When historians of the future finish their meal of rat à la moutarde at the campfire, and pass around the battered plastic jug of wild raisin wine, they will kick back and hear the griot sing of John Brennan, the fabled chief of an ancient order called the CIA, and how he started the monkey business aimed at bringing down the wicked Golden Golem of Greatness, chief of chiefs in the land once known as America. Alas, the hero’s journey of Brennan, ends in a jail cell at the storied Allenwood Federal Penitentiary, where he slowly pined away between games of ping-pong and knock-hockey, dreaming of a cable network retirement package that never was….
One gets the feeling more and more that Mr. Brennan is at the center of this ever-mushrooming matrix of scandals around the 2016 election. “Bigger Than Watergate?” the headline in today’s New York Times asks? The mendacity of this once-proud newspaper is really something to behold. Take the following paragraph, for instance:
“Depending on what is eventually proven, the core scandal could rival Watergate, in which a “third-rate burglary” of Democratic National Committee headquarters ultimately revealed a wide-ranging campaign of political sabotage and spying to influence the 1972 presidential election and undercut perceived rivals. In the current case, a hostile foreign power sought to sway the 2016 election and there is evidence that at least some people in Mr. Trump’s circle were willing to collaborate with it to do so.”
You have to really wonder how the Times editors overlooked the other relevant details in the current case pertaining to goings-on initiated by Mr. Brennan and involving obviously criminal misbehavior among the US Intelligence services, and especially the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in their effort to un-do the election that put the Trump creature in the White House instead of the enchantress known as Hillary. I did like the trope “a hostile foreign power.” Apparently they were too embarrassed to just say “Russia,” since by now it has become the most threadbare hobgoblin in all of US political history.
Rumors are flying that the long-awaited (so long it is nearly forgotten) Department of Justice Inspector General’s report contains a rather severe interpretation of what actually has been going on for the last couple of years in this farrago of charge and countercharge that the legacy news media has been doing its best to garble and deflect — namely, that the highest officers of the government conspired to tamper with the 2016 election. The latest twist is news — actually reported by the Times Thursday — that the FBI placed a “mole” inside the Trump campaign. If the mole discovered anything, then it is the only morsel of information that hasn’t been leaked in two years, which leads the casual observer to infer that the mole found really nothing.
On the other hand, a great deal is already known about the misdeeds surrounding Hillary and her supporters, including Mr. Obama and his inner circle, and some of those incriminating particulars have been officially certified — for example, the firing of FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe on recommendations of the Agency’s own ethics committee, with overtones of criminal culpability. There is also little ambiguity left about the origin of the infamous Steele Dossier. It’s an established fact that it was bought-and-paid-for by the Democratic National Committee, which is to say the Hillary campaign, and that many of the dramatis personae involved lied about it under oath. Many other suspicious loose ends remain to be tied. Those not driven insane by Trumpophobia are probably unsatisfied with the story of what Attorney General Loretta Lynch was doing, exactly, with former President Bill Clinton during that Phoenix airport tête-à-tête a few days before FBI Director Jim Comey exonerated Mr. Clinton’s wife in the email server “matter.”
One can see where this tangled tale is tending: to the sacred chamber known as the grand jury. Probably several grand juries. That will lead to years of entertaining courtroom antics at the same time that the USA’s financial condition fatefully unravels. That event might finally produce the effect that all the exertions of the so-called Deep State have failed to achieve so far: the discrediting of Donald Trump. Alas, the literal discrediting of the USA and its hallowed institutions — including the US dollar — may be a much more momentous thing than the fall of Trump.
Personally, I won’t be completely satisfied until the editors of The New York Times have to answer to charges of sedition in a court of law.

