Worse Than Hitler

E ven the formerly august New York Times grants that Donald J. Trump has ignited a voter firestorm of grievance against a dumb show election process that rewards a craven avoidance of real issues. Immigration is actually a stand-in for the paralysis, incompetence, overreach, and bloatedness of government generally in our time — but it is a good doorway into the larger problem.

Immigration is a practical problem, with visible effects on-the-ground, easy to understand. I’m enjoying the Trump-provoked debate mostly because it is a pushback against the disgusting dishonesty of political correctness that has bogged down the educated classes in a swamp of sentimentality. For instance, Times Sunday Magazine staffer Emily Bazelon wrote a polemic last week inveighing against the use of the word “illegal” applied to people who cross the border without permission on the grounds that it “justifies their mistreatment.” One infers she means that sending them back where they came from equals mistreatment.

It’s refreshing that Trump is able to cut through this kind of tendentious crap. If that were his only role, it would be a good one, because political correctness is an intellectual disease that is making it impossible for even educated people to think — especially people who affect to be political leaders. Trump’s fellow Republicans are entertainingly trapped in their own cowardliness and it’s fun to watch them squirm.

But for me, everything else about Trump is frankly sickening, from his sneering manner of speech, to the worldview he reveals day by day, to the incoherence of his rhetoric, to the wolverine that lives on top of his head. The thought of Trump actually getting elected makes me wonder where Arthur Bremer is when we really need him.

Did any of you actually catch Trump’s performance last week at the so-called “town meeting” event in New Hampshire (really just a trumped-up pep rally)? I don’t think I miscounted that Trump told the audience he was “very smart” 23 times in the course of his remarks. If he really was smart, he would know that such tedious assertions only suggest he is deeply insecure about his own intelligence. After all, this is a man whose lifework has been putting up giant buildings that resemble bowling trophies, some of them in the service of one of the worst activities of our time, legalized gambling, which is based on the socially pernicious idea that it’s possible to get something for nothing.

I daresay that legalized gambling has had a possibly worse effect on American life the past three decades than illegal immigration. Gambling is a marginal activity for marginal people that belongs on the margins — the back rooms and back alleys. It was consigned there for decades because it was understood that it’s not healthy for the public to believe that it’s possible to get something for nothing, that it undermines perhaps the most fundamental principle of human life.

Trump’s verbal incoherence is really something to behold. He’s incapable of expressing a complete thought without venturing down a dendritic maze of digressions, often leading to an assertion of how much he is loved (another sign of insecurity). For example, when he attacked Jeb’s (no last name necessary) statement that we have to show Iraqi leaders that “we have skin in the game,” Trump invoked the “wounded warriors,” saying “I love them. They’re everywhere. They love me.” In the immortal words of Tina Turner, “what’s love got to do with it?”

Trump’s notion that he can push around world leaders such as Vladimir Putin by treating them as though they were president of the Cement Workers’ Union ought to give thoughtful people the vapors. It doesn’t seem to occur to Trump that other countries could easily get pugnacious towards us. He would have us in a world war before the inaugural parade was over.

The trouble is that it’s not inconceivable Trump could get elected. Farfetched, perhaps, but not out of the question. The USA is heading for a very rough patch of history — as those of you with your eyes on the stock indexes lately may suspect. The country stands an excellent chance of waking up some morning soon to discover it is broke and broken. When that happens, all the anxiety and animus will be focused on looking for scapegoats, and they are likely to be the wrong ones. World leaders considered Hitler a clown in the early going, too, you know. But the Germans were wild about him. He pushed a lot of the right buttons under the circumstances. Trump is worse than Hitler. And the American people, alas, are now surely a worse lot of ignorant, raging, tattooed slobs than the German people were in 1933. Be very afraid.

Kunstler, you shinny headed weasel with a stupid mustache, are you actually calling for Trump to be assassinated? And for you to insult your only audience calling them slobs in ridiculous.

You are just pissed off that there is a person out there who isn’t going to just passively give into your bizarre post-apocalyptic “Long Emergency” world where everyone goes back to living in the woods. Maybe you should go live in the woods, loser.

    Worse than Hitler, No way.

    • zaphod42 August 24, 2015 at 9:45 am #

There are more similarities than I want to believe.

    • Pogo August 24, 2015 at 10:08 am #

Hitler did actually win the Iron Cross for bravery…no small feat. And he had a demonstrated ability to take command of, and lead, a political party.

      • seawolf77 August 24, 2015 at 10:37 am #

He was also rejected by the Austrian army because he had tuberculosis. He then joined the German army. After he was seriously wounded he could have gone home. When he recovered he went back to the front. The man was fearless.

        • MisterDarling August 24, 2015 at 2:15 pm #

“After he was seriously wounded he could have gone home. When he recovered he went back to the front. The man was fearless.”-sea.

And how was he wounded? In a chemical weapon attack. Yes, the little Corporal was fearless (in a believable way) and a fin soldier. There was some actual substance to him.

Yet, the fact remains, things are nucleating around ‘The Donald’… So what does that say about American electorate? They might just be the ‘huckleberry’ he was looking for.

          😉

          • ozone August 24, 2015 at 8:28 pm #

            MD,
Or perhaps, the “Hoopleheads” he was looking for. (His loyal opposition would be the “Cocksuckers”.)
Although these distinctions are fictional for the sake of dramatic impact and artistic license, here ends the Al Swearengen comparison; I don’t believe The Donald to be half the canny schemer as the legendary Boss Pimp of Deadwood. May he melt into a puddle of his own bluff, bluster and incomparable arrogance. (An end by unacknowledged syphilis would be fitting.)

As for the addled electorate, well, I suggest they appoint Hey-Zeus de Crisco as Smiter-in-Chief and see how that works for them.

      • K-Dog August 24, 2015 at 10:54 am #

Exactly, and we are going to wait a long time for Trump to demonstrate anything like the same political leadership. People were captivated by Hitler’s oratory skills and he had a single minded dedication to his cause. Trump gets comments about his hair after he speaks, but that’s about all. It is probably a safe bet that Trump thinks more about dinner than his next political performance. More importantly Trump does not have a message that resonates beyond the expression of simple frustration. If Trump had a credible vision of a thousand-year realm in his oral wanderings perhaps there might be, in a wild dream, something to worry about. As it is his misogyny would cost him a real election if the American people, their brains washed clean by HDTV binge watching should really let him get that far. Because it just so happens, women do vote.

The role of Trump is to make Hilary look good. If you want a comparison to Hitler look to her.

Hilary and Hitler the names have a lot in common. Could it be a coincidence? Both start with the capital letter ‘H’. Both are six letters long. The letters H,I,L,R are common to each name, more than half the total letters. Two vowels in each. Could it be a coincidence? That’s for you to decide.

        • Pogo August 24, 2015 at 12:02 pm #

Interesting (tongue-in-cheek) observations, K-Dog, about the similarities of Hiliary and Hitler. The family name in the small village in Austria was actually spelled different ways: Hiedler, Huetler, and some others. And we have all heard that Alois (Adolf’s father) was actually born out of wedlock as Alois Schicklgruber and only became Hitler a decade or so before Adolph was born.

“Hitler” is a perfect, hard sounding, two syllable to make “Heil Hitler” the slogan for a nation. “Heil Schicklgruber” would not have worked at all! Hiliary, being three syllables, is problematic.

Interesting when I think about it, but most of our presidents have one or two syllable names: John, Bill, George, Ronald (Ronnie), Harry, Ike, Richard, etc.

        • Hands4u August 24, 2015 at 12:33 pm #

          Hilarious!

          • Sticks-of-TNT August 24, 2015 at 3:40 pm #

Subtle. Perhaps “Hil-lar-i-ous?” Gets the “Hill” sound we’re after.

Hitler is a last name. “Heil Clinton.” Two syllable last name. Problem solved.

History could be about to repeat itself as farce and yes, Trump is at least as dangerous as Hitler in his potential to cause great harm to America and the rest of the world. Read and understand some history.

Words do have effect. Hitler’s polemics against the Jews led to Kristallnacht and where that went afterwards. All it took was hateful radio broadcasts to incite the slaughter of a half million to a million in Rwanda. Trump’s polemics against Hispanics could have the same effect. The recent attack in New York may just be the beginning.

To think America is immune is taking “American Exceptionalism” to its logical ridiculous conclusion. To think that Rwandans or Germans were less intelligent than your typical tattooed losers and followers of Fox News is wishful thinking.

This man should be considered a clear and present danger to America and the world, just like Fox News that created this monster and now the rest of the Republican leadership wannabes. The Republicans have clearly become a domestic terrorist group. Wake up, America, and deal with it before the Right’s worst nightmare (or wet dream?) comes to pass: a war with a force of U.N. “Allies” from the rest of the civilized world committed to putting down the rabid beast, just like democracies had to do with Germany, twice, in the last century. Oh, America would never let that happen ’cause we got nukes? Yeh, right, unleashing those will create a brighter future for us all.

The wishy washy politically correct media better wake up and deal with this guy properly before its too late.

    • outsider August 24, 2015 at 1:14 pm #

I agree, K-Dog. That Hitler comment floored me. Hell, he’s no worse than the rest of the Lilliputians in the anemic GOP field. The fact that he’s not bought and paid for by AIPAC makes him better.

    • Janos Skorenzy August 24, 2015 at 2:19 pm #

Hitler was a deeply educated and dedicated man. Do you think Trump could write something the equal of Mein Kampf? Did Trump win a Purple Heart – America’s equivalent of the Iron Cross?

      • joerg.daehn August 24, 2015 at 4:38 pm #

I am German and we inherited 2 issues of “Mein Kampf”. I tried to read it once and I can assure you: it is an incoherent, meandering mess of a book. Which because of that probably nobody ever read it. Unfortunately, that is.

I quit after about 50 pages.

So much for the educated guy Hitler supposedly was.

If you understand German look for “Serdar Somuncu liest ‘Mein Kampf'” and enjoy.

        • Janos Skorenzy August 24, 2015 at 7:26 pm #

You probably think Muslims are your friends too, right? Can’t wait: 800,000 more friends coming soon.

One of the worst books ever. It was like the first time I heard the Rolling Stones live. Worst sounding band live there ever was. Mein Kampf was worse than bad, it was terrible.

      • FourFootSnake August 24, 2015 at 6:32 pm #

If Trumpton wrote something the equal of Mein Kampf they’d take him away on a trolley to the nut-farm.
I tried to get through it when a Politics student in the way back when, and died before I reached page 31. However, as a point of connection with your pal, and as an aside, for your information, I was buried in my home town which is twinned with the German town near Munich where AH was locked up, which is named Landsberg. That’s not where I’m buried, though, you see – surprise – I was only kidding about that bit. But not about the rest of it…

        • membersince September 1, 2015 at 6:45 pm #

The one thing you immediately notice about Mein Kampf is that Hitler was a WHINER (whinger for the Brits). Oh poor fucking me, nobody appreciates me, the world has always tried to submerge my genius. A serious Mama’s boy

Dow Jones is down over 1,000 points right now, as of 0834 hrs Central US time.

Listening to the wonks on the financial shows: “Why are these stocks so low?” “I gotta make some calls, because these lows don’t make any sense!” “Interest rates are low, oil prices are low, and the unemployment rate are low”, “remember, the stock market doesn’t always go up.”

It’s like listening to a group of alchemists trying to figure out why their magic formulas aren’t working.

    • Pogo August 24, 2015 at 10:21 am #

The scary thing to me what the rest of the world must be thinking. Is Trump really one of our “best and brightest”? He is an embarrassment to our Nation.

      • DrTomSchmidt August 24, 2015 at 10:44 am #

Hardly. That would be W, and Obama, the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for, y’know, being in office for 11 days. Trump has built housing for thousands of Americans. W and Obama destroyed housing for thousands of foreigners. That you consider Trump an embarrassment (and let’s face it, he IS a crony capitalist) leads one to wonder: how do you evaluate the last two clowns who “led” this country as President?

        • Pogo August 24, 2015 at 12:18 pm #

Good point, Doc. Like JHK, I voted for Obama both times and am completely disappointed. I never did understand the Peace Prize thing. “W” was complete disaster from day one. Molly Ivans tried to warn us.

          • DrTomSchmidt August 24, 2015 at 1:39 pm #

Now you understand how people might go for Trump. I agree W was the bigger disaster. In the pantheon of bad presidents, he’s in the top 5, with Wilson being clearly on top. Obama never undid any of the deep state things that W did. Maybe I’m harder on him because of the disappointment, but then I see things like ISIS blowing up Palmyra, and there’s no avoiding the fact that it’s his legacy, as is Libya.

The sad thing is that Jeb lost the Florida election in 1994, or HE would have been the Republican nominee in 2K. Iving was right.

      • outsider August 24, 2015 at 6:00 pm #

Pogo – If Trump is an embarrassment to the nation, where does that leave Lindsay Graham? Or John McCain for that matter?

    • outsider August 24, 2015 at 1:26 pm #

As long as Hillary and Jeb are the ‘entitled’ establishment options, Trump will flourish. Don’t for get that ol’ Ross Perot was leading both Clinton and Bush the Elder in the polls in ’92 when he suddenly dropped out. And Perot was crazier than The Donald.

“He would have us in a world war before the inaugural parade was over.” -JHK

I was serving in the USAF during the Cuban missile crisis when the military was placed on DEFCON 2, the highest ever at that time. Now, decades later, we know just how close the world came to experiencing a nuclear nightmare. While John Kennedy had a few personal flaws, I am thankful that he was at the helm at that time. We should all be. The very thought of Donald Trump trying to bully his way in a similar scenario is beyond frightening.

    • JMR August 24, 2015 at 10:11 am #

    • seawolf77 August 24, 2015 at 10:31 am #

Nuclear nightmare is just that: a nightmare, something that happens in your dreams. Nuclear weapons were created by bankers to give the illusion that the world was in their destructive hands and with a simple push of a button it could all end. Baloney. And the Cuban Missile Crisis was a sham to provide a reason not to seek justice in the JFK murder. MILIION OF PEOPLE ARE GONNA DIE!!!AHHH!!!! Baloney.

    Jim,

Great post today. The times, “they’re a changin'”.

Trump is moving in space created by the Republican’s 40 year firm belief that anything goes. He is unleashing a steady kick ass attack on everything this is not Trump.

It is all very funny and scary too.

The GOP is acting like the parents you see out in public with the out of control kids. They’re like, “Why is my kid acting like that?”

Why? Because you (GOP) encouraged that behavior.

Trump is actually doing a public service by making it very clear what he & the GOP stand for. He’s hardened his base of support, but amongst voters, he’s also hardened his opposition.

Meanwhile, almost on cue, Hillary’s campaign is collapsing around her in almost comic fashion. It’s amazing. She’s running the exact same campaign she ran against Obama. It’s 2007 all over again.

Hillary doesn’t have game. A politician with game can change the conversation and get people to follow. He hasn’t shown any ability to do that.

    She gone.

On top of all of this, again, on cue, the markets around the world are collapsing. The talking heads on CNBC are just jabbering on and on, trying to soothe the public without conveying one ounce of truth or facts about why this is happening.

Debt, debt, debt, lies, lies, over expansion, low/stagnant wages, inequality, lies, lies, bets on lies (hedge funds), deregulation, deregulation, lies, fakes.

You can only keep a lie going until reality steps in.

Agreed, consultant13. Hillary is a terrible campaigner and would most likely be a terrible president. After Labor Day, the GOP majority is going to hit her hard on the email scandal. Will they charge her with anything? But where is the donkey bench? Sanders is filing the void, for now. But the Dems don’t want him anymore that the R’s want Trump. So Biden, and even Gore, are warming up in the bullpen. That’s why I’m cheering for a Sanders v Trump election.

A political party with “game” can change the rules and get people to follow. Most people.

How long has South Carolina had the rule that you must endorse the parties candidate to participate in their debate. Sounds just like doubling the number of states you must carry just to keep someone you fear from participating. Mattoids.

  14. chipshot August 24, 2015 at 10:08 am #

Why is there so little coverage of the one candidate that recognizes many of our greatest problems: Bernie Sanders.

Not that polls are critical this early in the campaign, but where would Bernie be polling IF he had received half of the media attention Trump has gotten?

TPTB really don’t want Bernie to be the nominee.

Exactly. It’s interesting to see people discuss American politics as if it were anything more than a 3rd-World carnival getting whackier by the year.

There are millions of characters hidden in plain view who, when called, will rise to the fore to take Arthur Brenner’s place.

I thought it was a ferret. At least his favorite book is the bible. That’s what counts the most — and his second favorite book is The Art of the Deal. It helps that Trump is a German too, although his father Fred told his Jewish business partners and Jewish customers he was of Swedish heritage to court their approval and favor.

If he’s not a purposeful distraction, and he may well be, if he keeps it up he may not be breathing by the end of 2015 — quite literally. Remember George Wallace? Trump reminds me of Wallace in effect, and we all know what happened to Wallace.

