Something Happened

B en Bernanke’s memoir is out and the chatter about it inevitably turns to the sickening moments in September 2008 when “the world economy came very close to collapse.” Easy to say, but how many people know what that means? It’s every bit as opaque as the operations of the Federal Reserve itself.

There were many ugly facets to the problem but they all boiled down to global insolvency — too many promises to pay that could not be met. The promises, of course, were quite hollow. They accumulated over the decades-long process, largely self-organized and emergent, of the so-called global economy arranging itself. All the financial arrangements depended on trust and good faith, especially of the authorities who managed the world’s “reserve currency,” the US dollar.

By the fall of 2008, it was clear that these authorities, in particular the US Federal Reserve, had failed spectacularly in regulating the operations of capital markets. With events such as the collapse of Lehman and the rescue of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, it also became clear that much of the collateral ostensibly backing up the US banking system was worthless, especially instruments based on mortgages. Hence, the trust and good faith vested in the issuer of the world’s reserve currency was revealed as worthless.

The great triumph of Ben Bernanke was to engineer a fix that rendered trust and good faith irrelevant. That was largely accomplished, in concert with the executive branch of the government, by failing to prosecute banking crime, in particular the issuance of fraudulent securities built out of worthless mortgages. In effect, Mr. Bernanke (and Barack Obama’s Department of Justice), decided that the rule of law was no longer needed for the system to operate. In fact, the rule of law only hampered it.

Mr. Bernanke now says he “regrets” that nobody went to jail. That’s interesting. More to the point perhaps he might explain why the Federal Reserve and the Securities and Exchange Commission did not make any criminal referrals to the US Attorney General in such cases as, for instance, Goldman Sachs (and others) peddling bonds deliberately constructed to fail, on which they had placed bets favoring that very failure.

There were a great many such cases, explicated in full by people and organizations outside the regulating community. For instance, the Pro Publica news organization did enough investigative reporting on the racket of collateralized debt obligations to send many banking executives to jail. But the authorities turned a blind eye to it, and to the reporting of others, mostly on the web, since the legacy news media just didn’t want to press too hard.

In effect, the rule of law was replaced with a patch of official accounting fraud, starting with the April 2009 move by the Financial Accounting Standards Board involving their Rule 157, which had required banks to report the verifiable mark-to-market value of the collateral they held. It was essentially nullified, allowing the banks to value their collateral at whatever they felt like saying.

Accounting fraud remains at the heart of the fix instituted by Ben Bernanke and the ploy has been copied by authorities throughout the global financial system, including the central banks of China, Japan, and the European Community. That it seemed to work for the past seven years in propping up global finance has given too many people the dangerous conviction that reality is optional in economic relations. The recovery of equity markets from the disturbances of August has apparently convinced the market players that stocks are invincible. Complacency reigns at epic levels. Few are ready for what is coming.

this is what Old Europe with its respect for the law and tradition has become, thanks to insane liberal policies

Insane liberal and neo-conservative policies. If not for the endless wars in the Middle East carried out and sponsored by Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton, Bush 2, and Obama, most of those Muslims would be still living in their homelands. The US has sowed endless wars in those lands for forty years, and this is the harvest being reaped.

      • miasmo October 26, 2015 at 12:36 pm #

I can see the neocon culpability in these mass migrations. Not sure what “liberal” policies have to do with any of it. Unless you mean “neo-liberal,” which is pretty much right wing on the left-right spectrum.

        • Janos Skorenzy October 26, 2015 at 2:26 pm #

Liberals are the witting or unwitting dupes, the bleeding hearts who actually let the invaders, whom you imagine to be refugees, in. The Neo Cons couldn’t run their scam if guys with automatic rifles told the brown masses to go back. But the guards have been told to stand down. And White armies are no longer for defending their own nations, but only for serving Neo Con schemes.

Looks like this could be the false alarm of someone pushing a hate agenda. The ‘gatewaypundit’ seems to be the only rag reporting on this news. Here an Copenhagen English language newspaper has nothing on it at all.

      Online Posts

Seems all my searches lead back to the gatewaypundit and nowhere else.

No many places else anyway. What I found out was that a group of 500, protesting, celebrating, socializing or something, gathered Friday/ A video I watched showed no violence. Looked like an agitated group of men telling other people to behave themselves to me.

      • Sean Coleman October 26, 2015 at 12:08 pm #

This is a side issue and I don’t want to add to a derailment of the the thread so early in the day. Also, I don’t know anything about this case and I am very sceptical about what gets reported on the internet, by any side.

However what our host calls ‘the legacy media’ are hardly objective. The recent sword attack by a young white racist which left two dead in a secondary school in a heavily immigrant settled area of Sweden was reported prominently. I heard a snatch of the radio news in my local shop the next morning and it sounded like their prime minister was describing it as the blackest day in their history. The news here, and probably everywhere else, led with the story.

In August it was reported that an Eritrean had randomly killed a middle-aged Swedish woman shopping in IKEA (a DIY store) and her son with a knife. It was also reported that he had just had his asylum request turned down. I happened to listen to a podcast of the Swedish news for that day and although I had heard about the attack I had forgotten since. There was no mention. The next day I listened through the podcast again and found out that I was wrong. It had been reported, in a very brief item that gave no details other than that two people had been knifed to death. The next day the radio news programme (Sveriges Radio’s P1 Morgon, if anyone understands Swedish and wants to check my account – I listen to it because I like learning languages) gave the story more attention, but didn’t at all (as I recall) mention the immigrant aspect, but rather the question of whether the killer had used a knife on sale in the shop and whether they shouldn’t sell knives in the future. (It has since turned out, or so I have read, that IKEA have stopped selling kitchen knives in their shops.)

How would you describe this agenda?

        • Sean Coleman October 26, 2015 at 12:12 pm #

In both killings I wonder if drugs, whether prescribed or illegal, were involved because they often, if not usually, are.

        • Sean Coleman October 26, 2015 at 12:19 pm #

I should have added that Morgon reported the item about an hour into the programme. I’d have only caught the first half hour or so. Relying on national broadcasters the rest of the world knew much more about it than Swedes did.

        • Exscotticus October 26, 2015 at 7:53 pm #

I wonder… If he had used furniture instead of a knife, would IKEA stop selling furniture?

        • BackRowHeckler October 26, 2015 at 9:56 pm #

Sweden is the rape capital if Europe. Guess who’s being raped?

The same day the arab young boy was found drowned on the beach in Greece, an elderly couple was knifed to death in a home invasion in Italy by an Eritrean migrant.

Guess which incident got worldwide attention?

The police station in the Muslim neighborhood of Rosengarden in Malmo was attacked so many times they were talking about hiring a private security firm to protect it. You can’t make this stuff up.
Native Swedes birth rate is way to low to maintain the tax base so they believe immigration will solve that problem.
Unfortunately most humans are still tribal and xenophobic so I don’t think their policy will succeed.
For example the Catalonians and Basque have lived in Spain since its existence and they have still not assimilated even though they are all Christians.Probably the majority of these two groups want independence. It may be Swedish hubris to think North African and Middle eastern Muslims can be successfully integrated into their society unless of course the natives become “Dhimmi” and allow sharia law and support mosques with tax money.

          • Sean Coleman October 28, 2015 at 12:21 pm #

They ‘believe immigration will solve that problem.’

The economic benefits of mass immigration turn out to be an illusion while the costs are evident, and you seem to agree.

I am interested in the psychological reasons for such irrational behaviour. Political correctness has its origins in the US and is clearly a replacement rules for civilization, albeit with huge self contradictions and gross stupidity.

I don’t think anyone has given an answer for exactly how pc took over, but I am convinced that its stubborn refusal to budge in the face of all the evidence on a whole range of issues can be explained only by extravert behaviour. The evidence is all around, but is most striking in blogs, including this one.

Nobody else seems to have noticed this.

      • Janos Skorenzy October 26, 2015 at 2:27 pm #

So letting Europe be over run ISN’T a hate agenda?

    • WannaBleave October 26, 2015 at 11:46 am #

I searched and searched but could not find a credible news outlet reporting this item… not even a sanitized, oblique reference. The only places it appears are this unknown “gatewaynews,” brietbart and Pamela Geller’s Islamaphobe site. Not exactly ringing endorsements to factual reporting.

The video is interesting but it could be re-purposed footage.

Like my name says: I want to believe – – but I check my sources first.

“Investing” your money at the games of chance in Las Vegas is a better bet than the handing it over to the banksters running the financial rackets. At least you get free drinks in Vegas. Now is the time to preserve whatever assets you have. Trying to make a profit in the markets is financial suicide.

    • George October 26, 2015 at 1:07 pm #

“At least you get free drinks in Vegas.”

That’s no longer necessarily the case, at least in not all the casinos and then typically only in the “High Roller” areas. And no matter what, to keep them fresh, tip lavishly.

“Trying to make a profit in the markets is financial suicide.”

The alternative is to lend vast amounts of money into existence with no expectation that it will ever be repaid. This is what the IMF does when it lends Greece a few billion every time they nearly go into default. Only mugs actually believe that these are real loans. These loans will be written off in due course. The whole purpose is to get a country into debt and then force them to sell off their state-owned assets for a fraction of their value. The IMF and the World Bank ran out of third world countries to pull this stunt on so now they have to do this to the other countries in the EU. This is what they’re doing to Greece, Italy, Ireland and Portugal. The next big prize with all manner of state-owned assets is the Ukraine, a former communist realm that has vast extents of highly productive agricultural land (formerly held in common on collective farms) and some serious industrial capacity, a substantial proportion of which still hasn’t been sold off the Chinese and Western interests.

On a continued pessimistic note, I have the sad vision of (the unlikely) President Sanders grinning with his hopeful reformist optimism, sitting at the end of a long table in a dark boardroom and hearing ‘you have meddled with the forces of nature, Mr. Beale!’

Close, but in Bernie’s case (or any of the other stuffed shirt/blouse candidates auditioning for President) it will be more like a phalanx of Pentagon, CIA, and NSC brass barking for them to “sit down sonny (or sissy–whichever) we run things around here! Now, watch this (cue the Zapruder film of JFK’s brains being blown out) any questions?!”

  4. stelmosfire October 26, 2015 at 8:37 am #

I myself wonder at the spectacle of it all. I try to talk to people about this and their eyes glaze over. They don’t want to think about it. They live for the here and now. “Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead”! What becomes of our way of life in the future is of no concern to them. Our future is hanging in the balance and no one seems to care! Well I guess I’ll head off to Bora Bora. “I’m leavin’ on a jet plane, don’t know when I’ll be back again’.” Must be nice.

    • Pogo October 26, 2015 at 11:18 am #

I agree and have had the same experience. People just don’t want to comprehend what’s going on.

Before the economic crash, I read “The Trillion Dollar Meltdown” by Charles Morris (published in March 2008) that detailed the alphabet soup of financial derivatives that had been devised by the wizards of Wall Street to (supposedly) spread risk. Things like RMBS, CDO, etc.

The concept is really quite simple: take a bunch of “assets” like home mortgages of varying “quality”, throw them into a big pot and mix well, then serve them up as new dishes (called “tranches”) to patrons that either don’t know or don’t care to look at the contents, some of which are quite rotten. Then get some reviews (from the bond rating agencies like S&P) raving about how tasty the new soup was. The customers literally ate it up.

At the time, I could not imagine a trillion dollar meltdown. Now I can. I tried to interest family members and friends in the subject and even dared to predict that they would someday learn what an MBS and CDO was. Some actually did.

Today, I have the same experience with trying to interest friends and family in the concepts and dangers of global climate change. Mostly, they are bored and suddenly focus on an incoming text message. I tell them that there will be few climate change deniers in another five years. They will eventually become interested, but like the financial crash, it will be too late to do anything.

    • lsjogren October 26, 2015 at 3:33 pm #

The only case of people caring about the future today is concern about climate change. I guess to acknowledge any of the other threats we face would require acknowledging inconvenient truths.

How much of this uncollapse/non-collapse is due to tptb simply not knowing what else to do? 2008 seems to have scared the minority of folks that comprehend the intricacies of our financial tangles, so they have allowed a shift into an abstract game with no reality but also no accountability. The U.S. has the “best thing going” (sadly) and the alternative is a medieval world with too many peasants. We know this can’t go on, but it does. Who amongst the multiple powers would stop the game? And as long as they play, the rest will follow.

I am 22,000 days old today and one realization is the future is really hard to predict. Back in 1981 when the Moody Blues came out with that song “22,000 Days” I did the math and was imagining what the future would look like when I reached 22,000 days. I have to say things are quite different than what I had imagined.

Charles De Gaulle famously said after the JFK assassination that Americans don’t want to know and therefore will never know. Therein lies the problem. Finding out your country is evil is like finding out your parents or your family or your church is evil. Contemplation of the aftermath…what to do, what to do? More and more of us are waking up to this fact, so I would suggest to people like Kunstler that is what we need to be doing. I’m not talking about planting a garden either. What will our government look like after the collapse of the America the Great myth? What will the world look like? You see the Catholic Church is a powerful enemy and knows that brutality spawns the need for revenge, and therefore the violence is perpetual. It foments perpetual violence. Just like when Rome collapsed and the Church ruled for a thousand years. Is that our immediate future?

Your comment reminds me of a new book by David Talbot on the “Deep State” and the assassination of JFK. Here’s an interview with him about the book and his research at Salon:

      http://www.salon.com/2015/10/15/every_president_has_been_manipulated_national_security_officials_david_talbot_investigates_americas_deep_state/#comments

The book is called, “The Devil’s Chessboard: Allen Dulles, the CIA and the Rise of the Secret Government”.

      • seawolf77 October 26, 2015 at 1:03 pm #

That’s where I got the De Gaulle quote. Great book. Actually it is interesting to see others arriving at the conclusion I have. Sullivan & Cromwell, the law firm where Allen and John Foster Dulles were partners, is the law firm portrayed in the movie “The Devil’s Advocate.” If want to ask where was America lost, it is right there.