School shooting reported ongoing right now in Santa Fe, Texas. The ATF (ministry of alcohol, tobacco, and firearms for those non-US readers) is reacting. If we are going to run the largest security state in the history of the world, it may as well be put to good use.
I have no doubt that the media will be howling about this all day and through the weekend. What amazes me is how the US media is pushing the anti-gun meme so hard. When you think about who owns the media and pulls the strings it starts to make sense.
If this were about saving lives or safety, they would be pushing to ban cars and cell phones. This is not about safety. This is about power! You would have to have several “Sandy Hooks” a month to rack up the body counts of cars and I don’t seem to recall hearing anything about “common sense car control”, or “why does anyone need a SUV?”.
The elites have to be thinking about the massive numbers of firearms in the hands of civilians. I keep hearing this bullshit about “common sense” gun control. The only gun control I recognize is having the correct body position, natural point of aim, cadence breathing and trigger control to allow a person to put lead on target with less than a 4 MOA deviation.
The elites know that they can’t take everything from the rest of us as long as we are armed. They are now pushing hard to regulate guns away so that they can take what is left. The system has been rigged against the average Joe for many years and slowly over time we have been robbed by the banking cartel.
Fuck them! I won’t give any of my firearms up and I will encourage others to fight hard to keep this civil right. I recently rejoined the NRA after telling them to eat shit and die 10 years ago after they pulled the bullshit in trying to stop Heller from taking his case forward to the SCOTUS.
I think the leftist’s next move will be to go after the ammunition. A gun with no ammo is just a nice steel club.
Unlike Kunstler, I did vote for Trump and I don’t like the guy. He is rude, crude and has the emotional intelligence of a 5 year old throwing a tantrum over a parent having the audacity of telling him “no”. The whole father daughter thing between him and Ivanka creeps me out. I did however have no other options because HRC is dangerous and should never be trusted with anything important.
The 2016 election gives me a bit of hope that unlike our banking system, our political system has not been completely corrupted. I hope they get lots of convictions for people using their official positions to sabotage the election. I also want to see HRC and Loretta Lynch receive a fair trial. I don’t mean fair to them. I mean fair to us. There are too many people that would never convict based solely on political reasons.
I suspect that since the last election turned out so badly for them it was the last true election we will ever have. I can’t see them making the same mistake again.
I totally agree. Trump winning reminded me of the story of the tortoise and the hare. The Dems were so busy patting themselves on the back Trump slipped thru. Your right It was the last true election we will ever have.
You don’t need to ban guns. You can however institute policy like using fingerprint control tech on firearms. So, an adult would need to unlock a firearm for under 18 year olds. Kids are doing these shootings, not adults.
I think you’d start to see a shift towards mass attacks with knives and cars then. I don’t know what the reaction would turn into about that, but it wouldn’t be focused on guns.
So, if the US is experiencing one school attack a week, when does that cross from an “act of random violence” into a bigger phenomenon? It’s interesting that the media does not present these attacks as anything but random, as if they are now just a “act of God” category. The deaths could have been caused by a flood or fire. This is much, much more complicated then just guns. Boys aged 15-17 are attacking schools– the place where they are supposed to be getting prepared to be functioning members of a society. So, if they are attacking this center of preparation– maybe what they are really saying with these attacks is that they are not only rejecting American society, but that’s worth an armed struggle against that society.
I don’t know. Just a thought. Maybe it’s all bullshit, and the real reason is that some little shithead is pissed cuz he wasn’t able to play his Xbox 4 the night before.
When militaries and police start using expensive unproven battery operated trigger systems, then it will be a realistic option. You can’t force civilian gun owners to be R&D testers for a product no one else will use.

I don’t think you are the only one. Ironically, The left is to blame for this – the “resistance” die has been cast. In NY, the “SAFE” act came with a registration requirement for semi-auto firearms. After a FOI request and a two year lawsuit, the state was forced to release compliance data. It seems that only an estimated 4% complied. It seems like an awful lot of people in one of the North East’s most liberal states have stuck up a big fat middle finger to Coumo. And this was supposed to establish his leftist bona fides for a presidential run . Sorta reminds me of the old 60’s meme “what if they had a war and nobody came”. Now it’s “What if they made a law and everybody ignored it”.

