-organized Criticality” and “Power Law” on wikipedia.

An illustration is the process of listening to the little “pings” in an item under stress like a cylinder of rock or concrete in a compression test. The pings follow a power law distribution where they increase at a steady rate in accordance with a power law, but then diverge from the power law (become larger and more frequent) as the cylinder approaches rupture.

This sort of behavior also applies to human systems, including wars. As far as markets are concerned the process above depends on the well-documented phenomenon of “crashes” (or other regime changes) occurring after prices “go parabolic” and increase at an increasing rate (depart from the power law distribution). Observation of the price fluctuations allows Sornette’s group to propose “windows” of time in which a crash will occur, but only after a particular market has “gone parabolic” and price fluctuations occur more frequently than the power law predicts.

With war one would look at how often little wars occur and how much damage is inflicted. Others have observed that big wars are preceded by periods in which the rate (and size) of small conflicts increases.

As far as his prediction of the critical time for humanity, this seems to be from observing multiple markets and other human behavior (including population and conflict) on a large scale, all of which show signs of converging on a critical time of 2045 =/- 15 years.

It was tough but some people go some love.

Washington, DC – Today in DC Superior Court, federal prosecutors filed notice of their intention to drop charges against all remaining defendants facing charges from protests against President Trump’s inauguration on January 20, 2017.

All defendants had originally faced felony charges of conspiracy to riot, engaging in a riot, and several counts of property destruction, with each person facing a sentence of up to 60 years in prison. The last 39 defendants have now had their charges dismissed without prejudice, meaning that charges could hypothetically be re-filed at a later date.

An email sent by Assistant US Attorney Rizwan Qureshi with the motion today said that the government would be dismissing charges in “all Inauguration Day rioting cases.”

On Trump’s inauguration day, DC police detained the entire “anti-capitalist, antifascist” march at 12th & L streets and mass-arrested over 200 people. Federal prosecutors then began pressing a massive dragnet felony case, arguing that at the protest was legally liable for all alleged criminal acts committed near the protest.

The case brought by Assistant US Attorneys Jennifer Kerkhoff and Rizwan Qureshi had fallen flat at trial twice, without securing any convictions. The first trial late last year ended in full acquittals after the government sought to convict six people based on their “mere presence” at the protest, arguing that by being present, they helped others commit property destruction.

The second trial in May and June 2018 saw four defendants walk with a mixture of acquittals and mistrial verdicts due to a hung jury, after jurors were not convinced by the alleged identification of masked individuals seen breaking windows in video footage.

The ‘J20’ prosecution has been riddled with controversy and prosecutorial misconduct throughout its duration. During the second trial this year, DC Superior Court Chief Judge Robert Morin sanctioned the US Attorney’s Office for illegally hiding evidence it had obtained from the discredited, far-right “entrapment journalism” group Project Veritas.

Other issues plaguing the case involved DC police officers with a clear bias against protesters. Detective Greggory Pemberton, the main detective behind the case, is an elected police union official with a history of making social media posts lambasting protesters. Another police witness, Officer William Chatman, made headlines for wearing a shirt celebrating police brutality around the courthouse after he testified in the second trial.

The US Attorney provided the following statement about their decision to dismiss the remaining cases:

Twenty one had plead guilty, only one to a felony charge.