I think you should scrub this thread of any hints of political violence. Can’t say I am all that surprised to be reading it from the left because the left runs on emotion and a feeling of moral superiority and once that delusion is punctured the next emotion standing is rage the uncontrollable emotion.

But go ahead make your allusions to that cleansing violence you day dream about that will bring back your illusions of the perfect world where your professors rule in harmony with well harmony or something.

The internet lasts forever at least while we still have power and the world won’t have to be maintained by hand.

I remember Bremer and his stunt which is what you folks are doing today, trying to egg on some emotional defective into an act of violence.

Anyway it did Nixon a favor that day and the country did not fall into ruinous violence. I honestly don’t know if that would happen today, I think factions on the Left really believe they can pull off a real violent revolution whereas in the 70s a violent left wing revolution would last about two weeks before every bubba had collected a handful of scalps.

Another factor while the 70s the left had Soviet benefactors I think of them less influential then as the Oligarchs are today, who knows how the Soros types want this to play out.

When Trump announced his candidacy, his first TV interview was with O’Reilly (naturally). When asked about Russia, Trump said that our countries should be friends and that he could work with Putin. No one else running has said that, so I wouldn’t be so quick to compare him to Hitler. With nukes on both sides, the Nuland-created travesty going on in Ukraine is far more dangerous to the world than is ISIL. In fact, Trump implied that the US and Russia should be on the same side to defeat them. What’s wrong with that?

  21. vengeur August 24, 2015 at 10:37 am #

Trump is a lot of things, but saying he is worse than Hitler is silly. And however unpleasant the current circumstances in the U.S., they are in no way comparable to the disaster of post WW1 Germany. Kunstler writes masterpieces with amazing regularity. Today’s post is not one of them.

    • DrTomSchmidt August 24, 2015 at 10:56 am #

Imagine Hitler armed with nuclear weapons. If Trump WERE Hitler or Hitleresque, he’d definitely be worse. Instead of Berlin being a giant smoking hole at the end of conflict, all of Earth would be.

Recall that Hitler ordered Paris dynamited by the retreating Germans. One German general refused to “just follow orders,” and is rightly considers a hero by them. If Adolf had the Bomb? Ugly.

      • AKlein August 24, 2015 at 1:12 pm #

Dr Schmidt, your post is a complete non sequitur. It’s as much of a non sequitur as my writing that if Hitler had had The Bomb it would have been as ugly as the needless firebombing of Dresden or, more relevant, our dropping The Bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

        • DrTomSchmidt August 24, 2015 at 1:47 pm #

I was perhaps unclear. I don’t think Trump is worse than Hitler, who was basically a failure at everything he did prior to politics. That seething resentment makes for a bad politician, and the kind of person who, protected deep in his bunker, cries out “from hell’s heart I stab at thee.”

There was a LOT of needless firebombing in WW2, started by Churchill as a way to relieve pressure on airfields. The point is, if a “Hitler” were to take over the USA now, he would be worse than the actualHitler in his unlimited scope of inflict able damage. If JHK really believes that Trump is a potential Hitler, then he’s got an ethical duty to undertake.

          Hope that is clearer.

        • Janos Skorenzy August 24, 2015 at 7:37 pm #

Trump has 25% support in polls of Republican voters. Republicans are about 50% of the voters.

The nation is full of potential Bremers. Jim, don’t go wishing them on anyone, even Trump!

Once we go down that rathole every maniac who wants five minutes of celebrity will be locking and loading and hunting down someone famous.

    • K-Dog August 24, 2015 at 11:31 am #

Thankfully their are websites that potential ‘Bremers’ can visit and read articles after which they can leave comments. Upon leaving comments large investigative bodies, our legacy of 911, can then identify who these potential ‘Bremers’ are through their DNS address and investigate them. Potential ‘Bremers’ can then be approached by men in black who can attempt to induce them into making incriminating and illegal statements which can lead to their detention in a federal facility.

      And to quote one author:

      “It’s all good”

That this be the death of free speech is irrelevant. The end justifies the means and people get paid.

      • newworld August 24, 2015 at 12:10 pm #

If that were true then Kos and DU would have its owners in the dock. Those two sites make the Right look respectable, I have been a Freeper for decades and I cannot remember a thread where such comments are tolerated.

The Left is good at policing the Right, and the Right is good at policing the Right, but the Left is a free fire zone of violence (ftr I have seen the grannies at Kos shutdown anarchists when they were explicit but comments as the above would be allowed to float), just saying.

Speaking of violence that unlamented peak oil site ran by that kid with the law degree was moderated by a woman who let the “guns and stuff” threads run into basically we lefties will ignore gun control laws, get guns, shoot conservatives and call ourselves servants of goodness.

        • K-Dog August 24, 2015 at 12:54 pm #

No, the owners of websites are not targets in this investigative effort. The goal is to find ‘LONE WOLF’ terrorists. Disgruntled nobodies to whom perpetration of mayhem would seemingly give their empty lives validation and value. If it makes you feel better thinking we don’t live in a surveillance state ignore my rambling about this. The only proof I have is what I have been put through, my personal experience, so all you have to do is not believe me. That should be easy to do.

        😉

        • K-Dog August 24, 2015 at 5:13 pm #

I suppose it depends if they want to be undercover or not, but black suit and a China white shirt is their normal dress code for both men and women. It depends on the psychological game they want to play. If a blue blazer and a stars and stripes lapel pin sends the message they want a particular person or dog of interest to get I’m sure that is what they will wear. The dance they waltz is not always about gathering information.

  24. Cavepainter August 24, 2015 at 10:44 am #

The Liberal Left doctrine of political correctness has purged intellectual honesty from political discussion in this country, and that is why people like Trump can get any traction at all. The Left’s gasp of alarm over Trump is really a cover for its own culpability in leaving the door open for such buffoons.

    • K-Dog August 24, 2015 at 11:19 am #

Political correctness when you think about it expresses conservatism and advances the idea that there is a right and wrong way to express ideological content. Actual content be dammed. Political correctness expresses a point of view that things are fine the way they are and that there is no need to be really concerned about anything.

Far from expressing a liberal left doctrine political correctness is a bait and switch which expresses politics of power privilege and stasis.

+1000. The entire problem with “The Liberal Left” (a self-contained oxymoron if there ever was one) is that they fundamentally believe in the current, failing, system. They just think it would work better if it were “nicer” and “more fair.” They don’t understand that ours is a fundamentally mean and unfair system. As soon as it is made “nicer” and “more fair” its fundamental and inherent flaws and internal contradictions accelerate their effect of deterioration.

          • swmnguy August 24, 2015 at 8:55 pm #

That construction (“Liberal Left”) is a particularly American quirk; you’re quite correct. But that’s the thing about America. We don’t care about calling things by their right names. We lazily use the phrases handed to us by professional advertisers. In this case, mostly William Safire, followed through by Frank Luntz. It works on Americans, because Democrats took to calling themselves “Liberal” in the first place to defuse accusations of being “Left.” So the natural riposte is to call them what they call themselves (“Liberal”) and follow it up by calling them what you want to call them anyway. Then you demonize both words by association, regardless of meaning, and you never shut up about it.

I think it was George F. Will who said that American politics is a football game between the 40-yard lines. He was wrong, but close. It’s played between the 30 and the 50 on the Right side of the field. But everyone in our political process believes completely in the game itself. They all share an identical ideology. There are different wrinkles depending on who is pandering to whom. But it’s the same fundamental view of the world and what is possible.

For instance, find the American politician who favors single-payer health care, cutting a “0” off the war machine budget, closing all overseas military bases and bringing home all the troops, sharply curtailing the political power of corporate interests, and applying to law to all equally regardless of gender, race or wealth.

And if you do find that politician, point him out to me. I’ve been looking for decades.

          • russ August 25, 2015 at 12:30 pm #

In response to swmnguy, below, I believe the politician he may be looking for would be Dr. Jill Stein or whomever the Greens nominate in 2016.

        • Sean Coleman August 27, 2015 at 12:24 pm #

You are right, they do believe. I have been looking at extravert behaviour (see Dorothy Rowe, the Australian psychologist) for some years now and have reached the conclusion that the extrovert half of the world enforce behaviour. They have much less resistance to conventional wisdom. I reckon JHK is an extravert too, but he is one of those admirable and interesting ones who take on received opinion. (I think this is always limited however – note how he plumped for Obama last time, despite excoriating him earlier.) Susan whatshername mentioned in her book about introverts, Quiet, that experiments show that the perceptions of extraverts are affected by other people around them.

        • Sean Coleman August 27, 2015 at 12:30 pm #

Just to add that, as JHK says, the immigration issue is a real, concrete thing which impacts on political correctness. Pc is a hotch potch of often conflicting ideas and a lot of nonsense, untested over time. If one part is challenged the whole edifice could collapse. It is a belief system, enforced (largely) by extraverts, often with the best intentions. However, as an introvert I don’t really understand how they think, but can only guess at it.

  25. swmnguy August 24, 2015 at 11:24 am #

I don’t think Trump is Hitler. I was working on a theory that Trump is Mussolini, but the more I think about it the less that works for me, either. Mussolini, for all his cartoonish traits, was an intellectual and Trump, though smart, is not an intellectual.

One of the biggest problems in American politics today is a nearly complete lack of ideology. Or, rather, that all mainstream politicians have basically the same ideology. I don’t mean the things they say; I refer to the things they actually do. They’re all coming from the same basic construct. They all believe that Finance = The Economy, that the US has to be the dominant military power in the world, and that there is no other way to operate than the way we do now, with minor variations depending on which group which politician is pandering to today.

Trump’s unsuitability for any responsible role is manifest. The insecurity just exudes from the guy, from the hair to the crude statements to the bad taste to the aggressive arrogance, including the compulsive need to tell everyone how smart he is. Smart people don’t have to tell you all the time that they’re smart. Rich guys don’t have to tell you how rich they are; a rich guy with $10 Billion is perfectly happy to let you think he only has $1 Billion; the other $9 Billion can be his little secret. Rich is rich; the need to quantify and amplify it rings a false note.

I think most of us agree that The Winner has already been selected, and the next 14 months are an exercise in manipulation. What’s interesting is the role Trump plays in this. He’s not going to be the selected one. But he is already having a major impact shaping what develops until the [s]election. Rudeness is back. Racism is coming out into the open. Magical thinking is making new all-time highs every day. The popularity of Trump’s over-simplification of complex issues beyond the control of any one individual is a very bad sign.

I’m starting to think maybe Trump is Hermann Goering, without the military achievements.

“Trump is Hermann Goering, without the military achievements”

      Hermann Meyer…?

      • swmnguy August 24, 2015 at 11:57 am #

If I recall correctly, Meyer was indeed a genuine military over-achiever. I was thinking of Goering’s WWI fighter ace status, as opposed to Trump’s lack of military service. But mostly of Goering’s later career, where he excelled in corruption and self-indulgence as a cartoon of a military hero. I would hope that someday Goering’s most enduring legacy is his quote at the Nuremberg Trials about how easily the leaders of nations trick their populations into going to war.

Trump is one of the “terrible sympathizers” Mumford talked about. And as Mr Kunstler said, the two parties refused to do anything about the Invasion – even talk about it. Finally someone came along and told the Truth about it.

And btw, his position paper is good. He is smart enough to know he doesn’t know: he consulted with Jeff Sessions.

My theory on the Donald is that he started running for prez when he signed the deal for his reality tv show, casting himself as the smart, all knowing, fearless, successful executive. What better way to do it than from central casting? How much of his current support is from his fans who watch him weekly make decisions in his office on tv? If so that is pretty smart, run for prez and get paid for doing it.

I’ve been wondering along those lines as well. One thing interests me. Trump makes a lot of money making appearances, particularly of the “philanthropic” variety. I’ve dealt with the guy in connection to two different “charities.” (I’m using the scare-quotes because I have noticed how much money the various “philanthropists” derive from their ostensibly altruistic activities; Trump among the rest).

I’m guessing these charitable organizations won’t want to associate with declared Presidential candidates. They’ve been paying Trump well into six-figures for his association with them. That’s where people like Bill Clinton get their money too; indeed, one of the groups I know of works with both the Clintons and Trump. If that money dries up, or looks as if it will, I wouldn’t be surprised if Trump says he’s done what he set out to do, drops his campaign, and gets back on the lucrative rubber-chicken circuit.

      • outsider August 24, 2015 at 7:00 pm #

swmnguy – Your last sentence is straight out of Perot’s ’92 playbook. The little General said the same thing when he dropped out – while leading both Clinton and GHWB in the polls! Then he became a laughingstock and came back in again to save face – still getting 19% of the vote. I can’t see Trump doing the same while he is dominating the GOP field.

As an aside, I think we all know why Trump keeps wearing a baseball cap at his rallies and esp. when outside. If he gets elected, will he wear it when he takes the oath?

  28. ozone August 24, 2015 at 11:46 am #

“The trouble is that it’s not inconceivable Trump could get elected. Be very afraid.” —JHK

Here’s some affirmation of dread possibilities:

    http://www.counterpunch.org/2015/08/21/the-plague-of-american-authoritarianism/

Yes, we can…. follow along in our hymnals; Mr. Kunstler has been sounding the klaxon on this phenomena for many years. It just takes time for conditions and events to coalesce into a moment of ultimate ripeness. Then “the folks” will rally around a belligerent personality ably suited for the purges. (Of course, as JHK avers, it will be the setting of the disenfranchised against one another, instead of their true enemies. Desperate people follow true believers into despicable acts in the misbegotten hope that change and contraction can be annulled for another generation or so.)

I would opine that a realistic appraisal of the situation helps to mitigate the paralyzing effect of general fear. Sure, fear is a healthy thing, but it must be twinned with purpose and resolve to create forward movement. A willingness to see change as an effective way of dealing with implacable predicaments follows. JHK’s missives have allowed me that perspective, and [in my eyes] he’s correct about the road that the majority have chosen to tread; it’s only a matter of timing that determines when they’ll find their heart’s desire. (Which appears to be gluttony/consumption unto destruction. After all, what other condition have they been carefully taught to cherish and nurture? …Besides a rabid militarism and arrogance, that is.)

Prepare. Events are coalescing nicely, and no amount of new gadgetry, distractions or entertainments can stop it from happening. It’s also high time that we recognize that cornucopian “hope-iness” is nothing more than a soothing lullaby; urging us to remain asleep and dreaming. That’s dangerous, and its boosters are selling a product that is about to become as vaporous as the assertion of endless exponential growth.

Ps. Mr. Musk is hard at work on another scam. Transcontinental pneumatic tubes for travel. Sure, let’s waste some more resources and capital! Good idea; maybe Trump can appoint him as Grand Vizier or Head Smartguy That Loves Me, Too.

Trump is a lot of things, but saying he is worse than Hitler is silly. – Vengeur

    =============

Agreed. Trump does not have an iota of the intuitive political and military tactical brilliance of Hitler. He also lacks the deep knowledge of history and rhetorical/oratorical brilliance of Hitler. (Jim’s description of Trump’s ever branching non-sentences was great…Trump is an exceptionally poor speaker). If Trump possessed even a tenth of Hitler’s attributes he WOULD be dangerous.

Trump will peter-out after he has fully milked his two legitimate issues: immigration and political correctness.

    • swmnguy August 24, 2015 at 11:58 am #

I’d add to Trump’s to-do list the securing of a very lucrative media deal of some sort. That’s what he’s actually very good at.

      • elysianfield August 24, 2015 at 5:18 pm #

I never equate a personal fortune with intelligence, or even ability. How many of the readership would be billionaires today if only their father had whispered a few words of wisdom in their ear upon their graduation from university…”Here son, take these several hundred million dollars, and don’t lose it….”

    • Janos Skorenzy August 24, 2015 at 2:43 pm #

He’s a plain spoken guy who speaks his mind (or so he appears at least). A barbarian. People find that immensely refreshing. So was Bush of course, but he was just a tool and dummy. If Trump is a tool, he’s a much finer one.

      • MisterDarling August 24, 2015 at 3:18 pm #

        “A barbarian.”-j.

On this, we agree. Regimes tend to fall prey to them… on their way out.

        • Janos Skorenzy August 24, 2015 at 7:53 pm #

Or on their way in. A strong nation can survive Barbarians, or even losing and being ruled by them. China and Egypt did many times. A nation can survive anything but loss of blood.

Black or Brown refugees are far more dangerous than any conquering army.

Off the topic of waiting for a mental and emotional defective to cure America’s Trump problem, there is one stock on my board in the green today.

Climate changers/warmists take heed Soros is bidding up Arch Coal (symbol ACH).

That is how its done folks, break em, bust em and scoop em up and distribute the loot.

Now could the oligarchs do this to the country at large? Better call Larry Summers and the other Haaaarvard boys for that answer.

Why keep America around? Is its military needed? Perhaps. Its debt might be the best thing left after Europe implodes under the latest invasion, hey lets replace Germans with Africans and Arabs, what could go wrong there?

