We need a new civil war like we need a hole in the head. But that’s just it: America has a hole in its head. It’s the place formerly known as The Center. It didn’t hold. It was the place where people of differing views could rely on each other to behave reasonably around a touchstone called the National Interest. That abandoned place is now cordoned off, a Chernobyl of the mind, where figures on each side of the political margin fear to even sojourn, let alone occupy, lest they go radioactive.

Anyway, the old parties at each side of the political transect, are melting down in equivalent fugues of delusion, rage, and impotence — as predicted here through the election year of 2016. They can’t make anything good happen in the National Interest. They can’t control the runaway rackets that they engineered in legislation, policy, and practice under the dominion of each party, by turns, going back to Lyndon B. Johnson, and so they have driven themselves and each other insane.

Trump and Hillary perfectly embodied the climactic stage of each party before their final mutual sprint to collapse. Both had more than a tinge of the psychopath. Trump is the bluff that the Republicans called on themselves, having jettisoned anything identifiable as coherent principles translatable to useful action. Hillary was an American Lady Macbeth attempting to pull off the ultimate inside job by any means necessary, her wickedness so plain to see that even the voters picked up on it. These two are the old parties’ revenge on each other, and on themselves, for decades of bad choices and bad faith.

The anti-intellectual Trump is, for the Right, the answer to the Intellectual-Yet-Idiots (IYIs) that Nassim Taleb has so ably identified as infesting the Left. It is a good guess that President Trump has not read a book since high school, and perhaps never in his entire life. But are you not amazed at how the IYIs of the Left have savaged the life-of-the-mind on campus, and out in the other precincts of culture where free inquiry once flourished? From the craven college presidents who pretend that race-segregated “safe spaces” represent “inclusiveness,” to The New York Times editors who pretend in headlines that illegal immigrants have done nothing illegal, the mendacity is awesome.

Something like this has happened before in US history and it may be cyclical. The former Princeton University professor and President, Woodrow Wilson, dragged America into the First World War, which killed over 53,000 Americans  (as many as Vietnam) in only eighteen months. He promulgated the Red Scare, a bit of hysteria not unlike the Race and Gender Phobia Accusation Fest on the Left today. Professor Wilson was also responsible for creating the Federal Reserve and all the mischief it has entailed, especially the loss of over 90 percent of the dollar’s value since 1913. Wilson, the perfect IYI of that day.

The reaction to Wilson was Warren Gamaliel Harding, the hard-drinking, card-playing Ohio Main Street boob picked in the notorious “smoke-filled room” of the 1920 GOP convention. He invoked a return to “normalcy,” which was not even a word (try normality), and was laughed at as we now laugh at Trump for his idiotic utterances such as “win bigly” (or is that big league?). Harding is also known for confessing in a letter: “I am not fit for this office and should never have been here.” Yet, in his brief term (died in office, 1923), Harding navigated the country successfully through a fierce post-World War One depression simply by not resorting to government intervention.

Something like the same dynamic returned in 1952 when General Eisenhower took over from Harry Truman and the defeated Democratic nominee Adlai Stevenson quipped, “The New Dealers have been replaced by the car dealers.” Ha! If he only knew! After all, who was on board as Ike’s Veep? None other than Tricky Dick Nixon, soon to be cast as America’s quintessential used car salesman.

Well, those were the days, and those days are over. So much has gone wrong here in the past thirty years and the game of salugi being played by the Dems and the GOP is not helping any of it. And that is why the two parties are heading toward extinction. We’re in the phase of intra-party factional conflict for now. Each party has its own preliminary civil war going on. The election of Obama era Labor Secretary and party hack, Tom Perez, as DNC chair yesterday has set the Bernie Sanders Prog troops into paroxysms of animadversion. They’re calling out all up-and-down the Twitterverse for a new party of their own. Trump faces his own mutineers on the Right, and not just the two cheerleaders for World War Three, John McCain and Lindsey Graham. Coming out of the Conservative CPAC meeting last week, just about his whole agenda was written off as (cough cough) politically impractical by the poobahs in attendance: reform-and-replacement of the Affordable Care Act, tax reform, the promised massive infrastructure-building stimulus orgy, the border wall, the trade blockages.

Anon, comes the expiration of the current debt ceiling, at around $20 trillion, in mid-March. Do you imagine that the two parties warring with each other in congress will be able to come to some resolution over that? Fuggeddabowdit. The Democrats have every incentive to let President Trump stew in this fatal brine like a Delancey Street corned beef. What it means, of course, is that the US Treasury runs out of ready cash in mid-summer and some invoices just don’t get paid, maybe even some bigly ones like social security checks and Medicare bills. Won’t that be a spectacle? That’s where Trump becomes a political quadriplegic and the voters start jumping off the dying parties like fleas off of two dead dogs.

By then, plenty of other mischief will be afoot in the world, including the fractious outcome of elections in France and the Netherlands, with the European Union spinning into its own event horizon, and currency instability like the world has never seen before. Enjoy the remaining weeks of normality.

    Good morning,

I’d like to first weigh in on a CFN thread from the weekend if I may.

That Russia thing still has merit because one of the Trump boys is on record acknowledging that the family made a significant amount of money dealing in Russia. We just don’t know which Russian oligarchs they’re involved with. The tax returns wouldn’t likely reveal any wrong doing per se, but would further diminish Trump’s brand mystique, right-sizing his true level of wealth, and providing more ammunition to lefty’s who continue to hype the election interference narrative.

See, the Russia thing is real even if you’re butt-hurt that the media keep attacking it because to Trump’s credit he at least recognized that a détente with Russia is a good idea if only for business reasons. But because Trump is wholesale inept, he couldn’t intelligently communicate this to the country, save the tinfoil-helmeted Trumpanzees who receive direct telepathic broadcast.

The deep state careerists have had Trump by the balls the whole time knowing: that he’s not as wealthy as he claims, that he isn’t the epitome of American national entrepreneurship, and that the bulk of his fortune today likely derives from globalist-minded investment schemes. The difference is that Trump doesn’t see the point of hiding oligarchy under the guise of sweeping trade pacts, but instead believes in direct oligarch-to-oligarch quid pro quo business deals.

And as for the gist of your commentary, I can’t entI rely disagree; but in a lot of ways I just don’t care about or believe The Show any more…thanks

Yeah, these days, I’m pretty much going about my business and trying to ignore social media (Trumpsteria Fest 2017) as much as possible while waiting for everything to go kablamo. Another thing you forgot to mention was that the Arctic may very well be ice-free next summer (some scientists even think it might happen this upcoming summer), and then that should make climate change enter into its next entirely lamentable phase. As someone who would rather be too cold than too hot, I truly dread this development, not to mention what it will mean for civilization’s ability to produce food for all the people we have here on the planet at this time.

  5. AKlein February 27, 2017 at 8:37 am #

Maybe we really are headed for a civil war, as JHK opines. So, in the words of our former national bard, “W”, bring it on. Am I wrong in suggesting that the sooner we get it over with, the sooner we can get on a track that makes sense, i.e. a track that comports with reality and is at least marginally sustainable? Yes, I know I shouldn’t temp fate, so maybe it’s foolhardy to suggest such a thing. That said, I can’t help but feel that the longer we wait for resolution, the worse the correction will be.

Whenever I am chastised for wanting the show to start sooner rather than later, I remind the Deniers who cannot go there that the more time that passes, the older and less able to resist us old folk will become. Right now I can put up a damned fair fight, no doubt. Ten years from now, I cannot be so sure. The longer they put us off, the less of us that are man enough to stand up to them there will be. Time is on their side. The Demonic cannot be rushed as they do not keep time themselves.

      • chuckyzfr1 February 27, 2017 at 10:33 am #

        Hey Walter,
Your post made me chuckle; I’ve uttered that sentiment many times in the past few years – if there’s going to be a revolution it had better hurry up or I too will be too damned old to do much!

      • thwack February 27, 2017 at 11:15 am #

Well if you are doing it correctly, you should be gaining in wisdom MORE than what you are losing in physical strength?

        • Walter B February 27, 2017 at 12:32 pm #

Indeed we have gained much more wisdom, some of it from watching thieves at work. We who have gained such wisdom are well aware that it is foolish to allow thieves and criminals to be placed in positions of authority where they can feed off of the very people they are sworn to protect. Now that this has been allowed to happen, there will come a day when they will sell us all out, big time for that is what thieves and criminals do. If you are suggesting that we just sit here and let them do what they will do and STFU and take it, perhaps you are right, it might be our only option. I would like, however, to be able to choose to make a fuss instead should I choose to and having that option will depend upon whether they have waited long enough to spring their trap.

I really don’t think you would like the consequences of a civil war. There would probably not be any “correction” as you suggest; just prolonged misery in a cold and barren world.

    • Janos Skorenzy February 27, 2017 at 1:20 pm #

White South America may be the model. In Chile, the Left tore itself apart as the moderates condemned violence by the Black Bloc – and then were accused of being frauds and sell outs. Just like here, people would show up and have a reasonable demonstration and then the Masked Ones would show up and hijack it. Over time, people lost all interest since they simply could not control them and they were answerable to no one – at least no one known.

If the Left does not tear itself apart, then the result may be like Argentina. We will crush them. Bad? Savage? Ah, but image the savagery and the death toll if these madmen are allowed to win. No, friend Klein (who says the cowboys and farmers can’t be friends? It’s the sheep men who are the enemy), make no mistake. We are the Good Guys. The Far, Far Right, so far Right that it is Left, the Third Way, the Synthesis of Thesis and Anti-Thesis, the High Middle, the Exalted Center, the Apex of the Triangle.

  6. lsjogren February 27, 2017 at 8:39 am #

Hadn’t heard progressives referred to as IYIs before.

I tend to use the acronym OIP. Otherwise Intelligent Progressives. People on the left who are intelligent and productive citizens in their daily lives but become blithering idiots when the topic turns to politics.

    • AKlein February 27, 2017 at 8:48 am #

Lsogren, I get your point except for one major issue; that the OIP are “intelligent and productive citizens in their daily lives.” Really? Productive at doing what? Handling administrivia? Stuff we call “work” but efforts that are generally as useless as tits on a bull. From what I have seen, most of the so-called Trumpsters (i.e. non-progressives) are those who actually DO things we actually need. By this, who are these non-progressives? Plumbers, electricians, craftsmen, truckers, farmers, etc. Hmmm.

      • cbeard February 27, 2017 at 9:24 am #

I agree, AKlein. Most of the white collar types have no idea what real work is. Administrative stuff may sometimes need to be done. But don’t call it work.

        • Janos Skorenzy February 27, 2017 at 1:23 pm #

And let’s face it, men in these offices change over the days, weeks, months, and years. They become soft and arrogant. They cease to be men in any real sense. And most importantly, they come to hate real men will all the passion of their warped being.

      • islander800 March 2, 2017 at 6:01 pm #

Yea, like we don’t have enough hatred as it is. Hate the “others” for their politics, for their race, for their religion. Let’s add in hate of the other for their socio-economic class, their employment and as I found out with one of my postings the other day, for their generation.

I happened to mention that I was a boomer, and the response I got was “I have to thank you boomers for screwing over us millennials”. Classic “condemn the whole group” thinking so contagious today. So now I know – I should keep my mouth shut as to what generation I’m from. (By the way, I’d also have second thoughts about doing one of those trendy DNA tests to determine your ethnic makeup. Nonsense and information like that could get you rounded up and killed, the way things are “devolving”.)

America seems intent on tearing itself apart for – any reason at all. Guess we’re all just too overfed and bored. People that just seem to be itching for a civil war need to read some history. The problem is, the “homeland” hasn’t been ravaged by the savagery and destruction of a war within the living memory of anybody, so it all seems like it would be one neat video game. When they’re eating rats in their freezing bombed-out basements in Cleveland or Chicago, they may have second thoughts, but of course, by then it’ll be way too late.

    JHK,

I think you’re being slightly generous to both sides when you note that voters picked up on Trump’s bluff and Hillary’s naked rigging scam. Both sides saw only what they wanted to see and were willing to excuse blatant lies as long as their favored psychopath won.

Watching David Stockman interviewed by Porky Pig this weekend drives that idea home for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xgNncFHAng

Stockman, like so many other “prominent” alt-pundits now carefully frames his Trump endorsement as solely a desire to blow up the system so that real reform might occur. There’s an inexcusable morbidity with such a justification that I personally won’t overlook. It’s too late for reform. I’ve lost respect for many alt-media voices who’ve tried to cover their bullshit choices and cowardly complicity this way.

For me, the choices this election were more about making probabilistic bets on the likelihood of super power hot war or civil skirmish and/or outright Civil War. With Trump, war with Russia remains at about the same level of probability as a Hillary win, and now the potential for civil head-cracking soars. So, a lose lose to me.

Thing is, the asshole voters on either side ignore the fact that their actually nominating the youth to die first in either instance. They also fail to recognize that their own asses will be dragged to the streets kicking and screaming to forcibly render a pound of flesh when the grand reckoning finally occurs.

    • Beryl of Oyl February 27, 2017 at 10:56 am #

It was hard to get past Porky to watch the whole interview. Mr. Stockman expresses himself well, so the jabbering from the host didn’t ruin the whole thing.
I feel as if, were the camera to go lower, we would see Mr. Stockman rubbing his palms together in glee. I’d like to ask him what he finds so funny in all this. If Donald Trump falls on his face, a lot of innocent Americans are really going to get hurt. They (we) probably will anyway, and I can’t find anything to laugh about.

      • FlavianPlot February 27, 2017 at 11:16 am #

Yes, Porky annoys the hell out of me. He often has on a couple useful recurring guests, but they are careful to tell him things in ways that don’t harm his partisan sensibilities too much.

He only ever has two questions: when will all hell break loose? and when is my pot-o-gold gonna make me rich?

Stockman does articulate his ideas well, but from what little I know of him he’s one of those once initiated intellectual light-weights who were quietly shown the door and dis-allowed entry into the big country club. He got hemmed up awhile back in some sort of finance corruption scheme but got off easy somehow. I don’t pay much attention to him overall because he’s proven himself so dead wrong on important things, and he’s clearly selling just another narrow economic philosophy.