Germany’s intelligence agencies expressed alarm over the influx of refugees and migrants who harbor radical Islamic views and hatred of Jews, according to a Sunday report in Welt am Sonntag.
According to a security document obtained by the paper and read by top-level agency personnel, “We are importing Islamic extremism, Arab anti-Semitism, national and ethnic conflicts of other peoples as well as a different societal and legal understanding.”
The newspaper wrote that security sources warn that “the integration of hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants Germany is no longer possible in light of the number and already existing parallel societies.”
The term “parallel societies” in Germany is frequently defined as insulated Muslim communities that have little or no contact with mainstream society.
The document, called “the non-paper” because it was not signed, stated: “German security agencies…will not be in the position to solve these imported security problems and thereby the arising reactions from Germany’s population.”
A senior level security official told the paper that, “The high influx of people from all parts of the world will lead to instability in our land.” The official added, “We are producing extremists through immigration. Mainstream civil society is radicalizing because the majority don’t want migration and they are being forced by the political elite.”
He predicts that many Germans “will turn away from the constitutional state.” The paper’s exclusive information came from the four major security agencies in Germany – the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the Federal Intelligence Service, the Federal Police and Federal Criminal Police Office.
According to the paper, the agencies raised pressing security concerns about the wave of migrants entering Germany.
The dire warnings from the security agencies and officials appear to be the first governmental statement about Arab anti-Semitism. In early October, in a meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel, the head of Germany’s Central Council of Jews in Germany, Josef Schuster, raised the community’s concern about Jew-hatred from immigrants and refugees from Muslim-majority countries.
He told Die Welt daily, that “among the people, who have sought refuge in Germany, many come from countries in which Israel is an enemy and are raised with this hostility toward Israel.”
He said the migrants “frequently carry over their resentments toward all Jews in general.”
Merkel assured Schuster for that reason, “We must take care of that.” She offered no specifics.

like i said, it’s actually a good thing this cancer’s finally been laid bare. can’t wait for the fireworks show to begin.

euroPUSSIES – get some balls and put these dogs down

if you do nothing now, there will come a time when you will beg for another hitler

merkel and other pro-immigration politicians should hang for what they’ve done to once beautiful and advanced europe.

In defense of Obama record in finance

Before Obama, the International finances were controlled by two parties: “The Money Changers” (the contingent “rothschilds”), based in City of London and making their money on fluctuations of currencies exchange rates and “Pirates of the Caribbean” (contingent “morgans” and “rockefellers”) making their money on FED dollar emission.

The US National bureaucracy had pretty little say in the matters.

Obama changed that and now the International finance is a three-head Hydra with addition of Obama-created “Financial Control” (or “Fincontrol”) which is intelligent services in alliance with financial officials.

It means filtering and measured leaking of concealed information and more often – without the publication of its use, in order to blackmail.

So now the “Money Changers” in alliance with Obama’s Fincontrol prevail over the “Pirates of the Caribbean”, and entire FED emission operation is finally under control of American National bureaucracy.

The most important outcome of the election showdown in the US – is the formation and preservation of a balance between two powerful heads of Finance International in favor of the weaker, newer head that nevertheless has a blocking stake.

And since the very formation of Financial Control was due to preparation for the restart of the global financial system due to the exhaustion of the resource of the dollar pyramid, two senior heads of Finance International simply did not allow each other to seize full control of the levers of financial power at this critical period of the restart, preferring a compromise in favor of the youngest head.

It is quite possible that Obama will retain his newly acquired powers even after vacating the White House in 2017.

KNIFE to THROAT of GERMAN – RIOTS OVER MUSLIM “PRAYERS”

Police are investigating after an asylum seeker allegedly held a knife to the throat of a local resident in a violent dispute in southern Germany on Saturday night.
The incident occurred in the town of Prien am Chiemsee in southern Bavaria, near the border with Austria, according to chiemgau24.com.
An argument broke out near the town’s railway station between two rival groups around 11:30pm, involving both locals and migrants. During the confrontation a migrant pulled a knife and held it to the throat of one of the locals before another local stepped in and hit the migrant.
This past weekend there have also been reports of brawl at a migrant centre in Saxony involving some 100 asylum seekers. Police said around 40 Afghans and 50 to 60 people of other nationalities were involved, threatening one another with metal bars.
They added there was initially little they could do due to the language barrier, and it took a while to find someone who could explain what happened.
MDR says the fight started due to “religious conflicts” after scheduled prayer times overran, with Syrian migrants complaining about “loud” Afghan prayers.
An Afghan asylum seeker has now been identified as the main culprit and taking into custody after receiving medical treatment.
These incidents are the latest in a series of internecine fights among migrants in Germany. Earlier this month, three Afghans were seriously injured in a fight with a gang of Syrians after exchanging a series of insults in a German language class.
Last month, one man was killed in another fight at an asylum centre in Wolfsburg. Police were called to the scene after gunshots were heard, and found two men seriously injured. Both were taken to hospital where one later died. No weapons were found.
The chief of the German police union has admitted that the scale of migrant violence may be larger than the media is reporting because police are not reporting all incidents to avoid scaring the public.
“The public does not know everything,” he said.

yeah wonderful to see cultures lovingly mix

Yeah what till people find out how much the Shia and Sunnis hate each other, not to mention the Kurds and Turks, Arabs and Turks, Arabs and Afghans, Arabs and everyone. And how much contempt they all have for Whites who can’t control their own borders or women. Whites even bow to Blacks. Ask the new people what they think about that.

The truly remarkable thing that happened between the collapse of Bear Stearns and the stock market bottom of March 2009, is that Bernanke and the rest of the Financial Establishment tacitly admitted that the entire system is, for lack of a better term, bullshit.

And, even stranger, rather than totally freak out about that, people acted as if they were very much reassured by the admission and got on with it as if it were all real, had always been real, and had now been saved to continue to be real into the future.

Once everything is abstract, when problems develop the rules can just be changed. Little kids do it all the time, when playing games and one kid loses by the existing rules and threatens to quit, or starts to cry. The other kids just change the rules so the game can continue.

That’s what Ben Bernanke did. The rules he had to change were the ones that made Fraud illegal. He didn’t exactly make Fraud illegal, but he sent out the message (as did the Bush and Obama Administrations; most plainly Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer under Obama) that the main sorts of fraud that all the major players had been committing for years would not be prosecuted.

When I first started managing people, somebody much wiser than I told me everyone only wants to know 3 things: Who’s in charge, what are the rules, and will the rules be enforced. Bernanke told the Financial world that he was in charge, he laid out the rules, and made it clear they would not be enforced.

I’ve heard it said that Bernanke and Obama Nationalized the banks, General Motors, Fannie and Freddie, etc. This is 180 degrees off. They actually privatized the US Treasury through the mechanism of the Federal Reserve. The distinction is very meaningful.

Bernanke’s great contribution to history is that if anyone had been wondering if our Financial system had become so abstracted as to be meaningless, if the rule of law applied only to those who can’t afford exemptions, and if the only real aspect of money is the work people have to physically do to get it; well, they learned they were correct in all respects.

    • swmnguy October 26, 2015 at 10:06 am #

Oops, in the 4th paragraph I meant, “He didn’t exactly make Fraud *legal*, ” not what I typed. Sorry.

      • MisterDarling October 26, 2015 at 1:53 pm #

@ Swmnguy: It’s fine. I understood where you were going with that as I read it.

The “little kids” analogy is spot-on. It’s a perfectly acceptable way to describe the mentality of people who: 1) believe there were no practical reasons for the rules to be there in the first place and 2) actually believe that that things can be ‘fixed’ by nullifying the rules through the magic of “self-canceling debt” and revising valuations on the basis of childish fantasy… Nice work.

        Cheers!

How does it feel Mr. Kunstler, to be one of the very few that sees it, cares about it and would even like to see something done about it? I know that I am out of hope and tired of being the social pariah that I seem to be as no one, and I mean no one gives a damn or wants to hear it. Why can’t I have a pleasant discussion about what I watched on TV last night, or where I vacationed last or what a wonderful match your shirt is to your trousers? Not only are the mindless idiots in the country doomed but frankly, it is exactly the fate they deserve. I have grown so frustrated with the lack of caring that I am actually looking forward to watching us all burn.

Childish? In 2008 we had that great FLUSH moment. The bankers said the whole system could collapse. Many people, yes including childish me, watched in utter disbelief while Congress bailed these crooks out. We could’ve flushed them, but people like you warned us how much we’d miss those stinky turds.

        • Walter B October 26, 2015 at 11:08 am #

A FLUSH moment, how appropriate! I think that the time has come for America to realize that being raped by a red or a blue criminal/thief/sellout/dirtbag is still rape, and that simply by no longer fighting it but consenting to the act does not change the end result. Eventfully we will bleed out and die. Perhaps denial is the way to go for some, certainly for those who are perpetrating the sham would recommend it. But in the end, the smartest cockroaches get under the cabinets just before the lights are turned on, NOT afterwards. Once the lights are fully lit it will be the slow, stupid roaches that are flattened under the boot of Truth.

    • Helen Highwater October 26, 2015 at 11:37 am #

I understand how you feel. It’s very hard where I live (and it’s supposed to be a “progressive” community) to find anyone who wants to have an intelligent conversation about what is going on. I guess the fact that we are standing on the edge of a precipice just hasn’t gotten most peoples’ attention yet. I find myself staying home more and more to avoid having to paste a smile on my face and participate in conversations that are of absolutely no interest to me. If I do try to turn the converation towards things that I think are fast approaching, I get told to stop being negative.m And even the few people who do seem to have a clue haven’t changed their lifestyles in any way, so it’s hard to believe that they really do get it.

      • Casualty09 October 27, 2015 at 10:00 am #

Just this past weekend, for the first time I raised some of the concerns I have, based in part on what I see here and on the Archdruid’s blog, with a neighbor. Interestingly, he has some similar worries, though coming from a different angle. Still, we’re both well-educated, upper middle class suburbanites and have benefited from the “system” being the way it is – and expect to continue to reap those benefits. And so neither one of us is doing anything different, outwardly. But inwardly there is clearly an anxiety that our kids may be in for a dramatically different – and more difficult – existence.

I suspect, Helen, that there are a lot of people out there with that sort of gnawing feeling in their guts. But it’s not entirely clear as to what should be done on the individual level, and so we do nothing. For many of us whose lives have been one of relative comfort and privilege, it’s understandably hard to uproot all that over some gnawing fear that it’s all a house of cards and can’t be sustained forever. Might as well keep the party going until. . . well, until.

    • Beryl of Oyl October 26, 2015 at 1:58 pm #

I find that most people firmly believe the financial collapse came about because “the government made the banks give money to poor people (black ones) to buy houses they couldn’t afford”. Never mind that the people you saw all over the media were middle class and up with some pretty extravagant houses they were going to lose, and that the mortgage meltdown was worldwide.

      • Casualty09 October 27, 2015 at 10:03 am #

Bingo, Beryl. Politicians in this country, particularly those of a right-wing persuasion, have been very successful in making sure that a substantial portion of the electorate blames the poor for everything that goes wrong. And by “poor,” of course, they all know (wink, wink) just who THAT is.

    • MisterDarling October 26, 2015 at 2:03 pm #

      @ WalterB:

The good news is: it actually is better to be mentally prepared – if only mentally – than it is to be caught totally off-guard. Back at the beginning of my life an old-timer quoted “one man that knows what’s about to happen is worth four that don’t”… And he was right.

      • Walter B October 26, 2015 at 3:59 pm #

And yes, it is of some consolation indeed. Better to stand like a man than squeal like a baby when the pedal hits the metal! It is also reassuring that I will not be alone but will stand in some good company as well! Salute!

You were sold a lie from the very beginning – the lie of Democracy or that the average man is fine. Marxism amps the lie up and says the average man is great – while secretly despising him.

Men have the right to be ruled by men better than themselves. There should be a graduated and earned citizenship, with only the responsible, well informed, and intelligent voting at the higher levels.

      • basil October 27, 2015 at 12:29 pm #

democracy is probably as bad as any other political system. however, history shows over and over that rulers can be very stupid, and are very often not the “better” people. leaders have been chosen by pure cowardice-a knife in the back, murder by multiple assassins, etc. who gets to choose who is better?

And, of course, the pernicious effect of the Fed’s shenanigans is fractal, reverberating upward to the central banks of the world and downward to those who have fallen out of the middle class, trying to leverage credit card debt.

Try to tell an “investment professional” that you want your portfolio to include something tangible, such as precious metals or rental properties.

You will get this blank look. The system is rigged to peddle illusions. So I gave the guy, and his bow-tied B-school intern, a short-course on why money is illusory and most investing strategies delusional.

If a Collapse comes and my tenants cannot pay rent, I can still let them live there free. Were rule of law to return, I’d have a title. If not, I’d have some new friends. Of course, my model is more like Stephen Bullock’s in World Made By Hand. Better to rule the serfs than be one.

    • Petro October 26, 2015 at 10:51 am #

Or try to explain to someone that you feel more comfortable having a good portion of your savings in cash (at least, if not metals), in a safe place at home, rather than existing as little digits on a screen at the bank. They’ll shake their head and look at you like you’re a silly old woman from the 1930s, hiding money in her bra or mattress.

      • Beryl of Oyl October 26, 2015 at 1:49 pm #

I’m thinking of my silly grandmother, how she sent two of her children to college, paying cash, by essentially doing what you describe.

“Can you fight? Bullock could. If you can’t, one of the serfs will make himself your Lord.”

And therein lies the rub – in a nation of 310 million people (with some 300 million guns floating around to trump those samurai swords), if Collapse comes and it’s every man for himself, with the Rule of Law simply a quaint old relic of bygone days as we revert to some sort of Hobbesian dystopia, then anyone’s odds of long-term survival – be it as serf or Lord – are significantly reduced.

Which is why we need to figure out how to hold the threads of civilization together even under the worst circumstances.

tons of tech jobs and you don’t need a degree, just ability, which can be learned yourself with tons of help online from others more advanced.

    dice.com tech jobs results

    “java” – 17,000 jobs

    “html” – 8,600 jobs

    “css” – 7,100 jobs

    “javascript” – 12,100 jobs

    “mainframe” – 1,300 jobs

    “Android” – 2,500 jobs

    “iOS – 2,900 jobs

    etc. etc.

all this can be learned online to an advanced level.

i am personally learning how to write an Android smartphone app, it’s not “easy” but with perseverence I will get it to work

after Android, I will learn how to code my app for iOS devices.

it is a business app so the point is to make money.

it’s not rocket science, it’s not “easy”, but it’s doable

age is irrelevant, i would be termed “too old” for this hahaha joke’s on them that think that way

for those who can’t learn to program (most young people should be able to since they’ve grown up with computers) then learn to fix appliances, etc.

    something USEFUL

is this too much to ask?

    • K-Dog October 26, 2015 at 10:57 am #

If you are writing an Android app you must be using Java. Please let us know how things go when you actually look for a job. ‘Dice’ and other job market business publications tend to accent the positive, minimize the negative, fibbing about job opportunities. The same job can get counted a dozen times as different temp agencies each make their own listings.

High paying programming jobs with benefits fall into the category of ‘great work if you can get it’. Let us know how it goes, unless you already have a job.

      • Beryl of Oyl October 26, 2015 at 1:39 pm #

My brother had that type of job, without any degree, there weren’t such degrees when he got started. He lost that job in the economic collapse. He doesn’t work in that field any longer, no one is going to hire someone his age for that work.
Jobs in the “tech” field are starting to feel the effects of the push to drive wages down, due to whatever they call outsourcing when they bring the workers here to take jobs away, ‘no compete’ clauses by the major firms, etc., it’s just taking longer.