As of now, the current count is 8 to 10 dead, mostly students. In my world, when a bunch of kids get murdered, that’s newsworthy. I understand it happens a lot in the USA, but still.
What I’m trying, and failing, to understand is how this becomes an occasion for blaming the media, when it should prompt an all-hands-on-deck effort to root out this sickness from American society once and for all.
Sorry but it is a deep rooted and multi-faceted societal problem long in the making, but without a workable solution. Our American society as well as it’s “leadership” has long since lost the ability to solve problems, pretty much even the simple ones. If you cannot understand this or should you choose to not believe it, just come down here and live in it for many decades. It is not as it seems to the casual or the long distance observer.
What you’re trying and failing to understand is that the coverage these shootings get and the subsequent politization of tragedy is way out of proportion to what these events are in reality: extremely rare. They encourage other suicidal pyschos.
For you, destroying a 200+ year tradition of robust civilian gun ownership to go from 5 deaths per 100k to 1 per 100k is common sense.
For me, all you did was take a really small number and reduce it to a slightly smaller number, while taking away any realistic means for my wife and daughter to protect themselves from rape or worse.
Every nation with the kind of gun control you opine for still has shootings and massacres. 10x less perhaps. But still a very small number in either case.
Meanwhile, infants suffocate from pillows and such at a rate of 20 per 100k. I’m guessing you want to ban those as well…

It seems like you refer to the Clintonesque mainstream Democrats there, which are not “left” politically at all, but rather a grotesque form of neoliberal. Noel, this timeline is truly fnord damning. According to it, Trump has been planning to fnord steal the 2016 election since 1979.
That is only half of the story, alas. Evidence now shows that Russia was helping to pave Trump’s way to the White House before there WAS a White House. How else can a reasonable fnord person explain Catherine the Great’s attempts to mediate between the fledgling US and Great Britain?

I think it would really benefit people to get involved in creating sanity in their own families, neighborhoods and communities. That’s where it all starts. Advocating for New Urbanism in your local town is also a good start.
I am not having a lot of luck with that one. Most of the people in my small Township are of the “my way or the highway” mindset or do not give a damn about anything outside of their own little worlds. I’ll keep trying though, not many other choices out there.

I do not think that there can actually be an escape hatch on a submarine, especially one with a screen door for a main entrance. Not accepting where we are going or what they are doing is the first thing to do and keeping Faith in some higher purpose is critical IMHO. I have raised and am raising my children to see through the bullshit and to steer with a moral compass not found in the mainstream. I fight the system and even do it from within once again, though I understand that resistance is futile. Resisting, however does pay dividends for it keeps us from becoming part of the problem and I do believe that we get extra credit for doing so as well. Besides, it’s fun pissing off the opposition.
The so called media should have been broken up by Anti-Trust legislation decades ago. You can’t have an objective media, doing what it’s supposed to be doing, and offering a variety of editorial positions, if it’s virtually all owned by a few billionaires of the same ethnicity.

I remember the public resistance to that. It didn’t take much research to discover that fluoride has a deleterious effect on free testosterone. The collapse was already well under way in 2006-ish when global oil production peaked, and really reached full stride as Obama found it impractical to deliver any real Hope and Change, and instead ramped up the police state, increased warrantless surveillance, took our illegal wars to new heights, absolved and normalized the abuses of the torturers and bankers who now feed on our culture like maggots, helped the Clintons rig the primaries to shut out the possibility of a democratic election, and paved the way for the current shit show.

The “blame,” were it be truly assessed, would be more accurately assigned to those living at the turn of the 20th century or thereabouts, back when the leviathan we see now could still be resisted. But let us not talk harshly of those long dead and mostly forgotten now, for what good would it do us now anyway?
Credit where credit is due: this was the long game of our elite masters all along, realizing that theirs was a long term intergenerational con, and that the misdeeds of the fathers would only bear fruit for their sons and their sons, by which time the sheeple would have no one to accurately point the finger at regardless.