        • philm February 27, 2017 at 12:45 pm #

Stockman’s The Great Deformation was a good read ( a little wordy but thorough). His legal issues had to do with the time he was CEO at Collins & Aikman. I don’t know if I’d call the problems part of a finance corruption scheme or just an old fashioned bankruptcy. He’s one of the few willing to speak truth imo.

Absurd. Hillary was for War with Russia. Trump and his Administration have friendships and business connections with the Russians – exactly what we want. Friendship between the two Northern White Civilizations. Together we may be able to salvage something from the disaster that Capitalism and Communism have wrought – and stem the Rising Tide of Color.

      • outsider February 27, 2017 at 3:48 pm #

@ Janos -I concur. Those dumb white Americans who think that Russia is our mortal enemy are incapable of rational thought. Even if it doesn’t go nuclear, a very big IF, any war with Russia is the end of the White Man. The best and brightest were killed in the first two world wars before most could pass on their genes. Perhaps that’s why the men of Europe, the western part anyway, have become such wimps, allowing the Middle Eastern hordes to take over their countries and gang rape their women without putting up much of a fight.

Roosevelt/Wilson=Johnson/Nixon Greatest 1/2 punches in American history, both preceded by assassination, McKinley/Kennedy. That is why the office of Vice President should be abolished, as it is only a way to manipulate the system with murder. In the case of Kennedy, Ike could have come back temporarily. In McKinley’s case, you could have brought back Grover. It exists right now again. If they assassinate Trump, we get a nutcase even bigger than Trump. Pence is a disgrace, always has been.

@seawolf – That comment makes sense at first glance. But, imagine if Obama would be in line to take over again if Trump were killed or otherwise died. That might really give the Deep State extra incentive to engage in some “wet work.” OTOH, the return of Obama would be better than Pence.

Another possible solution would be for the VP to run separately and actually campaign for the job in the primaries. In my state of PA the Lt. Governor runs independently from the Governor. I never liked the nominee to have the power to pick his own running mate in the first place.

Although I grew up in the 60’s, I do remember the stealthy and ultra-smooth propaganda transition away from the ORGANIC center (liberty, economic security, and Christian virtue) and towards the SYNTHETIC center of “national interests.”

At the time, “national interest” sounded legitimate and seemed like a mere abbreviation of the organic virtues. It was during the era of Reaganomics that “national interest” began its pupation and later hatched out into the PNAC-JWO that we all see in plain view.

The “National Interest” was never intended to hold the center for the old virtues, let alone for itself. It was the Parable of the Wheat and Tares come to life.

    • routersurfer February 28, 2017 at 9:33 am #

      Christian virtue? Wow.

  12. peakfuture February 27, 2017 at 9:10 am #

What would derail this insanity, if anything?

Would re-introducing a national service element to our society (like a draft, but covering everything from a new CCC, an EMT corps, teaching in rural areas, etc.) do anything positive? Or has the possibility for such things just way to late to do anything?

Would the folks in Congress be so quick to have us go to war if their kids were on the front lines, or at least near them?

The general sense here on CFN seems to be that some sort of train wreck is upon us (it’s just a matter of when), but one way that might ameliorate the pressure of a civil war is to get people from different areas of the country, and of different backgrounds to actually work together.

    Any better ideas?

A civil war is anything but, and would not be something you’d want to live through.

    • Janos Skorenzy February 27, 2017 at 1:53 pm #

Young Blacks would prey on Whites as they do in the prison system and in the military. Whites would fight back and get called racists as they do in the prison system. The Blacks and Hispanics would fight constantly – and it would be ignored completely as it is now. Thus what you recommend is in fact the best way to Start the Civil War.

Alternatives? Peaceful separation. We are no longer a country in any real sense.

      • Janos Skorenzy February 27, 2017 at 1:55 pm #

Btw, once we have a White Republic I’d be in favor of just such programs. We’re both National Socialists – but I understand Life. You are still conflating yours with Marxist Socialism.

      • outsider February 27, 2017 at 4:27 pm #

Janos – I spent two years in the Army in the 70’s. I never had any problems with blacks, and there were a lot of them. Blacks and whites get along much better in the military than they do in civilian life.

@Peakfuture – I was in the Army when the draft ended. Pay was more than doubled to entice soldiers to stay and enlist. Bonuses were offered. That is also when the concept of citizen-soldiers ended. It became a well-paid a mercenary army. For years I’ve called the elimination of the draft the Master Stroke of the Empire. With no draft, the War Party can do pretty much anything it wants.

  13. Walter B February 27, 2017 at 9:10 am #

I watched a David Stockman interview yesterday during which he brought up the Ides of March Sword of Damocles hanging over the head of our pathetic government. They have been warning us all of the fragile nature of our Social Security System and the deposits for a long time now that so many of us old people rely on as fulfillment of the deal we had no choice but to sign onto. I was really hoping to get back the $200K they took from me over the course of my lifetime before they screwed me. Perhaps they have other plans than to live up to their part of the bargain. The current lack of ability to do anything productive that exists at the top of this American Crap Pile may very well be the perfect time to crash and burn at least this debt. After all, I doubt that the driving range of their Mart Carts will allow Granny and Grandpa Lugnutz to make the trip to DC to protest the ensuing doom. If you are going to screw somebody hard the best choice of victims are the old and the fragile, no? Could make for an interesting Harrow’s of Spring and a Country Unmade By Hand.

    • cbeard February 27, 2017 at 10:38 am #

A sure Social Security fix would be an lifting the income cap. But that makes too much sense. You may be right concerning screwing the old and fragile as an easy thing to do. But, maybe not.

      • Walter B February 27, 2017 at 4:02 pm #

When the Social Security bubble finally is burst by the thieves in DC (and Wall Street) how they do it will be a good indication as to whether they want us all to just die ASAP or whether they will allow us to whimper our way slowly into the night. If the system is simply crashed or stopped outright then they want us dead and quickly. The ensuing rumble will surely get ugly fast and there will certainly be a large number of Grannies and Grandpas either jumping off their Mart Carts into traffic or simply starving. The scum who rule DO have the option of cutting back on the payment amounts and if they do how could anyone really argue that? After all, the case can easily be made that the contract is still being honored, though the amount was subject to circumstances. This would be the kindest way they can kill the old people off, slowly through compromising their abilities to eat and/or secure medical care and drugs to keep them all upright. At some point in time we are going to have to be culled in numbers and in a big way. There are simply NOT enough young people and/or working people to pay for us all to keep on breathing and eating. The newest waves of immigrants are uneducated, unskilled, unemployed and living in poverty and on social programs themselves. Surely there cannot be enough coming into the coffers to support us all, especially once the printing presses stop functioning.

        • outsider February 27, 2017 at 4:34 pm #

Walter – And all of that is before you throw in the multi-billions wasted on our cancerous Warfare/Orwellian security state.

          • Walter B February 27, 2017 at 9:51 pm #

Oh absolutely! It is a grim picture to be sure. Our host has written much on the application of too much magic and I for one have always applauded his insight. While he may doubt (and rightly so IMHO) that it was all some demented conspiracy, the actual conspiracy that is in play today is that those who rule conspire amongst themselves to continue to rule. Their Prime Directive is to retain power and thusly control. Their Second priority is to line their pockets with as much wealth and assets as possible while the getting is good. The third and final commitment that they make is to do their best to pass the good shit on to the own spawn and keep the serfs where they belong, out of the competition! Time is short however for the End Game is upon us. How it will play out and when remain the only unanswered questions. Should be interesting.

      • sharonsj February 27, 2017 at 6:02 pm #

I may be too arthritic to throw a Molotov Cocktail, but the old and fragile are still armed. I’ll have to clean those rifles, though. P.S. I don’t want a Civil War. I want a revolution…the French kind.

      • routersurfer February 28, 2017 at 9:38 am #

A quick and just fix would be to end the cap. We will only get that and Medicare for all by massive violence. Time for the race and gender games to end. What’s for dinner? The rich.

    • Ishabaka February 27, 2017 at 4:02 pm #

I think a lot of folks don’t realize Social Security already has broken it’s contract – viz – raising the full retirement age for 65 to 70, and re-jiggering the inflation index so that the cost of living increases recipients get are substantially less than their actual costs of living.

Speaking of Mart Carts – a new phenomenon I’m observing just this year is young, healthy folks using them – not morbidly obese, and with no physical handicaps. Interesting trend.

      • Walter B February 27, 2017 at 4:42 pm #

Indeed, I have seen many younger folks that are so huge that is difficult to see the cart underneath them. They must be strongly made to handle such loads. Is it not ironic that those that are so desperately in need of burning off calories are expending absolutely none in the procurement process of buying additional calories? Something has gone terribly wrong. I do not believe that this plan was thought out properly…

    • DA March 3, 2017 at 7:55 am #

I was really hoping to get back the $200K they took from me over the course of my lifetime before they screwed me.

Surely you’re not naive enough to believe that they’d refund your principal too? That would cut into the “savings” for cutting the program in the first place. Rest assured, some greedy MF(s) already has their eyes on that.

Ah yes those halcyon days of yore. Let’s pick 1965 to 1995 for fun. In 1965 the first combat troops are introduced to Viet Nam (just what were those advisors doing for the previous 10 years?) To add a fitting topping to the period NAFTA took force in 1995. Yes definitly a period of time when the center was looking out for the national interests.

Good Morning Jim……..You have some facts wrong and that is WWI combat deaths were not 200,000 but 53,000 as we got into the war late as Vietnam combat total was 58,000 deaths a tad more than WWI. ……I see the Democratic party going insane but have not seen anything but growing support by Republicans except for the few Stallworth hard line war mongers like McCain who like many leftist just hate President Trump. I’m apolitical and a political party atheist but see Trump in 5 weeks doing a top job. Trump said it that he inherited a mess and we know that Obama gave us about 10 trillion more national debt, turned Bush’s 3 wars into 7, lied 28 times about keep your doctor and your plan tried to pass TPP. I could go on but we got a mess not created by a new President who is working to clean it up and we have a wave of leftist who just hate Trump because they were wrong and he’s proving it

My memory says 58,000 Vietnam, 38,000 Korea, 120,000 WW1, 480,000 WW2, 600,000 Civil War, 5,000 Revolutionary War. It’s that last one that really shocked me. The British didn’t fight for us at all. They had a few skirmishes. That was the legendary War for Independence.

Couldn’t stop laughing through the tears with this morning’s missive.

“President Trump stewing in a fatal brine like a Delancey Street corned beef.” (Thanks to the fine folks at AIPAC and Goldman Sachs)

A game of “salugi” that is being played by the yuge trans-national corporations with their enormous stock valuations, cash hoards, CEO renumeration, combined with the screwing of the American lumpen and our former “National Interest.” Nothing beats a great game of salugi with four players and one rube.

We don’t have just one hole in the head either – we have multiple test trephine holes and we continue to search for the grey matter that contain logic, compassion or at least a spoonful of sense, using a Japanese made Makita 20V drill and a titanium 1/4″ bit. “Drill baby drill” is the mantra.

Let’s hope the head gets further pressured, and in sore need of relief, by the election of Geert WIlders in the Netherlands, and a win by Marine LePen in France. Then the ” tete” might even explode. Take cover.

Something like this has happened before in US history you say and then you rhyme us with the Woodrow Wilson era. Some mention of the The Commitee on Public Information or (CPI) is in order.

American’s not wanting to go to war had to be convinced the ‘huns’ were out to rape an pillage the heartland in a highly effective campaign of disinformation and lies. Now once again our chains are being yanked and the country to hate today is Russia. The people to hate is anyone who speaks Arabic or Farsi.

The big difference being that WW was on board with the CPI of WWI but Trump in contrast is to be treated as a mushroom like the rest of us. He apparently only gets ‘My Pet Goat’ style daily intelligence briefings if the rumor mill is to be believed so he won’t play with matches and hurt all of us. He can’t press the button if he can’t find it.

I don’t know that I’d agree that we are experiencing the last few weeks of normality. Seems to me we are experiencing a three ring circus with a surplus of clowns. A good time to turn inward and get your own house in order if you have one to get in order. If not then it is a good time to move your tent to safer ground.

Thank you JHK for helping us, at least briefly, overcome our historical amnesia with some discussion of the US catastrophic involvement in WW I. That intervention started in 1917. The media have virtually ignored hundredth anniversaries of the battles that took place from 1914 to 1916. Will they ignore the soon to be 100 year anniversary of the sending of 1,000,000 American troops to France? The US intervention in the Great War prevented a negotiated settlement and assured a humiliating defeat for Germany, with the rest, as they say, being history–another World War just 21 years later.

Also, thanks for noting that a not-so-great president popularized the word “normalcy”, ignorant as he was that the correct word is normality.

good work again. What are your thoughts on Ubuntu – the contibutionism plan spelled out by MIchael Tellinger? Certainly not Dem or Rep . To me, the current system failure is a chance to look at things in a ‘knew weigh’ – to measure everything we know because the school systems have been controlled by the elite throughout everyone living’s entire lifetime.

Perhaps we can try different economic systems when we start out again as point sources of information and energy in your world made by hand. Today, it’s a whirled created by mind, drifting. In fact the cognitive dissonace rings louder than truth, at most other sites. Perhaps questioning the basic tenets of every field of study is in order.

Currently chaos rules the day … we can enjoy the maelstrom and start making tangible things that make our daily lives easier? Anyone got a one person walking combine for harvesting grain? A good oil press? A means of making pellets for animal feed?

Before we can get ahead, we have to remove some of the disinformation from our individual minds. We also have to become a point source – each one of us on our own, the entire population of Gaia as one – the two ones of the fibonacci sequence – at opposite ends of the human scale equations (ref K. Sale).

If you need a change from ordinary perspective, take a thymehowdt. It’s much better than standing alone in a corner. Namaste … doc

PS – thought game – water is sentient, Gaia is sentient – (ref Pollack, Lovelock). These are our new borders, not space and time. Now, what? enjoy!

Time to check on gold and silver prices again.

Good bargains on ammo lately, too. I hear that the little bottles of booze served on airplanes would also make good currency.

The Debt Ceiling crisis to come makes me think about hyperinflation and collapse. Thanks for wrecking my Monday, Jim!