    • Zoltar October 26, 2015 at 1:00 pm #

Writing apps for smartphones is “useful” until it isn’t any more. Then programming of any sort will be as useful as being skilled at making buggy whips.

Actually less so, come to think of it. Buggy whips will be coming back.

Indeed we are immersed and caught in the matrix of our institutions of dualism. We try to find solutions in the politics of the left and right in the religion of good God and evil Devil and the economics of the rich ,the upper class and the poor lower class. Occasionally destructive rage breaks out and we goose step into the next abyss. The pundits of the powers that be keep us entertained in this Matrix. Reality is the solution. Our existence depends on the balance of the natural world. I haven’t decided if Mother Nature is a liberal or a facist or a Mormon or Islamist or a member of the upper class. Go figure.

Real banks can stay. Your kind of hucksterism, with its make believe money, has to go. As Jefferson said, the only people who should be allowed to lend money are those who actually have it. Simple. Money has to be kept close to the physical world which it is supposed to represent. The first step in that is to not allow bankers to lend what they don’t have.

As Jim suggests in the WMBH books, religion and all manner of superstition will come roaring back following collapse. In retrospect, our lifetimes will have turned out to be about as rational a period as the human race achieves.

To suppose that people will give up religion under such circumstances is fatuous in the extreme. What they will forsake is a great deal of what we have learned from science since the Enlightenment.

Banks, on the other hand, will disappear as you hope. Unfortunately, mattresses will not turn out to be very secure places to store wealth and thievery will flourish.

    2008 Jim?

For most people you might as well be talking about the great financial collapse of 1893. Its an unfortunate event from long, long ago, better left forgotten, with the hope all those problems have been solved by the wise men and women at the Federal Reserve Bank in DC.

Well, the balance of power was not in favor of “american people”, besides, Congress didn’t use “american people” money to bail out the financial system, “american people” simply do not have any, so they just robbed the entire world, leveraging status of dollar as reserve currency.

The sub prime crisis had its roots in government policies. Almost all financial meltdowns including The Great Depression had their origins in real estate bubble. Not excusing Wall St., but they simply provided the loans that were necessary to finance homes to people who couldn’t afford them in the first place. All of this government meddling goes back as far as FDR and the creation of Fannie Mae. The Community Reinvestment Act forced banks to make all of those crummy loans, and it was Wall St. who stupidly and greedily re-packaged them into derivatives. But why were they allowed by regulators to do that? Essentially, it all boils down to government meddling in markets. For decades politicians from both parties have screwed around with the real estate market calling it the “bedrock of the American dream”, etc. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be any government involvement in markets, only that they should focus their attention on things that have the potential to truly wreck the economy such as banks and Wall St. I blame Congress for not reining in all the excesses in the derivative market and for allowing banks to be to big to fail. Glass Steagal should never have been repealed, an Wall St. gamblers should gamble with their own money.

Government policies are supposed to create growth. Without growth there is no opportunity. This is hogwash. Sustainable. That should be the goal. Growth as an ideology arose primarily from the use of fossil fuels. The more you burned the more you had. But it also grew because the central banking paradigm required more and more money creation to stave off a deflationary spiral. This is the financial snake oil we’ve all been led to believe. We know what works. The gold standard. Real money. But the world wars and the depression took all our gold and now the bankers will never let it go unless they are over turned. Sustainable. Conservation. These words have to enter the discourse or we are doomed.

        • elysianfield October 26, 2015 at 6:40 pm #

          Wolfie,
Yes, the gold standard worked…until it didn’t.

          • seawolf77 October 27, 2015 at 12:51 pm #

Bankers contracting the money supply and engineering a depression which required the suspension of the gold standard is not the same as it stopped working.

      • truthteller October 26, 2015 at 4:02 pm #

You’ve got it in reverse. The banks controlled the government.
Regulatory capture. The fix was in and the bailout was ensured.
So while greed was in play, it wasn’t stupidity.

Hey, fodase, prove it: write a one-line programming statement that changes the content of memory cell A1 to 1 if it contains 2, and to 2 if it contains 1.

“can’t wait to see how far you get with that defeatist attitude.”

      I’m doing fine.

OOP will be fine once you have your a-ha moment and stop thinking procedurally.

So what kind of medical / dental insurance do you get. What percentage of it do you pay? How many days of vacation days do you get or are you strictly doing contracts?

30K would definitely have to be entry level. In 2012 the per capita income in the U.S. was $42,693.

I’m not a fatalist I’m a realist who knows there is not quite enough to go around despite your optimistic spin. Many are doing fine like you and me but that does not go for everybody and the ‘job market’ always claims things are better than true reality. It is in their best interest of those who profit from the job market to do so.

The true unemployment rate is now down to 10% which is better than it was. An improvement I’ll agree.

Truman may have been right about Nixon, but that insecure little bigot got a lot of other things wrong. One big one was his paranoid, anti-communist-fueled instigation of the Cold War, thus converting the WWII war economy into a permanent one for the next 60 years. Trillions of $$ poured down a pointless, unproductive sh*thole. What might our country (and its economy) look like if all that money hadn’t been wasted?

IMF ready to add yuan to reserve currency basket

The International Monetary Fund is about to give a green light to the inclusion of the Chinese yuan to the reserve basket of currencies. The final decision is due in November.

“Everything is on course technically and there is no obvious political obstacle. The report leans clearly towards including the RMB [yuan] in the basket but leaves the decision for the board,” an IMF official told Reuters, preferring not to be named.

“There is no real discussion, no obstacles, all seems on course,” another official added.

    https://www.rt.com/business/319678-imf-yuan-reserve-currency/

Wow, that’s real news! Who’d thought that salvo of 26 Russian missiles from the Caspian would have such a sobering effect on IMF officials?

tons of tech jobs and you don’t need a degree, just ability, which can be learned yourself with tons of help online – foda se

    ================

If you have this tech ability, why cannot I get an answer to the simple question I asked in last week’s thread: Do you (or any other commenter) see anything in the comments section in boldface type (other than screen names which are produced by the CFN system) and, if you do, how did the commenter create this bold faced type.

Note: I learned how to italicize but still can’t do bolding.

    • Beryl of Oyl October 26, 2015 at 2:01 pm #

      I just use capitals, myself.

      • Q. Shtik October 26, 2015 at 3:03 pm #

Jesus, why will no one answer my question: when you look at the CFN comments on YOUR monitor do you see some words in boldface? If yes then, obviously, it is possible to achieve boldface.

On my monitor there are NO boldfaced words…so, whatever YOU see as boldfaced is not boldfaced on my monitor. This tells me that maybe the browser being used accounts for the difference. I am using Internet Explorer.

Now, if someone will just tell me they, indeed, see some boldfaced words I would then ask them, what browser are you using?

    • S M Tenneshaw October 26, 2015 at 2:26 pm #

Normally “”bold stuff”” (without the quotes) works.

      Lets’ see: bold stuff

      • S M Tenneshaw October 26, 2015 at 2:27 pm #

Yay. Not bad for an old IBM COBOL geezer, if I do say so myself.

        • S M Tenneshaw October 26, 2015 at 2:31 pm #

That didn’t actually help, did it?

          Actually
followed by the text you want
          followed by

          should do it.

      • Q. Shtik October 26, 2015 at 3:17 pm #

Am I to assume that the words bold stuff appear on your monitor in boldfaced type? because they are NOT boldfaced on my monitor.

        • S M Tenneshaw October 26, 2015 at 3:41 pm #

You are correct. It displays in bold for me.

I think I’ll give up now. Except for wishing and hoping for a DELETE button.

          • Q. Shtik October 26, 2015 at 3:48 pm #

OK, now we’re getting somewhere. Those 2 words are bolded on your monitor but not on mine. Now, next question: what browser are you using?

          • S M Tenneshaw October 26, 2015 at 5:01 pm #

            Firefox.

    • Janos Skorenzy October 26, 2015 at 3:01 pm #

    if (A1 = 2)
    A1 = 1
    elseif (A1 = 1)
    A1 = 2
    end

yes i know this can be done with less syntax depending on the language, but you didn’t specify a language

    • FincaInTheMountains October 26, 2015 at 12:46 pm #

    • Q. Shtik October 26, 2015 at 1:34 pm #

I have no idea what you’re talking about……..I’m an old fart and technically challenged.

  29. fodase October 26, 2015 at 12:40 pm #

Q, system nixed my html . just do what you do for italicizing words, but replace the i with a lowercase b. that’s it

    • Q. Shtik October 26, 2015 at 1:28 pm #

I tried that a million times………..still NO BOLD.

Now, please answer this question which neither you nor anyone else has answered: Do you see anything in these comments in bold faced type?

I see NOTHING in boldface, even from those like you who say they can do it.

      • Buck Stud October 26, 2015 at 3:09 pm #

        Q,

Perhaps you’re chasing the wind and there should be no need for bold. In other words, why does the written word, if powerfully expressed, need a visual amplification?. Similarly, why should visual art rely on a narrative crutch–it’s not literature after all?

Of course I’m not suggesting that visual art is not suited to express a narrative; indeed the highest art is when form visually embodies narrative. Likewise, the formal/grammatical arrangement of the text can, for example, embody the psyche/emotional state of a character: brief abrupt statements for the accountant with a slide ruler and dictionary; incoherent run on sentences for the panicked; abbreviated sentences for the dull and depressed etc, etc, etc.

Or maybe there’s something about big and black that really ‘drives home’ a point?

        • S M Tenneshaw October 26, 2015 at 3:43 pm #

          Ommmmmmm

        • Q. Shtik October 26, 2015 at 3:44 pm #

And STILL you haven’t said if you see some words bolded.

Forget all the philosophizing about whether I do or don’t need the ability to bold in order to express myself. Let me be the judge of that.

          • S M Tenneshaw October 26, 2015 at 5:03 pm #

As Ol’ Hillary would say, what difference does it make?

            Dad,

SM Tenn’s poast did show up as bold for me, but you could always fall back on what I use: *BOLD*!!! (works in my email client)

2nd turtle is saying: “There is one turtle in front of me and one behind”

3d turtle is saying: “There are two turtles in front of me and one behind”

No, WalterB, nobody wants to know, they’d rather go with the herd which explains a lot including the ongoing sheep-fuck on Wall Street.

Most people will accept the most outrageous lies as long as their colleagues and neighbors say they believe. Professing belief makes them one of the herd and there’s great comfort in that.

People expect your acceptance and participation in the lies because it validates their taking part in the farce. Do you value your employment, your professional affiliations, your social life? Then open wide and swallow. It makes your compadres feel good about themselves. Don’t you want that?

What’s this you’re saying? That they’re shoving at you the most pathetically stupid unbelievable shit and, if you act on it, you’ll be hurt?

Walter, Walter, Walter, if you want the benefits of group association then there is a price. Besides, you poor old fool, don’t you understand, in the end, you don’t fucking matter. Neither do I.

See, these lies benefit someone and it ain’t you. Or me.

Get one thing through your thick head Walter, in the LONG run, stocks ALWAYS go up. ALWAYS. Shut up, no argument, that’s how it is.

Now how much company stock are you buying? What about the mutual fund your boss recommended?

Do you remember all the saluting going on before the invasion of Iraq? If you want to be part of the group, you MUST profess belief. Did YOU salute?

Saddam was conspiring with who-knows-what bearded dirt-bag and building god-knows-what WMD and that’s it. BELIEVE!

So, there it is, Wall Street spouts gibberish, lies like absolute hell, screws everyone in sight and no matter, people STILL line up like the sheep they are, and get fucked.

    Hello,

    It seems that Mr. Kunstler feels that a healthy dose of plain speaking is order. To whit;

“In effect, Mr. Bernanke (and Barack Obama’s Department of Justice), decided that the rule of law was no longer needed for the system to operate. In fact, the rule of law only hampered it.”-JHK.

That’s been the administration’s answer to every systemic problem: just nullify best practice, rules & regulations, legal requirements and processes, rule of law and maintenance of good order… They’re operating just a step above anarchy – Classic Despotism – ‘ruling by decree’ essentially.

Which makes every plea to try to fix the system by using that same corrupt system completely absurd.

“The recovery of equity markets from the disturbances of August has apparently convinced the market players that stocks are invincible. Complacency reigns at epic levels. Few are ready for what is coming.”-JHK.

Too bad for them. Everyone’s been warned at least once at this point. Death, Decay and Devaluation will wait for *No One*.

    Cheers!

    😉

Felicidad, fodase, back to cow’s dang rant.

Let me spell it out for you, people: all we’ve been talking about here worth absolutely nothing.

It is all about whether United States, Russia, China and Europe would be able to negotiate new voting rights in Bretton Woods Institutions, particular IMF according to the agreements reached back in 2010 and blocked by American Party of War in US Congress.

If they will, everything soon will go back to normal – US will suffer, but not catastrophically. Technologically, US are equipped to weather the storm may be better than anybody else.

If they won’t, we are facing a breakup of the World into Currency zones with potential soon to come military confrontation and all bets are off.

“American people” have very little to do with all that, sorry.

And even the prophet himself went crazy so this Re-evaluation of All Values is not going well. In fact I like my Dad’s world better but we are not going back there. I reflect on the cartoon of everyone in line for “A Reassuring Lie” instead of “An Inconvenient Truth”. That’s about where we are. It’s hard to criticize someone who prefers a loving God and a moral universe. It’s possible Truth does not include us but that is not a selling point for truth.

The most satisfied political “customers” were (or used to be) the citizens of the Liberal Socialist states of Northern Europe. Small, Homogenous, and with a highly intelligent, literate, and well educated population. It takes a lot of co-mingling factors to make for a happy individual or social life. Change one and the balance may be queered. Subtract one and the happiness may evaporate. After all, it takes only a very small hole to sink a very large ship. And a tiny bit of inflamed nerve (as in a tooth) can take away all happiness.

As the homogeneity of the Northern European states is erased, we can expect a radical decrease in political contentment. Some of these places were among the happiest in the world – that going to go too.

Janos, semitic or anti-semitic has nothing to do with the presented turtle’s problem. They going in circles does not explain the situation – in that case everything is symmetric and they all would have to say exact same thing.

What do we do about our debt? Write the Bankers a check with an infinite amount of zeroes and then let them worry about finding someplace to “cash” it. That’s what they did to us basically, over the last few generations since the founding of the so called Federal Reserve Bank (it’s not Federal, there are no reserves, and it’s not a bank).

Now that would be cutting the knot! Obviously you would have to be ready to fight the blue helmets or Soros funded Orcs. But with a good War King it would be possible. The Romans would elect a War King in times of War. It worked for a long time – they would do their duty and then step down and Rome would become a Republic again. Until the rise of the Caesars. Caesar worship grew from below not from above – nothing/anything as explained to Sea Wolf.