America’s assets, farmland, mineral wealth but that is rather dispersed in ownership at the present, so my guess is that those asset classes will come under attack soon as people with money try and wrest control of those real assets from the current owners.

  32. volodya August 24, 2015 at 11:57 am #

What’s scary about the Trump phenom is that this buffoon spouts incoherence and so many people cheer. Are the alternatives to Trump THAT bad? I suppose that to ask the question is to answer it.

The point is can you imagine someone TALENTED in Trump’s place?

Seeing as JHK brought up Hitler: I saw a speech by Hitler from the 1930s in English translation where he was ranting about rootless, country-less Jews. Hitler was coherent, organized and well rehearsed. He pointed the finger at Jews without ever saying their name. He had the crowd in the palm of his hand. For all his absurdities Hitler knew how to deliver a message. And then look at what happened to Jews. Now imagine someone with Hitler’s ability talking about illegal immigration.

And then there’s Trump. Trump has nothing of Hitler’s talent.

Trump spouts on about how rich he is. As if this qualifies him. Ok, how rich IS he? Does anyone know?

The guy works in a formerly mob-run business. You’d think that, even with a modicum of business acumen, that this would be a license to print money. Even illiterate Sicilian gangsters made a fortune running gambling operations.

But somehow, Trump can’t. Trump, for all his education, for all his advantages, fucks up where no-neck goombas succeeded. I mean, Trump has four bankruptcies under his belt. FOUR!

How is this possible? Any Sicilian boss that ran things that badly would be sleeping with the fishes. No matter, even if Trump is rich, do you want a glorified bookie as Prez? What’s next? A drug dealer?

Amazing how such a thin reed can get so much support. Having said that, point to anyone in either of the Oligarch owned and run parties that doesn’t make you laugh. Chin-less Jeb or those other worthless pant-shitters?

Or Hillary, a Secretary of State that didn’t have the sense to use government servers? The pro-Hillary spinners scream that there’s no THERE there. Seriously? Do they think that insulting people’s intelligence helps their cause?

    • russ August 24, 2015 at 2:02 pm #

      “…What’s next? A drug dealer?…”

Well, of course in “Idiocracy” the nation got “…One of the most memorable parts of Judge’s bleak look at our increasing stupidity was the man who becomes the President in this future world, former porn star and professional wrestler Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho…”

I agree with your thoughts – Trump seems to me to be a lot closer to Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho than Hitler.

Actually, one thing Trump said recently that actually made sense was that he’d start to tax hedge fund managers a lot more because they just get filthy rich pushing paper, and that’s not how you build a nation.

That may have been said precisely when a broken clock was giving exactly the correct time, but hey.

    • MisterDarling August 24, 2015 at 3:35 pm #

“Are the alternatives to Trump THAT bad? I suppose that to ask the question is to answer it.”-v.

CFN-ers are turning in some nice turns of phrase this morning, and this certainly qualifies.

“The guy works in a formerly mob-run business.

FOUR!”-v.

It looks idiotic but it isn’t. Every one of Trump’s bankruptcies were strategic – meaning that he set them up, looted them, removed himself from the circle of liability before they went CH 11… Just like a mobster “getting the paper” on a legitimate business, looting, then “busting ’em out” … Followed up shortly with “an unfortunate fire” that leaves them with an insurance settlement.

One of the oldest tricks in the playbook.

If Trump wins, America’s “got a date Wednesday, baby! Whoooh!” (to quote The Big Lebowski).

    • newworld August 24, 2015 at 12:35 pm #

FED by law for what that is worth can only take in US govt debt, so a QE program could theoretically liquefy the markets to some extent.

But I think QE can only work for a bank is if its treasury debt paper has accumulated in price otherwise its a low margin exercise. Because the primary dealers have to go back to the next auction with money to buy the next issue and that money cannot go into stocks. Maybe someone smarter can explain that daisy chain better.

    Worse than Hitler?
C’mon JIm, that one doesn’t even hit the paper on the target.
Donald Trump seems to the (antithesis) approximate of Nikita Khrushchev, a product of that particularly brutal 20th century experiment namely the Soviet Union.
A man so full of himself – a narcissist with delusions of grandeur (plus the nukes and resources of a burgeoning global superpower) determined to have his way.
Niki pushed the world to the brink during the Cuban Missile Crisis and famously pounded his shoe on the speakers podium of the United Nations while telling us in the West: “…we will bury you!”
He too liked walls – please consider his approval for the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961.
The Donald is a not-so-unique product of that particularly pernicious and profligate system: late stage Hyper-Capitalism.
A man so full of himself – with delusions of grandeur (plus the resourses of a world wide real estate and media empire) determined to have his way.
The Donald pushed Atlantic City to the brink with the construction of casinos (that machine that proves there is a sucker born every minute and that the house always wins.)
He famously called Rosie O’Donnel a fat ugly cow – or something like that and still is hasn’t had his New York City citizenship revoked.
He also advocates a wall along the southern border of the U.S.A. that maybe even Nikita would approve of.
The Politburo (with the assistance of the military) eventually had Niki removed to a dach retirement.
The Wirepullers will have Trump /silenced/removed if he doesn’t play their game.

To get off of Trump a little bit, that part about “something for nothing” caught my eye.
I used to watch Antiques Roadshow on PBS from time to time. I saw it change from a show about history into a show about money. Something about the antiques and ‘collectibles’ business had been increasingly bothering me, especially since the arrival of the Internets.
I realized what it was, was the underlying immoral (to me, anyway) mentality of “something for nothing” and putting something over on the unsuspecting.
There’s the same mentality to those ‘house flipper’ tv shows.

    • vengeur August 24, 2015 at 3:40 pm #

Beryl, I quit watching Antiques Road show for the same reason. The “Win the Jackpot” aspect became tiresome. The other thing that rubbed me the wrong way was the ” My Aunt passed away and left me THIS. How much is it worth?”

There is always great attention paid to who the next Puppet-in-Chief will be, not so much to the very expensive propaganda that puts them there. To whose benefit is mass immigration, lower wages and war? To the Corporations and their 1% owners.

I cannot believe that Mr. Kunstler has actually come out and railed against that great American pastime of Gambling, or Getting Rich Quick, or Achieving Something by Doing Nothing, wow. The last time I heard such words was 50 years ago, spoken by my father as he extolled the value of applying yourself and working hard to get ahead. I am glad he did as I am tickled that you would do so too JHK. It is a lifestyle long ago abandoned by the nation’s leadership and unfortunately has trickled down to the actual class of individual that are still required to do exactly this – work hard to keep it all going. Perhaps I am too old and cynical to hope that this death spiral that American society is on can be righted and kept aloft anymore, but when the job of LEADER is advertised to be filled and the rules are that Circus Clowns Only Need Apply, well how much hope can one maintain?

I was about to say something profound, such as ‘why on Earth are we paying so much attention to the question of who is going to be the next President’, when the important thing we should be seeking in a republic is how seriously are the people contemplating the major issues of the day, and that their expression of what is to be done ought to show itself in Congressional elections, etc.

Then I read Walter B’s comment about “…but when the job of LEADER is advertised to be filled and the rules are that Circus Clowns Only Need Apply…”, and MisterDarling’s comment about “…the American Endeavor started as a get-rich-quick scheme, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that this is the way it goes to pot…”

and I thought ‘yeah, right – the Presidential election these days is kind of a strange step-child of the Miss America contest, except it is for older and very wealthy folks’.

So, the only thing to do other than vote for candidates from third, fourth, and fifth political parties is to gather around the drain, watch the water circle, and listen to the gurgle, gurgle,
        gurgle…

Come to think of it, watching a video of a drain doing that seems like an excellent replacement for the usual State of the Union blather.

“The only statistic that matters. Polls and “Your Vote” don’t determine the winner. Money does.” — Cold

Money? You have a lot of good company who believe that. All of them incorrectly forecast the winner in 2012.

”I am now predicting a 330 vote electoral landslide.” –Larry Kudlow (Oct. 25, 2012)

“Mitt Romney will carry Ohio and be swept into office by a comfortable margin.” –Joe Scarborough (2012)

“My prediction: Sometime after the cock crows on the morning of Nov. 7, Mitt Romney will be declared America’s 45th president. Let’s call it 51%-48%, with Mr. Romney carrying at least 279 Electoral College votes, probably more.” — Karl Rove

“A huge Romney Election Day, predicting a 321-217 landslide that includes nearly every swing state including Minnesota.” –George Will

“Electorally it won’t even be that close. Romney will win many states that went to Obama in 2008. I predict a Romney victory by 100 to 120 electoral votes.” –Las Vegas oddsmaker Wayne Allen Root

    ————————

There are lots more of the same vein. All of them were wrong. Pundit after pundit thought money mattered and the millionaire candidate would win in 2012.

It is not the one with the most money who wins. It is usually the one with the most electoral votes who wins, if the popular vote is counted.

Jeb is a no-go. Worse candidate than W.

In 2012, BHO received the most political contributions and he was the winner. Follow The Money. Jeb is way out in front and his “War Chest” is growing rapidly, and there’s still over a year until the election. At this rate, Jeb could raise $1.5 billion. FYI, I’m not saying I want Jeb to be the next president, I’m saying he is the next president. There’s a difference. If it was my choice, an eggplant should be the next president — I truly believe it would do less damage.

Trump is very intelligent. The polished always underestimate barbarians. I used to debate with a friend about the N.Y Times. To him it was the standard of culture. I told him it was just well polished lies.

Of course one could be polished and intelligent and truthful as well. That’s high culture. But the intelligent and polished tend to get weak and/or corrupt over time – and push Truth and the truthful out. Trump is here to rebalance things. If he was polished, he would have more trouble with these people. As it is, he just blows them over. Mr Kunstler is right: it wont work with everyone though and trying to make it work could lead to tragedy.

Boys should be raised to fight. Then if they’re polishable, polish away. Instead the fighting stage is skipped, and all kinds of silly idealisms encouraged. And of course being a traitor a la Howard Zinn. All this must change. The young need myths. If they’re smart, they can learn the actual truth later – after the myths have formed their character. For most people, the truth just becomes the basis for horrible myths. That’s what’s happened to the so call left. Millions of women believe in “the burning times” when millions of good, righteous pagans (mostly women) were burned alive by the Church. It never happened.

So since people are going to mythologize anyway, and most people are never going to get beyond that stage – give them good myths that promote human well being and societal strength. Thus Plato was appalled at the cupidity of the Greek Gods and desired to change the stories, making them more like the Egyptian pantheon. In other words, Plato didn’t believe in the gods but knew people needed them.

Add to your list the ideological faith – because it sure isn’t supported by any facts – in the ‘we must have increasing GNP, at all costs’; we must always expect to have infinite growth on a very finite planet.

The increasing GNP, by the way, is just another wealth pump the wealthy use to steal from from the less well-to-do classes.

The sad thing is all the Rs and all the Ds believe that – hence voting for them is folly. Only the Greens think otherwise.

We’ve known for 50-60 years that the curtain would fall on the Industrial Civilization Extravaganza sideshow. We’ve done nothing.

We used to always settle overpopulation and resource scarcity with war but war is a hell of an energy consumer!

“The US Air Force (USAF) is the single largest consumer of jet fuel in the world. Fathom, if you can, the astronomical fuel usage of USAF fighter planes: the F-4 Phantom Fighter burns more than 1,600 gallons of jet fuel per hour and peaks at 14,400 gallons per hour at supersonic speeds. The B-52 Stratocruiser, with eight jet engines, guzzles 500 gallons per minute; ten minutes of flight uses as much fuel as the average driver does in one year of driving! A quarter of the world’s jet fuel feeds the USAF fleet of flying killing machines; in 2006, they consumed as much fuel as US planes did during the Second World War (1941-1945) — an astounding 2.6 billion gallons.”

  65. Cold N. Holefield August 24, 2015 at 4:20 pm #

Here’s another link from HuffPo that contradicts wpa’s link. It’s ironic, because the article mentions that the BHO campaign sent out a scare-tactic email to its donors that it would be outspent by the Romney campaign in order to garner more donations — and it worked — they garnered many more donations they wouldn’t have.

Money spent doesn’t buy votes. Money raised equals votes — the votes of the Elite. The candidates are then required to spend the money on firms and consultants owned and run by the Elite and once in office the newly appointed Puppet-In-Chief for the Elite must sponsor any and all legislation the Elite requires, e.g. The ACA at the behest of shareholders who own the Health Insurance Companies.

Barack Hussein Obama defeated Romney on all counts: Obama raised more money than Romney, spent money more conservatively than Romney, and still got the votes needed to win. In the end, it was the electoral votes that counted, not the money. Obama was fiscally responsible, did not go into debt, and did not need to spend all the money he raised in order to defeat Romney. Wow! these market losses are truly monumental.

    Question for CFN.

With the elections so far off into the future, over 14 months, who cares about it now anyway? The world could turn over a half dozen times between now and then. Any number of things could happen, with all these existential threats swirling around us, it might not even matter who the president is. The President could end up like the NY Governor in ‘World Made by Hand’, sitting at his desk in Washington, .45 Colt in hand, not much to do as the country smolders outside the White House fence, ready to shoot any intruders and interlopers.

    brh

    • Smoky Joe August 24, 2015 at 5:36 pm #

I do love that scene with the Lieutenant Governor. I read it as a civil servant upholding the old rituals just because they once meant something.

In the blasted city of Delaney’s novel Dhalgren, one character pretends to go to work every day. I think he was an engineer. He sits in an empty office in a ruined building. I just loved that image, and I’m glad JHK did something similar in his novel.

Some of us would really yearn for the old order if it vanished, and we’d play pretend as long as we could. I sure would. It’s been a good ride.

A President would not be alone at his desk. He’d have some badass military or Secret Service folks with their weapons, protecting the White House and hoping for whatever pickings that might drop from the table when a New Order emerged from the wreckage.

  73. Smoky Joe August 24, 2015 at 5:30 pm #

“And the American people, alas, are now surely a worse lot of ignorant, raging, tattooed slobs than the German people were in 1933. ”

This comment, on the other hand, is completely reasonable. Today’s ‘murica has embraced all forms of decadence like none other. From gluttony to self-exhibitionism, hedonism, wastefulness, violence, egocentrism, and incorrigible ignorance… there are no more boundaries. Occasionally we se glimmers of that supposed exceptionalism, like the 4 young men on that Paris bound train. They claim they were not thinking, they simply acted. Perhaps this is the consciousness that Buddhists believe the most enlightened. Be real.

I would wager most are mercenary enough to prefer to be protecting their own property and families, not putting their lives on the line for the president without receiving pay.

  78. Civility118 August 24, 2015 at 6:43 pm #

Sorry for the long comment, but there is one idea that doesn’t fit into Donald Trump’s overall pattern of logic. He says he wants to deport 11 million “illegal aliens” and “the good ones can come back.” He bases his desire to do this primarily on violent crime within a small portion of the population which he paints as Mexicans, followed by the argument that they take jobs and other resources that Americans should have.

Trump has enough logic in other areas to know you don’t throw out a barrel of apples, and afterwards, put the good one back in. In the case of 11 million “apples”, the manpower to do this would not be COST EFFECTIVE, particularly since law enforcement systems can easily identify the rotten ones and remove those, which is probably less than 5%.

He additionally wants to change the 14th Amendment and revoke citizenship of anchor babies, and paints an untrue picture that they’re entirely made up of Mexicans (and by loose association, Latinos). He also wants to restructure banking so they can’t send money home to whatever struggling family they have there which will cause unimaginable suffering in other countries. Considering how the world is interdependent what happens in one place affects another, I anticipate unforeseen blowback here.

So he’s scapegoating Mexicans, but they’re hardly the only fruit in the barrel. He appeals to fear and stirs up feelings of racial insecurity and prejudice among whites and non-whites.

Should he succeed, his plan will create TERRORISM in this country. This is because when you take away everything a group of people have, and threaten to put them on a bus or a train to a destination where they have no idea what will happen and may no longer have ties of family or even language to that place, a segment of this group will fight back. There’s no shortage of white men with guns to volunteer for the job, and their fingers will be on the trigger and they won’t be nice about it. This country is flooded with guns, and there will be Latino resistance groups and lone wolves who will use them. This will cause law enforcement and decent whites to become even more fearful. Trump’s plan will create (and already has to a degree) deeper feelings of tribalism, xenophobia, and isolation from each other, ironically to fight over the right to live in a land that was home to Native Americans but ended for them in genocide, poverty, and more than one Trail of Tears.

Since Trump a businessman, none of this “us vs. them” thinking is logical because it’s not cost effective. The thing is, he could easily win over many Latinos, blacks, and other groups if he only focused on deporting felons and just stopping the flow of new illegal aliens. I can only deduce that under his brilliant businessman veneer is a very dangerous white supremacist.

Well said. Violence is coming one way or another. The only question is Who wins? America of We the White People or some kind of Corporate Slave Farm, a Brazil North. There are other options too: some of the Mexicans want their own country in the Southwest. Not having a loyal bone in your body, I imagine this is what you would choose. I mean you certainly don’t belong with us in any case.