Good thing you used the sarcasm there PeteAtomic. While voting may still have some potential for making change, the reality is totally hopeless. Looking past the fact that the “choices” given are only bad and no decent humans are allowed to enter the mix anyway. Between the “Magic Line” (the line vote button for electing incumbents or whomever they want to stick there) poor voter turnout, and voter ignorance, well we are seriously screwed. I cannot count how many people I run into the day after an election, especially the Primaries, that when asked if they voted yesterday respond, “Was it yesterday”, or “Oh, no, I forgot”, or “I had to take a crap couldn’t get out”. I would love to berate them all for their serious lack of giving a shit, but I have to admit that they are all seriously over stressed, chronically overscheduled, and easily distracted. We might be a lot better off if we could manage to get decent caring leadership that could bypass the “election” process and get into office against the will of those who rule. It is a pipedream of course, nothing can be done to fix the rotted carcass. Bring in the buzzards.
Like Scratch says Doc Schmidt, I do not sling the term Sheeple as a derogatory insult, rather I utilize it underscore those with tendency to accept mistreatment by those who are “sworn” to serve them. Those who question nothing, who STUF and pay whatever price is imposed upon them. Those who say that they will be ok, but they feel sorry for their children and their grandchildren. Seems to me JHK is (conveniently?) leaving out the fact that the “Deep State” did not leak anything on their Trump investigation—even the fact that there was one—before the election, as they did with Hillary. So whose side were they on, really? If they were trying to take out the orangutan, they were pretty inept!
I think you are referring to Comey’s reopening of the Hillary case ten days before the election. That IS a great mystery! Maybe the tracking systems in the FBI were starting to discover the groundswell that led to Trump’s victory and this was just a case of CYA.
Maybe the reason no leaks occurred was that right up to the election, Hillary and her evil gang were considered such a shoe-in that the alternative was inconceivable. So why bother? Something happened ten days before the election that so thoroughly stirred the pot that everything that has happened since was initiated. I smell the New World Order.
It is hard to believe that the Mueller probe has come up empty, but it is also hard to believe that it could have something significant that would not already have leaked. This leaves the most likely next move of Mueller to consist of forcing a constitutional crisis by attempting to indict Mr. GGG. That might well be the match that lights the fireworks signalling the collapse of this kabuki theatre faux economy.

Seems to me that there are a lot of distractions and counter distractions all intended to insure that we (the people) do not focus on what is really wrong and what the consequences of income and wealth inequality, fueled by a banking cartel pumping a worthless fiat currency into an already inflated economy, might ultimately be. The corporate owned 24/7 news coverage distorts, if not outright misrepresents, facts to keep us divided and bickering over petty nonsense so no working consensus and solution can emerge. This is how modern government in the social media age rules. It works (more or less) with foreign policy, even though at great cost, so why would it not work domestically. We are being indoctrinated to the idea that our rights and privileges (and social and economic well-being) come from the all-powerful government not the other way around.
Showtime is running a pretty decent docuseries on the Trump machine, fittingly titled The Circus: Inside the Greatest Political Show on Earth. Although it focuses on Trump since he’s so unabashedly larger than life, it could just as easily be the story of the entire DC establishment in general. One can only imagine that this is what the Romans must have witnessed way back in the day, although the greatly amplified modern media megaphone certainly ramps up the decibels to ear-splitting levels in our case.
Right on brother Dumbedup, the Mega Wealthy may talk up a great deal on how much good they do for the underlings, but Trickle Down Economics are slavery for low wages. Re Amazon, Walter, there’s a distribution centre in Fife, across the Firth (estuary) of Forth from me, beside a motorway. It’s apparently the size of 14 football pitches. And, being beside a motorway, it’s obviously not near where anyone lives. And over here people who can’t afford cars mostly don’t have cars. The poor and poor-ish ones anyway – there are plenty of people in car-payment slavery over here, same as over your way – it just doesn’t go quite as far down the social scale here.
Over the Christmas period, when extra people were recruited, there were tents spotted in the woods around the Amazon base because it was too expensive for people to travel from their homes in the nearest town, fit in with shift times and live on minimum wage, so they slept in the woods – in December – to try to make it work. In 2017.
I’ve seen programmes on TV (which you’ve presumably also seen over your way) of the actual conditions inside these working hellholes. People charging around picking stuff from shelves, with a timer telling them at every moment how many seconds or minutes behind they are, with toilet visits timed and limited. And don’t even mention trying to fit in visits to your doctor if the stress of this is making you ill.
Imagine maybe a week of shifts of that, with not enough time in between to do anything realistic, interspersed with ‘sleeping’ in a tent – in December – because it’s not worth doing the shift if you get the bus home.
It’s amazing that a huge corporation like Amazon won’t provide transport for its workers. These kind of businesses should not be allowed to exist. Instead of providing them with endless subsidies these corporations should be taxed out of existence. In fact, to end such monsters from existing I would tax all corporations with a gross worth of over 1000 persons average yearly income at a rate of 100% and higher. That will quickly end the satanic distortions in both the economy and in politics we now experience. Any government that does follow such principles will enjoy ZERO trade relations. “Economies of scale” are a predation on society. They completely destroy democratic equity and thus destroy all psychological/political equity in society. Fascism makes civic life and participation in civic life not worth living and it needs to end.
I don’t know if they do ever provide any transport, akmofo (probably not), although I know that there is no worker as lowly and right-free as the casual one who’s signed up for the Christmas rush.
I think the problem is also the shift patterns, that are worked out to suit the company, not the individual, so if you’ve got a break of a couple of hours and two bus journeys to fit in it’s probably just not worth it to try to get home. Mostly these are people desperate enough to take any shifts at all that help pay for their own family’s Christmas. Or just the winter heating bills.