Besides Russia secretly warned “the one who must not be named” that if the high-altitude Stingers will be in the hands of so-called “moderate” opposition to Assad, they will not only give them to ISIS that undoubtedly will use them against US aircraft in Iraq and Syria, but similar systems may wind up in the hands of the “Taliban” in Afghanistan.

    TheDailyBeast: A Taliban-Russia Team-Up Against ISIS?

The Taliban are quietly opening dialogues with the former Soviet states on Afghanistan’s border, and with Moscow.
KABUL — The Taliban are not as lonely as they once were. The pariahs who protected Osama bin Laden and quickly collapsed when the U.S. counter-attacked after September 11, 2001, have been developing contacts with neighboring states and even with Russia, driven out of Afghanistan in 1989.

There’s nothing simple about this picture, and, interestingly, it appears partly tied to Russian efforts to oppose the spread in Afghanistan of groups pledging allegiance to the so-called Islamic State in Syria and Iraq. That same concern has helped to forge links between the Taliban and their long-time enemies in Iran.

Trump is a mixed bag but he might assist in creating the climate.
However Anglin like most of the American hard right implies communist Russia was gay friendly.

    from wiki
In 1933, Joseph Stalin added Article 121 to the entire Soviet Union criminal code, which made male homosexuality a crime punishable by up to five years in prison with hard labor. The precise reason for Article 121 is in some dispute among historians. The few official government statements made about the law tended to confuse homosexuality with pedophilia and was tied up with a belief that homosexuality was only practiced among fascists or the aristocracy.

The law remained intact until after the dissolution of the Soviet Union; it was repealed in 1993.[15][16]

    • BackRowHeckler October 26, 2015 at 10:09 pm #

That law might have been repealed, but homosexuals in Russia are not having an easy time of it even today.

Russia is not known a a Gay Friendly place, and Putin, unlike Obama, is no Friend of Queers.

“the ploy has been copied by authorities throughout the global financial system, including the central banks of China, Japan, and the European Community”

Actually, Jim, I suspect they learned it from Japan, who have been doing it for decades and have a frightful deficit to show for it. The Chinese have too, in their own monumental way, but I doubt they ever got the fawning admiration and emulation that the Japanese did at their height, with Walmart, for example, claiming itself a “family” (and so we won’t go to the police with what Uncle Joe did, now will we?).

Japanese society has always considered appearances to be more important than substance. It’s intrinsic and probably relates back to Confucianism’s focus on harmony. They acknowledge an “official reality” versus a “real reality” and pay lip service to the former. Americans lack the advantage of recognizing this fact of social behavior. I suspect that even with this mitigating realization, it remains Japan’s Achilles heel, because people tend to pick whichever “reality” they want to believe, and the whole system eventually collapses under the weight of individual fantasies.

“they learned it from Japan, who have been doing it for decades and have a frightful deficit to show for it.” –Pat Ormsby

There is nothing frightful about a deficit. They go up. They go down. But they are not frightening. Debt is the order of the day. When you have been “doing it for decades” … the scare factor evaporates.

“the total amount by which money spent is more than money received”

A deficit is abstract, not real, an absence. Not frightful.

TOKYO (AP) – Japan’s trade deficit narrowed in September to 114.5 billion yen ($955 million)

If the deficit decreases, as Japan’s has… then what? What is the opposite of “frightful”?

    Look at this.

Lot of new diseases breaking out in Germany, including diseases eradicated years ago, like TB and a strain smallpox. The system is overwhelmed, and made worse by Muslim men refusing to be treated by German female doctors. And they’re still arriving, 10,000 per day.

This is historic. This is what ends civilizations. Meanwhile, in Belgium, the gay US ambassador, son of a former BoA president, recently married his husband in a gala state wedding attended by none other than the King himself. The groom and groom were well turned out, resplendent in their tailored dark suits. PBS filmed it for posterity, looking on approvingly, suggesting that this is the sort of American diplomacy we should have more of if we want the world to like us. The only sour note was sounded by a Belgium politician who suggested this would not go over too well in any other place except Scandanavia or Northern Europe, for example, Russia, where they might find themselves floating down the Volga with the ice flows.

Gentlemen, its falling apart, and there’s no putting it back together. Its every man for himself now.

The function of the central bank is to finance the welfare-warfare state by counterfeiting money….there is no other way to feed and house the half of the population that is too botched to do anything useful. Basic math explains why sound money is no longer feasible.
Let’s say 100 million americans receive an average govt check of $1200/ month (very very low estimate) i.e. roughly one ounce of gold per month at today’s pricing. This would require sending out about 100 million ounces of gold per month. There are only 150 million ounces of gold in Fort Knox i.e. 1.5 months worth for the freeloaders and then it’s all gone. A return to sound money is no longer possible.

“Let’s say 100 million americans receive an average govt check of $1200/ month… i.e. 1.5 months worth for the freeloaders and then it’s all gone.” –nsa

Freeloaders? 56 million of those receiving checks are receiving Social Security. The so-called “Freedom Caucus” is attacking Social Security and Medicare.

Let’s see, the 56 million recipients (not “freeloaders”) have paid into Social Security, some for close to 50 years — THEIR MONEY. The “Freedom Caucus” has absolutely NO right, nor do they have any mandate, to alter the benefits millions have paid for and now collect in their retirement years.

Medicare–The same thing. The 56 million recipients (not “freeloaders”) paid premiums for decades, since its founding, and now, extremist conservatives think they have the right to usurp the benefits this program provides to the retired? Those premiums funded THEIR benefits and the extremists best keep their hands off Medicare as well.

Stop raiding the Social Security trust fund for pet projects. Stop raiding Social Security to underwrite an excessive, corrupt, bloated, fraud-ridden military program. Raise the income limit upon which Social Security taxes are based. Raise the cap!

Those who are retired also vote and when Republicans make moves that are ideolgically and functionally anti-American worker, they will be defeated.

nsa, this is racist fear-mongering poppycock. Europe will become stronger thanks to the refugees.

Why is Germany the strongest economy in Europe? Because thousands of Turkish immigrants began arriving in the 1950s. Germany is now diverse, that means Germany is strong… Germany is now into the third generation of Turkish immigrants. Same will happen with Syrian refugees who are doctors, lawyers, etc. professionals and trades workers of many areas who will learn German and make Germany even stronger.

You appear to have no sense of 20th century history. 72,000 Turkish entrepreneurs who arrived in Germany as immigrants have created 300,000 jobs. This is not the first time Islam has arrived in Europe (Turks are mostly Sunni Muslims) to make Europe stronger.

Between Beijing and Washington ignites a serious conflict. China is tired of waiting when the US will begin to perceive it as a full-fledged world leader with its national currency as a worthy addition to global IMF basket. And Beijing began active steps of self-introduction to the market. And a key partner in this process on the side of Beijing is London.

Last week there was an unprecedented in length and solemnity State visit of Xi Jinping’s to the UK. The Queen herself gave ride to Xi in her royal carriage and personally approved the menu of festive table, and Kate Middleton wore dress colors of the Chinese flag. Immediately everybody was talking about a strategic alliance Beijing-London, and across the “pond” heard the voices of the betrayal of Britain and the destruction of the unity of the Western world.

For the US, this process brings many threats of losing the leading position of the dollar in world finance. That is why the United States strongly impede reform of the IMF and the World Bank.

Dmitry MININ: Infantilism is an accurate diagnosis of the US Middle East policy

The behavior of the US administration after the start of the Russian military operation in Syria is more reminiscent of the child’s hurt feelings because his favorite toy was taken away, the one he had just tore the legs off and was very close to tearing its head off.

He is being explained that the toy is taken away in his own interests, otherwise he would be left without the object of his affection, but he is still hurt.

At the same time he seems to understand that he’s not right, but cannot help himself. He understands perfectly what he had done, but will do the same in the future.

White House reaction to Russian proposals for cooperation in the fight against “Islamic state” one can’t define anything but infantile.

Washington cannot counter Russian actions openly – by implication and by international legal standards these actions are blameless, no matter what Western propaganda says.

To organize a serious disturbance in the theater of military operations is also a no go: it is very unreliable American clientele on the ground: any action could Boomerang from them and bury multiple political careers.

No democratic or republican candidate will go near marching on a union picket line. Independent socialist Bernie Sanders was there yesterday.

“Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) slammed Verizon on Monday during a surprise stop at a protest organized by a union that’s bargaining with the company for a new contract.

Appearing at a picket line hosted by the Communications Workers of America in Times Square on Monday, Sanders criticized Verizon for not treating its union workers well, saying the company is a “metaphor” for corporate greed taking place nationwide.

“Middle class in this country is disappearing, and what Verizon is doing to their workers is exactly what has got to be fought if we’re going to rebuild the American middle class,” Sanders said to loud cheers from the union audience.

“All over this country, Verizon is a metaphor,” he said. “You’ve got corporate America making huge profits, their CEOs getting huge compensation packages. And then with all of their money, what they do is hire lawyers in order to make it harder for workers to survive in this country.”

capt spaulding, violations of an individual’s data is only possible when companies cooperate with the government. If you have an Android, (Microsoft, Google, etc.) related device, your privacy will be violated.

If you have Apple products, your privacy will be preserved. Here is a report from BBC on Apple’s refusal to cooperate with government:

“Ordering Apple to access data against its will would be akin to making a reluctant drug company carry out a lethal injection, a US judge has said. Judge James Orenstein was hearing a US government request to make it retrieve information from a locked iPhone seized by law enforcement officers.

On Monday, the judge expressed doubt that he had the authority to do so. Apple has agreed to similar requests previously but is now refusing, saying it would erode customers’ trust.

Referring to the US Department of Justice’s request for him to order Apple to help it unlock the phone, the judge said: “What you’re asking [Apple] to do is do work for you.”

And he compared the request to a hypothetical one in which the government was asking him to order a drug company to take part in an execution against its conscientious objection.

He asked the department’s lawyer, Saritha Komatireddy, whether or not he would have the legal authority to do so.

Ms Komatireddy asked to respond in writing, adding that the hypothetical was “somewhat inflammatory”.

    “Purposefully so,” the judge responded.

Apple has argued that the order the government is seeking would be burdensome, in part because of the erosion of its customers’ trust.

Apple also said it lacked the technical ability to unlock phones running its newer operating systems, iOS8 and iOS9, though the phone at issue in the case runs an older system.

Ms Komatireddy questioned whether unlocking the phone would really be a burden for Apple, noting the company “has been doing this for years without any objection”.

The judge pressed Apple’s lawyer, Marc Zwillinger, to explain the company’s change of heart.

Mr Zwillinger said the company had become more concerned about customer data in light of recent high-profile data breaches.

“Right now, Apple is aware that customer data is under siege from a variety of different directions,” he said.

The judge asked both sides to submit additional letters addressing his questions to the court by Wednesday and said he would rule as soon as he could.

Ms Komatireddy said at the hearing that the US Drug Enforcement Administration and the FBI were taking part in the underlying investigation, which is not public.

It’s an amazing thing, what Wall Streeters say with a straight face.

Like what Lloyd Blankfein (Goldman CEO) said, that Goldman clients don’t or shouldn’t care that Goldman is betting against the very investment Goldman sells the client.

What shit is this? If YOU were buying an investment from Goldman, wouldn’t YOU care that Goldman was placing bets against that same investment? Wouldn’t YOU see a conflict of interest?

I would have some questions if I was the client. Like, Mr Blankfein, why the fuck are you betting against it? Are you misrepresenting the nature of this paper? Do you know something you’re not telling me?

If I was the client I would walk away from the deal, simple as that. But that’s just me. I mean WTF do I know?

Goldman is a market heavyweight and so it utterly defies common sense to say that a client wouldn’t care. It would defy common sense even if Goldman were small-fry. The same questions would apply.

I mean, if I was the client, I’d be in the investment to MAKE money, not to lose money.

Wall Street and corporate America say they don’t want government regulation. Yet, by their actions and utterances, they BEG for it. If they don’t want regulation, then they should stop behaving like assholes.

We live on a country built on debt with a populace supported by debt (mortgages, auto loans, school loans, small business loans, personal loans, GI Bills, state subsidized *bonds* education in state colleges and public schools, military pensions, etc). Again, it’s a giant house of card, at this point, who cares that we’re using glue to keep it together when we know that the idea of some magical balancing act being able to keep it aloft simply does not exist. Get over it. Move on. Sure, I’d like to se tariffs and locally production, but unlike the return to simpler time coterie that feeds off this stuff, I still have my sanity.

Yes anything is better for you than White Americans pondering names like Goldman, Sacks, Blankfein, Ben Shalom Bernanke, Greenspan, etc. The rubes might start to see a pattern here. And of course you want us to put up with it – you would. But it’s better for us if we don’t.

And sure, we were dumb and greedy and allowed ourselves to be duped. If you guys didn’t do it, someone else might well have. But you are the ones who did in fact – and you are the ones who are going to have to face the music.

    • ZrCrypDiK October 27, 2015 at 10:07 pm #

You know, it was all pretty bullet-proof until, “I’d like to se tariffs and locally production…” But yeah, I agree – we’re all responsible, and the consequences ‘are all ours’ (say that 3 times fast – call it karma?).

… who cares “that we’re using glue” to keep …

I’d suggest, “what kind of glue we’re using” It’s all really about the forests, and clearcutting – something everyone’s been fully aware of since about ’77 or so. But somehow, *NOW*, this extinction of the forest habitat/species no longer ‘plays’ in the biased (multi?) media-mix…

      • Frankiti October 29, 2015 at 5:38 am #

My point is that I agree that one way to rescue the economy is to have one of scale, to do that you would need to locally source production and resources. The US has the resources, but the industry is gone. To bring it back you would need to compete with production in nations that do not have the wage, benefits, and environmental laws that we do. That’s where tariffs come in. The US can’t compete with indentured servants working in factories that dump effluents into the waters and clouds of toxins into the air. So we tax imports from places that do at a staggering rate. That ever happening in a world that bought into “free trade” as well as “401s” for everyone is another pipe dream in CFN.

        • ZrCrypDiK October 29, 2015 at 4:38 pm #

“a world that bought into “free trade” as well as “401s” for everyone”

Yeah, I call them slave laborers in China/India/Mexico/etc – the ‘1st world’ middle class is (are?) now the indentured servants. The ‘low’ price of oil allows “them” to ship product to and fro, with nary an impact on *costs*…

As to 401ks, yeah, those Republicans were pushing that meme hard yesterday evening. I still have a 401k that I invested in until ’97, and it’s worth exactly what it was worth back then – and it’s of the, “diversified low risk, long term” variety ($50k). Peanuts, really…

I was talking to Q. I assume you are against good minimum wages or any?