We founded America so WE are the Native Americans. The Indians were just living here. We took it from them for our own People and Culture. If you don’t like it, maybe you could go back to Europe. Of course your spiritual brethren are giving that away to Native Muslims. Maybe you could apply for membership in an Indian Tribe. I wish I could watch them give you the bum rush.

Amazing. This guy talks as if the Indians were a big country – an America without Whites and not hundreds of tribes fighting each other for land and resources.

          Camden, or ‘Cam dont’,

I stumbled on a photo essay of Camden NJ recently on / www. Camden / was never paradise on earth, not in the 1930’s or the 1950’s, although it was home to RCA Victor at one point. But it was a good place, supporting many lives in happiness and peace. It was a working class city, White working class.

The houses were modest, although with building flourishes that you will not find today. You will not find those details because the men who did that kind of work are dead many years now.

But the photos show a city that looks like it was bombed. And it was bombed. It was bombed by the neutron bomb known as the negro. They fix nothing, they contribute nothing. They have no creativity nor any sense of beauty and order. Order itself is antithetical to the negro. They thrive on disorder, chaos and decay, along with a constant background of violence and corruption.

Illegal aliens have citizenship in the nation of origin, entitling spouse and children to citizenship as well. Why then is the US citizenry being admonished to allow illegal aliens pathway to citizenship based on argument that family has been established here? Why not return back to the illegal alien the responsibility for family and children rather than holding the US citizenry blameful for divided families resulting from deportation of the illegal alien?

Why instead is the citizenry of the US expected to continue to act as proxy parents to the children of illegal aliens, continuing to support with tax money all the services and benefits those children use up, exhausting budgets legislated by congress on behalf of the citizenry and intended for the exclusive benefit of the citizenry?

AGAIN, why exempt the illegal alien from responsibility to counsel spouse and children through assimilation in nation of origin rather than put the burden on the US taxpayer to assimilate them here?

Why,…. instead of being allowed to demand legitimacy as a political force in the US illegal aliens aren’t summarily expelled, having all properties accumulated in this country confiscated for reparation of advantage they’ve thefted from the US citizenry, netting immeasurably more than prospect in nation of origin?

Why is the US citizenry urged to allow illegal aliens pathway to US citizenship, conferring upon them advantage of dual citizenship not possessed by most US citizens?

Why rather than being urged to concede more to illegal alien demand for acceptance the US citizenry aren’t urged to counter with demand for (1) recognition of US citizens’ tolerance during the illegal aliens’ violation of our national sovereignty (2) Executive ultimatum that all illegal aliens be expulsed immediately?

Oh, I know why according to the meme of the Liberal Left: Our national sovereignty and framework for representational democracy is immoral, so taking that “moral” argument to its logical conclusion we should fund transport of all foreigners who believe they might advantage from being here but don’t have the convenience of just illegally crossing our border.

Trump is not a fragile ego. He’s thinks he’s great and wants everyone else to know it. This kind of Freudian reversal is only true for people at a higher level – people who know that they aren’t winners or that even if they were, so what. They desperately resist such awareness and postulate the opposite – and try to get others to believe too.

There’s no to be or not to be in Trump. What are you going to say to him – that he’s a loser? Didn’t make billions? He’s proud and by his lights, has every right to be. Or Hitler: That he wasn’t a great man? Didn’t take over Germany? Didn’t want to save Germany from Communism? He was and he did.

Trump doesn’t know about the three marks of existence: anatta, annica, and dukkah – no self, everything is temporary, and all experience is suffering. He thinks life is great and if you don’t, you’re a loser. The baseball cap says “Let’s roll” or in other words, take down Putin and bomb Iran back into the stone age. Hopefully he seals up the border before he does these other wonderful things.

“Yeah, but when you calculate the potential “kills” per gallon it doesn’t seem all that profligate.” –Q

Q., I wanted to follow up on last week when you singled out the point related to “consistent” and said it was meant for me. This week you return to use the word “kills” as in last week’s “legitimate kills.”

When a foreign invader kills eight children from one New Jersey family, I call that mass murder. An American soldier kills eight children from one Afghan family, and calls them “legitimate kills.” I am consistent in using mass murder in both cases: New Jersey and Afghanistan. Not using mass murder in the latter case would be inconsistent, since both actions are illegal and committed by foreign invaders. Thanks for bringing it up again this week.

Trump represents, in style and rhetoric, the corporate narcissist sociopath that this country has been producing in abundance since we stopped making anything else and shipped most of our middle class jobs to $10 a week third world sweat shops in the name of “the deal.” He flings his mental waste at whatever is handy in an attempt to grab the headlines in his zealous march through the tortured and splintered American psyche. Today it was the hedge fund managers. Tomorrow it will be some other phantasmagorical mirage his handlers stir up from the headlines. He is neither a statesman nor an elder and his ego is boundless unlike his intellect. He appeals to the most base of human fears which are whipsawing this country and forcing more and more people to pick a side. Elect him President? Good Lord – you’ve got to be kidding me.

A Must Read: “The Modern Mercenary” by Sean McFate.

According to McFate’s book, the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have created significant dependence of the US military on Private Military Companies (“PMCs”). Many of these PMCs are listed corporations on the New York Stock Exchange and run for profit.

According to McFate, the US for now largely controls these PMCs because of the PMCs’ dependency on US government contracts mostly related to the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, what McFate refers to as economic “Bubbles”.

McFate says that once the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts eventually wind down that these “Bubbles” will burst and the PMCs will seek clients elsewhere. McFate says that inevitably the existing PMCs will face competition from new competitor PMCs from Russia, China, etc.

McFate says that in the future nation states will no longer have a monopoly on the use of force as PMCs will start to contract out their services to private corporations, NGos, and private individuals in what McFate describes as “Neomedievalism”. According to McFate, in the Middle Ages, mercenary armies were quite common and states did not have a monopoly on force.

According to McFate, the US Congress has a dearth of information about what PMCs do, and, therefore, cannot control the PMCs.

Am I the only one in the United States backing Jim Webb?

Trump says that Saudi Arabia should be paying the US for its defense by the US military. But why should Saudi Arabia give money to the US for the US in turn to hire private military contractors? Wouldn’t it make more sense for Saudi Arabia to hire contractors to build its own mercenary army? Or, maybe ISIS is such a Saudi Arabian-financed army?

Not only here. In Malmo Sweden somebody this week was tossing live grenades at passing cars, Malmo happens to be all Muslim, the whole city on welfare. You gotta hand it to the London newspapers tho, you had to read between the lines to find out the grenade tossers name was Mustafa. Same with the rape of young Swedish girls; the Eritrean immigrants just can’t keep their hands off those blond beauties, can’t get enough of them. No matter. Swedish press leaves out the part where the rapists are African immigrants, and the victims are native Swedes.

Financial Times of London blames the violence in Malmo and the rape epidemic in Sweden on the Swedes failure to hand out enough welfare benefits.

Socialism is a beautiful thing when it is needed and appreciated. But when those on the receiving end despise the ‘gift givers’ then one is engaging in a form of masochism. Or as the lyrics to the old Ricky Lee Jones song go ‘don’t give it away if they don’t appreciate it’:

Will it blow now or later?

In the short term it appears that the markets are trying to force the Fed not to raise rates in September or force the Chinese to launch a serious program of economic stimulus to support growth expectations.

To describe it in a rude, simplistic and cynical way, it is not the first of such hysteria. Each time the “US financial aristocracy” is going to be separated from the printing press or is forced to pay a fee for using it, the market collapses, and the Federal Reserve is forced again to actively print. Look at the chart of the S&P500:

    http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/crimsonalter/13842643/85222/85222_900.png

Every serious decline is stopped with some new scheme to inject fresh dough into the market: QE1, QE2, QE3, Operation Twist, etc. As soon as they’re switched off markets began falling again and the Fed was in a hurry to stop it before it can develop into a full-fledged panic. And this time the situation is particularly serious because of the fact that America does not fall by itself, but at the same time with China.

The financial aristocracy in the US is twisting the hands of that part of the American elite, who would like to raise rates in order to save the American social programs (the essence of the problem: the American financiers need low rates and the US pension and social funds – high, because the payments are based on the revenues from US government bonds, the rates of which are “tied” to the rate of the Federal Reserve)

In the struggle between the “financiers” and “politicians”, it is logical (based also on past experience) to bet on the “financiers”, who are more likely to get what they want: the abolition of the rate increase, and may be another program to stimulate the economy in the bargain.

And here we arrive at the bifurcation point: if even that does not instigate a sharp takeoff (from China and Russia to London and New York), that really means “we’re cooked” and you could safely start preparing for a new global Great Depression. But if it will help, so we are set to watch another installation of the tiresome soap opera “Fed rescues the financial system, simultaneously pumping the whole world with dollars.”

If all explodes, we are looking at a long period of de-globalization, the destruction of cross-border production and trade chains, reconfiguration of world into several currency and industrial zones. Everyone will be in pain.

And if it won’t blow, once again we are looking to rise in prices of everything, from Chinese and Russian oil shares to shares of Apple and Brazilian bonds.

And then it will still blow.

    http://crimsonalter.livejournal.com/72834.html

Not only do I agree with your assessment, but so does the Fed for they have stated this eventuality many times in the past. Why do they continue? Because the Fed is owned by those who want the free money and since they all can spread it around after they print it, they will continue to line their own pockets until it all falls down. In the meanwhile the Big Buck Boys use the free flowing cash to prepare and insulate themselves when it all crumbles, I know a few and it is true. Just a question of when.

Headline today in our local rag.

“Hartford City Students to receive free breakfast, lunch and dinner at school this year”

By all means, if parents refuse to feed their own children, the State is compelled to do it. You can’t let the little ones starve. Back at home these ‘parents’ are busy screwing and knocking out more kids they cannot or will not take care of. So much for family planning. What family are we talking about, anyway? Meanwhile, the need keeps growing in these ‘Sanctuary Cities’, poor and desperate people arriving from all over the 3rd world. Out here struggling white families have to sacrifice to take care of their own kids, no free lunch in white utopia. Over the past week or so there have been all these feel good news stories about free backpacks full of school supplies in all urban areas, didn’t see any white faces lined up, apparently whitey is expected to buy his own f-kkin backpack and his own lunch, plus thro in a little bit more to take care of the whole 3rd world, which is no longer across the ocean somewhere, but right down the road, the next town over.

Incidentally, we might as well get used to the idea that W Europe is destined to become part of the Worldwide Caliphate. Once they reach critical mass in a country like Holland or Sweden, what’s going to stop the Muslim majority from just taking over?

I don’t believe Donald Trump is Hitler. He is very outspoken, which is a sin in our PC, managerial society, and he articulates a lot of public frustration. JHK once said that people don’t necessarily want a politician to be honest, but they want him to be authentic. Trump is, and so he gets called Hitler. That’s the ultimate insult, because when we discuss Hitler, it’s never in terms of history, but demonology. As J.C.F.. Fuller wrote, the struggle in the thirties wasn’t so much Nazism and Democracy as much as it was a struggle between heroic man and economic man. We lost the Reichs Chancellery but got the big, corporate, glass box.
Trump reminds me of the character Jake Holman in the movie The Sand Pebbles, when a Chinese on his ship is being tortured by a mob, and the captain won’t get involved because fear of an international incident. Holman cries out ‘well somebody, do something!’
    People want something done.
Trump probably won’t get the GOP nomination. They want to stop him. As Alex Costalanos, a GOP advisor said, the way to stop Trump is ‘get close and shive him in the back like Julius Caesar.’
That’s the GOP establishment for you. Craig Hulet, the counterterrorism advisor, said over a year ago that it’s already decided who will run: it will be Hilary vs Bush, and Bush will win because Hilary has too much baggage. Also, he said if Bush gets elected, ‘he’ll be a tyrant. Much worse than Obama.’
Trump has a lot of faults, but people look at him and see someone who at least succeeds. Government, like Hulet said, at every level in America, is incompetent and corrupt. Also, we have real problems such as a barbarian invasion (and when the numbers are as huge as they are, that’s what it is…not immigration. As in Europe. Germany is expected to receive 800,000 thousand people streaming in. That’s 400 AD, the Visigoths are coming numbers)We’re not much different. No one in any government will do anything.
JHK complains about ‘ignorant raging tattooed slobs worse than the German people in 1933.’ Maybe, but they were molded that way. As for 1933, Hitler came in in a large part because Germany simply wasn’t being governed, and the nation needed a leader. I know that’s repulsive to a lot of you, but Germany was in a vacuum caused by unresolved political problems before WWI, the stupid, vindictive treaty of Versailles, and a right-wing leadership and left-wing new class that couldn’t unite. We forget the real fear people there had of communism.
As for Hilary, she’s falling apart because there was never really much there, and for the first time, the media is actually showing her as she is. Much like Obama would be shown as the terrible, ignorant, destructive leader he is if he didn’t have the media hiding it for him. A lot of you voted for him, and you did it because you hate conservatives and you wanted a black as president. Got your wish, but we don’t seem to be a better country putting this unqualified activist in, and one who’s a Muslim as well.
A lot of you talk about hate regarding whites hating blacks and foreigners…but now I keep seeing ‘white privilege’ touted more often. That’s the real hate, and racial politics are very much in the forefront of things, although, in true American fashion, no one talks about it, because to us race is like sex was to the Victorians.
JHK alludes to it in his writings, but won’t come out and say it.
I really think the country would be better off breaking up, and more people are thinking this. The Southwest is already Hispanic. There are a cluster of black city-states. I agree with Harold Covington that in a break-up, white people need their own country, and he urges the northwest be a white nation. JHK disagrees, but his argument for the old union as opposed to NASCAR country is pretty much a white world. In his splendid series on the world made by hand, he jibed at the Foxfire nation as a bunch of redneck fools, but there was a black country too he didn’t show, probably because if he showed such a place realistically…Detroit + Idi Amin times ten…he wouldn’t get published.
I’m reminded of the Austro-Hungarian empire, where they kept a multinational mix together, and to push for a dissolution was simply not discussed, forbidden, and it was cobbled together until a major war brought reality to the door. Maybe we’re going in the same direction, and certainly we won’t be the first empire to do this.
Also, Janos, the Iron Cross wasn’t like the Purple heart. it was more like a Silver Star, but there were different orders to it.
Mein Kampf certainly is a jumble, but sad to say, the older I get, the better Hitler sounds in some ways. he argued democracy wasn’t based on logic, but appealing to the emotions of the masses, using Lloyd George’s manipulation of the British public as an example. When’s the last time anyone on this website sang praises about the public’s rationality and good sense? Clinton-Bush-Obama is not a great selling point for that.
I don’t care for Sanders nor his being a socialist, but I do like him calling himself one. It’s a refreshing bit of honesty for the left. Trump vs Sanders would be quite a show, but I doubt we’ll see it.
When Trump gets dumped by the GOP, he could go the third party route, and, sad to say, if he really grabbed numbers, I wouldn’t be surprised to see, as we had in the Sixties, another ‘lone, gun-crazed assassin who kept a diary’ take care of things. An oldie but goodie.

Here is Amergin’s poem in your honor. The poem teaches us to be flexible in our means but inflexible in our determination to break our bonds of slavery. For Whites to gain freedom, we will need such wisdom. The most radical idea in the world right now is that Whites have the right of Sovereignty and Self determination.

I AM the wind which breathes upon the sea,
I am the wave of the ocean,
I am the murmur of the billows,
I am the ox of the seven combats,
I am the vulture upon the rocks,
I am a beam of the sun,
I am the fairest of plants,
I am a wild boar in valour,
I am a salmon in the water,
I am a lake in the plain,
I am a word of science,
I am the point of the lance in battle,
I am the God who creates in the head the fire.
Who is it who throws light into the meeting on the mountain?
Who announces the ages of the moon?
Who teaches the place where couches the sun?

I meant that the Iron Cross was the highest honor just like the Purple heart.

JHK is correct about how The Donald speaks. He sounds like an old tape recording that skips and keeps repeating. Listen closely and you realize he doesn’t actually say anything of substance and stays away from using polysyllables (one reason why the average stupid American is a big fan).

No one in the media has yet to explain how The Donald would accomplish any of the nutty things he talks about. Some of his ideas are illegal and some are only under the purview of Congress, not the president. I think debates will finally do him in, although if he and Bernie were the nominees, Bernie would win in a heartbeat.

Whites may want BIG families but can Whites afford more than one or two children?
Whites are taxed in order to fund the undertow.

From Paul Kerseys site, This woman weighs 910 pounds and had to be removed from her apartment window because of her girth. Of course, it’s a vile negress.

I post this here as I feel it is an excellent iconic example of the burden that blacks have become for White humans.

All that filthy fat was paid for by Whitey (junk food via EBT), and then White firemen and tax dollars have to come to even get her out of her own apartment.

Groids gorge themselves on the system, then Humans have to come bail them out.