Did the Big Thinkers never consider how their acts erode the full faith and credit given to the public acts and judicial proceedings of American government? Does the US government, in the face of unabashed corruption and law-breaking in their attempts to fix the 2016 election, remotely deserve any kind of faith and credit?
It’s not just institutional behavior with respect to the latest election that overturns any kind of faith and credit, it’s the absurdly disproportionate weight given by the American executive and legislatures and judiciary to the interests of a handful of people over the interests of the vast majority.

I mean, how is it possible that someone face serious charges if there was no criminal intent? How is it possible that people with a long history in government, with long experience in law enforcement, that are university educated, that are trained attorneys, that have got platoons of staff and advisors at their beck and call, could possibly be expected to be conversant with the ins and outs of the law, with what is permissible and what isn’t. How can you possibly expect them to exercise good judgment and caution in the exercise of their duties? I mean, consider the rush of daily events, the pressures and exigencies of office, the many shades and shadows of grey. Sometimes there’s no choice but to cut corners, sometimes you forget where you put the paperwork, sometimes you have to back date the forms.
And besides, there is such a thing as prosecutorial discretion. I mean, justice shouldn’t be blind to the extent that it’s blind to the greater national interest. Should it? I mean, if you hound people, if you make life hell for them, if you expect too much, you won’t end up with the best and brightest in the public service. Will you?

Last Sunday, when the Media has not received yet new instructions from Hillary after the announcement of Trump Messiah and, as a result of the attack of the Jewish media on the old man Mueller, the transition of a strategic initiative in the World Wide Civil War to Trump, all three political programs focused on Trump’s upcoming talks with Kim Jong-Un, and the subject of fierce debate was security guarantees to the North Korean leader, which Mike Pompeo considers necessary for the success of the negotiations, and the supporters of the Black Project proclaim as unacceptable betrayal of the “holy” cause of the world democracy/shitocracy:
Does it mean that Kim Jong-un with the help of nuclear missiles has achieved from the US the refusal to spread democracy by overthrowing “dictatorial regimes”?

Well, they repeated one to one the arguments of the followers of President Trump’s National Security adviser Bolton against the newly appointed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who before that, together with General Dunford more or less successfully purged the CIA from the Clintonoids.
By the way, yesterday Trump disowned Bolton, saying that he was ready to give guarantees to Kim Jong-un.