    • chuckyzfr1 February 27, 2017 at 10:39 am #

Anyone considering salting away a little ammo would be well served to start buying now; the prices have begun dropping, and imho will continue dropping in the near term, unless something happens to disrupt the downward trend.

    • JimInFlorida February 27, 2017 at 11:19 am #

Unless gold and silver prices are defended by law and monopoly possession, they are just commodities. The ETF racket proved the vulnerability of PM’s to shenanigans.

Unless the Big Boys are demanding PM’s i.e. the Top 1% and industry, your gold and silver will only fetch what the seedy markets of coin dealers and private individuals can pay.

Unlike gold and silver, the National Debt is guaranteed by the barrel of a gun and all the lies that can be loaded into the breech! Central banks around the world are coerced into holding U.S. dollars and those dollars are backed by real assets i.e. property, dividends, and tax claims on the labor of the captive nations.

      • thwack February 27, 2017 at 12:13 pm #

AND claims on the productivity of people who aren’t even born yet,

        right?

For example, during formal slavery, the value of a 10 year old black girl was based in some part on her perceived ability to pump out several future slaves correct?

        • JimInFlorida February 27, 2017 at 4:06 pm #

Exactly. This little racket of making claims on future income is everywhere now. But, it goes far beyond that.

Thanks to Reaganomics, regulatory agencies can issue bonds on the ANTICIPATED REVENUES from fees and penalties. That is why the EPA can levy insane penalties on middle class schlubs who fill in a low-level parcel so they can build their house! That low pocket is a potential WETLAND, dontcha know? Insane daily penalties are levied and the poor White American must BEG for some kind of relief. That is when he realizes his Constitutional Rights are null and void.

The courts casually reject his appeals because his paperwork lacks the correct legalese and he must submit a new request with the correct formatting. All the while his life is on hold and the penalties pile up.

The regulatory agencies, like EPA and OSHA, don’t have to collect on what they can potentially take. They just have to shake down a few nobodies to cover the interest.

Long ago, ZOG Amerika ceased producing income to finance its existence. Instead, we generate tons of LIABILITIES and encourage a litigious free-for-all. Thus, artificially creating the need for money to cover all of that friction, conflict, and resolution. The Police State is the new economy.

Now, the higher quality assets are held outside of ZOG Amerika. We want those captive nation-states to generate real dividends and build capital value. The best way to ensure that our clients are fiscally healthy is to take the useless eaters off their hands! Voila, mass immigration of undesirables! *OR* in the case of China, a One-Child policy. The money that would have been spent on raising a new generation can be spent on building the Corporate Promised Land.

It’s brilliant! As our captive nation-states increase their value, it means they can hold more of the Devil’s Money in their central banks. That also means we can borrow it back and the captives are able to tote the note (pay the interest).

It also means our JEWISH social engineers and NGO’s have more human fodder to besiege White America with and clog it up even more. Democrats get more reliable voters and new muscle for their weapon of Identity Politics. Republicans get more wage slaves. Whites flee to better neighborhoods and must borrow more and more to get there. Banks create more mortgage-backed paper and the Fed comes through with Helicopter Money. Which is ultimately backed by those iron-chains of future claims on White Slaves and backed by the property they THINK they own.

    • BackRowHeckler February 27, 2017 at 10:41 pm #

For anyone interested in Yemen I recommend Andrew Cockburn’s September 2016 article in Harper’s titled “Acceptable Losses.”
He focuses on the humongous arms deal the Obama administration made with Saudi Arabia and the ongoing US-Saudi arrangement. All very good for the petrodollar and the Deep State. Not so very good for the poor cannon fodder who happen to live there.

With any luck the Bernie Sanders Cockburn/Counterpunch Left wing will discover the Ron Paul Right wing and somehow wake up the idiots who still believe in the blue and red rackets.

Good read this am, Jim. I too am dismayed at the continued polarization of our society, and accompanying paralysis of any meaningful action or progress towards correcting any of the plethora of ills we currently face. I vacillate between optimism and pessimism. Optimism that ‘something’ will happen that shakes us out of our trance, and pessimism that we continue as we have been doing, in an attempt to create a world outlined in the movie “Idiocracy.”….

Lie with dogs, wake with fleas says Mike Whitney: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/46527.htm

His recent take on media attacks against the new administration is that just before exiting office, Obama in collusion with deep state operatives enacted an inter-agency intelligence sharing policy pertaining to intercepted communications between Trump’s campaign and Russia, in a speculated attempt by Obama to set up a soft-coup later against Trump.

It’s an intriguing spin, but I wonder if the attempt is to actually get rid of Trump or just simply exert extra leverage so he behaves. At this point, since Trump has already signaled his adherence to the broader deep state agenda —antagonization toward Russia, China, Iran, renewed proxy war in Syria, and etc. — I sincerely doubt he’s under threat of impeachment. He’s playing their game, so why interrupt his term? Let him keep waging an empty battle against the legacy media. It’s great for ratings, and it keeps the partisans distracted and fighting. Although lefty voters are pissed off, there’s absolutely nothing they can do about it through congress.

Trump is useful right where he is, more of a headache to impeach and risk rousing his base, which CAN exert some power through congress. His core cabinet are all highly knowledgeable and skilled deep-state careerists capable of managing up; meaning, Trump doesn’t have to do any heavy lifting foreign policy wise, they tell Trump what’s what now, and Trump can stick to marketing a few basic national initiatives that will thinly appease a subset of voter interests while still bending them over the barrel.

The latest fear-mongering narrative sold to us by the alt-media is that the phony debt-ceiling standoff, which ends up the same every year, will finally collapse the system. Bullshit!

The national debt will explode again and Trump stays his full term.

Key words: “smoking guns that hasn’t yet been produced…”
We may still be in the early innings on this one. It’s easy to discount the alt-media chatter as possible disinformation bait for the easily persuaded but it is not so easy to discount the language in the Wikileaks emails. Weiner’s laptop has curiously disappeared from the stage, and maybe — just maybe — it too was disinformation but it may contain the mother of all smoking guns (there was chatter at the time that Weiner had a folder named “Insurance”).

At some point the US will have to get over its fascination and deep awe of anyone who went to Harberd or worked at Goldman Sachs. Of course rolled into one you have for your approval the chief architect of the insane Twilight Zone episode that we are now living in.

How about someone who went to welding school or one of the Polytechnics. At least they can build something rather than move pixels around a screen.

Again, I think the 2 choices that were up for executive are a shining example of constitutional weakness of the American system; the failing domination of government run by and for 2 major parties who are hard boiled in corruption that run up to (as WikiLeaks pointed out) the very top. It’ll take some major catastrophe for the wheels to come off politically for people to work for viable alternatives. Sadly this time, neither Stein or Johnson were competent or charismatic enough to inspire voters.

  29. PeteAtomic February 27, 2017 at 11:57 am #

On a civil war: I think the more identity politics is pushed into forefront, where people view themselves as nationalities & ethnicities that are important to them then being identified as American– it is a possibility. The histories of other poly-ethnic states can be very informative. I remember Yugoslavia in the 90s. People couldn’t fathom Sarajevo becoming an urban meat grinder it became, but it did. So these things are real & are very possible. Another civil war in the US would possibly be one of the worse human & political disasters since 426 AD (with the passing of the Western Roman Empire). Particularly with all the modern ordinance available to people now.

  30. volodya February 27, 2017 at 12:02 pm #

A hole in the head, yes, but this one has nothing to do with an absence in the Center, this is one that manifests itself as a long-running dementia in American foreign policy regardless of the Party in power, such that if you don’t have outright blundering incompetence, you have a disturbing, indecisive, neither-here-nor-there-ness that masquerades as nuance and wears the mantle of great learning and wisdom.

Obama was a frequent practitioner of the latter, a man who spoke in complete paragraphs, who no doubt thought in complete chapters, who could marshal soaring rhetoric seemingly at will, who had a serviceable singing voice and who could break into renditions of Amazing Grace to the great delight of his church-going listeners.

The problems with this were three-fold 1) not much of it had anything to do with the real world, 2) all the abstractions and intellectual posturing lulled people into thinking that SAYING something was the same thing as DOING something 3) in the end, the tools at the disposal of the US government are money and weapons, both of which are exceedingly blunt instruments of limited effectiveness no matter the eloquence and mind of the man in the Oval Office.

Putin gives us a counter-example in Syria and so illustrates the American derangement. Putin’s aim is uncomplicated, to keep the Assad government in power, to do it via the simplest, least-cost method. So he sent a few dozen Russian bombers to drop bombs on Assad’s enemies.

Mission accomplished? No, not nearly, the Assad government may still live but it needs military help from the outside. Plus Putin entangled himself with two treacherous, murderous regimes, the Iranian and the Syrian, not to mention Hassan Nasrallah’s outfit. Also, Putin is mightily annoying another dangerous country, Turkey, whose leader and military are not renowned for their squeamishness.

In the longer term will Putin succeed in Syria? I doubt it. But Putin has more of a chance than Obama’s pointless to-ing and fro-ing and drawing of ludicrous red-lines and looking for non-existent Islamic “moderates” to fight Assad’s boys.

Is there a way out for Putin? Sure, pack up and go home. As a consequence, would the Assad regime collapse? Probably. Would it mean embarrassment for Putin? Maybe, but it likely wouldn’t spell his end. Compared to the U.S. sojourn in the Middle East, Russia’s is inexpensive. So far that is. What Putin has to do, which he so far hasn’t shown any sign of doing, is to limit his losses.

See, what’s going on in the Middle East has been going on for 1,400 years, the conflict between Sunni and Shia. And something else that’s been going on for thousands more before that, head-butting between local powers.

Can outsiders move the needle? Maybe, a little, but it would have to be with high velocity projectiles. In that part of the world, talk is for sissies, compromise for weaklings.

So now Trump is supposedly going to bomb the crap out of ISIS. Won’t happen. Too simple, too simplistic. The U.S. military has the best military minds on the planet, who (like Obama), think in great complexity. Like with Obama, and the American foreign policy establishment in general, the problem is translating thought into action. Fix things with a ball-peen hammer like the Russians? No chance, if the solution isn’t high-tech, if it doesn’t involve endless diplomacy and war and exorbitant expense, it doesn’t happen.

No the U.S. doesn’t do things cheap or simple. Never has, never will. Americans would rather burn decades and kill millions and blow trillions and lose.

“The U.S. military has the best military minds on the planet,…”

Sez who? ( certainly not Fincal).

A more accurate statement, IMO, is “the most experienced military minds”. As in military transportation logistics (but is military transportation antiquated, especially via the high seas given the state of adversarial submarine technology?) and the realization that occupation is ultimately futile (a lesson that should have been learned in Vietnam).

Moreover, the greatest military mind cannot overcome innate structural obstacles witness the insane notion of invading/going to war with Russia. If the “greatest” American military minds thinks the U.S. can defeat Russia on their turf then I would surmise their collective minds are not in fact all that great.

For all you know, Volodya, the next Field Marshall Erwin Rommel or Kublai Khan has been practicing his chops on the deserts of China, patiently waiting and training for the chance to unveil his brilliance in real live combat.

Which points to another reality: Step into the ring enough times, especially in a cavalier, arrogant manner and eventually you will get knocked out, even by an “inferior” opponent. And once that happens, the balloon of “omnipotence” is popped for good…just ask Mike Tyson how confident he felt after lowly Buster Douglas cleaned his clock. Indeed he was never the same.

The core of the right is christians and the core of the left is secularists. Neither can understand or maybe even tolerate the morality of the other. The christian election of Trump has inflamed the left as nothing I have seen. Both sides believe the other is beyond the pale. The fight is fully joined.

    • Janos Skorenzy February 27, 2017 at 3:06 pm #

So equal and opposite? Hardly – we’ve had Christians for two thousand years. Do you think they’ve had no role in our Civilization?

The Left hates us so much that they want to import Muslim mercenaries in as allies to crush us. Now that’s crazy. They’re vicious mutants.

The Left took over the Center and never stopped fantasizing about a Fundamentalist takeover. There was never a real chance of that. But a Leftist takeover? Yes, that happened and they want it back – all the way this time and permanent. Face it, the Left is the real danger and always has been.

    • sharonsj February 27, 2017 at 6:23 pm #

Is stereotyping all you have as an argument? The core of the right is probably uber Christian and the core of the left are liberals of different religions or none. Trump was elected because (1) the uber Christians love Pence and (2) working-class folks, mostly white, were desperate for someone to either save their jobs or create jobs.

I live in a rural area and know the folks who elected Trump. They don’t tolerate anyone who is different or thinks differently, and they assume everyone is Christian. They are also poorer, less educated, and racist. To top it off, if you want a municipal job out here, you’ve got to be white and Republican.

I do agree that both sides believe the other is beyond the pale. And there’s going to be one hell of a fight.

Skorenzy is a waste of time. He is always here aggravating people.

The thing I find most interesting about Christian acts like voting for Trump is that it is self defeating. Their rolls will shrink after this just as they did after the ‘Moral Majority’. The morally undecided will see the outcome of Trump and act accordingly.

And, talking with Christians about morality is almost always a mistake. Their minds are generally closed and they most often attack you personally. They are slowly going away which after their Trump vote appears to be for the best.

Janos Skorenzy is the chlorine in the CFN swimming pool. I am honored to help when I can.

The hypocrisy and dysfunction of contemporary Jewdeo-Xtianity is due to Zionist encroachment into the Protestant churches and the crypto-Jews who crept into the gullible Roman Churches. Vatican II being the siege engine for them.

Nobody has seen a healthy mass Christianity in at least a century. Christianity survived part-way into the 20th century on pure habit and cultural momentum. The MIND of a healthy mass Christianity is long forgotten. Which is why today’s Jewdeo-Xtians MIGHT react solely on instinctive reaction to evil but, are unable to articulate it. Thus, they come across in an embarrassing fashion.

The Moral Majority’s failure was to link Christian virtue with capitalism and the neo-cohens.

      • Janos Skorenzy March 1, 2017 at 4:26 am #

Lots of different kinds of people voted for Trump – including agnostics, free thinkers, women (in vast numbers) and a fair number of the better minorities. Big Tent. Stop stereotyping. But yes, He is the Law and Order Candidate. The Candidate if America is to have a future. And of course the only candidate for any sane White person to vote for.