Malthus, you identify ‘White Firemen’, but for how long? The only real middle class left in NYC are white firemen and white policemen, most of whom live with intact families in neat, well kept neighborhoods over on Staten Island. As such, it is one of Mayor Di Blassio’s stated main initiatives to make the NYPD and NYFD less white, or to remove whites altogether. That guy really is a piece of work. Here’s a stat for you. White population in the Bronx, 1925: 95%. White population in the Bronx, 2015: 4%. The question is, who are these 4%? I try to avoid NYC now, from what I read in the Post and Daily News it is reverting back into the toilet and becoming the lawless craphole it was under Mayor Dinkins.

Their Left and their Right are both on the same side: for Israel and either against America or only for America to the extent it is for Israel.

That’s pretty elementary BRH. You have to try harder. The worst aspect of Trump is his Zionism. The vast majority of Jews are against him, but the very well placed know he is on their side. So you know people like that, eh? Very telling.

Actually, it doesn’t look good. I just listened to Mikhail Leontyev – the guy, who heads PR department of Sechin, the President of Rosneft and, probably, the second most powerful guy in the Kremlin hierarchy.
His exact words: “In 2008, America started crisis and made entire world pay for it. This time, China started the crisis and America will have to pay for it”.

I personally don’t like that Leontyev guy, he is apparently hard alcoholic, but the guy is definitely in the know and he was gloating. It appears that Chinese and Russians managed to put some mechanisms in place to prevent FED from another money-printing escapade, or even, lowering interest rates – they’re too getting hurt on their dollar-denominated foreign reserves.

I just finished Rise and Fall of the Third Reich today. A fantastic piece of historical writing. I read Mein Kamph many decades ago. What title from Buchanan do you suggest?

        • Q. Shtik August 25, 2015 at 11:34 pm #

Otherwise I’ll be reading Blood Meridian which my son-in-law insists I must read.

            What’s that about?

I recommend “The Unnecessary War”. Buchanan’s focuses on Hitler’s tremendous admiration for England and how he desperately attempted to avoid the War – even once it has begun. Witness his letting the trapped English army at Dunkirk escape back to England. In short, Buchanan’s position approaches our own White Nationalist one. And of course he discusses the brutal Versailles Treaty and its unfairness to Germany.

I recommend all Cormac McCarthy’s work.

BTW, I found that reading ‘Empire of the Summer Moon’ complemented ‘Blood Meridian: Or the Evening Redness in the West’ nicely. It illuminates what the west was like *before* it was won and why.

Fantastic writing? Just like the N.Y Times? So it must be true, then right? Because the writing is so good and because as Keats said, In Beauty there is Truth and in Truth, Beauty?

That equation is only true at a high metaphysical level. Down here, it aint necessarily so. In fact, the beautiful women is more often a liar and snake than the plain girl. And is the ugly woman even better again? By no means: she is often corrupted by her misfortune just as the Beauty by her good fortune. For one everything is too easy. And for the other, everything is too hard.

Thus social harmony is promoted by nurturing the middle. Therefore, vote Trump.

          • Q. Shtik August 26, 2015 at 4:34 pm #

The above is a classical example of Janos Skorenzy rationalization … how the hell you can jump from ‘Rise & Fall’ to beautiful, average and ugly women in one paragraph and conclude from it that we should “vote Trump” is a mystery.

Err, in 2007 Obama was in the same poll percentage against Hillary as Sanders is now. Oh, we are talking national polls now. Who thought Obama with 25% national support in 2007 would defeat Hillary who had 48%?

On August 22, 2007, Gallup showed Hillary earning a similar 48 percent [what she is polling today] among Democrats. Then-Sen. Barack Obama was polling 25 percent, around where Sanders is almost exactly eight years later.

I suppose you were one of those in 2007 who didn’t think Obama had a chance? Maybe you supported a loser like McCain? Or later a loser like Romney?

This is huge: Trump is for Christmas and strongly against those who are against Christmas.

I remind you all: Constantine was a barbarian too. But he saw a giant Cross in the sky and a voice said, “In this sign conquer.” And so he did. I think he was baptized before his death, but not when he had his vision.

    • Buck Stud August 26, 2015 at 9:57 am #

Trump plays the role of barbarian in order to appeal to voters such as yourself. It’s all theater–professional wrestling, speaking of “barbarians”!– and right now Trump is the “Mad Dog Vachon” of the political world.

I’m surprised you have not seen through the charade yet and instead have been seduced by what you believe are real live unrehearsed body slams. But then again, some still believe in Christmas and Santa Claus too.

But don’t you wonder when the other shoe of Trump will drop?

      • Janos Skorenzy August 26, 2015 at 3:14 pm #

You could well be right. I’ve admitted all along that Trump may be playing us. But he has done immense good already by making the talking heads talk about the key issue of our times.

The Jews hate him and are openly talking about assassination. But the richest Jews just smile – they know that Trump is surrounded by Jews and is a great Philo-Semite.

Is Trump in danger? The Jews have a track record of assassination. They did in the National Socialist Huey Long. And no individual has ever been for a more radical plan of wealth redistribution than Huey Long.

Where is the problem with this possibility? In recent history we’ve had a gangster’s bitch, a Hollywood actor, an idiot, and a foreign national. Look. The U.S.A. and all of its people are still just as great as the propaganda proclaims.

I must echo JS’s recommendation of “Churchill, Hitler and the Unnecessary War.” It is a fantastic book–Buchanan’s finest. It forced me to reexamine the things I thought I knew about WWII–the things most of us were taught in American schools. It’s a national sport to hate on Richard Nixon. Yet even his harshest critics would not consider him a lightweight on geopolitical matters. Nixon had the highest regard for Buchanan’s intellect. During much of his time wandering in the political wilderness before his ’68 comeback, Buchanan was his only aide. Highly recommended. By the way, it’s about 1/4 the length of Shirer’s R&F. Much easier on your back!

Nixon opened China? Or isn’t it more like he opened America to Chinese rapacity? How many millions – or is tens of millions – of jobs have been lost? How much have we lost in trade balances – all so a very few Americans (in name only) can profit.

Trump’s strong stance on trade balances in another reason to vote for him. No one else in public life has been talking about this – and he has been for many years. And yes, it’s just another word for that nation builder, the tariff. Marx was against the tariff because it preserved nations. He was for free trade of course because it destroyed nations and helped bring on the Revolution.

Give Nixon a break…he “opened China” only to screw the Russians (Godless Commies), and he did, indeed, light them up.

Screwing your own country in order to screw another is not wise.

Domestically, he was an Anti-Semite and Racist afraid to stand up for his principles, bowing to these at every turn while he internally dissented. Typical Republican turncoat of his time. Now they do it without internal dissent, in fact they are gleeful.

  105. FincaInTheMountains August 26, 2015 at 5:55 am #

And then came that wonderful moment when Chinese factories built using American and European money had to start paying dividends back to those Americans and Europeans, under the control of the Supervisory Board of the foreign investors.

China, in other words, was controlled by those who were paying for the development of its industry. And there was no opportunity to throw these people out of business, China does not carry nationalization.

And it’s true – in China they carry out … the collapse of stock exchanges. One unfortunate day, the Shanghai Stock Exchange fell by 3.7% initially, and then to 8% and reaching as far as 40% (per month). Consultants threw up their hands and told investors that “the market is overheated,” and it happens. Investors are asked in a panic to dump their shares at a third of the cost.

Then with a sly squint Chinese Pension Fund came into the market (imagine how many pensioners are in China!!!) and bought all at basement-bargain prices. On the cheap. Now it will manage the businesses and receive dividends.

China thus “punishes” Western speculators trying to influence its policy through financial instruments. The fact that this policy is very effective and painful for the West, says that attempts to influence China have spilled over from the economic area into terrorism.

I mean the recent explosions in Tianjin and Zibo. However, China has demonstrated that it could speak this language as well on equal terms. Counter explosions in Texas, Indiana, and recently at the American military base in Japan leave no doubt in this.

“The unnecessary war? What a joke! Didn’t Germany declare war on the United States Dec. 8, 1941, the day after Pearl Harbor? From our point of view that kind of made the war necessary, wouldn’t you agree?” -brh

Not if Roosevelt maneuvered Japan into attacking us first. A good place to begin to examine that possibility is “Day of Deceit: The Truth About FDR and Pearl Harbor” by Robert B. Stinnett. For background on just how isolationist America was prior to Pearl Harbor, read “Lindbergh vs. Roosevelt: The Rivalry That Divided America” by James P. Duffy and “Those Angry Days: Roosevelt, Lindbergh, and America’s Fight Over World War II, 1939-1941” by Lynne Olson.

Once Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, the dominoes began to fall into place for Roosevelt and Churchill. Japan was one of three signatories of a defensive military alliance known as the Tripartite Pact (aka the Berlin Pact), along with Germany and Italy (Axis). Once Japan declared war on the U.S. (and the British Empire), the pact “propelled, although it did not require, a similar declaration of war from all other signatories of the Tripartite Pact.” (Wikipedia) Germany actually declared war on the United States on Dec. 11, 1941.

The elites always get their wars and way. Should we be surprised?

    • Janos Skorenzy August 26, 2015 at 3:04 pm #

Google it? That’s not very nice after all I’ve done for you.

Hitler was a fanatical Anglophile. Everyone agrees on that. England was never in danger from Hitler. As I related before, he even attempted peace once the war had started. And late into war Herr Hess flew to Scotland in a last desperate attempt to save something out of the utter carnage. Apparently he acted alone in this, holding his life and reputation in small regard next to the gravity of the task.

Does your R&F talk about Hitler’s love of Britain – ruled by the best Germanic blood from one invasion after another? If not, it is a well polished lie, isn’t it? Without a true foundation, whatever truths it contains are just there to reinforce the lying foundation.

    @ Pucker & Co.:

“A Must Read: “The Modern Mercenary” by Sean McFate. . . McFate says that in the future nation states will no longer have a monopoly on the use of force as PMCs will start to contract out their services to private corporations, NGos, and private individuals in what McFate describes as “Neomedievalism”. According to McFate, in the Middle Ages, mercenary armies were quite common and states did not have a monopoly on force.”-pucker.

    Nice reference Pucker.

Mercenary activity is problematic for both client and vendor. Niccolo Machiavelli outlined the problem from the standpoint of the client in “The Prince” and Robert Greene did likewise from the vendor standpoint in “The 48 Laws of Power”.

An increase in mercenary army and ‘gun-for-hire’ activity is a symptom of organizational disintegration, and indicative of military weakness, not strength.

In addition, the element of ‘moral hazard’ comes strongly into play when opposing sides are both using mercs: The temptation for the mercs to make a side-deal among themselves is irresistible, then things get extra fancy and nobody ever actually wins (because who wants to kill a cash-cow)… Meanwhile, the rest of the world may be playing for keeps and getting good at it, leaving the merc-dependent idiots dangling at crunch time.

The Mormon Church has decided to stay with the Boy Scouts. Thus they can now be considered to have fallen to the Dark Force. Decent people don’t take those kind of risks with their children.

In other news, Gay Black man guns down co-workers. The Jackals immediately call for gun control. We don’t have a gun problem in this country, we have a Black problem.

We’ve got this huge Mormon Temple going up in town here, must be costing tens of millions. I mean, it is massive! Odd thing is, no services will be held in it; it simply establishes their presence amongst us. Like my brother says, at least it ain’t a fukk-n Mosque! True enough. But I’m wondering what their next move will be, these Mormons. Take over the town council? Ban coffee? Shut down he local taverns? I’m reminded how Zane Grey hammered the Mormons in almost all his books, which sold millions, allowing Zane to spend his life deep sea fishing, out Hemingway-ing even Hemingway. The trouble is, Zane Grey’s granddaughter and great granddaughter are neighbors.

“They”? I do not believe the government other than us. It is not made up of aliens, or lizards, or greys, or any such thing foreign to ourselves.

In America the government is made up of Americans. In other words, the American government is of the people, by the people, and for the people. That is why this has been such a great country. We have great people. We really do. The American government is great.

Just ask Donald Trump. He is going find those great people for his administration. He will find the best people. The first day of Trump’s administration he is going to use the greatest people he finds to deport 11 millions “illegals” (so fast your head will spin) and Trump is going to build a very long wall (it will be huge, the best wall ever) using the greatest (white) American workers available. It is just a question of good management and Trump has proven he can get things done.

The American government will make sure those things are done, very quickly, very efficiently, because government is of the people, by the people, for the people and we have really great people. The best.

Trump has promised we will make America great again. He cannot do it alone. He will do it using government, real Americans, real American government. It’s called management. Believe Trump’s promises. Believe in Trump. He has the masses in his sway, the media obsessed.

JHK, is right. Trump will be worse than Hitler. Hitler did not have nukes to incinerate whole populations. Trump will have. It will be huge. North Korea? Iran? ISIS? China? Russia? No problem. World population reduced. Three billion dead. Hitler will pale by comparison to Trump. None of that political correctness shit. China has sold US Treasuries in the amount of 106 billion dollars in just 2 weeks. This is a huge amount for such a short time, since the beginning of this year, the Chinese got rid of US securities in the amount 107 billion dollars – that is in 7 months.

If the current rate of Treasuries sales will continue, and China will sell about $100 billion every two weeks, it will get rid of all US obligations in about 18 weeks.

The process of dumping of US Treasuries started in the beginning of August, when China devalued the Yuan and being explained by Chinese Central Bank currency interventions to support Yuan exchange rate.

I didn’t even know her when she first sent me a FB friend request other that seeing her occasional posts on a public group that we both frequented. But that changed over the last 15 months. I learned that ‘she had to start living life for herself’ and that she was filing for a divorce from her husband. I learned that she had moved in with her mom and spouse and that she had landed a job at a bagel store. I learned that she didn’t make much money and she was always going on about how she needed a roommate in order to afford an apartment. But cost didn’t deter her from commissioning a tattoo artist to place a ‘black rose’ in a very revealing locale just north of Nipple Land which she immediately and proudly displayed on FB. I also learned that her husband was not taking the divorce very well and had threatened suicide. Meanwhile, amidst all of this potential turmoil, she made no bones about how she couldn’t wait to get her fair share of the house sale proceeds (and yes, Hubby was the sole bread-winner during their marriage).

I learned a couple of weeks ago that her husband had died. I never inquired as to why or how because I had made a point of ignoring her personal message requests which, to be quite frank, were not just a few.

For a few days after the death she posted platitude after platitude both personal and also from the typical generic sources.” RIP Bill; you were a great father to our children!” was just one of the back-handed comments she left.

A day after the funeral–yes, she posted the funeral info on FB too–she headed back up to her old home which had not yet sold and started posting uplifting dance music from the 70’s on her FB timeline. Clearly, her week of grieving was over and it was time to start turning grooving again.

Today I learned that she and her daughter were returning back to her mom’s house but not before the both of them stopped off at a tattoo shop for some more “body art” which once again was posted on FB. (I wondered to myself if some of the deceased hubby’s cash was paying for the tattoos.)

I also learned something about myself I suppose. I learned that I felt absolutely no remorse in not sending her a condolence message. Something about that glint of anticipatory greed from future house sale proceeds lurking behind black garments of masquerading grief was just too much falsity for me to stomach, hence my silence.

When I think of her a hyena comes to mind, yelping with pleasure in new beds and with new strangers.

Boiled down, I iced that contemptible bitch and will continue to do so. And yet, I will probably continue to read her saga. I suppose I am a sucker for the ridiculous spectacle of a nearly 60 yr old woman trying to recapture earlier days perhaps never really lived. In fact, she has already informed her FB friends–in so many words– that next year she will not be inconvenienced by tragedy, and Sturgis, South Dakota, her she comes..

      Who cares?

  127. FincaInTheMountains August 27, 2015 at 2:24 am #

Over seven years since 2008 with the growth of the economy (GDP) nearly 80%, China’s stock index lost over the same period to about 33%.

With US GDP growth in the same period by only 7% the S&P500 grew up by 38%, and by 157% compared to the crisis low point.

That is how adequate stock index relates to economic development. These figures perfectly illustrate exactly who is in fact a “weak link”.

If we digress from the fantasies of financial analysts, we fully understand what is happening in reality. China produces real wealth in ever increasing amounts, thereby creating a new real money supply, secured by tangible assets. This money supply then flows to the West, settling in the financial instruments of these countries and ensuring tranquility in the stock and debt markets.

Once we understand this, it becomes clear why China is now “appointed” the main culprit for all the ills of the world’s finances. The slowdown of its economy from 9-10 to 7 per cent a year against the backdrop of accelerating growth trend of the total debts of the Western economies, primarily the United States, is really a threat to the markets. At some point (and it is coming) new real money supply, produced by China, will no longer be enough even for simple refinancing of existing debt.

US Banking Giant Citigroup Moves Massive Gold Reserves To Russia

A curious Ministry of Finance (MoF) report circulating in the Kremlin today says that the Central Bank of Russia (CBR) has “accepted for protection” 3 million ounces of gold worth over $3.5 billion from US banking and financial services giant Citigroup along with a further nearly $100 billion in cash.