The mass media serve as a system for communicating messages and symbols to the general populace. It is their function to amuse, entertain, and inform, and to inculcate individuals with the values, beliefs, and codes of behavior that will integrate them into the institutional structures of the larger society. In a world of concentrated wealth and major conflicts of class interest, to fulfill this role requires systematic propaganda.
In countries where the levers of power are in the hands of a state bureaucracy, the monopolistic control over the media, often supplemented by official censorship, makes it clear that the media serve the ends of a dominant elite. I must say that network management methods of society consist in the fact that in the USA there are media articles for “public”, “elite = new cattle” and “super elite = journalists”.
The fact is that the old cattle (deplorables) stopped believing the media and now reads conspiracy, in general, advising them to nail the old elite, or rather its part, and the old elite (before the Trump revolution) became a new cattle, that is the object of manipulating by the media, and manipulators (journalists) have become a new elite.
And the funny thing about the situation is that the worse the results for this new elite (part of the new cattle = the old elite goes to Trump’s side or finally flies off their coils) the more elite and powerful they (journalists) become.
I think it is more or less the same over here too. Peter Hitchens does not believe in wild conspiracy theories but readily accepts that conspiracies exist. He calls them ‘lunch’ where senior newspaper political correspondents treat senior politicians in return for insider stories and gossip. If all the other papers are leading with a particular story yours will have to follow.
However, consent does not need to be manufactured in my opinion (although every little helps). Media, politicians and whatever elites there are already agree in the main, no matter how scant the evidence. If you could have locked one of them into a sound-proofed, lead-lined basement at a time when nobody had yet even heard of Donald Trump, without access to outside news, and if he were released yesterday, my hunch is he would still come out hating him. It is in the air.
If American “news” organizations actually hired reporters to investigate and to report honestly the news, then given the plethora of fraud and dishonesty and all of the Clusterfuck problems in the context of hyper complexity, resource depletion, declining profits, and population overshoot, then wouldn’t there be a tidal wave deluge of horrible news?
I find it rather amazing that according to the US government’s own financial statements that US$21 trillion is literally “missing” and unaccounted for and no one seems to notice.

Guardian journalist Nick Davies had written a best-seller, Flat Earth News, about malpractice in reporting the news. Davies writes in that book,
“If the primary purpose of journalism is to tell the truth, then it follows that the primary function of journalists must be to check and reject whatever is not true.”
However, Davies also says,
“I’ve been a journalist for more than thirty years. In the year that I left university, 1974, Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward from the Washington Post forced US President Richard Nixon to resign. What an idea! That two reporters – armed with nothing more than their pens and their notebooks – could bring down the most powerful man in the world, because he was corrupt.
“I became wholly addicted to the idea of becoming a reporter – I would travel the globe, I would take a front-row seat on history unfolding and, most of all, I would change the world. I took a job as a messenger boy at the Guardian, bought a second-hand Remington typewriter. . .”
To which Webster says this:
“In this account of what drove him to become a journalist what figures most prominently is not the desire to report accurately; it is the ideal of crusading against corruption, of pitting oneself against some of the most powerful people in the world and winning, and of signalling one’s own power by transforming the world rather than simply describing it. What is striking about the account of journalism he goes on to give in the body of his book is that none of these motives, which beat in the heart of so many journalists, are explored in any detail – or in some cases at all. Instead, as has already been noted, Davies stresses that the purpose of journalism is simple; it is to tell the truth.”
Webster’s article (he died a few years ago) also contains this sentence (or rather part of sentence) which is one of the most memorable (half) sentences I have ever read:
“Having long ago come to the conclusion that we live within a collective fantasy, or a set of collective delusions, and that the news media are one of the principal means by which we maintain this fantasy-version of reality…”

That’s as likely to happen as Hillary getting indicted, but they’re going to do everything in their power to make it look as a definite possibility. The clock is ticking for what was once the paper of record.
Brennan, Clapper, et al, are not, as W once put it, “The Deciders” or they would not be thrown under the bus. They are merely protecting their turf, TV talking heads. The major decision on who gets to occupy the White House is made by more reasoned intelligences.
Horowitz has come out with his report and accuses the FBI, the DOJ of breaking the law in the Clinton investigation, or lack thereof. It is even possible that the matter could be reinvestigated with immunity grants rescinded. A fall guy is in order and McCabe is not consequential enough to fill those shoes.
Who becomes America’s sacrificial offering to the gods this time? Nixon was a good victim. He knew to leave the scene when his time was up and was in the end partially rehabilitated. Bill Clinton lacked Nixon’s dignity and he is to this day seen as a fraud, sleazy, a violator. Trump is supported by a higher power than is obvious to the DC cabal, the MSM, and he is indomitable. He will not easily be thrown into the volcano.

My wife was watching some of it on the telly this morning and came in to tell me that this preacher was amazing. He was nearly jumping out of hid skin, she reported breathlessly, and spoke about the invention of fire! That made me laugh.
Hopefully she’s too old for kids. That may be a shock as the kid may be far more Negroid in appearance than she is.