I’m torn – it will hurt small business, but wages do have to go up one way or another. The status quo is not viable as it steals from the public via welfare. The consumer and the business owners should be the ones paying more. And of course the whole system is skewed and needs to be reformed from the top down.

          • elysianfield October 28, 2015 at 6:12 pm #

” I assume you are against good minimum wages or any?”

The government (Federal, State, or Municipal) will have to take action to insure a living wage (at some level) for the workers. Currently, the Federal Government subsidizes the businesses who pay a paltry minimum wage with food stamps, housing, etc…

At one time the Unions were many, and, however corrupt, served the purpose of generating a middle-class in this country. The Government will have to serve the same function. In my youth, I did not think this way, and was anti-union… I support a viable minimum wage.

Political tolerance is defined as a willingness to extend basic constitutional rights — the right to speak, to publish, to run for office — to offensive groups and ideas.

Tolerance – the medical term is taken from the transplantation science and it is the organism’s inability to distinguish alien bodies.

Such a state is reached by gradual suppression of the immune system using various toxic substances, causing its apathy and indifference.

In immunology tolerance – is the inability of the immune system to distinguish foreign organisms (viruses, bacteria, fungi) and to deal with them.

    Special something for brh

Black flags with the seal of the Prophet were flown all over Europe…

European Caliphate troops suddenly appearing out of nowhere formed of millions of former refugees in a single day, after an attempt to disperse anti-Christian demonstrations, smashed police stations. They seized arsenals and military bases, ports and railway stations, communication and TV centers. After the capture of the Spanish, French, Greek and Italian ports the old Europe was flooded the uncontrolled flow of people. And weapons … weapons the old whore always had…

The calls for a holy war were heard on all radio stations and on all TV channels. Day and night, 24 hours sounded Arabic, Turkish, Albanian speech with an appeal to the faithful for a holy war.

Sybaritic, demoralized armies, in addition undermined by the internal enemy were quickly scattered like dust in the wind. France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, and Italy- all the old Europe fell!

TV picture was full of fire explosions, cheering crowds, cut off heads and destroyed churches. Only the BBC continued to assert that Brits are still holding. And no wonder: after blowing up a tunnel Saxons brought their Grand Fleet to the English Channel and it blew everything that moved over the sea and shot everything that moved on the ground.

Switzerland and parts of Austria and Italy still held – the mountain rangers fought to the death on the passes. In the Balkans, Serbs and Montenegrins fiercely fought the Kosovars and Albanians. Hungarians accumulated forces in Balatona – preparing to repel the armies of the Emir Ali. Czechs were grouped in the area of Teplice, ready to strike at the flank – to help the remnants of the Bundeswehr, holding Dresden until approach of the Polish divisions of armored cavalry. Chances where practically nil, unless … unless the Russians will arrive in time…

Wojciech Gamula, head of the border crossing at Sinyavka grimly looked at the crowds of people crowding the nearby beach. There were … There were many, many! Tens of thousands … tens of thousands of cars filled the street and up to Zittau! An old bridge could not withstand the weight of a car – and sappers of 1st Demblinskogo regiment were hastily putting together pontoons. Waiting for them to finish the work on shore pranced battalion of mounted riflemen.

From the west came the distant rumble and the crowd became agitated, human brook flowed faster carefully avoiding holes in the old bridge… Some rushed to their cars and tried to move out of the hive, increasing the confusion even more. A distant machine gun fire was heard…

    – Czestochowska Matka Bosqa! – Gamula ran to the bridge – Krzysztof, Janek, to me !!!!

The two guards, turning from the human lines, rushed to him.

    – Janek, you run to sappers on the bridge! Organize people – we need a pass for the shooters, put people in the cars, everyone must have time to cross! I follow you! Run!!!

Running up to the almost ready bridge he realized he did not have time … Battalion began the crossing! Horsemen swept over the bridge in pairs, bending low to the necks of the horses, keeping a clear interval of one and a half horse body. Frightened sappers fled by jumping over the low railing and now covered shooters with dirty profanity.

Horsemen huddled tighter, escaped from the crowd and now rushed to the forest, unfolded a picturesque banner. After them followed the curses in German, Polish, Hungarian, Czech, English … Without paying any attention to it, the battalion began to turn to the left, stretching out in a line, bypassing the woods to the south …

High bushes sagged and broke under the heavy weight. From the forest line rolled out four M2 “Bradley” swinging automatic guns. Infantry under the black banner of the Prophet fell from the armor, taking positions.

Shooters, sensing the inevitable, tried to flee in different directions, leaving the line of attack … but they were not given a chance – hollow spoke 25-mm M242, more quickly echoed M240S. Black infantry firing half horns were not too zealous, mostly having fun … within a few minutes- it was all over, only horses struggled in the dying throes…

The crowd numb with terror, swaying like a single organism, issued discordant shriek and rushed into the river, trampling each other. People pushing, fighting, scratching, screaming women and children in a thin voice on a hysterical note … The old bridge could not stand the weight and collapsed under the crowd. A lot of people mingled with pieces of metal, wood, concrete pillars falling, falling into the river, drowning under the weight of rubble of the bridge that fall on their bodies taking the lives of more and more…

Gamula heard shouts – Allahu akbar! And close shots…

Groaning, Gamula crawled out, trying to pull the gun out of the holster with his rebellious, bloody fingers…

“Bradleys” were slowly approaching. Swarthy Caliphate fighters with shining smiles were having fun – shooting running in all directions terrified people…

Suddenly, one of the “Bradley” stopped, swelled and burst into a deafening explosion, carrying pieces of the dark-skinned bodies … then – second, third … fourth sharply tried to wag, but stumbled on an invisible barrier and exploded as well…

There was a roar of propellers…. low over the ground, with carnivorously bent noses, flew Mi-28H – The Night Hunters.

The Russian army, once again, was crossing the German border

Not too worry. Janos, I clicked on that link about the female European Defense Ministers. What could these ladies possibly defend against? A few weren’t too bad looking, tho. I’m sure ISIS militia is favorably impressed with the moms and grandmas heading up Europe’s Armies. I wonder what the plan is, now that the enemy has overrun their continent and is in amongst their people? Hand out burkhas? Build Mosques as fast as possible? Make ‘Sensitivity Training’ mandatory for all white Christian Europeans? Napolean had his crack Guardsmen, the Fuhrer has his SS formations, the ladies at the EU have the Dutch Army, fully unionized, Gay friendly, hair down to their asses, and stoned out of their minds. This is Western Civilizations’ last line of defense, the saviours of the former Christian Kingdoms.

Read the comments: we’re winning in the court of public opinion. Black nihilism will not be accepted during the Long Emergency. This ingrate Black “student” should not have been in school. She tried a Rosa Parks and got her Black ass dragged out of there.

She was disrupting the whole class. Refused to leave even for the Principle. Guess she was waiting for Black Jesus or Obama to come and lift her up – too lazy or willfull just to stand up and leave. Or just too ignorant. Too Black….

When are we going to admit the obvious: that school should only be for those who want to be there? For the right reasons that is. Why do we insist on making teachers into prison guards? They better wise up before Whites stop entering the profession. Already starting from what I’ve heard.

I agree with you on this as in Caine patiently sitting on the outside of the Shaolin Temple, and then once let in, subject to years of menial labor before getting the good stuff. He wanted to learn and thus made an excellent student

On the other hand, how many insolent punks are eventually transformed by academics into something positive for society. Ben Carson might say he was one of those types. And not only that, what is the cost to society for not at least trying to educate the initially unwilling and unmotivated?

I think you actually believe what you said. You should consider, however, that in even the worst ghetto, there are many decent people trying to live and raise their kids under horrible conditions. Trapped economically, unable to afford to move. Many pay taxes and have to suffer the crime, narcotics, gangs, worthless schools, and the indignity of living daily in fear and loathing. They are victims…very difficult to throw them to the wolves….

Hope this insight does not put me on some watch list at Langley….

You’re forgetting how great they are. Whites stole Civilization from them and have been holding them back ever since. Your insinuation that they need Whites is overtly racist in the deepest sense – as if you don’t believe in premise 1 and 2. In your future, that would mean being charged. We want that, which is just over the event horizon, to be a blooper universe. Instead let’s turn Black America into the biggest reality show since the fall of Rhodesia. It’s the only way guys like you are going to finally let go of the propaganda you absorbed as kids. THIS future is bright. Our future with them is not. As for them, they have no future and never have had any. They live in an eternal present, like animals or Zen Masters if you need that.

        • elysianfield October 28, 2015 at 1:07 am #

          Janos,

I am not making excuses for their ignorance, poverty, nor even their hatred of white police. I am speaking from experience…there are some people living in the ghetto that just don’t deserve the shit they have to daily eat.

My insinuation is they need adequate policing…white or otherwise, and there is little otherwise without lowering hiring standards, such as forgiving criminal records, drug use, lack of education, etc…and this forgiveness usually ends badly.

Many black mothers love their children just as yours loved you. They have the same hopes and aspirations for a decent life as did yours. Would you condemn these mothers out of hand? How about the 5 year old kid who has not yet been corrupted by the cess-pool in which he lives?

As far as the propaganda I absorbed as a kid…yes, I was at one time unaware of the differences in culture between the races, but I was soon disabused of childish notions while working as a street cop in an infamous west-coast ghetto city…on a Department oft criticized for their lack of “progressive” practices. All Blacks are not bad, nor are all Jews, Muslims, nor immigrants.
You are educated, you know better….

Then consider prison rape. Norman Mailer did.

          • Janos Skorenzy October 28, 2015 at 4:27 am #

Yeah but the “good ones” (Blacks, Hispanics, Jews, Gypsies, Muslims) support the bad ones – so yeah, it is all of them in general. Exceptions none? No, just too few to bother about as far as making policy.

I don’t condemn them, I just think we should wash our hands of them. They want to be free, set them free. Give them their own state in the deep South. I know: I’m thinking big. The primal sin in our age of mediocrity. But only thinking big and acting big will save us now. In terms of Churchill’s three stages, we are almost at the end of tears and about to go into the blood. The 21st Century is going to be worse than the 20th. We can wait passively for disaster to hit and massive dislocations of peoples to begin because of war – or we can head it off at the pass.

On the other hand, we owe the illegal Hispanics nothing, they should be driven out even if it means War. We’ll win that one and be incredibly empowered by it. Immigration cut to zero, both legal and illegal, a massive Trump Wall built that becomes a tourist Mecca, with dozens of hotels built along a revitalized border decimated by Mexican gangs and wetbacks – the future can be Bright but only if we become Fortress America.

          • Janos Skorenzy October 28, 2015 at 6:25 am #

We are dying but still you will not lay down your White Man’s Burden – and Liberalism is nothing but an inverted version of that. We used to think ourselves all Good and Powerful now we’re all Bad and Powerful – and therefore deserve what we get from our dark skinned moral superiors (the weaker, uglier, and more stupid, the more superior). And if they break us, is it over then? Oh what a question: of course not! Then comes revenge.

“I don’t condemn them, I just think we should wash our hands of them.”

            Janos,
I have no argument with you regarding the White man’s burden. I see the burden not as an obligation, but rather an intractable problem that is without solution…one that we currently bear because we cannot separate ourselves from it.

I have voted with my feet, and live in a very remote area (no cell phone service), that has little racial diversity. I live HERE because I worked THERE. Be it Immigration, race culture, etc, we have few differences of opinion…my only comment was one based on a sense of humanity… not misguided, Wpac variety insanity, but one based on the knowledge of what will transpire when adequate law enforcement is not provided. You would have to experience the predatory mentality of the Ghetto (and who amongst the readership has more of a perspective than I?) to feel compassion for those unfortunates who must suffer through it.

          • elysianfield October 28, 2015 at 6:31 pm #

“Presumably, race relations and community order would IMPROVE with an all minority force. Would it not be racist to think otherwise?”

            Stick,
Black cops are like any other…some good, some bad, some patient and understanding, some very, very violent. The problem with an all-minority force is that it is difficult to recruit that many officers (sometimes thousands on a department) from a minority demographic, and maintain standards. The department I was on was aggressively hiring minorities in the early 70’s…never could find enough to fill the slots. They lowered their standards, even hired tutors to teach some to read and write. Loosened the educational standards (only a GED required BEFORE the changes), overlook traffic offenses, etc. etc. Many applicants could not be accepted because of prior arrests, narcotic use, nor the ability to pass the most warm and fuzzy oral boards. Either you want standards or you don’t. I was calling for adequate law enforcement in the Ghetto, race notwithstanding.

    Captagon and the Arab Spring

BEIRUT, 26 October. / Correspondent. Dmitry Zelenin TASS /.

Lebanese security forces arrested on Monday at the international airport of Beirut Saudi Prince Waleed Bin Abdul Mohsen Bin Abdul Aziz. According to satellite channel “Al-Mayadin” during examination a large consignment of drugs was found in Prince’s possession.

The sudden arrest of one of the princes may have an indirect impact on decision-making of foreign policy leadership. In other words, the negotiation process in the settlement of the Syrian moves forward.

However, details of the arrest were even more interesting than in short TASS message.

2 tons of Captagon tablets (to be absolutely exact – 1900 kilograms), which were laid out in a 32 pack and 8 suitcases were found. For those who hear the name of the drug for the first time, here is some description:

Deadly amphetamine became a nightmare for the Middle East: in the ecstasy people cut and kill with a smile on their face and the emptiness in their head. Kurds found it in the pockets of hundreds of militants killed in Cobani. Analysis conducted by US intelligence of the films with Jihadi John, a British militant who carried out the execution of Western hostages, showed that the executioner was under the influence of the amphetamine.

What many meatheads don’t seem to understand is that the thing they should be fearing most looks back at them from their mirror.

Descent into superstition (don’t forget that the financial shenanigans are also a reflection of of the disposal of reality) ain’t gonna get us anything but another prolonged dark age.

I can hardly wait for the meathead parade to take their shit to the streets; bring on the new wave of KKK marches, replete with quasi-nazi uniforms. Please, hurry up; the time grows short for these demonstrations of dumb-fuckery. We have to realize that such things are self-affirming indulgences, compared to what’s coming as the Earth begins its mighty shrug.

Let me just say this: There are much grimmer scenarios in store when people truly begin the fight for *survival*. Do you hear that? *Survival*, not some cobbled together ideology.
This utter bullshit about who deserves to rule will be swept away in a tidal wave of desperation. These tawdry suppositions of whose dystopia will win the day are strictly flights of megalomaniacal fantasy. (The powerless dream of power.) Inflexibility means adaptation is impossible… and we all know how that ends.

Here is what I would like to see addressed at the “Republican debate”

Jeb Bush, you’ve proposed a tax plan that would give the biggest share of tax cuts (11.6 percent) to the top 1 percent, and only 2.9 percent to those in the middle. Do you think widening inequality is a problem, and how does your tax plan reverse it?