We are as we always have been, though less aware as Jim said. The Left are mutant bugs who have to be dealt with. And what bugs think doesn’t matter. Keith Ellison? Really? The nutcase from Idaho who vowed to shut Whites up? Both you people and Jeb Bush Republicans told Whites to go fuck themselves. But the joke’s on you.

Recently I was out on a job site carving a newel post. I was annoyed the entire time I did the job because I had to twist and convolute myself into the most uncomfortable positions in order to negotiate grain changes. A real thinking architect/builder would have had the sense to have the post carved in shop and then installed. But I digress.

I was also annoyed because everyone around me spoke Spanish (or as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad hilariously put it, “Mexican”). All day long I was subjected to Mexican music and that yelp that Mexican singers engage in, a sort of proud aural signature no doubt the equivalent of a Bull Elk mating call:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Xhy7127u8w\

Don’t get me wrong, these weren’t mean, malicious, scumbag gang types, but jeezus, the incessant chattering and singing in Spanish had me pulling my hair out when all was said and done. And how unbelievably corny, Mexican construction workers singing American oldies such as Dion “The Wanderer” in unison.

They were happy and I was the Grinch, thinking about Democrat Dick Lamm in retrospect (Trump was hardly the first to voice this sentiment):

    http://michellemalkin.com/2008/02/09/i-have-a-plan-to-destroy-america-by-richard-d-lamm/

At any rate, I’ll take all this immigration crackdown talk a lot more serious when Juan, Miguel, and Rafael are replaced by John, Mike and Ralph on American roof tops being reshingled. Until then, it’s all street theater and window dressing to my eyes.

      • Buck Stud February 27, 2017 at 3:32 pm #

No Puff the Magic Dragon but Creedence Clearwater Revival is very big among Mexicans.

I’m not so sure about the deportation thing. Too many vested business interests in this country have grown accustomed to and economically rely on cheaper labor (I say cheaper, because longer term Mexican construction businesses inevitably raise their rates). Is there a push/will for a national and mandatory “employment verification” system yet?

The real irony is all the American small business owners such as the roofing/masonry contractor who voted Trump and yet still employ illegal labor.

As I tried to intimate, these weren’t bad people on this job site but I was culturally isolated. Bizarre, in other words. Having said that, many of the sons and daughters of Mexican immigrants do NOT like me because of my ethnicity and they don’t hide their disdain. For example, I was walking by a basketball court in a park one day and some Mexican youth made a point of voicing their dislike of white people just so my ears could hear it. This was a park that only a few years ago free from the influx of immigrants and not nearly so littered with discarded trash that could have just as easily been respectfully placed in a lined trash can available for use.

I’m certain that if there hadn’t been egregious voter fraud, DJT would’ve won the popular vote as well. HRC only would’ve won the few Liberal states (Calif, NY, etc.). America in general is sick of its government, its politicians, the justice system, and its financial system. Sick of the corruption and incompetence. Sick of Socialism. DJT was the only way to go and so they went that way. Hope that an outlier might improve conditions somehow. Of course he may to some degree, yet, this system and government is rotten to the core and must die and fade away for there ever to be a chance of evolving to a form of government that improves its population, conditions and the world around it.

“It’s a Small World, after all! It’s a Small World, after all! It’s a Small World, after all! It’s a Small, Small World….”

“Well, Trump announced his first budget proposal this morning.

And just as we expected, he’s seeking a massive $54 billion increase in defense spending this year. That’s nearly a 10% increase over existing levels.

“This budget will be a public-safety and national-security budget,” Trump announced this morning. He said a “historic increase in defense spending” was essential to “start winning wars again.” The big players like Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Boeing should do well in this environment. But the real gains will come from the smaller defense contractors developing promising new technologies.

This is where the true investment opportunities lie…

On the outskirts of Washington you’ll find an endless string of shiny office buildings. Every one of them has defense contractors. Here you’ll find the smallest, most nimble, forward-leaning, cutting-edge defense technology contractors. You’ve never heard of 90% of these companies, many of which are public.

These small firms will benefit most from the new wave of defense spending. They’ll either expand or be bought out by the big guys. A huge defense contractor like Northrop Grumman, for example, might buy out a small, bleeding-edge tech firm in order to acquire their new tech and outcompete, say, Boeing.

So whether it’s finding a new public company with great growth prospects or one that will probably be bought out by a major, the opportunities are endless…”

Always jumping the gun JHK. First off no matter how absurd the Federal debt is the financial world hungers for more Treasury paper. Now it’s probable the GOP congress won’t give them much more and not right away but the demand, while it has been falling incrementally for 4 years, is still there and strong. If congress can be cajoled into letting the Treasury borrow a lot more the financial world would be ecstatic.

One thing oddly not on the radar is the somewhat probable move by the GOP and the White House to simply ignore the ceiling. not by having the Treasury issue more paper but by simply having the White House decide which bills to pay. The downsides are a constitutional crisis but Trump doesn’t need any stinking constitution or courts to tell him what it means. Then too is that absent the 3% of GDP that deficit spending amounts to then GDP will decline in some similar amount, with delay. Can you say recession.

Ah, but in the meantime with no Treasury paper to absorb the financial market will be forced to bid up other Treasury bonds and other bonds because there is a shortage and presto, a revisit of last summers record low interest rates. With enough left over to keep stocks humming.

I would not look for real problems until fall. It’s always the fall. Heck, it might not be until the fall of 18.

The short-fingered (“grab them by the pussy”) vulgarian has no authority to increase the defense budget or spend money on a wall…

Congress must approve the suggested budget but with neither the Republicans nor the Democrats in a big spending mood, it is doubtful anything 45 proposes will happen. Republicans are against 45’s budget proposal:

“Congressional Republicans on Monday panned Donald Trump’s call to finance a military buildup by slashing domestic agencies and ignoring entitlement programs — undermining the president’s budget even before it’s been finalized. The consternation spanned the party’s ranks just one day before Trump addresses Congress for his first time Tuesday evening: House GOP fiscal hawks said it was ludicrous to think they’d pass a budget that did not address ballooning costs in Medicare and Social Security, the main drivers of the national debt. Pragmatic-minded GOP appropriators scratched their heads over where Trump would siphon off $54 billion in domestic cuts. And GOP defense hawks said the Pentagon budget boost doesn’t go nearly far enough.”

The song “Bang bang” amazingly suits Ukraine

The appearance of the “African” state in the East of Europe will not seem so surprising when we recall the actual history of the Northern Black Sea until its annexation by Russia. In XIV-XV centuries, the area was for Europe same as later became Africa – the main source of slaves. In the first half of the XV century, up to 90% of all slaves sold in Europe were from the Black Sea, and to Guinea Europeans switched only after the Turks blocked the Straits.

But in the second half of the century, the proportion of natives from the Black Sea on European slave markets reached 25%.

In general, the slave trade in the region has stopped only after Russia annexed Crimea (I mean the first annexation in 1783).

Ukraine was Africa before the arrival of the Russians, it became Africa after the Russians left. And it will be Africa, until return to Russia. Because no other ties with European civilization, in addition to Russian culture and the Russian State Ukrainians do not have.

But when they’ll join with Russia, only God knows. Ukrainians can only pray that this happens as soon as possible. African war can be quite long and extremely violent. It seems inferno in Ukraine is just beginning.

And if you think that I write it all with malice, you are mistaken. (My family comes from Ukraine). When I see what is happening in Ukraine, my heart bleeds. Because I could never consider neither the country nor its people alien to us. For me, the Ukrainians are the Russians who had a catastrophe.

Bang-bang will be heard over the Ukraine for a long time. For now only sounded the first chords of the song. It is time for girls in white wreaths to start learning the words.

If WW3 almost sparked off, it was because Putin was trying to play chess with an Armed Idiot that barely grasps rock-paper-scissors. He should have moved quickly and not dawdled around to give ZOG-NATO time to react. Putin needs to get rid of that pro-Brussels Euro-weenie, Dmitry Medvedev.

What Putin COULD have done was loudly point out that IF Russia had sparked a color revolution in Mexico, and installed a pro-Moscow government, that Washington would surely have invaded! Putin should have held up all the evidence proving that Washington caused the coup d’etat in Kiev, overthrown the legitimate President, Viktor Yanukovych, and installed our various puppets,

Putin could have peeled away eastern Ukraine by responding to the popular demand of the Russians in that part of the country. Washington was bluffing and would have nothing to say if the eastern third of Ukraine seceded and joined Russia.

VX gas on a rag, applied in an international airport, is pretty unique. That’s what happened to Young Kim’s brother.

And yesterday 5 high ranking security officers were stood up in a field and atomized with anti aircraft shells.

Previously Young Kim fed his uncle, an Army General, to hungry dogs. But not even that can top the way he broke up with his girlfriend a few years ago: invited her, her friend, and their families to his office … then machine gunning the lot of them.

The real irony is all the American small business owners such as the roofing/masonry contractor who voted Trump and yet still employ illegal labor.

    *************************

Thats not irony, thats hypocrisy; but since when has that mattered to a racist?–Thack

Not necessarily, although some may indeed be hypocrites. For instance, what small business owner is going to be the first to abandon/eschew illegal labor and put their company at a competitive disadvantage? Especially with so much uncertainty about how the dynamics of immigration policy will ultimately play out?

If the same old, same old remains in place beyond the publicized deportations, it would be foolish and for a small business owner to up their labor costs while competitors still use illegal labor.

It’s a “Mexican Standoff” of sorts and many of these business owners who voted Trump but still employ illegal labor are between a rock and hard place and are not necessarily hypocrites.

Another irony is that government intervention is the best hope of defusing the situation and creating a level playing field in terms of eliminating illegal immigrant wages in the form of a national ’employee verification’ system. But of course, some real hypocrites might indeed oppose that option.

“what small business owner is going to be the first to abandon/eschew illegal labor and put their company at a competitive disadvantage?” –Buck Stud

So it is an economic decision the way you paint it.

What immigrant is going to stay unemployed and starve, putting themselves at a competitive disadvantage, when they can cross a border, find or create work, support their families, and pay taxes to their new host country?

Buck Stud, when it comes to employers you frame it as an economic decision to break the law. The employers are not arrested and imprisoned for their ongoing illegal acts.

Why then is the same not true for the immigrant? Most immigrants are hard working, law abiding, church going, tax paying. Years ago they crossed a border (some as infants) or they overstayed a visa. Yet the focus is on their “illegality” … not on their economic decision to better their lives, feed and educate their children, etc.

The “illegality” of the immigrant’s single border infraction (administrative violation, not a criminal act) should be ignored, just as the constant, abundant, ongoing illegal acts of employers have been ignored, no matter how many illegal acts employers commit.

Hiring undocumented workers is a criminal act. Employers can be held liable not only for actual knowledge of a worker’s undocumented status, but also for “constructive knowledge” — that is, basically, for having reason to know.

Crossing a border is not a criminal act. The act of being present in the United States in violation of the immigration laws is not, standing alone, a crime. Undocumented presence alone is not a violation of federal criminal law.

  58. janet February 28, 2017 at 3:17 am #

Crossing the border is a civil offense, not a criminal act.

“Any alien who is apprehended while entering (or attempting to enter) the United States at a time or place other than as designated by immigration officers shall be subject to a civil penalty of—
    (1) at least $50 and not more than $250 for each such entry (or attempted entry)” — 8 U.S. Code § 1325 – Improper entry by alien

The great Bob Dylan on the immigrant:

    I pity the poor immigrant
Who wishes he would’ve stayed home
Who uses all his power to do evil
But in the end is always left so alone
That man whom with his fingers cheats
And who lies with every breath
    Who passionately hates his life
    And likewise, fears his death

    I pity the poor immigrant
Whose strength is spent in vain
    Whose heaven is like ironsides
    Whose tears are like rain
Who eats but is not satisfied
Who hears but does not see
Who falls in love with wealth itself
And turns his back on me

    I pity the poor immigrant
    Who tramples through the mud
Who fills his mouth with laughing
And who builds his town with blood
Whose visions in the final end
    Must shatter like the glass
    I pity the poor immigrant
When his gladness comes to pass

Of course the US debt ceiling is an artificial problem. The real problem is US current trade deficit. If Trump will be able to eliminate current trade deficit with the countries that are outside of the American zone of responsibility – mostly in the energy import area – he’ll be able to renegotiate/restructure the old accumulated “debt”.

A good hint how that “restructuring” might go is the anti-Saudi 911 law – Justice Against State Sponsors of Terrorism bill, known as JASTA.

Twenty-six years ago, one of the most brutal massacres in the history of the warfare took place in Iraq on the highway 80, about 32 km west of Kuwait City. In the night from 26 to 27 February 1991, thousands of Iraqi soldiers and civilians retreated to Baghdad, after a truce was declared, when US President George W. Bush ordered his forces to destroy the retreating Iraqi army.

Coalition fighters swooped on an unarmed convoy and vehicles, destroying their front and rear of the column thus blocking the movement and the possibility of evacuation.

    Alexander Brodsky: Culture Wars
    https://www.facebook.com/alexander.brodsky.9/posts/10207340277256332

The first press conference of Donald Trump as President-elect held on January 11 has shown unequivocally that resistance to his attempts to make America great again will be fierce and long-standing.

What’s even worse, it will take the form of a culture war – the ugliest of civil wars. Meryl Streep didn’t know what she was doing when she attacked Donald Trump for his God-given artistic abilities manifested by his body-language and his uncontrollable instinct to “show” a man what he is thinking about. But this can be attributed to the primitive jealousy of an actress who suddenly sees remarkable artistic talent in the least expected person.

But the outcry of the Anti-Defamation League that President-elect Donald Trump trivialized the Holocaust by comparing the present-day intelligence agencies in the U.S. to “Nazi Germany” opened a Pandora‘s Box that cannot be closed by attributing it to human error.

First thing that comes to mind after reading this outcry is that ADL didn’t consider the Putin-Hitler analogy expressed and politically weaponized by Secretary Clinton to be “trivializing the Holocaust”.

On the contrary, Abraham H. Foxman National Director of the Anti-Defamation League stood behind these accusations without thinking twice that his actions insult the nation that contributed most to the defeat of Nazi Germany and stopping the Holocaust.