According to this report, 1.4 million ounces of this now protected gold in the vaults of the CBR were shipped directly from Venezuela after this past April’s complex agreement between that South American nation and Citigroup, with the remaining 1.6 million ounces coming from various countries this banking and financial service giant has cut ties with in the past year and a half.

MoF does note that the gold and monies “accepted for protection” by the CBR from Citigroup now exist under Federation laws and are not allowed to be claimed by any foreign entity, including the United States.

I never cared for Shirer’s Rise and fall of the Third Reich. Very one-sided, and he’s reported a lot of false stories. Also, I like a better overview of things.
Books I’ve liked are by Len Deighton, Blood, Tears, and Folly: An Objective Look at WWII. It’s a good study of politics, war making, and the goals of Hitler and the allies. I like how he spent a chapter on oil, stating that the Nazis never had the access to oil the allies had. Hitler did with Russia, but when he invaded Russia, that stopped that. JHK argued as much. Deighton states Hitler offered people a heroic purpose in life, and the reds never did that, or when they did, it was a class war that meant to eliminate the middle class, military, and small shopkeepers. These people didn’t want that. They liked a little bit of socialism, but not the international Marxist kind.
      Another good book is Blitzkrieg.
The idea that Hitler spared the British army at Dunkirk so as to get a better deal from Britain isn’t true. The Germans still had to deal with the French army, most of Belgian in that area wasn’t amenable to heave armored activity, and Goering insisted the Luftwaffe would handle the British. The Germans were surprised the British could evacuate troops.
As for Hitler declaring war on America, it was unusual, since he considered declarations of war out of date, but remember in summer of 1941, Roosevelt issued a shoot-on-sight order to all U-Boats. The US destroyer Reuben James was sunk by a U-Boat it was chasing. So, really, by autumn of 1941, we were at all purposes at war with Hitler. And America didn’r know? Doh!
Another author I like is Sebastian Haffner. The Meaning of Hitler is an excellent study of Hitler, only 165 pages. He was a journalist who left Germany because his wife was Jewish. Haffner has a very good overview of Hitler. An example:
‘The point is that Hitler’s successes were never scored against a strong or even a tough opponent: even the Weimar Republic of the late twenties and Britain in 1940 proved too strong for him. More particularly, he never possessed the inventiveness or suppleness which may enable a weaker contestant to outmanoeuvre and defeat a stronger one…All his successes were scored against opponents who were unable or unwilling to offer real resistance…Hitler invariably toppled what was tottering and killed what was already dying…he also threw away his chance of uniting Europe, a chance never to return, and of making it accept Germany’s hegemony through such unification, magnified that mistake to gigantic proportions. It is odd that, even today, this gigantic mistake still scarcely figures in the literature on Hitler…he described himself as a man ‘who always knew only one thing: strike, strike, and strike again’-a self characterization intended as self-praise but in reality a self-accusation, maybe even an exaggerated one.’

I also enjoyed reading Frederich Spott’s Hitler and the Power of Aesthetics. It discusses Hitler the artist, and argues Hitler was really two people: the determined killer and an artist, although not a very
deep one. It’s interesting that Hitler was obsessed with opera. We know about Wagner, but he also kept drawing designs for opera houses, and when he was a young man in Vienna, almost became an apprentice to a set designer, but got cold feet and ran away. Even during wartime, he insisted cultural performances continue, and intended to have free performances so people could see opera.
In a sense, the Third Reich was a kind of grand opera.
I admit I see his plans for a redesigned Berlin (‘Germania’), and although, as JHK said, much of it is exaggerated art deco, a lot of it is appealing, certainly moreso than our modern crappy corporate architecture. Also, Hitler wished to retire in Linz and enjoy a vast art collection (much of it stolen) and redesign Linz.
Hitler is still one of history’s most fascinating personalities. Mein Kampf is, after the Bible, the most translated book in the world.

So, is Trump Hitler? Trump articulates a lot of popular dissent, like Hitler did. Germans in 1933 did NOT want to be communist, much like now, we DON’T want millions of foreigners overrunning the country. There are economic, racial, and cultural problems people are concerned, but the system (either party) tells them to shut up,
or plays to them to get elected, then it’s forgotten.
Trump telling off Ramos in the press conference is exactly how millions of us feel. We’re not dangerous racists. We’ve just had enough.
Trump is a bullshitter, and Americans like bullshitters, ordinary guys who speak their minds. Like Reagan or Clinton. Is Obama a bullshitter? I think he’s an NPR listener’s idea of a bullshitter.
If we get Jeb Bush, we’ll get the system’s man, one who once declared himself part of a minority. Trump, again, is someone who has exposed the system’s inability to respond to change. Now, we’re in election year mode, so NOTHING will be discussed or done, because we’re obsessed with the two-party mantra.
Sorry to be so long and compete with JHK’s commentary.

This is pure BS. The majority of latin american ILLEGAL immigrants are the dregs. Little to no education. They come here without a pot to piss in, to do menial labor. Yeah, it’s hard work, and the bar to entry is rolling around on the ground. Without a pot to piss in or legal status they begin to have children, many children that they can’t care for without state assistance (USC children are entitled to a plethora of benefits). Their is no notion of responsible family planning. The husband’s hard demeaning work of long hours and a dingy apartment with braying babies leads him to escapism through alcohol. He drives drunk, beats his spouse (this is their, the uneducated dregs of Latin America, way). Migrant workers typically maintain families, and children with multiple partners in both countries. Mom gets a job doing linens in a hotel, feeding all those kids costs money despite the welfare . Kids are alone in shitty neighborhoods, they often join gangs. These are truths. Janos: Hitler’s exact feelings about America: ‘I find an Englishman a thousand time preferable to an American…I feel the deepest hatred and revulsion towards anything American. In its whole outlook America is a half-Jewish, half-Negroid society…The German Reich has 270 opera houses and a richer cultural life than is known there. Basically Americans live like pigs in a well-tiled sty, unable to see beyond the waves of skyscrapers. They lack the German feeling for nature and are completely bereft of any sense of Romanticism. Indian lore is the only source of Romanticism the North American has. And it is interesting that the best portrayer of this is none other than a German.’ (Referring to the German writer Karl May, who wrote a ton of westerns, a favorite childhood author of Hitler).

I don’t think the Tea Party are the simpering morons most of you think they are. The movement has some valid concerns and effectively pulled the Republicans back to some of their conservative roots, but they’re easily manipulated, and the GOP leadership treats them like most groups who are culturally conservative; good enough for votes, then they get dumped. A lot of them are like Americans from my youth…they kind of buy into the traditional pull of country and mores, and just want someone to bring back the good old days. The hatred and repulsion people have for them creeps me out. The Tea Party really isn’t that radical. I notice at all their rallies they are overwhelmingly white, but have tons of black and Neocon speakers, or real boneheads like Glen Beck. Most of them also never met a war they didn’t like. But compared to the usual bundle of lefties, I’ll take my tea with sugar, please.

Yes Conservatives are encouraged to accept Blacks as a sacred or priestly class exactly as Leftists have. This effort has largely been successful with even the Communist Martin Luther King accepted as a “great conservative”.

I daresay the author is guilty of catharsis and sublimation in relation to ancestry.

Corporal Hitler spent 4 years in the trenches — facing the British. But he was well aware it was the AEF under Pershing that halted Ludendorf’s last great advance on Paris in March 1918, driving the German army back toward the Rhine, ending Germany’s hope of ever winning the Great War.

The US Army didn’t have too much trouble with the Germans in 1918 or in 1944. IMO the Germans proved to be paper tigers, good at crushing small countries and murdering civilians, not so good when squared off against formidable opponents like the British, the Russians or the USA .

Diabolical Adolf wanted to nuke NYC in 1946. As luck would have it, the war ended to thwart the sinister plot. A stealth bomber prototype, the Horten 2-29 stealth fighter was successfully flown in 1945. The bomb technology was known. The FW 200 Condor made the first non-stop trans-atlantic flight in 1938, from Germany to NYC, no doubt testing the waters under the disguise of bearing olive branches.

Donald does not want to destroy cities, he wants to protect them. Rumor has it, if elected he will build, courtesy of the US Army Corps of Engineers, a 25 ft seawall around Manhatten to protect it from sea level rise.

Ramos seems to be the only one standing up to the new Hitler, using facts and common sense. Ramos said Trump is promoting a deportation plan that is financially unsustainable and logistically unachievable.

“What he is trying to sell to the American public simply doesn’t work, How is he going to deport 11 million people — by bus, by plane? Is he going to bring the army to do that?”

Ramos said Trump’s deportation plan would cost an estimated $12,500 per immigrant, meaning the reality TV star’s strategy to force 11 million undocumented immigrants out of the country would cost an estimated $137 billion.

Trump’s proposed wall on the U.S.-Mexico border is “absurd,” Ramos added, given that “almost 40 percent off all immigrants come by plane and overstay their visas.”

When asked about his previous comments calling Trump the “loudest voice of intolerance, hatred, and division” in the U.S., Ramos doubled down: “When you say immigrants from Mexico are criminals and rapists, isn’t that spreading hate?”

China Sells U.S. Treasuries to Support Yuan

China has cut its holdings of U.S. Treasuries this month to raise dollars needed to support the yuan in the wake of a shock devaluation two weeks ago, according to people familiar with the matter.

The People’s Bank of China has been offloading dollars and buying yuan to support the exchange rate, a policy that’s contributed to a $315 billion drop in its foreign-exchange reserves over the last 12 months.

I think there is little doubt now that China entered a full-fledged economic war against the United States, using Russian military-political cover. Some serious events await us during September-October timeframe.

10 missile regiments of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces entered the combat patrol routes during the exercises that are going to be held between August 25 and September 26.

The US is rediscovering the real Russian nuclear threat, that imposes political and economic constraints on the Empire of Good that are incompatible with its life.

Modern Russian nuclear threat makes the United States to make a thorough and disappointing test of its own nuclear triad: outdated submarines without the resources and ability to carry many months of combat duty, old planes without the resources and most importantly, 60-year-old ballistic missiles of which some parts are falling off under the force of gravity. Reports by American technicians say that many of them will blow right in the silos, for this reason, Americans stopped test launches of ballistic missiles, because their condition are clear enough.

This is garbage and it is cheaper to keep it on fake alert than to get rid of it. It is also necessary to understand some of the subtleties: the production of nuclear weapons and their carriers were placed in the hands of private corporations on the basis of “an acceptable quality for acceptable price” and the ability to corrupt state bureaucrats in numerous military selection committees.

Americans are mostly ahistorical. Britain and France declared war on Germany in September of 1939, not vice versa. Danzig, a prussian port city, had essentially been ripped away from Germany and given to the poles after WW1 against the will of the the German speaking population of the city. In 1939, the population voted to return to being part of Germany and a request of the Poles was made. This was denied so the Germans took it back by force and the Brits and Frogs declared war on Germany. With war declared, there was no reason not to attempt to return to preWW1 borders and incorporate all Germans into one greater Germany. AGAIN, BRITAIN AND FRANCE DECLARED WAR ON GERMANY, NOT VICE VERSA.

The ascension of an arrogant prick like Donald Trump really highlights not just the mentality of the political right, but also the political apathy and ignorance of the American public.

People sense that something is wrong, that their standard of living, their neighborhood, their city, state, and country is not the same as it was a mere 10 years ago, and they are right.

Like being on a slow, sinking ship the fear starts to kick in. People in a state of fear resort to thinking and behaving on a primitive level. Along comes Donald Trump, a despicable spoiled brat who is also sensing that his little empire is ending, and is showing signs of losing his mind.

People that still have jobs trot off to their menial jobs, where employers and macho manager thrive on the job scarcity to threaten, harass, and intimidate people into working harder and harder for less and less. Ulcers, insomnia, hernias, stroke level blood pressures, anxiety are some of the pleasantries that more and more are experiencing by the new slave driver mentality of the would be Donald Trumps. Pricks that get paid a little extra to make people work harder and harder with no raise, no mercy, no gratitude, no respect.

These people who are being worked to a premature death see other people that get public assistance get housing for free while they struggle to pay their mortgage (those who haven’t lost their homes already), they see them get medical are for free while many of them either go without care because they cannot afford the out of pocket expenses or if they do seek care, the healthcare criminals want them to pay out the ass to make up for those who get care for free either voluntarily with out of pocket expenses or involuntarily, by being sued and going bankrupt when they do not have enough money left over after paying that mortgage to pay that 100,000 dollar out of pocket medical bill because they had the audacity to get sick or injured. And there seems to be no shortage of bottom feeding, scum sucking parasites called lawyers who have no shame and are willing to make their living suing for the banks, creditors, healthcare criminals. These are some of the people that the decimated middle class should be focusing their anger at. Lawyers. Creditors. Banks. Managers. Politicians. Illegal immigrants did not run up an actual debt of 220 trillion dollars, outsource our manufacturing base and good paying jobs, deplete the resources needed for endless growth, create massive trade imbalances, bring on the collapse of the US dollar, or as we are soon to find out, the wholesale collapse of the US economy and the end of industrialization of America.

Instead of focusing anger at the real cause of their demise and the swine that facilitated it, along comes this human turd Trump to champion their misdirected anger. A guy who boasts about dropping out of college and becoming this great, self made man. He doesn’t mention that his father left him some 340 million dollars, so we have a dickhead spoiled brat that was placed on third base but claims to have hit a triple. Those illegal immigrants (who according to Trump, speak Mexican) did not result in the economic disaster and the energy cataclysm that will follow, but by focusing his shallow pea brain on a scape goat, he can get the flag waving morons that think somehow he can “make America great” again along with those who lost their jobs or are struggling and are soon to lose their jobs to rally behind him because he channels his hatred against these brown people whom the wounded and dying middle class perceive as getting hand outs.

Now we are getting a lesson in the utter ignorance of the self described right wingers in the declining shit hole of a nation and what the real motives have been behind the republican base of support. Supposedly, at the end of a Trump rally in Alabama, the 20,000 that attended (FOX news claimed 40,000) they broke into a chant “white power”. Even if the Trump types get their real wishes (and make no mistake about it, is to kill those illegal immigrants that Trump says Mexico is sending over…..like as if they aren’t coming on their own accord) those other problems that should be addressed, the debt, resource depletion and the end of growth, peak oil and the collapse of industrialized society, or the collapse of the US in general will still remain and are not simply just going to go away.

But rest assured, more and more FOX news types and right winged politicians are testing the waters of public tolerance by talking about gutting medicare and social security. Some say this is because the neocons already stole people’s social security to fund their illegal wars, and are trying to soft pedal this crime by talk about “privatizing” it. Rand Paul made no secret about his plans to cut funds for it. So their racial issues aside, we now see that after minorities are put in their place, the next group they have their eyes set on are the poor, elderly, and disabled. According to Dr Paul Craig Roberts, the “father of Reaganomics”, both the democrats and republicans have every intention of going after people’s pensions when there is nothing left to steal. Dmitry Orlov noted that the US is behaving like the former USSR did just before it collapsed by setting out to steal anything and everything they could from anyone and everyone they could. We see that in the US with the cops on steroids with all the scale backs in services and bankruptcies and they try to force people to use up their retirement savings. The retirement system is doomed to fail in the US, but the vile, despicable maggots have no shame and are making it increasingly clear that they plan to steal it as well as cut food assistance programs (over half the people that receive them are children)

So illegal immigrants, the poor, the disabled, the elderly, and children. These are the people that the Donald Trumps of the word and their submoronic, hopelessly ignorant, vile, hate filled supporters want to blame for problems that they themselves created.

I don’t place much faith in politics, but we who see the larger picture should start to mobilize and get any and all unregistered voters who are going to be scapegoated by these Nazi like pricks to get out and clobber this SOB should he win the repug nomination. The question on people’s minds should not be illegal immigrants but who would be most likely to show compassion and keep life support systems open for all, because the US is gong to collapse on his or her watch. The last thing we need is Trump, Bush, or the standard issue neocons. I don’t care for Clinton, and it has nothing to do with Benghazi or e-mails and everything to do with being a cheerleader for US foreign policy as well as a puppet of other countries and Monsanto, but keep this motto in mind and spread the word far and wide. Anybody but Trump (or Bush) in 2016.