Marco Rubio, you say you don’t want to raise the minimum wage. The minimum wage is near its historic low, adjusted for inflation. Do you believe in having a minimum wage at all? If not, do you believe in minimum safety standards, minimum health standards, and a 40-hour workweek? By the way, if you’re elected president will you work 40 hours a week or do it as a part-time job, as you’ve done the Senate?

Donald Trump, your tax plan is even more generous to the top 1 percent than Jeb Bush’s plan, giving them 21.6 percent of the tax cuts. Do you think all young people, on reaching the age of 22, should be given a $1 million loan from their parents?

Carly Fiorina, you have lashed out against ‘crony capitalism.’ Does the fact that Hewlett-Packard under your tenure increased its spending on lobbying and political campaigns, and that your own campaign is underwritten by some of the biggest corporations and banks in America, make you a crony capitalist?

Chris Christie, as governor of New Jersey you’ve presided over a state economy that has recovered only 62% of the jobs lost in the recession while the rest of the country has regained 132%. New Jersey is also 46th out of 50 states in growth. Will you be as bad for the U.S. economy as you’ve been for New Jersey?

Rand Paul, you’ve proposed a “flat” tax, which would lower the tax rates paid by the wealthy and increase the tax rates paid by lower-income Americans. The one deduction you’d keep is the home mortgage interest deduction, three-quarters of whose benefits go to those earning over $100,000. How exactly will your plan reverse inequality?

Ted Cruz, you want to abolish the IRS. How would you collect taxes?

Ben Carson, you have said ‘we live in a Gestapo age,’ that the United States has become ‘very much like Nazi Germany,’ that Hitler couldn’t have accomplished his goals ‘if the people had been armed,’ and that Planned Parenthood is ‘like Nazi Germany.’ What does Nazi Germany have to do with how you’d fix the U.S. economy?

What would you ask the Republican candidates about the economy?” –Robert Reich

well all you multicultural lovers, here is what is happening in the heart of europe just a few days into this muslim invasion

    http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2015/10/germans-panic-as-muslims-march-through-city-this-is-our-future-video/

lovely to hear the melodious mono-note chanting, watching the ugly hags covered almost head to toe in virtually no color pushing their 20 babies in strollers paid for by money stolen from working europeans.

can’t wait for the carnage to begin, it’s the only way for europe to finally understand how stupid they are to elect liberal dogooders.

they’ll wake up, the old european fierceness is dormant in their blood but not extinguisht

there are two european women commenting with great fear and trepidation – hope that women will finally wake up to the horror one of their own has inflicted upon them.

they’ll find a warrior man to protect them

    Frankiti,

You don’t understand all the complaining about the financial system? What are you saying, that we should all just say never-mind, let bygones be bygones and let the people that wrecked the system – and the lives and prospects of hundreds of millions – just skate?

Yeah, the system is a rubber raft in the deep blue sea and yeah, all we have is a marshmallow or two to plug the leaks. How did we get into this fix though?

I know what you’re going to say, that a lot of ordinary joes shut their eyes and let themselves be led by the nose into this leaky boat. And I would agree.

You could say that there was a willing suspension of disbelief: a home purchase is the best investment you can make. Everyone says it so it MUST be true. So, just don’t worry yer purdy little haid and put yer X on the line, there’s my girl.

I mean, I heard Alice Rivlin say that nobody thought that you could get such a debacle in housing markets and on a national scale. So, according to her, even the high and mighty got fooled.

But never mind the excuse that even the experts didn’t see it coming, which is just bunk, because any ten year old with two functioning brain cells could see through the preposterous frauds of the elite. Like I said, it’s a willing suspension of disbelief and you sure won’t see something coming if you refuse to look.

So what about those guys doing the leading? The idiocy of the man on the street doesn’t absolve the crooks at the top. What about their insistence on their bonuses, what about the torrent of lies and smooth assurances that all would be well, just listen to us, we’re the mighty Harvard and Wharton MBAs? Do we just let it pass? Why should we?

And what about the chorus in academe backing them up, touting their theories. What about all the triumphalism and all the I told you so’s about the superiority of Yankee Doodle over the Soviet Bear and the Yellow Peril? It’s the end of history, remember? Do we just shrug it all off? Why should we? What good is it? Why are we wasting money on it? Why shouldn’t it all be shut down, complicit as it is in the disaster?

The conclusion that followed – a mind boggling non-sequitur – was that no, we don’t need no regulation and no, markets will regulate themselves. Remember the trio of Summers, Greenspan and Rubin (yeah, Janos, I know what you’re going to say) whispering into Bill’s ear all these sweet nothings about the brave new world of banking and how things had changed and if a little capitalism was good, unfettered capitalism was so much better.

But it wasn’t like there weren’t other voices saying otherwise, that the repeal of Glass Steagall and taking a pass on regulation of derivatives, would lead to calamity.

And calamity is what we got.

Now, I’m going out on a limb, given that it’s pretty much BAU on Wall Street, given that Wall Street has one of its protectors heading up the SEC, given that Dodd Frank is buried in Mary Jo’s office never to emerge in our lifetime while she peruses it line by line, given that government officials all stand shoulder to shoulder in looking after Wall Street’s interests, I’m going to predict that the 2008 debacle was just the warm-up.

Get over it? As the commercial goes, what’s in YOUR wallet? Frankiti, I’m further predicting that whatever’s in there, whether it’s a little or a lot, you’ll be using it to wipe your ass.

You know, they dug a well in the middle of that main road that goes from Rome to Ostia. They were grazing cattle in Rome’s forum. So yeah, after the collapse, life went on. But maybe not everybody’s and maybe not all that well.

Another thing, there was just an article in Bloomberg about a collision between the Fed and bond markets over a rate increase.

But there’s another collision, that collision is between reality as it exists on the ground at home and work, and that non-reality of exuberant official employment and production statistics.

The Fed sez they can’t raise rates. But why not? The logical conclusion is that the official stats are bogus and the Fed knows it. The economy is nothing like the one depicted in official numbers.

The question is the timing of the collision – when does the Fed admit that government figures are garbage?

When does the Fed admit that official inflation numbers have no connection to the reality of grocery store prices, you know, the price of meat and vegetables? And when do they admit that formulas for calculating the cost of living bear no resemblance to the cost of living as it exists in reality?

Just imagine the cost of living for those 47% that Romney said never pay tax. What’s in their basket of goods? Imagine the cost of necessities like food and health insurance to those people. And never mind the cost of college.

After watching the tape of the SRO it’s pretty clear the “student” was intent on disruption and was not going to ‘go gently’. So the officer proceeded appropriately.

But what about the other students (presuming they are worthy of the title)?

Is anyone asking what this disgusting , disruptive behavior is doing to the rest of the class or how many comprised “educations” as result of coddling violent thugs and anti-intellectual scum?

And this truth be told, is why America self-segregates. I would not expose a son or daughter, in such a precious time of the educational life, to these types of violent, obstinate, destructive creeps. The type of assholes that would body slam a principal to the ground.

Hopefully the police officer will be exonerated in this instance.

“can’t wait for the carnage to begin” –fodase

There will be no carnage, fodase. Europe will become stronger.

The refugees have job skills, they are young, and they will help the European economy’s aging workforce. Refugees are a long-term boon, a net gain to European budgets. If you compare the costs of receiving the refugees to Europe’s GDP, it’s really not a significant amount of money. Merkel has done a good thing. Women have wisdom men don’t often appreciate.

A study this month from the International Labor Organization, underwritten by the OECD and the World Bank, concluded that “ migrants pay more in taxes and social contributions than they receive, and contribute substantially to destination countries’ economies.

Hey, that’s what I’ve been saying for years! Nice to see data as proof.

    • Sean Coleman October 28, 2015 at 4:36 pm #

“migrants pay more in taxes and social contributions than they receive”

Where can I read this study? Usually the press take what they want to take out of research and who funds and does the research is important. I did a word search but couldn’t find anything.

Next, you have to read it carefully. Your quote doesn’t mention other costs to the host country, such as education and medical care. It possibly refers only to migrants who have found work.

I have just read Ed West’s The Diversity Delusion about immigration in Britain where the economic arguments are sunk. These arguments are made forcefully by economists like Philippe Legrain. I am no economist but I argued it with an open borders disciple of his on the Irish Economy blog (which I linked to here a few weeks ago) and he had nothing to offer but right-on cliché. (The events of the last 7 or 8 years show the value to the world of wider economic doctrine.) The problem is that people are reluctant to argue against mass immigration on any other grounds than economics because they are afraid (with good reason) that they will be labelled as racists.

One of the interesting things about the subject is that quite a few immigrants oppose further immigration. This is rational on their part and I am just happy to see sense being talked from any quarter. I suspect however that in some cases they would make an exception for their own extended families.

“So the officer proceeded appropriately.” –Buck Stud

There was no violence on the part of the student. While being thrown to the floor her arm was flailing from being off balance, but the officer was never struck by the student. The video does not show the student “punching” the officer. The officer’s choice to escalate was not appropriate. Proper police training aims to de-escalate and avoid violence. The FBI is investigating and the officer is on leave without pay. Hopefully the police officer will be fired.

    • elysianfield October 28, 2015 at 6:44 pm #

” Proper police training aims to de-escalate and avoid violence.”

Officer; “Please stand up, you are being removed from the class-room”

      Student; (Silence)

Officer; Again, you will have to leave the classroom or you will be sanctioned.

      Student; (Silence)

Other students; “Leave her alone, she was not doing anything”….a chorus of voices continues….

Officer to Principal; Well, she thwarted my best efforts…I guess chaos will continue to prevail in your classrooms.

Principal; But this will provide for a moral hazard…

      Officer; Yup.

Other students; “yeah, right on…fuck the honky pig….”

      Principal; “Now class….”

Please explain the scenario using “proper police training”….

    • Buck Stud October 28, 2015 at 11:28 pm #

“There was no violence on the part of the student.”

I don’t fault you for not being able top detect ‘violence’ within the deeper regions of the body because you obviously have no training in doing so. Nonetheless, the officer made a rather benign gesture’ grasp for the student at which time she vehemently ‘jerked against’ the gesture in the most defiant manner possible, hence the escalation.

She’s an asshole any way you cut it and it’s too bad this officer sacrificed his career on this miserable piece of shit. Moreover, as has been mentioned, this type of dismissive recognition of the “student’s” role in this incident and corresponding tolerance/encouragement of this type of behavior will indeed lead to more charter/private schools and further erode teacher/worker benefits befitting of an honorable middle class career.

Ironic, isn’t it, that your apologist self-deception will only lead to further debasement of working class Americans and more power for the right-wing privatization industry. And all in the name of defending the indefensible: the insolent asshole with a chip on their shoulder, intent of destroying the educational ambiance.

But you can’t see around ‘that corner’ yet just as you can’t see physical resistance/obstinate/defiance/violence.

One of these days you will be forced to admit to yourself that Ol’ ‘Buck Stud war right on this count.

  94. wpa_ccc October 28, 2015 at 1:20 pm #

Well, that didn’t take long. Besides losing his job, the officer should be prosecuted, both civil and criminally. His actions exceeded micro-aggressions. Je suis Charlie. The officer now knows how the real world works.

“Fields arrested the teen girl after she reportedly ignored her teacher’s order to put away her cell phone. The aggressive discipline is just one example of the school-to-prison pipeline phenomenon, in which black children are more likely to be criminalized for their behavior than their white peers.

Lott said his department was solely investigating whether Fields broke department policy, and that he reached out to other authorities to handle the broader criminal and civil rights investigations.

“I don’t feel proper procedures were used at this point,” Lott said. “The maneuver he used was not based on training, or acceptable.”

yes i know Australia values other cultures, that is what Anglo-Saxon culture does, it values that which is worth valuing.

“Values” other cultures, not bows down to or sets them above its own, vastly superior culture.

At least in Australia, if not in Europe and the US and A.

If white Anglo-Saxon culture were not superior, the boats and throngs of ‘refugees’ (who typically traverse multiple safe-have countries to get to the countries with the highest welfare benefits) would be headed in the other direction.

Australia is doomed since it has a rate of legal immigration from the 3rd World. What does the legality matter per se – if the final result will be the same: lots of Black and Brown Muslims? Of course lots of Chinese are coming too, but they typically vote Left if America is any guide. In any case, they aren’t us and never can be us. We aren’t interchangeable.

Legality is important if it stops bad things. If it doesn’t (as in the case of legal immigration from bad places) then the Law becomes an Ass.

    The Empire Strikes Back

In geopolitics October passed under the Russian flag. Carter Doctrine in the Middle East was replaced by the doctrine of Putin. Russia in just a few months has become a leading player in Middle East politics.

At the same time the impression that the US is losing ground.

However, the United States remains the strongest country in the world, the only dominant empire that is ready to defend by all available means its leading position which determines its future.

The degree of danger of the current situation to US could be seen in a fact that there was an unprecedented consensus among political elite of the United States regarding the public debt ceiling and increase of the expenditures of the federal budget.

This time, Congress and the White House, without excessive noise, came to an agreement: government debt ceiling is raised to $19.6 trillion, while government spending is increased by $50 billion next year and another $30 billion in 2017, half of which will fall on defense spending.

At the same time the White House sought and obtained congressional approval for the use of another tool in the geopolitical game of the United States against all. Congress approved a symbolic sale of oil from strategic reserves of the United States, supposedly in order to reduce the budget deficit. This tool the federal government used only once in 1996, when it sold 23 million barrels of oil. Now is planned sale of 58 million barrels during the period 2017-2025.

From the point of view of common business sense such move is quite controversial. Now oil prices are at their lows and, as shown by all analytical forecasts for the next five years, prices will not rise above $80.

The US budget deficit is at a record low level, but at the same time, the proceeds from the sale of oil, cannot even reduce the deficit by a quarter. But as soon as plans were announced by the US government, oil prices were under pressure, falling in one trading session by 5%, to a critical, in terms of technical analysis, the level of $46 per barrel of Brent. A break of this level would entail a further drop of oil to $43 and then $40.

The decision to sell oil from the reserves, coupled with verbal interventions by banking conglomerate Goldman Sachs, which in October three times gave the forecast on oil price at $20, which is unusual, since such projections are usually made once a quarter, says US losing control of the oil market. White House finds it is more difficult to manipulate the oil prices in order to influence the economy and politics of countries such as Russia, Iran and Saudi Arabia.

US need new sources of oil supply in the market, which became the state reserve. For Washington, it is a forced move, which was triggered by an active policy of Russia in the Middle East and the stability of its economy at a price range of oil at $40-50. The decision to sell oil from state reserves was announced at the background data on industrial production in Russia, which, in September, for the first time since the beginning of the year increased by 0.3%.