By invoking “trivializing” argument against Trump to protect the intelligence agencies, he inevitably stirred up cultural differences or even hard feelings between American and Russian Jews in US, who grew up watching the most significant masterpiece of Russian television — “The Seventeen Moments of Spring”.

This film featured Operation Sunrise – the secret negotiations between CIA creator Allen Dulles and the commander of Waffen-SS, General Wolf, that took place in Switzerland March 8-22, 1945. General Wolf, represented in Bern Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler and these negotiations took place without FDR’s knowledge.

When the truth was revealed to FDR by Joseph Stalin’s letter March 22 he didn’t believed it, but March 29 he received rock solid proof that Allen Dulles was plotting a separate peace with Himmler and even Hitler behind his back and suffered a massive cerebral hemorrhage, which led to his death several days later.

This alone makes the comments of President-elect Trump something to be treated with appropriate respect, while the attempt of the Anti-Defamation League to protect the CIA from the President of the Unites States actually does trivialize the Holocaust

Who here is familiar with “The Real ID Act?”

It was/is a federal program that was forced on the states, whom then forced it on their citizens.

You may remember it was past after 9-11 and one of its provisions required all persons with a drivers license to provide DMV with “proof of legal residence” in the form of an “originating document.”

    Birth certificate, passport, naturalization papers…

The way they ran the program was very sneaky. When you went in to conduct some type of transaction at DMV, the clerk would casually mention “you need to bring in proof of legal residence”; they wouldn’t deny your transaction, but they would make that statement and hand you a piece of paper outlining a list of acceptable “originating documents.”

    Now,

what they did NOT tell you, was you had two weeks to return with one of these documents or your license was suspended WITHOUT WARNING.

The reason I know this is because its exactly what happened to me.

Two weeks later I get pulled over (I was working in a white neighborhood in DC and someone thought I looked suspicious) and the cop tells me my license is suspended.

Next day I go to DMV and learn yeah, those fuck heads suspended my license and told me I would need to show an “originating document” to get it reinstated.

See, the confusion was based on the fact they didn’t want to tell you, “hey nigger, you hafta prove TO US you are a U.S citizen; they knew it was bullshit because they themselves made me do that when they first issued me my first drivers license.

To make matters worse, you couldn’t use just any old copy of your birth certificate; they required the original, or a certified copy from the registrar in the county of your birth. It took me over 90 days and two letters to get mine and it was a big fucking deal too trying to prove who the fuck I was to some OTHER nigger in ANOTHER state?

I had to get a white person to help me?

    Help me do what?

Help me prove who the fuck I was?

Later, more and more white people started running into this problem so the Washington ComPost did a story on it; and the best quote was from some old white man, an 80 year old veteran who said: “y’all didn’t need proof of my legal residence when you sent me to Korea?”

An instructive anecdote, but sadly, no-doubt entirely true Thwack, as a similar situation with the real ID protocol at the DMV happened to me.

The bastards-in -charge and their minions in the bureaucracy can make the formerly simplest activity into a Kafkaesque nightmare – all racism free: citizens are invited (compelled) to participate. Similar to the TSA line at the airport or seaport. However any illegal alien can saunter across the border and demand EBT cards, a BMW, condo in Malibu all with proper identity documents because Jerry Brown cares.

I also appreciate, and second, your in-advance sentiments directed towards Janet.Asoka/WPA/Carol…and the response we all know is on the way. Perhaps it will prove prophylactic. (Doubt it.)

Weiner’s laptop has curiously disappeared from the stage, and maybe — just maybe — it too was disinformation but it may contain the mother of all smoking guns (there was chatter at the time that Weiner had a folder named “Insurance”). — Billy H.

Agreed, Bill; however, I thought Anthony and Huma shared that laptop, and that it was her “insurance” folder in question. It’s a lost cause though. The full truth will never come out.

Those 650k emails surely were the death knell in HRC’s campaign. Cathy Fitts asserts that this is when the deep state factions opted to select Trump into the presidency; her idea is that the markets started trading a Trump win just after Comey sent the warning letter to congress. Comey’s hand was forced with those emails, as the NYPD also had access and thus leverage of their own. NYPD and Guiliani are still tight, no? There it is. The deal was made to bury the laptop if the Clinton’s quietly forfeit and shut down the foundation, as so my personal tinfoil conspiracy goes.

Even a couple of Trump shoe shiners I know personally clued into the not as impressive as made out to be outcome of a 304 vote electoral total (compared against previous ‘big wins’) and the surreality of Trump’s surprise upset given the wide disparity in voter preference evident in the popular vote total. http://www.270towin.com/2016_Election/

Shuffle a few votes here and there in the right states and it really doesn’t take much to make Trump look
like what he isn’t — a capable president given a confident mandate by the majority of people.

The bigger story is about covering the tracks of the Clinton foundation’s shady dealings, which would have exposed many of the elitist rich and powerful; after all, there are many other similarly ran global foundations out there. Why spoil the most successful business model the Kakistocracy ever devised just for Hill/Billy Clinton?

Thank goodness for the deep state network that Trump is likely an unrepentant Lolita-luvin’ pervert too, with video or pics tucked away somewhere. He’ll finish his four years, maybe eight, then start some sort of MAGAmedia conglomerate and foundation of his own, if the country doesn’t burn before then.

It is not by chance it all began in Syria

Putin in September 2013, sent the fleet to the Mediterranean Sea and warned that the start of the bombing of Syria by Americans will be disastrous. But American journalists then were different and perfectly understood that we are talking about the war, possibly nuclear, but Senator McCain in this interview gave assurances that Russia will not dare to attack the West, even if the West to bomb Assad, as it bombed Gaddafi. From the ensuing discussion, it turns out that the day before McCain flushed himself out with the head of Al-Qaeda in Syria, and that Ted Cruz said then that the United States in case of a bombing of Assad would become Al-Qaeda Air Force.

And these questions were asked of McCain on 10 September 2013, and the next day, September 11 was held a vote in Congress authorizing the bombing. Barack Obama on September 9 refused to give such authorization in spite of the pressure and the fact that all the necessary powers for that he had.

And so that the congressmen would vote correctly, Hillary Clinton organized a march of a million Muslims to the Washington, DC, protesting discrimination against Muslims in the US and demanding as compensation to bomb Assad professing wrong in their view version of Islam.

But Ted Cruz (Bush?) And Obama secretly organized a million bikers march on Washington in memory of the victims of 11 September, and the march of million Muslims, and together with it the vote in the Congress did not take place.

And the moment when McCain is giving this interview a lot of bikers are assembling in Fort Tryon, which was a collection point for motorcyclists traveling on Washington.

I haven’t considered PizzaGate with the single-minded focus of Malty, but I agree with the latter bit of your remark, if only it were strictly an American-limited cabal that we’re dealing with. The Network definitely involves various members from throughout the world. But let’s focus on the U.S. kakistocracy.

“I am pretty sure that the hard evidence collected by the FBI (and being collected as we speak) was used to partially stop Dem Party Voter Fraud Machine during the November’s elections and are being used now for some back-room negotiations.” — FITM

This feels like more of a selectively posited distractionary statement rather than a credible POV.

Comey’s FBI, for instance, has been instrumental in taking down (or preserving) the Clinton crime legacy, and he recently proved he still serves the deep state by taking out Flynn, who dared deviate from the approved script with regard to a Russian détente. Opposed to being a wholehearted attack on a fully onboard Trump, Flynn’s ousting was more likely due to the fact that he had fallen out of favor in other unknowable ways ( who knows, maybe he killed a hooker and tossed her out of a plane or something awhile back), as strategic foreign policy has NOT shifted discernibly from Obama to Trump.

Trump is in fact doubling down on deep state initiatives (Troops in Syria), and he not so subtly telegraphed he would do exactly this well before he was elected. Thing is, his Muslim-hating brainwashees will laud him for it.

Otherwise, the Drumpf administration demonstrates nothing in the way of genuine autonomy in governance representing the American voter, and rather he provides just the barest symbolism for a phony nation-restorative agenda that was in the works anyhow. He’s barely seeming to appease his minority constituency, taking full advantage of the super majority in government one side of the American-based cabal now holds, but as that red meat gets sliced thinner and thinner, I wonder how long duped voters will keep shining his shoes?

As JHK sez, enough voters in the right states. It seems that the losing side is taking the stance that Trump won via Republican trickery, or a diabolic convolution or perversion of electoral rules, and that such an outcome is unjust, undemocratic and could never have been intended nor envisioned by the rule-makers.

But no, Trump won pure and simple, by the rules, rules that have been in place for generations. The Clinton campaign seemingly didn’t understand that you can’t just win the popular vote, that given the federal nature of the United States, you have to win by political constituency.

And implicitly, given the continent-sized breadth and the relative ease that such a continent-sized Union can be broken up (with dreadful results, as per the 1860s) a presidential candidate has to win the GEOGRAPHY.

But no, the Democrats couldn’t get their heads around it. Or maybe they could, but thought it beneath their dignity as High Intellectuals to campaign in rust-belt America. More likely the latter. Hillary after all presented herself as the scourge of the working-class. Never mind campaign among them, Hillary wouldn’t piss on them if they were on fire.

    • FincaInTheMountains February 28, 2017 at 11:19 am #

Yes, you’re correct, Hillary suffered a disastrous defeat. It wasn’t even close. Hard to believe that the Democrats did this to themselves, putting up a worse candidate than the can’t-win Republican nominee and thereby losing a can’t-lose election. Yet they did.

As to the Witch getting excited and putting in millions more votes, I’ll leave that part to you.

  68. volodya February 28, 2017 at 11:12 am #

And let’s not have any more idiocy about Russian interference as if that invalidates the results. The Russians and the Soviets before them have been forever mucking around in U.S. politics, as have the Chinese and especially the Israelis. And the U.S. meddles all the bloody time in other countries’ elections and politics so enough with the almighty posturing.

And besides, Assange sez it wasn’t the Russians. He should know, no? Less public people, who say they know, say it was an inside leak in the DNC.

So now they say it was the votes of a few tens of thousands of less educated voters in less populous, impoverished, de-industrialized states that gave Trump the win. “Less educated” meaning stupid and ignorant so as to invalidate the result.

And they want special prosecutors and congressional investigations to delegitimize this election, to build the case that Trump should never have won. Why? So as to prepare the groundwork for an eventual overthrow, to desensitize public opinion to the spectacle of a president being forcibly removed, to make it look and sound like such a dethroning is not only necessary but lawful.

But what they’re preparing is a coup. There gonna be a lot of pious brow-furrowing and handwringing, expressions of regret that it had to come down to this. And wait for exhortations from Democrat leaders to their bubble-landers constituency to keep their jubilation under wraps out of – cough – “respect” for the sensibilities of people who don’t share their views.

They’ll dress it up with a lot of legalistic and institutional flim-flam, they’ll try to avoid a shoot-em-up, but what the party elites of BOTH parties and Oligarchs and their apparatchiks in the Deep State want is Trump gone. And no matter all the ornamentation, what they’re preparing is a coup.

Can they pull it off? I give it 50-50. What they don’t want is an actual president looking to the interests of the fly-over working class. Not even rhetorically. A marginal politician ok, somebody on the fringes, let’s say someone like Bernie Sanders, but nobody with actual power.

The Democrats should face facts, seeing as they’re all about facts and evidence. This loss wasn’t a one-off. They’ve been losing across the board for a long time now, in the House, the Senate, in state legislatures and governorships. They put up an execrable and corrupt presidential nominee, they screwed up the campaign and lost. By the rules, no less.

Buck, when I said that the U.S. has the best military minds I was being sarcastic.

Having said that, so far they have been following the lead of civilian authority. Now, you can make a valid guess that it was in part the military, or a cabal within the military, that got rid of the two Kennedys for their perceived failures and inadequacies and sheer effrontery in aspiring to power. My point is that incompetence runs deep and wide in both the civilian sphere, especially in foreign policy, and in the war-making leadership. It’s not a figment of the imagination, just look at the series of disasters they’ve inflicted, as you say, in Vietnam but also in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Libya.

Yesterday, when I crapped on Obama for his inability to come to courses of action that combine a grasp of the real-world and simplicity of approach with clarity of goals and vision, you have the counter-example of Obama’s decision making in Libya. Here it was Putin-esque in simplicity in unleashing the bombers. And he came up with a patina of legitimacy by going at it with a “coalition” of national forces.

But where was the grasp of the real-world? The result was again disastrous. Yeah, Khadaffy is gone, but now you have a terrorist infested ulcer on the African coast bleeding refugees into the Mediterranean. Incompetence again, not necessarily by the military, but by Obama and his buffoons in the State Department who clearly don’t know their brief. And who can forget the Benghazi fiasco?

    • FincaInTheMountains February 28, 2017 at 11:48 am #

Here it was Putin-esque in simplicity in unleashing the bombers. And he came up with a patina of legitimacy by going at it with a “coalition” of national forces.

According to International Law that I believe is still on the books, the Nation could apply military force in two cases: 1. By the decision of UN Security Council 2. By the invitation of the legitimate (recognised by UN) government of the State in question.

How could any Coalition of national forces could provide legitimacy? Is it like a lynching mob Democracy?

      • volodya February 28, 2017 at 11:58 am #

I said a “patina” of legitimacy. What real difference does it make if the UN is involved? The UN is nothing more than a ludicrous talking shop of gangsters and butchers. Does any of their bureaucratic machination or vote-taking or spouting of resolutions or imposition of sanctions make for legitimacy? Are any of the rules or votes or sanctions taken seriously? Or are they there to be subverted as a matter of course?

In the world outside the national borders of a few countries that take rule of law and due process seriously, there’s no “law”, especially when you get down to warfare, and to talk of legitimacy, ie conformity to laws and rules, is fantasy.

        • FincaInTheMountains February 28, 2017 at 12:58 pm #

What real difference does it make if the UN is involved?

Just that are we playing by some rules or it’s the Law of the Jungle?

          • volodya February 28, 2017 at 1:18 pm #

It’s the law of the jungle. There’s some countries that take rule of law seriously within their own borders and that have coherent legal principles.