    • michigan_native August 28, 2015 at 9:30 am #

Also, what asshole Trump didn’t mention was going after the people that hire illegal immigrants. If there was not work here for them, the incentive to come here would be null and void. His silence on that one may stem from the fact the he himself supposedly had many illegals build his hotels or whatever and one of the ones he is presently building has illegal immigrants working on it. But you will never hear the gutless weasel go after his own, its too easy to blame fictitious scape goats, like illegal immigrants, those receiving food assistance, the poor. Rest assured, when that fails to arrest the collapse, it will be the disabled and the elderly. If people are stupid enough to allow this prick to ascend to power, they will have lost the one thing that the 1% could not have robbed from them. Their mora integrity and their dignity, but then again, it’s hard to believe they had any to begin with by even thinking about supporting a racist, hate filled colossal asshole like Trump

Same shit, different day. You don’t like the message, so attack the messenger with a label, “socialist”. Based on the fact that I think Trump is a spoiled brat and has used his money to bully people. You are probably one of those losers who would appear on the apprentice and suck his little dick “yes, Mr Trump”. Fuck that. And I reiterate, the agenda and the mentality of these republican right winged sons of bitches is now clear for all to see. Illegals, children, the elderly, the poor and disabled as their empire and standard of living erodes. They could have collapsed with some sense of dignity intact, but it doesn’t look like that is going to happen. Bernie Sanders? The inbreds from the south and those who shovel pig shit in the farming states will use the same tactic of labeling “socialist Jew” and the hate mongers would never allow him to start a New Deal, to put people to work making a new world built by hand, a new economy based on sustainability, and de-industrialize in conditions that are safe and dignified where everyone has access to food, shelter, transportation, and security. The first response to our collapse is to focus on scape goats, like illegal immigrants. So that proves there is no hope that we can muddle through this without a lot of misery, suffering, and violence

Make no mistake, Gentlemen, for the USA to survive, it will embrace socialism, and even to a greater extent than it does now. Capitalism, for most, is a failure. 330+ millions of people to feed and house. The well-paying jobs are not coming back in numbers significant to this problem. 200+ million… Employ them, feed/house them, or kill them…options are limited. I personally have benefitted under Capitalism…would be great to see it continue for the benefit of the majority of the population…sadly, it cannot…the fowl of Malthus have come home to roost.

So even if Trump doesn’t win, the focus went to illegal immigrants instead of collapse mitigation. I didn’t think he stood a snowball’s chance in hell. I thought do the math. I highly doubt a single Hispanic voter will vote for him, well maybe some of the far right winged race traitors in Miami. Few Afro Americans would vote for him save maybe some of the Uncle Tom types typified in that movie Django. I thought few women would vote for a chauvinist pig, but some of them like to be treated like shit. I thought no working class/blue collar workers, but many are lulled by the resentment they feel about other’s getting handouts while they bust their ass. I see their point, I am in a similar bind struggling to pay the mortgage and have health issues that I have put off because of the out of pocket co-pays, but that is hardly enough to get me to vote for a colossal asshole and dickhead like Donald Trump.

And you know whatever party is in, when the collapse is not arrested and there is nothing left to steal, they will go after pensions and people’s retirement savings. Trump is not the right man for a post collapse America.

        • Janos Skorenzy August 28, 2015 at 1:59 pm #

Shows how little you know. Many Hispanics will vote for him. Even the ones who came illegally might not want the process to continue – because it will lead to America becoming just another Latin American cesspool. And the ones who came here legally tend know it even more. They don’t want what they escaped from following them here.

          • michigan_native August 30, 2015 at 7:13 am #

Actually, it shows how little you know about what the US will become like in a post collapse, fossil fuel depleted wasteland. No more cars, very little jobs, assholes like you whose momma didn’t give them enough attention or never got laid blame your shortcomings on scapegoats and so have the time to post in here 24/7 with the same diatribes.

Industrialized society will soon no longer be possible for the US, like it or not, engage in whatever form of denial you suck on like your momma’s titties that should have breast fed you else you would not be obsessed with malice and hatred. So let’s find scapegoats, let’s blame illegals, Arabs, children on food stamps, the Russians, the Chinese, etc etc. and on and on

They had precious little to do with resource depletion and the end of growth that is resulting, peak oil, exporting our manufacturing base, trade imbalances, and debt that is completely unsustainable. So the collapse of the US dollar when it gets dropped as the world’s de facto currency of international trade, which necessarily includes the international oil trade, from which despite fracking and all these “miracles”, we still need to import 2/3 of our energy needs. There is no magic bullet, and the collapse of the US dollar will be the final nails in the US coffin, from which it will never emerge “great again”, despite all the hot air out of Washington, the military fiascos that are being attempted that will only fail more miserably because the US is broke and imperialism as an energy capture strategy has always been subject to the laws of diminishing returns.

So, with the impending stock market crash and ensuing world wide panic, there will likely be a run on the worthless US dollar, as countries whose portfolios are heavily overweighted with dollars and dollar denominated assets will seek to dump them before others finally lose faith that they can be trusted or have value as a medium of exchange. Oil exporting nations, who will want maximum value for the remaining 50% of oil or less that is ultimately recoverable. are starting to demand gold or currencies backed by something of perceived value. If they do not drop the US dollar altogether, they will demand a basket of currencies, gold, or other commodities for their declining exports

Either way, the US is finished, and the Donald Trumps of the world can do nothing to replenish natural resources, one time gifts from nature that were the “food” for endless growth. The nightmare scenario for the world will be the military solution, which has not been working and will no longer work. Trump and these other dick heads that are still in denial are not the solution

Since we’re engaging in turning aside the eventually fatal cut by guile and misdirection here, I’d say “shit” is more appropriate, Q.

Republican’s are always known for shitting where they eat (or fouling their own nest, if you will). They just figure they’ll always have the wherewithal to purchase or steal a new nest (or dining hall). S.O.P. of the G.O.P.

Now we shall proceed to blather on about dems and doze, and repubs and depubs, cappys and soshis, etc., etc., and ignore how we might ease into contraction rather than collapsing in a blood-soaked heap by building the tottering tower of trump ever higher. Ironclad ideologies aren’t going to feed the horses; flexibility, diversity, inefficiency and serious study just may. (No guarantees of course, but I think the odds are better for *survival of the human species*.) Careful what you wish for, delusionistas, you certainly won’t get it. What you’ll get is horror of the non-fiction type. Lesson never learned, eh?

    Michigan Native,

If you were Latino, would you have crossed the border? Would I? Maybe. Probably even. Their choice is failed states to the south or a failing state to the north. Millions of them think the north is better. At least for now.

The open southern border is no accident. Oligarch-owned Washington will keep it that way. The oligarchs benefit hugely from importing millions of people illegally while offshoring millions of jobs.

Not so sure it all works out in the longer run. You have to be blind to not see the increasingly desperate attempts by the Fed and other central banks to paper over cracks in the financial world. The troubles have as their root the immiserization of the people relied upon to buy products made by Oligarch owned companies. Plus increasingly scarce energy.

The Oligarchs put themselves in a mess IMO. They measure their wealth and claim on resources by numbers in databases. But such claims are good only as long as there are American courts and men with guns willing to enforce them. What happens when those courts and men say fuck it, I’m not doing this anymore?

How many young men are willing to sacrifice their lives for a cause? Quite a few as history shows. But young American men look at their own increasingly dire situation. Why should they defend a regime that works against them?

Not that the Oligarchs would listen to me, but I would urge them to think long and hard about what they’re doing.

I’m still keeping a lookout for these ‘Oligarchs’.

I think most of them are down Fairfield County way, around Greenwich and Westport. So far they haven’t been up here to f-kk with us citizens in Hartford County, as far as I know.

If they do show up with mischief on their minds and malice in their hearts, making the 70 mile trip in their Bentleys — “Drive north Jeeves, and step on it” — I’ll be ready for them, with some hot lead from my ancient Winchester, American Lead, if you will.

“The open southern border is no accident.” –Volodya

    ——————————

The “open” southern border is a myth.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/flow-of-illegal-immigration-slows-as-us-mexico-border-dynamics-evolve/2015/05/27/c5caf02c-006b-11e5-833c-a2de05b6b2a4_story.html

As the Department of Homeland Security continues to pour money into border security, evidence is emerging that illegal immigration flows have fallen to their lowest level in at least two decades. The nation’s population of illegal immigrants, which more than tripled, to 12.2 million, between 1990 and 2007, has dropped by about 1 million, according to demographers at the Pew Research Center.

Besides the border fence, the Border Patrol, and Homeland Security, there are right-wing paramilitary groups patrolling the southern border. It is perhaps the most patrolled and highly defended border anywhere in the world, at least for two closely connected countries at peace with one another. Judging from the border, you’d never know Mexico was a friendly nation linked to the United States by a treaty agreement worth over half a trillion dollars in annual trade.

But the idiot Trump wants to build a big bad unnecessary wall. The data also show that fences don’t keep migrants out, they just keep them from going home. Apparently Trump does not know that there are easier ways to get into the US now.

Mr. Trump, tear down that wall !!!

Tear down the fences. Open the borders. Legalize the immigrants and let’s get on with making America great instead of wasting America’s resources on walls, fences, and security bureaucracy.

Obviously he was a German National Socialist. The German was paramount – perhaps too much so I admit.

I could never be a German National Socialist or “Nazi” because I am not German. Nor do I lament that. The model is sound and can apply, with cultural modifications, to other peoples. One Italian Fascist studied the Founding Fathers and told David Duke that they were Fascists. Entirely apt. Trace back our system via Russell Kirk and Barry Goldwater to men like Edmund Burke, James Stephens, and Thomas Carlyle. Once you understand the roots of our system, you wont have a problem with Fascism at all. We don’t have to use the word or adopt the uniforms, salutes, etc. But we can see the commonality between ourselves and them.

England is more individualistic than the continent and America more so again. And we had the land to allow us to be. But the basics don’t change. And now that the Frontier has closed and the Nation threatened, we must cease to be so individualistic, at least until the crisis is over.

At this point I think that it’s “benefit[ed]”. As the job market shuts down there won’t be any place to put a bunch of semi-skilled workers or any reason for them to be on this side of the border… Which probably means that things will ‘work themselves out’ the way they are on the Colombia/Venezuela border right now –> See next message.

Agreed, but mostly post-1500, with the rise of science. In the dark ages the Judeo-Christians were wallowing in the darkness of plague, constant warfare, and ignorance. During that same period Islam had created a great civilization with contributions in architecture, mathematics, science, etc. until the barbarian Christian Crusades and “holy wars” drove both the Jews and the Muslims out of Europe.

When Europe was in the Dark Ages, Islamic civilization was in its Golden Age. It was on the foundation of Islamic discoveries and Islamic civilization that the Judeo-Christian traditon advanced.

Moscow is becoming the second Mecca for Arab leaders. Since the end of August the Russian capital was visited by the heads of the key countries in the Middle East, including Egypt, with visit of President Field Marshal Abdul-Fattah al-Sisi, Crown Prince of the United Arab Emirates Mohammed Al Nahyan and King Abdullah II of Jordan. And in mid-September in Moscow are expected Emir of Qatar, the Emir of Kuwait, and then the King of Saudi Arabia. These events are unprecedented: Moscow will be visited by the entire Arab world.

The war for world leadership. China against the United States.

At the moment, the world is witnessing the beginning of an open economic war between China and the United States. Thank God, so far only the economic, but the recent exchange of the explosions does not inspire optimism at all.

The reason for the war is trivial. US was a global leader in a bygone era, all major victories are in the past. And like any leader, after defeating an opponent, who was considered the main and most dangerous, rested on their laurels and miss the emergence of other dangerous competitor. China is the economic leader of the upcoming era, stung by the fact that its economic potential has not yet been translated fully into the political influence in the world.

    China

    1. Increased the economic potential of the real sector to the point that the level of GDP came in first place. And it is with all the “miracles” of modern statistics, putting China in unfair position.

    2. Created a strong financial system based on a few large banks, state-controlled. Today, on the list of world’s largest banks are 4 Chinese and only one American. And this is without taking into account the quality of assets.

    3. Accumulated large international reserves, including US dollars, which is its instrument of pressure on the US debt market. In US Treasuries, until recently, China had more than 1.2 trillion dollars. Actively building up gold reserves, and most of the gold is on the balance sheets of commercial banks so as not to frighten the “world community.” Real gold reserves in China are estimated at more than 10 thousand tones.

    4. Acquired almost complete set of modern technologies with a few exceptions, and actively applies them in practical production.

    5. Created a months-long strategic reserves of material resources, including energy. It actually has a global monopoly on the production of rare earth metals, and actively uses this monopoly to blackmail unyielding “partners” in the acquisition of more modern technology.

    6. Subdued Taiwan economically, the only real competitor in the production of mass electronic circuits. Moreover, Taiwan has actually moved most of its production to the continent.

    7. Created a modern high-tech army. Its nuclear capabilities are still unknown, but are sufficient to inflict unacceptable damage on the enemy. Actively increased its Navy.

    8. Financially subjugated Europe – the natural ally of the US. Without regular infusions of money in the debt markets of Europe from China, they will collapse in a few weeks.

    USA

    1. Almost completely phased out at material production.

    2. Overloaded balance sheets of its largest banks with illiquid and risky derivatives to the extent that without the regular intervention by the Federal Reserve are virtually broke.

    3. Does not have real gold reserves. Even nominal gold in Fort Knox (approx. 8 thousand Tons) was leased to private banks, and then disappeared in the unknown direction. The United States even does not have capability to return the gold to the country that entrusted US with its storage.

    4. All the developed technologies, including some military, work in factories in China and Taiwan.

    5. From the actual material strategic reserves there is only oil, which they also began to actively sell lately.

    6. Practically lost one of the main allies in the region – Taiwan, so that the Pentagon estimates no longer able to protect it in case of conflict with China.

    7. For all the ostentatious power of the US army it is constantly falling apart. Nuclear arsenals are deteriorating. In fact, the only significant force remains is the Navy.

    8. So overextended and put excessive pressure on its natural allies – Europe, that the Europeans are just looking for any opportunity to slip out of the power of the United States.

In practice, China has already moved from the quiet accumulation of advantages to the direct pressure on the West to recognize its power and influence. This is reflected in the fact that:

With a large number of China signed an agreement on mutual exchange swaps, eliminating the dollar from mutual payments.

It started issuing external debt denominated in Yuan.

It announced a further acquisition of oil only for Yuan.

It prepared under its control the international financial institutions to replace the pro-American World Bank and IMF.

Actively develops overland transport routes to Europe that are not dependent on the US-controlled Strait of Malacca.

It signed an agreement on strategic partnership with Russia, providing an uncontrolled by US channel of energy supplies.

It conducts tremendous economic activity in Africa and Latin America, becoming for many regions the main trading partner.

It began the process of de-coupling of Yuan from the dollar, which will not only protect its competitive advantage in the industrial sector, but also provide a pretext to reduce their investments in dollars and Euros.

It continues accumulation of gold in reserves and at the same time created the most modern infrastructure in the world for its storage and trade.

And it is very symbolic that it is happening at a time when China on September 2-3, will celebrate the 70th anniversary of victory in the Pacific front of World War II.

      @ FitM:

I generally agree with your overview. At the end of the day – when the house of global finance cards falls – China still holds a strong hand.

      Cheers!

Agreed, but mostly post-1500, with the rise of science. In the dark ages the Judeo-Christians were wallowing in the darkness of plague, constant warfare, and ignorance.

It’s *probably* safe to say that both sides were engaging in all of this. I can’t for the life of me imagine Islam refraining from warfare.

The Dark Ages are also beginning to be seen as not so dark, but rather obscured by a relative lack of written sources documenting scientific/political/social advances.

It’s not as if Europe simply exploded out of nowhere in 1400 and woke up saying “Hey we’re in the Renaissance as of today” – there was a long series of incremental changes in these key areas that reached critical mass in the form of the Renaissance and, later, the Englightenment.

Secondly, as for Islam – what’ve you done for me lately?

BRH, unless there’s a very wealthy enclave nearby, your odds of catching sight of an oligarch (ie a CEO of a Wall Street bank or Fortune 500 company or an heir of one of the great banking or commercial fortunes) is pretty slim. Easier IMO to catch sight of Nessie.

But they don’t need to be nearby to clean you out. Nope, their mischief can be done long distance. Yep, they have paid lackeys – including politicians, plus the force of the law, the Fed, regulatory bodies and universities all on their side. Not to mention the slack-jawed apathy of the “what-can-I-do” American “don’t know nuttin” citizenry.

And they’ll convince everyone that their agenda has the inevitability of plate tectonics behind it. It will happen because it has to. And because it’s necessary. And IF you’re a REAL American you’ll be on board no matter the cost to yourself. Are you a real American BRH?

    • MisterDarling August 29, 2015 at 2:38 pm #

“And they’ll convince everyone that their agenda has the inevitability of plate tectonics behind it. It will happen because it has to. And because it’s necessary. And IF you’re a REAL American you’ll be on board no matter the cost to yourself.”-v.

Prior to that, they’ll have their muppets deny that anything’s wrong (while they loot-n-scoot):

      http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-08-27/lies-you-will-hear-economic-collapse-progresses

Back to one something you addressed earlier:

“The Oligarchs put themselves in a mess IMO. They measure their wealth and claim on resources by numbers in databases. But such claims are good only as long as there are American courts and men with guns willing to enforce them. What happens when those courts and men say fuck it, I’m not doing this anymore?”-v.