Hi Jen.
No, thus far I’ve made just one significant road trip: 575 miles over 5 days with my son-in-law. He has a 1981 Honda CSX 500 that looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. I, as mentioned awhile back, have a used Suzuki Burgman 650 with next to no miles on it.
We set out on May 1st from my home in Central NJ and took up residence at day’s end in a cheap motel, a perfectly adequate Red Roof Inn in the vicinity of Cape May, after 140 miles. We passed through the famous NJ “Pine Lands.”
We were committed to not ride our bikes after dark and not under the influence of alcohol so we “ubered” to a nice Cape May restaurant where we scarfed down an obscene quantity of crabs and shrimp.
On day 2 we rode a short distance to the terminal facilities of the Cape May – Lewes (Delaware) Ferry. The crossing takes 85 minutes. Upon debarking on the Delaware side we rode 35 miles to our motel in Ocean City, MD (a really nice summer resort destination.) Our purpose was to observe and participate in a bike rally called “Bikes to the Beach.” After two days in OC, MD we left for Havre de Grace, MD (140 miles) where my son lives with his family including my only grandchildren, boys age 6 and 5. The next morning we left early headed back to Central NJ.
I have some big trips planned beginning shortly after Memorial Day where I will be riding alone. They involve New Haven, CT, Wells, ME, Westmeath, Canada and Duluth, MN. Weather is a major consideration so my trip to Westmeath and Duluth will probably happen between mid-July and mid-August.
I hope to have some interesting tales to tell.

This latest school massacre outside Houston, don’t expect much to be made of it. I think the story will fade out pretty quick, the reason being the shooter used an ordinary pump shotgun and .38 caliber revolver to carry out his crime and not an AR15 rifle. This latest event kind of interferes with the narrative that the AR15 has a sort of mystical power over people that makes them engage in mass murder. one take away is how much reported crime has decreased. The conclusion I draw from that is that by having the world’s largest correctionally supervised population, crime is down because violent criminals are where they ought to be– in jails and prisons.
I also found it interesting that black on white crime happens higher then white on black crime. If you listen to the MSM, you would have thought that the white on black crime was out of control.

Universal basic employment (& universal basic income) are founded on chartalism, a school of thought originating in the early 20th century. UBE & UBI both tend to undercut gains in productivity. They both have widespread deleterious moral effects. Because they undercut gains in productivity, they are ultimately destroyers of wealth, but that’s cancelled by gains in productivity from automation, which shifts even more people into the category of useless eaters.
There has to be a balance with the need for social stability. More & more people are going to find themselves on the breadlines and the populace will become even more politically restive. Because the vast majority of people don’t contribute to gains in productivity in any case, why not give them money for nothing. We provide for public schools that ‘warehouse’ the youth beyond the time when they could be working, why not do the same for adults? Give them ‘pretend’ work & pay them a basic wage. This is ultimately a population issue. First, we need control of our borders.
There will be greater & greater pressure to put UBE & UBI into practice from pols like Sanders, Warren & others. UBI at least is coming. It’s not clear that it would immediately lead to hyperinflation. There’s a demographic now in place that militates against hyperinflation, namely, everyone is loaded with too much debt, foremost governments. This tends to inhibit spending. Look for a debt jubilee sometime toward the middle or end of the next decade. It will be loudly denounced & denied until the day it happens.
There is no other option in the long run, be it good for us or bad for us. You see, the question was never even Asked until now. Profit alone was the arbiter of replacing Americans with immigrants and then people with machines. Now we are at the end of the old ways and something radical must be done. People don’t like it? The lesson from Venezuela is that you should always vote. The opposition called for an electoral boycott which rarely succeeds in rendering elections illegitimate in the eyes of the world. Instead, the boycotting party usually emerged weaker and the incumbent empowered. Hence, Maduro was easily re-elected. If you want change, you must vote.

I understood your point above, you don’t need to repeat it. Not everything is measured in instant gratification. Proper institutions and proper culture to command these institutions is a long term project as it guides long term sustainability. When you change the culture of corruption, corrupt institutions will cease to exist. To change the culture of corruption you stop lending it any credibility by allowing yourself any interaction with it. When people take personal responsibility for their environment things will change. It’s really that simple.