But there are other countries that have no such thing, with no independent and impartial judiciary and whose “laws” are whatever the killer in charge sez they are.

And, in the international sand-box, forget it, might makes right. For example, who do you think will win the maritime dispute between China and its neighbors? China is fortifying islands without asking permission from anybody and with no consideration of what some international or maritime court rules on the matter.

And the U.S. and all the other countries in the vicinity can’t stop China. China has the military might and the Chinese know that in this case, possession is ten tenths of the law.

The Commons, public space, and public services, exist to serve the General Welfare. Social benefits CANNOT be priced by the markets. They are dividends of a healthy nation-state and are meant for the LEGITIMATE citizens i.e. the demographics of 1960 America.

Why all these 3rd World immigrants?
The ZOG Matrix is heavily invested in those countries. The only way to ensure that they turn a good dividend is if they are not burdened with so many useless eaters. The ZOG Matrix uproots and sends them to the White countries. They get put on our welfare system and that improves the financial performance of those 3rd World countries.

Sweden is determined to commit suicide, which means they have forfeited their right to be a sovereign nation-state. Putin should put Ukraine on the shelf and concentrate on saving Sweden from the cucks, quislings, and Muslims.

  75. volodya February 28, 2017 at 1:56 pm #

OK, Finca, tell me, why do you think that Putin blew Chechnya to shit? Why did he carve off a piece of Georgia, the Crimean peninsula and parts of the Ukraine? Because he could, because he had the military force to pull it off. And because he knew that nobody outside those borders, meaning no western power, had the will to stop him. IOW Law of the Jungle.

    • JimInFlorida February 28, 2017 at 8:18 pm #

The Crimean peninsula properly BELONGS to Russia! It was Khrushchev’s ill-conceived idea to cede it to Ukraine as an administrative convenience for Moscow. Putin was only taking back what should have NOT been ceded in the first place.

Georgia ATTACKED South Ossetia FIRST because Washington GOADED that flaky idiot, Mikheil Saakashvili, into invading! Russia did the right thing by kicking them out.

Putin SHOULD peel off the eastern Oblasts in Ukraine but, hasn’t done so. At best, he’s provided half-hearted support to the pro-Russian separatists.

The Jew media HATES Putin, which is the reason you developed such an erroneous view of things over there.

      • volodya March 1, 2017 at 12:10 pm #

Nonetheless, maybe handing over the Crimea was a mistake. The fact is that Putin had the military to pull it off regardless of who owned what bit of land or when it was owned or who hit who first.

As far as why Putin hasn’t yet peeled off a piece of the Ukraine, you know what they say, if he does it, then the movie’s over. You want to bet that Putin’s calculation is that it’s still to his political advantage to keep the fighting going?

“Seems like there is callous disregard for American citizens” –George Webb

Yes, Black Lives Matter is making that point about disregard for American Black lives.

HRC is gone. Now it falls on 45 to do something about callous disregard for American life. He said he was going to make America great again. How’s he doing, malthuss?

Every time you post a video like this it is an indictment of 45… because HRC is gone.

      • JimInFlorida February 28, 2017 at 8:31 pm #

HRC is still causing trouble via proxies i.e. NGO’s. The MSM is keeping her out of sight and off the radar on purpose.

President Trump is having problems for the same reason that Nicolas Maduro can’t get Venezuela under control. SABOTAGE by quislings and constant AGITATION by CIA-backed factions.

It’s the same idea if you’re sick and can’t get well because somebody is constantly trying to poison you, adulterate your food, and cause physical harm. NO GOVERNMENT can get anything done with such interference.

  77. janet February 28, 2017 at 3:20 pm #

45 can’t cook the books. The federal government isn’t a private family corporation, and 45 almost certainly can’t turn it into one. He can’t preemptively sue congressional committees to keep the real numbers away from them. Most likely 45 will install pliable people atop the agencies that keep track of the figures, including the Office of Management and Budget, the Department of Labor and elsewhere.

But the budget is too vast, and the machinery that keeps track of it too complex, for 45 to get away with cooking the numbers. (Let’s be honest: It didn’t really work in Atlantic City, either.) That means the budgets 45 proposes, both the “skinny” first one and the fatter second one, will need to add up ? and they’ll show big deficits. The Daddy State is expensive.

The coup bugaboo against Trump is a whole bunch o’ nuthin’ designed to keep the invalid consumer constantly fretting about whether or not their side is gonna get the better of the other in the pop-culture discourse.

Time will pass and impeachment will never come; empty threats from partisan pols will bear little fruit either. Except for a few heated riots and racial slayings now and then, the LE drags onward and downward. The American folk are still way too fat, happy, bewildered to muster any sort of genuine practical opposition against their elected enslavers. Time may change that. For now it’s all good. As I perceive it, the Trump administration has already normalized in the collective mentality and also at the governance level, despite mostly impotent protesting here and there. The shriek-o-meter, however, never stops.

As to the spilled milk meme I’m guilty of perpetuating: not having a dog in the fight, I can only believe what I directly observed the last six months of the election season. I tuned in rather late, to be honest. To me, the story is parsimonious, not imaginative. The Trump candidacy was boosted along by a weird negative publicity legacy media campaign, and several key primary wins were handed to him via unbelievable margin. He is and always was a self-promoting and WILLING patsy, first set up to lose, and then made victorious by default; admittedly, this was a spectacular twist. True, Russia did not meddle in the election per the outlandish media insinuation, but bet your ass they smartly countered standard U.S. propaganda with their own, likely hacked the DNC (or tried), and welcomed soft power renegotiation when offered a chance. Simple.

And it’s just a goddamn flat fact that prominent republicans launched a counter-coup against the Clinton campaign those last weeks. Weinergate 2.0 is central to that, and we can say that they were successful. Retired CIA partisan Steve Piecenik and Giuliani are on record. No need to side-step or invoke a KellyAnne Conway alternate reality here. Trump is no people’s gladiator, just a lucky slob. Sorry if this dismisses a constituency who deserves, desperately needs a hero, but the electorate got played. But you can keep your t-shirt and red ball cap.

The establishment handled the also legitimate “Bernie Bro” pseudo-revolt with slightly different, even brutal tact. Well, hell, let’s just say they street mugged the goofy old fart, and he let ‘em do it. I don’t deny for a second that there was a genuine grassroots movement behind the two unusual candidates: a lifelong opportunistic liberal money grubber in Republican drag and a nursing home bound Socialist, Trump and Bernie tapped into valid social-anguish threads still lingering from failed/co-opted Tea Party and OWSer movements.

The difference is that momentum was purposely either stymied (in Bernie’s case) or failed to metastasize beyond particular regions (Trump’s case). Both men only superficially spoke to real middle class pain, but Bannon’s articulation codified Trump’s theme just in the nick of time. Yeah, Trump won alright, with the help of cowards who dare not openly admit they vandalized their own conscience in an attempt to egg the establishment. The ever reliable ideological zealots who paint themselves patriotic for every football game were never a question. This conduced to a measly 42-46% voting bloc which makes Trump’s win entirely unimpressive by numeric standard alone.

Even Trump knows he better not formally investigate the electoral voting process, as its intended flaws helped him this time. But that wasn’t his tune during the campaign, was it? There’s no hiding behind Trump’s hypocrisy.

I get it, my opinion is basically worth less than a penny, but I’ll continue to trust my own senses. Voters/careerists are my enemy and they will always choose the deep-dark-side if they think they can win. We’re all on our own now.

I guess Eric and Don Jr took him aside and told him if we “send them back” there’ll be no one willing to clean their hotel rooms for dirt wages, or pick the grapes in the winery.

I’m sure the game plan all along was to get elected via the racist and xenophobic dog whistles to the GOP base then do the old switcheroo later on.

We are starting to see him pull the old switcheroo on Obamacare too as he admits the issue is ‘Unbelievably Complex.’

Like howling dogs, the GOP finally caught the garbage truck and now has to chew those oh so tasty tidbits of immigration, health care, Social Security and Medicare reform.

  80. FincaInTheMountains February 28, 2017 at 8:23 pm #

OK, Finca, tell me, why do you think that Putin blew Chechnya to shit? Why did he carve off a piece of Georgia, the Crimean peninsula and parts of the Ukraine? == Volodya

First of all, why do people who do not want to go to war, go to war?

1st cause is purely animalistic: Because there are people who want to fight and kill, and the only thing that can stop them is the prospect of being killed in the next half hour, instead of ability to kill other people in the same period of time.

2nd cause is purely philosophical: There are people who believe that war is a natural state of mankind, and either you kill them (no matter who), or they kill you. Therefore, the peace is impossible in principle, and those who talk about peaceful coexistence and cooperation simply puppets on the other side, trying to prevent “their side” from preparation for war with “our side”. Well, pacifists and supporters of all that is good against all that is evil on the other side are “our useful idiots” or spies, and they should be used in full.

3rd cause is purely existential: people are fighting because the Peace that is offered by the other side is worse than war, much worse. For example if the whole world has agreed to submit to Hitler, the Second World War would not have been, but that kind of “peace” and life in subjection to Hitler to the Soviet people were much worse than the horrors of World War II. Much worse! Many times worse!

4th cause is purely Christian. The proposed Peace is an attempt to construct a Hell on Earth, which will install the Antichrist, and for the citizens of the Christian Empire refusal to fight against such a Peace amounts to a denial of its role as “restraining power” and thus rejection of Christ.

The Cold War was possible because the Soviet people, who won the Great Patriotic War, understood perfectly the Existential aspect of the war, but forgot about the Christian.

And when there was a Detente after the disastrous defeat of the US in Vietnam, too many have come to the conclusion that the Cold War was not a war, but a competition between the two socio-economic systems.

And when the Soviet system lost to its own nomenklatura, that imagined itself bourgeoisie (and indeed has become one), no one realized that this was a victory of the American bourgeoisie against the Soviet people.

One should bear in mind that the American bourgeoisie and the American people are dual in their understanding of history, because after the death of Roosevelt to power in the United States for some time, came people who frankly said that the natural ally of the US was the Hitler’s Germany, not Stalin’s USSR.

And after the victory of the American bourgeoisie the outright Nazis sneaked in to power in US, the Soviet people and many other peoples, whom USSR has broken up into, saw that the Peace after the Cold War, from the Existential point for them is not too different from the Peace proposed by Hitler.

Just the genocide of the local population has been commissioned to black realtors and other mafia whom former nomenklatura, and now the liberal bourgeoisie, with black humor called the “invisible hand of the market”, as well as the execution of Jews at Babi Yar was entrusted to local cadres, and not to German soldiers.

And only because after the experience of the Damned 90s any attempt to return to a state of “cold war” would immediately turn on the logic of the Great Patriotic War, especially since the military actions on the territory of Ukraine (or Chechnya or Georgia) may be considered as “proxy wars” only by complete idiots who think that 20 years of propaganda can erase 500 years of real history.

“Iodine-131 is the most feared fission product when released into the atmosphere after the atomic bomb explosions or an accident like Chernobyl. President Trump Full Speech to Congress put a final stamp of approval on the victory the Union of the White and Red Projects, personified by Donald Trump, over Black Project, personified by Hillary Clinton.

And I got a lot of fun watching the sour faces of Clintonoids whenever Congress awarded Trump with standing ovation, especially when the US president said that all the nations and peoples of the Earth are created by one God.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cH_231dBLGI

This part of the message was a response to Hillary Clinton’s answer on the main slogan of the Donald Trump’s campaign “Let’s make America Great Again”. This response Hillary Clinton on the second televised debate sounded like this:

“In the end, it comes down to what Donald Trump does not get: that America is great because America is good”.

At first glance, this phrase is castrated quote from Alexis de Tocqueville “America is great because it is good. If America ceases to be good, America will cease to be great. ”

The problem is that Alexis de Tocqueville never said that phrase, but it constantly pops up in the speeches of American politicians in this context, as a similar phrase is a well-known ritual password of one of the esoteric sect, a member of whom was Alexis de Tocqueville and Hillary Clinton and both George Bushes and the great Russian writer Lev Tolstoy, who wrote about it in War and Peace in connection with the problem of interaction of Greatness and Goodness on the example of Napoleon:

    – Question: “We are great because we are good?”
    – Answer: “We are good because we are great!”

    http://www.weeklystandard.com/hillary-clinton-and-the-fake-tocqueville-quotation/article/2003585

Firstly, this password is the formula of the Cold War, as Alexis de Tocqueville, not only wrote “Democracy in America”, which in the opinion of the members of this sect is the best book about democracy and about America, but also articulated in it historiosophy of “American exceptionalism” which Joseph Stalin, who received an excellent theological education, described as American heresy.

Fortunately, ideological, and possibly a theological analysis of this heresy was done by the great American film director Quentin Tarantino.

The fact that the relationship of Greatness and Goodness reflects the Manichean concept of the genetic affiliation to the Good and Greatness by virtue of birth, and not by phenotype/individual development.

According to this concept one cannot become Great and Good, they have to be born this way, and the main sign of the Greatness and Goodness is the right to kill with impunity.

Suffice it to recall the last scene in which David Karradin explains Ummah Thurman that the ability to kill is a duty to kill, because people are not only divided into two biologically different species, but also created by different Gods. And Umma Thurman when she tried to become a worker bee still remained a killer-bee, she just betrayed her biological species and has been punished for this betrayal.

It is against this quite consciously Donald Trump has spoken, saying that all people and all nations are created by one God. And the ideological legacy of Alexis de Tocqueville is the basis of so-called moral high ground of American politics, a lack of understanding and even the denial of which Donald Trump is being accused by Clintonoids.

According to this concept, the fact that the American missiles were in Turkey during Caribbean Missile crisis, and now are in Poland and Romania is not the aggression against the Soviet Union or Russia, but the Soviet missiles in Cuba are, President Kennedy by removing the missiles from Turkey, has betrayed America, Good and Great, as well as Umma Thurman betrayed her Nation of Born Killers, trying to be an ordinary woman and a mother.

For years the Hanford nuke plants dumped radioactive material into the air, ground, water…..even directly into the Columbia River where it flowed by Portland and out into the Pacific. Fish the Hanford Reach now and you still see the giant earth movers trying to staunch the radioactive flow into the dammed up, now not so mighty, Columbia. “Buck, when I said that the U.S. has the best military minds I was being sarcastic.”–Volodya

It wouldn’t surprise me if the U.S. did have the best military minds because experience is a great teacher and let’s face it, the U.S. has quite a bit of experience when it comes to war.