Merkel will resign within 2 months

europeans now really waking up to multicultural horrors

    Newest multicultural victory in Germany:
    ==================================================
Sixty hurt in mass brawl over food at German refugee camp

German police union called for new ‘apartheid’ system in migrant homes

Sixty people were hurt when a mass riot broke out over food at a tented refugee camp in Germany.
Police used tear gas to break up brawling between around 400 refugees.
The riot at Calden near Kassel came on the the same day Germany’s biggest police union called for a new ‘apartheid’ system to be enforced in refugee homes – the separation of people according to religion – after a number of flare ups in recent weeks.

Conservative politicians back the calls for separated refugee centres, claiming Christians in the homes are being harassed and persecuted by hardline Muslims.
The former minister of the interior Hans-Peter Friedrich said: ‘It is sad, but obviously necessary that we require the separation of asylum seekers according to religion.’
The current chairman of the ruling CDU parliamentaty group, Volker Kauder, said: ‘Muslim associations should clearly renounce attacks on Christians in the asylum homes.’

Such wonderful multiple cultures enriching Germany’s backward native white population! Shame on the ‘conservative’ ministers for condemning attacks on Christians by muslims.

The Christians probably offended the muslims.

So, we’ve already got multicultural paradise Germany separating peaceful muslims by religion, thereby undoing all of Germany’s multi-decade efforts to create a tolerant society, within a few days of the arrival of these miscreants.

Of course all german women and children are now on 24×7 rape alert as well.

and of course, no mention from the leftist insane fools in Europe about this, they wouldn’t want to offend wonderful muslims.

Medical nanotechnology breakthrough will change mankind forever

It has been speculated since long by futurists that nanotechnology will revolutionize virtually every field of our lives, medicine making no exception.

Nanotechnology focuses on the engineering of materials and devices at a nanoscale, by using building blocks of atoms and molecules.

Medical nanotechnology may be able to extend our lives in two ways. It can repair our bodies at the cellular level, reverse aging and providing a certain version of the fountain of youth, and it can help the medical community to eradicate life-threatening diseases such as stroke, heart attack, HIV or cancer.

Ruchi Pandya’s biosensor could eventually save lives by providing an up to 72-hour warning of an impending heart attack.

By curing life-threatening disease, nanotech can extend the average lifespan far beyond the remarkable achievements of the last century. For instance, the nanotechnology applications in healthcare are likely to minimize the number of deaths from conditions such as heart disease and cancer over the next decade or so. There are already many research programs in place working on these techniques.

Very little attention on this forum is paid to the real developments in the hi-tech world and advance of next-generation technical order.

That particular segment of the industry, including energy-saving technologies like photodiodes, are currently growing at the annual rate of 20-30% and is a real way out of current crisis, not the small local agriculture on the subsistence level.

US are definitely a world leader in developing those technologies.

Republican candidates agree: America likes beer.

Republican presidential candidates wanted in on those drinking games that debate-watchers often play.

During two debates on CNBC Wednesday night, the candidates returned again and again to their love of beer, a subject with a rich history in American politics.

At the main debate, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz referred to the perennial question asked of voters: Which candidate would they like to get a beer with? But this time, he gave a surprising answer, noting that he has a reputation for stirring up trouble.

“If you want someone to grab a beer with, I may not be your guy,” he said. “But if you want someone to drive you home, I will get the job done. And I will get you home.”

Later, debate moderator Carl Quintanilla joked that he and Cruz wouldn’t be able to get a beer together after a rough back-and-forth, and Cruz responded with one of the goofier moments of the evening, offering to buy him a tequila or a pot brownie instead.

During the undercard debate, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum was asked about the proposed acquisition of Colorado-based Coors Brewing Co. by the owner of Budweiser, a move that would put a third of all brewers in the country in the hands of one company.

Santorum responded by noting the health of America’s microbreweries, citing personal experience.

“As I travel around the country, I do pints and politics, and I go to breweries all over the place, and there — there’s almost no town in America anymore that doesn’t have a brewery, so I don’t think we need to worry too much,” he said.

“I do drink lots of Coors beer,” he added.

At the undercard debate, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham added that he knows a thing or two about beer. –Time

Weren’t they all bragging about how their Republican primary discourse was so substantive, concerning their 10% (9/9/9!!!) flat tax, which would result in less than 50% of the current annual IRS tax revenue? And which would also significantly reduce taxes on the rich/corporations, while at the same time increasing tax on the poor, and what’s left of the middle class. Wow, they were all definitely making a *play* for the Koch brother’s $750 million PAC…

Not a mention either, about the $118k limit for SS/MC tax (“they” robbed that account blind already).

    We need more jihad.

“Jihad is the Arabic word for “struggle” or “effort”. In the context of the Holy Qur’an, jihad is a struggle or effort to strive “in the path of God” (22:78). Scholar James Turner Johnson says it this way: “the concept of jihad…fundamentally denotes striving or effort expended by the individual Muslim to walk in the path of God” (Johnson 19; Feldman 232-233). Jihad is the effort to purify oneself from within, to purify oneself of selfish appetites–the intention behind the action is important to the action itself.”

    What is Jihad?

Looks like I may have judged the disruptive student a bit too harshly. Evidently she was just placed in a foster home (lost her mother?) and indeed initially apologized for her cell phone.

But she did in fact vigorously resist and the cop was just responding–he was initially gentle and in the aftermath of her resistance/subjugation he was again ‘light’ with the force.

I suppose this is just the new normal with so much of the populace residing in dysfunctional households. I do pity the teachers however, the work harder that most can imagine.

    • elysianfield October 29, 2015 at 4:42 pm #

      Buck,
The police officer was not removing the student of his own volition…he was ordered by “competent authority” to do so. If that “competent authority had accepted her apology, the cop would have left the classroom.

    • wpa_ccc October 29, 2015 at 9:02 pm #

“I suppose this is just the new normal with so much of the populace residing in dysfunctional households.”

The new normal is to extinguish the life of Black unarmed and non-threatening “offenders”: shooting a slow running elderly Black man in the back, choking an overweight Black man to death for selling loose cigarettes, imprisoning a Black woman for a fictional traffic offense, then staging a jail cell “suicide,” shooting a lonely 12-year old within two seconds of arriving where he is playing by himself in a public park… the list goes on. The crime in all cases is existing with Black skin. “Residing in a dysfunctional household” does not give license to murder or transgress in a violent way.

Yes, Bush voluntarily spoke at length about it. No one asked Jeb Bush if he played Fantasy Football. Jeb volunteered he was 7-0. Jeb spontaneously explained he was winning. No one asked if he was winning. Jeb explained that his winning streak was because of the New England Patriots tight end and his starting quarterback, Ryan Tannehill (who he is apparently starting over Peyton Manning). The moderators did not ask for any of that information. During a nationally televised presidential debate to determine the Republican party nominee, Bush volunteered information like: “Gronkowski is still going strong” confirming Bush is a superficial idiot who is not focussed on the nation’s problems.

“Maybe Finc can tell us where Russia resides on the list.” –Buck Stud

Buck Stud, I looked at the list and only saw the world’s largest economies. Russia is not on the list. Russia is not among the world’s largest economies. Russia is hurting like an SOB economically due to Obama’s sanctions and Putin’s costly and ill-advised military misadventures designed to take attention away from the dire domestic Russian economic situation.

Russia’s absence from the list just confirms what Obama said: “Russia is a small regional player” … Russia is projected to have a GDP about the size of Italy’s by 2030. Russia is about as important as Italy on the world stage.

The world is transitioning to non-polluting, non-fossil fuel energy sources. Obama was smart enough to see that. Putin was not. Putin is stuck on oil. That is why Putin is hurting with the collapse of oil prices.

Russia has now entered a recession for the first time since 2009. Russia’s economy suffers from lack of diversification because its reliance on the oil and gas sector has siphoned capital investment from other sectors. Russia needs diversification away from energy… but Putin is too stupid to see that. So Putin is now playing the macho military adventurere to shift attention away from the collapse of oil prices and the collapse of the ruble.

US and Russian Military spokesmen hold a dick-measuring contest

Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major-General Igor Konashenkov commented on the statement of the official representative of the command of the operation “Enduring Commitment” in Iraq and Syria, Colonel Warren that “some” of the Russian strikes in Syria “allowed ISIS to maneuver.” Also, in his opinion, Russian aircraft used against the terrorists mostly unguided bombs, which, according to the American command, “reckless and irresponsible”.

“A week ago I hinted Colonel Warren that military affairs must be dealt with professionally and not by talking about them.

But it did not work out.

During the briefings, I have repeatedly emphasized to the media that aiming systems on our planes in Syria are state-of-the-art, allowing, figuratively speaking, to hit a shovel with a stone from 4 miles up.

And special munitions we use only for the relevant terrorist’s objects.

Moreover, unlike the Colonel, we do not only talk, but also clearly demonstrate to the public video data of our airstrikes. Because it’s always better to see once than hear a hundred times.

Now about Warren’s statements of fact “maneuvering” ISIS terrorists after our air strikes. What is there to add?

Apparently, after the bombing by US planes terrorists are spellbound and applaud with shouts of “Encore!”. And then call on their colleagues from around the world to see the show.

That explains why after a year of bombing by US aircraft ISIS terrorists managed to capture and control the majority of Syria”

Malthuss, thanks… that is a good use for Protestant churches… in keeping with Christian values and Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. Thanks for sharing… the article confirms things are going well in Europe… Christians, Jews, and Muslims living together in peace.

“It is personal interaction that overcomes the false impressions given by the endless replay of extremist Muslim and Christian ideology promulgated through the world of cable news, internet bloggers, daily newspapers, and special interest groups. The politics of the street, played out in emotional confrontations for the purpose of garnering political power, must be replaced in our understanding of reality with the politics of the living room, civic center, soccer field, mosque, church, and synagogue. In conversation with one another, Christians and Muslims will learn that the religious basis for inter-religious peace in a modern society exists in their communities even now.

Can Christians and Muslims ever live in peace? In fact we do. We simply need to invite more and more people into that peace through dialogue and friendship.” –Robert Hunt

“Maybe Finc can tell us where Russia resides on the list.” –Buck Stud

Let’s see what really had happened. If the US wants to maintain their military bases in Europe or Middle East – they must throw all their energies to research and development and to be able to create as soon as possible what they never had before: anti-aircraft missiles, capable of destroying the Russian Calibers missiles. How long this will take time – I have no idea. “Patriots” were developed and manufactured by Raytheon in the 70s, R & D, test run, debug took 6 years

A year ago, Obama said that the Russian economy was “torn to shreds”. After October 7 it is the words of a man who simply does not have air bases in Europe and the Middle East.

In an amazing time we live, gentlemen. 36 strategic facilities that are not protected by anything. 5-6 years are needed to ensure that they could be protected from Russian Caliber. 5-6 years for Russia to ensure that it churns out those Calibers and carriers for them.

Today Calibers can start from the tiny “Buyan-M”, from a 636.3-class submarines, patrol ships with class 11661. “Tomahawks” are able to start from the aircraft; we have not yet heard yet could Calibers do the same. But, in fact, how the airborne guided missile (GM) differs from sea-based GM? It just does not need first-stage acceleration engine – from under the wing of the aircraft missile starts with the speed of the aircraft. Length of Caliber is 8 meters, without a single stage engine, it will be shorter. If designers have managed without changing the dimensions of size (compared to the export options), to “teach” them to fly to a distance 10 times greater than that of the export version, believe that they will overcome airborne problems.

European NATO countries now need to think about how close their nuclear power plants, chemical plants, oil refineries, hydroelectric dams, their capitals and major cities.

We here in Ft. Meade operate on the idea that “demographics ARE destiny”. If the invasion from the south had been cut off in the 1960s, the present population of the US would be well under a very sustainable 250 million. If the present invasion levels continue, the population of the US will be over 500 million by the year 2050. The present population is estimated to be around a barely sustainable 350 million if all the illegals are counted. Unlimited immigration (illegal and legal) is NOT sustainable in an advanced welfare state like the US…..only business elites, traitors, lefties, and fools think it is a good idea.

Is Great Britain getting married to China?

The scarlet dress of Kate Middleton, combined with the precious tiara on his head at a gala dinner, caused most of talk and rumors.

In China Bright Royal Red symbolizes the tradition of well-being and prosperity. But more subtle observers have noted that in China red dress a woman wears on her wedding only.

An additional reason for such an interpretation given the fact that the wife of Xi at the dinner sat separately from her husband and did not hit the official photos as well as the husband of Kate, Prince William, the future monarch of Great Britain(?).

The image of the “bride” was competed by Kate’s tiara, which does not belong to her, and that the princess wore only the second time in his life. The first time was on her wedding to Prince William.

Religion is not mind-inhibiting. You can have religious beliefs and still have a scientific mind which produces works progress. Atheists can also have scientific minds, but from the evidence of Nobel prizes, atheism seems to be “mind-inhibiting”…

“witness all of history and all of europe being besieged by these dullard ignorant women-enslaving throwbacks” –fodase

Witness all the Christian, atheist, agnostic, and Jewish scientists using mathematics, arabic numerals, and algebra developed by Muslim mathematicians … (when ignorant Europe was in the Dark Ages).

“The Qu’ran itself encouraged the accumulation of knowledge, and a Golden Age of Islamic science and mathematics flourished throughout the medieval period from the 9th to 15th Centuries. The House of Wisdom was set up in Baghdad around 810, and work started almost immediately on translating the major Greek and Indian mathematical and astronomy works into Arabic.

The outstanding Persian mathematician Muhammad Al-Khwarizmi was an early Director of the House of Wisdom in the 9th Century, and one of the greatest of early Muslim mathematicians. Perhaps Al-Khwarizmi’s most important contribution to mathematics was his strong advocacy of the Hindu numerical system (1 – 9 and 0), which he recognized as having the power and efficiency needed to revolutionize Islamic (and, later, Western) mathematics, and which was soon adopted by the entire Islamic world, and later by Europe as well.

Al-Khwarizmi’s other important contribution was algebra, and he introduced the fundamental algebraic methods of “reduction” and “balancing” and provided an exhaustive account of solving polynomial equations up to the second degree. In this way, he helped create the powerful abstract mathematical language still used across the world today, and allowed a much more general way of analyzing problems other than just the specific problems previously considered by the Indians and Chinese.”

    “[Muslims] are women-enslaving throwbacks” –fodase

“In Turkey, the proportion of female university researchers is slightly higher (36%) than the average for the 27-member European Union as of 2012 (33%).

A Muslim nation has more women university researchers than Europe, so your charge of “women-enslaving” only applies to certain countries and their internal policies, not to Islam. Here is more proof:

At the University of Jordan, which is Jordan’s largest and oldest university, 65% of students were female in 2013. In other words, a Muslim nation has a higher percentage of women enrolled in university than the United States does. Female students made up only 56 percent of total undergraduate enrollment in the USA according to the U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics.