I’m not a person who believes in ‘seeing the future’, or even ‘predicting’ it. But I do strongly believe in __Seeing the Present__. The future’s already here, just not evenly distributed (to paraphrase).

With that insight in view, the evidence suggests that they’re already strategic toast. Exhibit A: Ghaddafi, Exhibit B: Mubarak. Both of these mammoth piles of fecal matter had $BILLIONS and both were compliant with the financial supervision of the BIS, and in the end it just didn’t matter – because (as you’ve said) – you only own something if you can enforce your claim to it… The process is started, and shows no sign of stopping. Oligarchs have painted themselves into a corner, and the writing’s on the (opposite) wall.

      😉

Regarding illegal immigration, it’s one symptom of a strategic problem, and since you can’t actually fix strategic issues with tactical solutions (like ‘walls’, s/t deportations, etc.) the discussion itself indicates desperation and is a time-waster.

The problem is that there are a number of Nations in Name Only (NINO’s) collapsing. From those NINO’s a large number of people are fleeing, desperately. Now that the floodgates are open, it’s a little late to slam a bunch of reactive, short-term fixes in place and expect them to hold or that the problem just ‘goes away on it’s own – without a lot of carnage… Based on what has and hasn’t been done, there will be carnage. If things were under control than the mask wouldn’t have slipped in 2008, and we’d be seeing none of what we are right now.

There are those that assert that immigration of any sort is “an act of love”, that immigrants will make a huge contribution, should be condoned and supported unconditionally, etc. and that is nonsense. Immigrants at this stage (illegal or not) can’t make a positive contribution to an economic collapse – other than to accelerate the rate of collapse.

With all of the above taken into consideration, don’t think for a second that I’m in favor of doing nothing. If we’re lucky enough to be on the richer side of some border, it behooves us (from a purely survival standpoint) to stem the tide as long as possible. Don’t expect the problem to go away, or forget that sooner or later we’re going to have to execute other plans.

Working with that millwright once again, clearing out an ancient Brass Rolling Mill in Waterbury, redbrick, with oil soaked wooden floors, a big old space filled with these immense machines, which I’ve learned are being shipped to India and will be put back into service. This must be why, when we dis assemble this machinery, everything has to be cataloged and labelled. I noted some of the name plates: Craven, Bridgeport, Lincoln, Spencer, old American industrial names. These mills produced the brass for artillery shells in both world wars. I saw the date ‘1943’ on one big milling machine. We move the parts on dollies out to railroad flat cars in what must be one of the last factory sidings in New England. This yard itself is fascinating too, filled with abandoned industrial junk and broken down boxcars, 50 gallon steel drums filled with who knows what, surrounded with plenty of barbed wire and chain link fence. As ever, the old guy I’m working for talks about all the broads he’s nailed over the course if his life — quite a few by his estimate. Apparently he was a noted cocksman in his day, or so he says. The broads just couldn’t get enough.

He’s also one of these guys who walk around with a big wad of bills in his pocket, wrapped tight. Everything is in cash. When payday comes he just peels off $100 bills, rounded to the highest number, everything being very cool and informal.

It must be heaven for you. But mark: the old ways lead directly to what we have now. It was inevitable given what they believed and what had already begun. In other words, they were flawed, building on rotten foundations.

During the Golden Age of Classical Greece, the Greek cities were filling up with immigrants from Asia Minor. Even as the philosophized and created art, they had already doomed themselves. Their “feet” were already brown. And between Iron and mud there can be no amalgamation – only a rotting away.

Likewise, no one made the Corporations send the jobs overseas. They did that of their own evil will in line with their own corrupt Capitalist creed.

Americans plod through summer in their usual hypnotic state, entertained by the media with titillating stories of men trapped in webs of their own making by the Ashley Madison hacking scandal (as MisterDarling pointed out earlier this week, mostly dudes talking to dudes, just like here at CFN) or waiting breathlessly to see what stunts Miley Cyrus has in store for us Sunday evening when she hosts the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, or the antics of “a confederacy of dunces” competing to out-Trump one another for their party’s nomination in a Presidential election that will not be a year away for another two months.

Meanwhile, unfolding under the radar, as though the preceding distractions were intentional, or at least the mainstream media spotlight on them, is potentially to date the mother of all cyber attacks. In early June the federal government acknowledged what is now being referred to as the OPM Hack. The government’s Office of Personnel Management, essentially the government’s human resources department, had the personnel records stolen of more than 22 million employees across nearly every federal agency. Unlike hacks in the past, where sensitive personal data, such as Social Security numbers, passwords and credit card information were included in records stolen, these cyber thieves– U.S. intelligence sources are pointing the finger at China (of course!) hit the cyber sweepstakes. This time, their unprecedented haul included 1.1 million fingerprints!

Astonishingly, the intrusion, which went undetected for over a year, was not noticed until the OPM began to upgrade its systems. During that year the hackers were able to methodically work their way through various sections of the systems, mining the valuable data completely undetected. Nearly three months since the OPM acknowledged the massive intrusion, they are still unable to determine the full extent of it. What is known is chilling.

For starters, one of the known areas hacked contained lengthy forms completed by federal employees seeking security clearances. Known as SF-86’s, the 127-page forms are used for background investigations and are used by applicants to provide personal information on themselves, family members, relatives, friends, work associates, and other relationships, and go back on an historical basis to their school years. Information compiled by the forms include family member dates and places of birth, past and present addresses, etc. SF-86’s collected for the past three decades we’re potentially exposed during the hack. Imagine the staggering consequences and multiplicity of people affected by this aspect of the hack alone.

But wait, there’s more! Potentially the most problematic aspect of the intrusion was the theft of 1.1 million fingerprints. Our iPhones and iPads recently have been enhanced with the ability to unlock and access them via fingerprint recognition technology. Some brands of laptops and other devices have had this feature for several years.Office doors, safes, telephones and an ever-increasing array of applications are using this and other biometric technology. The convenience, safety, and enhanced security are driving the change. I have a pistol safe on a bedside nightstand that unlocks with such a device. It permits rapid access to a firearm in the dark without fumbling with keypad pin codes or combination locks. It doesn’t require a lot of imagination to grasp the security threat posed by the compromise of these systems and devices by the theft of the fingerprints of large numbers of government employees, particularly to diplomats and those involved in intelligence and espionage. Speaking of espionage, consider a situation where we are using an agent in another country who is posing as another person and a spot security check, using fingerprint data from the stolen files, is used to blow his cover. The consequences could vastly exceed those from the Valerie Plame outting.

Credit card numbers, pin codes, passwords, even Social Security numbers may be changed if necessary. Except in the movies, fingerprints are forever. Since they never change, the stolen fingerprints will still have value, and potential high resale value, for decades to come, contraband to be sold and resold repeatedly on the black market. You may sign-up for LifeLock or carefully monitor your credit reports in an effort to repair damage from the kind of identify theft we’ve all been concerned about for years, but how do we repair the damage inflicted by stolen biometric information– in this instance, stolen fingerprints? Remember the episode in the TV series “24” when Jack Bauer cut the bad guy’s thumb off, put it in his pocket and used it later to unlock his office door and again to scan it and transmit the image with his cell phone? To the victims of the fingerprints theft in the OPM hack, it’s almost as if someone cut off their thumb and fingers and took them, to never be returned.

There’s much more to be learned about this massive security breach. The long-term consequences will be enormous. But with Miley’s antics and football season heating up, will anyone care?

      Absolutely outstanding post, Sticks!

I have no doubt that in a month or two the GOP will be asking for yet another “investigation” (witch hunt)): ” This must have Hillary’s fingerprints all over it!”

Seriously, though, are the modern day Chinese capable of any originality whatsoever beyond lifting and stealing the technology of others?

For all of those who have had their fingerprints lifted by the Chinese maybe they will have to start using another body metric identifier. For instance, when you need to grab your pistol quickly just stand on one leg like the Karate Kid and unlock the gun case with your big toe 🙂

      • Janos Skorenzy August 30, 2015 at 2:51 pm #

Are you STILL shilling for the Hillary – a worthless, incompetent, vicious old bag?

You need a check up from the neck up. And no, this doesn’t make me a “Republican”! Give up the dualistic thinking. They’ve got you unless you can go beyond it.

The struggle of the Titans: First Cino-American Economic war

At the moment, the heavyweights exchanged the initial blows. US using IMF have refused to include Yuan into the basket of special drawing rights – special international instrument of payments used by the IMF (41.9% USD, 37.4% EUR, 9.4% Japanese yen and 11.3% British pound).

In turn, China devalued its currency and by 7% reduced its stock market valuation, thus softly deflating a forming financial bubble and simultaneously vaporizing from the US economy more than a trillion dollars, which led to a loss of US key stock indices.

And just as quickly as they appeared, the problems on the Chinese exchanges have disappeared. People’s Bank of China demonstrated that it has a good control over the situation, and what happened there was hardly accidental. And if required, the trick could be repeated again.

Where to put bets in this battle of the Titans every country will have to decide for itself and the answer is not obvious.

The geopolitical and economic blow to Russia is the only large-scale, but overall flanking operation in the First Financial war with China.

Washington simply does not have other options at the moment.
America is too closely associated with China economically. From China come 450 billion of imports a year. And the fact that the trade balance is consistently negative, the US cannot simply give it up.

The US response to the actions of Beijing will be announced at a meeting of the US Federal Reserve Board on the discount rate in mid-September of this year.

Mister Darling: “At the end of the day “discussions” can’t go anywhere because the causal factors won’t – so it has to be remove or neutralize the interlopers.”

For you, it’s always violence. Cowardly disguising murder in euphemisms like “legitimate kills” “whack” and “neutralize.”

Mister Darling, talking is the way Colombia and Venezuela have resolved disputes for the past almost hundred years.

You have way too much faith in violence. A naive faith. But Americans always look for an easy fix and are seduced by their belief in violence.

Border disputes happened in the 1930s between Colombia and Venezuela. They were resolved in 1941, Colombia and Venezuela created the “Common rivers navigation and terrestrial delimitation treaty.” It was talking that worked, not violence.

In the 1980s there were maritime disputes. By talking they arrived at the Colombo-Venezuelan neighborhood Commission and avoided war.
It was talking that worked, not violence.

Colombia and Venezuela have a long history of peacefully resolving differences.

Guess those with even the slightest bit of intelligence have figured out that Trump’s hair is more real than he is.

“Veterans love me, Latinos love me, everyone loves me.” Donald Trump

If I read right, I don’t think JHK loves Trump. I know I don’t. I don’t love him a lot. Guy says the Bible is his favorite book, to pick up the evangelicals you know. Then he can’t even say what his favorite verse is. I’d bet my just-picked beautiful pears and my breath, he has only touched a Bible twice in his entire life. Says he’s not going to take any one’s money for his campaign. Next thing you know he’s having fundraisers at $100 a plate. Did someone say Liar. What a piece of dung, course that’s what we have seemed to have in the past running this clown freak show.

As far as World War III, Clinton’s former CIA director, what’s his name, says the Mid-East is already there. It’s just a matter of time before everything’s engulfed. It’s too bad really, so sad for us, for civilization. We never learn.

    • elysianfield August 30, 2015 at 4:41 pm #

      ” We never learn”

      Barb,
Some of us never learn. You, for example, opine that humanity has never learned that war is unhealthy for children and other living things. What you fail to see is that war is the natural order of things, and peace the anomaly. You rail against human nature…and human nature will not change.

  167. barbisbest August 30, 2015 at 1:54 pm #

One other thing, people are so eager to get to somewhere else, Latinos, whatever. Any somewhere else, is probably gonna look like where they came from in the not-too-distant future. Ironic isn’t it.

South of the border is pretty corrupt from what I hear and read, and Here isn’t getting to be much better.

    • Janos Skorenzy August 30, 2015 at 2:48 pm #

Your best comment to date. That’s why we have to keep the Muslims out – because we don’t want a Saudi Arabian Theocracy. That’s why we have to keep the Mexicans out – because we don’t want an evil narco state. And that’s why we have to keep the Black Africans out – because we don’t want a shit hole.

Needless to say your new insight doesn’t jibe with your distaste for Trump. But you are a woman, and women are allowed to be inconsistent because they can’t really think. Or is it that they just don’t like to? No matter, it comes to the same thing. Are there exceptions? Of course. You aren’t one of them.

barbibest: “South of the border is pretty corrupt from what I hear and read”

    ==========

Trump wants to build a wall on the southern border. Walker is talking about building a wall all along the northern border.

    3,987 miles: U.S.-Canadian continental border
    1,933 miles: U.S.-Mexican border
    1,538 miles: Alaska-Canada border

We could spend our entire national budget building walls and having the military patrol them. They won’t stop the “illegal” immigrants who want to come here to pay taxes, create jobs, and love the United States. 40% of them come by plane and overstay visas, which is not a felony and does not make them “criminals”… they are simply intelligently engineering a way to participate in and improve the United States. We should welcome them. They make us diverse and diversity is strength.

A manager brought in watermelon for the whole office. Bryce took this as a personal insult. In his mind, the watermelon kept appearing and disappearing constantly in different parts of the office.

Imagine renaming yourself “Bryce”. That’s bad enough. But now imagine a Black man doing it, trying to be a fake, fatuously positive WASP reporter. It’s grotesque beyond all imagining. He had to explode. The world could contain such grotesquerie.

“The world could contain such grotesquerie.” –Janos

Of course it could. The world is big and contains multitudes. It is not possible to murder (kill, do in, whack, neutralize, etc.) the OTHER. Overcome the illusion of separation, and the impulse to murder the other.

“Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.”

Well, we’ve had a series of threats about to bring about doom: Iran, Ebola, Greece, Trump, Markets, Peak Oil, Inflation, Deflation, Debt Crisis, ISIS, etc. and no collapse.

What is next? We haven’t had any real scares this week. We need something to scare us, don’t we, to keep the adrenalin flowing and keep us buying guns and gold?

Speaking of gold. The goldbugs are still believing gold has value. Just wait until China starts snatching up gold as an alternative to the dollar. Then prices will shoot back up. That, at least, was the story they told themselves until recently, when China revealed that it hasn’t been purchasing nearly as much gold as people had assumed. Not only that, but a big fund dumped its gold in the middle of the night, driving the price down to a 5-year low. That’s left the goldbugs most impervious to empirical reality with nothing to say other than that “gold hasn’t lost any value, the dollar has just strengthened.” Right, and my stocks aren’t worth any less, I’d just get less money for them if I sold them.

China launched for FED Quantitative Easing in reverse on an epic scale

If the whole market carry trade with the Yuan will be destroyed, China will have to eliminate the proportionate amount of reserves in order to maintain control over its currency.

If the current rate of outflow of liquidity will continue, and China will sell about $100 billion of reserves every two weeks, its inventory would last for about 18 weeks of interventions.

Obviously, the further dumping of Treasuries should have an impact on the US economy and monetary policy of the Fed – it will lower the cost of T-Bills and, accordingly, raise interest rates.

If China will eliminate over trillion of reserves in US Treasuries, it will mean effective compensation of 60% of the entire QE3 program.

  173. FincaInTheMountains August 31, 2015 at 8:13 am #

And all this is happening against the background of the sale of US debt which is generally disadvantageous to Fed and US government. The main risk is associated with the continuation of sales of reserves and US government bonds.

According to estimates of Citi analytics, fall of reserves by 1% of US GDP (approximately $ 178 billion) would lead to an increase in the yield on 10-year US government bonds by 15-35 basis points. Assuming that developing countries, which now own reserves to $ 5.491 trillion, lower them by 10% in just one year, the yield on 10-year US bonds will rise immediately by 108 basis points (1.08%), which is a lot.

According to the latest available data, China controls about $1.48 trillion of US government debt. $200 billion is held in Belgium.

    U.S. Weighs Sanctions Against China

U.S. WEIGHS SANCTIONS OVER CHINA’S CYBER HACKING The unprecedented potential sanctions would target “Chinese companies and individuals who have benefited from their government’s cybertheft of valuable U.S. trade secrets.” The sanctions, combined with China’s economic turmoil, cast Chinese President Xi Jinping’s upcoming visit in a much different light.

“Even the formerly august New York Times grants that Donald J. Trump has ignited a voter firestorm of grievance against a dumb show election process that rewards a craven avoidance of real issues.” –JHK

Well now, shouldn’t we take a peek at the machine that “All the news/lies that we deem fit to print” is also a cog in? I say, there’s yer trouble.

“Regardless of the issues coming to the fore in this presidential season, the real issue, as always, is the press itself. That’s not supposed to be noticed, but more and more people are noticing it. Is there a single MSM outlet that actually does investigative journalism anymore? I think not – they mostly just link to those that did, that they deem “appropriate.”

MSM only does the deeds that their advertisers request(read: REQUIRE). Sounds just liek Citizens United!

Here’s another example of JHK articulating what I’ve long thought, but didn’t know how to express.

I have long thought we would follow the footsteps of Nazi Germany as a last and final death throe before we reemerge as a sane and sound country. Trump might well be the person who leads us down that path.