But best military minds is hard to quantify. For instance, the brilliant German general from the Prussian tradition might lose to the general with greater infrastructure support/industrial capacity which was probably the case in at least some WW2 instances.

Geronimo and his gang of thirty never were defeated by General Crook and his five thousand cavalry troops. But I wouldn’t say Geronimo was a better military mind as much as he was intimately familiar with the terrain. And of course the vicious pugnacity of the Apaches who would impose “tests” on their young wannabe warriors such as running ten miles over desert hills in sweltering heat with a mouthful of water which they would have to spit out of their mouth at the end of the run in order to advance up the warrior ladder. Indeed Magnus Colorado, Victorio, Cochise et al were probably more feared and reviled by Mexicans than by Americans.

As Walter declared to the “The Dude” in ” The Big Lebowski” , the North Vietnamese were a ‘righteous, worthy opponent’ and the same could be said of many brilliant military minds not supported and amplified by a superior societal backdrop.

Penalties for employing persons who cannot lawfully accept employment in the United States of America.

1-5 convictions: $10,000.00 per employee and six weeks public service.

5-10 convictions: $20,000.00 per employee and 11/30 county jail.

11-20 convictions: $50,000.00 per employee and a year at labor.

More than 20 convictions: Public Assistance for the convicted’s family, forfeiture of all assets, $50,000.00 per employee ten year at labor.

We needed new appliances for the house so I bought fridge, washing machine, dryer and dishwasher. What to do with the old stuff? round here you can’t just throw it on your front yard like they do in Maine. So I called a guy I met from when I was doing a lot of scrapping, this young guy who I’d see with his little his little boy. Sure, he’d be glad to come over. So he shows up in a battered ’94 Mazda truck that looked a lot like my old Ford Ranger. I notice a Trump sticker on the truck.

Yeah, he loved Trump. Why? Couldn’t really put his finger on it. He told me he was working 55 hours a week in a plant that homogenizes milk, deliveries Chinese food 3 nights week, and scraps about a single load per week. Life evidently is good. This guy (he lives over in the ‘ville near where you did, Ozone) was happy as a pig in shit. And it was uplifting seeing his little son try to emulate everything his dad did. We loaded all those appliances in the bay of that beat up old truck, and when he drove away I could see the Trump sticker on the stove in tale gate, receding in the distance

These are Trumps people, busy working for a living supporting their families. There’s no time to be raising hell out in the streets. It looks like the real proletariet backs Trump. The intellectual elite, tenured Marxist bullshitters, campus snowflakes, parasites of all stripes, unfulfilled middle aged women on facebook and other useless eaters and wasters of good American oxygen support something else.

We’re building a new casino here, a 3rd one, trying to counteract casinos going in in nearby Mass. The state is dependent on the revenue they produce; the welfare and public sector union payouts here are tremendous. We need the money to keep this social contract going, which says will give everybody welfare in the cities if you don’t burn down the cities. So far its holding.

Now marijuana is being legalized, also for the revenue it will produce. All we need to do now is start pimping out our daughters and we will have a perfect trifecta in vice. The new American economy.

Culturally and economically speaking, it seems like we are at the end of the road.

And to think this place was founded by God fearing, hard working Calvinists from Yorkshire England here to build a new Jerusalem.

94-year-old inventor of li-ion battery unveils solid-state battery breakthrough for fast-charging, 3x energy capacity, and more…

They have actually produced the new solid-state cells with “glass electrolytes that enable the use of an alkali-metal anode”. The materials overcome the dendrite problem that comes with fast-charging the cells. It could also enable cost reductions in mass production.

Braga said about the new electrolyte:
“The glass electrolytes allow for the substitution of low-cost sodium for lithium. Sodium is extracted from seawater that is widely available,”

They are making impressive claims about the prototype cells that they produced with this new technology. They say that it enables “at least three times as much energy density”, demonstrated “more than 1,200 cycles with low cell resistance”, and can operate “from -20 degrees Celsius to under 60 degree Celsius.”

Cheap. Plentiful. Scaleable. More technological breakthroughs to come… The Internal Combustion Engine is in its last throes.

It is impossible to explain briefly, but Donald Trump’s speech to Congress and his choice of advisers shows one thing: that the policy in relation to Russia is not his priority and advisers he appoints on the basis of their relationship to Hillary Clinton, and simply does not care about their attitude to Russia. This means that his sympathy for Mr. Putin, he repeatedly expressed with no apparent political necessity, is sincere, and it is the maximum that can be expected of the American President in the circumstances.

Also his speech to the Congress increased my confidence in the theory that initially he did not intend to participate in the election campaign, and it is Hillary to her detriment forced him to participate.

That is why he has no plan for the development of relations with Russia, and still speaks on that topic on the basis of emotions, which incidentally are shared by a very large part of his constituency that elected him president.

And Hillary Clinton is a brilliant politician and a long list of her defeats explained by the fact that she plays not against Donald Trump but a Higher Power, against which all her talents, as well as the talents of her Master are just a spit to the ground.

Trump is just a good man, in a Russian sense of the word, and that is why his primarily concern is about the welfare of his fellow citizens and his country, as befits a good man.

About Russia he simply does not care, and by saying that a good relationship with Vladimir Putin is to his benefit, he has in mind it’s good for the United States, not for Russia.

However, pretty soon he’ll realize that Putin is always thinking about the welfare and prosperity of the citizens of the USA, as precisely on him depends not only their prosperity, but also their very life, and he works tirelessly so that the US Congress would not force him to stop the first and the second with the help of nuclear submarine “Moscow” and nuclear submarine “Ryazan” that recently was also put on the combat duty.

To demonstrate how ridiculous the “alt right” is and how its fundamental purpose is to expand the definition of “white”; here is a blog by a Polish immigrant called “PA” (I guess it stands for Polish American?)

Anyway, this dude came all the way from a 99% white country, so he could live in the U.S and complain about nonwhite people.

    How retarded is that?

He speaks and reads Polish and could easily go back an live in Poland…

So why doesn’t he do it?

    This comedy writes itself.

    • Janos Skorenzy March 1, 2017 at 9:53 pm #

No, he’s White and can fit right in here. Better here than Britain because it is small and is already struggling against the Muslim hordes. Too many Poles in a White country struggling to maintain its own culture. But America is based on WHITE immigration and can handle them.

      • thwack March 1, 2017 at 10:28 pm #

What part of Poland being 99% white do you not understand?

If you lived in a 99% white country, would you move to a country with

        spics

        Jews

        Faggots

        Towel heads

        Mystery meat

        Spam

        Chinks

and every other racial mixture you could think of?

        AND

If America is based on white immigration, WTF does that make Poland based on?

Nice try Janos but your logic is full of holes. PA moved here because he needs to be able to point at me so he can claim to be white like you.

Otherwise, he would be a fat dumb Polock like he is in Poland.

What is your national origin Janos?

Are you one of the subhuman white people Hitler talked about?

And speaking of myths……..did you get a smudge on your forehead today? and what are you giving up for Lent? Anchovies?

      • Janos Skorenzy March 2, 2017 at 3:36 am #

No, Myths contain power, Q, power we are using against our enemies.

All dying peoples turn to the irrational. But We Whites of the Alt-Right are a favored generation: We do so as well – but maintain our rationality at the same time. This is Very Strange and Kek absolutely loves it. Thus We are his Chosen and he is intervening on our behalf with the High Gods to secure our survival.

When I rave about Putin being a Highlander or him and Trump being the God Brothers Castor and Pollux, I can feel Kek’s pleasure. It’s nonsense on one level but completely true on another. THIS is what Kek loves. Complete foolishness doesn’t interest him – he wants mythic truth. And if you can keep the levels discrete, know you are raving when you raving, then He will love you even more. It’s like the reverse or stiched side of a quilt: it look like crap but makes the coherent side possible.

As for your comment in detail: I have never quoted Harry Potter as far as I can recall. Anchovies? Is that some kind of symbolic attack? Do you really want to go to magical war with me? Remember Kirk Douglas in Ulysses? What gods are in your favor? None, right? What gods are in my favor? Many.

Is all this because I disagreed about the spelling of Schtick? Have you been well? I’m sorry if not. It is indeed a fearful thing to fall into the Hands of the Living God. I don’t know how atheists manage it. Towards the end Queen Elizabeth didn’t even want to sleep – too many dreams of Fire.

    MORE GOVERNMENT BUREAUCRACY

45 announced the creation of a new — and pointless — office called VOICE to highlight the crimes committed by undocumented immigrants. This drew groans and boos from some Democrats in the audience, and for good reason.

What legitimate function can such an office possibly serve, other than to stoke anti-immigrant and anti-Latino sentiments?

All kinds of people commit crimes, not just undocumented immigrants.

Immigrants, including the undocumented, are actually associated with lower levels of crime than the native-born.

Besides, we already have a federal Office for Victims of Crime, whose functions would seem to overlap with this proposed agency. MORE BUREAUCRACY.

Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov called not to take seriously the media reports according to which Russia ostensibly undermines the coasts of the United States with nuclear missiles-moles.

Earlier, the military commentator of “Komsomolskaya Pravda”, Viktor Baranez presented a paper, from which it follows that Russia allegedly undermines the coasts of the US with nuclear missiles-moles. According to the commentator, such missiles “burrow in and go to sleep awaiting the satellite signal”.

    http://www.vz.ru/news/2017/3/1/859991.html

According to earlier reports two newly renovated Russian Nuclear Submarines “Moscow” and “Ryazan” were converted under the project 09787 (Delta-IV Stretch) to be a carriers of deepwater robotized units for special purposes.

      http://en.kremlin.ru/events/president/news/13637

    • FincaInTheMountains March 2, 2017 at 6:51 am #

In this regard, we need to understand the types of nuclear attack:

      1. The first (disarming) strike is applied to places of deployment of nuclear missiles of the enemy. In addition the first blow can be applied in major cities of the enemy or for the purpose of intimidation (terror), or for the destruction of the control system.

      2. Pre-emptive strike is applied, when it becomes clear that the enemy will inevitably hit first and pre-emptive strike is the only way to stop or weaken the nuclear missile attack by the enemy.

      3. Retaliatory strike, this attack is applied when the enemy has already attacked, and several hundred of its warheads have already exploded in your area, or will inevitably explode in the near future.

President Medvedev in his ultimatum said that US actions are of such a nature that as their result, Russia may lose the ability to deal a retaliatory strike.

The article in Foreign Affairs is a hint, a message of part of the political elite of the United States to President Putin, they claim that since after the collapse of the USSR Strategic Missile Forces and the Navy quickly degrade, and some missile attack warning stations wound up in the territory under the control of NATO (Ukraine), the United States will soon have the ability to cause the first disarming strike, which Russian leaders will know only after the warheads have already exploded over the Russian missile pads and in places where Russian submarines are stationed. And the key role in this scenario was assigned to the US missile defense system, which in principle can not intercept Russian missiles after all missile volley, but it can intercept a relatively small number of missiles, survivors of the US first strike.

Thus, it is clear that the American missile defense is directed against Russia, and it is not a defensive system, but highly offensive, as it is known to be useless against Russian first or pre-emptive strike.

Putin would do better to create the ultimate assassination team, whose mission is to exterminate the ZOG-NATO billionaire class in the event Washington even tries to pull some stunt that places Russia in mortal danger.

Mutually Assured Destruction is no longer a deterrent because the ZOG-NATO billionaires genuinely believe they can ride out the aftermath. That means the deterrent MUST come down on the billionaires themselves and they MUST be the FIRST targets. If there can be such a thing as a “warning shot” perhaps it can be a dozen or more Saudi billionaires who will bear the Message Of Death to the rest.

I GUARANTEE YOU that all this talk of nuclear war will stop and the billionaires will pay, and do, whatever it takes to arrest events that would lead to WW3 AND their extermination!

Imagine the 20th century if Woodrow Wilson decided that, no, the US would NOT get involved in WW1.

And so imagine the exhausted kingdoms and countries that had spent three or four years butchering one another making a peace treaty. Imagine that the peace treaty as a deal among more or less equals and one that DIDN’T ruin Germany.

So what shape would later events have taken? Would Hitler have contended for power? Would he have found a willing audience? Would German National Socialism have taken root? What shape would fascism have taken? Would Germany and Russia have gone at it again a generation or two later?

There’s a school of thought that WW1 happened because the US, as a nascent world power, wasn’t involved enough in world affairs.
There’s another view that it was Wilson’s intervention in WW1 that set the stage for a humiliated Germany turning to Hitler.

53,000 American dead are rounding error compared to the millions of citizens of other nations that died. But it may be that the weight of fresh if inexperienced American troops turned events sufficiently against Germany and encouraged Germany’s enemies to keep fighting.

Maybe the lesson for future American presidents is when in doubt stay out.

JimIn Florida you’re an interesting poster, or at least to me. One one hand, you read like an Occupy Wall Street militant and the other, a hater of the Democratic Party/ Liberal/Jews.

At any rate, these are strange times and former ideological boundaries are becoming blurred and co-mingled (Janos wrote a rather articulate observation on ‘so far right that it becomes left’ [apologies for butchering the articulation]).

Myself, as a Hillary voter–‘she was my Queen; I was her fool!–I just can’t bring myself to loathe Trump. In fact, when he speaks I actually like the guy. As others have noted, Trump has some remarkably visceral instincts that strike a primal populist cord. For instance: ‘We need to get tough and smart on immigration’ or all policies will be to benefit Americans and America’ and not “Globalist” interests (who can argue against that logic?).

At the end of the day, the economy will tell the tale as it always does but the economy that Trump/ Bannon envision is running headlong into contradictory and ironic forces. For instance, the fast food restaurant industry whose companies are owned by and large by GOP ideological types–or at least pre GOP economic populism as espoused by Trump and Bannon–are now moving toward “robot order takers”.

Some on the right will blame demands for fifteen dollars an hour as the culprit for the shift to robot order takers but when robots are at the helm, even seven dollars an hour adds up to massive long term labor savings. In other words, humans–Americans– are dispensable in the name of advanced technological capitalism.