In Kazakhstan, there were 115 female students for every 100 male students in tertiary education in 1999; according to the World Bank, this ratio had increased to 144:100 by 2008. Once again, more Muslim women in higher education than men.

Similarly, in other Muslim countries, like Malaysia, Algeria, and Saudi Arabia, the majority of university students have been female in recent years. Princess Nora bint Abdulrahman University (founded in 2007) the world’s largest university for women with an enrollment of over 52,000 undergraduate and graduate students. What European or American university has 52,000 women studying there?

Physician/fodase, heal thyself. Your prejudice is ugly and not supported by facts. You cannot justly condemn a whole religion based upon backward national policies of some Muslim nations or the actions of small extremist Islamic groups like the Taliban.

The Nazi roots of Islamism and ISIS

There is every reason to believe that the heirs of Hitler identified the Islamic world for a new attempt to establish power over the world. The basis for such a transformation of Nazism was a clear Hitler’s statement about the similarity of the Muslim and Nazi ideas, which he made during a meeting with the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, al-Husseini.

If we remember that the ideology of Hitler was “above” National Socialism as such, as repeatedly mentioned in his memoirs, people who knew him tell that his leading idea was “global fascist revolution”, as he himself has repeatedly said, the nationalistic color of fascism becomes quite secondary. A primary is the idea of the totalitarian state; the complete subordination of private to public, the idea with the utmost clarity formulated by “the main theoretician of” fascism Benito Mussolini. And then you can start moving towards the ultimate goal – world domination and the establishment of a totalitarian way of management of the society from any point of the globe – from where the main ideas of fascism take root.

Just as the Mufti of Jerusalem dreamed of smashing the Treaty of Sevres and the revival of the Great Islamic state from the Indus to the Atlantic, Hitler’s the leading idea was scrapping the Versailles Treaty and the creation of a “Thousand-Year Reich.”

People who knew Hitler repeatedly stated that in private he expressed his ideas considerably different from those presented in “Mein Kampf” to the general German public. The meaning of these ideas was to establish world domination. In this context, even the nationalist component in Hitler’s ideology plays only a tactical role. Austrian Hitler believed that the destiny gave Germany to him – the country recently great and longing for the greatness again, that he can use as an outpost of the future world…

Hitler’s regime began to cooperate with Arab leaders, obsessed with the idea of the Caliphate almost immediately after coming to power in 1933.

Already in the mid-thirties Palestinian “freedom fighters” translated “Mein Kampf” and began to actively distribute it among the Muslim population in the Middle East. Following the precepts of the Kaiser, shortly after Hitler came to power, Germany has sent to the Middle East, Turkey, Iran has a lot of “teachers of the German language” for Iraqi schools and universities that are engaged in active propaganda of Nazism and the recruitment of personnel.

True, I haven’t read the book, but it is not the first time I come across in Russian sources about the connection of Wahhabi flavor of Islam and Nazi functionaries, who after the war escaped the Germany and Nuremberg Tribunal and moved to Middle East.

Specially fascinating sounds the story of ODESSA – organisation der Ehemaligen SS-Angehörigen, meaning “Organization of Former SS Members”.

Of course, it deserves a more careful research (who has time?), but to me it rings true.

It would be an amazing turn of History if Russia, once again, is on the front-line of fighting fascism and America, once again, is a reluctant ally in that struggle.

Some Nazis fled for their lives and found refuge in the Arab World – even helping them build up their defenses against the Zionists. Thank God for small favors, eh? None of this proves any grand meeting of the minds between National Socialism and Islam. But yes, they had a common enemy. That’s it. Likewise, Germany and Shinto Japan. Are you now going to say the Nazis were Shinoists? No, because there’s no political capital in doing that, right?

Yes, Bibi said that Hitler was just following orders from the Mufti in regards to the Holocaust. Now the real question: why isn’t Bibi being hauled before European Courts for saying this?

Needless to say, the idea of Hitler taking orders from savages is absurd. Fascism means reverence for one’s own nation and culture. The invasion of Europe by Muslims would never have happened on their watch. That Bibi would just up and say this, reversing the whole narrative in place for generations, shows the very casual approach to Truth that is the hallmark of the Jews. The whole Holocaust tale is itself is just another Jewish “story”.

Why and why now? Bibs is probably realizing with horror that the Jews can’t face Islam without the help of White Europeans. Why now? He’s on the losing side in Syria and now Europe is falling too. That would wake up anyone capable of awakening. Many Jews aren’t and are still supporting the invasion.

““global fascist revolution” doesn’t even rise to the level of mediocre tabloid innuendo? ” — Buck

Not true, especially for someone with Russian cultural background. The idea of “global Bolshevik Revolution” was propagated by Trotsky in the early years of the Soviet Union. For Trotsky, Russia was just a starting point of spreading the Bolshevism fire around the world and if Russia and Russian people would burn in the process, so be it.

Trotsky was defeated by Nationally-oriented Stalin for whom interests of Russia were primary, so Stalin came up with the concept of “building the Socialism in a stand-alone country”.

Most of the purges of the 30s in Russia were connected with that struggle between nationally-oriented elite and “internationalists”.

I think Stalin was not really a communist, he just found it more pragmatic to adjust the Communist Ideology to Russia’s national interests.

Khrushchev, on the other hand, was pure Trotskist.

Hours after the crash, a branch of the Islamic State operating in the Sinai Peninsula issued a claim of responsibility. yeah that’s the impression we’re all getting seeing constant suicide bombings among their own, no-go zones throughout europe where the police fear to tread, little muslim kids in france hurling stones at French Catholics coming out of church (to express their thanks for giving them a new country and modern culture), machine gunning journalists and slitting the throat of anyone who shows the image of the great prophet in anything but a saintly light.

then there’s the epidemic of rape in sweden, grenade attacks in Malmo, sweden’s foreign minister admitting the country’s near collapse.

islam is a scourge upon mankind and the world will be so much better off it it were eradicated once and for all

“yeah that’s the impression we’re all getting” –fodase

Question the impression you are being fed. There were no suicide bombings in Iraq before George W. Bush began his bombing campaign. A month-long investigation by The Independent, culling four Arabic-language newspapers, official Iraqi statistics, two Beirut news agencies and Western reports, shows that there rarely was a suicide in Iraq before W invaded and caused the chaos that has created ISIS.

About Europe, look at the facts: one mass bombing in London (2004) and one mass bombing in Madrid (2005) … Neither of which would have happened if the white “civilized” west had not dropped thousands of bombs on Muslim countries in 2003, killing thousands of civilians.

Even so, only a few so-called “muslims” embrace violence. If you are violent, you are not part of Islam. The world’s 1.5 Billion Muslims condemn violence.

But you don’t believe that because of mass media brainwashing and/or your anti-Muslim bigotry.

    Headline:

“Bucolic German Village of 102 to get 750 Muslim Immigrants.”

Think that will change things up a little bit? How about the young German girls, will they be able to go about their business in the safety and security they’ve known all their lives? Maybe the shool cirriculum will have to be changed too, what do you think? on the music front, Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, sweep them into the scrap heap, the only music you’ll be hearing now is coming from the local Mosque where thew Lutheran Church used to be (for 500 years), and what sweet music it is, the Call to Prayer, you’ll learn to love it, Fritz.

Wonderful! When the Germans were down and out, they received so much aid after World War 2. It is great to see them so willing to pay it forward and help the refugees.

The question is, when does the terror start, and the effort to bring western Europe to its knees?

        brh

        • wpa_ccc November 1, 2015 at 1:33 am #

Has any refugee said that is their goal? Has any Muslim said that is their goal? What they want is to work, raise a family, and not live in fear of America or Russian bombardment. That’s pretty much what anybody wants really. Why are you so convinced nefarious forces are at work? Why do you use language like “bring Europe to its knees” when nobody (except you) has expressed any interest in that?

          • Janos Skorenzy November 1, 2015 at 1:50 am #

Yes, as a matter of fact. Many have said they intend to convert Europe by any and all means.

“Many have said they intend to convert Europe by any and all means.”

Who, specifically? Name names. Janos, please cite your source. I do not believe you. I want to see an interview or a written article.

According to Allah, there is no compulsion in religion: “The right path has been distinguished from error” is as absolute and universal a statement as one finds, and so under no condition should an individual be forced to accept a religion or belief against his or her will according to the Quran.

Anyone who goes against Allah and the Quran is not Muslim.

Kogalymavia was flying a beat up Airbus

Very briefly check of the history of incidents with this aircraft gave the following result.

According to airfleets dot net, crashed aircraft was previously operated by Lebanese airline MEA and flew under the registration number F-OHMP.

    http://politrussia.com/upload/iblock/31a/31ac1c1043a00dd986772cbf340d194d.png

Search for that aircraft incident in the accident database gives a description of the incident by 2001 at the Cairo airport.

    http://politrussia.com/upload/iblock/f98/f981957aae9bd4461e7a151d5b3ad8db.png

The aircraft received a tail strike. Tail strike is a blow to the tail section of the aircraft on the runway. Apparently repairs took place after the incident. Repair in such cases is considered to be a complex and expensive operation.

There are at least two confirmed cases in which the wrong repair of such damage led to the subsequent destruction of the aircraft in the air:

    Japan Airlines Flight 123 – August 12, 1985 (520 dead)

    China Airlines Flight 611 – 2002 year (224 deaths)

On the aforementioned disasters, investigators have come to definitive conclusions that wrongly refurbished “tail strikes” was the cause of the accident.

Moreover, experience of already occurred catastrophes shows that from the moment of improper repairs to the aircraft disaster can take years and the problem may go unnoticed at the numerous routine tests that do not involve a search for such structural problems.

The owner of the aircraft is an American-Irish company ILFC – a major player in the aviation leasing. Business of such companies functions as follows: buy a plane, and then lease it to various airlines.

Over the lifetime of one aircraft it has been leased to 5-6 companies. The plane was built in 1997, and the “tail strike” it received on 4th year of operation. Logically, to write off the beaten airplane after only 4 years of operation, no one will, but then the question arises how properly it was fixed up, as well as to know whether subsequent operators that fly the airplane were notified of the risks.

It seems that the standard aircraft leasing contracts are copied from the user agreements of US software companies: in these agreements is also written that the seller is not responsible for anything, nothing is guaranteed, and the user priori is blamed for all consequences of use of the product. Hopefully some day we will see rules of some international markets will be finally rewritten for the benefit of the final consumer, not corporate America.

“I wonder how long it will be before Russia turns tail and runs, like they did in Afghanistan” == wpa

Well, as far as I remember it was 10 f*cking years and Russians were freely operating all over the country, not hiding their asses on the bases, like Americans do.

If not for a magnificent salesman of National interests Michael Gorbachev, Afghanistan would have been pacified and not turned into the world’s heroin factory.

ZeroHedge repeats unproven facts of alleged ISIS strike that brought down Russian civil airplane, irresponsibly trying to provoke major confrontation between the world’s military superpowers.

    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-10-31/islamic-state-claims-responsibility-russian-airplane-crash

Somehow, I never trusted that guys. We must give investigators chance to complete their work.

  153. FincaInTheMountains November 1, 2015 at 3:59 am #

Cairo, 31 October. The terrorist organization “Islamic State” has claimed responsibility for the collapse of the Russian plane carrying tourists in Egypt. “Islamic state” claimed responsibility for a plane crash in Egypt “- reports Agence France-Presse.

The agency noted that the details of the statement are not yet known.

The ISIS militants attached to the statement videos and photos of the wrong aircraft, not the one that crashed on October 31 in Sinai, so the statement of the terrorists could be a lie and provocation.

“The new normal is to extinguish the life of Black unarmed and non-threatening “offenders”: shooting a slow running elderly Black man in the back, choking an overweight Black man to death for selling loose cigarettes, imprisoning a Black woman for a fictional traffic offense, then staging a jail cell “suicide,” shooting a lonely 12-year old within two seconds of arriving where he is playing by himself in a public park… the list goes on. The crime in all cases is existing with Black skin. “Residing in a dysfunctional household” does not give license to murder or transgress in a violent way.”–WPA

Actually, blacks have always been targets of racial profiling/violence so this is not the new normal.

Ironically, you do what Janos always does: myopically twist general statements into racial/ethnic specifics. After all, there are more than enough dysfunctional white families and students as well.

My comment/assertion was dysfunctional households spill over into the classroom and make for unruly and unwilling students who destroy a fragile educational ambiance.

Should specific students suffering from very real trauma –such as the young girl recently– have the right to destroy the greater educational atmosphere of the collective student body?

If you’re being honest and consistent with your own collective belief system you would admit that no, the traumatized individual does not have that right, otherwise the composition of “The Whole’ is punctured by the minutiae of “The Particular”.

Thus my original statement/assertion that this is the new normal is not incorrect: familial dysfunction is on the rise as a result of economic stratification; Main Street with less and less, in other words.

And your interpretation and resultant assertion is incorrect because blacks have always been victims of racial violence in America.

“After all, there are more than enough dysfunctional white families and students as well.” –Buck Stud

Yes, but the dysfunctional whites are not harrassed daily for being white. Dysfunctional whites are armed and they are responsible for the majority of bombings and mass shootings in theatres, churches, shopping malls, schools, universities, post offices, etc.

Unlike whites, Blacks from both functional and dysfunctional families are on the receiving end of daily harrassment by police. It does not matter if you are a city councilman or a Harvard professor. If you are Black, you are automatically suspect and can be treated very badly, even if you are educated and you are unarmed.

There is no Black-white equivalence in our society, where white privilege runs rampant over Black humanity. If you are Black, unarmed, and non-threatening, you can still be arrested after being tased, body slammed to the ground, or shot with no questions asked. The same is not true for unarmed non-threatening whites from dysfunctional families.

That is why Black Lives Matter is the correct phrase and the correct movement. If whites were being treated like Blacks, then the correct phrase would be White Lives Matter. In neither case, would it be honest to say “All Lives Matter” since the facts on the ground prove that is not true. Some lives are subject to daily violence, some lives are all too dispensable… and that is why the correct phrase is: Black Lives Matter.

What the hell is this? I thought there was worldwide unanimity on the subject of ‘Global Warming’, treaties already have been written, alls that has to happen now is the big partry in Paris where the treaties get signed over bottles of cold bubbly.

“Putin calls Climate Change a fraud, tells Climate Change Grifters to take a hike”.

Not everybody is on board the Climate Change Express. China is pretending to be on board, but its pretty hard to believe they give a sh-t one way or the other about it, and would do anything to slow down their already faltering economy.

Putin seems to regard it as another precious western obsession, like homosexuals, and ‘racism’. I get the feeling the guy is laughing at us, the US and western Europe. In fact he laughed right in Charley Roses’ face on national TV, something I’ve seen happen before.