So how does the forces of technology align, manipulated and exploited by dog-eat-dog capitalism, with the economic populism espoused by Trump and Bannon? (And other industries will no doubt follow the fast food industry lead; in fact, they already have).

Is the worker replaced by technology now a useless eater as BRH might assert?

Personally, ‘allegiance to Nation’ and the people who comprise is probably the only answer/solution: Janos is right on that count. And yet, this would mean a forsaking/redirecting of traditional conservative economic ethos into, -gasp!- the realm of “collectivism”.

If Trump and Bannon can thread the eye of this needle I will declare them the greatest administration ever. But, to my eyes at least, the structural forces and ideological assumptions are too great and too well entrenched in a way that would require a massive “belief update” from people on all asides of the aisle.

Suffice to say, I am not hopeful.

      Robotics is the future.

Look at what technology has done to Photography and Music, in term of the business side of those 2 lines of work.

Mao only wanted to let a thousand flowers bloom.
Technology has sold us a billion digital camera phones.
      Who will pay a photographer?

DJs would buy vinyl. At least they made a contribution–they made 2.
Buying vinyl and putting bands out of work.

BUT now DJs steal 100k of songs. or 500k s worth.

There’s more than one Chernobyl of the mind, where radioactive ideologies, designed to harm the National Interest for the benefit of a few, fester and burn.

The Right marinates in its particular radioactive waste-pile which it calls Principled Conservatism. To their credit, the Right can define what Principled Conservatism is. Well, realistically, we know, because the country and much of the world has been living by its precepts for a long time so we can see for ourselves.

But what the Right CANNOT tell us is what this Principled Conservatism is actually for. Who does it help? Or, at least, they won’t tell us. It’s as if it’s meant to be a form of religious asceticism where its practitioners strive to get up before dawn, to work for low or non-existent wages, to eat an inadequate diet, to go with no medical care, to live in crumbling housing, all for the sake of upholding said Principles.

And, no matter that Trump campaigned and won as a Republican, the Right cannot abide the man’s program, his world-view, his stated objectives for governing. Why? Because they are in direct contravention of the Principles that they hold dear.

The Left, in its own Chernobyl, cultivates identity politics, finds its political niche in it, tells us most seriously that Trump is variously a proto-fascist, fascist, neo-nazi, nazi, authoritarian, police-statist, racist, xenophobe, misogynist, Islamophobe, anti-semite, anti-intellectual, and on an on. They proclaim variously to be frightened, disgusted, horrified, outraged, scandalized, offended and sickened.

Interestingly, people on both the Left AND the Right made common cause by declaring that they will oppose Trump with their last dying breath. This is fascinating all the more because the interests of these people converge.

See, Trump spent a great deal of his campaign condemning the economic decay of the US and the diminishment of the American working and middle-class. Whether he was serious about it we’ll see. But what he condemns is what we commonly call Globalism, the reconfiguring of world trade and production, ostensibly for the benefit of all but realistically for the benefit of the very few in the Oligarch class.

Where the interests of the Left and the Right converge is in a class of people above the great unwashed but below the Oligarchs who make a good living tending to Oligarch interests. And ideologists of both Left and Right are in that class.

      Well said.

Republicans and Democrats alike are influenced more by the people who contribute to their campaigns than the people who vote for them.

There are 4 very simple things we can do to fix our country.

      1) term limits;
      2) reverse (by decision or by amendment) the Citizens United case;
      3) reform campaign contributions and spending laws by placing limits on individual and corporate contributions and limit PAC spending;
      4) meaningful healthcare reform (not insurance reform) that includes medicare and medicaid cost controls and billing transparency.

Beyond that, we need fiscal and monetary reform to create stable pricing and value, and we need currency rules that rewards savers.

      • beantownbill. March 2, 2017 at 6:11 pm #

I very much agree with your post; you appear to be cognizant of some of our real issues and their solutions.

I would add a few details, if I may, to your four fixes:

One six year term for president, no re-election.
Two six year terms for the Senate – only one re-election campaign.
Two 4 year terms for the House – one re-election campaign.
Total maximum national elected political life. – 26 years (maybe 32 years if elected v.p.). Plus, passing a mental fitness test for those over 80, or those showing signs of dementia. No more doddering, sleeping, senile old people taking up space in such critical venues.

A constitutional amendment to have a balanced budget. With that in mind, gradually phase out the Fed.

Term limits for Supreme Court Justices, say 15 or 20 years. But also have non-voting positions for Justices Emeritus, so the Sepreme Court can reap the benefit of the retirees’ experience.

Drug price reform, including allowing citizens to purchase prescribed medications from foreign countries, like India or Canada, for example.

        • Dumbedup March 2, 2017 at 9:10 pm #

I agree with much of what you said.

Our state judges have to retire at age 72. Thereafter, they can serve as “acting judges” by temporary appointment in the discretion of the Chief Justice. I like the idea of lifetime appointments because I think it does remove the spectre of running for re-election and promotes an independent judiciary. But they should retire at age 72 instead of “Senior Status” for district and appellate judges and life support for Supreme Court Justices.

In my opinion, house members should only serve 1 six year term. It is the chamber of the common people and it is more important that we see more turnover. One-third would be newly elected every two years. Senators should serve 1 eight year term. One-half re-elected every 4 years. I haven’t done the math, but the problem here would be implementation. Some senators and representatives will have to volunteer to leave early.

One of the culprits (I think) of corruption is campaigning. By eliminating the “re-election” we can minimize the effect of money and influence.

I’m not sure about elected officials passing a test of mental fitness. That becomes a bit too subjective. Who will decide and what will be the criteria? Personality disorders (especially anti-social and narcissism) are hard to diagnose and clinicians often disagree.

Lets just make everything transparent. If you run for office everything is open including your tax returns and medical records. Also, legislation, including early drafts, must be posted publicly for comment.

        • JimInFlorida March 2, 2017 at 9:35 pm #

Term limits won’t fix the problem. The problem lies with the pipeline that vets and accredits the “approved” candidates that We Teh Sheep are permitted to choose from.

And, a problem even bigger than that is the cancerous distortion of the political process by the beneficiaries of Reaganomics. The Top 1%. Nothing wrong with being rich enough to be comfortable and independent but, when wealth accumulation is enough to buy political power, and special conditions that harm the body-politic, then THAT level of ill-gotten gain MUST be curtailed by a top tax rate sufficient to disarm the Top 1%.

A balanced budget would only work if we had a sound currency where debt deprives the economy of money to work with. As it is now, we can’t even pay the interest from the national income! Even THE INTEREST has to be kited! Balancing the budget is literally impossible because the credit creation has to run as fast as it can, just to keep it all from imploding.

As for political office, IMO, the 17th Amendment should be repealed and the Senators appointed by the Governor, as it used to be. Popular vote for Senators deprives the States of representation and, that also deprives the masses of representation. One Senator CANNOT respond to the cacophony of tens of millions of puny voters. Only Big Campaign Donors matter. If the Senator was nominated by the Governor, and passed by the Legislators, then the people have access to the Senator by their State reps. Better than what we’ve had for the past century.

LIfetime tenure for Supreme Court Justices SEEMED like a good idea but, it hasn’t been good in practice. I agree that a term limit would work with the SCOTUS.

Medicare For All is the solution for everything healthcare related. Fund it by removing the FICA income ceiling and then, later, levy a full 1% Wall Street Sales Tax on all securities and derivatives trading. One third to the U.S. Treasury and two-thirds distributed among the States to fund their respective Medicaid programs. Medicare-Medicaid would then use their buying power to force drug companies to lower their prices.

“But what [Trump] condemns is what we commonly call Globalism, the reconfiguring of world trade and production, ostensibly for the benefit of all but realistically for the benefit of the very few in the Oligarch class.” –volodya

volodya, if you look at the data (and you may not want to), you will find that globalization benefits more than the “Oligarch class.” The US president cannot stop globalization because it is irreversible.

Globalization has not caused the world’s multinational corporations to simply scour the globe in search of the lowest-paid laborers. There are numerous factors that enter into corporate decisions on where to source products, including the supply of skilled labor, economic and political stability, the local infrastructure, the quality of institutions, and the overall business climate. In an open global market, while jurisdictions do compete with each other to attract investment, this competition incorporates factors well beyond just the hourly wage rate.

It is well established that multinationals, on average, pay higher wages than what is standard in developing nations, and offer higher labor standards. Globalization is irreversible: In the long run, globalization is likely to be an unrelenting phenomenon.

Openness to globalization will, on its own, deliver economic growth: Integrating with the global economy is, as economists like to say, a necessary, but not sufficient, condition for economic growth. For globalization to be able to work, a country cannot be saddled with problems endemic to many developing countries, from a corrupt political class, to poor infrastructure, and macroeconomic instability.

      • Dumbedup March 2, 2017 at 9:18 pm #

Globalism arose post WWII as an offshoot of the effort to prevent WWIII. That it has been hijacked for profit should not surprise us. What invention of man has not been perverted for profit, power or influence?

The Soviet Union (USSR) believed that the way to prevent another world war (and invasion from the west) was to build a wall and divide Germany. Sound familiar?

      • Cavepainter March 3, 2017 at 7:25 am #

The global corporate culture you envision governing the world might not be the culture of choice to a people exercising its will through elected representation in a democratic republic such as ours. Such “will” honored (as obligated by oath of office) is the only hope for our nation to isolate itself from the absolute disaster of global over population — all else aside.

Neither trade nor population redistribution can remedy the consequence of over population. To the contrary, global trade is driven by the constantly inflating price of resources growing ever more scarce by due to ever rising demand of growing population — a scramble for survival.

Our chance for survival here in the US is rapidly shrinking with loss of national sovereignty as represented by the Left’s cock-eyed notions of diversity and unrestricted immigration, carrying us further beyond balance in ratio between population and resources.

    New Watergate? Not so fast!

Is the current situation similar to 1972, when the career of Hillary Clinton just started?

Then President Nixon, recognizing the US defeat in Vietnam, began a policy of détente with Russia, which was based on the SALT-1 treaty.

But the United States mastered MIRV technology (Multiple independently targetable reentry vehicle), which created the illusion of the possibility of winning a nuclear war, and the mysterious agent “Deep Throat” appeared in “Washington Post” telling the editor that Richard Nixon people were going to install eavesdropping equipment at the headquarters of the election campaign of the presidential candidate of the Democratic party George McGovern, located in a business complex “Watergate.”

This comparison to 1972 is especially important because back then, together with President Richard Nixon went into political oblivion the policy of détente, and limitation of strategic arms, and the Soyuz-Apollo program became a “Star Wars” of Ronald Reagan.

But now the attempt of second coming of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to the political Olympus is accompanied by US missile stations in Romania and Poland, followed by the transparent hints by Russia on the readiness to deal a devastating nuclear blow to that system which Hillary Clinton, apparently, promised to deflect either with some kind of a new miracle American weapon which doesn’t exist in Nature!

However, in contrast to 1972, the haste with which she now has cranked the intrigue with Russian interference into US elections, suggests that the ground is burning under her feet, and Hillary the “Great and terrible” is in a terrible hurry before it turns out that she and her friends have exaggerated a little with the powerful and notorious miracle weapon that may resembles not MIRV-technology, but rather the Space Shuttle or the “Star Wars” program.

THE PLANTS GO MARCHING ONE BY ONE

Jeff Sessions could become inmate Sessions for perjury in lying to Congress, denying he had any contact with the Russian government.

But Sessions is far from the only Trump official to be accused of improper contact with the Russian government. Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn resigned last month following reports that he spoke to the Russian ambassador about sanctions before Trump took office. Other current and former Trump staffers accused of similar ethics violations include personal lawyer Michael Cohen, former campaign chief Paul Manafort and former adviser Roger Stone.

One by one the scandals will mount because 45 is inept at both business and government. Except, in the case of government, 45’s daddy cannot bail him out of bankruptcy. False testimony is a crime. Once the investigation of 45 forces him to release his tax returns, 45 might become inmate 45. His political bankruptcy will end in impeachment, perhaps imprisonment.

Committing perjury is “a good way to go to jail,” said Richard Painter, who served as White House ethics lawyer between 2005 and 2007 and is now law professor for the University of Minnesota. Sessions committed perjury.

Christie is probably guilty but has bought off the prosecutor.

I’m not impressed by the ballyhoo about Sessions. It is a fair distinction to say he met and talked with Russian officials as a sitting Senator and Chairman of the Armed Services Committee and not as a representative of Trump’s campaign. There’s a little too much hysteria around this by the democrats. I would counsel them to pick their fights carefully. There will be some better opportunities (if there are not already) to pick fights they can win.

E Pluribus Unum does NOT mean the Jewish idea of all the world’s people being represented here.

It refers to the novel idea of a nation-state that is free of kings, elites, and the political problems of old Europe. In other words, we are (were) One Of A Kind.

The Western propaganda uses the term “Putin’s Russia”, which describes all kinds of nasty things that the Global West is going to do to Russia, but they always stipulate that Russia itself deserves nothing bad, and nasty is only “Putin’s Russia”.

This happens because most Americans do not want to see their country as an aggressor, and it is necessary to perform ritual dances, because contrary to popular belief about Nanai boys Americans love and know how to kick their elite in the ass.

But other Russia, which the global West is so fond of, exists too, and it controls Russian media, through which it tries to cram in as many Russians in order to use them for the destruction of Putin’s Russia.

After that, they themselves will be destroyed, along with that other Russia or will be used as wardens in concentration camps, and as a result there will be no Russia at all.

And I must say they were able to drive into that other Russia about 3 percent of Russians who became Liberals due to various sorry reasons, and now try to jam in another 10 percent of the “turbo-patriots” without a Tsar in their head.

By the way it began with a march on Pristina and then West was going to do nasty things to Yeltsin’s Russia, and it is not clear when the intensity of the threats was greater.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incident_at_Pristina_airport

And this is all connected with the fact that if with Putin everything was crystal clear from the very beginning, with Yeltsin West suddenly realized that he had cheated them badly, pretending to be the president-drunkard of that other Russia, which you can safely make fun of, and then destroy with the snap of your fingers.
